(gentle instrumental music) 00:00:00.80\00:00:03.00 - [Narrator] It is the best selling book in history. 00:00:03.00\00:00:06.00 No volume ever written has been more loved and quoted, 00:00:06.00\00:00:09.74 and its words, sometimes simple and sometimes mysterious, 00:00:09.74\00:00:13.71 should always be studied carefully. 00:00:13.71\00:00:16.44 It is the Bible, the Word of God. 00:00:16.44\00:00:19.78 Welcome to "Bible Answers Live", 00:00:19.78\00:00:22.62 providing accurate and practical answers 00:00:22.62\00:00:25.09 to all your Bible questions. 00:00:25.09\00:00:27.36 This broadcast is a previously recorded episode. 00:00:28.62\00:00:31.36 To receive any of the Bible resources mentioned 00:00:31.36\00:00:33.86 in this broadcast, call 800-835-6747. 00:00:33.86\00:00:38.80 Once again, that's 800-835-6747 00:00:39.70\00:00:43.97 Now here's your host from Amazing Facts International, 00:00:45.44\00:00:48.18 pastor Jean Ross. 00:00:48.18\00:00:50.35 - Hello friends, how about an amazing fact? 00:00:50.35\00:00:52.61 In 1967, the United Nations adopted 00:00:52.61\00:00:55.55 an international outer space treaty, 00:00:55.55\00:00:58.15 forbidding all nations from claiming the moon 00:00:58.15\00:01:00.42 or any part of space as territory. 00:01:00.42\00:01:02.86 However, the treaty failed to mention anything 00:01:02.86\00:01:05.23 about private individuals claiming ownership 00:01:05.23\00:01:08.00 to other planets or moons. 00:01:08.00\00:01:10.07 So early in the 1980s, 00:01:10.07\00:01:11.73 Dennis Hope from Nevada sent letters to the United Nations, 00:01:11.73\00:01:16.20 the United States, the Soviet Union, 00:01:16.20\00:01:19.61 and informed them that he was claiming ownership 00:01:19.61\00:01:22.04 to all lunar surfaces in our solar system, 00:01:22.04\00:01:24.81 aside from the earth. 00:01:24.81\00:01:26.35 He even gave them an opportunity 00:01:26.35\00:01:28.08 to respond if they had objections. 00:01:29.18\00:01:30.32 But he never heard a word from them. 00:01:30.32\00:01:32.55 For nearly 40 years now, Hope has been selling land plots 00:01:32.55\00:01:36.06 on the moon and Mars, for the price of about $20 an acre. 00:01:36.06\00:01:40.56 He has been pursuing this, not just as a novelty sale, 00:01:40.56\00:01:43.97 but as a serious real estate transaction, 00:01:43.97\00:01:46.67 complete with land titles, 00:01:46.67\00:01:48.17 covenants, and bylaws. 00:01:48.17\00:01:50.14 Although others are now in the same business, 00:01:50.14\00:01:52.61 Hope has earned more than $10 million selling land 00:01:52.61\00:01:55.98 on planets he has never visited. 00:01:55.98\00:01:58.75 It seems that selling land out of this world 00:01:58.75\00:02:01.58 is a profitable business venture. 00:02:02.68\00:02:04.25 But did you know, friends, 00:02:04.25\00:02:05.29 that the Bible teaches that you can 00:02:05.29\00:02:07.66 own heavenly real estate for free? 00:02:07.66\00:02:10.93 Jesus said, "In My Father's house there are many mansions, 00:02:10.93\00:02:14.56 if it were not so, I would've told you. 00:02:14.56\00:02:16.67 I go to prepare a place for you, 00:02:16.67\00:02:18.20 and if I go and prepare a place for you, 00:02:18.20\00:02:20.47 I will come again and receive you onto Myself, 00:02:20.47\00:02:23.61 that where I am, there you may be also." 00:02:23.61\00:02:27.01 That's John 14:2-3. 00:02:27.01\00:02:28.98 You know, pastor Carlos, 00:02:28.98\00:02:30.31 it's amazing how people are willing to buy something 00:02:30.31\00:02:32.51 that they've never seen on another planet, 00:02:32.51\00:02:34.42 in particular here, the moon. 00:02:34.42\00:02:36.12 And it seems like the person who is selling property 00:02:36.12\00:02:38.85 on the moon is making real good money, 00:02:38.85\00:02:40.72 whether that's actually gonna stand up in court, 00:02:40.72\00:02:42.86 I don't know, but at least for now 00:02:42.86\00:02:44.96 he's making a lot of money. 00:02:44.96\00:02:46.43 - Yeah, and then Jesus is offering us something for free, 00:02:46.43\00:02:49.36 and many people reject that. 00:02:49.36\00:02:51.90 - A lot better than a piece of land on the moon 00:02:51.90\00:02:53.97 or on Mars, right? - Amen. 00:02:53.97\00:02:55.07 Yeah. - He's offering us 00:02:55.07\00:02:56.57 a mansion made in heaven. 00:02:56.57\00:02:57.61 And the Bible tells us 00:02:57.61\00:02:58.87 that the new Jerusalem is a splendid city, 00:02:58.87\00:03:01.88 something that we can't even begin to imagine. 00:03:01.88\00:03:04.71 The streets are made of gold, beautiful gates, 00:03:04.71\00:03:07.72 and there is a mansion, a home specifically made by Christ 00:03:07.72\00:03:11.22 for the redeemed. 00:03:11.22\00:03:12.59 You know, we have a free gift that we want to share 00:03:12.59\00:03:14.92 with anyone who calls and asks, 00:03:14.92\00:03:16.36 it's about this reward that Jesus is preparing 00:03:16.36\00:03:19.39 for those that love Him, and it's a book called, 00:03:19.39\00:03:21.40 "Heaven Is It for Real?" 00:03:21.40\00:03:23.30 And this is our free offer, 00:03:23.30\00:03:24.97 all you need to do is call and ask for that. 00:03:24.97\00:03:26.90 Again, the book is called "Heaven, Is It For Real?", 00:03:26.90\00:03:29.87 and you can call the number 1-800-835-6747. 00:03:29.87\00:03:34.08 And you can ask for offer number 189, 00:03:34.08\00:03:36.34 or just ask for the book by name, "Heaven, Is It For Real?". 00:03:36.34\00:03:40.32 You know, the good news is that we get to travel 00:03:40.32\00:03:42.22 through space, pass the moon, 00:03:42.22\00:03:44.22 pass Mars. - Amen. 00:03:44.22\00:03:45.82 - Pass the planets when Jesus comes 00:03:45.82\00:03:48.92 and we take that heavenly journey to the new Jerusalem. 00:03:48.92\00:03:52.49 So friends, call and ask for that book, 00:03:52.49\00:03:54.10 we'll be happy to send it to you. 00:03:54.10\00:03:55.73 Before we go to the phone lines, my name is Jean Ross, 00:03:57.20\00:03:58.70 pastor Doug is out this evening, 00:03:58.70\00:04:00.47 but we are open for your Bible questions. 00:04:00.47\00:04:02.94 If you have a Bible related question, 00:04:02.94\00:04:04.34 the number here to the studio is 800-463-7297. 00:04:04.34\00:04:09.41 We'll also give you another number that is a free offer, 00:04:10.81\00:04:12.65 it's 800-835-6747. 00:04:12.65\00:04:15.78 And if you have a Bible related question, 00:04:15.78\00:04:17.39 we'd love to hear from you tonight. 00:04:17.39\00:04:19.69 Now pastor Carlos though, before we go to the phone lines, 00:04:19.69\00:04:21.82 let's start with the word of prayer. 00:04:21.82\00:04:23.79 - Father, we thank you for just the privilege 00:04:23.79\00:04:27.13 and the honor of coming together 00:04:27.13\00:04:27.96 and spending time in Your Word. 00:04:27.96\00:04:29.30 And we know there are many people with many questions, 00:04:29.30\00:04:31.60 we ask that they come join us. 00:04:31.60\00:04:33.80 And we ask that Your Spirit guide us to give them 00:04:33.80\00:04:36.34 the biblical answers for the many questions that may arise. 00:04:36.34\00:04:40.58 And so we thank You again for this privilege and this honor, 00:04:40.58\00:04:42.51 and we ask us in Jesus' name, amen. 00:04:42.51\00:04:44.95 - Amen. 00:04:44.95\00:04:46.28 Alright, well, I think our phone lines are open, 00:04:46.28\00:04:47.72 who do we have first? 00:04:47.72\00:04:48.52 - Yes, Sheena from Tennessee, 00:04:48.52\00:04:50.92 welcome to "Bible Answers Live". 00:04:50.92\00:04:52.72 - Good evening. - Hello. 00:04:53.82\00:04:55.09 - Hi Sheena. - Hey, how are you? 00:04:55.09\00:04:57.63 - Doing well. - Good. 00:04:57.63\00:04:59.89 I'm calling in a question for my husband. 00:04:59.89\00:05:01.73 He's reading in Mark 10, specifically, 00:05:01.73\00:05:06.47 the question comes from verse 17 to 19. 00:05:06.47\00:05:09.24 So when Jesus was asked, what shall I do 00:05:10.31\00:05:12.51 that I may inherit eternal life in verse 17, 00:05:12.51\00:05:15.61 and then 19 He responds or replies with, 00:05:15.61\00:05:18.45 to know the commandments and He lists six of them. 00:05:18.45\00:05:21.45 Why did He only mention 6 out of the 10? 00:05:21.45\00:05:24.15 - Oh, good question. 00:05:24.15\00:05:25.45 Well, of course there's 10 commandments. 00:05:25.45\00:05:27.16 The 10 commandments are divided into 2 parts. 00:05:27.16\00:05:28.89 The first 4 of the 10 commandments 00:05:28.89\00:05:30.79 have to do with our relationship with God, 00:05:30.79\00:05:32.86 have no other gods be before Him, don't worship idols, 00:05:32.86\00:05:35.06 don't take His name in vain, 00:05:35.06\00:05:36.60 remember the Sabbath, to keep it holy. 00:05:36.60\00:05:38.63 The last 6 of the 10 commandments 00:05:38.63\00:05:40.40 have to do with our relationship with our fellow man, 00:05:40.40\00:05:42.84 which is honoring our parents, not murder, 00:05:42.84\00:05:45.41 don't commit adultery, don't lie, 00:05:45.41\00:05:47.71 don't steal, and don't covet. 00:05:47.71\00:05:50.15 Now the commandments that we find mentioned here, 00:05:50.15\00:05:51.98 Jesus is not addressing any of the first four commandments, 00:05:51.98\00:05:55.75 but He's pointing out the last six 00:05:55.75\00:05:57.62 that has to do with his relationship with his fellow 00:05:57.62\00:06:00.69 man, because it appears that that seems to be the sensitive 00:06:00.69\00:06:03.93 area, a part of his life that he was struggling to let go of, 00:06:03.93\00:06:07.13 because he responds in verse 20 and he says, 00:06:07.13\00:06:09.40 "All of these things I've kept from my youth." 00:06:09.40\00:06:11.90 But then Jesus narrows in and He says, 00:06:11.90\00:06:13.64 "One thing you lack, 00:06:13.64\00:06:14.74 go sell what you have and give it to the poor, 00:06:14.74\00:06:17.74 and you shall have treasury in heaven." 00:06:17.74\00:06:19.94 So quite possibly that the sin that this rich young ruler 00:06:19.94\00:06:23.28 was struggling with was pride. 00:06:23.28\00:06:25.05 He felt superior to others, he was rich, 00:06:25.05\00:06:27.98 he was young, he was a ruler, 00:06:27.98\00:06:29.98 so he had influence in power, and he looked down on others. 00:06:29.98\00:06:33.69 And Jesus was emphasizing that in order 00:06:33.69\00:06:35.89 to truly keep the law, it's not just an outward behavior, 00:06:35.89\00:06:39.76 but it has to do with the heart. 00:06:39.76\00:06:41.60 Love for God, love for our fellow man 00:06:41.60\00:06:43.43 is the motivation for obedience to God's commandments. 00:06:43.43\00:06:47.14 And that was the point that he was lacking, 00:06:47.14\00:06:48.80 love for his fellow man, 00:06:48.80\00:06:50.31 and that's why Jesus mentioned those last six. 00:06:50.31\00:06:52.97 - That makes sense, thank you. - Alright, good question, 00:06:52.97\00:06:55.44 thanks for calling. 00:06:55.44\00:06:56.78 You know, we do have a lesson called "Written in Stone" 00:06:56.78\00:06:59.11 and it's all about the 10 commandments, 00:06:59.11\00:07:00.55 and we'll be happy to send it to anyone 00:07:00.55\00:07:01.95 who's wondering about the law of God, 00:07:01.95\00:07:04.15 is it still binding and relevant for Christians today? 00:08:34.58\00:08:36.61 - Okay, well, that's a good question. 00:08:36.61\00:08:37.88 I think having the Nazarite vow was a commitment 00:08:37.88\00:08:41.68 that you are in full-time ministry 00:08:41.68\00:08:43.55 or full-time service for the Lord, 00:08:43.55\00:08:45.55 you are on a special God given errand and mission. 00:08:45.55\00:08:48.66 Now all of the Israelites were to live 00:08:48.66\00:08:51.46 to bring glory to God. 00:08:51.46\00:08:52.59 They were to serve God, there were certain feast 00:08:52.59\00:08:55.23 that they were to attain, 00:08:55.23\00:08:56.80 certain laws that they were to abide by, 00:08:56.80\00:08:58.93 but the Nazarite or those who had taken a Nazarite vow, 00:08:58.93\00:09:02.24 and a Nazarite vow wasn't necessarily 00:09:02.24\00:09:04.24 for someone's entire life, 00:09:04.24\00:09:05.91 you could do it for a few years, 00:09:05.91\00:09:07.38 or for a limited period of time, 00:09:07.38\00:09:09.18 or you could be committed for a much longer period of time, 00:09:09.18\00:09:11.88 and we have some of these Bible characters 00:09:11.88\00:09:13.25 that were committed for a much longer period of time. 00:09:13.25\00:09:15.88 But it simply meant that you were being set apart 00:09:15.88\00:09:18.12 for a special work of ministry for the Lord. 00:09:18.12\00:09:21.32 Now, I think in our terms today, 00:09:21.32\00:09:22.99 we do do something similar, 00:09:22.99\00:09:24.56 if somebody is going to full-time ministry 00:09:24.56\00:09:27.23 and they're gonna be committed full-time in ministry, 00:09:27.23\00:09:29.53 whether it's pastoral ministry, or evangelism, 00:09:29.53\00:09:32.43 or even working in a local church capacity 00:09:32.43\00:09:35.47 in some type of Bible work or full-time ministry, 00:09:35.47\00:09:38.37 we do sometimes have an ordination service 00:09:38.37\00:09:41.34 where we will set somebody apart for the gospel work, 00:09:41.34\00:09:45.55 which is similar in some extent to that of a Nazarene. 00:09:45.55\00:09:49.42 We can also dedicate our children shortly after birth. 00:09:49.42\00:09:53.05 It's different, it's not baptizing, 00:09:53.05\00:09:54.42 but it's dedicating our children in a special way, 00:09:54.42\00:09:58.16 asking that the Lord would lead and guide in their life 00:09:58.16\00:10:00.76 and make clear what the work is 00:10:00.76\00:10:02.93 that God would have them to do, 00:10:02.93\00:10:04.03 'cause God's gotta work for all of us, 00:10:04.03\00:10:05.87 all of us who claim to be Christians. 00:10:05.87\00:10:07.80 So the Nazarite vow today would be 00:10:07.80\00:10:09.50 in a little bit of a different form. 00:10:09.50\00:10:10.87 I think baptism also helps to fulfill some of what 00:10:10.87\00:10:13.54 that Nazarite vow was, and then also ordination, 00:10:13.54\00:10:17.18 ordaining someone to a particular work of ministry, 00:10:17.18\00:10:20.08 that would also be the same as the Nazarite vow. 00:10:20.08\00:10:23.95 - [Anthony 1] Okay, yes, that's helpful. 00:10:23.95\00:10:26.02 So the not cutting hair 00:10:26.02\00:10:29.46 and not touching anything from the vine, 00:10:29.46\00:10:34.50 like wine or anything like that, 00:10:35.50\00:10:37.17 does doing those things make you a Nazarite? 00:10:40.94\00:10:43.91 - That wouldn't have value in today's world. 00:10:43.91\00:10:46.61 Of course, back in Bible times, 00:10:46.61\00:10:47.88 people understood what that meant. 00:10:47.88\00:10:49.08 When somebody didn't cut their hair 00:10:49.08\00:10:50.88 and they didn't eat grapes or drink grape juice, 00:10:50.88\00:10:54.75 people were aware of what that is. 00:10:54.75\00:10:56.28 But in our context today, it wouldn't be of any value. 00:10:56.28\00:11:00.16 Somebody who doesn't cut their hair, 00:11:00.16\00:11:01.69 people don't realize that they've made some kind of a vow. 00:11:01.69\00:11:04.49 Rather, a vow that's made is something 00:11:04.49\00:11:06.29 that you commit your life to, 00:11:06.29\00:11:08.23 it's not something that you wear, 00:11:08.23\00:11:09.86 it's not something that you necessarily eat or don't eat, 00:11:09.86\00:11:14.37 although the Bible does give us guidelines 00:11:15.40\00:11:16.77 as to what is helpful to eat and what we shouldn't eat. 00:11:16.77\00:11:19.67 - [Anthony 1] Okay, I understand, 00:11:19.67\00:11:20.64 thank you very much, pastor. 00:11:20.64\00:11:21.98 - Alright, thanks for your call, Anthony. 00:11:21.98\00:11:23.45 - Thank you. 00:11:23.45\00:11:24.98 David from California, you're at "Bible Answers Live". 00:11:24.98\00:11:28.25 - Hi, David, welcome to the program. 00:11:28.25\00:11:30.29 - [David 1] Hello, thank you. 00:11:30.29\00:11:32.02 This is David from Fresno. 00:11:32.02\00:11:33.56 Two questions, what was God doing 00:11:35.66\00:11:39.63 and where was He during the dinosaur era, 00:11:39.63\00:11:42.80 well, the times of the dinosaurs. 00:11:44.00\00:11:46.40 - Alright, well, the dinosaurs did live, 00:11:46.40\00:11:48.70 you know, we got the fossilized bones of them, 00:11:48.70\00:11:50.41 but they lived before the flood. 00:11:50.41\00:11:52.37 And the reasons we don't have dinosaurs today 00:11:52.37\00:11:54.91 is because they were destroyed by the flood. 00:11:54.91\00:11:57.35 There was a change in our atmosphere, 00:11:57.35\00:11:59.61 there was a change in our climate, 00:11:59.61\00:12:01.05 and a lot of the animals that were able to live and thrive 00:12:01.05\00:12:03.55 before the flood, after the flood 00:12:03.55\00:12:06.05 couldn't live in the changed environment. 00:12:06.05\00:12:08.26 You look back in the fossil record 00:12:09.36\00:12:11.03 and even the dragon flies were much bigger 00:12:11.03\00:12:13.16 than we have them now, 00:12:13.16\00:12:14.50 and the animals were a lot bigger than we have now, 00:12:14.50\00:12:16.06 the insects were bigger. 00:12:16.06\00:12:17.47 So the whole environment was different before the flood, 00:12:17.47\00:12:20.40 but they were destroyed at the time of the flood 00:12:20.40\00:12:22.17 when Noah and his family were in the ark, 00:12:22.17\00:12:23.91 and some of the animals, 00:12:23.91\00:12:25.64 the animals came into the ark as well. 00:12:25.64\00:12:27.48 And then there were animals that came into the ark 00:12:27.48\00:12:29.51 that probably became extinct sometime after the flood, 00:12:29.51\00:12:32.91 like the woolly mammoth, 00:12:32.91\00:12:34.58 we know that they lived after the flood. 00:12:34.58\00:12:36.82 So yeah, the dinosaurs were destroyed 00:12:36.82\00:12:39.65 during the time of the flood, 00:12:39.65\00:12:41.02 and that's why we have their fossilized bones 00:12:41.02\00:12:42.92 and we can dig them up and look at them. 00:12:42.92\00:12:44.99 - [David 1] What address can I find that? 00:12:46.36\00:12:48.60 - Sorry, what was the question? 00:12:48.60\00:12:50.17 - [David 1] What address can I find that on in the Bible? 00:12:50.17\00:12:53.40 - Yeah, does the Bible say anything about that? 00:12:53.40\00:12:56.24 Yes, it does. 00:12:56.24\00:12:57.74 There is an interesting verse that you find in Job. 00:12:57.74\00:13:00.31 Job 40:18 talks about an animal, 00:13:00.31\00:13:03.58 and the animal's name is Behemoth. 00:13:03.58\00:13:05.88 And you can read the description in chapter 40, 00:13:05.88\00:13:08.78 it says that he eats grass like an ox, 00:13:08.78\00:13:12.59 he talks about him being very big and strong, 00:13:12.59\00:13:15.06 he's tail is like a cedar. 00:13:15.06\00:13:17.69 He has big legs, strong legs, 00:13:17.69\00:13:21.23 talks about them being as bronze, 00:13:21.23\00:13:23.00 these ribs are like bars of iron. 00:13:23.00\00:13:25.63 Now we don't have an animal 00:13:25.63\00:13:26.97 that is really gonna meet this description alive today. 00:13:26.97\00:13:30.57 So apparently Job, who's one of the oldest books written 00:13:30.57\00:13:34.01 in the Bible was aware of these large animals 00:13:34.01\00:13:36.75 that lived before the flood, and behemoth is one of them. 00:13:36.75\00:13:39.38 And then there's another one by the name of leviathan 00:13:39.38\00:13:41.32 that you also read about in the book of Job. 00:13:41.32\00:13:43.59 So there are references to these very big creatures, 00:13:43.59\00:13:46.99 these dinosaur like animals in the Bible 00:13:46.99\00:13:49.99 that live before the flood. 00:13:49.99\00:13:51.73 - Well, and also in the ocean, 00:13:51.73\00:13:53.66 whales. - Yes. 00:13:53.66\00:13:55.16 Big whales and yes, all kinds of interesting animals. 00:13:55.16\00:13:58.00 So, alright, 00:13:58.00\00:13:59.27 well, thank you for your call, David. 00:13:59.27\00:14:00.47 Who do we have next? 00:14:00.47\00:14:02.30 - We have Joel from North Carolina, I believe. 00:14:02.30\00:14:05.61 Welcome Joel. 00:14:05.61\00:14:06.68 - Hi pastors. - Hi. 00:14:08.21\00:14:09.68 - Hi Joel. - When and who 00:14:09.68\00:14:12.95 wrote the book of Lamentations? 00:14:12.95\00:14:16.08 - Alright, who wrote the book of Lamentations? 00:14:16.08\00:14:18.69 The time of Lamentations was written right 00:14:18.69\00:14:20.62 around the time of the Exodus, 00:14:20.62\00:14:23.86 it was written by Jeremiah the prophet. 00:14:23.86\00:14:26.53 It was actually before the destruction of Jerusalem 00:14:26.53\00:14:29.43 by the Babylonians 00:14:29.43\00:14:30.97 or connected with that same time period. 00:14:30.97\00:14:33.57 I think actually, maybe it's right around 00:14:34.87\00:14:36.87 after the destruction of Jerusalem by the Babylonians, 00:14:36.87\00:14:39.47 but that's the timeframe. 00:14:39.47\00:14:40.88 And Lamentations is Jeremiah the prophet, he's lamenting 00:14:40.88\00:14:44.31 or he is weeping because of the sins of Israel 00:14:44.31\00:14:46.88 and because of the judgements 00:14:46.88\00:14:48.18 that was coming upon Judah and upon Jerusalem, 00:14:48.18\00:14:51.42 which eventually was the destruction that occurred. 00:14:51.42\00:14:54.36 So it's right around that time period, 00:14:54.36\00:14:56.32 if you want a date, it's somewhere around 600, 00:14:56.32\00:14:59.13 probably 610 BC, 'cause Jerusalem fell in 605 BC, 00:15:00.56\00:15:05.07 so somewhere around that time period, 605, 610, 00:15:06.17\00:15:08.64 written by Jeremiah the prophet. 00:15:08.64\00:15:10.67 - Okay, thank you. - Alright, 00:15:10.67\00:15:12.47 thanks your call, Joel. 00:15:12.47\00:15:13.71 - Next we have Joey from Toronto, Canada. 00:15:14.81\00:15:16.91 Welcome Joey to "Bible Answers Live". 00:15:16.91\00:15:19.98 - [Joey] Yes, good evening, 00:15:19.98\00:15:20.78 pastor Ross, how are you? 00:15:20.78\00:15:21.85 - I'm doing well, thanks for your call, Joey. 00:15:21.85\00:15:24.95 - [Joey] Yes, I have a Bible question. 00:15:26.05\00:15:29.46 We have been studying, I believe Hebrews 10, 00:15:29.46\00:15:34.36 and it talks about the heavenly sanctuary. 00:15:34.36\00:15:37.10 And my question is, 00:15:37.10\00:15:38.90 how come it was never mentioned by Jesus 00:15:38.90\00:15:41.30 in the gospels at all? 00:15:41.30\00:15:43.71 Because it makes me wonder if there really 00:15:43.71\00:15:47.01 is a heavenly sanctuary, like the one that Moses built. 00:15:47.01\00:15:51.01 - Okay. 00:15:51.01\00:15:51.95 Yes, the answer to that, 00:15:51.95\00:15:53.15 is there heavenly sanctuary? 00:15:53.15\00:15:54.48 The answer to that is absolutely, yes, 00:15:54.48\00:15:56.75 and the book of Hebrews makes that very clear. 00:15:56.75\00:15:59.12 Talks about Jesus, our High Priest, 00:16:00.29\00:16:01.66 He's ministering for us in the heavenly sanctuary 00:16:01.66\00:16:03.06 not built with human hands, but a temple that God built. 00:16:03.06\00:16:07.20 Now, why doesn't Jesus reference 00:16:07.20\00:16:09.00 the sanctuary directly when He was on the earth? 00:16:09.00\00:16:11.67 Well, there were three phases to Christ's ministry, 00:16:11.67\00:16:14.34 just like the sanctuary was comprised of three parts. 00:16:14.34\00:16:17.91 You had the courtyard area where the animal was sacrificed, 00:16:17.91\00:16:20.98 and you had the holy place, and the most holy place, 00:16:20.98\00:16:23.85 which was inside the intersection of that. 00:16:23.85\00:16:26.31 So the courtyard and everything related to the courtyard, 00:16:26.31\00:16:28.85 the sacrificing of the lamb and so on, 00:16:28.85\00:16:30.99 that refers to Christ's earthly ministry. 00:16:30.99\00:16:33.42 And when Jesus was on the earth, that was the focus, 00:16:33.42\00:16:36.59 that's why He came. 00:16:36.59\00:16:37.93 So when Jesus ascended to heaven, 00:16:37.93\00:16:40.06 he began His High Priestly ministry, 00:16:40.06\00:16:42.50 and that's why you find in the book of Revelation, 00:16:42.50\00:16:44.87 Revelation 1 describes Jesus wearing the high priest robe 00:16:44.87\00:16:48.50 and He's standing amongst the candlesticks, 00:16:48.50\00:16:50.54 which is the first compartment of the heavenly sanctuary. 00:16:50.54\00:16:53.44 Hebrews talks about Jesus, our Great High Priest, 00:16:53.44\00:16:55.91 He's ministering for us in the temple, 00:16:55.91\00:16:58.05 not made with human hands. 00:16:58.05\00:17:00.35 So the focus of the heavenly sanctuary 00:17:00.35\00:17:02.98 doesn't really occur until after Christ's work 00:17:02.98\00:17:06.19 on the earth is finished and He ascends up to heaven 00:17:06.19\00:17:08.62 and He begins His High Priestly ministry. 00:17:08.62\00:17:10.83 Does that make sense, Joey? 00:17:12.33\00:17:13.76 - No, but I have never found any references 00:17:14.83\00:17:18.13 at all in the gospels, how come it was never mentioned 00:17:18.13\00:17:20.67 by Jesus at all? 00:17:20.67\00:17:22.40 - Well, not everything that Jesus mentions 00:17:22.40\00:17:25.67 or not everything that Jesus does not mention 00:17:25.67\00:17:28.51 doesn't mean that it's not real or it's not true. 00:17:28.51\00:17:31.48 They were different truths that were being presented 00:17:31.48\00:17:34.35 at different times. 00:17:34.35\00:17:35.72 And at the time that Jesus was here, He was the focus. 00:17:35.72\00:17:38.92 Jesus said, destroy this temple 00:17:38.92\00:17:40.56 and in three days, I'll raise it up again. 00:17:40.56\00:17:42.39 And he was talking about Himself, and His mission, 00:17:42.39\00:17:44.93 and His teaching that He'd come to do. 00:17:44.93\00:17:47.50 The sanctuary work, and Him as a High Priest in heaven, 00:17:47.50\00:17:50.27 doesn't really take front and center stage 00:17:50.27\00:17:52.57 until after His ascension. 00:17:52.57\00:17:54.67 But Jesus communicated these trues to Paul 00:17:54.67\00:17:58.27 and the other apostles through 00:17:58.27\00:17:59.57 the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. 00:17:59.57\00:18:01.38 So it's just as trustworthy, 00:18:01.38\00:18:03.18 the account that we find in Hebrews, 00:18:03.18\00:18:05.15 as anything that Jesus would say 00:18:05.15\00:18:07.18 or anything that the apostles wrote in the gospels, 00:18:07.18\00:18:09.42 it's just different times 00:18:09.42\00:18:11.05 and different emphasis for those times. 00:18:11.05\00:18:13.49 Alright, thank you for your call, Joey. 00:18:14.59\00:18:15.69 You know, we do have a study guide talking 00:18:15.69\00:18:17.29 about the sanctuary and I'm trying to think, 00:18:17.29\00:18:19.19 I think it's "God Drew the Plans". 00:18:19.19\00:18:22.40 That's what it's called. - Number 17, I think it is. 00:18:22.40\00:18:23.83 - Yes, number 17, 00:18:23.83\00:18:25.03 you can call and ask for that. 00:18:25.03\00:18:26.23 The number is 800-835-6747. 00:18:26.23\00:18:29.37 And you can ask for the study guide, 00:18:29.37\00:18:30.67 it's called "God Drew the Plans". 00:18:30.67\00:18:31.91 It's all about the sanctuary, 00:18:31.91\00:18:33.38 you've got the earthly sanctuary 00:18:33.38\00:18:34.48 that is a type of the heavenly sanctuary. 00:18:34.48\00:18:37.35 And it'll go into much more detail on that. 00:18:37.35\00:18:40.05 Who do we have next? 00:18:40.05\00:18:41.42 - We have Eric from Canada. 00:18:41.42\00:18:44.09 Welcome Eric. - Yes, I have a question, 00:18:44.09\00:18:47.32 do you know where Elisha was going somewhere, 00:18:47.32\00:18:50.53 and then a group of boys were mocking him 00:18:50.53\00:18:53.43 or calling him like a baldy? 00:18:53.43\00:18:55.30 - Yes. - Why is it that he 00:18:55.30\00:18:57.57 then cursed them and then bears came to maul them? 00:18:57.57\00:19:02.64 - Sure, let's talk about that case that you just quoted, 00:19:03.97\00:19:06.84 Elisha and Elijah. 00:19:06.84\00:19:08.58 So Elijah, just ascended to heaven in a fiery chariot, 00:19:08.58\00:19:12.75 and Elisha now received a double portion of the Spirit 00:19:12.75\00:19:16.65 and he was to do the work that Elijah did. 00:19:16.65\00:19:19.02 Elijah had considerable influence over Israel, 00:19:19.02\00:19:23.22 over the people, because the Lord had used him 00:19:23.22\00:19:25.29 in a mighty way, he was powerful in his work. 00:19:25.29\00:19:29.03 People didn't look at Elisha with the same status as Elijah. 00:19:29.03\00:19:32.90 And it was important that people realized, 00:19:32.90\00:19:34.70 that the Israelites realized that Elisha 00:19:34.70\00:19:36.47 was just as much called to do the work of God as Elijah did. 00:19:36.47\00:19:40.78 And so here, Elisha is, 00:19:40.78\00:19:42.14 he's going up a road, 00:19:42.14\00:19:43.51 and apparently people heard about Elijah going to heaven. 00:19:43.51\00:19:47.02 There was some young boys, now when the Bible says youth, 00:19:47.02\00:19:50.49 it's not talking about five, six year olds, 00:19:50.49\00:19:53.52 it's talking about probably young teenagers, 00:19:53.52\00:19:55.96 or even teenagers could be 16, 17, 18 years of age. 00:19:55.96\00:20:00.66 And they began to mock Elisha in the hearing of the people 00:20:00.66\00:20:04.50 in the village there. 00:20:04.50\00:20:05.60 And they said, go up bald man, 00:20:05.60\00:20:07.40 meaning they were saying like Elijah had gone to heaven, 00:20:07.40\00:20:10.11 they was saying, Elisha, 00:20:10.11\00:20:11.31 why don't you also go up? 00:20:11.31\00:20:12.41 Why don't you go to heaven? 00:20:12.41\00:20:13.71 And they mocked him. 00:20:13.71\00:20:15.41 And it was important at that point that people realized 00:20:15.41\00:20:18.38 that he was specially called by God. 00:20:18.38\00:20:21.02 And these bears came out and mauled the young men. 00:20:21.02\00:20:24.39 We don't have a record of them being killed, 00:20:24.39\00:20:26.92 but a lesson had to be taught. 00:20:26.92\00:20:28.99 And these weren't kids, these were young men 00:20:28.99\00:20:32.53 that had influence and the word quickly spread 00:20:32.53\00:20:34.86 that Elisha has just as much authority 00:20:34.86\00:20:37.53 and he's working just as much for God as Elijah did. 00:20:37.53\00:20:41.24 And that actually helped in doing the work 00:20:41.24\00:20:44.11 that Elisha was called to do. 00:20:44.11\00:20:45.91 So there was reason for that, and of course, 00:20:45.91\00:20:48.31 those kids deserved that, 00:20:48.31\00:20:49.61 they shouldn't be mocking a prophet, 00:20:49.61\00:20:51.55 that's not a good thing to do. 00:20:51.55\00:20:53.21 And then also, why is there so much violence 00:20:53.21\00:20:55.85 in the Old Testament, in Joshua? 00:20:55.85\00:20:56.99 Well, the Bible tells us 00:20:56.99\00:20:58.49 that when God brought Israel into the promised land, 00:20:58.49\00:21:00.42 He had given them, 00:21:00.42\00:21:01.52 the nations that were conquered by Israel, 00:21:01.52\00:21:04.13 He had given them time to repent, 00:21:04.13\00:21:05.93 400 years from the time of Abraham 00:21:05.93\00:21:08.30 to when the Israelites return to the land of promise. 00:21:08.30\00:21:11.47 Those nations were so steeped in idolatry and wickedness, 00:21:11.47\00:21:16.37 they were sacrificing their children 00:21:16.37\00:21:18.21 through the fire to Moloch and other gods, 00:21:18.21\00:21:20.41 and there's actually archeological finds. 00:21:20.41\00:21:22.68 One recent archeological find found these clay jars, 00:21:22.68\00:21:27.18 very big, filled with children's bones, 00:21:27.18\00:21:30.65 from the various pagan nations 00:21:30.65\00:21:32.95 that were offering their children to these pagan gods. 00:21:32.95\00:21:36.26 So there was so much wickedness taking place in the land 00:21:36.26\00:21:39.59 that a time of judgment had come, 00:21:39.59\00:21:41.96 almost like the flood before you know 00:21:41.96\00:21:44.00 the antediluvian world because of their sins, 00:21:44.00\00:21:46.80 they were wiped out, there was also a judgment 00:21:46.80\00:21:48.74 that came upon those pagan nations of Israel. 00:21:48.74\00:21:50.97 Alright, who do we have next? 00:21:52.07\00:21:53.84 - Next we have Joelle from Tennessee. 00:21:53.84\00:21:55.61 Joelle, you are live, welcome. 00:21:55.61\00:21:58.25 - [Joelle] My question for today is, 00:21:58.25\00:22:00.18 how do you know God's will? 00:22:00.18\00:22:01.55 'Cause sometimes I think He wants me to go one way 00:22:01.55\00:22:04.55 and then I'm not sure whether I go that way or not, 00:22:04.55\00:22:07.92 so how do you know God's will? 00:22:07.92\00:22:09.29 - Oh, okay, good question. 00:22:09.29\00:22:10.63 I think first of all, you wanna make sure 00:22:10.63\00:22:11.96 that what it is you want to do is in line 00:22:11.96\00:22:15.26 with what you understand to be truth in the Bible. 00:22:15.26\00:22:17.63 So it begins with the law and the testimony, 00:22:17.63\00:22:20.17 according to the scripture. 00:22:20.17\00:22:21.17 So you don't wanna do something 00:22:21.17\00:22:22.24 that's contradicting the Bible. 00:22:22.24\00:22:23.91 God will never lead us contrary to what the Bible says. 00:22:23.91\00:22:27.44 But let's say there's two good choices, 00:22:27.44\00:22:28.84 and you're trying to decide which way do you want to go? 00:22:28.84\00:22:31.31 Probably the next step is you pray about it, 00:22:31.31\00:22:33.18 you ask the Lord to lead, and then you seek godly counsel. 00:22:33.18\00:22:36.52 So you might wanna speak to people that you know 00:22:36.52\00:22:38.92 are good Christians, and get their input and their thoughts. 00:22:38.92\00:22:42.59 And then pray for providence, 00:22:42.59\00:22:44.16 pray that God will open doors and closed doors 00:22:44.16\00:22:46.43 based upon what His will is. 00:22:46.43\00:22:48.86 After all, if you believe that God 00:22:48.86\00:22:50.17 is wanting to lead you into His will 00:22:50.17\00:22:52.50 and you sincerely are seeking to do His will, 00:22:52.50\00:22:55.30 then you can trust His providence, 00:22:55.30\00:22:57.11 that if He opens up a door 00:22:57.11\00:22:58.94 and things seem to be going this way, 00:22:58.94\00:23:00.58 then you carefully and humbly follow the direction 00:23:00.58\00:23:04.08 that God is leading. 00:23:04.08\00:23:05.21 And if He changes and He directs you another way, 00:23:05.21\00:23:07.55 then you follow that leading. 00:23:07.55\00:23:09.28 So those are the things you wanna do. 00:23:09.28\00:23:11.22 Make sure that it's in harmony with the Word of God, 00:23:11.22\00:23:13.15 you wanna spend time in prayer, 00:23:13.15\00:23:14.69 asking for the Spirit to guide you, 00:23:14.69\00:23:16.06 you want to counsel with godly people 00:23:16.06\00:23:18.79 and get their guidance, and then thirdly, 00:23:18.79\00:23:22.00 you want to pray that God would just open the right doors 00:23:22.00\00:23:24.33 and pray that he would close the doors 00:23:24.33\00:23:26.30 that He doesn't want you to follow, 00:23:26.30\00:23:28.07 and then trust His leading. - Thank you, 00:23:28.07\00:23:30.61 that was very helpful. 00:23:31.41\00:23:32.21 - Alright, thanks for your call. 00:23:32.21\00:23:34.71 You know, we do have a book called, 00:23:34.71\00:23:35.78 "Determining the Will of God", 00:23:35.78\00:23:37.28 and we'll send it to anyone for free. 00:23:37.28\00:23:39.01 It's a good question, I mean, 00:23:39.01\00:23:40.12 what do you do in some situations. 00:23:40.12\00:23:42.15 If you'd like to receive the book, 00:23:42.15\00:23:43.25 the number to call is 800-835-6747. 00:23:43.25\00:23:47.06 And again, just ask for the book, 00:23:47.06\00:23:48.09 it's called "Determining the Will of God". 00:23:48.09\00:23:50.23 I'll be happy to send it to anyone here in north America. 00:23:50.23\00:23:53.66 Alright, who do we have next? 00:23:53.66\00:23:55.06 - Brenda, from Ohio, 00:23:55.06\00:23:56.46 you are on the air, welcome. 00:23:56.46\00:23:59.27 - [Brenda] Hi, thank you for taking my call. 00:23:59.27\00:24:01.44 My mom and I both listen to "Amazing Facts" quite a bit, 00:24:02.84\00:24:05.17 and she mentioned to me yesterday about, 00:24:05.17\00:24:07.51 she heard that pastor Batchelor 00:24:07.51\00:24:10.61 thought that maybe in the Bible days, men for instance, 00:24:10.61\00:24:15.68 didn't really mature until they were 00:24:16.75\00:24:17.55 like 80 to 100 years old, 00:24:17.55\00:24:19.75 and I can't remember why that came up, 00:24:19.75\00:24:22.22 but then the thought I had was, 00:24:22.22\00:24:24.09 well then did that mean that Mary was not a teenager 00:24:24.09\00:24:29.13 when she gave birth to Christ? 00:24:29.93\00:24:32.10 I kind of thought she was very young, like 14, 15, 00:24:32.10\00:24:35.10 maybe she was older, that's my question? 00:24:35.10\00:24:37.27 - Okay, good question. 00:24:37.27\00:24:38.67 Yes, with reference to people maturing older in Bible times, 00:24:38.67\00:24:41.88 I think pastors Doug's reference to that 00:24:41.88\00:24:43.55 was before the flood, and the reason for that 00:24:43.55\00:24:45.78 is you find that people lived a lot longer before the flood. 00:24:45.78\00:24:48.98 Often they wouldn't get married until 200 years 00:24:48.98\00:24:51.52 or 80 or 90 years old. 00:24:51.52\00:24:54.86 But that was before the flood. 00:24:54.86\00:24:56.42 After the flood, and especially at the time of Christ, 00:24:56.42\00:24:59.26 yes, people were getting married a lot younger. 00:24:59.26\00:25:02.30 And so it was true, men were a little older 00:25:02.30\00:25:04.67 when they typically got married, they'd have a career, 00:25:04.67\00:25:06.50 they'd know what they're doing. 00:25:06.50\00:25:08.10 Woman would marry younger. 00:25:08.10\00:25:10.04 And Mary was a young girl. 00:25:10.04\00:25:12.51 I don't think she was as young as 13, 14, 15 years old. 00:25:12.51\00:25:16.91 She was probably either in her late teens or early 20s. 00:25:16.91\00:25:20.68 It appears that Joseph was older than her 00:25:20.68\00:25:22.75 because at the time that Christ 00:25:22.75\00:25:24.35 began his public ministry at 30, 00:25:24.35\00:25:26.55 Joseph was out of the scene, he had died at that point. 00:25:26.55\00:25:30.89 So yes, Mary is probably in her late teens, 00:25:31.93\00:25:35.63 maybe early 20s, somewhere in there when shared Jesus. 00:25:35.63\00:25:39.60 - [Brenda] Okay, thank you very much. 00:25:41.04\00:25:42.67 - Alright, thanks for your question. 00:25:42.67\00:25:44.71 Well pastor Carlos, 00:25:44.71\00:25:45.84 I don't think we have time for another call, 00:25:45.84\00:25:47.11 you hear the music playing in the background? 00:25:47.11\00:25:49.31 Friends, we're not ending the program by any means, 00:25:49.31\00:25:51.01 we've got another half an hour of Bible questions. 00:25:51.01\00:25:53.58 But we are gonna take a short break 00:25:53.58\00:25:55.32 and then we're back for more Bible questions. 00:25:55.32\00:25:57.29 So stay tuned, we'll be right back. 00:25:57.29\00:25:59.42 (gentle instrumental music) 00:25:59.42\00:26:03.53 - [Narrator #1] Stay tuned, 00:26:03.53\00:26:04.66 "Bible Answers Live" will return shortly. 00:26:04.66\00:26:07.03 (gentle instrumental music) 00:26:08.23\00:26:10.40 - [Narrator #2] Have you ever skipped a meal? 00:31:28.75\00:31:30.09 - Next we have Rosanna from New York. 00:31:30.09\00:31:33.66 Hello, Rosanna. - Hello, thank you guys. 00:31:33.66\00:31:37.39 My question is in Revelation, the first three chapters, 00:31:37.39\00:31:42.43 Jesus explained that the seven stars in His right hand 00:31:43.83\00:31:46.77 are the angels, and the lamp stands are the churches. 00:31:46.77\00:31:50.97 So why when He writes the letters, 00:31:50.97\00:31:53.38 He starts the letters off to the angel of Ephesus, 00:31:56.48\00:32:01.05 like He names each church, 00:32:01.05\00:32:02.38 but He's writing to the angels as opposed to the people? 00:32:02.38\00:32:06.42 - Okay, good question. 00:32:06.42\00:32:07.99 Now the word there angel that we find in the Greek 00:32:07.99\00:32:10.86 is angelos, it literally means messenger. 00:32:10.86\00:32:14.10 And it's kind of nice to think that, yes, 00:32:14.10\00:32:15.83 there are angels assigned to different churches, 00:32:15.83\00:32:18.07 I like that idea. 00:32:18.07\00:32:19.47 But the word angelos also has a broader application, 00:32:19.47\00:32:22.10 especially in the book or Revelation, 00:32:22.10\00:32:23.37 it means messenger or leader. 00:32:23.37\00:32:25.74 And so the letters written to the seven churches 00:32:25.74\00:32:28.31 were written to the leaders of the churches, 00:32:28.31\00:32:31.28 and they were the ones that would share 00:32:31.28\00:32:32.85 the message to the rest of the congregation. 00:32:32.85\00:32:35.85 That's why there is a blessing 00:32:35.85\00:32:36.99 for those who hear the words of the prophecy, 00:32:36.99\00:32:39.15 those who read the words of the prophecy, 00:32:39.15\00:32:41.16 and those who keep the words of the prophecy. 00:32:41.16\00:32:44.03 So when the letter came, 00:32:44.03\00:32:45.53 the first letter was addressed the church of Ephesus. 00:32:45.53\00:32:47.66 So John wrote the letter on the Island of Patmos, 00:32:47.66\00:32:50.00 it was mailed to the church of Ephesus. 00:32:50.00\00:32:52.90 And one church service, the elder of the church, 00:32:52.90\00:32:56.27 the one in charge, got up and he read the letter 00:32:56.27\00:32:58.51 that had just come from their beloved, John, 00:32:58.51\00:33:01.34 who was the pastor of the church of Ephesus 00:33:01.34\00:33:04.15 before he was taken to Patmos. 00:33:04.15\00:33:05.31 He would read the letter 00:33:05.31\00:33:06.82 and then it was carefully copied by hand, 00:33:06.82\00:33:09.18 and then it was sent to the next church, 00:33:09.18\00:33:10.89 to the church of Smyrna, 00:33:10.89\00:33:12.25 and they did the same thing in that church, 00:33:12.25\00:33:13.96 they read the letter, they copied it, 00:33:13.96\00:33:15.22 and they sent it to the next church. 00:33:15.22\00:33:17.73 And so the letter worked its way around 00:33:17.73\00:33:18.53 all seven of the churches, 00:33:18.53\00:33:20.66 and then I'm sure it was sent to all of the churches, 00:33:20.66\00:33:23.93 at least those in the area of Turkey 00:33:23.93\00:33:25.67 and copied and multiplied, and that's how we have it today. 00:33:25.67\00:33:29.00 So the angel there simply means the leader or the messenger 00:33:29.00\00:33:32.01 that is to bring the message to the church. 00:33:32.01\00:33:34.74 We also have the three angels messages 00:33:34.74\00:33:36.28 in Revelations 14, and the three angels of Revelation 14 00:33:36.28\00:33:40.12 really represent God's people at the end of time 00:33:40.12\00:33:43.05 that are taking the everlasting gospel to every nation, 00:33:43.05\00:33:45.52 kinder, tongue, and people. 00:33:45.52\00:33:46.99 So an angel there means messenger. 00:33:46.99\00:33:49.19 - [Rosanna] Thank you so much, I appreciate that. 00:33:49.19\00:33:50.86 - Does that help? - Oh my goodness, yes, 00:33:50.86\00:33:53.19 thank you. - Alright, you're welcome. 00:33:53.19\00:33:54.96 Thanks for your call. 00:33:54.96\00:33:56.36 - Next we have David from Michigan. 00:33:56.36\00:33:58.40 David welcome to "Bible Answers Live". 00:33:58.40\00:34:00.84 - [David 2] Hi pastors, good evening. 00:34:00.84\00:34:03.20 Hebrews 6 says that we should move onto perfection, 00:34:03.20\00:34:08.28 not laying again the foundation of the doctrine of baptisms 00:34:09.84\00:34:14.32 and other things. 00:34:14.32\00:34:15.35 Just asking a question about how we can move on 00:34:16.45\00:34:21.49 from the doctrine of infant baptism that's present? 00:34:22.82\00:34:26.76 I know there's some divisions regarding that, 00:34:26.76\00:34:29.03 how do we understand infant baptism? 00:34:29.03\00:34:32.63 - Okay, good question. 00:34:32.63\00:34:34.10 Now in the context here, 00:34:34.10\00:34:35.20 we have Paul who wrote the book of Hebrews 00:34:35.20\00:34:37.01 and he's writing to believers, 00:34:37.01\00:34:39.21 and apparently this is a follow up, 00:34:39.21\00:34:41.61 it's not something brand new because in 6:1 it says, 00:34:41.61\00:34:45.25 "Therefore, leaving the discussion 00:34:45.25\00:34:46.65 of the elementary principles", 00:34:46.65\00:34:48.02 these are things that they'd already studied of Christ. 00:34:48.02\00:34:51.15 "Let's go on to perfection", 00:34:51.15\00:34:52.45 meaning fullness, a full understanding of Bible truth. 00:34:52.45\00:34:56.16 "Not laying again the foundation of repentance 00:34:56.16\00:34:58.33 from dead works", 'cause that already been discussed 00:34:58.33\00:35:00.46 in other later and in sermons. 00:35:00.46\00:35:02.60 "And faith towards God, the doctrine of baptism, 00:35:02.60\00:35:05.40 the laying on of hands, the resurrection from the dead, 00:35:05.40\00:35:07.57 and eternal judgment." 00:35:07.57\00:35:08.80 And he says, these things will do if God permits, 00:35:10.17\00:35:11.27 meaning if they have enough time, 00:35:11.27\00:35:12.64 and he's writing the letter and he wants to talk more 00:35:12.64\00:35:15.21 about the priestly ministry of Jesus, 00:35:15.21\00:35:17.05 that's really the focus of Hebrews. 00:35:17.05\00:35:19.05 So when he says going on, 00:35:19.05\00:35:20.45 it's not meaning that those are not important doctrines, 00:35:20.45\00:35:22.75 it's meaning that Paul had already discussed 00:35:22.75\00:35:24.69 those doctrines, he had already provided some guidance 00:35:24.69\00:35:27.72 on those doctrines. 00:35:27.72\00:35:29.22 Now specifically about the doctrine of baptism, 00:35:29.22\00:35:32.06 if you look at what the Bible teaches on baptism, 00:35:32.06\00:35:34.10 baptism needs to follow repentance, 00:35:34.10\00:35:37.27 and an infant can't repent. 00:35:37.27\00:35:39.63 So baptism needs to be done 00:35:39.63\00:35:41.27 hen a person is old enough to recognize 00:35:41.27\00:35:43.10 that they're a sinner to come, 00:35:43.10\00:35:45.67 to Christ and ask Him for forgiveness, 00:35:45.67\00:35:47.08 and to commit their life publicly saying, 00:35:47.08\00:35:49.51 I'm following Jesus, and that is through baptism. 00:35:49.51\00:35:52.48 So infant baptism is not a teaching in the Bible. 00:35:52.48\00:35:55.48 It kind of came in, pastor Carlos, 00:35:55.48\00:35:57.12 during the dark ages. 00:35:57.12\00:35:59.09 Part of the problem at that time 00:35:59.09\00:36:00.49 is so many babies were dying 00:36:00.49\00:36:02.99 and the false teaching was prominent 00:36:02.99\00:36:05.29 that if you weren't baptized, 00:36:05.29\00:36:07.40 - You'd be condemned. - you had no chance, 00:36:07.40\00:36:08.46 yeah, of salvation or eternal life. 00:36:08.46\00:36:11.00 And so the custom grew of baptizing children 00:36:11.00\00:36:14.37 as soon as possible, but that's not what the Bible teaches. 00:36:14.37\00:36:17.31 It doesn't mean that if you're not baptized, 00:36:17.31\00:36:19.04 you can't be saved, and you're a baby and you die. 00:36:19.04\00:36:21.48 But baptism is a public profession of Christ. 00:36:21.48\00:36:24.71 And that's why it's so important. 00:36:24.71\00:36:27.05 Does that make sense? - That does make sense. 00:36:27.05\00:36:30.85 I know I have other questions in my mind, 00:36:30.85\00:36:32.69 like I know Paul also writes in his letter to the Romans, 00:36:32.69\00:36:35.79 he says, repentance is a gift from God, 00:36:35.79\00:36:39.09 and that it's something that we don't always perform. 00:36:39.09\00:36:43.70 So when that gift is performed, 00:36:43.70\00:36:47.47 that will be something that God will lead us into doing 00:36:49.64\00:36:54.71 after He gives us repentance 00:36:55.51\00:36:56.85 or after. - Yes. 00:36:56.85\00:36:58.41 On the day of Pentecost, when Peter got up and preached 00:36:59.75\00:37:02.02 and the people said, what do we need to do to be saved? 00:37:02.02\00:37:04.72 Peter responded, says, 00:37:04.72\00:37:05.85 repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus. 00:37:05.85\00:37:09.09 So you've got repentance that precedes baptism. 00:37:09.09\00:37:11.83 Baptism is the public proclamation of your decision 00:37:11.83\00:37:14.63 that you are following Christ. - Yes, thanks. 00:37:14.63\00:37:18.50 - Alright, well, 00:37:18.50\00:37:19.70 thanks your call, David. 00:37:19.70\00:37:21.17 We do have a book, it's called, 00:37:21.17\00:37:23.14 "Baptism, is it Really Necessary?" 00:37:23.14\00:37:24.47 And we'll be happy to send this to anyone who calls and ask. 00:37:24.47\00:37:26.31 All you need to do is call the number, 800-835-6747, 00:37:26.31\00:37:30.81 and ask for the book, it's called, 00:37:30.81\00:37:31.91 "Baptism, is it Really Necessary". 00:37:31.91\00:37:33.65 And pastor Carlos, 00:37:33.65\00:37:35.22 I know you've been involved in a number of baptisms. 00:37:35.22\00:37:36.25 It's a beautiful thing to see somebody 00:37:36.25\00:37:38.92 make that public decision to follow Christ. 00:37:38.92\00:37:41.49 - Amen. 00:37:41.49\00:37:42.86 It's gorgeous how you come out of the water, and like, 00:37:42.86\00:37:46.53 I love taking showers. - Yeah. 00:37:46.53\00:37:48.03 - So that cleanness of putting your best life behind you 00:37:48.03\00:37:51.73 and starting a new life in Christ. 00:37:51.73\00:37:53.57 - Now you've been involved in a number of baptisms, 00:37:53.57\00:37:55.64 what was the most special baptism that you actually did? 00:37:55.64\00:38:00.71 I know you were baptized of course, but other than that, 00:38:02.11\00:38:03.88 you've done a number of meetings, 00:38:03.88\00:38:05.31 you've baptized a lot of people, 00:38:05.31\00:38:07.48 what was the most specialist baptism? 00:38:07.48\00:38:08.98 - Oh, that's easy, 00:38:08.98\00:38:09.95 baptizing my mother. 00:38:09.95\00:38:11.29 - That's right, that's what I was thinking about. 00:38:11.29\00:38:13.15 You did a series of meetings 00:38:13.15\00:38:14.56 and your mother made a decision, and she was baptized. 00:38:14.56\00:38:16.73 - Amen. - That's a special thing. 00:38:16.73\00:38:18.13 - Amen. - Alright, 00:38:18.13\00:38:19.79 who do we have next? 00:38:19.79\00:38:20.90 - Next we have Robert from North Carolina. 00:38:20.90\00:38:24.60 - Hi, Robert, welcome to the program. 00:38:25.63\00:38:27.70 - [Robert] Yes, I had a question, 00:38:27.70\00:38:29.57 sorry, brain freeze, I had a question about tithe, 00:38:32.44\00:38:35.78 but I've changed my mind while I was on hold. 00:38:35.78\00:38:38.68 I wanted to ask about what does it mean in the Bible 00:38:38.68\00:38:41.28 where it says, the worm does not die? 00:38:41.28\00:38:44.65 Because as far as my belief, 00:38:44.65\00:38:46.92 everything that goes to lake of fire is burnt up, 00:38:46.92\00:38:49.42 it's gone, it's to be no more? 00:38:49.42\00:38:51.23 - Yes. 00:38:51.23\00:38:52.23 The phrase the worm does not die 00:38:52.23\00:38:54.13 is a reference to the city dump 00:38:54.13\00:38:56.30 that was outside of Jerusalem. 00:38:56.30\00:38:59.00 So in the valley, outside of Jerusalem, 00:38:59.00\00:39:01.80 all the refuse will be thrown, 00:39:01.80\00:39:03.67 there was constant fires burning, 00:39:03.67\00:39:06.17 they would even throw dead animals in there, 00:39:06.17\00:39:08.31 and even the bodies of criminals sometimes. 00:39:08.31\00:39:10.75 So just like a city dump outside of the city now, 00:39:11.88\00:39:15.32 at least a number of years ago, 00:39:15.32\00:39:17.35 there would always be fire burning, 00:39:17.35\00:39:18.85 the smoke would always be ascending, 00:39:18.85\00:39:20.32 it was always a smelly place, 00:39:20.32\00:39:22.86 there were worms that were devouring 00:39:22.86\00:39:25.13 the flesh of dead animals or whatever it might be. 00:39:25.13\00:39:27.76 So the context there, 00:39:27.76\00:39:29.30 the imagery that's used is the city dump. 00:39:29.30\00:39:31.93 Meaning, there is no more value. 00:39:31.93\00:39:34.20 It's a symbolic reference 00:39:34.20\00:39:36.50 to the final destruction of the wicked. 00:39:36.50\00:39:38.87 It's not talking about a literal worm 00:39:38.87\00:39:41.11 that's gonna be in the lake of fire, 00:39:41.11\00:39:42.98 that's gonna be eating people, that's not biblical. 00:39:42.98\00:39:46.48 It's just an idiomatic expression that was used. 00:39:46.48\00:39:49.82 And it was common to the people, 00:39:49.82\00:39:51.55 when you spoke about the place where the worm doesn't die, 00:39:51.55\00:39:54.56 you know you're talking about the city dump, 00:39:54.56\00:39:57.16 and it means a place where you throw refuse. 00:39:57.16\00:40:00.13 Hopefully that helps Robert. 00:40:00.13\00:40:01.70 Who do we have next? 00:40:01.70\00:40:03.40 - Next we have Jeremiah from Texas. 00:40:03.40\00:40:06.07 Welcome, Jeremiah, to "Bible Answers Live". 00:40:06.07\00:40:08.64 - [Jeremiah] Hello, pastor Ross and pastor Carlos, 00:40:10.27\00:40:12.54 thank you for taking my call. 00:40:12.54\00:40:14.41 - Yes, how can we help you? 00:40:14.41\00:40:16.08 - [Jeremiah] Yeah, my question is about fasting. 00:40:17.41\00:40:20.12 - Okay. - Several times in the Bible, 00:40:20.12\00:40:23.85 whenever the nation of Israel 00:40:23.85\00:40:25.82 or an individual had some kind of challenge or hardship, 00:40:25.82\00:40:29.62 they would fast and pray, like before Queen Esther 00:40:29.62\00:40:33.23 went to see the king and announced, 00:40:33.23\00:40:35.03 the nation of Israel fasted three days. 00:40:36.30\00:40:37.83 And even Daniel was fasting when God sent Gabriel 00:40:37.83\00:40:40.90 with the 70 weeks prophecy. 00:40:40.90\00:40:44.11 And there's even the story where the disciples failed 00:40:44.11\00:40:47.61 at casting out a demon, and Jesus said, 00:40:47.61\00:40:49.78 this one only comes out by fasting and prayer. 00:40:49.78\00:40:53.62 So my question is what is it about fasting 00:40:53.62\00:40:57.85 that seems to lead to divine intervention? 00:40:57.85\00:41:01.29 - Okay, good question. 00:41:01.29\00:41:02.89 I think when somebody fasts, 00:41:02.89\00:41:04.29 it's setting aside something 00:41:04.29\00:41:06.63 that we almost take for granted, 00:41:07.86\00:41:09.53 eating is something pleasurable, we do it all the time. 00:41:09.53\00:41:11.87 But when we set that aside for a period of time 00:41:11.87\00:41:14.67 and we're focusing our attention 00:41:14.67\00:41:16.30 on requesting something special from God, 00:41:16.30\00:41:19.17 it is the clearing of the mind, 00:41:19.17\00:41:20.61 it is removing the distraction, 00:41:20.61\00:41:22.28 even though you might be hungry, 00:41:22.28\00:41:23.65 but it's giving up something because you feel burdened, 00:41:23.65\00:41:27.42 your burden is greater, 00:41:27.42\00:41:28.75 and you really are longing for the Lord to answer 00:41:28.75\00:41:31.35 a prayer or to do something for you. 00:41:31.35\00:41:33.36 There is a blessing in fasting, it's good for you, 00:41:34.66\00:41:36.69 for most folks, it's good for them to fast, 00:41:36.69\00:41:39.29 if they're not a diabetic. 00:41:39.29\00:41:40.76 But I think also just clearing the mind, 00:41:40.76\00:41:42.90 being able to focus on something specific. 00:41:42.90\00:41:45.33 You know, pastor Carlos, 00:41:45.33\00:41:46.87 I remember we had a church member a number of years ago 00:41:46.87\00:41:48.87 that was diagnosed with cancer, 00:41:48.87\00:41:50.41 and he was just a pillar in the church, wonderful person, 00:41:50.41\00:41:53.31 was one of the elders. 00:41:53.31\00:41:55.04 And it was a very serious diagnosis, 00:41:55.04\00:41:57.91 and the elders of the church and the pastors, 00:41:57.91\00:42:00.78 they felt so strongly about wanting 00:42:00.78\00:42:02.92 to offer intercessory prayer for him, that they fasted. 00:42:02.92\00:42:06.86 We fasted for a week, and at the end of that week, 00:42:06.86\00:42:10.66 prayer and fasting, multiple people fasting, 00:42:10.66\00:42:12.89 and we didn't eat any food, just liquids. 00:42:12.89\00:42:15.70 At the end of that week, 00:42:15.70\00:42:16.97 the amazing thing was that he went for another test, 00:42:18.37\00:42:20.27 came back, absolutely no cancer whatsoever. 00:42:20.27\00:42:22.90 - Amen. - The doctors 00:42:22.90\00:42:24.37 couldn't believe, well, 00:42:24.37\00:42:25.81 we believe that was because of the prayer 00:42:25.81\00:42:27.14 and the fasting of the believes in the church. 00:42:28.24\00:42:29.54 So there is power in just simply doing what God has said. 00:42:29.54\00:42:32.48 Setting aside food, focusing attention on spiritual things, 00:42:32.48\00:42:35.92 and earnestly interceding on behalf of somebody else. 00:42:35.92\00:42:39.45 Or if we have a special spiritual need, 00:42:39.45\00:42:41.72 asking God for the blessing of that. 00:42:41.72\00:42:43.99 I know, pastor Carlos, 00:42:43.99\00:42:45.09 you're involved in helping folks, 00:42:45.09\00:42:47.10 we got a series of meetings coming up 00:42:47.10\00:42:49.00 and we're encouraging people to fast. 00:42:49.00\00:42:50.90 Now fasting doesn't mean that you're abstain 00:42:50.90\00:42:52.93 from food all the time, 00:42:52.93\00:42:54.20 right? - Yeah. 00:42:54.20\00:42:55.57 - You can fast other ways too? 00:42:55.57\00:42:56.87 - Yeah, there are partial fastings. 00:42:56.87\00:42:58.31 You might fast from certain things that you know 00:42:58.31\00:42:59.54 are harmful for you and you've been eating, 00:42:59.54\00:43:01.04 or you can fast one day on one day off, 00:43:01.04\00:43:03.68 you might fast breakfast only or lunch. 00:43:03.68\00:43:05.78 So there's different methods and different ways to fast. 00:43:05.78\00:43:08.18 - Okay, very good. - Yeah. 00:43:08.18\00:43:09.58 - Does that help Jeremiah? - Yeah, thank you, 00:43:10.85\00:43:13.62 that was very helpful. 00:43:13.62\00:43:15.19 - Alright, thanks for your call. 00:43:15.19\00:43:16.79 Who do we have next? 00:43:16.79\00:43:17.83 - Next we have Mark from Michigan, 00:43:17.83\00:43:19.19 you're on "Bible Answers Live". 00:43:19.19\00:43:21.33 - [Mark] Good evening. 00:43:21.33\00:43:22.90 My question is not about predestination or election, 00:43:22.90\00:43:26.17 but I'm kind of curious, 00:43:26.17\00:43:27.50 Matthew 11:28 talks about Jesus saying, 00:43:27.50\00:43:30.77 "Come onto Me all you that labor and are heavy laden, 00:43:30.77\00:43:34.18 and I will give you rest." 00:43:34.18\00:43:35.24 So He is talking to everybody for salvation. 00:43:35.24\00:43:38.68 But in Matthew 22:14, it says, 00:43:38.68\00:43:41.68 "For many are called, but few are chosen." 00:43:41.68\00:43:44.09 And I'm just wondering if all of us 00:43:44.09\00:43:46.62 are called to be disciples or not, 00:43:46.62\00:43:49.72 and what the difference is in this case? 00:43:49.72\00:43:51.83 - Okay, let me talk about those two verses. 00:43:51.83\00:43:53.63 The first one, Jesus says, 00:43:53.63\00:43:54.96 come unto to Me all ye that labor and are heavy laden. 00:43:54.96\00:43:56.80 And of course, the gospel invitation goes to everyone. 00:43:56.80\00:44:00.30 But the ones who are chosen are the ones 00:44:00.30\00:44:02.40 that respond to that gospel invitation, 00:44:02.40\00:44:05.37 those who surrender their lives to Christ. 00:44:05.37\00:44:07.44 Jesus said, not everyone says, 00:44:07.44\00:44:09.01 Lord, Lord will enter into the kingdom of heaven, 00:44:09.01\00:44:10.71 but he that does the will of My Father in heaven. 00:44:10.71\00:44:13.42 So it's true, the gospel is preached, 00:44:13.42\00:44:15.38 we need to preach it to everyone, 00:44:15.38\00:44:16.95 we need to give them the gospel invitation, 00:44:16.95\00:44:18.59 but the ones who respond to that gospel invitation, 00:44:18.59\00:44:22.72 they're the ones who are chosen, 00:44:22.72\00:44:24.36 meaning they have actually responded. 00:44:24.36\00:44:27.40 But having said all of that, 00:44:27.40\00:44:28.50 does God call all of us to be disciples? 00:44:28.50\00:44:31.00 Yes. 00:44:31.00\00:44:32.10 Now that doesn't mean that God calls all of us 00:44:32.10\00:44:34.04 to go to foreign lands as missionaries. 00:44:34.04\00:44:37.11 He might call some of us to do that, but wherever we are, 00:44:37.11\00:44:40.44 whatever we do, if we claim to be a Christian, 00:44:40.44\00:44:43.11 we ought to be a witness, 00:44:43.11\00:44:44.51 we ought to be a disciple of Christ, and disciple makers. 00:44:44.51\00:44:48.08 And God will reveal to us what area of ministry 00:44:48.08\00:44:50.62 He wants us to be involved in. 00:44:50.62\00:44:51.82 Whether it's the local church ministry, 00:44:51.82\00:44:53.29 or whether it's giving Bible studies, 00:44:53.29\00:44:54.72 or witnessing, or whatever it is, 00:44:54.72\00:44:56.09 we all need to witness, we all need to share our faith. 00:44:56.09\00:44:58.89 So in that sense, we are all called to be disciples. 00:44:58.89\00:45:01.53 - Okay, thank you. - Alright, 00:45:02.73\00:45:04.40 thanks for call, Mark. 00:45:04.40\00:45:05.83 - Next we have Joyce from Virginia. 00:45:05.83\00:45:08.00 You are live, welcome Joyce. 00:45:08.00\00:45:10.21 - [Joyce] Thank you for taking it. 00:45:10.21\00:45:11.84 I'm just asking a question, someone said, 00:45:11.84\00:45:16.44 if you're not baptized in Jesus name, 00:45:18.28\00:45:21.18 you won't go to heaven, and I'm not even sure about that? 00:45:21.18\00:45:26.25 - Okay, good question. 00:45:26.92\00:45:28.19 Do you have to be baptized to go to heaven? 00:45:28.19\00:45:29.29 Well, Jesus said. - No, in Jesus name. 00:45:29.29\00:45:32.03 - Oh, in Jesus' name. 00:45:32.03\00:45:33.09 Well, I think when somebody. - Yeah, 00:45:33.09\00:45:34.10 if you're not baptized in Jesus' name, 00:45:34.10\00:45:36.63 you won't go to heaven. 00:45:36.63\00:45:38.57 - Okay, well, 00:45:38.57\00:45:39.83 when somebody's baptized, usually what we do 00:45:39.83\00:45:41.74 is we follow the biblical admonition. 00:45:41.74\00:45:44.31 Jesus said baptize in the name of the Father, 00:45:44.31\00:45:46.51 the name of the Son, and in the name of the Holy Spirit. 00:45:46.51\00:45:49.38 So if you're gonna baptize somebody, 00:45:49.38\00:45:51.38 you wanna baptize them in the name of the Father, 00:45:51.38\00:45:53.25 you wanna baptize them in the name of His Son, Jesus Christ, 00:45:53.25\00:45:56.48 and in the name of the Holy Spirit. 00:45:56.48\00:45:58.75 So the exact wording, I know some people have an issue 00:45:58.75\00:46:02.79 about how exactly you need to say those words 00:46:02.79\00:46:06.26 when a person is baptized, 00:46:06.26\00:46:07.60 but the Bible is not focusing on how the words are said, 00:46:07.60\00:46:11.37 it's what is said. 00:46:11.37\00:46:12.90 Are we baptizing, are we committing ourselves 00:46:12.90\00:46:15.47 to the gospel message of the Father, 00:46:15.47\00:46:17.27 Son, and the Holy Spirit, 00:46:17.27\00:46:18.61 accepting Jesus as our personal savior. 00:46:18.61\00:46:20.98 So if somebody's baptized the name of the Father, 00:46:20.98\00:46:22.91 Son, and Holy Spirit, 00:46:22.91\00:46:24.35 that's perfectly legitimate baptism. 00:46:24.35\00:46:27.05 If someone's baptized in the name of the Father, 00:46:27.05\00:46:29.02 the Son, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit, 00:46:29.02\00:46:31.22 that's also perfectly legitimate baptism. 00:46:31.22\00:46:34.29 So don't let the exact wording think 00:46:34.29\00:46:38.43 that a person's not saved or lost 00:46:38.43\00:46:40.10 if it's not said just perfect. 00:46:40.10\00:46:42.36 Does that help Joyce? 00:46:42.36\00:46:43.87 - Yes, it does help. - Okay. 00:46:44.80\00:46:46.30 - [Joyce] This is Joyce and it does help. 00:46:46.30\00:46:47.87 Yes, thank you so much. - Yes, thank you, Joyce. 00:46:47.87\00:46:49.04 Alright, Julie in South Dakota, 00:46:49.04\00:46:50.97 welcome to the program. 00:46:50.97\00:46:52.94 - [Julie] Well, thank you. 00:46:52.94\00:46:54.04 Hi, pastor Ross and hi, pastor Carlos. 00:46:54.04\00:46:56.21 - Hello. - My question tonight, 00:46:57.31\00:46:58.41 I was just wondering if you would summarize 00:46:58.41\00:47:00.15 the last day's events leading up 00:47:00.15\00:47:03.65 to the close of probation, 00:47:03.65\00:47:05.45 and then when will probation close? 00:47:05.45\00:47:07.82 - Okay, good question. 00:47:07.82\00:47:09.39 Alright, first of all, 00:47:09.39\00:47:10.49 do we know when probation closes? 00:47:10.49\00:47:12.23 The answer is no, there's no time prophecy in the Bible 00:47:12.23\00:47:14.83 that tells us after so many years or so many months, 00:47:14.83\00:47:17.70 probation will close. 00:47:17.70\00:47:19.07 But we do know that certain events need to take place 00:47:19.07\00:47:21.27 before probation closes. 00:47:21.27\00:47:22.97 Several things, we're looking at a shaking taking place 00:47:24.31\00:47:26.98 within Christianity, within the church. 00:47:26.98\00:47:29.31 There is a separating of those who truly love God 00:47:29.31\00:47:32.91 and those who don't. 00:47:32.91\00:47:34.42 There is also a special outpouring of the Holy Spirit 00:47:34.42\00:47:37.59 that is to come, we call that the latter reign, 00:47:37.59\00:47:40.02 and that'll embolden the church, 00:47:40.02\00:47:41.79 there will be a revival taking place 00:47:41.79\00:47:43.43 amongst God's true followers. 00:47:43.43\00:47:45.36 There will be a loud proclamation 00:47:45.36\00:47:47.50 of the three angels messages, 00:47:47.50\00:47:49.26 first angel, worship God, 00:47:49.26\00:47:51.13 the one who made the heavens, the earth, 00:47:51.13\00:47:52.80 the sea, the hour of his judgment has come. 00:47:52.80\00:47:54.37 The second angel, Babylon has fallen, 00:47:54.37\00:47:56.04 it's fallen. 00:47:56.04\00:47:57.34 The third angel, if anyone worships the beast, 00:47:57.34\00:47:58.44 or his image, or receives his mark. 00:47:58.44\00:48:00.78 So this loud proclamation, you also see in Revelation 18, 00:48:00.78\00:48:03.98 we call this the fourth angels message, 00:48:03.98\00:48:05.61 where the earth is illuminated with God's glory. 00:48:05.61\00:48:07.92 All of that takes place before probation closes. 00:48:07.92\00:48:10.99 And we also have the mark of the beast issue 00:48:10.99\00:48:13.22 that is also been enforce during that time period 00:48:13.22\00:48:16.69 before probation closes. 00:48:16.69\00:48:18.49 God's people have the seal of God. 00:48:18.49\00:48:20.66 And again, the mark of the beast and the seal of God, 00:48:20.66\00:48:22.76 it's symbolic, it's not a literal mark that people 00:48:22.76\00:48:26.10 receive. And then after this loud cry is given 00:48:26.10\00:48:28.54 and everyone has had an opportunity to hear the gospel 00:48:28.54\00:48:30.47 and to make their choice as to which side they wanna be on, 00:48:30.47\00:48:33.71 then probation closes. 00:48:33.71\00:48:35.31 After probation closes, then you have the seven last plagues 00:48:35.31\00:48:38.35 that you find recorded in Revelation 15 and 16. 00:48:38.35\00:48:41.68 And the last of those seven plagues 00:48:41.68\00:48:43.62 is the actual second coming of Christ. 00:48:43.62\00:48:46.29 So that's kind of the sequence of events. 00:48:46.29\00:48:48.32 We're looking for revival in the church, 00:48:48.32\00:48:50.23 we're looking for a special outpouring of the Holy Spirit, 00:48:50.23\00:48:52.46 the gospel is to be preached to all the world. 00:48:52.46\00:48:55.16 You have the mark of the beast issue, 00:48:55.16\00:48:56.83 a uniting of church and state, 00:48:56.83\00:48:59.17 and then the close of probation, 00:48:59.17\00:49:01.44 and then the seven last plagues. 00:49:01.44\00:49:03.10 Does that help you? - Okay, well, 00:49:05.34\00:49:06.41 thank you so much, that really helped a lot. 00:49:06.41\00:49:08.91 I appreciate it. - Alright, 00:49:08.91\00:49:10.51 thanks for your call. 00:49:10.51\00:49:11.65 - Yeah. 00:49:44.98\00:49:46.08 Well, Anthony, it sounds like yes, 00:49:46.08\00:49:47.48 you've got some challenges, 00:49:47.48\00:49:48.78 and I'm glad you're listening to "Bible Answers Live", 00:49:48.78\00:49:51.69 it sounds as though you're open to seeking God's guidance 00:49:51.69\00:49:54.96 and looking for God's help. 00:49:54.96\00:49:56.73 The good news is that we can never get as low, 00:49:56.73\00:49:59.09 we can never be so overwhelmed with trials and difficulties 00:49:59.09\00:50:02.33 that we can't call out to God. 00:50:02.33\00:50:04.00 Sometimes we do need to kind of hit rock bottom 00:50:04.00\00:50:06.74 before we are willing to allow the Lord to work. 00:50:06.74\00:50:09.90 I think the first thing you want to do is, 00:50:09.90\00:50:12.57 if you have not yet, you want to get on your knees and say, 00:50:12.57\00:50:15.48 Lord, I commit my life to You, 00:50:15.48\00:50:17.95 you want to ask God to lead in your life, 00:50:17.95\00:50:20.78 you want to find good Christian fellowship, 00:50:20.78\00:50:23.22 connect with the church, start building relationships. 00:50:23.22\00:50:26.96 And then just pray that the Lord will open up doors 00:50:28.29\00:50:30.36 as you seek to follow Him and lean on Him. 00:50:30.36\00:50:33.23 Claim the promises of the Bible, Jesus said, 00:50:33.23\00:50:35.26 I'll never leave you nor forsake you. 00:50:35.26\00:50:37.53 The Bible says, if you lack wisdom, 00:50:37.53\00:50:39.10 in James, you can ask of God and He will give, 00:50:39.10\00:50:41.74 if you need to make some decisions. 00:50:41.74\00:50:43.81 Take responsibility for your life, 00:50:43.81\00:50:45.91 take responsibility for your choices that you have made, 00:50:45.91\00:50:49.04 try to be the best father that you can be. 00:50:49.04\00:50:53.48 Try to get a job and do the best 00:50:53.48\00:50:55.82 you can to provide for your family. 00:50:55.82\00:50:57.95 But then also seek the Lord, seek His guidance 00:50:57.95\00:51:00.32 and His leading, and the Lord will open up the way. 00:51:00.32\00:51:03.63 We do have a book that we'll be happy to give you, 00:51:03.63\00:51:07.13 it's actually a book that was recently written 00:51:07.13\00:51:09.13 by pastor Doug, and you need to call and ask for it. 00:51:09.13\00:51:12.33 It's "Finding Peace in a World of Worry", 00:51:12.33\00:51:15.40 what to do with trials and difficulties. 00:51:15.40\00:51:17.81 And we'll be happy to send that to you, 00:51:17.81\00:51:19.24 you or anyone who calls an ask, 00:51:19.24\00:51:20.71 just call 800-835-6747, and ask for the book, 00:51:20.71\00:51:24.75 "Finding Peace in a World of Worry". 00:51:24.75\00:51:28.05 And keep doing what you're doing, 00:51:28.05\00:51:29.15 keep listening to the Word of God, 00:51:29.15\00:51:30.95 keep reading, keep studying, 00:51:30.95\00:51:33.05 get connected with a good church, 00:51:33.05\00:51:35.32 and allow the Lord to lead in your life. 00:51:35.32\00:51:37.99 Thanks your call, Anthony. 00:51:37.99\00:51:39.69 - Next we have Richard. 00:51:39.69\00:51:40.96 You're live, Richard, 00:51:40.96\00:51:41.76 welcome to "Bible Answers Live". 00:51:41.76\00:51:44.10 - Hello. - Hi Richard. 00:51:44.10\00:51:46.90 - [Richard] My question is concerning Romans 11:20-29. 00:51:46.90\00:51:51.87 It says, "As concerning the gospel, 00:51:53.01\00:51:55.98 they are enemies for your sakes, 00:51:55.98\00:51:57.81 but as touching the election, 00:51:57.81\00:51:59.78 they're beloved for the Father's sakes. 00:51:59.78\00:52:02.55 For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance." 00:52:02.55\00:52:06.02 My questions about the relationship 00:52:06.02\00:52:08.29 that God has to Israel as a nation. 00:52:08.29\00:52:11.89 - If you look back into the history of Israel, 00:52:12.99\00:52:14.36 it's pretty clear that God loves the nation of Israel. 00:52:14.36\00:52:17.23 Way back, even in Old Testament times, 00:52:17.23\00:52:19.20 during their rebellion against God, 00:52:19.20\00:52:21.60 God would keep reaching out to them 00:52:21.60\00:52:23.04 and keep sending prophet after prophet. 00:52:23.04\00:52:25.01 And of course, Jesus came, 00:52:25.01\00:52:26.01 and Christ's primary, I should say, 00:52:26.01\00:52:29.38 focus was for the Jews, it was for His people. 00:52:29.38\00:52:32.78 And He wept over Jerusalem because they rejected Him, 00:52:32.78\00:52:36.38 their only hope for salvation. 00:52:36.38\00:52:37.99 And God still loves the Jewish people. 00:52:39.09\00:52:41.12 Now as a nation, they have turned their back on God, 00:52:41.12\00:52:44.66 there are many Jews who accepted Christ as their Messiah, 00:52:44.66\00:52:48.73 they of course become part of spiritual Israel. 00:52:48.73\00:52:52.03 I think that before Jesus comes, 00:52:52.03\00:52:53.84 I hope, I believe that there will be a revival 00:52:53.84\00:52:56.14 amongst many of the Jews in Jerusalem, in Israel, 00:52:56.14\00:52:59.71 they'll come to accept Christ as Messiah. 00:52:59.71\00:53:02.31 But as a nation, as a whole, 00:53:02.31\00:53:04.08 their probationary time ended in 34AD 00:53:04.08\00:53:08.18 at the stoning of Stephen 00:53:08.18\00:53:09.78 when they turned their back on Christ. 00:53:09.78\00:53:12.25 But it doesn't mean that individuals can't be saved. 00:53:12.25\00:53:13.66 Paul is still saying that God loves the Jew, 00:53:13.66\00:53:16.73 God loves Israel, and His purpose hasn't changed, 00:53:16.73\00:53:20.96 He still wants to save them. 00:53:20.96\00:53:22.43 And if you look at a nation that has rebounded 00:53:23.73\00:53:26.37 as a result of so much trials and persecution, 00:53:26.37\00:53:29.34 no other nation like Israel has come back 00:53:29.34\00:53:33.58 and seems to be blessed in so many things that they do. 00:53:33.58\00:53:38.31 They faced a lot of persecution, 00:53:38.31\00:53:39.75 'cause the devil hates the Jews, 00:53:39.75\00:53:41.58 but yet God has given them wonderful blessings. 00:53:41.58\00:53:45.22 And we know of Jews that have accepted Christ 00:53:45.22\00:53:49.16 and they're powerful preachers of the Word of truth. 00:53:49.16\00:53:52.19 And so yes, God loves the Jews just as He loves everyone. 00:53:52.19\00:53:55.76 But I think there's still a special work for Jewish people 00:53:55.76\00:53:59.43 who see Jesus as their Savior. 00:53:59.43\00:54:01.20 - Amen. - Alright, 00:54:02.14\00:54:03.51 who do we have next? We have about a minute left. 00:54:03.51\00:54:05.57 - Karen from Oregon. 00:54:05.57\00:54:06.78 Welcome Karen. 00:54:06.78\00:54:07.88 - Hi Karen, we got about a minute. 00:54:07.88\00:54:10.31 - [Karen] I'm wondering about guidelines 00:54:10.31\00:54:12.55 on how to keep my eye on Jesus, 00:54:12.55\00:54:16.42 - Okay. - my focus during 00:54:16.42\00:54:18.09 the day while I work? 00:54:18.09\00:54:19.85 - Alright, good question. 00:54:19.85\00:54:22.09 First of all, you begin by filling your mind 00:54:22.09\00:54:23.89 with spiritual things in the morning, 00:54:23.89\00:54:25.19 so you take time to read the Word, 00:54:25.19\00:54:27.36 but you keep your eye upon Jesus through prayer. 00:54:27.36\00:54:29.96 It's not that you're praying all day long, 00:54:29.96\00:54:32.67 but throughout the day you are sending up little prayers, 00:54:32.67\00:54:35.64 you're turning your thoughts towards heaven, 00:54:35.64\00:54:37.74 and it's easy to get distracted with earthy things. 00:54:37.74\00:54:42.81 You want to keep drawing your mind back. 00:54:43.81\00:54:45.08 And if we pray and say, Lord, 00:54:45.08\00:54:46.55 help me to stay on you, 00:54:46.55\00:54:48.48 the Holy Spirit will convict us and say, 00:54:48.48\00:54:50.79 think about spiritual things, 00:54:50.79\00:54:52.95 or send up a little prayer, and ask for the Holy Spirit 00:54:52.95\00:54:56.76 to help guide you, to remind you. 00:54:56.76\00:54:58.33 And if you hear that prompting, respond to it, 00:54:58.33\00:55:00.86 and God will bless. 00:55:00.86\00:55:02.13 Well friends, you hear the music playing in the background. 00:55:02.13\00:55:04.20 We wanna say goodbye to those 00:55:04.20\00:55:05.93 who are listening on satellite radio, 00:55:05.93\00:55:07.04 but for the rest of you who are listening 00:55:07.04\00:55:08.30 on land-based radio stations, watching on AFTV, 00:55:08.30\00:55:11.57 we are gonna be right back. 00:55:11.57\00:55:13.31 (gentle instrumental music) 00:55:13.31\00:55:15.84 - [Narrator #1] Thank you for listening 00:55:15.84\00:55:16.98 to today's broadcast. 00:55:16.98\00:55:18.35 We hope you understand your Bible even better than before. 00:55:18.35\00:55:22.12 "Bible Answers Live" 00:55:22.12\00:55:23.52 is produced by Amazing Facts International, 00:55:23.52\00:55:26.32 a faith based ministry located in Granite Bay, California. 00:55:26.32\00:55:30.56 - Hello friends, welcome back to "Bible Answers Live". 00:55:31.86\00:55:34.30 For those of you are able to stay with the program, 00:55:34.30\00:55:36.70 we are gonna take some of your email questions 00:55:36.70\00:55:38.90 that you have sent in. 00:55:38.90\00:55:39.70 We wanna thank the many of you 00:55:39.70\00:55:41.77 who have sent in your email question. 00:55:41.77\00:55:43.51 If you would like to send us a question by email, 00:55:43.51\00:55:45.34 just go to the Amazing Facts website 00:55:45.34\00:55:47.04 or you can actually email it to, 00:55:47.04\00:55:49.04 I see BALquestions@amazingfacts.org. 00:55:49.04\00:55:52.55 Just go ahead and email your Bible question 00:55:52.55\00:55:55.02 and we will try and answer as many 00:55:55.02\00:55:56.58 as we can in the next two minutes. 00:55:56.58\00:55:58.15 What do we have, pastor Carlos? 00:55:58.15\00:55:59.52 - Rachel is asking, will our pets be with us in heaven? 00:55:59.52\00:56:04.49 - The Bible says, eye has not see, 00:56:05.59\00:56:07.00 nor ear heard, neither has it entered into the heart of man 00:56:07.00\00:56:09.20 the things that God is preparing for those that love Him. 00:56:09.20\00:56:12.13 Now, whether you're gonna have the exact cat 00:56:12.13\00:56:14.74 or dog in heaven that you had on earth, I don't know. 00:56:14.74\00:56:17.94 But what I do know is that God knows 00:56:17.94\00:56:19.94 the desires of your heart, He knows your animal, 00:56:19.94\00:56:23.95 and if you get to heaven and you see a dog 00:56:23.95\00:56:25.78 that looks just like, you know, 00:56:25.78\00:56:27.12 your dog here on earth, or has similar character traits, 00:56:27.12\00:56:31.05 whatever it is, you will be happy when you get to heaven, 00:56:31.05\00:56:34.19 God will meet your heart's desire. 00:56:34.19\00:56:36.86 - Amen. 00:56:36.86\00:56:38.23 Shelly's asking, Ephesians 4:8 talks about Jesus ascending 00:56:38.23\00:56:40.76 and taking captivity captive, who are the captives? 00:56:40.76\00:56:44.07 - Who are the captives you read about in Ephesians? 00:56:44.07\00:56:46.30 The captives were those who were resurrected 00:56:46.30\00:56:48.30 at the time of Christ's resurrection. 00:56:48.30\00:56:50.04 The Bible tells us that when the Jesus rose from the dead, 00:56:50.04\00:56:52.64 some of the graves opened up and people rose from the dead. 00:56:52.64\00:56:56.31 They are the first fruits of the resurrection 00:56:56.31\00:56:58.41 and they ascended with Jesus to heaven. 00:56:58.41\00:57:00.75 When it says Christ laid captivity captive, 00:57:00.75\00:57:02.92 meaning those who were held captive by death or the grave, 00:57:02.92\00:57:06.22 they were set free. 00:57:06.22\00:57:07.32 Not everyone, the general resurrection 00:57:07.32\00:57:09.86 is at the second coming, but there was a smaller group 00:57:09.86\00:57:12.59 that were resurrected and Jesus took them to heaven. 00:57:12.59\00:57:15.90 - Amen. 00:57:15.90\00:57:17.37 Joseph is wondering if sinfulness is part of human 00:57:17.37\00:57:19.90 nature, why should he suffer eternal damnation 00:57:19.90\00:57:22.80 for something that is of his nature? 00:57:22.80\00:57:24.84 - Okay, well, 00:57:24.84\00:57:26.24 first of all, we don't have to suffer eternal damnation, 00:57:26.24\00:57:28.31 Jesus has made a way of escape. 00:57:28.31\00:57:30.45 And the Bible says, if we accept Jesus 00:57:30.45\00:57:32.41 as our personal Savior and surrendered to Him, 00:57:32.41\00:57:34.75 we can have everlasting life, whoever believes on Him. 00:57:34.75\00:57:38.49 So nobody needs to suffer eternal damnation. 00:57:38.49\00:57:41.32 Now why we are born with the sinful nature? 00:57:41.32\00:57:43.83 Well, that's because of Adam and Eve's sin. 00:57:43.83\00:57:45.83 But despite the fact that we are born with a sinful nature, 00:57:45.83\00:57:49.46 trusting in Jesus, we can gain the victory 00:57:49.46\00:57:51.87 and we can have hope. - Amen. 00:57:51.87\00:57:53.23 - So we can't use that as an excuse and say, well, 00:57:53.23\00:57:56.07 I have this sinful nature 00:57:56.07\00:57:57.54 and I'm not even gonna surrender to Christ. 00:57:57.54\00:58:00.48 I mean, Christ has the power to give us victory, 00:58:00.48\00:58:02.88 if we trust in Him, 00:58:02.88\00:58:03.98 and that surrender is a day by day experience, 00:58:03.98\00:58:06.25 coming to Jesus and surrendering our hearts 00:58:06.25\00:58:08.68 and our lives to Him. 00:58:08.68\00:58:09.75 Then He is able to work within us a work 00:58:09.75\00:58:11.55 that we cannot do for ourself. 00:58:11.55\00:58:13.59 Well friends, thank you so much for joining us 00:58:13.59\00:58:15.26 at "Bible Answers Live". 00:58:15.26\00:58:17.36 Again, we hope to join you next week. 00:58:17.36\00:58:19.36 God bless. 00:58:19.36\00:58:20.96 - [Narrator #1] "Bible Answers Live", 00:58:20.96\00:58:22.86 honest and accurate answers to your Bible questions. 00:58:22.86\00:58:26.84 (gentle instrumental music) 00:58:26.84\00:58:29.77
