(energetic music) 00:00:00.66\00:00:03.47 - [Narrator] It is the best-selling book in history. 00:00:03.47\00:00:05.80 No volume ever written has been more loved and quoted, 00:00:05.80\00:00:09.87 and it's words, sometimes simple and sometimes mysterious, 00:00:09.87\00:00:13.84 should always be studied carefully. 00:00:13.84\00:00:16.61 It is the Bible, the Word of God. 00:00:16.61\00:00:19.95 00:00:35.16\00:00:39.17 Once again, that's 1-800-835-6747. 00:00:39.17\00:00:44.14 Now here's your host from "Amazing Facts International," 00:00:45.57\00:00:48.31 Pastor Doug Batchelor. 00:00:48.31\00:00:50.25 - Hello, listening friends, 00:00:50.25\00:00:51.68 would you like to hear an amazing fact. 00:00:51.68\00:00:54.98 As a child, 00:00:54.98\00:00:56.55 Andreas Russo used to listen to his Peruvian grandfather 00:00:56.55\00:01:00.06 tell amazing stories of a boiling river 00:01:00.06\00:01:03.39 hidden in the jungles of Peru. 00:01:03.39\00:01:05.93 Then years later, during his graduate studies 00:01:05.93\00:01:08.40 at Southern Methodist University in Texas, 00:01:08.40\00:01:11.03 Russo was creating a thermal map of Peru 00:01:11.03\00:01:13.77 using infrared satellite. 00:01:13.77\00:01:16.20 That's when he discovered an unusually large hotspot, 00:01:16.20\00:01:19.94 one of the largest geothermal features 00:01:19.94\00:01:22.38 found on any continent. 00:01:22.38\00:01:24.51 In November, 2011, 00:01:24.51\00:01:26.48 Andreas Russo went to central Peru on an expedition 00:01:26.48\00:01:29.85 and discovered the boiling river for himself. 00:01:29.85\00:01:33.25 In a remote jungle, 00:01:33.25\00:01:34.59 several hours from the nearest city of Pucallpa, 00:01:34.59\00:01:37.59 guided by a local shaman, 00:01:37.59\00:01:39.43 he saw for himself the legendary boiling river. 00:01:39.43\00:01:43.67 The steaming turquoise river 00:01:43.67\00:01:45.33 is guarded by 60-foot walls 00:01:45.33\00:01:47.40 of lush green forest and vegetation, 00:01:47.40\00:01:49.50 and it stretches for almost four miles. 00:01:49.50\00:01:52.37 The water temperature ranges from 120 degrees 00:01:52.37\00:01:55.91 to a scalding 200 degrees Fahrenheit, 00:01:55.91\00:01:58.88 hot enough to poach an egg. 00:01:58.88\00:02:00.92 In some places, the water reaches 16 feet deep, 00:02:00.92\00:02:03.89 and in places, 00:02:03.89\00:02:05.22 the mud of the riverbank is too hot to even walk on. 00:02:05.22\00:02:07.72 If you fall in for even two seconds, 00:02:07.72\00:02:09.82 your skin would be covered in third-degree burns. 00:02:09.82\00:02:13.26 Frogs and small animals that fell in 00:02:13.26\00:02:15.50 have discovered this lesson the hard way. 00:02:15.50\00:02:17.90 You know, friends, 00:02:18.67\00:02:19.63 I don't know anywhere in the Bible 00:02:19.63\00:02:21.14 where it talks about a boiling river, 00:02:21.14\00:02:24.14 but the Bible does talk about a lake of fire, 00:02:24.14\00:02:28.51 and you can read about that in the Book of Revelation. 00:02:28.51\00:02:31.85 Some people talk about this as hell, 00:02:31.85\00:02:34.65 but it's typically called a lake of fire. 00:02:34.65\00:02:37.12 You read in Revelation 20:14-15, 00:02:37.12\00:02:40.92 "Then Death and Hades," 00:02:40.92\00:02:42.89 that means death in the grave, 00:02:42.89\00:02:44.46 "Were cast into the lake of fire. 00:02:44.46\00:02:47.03 "This is the second death. 00:02:47.03\00:02:48.80 "And anyone not found written in the book of life 00:02:48.80\00:02:52.30 "was cast into the lake of fire." 00:02:52.30\00:02:54.87 Now, there are a lot of misunderstandings 00:02:54.87\00:02:57.01 on the subject of the lake of fire or hell fire, 00:02:57.01\00:03:00.31 and people go to one of two extremes, 00:03:00.31\00:03:02.04 one group says there is no hell, 00:03:02.04\00:03:04.15 and the other group says that the fires of hell 00:03:04.15\00:03:07.25 are gonna torture and burn people through ceaseless ages, 00:03:07.25\00:03:10.59 never-ending, boiling, burning, brimstone. 00:03:10.59\00:03:15.46 Actually, the Bible tells us that every person 00:03:15.46\00:03:18.36 is punished according to what they deserve, 00:03:18.36\00:03:21.16 that they are burnt up. 00:03:21.16\00:03:22.56 The Bible says in Malachi, "They are turned to ashes. 00:03:22.56\00:03:25.00 "They are burnt up root in branch." 00:03:25.00\00:03:27.04 I just read in Revelation, it calls it a second death. 00:03:27.04\00:03:30.01 Jesus said, 00:03:30.01\00:03:31.34 "You either have the choice of life or you perish." 00:03:31.34\00:03:33.88 But the idea of people being tortured endlessly 00:03:33.88\00:03:37.11 in the lake of fire is not a biblical teaching. 00:03:37.11\00:03:40.55 The Bible says God is gonna make a new heaven, new earth, 00:03:40.55\00:03:42.88 where there is no more pain, 00:03:42.88\00:03:44.45 no more sorrow, no more suffering. 00:03:44.45\00:03:46.22 All things are new. 00:03:46.22\00:03:47.72 Sinners are not immortalized. 00:03:47.72\00:03:49.49 Eternal life is given to the saved, not to the lost. 00:03:49.49\00:03:53.19 The penalty for the lost is death, 00:03:53.19\00:03:55.80 punishment and death. 00:03:55.80\00:03:57.70 So many people have turned away from God 00:03:57.70\00:03:59.40 because of their misunderstandings 00:03:59.40\00:04:00.67 and the punishment of the wicked. 00:04:00.67\00:04:02.60 You really need to know what the Bible actually says. 00:04:02.60\00:04:05.81 I mean, I could go through the list of people 00:04:05.81\00:04:07.98 like Ingersoll and Karl Marx and even Darwin. 00:04:07.98\00:04:12.21 One reason they turned away from God 00:04:12.21\00:04:14.32 is because they couldn't conceive a loving God 00:04:14.32\00:04:17.25 that would torture the objects of His creation 00:04:17.25\00:04:20.19 for all eternity because of the sins of a brief lifetime. 00:04:20.19\00:04:24.53 Would you like to for the opportunity 00:05:27.89\00:05:30.59 "to study Your Word with friends like this 00:05:30.59\00:05:32.89 "and this technology that makes it possible for us 00:05:32.89\00:05:35.83 "to do this on a global level. 00:05:35.83\00:05:37.77 "I pray You'll bless this program, 00:05:37.77\00:05:39.57 "that the truth will be very clear and based on Your Word 00:05:39.57\00:05:43.41 "and just be with us all, 00:05:43.41\00:05:44.51 "we pray in Jesus' name, amen." 00:05:44.51\00:05:47.98 Wanna remind our friends, 00:05:47.98\00:05:49.34 not only can you call in with your Bible questions, the Doug Batchelor YouTube channel, 00:06:00.22\00:06:05.26 Doug Batchelor Facebook, Amazing Facts Facebook. 00:06:06.39\00:06:09.43 And we're also broadcasting this 00:06:09.43\00:06:11.50 on Amazing Facts Television right now. 00:06:11.50\00:06:14.44 So it's not only radio, 00:06:14.44\00:06:15.77 it's growing into more and more of a TV program. 00:06:15.77\00:06:18.01 And we know some of our friends at Hope Channel 00:06:18.01\00:06:20.58 and Better Life are also carrying this program. 00:06:20.58\00:06:23.65 Sometimes they're a delayed broadcast, 00:06:23.65\00:06:25.75 but the questions are still real. 00:06:25.75\00:06:29.08 So we're gonna go right to the phones now, 00:06:29.08\00:06:31.42 and got a call here from Anna in Oregon. 00:06:31.42\00:06:35.92 Anna, you're on the air with "Bible Answers Live!" 00:06:35.92\00:06:38.49 - [Anna] Good evening, Pastor Doug. 00:06:39.73\00:06:41.43 - Evening. 00:06:41.43\00:06:42.80 - [Anna] I was wondering about the passage from Matthew 7:6 00:06:42.80\00:06:46.97 pertaining to casting your pearls before swine 00:06:48.80\00:06:51.57 and are there multiple meanings to this? 00:06:51.57\00:06:54.91 - Yeah, Jesus there says something 00:06:54.91\00:06:57.01 that can be a little shocking. 00:06:57.01\00:06:58.41 He said, "Do not give that which is holy to the dogs 00:06:58.41\00:07:01.78 "unless they turn and render you 00:07:01.78\00:07:03.82 "and do not cast your pearls before swine." 00:07:03.82\00:07:07.02 I think Jesus is telling us there 00:07:10.43\00:07:13.23 that there are people that will monopolize your time 00:07:13.23\00:07:16.20 and they'll try to take you off the work 00:07:16.20\00:07:18.00 that God has called you to. 00:07:18.00\00:07:20.07 And they're never gonna change, 00:07:20.07\00:07:21.54 they have no interest in the truth, 00:07:21.54\00:07:23.47 they're not interested in repenting and reformation 00:07:23.47\00:07:26.11 and a new life. 00:07:26.11\00:07:27.34 Even John the Baptist, 00:07:28.64\00:07:29.91 when some of the hypocrites came to his baptism, 00:07:29.91\00:07:32.08 they weren't coming 'cause they wanted to be baptized, 00:07:32.08\00:07:34.08 they were spying on him. 00:07:34.08\00:07:35.45 And he said, "You brood of vipers, 00:07:35.45\00:07:37.45 "who has told you to flee from the wrath to come?" 00:07:37.45\00:07:40.19 So Jesus said, 00:07:40.19\00:07:42.12 there are people that you can spend a lot of time, 00:07:42.12\00:07:44.03 they want attention, 00:07:44.03\00:07:45.06 but they have no intention of changing, 00:07:45.06\00:07:47.60 and you can spend a lot of time studying with them 00:07:47.60\00:07:50.10 and working with them, 00:07:50.10\00:07:51.80 and there's people all around you 00:07:51.80\00:07:53.37 that are really hungry for the truth. 00:07:53.37\00:07:55.44 So when you recognize that some ground is gonna be barren, 00:07:55.44\00:07:58.94 go to where the ground is fertile, 00:07:58.94\00:08:00.51 do not cast your pearls before swine. 00:08:00.51\00:08:02.94 Your life is made of time. 00:08:04.41\00:08:06.08 And if you squander your time 00:08:06.08\00:08:07.95 and let the devil manipulate how you spend your time, 00:08:07.95\00:08:11.62 there's no shortage of people 00:08:11.62\00:08:12.72 that will just try and gobble up your time, 00:08:12.72\00:08:14.66 and there'll be nothing productive to come from it. 00:08:14.66\00:08:16.76 So it's a tough statement. 00:08:16.76\00:08:18.26 Now you asked if there's multiple meanings, possibly, 00:08:18.26\00:08:21.20 but that's, typically, the way I understand it 00:08:21.20\00:08:24.43 is that you don't give what's holy to the dogs. 00:08:25.53\00:08:28.50 And alright, now we've got Glen in Ohio. 00:08:28.50\00:08:31.04 Glen, you're on the air with "Bible Answers Live." 00:08:31.04\00:08:33.61 - [Glen] Thank you Pastor, thank you for taking my call. 00:08:34.94\00:08:37.81 A little quick about your amazing fact 00:08:37.81\00:08:40.85 that I just wanted to do that, 00:08:40.85\00:08:44.19 that the eternality, I guess, of the incorrigibly wicked, 00:08:47.06\00:08:51.99 that it is the eternal punishment, not eternal 00:08:51.99\00:08:56.06 punishing. - Very good, Glen! 00:08:58.20\00:08:59.10 - [Glen] Thank you for taking this, for listening, 00:09:00.47\00:09:02.24 but my question is about prayer. 00:09:02.24\00:09:04.64 My wife is the prayer warrior in the family, but I do pray, 00:09:04.64\00:09:07.84 I pray for thanksgiving in the safety, 00:09:07.84\00:09:09.78 and I find myself asking for a lot of things. 00:09:09.78\00:09:12.45 But my question concerning people who pray for a half hour, 00:09:13.75\00:09:18.35 some people they talk about praying for two hours. 00:09:19.65\00:09:22.39 What do people pray for for two hours? 00:09:22.39\00:09:25.73 - Okay, good. 00:09:25.73\00:09:27.10 Well, it's interesting you would ask that question, 00:09:27.10\00:09:29.26 because the length of prayer 00:09:29.26\00:09:32.37 is gonna be the topic for my worship 00:09:32.37\00:09:34.90 in our office this week. 00:09:34.90\00:09:36.91 And so, I was studying that. 00:09:36.91\00:09:38.81 It seems like when you read the prayers in the Bible 00:09:38.81\00:09:41.61 that public prayers are typically pretty short, 00:09:41.61\00:09:44.81 even the Lord's prayer. 00:09:46.21\00:09:47.92 And I don't mean where Jesus said, you know, 00:09:47.92\00:09:50.19 "Our Father, which art in heaven," 00:09:50.19\00:09:51.29 I'm talking about when Jesus prayed in John 17, 00:09:51.29\00:09:54.22 what we call the Lord's prayers, 00:09:55.42\00:09:56.52 technically the disciples prayer, 00:09:56.52\00:09:58.99 but well, Lord's prayer is very short. 00:09:58.99\00:10:01.10 John 17, even that you can read it in four or five minutes. 00:10:01.10\00:10:06.17 But then the Bible does say that pray without ceasing. 00:10:07.54\00:10:11.14 Now that doesn't mean go around on your knees 00:10:11.14\00:10:13.11 praying all the time, 00:10:13.11\00:10:14.44 it means being an attitude of communion with God. 00:10:14.44\00:10:17.91 Jesus did literally spend entire nights in prayer, 00:10:17.91\00:10:21.28 for example, before He chose the apostles 00:10:21.28\00:10:23.62 and laid His hands on them, 00:10:23.62\00:10:25.09 He spent the entire night in prayer. 00:10:25.09\00:10:27.19 So there are times where, in personal prayer, 00:10:27.19\00:10:30.33 you can spend a long time, 00:10:30.33\00:10:31.63 that doesn't mean you're constantly talking to the Lord 00:10:31.63\00:10:34.83 during those times. 00:10:34.83\00:10:36.40 Sometimes, part of prayer is you just wait on Lord, 00:10:36.40\00:10:38.67 you're bowing before Him, you're listening, 00:10:38.67\00:10:41.27 you'll think of things to say, 00:10:41.27\00:10:42.97 He might speak to your heart, 00:10:42.97\00:10:44.87 and it's almost like you're having a conversation 00:10:44.87\00:10:47.88 and the Holy Spirit is speaking to you 00:10:47.88\00:10:49.48 and you're talking to God, 00:10:49.48\00:10:50.95 you're thinking of people you wanna pray for. 00:10:50.95\00:10:53.21 I've got a friend that has a prayer list, 00:10:53.21\00:10:55.35 and he knows that he'll forget to pray for certain people 00:10:55.35\00:10:57.82 that have requested prayer. 00:10:57.82\00:10:59.42 So he makes a list 00:10:59.42\00:11:00.59 and he will go through his list with the Lord. 00:11:00.59\00:11:02.99 And I think some people actually have a ministry 00:11:05.23\00:11:07.23 and a gift for prayer that is special. 00:11:07.23\00:11:12.30 They're intercessors, they're prayer warriors, 00:11:13.40\00:11:15.17 and not everybody has that gift. 00:11:15.17\00:11:17.47 So hope that makes sense. 00:11:17.47\00:11:20.28 Public prayer should typically be short. 00:11:20.28\00:11:22.58 Jesus said the hypocrites love to pray long prayers, 00:11:22.58\00:11:25.81 but private prayers, you may want to pray longer. 00:11:25.81\00:11:28.52 In my personal prayers in the morning, 00:11:28.52\00:11:29.88 I spend more time praying than I would in a public prayer. 00:11:29.88\00:11:33.05 Hope that helps a little bit, Glen. 00:11:34.19\00:11:36.42 - [Glen] It does. 00:11:36.42\00:11:37.73 - Thank you, we sure appreciate your question, 00:11:37.73\00:11:40.06 and I appreciate also- 00:11:40.06\00:11:41.50 (indistinct) 00:11:41.50\00:11:43.77 - The effectiveness of the prayer 00:11:43.77\00:11:45.67 is really more important than how long it is. 00:11:45.67\00:11:47.37 Anyway, thank you for your answer. 00:11:47.37\00:11:49.07 - Thanks so much, God bless you, 00:11:50.77\00:11:52.67 and talking next with Pamela in Louisiana. 00:11:52.67\00:11:55.91 Pamela, you're on the air. 00:11:55.91\00:11:57.21 - [Pamela] Hello, Pastor Doug, how are you? 00:11:59.15\00:12:01.35 - Oh, I'm much better than I deserve every day. 00:12:01.35\00:12:04.29 - [Pamela] Good, (chuckling) 00:12:05.85\00:12:07.22 well, my question is, what is the special resurrection? 00:12:07.22\00:12:11.63 Is it before the first resurrection 00:12:11.63\00:12:14.56 or is it the same as the first resurrection? 00:12:15.63\00:12:18.10 - Well, I think it happens about the same time. 00:12:18.10\00:12:20.04 And for our friends listening, 00:12:20.04\00:12:21.34 when we talk about a special resurrection, 00:12:21.34\00:12:23.51 there are some people that were participating 00:12:24.61\00:12:28.21 in the crucifixion of Jesus. 00:12:28.21\00:12:30.48 And at the trial of Christ, 00:12:30.48\00:12:32.31 Jesus said, I think He said it to Caiaphas, 00:12:32.31\00:12:34.42 the high priest in Matthew, 00:12:34.42\00:12:36.55 that, "Hereafter you will see the son of man 00:12:36.55\00:12:39.02 "coming on the right hand of power." 00:12:39.02\00:12:41.56 And so Jesus was telling the high priest that he 00:12:41.56\00:12:44.93 and others who participated in crucifying Him, 00:12:44.93\00:12:49.60 you read in Revelation 1, 00:12:49.60\00:12:51.13 He's coming in the clouds, every eye will see Him, 00:12:51.13\00:12:53.84 they also which pierced Him, 00:12:53.84\00:12:56.40 so those that were involved in condemning 00:12:56.40\00:12:59.14 and crucifying Him, 00:12:59.14\00:13:00.58 they're gonna come forth in a special resurrection, 00:13:00.58\00:13:03.11 and they're gonna see that Jesus is coming 00:13:03.11\00:13:05.88 as the Conquering King. 00:13:05.88\00:13:07.88 So that's one group. 00:13:07.88\00:13:09.72 And then there'll be people, I think, 00:13:09.72\00:13:11.25 they died in the faith of the three angels message 00:13:11.25\00:13:16.32 in sharing the good news, 00:13:17.56\00:13:18.69 and God's gonna bring them forth 00:13:18.69\00:13:20.26 to see the promise fulfilled. 00:13:20.26\00:13:22.16 So you know, in the same way that there are exceptions, 00:13:23.53\00:13:26.40 most people die and they go to heaven at the resurrection 00:13:26.40\00:13:29.77 at the end of time. 00:13:29.77\00:13:31.11 But we know Enoch, Elijah, and even Moses are exceptions. 00:13:31.11\00:13:35.61 So God occasionally has exceptions. 00:13:35.61\00:13:37.81 When Jesus rose from the dead, 00:13:37.81\00:13:39.45 some of the graves around Jerusalem were opened 00:13:39.45\00:13:42.25 and many of the saints that slept were raised. 00:13:42.25\00:13:44.95 So there are exceptions, 00:13:44.95\00:13:46.59 and the Bible seems to have a couple of exceptions 00:13:46.59\00:13:49.32 regarding when He comes again. 00:13:49.32\00:13:52.03 Typically, it's gonna be the dead in Christ that rise first. 00:13:52.03\00:13:55.43 But those connected with crucifying Him 00:13:55.43\00:13:58.93 are gonna be raised to see that. 00:13:58.93\00:14:02.40 Thank you very much, Pamela, appreciate your question. 00:14:02.40\00:14:05.31 Talking next with Bradley in Minnesota. 00:14:05.31\00:14:08.44 Bradley, you are on the air with "Bible Answers Live." 00:14:08.44\00:14:12.05 - [Bradley] Hey, pastor, so I was wondering, 00:14:14.12\00:14:16.79 Jesus washed the disciples feet. 00:14:16.79\00:14:19.45 Is that something that we are supposed to literally do 00:14:19.45\00:14:22.79 to our fellow believers as a believer? 00:14:22.79\00:14:27.10 - Well, I'll tell you what, 00:14:27.10\00:14:28.10 let's look at what Jesus said, 00:14:28.10\00:14:29.86 and can I ask you a question first? 00:14:29.86\00:14:31.83 - [Bradley] Yes. 00:14:33.03\00:14:34.44 - So you understand what the Lord's supper is, communion? 00:14:34.44\00:14:37.94 - [Bradley] Yes. 00:14:37.94\00:14:39.34 - Do you think that's mandatory? 00:14:39.34\00:14:41.01 - [Bradley] I think sometimes yes. 00:14:44.88\00:14:46.95 - Okay, so yeah, 00:14:46.95\00:14:48.35 Jesus commanded that we should do that as often as we do it. 00:14:48.35\00:14:51.09 It's reaffirming our covenant with Him. 00:14:51.09\00:14:54.22 If you look in John 13, after Jesus washed their feet, 00:14:54.22\00:14:58.26 I'll look at verse 12, John 13:12. 00:14:58.26\00:15:00.33 "So when He had washed their feet and taken up His garments, 00:15:00.33\00:15:03.26 "He sat down again and He said to them," 00:15:03.26\00:15:05.83 now these are the words of Jesus, 00:15:05.83\00:15:07.64 "Do you know what I have done to you? 00:15:07.64\00:15:09.57 "You call me Lord and teacher, 00:15:09.57\00:15:11.77 "and you say well, for so I am. 00:15:11.77\00:15:14.04 "If I then your Lord and teacher have washed your feet, 00:15:14.04\00:15:17.55 "you also ought to wash one another's feet. 00:15:17.55\00:15:20.75 "For I have given you an example, 00:15:20.75\00:15:22.72 "that you should do as I have done to you." 00:15:22.72\00:15:25.75 Jesus uses the exact same wording 00:15:25.75\00:15:28.12 that He uses when He talks about the Lord's supper. 00:15:28.12\00:15:31.16 He said, "Do this in remembrance of Me." 00:15:31.16\00:15:32.79 And here He says, "Do what I've done." 00:15:32.79\00:15:35.16 So in our church, we practice foot-washing. 00:15:35.16\00:15:39.50 I know they do in a number of other churches, 00:15:39.50\00:15:41.77 the primitive Baptists and others, 00:15:41.77\00:15:43.64 they say, "Hey, this is a pretty clear command." 00:15:43.64\00:15:45.84 Now they may not do it 00:15:45.84\00:15:46.94 every time they have the Lord's Supper, 00:15:46.94\00:15:48.81 we do in our church. 00:15:48.81\00:15:50.91 And some churches have communion every week, 00:15:50.91\00:15:54.25 in our church where something like the Methodist 00:15:54.25\00:15:56.28 where they do it quarterly, 00:15:56.28\00:15:58.02 just the ideas that you wanna reaffirm that covenant. 00:15:58.02\00:16:01.32 It's important to remind ourselves of that. 00:16:01.32\00:16:04.13 But yeah, I think that the foot-washing 00:16:04.13\00:16:07.10 is a very clear command just as with the others. 00:16:07.10\00:16:11.13 Thanks so much, Bradley, for your question. 00:16:11.13\00:16:13.84 And with that we're gonna talk to Will in Canada. 00:16:13.84\00:16:17.34 Will, you're on the air with "Bible Answers Live." 00:16:17.34\00:16:19.91 - [Will] Good evening, pastor. 00:16:21.34\00:16:22.64 - Good evening. 00:16:22.64\00:16:23.71 - [Will] Thank you for answering my call. 00:16:23.71\00:16:25.41 So my question is in Genesis 3:16 00:16:26.61\00:16:29.98 and the final part of the curse on the woman, 00:16:31.42\00:16:35.49 what does it mean and is it still binding today? 00:16:36.62\00:16:39.73 - Okay, let me read this for our friends. 00:16:39.73\00:16:41.53 Genesis 3:16, this is after Adam and Eve 00:16:41.53\00:16:44.20 ate the forbidden fruit. 00:16:45.23\00:16:46.57 God then curses both the man, the woman, and the snake. 00:16:46.57\00:16:50.77 And God says to the woman, in verse 16, 00:16:50.77\00:16:53.14 "I will greatly multiply your sorrow and your conception, 00:16:53.14\00:16:56.91 "in pain you shall bring forth children." 00:16:56.91\00:16:59.65 And let me pause there first. 00:16:59.65\00:17:02.02 Is that still true? Yes. 00:17:02.02\00:17:04.65 First of all, He says your sorrow and your conception, 00:17:04.65\00:17:07.52 conception isn't birth. 00:17:07.52\00:17:09.52 Some people have equated this with morning sickness. 00:17:09.52\00:17:12.03 Sometimes when a woman conceives, 00:17:12.03\00:17:13.76 there's some sorrow and sickness in connecting with that. 00:17:13.76\00:17:17.97 "In pain you'll bring forth children." 00:17:17.97\00:17:19.70 Now of course, that's been mitigated a lot 00:17:19.70\00:17:21.30 by modern medicine, but normally, 00:17:21.30\00:17:23.17 it could be a joyful experience after the baby's born, 00:17:24.41\00:17:26.51 but it could be a very painful experience 00:17:26.51\00:17:29.38 in the delivery process. 00:17:30.55\00:17:32.88 And it says, "Your desire shall be for your husband, 00:17:32.88\00:17:35.82 "and he shall rule over you." 00:17:35.82\00:17:38.02 And that's been understood to mean 00:17:38.02\00:17:39.82 that you might naturally want to rule your husband 00:17:39.82\00:17:42.52 but he shall rule over you, 00:17:42.52\00:17:44.03 meaning that men were designed 00:17:44.03\00:17:45.73 to be the servant leaders in the family. 00:17:45.73\00:17:48.60 That's where where you get the word, house band, husband, 00:17:48.60\00:17:52.07 and men were to do providing traditionally, 00:17:52.07\00:17:55.54 they're providing and protecting. 00:17:55.54\00:17:57.84 And so, am I answering what you're asking? 00:17:57.84\00:18:00.88 - [Will] Yes please. 00:18:00.88\00:18:01.94 But it looks like the society nowadays, 00:18:01.94\00:18:05.25 women want to take the leadership. 00:18:06.35\00:18:08.65 - Yeah, well, no question about that. 00:18:09.82\00:18:13.56 The feminist movement, I think, has had a definite impact 00:18:13.56\00:18:17.79 on the church Christianity and certainly the culture. 00:18:17.79\00:18:21.56 Typically, commercials, 00:18:21.56\00:18:23.63 it's expected that if there's a couple in a commercial 00:18:23.63\00:18:26.94 and if one of 'em is to be made to look foolish, 00:18:26.94\00:18:30.01 you're only allowed to make the man look foolish. 00:18:30.01\00:18:33.31 If you make the woman look foolish 00:18:33.31\00:18:36.18 in some program or some commercial, 00:18:36.18\00:18:38.35 that's called sexism. 00:18:38.35\00:18:39.88 So it's a little different from when I grew up 00:18:39.88\00:18:41.82 and they had programs like fathers that knows best 00:18:41.82\00:18:44.05 than the traditional man being a strong leader. 00:18:44.05\00:18:47.99 A lot of the media has wussified the men in our society. 00:18:47.99\00:18:53.06 Alright, Paul in Washington state, 00:18:54.13\00:18:56.23 Paul you are on the air with "Bible Answers Live." 00:18:56.23\00:18:58.80 - [Paul] Hi, Doug. 00:19:00.14\00:19:01.20 - Hi, thanks for calling. 00:19:01.20\00:19:02.74 - [Paul] My question is, 00:19:03.94\00:19:05.31 what does the bible say anything 00:19:05.31\00:19:07.11 about why some people have a greater propensity to sin 00:19:07.11\00:19:12.18 and other people have a lesser propensity to sin? 00:19:13.68\00:19:17.15 - Well, that's a fascinating question. 00:19:18.45\00:19:20.86 First of all, answer, yes. 00:19:22.06\00:19:24.36 I think that some do, 00:19:25.39\00:19:27.10 and it's not that I think everybody's born 00:19:27.10\00:19:29.63 with a propensity to sin, 00:19:29.63\00:19:31.27 just because of our fallen natures. 00:19:32.33\00:19:34.27 But I think that in the rearing process, 00:19:34.27\00:19:37.67 based on how some parents rear their children, 00:19:37.67\00:19:40.01 if they are not taught self-discipline and 00:19:40.01\00:19:44.81 self-control, then children can grow up 00:19:44.81\00:19:47.42 and they constantly think the world revolves around them, 00:19:47.42\00:19:51.65 and selfishness, which is what sin comes from, 00:19:51.65\00:19:54.89 is very strong in their natures. 00:19:54.89\00:19:57.26 In his book, James Dobson, Dr. James Dobson, 00:19:57.26\00:20:02.23 he wrote a book about "The Strong -Willed Child." 00:20:02.23\00:20:05.30 And in his research he said, 00:20:05.30\00:20:06.67 "It seems like we are all given different characters, 00:20:06.67\00:20:10.11 "and some children simply grow up 00:20:10.11\00:20:13.58 "and they seem more willing to comply 00:20:13.58\00:20:16.31 "and to please authority, 00:20:16.31\00:20:18.55 "while others question and rebel against every rule." 00:20:18.55\00:20:22.72 And why that is, I don't know, 00:20:22.72\00:20:24.55 but I think we'd agree that even parents in the same family, 00:20:24.55\00:20:28.79 the same mother and father, 00:20:28.79\00:20:30.39 one will have a Cain, another will have an Abel. 00:20:30.39\00:20:32.86 The only biblical example I can give you is that, yes, 00:20:36.03\00:20:38.70 clearly, I think some seem to make the wrong choices. 00:20:38.70\00:20:41.80 A lot of it affects how they're raised 00:20:43.14\00:20:45.14 when they're very young. 00:20:45.14\00:20:46.34 I think it springs from that. 00:20:46.34\00:20:48.18 But good question, I appreciate that, Paul, thanks so much. 00:20:48.18\00:20:51.08 Alright, Jerry in Texas. 00:20:52.15\00:20:54.45 Jerry, welcome to "Bible Answers Live." 00:20:54.45\00:20:56.99 - [Jerry] Hey, thanks, Pastor Doug. 00:20:58.12\00:21:00.16 Quick note, I wish you guys would air your morning prayer, 00:21:00.16\00:21:04.53 meaning that you're gonna talk about the subject of prayer. 00:21:04.53\00:21:08.00 But anyway, my question is, 00:21:08.00\00:21:10.57 is that I've asked you about this, I think, two times, 00:21:10.57\00:21:14.30 and what's gonna happen in the future, 00:21:14.30\00:21:17.41 we really don't know, 00:21:17.41\00:21:18.21 God is all in compassing, 00:21:18.21\00:21:21.08 but Matthew 22:30, 00:21:21.08\00:21:23.91 when they asked about 00:21:23.91\00:21:25.05 whether there'll be marriage in heaven? 00:21:25.05\00:21:26.88 I think there are gonna be gender neutral in heaven myself, 00:21:30.52\00:21:32.92 but a six-month pregnant girl pregnant, 00:21:32.92\00:21:36.69 and Christ comes in the skies, some glory. 00:21:36.69\00:21:40.26 She's gonna be a woman for a little bit. 00:21:40.26\00:21:42.30 And just a few comments of that. 00:21:42.30\00:21:44.97 I mean, Holy Spirit gives you so much knowledge 00:21:44.97\00:21:48.34 and God bless that. 00:21:48.34\00:21:50.11 - Well, thank you so much. 00:21:50.11\00:21:51.37 But you've just touched on an area 00:21:51.37\00:21:52.57 that is somewhat mysterious. 00:21:52.57\00:21:54.61 I remember someone asked me during a live program once, 00:21:54.61\00:21:57.28 what will happen to women that are pregnant 00:21:57.28\00:21:59.11 when Jesus comes? 00:21:59.11\00:22:00.52 And I said without thinking, "They'll be delivered," 00:22:00.52\00:22:02.82 because of course, that's a play on words. 00:22:02.82\00:22:05.29 I think that probably, 00:22:09.32\00:22:10.46 they will have their baby handed to them, 00:22:10.46\00:22:12.79 a fully born, a full-term baby handed to them. 00:22:12.79\00:22:17.83 I can't imagine them going through a painful birth in 00:22:19.23\00:22:21.17 heaven with their glorified bodies, 00:22:21.17\00:22:22.90 because yeah, we get glorified bodies, 00:22:22.90\00:22:25.41 and there are some things that are mysterious 00:22:25.41\00:22:27.51 that it's hard to explain. 00:22:27.51\00:22:29.44 And you know what, if I'm there, 00:22:30.25\00:22:32.05 I'll just be happy to be there, amen. 00:22:32.05\00:22:34.72 If we're in the kingdom, no complaints from me. 00:22:34.72\00:22:38.99 I just praise the Lord to be there. 00:22:40.12\00:22:42.36 Hey, thanks so much, Jerry, appreciate your question. 00:22:42.36\00:22:45.03 - [Jerry] Oh, thank you Doug, bye. 00:22:45.03\00:22:46.80 - Good night. 00:22:46.80\00:22:48.13 All right, with that, Archie in California, 00:22:48.13\00:22:51.00 you are on the air with "Bible Answers Live." 00:22:51.00\00:22:53.30 - [Archie] Hello, pastor. 00:22:55.04\00:22:56.34 - Evening. 00:22:56.34\00:22:57.74 - [Archie] My question has to do 00:22:57.74\00:22:59.07 with people from eight years old to 80, 00:22:59.07\00:23:03.51 all during our life, we have different preferences. 00:23:05.81\00:23:09.58 Jesus said, "Love your enemies." 00:23:09.58\00:23:12.42 Well, we have people we just don't like, 00:23:12.42\00:23:15.56 others, we say we hate, maybe we do, maybe we don't. 00:23:15.56\00:23:20.63 But my question is how do you obey Jesus 00:23:21.66\00:23:25.27 and love your enemies or love the ones you don't like? 00:23:25.27\00:23:29.74 - It's very hard to do that without the Holy Spirit, 00:23:31.07\00:23:34.01 because just like you, 00:23:34.01\00:23:35.74 I've had people that have hurt me 00:23:35.74\00:23:37.35 and done things that are mean and unkind, 00:23:37.35\00:23:39.81 and then you read where Jesus says, 00:23:39.81\00:23:41.98 "I want you to love them." 00:23:41.98\00:23:43.62 For one thing, sometimes I'll pray for a person 00:23:43.62\00:23:46.69 even though I may not feel like it 00:23:46.69\00:23:48.02 because Jesus commands it. 00:23:48.02\00:23:49.86 And I find that even as I'm praying, 00:23:49.86\00:23:51.63 my heart softens towards them. 00:23:51.63\00:23:53.86 The other thing that helps me 00:23:53.86\00:23:55.40 is I realize that sometimes people do mean or unkind things 00:23:55.40\00:23:59.03 because they're lost, 00:23:59.03\00:24:00.50 and that is normal behavior for a lost person. 00:24:00.50\00:24:03.74 And if they would be saved, they'd be a lot more likable. 00:24:03.74\00:24:07.28 And so you wanna pray that these people, 00:24:07.28\00:24:09.81 the Holy Spirit will work on their lives and change them. 00:24:09.81\00:24:12.58 And I have seen folks that I didn't care much for, 00:24:12.58\00:24:16.18 I had some conflict with, 00:24:16.18\00:24:17.32 and then the Lord got ahold of their hearts, 00:24:17.32\00:24:19.45 probably also got ahold of mine. 00:24:19.45\00:24:21.52 And you end up becoming friends. 00:24:21.52\00:24:24.06 God can change people. 00:24:25.09\00:24:27.13 So I think that we're loving people to be redemptive, 00:24:27.13\00:24:31.27 'cause Jesus loved us even while we were unlovable. 00:24:32.63\00:24:35.57 Even while we were sinners, 00:24:35.57\00:24:37.64 Christ Jesus died for us. 00:24:37.64\00:24:39.37 So we're trying to be like our Master, 00:24:39.37\00:24:42.11 and that it's not always easy. 00:24:42.11\00:24:44.38 He says sometimes you're taking up a cross. 00:24:44.38\00:24:46.82 - [Jerry] Would it be possible for you 00:24:50.92\00:24:52.59 to write a booklet about this? 00:24:52.59\00:24:55.12 Well, I think everybody needs to know. 00:24:55.12\00:24:57.66 - I do have a book I just finished last year. 00:24:57.66\00:25:01.40 You may not have seen it 00:25:01.40\00:25:02.50 'cause we haven't said much about it, 00:25:02.50\00:25:03.60 but if you go to the Amazing Facts website, 00:25:03.60\00:25:06.13 I've got a book on forgiveness, 00:25:06.13\00:25:08.87 and the whole book is talking about how do you forgive, 00:25:08.87\00:25:12.14 and it talks about also how do you love some people 00:25:12.14\00:25:14.34 that are unlovable. 00:25:14.34\00:25:15.81 And if you call the Amazing Facts resource line, 00:25:15.81\00:25:18.95 that's 1800-835-6747 00:25:18.95\00:25:22.48 or simply go to #250, 00:25:22.48\00:25:24.92 you can dial pound #250 on your phone 00:25:24.92\00:25:27.29 and say you're listening to "Bible Answers Live." 00:25:27.29\00:25:29.62 And I'll will prompt you 00:25:29.62\00:25:31.03 on how you can get the offer for tonight. 00:25:31.03\00:25:33.73 And you might also be able to record 00:25:33.73\00:25:35.70 that you're looking for Pastor Doug's new book 00:25:35.70\00:25:37.97 on forgiveness. 00:25:37.97\00:25:39.40 And hopefully, that would be a blessing. 00:25:39.40\00:25:41.24 Let's see, can we get one more call in? 00:25:41.24\00:25:44.34 Nathan calling from Washington. 00:25:44.34\00:25:46.34 I think we got a young person here. 00:25:46.34\00:25:48.01 Nathan, you're on the air. 00:25:48.01\00:25:50.15 - [Nathan] Hello. 00:25:50.15\00:25:51.41 - Hi, your question. 00:25:51.41\00:25:53.28 - [Nathan] So my question is, 00:25:55.15\00:25:57.15 when did they become more than one language? 00:25:57.15\00:25:59.89 Because in Genesis 11, it talks about Babel 00:25:59.89\00:26:03.76 and how God confounded their language. 00:26:03.76\00:26:07.30 But in Genesis 10:5, it says, 00:26:07.30\00:26:09.50 "By these were the aisles of the Gentiles 00:26:09.50\00:26:11.33 "divided in their lands. 00:26:11.33\00:26:12.73 "Everyone after his tongue, 00:26:12.73\00:26:14.47 "after their families and in the nations." 00:26:14.47\00:26:16.64 When did they become more than one language? 00:26:17.71\00:26:20.71 - Okay, very good. 00:26:20.71\00:26:21.98 Well, you're right, Nathan. 00:26:21.98\00:26:23.04 They're at the Tower of Babel in Genesis 11, 00:26:23.04\00:26:25.81 they were making this tower 00:26:25.81\00:26:26.95 sort of a monument of rebellion against God, 00:26:26.95\00:26:29.92 and God confounded them. 00:26:29.92\00:26:32.09 Now, what happened is, 00:26:32.09\00:26:33.36 all of a sudden, they couldn't understand each other, 00:26:33.36\00:26:35.79 and the whole building project 00:26:35.79\00:26:38.39 just unraveled and fell apart in chaos. 00:26:38.39\00:26:41.56 People began to group together 00:26:41.56\00:26:44.67 with others they could understand. 00:26:44.67\00:26:47.84 And I think right then and there, 00:26:47.84\00:26:49.20 God just made it where some people were able to understand 00:26:49.20\00:26:52.07 and communicate in groups with others 00:26:52.07\00:26:53.81 and the main languages of the world were sort of born then. 00:26:53.81\00:26:57.45 Now language constantly changes, 00:26:57.45\00:26:59.08 and as you go around the world, 00:26:59.08\00:27:00.15 you can see examples of that. 00:27:00.15\00:27:01.72 A lot of languages are similar, but they're not the same. 00:27:01.72\00:27:05.32 I worked with the Navajo Indians, 00:27:05.32\00:27:06.86 and their tongue was very much like some Eskimos 00:27:06.86\00:27:09.89 up in Alaska, 00:27:09.89\00:27:11.49 but not like the other tribes around them. 00:27:12.59\00:27:14.63 Study of language is a fascinating business. 00:27:14.63\00:27:17.40 Well, I hope that helps a little bit Nathan, 00:27:17.40\00:27:19.00 I appreciate your question. 00:27:19.00\00:27:21.20 Friends, we're gonna take our mid-time break. 00:27:21.20\00:27:23.34 Don't go anywhere 00:27:23.34\00:27:24.44 'cause we're gonna have more Bible questions. 00:27:24.44\00:27:26.21 Just give us a call. Brent, you're on the air with "Bible Answers Live." 00:30:24.05\00:30:26.69 - [Brent] Hello, Pastor Batchelor. 00:30:27.96\00:30:29.49 Good to talk to you. 00:30:29.49\00:30:30.99 I have a little bit of a research question. 00:30:30.99\00:30:33.83 I wondered if you could explain the discrepancy in time 00:30:33.83\00:30:38.63 between Genesis 15:13 and Exodus 12:40. 00:30:38.63\00:30:43.61 In Genesis 15:13 is where God tells Abraham 00:30:45.47\00:30:48.28 that his defendants will be slaves and strangers 00:30:48.28\00:30:51.75 in a foreign country, 00:30:51.75\00:30:52.75 and that it'll be 400 years, 00:30:52.75\00:30:54.92 and Exodus 12:40, when they come out, 00:30:54.92\00:30:57.82 it's, I believe, about 430 years. 00:30:57.82\00:31:01.36 I was merely wondering about that discrepancy. 00:31:01.36\00:31:04.36 - Yeah, good question. 00:31:04.36\00:31:05.36 That's come up often 00:31:05.36\00:31:06.43 as people are reading through the Bible. 00:31:06.43\00:31:08.36 It's understood that in Exodus there, 00:31:08.36\00:31:11.30 when it says 430 years, 00:31:11.30\00:31:12.87 it's counting back from when Abraham 00:31:12.87\00:31:16.04 entered the promised land 00:31:16.04\00:31:17.14 and God first speaks to him in Genesis 12. 00:31:17.14\00:31:20.38 He is 75 years old. 00:31:20.38\00:31:22.84 The other reference is when the persecution begins. 00:31:22.84\00:31:26.85 And they're starting that from when, 00:31:26.85\00:31:28.88 Abraham was not supposed to marry Hagar, the Egyptian, 00:31:30.25\00:31:32.99 and her son Ishmael was mocking Isaac 00:31:32.99\00:31:36.26 when he was five years old, he was being weaned. 00:31:36.26\00:31:39.29 And so they market there saying 400 years 00:31:39.29\00:31:43.60 from the persecution that began with Ishmael. 00:31:43.60\00:31:48.30 And that kind of surprised me when I first read it. 00:31:48.30\00:31:50.27 But I read several scholars that say that's where it starts. 00:31:50.27\00:31:53.71 The children of Israel were not in Egypt 400 years, 00:31:53.71\00:31:57.68 and this is where a lot of people get mixed up. 00:31:57.68\00:31:59.45 They were not slaves for 400 years. 00:31:59.45\00:32:01.45 You can read where, I think, 00:32:02.25\00:32:04.15 Levi is the father or grandfather of Amram, 00:32:04.15\00:32:07.56 the father of Moses. 00:32:07.56\00:32:08.92 You don't get 400 years in those three generations. 00:32:08.92\00:32:12.29 And they were probably 200, 230 years actually 00:32:12.29\00:32:16.40 in Egypt in slavery. 00:32:16.40\00:32:18.17 But it's dating it back from when the persecution began 00:32:19.53\00:32:22.80 with Ishmael to the Exodus. 00:32:22.80\00:32:25.64 So that's the understanding that I've had, 00:32:25.64\00:32:28.71 and I think you'll find in some of the commentaries. 00:32:28.71\00:32:31.58 Thank you, Brent, and thank you for your patience. 00:32:31.58\00:32:34.22 All right, talking next with, is it Sheniqueka, in Florida. 00:32:34.22\00:32:38.05 - [Sheniqueka] Have a good night, pastor. 00:32:38.05\00:32:40.36 My question is the term 'soulmate,' 00:32:40.36\00:32:44.13 is it biblically linked or is it more of a worldly term? 00:32:44.13\00:32:48.53 - Well, I don't think you find the word soulmate 00:32:50.27\00:32:52.03 in the Bible, but the principle is there, 00:32:52.03\00:32:55.24 a particular person that God has designed for you 00:32:55.24\00:32:58.71 to be your spouse, where your souls are knit together. 00:32:58.71\00:33:03.68 And I think you can say yes. 00:33:04.48\00:33:06.58 Now when you say soulmates, 00:33:06.58\00:33:08.68 we often think about a husband and wife, 00:33:08.68\00:33:10.45 but when you read about, 00:33:10.45\00:33:12.65 there are friends in the Bible that are soulmates, 00:33:12.65\00:33:15.69 and you can read Jonathan and David, 00:33:15.69\00:33:17.33 it says their souls were knit together. 00:33:17.33\00:33:20.33 And so, you could probably easily argue, 00:33:20.33\00:33:22.90 Jonathan and David were soulmates, 00:33:22.90\00:33:24.40 and some people try and build it 00:33:24.40\00:33:26.37 into being some kind of a homosexual relationship, 00:33:26.37\00:33:30.07 which is absurd. 00:33:30.07\00:33:31.47 They were both married and very clear on that point. 00:33:31.47\00:33:34.64 But when you look at how God found a wife for Isaac, 00:33:34.64\00:33:39.55 she was specifically chosen (indistinct), 00:33:39.55\00:33:41.72 and he must have chosen with the leading of God, 00:33:43.35\00:33:47.49 because when Isaac saw her, they fell in love, 00:33:47.49\00:33:50.79 he never married another wife, and it says he loved her. 00:33:50.79\00:33:54.36 And then later you can see there's even a place 00:33:54.36\00:33:57.60 where it says that they're flirting with each other 00:33:57.60\00:33:59.87 even after they're married. 00:33:59.87\00:34:01.40 So they seem to have a great love relationship 00:34:01.40\00:34:04.51 even though they had favorites, 00:34:04.51\00:34:06.78 one favored Esau and the other one favored Jacob. 00:34:06.78\00:34:09.28 You could probably find other examples. 00:34:10.38\00:34:11.85 I think God was very particular 00:34:11.85\00:34:13.82 that Joseph was to be the husband of Mary. 00:34:13.82\00:34:18.25 And they seem to have a soulmate bond. 00:34:19.29\00:34:23.69 God shows them to be the perfect parents, 00:34:23.69\00:34:26.23 to earthly parents, I should say, to raise Jesus. 00:34:26.23\00:34:29.66 So in principle, 00:34:29.66\00:34:31.00 I think you could argue that there are some people, 00:34:31.00\00:34:32.67 their souls are knit together. 00:34:32.67\00:34:34.87 When Jesus sent out the apostles preaching, 00:34:34.87\00:34:37.57 it seems that Jesus paired up the Apostles two by two, 00:34:37.57\00:34:41.71 where he was matching their characters. 00:34:41.71\00:34:44.61 And John always seems to go out with Peter, 00:34:44.61\00:34:47.72 John, the brother of James, 00:34:47.72\00:34:48.82 I used to think, Lord, 00:34:48.82\00:34:49.95 why didn't James go out with his brother, John, 00:34:49.95\00:34:53.25 why didn't Andrew go out with Peter? 00:34:53.25\00:34:55.06 But no, Peter went with John. 00:34:55.06\00:34:57.86 And I think Jesus matched up the 12, 00:34:57.86\00:34:59.93 and he put 'em two by two based on their personality 00:34:59.93\00:35:02.60 so that they would be stronger together. 00:35:02.60\00:35:04.67 Yeah, so, great question and thank you so much. 00:35:05.77\00:35:09.27 God bless, Sheniqueka. 00:35:09.27\00:35:10.97 All right, with that, we're gonna go to Illinois 00:35:10.97\00:35:12.97 and talk with John. 00:35:12.97\00:35:14.34 John, you're on the air with "Bible Answers Live." 00:35:14.34\00:35:16.61 - [John] Good evening. - Evening. 00:35:17.55\00:35:18.91 - [John] My question is regarding Revelation 17:3-4 00:35:21.45\00:35:25.75 and the scarlet woman. 00:35:28.46\00:35:30.93 So it says that when John was taken away 00:35:32.66\00:35:36.00 in the spirit to see her, 00:35:36.00\00:35:38.07 she was taken into the wilderness, 00:35:38.07\00:35:39.63 and in Revelation 12, 00:35:39.63\00:35:41.20 God's church or God, 00:35:45.07\00:35:46.34 the woman that's dressed in the sun 00:35:46.34\00:35:49.54 was given wings to go into the wilderness. 00:35:49.54\00:35:52.88 Regarding that, I was doing a study on that, 00:35:54.85\00:35:57.85 and I was wondering, 00:35:57.85\00:35:59.72 is that the same church but corrupt 00:35:59.72\00:36:02.96 as well as the woman's color, 00:36:02.96\00:36:05.93 which she was arrayed in. 00:36:05.93\00:36:07.13 So it was purple and scarlet. 00:36:07.13\00:36:10.57 And in Exodus 39, the priest is also in that same color, 00:36:11.97\00:36:16.84 but he has the color blue. 00:36:17.64\00:36:19.57 And that's the color that represents the law, correct? 00:36:19.57\00:36:22.88 - Yeah, the Bible does say that the color blue 00:36:22.88\00:36:25.68 was to be on the hymn of the garments, 00:36:25.68\00:36:27.55 a reminder of the commandments. 00:36:27.55\00:36:29.38 Let me read this for our friends that are listening, 00:36:29.38\00:36:31.35 'cause I always like to re remember 00:36:31.35\00:36:33.76 that a lot of our listeners are driving 00:36:33.76\00:36:35.42 or they're preoccupied 00:36:35.42\00:36:36.52 and they can't always drop what they're doing 00:36:36.52\00:36:38.39 and read the Bible. 00:36:38.39\00:36:39.43 We're reading Revelation 17, 00:36:40.23\00:36:42.10 and I'll read verses three and you said four. 00:36:42.10\00:36:45.17 "So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness, 00:36:45.17\00:36:48.44 "and I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast, 00:36:48.44\00:36:51.04 "which had names full of blasphemy, 00:36:51.04\00:36:53.14 "having seven heads and 10 horns. 00:36:53.14\00:36:55.54 "And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet 00:36:55.54\00:36:57.88 "and adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls, 00:36:57.88\00:37:01.38 "having in her hand a golden cup full of abominations 00:37:01.38\00:37:04.15 "and the filthiness of her fornication." 00:37:04.15\00:37:06.32 Of course, it goes on to say, her name is 00:37:06.32\00:37:07.96 Mystery Babylon The Great, The Mother of Harlots. 00:37:07.96\00:37:10.56 So a woman in Bible analogy is a symbol for the church. 00:37:10.56\00:37:15.10 And so this woman, she is the antithesis 00:37:15.10\00:37:17.90 of the woman that you see in Revelation 12 00:37:17.90\00:37:20.47 that is clothed with the sun, moon, and stars, 00:37:20.47\00:37:22.94 all natural light. 00:37:22.94\00:37:24.61 This woman is clothed with artificial colors and adornment, 00:37:24.61\00:37:29.24 calls her a harlot. 00:37:29.24\00:37:30.55 That's pretty telltale that if she was once faithful, 00:37:31.91\00:37:34.22 she's not now. 00:37:34.22\00:37:35.82 It is true, God sometimes told his church, 00:37:35.82\00:37:38.59 he told Israel, you read the Book of Hosea, he says, 00:37:38.59\00:37:41.39 "You've played the harlot." 00:37:41.39\00:37:43.12 Whenever God's people went after other religions 00:37:43.12\00:37:46.80 or other gods or idols, 00:37:46.80\00:37:48.03 he's called it harlotry. 00:37:48.03\00:37:50.30 God said, "I'm your God, I'm your husband, 00:37:50.30\00:37:52.20 "and here you're committing adultery with these other gods." 00:37:52.20\00:37:55.50 So the woman in Revelation 12 was Christian 00:37:55.50\00:37:58.64 or has at least some illusion of being Christian, 00:37:58.64\00:38:02.31 but has compromised. 00:38:02.31\00:38:05.61 Most Protestant commentators believe 00:38:05.61\00:38:07.42 that this is speaking of the Papacy, 00:38:07.42\00:38:10.49 and the Catholic church, what happened during the dark ages 00:38:10.49\00:38:13.19 when they turned to idolatry, 00:38:13.19\00:38:14.99 of course, they had the colors, 00:38:14.99\00:38:16.76 and the cardinals are red, 00:38:16.76\00:38:18.13 and the bishops are purple, 00:38:18.13\00:38:20.06 and there's a golden cup in the hand 00:38:20.06\00:38:21.80 of the pope and the priests when they do the mass, 00:38:21.80\00:38:24.17 and virtually, all Protestant reformers 00:38:24.17\00:38:27.04 identified this woman with a Christian Church 00:38:27.04\00:38:29.60 that had compromised with the Roman religion, 00:38:29.60\00:38:32.31 hence Roman Catholicism. 00:38:32.31\00:38:34.18 And they drifted from the Bible. 00:38:35.48\00:38:37.35 Now of course, there are millions 00:38:37.35\00:38:39.08 of very faithful people in that church 00:38:39.08\00:38:41.08 living up to the light they have. 00:38:41.08\00:38:43.12 But nonetheless, 00:38:43.12\00:38:44.39 the organization has drifted from the scriptures. 00:38:44.39\00:38:46.86 So when you look in Revelation 12, 00:38:46.86\00:38:50.59 you've got this dragon, this scarlet dragon, 00:38:50.59\00:38:53.60 that is trying to devour the other woman. 00:38:53.60\00:38:55.30 Here, the woman is sitting on the dragon. 00:38:55.30\00:38:57.57 So the government of Rome tried to destroy Jesus as a baby. 00:38:57.57\00:39:02.10 That's the dragon there. 00:39:02.10\00:39:03.54 But now this woman is sitting on the dragon, 00:39:03.54\00:39:06.07 and you can also read, 00:39:06.07\00:39:07.44 it says in the last verse in chapter 17 of Revelation, 00:39:07.44\00:39:11.38 the woman that you saw is that great city 00:39:11.38\00:39:13.45 that reigns over the kings of the earth. 00:39:13.45\00:39:15.88 Well, that was Rome. 00:39:15.88\00:39:16.95 Rome had imprisoned John of Patmos. 00:39:16.95\00:39:19.59 So for friends who were hearing this for the first time, 00:39:19.59\00:39:21.82 this is nothing new with me, 00:39:21.82\00:39:23.43 this is what all Protestants used to believe. 00:39:23.43\00:39:26.09 We have a lesson we'll send you for free, 00:39:26.09\00:39:29.06 and it's called "The Other Woman." 00:39:29.06\00:39:31.50 And all you have to do is call 1800-835-6747, 00:39:31.50\00:39:34.54 1800-835-6747, 00:39:37.27\00:39:39.47 or you can do #250. 00:39:39.47\00:39:41.88 And when they answer, 00:39:41.88\00:39:42.98 say you're listening to "Bible Answers Live," 00:39:42.98\00:39:45.28 dial pound #250 on your phone. 00:39:45.28\00:39:47.32 And that's for those that are in the US 00:39:47.32\00:39:49.25 and US territories in Canada. 00:39:49.25\00:39:51.79 And we'll be happy to make these studies available to you. 00:39:51.79\00:39:55.42 I think you can even go to the Amazing Facts website 00:39:55.42\00:39:58.23 and read that study guide on Babylon, the mystery woman, 00:39:58.23\00:40:03.26 and you'll get that information. 00:40:04.07\00:40:06.43 Thank you very much, 00:40:06.43\00:40:07.50 and we're gonna go next to Chris in Florida. 00:40:07.50\00:40:12.34 Welcome, Chris, you're on the air with "Bible Answers Live." 00:40:12.34\00:40:15.84 - [Chris] Hey, pastor, thank you. 00:40:15.84\00:40:16.91 My questions on the remnant church. 00:40:16.91\00:40:19.35 And I was wondering, 00:40:19.35\00:40:20.88 is our church the remnant now before the close of probation 00:40:22.28\00:40:26.42 and the end of the three angels messages 00:40:26.42\00:40:29.06 or will we make up the remnant church 00:40:29.06\00:40:31.16 after that time has passed 00:40:31.16\00:40:32.63 and coming Sunday law is enacted? 00:40:32.63\00:40:34.66 - All right, well, let's talk about that. 00:40:35.83\00:40:37.37 When you say the word remnant church, 00:40:37.37\00:40:39.20 now this is a biblical term. 00:40:39.20\00:40:40.80 If you go to Revelation 12 and you go to the last verse, 00:40:40.80\00:40:44.47 it says there in verse 17, 00:40:44.47\00:40:45.77 "The dragon was enraged with a woman, 00:40:45.77\00:40:48.68 "and he went to make war with the remnant of her sea." 00:40:48.68\00:40:52.31 Now woman's a church, it says the remnant, 00:40:52.31\00:40:54.85 the remainder, what's left of her descendants, 00:40:54.85\00:40:57.62 that keep the commandments of God 00:40:57.62\00:40:59.42 and have the faith of Jesus. 00:40:59.42\00:41:01.02 So it's understood there by many Christians 00:41:01.02\00:41:03.19 that near the end of time, 00:41:03.19\00:41:04.49 God is going to have a faithful, remaining church. 00:41:04.49\00:41:08.30 They are gonna believe the teachings 00:41:08.30\00:41:09.90 that were once delivered to the saints. 00:41:09.90\00:41:11.93 They will return to the purity of Bible truth. 00:41:11.93\00:41:15.57 And Christ is not coming for a church 00:41:15.57\00:41:17.37 that has totally been dissolved by 00:41:17.37\00:41:20.31 and diluted by compromise, 00:41:20.31\00:41:21.88 he's coming for a church that is revived, 00:41:21.88\00:41:24.41 filled with the Holy Spirit. 00:41:24.41\00:41:26.08 They've been empowered by the latter reign. 00:41:26.08\00:41:28.78 And I believe that's a group 00:41:28.78\00:41:30.25 that is still coming together now. 00:41:30.25\00:41:32.82 But I'd say, you need to find a church 00:41:32.82\00:41:36.09 that follows the Bible the most accurately 00:41:36.09\00:41:38.79 and be part of that church 00:41:38.79\00:41:39.89 to make sure you're in the remnant church, 00:41:39.89\00:41:41.83 says she keeps the commandments of God, 00:41:41.83\00:41:43.80 they believe in all the commandments, 00:41:43.80\00:41:45.00 that means all 10, 00:41:45.00\00:41:46.47 and they have the faith of Jesus, 00:41:46.47\00:41:48.54 you read in Revelation 14:12. 00:41:48.54\00:41:50.91 Revelation 12:17, it says, 00:41:50.91\00:41:52.91 "They have the testimony of Jesus," 00:41:52.91\00:41:55.04 that means the law and the prophets, 00:41:55.04\00:41:57.01 they believe the Word of God. 00:41:57.01\00:41:59.01 Hope that helps a little bit, Chris. 00:41:59.01\00:42:01.32 Talking next to Bob in Washington. 00:42:01.32\00:42:04.65 Bob, your name is the same forward or backwards, 00:42:04.65\00:42:08.72 you're on the air with "Bible Answers Live." 00:42:08.72\00:42:11.36 - [Bob] Hello, Pastor Doug. 00:42:11.36\00:42:12.53 - Evening, how are you? 00:42:12.53\00:42:13.93 - [Bob] Not too bad, a lot better after a nap for sure. 00:42:15.26\00:42:18.40 - Okay, well, good. (laughing) 00:42:18.40\00:42:19.63 We're glad you're all rested up, 00:42:19.63\00:42:21.70 and your question tonight? 00:42:21.70\00:42:23.34 - Well, it has to do with John 9:2. 00:42:23.34\00:42:26.68 I've talked with some people who believe that that verse, 00:42:28.08\00:42:33.21 somehow they make it into, 00:42:35.35\00:42:37.19 there's this one church that talks about us 00:42:38.62\00:42:41.79 being in a premortal state kind of thing, 00:42:41.79\00:42:45.86 and so they believe that, 00:42:45.86\00:42:48.56 well, the verse says, 00:42:50.90\00:42:52.63 disciples asked him saying, "Rabbi, who's sinned, 00:42:52.63\00:42:55.07 "this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?" 00:42:56.54\00:42:58.87 So did the blind man sin before he was born? 00:42:58.87\00:43:03.35 - Right, yeah, let me explain that 00:43:03.35\00:43:05.08 for our friends that are listening, 00:43:05.08\00:43:07.12 You have to almost read the first verse. 00:43:07.12\00:43:08.62 Jesus is passing by, 00:43:08.62\00:43:10.49 he sees a man who is born blind from birth. 00:43:10.49\00:43:13.25 The disciples begin to ponder, "Why is he suffering? 00:43:13.25\00:43:15.89 "If he was born blind, 00:43:15.89\00:43:17.79 "somebody must as sinned for him to suffer like this. 00:43:17.79\00:43:21.30 "What did he do?" 00:43:21.30\00:43:22.73 And so, the disciples were speculating, 00:43:22.73\00:43:24.80 keep in mind, 00:43:24.80\00:43:26.07 the disciples, their theology was not all right, 00:43:26.07\00:43:27.70 they totally misunderstood Jesus' mission. 00:43:27.70\00:43:29.97 So you don't want to get your theology 00:43:29.97\00:43:32.61 totally from their questions, 'cause they're still learning. 00:43:32.61\00:43:36.01 And they said, "Who sinned?" 00:43:36.01\00:43:37.68 Maybe his parents sinned or maybe was it his sin? 00:43:37.68\00:43:40.62 And what they're saying is 00:43:40.62\00:43:42.32 God knew in advance this man would be sinful, 00:43:42.32\00:43:45.09 so he punished him in advance. 00:43:45.09\00:43:47.49 And then you're right, there are people 00:43:47.49\00:43:49.62 that say that you had some kind of pre-incarnation existence 00:43:49.62\00:43:53.80 and in your spirit body, you were sinning, 00:43:53.80\00:43:56.60 or in your pre incarnation, 00:43:56.60\00:43:59.83 they had some form of reincarnation. 00:44:01.04\00:44:02.90 And yeah, there is a church 00:44:02.90\00:44:04.01 that believes that you exist without a body 00:44:04.01\00:44:05.94 before this earth, that's totally unbiblical. 00:44:05.94\00:44:09.21 So the disciples are just, 00:44:09.21\00:44:10.31 they're pondering, "Who's sinned." 00:44:10.31\00:44:12.35 "Did God know he was gonna be bad 00:44:12.35\00:44:13.98 "and he punished him in advance? 00:44:13.98\00:44:15.48 "Was it his parents?" 00:44:15.48\00:44:16.95 And then Jesus answers, as it says here, 00:44:16.95\00:44:19.39 "Neither this man or his parents sinned, 00:44:19.39\00:44:21.99 "but that the works of God should be revealed," 00:44:21.99\00:44:24.09 and of course, he heals the man. 00:44:24.09\00:44:25.76 All sickness, but people that are born sick, 00:44:26.83\00:44:29.96 my brother was born with, ultimately, a terminal disease 00:44:29.96\00:44:33.70 called cystic fibrosis, 00:44:33.70\00:44:35.54 and he didn't do anything wrong, 00:44:35.54\00:44:38.21 and he struggled with it, 00:44:38.21\00:44:39.61 and my parents couldn't control their genes. 00:44:39.61\00:44:42.84 So wouldn't it be directly from their sin? 00:44:42.84\00:44:46.01 It could all be traced back to the sin of Adam 00:44:46.01\00:44:49.98 in the beginning has caused sin and sickness 00:44:49.98\00:44:53.12 and degeneration through the whole human family. 00:44:53.12\00:44:56.02 Good question, Bob, appreciate it. 00:44:56.02\00:44:57.89 Thanks so much. 00:44:57.89\00:44:59.13 And talking next to Nicholas, is that in Delaware? 00:44:59.13\00:45:02.96 Nicholas, you're on the air. 00:45:04.40\00:45:06.07 - [Nicholas] Yes. - Hi. 00:45:06.07\00:45:07.80 - [Nicholas] I have a question. 00:45:07.80\00:45:09.84 - Yes. 00:45:09.84\00:45:11.04 - [Nicholas] But when the Bible, 00:45:11.04\00:45:12.51 it says that Abraham's descendants will outnumber of 00:45:12.51\00:45:16.51 stars, does that mean the end can't come 00:45:16.51\00:45:17.95 until Abraham's descendants outnumber the stars? 00:45:17.95\00:45:20.42 - No, that, I think, is a figure of speech. 00:45:21.52\00:45:23.62 God uses allegories. 00:45:23.62\00:45:26.12 God says, "I own the cattle on a thousand hills. 00:45:26.12\00:45:28.76 "If I was hungry I would not tell you." 00:45:28.76\00:45:30.73 Well, God is not eating barbecue. 00:45:30.73\00:45:33.60 He's just saying that, "I own everything in the world." 00:45:33.60\00:45:37.60 So when God tells Abraham, 00:45:37.60\00:45:39.70 "Your descendants will be like the stars of heaven," 00:45:39.70\00:45:42.00 and other places, he says the sand on the seashore, 00:45:42.00\00:45:45.24 God is not specifically counting every grain of sand 00:45:45.24\00:45:48.41 and saying, when Abraham gets as many descendants, 00:45:48.41\00:45:50.45 well, you know how many grains of sand there are? 00:45:50.45\00:45:53.35 It's innumerable. - [Nicholas] There's a lot. 00:45:53.35\00:45:54.95 - Yeah, and how many stars are there? 00:45:54.95\00:45:56.65 They figure there's almost as many stars 00:45:56.65\00:45:58.42 as there are grains of sands, it's innumerable. 00:45:58.42\00:46:01.12 And so God is just saying 00:46:01.12\00:46:02.96 that Abraham would have so many descendants 00:46:02.96\00:46:06.49 that you wouldn't even be able to count them. 00:46:06.49\00:46:08.56 And that actually came true during the time of King David. 00:46:08.56\00:46:11.40 David wanted to number Israel, 00:46:11.40\00:46:13.64 and they never even got the whole number. 00:46:13.64\00:46:15.84 But you know, Joab said to David, 00:46:15.84\00:46:20.91 "May the Lord multiply your people a hundred times more," 00:46:22.28\00:46:25.48 but we don't even need to count them anymore, 00:46:25.48\00:46:27.05 there's so many. 00:46:27.05\00:46:28.38 So yeah, I don't think God's waiting 00:46:28.38\00:46:32.32 until he's got as many Jews in the world 00:46:32.32\00:46:35.26 as there are stars in the sky, 00:46:35.26\00:46:37.36 I think it's a figure of speech. 00:46:37.36\00:46:39.03 - [Nicholas] Okay, that's what I stopped, but thank you. 00:46:40.50\00:46:42.16 - All right, thank you, Nicholas, appreciate your call. 00:46:42.16\00:46:45.33 And with that, we're gonna talk to Isaac. 00:46:45.33\00:46:49.20 Isaac, you're on the air with "Bible Answers Live." 00:46:49.20\00:46:51.84 - [Issac] Hey, how you doing, pastor? 00:46:53.07\00:46:54.41 - Doing well. 00:46:54.41\00:46:55.34 - [Issac] Good, I had a question. 00:46:56.71\00:46:58.31 So why did God require lamb sacrifices by his people 00:46:58.31\00:47:02.98 after sin into the world? 00:47:02.98\00:47:04.92 Because obviously, before sin, there was no death. 00:47:04.92\00:47:09.99 So I was just wondering 00:47:10.66\00:47:11.99 why would he require lamb sacrifices after sin? 00:47:11.99\00:47:14.96 - Well, you're saying why would he require them after sin? 00:47:16.26\00:47:18.80 - [Issac] Yeah, after sin into the world, 00:47:19.90\00:47:21.67 wasn't he, I guess, requiring lamb sacrifices by his people? 00:47:21.67\00:47:25.47 - You can read in Revelation, it talks about the lamb 00:47:27.84\00:47:30.35 slain from the foundation of the world. 00:47:30.35\00:47:32.81 And if you look in the Garden of Eden, 00:47:32.81\00:47:34.42 when Adam and Eve first sinned, 00:47:34.42\00:47:37.12 they discovered their nakedness, 00:47:37.12\00:47:38.72 they went and got fig leaves to cover their nakedness 00:47:38.72\00:47:41.66 and to hide their shame. 00:47:41.66\00:47:43.59 God said, "That will not do." 00:47:43.59\00:47:45.86 And it says they made aprons of leaf, 00:47:45.86\00:47:50.07 the word that's in Hebrew is they made aprons, miniskirts, 00:47:50.07\00:47:53.60 and then it says God made them tunics, 00:47:53.60\00:47:56.37 those are robes, of skin. 00:47:56.37\00:47:58.77 Now, where did God get the skin? 00:47:58.77\00:48:00.84 Did God just blink his eyes, 00:48:00.84\00:48:03.48 and all of a sudden they had leather coats? 00:48:03.48\00:48:05.68 Or did God establish the sacrificial system back there 00:48:05.68\00:48:08.52 to explain that to cover their shame, 00:48:08.52\00:48:10.92 something had to die. 00:48:10.92\00:48:12.62 And those lambs or goats 00:48:12.62\00:48:15.32 that were dying in the sacrificial system, 00:48:15.32\00:48:17.23 they had to be clean animals. 00:48:17.23\00:48:18.53 They couldn't offer a skunk or a pig or anything. 00:48:18.53\00:48:21.36 The clean animals that died in the sacrificial system 00:48:21.36\00:48:24.67 were a symbol for the day when God's son would come. 00:48:24.67\00:48:27.87 What did John the Baptist say 00:48:27.87\00:48:29.17 when Jesus walked by the Jordan? 00:48:29.17\00:48:30.81 He pointed to him and said, "Behold the lamb of God 00:48:30.81\00:48:33.58 "that takes away the sin of the world." 00:48:33.58\00:48:35.54 All of those animal sacrifices 00:48:35.54\00:48:38.01 pointed to when Jesus would come, 00:48:38.01\00:48:41.25 and it was reminding them that the blood of Christ 00:48:41.25\00:48:44.02 would cover their sin. 00:48:44.02\00:48:45.95 So it was a symbol, and the God used it to educate people 00:48:45.95\00:48:51.03 about the awfulness of sin. 00:48:51.83\00:48:52.96 Does that make sense? - [Issac] Awesome, okay. 00:48:54.73\00:48:56.73 Yeah, that makes perfect sense. 00:48:56.73\00:48:58.07 I never heard anyone break it down like that, thank you. 00:48:58.07\00:49:00.44 - All right, thanks so much, appreciate your question. 00:49:00.44\00:49:02.80 And with that, we're gonna talk to Tammy in California. 00:49:02.80\00:49:06.37 Tammy, you're on the air with "Bible Answers Live." 00:49:06.37\00:49:09.48 - [Tammy] Hi, pastor. - Hi! 00:49:09.48\00:49:11.18 - [Tammy] This is Tammy from Loma Linda. 00:49:11.18\00:49:13.68 And my question is, 00:49:13.68\00:49:15.62 I know in the Bible I forgot exactly where, 00:49:15.62\00:49:18.22 but the Lord says that he had, 00:49:18.22\00:49:20.16 Jesus mentioned that he had given us power and authority 00:49:20.16\00:49:23.86 to cast out demons and to heal the sick. 00:49:23.86\00:49:26.66 - Yes, he says that in Mark 16. 00:49:27.46\00:49:29.63 He says it in several places, but one is Mark 16. 00:49:29.63\00:49:32.83 - [Tammy] Okay, and so my question is, 00:49:32.83\00:49:35.97 is that what we should be doing today? 00:49:37.01\00:49:40.84 - Well, does God still have the power, yes! 00:49:42.24\00:49:44.78 Should we still pray for people 00:49:44.78\00:49:46.15 that are harassed by the devil or sick, absolutely! 00:49:46.15\00:49:49.82 Do we have the same power the apostles had, no! 00:49:51.15\00:49:53.76 Will God pour out the Holy Spirit 00:49:54.86\00:49:56.59 before Jesus comes back and give that power again, yes! 00:49:56.59\00:50:01.43 So there are times in history 00:50:01.43\00:50:02.80 where we see God's spirit and power 00:50:02.80\00:50:04.60 moving in different waves, in different intensities. 00:50:04.60\00:50:07.70 And before Jesus comes back, 00:50:07.70\00:50:09.20 I think he's gonna pour out his spirit 00:50:09.20\00:50:11.17 in the power of Pentecost. 00:50:11.17\00:50:12.44 And you will see Christians, believers going out 00:50:12.44\00:50:16.08 doing some of the same signs and wonders that Jesus did. 00:50:16.08\00:50:19.68 Even Jesus said, "These miracles that I've done, 00:50:19.68\00:50:21.72 "greater things than these will you do 00:50:21.72\00:50:23.39 "because I go to the Father." 00:50:23.39\00:50:25.59 So I believe all that's literal. 00:50:25.59\00:50:27.99 I think even today we should be praying 00:50:27.99\00:50:29.62 that people are delivered from the devil, 00:50:29.62\00:50:32.13 when they're being harassed or possessed, 00:50:32.13\00:50:34.96 I believe that we should be praying for people who are sick. 00:50:34.96\00:50:37.20 And I've seen miracles. 00:50:37.20\00:50:39.80 Just this last week someone asked me to pray for somebody 00:50:39.80\00:50:43.27 that was in very dire condition in ICU. 00:50:43.27\00:50:47.44 Last report I got is they had improved 00:50:47.44\00:50:49.78 and they're out of ICU. 00:50:49.78\00:50:51.45 Now, it doesn't mean it happened instantly, 00:50:51.45\00:50:53.05 but I believe God heard the prayer. 00:50:53.05\00:50:55.22 So yes, we should be praying more. 00:50:55.22\00:50:57.92 Thanks so much, Tammy. 00:50:57.92\00:50:59.42 We're gonna talk to Jasmine in Texas. 00:50:59.42\00:51:02.19 Jasmine, you're on the air with "Bible Answers Live." 00:51:02.19\00:51:05.16 - [Jasmine] Hi, this is Jasmine. 00:51:05.16\00:51:06.66 Thank you so much for taking my call. 00:51:06.66\00:51:08.60 - Yeah. 00:51:08.60\00:51:09.50 - [Jasmine] I was wondering, 00:51:10.43\00:51:12.27 my family and I have the conviction 00:51:12.27\00:51:14.97 and know that we are called to live in the country, 00:51:14.97\00:51:20.04 and we've been praying about it, but we don't know, 00:51:21.81\00:51:26.45 how do you know when God is telling you where? 00:51:26.45\00:51:30.09 Because I know that if we're being led by God, 00:51:30.09\00:51:33.36 then we won't fail, 00:51:33.36\00:51:34.39 but I don't know where he's leading us. 00:51:34.39\00:51:36.52 How do you know that? 00:51:36.52\00:51:37.33 - Well, that's a great question, 00:51:37.33\00:51:38.39 and it's a very important question. 00:51:38.39\00:51:39.96 You don't wanna make the wrong decision. 00:51:39.96\00:51:42.00 And I would say don't do anything unless you do know, 00:51:42.00\00:51:45.73 with confidence, that God has opened the door. 00:51:45.73\00:51:48.00 First, let me tell you, there is a free booklet 00:51:49.24\00:51:52.41 that you can download or request from Amazing Facts, 00:51:52.41\00:51:55.71 and it's called "Determining the Will of God." 00:51:55.71\00:51:58.21 And I give 12 points in that book, 00:51:58.21\00:52:00.95 biblical principles about how do we know God's will 00:52:00.95\00:52:04.09 in a question, 00:52:04.09\00:52:05.15 not whether we should kill or not kill, 00:52:05.15\00:52:07.19 I mean, there's sometimes many good choices. 00:52:07.19\00:52:09.19 We wonder how do I know what God wants me to do? 00:52:09.19\00:52:11.66 So that book is called "Determining the Will of God." 00:52:12.93\00:52:15.20 You can just go to amazingfacts.org, 00:52:15.20\00:52:17.93 look in our free library, 00:52:17.93\00:52:19.03 you can download that and read it, 00:52:19.03\00:52:21.24 or you can call 1800-835-6747 and request it. 00:52:21.24\00:52:26.31 But I would look for providential openings. 00:52:27.41\00:52:30.88 You wanna make sure 00:52:32.08\00:52:33.15 before you're gonna move to another country, 00:52:33.15\00:52:34.68 you've got income. 00:52:34.68\00:52:36.22 The Bible tells us to look ahead, 00:52:36.22\00:52:38.92 be wise in decisions that you make. 00:52:38.92\00:52:41.62 And God doesn't always ask us 00:52:41.62\00:52:44.19 to just recklessly step out in faith, 00:52:44.19\00:52:46.83 I've known some dear people that said, 00:52:46.83\00:52:48.16 "I feel like I need to move the country." 00:52:48.16\00:52:49.86 And they quit their good jobs, 00:52:49.86\00:52:51.60 they moved off with no training or experience. 00:52:51.60\00:52:54.70 They realized that they had bought the wrong piece of land, 00:52:54.70\00:52:57.91 and they came back to the city bankrupt. 00:52:57.91\00:52:59.94 It was very sad, I've seen it happen a few times. 00:52:59.94\00:53:02.38 So, plan carefully, 00:53:02.38\00:53:05.01 and make sure God's leading you, 00:53:05.01\00:53:07.02 and that not only does God show you what he wants you to do, 00:53:07.02\00:53:09.75 sometimes he has you wait until the right time. 00:53:09.75\00:53:12.65 I mean, look how long he had Moses wait for his big mission 00:53:14.02\00:53:16.93 in Abraham to have son with Sarah. 00:53:16.93\00:53:19.66 So, be patient, 00:53:19.66\00:53:21.50 and say, "Lord, we're willing to do your will." 00:53:21.50\00:53:23.30 Now here's the promise, once we tell the Lord 00:53:23.30\00:53:27.17 we are willing to do whatever he wants, 00:53:27.17\00:53:29.64 he then becomes responsible to show us. 00:53:29.64\00:53:32.91 If we are seeking, 00:53:32.91\00:53:34.04 we're knocking, we're praying, we're asking, 00:53:34.04\00:53:35.78 he will show us. 00:53:35.78\00:53:37.61 And so, get Christian counsel, 00:53:37.61\00:53:40.72 look for providential openings, 00:53:40.72\00:53:42.72 the leadings of the Holy Spirit, 00:53:42.72\00:53:44.52 most importantly, look in the word, 00:53:44.52\00:53:46.65 and you'll find guidance in the principles 00:53:46.65\00:53:48.82 that are in the Word of God, 00:53:48.82\00:53:50.33 and download that book, "Determining the Will of God." 00:53:50.33\00:53:52.86 And I think you'll be blessed by that. 00:53:52.86\00:53:54.93 Thank you, Jasmine, we appreciate your question. 00:53:54.93\00:53:58.20 Now for our friends that are listening, 00:53:58.20\00:54:00.87 you know we're starting to come to the tail end 00:54:00.87\00:54:02.77 of the radio program right now. 00:54:02.77\00:54:05.47 And I like to just explain to people that when we sign off, 00:54:05.47\00:54:08.18 we are both on satellite across the country, 00:54:08.18\00:54:10.61 satellite radio, 00:54:10.61\00:54:11.88 and we're on land-based stations, 00:54:11.88\00:54:13.42 they operate on a different clock, 00:54:13.42\00:54:15.48 but we don't wanna lose any of our time. 00:54:15.48\00:54:17.35 So what we do is we sign off in two stages. 00:54:17.35\00:54:20.09 After we sign off with our satellite stations, 00:54:21.52\00:54:24.26 don't go away, 00:54:24.26\00:54:25.29 you're gonna hear me come back, 00:54:25.29\00:54:27.23 and I'm gonna answer some internet questions that came in. 00:54:27.23\00:54:30.67 And if you ever have any internet questions, 00:54:30.67\00:54:32.77 some people say, 00:54:32.77\00:54:34.10 "I've got a question, but I'm afraid to get on the air." 00:54:34.10\00:54:37.07 Some people get nervous calling in a live program, don't be. 00:54:37.07\00:54:40.64 But if you are, you can email us a question. 00:54:40.64\00:54:43.58 Just go to Amazing Facts, 00:54:43.58\00:54:45.61 and I think there you'll see Amazing Facts, 00:54:45.61\00:54:47.78 it'll be \bibleanswerslive.org. 00:54:47.78\00:54:52.55 And you can submit Bible questions there, 00:54:52.55\00:54:55.02 just even if you go to the amazingfacts.org channel, 00:54:55.02\00:54:59.69 you'll see there where you can submit a Bible question. 00:54:59.69\00:55:02.46 And for those of you that are bidding us farewell, 00:55:02.46\00:55:05.67 driving down the road, God bless you, 00:55:05.67\00:55:07.57 we look forward to studying with you again next week. 00:55:07.57\00:55:09.84 For the others, standby. 00:55:09.84\00:55:11.31 (energetic music) 00:55:12.67\00:55:15.01 - [Narrator] Thank you for listening to today's broadcast. 00:55:15.01\00:55:17.48 We hope you understand your Bible even better than before. 00:55:17.48\00:55:21.12 "Bible Answers Live" 00:55:21.12\00:55:22.48 is produced by Amazing Facts International, 00:55:22.48\00:55:25.32 a faith-based ministry located in Granite Bay, California. 00:55:25.32\00:55:29.52 - We are back, friends, 00:55:31.13\00:55:32.49 with some of the internet questions that have come in, 00:55:32.49\00:55:34.73 and thanks for standing by. 00:55:34.73\00:55:36.50 And let's start with Talora, 00:55:36.50\00:55:39.23 would like to know if we will still have our old thoughts 00:55:39.23\00:55:42.47 when Christ returns and we are changed. 00:55:42.47\00:55:45.57 The Bible tells us in the book of Isaiah, 00:55:45.57\00:55:47.88 says, "The former will not be remembered or come into mind," 00:55:47.88\00:55:50.98 and he doesn't mean you're brainwashed 00:55:50.98\00:55:52.75 so you don't remember that Jesus has saved you, 00:55:52.75\00:55:55.18 but the former painful memories that we have, 00:55:55.18\00:55:58.79 those things are gonna be eclipsed 00:55:58.79\00:56:00.29 by the everlasting glory and bliss of heaven. 00:56:00.29\00:56:03.12 You won't need to worry about that there. 00:56:03.12\00:56:05.03 And so, no, 00:56:05.03\00:56:06.36 you don't have to worry about the painful memories. 00:56:06.36\00:56:08.40 And keep in mind, as time goes by, time is healing, 00:56:08.40\00:56:12.20 our minds are gonna be so full 00:56:12.20\00:56:14.40 of the incredible experiences of heaven 00:56:14.40\00:56:17.17 that all of the painful things of this world 00:56:17.17\00:56:19.91 are gonna just be crowded out, 00:56:19.91\00:56:21.78 and we're gonna be looking forward. 00:56:21.78\00:56:23.28 Paul said, 00:56:23.28\00:56:24.58 "Forgetting those things that are behind, I press on." 00:56:24.58\00:56:27.05 Through eternity, the only reminder of sin 00:56:27.05\00:56:30.15 will be the scars in Jesus' hand 00:56:30.15\00:56:32.32 for what he paid for us. 00:56:32.32\00:56:34.12 Kyle would like to know, 00:56:34.12\00:56:35.86 how will we know when it's Sabbath in the new earth 00:56:35.86\00:56:38.03 if there'll be neither day or night? 00:56:38.03\00:56:40.76 Well, it doesn't say there'll be no day or night, 00:56:40.76\00:56:43.06 it's talking about the new Jerusalem. 00:56:43.06\00:56:44.73 It says there is no need of the sun in the new Jerusalem 00:56:44.73\00:56:48.74 'cause the presence of God is there. 00:56:48.74\00:56:50.91 And the Bible says God is light. 00:56:50.91\00:56:54.31 The people sometimes say, 00:56:54.31\00:56:55.54 when God began creating the world, 00:56:55.54\00:56:58.51 he said, "Let there be light," 00:56:58.51\00:56:59.65 but he doesn't make the sun till the fourth day, 00:56:59.65\00:57:02.45 but he has day and night before he makes the sun. 00:57:02.45\00:57:06.86 How do you have day and night? 00:57:06.86\00:57:08.32 Well, God, he set the planet spinning, 00:57:08.32\00:57:11.99 whatever side of the planet was aiming the glory of God, 00:57:11.99\00:57:15.20 Bible tells us in Mark 9, 00:57:15.20\00:57:17.57 in the Mount of Transfiguration, 00:57:17.57\00:57:18.70 "The glory of Jesus was brighter than the sun." 00:57:18.70\00:57:23.17 And you can read in Malachi, it says, 00:57:23.17\00:57:24.71 "Then the son of righteousness 00:57:24.71\00:57:26.34 "will arise with healing in his wings." 00:57:26.34\00:57:28.58 So the light of God will illuminate the city, 00:57:28.58\00:57:32.11 but the world will still have a day and a night, 00:57:32.11\00:57:34.25 and there'll still be weeks, 00:57:34.25\00:57:35.98 and it says from one Sabbath to another, 00:57:35.98\00:57:37.82 all flesh will come in worship before him. 00:57:37.82\00:57:40.29 Nelly from Kenya asks 00:57:40.29\00:57:42.19 if it's acceptable to use family planning methods. 00:57:42.19\00:57:45.76 Without going into detail, I would say yes, 00:57:46.96\00:57:49.96 The Bible tells us, 00:57:49.96\00:57:51.33 "Do not build a tower if you are not able to complete it." 00:57:51.33\00:57:55.07 And if you cannot afford to rear a family, 00:57:55.07\00:57:57.47 educate, and be a good father or mother, 00:57:57.47\00:58:00.08 then you ought to plan accordingly. 00:58:00.08\00:58:02.31 But I don't believe in abortion. 00:58:02.31\00:58:04.18 I think that what you should do then is prevention. 00:58:04.18\00:58:07.12 And I won't go into detail there. 00:58:07.12\00:58:08.78 Hey, friends, there's so much more
