(uplifting music) 00:00:00.66\00:00:03.20 - [Announcer] It is the best-selling book in history. 00:00:03.20\00:00:05.80 No volume ever written has been more loved and quoted. 00:00:05.80\00:00:09.87 And its words, sometimes simple and sometimes mysterious, 00:00:09.87\00:00:13.84 should always be studied carefully. 00:00:13.84\00:00:16.61 It is the Bible, the Word of God. 00:00:16.61\00:00:19.95 Welcome to "Bible Answers Live", 00:00:19.95\00:00:22.75 providing accurate and practical answers 00:00:22.75\00:00:25.25 to all your Bible questions. 00:00:25.25\00:00:27.56 This broadcast is a previously recorded episode. 00:00:28.82\00:00:31.49 To receive any of the Bible resources mentioned 00:00:31.49\00:00:34.00 in this broadcast, call 800-835-6747. 00:00:34.00\00:00:38.97 Once again, that's 800-835-6747. 00:00:39.87\00:00:44.17 Now here's your host from Amazing Facts International, 00:00:45.64\00:00:48.31 Pastor Doug Bachelor. - Hello friends. 00:00:48.31\00:00:51.05 Would you like to hear an amazing fact? 00:00:51.05\00:00:54.28 They live in total darkness in oceans thousands 00:00:54.28\00:00:57.42 of feet deep, where the water pressure's extreme. 00:00:57.42\00:01:00.59 Glass sponges must be some of the world's 00:01:00.59\00:01:03.19 most bizarre, multicellular animals. 00:01:03.19\00:01:06.59 These creatures have a lattice-like layer of tissue 00:01:06.59\00:01:09.10 surrounding a skeleton made of a matrix 00:01:09.10\00:01:11.87 of interweaving silica spines. 00:01:11.87\00:01:14.34 Silica, that's right. It's an animal made of glass. 00:01:14.34\00:01:18.91 Scientists have found the unique lattice structure 00:01:18.91\00:01:21.44 of the glass sponge is significantly stronger 00:01:21.44\00:01:24.51 than any pattern currently used by building engineers. 00:01:24.51\00:01:28.15 One researcher said, "It's sort of the holy grail 00:01:28.15\00:01:31.25 of engineering design." 00:01:31.25\00:01:33.29 Additionally, the glass threads grown by these sponges work 00:01:33.29\00:01:36.89 like fiber-optic lines, conducting and bending light. 00:01:36.89\00:01:41.43 One of the most astonishing aspects of the glass sponges 00:01:41.43\00:01:44.63 is that while they grow very slowly, 00:01:44.63\00:01:46.70 they don't appear to age. 00:01:46.70\00:01:48.84 Theoretically, if not eaten by starfish 00:01:48.84\00:01:51.24 or destroyed by fishing nets, 00:01:51.24\00:01:53.04 they're capable of living for thousands of years. 00:01:53.04\00:01:56.71 I tell you, Pastor Ross, when you look at the intricacies 00:01:56.71\00:01:59.61 and the design and the engineering in the symmetry 00:01:59.61\00:02:02.65 that you see in these animals, these creatures, 00:02:02.65\00:02:06.25 then it's more evidence that this could never have happened 00:02:06.25\00:02:10.39 by some biological accident, there clearly 00:02:10.39\00:02:13.03 is an intelligent, brilliant, genius designer 00:02:13.03\00:02:17.07 behind what you see in creation. 00:02:17.07\00:02:19.37 - That's right Pastor Doug, and it's not just 00:02:19.37\00:02:21.20 the amazing complexity of these various creatures, 00:02:21.20\00:02:24.94 but just the beauty, I mean, we were looking 00:02:24.94\00:02:26.68 at some pictures of the glass sponge, 00:02:26.68\00:02:29.31 just the perfect symmetry and how they can reflect 00:02:29.31\00:02:32.35 and transmit the light, is just amazing. 00:02:32.35\00:02:36.05 And of course, there's other creatures that they found 00:02:36.05\00:02:38.19 way deep in the ocean that actually have these neon, 00:02:38.19\00:02:42.46 glowing, whatever it is. 00:02:42.46\00:02:44.06 - Bioluminescent, they flash. 00:02:44.06\00:02:47.10 You know, there's even a verse in the Bible 00:02:47.10\00:02:48.63 that talks about this in Psalm 107:24, 00:02:48.63\00:02:51.67 David here is talking about people that go to sea, 00:02:51.67\00:02:54.30 and he says, "They see the works of the Lord 00:02:54.30\00:02:57.57 and His wonders in the deep." 00:02:57.57\00:02:59.91 So not only on the land and in the sky, 00:02:59.91\00:03:01.98 but in the deep you can see the Hand of God. 00:03:01.98\00:03:05.38 And maybe our friends would like to know more 00:03:05.38\00:03:07.42 about that Creator that has that miraculous ability. 00:03:07.42\00:03:11.25 - We have a book, it's called Amazing Wonders of Creation. 00:03:11.25\00:03:14.26 It's a free gift to anyone that is watching. 00:03:14.26\00:03:16.83 All you need to do is call the number 800-835-6747. 00:03:16.83\00:03:21.56 You can ask for offer number 116. 00:03:21.56\00:03:24.00 We'll be happy to send it to you. 00:03:24.00\00:03:25.47 You can also ask for this gift by name. 00:03:25.47\00:03:27.77 It's called Amazing Wonders of Creation. 00:03:27.77\00:03:30.01 And then Pastor Doug, we're doing something 00:03:30.01\00:03:31.74 a little different, you can also request the gift simply 00:03:31.74\00:03:34.54 by dialing on your cell phone #250 and then you'd say 00:03:34.54\00:03:39.51 "Bible Answers Live," it'll prompt you, you say, 00:03:39.51\00:03:41.55 "Bible Answers Live," and you'll be able to receive the gift 00:03:41.55\00:03:44.45 that way as well, just #250 or 800-835-6747, 00:03:44.45\00:03:48.12 and that's to receive the free gift. 00:03:49.72\00:03:51.83 If you have a Bible question, our phone lines are now open. 00:03:51.83\00:03:54.66 The number here to the studio is 800-463-7297. 00:03:54.66\00:03:59.40 That's 800-GOD-SAYS, 463-7297. 00:03:59.40\00:04:04.21 Well, we have some folks lined up, 00:04:04.21\00:04:05.54 but before we go to the phone, as we always do, 00:04:05.54\00:04:07.41 we like to start the program with prayer. 00:04:07.41\00:04:10.01 Dear Father, we thank You for this opportunity once again, 00:04:10.01\00:04:12.35 to be able to open up Your word and study the Bible. 00:04:12.35\00:04:15.75 Lord, Your word is a light to our path. It reveals truth. 00:04:15.75\00:04:19.29 And Jesus said, "You shall know the truth 00:04:19.29\00:04:21.09 and the truth will set you free," we wanna be set free 00:04:21.09\00:04:23.83 in a clear understanding of Your word, 00:04:23.83\00:04:25.56 so bless this program, be with those who are listening 00:04:25.56\00:04:27.56 wherever they might be, in Jesus' name, amen. 00:04:27.56\00:04:30.67 Our first call of this evening, we've got Anthony listening 00:04:32.00\00:04:33.64 in New York, Anthony, welcome to the program. 00:04:33.64\00:04:36.30 - [Anthony] Yes, good evening pastors. 00:04:38.01\00:04:40.28 - Evening. 00:04:40.28\00:04:41.84 - [Anthony] I'm actually asking this question on behalf 00:04:41.84\00:04:43.24 of my wife, she was reading first John, chapter five 16. 00:04:43.24\00:04:48.32 It says, "If any man see his brother sin a sin, 00:04:49.42\00:04:53.52 which is not unto death, he shall ask 00:04:54.62\00:04:56.86 and he shall give him life for them that sin 00:04:56.86\00:04:59.56 not unto death, there is a sin not unto death. 00:04:59.56\00:05:03.30 I do not say that he shall pray for it." 00:05:03.30\00:05:05.70 And then in verse 17, it says, 00:05:05.70\00:05:06.80 "All unrighteousness is sin and there is a sin 00:05:06.80\00:05:10.64 not unto death," so what exactly is the sin not unto death? 00:05:10.64\00:05:15.71 And that's what the assumption that all sin leads to death, 00:05:17.08\00:05:18.81 based on what the Bible says, as well. 00:05:18.81\00:05:21.48 - Right, well, the penalty for sin is death. 00:05:21.48\00:05:24.95 And so, he's talking about interceding here for some sin 00:05:24.95\00:05:29.89 that cannot be forgiven. 00:05:30.86\00:05:32.49 Jesus tells us, really the only sin that cannot be forgiven 00:05:32.49\00:05:35.56 is the unpardonable sin, now I've heard some of the scholars 00:05:35.56\00:05:39.63 and theologians have gone through the 10 Commandments 00:05:39.63\00:05:41.84 and they say that, well, you know, there was, 00:05:41.84\00:05:44.01 according to Jewish law, breaking some 00:05:44.01\00:05:46.07 of the 10 Commandments carried a death penalty. 00:05:46.07\00:05:48.61 While, you know, stealing or lying, 00:05:48.61\00:05:51.48 you might suffer the consequences in court, 00:05:51.48\00:05:54.88 but it wasn't the death penalty. 00:05:54.88\00:05:57.02 So I've heard people try to approach that verse that way, 00:05:57.02\00:06:00.76 and you see folks in the Bible that interceded in behalf 00:06:02.09\00:06:04.96 of others that were guilty of sin and God hears their prayer 00:06:04.96\00:06:09.43 and defends them or delivers them, but typically, 00:06:09.43\00:06:13.67 it's thought to be the blasphemy against the Holy Spirit 00:06:13.67\00:06:16.10 is that sin that cannot be forgiven. 00:06:16.10\00:06:19.57 - And if you want to add to that a little more, 00:06:19.57\00:06:21.01 any sin that is unrepentant leads to death. 00:06:21.01\00:06:24.88 - [Doug] That's right. - So the only way that sin 00:06:24.88\00:06:26.65 can be forgiven is we wanna repent of those sins. 00:06:26.65\00:06:29.62 So if there is somebody that has sinned and yet, 00:06:29.62\00:06:32.15 they have a repentant heart, 00:06:32.15\00:06:34.16 then that's a sin that does not lead to death. 00:06:34.16\00:06:36.76 - [Doug] That's right. - But if they have 00:06:36.76\00:06:38.06 a hard heart, a rebellious heart, then they're 00:06:38.06\00:06:40.83 in danger of committing the unpardonable sin or blasphemy 00:06:40.83\00:06:43.33 against the Holy Spirit, does that make sense, Anthony? 00:06:43.33\00:06:46.43 - [Anthony] Yes, it does. I believe so. Thank you. 00:06:48.20\00:06:50.71 - All right, well hey, thanks so much for your call tonight. 00:06:50.71\00:06:53.54 - You know, we do have a book, Pastor Doug, 00:06:53.54\00:06:54.88 that's called Can a Saved Man Choose to be Lost, 00:06:54.88\00:06:56.91 and I think it talks about the unpardonable sin 00:06:56.91\00:06:58.98 in that book, the number to call for that again, 00:06:58.98\00:07:01.28 is 800-835-6747, we'll be happy to send it to you 00:07:01.28\00:07:05.09 if you're in the United States or Canada. 00:07:05.09\00:07:07.89 If you're outside the US or Canada, 00:07:07.89\00:07:09.52 you can always go to our website, just amazingfacts.org. 00:07:09.52\00:07:13.50 Click on the free library and you'll be able to read 00:07:13.50\00:07:15.36 it there, and then the new way that you can request 00:07:15.36\00:07:17.97 our gifts, is dial #250 on your cell phone and ask 00:07:17.97\00:07:22.57 or mention the name Bible Answers Live 00:07:22.57\00:07:25.24 and you'll be able to order the book that way. 00:07:25.24\00:07:27.48 Our next caller that we have is Philip listening 00:07:27.48\00:07:29.28 in Arkansas, Philip, welcome to the program. 00:07:29.28\00:07:31.75 - [Philip] Thank you pastors, for doing this show, 00:07:31.75\00:07:33.42 I hope you guys are as blessed as we are listening 00:07:33.42\00:07:36.12 to this every week. - Oh, it's a joy. 00:07:36.12\00:07:38.99 - [Philip] Just to clarify on Anthony's question 00:07:40.76\00:07:43.26 real quick though, why does it say that we have 00:07:43.26\00:07:45.86 to distinguish between praying for someone that is sinning, 00:07:45.86\00:07:50.30 but they have a repentant heart versus them not having 00:07:50.30\00:07:54.17 a repentant heart, how are we to make that decision? 00:07:54.17\00:07:57.34 - Well, I think that sometimes you can tell if a person 00:07:57.34\00:08:01.14 is asking for mercy or they're turning to the Lord. 00:08:01.14\00:08:04.45 Other people, they say, "I don't want God in my life." 00:08:04.45\00:08:07.88 And they're turning from the Lord. 00:08:07.88\00:08:10.39 - You know, the Bible says by their fruits, 00:08:10.39\00:08:11.89 he shall know them. 00:08:11.89\00:08:13.62 Jesus spoke about the Pharisees, he said, or actually, 00:08:13.62\00:08:16.12 John the Baptist said, "Bring forth fruits worthy 00:08:16.12\00:08:18.73 of repentance," in other words, 00:08:18.73\00:08:20.86 Pharisees were unwilling to acknowledge this 00:08:20.86\00:08:23.26 and they were unwilling to repent, so we don't know 00:08:23.26\00:08:26.60 the heart, but we can tell by the actions, by the attitude, 00:08:26.60\00:08:29.70 if it is a genuine repentance or a willingness 00:08:29.70\00:08:33.27 for repentance. - [Philip] So in some sense, 00:08:33.27\00:08:36.34 we do stop praying for someone once they reach that point, 00:08:36.34\00:08:39.25 it says that we shouldn't pray for them anymore. 00:08:39.25\00:08:42.25 - You know, the Bible tells us, not only is there a time 00:08:42.25\00:08:44.59 where you might not be praying for somebody, 00:08:44.59\00:08:47.12 you've got places in the Bible where David is praying 00:08:48.46\00:08:50.63 that God will take vengeance on his enemies. 00:08:50.63\00:08:53.33 So I know that's pretty severe, we usually 00:08:53.33\00:08:54.83 don't preach sermons on that, but it is in the Psalms. 00:08:54.83\00:08:58.13 - [Philip] Yeah, that's fascinating. 00:08:59.80\00:09:01.90 Back to my question real quick, in Matthew 10, 00:09:01.90\00:09:04.21 I had a question when Jesus sends the 12 disciples 00:09:04.21\00:09:06.51 out to the lost sheep of the House of Israel, 00:09:06.51\00:09:09.34 he tells them they're gonna be going from town to town. 00:09:09.34\00:09:11.91 Why does he say in verse 23 that you won't have gone 00:09:11.91\00:09:14.92 through all the towns until the Son of Man comes? 00:09:14.92\00:09:17.85 - If you were to take that even literally right now, 00:09:17.85\00:09:20.59 Israel is one of the hardest places in the world 00:09:21.86\00:09:24.39 to do evangelism, you are not allowed right now 00:09:24.39\00:09:27.50 to do public evangelism in Israel. 00:09:27.50\00:09:29.90 We are on TV there, I think, just because a lot of TVs pick 00:09:31.27\00:09:34.14 up satellite and so Amazing Facts is on TV in Israel 00:09:34.14\00:09:36.84 and many places in the Middle East, but if you do 00:09:36.84\00:09:39.67 any proselytizing in Israel, they'll invite you to leave 00:09:39.67\00:09:43.48 the country or at least cease and desist. 00:09:43.48\00:09:45.81 So, certainly I think there's gonna be a revival 00:09:45.81\00:09:48.75 among the Jews before Jesus comes, I hope and pray for that. 00:09:48.75\00:09:52.75 That has not happened yet. 00:09:53.72\00:09:55.99 - And then I've also, if you wanna look at it 00:09:55.99\00:09:57.83 as in a symbolic sense, there is a work of evangelism. 00:09:57.83\00:10:01.20 There is a call for repentance amongst those who profess 00:10:01.20\00:10:03.77 to be the followers of God. 00:10:03.77\00:10:05.63 You've got spiritual Israel in the Bible, 00:10:05.63\00:10:07.50 you've got literal Israel, you've got spiritual Israel. 00:10:07.50\00:10:09.97 There is a work of reformation that needs to take place 00:10:09.97\00:10:13.01 within the church, if you look at Christianity 00:10:13.01\00:10:14.94 as a whole today, I think with all of the various doctrines 00:10:14.94\00:10:17.98 and teachings and contradictions, there is 00:10:17.98\00:10:21.78 definitely a work of preaching the truth of the Word of God, 00:10:21.78\00:10:24.15 even to those who profess to be Christians 00:10:24.15\00:10:26.92 and in Christian countries, so you've got the literal 00:10:26.92\00:10:28.99 application of Israel as Pastor Doug mentioned, 00:10:28.99\00:10:30.96 but I think you've also got the spiritual application. 00:10:30.96\00:10:33.63 And if you look at the three angels' messages, 00:10:33.63\00:10:35.86 the second angel's message says, "Babylon has fallen, 00:10:35.86\00:10:38.33 has fallen," we understand Babylon to be representative 00:10:38.33\00:10:41.54 of a religious system claiming to be Christian, 00:10:41.54\00:10:45.17 and yet it has fallen from the truths of God's Word. 00:10:45.17\00:10:47.28 So there is a call, there is a preaching 00:10:47.28\00:10:48.98 even to profess Christians. 00:10:48.98\00:10:50.91 - Yeah and some of the apostles, they write their letters 00:10:52.58\00:10:54.58 to the 12 tribes, well there were not 12 tribes at that time 00:10:54.58\00:10:57.62 and they may have been using it as 00:10:57.62\00:10:59.12 a spiritual system. - Symbolic application. 00:10:59.12\00:11:01.39 All right. Thanks for your call, Philip. Good question. 00:11:01.39\00:11:02.72 - By the way, we do have a book called Spiritual Israel. 00:11:02.72\00:11:05.06 - We do. - We can send you a free copy. 00:11:05.06\00:11:06.83 - The number to call for that is 800-835-6747. 00:11:06.83\00:11:10.43 You can ask for the book, it's called Spiritual Israel. 00:11:10.43\00:11:13.17 We'll send it to anyone in North America, 00:11:13.17\00:11:15.24 actually in the United States and Canada. 00:11:15.24\00:11:17.44 We were just reminded before the program 00:11:17.44\00:11:19.07 that there are parts of North America 00:11:19.07\00:11:21.64 that is not part of the US and Canada, 00:11:21.64\00:11:24.21 so if you're in one of those two countries, we'll be happy 00:11:24.21\00:11:26.88 to send it to you for free, otherwise, visit the website, 00:11:26.88\00:11:29.28 just amazingfacts.org, and again, if you're in the US, 00:11:29.28\00:11:33.15 you can just dial #250 and you can get the book that way. 00:11:33.15\00:11:37.83 Lolita is listening in Nevada, Lolita, 00:11:37.83\00:11:40.56 welcome to the program. - [Lolita] Hi. 00:11:40.56\00:11:43.00 Thank you pastors, my question has to do with Daniel 12, 00:11:43.00\00:11:47.57 verse 12, it says, "Blessed is he who waits 00:11:47.57\00:11:51.61 and comes to the 1,335 days." 00:11:51.61\00:11:55.98 So I'm just wondering, what exactly is that referring to? 00:11:55.98\00:11:59.71 - Pastor Ross, you wanna? 00:12:00.68\00:12:02.62 - Yeah, we'll give it a try and then, you jump in there. 00:12:02.62\00:12:04.69 - See if we can do it in a short time. 00:12:04.69\00:12:06.12 You did a good job last time. 00:12:06.12\00:12:07.42 - We've got three time periods listed in Daniel 12. 00:12:07.42\00:12:10.66 You've got the 1260, the 1290 and then the 1335. 00:12:10.66\00:12:15.16 So the 1290's understood to be the conversion 00:12:15.16\00:12:17.50 of Clovis, King of the Franks, that was the last 00:12:17.50\00:12:20.07 of the various Pagan tribes that was hindering the supremacy 00:12:20.07\00:12:25.01 of the Papal power in Rome. 00:12:25.01\00:12:27.31 That occurred in 605, 605 AD, Clovis converts 00:12:27.31\00:12:32.05 and eventually the Franks, of course, become France. 00:12:32.05\00:12:34.68 And then the 1335, if you start with that date of 605 00:12:34.68\00:12:38.39 and you go forward 1335, 1,335 years, 00:12:38.39\00:12:42.96 you end on the date 1843 and we find 00:12:42.96\00:12:46.03 a great revival that was taking place, 00:12:46.03\00:12:48.16 especially in interesting bible prophecy 00:12:48.16\00:12:50.53 around that time period, 1843 and 1844. 00:12:50.53\00:12:54.04 So the 1335 has been identified as that time period 00:12:54.04\00:12:57.17 from 605 to 1843. 00:12:57.17\00:13:00.61 I don't know if you wanted to add anything to that. 00:13:01.98\00:13:03.81 - You know, to study Daniel 12 is a tough question. 00:13:05.15\00:13:07.12 When people ask, it's like when they ask about the wheel 00:13:07.12\00:13:09.32 within the wheel and Ezekiel 00:13:09.32\00:13:11.52 because you've got three time periods 00:13:11.52\00:13:13.89 and it's sort of a summary, those three time periods 00:13:13.89\00:13:16.12 are summarizing what's happened in all these 00:13:16.12\00:13:19.43 previous apocalyptic visions in Daniel. 00:13:19.43\00:13:21.83 - Sort of a summary of the book. At least the time periods. 00:13:21.83\00:13:24.50 - So, you almost have to take people back. 00:13:24.50\00:13:26.30 - Right, and look at each of them. 00:13:26.30\00:13:27.74 - Chapter seven, chapter two, chapter nine. 00:13:27.74\00:13:30.11 - Put it all together. 00:13:30.11\00:13:31.44 Well hopefully that helps a little bit, Lolita. 00:13:31.44\00:13:33.78 Next call that we have is Jim listening in Indiana. 00:13:33.78\00:13:36.78 Jim, welcome to the program. 00:13:36.78\00:13:38.81 - [Jim] Yeah, good to talk to you again. 00:13:38.81\00:13:41.05 The question that I have is in Zechariah chapter six, 00:13:41.05\00:13:45.55 it's about the four chariots, what do they represent? 00:13:46.86\00:13:50.09 - Well, one thing you'll notice is you've got these chariots 00:13:50.09\00:13:53.40 and it talks about you've got a red one, 00:13:53.40\00:13:56.43 you've got a black one, you've got a white one 00:13:56.43\00:13:59.53 and you've got a dappled one. 00:13:59.53\00:14:00.97 Zechariah is one of those books along with Revelation 00:14:02.34\00:14:06.88 that you read along with, I should say, Ezekiel and Daniel, 00:14:06.88\00:14:11.95 that you read and understand better in Revelation. 00:14:13.25\00:14:15.18 In Revelation, you've probably heard of the Four Horsemen 00:14:15.18\00:14:18.05 of the Apocalypse, there's a lot of similarity 00:14:18.05\00:14:22.12 between this prophecy here in Zechariah and the prophecy 00:14:22.12\00:14:26.80 in Revelation, now four in the Bible typically represents 00:14:26.80\00:14:31.30 something universal, in Revelation, you've got 00:14:31.30\00:14:33.84 the four angels holding back the four wins of strife. 00:14:33.84\00:14:37.24 So these four chariots are talking about them going forth. 00:14:37.24\00:14:40.18 They're really going forth everywhere. 00:14:40.18\00:14:42.21 And with the strong seeds, typically chariots were also 00:14:42.21\00:14:46.61 used in battle and so here it's, I think talking about, you know, 00:14:46.61\00:14:51.69 the message of the Lord and the progress of the gospel 00:14:53.05\00:14:57.16 through the ages. 00:14:57.83\00:14:58.89 Now the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse is the first four 00:15:00.36\00:15:03.87 of the seven seals in Revelation. 00:15:03.87\00:15:07.20 You read in Revelation, it says you got seven seals, 00:15:07.20\00:15:09.04 and as they open the first four seals, 00:15:09.04\00:15:10.84 the four horses go forth. 00:15:10.84\00:15:13.01 - And you can't mistake the identity, 00:15:13.01\00:15:14.71 or at least the connection between Zechariah and 00:15:14.71\00:15:17.28 Revelation, where it talks about the four horses. 00:15:17.28\00:15:18.88 The order's a little different, which is interesting. 00:15:18.88\00:15:20.92 The first horse in Revelation is a white horse representing 00:15:20.92\00:15:23.65 the proclamation of the gospel, the red horse is a time 00:15:23.65\00:15:26.49 of persecution, a black horse is a time of compromise, 00:15:26.49\00:15:29.99 when number of Pagan practices came to the church, 00:15:29.99\00:15:32.76 the pale horse represents the Dark Ages. 00:15:32.76\00:15:35.10 There was almost a death to the truth and the plagues 00:15:35.10\00:15:37.83 that came during that time period, so I think there 00:15:37.83\00:15:40.37 is a connection here between Zechariah and of course, 00:15:40.37\00:15:42.74 there were judgements coming upon ancient Israel, 00:15:42.74\00:15:45.07 more specifically from Babylon, and then of course you had 00:15:45.07\00:15:47.91 other nations after Babylon, you got Persia and then 00:15:47.91\00:15:50.61 you got Greece and then you got Rome, 00:15:50.61\00:15:52.85 so you also have four principal nations that came 00:15:52.85\00:15:55.12 up against literal Israel, as well. 00:15:55.12\00:15:57.89 - All right. So hopefully that helps a little bit. 00:15:59.25\00:16:00.96 That is a deep study, next caller that we have is, 00:16:00.96\00:16:03.59 let's see, Jimmy is listening in Texas. 00:16:03.59\00:16:05.26 Jimmy, welcome to the program. 00:16:05.26\00:16:06.83 - [Jimmy] Yes sir. Thank you. 00:16:07.60\00:16:09.13 - Yeah, how can we help you tonight? 00:16:10.27\00:16:12.67 - [Jimmy] Yes sir, I was trying to, what is the will 00:16:12.67\00:16:14.97 of the Father, is it in John chapter six, verse 40? 00:16:14.97\00:16:18.91 Or in Psalm 40, verse eight? 00:16:18.91\00:16:22.41 - Well, in Psalm 40, verse eight, it says, is that the one? 00:16:23.81\00:16:26.31 I love to do your will, your law is in my heart? 00:16:26.31\00:16:29.08 - [Jimmy] Yes sir. I believe so. 00:16:30.65\00:16:32.82 - Well, of course the law of God is the will of God. 00:16:32.82\00:16:35.42 Now what was the other verse you gave us in John? 00:16:35.42\00:16:37.26 - I've got it right here, it's John 6:40, and it says, 00:16:37.26\00:16:39.46 "This is the will of Him who sent me, that everyone who sees 00:16:39.46\00:16:42.86 the Son believes in Him, who has everlasting life. 00:16:42.86\00:16:46.00 And I will raise him up at the last day." 00:16:46.00\00:16:48.80 So you're wondering, is the will of God to keep his law 00:16:48.80\00:16:52.81 or to believe in the Son, is that the question? 00:16:52.81\00:16:56.34 - [Jimmy] Yes sir. That's my question. 00:16:56.34\00:16:58.05 - Yeah, well, believing in the Son is believing 00:16:59.18\00:17:02.28 in the teachings of Jesus, who said that his teachings 00:17:02.28\00:17:06.39 are to support the law, so believing in Christ 00:17:06.39\00:17:09.82 means believing in His teachings. 00:17:09.82\00:17:12.19 He said, "Why do you call me Lord, Lord and do not 00:17:12.19\00:17:14.40 the things that I say," this is what Christ said. 00:17:14.40\00:17:17.50 And he said, It's not everyone that says Lord, Lord 00:17:17.50\00:17:20.37 that will enter the kingdom, but they that do 00:17:20.37\00:17:23.30 the will of my Father," now, it tells us in the gospel 00:17:23.30\00:17:27.51 of John chapter one, that all things that were made, 00:17:27.51\00:17:30.08 were made by him, meaning Jesus. 00:17:30.08\00:17:32.25 That would include the 10 Commandments given on Mount 00:17:33.75\00:17:37.45 Sinai. The Father did not somehow sneak away from the Son 00:17:37.45\00:17:40.72 when He gave the 10 Commandments. 00:17:40.72\00:17:42.89 Jesus was part and parcel of the Commandments 00:17:42.89\00:17:45.33 being given to humanity. 00:17:45.33\00:17:46.66 And so that's why Jesus said, "Not one jot or tittle 00:17:46.66\00:17:49.96 shall in any wise pass from the law." 00:17:49.96\00:17:52.47 So the law of God is a perfect reflection of the will 00:17:52.47\00:17:55.44 of God and it's the epitome of believing in Christ. 00:17:55.44\00:17:59.84 - Jesus said, "If you love me, keep my Commandments." 00:17:59.84\00:18:02.21 - Yeah, so we don't keep the Commandments to be saved, 00:18:02.21\00:18:04.55 but if we love the Lord and we've accepted Him by faith, 00:18:04.55\00:18:07.25 we want to obey Him. - Absolutely, you know, 00:18:07.25\00:18:09.52 we do have a study guide called Written in Stone. 00:18:09.52\00:18:11.69 It's about the 10 Commandments, but not only does God 00:18:11.69\00:18:13.89 want the law, which was written in stone, 00:18:13.89\00:18:16.46 but He wants the law in the heart. 00:18:16.46\00:18:18.53 And that's part of the New Covenant experience. 00:18:18.53\00:18:20.30 We'll send that to anyone who calls and asks, 00:18:20.30\00:18:22.13 the number is 800-835-6747 or you can dial #250 00:18:22.13\00:18:27.20 and ask for the study guide, it's called Written in Stone, 00:18:28.57\00:18:29.97 it's about the law of God. 00:18:29.97\00:18:31.37 You'll be blessed by reading that. Thanks for your call. 00:18:31.37\00:18:34.14 Next caller that we have is Gilbert listening 00:18:34.14\00:18:35.98 from America Samoa, Gilbert, welcome to the program. 00:18:35.98\00:18:39.01 - [Gilbert] Thank you. Thank you for having me. 00:18:40.72\00:18:43.25 My question is, I grew up in the faith, 00:18:43.25\00:18:46.96 in the FDA faith and went to schools all my life. 00:18:48.32\00:18:52.13 And when I graduated from high school 00:18:52.13\00:18:56.53 and joined the military, I just stopped going to church 00:18:56.53\00:18:59.30 and really just didn't, I was just out of the faith. 00:18:59.30\00:19:04.37 I believed in God, but I was out of the faith. 00:19:05.47\00:19:06.68 Now I was baptized when I was 12 years old 00:19:06.68\00:19:09.11 and I'm in my fifties now, and now that I've come back 00:19:09.11\00:19:12.95 to the church, I'm wondering would it be right for me 00:19:12.95\00:19:15.65 to be baptized again? 00:19:15.65\00:19:16.92 - You know, based on what you said, 00:19:18.05\00:19:19.89 I always tell a person they really ought to talk 00:19:19.89\00:19:21.49 to a local pastor to evaluate that. 00:19:21.49\00:19:23.49 But just based on what you've told me, 00:19:23.49\00:19:24.86 if I was your pastor and you basically had wandered 00:19:24.86\00:19:28.26 from the Lord for years and been living out in the world, 00:19:28.26\00:19:32.03 you would be exhibit A of a good reason to be re-baptized. 00:19:32.03\00:19:35.47 - Recommitting your life to Christ. 00:19:35.47\00:19:37.24 - And it's also your testimony to others. 00:19:37.24\00:19:39.67 - And sometimes when a person is younger, 00:19:39.67\00:19:41.91 they could be sincere at that point. 00:19:41.91\00:19:43.65 But I know there are many younger people 00:19:43.65\00:19:46.35 that might get baptized just because their friends 00:19:46.35\00:19:48.15 are doing it and it's not really their decision. 00:19:48.15\00:19:50.79 Not that it's wrong to be baptized if you, you know, 00:19:50.79\00:19:53.12 are 12 or 13 years of age, but if you have wandered away, 00:19:53.12\00:19:56.32 like you say Pastor Doug, and you come back, 00:19:56.32\00:19:58.39 it's a great testimony to your friends and family too, 00:19:58.39\00:20:00.70 saying, you know, I'm recommitted to Christ. 00:20:00.70\00:20:03.50 Does that help Gilbert? 00:20:03.50\00:20:05.23 - [Gilbert] Yes, it does. Thank you very much. 00:20:06.63\00:20:08.64 - Yeah, and by the way, we do have a book on baptism. 00:20:08.64\00:20:11.97 Is It Really Necessary? 00:20:11.97\00:20:13.58 - The number to call for that book is 800-835-6747. 00:20:13.58\00:20:17.31 The book is called Baptism, Is it Really Necessary? 00:20:17.31\00:20:20.65 You can also dial #250 and you can ask for the book 00:20:20.65\00:20:24.19 that way as well, Elliot is listening 00:20:24.19\00:20:26.59 from California, Elliot work with the program. 00:20:26.59\00:20:29.52 - [Elliot] Good evening, pastors. 00:20:29.52\00:20:30.89 - Evening. 00:20:30.89\00:20:31.79 - [Elliot] So my question is regarding Jonah, 00:20:33.09\00:20:36.40 chapter one, verse seven. 00:20:36.40\00:20:37.90 So it says, "And they said, everyone to his fellow, 00:20:40.90\00:20:44.24 come and let us cast lots that we may know 00:20:44.24\00:20:47.21 for whose causes evil is upon us. 00:20:47.21\00:20:49.71 So they cast lots and the lot fell upon Jonah." 00:20:49.71\00:20:53.08 So my question regarding that is, 00:20:53.08\00:20:54.68 is this still applicable to this day to cast lots? 00:20:56.15\00:20:59.82 - Well, I don't think God plans for us to make 00:20:59.82\00:21:02.86 important spiritual decisions by rolling dice 00:21:02.86\00:21:05.96 or casting lots, it is true in the Bible, 00:21:05.96\00:21:09.06 when they divided the Promised Land, 00:21:09.06\00:21:11.33 they wanted to find an equitable reason 00:21:11.33\00:21:13.70 to look like there was no bias in how they divided 00:21:13.70\00:21:16.04 the Promised Land, Joshua cast lots and when they picked 00:21:16.04\00:21:19.77 a replacement apostle for Judas between two candidates, 00:21:19.77\00:21:24.75 Peter cast lots, these are Pagans. 00:21:24.75\00:21:28.55 So of course what the Pagans did in the story of Jonah, 00:21:28.55\00:21:31.49 they're not our example, but the fact is that they knew 00:21:31.49\00:21:34.59 this was a supernatural storm and they thought the gods 00:21:34.59\00:21:36.93 were angry and they wanna know why, which one of us 00:21:36.93\00:21:39.49 has done something to anger the gods? 00:21:39.49\00:21:42.53 And well, in fact, the Lord was upset with Jonah 00:21:42.53\00:21:46.97 for shirking his duty and running from the word of God. 00:21:46.97\00:21:50.14 And so God allowed their method of casting lots 00:21:50.14\00:21:52.94 to identify him. 00:21:52.94\00:21:53.94 But God doesn't recommend that we use casting lots. 00:21:57.05\00:21:59.75 Nowhere else in the New Testament does it say, "Well, 00:21:59.75\00:22:01.65 if you're not sure what to do, cast lots." 00:22:01.65\00:22:03.82 It's a lot like flipping a coin. 00:22:05.85\00:22:06.99 - I think you wrote a book Pastor Doug, 00:22:06.99\00:22:08.09 called Determining the Will of God. 00:22:08.09\00:22:10.39 And you gave some principles, some Biblical principles 00:22:10.39\00:22:12.53 that we can follow in wanting to know what God's will is. 00:22:12.53\00:22:15.00 And again, that's free, we'll send it to anyone who calls 00:22:15.00\00:22:17.63 and asks, the book is called Determining the Will of God. 00:22:17.63\00:22:20.30 Number is 800-835-6747. 00:22:20.30\00:22:24.47 Ask for the book and we'll be happy to send it to you. 00:22:24.47\00:22:27.21 Next caller that we have, let's see, April is in Florida. 00:22:27.21\00:22:29.91 April, welcome to the program. 00:22:29.91\00:22:31.48 - [April] Good evening, Pastor Doug. 00:22:32.48\00:22:33.88 Good evening Pastor Ross. 00:22:33.88\00:22:36.48 The Lord actually blessed me because your time and my time 00:22:37.85\00:22:42.46 in Florida is 10 o'clock, after 10 o'clock here. 00:22:43.79\00:22:45.63 So I pray to God to keep me awake so I may call, 00:22:45.63\00:22:49.56 I actually have two questions, but I can't be selfish. 00:22:49.56\00:22:53.44 So I have a question for, not just myself, 00:22:53.44\00:22:56.54 but for other people. 00:22:56.54\00:22:57.74 What is the difference between a spiritual Jew 00:22:59.01\00:23:02.81 and a Seventh-Day Adventist? 00:23:02.81\00:23:04.51 I go to a Seventh-Day Adventist church in Key West, Florida 00:23:04.51\00:23:08.12 and we have a lady that is a spiritual Jew. 00:23:08.12\00:23:12.12 But when I ask one of the elders, what did he say he is, 00:23:13.46\00:23:16.69 he said she's a Seventh-Day Adventist. 00:23:16.69\00:23:19.73 So how do I determine what I am, 00:23:19.73\00:23:22.23 a spiritual Jew or a Seventh-Day Adventist? 00:23:22.23\00:23:25.23 - All right, you know, it's interesting because a lot of, 00:23:25.23\00:23:28.17 my family, on my mother's side, is all Jewish. 00:23:29.47\00:23:33.21 And when I became a Christian, my grandparents said, 00:23:33.21\00:23:37.65 "Oh," you know, "you've become a Goyam. 00:23:37.65\00:23:39.41 You've abandoned the faith," and then when I married Karen 00:23:39.41\00:23:41.62 who was a Gentile girl, they felt betrayed. 00:23:41.62\00:23:44.49 And I said, "Look, I'm more Jewish than you are." 00:23:44.49\00:23:46.35 I said, "I still keep the seventh-day Sabbath 00:23:46.35\00:23:48.39 and I don't eat unclean food." 00:23:48.39\00:23:50.46 And so, some people have seen that there's a parallel 00:23:50.46\00:23:53.26 between Seventh-Day Adventists and Judaism, 00:23:53.26\00:23:57.57 is it like, they're basically messianic Christians. 00:23:57.57\00:24:00.64 So there are a lot of messianic Christians 00:24:00.64\00:24:02.97 in the world there that are evangelicals 00:24:02.97\00:24:04.97 that are non-denominational, they're just Jews who have 00:24:04.97\00:24:08.04 become believers in Jesus and many of them have identified 00:24:08.04\00:24:12.05 that the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, you know, 00:24:12.05\00:24:13.72 kind of fits in with their comfort zone. 00:24:13.72\00:24:15.32 But there's a lot of spiritual Jews that are out there, 00:24:15.32\00:24:18.65 anyone really, who accepts Jesus. 00:24:18.65\00:24:22.22 And you're following, you're walking in the Word 00:24:22.22\00:24:25.16 and you're following the light that God gives you. 00:24:25.16\00:24:27.36 You really become a spiritual Jew 'cause Paul says in, 00:24:27.36\00:24:30.83 oh, it's in Galatians, you might find it for me. 00:24:30.83\00:24:32.97 "He is not a Jew, which is one outwardly, 00:24:32.97\00:24:35.10 but he is a Jew, which is one inwardly." 00:24:35.10\00:24:37.71 And Paul says, I think in Galatians, 00:24:37.71\00:24:39.27 "If you are Christ, then you are Abraham's seed." 00:24:39.27\00:24:42.14 And again, it tells us it's not circumcision of the flesh, 00:24:42.14\00:24:45.51 but circumcision of the heart. 00:24:45.51\00:24:48.02 - Romans chapter two, verse 28. 00:24:48.02\00:24:49.78 - Yeah, that's one of I think, three or four verses 00:24:49.78\00:24:51.95 that Paul talks about spiritual Jews. 00:24:51.95\00:24:54.79 So yeah, every believer in Christ sort of becomes adopted 00:24:54.79\00:24:58.93 into, by the way, friends, the most important verse 00:24:58.93\00:25:02.53 on this is the New Covenant, we know the New Covenant says, 00:25:02.53\00:25:05.23 "I'll write my law in your hearts," but listen 00:25:05.23\00:25:06.80 to the preamble, it says, "After those days, 00:25:06.80\00:25:10.61 I will make a new covenant with the House of Israel 00:25:10.61\00:25:14.81 and the House of Judah." 00:25:14.81\00:25:16.18 He never makes that new covenant with Gentiles. 00:25:16.18\00:25:19.31 So if anyone's going to buy into the New Covenant, 00:25:19.31\00:25:22.72 you become a spiritual Jew 'cause it's only made 00:25:22.72\00:25:25.19 with the Jews. - And if you look 00:25:25.19\00:25:26.55 in the Book of Revelation, which talks about, you know, 00:25:26.55\00:25:28.49 end time events, you only got two groups. 00:25:28.49\00:25:30.23 You've got the Jews and you've got the Gentiles. 00:25:30.23\00:25:32.83 The Gentiles symbolically represent the unbelievers, 00:25:32.83\00:25:35.90 but Israel or the Jews in the Book of Revelation, 00:25:35.90\00:25:38.90 represents the believers. - Yeah, I see a question 00:25:38.90\00:25:41.30 coming up here for probably the second half, 00:25:41.30\00:25:43.47 about the 144,000, but now there is a third maybe, 00:25:43.47\00:25:48.28 doesn't Revelation also say you get the synagogue of Satan? 00:25:48.28\00:25:51.78 They're professing that they're believers, but they're not. 00:25:53.11\00:25:56.02 They're unfaithful, again, it uses the Jewish terminology. 00:25:56.02\00:25:59.45 - Worship. - Absolutely. 00:26:41.90\00:26:45.60 - So I think it's a great title, but yeah, 00:26:45.60\00:26:48.90 and you might want to get a copy of that and share 00:26:48.90\00:26:50.54 with any Jewish friends you have to introduce them 00:26:50.54\00:26:52.74 to the Christian faith, now Pastor Ross, 00:26:52.74\00:26:55.71 we wanna remind everybody that not only is this 00:26:55.71\00:26:58.25 a radio broadcast, it's been a radio broadcast for years, 00:26:58.25\00:27:00.88 but we're also airing on TV now, they can see this on AFTV, 00:27:00.88\00:27:04.99 it's rebroadcast on Hope Channel, 00:27:04.99\00:27:06.79 and soon to also be rebroadcast on 3ABN, 00:27:06.79\00:27:10.43 so be watching their schedules. 00:27:10.43\00:27:12.36 Be back in a minute with more Bible questions. 00:27:12.36\00:27:14.46 (uplifting music) 00:27:14.46\00:27:17.73 - [Announcer] Stay tuned, "Bible Answers Live" 00:27:17.73\00:27:19.93 will return shortly. 00:27:19.93\00:27:21.27 - The US government is drowning in debt 00:27:25.44\00:27:28.38 to the tune of 22 trillion dollars. 00:27:28.38\00:27:31.21 But before you wag your finger at the government's spending, 00:27:31.21\00:27:33.95 the Federal Reserve says the average American household 00:27:33.95\00:27:37.42 carries over $137,000 in debt. 00:27:37.42\00:27:41.49 While it was never God's plan that we live with a burden 00:27:41.49\00:27:43.96 of debt, Proverbs 22:7 warns us, "The rich rules 00:27:43.96\00:27:48.03 over the poor and the borrower is servant to the lender." 00:27:48.03\00:27:51.63 Living with debt is a stressful burden 00:27:51.63\00:27:53.47 that actually hurts your relationship with God. 00:27:53.47\00:27:56.10 In my new pocketbook, Deliverance From Debt, 00:27:56.10\00:27:58.94 I outlined the Bible principles on how to properly manage 00:27:58.94\00:28:02.34 your money with some practical suggestions 00:28:02.34\00:28:04.65 on how you can get out and stay out of debt. 00:28:04.65\00:28:07.72 If you or someone you love is drowning in debt, 00:28:07.72\00:28:10.72 order a copy of Deliverance From Debt today. 00:28:10.72\00:28:13.76 It can be a lifesaver to keep you from going under. 00:28:13.76\00:28:16.66 Please call 800-538-7275 or visit afbookstore.com. 00:28:16.66\00:28:21.70 Millions of people believe that planet Earth 00:28:25.97\00:28:28.64 is on the verge of some apocalypse that will plunge 00:28:28.64\00:28:31.44 the world's cities into chaos. 00:28:31.44\00:28:33.84 In response, thinking people everywhere are wondering 00:28:33.84\00:28:37.25 if it might be a good time to locate their families 00:28:37.25\00:28:40.22 outside of the congested metropolitan areas. 00:28:40.22\00:28:43.49 In my new book, Heading for the Hills, 00:28:43.49\00:28:45.99 A Beginner's Guide to Country Living, 00:28:45.99\00:28:48.02 I do my best to provide a biblical balance. 00:28:48.02\00:28:51.53 I'd like to share with you some of the crucial things 00:28:51.53\00:28:53.80 you'll need to know before you head up for the hills. 00:28:53.80\00:28:57.20 I'd also like to identify some of the practical things 00:28:57.20\00:28:59.83 you look for in buying a piece of country land, 00:28:59.83\00:29:02.87 how to develop water, power, and a garden, 00:29:02.87\00:29:05.47 all while still seeking to save the lost. 00:29:05.47\00:29:08.78 This book has some very valuable information for anybody 00:29:08.78\00:29:11.91 that's ever considering country Living. 00:29:11.91\00:29:14.05 - [Announcer 2] Order your copy of Heading for the Hills. 00:29:14.05\00:29:16.35 Call 800-538-7275 or visit afbookstore.com. 00:29:16.35\00:29:21.42 (uplifting music) 00:29:25.19\00:29:28.36 - [Announcer] You're listening to "Bible Answers Live", 00:29:28.36\00:29:30.97 where every question answered provides a clearer picture 00:29:30.97\00:29:33.97 of God and His plan to save you. 00:29:33.97\00:29:36.71 So what are you waiting for? 00:31:12.07\00:31:14.00 Chocolate covered ants, snails, grasshopper burgers? 00:31:14.00\00:31:18.71 - Yeah, well I don't know, you're probably safer eating 00:31:20.08\00:31:24.28 the grasshopper than eating the chocolate, 00:31:24.28\00:31:26.88 but technically in the Bible there are certain insects 00:31:26.88\00:31:31.25 that you were allowed to eat, and you know, 00:31:31.25\00:31:33.22 grasshoppers are largely vegetarians. 00:31:33.22\00:31:35.46 And so there was a provision that you could eat locusts. 00:31:36.86\00:31:39.23 And it specifies there are certain hopping insects 00:31:39.23\00:31:42.63 that were edible, you're not to be eating beetles, 00:31:42.63\00:31:45.77 I don't think you're supposed to eat ants or wasps 00:31:45.77\00:31:47.87 or things like that, certainly not a praying mantis 00:31:47.87\00:31:50.24 or a black widow, but. - Right. 00:31:50.24\00:31:52.61 Well maybe a slug that doesn't sound. 00:31:52.61\00:31:54.18 - Oh no, I don't think you're supposed to eat grubs 00:31:54.18\00:31:55.78 or slugs either, I think it says that they 00:31:55.78\00:31:59.01 had to be hopping insects. - Six legs. 00:31:59.01\00:32:01.32 Hopping insects, so, well didn't John the Baptist 00:32:01.32\00:32:04.55 eat locusts? - Yeah, that word also 00:32:04.55\00:32:07.12 could mean locust bean and we're hoping 00:32:07.12\00:32:09.59 that's what it means, but I just hate the picture 00:32:09.59\00:32:11.93 of him with grasshopper legs in his teeth. 00:32:11.93\00:32:14.23 - All right, thanks for your call Rick. 00:32:14.23\00:32:15.80 We're gonna go back to, who do we have next? 00:32:15.80\00:32:17.57 We've got Henry listening in New York, 00:32:17.57\00:32:19.10 Henry, welcome to the program. 00:32:19.10\00:32:20.87 - [Henry] Thank you for taking my call. 00:32:20.87\00:32:22.94 When Jesus Christ comes back and any woman who is pregnant 00:32:22.94\00:32:28.01 will go as she stayed, will she have the baby without pain? 00:32:29.34\00:32:33.28 - Okay, so when Jesus returns, will unborn babies be born? 00:32:34.65\00:32:39.09 I had a pastor ask me this one time, he said, 00:32:40.19\00:32:41.56 "What happens to pregnant women when Jesus comes?" 00:32:41.56\00:32:43.73 I said, "They're delivered in more ways than one." 00:32:43.73\00:32:47.20 I'm sure that a woman who's pregnant that is a believer 00:32:47.20\00:32:50.40 that you know, the Lord is somehow gonna help her 00:32:50.40\00:32:54.90 to experience that child, whether right then in the coming 00:32:54.90\00:32:58.24 of the Lord when our bodies are transformed, 00:32:58.24\00:33:00.64 angel placed the baby in her arms, 00:33:00.64\00:33:02.61 but I'm sure it would be painless. 00:33:02.61\00:33:04.68 And I hadn't thought, you know, maybe when they get 00:33:04.68\00:33:08.15 to heaven, there will be a maternity ward. 00:33:08.15\00:33:10.39 There are children in heaven, of course, a lot of babies 00:33:10.39\00:33:12.89 in the resurrection, how God is gonna do that, 00:33:12.89\00:33:15.76 that's one of the mysteries. 00:33:15.76\00:33:17.26 People ask me questions like, you know, 00:33:17.26\00:33:19.63 what's gonna happen to those that are 00:33:19.63\00:33:21.53 in the International Space Station when Jesus comes, 00:33:21.53\00:33:24.50 will they be forgotten or left behind? 00:33:24.50\00:33:26.84 You know, there's a lot of the, you know, 00:33:26.84\00:33:30.61 questions that sort of are speculating. 00:33:30.61\00:33:33.38 - What about the sailors who are in a nuclear submarine 00:33:33.38\00:33:36.34 under the ocean. - I wouldn't wanna be there. 00:33:36.34\00:33:39.65 So hope that helps a little bit. 00:33:40.45\00:33:42.05 There's no specific scriptures on that, Henry. 00:33:42.05\00:33:44.02 All we can do is speculate. 00:33:44.02\00:33:45.62 - All right, thanks for your call. 00:33:45.62\00:33:46.76 Robert is listening Washington, Robert, 00:33:46.76\00:33:48.12 welcome to the program. - [Robert] Hello pastors. 00:33:48.12\00:33:50.73 - Hi. - [Robert] I sometimes 00:33:50.73\00:33:52.79 talk with people who believe that Christ will have 00:33:52.79\00:33:55.80 a 1000 year millennial reign and they ask me, 00:33:55.80\00:34:00.44 "Well, do you read the whole Bible?" 00:34:00.44\00:34:02.74 There was one passage that they mentioned, Zechariah 14, 00:34:04.41\00:34:09.48 chapter 14, we don't need to read the whole chapter, 00:34:10.88\00:34:13.72 but one of the verses, I guess verse 18, 00:34:13.72\00:34:16.55 talks about those who are there need to do 00:34:16.55\00:34:21.62 the Feast of Tabernacles, otherwise they don't get any 00:34:23.32\00:34:25.49 rain. And that seems to be pertaining to the millennial 00:34:27.56\00:34:32.43 reign? - Yeah, well the Feast of Tabernacles was basically 00:34:32.43\00:34:35.60 a feast that coincided with the Exodus. 00:34:35.60\00:34:39.34 They were supposed to remember that while they were 00:34:39.34\00:34:41.98 in the wilderness, that they were sojourners, 00:34:41.98\00:34:44.91 they were pilgrims, and so they would, 00:34:44.91\00:34:46.51 during the Feast of Tabernacles, they'd make 00:34:46.51\00:34:48.18 these little booths, it was the Old Testament version 00:34:48.18\00:34:51.82 of tents out of the branches of trees and so forth 00:34:51.82\00:34:55.26 to shelter them from the sun, something like the booth 00:34:55.26\00:34:58.49 that Jonah made when he was sitting on the mountain. 00:34:58.49\00:35:00.96 And those that experience salvation, 00:35:00.96\00:35:05.00 they're singing the song of Moses and the Lamb, you know, 00:35:06.37\00:35:08.37 Miriam sang a song of deliverance when they came 00:35:08.37\00:35:10.61 out of Egypt, so Zechariah is going back and forth 00:35:10.61\00:35:14.61 in this chapter between a punishment that was gonna come 00:35:14.61\00:35:18.18 on Israel, he talks about when the women are ravished 00:35:18.18\00:35:20.68 and the city's destroyed during the Roman captivity. 00:35:20.68\00:35:24.89 Jesus connected what happened to the Jews 00:35:24.89\00:35:27.86 when the Romans destroyed Jerusalem 00:35:27.86\00:35:30.33 and signs of the second coming, 00:35:30.33\00:35:32.23 Zechariah does the same thing in chapter 14. 00:35:32.23\00:35:35.13 This prophecy is interwoven and it overlaps 00:35:35.13\00:35:37.77 with the Jewish history and spiritual Israel 00:35:37.77\00:35:41.10 at the second coming in the millennium, or you know, 00:35:41.10\00:35:43.84 their time in the kingdom. 00:35:43.84\00:35:45.37 - Yeah, just add to that Pastor Doug, 00:35:45.37\00:35:47.44 the Feast of Tabernacles is a symbol or a type 00:35:47.44\00:35:50.18 of the 1000 years where the Redeemed will be 00:35:50.18\00:35:53.28 in the new Jerusalem in heaven. 00:35:53.28\00:35:55.22 Now remember, the final home of the Redeemed is not heaven. 00:35:55.22\00:35:57.75 It's actually the Earth made new. 00:35:57.75\00:35:58.89 - [Doug] That's right. - Jesus said the meek 00:35:58.89\00:36:00.96 shall inherit the Earth, so the Feast of Tabernacles 00:36:00.96\00:36:03.53 symbolizes that time when the righteous are in heaven. 00:36:03.53\00:36:06.49 Well then you read on, in the same passage, 00:36:06.49\00:36:08.03 it talks about those who do not come up 00:36:08.03\00:36:09.76 to the Feast of Tabernacles, in other words, 00:36:09.76\00:36:11.57 they're the ones that are not taken to heaven 00:36:11.57\00:36:13.34 when Jesus comes a second time, that would mean 00:36:13.34\00:36:15.74 they're the wicked, symbolized here by Egypt, 00:36:15.74\00:36:17.84 that says they received the plague. 00:36:17.84\00:36:20.14 Well if you read a little further, you find out what 00:36:20.14\00:36:22.04 that plague is, which is eventually eternal destruction 00:36:22.04\00:36:25.45 at the end of the thousand years. 00:36:25.45\00:36:27.72 There won't be any rain on the earth 00:36:27.72\00:36:29.08 during the thousand years, the wicked all destroyed 00:36:29.08\00:36:31.42 with the brightness of Christ's coming, so there's some 00:36:31.42\00:36:34.36 dual applications there as it refers to that symbol 00:36:34.36\00:36:37.69 of the Feast of Tabernacles. 00:36:37.69\00:36:40.06 - So hope that helps a little. Thank you so much. 00:36:41.36\00:36:43.53 - Next caller that we have is Tanya listening from Missouri. 00:36:43.53\00:36:46.70 Tanya, welcome to the program. 00:36:46.70\00:36:48.80 - [Tanya] Yes, hi, I have a question about the 144 00:36:48.80\00:36:53.38 and also the close of probation. 00:36:55.01\00:36:56.91 - [Doug] Okay. - [Tanya] Could you explain, 00:36:56.91\00:36:58.95 is the 144 literal and if it is, 00:36:58.95\00:37:03.25 what happens to everybody else? 00:37:03.25\00:37:06.65 - All right, good question, for our friends listening, 00:37:06.65\00:37:09.49 the 144,000 is a special group that's identified 00:37:09.49\00:37:13.33 in Revelation, both chapter seven of Revelation 00:37:13.33\00:37:15.96 and chapter 14, and it says that God has this group 00:37:15.96\00:37:20.77 of 12,000 from the 12 tribes of Israel. 00:37:20.77\00:37:25.57 And then it names the tribes and it's giving them 00:37:25.57\00:37:28.28 in an order that you normally don't find. 00:37:28.28\00:37:31.05 So one, the question is, are these literal Jews? 00:37:31.05\00:37:35.58 And I believe not, because when it's talking about 12,000 00:37:35.58\00:37:39.55 from the tribe of Issachar and Zebulun and Asher, 00:37:39.55\00:37:43.53 those tribes ceased to exist, they were conquered 00:37:43.53\00:37:47.40 by Assyria, they intermarried, their descendants kind of 00:37:47.40\00:37:51.20 have been, you know, scattered around the world. 00:37:51.20\00:37:54.27 Assyria was later conquered. 00:37:54.27\00:37:56.34 And so finding literal descendants from the 10 tribes 00:37:56.34\00:38:00.88 that were carried off to Assyria would be difficult 00:38:00.88\00:38:04.11 to do long before Jesus was born. 00:38:04.11\00:38:06.72 But the reason it's saying that, it's talking about, 00:38:06.72\00:38:09.32 I think, spiritual Israel, everyone who's adopted 00:38:09.32\00:38:12.05 into God's family becomes members of the tribe. 00:38:12.05\00:38:15.49 Is it a number? Are they the only one saved? No. 00:38:15.49\00:38:19.03 You read later in chapter seven when John is talking 00:38:19.03\00:38:22.46 to the angel, he says, "Who are the ones arrayed 00:38:22.46\00:38:25.07 in white robes that are without number, 00:38:25.07\00:38:26.67 a great multitude," said, "these are the ones who've come 00:38:26.67\00:38:29.27 outta great tribulation," and you find that in verse 14 00:38:29.27\00:38:33.11 and on, so through the influence of the 144,000, 00:38:33.11\00:38:38.18 there's a great revival, just like God had 12 apostles 00:38:39.48\00:38:42.82 that were leaders in sharing the gospel 00:38:42.82\00:38:46.09 with the House of Israel in the beginning, 00:38:46.09\00:38:48.59 Jesus has got 12 times 12,000 that share the gospel 00:38:49.89\00:38:52.93 with the whole world before His second coming. 00:38:52.93\00:38:55.50 So they're like last-day apostles. 00:38:55.50\00:38:57.07 They're not the only ones saved. 00:38:57.07\00:38:59.30 - It's interesting Pastor Doug, you have literal Israel 00:38:59.30\00:39:01.44 that God raised up to prepare the world for the first coming 00:39:01.44\00:39:03.77 of Christ, you got spiritual Israel, 00:39:03.77\00:39:06.41 symbolized here by 144,000 that are preparing the world 00:39:06.41\00:39:09.64 for the second coming of Christ through the proclamation 00:39:09.64\00:39:11.91 of the three angels messages that we find in Revelation, 00:39:11.91\00:39:14.05 chapter 14, so very interesting connection. 00:39:14.05\00:39:16.55 Now I think Tanya was also asking something about 00:39:16.55\00:39:19.05 the close of probation. 00:39:19.05\00:39:20.72 So Tanya, what was that about the close of probation? 00:39:20.72\00:39:23.66 - [Tanya] Well, can you explain it because I'm confused. 00:39:25.69\00:39:29.93 I get so many answers. 00:39:29.93\00:39:32.17 - Sure, you know, just before Jesus comes, 00:39:32.17\00:39:35.07 there is a period of time when salvation, 00:39:35.07\00:39:37.74 the door of salvation, is finally closed 00:39:37.74\00:39:40.78 and those who are saved are sealed, 00:39:40.78\00:39:43.35 they're sealed with the name of God and they're saved 00:39:44.68\00:39:46.98 for good and they can't be lost and those who are lost, 00:39:46.98\00:39:49.75 cannot be saved, in Revelation 22, Jesus says, 00:39:49.75\00:39:53.05 "Let the just be just still, 00:39:53.05\00:39:55.19 let the filthy be filthy still," no changing teams. 00:39:55.19\00:39:58.86 It's something like back in the days of Noah, 00:39:58.86\00:40:01.36 when Noah and his family entered the Ark 00:40:01.36\00:40:03.43 and God shut the door, the rain hadn't started, 00:40:03.43\00:40:06.20 life went on outside the Ark, but their destiny was sealed 00:40:06.20\00:40:10.31 and the lost could no longer get in the Ark 00:40:10.31\00:40:12.61 and Noah and his family were sealed inside. 00:40:12.61\00:40:15.01 There's gonna be a period of time, 00:40:15.01\00:40:16.41 we don't know exactly how long, before Jesus comes, 00:40:16.41\00:40:18.85 when probation closes and no one else can be saved 00:40:18.85\00:40:22.65 or lost for that matter. 00:40:22.65\00:40:24.45 - And then after probation closes, 00:40:24.45\00:40:25.72 you got the seven last plagues and then Jesus comes. 00:40:25.72\00:40:28.96 - [Doug] Good point. Yeah. - All right. 00:40:28.96\00:40:30.33 Next caller that we have is Jason listening in California. 00:40:30.33\00:40:32.59 Jason, welcome to the program. 00:40:32.59\00:40:34.13 - [Jason] Hi. Thank you for having me. 00:40:35.50\00:40:37.47 - Yeah. 00:40:37.47\00:40:38.27 - [Jason] So before I ask any questions, 00:40:39.50\00:40:42.94 I'd like to say that I'm a married man and my question is, 00:40:42.94\00:40:47.91 how do I maintain a work and family life 00:40:49.14\00:40:52.95 by helping my parents and being married and when my parents 00:40:52.95\00:40:57.92 want me to put them first before my marriage. 00:40:59.32\00:41:01.89 And I know Genesis 2:24 says, you know, 00:41:02.99\00:41:06.43 a man shall leave his mother and his father 00:41:06.43\00:41:09.83 and shall cleave to his wife. 00:41:09.83\00:41:11.37 So how do I separate the two? And then how do I? 00:41:12.50\00:41:16.97 - So how do you balance those things? 00:41:16.97\00:41:18.87 That's a good question, when you're married and you start 00:41:18.87\00:41:23.41 a new family, you can see this all through God's 00:41:23.41\00:41:27.12 natural world, there comes a time where the parents, 00:41:27.12\00:41:31.82 they usually chase the young away. 00:41:31.82\00:41:33.76 But sometimes, you know, in the human families, 00:41:35.12\00:41:37.19 we want to keep our sons and our daughters around, 00:41:37.19\00:41:40.26 which is normal, but it's important for the new family 00:41:40.26\00:41:44.93 unit to have some freedom and independence when it's 00:41:44.93\00:41:48.30 established. And that's why God's says a man shall leave his 00:41:48.30\00:41:50.67 father and mother and cleave unto his wife. 00:41:50.67\00:41:53.41 And so your first allegiance would be to, of course, 00:41:53.41\00:41:55.88 the Lord, then your wife because it says when you marry, 00:41:55.88\00:41:59.01 you become one flesh with your wife. 00:41:59.01\00:42:01.95 But while at the same time, you want to do all you can 00:42:03.62\00:42:05.92 to respect your parents, and I know right now there's 00:42:05.92\00:42:09.36 a lot of ears perking up around the country listening 00:42:09.36\00:42:11.56 to that because there's a lot of families 00:42:11.56\00:42:14.03 that kind of struggle in the relationships 00:42:14.03\00:42:15.90 between the parent and the child and the wife 00:42:15.90\00:42:20.77 or spouse of the child and just balancing the time 00:42:20.77\00:42:24.64 and the relationship and the attention. 00:42:24.64\00:42:27.48 It can be real challenging, you know, sometimes young wives, 00:42:27.48\00:42:29.78 they think, "I can never live up to my mother-in-law. 00:42:29.78\00:42:31.71 She's always judging me because I'm not as good 00:42:31.71\00:42:34.22 as your mother," or whatever, that argument's 00:42:34.22\00:42:36.28 happened a lot. (laughs) 00:42:36.28\00:42:38.22 So that's why it's good sometimes to maintain a little 00:42:38.22\00:42:40.72 bit of separation and it's really difficult unless you've 00:42:40.72\00:42:44.43 got, I've seen it work in really special occasions, 00:42:44.43\00:42:47.03 living under the same roof, but unless everyone's converted, 00:42:47.03\00:42:51.37 there's gonna be problems. - All right. Well, thank you. 00:42:51.37\00:42:54.90 Next caller that we have is, let's see, we've got John. 00:42:54.90\00:42:58.97 Yeah, John, welcome to the program. 00:42:58.97\00:43:00.94 - [John] Good evening, pastors. 00:43:00.94\00:43:02.58 Been wanting to give you guys a call for a while now. 00:43:03.91\00:43:05.88 I just actually got your Revelations verse-by-verse 00:43:05.88\00:43:08.45 daily devotional. - Oh wonderful. 00:43:08.45\00:43:10.69 - [John] Yeah, I've been studying Daniel and Revelations, 00:43:11.95\00:43:14.26 for a long time, but my question is concerning Revelation, 00:43:15.56\00:43:19.33 chapter 12, nine, I guess you could say through 13. 00:43:19.33\00:43:23.57 It says, now when Satan's angels were cast out of heaven, 00:43:25.87\00:43:30.94 they weren't, it says that they were cast to the Earth. 00:43:33.31\00:43:35.54 Now, just with my studying and a little understanding 00:43:35.54\00:43:38.91 and you know, even listening to some of your programs, 00:43:38.91\00:43:41.68 when he was cast out, he wasn't actually cast to the Earth. 00:43:41.68\00:43:44.99 He was kind of cast out and when it says, "Rejoice, 00:43:46.32\00:43:50.03 oh heavens and all those who dwell in them," 00:43:50.03\00:43:53.36 my understanding, and then it says, "woe to the inhabitants 00:43:53.36\00:43:56.40 of the Earth and to the sea," my understanding is that 00:43:56.40\00:44:00.97 there was rejoicing in the heavens, you know, 00:44:00.97\00:44:03.47 'cause God, Jesus, was on trial in the universe. 00:44:05.07\00:44:09.54 So what I'm saying, my question is for you guys, 00:44:09.54\00:44:14.25 kind of is basically when he was cast out, 00:44:14.25\00:44:18.22 he wasn't cast out directly to the Earth 00:44:18.22\00:44:20.92 until after Christ was resurrected and rose 00:44:20.92\00:44:25.73 after the 40 days, went back to heaven. 00:44:25.73\00:44:28.73 - All right, let me see. 00:44:28.73\00:44:30.37 Yeah, let me me jump in 'cause I think I understand 00:44:30.37\00:44:33.23 your question and I wanna see if I can consolidate 00:44:33.23\00:44:37.27 or capitalize that, that's not the word I'm looking for. 00:44:37.27\00:44:40.51 Capsulate that. 00:44:40.51\00:44:42.21 Revelation 12 is not something that happened in a moment. 00:44:43.98\00:44:47.55 Revelation 12 is covering a process of things. 00:44:47.55\00:44:51.75 The war in heaven did not happen immediately. 00:44:51.75\00:44:54.22 It started with Satan beginning a campaign 00:44:54.22\00:44:56.96 that may have lasted eons, had finally broke 00:44:56.96\00:44:59.03 into open rebellion, he was cast out, Satan went roaming 00:44:59.03\00:45:03.40 through the universe, looking for a place to continue 00:45:03.40\00:45:05.77 his battle, ultimately, after this world was created, 00:45:05.77\00:45:09.24 he found Adam and Eve would to listen to him 00:45:09.24\00:45:11.01 and they disobeyed God at the tree. 00:45:11.01\00:45:13.11 He then was restricted to this Earth. 00:45:13.11\00:45:15.91 And again, I think his access to heaven was limited further 00:45:17.31\00:45:21.88 after the cross, Christ said I saw Satan fall. 00:45:23.35\00:45:26.45 - And if you look at the verse, it's interesting, 00:45:26.45\00:45:27.86 you have him being cast out of heaven and then it says, 00:45:27.86\00:45:31.69 "I heard a loud voice in heaven, now salvation and strength 00:45:31.69\00:45:34.40 and the kingdom of our God and the power of His Christ 00:45:34.40\00:45:36.20 has come, the accuser of the brethren has been cast down." 00:45:36.20\00:45:40.14 So it's talking about the cross when it says 00:45:40.14\00:45:41.84 now salvation and strength has come. 00:45:41.84\00:45:44.01 So it's as if Satan is cast out of heaven and then he comes 00:45:44.01\00:45:46.84 to the Earth and he sees Adam and Eve. 00:45:46.84\00:45:49.24 But it was really at the cross that everyone realized or saw 00:45:49.24\00:45:52.91 the true colors of the devil and he was cast down, 00:45:52.91\00:45:55.95 meaning he can't represent the Earth any longer. 00:45:55.95\00:45:58.39 Do you remember the story of Job, he goes up and sort of, 00:45:58.39\00:46:00.69 claims to be the representative of Earth. 00:46:00.69\00:46:02.72 Now Jesus is the representative of Earth 00:46:02.72\00:46:04.59 and he's in heaven representing the Redeemed. 00:46:04.59\00:46:06.73 - He's interceding for us. - So he's cast down, 00:46:06.73\00:46:08.56 then it says he knows he has a short time, 00:46:08.56\00:46:10.67 so he's very angry, and so yeah, that's referring 00:46:10.67\00:46:14.40 to the cross and after that. - And the reason that he says 00:46:14.40\00:46:17.31 heaven is rejoicing is because he had been causing all kinds 00:46:17.31\00:46:20.24 of problems in heaven, he's just not there anymore. 00:46:20.24\00:46:22.38 That's why he said rejoice heavens, he's not there anymore. 00:46:22.38\00:46:25.35 - [Both Together] Woe to the Earth. He's down there. 00:46:25.35\00:46:27.65 - Going around like a roaring lion. 00:46:27.65\00:46:29.15 - Came and wrecked the neighborhood. 00:46:29.15\00:46:30.75 - All right, good question, next caller that we have 00:46:30.75\00:46:32.79 is Jonathan listening in Washington. 00:46:32.79\00:46:34.49 Jonathan, welcome to the program. 00:46:34.49\00:46:36.22 - [Jonathan] Hi, good evening. 00:46:37.66\00:46:38.73 - Yes. 00:46:38.73\00:46:39.63 - [Jonathan] Just first wanted to say thank you guys 00:46:41.23\00:46:42.93 for your time and you guys always have been 00:46:42.93\00:46:46.00 a really good source of information and I'm sure you 00:46:46.00\00:46:50.47 guys know you helped a lot of people. 00:46:50.47\00:46:52.51 I have a question about Colossians 2:14. 00:46:53.91\00:46:56.41 And it says, "In the handwriting of ordinances that was used 00:46:58.51\00:47:03.59 against us, contrary to us, nailed to the cross." 00:47:05.62\00:47:09.66 And the word ordinances, in this verse, in the Greek 00:47:09.66\00:47:12.76 is dogmasin and dogmasin is defined as something held 00:47:12.76\00:47:16.50 as an established opinion. 00:47:16.50\00:47:18.53 So wouldn't this mean that the ordinances nailed 00:47:18.53\00:47:20.97 to the cross are the tradition of the elders 00:47:20.97\00:47:23.41 or Pharisee law and not the law of Moses? 00:47:23.41\00:47:25.84 - Well if you look in the Old Testament, 00:47:27.61\00:47:30.11 it talks about when the 10 Commandments were given, 00:47:30.11\00:47:32.85 that God also gave Moses laws and statutes that were placed 00:47:32.85\00:47:37.39 in the side of the Ark that they might be a witness 00:47:37.39\00:47:41.26 against you, Moses said they might be there to witness 00:47:41.26\00:47:44.23 against you, Paul is using that same language. 00:47:44.23\00:47:47.23 But that's referring to the the ordinances, 00:47:47.23\00:47:52.00 and these of course were nailed to the cross, meaning, 00:47:52.00\00:47:54.04 you know, the sacrifice of lambs and circumcision, 00:47:54.04\00:47:56.37 a lot of the ceremonial laws Christians are not obligated 00:47:56.37\00:47:59.47 to keep that, that was fulfilled in Christ. 00:47:59.47\00:48:02.24 So yeah, the laws that Paul is referring to here 00:48:02.24\00:48:07.32 are not speaking of the 10 Commandment laws, 00:48:09.18\00:48:11.22 talking about other ceremonial or Levitical laws. 00:48:11.22\00:48:14.26 - Does that help, Jonathan? 00:48:16.36\00:48:18.33 - [Jonathan] Well the thing is, because it says dogmasin, 00:48:20.46\00:48:22.70 and it's only used twice in the New Testament, 00:48:22.70\00:48:25.43 and based on the definition, it seems more like it fits. 00:48:26.84\00:48:30.81 Well, it seems like it would fit public opinion 00:48:30.81\00:48:33.81 versus what would be considered law. 00:48:33.81\00:48:35.68 - Well the word dogma, I think, like you said, 00:48:37.05\00:48:38.81 it's just teaching, it's a pretty broad definition. 00:48:38.81\00:48:42.35 I think the key is, Paul uses words like the handwriting 00:48:42.35\00:48:47.42 of ordinances, now the word handwriting's a key, 00:48:48.76\00:48:50.93 talks about those laws written by the hand of Moses 00:48:50.93\00:48:54.03 and then the 10 Commandments written by the finger of God. 00:48:54.03\00:48:57.83 Now, I think we've got a book called 00:48:57.83\00:48:59.57 Feast Days and Sabbaths, it talks about Colossians 00:48:59.57\00:49:02.04 chapter two and we could send him a free copy of that, 00:49:02.04\00:49:05.41 it goes into more detail than we can in a few moments. 00:49:05.41\00:49:07.94 - The number to call is 800-835-6747, 00:49:07.94\00:49:11.55 you can ask for the book, it's called 00:49:11.55\00:49:12.91 Feast Days and Sabbaths and it talks about Colossians two, 00:49:12.91\00:49:16.22 you can also dial #250 and say the words 00:49:16.22\00:49:19.12 "Bible Answers Live" and you'll be able 00:49:19.12\00:49:21.22 to order the book online there as well, 00:49:21.22\00:49:23.76 actually by phone, thank you Jonathan. 00:49:23.76\00:49:26.80 We've got Linda listening in North Carolina. 00:49:26.80\00:49:29.46 Linda, welcome to the program. 00:49:29.46\00:49:31.70 - [Linda] Oh, I listen every week. 00:49:31.70\00:49:34.40 I'm just curious, why does the Bible give two 00:49:34.40\00:49:37.31 different versions on how Judas died? 00:49:37.31\00:49:40.91 One says he burst asunder and the other one says 00:49:40.91\00:49:45.01 he hung himself. - Yes, well they're really 00:49:45.01\00:49:48.02 the same, it's just that it's giving more of the story. 00:49:48.02\00:49:51.75 Peter in Acts, he talks about Judas falling headlong. 00:49:51.75\00:49:55.36 He burst asunder. 00:49:55.36\00:49:57.19 Judas, and some of this is based on tradition, 00:49:57.19\00:50:00.23 but the Bible says Judas went out and hung himself. 00:50:00.23\00:50:02.50 We believe that he put a rope around his neck 00:50:02.50\00:50:04.83 and he hung himself, but he hung himself 00:50:04.83\00:50:07.44 from one of the scaffolds or something 00:50:07.44\00:50:09.67 outside the city wall, he wanted to make sure that he could 00:50:09.67\00:50:12.64 jump and drop and hang, and at some point, the rope broke 00:50:12.64\00:50:16.24 and he fell after he hung himself. 00:50:16.24\00:50:19.11 And tradition says that it wasn't far from the road 00:50:19.11\00:50:22.28 where they brought Jesus out to execute him 00:50:22.28\00:50:25.69 and that he had fell and in the process of falling, 00:50:25.69\00:50:29.72 hitting the rocks below, I know it's not a pretty picture, 00:50:29.72\00:50:31.73 but it says that he opened up and that you know, 00:50:31.73\00:50:36.77 the dogs were already beginning to work on him 00:50:37.97\00:50:39.53 at the time when Christ was being taken out of the city, 00:50:39.53\00:50:41.90 showing the judgment. 00:50:41.90\00:50:43.91 That's why Jesus said it would've been better for him 00:50:43.91\00:50:45.51 not to have been born than to betray the Son of God. 00:50:45.51\00:50:48.11 So he hung himself, the rope broke and he fell. 00:50:48.11\00:50:52.01 - Okay, next caller that we have is Tony listening in Fiji. 00:50:52.01\00:50:55.58 Tony, welcome to the program. 00:50:55.58\00:50:57.02 - [Tony] Hello? - Yes. Bula. 00:50:59.12\00:51:00.92 - [Tony] Can you hear me? - I can hear you. 00:51:02.86\00:51:04.53 You hear us? 00:51:04.53\00:51:05.63 - [Tony] Oh, thank you Pastor Doug. 00:51:05.63\00:51:08.16 Thank you, sorry, I just have a question 00:51:08.16\00:51:09.06 regarding Matthew 27. 00:51:11.30\00:51:13.20 Matthew 27, verse 52 and verse 53, 00:51:14.74\00:51:17.91 it talks about when Jesus died on the cross. 00:51:19.37\00:51:23.38 Many bodies of the saints that slept, arose. 00:51:23.38\00:51:26.98 (Indistinct) and came out of the graves 00:51:26.98\00:51:30.52 after his resurrection and went into the Holy City, 00:51:30.52\00:51:34.42 appeared unto me, so I'm just wondering is this 00:51:34.42\00:51:37.76 the two separate resurrections or is it the same one? 00:51:37.76\00:51:41.23 - Well, when the graves opened during the earthquake 00:51:42.66\00:51:47.37 and it says many of the bodies of the saints 00:51:48.54\00:51:49.84 who had fallen asleep were raised and coming 00:51:49.84\00:51:51.51 outta the graves after his resurrection. 00:51:51.51\00:51:53.71 So it almost sounds like that the earthquake 00:51:53.71\00:51:56.41 opened the graves and after Christ rose, 00:51:56.41\00:51:58.78 they came out of the graves and went into the Holy City 00:51:58.78\00:52:02.25 and appeared to many. 00:52:02.25\00:52:03.82 I don't think they rose and laid in their graves 00:52:03.82\00:52:05.59 until Sunday morning, what's your? 00:52:05.59\00:52:08.99 - Yeah, I agree. I mean, it could be two ways. 00:52:08.99\00:52:11.83 The one is that they came into the city 00:52:11.83\00:52:14.20 after they were resurrected and then of course, 00:52:15.46\00:52:17.77 the graves broke open at the time of Christ's death. 00:52:17.77\00:52:21.94 So maybe their graves broke open, they were resurrected 00:52:21.94\00:52:25.61 at that point, but didn't appear until after Christ rose 00:52:25.61\00:52:28.71 from the dead or they could have been dead 00:52:28.71\00:52:31.48 until after Christ rose from the dead 00:52:31.48\00:52:33.01 and then they were resurrected, but it's the same group 00:52:33.01\00:52:35.25 that's being described. - See I always thought 00:52:35.25\00:52:36.82 it was the resurrection of Christ 00:52:36.82\00:52:38.45 that really gave them power to rise. 00:52:38.45\00:52:40.29 - [Ross] Right, he's the first resurrected. 00:52:40.29\00:52:42.49 - And then they ascended to heaven with Jesus 00:52:43.73\00:52:45.53 as the first fruits. 00:52:45.53\00:52:47.30 But yeah, wonderful, wonderful example of, 00:52:47.30\00:52:51.00 and we don't know who was in that group. 00:52:51.00\00:52:52.47 It says many of the saints, it's not all of them. 00:52:52.47\00:52:55.07 - Now, we know David wasn't in that group. 00:52:55.07\00:52:56.84 - Yeah 'cause it says in Acts chapter one, 00:52:56.84\00:52:58.77 says he's dead and buried, his grave is still with us. 00:52:58.77\00:53:01.64 - But maybe Elisha, we don't know. We can only speculate. 00:53:01.64\00:53:04.48 - Elisha. Yeah. All right, hey, thanks so much. 00:53:04.48\00:53:07.15 Do we have time for half a question, 00:53:07.15\00:53:08.52 no, it doesn't look like it. 00:53:08.52\00:53:10.72 Hey listening friends, let us just remind you, 00:53:10.72\00:53:12.92 someone mentioned during one of the questions, they said, 00:53:12.92\00:53:16.32 "We just picked up the new Amazing Facts devotional 00:53:16.32\00:53:19.33 on Revelation," Amazing Facts spent two years writing 00:53:19.33\00:53:24.37 a verse-by-verse devotional, it goes through every verse 00:53:25.77\00:53:28.07 in the book of Revelation, there's 404 verses. 00:53:28.07\00:53:30.84 We divided those 404 verses among the 365 days in a year. 00:53:30.84\00:53:35.41 And it is a daily devotional that will take you 00:53:35.41\00:53:38.21 through the entire Book of Revelation, 00:53:38.21\00:53:40.62 explaining the passages and also devotional thoughts. 00:53:41.98\00:53:44.25 I think you'll find it really encouraging and now 00:53:44.25\00:53:46.12 is a great time to pick one of those up. 00:53:46.12\00:53:47.92 So when January comes, you can say, 00:53:47.92\00:53:50.26 "I'm gonna spend this next year reading through the Book 00:53:50.26\00:53:53.43 of Revelation," especially when you consider where we are 00:53:53.43\00:53:56.23 in history right now, you'll be blessed by that, 00:53:56.23\00:53:58.50 and I think they can just go to afbookstore.com 00:53:58.50\00:54:02.40 and they'll find more information on how 00:54:02.40\00:54:04.27 they can order one of those books, 00:54:04.27\00:54:06.71 it's the Amazing Facts Revelation Devotional. 00:54:06.71\00:54:09.91 And also wanna remind you that, with this program, 00:54:09.91\00:54:12.95 we've got like two big pools of listeners. 00:54:12.95\00:54:15.42 We have some listening via satellite 00:54:15.42\00:54:17.32 and some who are listening via regular, 00:54:17.32\00:54:19.35 land-based radio stations, 00:54:19.35\00:54:21.12 they are on different time clocks, 00:54:21.12\00:54:22.49 so we're gonna say farewell in a few moments to our friends 00:54:22.49\00:54:25.59 who are listening on satellite, but don't go away, 00:54:25.59\00:54:29.13 those of you who are on all the other stations, 00:54:29.13\00:54:31.37 'cause we're gonna do rapid-fire Bible questions 00:54:31.37\00:54:34.20 and you can send in your Bible questions for the time. 00:54:34.20\00:54:37.21 - Just send them into BALquestions@amazingfacts.org. 00:54:37.21\00:54:41.31 - [Announcer] Would you like to know God's plan 00:54:43.11\00:54:44.48 for our troubled world and solutions 00:54:44.48\00:54:46.28 for your life's challenges? - Yes, I didn't say how much, 00:55:46.27\00:55:50.08 that would depend on how much you have and how much 00:55:50.08\00:55:51.88 they can handle, but you know, while you don't want, 00:55:51.88\00:55:55.28 you know, if your kids have gone away from the faith 00:55:55.28\00:55:58.12 and you're thinking, "Well, leaving money to my kids 00:55:58.12\00:56:01.32 that are unbelievers, isn't that like leaving it 00:56:01.32\00:56:03.49 into the hands of the enemy?" 00:56:03.49\00:56:05.59 You know, you want to show your kids that you do love them, 00:56:05.59\00:56:08.93 and does God also bless, does he send rain on the just 00:56:08.93\00:56:12.03 and the unjust, so I think you need to leave them something 00:56:12.03\00:56:15.50 and show them you love them, but of course, 00:56:15.50\00:56:17.27 you wanna make the work of God and the message 00:56:17.27\00:56:19.14 of God a priority, you're believing kids will understand 00:56:19.14\00:56:21.91 that but also leave something for them. 00:56:21.91\00:56:24.05 That's, I think, that's a good policy to follow, 00:56:24.05\00:56:27.28 and I think it's supported by Proverbs, as well. 00:56:27.28\00:56:30.02 - Okay, next question that we have. 00:56:30.02\00:56:31.49 Since Jesus fasted for 40 days, do we still need to fast? 00:56:31.49\00:56:35.32 - Yes, because even after Jesus fasted, 00:56:35.32\00:56:37.59 we don't need to fast 40 days, 00:56:37.59\00:56:39.63 but Christ in the Sermon on the Mount, he said, 00:56:39.63\00:56:41.66 "When you fast," he doesn't say if you fast. 00:56:41.66\00:56:44.83 And then he said that once the bridegroom is taken away, 00:56:44.83\00:56:47.37 then the friends of the bridegroom will fast. 00:56:47.37\00:56:49.50 So, Paul talks about fasting all through the New Testament. 00:56:49.50\00:56:52.74 It's something that's a healthy and a good practice 00:56:52.74\00:56:55.91 to occasionally fast as believers. 00:56:55.91\00:56:58.68 - Okay, we have a question from Dora in Maryland. 00:56:58.68\00:57:01.22 She says, "Why do most Christians say 00:57:01.22\00:57:03.18 that the 10 Commandments are not really part 00:57:03.18\00:57:05.45 of the New Covenant and don't have to be kept?" 00:57:05.45\00:57:07.99 - They misunderstood, where Paul says that we are not 00:57:07.99\00:57:10.73 under the law, they think, "Oh, 00:57:10.73\00:57:12.56 we're not under the 10 Commandments anymore." 00:57:12.56\00:57:14.30 And they assume that means we don't have to keep them. 00:57:14.30\00:57:16.50 But if you follow that to its ultimate conclusion, 00:57:16.50\00:57:18.73 it's absurd to say, "Oh, I'm a Christian. 00:57:18.73\00:57:21.90 I can now kill. I can lie. I can commit adultery. 00:57:21.90\00:57:24.81 I can steal. I can use God's name in vain." 00:57:24.81\00:57:27.21 Obviously, that's absurd. 00:57:27.21\00:57:28.81 When it says you're not under the law, 00:57:28.81\00:57:30.48 it means believers are no longer under the penalty 00:57:30.48\00:57:33.58 of the law, the penalty for sin is death. 00:57:33.58\00:57:35.95 Jesus saves us from the death penalty by His grace. 00:57:35.95\00:57:38.99 Then we want to obey God's law because we love Him. 00:57:38.99\00:57:42.79 If we're not keeping the law, Jesus said we don't know Him. 00:57:42.79\00:57:46.90 "If any man says, I know Him and keeps not His Commandments, 00:57:46.90\00:57:49.33 he's a liar and the truth is not in him." 00:57:49.33\00:57:51.60 That's what the Apostle John says. 00:57:51.60\00:57:53.64 So when we are saved by grace, we want to obey God's law 00:57:53.64\00:57:57.84 out of love, Jesus said, "If you love me, 00:57:57.84\00:58:00.14 keep my Commandments," not being under the law 00:58:00.14\00:58:02.88 simply means by grace we're saved from the penalty 00:58:02.88\00:58:05.75 of the law, not the law itself. 00:58:05.75\00:58:08.15 Hey, thank you so much friends, for listening 00:58:08.15\00:58:09.78 to "Bible Answers Live" and tell your friends 00:58:09.78\00:58:11.92 about the program, to find out more about Amazing Facts, 00:58:11.92\00:58:14.66 go to the website amazingfacts.org. 00:58:14.66\00:58:17.69 - [Announcer] "Bible Answers Live", 00:58:19.23\00:58:21.13 honest and accurate answers to your Bible questions. 00:58:21.13\00:58:24.77 (uplifting music ends) 00:58:24.77\00:58:28.10
