He was studying engineering
at the University of Michigan,

but was doing very
badly in physics and math.

If his studies did not improve

he would have to leave school,

quit his job as the janitor

at the Ann Arbor
First Methodist Church

and take the humiliating
news of his academic failure

are traveling in your car,

Now, it's interesting.

When you look at this
prophecy here in Hosea,

we have a time
period after two days

and then on the third
day we'll be raised up.

It's a reference to Israel.
00:07:10.73\00:07:12.13
That's the most
immediate context
00:07:12.13\00:07:13.93
and deliverance
that'll come to God's people.

But I think it's quite clear

that this is a prophecy not
only related to literal Israel,
00:07:17.43\00:07:20.17
but it's also a
prophecy related to Christ
00:07:20.17\00:07:22.50
because Christ rose from
the dead on the third day.

It's also interesting
that I believe Hosea,
00:07:25.67\00:07:27.54
Pastor Crews,
mentions that Israel came up
00:07:27.54\00:07:31.35
obviously as we
know, out of Egypt,
00:07:31.35\00:07:33.35
but there's also a prophecy
with reference to Christ,
00:07:33.35\00:07:35.95
and it says, "I
called my son out of Egypt."
00:07:35.95\00:07:38.89
And of course we know,
00:07:38.89\00:07:39.69
Jesus when He was still a baby,
00:07:39.69\00:07:41.39
just before Herod
slaughtered the babies
00:07:41.39\00:07:44.36
in the area of Judea,
00:07:44.36\00:07:45.83
that Joseph,
directed by an angel,
00:07:45.83\00:07:48.46
took the family down into Egypt,
00:07:48.46\00:07:50.27
and then Jesus was
brought up out of Egypt.

So we see a parallel
between ancient Israel
00:07:52.60\00:07:55.57
and we see a parallel with that
00:07:55.57\00:07:56.91
in the experiences of Christ.
00:07:56.91\00:07:58.01
And in particular,
we have a prophecy here
00:07:58.01\00:08:00.14
that refers to Christ's
death and His resurrection.

And of course,
00:08:03.08\00:08:04.11
Jesus also
speaking of His death,

He says, "tell that old fox,"
00:08:05.91\00:08:07.35
speaking of Herod,

"that I work today, tomorrow,
00:08:08.42\00:08:09.85
and the third day I'm
perfected or completed."

So we do have a
number of references,

but I think this is
a clear reference here

to the death, burial
and crucifixion of Christ.

that we're living very
close to that 6,000 year mark,

with the coming of Christ,

are taken to heaven.

And for a thousand years,

the righteous are in heaven
and they're involved in judging.

The Bible refers
to them as ruling.

The aspect of
rulership that's so significant

is that of judgment.

And they're involved in judging
the wicked, even the angels,

Not determining who's
saved and lost, God does that,

but they have something to do

with reaffirming the
decision God has made,

but also the rewards
of, or the judgements

that come upon the wicked.

And then at the end
of the thousand years,

it describes the new
Jerusalem coming down from God

prepared as a bride

foot on the Mount of Olives,

which is in Zachariah.

forms a great valley,

for the great
white throne judgment

an attack upon the golden city.

That's the promise,

ruling over the wicked

during the thousand
years here on the earth,

Jesus is coming on a white horse

with a sword symbolically

This is the second coming.

And we know from the
