Would you like to hear an 00:00:50.31\00:00:54.18 amazing fact? An anechoic chamber is a very carefully 00:00:54.18\00:00:58.42 insulated room designed to eliminate all sound. 00:00:58.42\00:01:01.52 Orfield Laboratories in Minnesota has built 00:01:01.52\00:01:04.09 what is listed as the quietest place on Earth, 00:01:04.09\00:01:07.50 a chamber so quiet that the longest anybody 00:01:07.50\00:01:10.73 has been able to bear it is 45 minutes. 00:01:10.73\00:01:13.94 It's 99.99% sound absorbent, 00:01:13.94\00:01:16.77 and it holds a Guinness World Record 00:01:17.91\00:01:19.67 for the world's quietest place. 00:01:19.67\00:01:22.54 The inside of the small room is lined on all six sides 00:01:22.54\00:01:25.61 with deep fiberglass wedges, 00:01:25.61\00:01:27.95 a double wall of insulated steel, 00:01:27.95\00:01:30.45 and one-foot-thick reinforced concrete. 00:01:30.45\00:01:33.76 Inside the room, it's so silent that background noise 00:01:33.76\00:01:37.06 is actually measured in negative decibels. 00:01:37.06\00:01:40.26 It is so quiet you'll hear your heart beating, 00:01:40.26\00:01:43.03 your stomach gurgling, I hear that anyway sometimes, 00:01:43.03\00:01:46.27 and your bone's grinding. 00:01:46.27\00:01:48.20 But the room isn't just for torturing people. 00:01:48.20\00:01:50.74 Companies rent the room to test their products 00:01:50.74\00:01:53.21 and to find out just how loud they really are. 00:01:53.21\00:01:55.41 Even NASA has sent astronauts there to help them experience 00:01:55.41\00:01:59.31 the absolute silence of space. 00:01:59.31\00:02:01.78 You know, Pastor Ross, sometimes when you live in the city 00:02:03.22\00:02:06.29 and there's all this background noise, 00:02:06.29\00:02:07.79 you long to find a place 00:02:07.79\00:02:09.12 where you can have a little bit of peace and quiet. 00:02:09.12\00:02:11.79 - Mm-hmm, even if you get out of the busyness of the city 00:02:11.79\00:02:14.83 and you go to the country, you find a quieter place, 00:02:14.83\00:02:17.83 but you still hear the wind blowing. 00:02:17.83\00:02:19.33 You hear the chirping of the birds and so on. 00:02:19.33\00:02:21.77 But a place where there is absolute silence, 00:02:21.77\00:02:24.64 you can understand why somebody 00:02:24.64\00:02:26.21 can only be in there for 45 minutes. 00:02:26.21\00:02:28.31 We're not used to that kind of silence. 00:02:28.31\00:02:30.28 - Yeah, they used to call them, I think, isolation chambers 00:02:30.28\00:02:34.32 where it would kinda isolate you 00:02:34.32\00:02:36.28 and separate you from all sound. 00:02:36.28\00:02:38.12 For some reason that sounds attractive to me. 00:02:38.12\00:02:41.59 Just some people, when it's totally quiet, 00:02:41.59\00:02:44.46 it unnerves them evidently. - Right? 00:02:44.46\00:02:46.26 - I'd like to take the test here 00:02:46.26\00:02:47.60 and see if I can make it more than 45 minutes. 00:02:47.60\00:02:49.40 I'll bet you I could, but you know, it makes me think 00:02:49.40\00:02:52.93 about a verse in the Bible that talks about silence 00:02:52.93\00:02:56.77 in a place where you wouldn't expect it 00:02:56.77\00:02:58.84 to be absolutely silent, and that's Heaven. 00:02:58.84\00:03:02.38 In Revelation 8:1 it says, "He opened the seventh seal 00:03:02.38\00:03:06.92 and there was silence in Heaven for about half an hour." 00:03:06.92\00:03:11.69 Now, normally in Heaven you figure 00:03:11.69\00:03:13.15 that the angels are singing, you know? 00:03:13.15\00:03:16.12 The visions that Isaiah had of God on His throne. 00:03:16.12\00:03:18.33 The angels are crying out "Holy, holy, holy." 00:03:18.33\00:03:21.60 And in the presence of the Lord, 00:03:21.60\00:03:22.93 you just picture there's gonna be this awesome music. 00:03:22.93\00:03:26.53 And to have that, you know, they say the worst thing 00:03:26.53\00:03:30.81 you can do in radio is have what they call dead air. 00:03:30.81\00:03:32.97 That's where you have no sound 00:03:32.97\00:03:34.91 and people will change channels. 00:03:34.91\00:03:37.81 In Heaven to have dead air, 00:03:37.81\00:03:39.51 it says about the space of half an hour. 00:03:39.51\00:03:41.92 What do you think that means? 00:03:41.92\00:03:43.62 - Well, you know, it's interesting. 00:03:43.62\00:03:44.95 You do find these different time periods in Bible prophecy, 00:03:44.95\00:03:46.92 and the Bible tells us as a principle 00:03:46.92\00:03:49.22 when interpreting Bible time prophecy, 00:03:49.22\00:03:51.69 one prophetic day is equal to one literal year. 00:03:51.69\00:03:54.76 So scholars have done the math. 00:03:54.76\00:03:56.60 There are 360 days in a Hebrew year, 24 hours in the day. 00:03:56.60\00:04:00.97 So you divide 360 by 24, you end up with 15 days, 00:04:00.97\00:04:05.11 which would be our time. 00:04:08.14\00:04:09.71 But here the verse says there's silence in Heaven 00:04:09.71\00:04:11.55 about the space of a half an hour. 00:04:11.55\00:04:13.28 So you would need to cut that 15 day in a half so- 00:04:13.28\00:04:16.35 - So 15 days prophetically would be about an hour. 00:04:16.35\00:04:18.52 - One hour, then a half an hour would be, 00:04:18.52\00:04:20.49 well, seven days, about a week. 00:04:20.49\00:04:21.96 - Mm-hmm. Yeah, that's interesting. 00:04:21.96\00:04:23.56 Now, why would it be quiet in Heaven for a week? 00:04:23.56\00:04:26.13 - Well, you'd think it would be quiet in Heaven 00:04:26.13\00:04:27.86 because something very important is happening, 00:04:27.86\00:04:30.10 and we know that when Jesus comes the second time, 00:04:30.10\00:04:32.97 He's gonna bring all of the angels with Him. 00:04:32.97\00:04:35.40 - [Doug] There you go. 00:04:35.40\00:04:36.47 - And if there's anyone else left in Heaven, 00:04:36.47\00:04:37.61 I'm sure their focus is on what's happening here 00:04:37.61\00:04:39.91 on the Earth with the second coming of Christ. 00:04:39.91\00:04:41.91 So the half an hour of silence in Heaven 00:04:41.91\00:04:44.38 is really taking place in the future 00:04:44.38\00:04:46.78 when Jesus comes the second time. 00:04:46.78\00:04:48.68 - And it's at the end, it's, I guess, the seventh seal. 00:04:48.68\00:04:51.32 - That's right. - Is when that happens. 00:04:51.32\00:04:52.72 Well, that makes sense 'cause it does say there in prophecy 00:04:52.72\00:04:54.96 that when Christ comes it says, 00:04:54.96\00:04:56.93 "He's coming and all the angels with Him." 00:04:56.93\00:04:59.93 Not some angels, so if all the angels 00:04:59.93\00:05:02.00 that sing God's praise in Heaven are gone, 00:05:02.00\00:05:05.40 it would be quiet. 00:05:05.40\00:05:06.77 - Now, it is interesting if there's seven days of silence 00:05:06.77\00:05:09.00 in Heaven, well, that would mean that it'll probably take 00:05:09.00\00:05:12.01 about seven days for the journey from Earth back to Heaven. 00:05:12.01\00:05:14.98 I don't think it takes three and a half days for Jesus 00:05:14.98\00:05:17.35 to come with the angels 00:05:17.35\00:05:18.71 and then three and a half days to go back because you know, 00:05:18.71\00:05:20.82 angels can travel at the speed of thought. 00:05:20.82\00:05:23.22 So I would assume then that Christ and the angels 00:05:23.22\00:05:25.95 come quickly to the Earth 00:05:25.95\00:05:27.52 and then the journey back to Heaven takes about seven days. 00:05:27.52\00:05:30.76 - Maybe take us on a little tour. 00:05:30.76\00:05:31.99 - That's right, 00:05:31.99\00:05:33.06 - Some things to see on the way back. 00:05:33.06\00:05:34.30 - Scenic route. - Yeah, the scenic route. 00:05:34.30\00:05:35.56 Well, we're looking forward 00:05:35.56\00:05:36.63 to what the Bible calls the blessed hope 00:05:36.63\00:05:38.93 when Jesus comes again. 00:05:38.93\00:05:40.54 And there's several references to the second coming 00:05:40.54\00:05:42.77 in the prophecies of Daniel and Revelation. 00:05:42.77\00:05:45.47 We have a study guide, a free guide 00:05:45.47\00:05:47.71 if someone wants to study and learn something 00:05:47.71\00:05:49.84 about not only the nearness of Jesus' return 00:05:49.84\00:05:53.05 according to the prophecies, 00:05:53.05\00:05:54.42 but something about how He's gonna return 00:05:54.42\00:05:56.82 because we know Satan's gonna try to trick people 00:05:56.82\00:05:59.19 and they'll be false Christ and he'll maybe even try 00:05:59.19\00:06:01.92 to fabricate the second coming somehow. 00:06:01.92\00:06:04.46 We want to know something about that, 00:06:04.46\00:06:06.16 and we have a free offer. - 00:08:28.04\00:08:31.87 And I know we tend to, you know, 00:08:31.87\00:08:34.08 try to be more reserved in church 00:08:34.08\00:08:35.81 and more reflective and solemn in church. 00:08:35.81\00:08:38.31 But is there a role for the emotion of excitement? 00:08:38.31\00:08:41.62 And I'm trying to figure out, 00:08:41.62\00:08:42.75 what's the biblical balance for the two? 00:08:42.75\00:08:45.22 - Yeah, that is a great question. 00:08:45.22\00:08:47.39 You know, when you read the Bible, you'll find examples. 00:08:47.39\00:08:50.26 Well, first of all, let me just set a big context for this. 00:08:50.26\00:08:55.30 When we're in the presence of God, 00:08:56.40\00:08:57.20 the Bible teaches consistently 00:08:57.20\00:08:58.73 that there should be reverence. 00:08:58.73\00:09:01.07 Now, you find verses in the Bible that says 00:09:01.07\00:09:03.41 the Lord is in His holy temple. 00:09:03.41\00:09:04.71 Let all the Earth keep silent, speaking of silence. 00:09:04.71\00:09:07.74 So there's a time for silence in reverence. 00:09:07.74\00:09:11.18 Then you find when they gathered 00:09:11.18\00:09:12.78 for the reading of the Word in the Book of Ezra, 00:09:12.78\00:09:14.88 the people were convicted and they wept. 00:09:14.88\00:09:17.82 And then Ezra told the people, "Do not weep. 00:09:17.82\00:09:21.16 Today is a day for rejoicing." 00:09:21.16\00:09:23.76 And there are times when Solomon dedicated the temple 00:09:23.76\00:09:27.40 and the fire, God came down, the people fell on their faces. 00:09:27.40\00:09:30.10 There was fear and there was all... 00:09:30.10\00:09:31.83 So you can see based on the context of what's happening, 00:09:31.83\00:09:35.74 the preacher might be preaching a sermon 00:09:35.74\00:09:37.27 where some are greatly comforted and there's rejoicing. 00:09:37.27\00:09:40.64 Others might be convicted and there's like the publican 00:09:40.64\00:09:44.61 that smote upon his breast and said, 00:09:44.61\00:09:46.31 "Lord, be merciful to me, a sinner." 00:09:46.31\00:09:48.12 So all things should be done in the context of reverence. 00:09:48.12\00:09:52.59 We've all seen church services probably on TV 00:09:52.59\00:09:54.59 where it looks like a hootenanny 00:09:54.59\00:09:57.09 and there's just, it's chaos. 00:09:57.09\00:09:59.33 Paul says, "Let all things be done decently in order." 00:09:59.33\00:10:02.10 But that doesn't mean there shouldn't be great joy. 00:10:02.10\00:10:05.50 I think when people sing, look at all the psalms 00:10:05.50\00:10:07.47 that talk about, you know, joy to the Lord and rejoicing. 00:10:07.47\00:10:11.14 Now, if my rejoicing totally distracts the other person, 00:10:11.14\00:10:14.78 I went to a church where there was this one individual 00:10:14.78\00:10:18.35 that every time I made a point there was a loud hallelujah 00:10:18.35\00:10:23.25 that would almost make the people around them jump. 00:10:24.62\00:10:27.09 And I appreciated the encouragement, 00:10:27.09\00:10:29.29 but it was distracting everybody else 'cause it was so loud 00:10:29.29\00:10:32.66 that I had to ask them, I said, 00:10:32.66\00:10:35.60 "Look, can you dial the volume down a little bit?" 00:10:35.60\00:10:39.47 So you don't want your rejoicing or your weeping 00:10:39.47\00:10:42.84 or whatever it is to be a spectacle 00:10:42.84\00:10:44.84 that's gonna distract other people from hearing the Word 00:10:44.84\00:10:47.78 so there's that balance. 00:10:47.78\00:10:49.04 I don't know. What do you think, Pastor Ross? 00:10:49.04\00:10:50.45 - Yeah, absolutely. 00:10:50.45\00:10:51.98 You know, when one enters into the presence of God 00:10:51.98\00:10:53.48 or into a house of worship, the church, 00:10:53.48\00:10:55.75 and you're gonna worship, I think it's appropriate 00:10:55.75\00:10:57.25 to come in with reverence, with quietness, 00:10:57.25\00:10:59.72 understanding that you're in the presence of God 00:10:59.72\00:11:01.82 and you're preparing your heart for worship. 00:11:01.82\00:11:03.53 But as you mentioned throughout the worship service, 00:11:03.53\00:11:05.56 there are appropriate times for singing 00:11:05.56\00:11:09.30 and rejoicing and praising God. 00:11:09.30\00:11:11.50 But there are also other times for quiet reflection, 00:11:11.50\00:11:14.07 contemplation, listening to the Word. 00:11:14.07\00:11:17.11 So I think that you need to be balanced. 00:11:17.11\00:11:18.44 - And then Joel even says it's time to wail and, 00:11:18.44\00:11:20.81 he's talking about repentance, though. 00:11:20.81\00:11:22.18 - Right. - He says there are times 00:11:22.18\00:11:23.65 when people should repent and he said 00:11:23.65\00:11:25.35 they should wail and weep and those are, you know, 00:11:25.35\00:11:29.02 hopefully not the weekly service. 00:11:29.02\00:11:30.69 - [Jean] Right. 00:11:30.69\00:11:31.99 - But yeah, so great question, Anthony. 00:11:31.99\00:11:33.89 I don't know if that helped your answer at all. 00:11:33.89\00:11:35.69 But you know, like it says here, 00:11:35.69\00:11:38.43 you gave us a Scripture from Solomon. 00:11:38.43\00:11:40.60 "To everything there's a season 00:11:40.60\00:11:41.83 and a time for every purpose under Heaven." 00:11:41.83\00:11:43.97 So there are times for fasting in prayer and maybe weeping. 00:11:43.97\00:11:47.57 There certainly are times for rejoicing 00:11:47.57\00:11:50.47 as the angels rejoice and praising God. 00:11:50.47\00:11:53.58 The Gospel is called good news. It's the context, I think. 00:11:53.58\00:11:57.25 - Okay, very good. - Always done with reverence. 00:11:57.25\00:11:59.41 - We've got Cole listening in North Dakota. 00:11:59.41\00:12:01.58 Cole, welcome to the program. 00:12:01.58\00:12:04.05 - [Cole] Thank you. Thank you. 00:12:04.85\00:12:07.36 The question I have is from Isaiah 45:7. 00:12:07.36\00:12:10.76 It's, I'll read the text real quick. 00:12:14.30\00:12:16.80 - [Doug] Okay. 00:12:16.80\00:12:18.60 - [Cole] "I form the light, and create darkness. 00:12:18.60\00:12:20.90 I make peace, and create evil. 00:12:20.90\00:12:22.50 I the Lord do all these things." 00:12:22.50\00:12:24.84 I know other translations use words like calamity 00:12:24.84\00:12:27.58 or disaster, but I had a discussion with some people 00:12:27.58\00:12:31.91 about this and they made a point 00:12:31.91\00:12:33.68 about God does create evil for glory. 00:12:33.68\00:12:36.45 But my question is, 00:12:36.45\00:12:37.55 does God actually create evil if He's perfect? 00:12:37.55\00:12:41.52 - Yeah, no, this is actually, I think, 00:12:42.89\00:12:44.73 at least in the King James Version, 00:12:44.73\00:12:46.46 it's sort of an unfortunate translation. 00:12:46.46\00:12:48.56 We get that question a lot where God says, "I create evil." 00:12:48.56\00:12:53.47 You look at the Book of Job 00:12:53.47\00:12:54.94 and look at the calamities that came upon Job. 00:12:54.94\00:12:59.14 And here the devil came to God and said, 00:12:59.14\00:13:02.28 "You know, Job, the only reason he serves You 00:13:02.28\00:13:04.45 is because You've hedged him in with angels. 00:13:04.45\00:13:06.82 You protect him and you bless him. 00:13:06.82\00:13:08.22 And if You take away Your protection, 00:13:08.22\00:13:10.09 he'll curse You to Your face." 00:13:10.09\00:13:11.42 And God says, "Okay, I'm going to withdraw my protection, 00:13:11.42\00:13:14.29 but there's limits on what you can do." 00:13:14.29\00:13:15.96 So God is sovereign in the sense 00:13:15.96\00:13:18.89 that He had to loosen the devil's leash, 00:13:18.89\00:13:21.90 but it was the devil that did it. 00:13:21.90\00:13:24.23 So God created a beautiful angel who was given a free will 00:13:24.23\00:13:28.74 who chose to do evil. 00:13:28.74\00:13:30.54 Now, the Bible says every good, 00:13:31.87\00:13:33.98 and this is the Book of James, 00:13:33.98\00:13:35.44 "Every good and perfect gift comes from God." 00:13:35.44\00:13:38.85 Jesus said, "God is good." 00:13:38.85\00:13:41.08 And so you cannot be simultaneously light and 00:13:42.62\00:13:46.02 darkness, good and evil. - Mm-hmm. 00:13:46.02\00:13:47.36 Well, we know the consequence of evil 00:13:47.36\00:13:49.29 is sorrow, suffering, and death. 00:13:49.29\00:13:51.76 You know, it's rebellion. 00:13:51.76\00:13:53.36 And God wouldn't create something that would lead 00:13:53.36\00:13:56.43 to rebellion, suffering, and death contrary to His nature. 00:13:56.43\00:13:59.47 God is a God of love. 00:13:59.47\00:14:00.84 So if you look in the Bible- - In this verse, yeah. 00:14:00.84\00:14:01.97 - The devil's really the author of evil. 00:14:01.97\00:14:04.61 - Exactly, so this verse, 00:14:04.61\00:14:06.11 we kind of strayed a little bit from it, 00:14:06.11\00:14:07.88 but the verse that you're talking about in Isaiah 45:7 00:14:07.88\00:14:11.41 where He said, "I make peace and create evil," 00:14:11.41\00:14:15.32 as you mentioned, like the New King James 00:14:16.38\00:14:18.89 says, "create calamity." 00:14:18.89\00:14:20.22 And the word there would really be, I allow calamity. 00:14:20.22\00:14:23.69 So sometimes God allows trials to come. 00:14:23.69\00:14:27.10 And when the flood came on the world, 00:14:27.10\00:14:30.47 well, God said "I'm going to send a flood." 00:14:30.47\00:14:33.87 It's the language that He uses. It was to punish the evil. 00:14:33.87\00:14:37.44 And so Isaiah's saying I'm the One 00:14:37.44\00:14:40.38 who ultimately has sovereign final power. 00:14:40.38\00:14:44.31 Hope that helps. Good question. 00:14:44.31\00:14:46.58 - Next caller that we have is Solace listening in Arkansas. 00:14:46.58\00:14:49.28 Solace, welcome to the program. 00:14:49.28\00:14:51.62 - [Solace] Hello, Pastors. - Hi. 00:14:51.62\00:14:54.16 - [Solace] Thank you for having me. 00:14:54.16\00:14:55.79 My question is on Luke 16:9, 00:14:55.79\00:14:58.19 and it's after the parable of the unjust steward. 00:15:00.56\00:15:04.60 And it's when Jesus says, "And I say to you, 00:15:04.60\00:15:07.74 make friends for yourselves by means of unrighteous wealth 00:15:07.74\00:15:11.87 that when you fail, they may receive you 00:15:11.87\00:15:13.81 into the everlasting home." 00:15:13.81\00:15:15.84 So I'm kind of confused on that. Could you explain that? 00:15:15.84\00:15:19.25 - Yeah, this is a parable 00:15:19.25\00:15:20.62 that has left a lot of people wondering. 00:15:20.62\00:15:22.92 Jesus talks about this steward that is very unfaithful 00:15:22.92\00:15:27.79 and realizing he's gonna be fired. 00:15:27.79\00:15:29.86 He enters into agreements with the debtors of his master 00:15:29.86\00:15:34.10 so that they basically become accomplices with him. 00:15:34.10\00:15:37.07 And Jesus is, He's complimenting. 00:15:37.07\00:15:39.90 And you can read this in verse eight, I believe. 00:15:41.34\00:15:43.67 It says, "So the master commended the unjust steward." 00:15:43.67\00:15:46.88 Why would he commend somebody unjust? 00:15:46.88\00:15:48.68 He's not commending him for being unjust. 00:15:48.68\00:15:50.45 He's saying what you've done is wise. 00:15:50.45\00:15:52.58 You are looking ahead 00:15:52.58\00:15:54.42 and you are making plans to protect your future. 00:15:54.42\00:15:57.92 And you notice in the end of this parable, 00:15:57.92\00:15:59.85 He says that the children of this age 00:15:59.85\00:16:03.46 are often wiser than the children of light. 00:16:03.46\00:16:06.39 Meaning that the people in the world, you know, 00:16:06.39\00:16:09.40 they'll do things to plan to secure their future. 00:16:09.40\00:16:12.50 But a lot of people say the believers 00:16:12.50\00:16:14.20 aren't really planning for their everlasting future. 00:16:14.20\00:16:17.64 So when He says, "I say make for yourself friends 00:16:17.64\00:16:21.41 of unrighteous mammon that when you fail, 00:16:21.41\00:16:24.85 they may receive you into an everlasting home," 00:16:24.85\00:16:27.32 I think Jesus is saying that we ought to invest 00:16:27.32\00:16:30.15 using the world's resources, invest in saving people. 00:16:30.15\00:16:34.16 We're gonna see them through eternity in Heaven. 00:16:34.16\00:16:37.03 You got any thoughts on that? 00:16:37.03\00:16:38.63 - Yeah, I think you're right, Pastor. 00:16:38.63\00:16:40.23 You know, sometimes in the parables of Jesus, 00:16:40.23\00:16:41.90 Jesus uses contrast to illustrate the important truth. 00:16:41.90\00:16:45.57 So if the wicked are preparing for their eternal future, 00:16:45.57\00:16:49.40 meaning distraction 'cause they focus 00:16:49.40\00:16:51.61 on the things of this Earth, shouldn't we as believers 00:16:51.61\00:16:54.08 also be preparing for what we believe to be a future 00:16:54.08\00:16:57.45 in paradise with Christ and with the saved, 00:16:57.45\00:17:00.18 the redeemed in Heaven? 00:17:00.18\00:17:01.45 We need to be preparing for that. 00:17:01.45\00:17:03.82 We need to be getting ready for that. 00:17:03.82\00:17:05.19 And as you said, utilizing our resources and our influence 00:17:05.19\00:17:08.06 to help get other people into the kingdom as well. 00:17:08.06\00:17:10.49 - Yep, so hope that helps a little, Solace, 00:17:10.49\00:17:13.70 and we sure appreciate your call. 00:17:13.70\00:17:15.43 - Next caller that we have is Joan listening in Arkansas. 00:17:15.43\00:17:18.43 Joan, welcome to the program. 00:17:18.43\00:17:19.97 - [Joan] I think you mean Joan from Anchorage, Alaska. 00:17:19.97\00:17:23.41 - Oh there it is, okay. - That's it, sorry Joan. 00:17:23.41\00:17:25.14 - From Alaska, welcome. - That's you. 00:17:25.14\00:17:27.84 - [Joan] Well, good evening, Pastors. 00:17:27.84\00:17:30.35 I was wondering if you could help me to understand 00:17:30.35\00:17:34.65 who the eight kings are 00:17:34.65\00:17:36.65 that are mentioned in Revelation 17:10-11. 00:17:37.75\00:17:41.42 I can read that for you. 00:17:41.42\00:17:42.82 - I'll tell you what, Joan, 00:17:42.82\00:17:44.06 why don't you let us read it 00:17:44.06\00:17:45.39 because you were getting terrible feedback. 00:17:45.39\00:17:47.60 You may have your radio on in the background. 00:17:47.60\00:17:51.20 - [Joan] Really? 00:17:51.20\00:17:52.33 - Yeah, so if, I don't know if you can turn- 00:17:52.33\00:17:54.34 - [Joan] How is it now? 00:17:54.34\00:17:55.90 - [Jean] There we go. - That's better. 00:17:55.90\00:17:56.77 So you go ahead, you can read it. 00:17:56.77\00:17:58.64 - [Joan] Okay, it says, "There are also," no here, 00:17:58.64\00:18:02.74 this is verse nine, "Here is the mind which has wisdom. 00:18:02.74\00:18:06.61 The seven heads are seven mountains on which the woman 00:18:06.61\00:18:11.32 sits. There are also seven kings. Five have fallen. 00:18:11.32\00:18:15.56 One is and the other has not yet come. 00:18:15.56\00:18:18.76 And when he comes, he must continue a short time. 00:18:18.76\00:18:22.46 And the beast that was and is not, 00:18:22.46\00:18:25.40 is himself also the eighth, and is of the seventh 00:18:25.40\00:18:29.54 and is going into perdition. - Okay. 00:18:30.94\00:18:33.41 - [Joan] So I was just wondering 00:18:33.41\00:18:34.78 if you could let me know who these eight kings are. 00:18:34.78\00:18:37.88 - All right, good. We'll do our best. 00:18:37.88\00:18:39.78 Now, I'll just go, I'll tell you right at the outset 00:18:39.78\00:18:43.65 that even within my church, 00:18:43.65\00:18:45.52 there are probably four major interpretations of this. 00:18:45.52\00:18:48.92 You know, we're not cookie cutters 00:18:48.92\00:18:50.63 where everybody has every answer for everything 00:18:50.63\00:18:52.89 and so there are different views on this prophecy. 00:18:52.89\00:18:55.60 I'll tell you what I teach and what you're gonna find 00:18:55.60\00:18:57.73 typically in the Amazing Facts lessons. 00:18:57.73\00:18:59.60 It says that this woman is sitting on seven mountains. 00:18:59.60\00:19:02.50 Well, most scholars believe that the woman of Revelation 17 00:19:02.50\00:19:07.14 is talking about the papacy. 00:19:07.14\00:19:08.88 A woman is a church. 00:19:08.88\00:19:10.88 Here is a woman who's been unfaithful because the papacy, 00:19:10.88\00:19:14.32 they started to turn to idolatry and they, you know, 00:19:14.32\00:19:18.09 adopted a number of pagan doctrines. 00:19:18.09\00:19:20.96 They were seen as the harlot or the unfaithful woman. 00:19:20.96\00:19:25.06 Sitting among seven hills. Rome is the city of seven hills. 00:19:25.06\00:19:28.40 Now, this is what Luther and Calvin and Spurgeon and Wesley, 00:19:28.40\00:19:32.47 that many Protestants taught and unitedly believe this, 00:19:32.47\00:19:36.67 but it says that those seven hills are also seven kings 00:19:36.67\00:19:39.97 or kingdoms on which she sits. 00:19:39.97\00:19:42.71 It says five are fallen. 00:19:42.71\00:19:44.38 Now, some take the perspective that when John wrote this, 00:19:44.38\00:19:48.15 Rome, pagan Rome was in power. 00:19:48.15\00:19:50.35 So the five before would be, you've got the five powers 00:19:50.35\00:19:55.16 that occupied God's people which were Egypt, Assyria, 00:19:55.16\00:19:59.93 Babylon, Medo-Persia, and Greece, five are fallen. 00:19:59.93\00:20:04.53 After Greece fell, it says one is, 00:20:04.53\00:20:06.30 that would be Pagan Rome, Rome ruled by Caesars. 00:20:06.30\00:20:10.07 Then the one who is the spiritual problem 00:20:10.07\00:20:13.58 would be the seventh, which is the papacy. 00:20:14.84\00:20:17.88 But it receives a deadly wound 00:20:17.88\00:20:20.32 and recovers and comes back into power. 00:20:20.32\00:20:22.52 That's why it says he's also the eighth. 00:20:22.52\00:20:24.05 How can the seventh also be the eighth 00:20:24.05\00:20:25.55 unless it takes a break and comes back? 00:20:25.55\00:20:29.26 And it talks about this beast receiving a deadly one, 00:20:29.26\00:20:31.69 but the wound is healed in Revelation 13. 00:20:31.69\00:20:34.03 So hopefully you could take that all, and that's the way 00:20:34.03\00:20:37.23 that a number of scholars understand it, but not all. 00:20:37.23\00:20:41.64 And I think you'd find that in our lessons. 00:20:43.30\00:20:45.84 I don't remember what lesson it is. 00:20:45.84\00:20:48.01 Oh, that's the woman. 00:20:48.01\00:20:49.68 - Yeah, "The Other Woman." - The mystery, yeah. 00:20:49.68\00:20:52.11 - Is what it's called. 00:20:52.11\00:20:53.65 - It's a lesson called "The Other Woman" that you can get. 00:20:53.65\00:20:55.22 - And if you'd like to receive the lesson just call and ask. 00:20:55.22\00:20:57.32 The number to call for that is 800-835-6747. 00:20:57.32\00:21:01.49 And you can ask for the study guide. 00:21:01.49\00:21:03.02 It's called "The Other Woman," 00:21:03.02\00:21:04.43 and we'll be happy to send that out 00:21:04.43\00:21:05.43 to anyone who calls and asks. 00:21:05.43\00:21:07.03 - Thank you Joan from Arkansas, Alaska. 00:21:07.03\00:21:09.06 - Yeah, thanks for your call. 00:21:09.06\00:21:10.83 Next caller that we have is Edna from Michigan. 00:21:10.83\00:21:14.84 Edna, welcome to the program. 00:21:14.84\00:21:17.44 - [Edna] Hi, guys. Thank you for taking my phone call. 00:21:17.44\00:21:20.14 - Yeah. 00:21:20.14\00:21:21.48 - [Edna] My question tonight comes out of Revelation, 00:21:21.48\00:21:23.78 and it's about the seven last plagues. 00:21:23.78\00:21:26.08 I know the controversy is about God's seventh day Sabbath 00:21:26.08\00:21:30.82 and man worshiping on the first day 00:21:30.82\00:21:34.12 and about the time of trouble, the close of probation. 00:21:34.12\00:21:37.76 But I do not understand, 00:21:37.76\00:21:40.33 what is the purpose of the seven last plagues? 00:21:40.33\00:21:44.50 - Okay, good. 00:21:44.50\00:21:46.40 Keep in mind the seven last plagues 00:21:46.40\00:21:48.37 are something of a parallel to what happened in Exodus. 00:21:48.37\00:21:52.77 In Exodus, God was getting ready to take His people 00:21:52.77\00:21:55.08 from slavery to the promised land. 00:21:55.08\00:21:57.25 Jesus is getting ready to take His people from the slavery 00:21:57.25\00:22:00.35 of the devil in this world to the promised land of Heaven. 00:22:00.35\00:22:03.85 And there's these 10 plagues that fell on Egypt. 00:22:03.85\00:22:08.19 Now, the last seven of the 10 plagues, 00:22:08.19\00:22:11.63 God protects even the Israelites from those, 00:22:11.63\00:22:14.00 it doesn't affect the land of Goshen. 00:22:14.00\00:22:15.86 So you've got the seven plagues of Egypt 00:22:15.86\00:22:18.20 do not affect the Israelites. 00:22:18.20\00:22:20.34 The first three did. 00:22:20.34\00:22:21.97 And you're saying, well if probation's closed, 00:22:21.97\00:22:24.44 then why is God allowing this? 00:22:24.44\00:22:26.27 Well, for one thing, it's showing they did not repent. 00:22:26.27\00:22:31.18 When the plagues came on the Egyptians, 00:22:31.18\00:22:33.31 even the Pharaoh says he repented, 00:22:33.31\00:22:35.15 and the Egyptians said, "Let them go." 00:22:35.15\00:22:37.02 There was some repentance, but the wicked of the world, 00:22:37.02\00:22:40.09 they have no redeemable qualities left. 00:22:40.09\00:22:41.89 They've hardened their hearts. 00:22:41.89\00:22:43.12 There's nothing that God can do. 00:22:43.12\00:22:44.89 And He's demonstrating to their friends, family, 00:22:44.89\00:22:47.10 and unfallen worlds that the world, even under these trials 00:22:47.10\00:22:50.83 does not soften their hearts and turn to God, 00:22:50.83\00:22:53.64 but they harden their hearts and they blaspheme 00:22:53.64\00:22:55.90 and they curse God so it's something of a demonstration. 00:22:55.90\00:22:59.54 - You know, under the fifth plague 00:22:59.54\00:23:00.74 that you read about in Revelation 16:11, 00:23:00.74\00:23:03.21 well, let me start in verse 10. 00:23:03.21\00:23:04.58 It says, "Then the fifth angel poured out his bowl 00:23:04.58\00:23:06.65 on the throne of the beast 00:23:06.65\00:23:07.72 and the kingdom became full of darkness, 00:23:07.72\00:23:09.48 and they gnawed their tongues because of the pain." 00:23:09.48\00:23:11.32 And then the next verse says, 00:23:11.32\00:23:12.42 "They blasphemed the God of Heaven 00:23:12.42\00:23:14.49 because of the pains and because of the sores, 00:23:14.49\00:23:16.52 and they did not repent of their deeds." 00:23:16.52\00:23:18.89 So it's evident here that they recognize 00:23:18.89\00:23:20.96 that these are judgments coming from God, 00:23:20.96\00:23:22.73 but their heart is so hardened that they rebel 00:23:22.73\00:23:25.17 even under these judgments 00:23:25.17\00:23:27.04 and they blaspheme the name of God. 00:23:27.04\00:23:28.67 - That's right. 00:23:28.67\00:23:30.07 - So the plagues reveal the true condition of the heart. 00:23:30.07\00:23:32.61 But at the same time, you find another group in Revelation 00:23:32.61\00:23:35.44 that when the plagues have been falling upon the Earth, 00:23:35.44\00:23:38.01 they're trusting in God. 00:23:38.01\00:23:39.78 They're rejoicing 'cause they know the end is coming. 00:23:39.78\00:23:41.75 Their faith is being tested and tried, 00:23:41.75\00:23:43.32 but they are shown to be genuine, they're true. 00:23:43.32\00:23:46.09 And those are the ones that have the seal of God. 00:23:46.09\00:23:47.89 So the plagues reveal the two groups at the end of time. 00:23:47.89\00:23:50.83 - And they are something of a judgment 00:23:50.83\00:23:52.23 because when the ocean and the springs become blood, 00:23:52.23\00:23:55.93 the angel says, "They've shed the blood of the saints. 00:23:55.93\00:23:58.13 You're giving them blood to drink." 00:23:58.13\00:23:59.40 - Right. - So it's they're kind of, 00:23:59.40\00:24:00.87 it's something of a judgment as well as a demonstration. 00:24:00.87\00:24:04.71 Thanks. That's a good question, Edna. 00:24:04.71\00:24:07.08 We appreciate it. 00:24:07.08\00:24:08.21 - All right, maybe one more question 00:24:08.21\00:24:10.21 before we take our break. 00:24:10.21\00:24:11.18 We have Dez listening in Florida. 00:24:11.18\00:24:12.85 Dez, welcome to the program. 00:24:12.85\00:24:15.32 - [Dez] Hello, welcome, thank you. 00:24:15.32\00:24:16.95 - Hi. 00:24:16.95\00:24:18.09 - [Dez] I'm calling about the last days 00:24:18.09\00:24:20.82 'cause I know this is something that we talked about, 00:24:20.82\00:24:23.29 supposed to leave the city. - Mm-hmm. 00:24:23.29\00:24:25.16 - [Dez] And move into the country or somewhere. 00:24:25.16\00:24:28.10 And I don't understand. 00:24:28.10\00:24:30.63 I mean, I don't know. It's hard to say it. 00:24:30.63\00:24:32.83 - Yeah, that's a good question. 00:24:32.83\00:24:34.17 In the last days when Jesus says in Matthew 24, 00:24:34.17\00:24:37.87 "When you see the abomination of desolation 00:24:37.87\00:24:40.11 standing in the holy place, let those that be in Judea 00:24:40.11\00:24:42.44 flee into the mountains." 00:24:42.44\00:24:43.91 I think in Luke it says, 00:24:43.91\00:24:45.75 "When you see Jerusalem encompassed with armies, 00:24:45.75\00:24:47.72 let those that be in Judea flee into the mountains." 00:24:47.72\00:24:50.25 So for ancient Israel, 00:24:50.25\00:24:52.45 when the abomination of desolation came, 00:24:52.45\00:24:55.16 the Roman armies surrounded them. 00:24:55.16\00:24:56.96 That was a signal to flee. 00:24:56.96\00:24:58.93 There was a brief break in that siege and they fled. 00:24:58.93\00:25:03.30 In the last days, God's people are gonna be hedged in again 00:25:03.30\00:25:06.80 by laws, religious laws that compel worship. 00:25:06.80\00:25:10.34 First, you can't buy or sell 00:25:10.34\00:25:11.74 and ultimately there'll be a death decree. 00:25:11.74\00:25:13.94 And when we see that those laws are coming, 00:25:13.94\00:25:17.25 that's gonna be a time for, 00:25:17.25\00:25:19.25 we probably want to get out of the cities. 00:25:19.25\00:25:20.72 And especially, and that doesn't mean everybody can afford 00:25:20.72\00:25:23.92 to, you know, sell their home and go buy a country estate, 00:25:23.92\00:25:28.82 but we should be moving towards more remote places. 00:25:28.82\00:25:32.13 I think the Lord is warning us this very practically. 00:25:32.13\00:25:35.30 We saw in recent years there's been some social unrest 00:25:35.30\00:25:39.37 and cities were on fire and there are places in, 00:25:39.37\00:25:43.44 you know, Portland, Oregon and stuff, 00:25:45.57\00:25:47.71 you couldn't even drive downtown. 00:25:47.71\00:25:49.31 We had some friends that lived there 00:25:49.31\00:25:50.98 and they said it was just terrible. 00:25:50.98\00:25:52.91 And a number of Minneapolis and Florida 00:25:52.91\00:25:56.92 and Washington, D.C., you know, 00:25:56.92\00:25:58.59 police marching up the street. 00:25:58.59\00:26:00.06 You didn't see that kind of rioting going on in Podunk, 00:26:00.06\00:26:04.76 you know, these little farm towns, 00:26:04.76\00:26:07.60 they didn't have that same kind of threat. 00:26:07.60\00:26:09.03 So you're a little safer 00:26:09.03\00:26:10.27 in more remote communities during that time 00:26:10.27\00:26:12.13 and so I think that's the warning. 00:26:12.13\00:26:13.84 Then you got that verse there in Isaiah. 00:26:13.84\00:26:16.24 "Woe unto them that join house to house 00:26:16.24\00:26:18.34 and lay field to field, till there's no place 00:26:18.34\00:26:20.41 that a man can be alone on the Earth." 00:26:20.41\00:26:22.11 It's nice to have a place more alone. 00:26:22.11\00:26:24.41 We're gonna take a break, 00:26:24.41\00:26:25.71 come back with more Bible questions after these messages. 00:26:25.71\00:26:29.12 (dramatic music) 00:26:29.12\00:26:31.95 - [Announcer] Stay tuned. 00:26:33.09\00:26:34.22 "Bible Answers Live" will return shortly. 00:26:34.22\00:26:38.06 (dramatic music) 00:26:38.06\00:26:40.63 - Every year, 40,000 souls in North America 00:26:40.63\00:26:43.30 end their own lives. 00:26:43.30\00:26:45.37 Suicide is a terrible tragedy. 00:26:45.37\00:26:47.34 And while it's difficult to talk about, 00:26:47.34\00:26:49.50 we need to face it together as Christians. 00:26:49.50\00:26:52.37 That's why in my new book, "Choosing Life," 00:26:52.37\00:26:54.78 I share the biblical perspective about suicide, 00:26:54.78\00:26:57.85 answering some difficult questions 00:26:57.85\00:26:59.75 about faith and salvation along the way 00:26:59.75\00:27:01.85 and offering practical tips 00:27:01.85\00:27:03.72 that should help and encourage others. 00:27:03.72\00:27:05.89 Jesus wants us to choose an abundant life in Him. 00:27:05.89\00:27:10.06 (soft instrumental music) 00:27:11.66\00:27:15.20 - [Announcer] What if you could know the future? 00:27:24.24\00:27:28.14 What would you do? 00:27:28.14\00:27:30.25 What would you change? 00:27:30.25\00:27:32.71 To see the future, you must understand the past. 00:27:32.71\00:27:37.25 - [Narrator] Alexander the Great becomes king 00:27:37.25\00:27:38.39 when he is only 18, but he's a military prodigy. 00:27:38.39\00:27:42.56 - [Narrator] 150 years in advance, Cyrus had been named. 00:27:42.56\00:27:47.60 Rome was violent. Eat, drink, and be merry."' 00:31:01.39\00:31:03.83 But God said to him, 'Fool! 00:31:03.83\00:31:05.93 This night your soul will be required of you. 00:31:05.93\00:31:08.20 Then whose will those things be which you have provided?'" 00:31:08.20\00:31:12.30 And Jesus says, "So is he who lays up treasure 00:31:12.30\00:31:14.54 for himself and is not rich towards God." 00:31:14.54\00:31:16.77 We certainly don't want to be hoarding 00:31:16.77\00:31:18.77 and stockpiling resources. 00:31:18.77\00:31:21.01 You know, and this is a great question, Paul, 00:31:22.74\00:31:25.25 because well, does that mean everybody 00:31:25.25\00:31:27.82 is to give away everything they have right now? 00:31:27.82\00:31:30.79 Does it mean we should save nothing? 00:31:30.79\00:31:33.49 And I really like the way John Wesley dealt with this issue. 00:31:33.49\00:31:36.93 He said, "A Christian should earn all they can, 00:31:36.93\00:31:40.10 they should save all they can, 00:31:40.10\00:31:42.30 and they should give all they can." 00:31:42.30\00:31:44.03 So I think there's a balance. 00:31:44.03\00:31:45.90 We don't know exactly when the Lord's gonna come. 00:31:45.90\00:31:49.07 So you know, it's probably a good idea 00:31:49.07\00:31:51.04 to have some savings for yourself and your family. 00:31:51.04\00:31:54.24 And you know, if you're working hard and you're earning, 00:31:54.24\00:31:57.48 you should also be able to give and give generously. 00:31:57.48\00:32:01.78 So that I think is the principle. 00:32:02.88\00:32:05.55 You know, even if you divided your resources 00:32:07.56\00:32:09.29 the way I just stated it, and you said, 00:32:09.29\00:32:11.89 "All right, well I'm gonna, you know, need 1/3 for living, 00:32:11.89\00:32:15.60 1/3 for saving and 1/3 for giving." 00:32:15.60\00:32:18.73 I mean, imagine how radical that would be for the Church 00:32:18.73\00:32:22.24 to say 1/3 of what I have, I'm gonna give to God's work. 00:32:22.24\00:32:25.84 Man, the Gospel would go into all the world pretty quick. 00:32:25.84\00:32:29.24 And just even the spirit that it would take to do that. 00:32:29.24\00:32:32.15 - Mm-hmm, you know, Jesus said something else in Luke 12:33. 00:32:32.15\00:32:35.65 Jesus said, "Where your treasure is, 00:32:35.65\00:32:37.42 that's where your heart is also." 00:32:37.42\00:32:39.05 So if you are utilizing our resources 00:32:39.05\00:32:41.02 to build up the kingdom of Heaven, 00:32:41.02\00:32:42.72 that's gonna be our passion. 00:32:42.72\00:32:44.13 That's where our heart is. 00:32:44.13\00:32:45.26 But if our goal is just to treasure up treasure 00:32:45.26\00:32:47.60 here on this Earth, well, our heart's in the wrong place. 00:32:47.60\00:32:50.90 - Yep, thanks, Paul. 00:32:50.90\00:32:52.10 - All right, thanks for your call. 00:32:52.10\00:32:53.34 You know, we do have a study guide. 00:32:53.34\00:32:54.60 It's called "In God We Trust," and it's talking 00:32:54.60\00:32:56.40 about what the Bible says about finance, and we'll be happy 00:32:56.40\00:32:59.01 to send this to anyone that calls and asks. 00:32:59.01\00:33:00.88 The number is 800-835-6747, 00:33:00.88\00:33:03.21 and you can ask for the study guide. 00:33:04.55\00:33:05.91 It's called "In God We Trust." 00:33:05.91\00:33:07.72 And we'll be happy to send that to anyone in North America. 00:33:07.72\00:33:10.22 - [Doug] Amen. 00:33:10.22\00:33:11.22 - We got Aaron listening in New York. 00:33:11.22\00:33:12.79 Aaron, welcome to the program. 00:33:12.79\00:33:16.02 - [Aaron] Good evening, Pastors, 00:33:16.02\00:33:17.33 and thank you for taking my call. 00:33:17.33\00:33:20.40 Jeremiah 17:21 says, "Thus says the Lord, 00:33:20.40\00:33:23.83 'Take heed to yourselves and bear no burden 00:33:24.87\00:33:28.04 on the Sabbath day, nor bring it in 00:33:28.04\00:33:30.91 to the gates of Jerusalem.'" 00:33:30.91\00:33:33.04 Well, the Jewish leaders during the time when Jesus 00:33:33.04\00:33:36.78 walked on Earth believed that one of the people Jesus healed 00:33:36.78\00:33:40.72 broke this law by carrying his bed. 00:33:40.72\00:33:43.92 But Jesus disagreed about that. 00:33:43.92\00:33:46.39 My question is, what is the meaning 00:33:46.39\00:33:48.69 of the word burden in Jeremiah 17:21? 00:33:48.69\00:33:51.83 - Yeah, well first of all, when Jesus healed a man, 00:33:53.19\00:33:55.80 He said, "Take up your bed and go to your house." 00:33:55.80\00:33:58.33 And I think he did that on a couple occasions, 00:33:58.33\00:34:00.37 once with the, well, I don't know that it was a Sabbath day. 00:34:00.37\00:34:02.90 The paralytic doesn't say it was a Sabbath. 00:34:02.90\00:34:06.51 The blind man, I think he took up his stuff and went home, 00:34:06.51\00:34:10.35 and the Pool of Bethesda. 00:34:10.35\00:34:11.91 - That was a Sabbath. - Yeah, yeah. 00:34:11.91\00:34:13.62 So that's a whole different kind of burden 00:34:13.62\00:34:17.89 than Jeremiah is talking about people 00:34:17.89\00:34:19.92 that were carrying burdens of goods to sell. 00:34:19.92\00:34:23.26 They were doing buying and selling in business 00:34:23.26\00:34:25.19 and you know, carrying... 00:34:25.19\00:34:27.96 If Jesus heals and you gotta take your sleeping bag home, 00:34:27.96\00:34:31.60 that's not Sabbath breaking. 00:34:31.60\00:34:34.00 So, you know, Jesus is saying 00:34:34.00\00:34:35.57 it's better to do good on the Sabbath day. 00:34:35.57\00:34:37.84 Some people look at the disputes 00:34:37.84\00:34:39.61 that Jesus had regarding the Sabbath. 00:34:39.61\00:34:41.68 Matter of fact, probably one of the most disputed 00:34:41.68\00:34:43.85 of the Ten Commandments that Jesus had with the scribes 00:34:43.85\00:34:48.92 and the Pharisees was regarding the Sabbath. 00:34:50.05\00:34:51.89 He never said you should not keep it. 00:34:51.89\00:34:53.56 The arguments were always about how to keep it. 00:34:53.56\00:34:56.89 And basically He said, you know, 00:34:56.89\00:34:59.13 you've put undue burdens on people asking them to, you know, 00:34:59.13\00:35:04.17 carry legalistic laws that you won't lift 00:35:05.27\00:35:07.10 with one of your fingers. 00:35:07.10\00:35:08.97 He healed a woman who was bent over on the Sabbath day 00:35:08.97\00:35:12.01 and He said, "This woman's been bound by the devil 00:35:12.01\00:35:14.81 for 18 years and you guys will untie your ox and your donkey 00:35:14.81\00:35:18.71 and water them on the Sabbath day, 00:35:18.71\00:35:20.62 or you'll milk your goat or your cow. 00:35:20.62\00:35:22.38 Why wouldn't you want to relieve the burden of this lady 00:35:22.38\00:35:25.39 on the Sabbath day and and heal her?" 00:35:25.39\00:35:27.92 So I don't know if that's answering your question, 00:35:27.92\00:35:31.13 but Aaron, hopefully that helps a little bit. 00:35:31.13\00:35:34.13 - I think the context of the whole concern 00:35:34.13\00:35:35.90 that Jeremiah has is that there were those 00:35:35.90\00:35:37.83 who were bringing in their goods into Jerusalem 00:35:37.83\00:35:39.97 on the Sabbath to sell their goods. 00:35:39.97\00:35:42.04 And finally, you know, the gates were eventually, 00:35:42.04\00:35:44.01 they had to be closed a little later 00:35:44.01\00:35:45.67 when you read about Ezra and Nehemiah. 00:35:45.67\00:35:47.24 So I think the point here 00:35:47.24\00:35:48.74 is just conducting regular business. 00:35:48.74\00:35:51.21 Of course, in those days they would go into the field. 00:35:51.21\00:35:53.78 They'd have to gather up their grain. 00:35:53.78\00:35:55.35 They'd have to carry it in into the city. 00:35:55.35\00:35:57.39 That's not an appropriate work to do in the Sabbath. 00:35:57.39\00:35:59.29 - Right. 00:35:59.29\00:36:00.49 - All right. Thank you for your call. 00:36:00.49\00:36:01.79 We've got Aaron now, also Aaron listening from California. 00:36:01.79\00:36:04.76 Aaron, welcome to the program. 00:36:04.76\00:36:07.36 - [Aaron] Good evening. 00:36:07.36\00:36:08.43 Thank you so much for taking my call. 00:36:08.43\00:36:09.46 - Yes. 00:36:09.46\00:36:11.10 - [Aaron] Pastors, I had a question. 00:36:11.10\00:36:12.57 Recently, my wife came across a video online 00:36:12.57\00:36:15.74 that had a person who, it's a personal video they made. 00:36:15.74\00:36:20.81 And in the video they sort of twisted, 00:36:21.84\00:36:24.08 I believe what they did was twist the Scripture 00:36:25.21\00:36:28.18 because they wanted to basically say 00:36:28.18\00:36:29.85 that because God created man 00:36:29.85\00:36:31.95 and God created man, male and female, 00:36:31.95\00:36:34.89 and He created them in His image 00:36:34.89\00:36:36.66 that somehow that means that God is non-binary. 00:36:36.66\00:36:40.26 And so, and I just was curious what your thoughts are 00:36:40.26\00:36:44.33 as far as perhaps maybe more specifically 00:36:44.33\00:36:46.80 what the Bible might say in reference 00:36:46.80\00:36:48.70 to how man is created in God's image. 00:36:48.70\00:36:52.47 - Well, I do think the Bible teaches us, 00:36:52.47\00:36:56.11 of course, God is a Spirit, 00:36:56.11\00:36:57.21 That doesn't mean God has no form. 00:36:57.21\00:36:59.85 The person of the Godhead that might be difficult for us 00:36:59.85\00:37:03.18 to comprehend as far as the form would be God the Spirit 00:37:03.18\00:37:06.32 who sometimes is appearing as everything 00:37:06.32\00:37:09.29 from fire and water to a dove and wind. 00:37:09.29\00:37:12.63 But when the Bible talks about the visions 00:37:13.76\00:37:17.30 that the apostles saw, Daniel and John and Ezekiel 00:37:18.60\00:37:22.64 and Isaiah, it talks about God having hands, 00:37:23.71\00:37:26.71 head, feet, legs, it says on Jesus' thigh. 00:37:26.71\00:37:30.51 And it portrays Him with, 00:37:30.51\00:37:33.18 I don't want to say it portrays Him. 00:37:33.18\00:37:35.08 It's like telling a child, your parents look like you. 00:37:35.08\00:37:38.05 Well no, they look like their parents. 00:37:38.05\00:37:39.79 So you know, Jesus is portrayed 00:37:39.79\00:37:42.89 having these features that we have. 00:37:42.89\00:37:44.56 We have them because He has them. 00:37:44.56\00:37:46.16 So I think God must have some form 00:37:46.16\00:37:49.63 because the other thing is Jesus took humanity 00:37:49.63\00:37:51.93 and He's now gonna bear that through eternity. 00:37:51.93\00:37:54.84 You know, He permanently identified himself with 00:37:54.84\00:37:59.31 humanity, and even in His resurrection form. 00:37:59.31\00:38:02.21 But to say that God is non-binary, 00:38:03.58\00:38:05.81 someone is trying to politicize or, you know, 00:38:05.81\00:38:09.62 get the nature of God caught up 00:38:11.02\00:38:12.65 in some of the cultural issues today, 00:38:12.65\00:38:14.42 and that's a sensational stretch. 00:38:14.42\00:38:17.23 God is consistently referred to as our Father in the Bible, 00:38:18.59\00:38:23.20 but I don't believe that He has gender 00:38:24.30\00:38:26.07 in the sense that we do 00:38:26.07\00:38:27.14 so it's silly to try and classify Him 00:38:27.14\00:38:29.04 as male, female, or even binary. 00:38:29.04\00:38:31.77 Anyway, so hopefully that helps a little, Aaron, 00:38:33.11\00:38:35.51 and appreciate your question. 00:38:35.51\00:38:37.08 - Next caller that we have is Armando in North Carolina. 00:38:37.08\00:38:40.55 Armando, welcome to the program. 00:38:40.55\00:38:43.02 - [Armando] Pastor John, Pastor Jean Ross, 00:38:43.02\00:38:45.19 and Pastor Doug Batchelor, how are you guys? 00:38:45.19\00:38:47.26 - We're thankful to be here. - Good. 00:38:47.26\00:38:49.86 - [Armando] Thank you guys for having me. 00:38:49.86\00:38:53.70 My question is regarding Judges 13 00:38:53.70\00:38:57.03 when the angel of the Lord comes 00:38:57.03\00:38:59.00 to speak to the wife of Manoah. 00:38:59.00\00:39:02.07 And I think in verses four and five, 00:39:02.07\00:39:05.14 the angel of the Lord starts to, I guess, specify that the, 00:39:06.51\00:39:10.98 I guess the vow will be taken on by the mother, 00:39:13.38\00:39:15.32 but then essentially Samson will have the Nazirite vow. 00:39:15.32\00:39:19.12 I just wanted to see if that's the case with Sampson 00:39:19.12\00:39:23.69 taking on the Nazirite vow. 00:39:23.69\00:39:25.06 I have a couple footnotes in a couple Bibles that indicate 00:39:25.06\00:39:27.86 that the Nazirite vow is in Numbers 6. 00:39:27.86\00:39:31.07 - [Doug] Yes. 00:39:32.27\00:39:33.64 - [Armando] And then I just had a follow-up question. 00:39:33.64\00:39:35.57 If that was the case, how was Samson able 00:39:35.57\00:39:38.07 to carry on the vow whenever he would sin or, you know, 00:39:38.07\00:39:42.74 kill a body when he was against the army? 00:39:44.28\00:39:47.32 - [Doug] Yeah. 00:39:47.32\00:39:48.55 - It's specific in Numbers about- 00:39:50.89\00:39:53.29 - [Doug] Right. - With a dead body and... 00:39:53.29\00:39:55.02 - Well let's just be honest, 00:39:55.02\00:39:58.16 Samson did a pretty terrible job 00:39:58.16\00:40:00.63 of keeping the vow of a nazirite. 00:40:00.63\00:40:02.93 His parents did their best during the gestation of the baby 00:40:02.93\00:40:08.00 and in his raising to convince him that he was special. 00:40:09.30\00:40:12.11 God had a special plan for him. He had taken a nazirite vow. 00:40:12.11\00:40:15.08 But he seems to be rebelling against that during his life. 00:40:15.08\00:40:18.75 He wasn't supposed to drink wine, but it seems like he did. 00:40:18.75\00:40:22.05 He wasn't supposed to touch a dead body, 00:40:22.05\00:40:23.92 but we know that he did. 00:40:23.92\00:40:25.05 I mean, he killed a lion and ate honey out of it. 00:40:25.05\00:40:27.56 And he picked up the jawbone of a donkey and slew 1,000 men. 00:40:27.56\00:40:31.26 And then he went and stayed with a harlot in Gaza, 00:40:31.26\00:40:33.80 which is obviously breaking the Nazirite vow. 00:40:33.80\00:40:36.87 And finally his hair not being cut. 00:40:36.87\00:40:39.10 And he betrays that secret and God says, enough's enough, 00:40:39.10\00:40:42.20 you know and He was very patient with him. 00:40:42.20\00:40:43.91 But yeah, Samson, he didn't do a very good job 00:40:43.91\00:40:48.31 in following that vow. 00:40:48.31\00:40:49.71 His parents had sort of consecrated him. 00:40:49.71\00:40:51.75 Now conversely, you have Hannah, you got Manoah's wife 00:40:51.75\00:40:56.22 who tries their best to raise Samson to follow the vow, 00:40:57.65\00:40:59.59 and he rebels against it. 00:40:59.59\00:41:01.22 You have Hannah who makes the nazirite vow for Samuel. 00:41:01.22\00:41:05.23 Samuel keeps it, and he is consecrated 00:41:05.23\00:41:08.83 through his life to the Lord that way. 00:41:08.83\00:41:11.63 So you're right, those nazirite vows 00:41:11.63\00:41:14.80 in Numbers there are pretty definitive. 00:41:14.80\00:41:18.11 - All right, thanks for your call. 00:41:19.14\00:41:20.48 We got Maggie listening in Washington. 00:41:20.48\00:41:22.11 Maggie, welcome to the program. 00:41:22.11\00:41:24.55 - [Maggie] Good evening, gentlemen. 00:41:24.55\00:41:25.81 First I wanna just tell you 00:41:25.81\00:41:27.65 that I pray for both of you daily that the Lord 00:41:27.65\00:41:30.12 should put a hedge about you for your protection. 00:41:30.12\00:41:34.22 Yeah, my question is- - Well, thank you. 00:41:34.22\00:41:35.96 - [Maggie] Are the 24 elders in the Book of Revelation, 00:41:35.96\00:41:39.03 are they the saints that Matthew 27:52 mentions 00:41:39.03\00:41:42.96 after Jesus's Resurrection? 00:41:44.00\00:41:46.27 - Well, that's another one of those verses, 00:41:46.27\00:41:48.04 and I'll also have Pastor Ross weigh in on this. 00:41:48.04\00:41:50.57 The question is, when it says there's these 24 elders, 00:41:50.57\00:41:54.78 how'd they get to Heaven? 00:41:54.78\00:41:56.24 Are they some of the saints resurrected there 00:41:56.24\00:41:58.88 in the end of Matthew? 00:41:58.88\00:42:00.98 Or are they the leaders of unfallen worlds? 00:42:00.98\00:42:05.29 Now, I'm more inclined to go with the latter. 00:42:05.29\00:42:07.82 You can read that, that says there was a day 00:42:07.82\00:42:10.43 when the sons of God's came together 00:42:10.43\00:42:12.43 before the Lord in Heaven. 00:42:12.43\00:42:14.10 And you wonder, who are these sons of God? 00:42:14.10\00:42:16.46 Well, when Luke goes through the genealogy of humanity, 00:42:16.46\00:42:20.17 it talks about Enos who is the son of Seth 00:42:20.17\00:42:23.17 who is the son of Adam who is the son of God. 00:42:23.17\00:42:26.01 So Adam is called the son of God 00:42:26.01\00:42:28.41 'cause he is created, he isn't born. 00:42:28.41\00:42:30.85 And these are the leaders, we believe, of unfallen worlds. 00:42:30.85\00:42:35.28 And in the same way that God has got 24 leaders 00:42:35.28\00:42:39.52 in the Old Testament in Chronicles, 00:42:39.52\00:42:41.46 you read about 24 leaders both militarily 00:42:41.46\00:42:44.29 and in the sanctuary. 00:42:44.29\00:42:46.56 That's 12 for the day and 12 for the night, 00:42:46.56\00:42:48.60 or 12 for a half of the year. 00:42:48.60\00:42:50.13 God divided 'em differently. 00:42:50.13\00:42:51.33 And Jesus has 12 apostles. 00:42:51.33\00:42:52.57 12 of course is, two times 12 is 24. 00:42:52.57\00:42:55.67 These are like leaders of God's unfallen universe 00:42:55.67\00:42:59.94 is one theory I've heard. 00:42:59.94\00:43:01.34 And some believe they're the resurrected saints. 00:43:01.34\00:43:04.58 What are your thoughts? 00:43:04.58\00:43:05.38 - Yeah, that's a good question. 00:43:05.38\00:43:06.72 You know, there is a verse actually in the Old Testament. 00:43:06.72\00:43:09.05 It talks about the elders, Isaiah 24:23. 00:43:09.05\00:43:12.55 It says, "The Lord shall reign 00:43:12.55\00:43:13.76 before His elders gloriously." 00:43:13.76\00:43:16.16 Now, that's the Old Testament. 00:43:16.16\00:43:17.53 Of course you have those who are resurrected 00:43:17.53\00:43:19.59 the time of Christ's Resurrection. 00:43:19.59\00:43:21.26 But then you also have in the Book of Job 00:43:21.26\00:43:22.73 it talks about the sons of God or, you know, 00:43:22.73\00:43:25.40 these representatives of these unfallen worlds. 00:43:25.40\00:43:27.27 - Morning stars sing together. - That's right. 00:43:27.27\00:43:29.20 And the devil came representing Earth. 00:43:29.20\00:43:31.17 So this was not a meeting that took place on the Earth, 00:43:31.17\00:43:34.11 it was somewhere else and you have these representatives. 00:43:34.11\00:43:35.78 So you know, if you look at the chronology 00:43:35.78\00:43:38.81 that's given in Revelation 4, 00:43:38.81\00:43:41.02 you have a description of the heavenly throne room. 00:43:41.02\00:43:42.82 God the Father is seated upon the throne 00:43:42.82\00:43:44.35 and talks about the fall of living creatures. 00:43:44.35\00:43:46.09 And it mentions there the 24 elders, 00:43:46.09\00:43:47.76 but it's not until you get to chapter five 00:43:47.76\00:43:50.23 that you see Jesus, that He appears. 00:43:50.23\00:43:52.73 So it's as if Revelation 4 00:43:52.73\00:43:54.56 describes Heaven before Christ comes. 00:43:54.56\00:43:57.00 And well, we know those who are resurrected 00:43:57.00\00:43:59.63 at the time of Christ's Resurrection, 00:43:59.63\00:44:01.07 they were taken to Heaven with Jesus. 00:44:01.07\00:44:03.47 It would seem that the 24 elders are already in Heaven 00:44:03.47\00:44:07.18 before Jesus and those who are resurrected 00:44:07.18\00:44:09.18 actually get to Heaven. - Yep. 00:44:09.18\00:44:10.88 - So that gives the idea that the 24 elders 00:44:10.88\00:44:12.41 would be something more than just those who are resurrected. 00:44:12.41\00:44:15.48 It's the other group would be the representatives 00:44:15.48\00:44:17.25 of the unfallen worlds. 00:44:17.25\00:44:18.65 - So I appreciate that. Hope that helps a little, Maggie. 00:44:18.65\00:44:21.59 And we do have a new Revelation magazine that you can read. 00:44:21.59\00:44:26.66 It's Revelation, or sorry, Amazing Facts has a magazine 00:44:28.00\00:44:29.83 on Daniel and Revelation. 00:44:29.83\00:44:31.43 You can find that at the AF Bookstore. 00:44:31.43\00:44:34.37 That's Amazing Facts Bookstore. You'll see that there. 00:44:34.37\00:44:36.47 - Next caller that we have is Angela, 00:44:36.47\00:44:38.07 and she's listening in Illinois. 00:44:38.07\00:44:39.94 She's on the road. Angela, welcome to the program. 00:44:39.94\00:44:43.45 - [Angela] Hi, I have a question, 00:44:43.45\00:44:45.28 and I think it may be Amos 4, but I'm not sure. 00:44:45.28\00:44:49.88 - Okay. 00:44:49.88\00:44:51.19 - [Angela] It says that we should not be wanting to hasten 00:44:51.19\00:44:53.49 the day of the Lord because it will be a day of great... 00:44:53.49\00:44:58.23 - Yeah, yeah. Why do you pray for the day of the Lord? 00:44:59.53\00:45:01.40 It'll be a day of distress and a day of punishment. 00:45:01.40\00:45:04.70 - [Angela] Right. - Yeah. 00:45:04.70\00:45:06.07 - [Angela] And when you put your hand on the wall 00:45:06.07\00:45:07.97 to steady yourself, and you'll be bitten by a snake 00:45:07.97\00:45:10.47 and things like that so... - Yes. (laughs) 00:45:10.47\00:45:13.61 And a serpent will bite you, yeah. 00:45:13.61\00:45:16.61 I'm looking it up right now. 00:45:16.61\00:45:19.01 Yeah, that's, here it is. It's Amos 5:19. 00:45:20.58\00:45:24.22 It says, "It will be." 00:45:24.22\00:45:25.89 Well, I can actually back up. It'll be here. 00:45:25.89\00:45:27.99 It says, "Woe to those who desire the day of the Lord." 00:45:27.99\00:45:30.16 This is Amos 5:18. 00:45:30.16\00:45:32.03 "Woe to you who desire the day of the Lord 00:45:32.03\00:45:34.10 for what good is the day of the Lord to you?" 00:45:34.10\00:45:36.20 He's talking about the wicked. 00:45:36.20\00:45:37.30 Why would you want the day of the Lord? 00:45:37.30\00:45:38.30 It's a day of darkness and no light. 00:45:38.30\00:45:40.40 "It will be as though a man fled from a lion 00:45:40.40\00:45:42.74 and a bear met him." 00:45:42.74\00:45:44.04 That's bad luck. 00:45:44.04\00:45:45.44 "Or though he went into the house running for his life, 00:45:45.44\00:45:48.01 leans on the wall and a serpent bit him." 00:45:48.01\00:45:50.71 In other words, he's saying you can run but you can't hide. 00:45:50.71\00:45:54.12 No matter where you go, calamity is gonna follow you 00:45:54.12\00:45:56.05 because it's a judgment. 00:45:56.05\00:45:58.05 The day of the Lord is the day of judgment 00:45:58.05\00:45:59.59 for those who have neglected the opportunity 00:45:59.59\00:46:01.89 to have their sins forgiven 00:46:01.89\00:46:03.46 and to know the Lord and be surrendered to the Lord. 00:46:03.46\00:46:06.43 The Second Coming is a nightmare for them. 00:46:06.43\00:46:09.76 It's judgment. Probation's closed. 00:46:09.76\00:46:11.67 - Absolutely, you look in Revelation 6, 00:46:11.67\00:46:13.23 right up at the Second Coming of Christ, 00:46:13.23\00:46:14.87 the wicked turned to the rocks and the mountains 00:46:14.87\00:46:16.54 and they say, "Fall on us and hide us from the face 00:46:16.54\00:46:19.24 of Him sits upon throne from the wrath of the Lamb." 00:46:19.24\00:46:21.48 So it's not a day of rejoicing for the wicked. 00:46:21.48\00:46:24.11 It is a day of rejoicing for the saved, 00:46:24.11\00:46:25.78 for the righteous, but not for the wicked. 00:46:25.78\00:46:27.62 - They will say, "This is the Lord. 00:46:27.62\00:46:28.95 We have waited for Him and He will save us." 00:46:28.95\00:46:30.82 And the wicked will cast their idols of gold and silver 00:46:30.82\00:46:34.02 to the rats and the bats and the moles. 00:46:34.02\00:46:35.72 And so you've got this contrast of your butterflies 00:46:35.72\00:46:38.36 and your cockroaches when the Lord comes. 00:46:38.36\00:46:40.30 Some go to the light and some run from the light, yeah. 00:46:40.30\00:46:44.83 Thank you, appreciate that. 00:46:44.83\00:46:46.40 - We got Jeremiah listening in Texas. 00:46:46.40\00:46:48.30 Jeremiah, welcome to the program. 00:46:48.30\00:46:51.14 - [Jeremiah] Thank you for having me, Pastor. 00:46:51.14\00:46:54.01 - Yeah, and we're glad to have you. Your question. 00:46:54.01\00:46:57.25 - [Jeremiah] And my question is, it's about fasting. 00:46:57.25\00:47:00.68 'Cause I see in the Bible it seems fasting has... 00:47:00.68\00:47:04.82 Like for God, it seems to elicit extra attention from God 00:47:06.69\00:47:11.59 when we add fasting to prayer. 00:47:11.59\00:47:14.13 And I came across this verse in 1 Samuel 15:22 00:47:15.23\00:47:18.93 where Samuel says, "Has the Lord as great delight 00:47:22.60\00:47:26.14 in burnt offerings and sacrifices, 00:47:26.14\00:47:28.74 as in obeying the voice of the Lord? 00:47:28.74\00:47:31.75 Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, 00:47:31.75\00:47:34.88 and to heed than the fat of rams." 00:47:34.88\00:47:38.12 So what I was wondering is, 00:47:38.12\00:47:40.42 if there is some area of sin in your life, 00:47:41.52\00:47:45.33 can that interfere with the pledge you are fasting for? 00:47:45.33\00:47:49.93 - Well, I think that when you decide 00:47:51.73\00:47:55.17 to fast and pray and reach out to God, 00:47:55.17\00:47:57.41 that should involve a willingness for total surrender. 00:47:57.41\00:48:02.28 And if you've got some area in your life 00:48:02.28\00:48:04.75 that you know is in rebellion, 00:48:04.75\00:48:07.12 that ought to be part of your fasting and your praying. 00:48:07.12\00:48:10.49 So if you're saying, "Oh Lord, I've got this sickness 00:48:10.49\00:48:14.02 and that I want to be healed," 00:48:14.02\00:48:15.96 but you know you're living in sin, 00:48:15.96\00:48:17.89 well, why do you want to be healed? 00:48:17.89\00:48:19.83 So you get sick and die forever? 00:48:19.83\00:48:21.50 Why don't you say, "Lord, I want to be healed of sin 00:48:21.50\00:48:24.47 and then I've got eternal life." 00:48:24.47\00:48:26.10 And then the physical healing is a small matter. 00:48:26.10\00:48:28.67 So you always want to have your priorities. 00:48:28.67\00:48:32.01 The worst thing that could happen to anyone 00:48:32.01\00:48:34.21 is to be living in sin, still be a captor to the devil 00:48:34.21\00:48:37.35 because that's the first thing you ought 00:48:37.35\00:48:40.05 to be fasting and praying for. 00:48:40.05\00:48:42.18 And even when we do an anointing for somebody 00:48:42.18\00:48:46.39 it talks about, and if they've committed sins, 00:48:46.39\00:48:48.22 they'll be forgiven. 00:48:48.22\00:48:49.52 It's understood when you're praying for healing 00:48:49.52\00:48:50.83 that there's some time spent in personal repentance 00:48:50.83\00:48:54.36 and getting yourself right with God 00:48:54.36\00:48:55.86 if you're gonna fast and pray. 00:48:55.86\00:48:57.27 - And you know, you got the parable of the tax collector 00:48:57.27\00:48:59.47 and the Pharisee who went to the temple to pray 00:48:59.47\00:49:01.77 and the Pharisee said, "Well, I fast twice a week, you know, 00:49:01.77\00:49:04.64 and I give my tithe and I do all of these good deeds." 00:49:04.64\00:49:07.08 And in reality his fasting didn't mean anything 00:49:07.08\00:49:09.34 because he was filled with pride. 00:49:09.34\00:49:10.88 Whereas, you know, the tax collector, he wept, 00:49:10.88\00:49:14.72 beat upon his breasts and said, 00:49:14.72\00:49:16.18 "Lord, be merciful unto me, a sinner." 00:49:16.18\00:49:17.99 And Jesus says he's the one that went home justified. 00:49:17.99\00:49:20.69 So fasting has a lot to do with attitude. 00:49:20.69\00:49:22.99 It's not just abstaining from food, 00:49:22.99\00:49:24.69 but it's abstaining from food for the right reason. 00:49:24.69\00:49:27.00 Seeking God, wanting to gain victory. 00:49:27.00\00:49:29.83 - Yep, so hopefully that helps a little, Jeremy. 00:49:29.83\00:49:32.47 We appreciate your call. 00:49:32.47\00:49:34.07 - Next one on the- - Or Jeremiah. 00:49:34.07\00:49:35.37 - Is Richard in New York. Richard, welcome to the program. 00:49:35.37\00:49:38.67 - [Richard] Good evening, Pastors. 00:49:38.67\00:49:40.08 Thank you for having me on tonight. 00:49:40.08\00:49:42.38 - Well, thank you. And your question. 00:49:42.38\00:49:46.21 - [Richard] Yes, my question is that I would like to know, 00:49:46.21\00:49:50.29 does God have a true Church on this Earth? 00:49:50.29\00:49:53.86 And should we as Christians be concerned with denominations? 00:49:53.86\00:49:58.06 - Okay, great question. 00:49:58.06\00:49:59.09 I will answer your question with a question 00:49:59.09\00:50:01.93 in that in the Old Testament, did God have a nation, 00:50:01.93\00:50:06.07 a particular nation that He called 00:50:06.07\00:50:08.27 and to make them the guardians of His oracles of truth? 00:50:08.27\00:50:13.34 That's a rhetorical question 'cause the answer is yes. 00:50:14.71\00:50:16.01 He clearly called Abraham and his descendants. 00:50:16.01\00:50:18.21 Now, does that mean they were better than other nations? 00:50:18.21\00:50:21.55 Does that mean every Jew is automatically saved? 00:50:21.55\00:50:24.32 No, Jews were like other people. 00:50:24.32\00:50:25.82 There were good ones and there were bad ones, 00:50:25.82\00:50:27.66 and some were faithful, some were not. 00:50:27.66\00:50:30.76 The early Church, you've got some of the Jewish people 00:50:30.76\00:50:33.70 that condemn Jesus, and the early Church is formed 00:50:33.70\00:50:36.63 of Jewish people like the apostles. 00:50:36.63\00:50:39.17 So does God have a movement now? 00:50:39.17\00:50:42.57 When you get into the last days, is there a remnant movement 00:50:42.57\00:50:45.54 that He has that He has made a guardian 00:50:45.54\00:50:49.51 of the oracles of truth? 00:50:49.51\00:50:51.55 I believe the answer is yes. 00:50:51.55\00:50:53.38 You know, obviously if there are hundreds 00:50:53.38\00:50:55.92 of different denominations that call themselves Christians, 00:50:55.92\00:50:58.55 and I believe there are saved people 00:50:58.55\00:51:00.22 in many different churches. 00:51:00.22\00:51:01.76 In the days of Israel, God still had faithful people 00:51:01.76\00:51:04.16 that weren't even Israelites. 00:51:04.16\00:51:05.73 Bible says that, you know, 00:51:05.73\00:51:07.03 God spoke through Moses's father-in-law, Jethro. 00:51:07.03\00:51:10.93 He was not an Israelite. 00:51:10.93\00:51:12.13 He spoke through Naaman. Naaman was saved. 00:51:12.13\00:51:15.04 And Elijah was sent to the Canaanite woman. 00:51:15.04\00:51:17.21 And you know, God had His people. 00:51:17.21\00:51:20.01 But He still had a nation, a group that He used 00:51:21.61\00:51:24.88 and then He organized them 00:51:24.88\00:51:26.55 in a special way in the Old Testament. 00:51:26.55\00:51:28.32 God has an organized work in the New Testament. 00:51:28.32\00:51:31.79 With all these different denominations, 00:51:31.79\00:51:33.96 we know that some are gonna be closer 00:51:33.96\00:51:36.93 to the Bible than others. 00:51:36.93\00:51:38.33 Some, I think we would agree, are pretty far from the Bible. 00:51:38.33\00:51:40.93 That means some are gonna be closer to the Bible. 00:51:40.93\00:51:42.70 You want to find the one that is the closest to the Bible. 00:51:42.70\00:51:46.33 - You know, we have a study guide 00:51:46.33\00:51:47.47 called "The Bride of Christ." 00:51:47.47\00:51:49.00 And in the New Testament, the Church, the true Church, 00:51:49.00\00:51:50.97 it's described as the bride of Christ. 00:51:50.97\00:51:52.84 So what does the Bible say? 00:51:52.84\00:51:54.38 What are we to look for if we're looking for a church? 00:51:54.38\00:51:57.38 We'll be happy to send the study guide 00:51:57.38\00:51:58.91 to anyone who calls and asks. 00:51:58.91\00:52:00.35 Just ask for the study guide. 00:52:00.35\00:52:01.45 It's called "The Bride of Christ," 00:52:01.45\00:52:03.12 and we'll be happy to send it to anyone in North America. 00:52:03.12\00:52:05.05 The number is 800-835-6747. 00:52:05.05\00:52:07.36 That is our resource phone line. Just call and ask. 00:52:08.72\00:52:11.39 We'll send you the study guide, "The Bridge of Christ." 00:52:11.39\00:52:14.30 Next caller that we have is, let's see, 00:52:14.30\00:52:15.93 we've got JC listening in California. 00:52:15.93\00:52:18.33 JC, welcome to the program. 00:52:18.33\00:52:20.87 - [JC] Thank you very much. 00:52:20.87\00:52:21.87 Good evening. - Yeah, good evening. 00:52:21.87\00:52:23.47 - [JC] My question is regarding the staff of Moses. 00:52:23.47\00:52:26.81 It's first mentioned in the Book of Exodus 4:2, 00:52:26.81\00:52:30.78 but not much information after that. 00:52:31.81\00:52:34.38 So where would, please tell me, 00:52:34.38\00:52:36.99 enlighten me more information you might have. 00:52:36.99\00:52:39.25 - Yeah, yeah, the shepherds, and Moses was a shepherd, 00:52:39.25\00:52:42.59 and the nation of Israel were a nation of shepherds. 00:52:42.59\00:52:45.53 Even when Joseph went, you know, Jacob said, 00:52:45.53\00:52:48.93 you know, "We're a nation of shepherds," 00:52:48.93\00:52:50.40 which was largely an abomination to the Egyptians. 00:52:50.40\00:52:52.77 Shepherds all had a rod. 00:52:52.77\00:52:54.84 The patriarchs of every family sort of had a rod 00:52:54.84\00:52:57.51 and they might be engraved. 00:52:57.51\00:52:58.91 There was some way of distinguishing them from others 00:52:58.91\00:53:01.78 because there was one time when there was a challenge 00:53:01.78\00:53:04.85 against Moses and Aaron and God said, 00:53:04.85\00:53:06.51 "Tell the elders of Israel to take their rods." 00:53:06.51\00:53:08.98 They all had a distinctive rod 00:53:08.98\00:53:10.72 and an insignia on it and they were carved. 00:53:10.72\00:53:12.92 Put 'em before the Lord and God is gonna show you 00:53:12.92\00:53:15.99 who among the elders He accepts, and it was Aaron's rod. 00:53:15.99\00:53:20.20 It starts out here in Exodus 4 talking about Moses' rod. 00:53:20.20\00:53:23.50 But you go later on, it often calls it Aaron's rod 00:53:23.50\00:53:26.74 'cause Aaron was the older brother. 00:53:26.74\00:53:28.24 And it seemed like that that terminology shifted 00:53:28.24\00:53:31.27 once Aaron got into Egypt. 00:53:31.27\00:53:33.07 But so a rod represented the authority of the family. 00:53:33.07\00:53:37.98 - And rulership, so we also find that Jesus 00:53:37.98\00:53:40.22 is said to have a rod, and Revelation talks about Christ 00:53:40.22\00:53:43.62 coming with a rod of iron, 00:53:43.62\00:53:46.05 meaning He's gonna execute judgment upon the wicked 00:53:46.05\00:53:48.39 at the Second Coming of Christ. 00:53:48.39\00:53:49.72 So rods or the rod has symbolic significance 00:53:49.72\00:53:52.96 in the Bible as well. 00:53:52.96\00:53:54.23 - Yeah, it says they're shattered as a potter's vessel 00:53:54.23\00:53:57.80 when He comes with the rod. 00:53:57.80\00:53:59.20 And so yeah, it's a symbol of that. 00:53:59.20\00:54:01.34 So hopefully that helps a little bit and we appreciate that. 00:54:01.34\00:54:05.81 I'm looking at the clock. 00:54:05.81\00:54:06.91 I tell you what, listening friends, 00:54:06.91\00:54:08.38 we do something unusual here. 00:54:08.38\00:54:10.81 Because this radio program is on hundreds of stations 00:54:10.81\00:54:14.28 that are both land-based and some are satellite-based, 00:54:14.28\00:54:17.62 their time schedule's a little different 00:54:17.62\00:54:19.25 so we sort of sign off in stages. 00:54:19.25\00:54:21.22 In just a moment, we're gonna sign off and say farewell 00:54:21.22\00:54:24.03 to those who are listening on national satellite. 00:54:24.03\00:54:26.53 But we stay on and we take some rapid-fire Bible questions 00:54:26.53\00:54:30.53 that come in via the internet. 00:54:30.53\00:54:32.40 Now, if someone wants to send us an internet question. 00:54:32.40\00:54:34.57 Pastor Ross, what's the address for that? 00:54:34.57\00:54:36.64 - All you have to do is just email the question 00:54:36.64\00:54:38.54 to balquestions@amazingfacts.org. 00:54:38.54\00:54:42.14 That's B-A-L, Bible Answers Live, 00:54:42.14\00:54:44.41 questions@amazingfacts.org. 00:54:44.41\00:54:46.72 And then we gather these questions together 00:54:46.72\00:54:48.72 and we try to answer as many questions as we could 00:54:48.72\00:54:50.75 in about two and a half minutes. 00:54:50.75\00:54:52.92 So we sign off with our satellite radio 00:54:52.92\00:54:55.29 and then we'll encourage land-based stations 00:54:55.29\00:54:57.09 and those watching on the internet, 00:54:57.09\00:54:59.03 stay with us as we're going to address 00:54:59.03\00:55:00.16 as many of these questions as we can. 00:55:00.16\00:55:02.13 - Yeah, and thank you very much 00:55:02.13\00:55:04.03 those who are listening on satellite radio. 00:55:04.03\00:55:07.40 Keep in tune and God willing we'll study with you next week. 00:55:07.40\00:55:11.87 (stirring instrumental music) 00:55:11.87\00:55:13.71 - [Announcer] Thank you for listening to today's broadcast. 00:55:13.71\00:55:16.04 We hope you understand your Bible even better than before. 00:55:16.04\00:55:19.55 "Bible Answers Live" is produced 00:55:19.55\00:55:21.68 by Amazing Facts International, 00:55:21.68\00:55:23.89 a faith-based ministry located in Granite Bay, California. 00:55:23.89\00:55:28.79 - Hello friends. Welcome back to "Bible Answers Live." 00:55:30.09\00:55:32.79 And as we mentioned before the break, 00:55:32.79\00:55:34.20 this is the time where we take your Bible questions 00:55:34.20\00:55:36.23 that you've emailed to us here at Amazing Facts. 00:55:36.23\00:55:39.33 So Pastor, we have a number of great questions this evening 00:55:39.33\00:55:41.74 so I'm gonna get right to it. 00:55:41.74\00:55:43.07 The first question is, 00:55:43.07\00:55:44.44 "Why is God going to restore the Earth into a paradise 00:55:44.44\00:55:46.71 if everyone is going to Heaven when Jesus comes?" 00:55:46.71\00:55:50.11 - Yeah, well, we don't go up forever. 00:55:50.11\00:55:52.51 He first takes us up and we live and reign with Christ 00:55:52.51\00:55:55.72 1,000 years in Heaven, which is the up dwelling place 00:55:55.72\00:56:00.46 of God where He is now. 00:56:00.46\00:56:01.49 So first we go to Him. 00:56:01.49\00:56:03.26 He says, "In my Father's house are many mansions. 00:56:03.26\00:56:05.63 I go to prepare a place for you. 00:56:05.63\00:56:07.60 If I go, I will receive you unto Myself. 00:56:07.60\00:56:09.86 That where I am, that place in Heaven, we will be." 00:56:09.86\00:56:13.47 But you read in Revelation 21, 00:56:13.47\00:56:15.37 at the end of that 1,000 years, 00:56:15.37\00:56:17.01 the new Jerusalem descends from God out of Heaven, 00:56:17.01\00:56:19.44 comes down to Earth. 00:56:19.44\00:56:20.84 God creates a new Heaven and a new Earth. 00:56:20.84\00:56:23.24 And the Bible says, "Blessed are the meek, 00:56:23.24\00:56:24.95 they will inherit the Earth." 00:56:24.95\00:56:26.82 So ultimately, we build houses and we inhabit them. 00:56:26.82\00:56:29.75 We have mansions in the city. We live in this world. 00:56:29.75\00:56:32.02 God fulfills His original plan. 00:56:32.02\00:56:34.09 - All right, question number two. 00:56:34.09\00:56:35.39 It says, "I know that the sacrificial goat in Leviticus 16 00:56:35.39\00:56:38.59 represents Christ, but can you explain 00:56:38.59\00:56:40.33 who the scapegoat represents?" 00:56:40.33\00:56:42.13 - Yeah, on the day of Atonement, 00:56:42.13\00:56:43.60 there were two goats that were chosen. 00:56:43.60\00:56:46.37 One was called the Lord's goat, and it is sacrificed. 00:56:46.37\00:56:48.77 It represents the Lord. 00:56:48.77\00:56:49.87 It dies for sin. Its blood is applied. 00:56:49.87\00:56:52.31 The other goat, they used to transfer the guilt 00:56:52.31\00:56:55.31 of the nation to this goat. 00:56:55.31\00:56:56.75 It was carried off in the wilderness. 00:56:56.75\00:56:58.38 It was banished forever. 00:56:58.38\00:57:00.08 And they understand that represents 00:57:00.08\00:57:03.22 sort of the eternal separation from the devil 00:57:03.22\00:57:06.59 and sin of God's people. 00:57:06.59\00:57:08.56 That scapegoat is the one, 00:57:08.56\00:57:10.56 it's not the sin bearer the sense that Christ is. 00:57:10.56\00:57:13.63 This is the devil paying for his own sins he's instigated. 00:57:13.63\00:57:16.50 - That's right, and the scapegoat was never sacrificed. 00:57:16.50\00:57:18.17 - No, no bloodshed, and it's banished forever. 00:57:18.17\00:57:21.20 - Next question that we have, "How long did Adam and Eve 00:57:21.20\00:57:23.14 live in the Garden of Eden before they sinned?" 00:57:23.14\00:57:25.37 - You just do a little speculation, and if the last 00:57:25.37\00:57:27.91 command of God after everything's perfect, 00:57:27.91\00:57:30.08 He says, "Be fruitful and multiply." 00:57:30.08\00:57:31.95 They are perfectly healthy, 00:57:31.95\00:57:34.25 but sin happens before they procreate. 00:57:35.28\00:57:38.59 So we're assuming that it wasn't very long, 00:57:38.59\00:57:41.62 probably a matter of weeks or months the devil, 00:57:41.62\00:57:45.33 he sent a blitzkrieg and attacked them, 00:57:45.33\00:57:47.86 caught 'em off guard shortly after creation. 00:57:47.86\00:57:50.07 - All right, last question. 00:57:50.07\00:57:51.00 "What is the difference 00:57:51.00\00:57:52.10 between the old and the New Covenant?" 00:57:52.10\00:57:53.40 - Well, that's a big question for a short one. 00:57:53.40\00:57:55.50 Well, when you take your Bible and you split it in two, 00:57:55.50\00:57:58.37 you get the New Testament or New Covenant 00:57:58.37\00:58:00.68 is talking about when Jesus actually did come. 00:58:00.68\00:58:03.88 The Old Covenant is the law written on stone. 00:58:03.88\00:58:06.58 The New Covenant is the law written on our hearts. 00:58:06.58\00:58:09.38 Hey, thank you so much, friends. God bless. 00:58:09.38\00:58:11.45 Keep us in your prayers, 00:58:11.45\00:58:12.55 and we appreciate your supporting the program. 00:58:12.55\00:58:14.52 We are faith-based. Study together again next week. 00:58:14.52\00:58:18.86 - [Announcer] "Bible Answers Live," 00:58:18.86\00:58:20.40 honest and accurate answers to your Bible questions. 00:58:20.40\00:58:24.50 (stirring music) 00:58:24.50\00:58:27.34
