Hello, friends, would you like to hear an amazing fact? 00:00:50.15\00:00:54.42 On November 17th, 2012, 00:00:54.42\00:00:57.05 two fishermen took their modest boat 00:00:57.05\00:00:59.19 out on the Pacific Ocean from a small Mexican port 00:00:59.19\00:01:02.02 for a day trip. 00:01:02.02\00:01:03.79 It was the first time that Salvador Alvarenga 00:01:03.79\00:01:06.66 and Ezekiel Cordoba had worked together, 00:01:06.66\00:01:09.46 overtaken by a violent storm, 00:01:09.46\00:01:12.13 they were able to send out one distress signal 00:01:12.13\00:01:14.34 before their radio, GPS, and outboard motor died. 00:01:14.34\00:01:18.71 Driven into the open sea, they drifted for weeks, 00:01:18.71\00:01:22.18 tormented by thirst, eating fish, turtles, and sea birds 00:01:22.18\00:01:25.98 they caught with their bare hands. 00:01:25.98\00:01:28.15 From time to time a thunderstorm would provide 00:01:28.15\00:01:30.22 a little fresh water that they caught in plastic bottles 00:01:30.22\00:01:32.85 and in an oil drum they had retrieved from the sea. 00:01:32.85\00:01:36.62 In this small open boat with no protection 00:01:36.62\00:01:39.43 from the sun or cold, they spent a great deal of time 00:01:39.43\00:01:42.43 huddled together in the insulated fish box 00:01:42.43\00:01:45.03 that was about the size of a refrigerator. 00:01:45.03\00:01:47.87 Gradually sickened by the diet, Cordoba stopped eating, 00:01:47.87\00:01:51.37 and he died after 10 weeks, 00:01:51.37\00:01:53.84 though desperately lonely, Alvarenga refused to give up, 00:01:53.84\00:01:58.35 he often prayed and said that if God would spare him, 00:01:58.35\00:02:01.52 he'd be a better man and more dedicated as a father. 00:02:01.52\00:02:04.55 Then on January 30th, 2014, Alvarenga's tattered boat 00:02:05.92\00:02:10.49 washed up on the Ebon Atoll in the southernmost tip 00:02:11.83\00:02:13.90 of the Marshall Islands, 00:02:13.90\00:02:15.30 6,000 miles from where he had started. 00:02:15.30\00:02:18.80 Adrift for 438 days, Jose Salvador Alvarenga holds 00:02:18.80\00:02:23.87 the record for the longest solo survival at sea. 00:02:25.21\00:02:28.88 Can you imagine that, there's a picture of him there, 00:02:28.88\00:02:31.58 a few days after he had been rescued, 00:02:31.58\00:02:34.25 and they had actually gotten him where he could get up 00:02:34.25\00:02:37.65 on his feet again, when he first washed ashore 00:02:37.65\00:02:39.55 on that island, and I've been to the Marshall Islands, 00:02:39.55\00:02:42.49 have been to Majuro, and that's when he's landing there, 00:02:42.49\00:02:47.56 he just started walking again. 00:02:48.43\00:02:50.00 When he first landed he had to crawl 'cause he hadn't stood, 00:02:50.00\00:02:52.57 and barely stood, I should say, in a year, 00:02:52.57\00:02:56.54 and an incredible story of someone surviving by themselves, 00:02:56.54\00:03:00.18 catching rain water, turtles, 00:03:00.18\00:03:02.68 he'd grab sharks outta the water, 00:03:02.68\00:03:04.68 he'd grab the little fish, he'd eat the barnacles 00:03:04.68\00:03:06.78 off the bottom of the boat, 00:03:06.78\00:03:07.78 it's just an amazing, amazing story. 00:03:07.78\00:03:10.19 But one thing that I didn't share that was in the, 00:03:10.19\00:03:12.85 it's not in the amazing fact I just read, 00:03:12.85\00:03:15.02 is that his friend Ezekiel Cordoba was 00:03:15.02\00:03:18.83 a born-again Christian, Alvarenga was not, 00:03:18.83\00:03:21.76 he was kind of against church, he believed in God, but, 00:03:21.76\00:03:25.97 and before he died, Alvarenga, Cordoba, rather, 00:03:25.97\00:03:31.04 worked on his friend's heart and softened his heart, 00:03:32.37\00:03:35.28 he ended up turning to God and redeemed his life, 00:03:35.28\00:03:40.35 he went back home and became a good father, 00:03:41.48\00:03:42.95 and gave up his wild partying ways, 00:03:42.95\00:03:45.05 and it really was a conversion experience for him. 00:03:45.05\00:03:47.62 So, he was rescued in more than one way, 00:03:48.79\00:03:51.29 and I think we've got an offer that. 00:03:53.46\00:03:55.70 There's a verse, friends, 00:03:55.70\00:03:56.93 I always like to put in a Bible verse 00:03:56.93\00:03:58.17 that goes along with our fact. 00:03:58.17\00:03:59.73 Psalm 107:23-24, "Those who go down to the sea in the ships, 00:03:59.73\00:04:04.44 who do business on the great waters, 00:04:05.57\00:04:07.41 they see the works of the Lord 00:04:07.41\00:04:09.11 and His wonders in the deep." 00:04:09.11\00:04:11.91 - Well, he sure got to see the wonders of the deep 00:04:11.91\00:04:14.85 quite a period of time. 00:04:14.85\00:04:16.12 It is amazing story of just determination, 00:04:16.12\00:04:19.99 doubtless, his prayers made a difference, 00:04:19.99\00:04:22.16 'cause he was praying near the end, 00:04:22.16\00:04:23.63 he realized that his only help was God, 00:04:23.63\00:04:26.49 and yet for him to survive that long, 00:04:26.49\00:04:29.00 not only just living on whatever he could find, 00:04:29.00\00:04:31.00 the fish and drinking the rain water, 00:04:31.00\00:04:33.00 but just being by himself in the middle of the ocean 00:04:33.00\00:04:35.67 for so long, you would think somebody would give up, 00:04:35.67\00:04:38.91 but he just refused to give up- 00:04:38.91\00:04:40.61 - Yeah, I could go on and on, it's quite a story, 00:04:40.61\00:04:42.58 but there were about 20 times that tankers went by 00:04:42.58\00:04:46.38 and he would wave and they'd wave back, 00:04:46.38\00:04:48.52 they just thought he was out fishing, 00:04:48.52\00:04:49.88 he was trying to get rescued, and he'd see planes fly over 00:04:49.88\00:04:53.19 and tankers go by, and they just didn't stop, 00:04:53.19\00:04:55.72 and so then he'd get real discouraged for a while. 00:04:55.72\00:04:57.66 - Sure, absolutely. 00:04:57.66\00:04:59.19 Well, we do have a free offer, Pastor Doug, 00:04:59.19\00:05:01.00 that talks about a much more important rescue, 00:05:01.00\00:05:04.13 and that is called "Rescue From Certain Death," 00:05:04.13\00:05:06.40 "Saved From Certain Death," that is the free offer, 00:05:06.40\00:05:09.20 it talks about salvation. 00:05:09.20\00:05:10.54 I mean, whatever happens here on this earth, 00:05:10.54\00:05:12.51 if we are saved from eternal destruction, 00:05:12.51\00:05:16.31 we have hope, we have peace, and so that's the free offer. 00:05:16.31\00:05:18.55 How can we have the assurance of salvation, 00:05:18.55\00:05:20.52 it's called "Saved From Certain Death," to receive it, 00:05:20.52\00:05:23.39 all you need to do is call the resource number, 00:05:23.39\00:05:25.15 that's 800-835-6747 and ask for offer number 109. 00:05:25.15\00:05:30.13 Again, the number to call is 800-835-6747, 00:05:31.59\00:05:36.00 and you can ask for the gift, 00:05:36.00\00:05:37.60 it's called "Saved From Certain Death," 00:05:37.60\00:05:39.33 we'll be happy to send it to anyone in North America, 00:05:39.33\00:05:41.97 if you're outside of North America, 00:05:41.97\00:05:43.37 we encourage you to go to the Amazing Facts website, 00:05:43.37\00:05:45.61 just amazingfacts.org, 00:05:45.61\00:05:47.78 and you can actually read the lesson there for free. 00:05:47.78\00:05:50.25 You can enroll in the free Amazing Facts online course, 00:05:50.25\00:05:53.62 and I know many folks have been blessed 00:05:53.62\00:05:55.12 by going through those series of lessons, 00:05:55.12\00:05:57.15 and that's all available at amazingfacts.org. 00:05:57.15\00:06:00.46 Well, Pastor Doug, We've got some folks who have called in 00:06:00.46\00:06:02.32 with their Bible questions, 00:06:02.32\00:06:03.49 if you have a Bible-related question, 00:06:03.49\00:06:05.23 the number to call, again, is 800-463-7297. 00:06:05.23\00:06:10.10 Again, that's 800-463-7297, that is the phone line 00:06:10.10\00:06:13.97 to our studio with your Bible question. 00:06:13.97\00:06:16.91 Our first call of this evening is Diane, 00:06:16.91\00:06:18.51 listening in British Columbia. 00:06:18.51\00:06:20.31 Diane, welcome to the program. 00:06:20.31\00:06:22.24 - [Diane] Thank you, yes. 00:06:22.24\00:06:23.35 I have a question, I have a friend 00:06:23.35\00:06:25.41 who's just picking up the Bible 00:06:25.41\00:06:27.18 and she's reading through the Old Testament, 00:06:27.18\00:06:29.85 and she's really struggling with all of God's violence 00:06:29.85\00:06:33.39 that's talked about in the Old Testament, 00:06:33.39\00:06:35.79 and it's making her question how God can be love, 00:06:35.79\00:06:39.29 and I'm just wondering where do I start by helping her 00:06:39.29\00:06:41.86 to see the love of God when she's reading this? 00:06:41.86\00:06:45.20 - Well, one really important place to direct her 00:06:45.20\00:06:47.50 is the teachings of Jesus. 00:06:47.50\00:06:49.10 He said, "If you've seen Me, you've seen the Father, 00:06:49.10\00:06:52.41 so she wants to understand something 00:06:52.41\00:06:54.04 about what God is like, the God in the Old Testament 00:06:54.04\00:06:57.21 is the same God that you see in Jesus, and God is love, 00:06:57.21\00:07:01.82 this is what the apostles saw, 00:07:01.82\00:07:03.42 the love and the compassion of Jesus. 00:07:03.42\00:07:05.59 Now, in the Old Testament, you're often reading 00:07:05.59\00:07:08.02 about God leading a nation 00:07:08.02\00:07:09.89 and those nations were often warring, 00:07:09.89\00:07:12.46 and so God, not wanting His people to be annihilated, 00:07:12.46\00:07:15.46 they had to defend themselves. 00:07:15.46\00:07:17.47 God, He does not want anyone to die, 00:07:17.47\00:07:21.24 the Bible tells us the Lord does not want anyone to perish, 00:07:21.24\00:07:24.71 and in the Book of Ezekiel it says, 00:07:24.71\00:07:26.68 "Turn ye, turn ye, why will you die?" 00:07:26.68\00:07:29.94 God has no pleasure in the death of the wicked, 00:07:29.94\00:07:32.48 but because of sin in the world, 00:07:32.48\00:07:33.62 and because there was sinful people, 00:07:33.62\00:07:34.98 sometimes there was war and sometimes there was violence, 00:07:34.98\00:07:38.79 and I know some people, Pastor, 00:07:38.79\00:07:40.82 will struggle with just the idea of the sacrificial system, 00:07:40.82\00:07:43.99 why would these innocent animals die? 00:07:43.99\00:07:46.33 And it tells us something about the deadly nature of sin. 00:07:46.33\00:07:49.70 - And despite the violence and the war 00:07:49.70\00:07:51.87 that you do read about in the Old Testament, 00:07:51.87\00:07:54.04 'cause it's talking about different kingdoms, 00:07:54.04\00:07:55.60 you also get amazing revelations of God's love, 00:07:55.60\00:07:58.67 His mercy, His long suffering with Israel, 00:07:58.67\00:08:01.61 and His protection. 00:08:01.61\00:08:02.71 I'm just thinking the children of Israel, 00:08:02.71\00:08:03.71 as they wandered through the wilderness, 00:08:03.71\00:08:05.11 how God fed them with the special food from heaven, 00:08:05.11\00:08:08.42 how He gave them water from the rock, 00:08:08.42\00:08:10.05 how that God forgave them time and time again 00:08:10.05\00:08:12.52 from their rebelliousness 00:08:12.52\00:08:14.19 and throughout the history of Israel, 00:08:14.19\00:08:16.12 you can see how God's mercy was there 00:08:16.12\00:08:18.53 and how He forgave them. 00:08:18.53\00:08:20.33 - Yep, amen. 00:08:20.33\00:08:21.80 - All right, well, thanks for your call, Diane. 00:08:21.80\00:08:23.00 We've got Lee listening in North Carolina. 00:08:23.00\00:08:25.33 Lee, welcome to the program. 00:08:26.13\00:08:27.67 - [Lee] Oh, hi, pastors, thank you so much 00:08:28.70\00:08:30.21 for taking my call. 00:08:30.21\00:08:30.94 - Yeah. - My question is 00:08:30.94\00:08:32.01 about Genesis, and actually the Sabbath. 00:08:32.01\00:08:36.88 Chapter 2 in Genesis, right? 00:08:36.88\00:08:38.58 "And God sanctified the day," and then in Exodus you have 00:08:38.58\00:08:42.22 the Ten Commandments where, of course, 00:08:42.22\00:08:44.39 the Sabbath is the Fourth. 00:08:44.39\00:08:47.12 My question is how did God communicate to the Jews 00:08:47.12\00:08:52.19 about the Sabbath? 00:08:52.86\00:08:54.20 Because Noah wasn't a Jew, did he know about the Sabbath? 00:08:54.20\00:08:57.90 Did he keep the Sabbath? 00:08:57.90\00:08:59.23 How did God communicate that before the actual laws? 00:08:59.23\00:09:02.77 - Yeah, you can find where, 00:09:02.77\00:09:03.87 and Pastor Ross might find the reference, 00:09:03.87\00:09:06.01 where it talks about Abraham. 00:09:06.01\00:09:07.41 Now, Abraham's not a Jew, 00:09:07.41\00:09:08.98 Abraham lived before they ever went through the Exodus 00:09:10.35\00:09:12.21 and came to Mount Sinai, 00:09:12.21\00:09:13.58 and the Bible says, "Abraham kept my laws, my statutes, 00:09:13.58\00:09:16.69 and my judgements," 00:09:16.69\00:09:18.29 and I don't remember if that's Genesis 20. 00:09:18.29\00:09:20.89 - Genesis 26:25. - 26, okay. 00:09:20.89\00:09:22.82 You wanna read the whole verse there? 00:09:22.82\00:09:24.19 - Yeah, it says, speaking of Abraham, "He obeyed my voice, 00:09:24.19\00:09:26.46 kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws." 00:09:26.46\00:09:29.96 - So God had a law, the Bible tells us 00:09:29.96\00:09:32.87 that God told Cain that sin was at the door 00:09:32.87\00:09:36.50 when he murdered his brother, that was clearly a sin, 00:09:36.50\00:09:39.77 and God told Joseph that adultery would be a sin 00:09:39.77\00:09:43.48 when Potiphar's wife tempted him, 00:09:43.48\00:09:45.51 and before the children of Israel got to Mount Sinai, 00:09:45.51\00:09:49.25 the bread from heaven would rain down six days a week, 00:09:49.25\00:09:52.99 but there'd be none on the seventh day of the week, 00:09:52.99\00:09:54.76 and God said, "This is the Sabbath." 00:09:54.76\00:09:56.52 So I do believe when Noah was building the ark, 00:09:56.52\00:09:59.76 he took off every Sabbath day, 00:09:59.76\00:10:01.56 I don't think he worked seven days a week, 00:10:01.56\00:10:03.63 and that they knew about that day of rest. 00:10:03.63\00:10:06.57 Man has always needed that rest physically, 00:10:06.57\00:10:09.20 and as our quality time with God, 00:10:09.20\00:10:11.71 that's why Jesus said the Sabbath was made for man 00:10:11.71\00:10:14.94 and the word there, man, is, it's not Jew, 00:10:14.94\00:10:16.88 it's anthropos, it means humanity. 00:10:16.88\00:10:19.61 So God gave Adam and Eve the Sabbath back in the garden 00:10:19.61\00:10:22.28 and they passed it on, faithful, kept it, 00:10:22.28\00:10:24.52 those unfaithful did not keep it, 00:10:24.52\00:10:26.72 as with the other commandments. 00:10:26.72\00:10:28.39 - You know, we do have a study guide that talks about that, 00:10:28.39\00:10:30.33 it's called "The Lost Day of History," 00:10:30.33\00:10:32.13 and it goes back into the history of the Sabbath 00:10:32.13\00:10:34.30 and how that was established at creation. 00:10:34.30\00:10:37.00 If you'd like to learn more about that, 00:10:37.00\00:10:38.30 the number to call is 800-835-6747, 00:10:38.30\00:10:41.80 and again, you can ask for that free offer, 00:10:41.80\00:10:43.51 it's called "The Lost Day of History," 00:10:43.51\00:10:45.64 we'll be happy to send that to anyone who calls and asks, 00:10:45.64\00:10:48.01 it's 800-835-6747. 00:10:48.01\00:10:51.51 Thanks for your call, Lee. 00:10:51.51\00:10:52.71 We've got Maya listening from North Dakota. 00:10:52.71\00:10:56.82 Maya, welcome to the program. 00:10:56.82\00:10:58.25 - [Maya] Okay, so my question is, 00:10:59.85\00:11:01.42 I've been studying Ezekiel, 00:11:01.42\00:11:03.53 and at the end of Ezekiel, 00:11:03.53\00:11:05.96 God takes him in a vision 00:11:05.96\00:11:08.26 and the angels measuring the sanctuary on earth, 00:11:08.26\00:11:13.34 the heaven sanctuary, or the new Jerusalem? 00:11:14.64\00:11:17.61 I'm confused on what's going on at the end of Ezekiel. 00:11:17.61\00:11:21.78 - All right, Ezekiel is one of the four apocalyptic prophets 00:11:21.78\00:11:26.38 in the Bible, meaning that God spoke to them 00:11:26.38\00:11:29.15 in these visions that were full of symbols, 00:11:29.15\00:11:31.85 and not always to be taken literally. 00:11:31.85\00:11:34.26 It's like when you get to Revelation, 00:11:34.26\00:11:35.79 it talks about a woman riding a beast with seven heads, 00:11:35.79\00:11:38.63 well, that's not real, those symbols, 00:11:38.63\00:11:41.36 the woman represents a church, there it's a fallen church. 00:11:41.36\00:11:45.63 In Ezekiel, the temple of God, the Bible says, what? 00:11:45.63\00:11:48.77 "Don't you know that you are the temple of God?" 00:11:48.77\00:11:51.31 Is what Paul tells us. 00:11:51.31\00:11:52.74 And so when a Ezekiel is measuring the temple, it's also, 00:11:52.74\00:11:55.98 there's a measuring of the temple in Revelation 00:11:55.98\00:11:58.21 that is referring back to Ezekiel, 00:11:58.21\00:12:00.48 and it's talking about, really, a judgment of God's people. 00:12:00.48\00:12:04.55 So all these things, it's talking about 00:12:04.55\00:12:06.29 that beautiful temple in Ezekiel, 00:12:06.29\00:12:08.79 I think are in symbolic language. 00:12:08.79\00:12:11.43 Yeah, 'cause there's no time in history, 00:12:11.43\00:12:13.83 in Jewish history, or to the present time, 00:12:13.83\00:12:16.30 when that temple was physically built. 00:12:16.30\00:12:18.23 First of all, it was huge, 00:12:18.23\00:12:19.60 it's much bigger than when they rebuilt the temple, 00:12:19.60\00:12:21.87 and then you read about the river and he says, 00:12:21.87\00:12:25.51 he goes into this river that's a mile long 00:12:25.51\00:12:28.91 and a mile wide, I should say, and halfway in, 00:12:28.91\00:12:33.31 he's only up to his thighs, it's this huge river, 00:12:35.35\00:12:37.95 and then he talks about the trees by the river 00:12:37.95\00:12:40.52 continually bear fruit, and their leaves are for healing, 00:12:41.89\00:12:44.89 or for medicine. 00:12:44.89\00:12:45.99 Well, that's taken from Revelation, 00:12:45.99\00:12:47.86 where it says the leaves of the tree of life 00:12:47.86\00:12:50.30 are for the healing of the nation. 00:12:50.30\00:12:51.53 So a lot of parallels between Ezekiel, 00:12:51.53\00:12:54.04 especially to the last chapters there, and Revelation, 00:12:54.04\00:12:57.41 they should probably be studied together. 00:12:57.41\00:12:59.24 - That's right, so one might even understand 00:12:59.24\00:13:00.84 that is to be a symbolic representation of the sanctuary 00:13:00.84\00:13:05.31 in the new earth, in the new Jerusalem that we read about, 00:13:05.31\00:13:08.62 where the river is flowing forth, the river of life 00:13:08.62\00:13:10.92 that flows out. 00:13:10.92\00:13:11.99 So there's some parallels there 00:13:11.99\00:13:13.15 in that study with Revelation. 00:13:13.15\00:13:14.89 Thanks for your call. 00:13:14.89\00:13:15.92 We've got Caleb listening in New York. 00:13:15.92\00:13:17.73 Caleb, welcome to the program. 00:13:17.73\00:13:19.29 - [Caleb] Hello, Pastor Ross and Pastor Doug, 00:13:20.66\00:13:22.73 thank you so much for everything. 00:13:22.73\00:13:24.20 - Thank you for calling. 00:13:24.20\00:13:25.27 - [Caleb] Thank you for picking up. 00:13:25.27\00:13:26.33 Two questions, I wanna know if Daniel 11 00:13:26.33\00:13:29.04 has any correlation with Russia, and my other question is, 00:13:29.04\00:13:32.71 is that I live with one of my friends, 00:13:32.71\00:13:34.91 I have a lot of friends that aren't Christians and one time, 00:13:34.91\00:13:39.35 not too long ago, I had a discussion with my friends, 00:13:39.35\00:13:42.15 I didn't wanna get to, 00:13:42.15\00:13:43.32 he was very passionate about what he believes, 00:13:44.42\00:13:46.42 but I felt like I didn't say enough to defend God. 00:13:46.42\00:13:50.26 Do you think God's gonna punish me for that? 00:13:50.26\00:13:52.43 'Cause I was just, I said, told him the truth, 00:13:52.43\00:13:56.73 but I wasn't very forward about it. 00:13:56.73\00:14:01.70 - Yeah. - I think I was trying 00:14:02.60\00:14:03.27 to avoid an argument. 00:14:03.27\00:14:04.34 Do you think God's gonna punish me for that? 00:14:04.34\00:14:06.24 - I know exactly how you feel, it's often true, 00:14:06.24\00:14:09.18 and don't be discouraged. 00:14:09.18\00:14:10.58 I think Pastor Ross will say that there's probably times 00:14:10.58\00:14:13.15 that he also has thought, after talking to someone 00:14:13.15\00:14:15.82 about the Lord, "Did I say the right thing? 00:14:15.82\00:14:17.19 Did I say enough? 00:14:17.19\00:14:17.99 Did I miss an opportunity?" 00:14:17.99\00:14:19.72 That happens every day, and if we do miss an opportunity 00:14:19.72\00:14:23.96 or say something wrong, or don't say enough, 00:14:23.96\00:14:26.83 and sometimes I've been ashamed at being ashamed, 00:14:26.83\00:14:30.57 sharing my faith. 00:14:30.57\00:14:32.17 You ask God to forgive you and you move on. 00:14:32.17\00:14:34.50 I mean, even Peter, he boldly denied Christ 00:14:34.50\00:14:37.07 and Jesus forgave him. 00:14:37.07\00:14:38.64 So, it's wrong, we should pray that God helps us 00:14:38.64\00:14:41.98 to be faithful, and courageous, and accurate, and bold, 00:14:41.98\00:14:45.55 even Paul says pray for boldness 00:14:45.55\00:14:47.45 because sometimes we're intimidated to be timid, 00:14:47.45\00:14:50.32 but don't be discouraged if that happens, 00:14:51.32\00:14:53.56 'cause I think every believer has times where you think, 00:14:53.56\00:14:56.76 "Oh, I wish I'd done a better job." 00:14:56.76\00:14:58.66 - Does that help, Caleb? 00:15:00.16\00:15:01.83 - Oh, now you asked about, 00:15:01.83\00:15:03.20 we never did answer your question about Daniel 11. 00:15:03.20\00:15:06.07 Daniel 11 does cover the panorama of history 00:15:06.07\00:15:10.54 from the time of, I guess it's from Persia to, 00:15:10.54\00:15:14.91 'cause Babylon's already fallen. 00:15:14.91\00:15:17.61 So it covers the time of history from Persia 00:15:17.61\00:15:20.35 to the second coming, 00:15:20.35\00:15:22.28 and so, yeah, it's got Michael standing up 00:15:22.28\00:15:24.25 in the great final time of trouble in the resurrection, 00:15:24.25\00:15:26.52 so it covers that time span. 00:15:26.52\00:15:28.46 I don't think there's any verses 00:15:28.46\00:15:29.76 that particularly mention the battle 00:15:29.76\00:15:33.36 that's going on in Russia with Ukraine right now. 00:15:33.36\00:15:35.86 It does talk about a number of wars, 00:15:37.00\00:15:38.57 but I don't know of anything 00:15:38.57\00:15:39.67 that would allude to that in Daniel 11. 00:15:39.67\00:15:40.97 - Mm-hm, yeah, I think Daniel, especially Daniel 9, 11, 00:15:40.97\00:15:44.97 you've got some time periods, well, Daniel 11 too. 00:15:44.97\00:15:47.88 It's covering a lot, 00:15:49.24\00:15:50.35 much larger time period than just a few years, 00:15:50.35\00:15:52.58 talking about hundreds of years, 00:15:52.58\00:15:53.75 thousands of years, 00:15:53.75\00:15:54.88 that's been reviewed within that chapter. 00:15:54.88\00:15:56.99 - Kinda sweeping overview, very quick. 00:15:56.99\00:15:58.92 - Mm-hm. 00:15:58.92\00:16:00.09 All right, well, thanks for your call, Caleb. 00:16:00.09\00:16:01.12 We've got Aaron listening in New York. 00:16:01.12\00:16:02.62 Aaron, welcome to the program. 00:16:02.62\00:16:04.59 - [Aaron] Hello pastors, Thank you for taking my call. 00:16:04.59\00:16:07.46 - Thank you for calling. 00:16:07.46\00:16:08.66 - [Aaron] My question is, 00:16:08.66\00:16:10.00 was Noah and his three sons alive 00:16:10.87\00:16:12.97 when the Tower of Babel was being built? 00:16:12.97\00:16:17.07 - Good question, as far as Noah, let me think. 00:16:17.07\00:16:20.61 I think after the flood he still lives about 300 years, 00:16:20.61\00:16:24.78 so there's a good chance, 00:16:24.78\00:16:26.82 definitely his sons were still alive 00:16:26.82\00:16:29.32 because Shem lived all the way through the time of Abraham, 00:16:29.32\00:16:33.86 and the Tower of Babel had been considerably before that. 00:16:35.19\00:16:39.53 So, you go from, it's not long after Shem 00:16:39.53\00:16:42.20 that you end up with Terah and Aaron, 00:16:42.20\00:16:44.77 the parents and brother of Abraham, 00:16:44.77\00:16:47.77 so it doesn't necessarily mean that Noah had moved 00:16:49.14\00:16:54.14 to the Mesopotamian valley where they built the tower, 00:16:54.14\00:16:57.25 so Noah may have been alive. 00:16:57.25\00:16:58.88 A lot of people went down there 00:16:58.88\00:17:00.05 and they congregated in the land of Sinar, 00:17:00.05\00:17:04.99 and that's where they built the Tower of Babel, 00:17:06.32\00:17:07.69 not everybody went, Noah may have stayed somewhere 00:17:07.69\00:17:09.82 in the foothills of Ararat, 00:17:09.82\00:17:11.29 where the ark settled. 00:17:11.29\00:17:12.96 - Mm-hm, we do have a interesting timeline 00:17:12.96\00:17:15.90 that's available online, 00:17:15.90\00:17:17.27 it's a website that Amazing Facts has, Bible Timeline 00:17:17.27\00:17:20.67 and if you were to look that up, 00:17:20.67\00:17:22.24 you could actually page through it 00:17:22.24\00:17:23.77 and you can see the time of Noah, 00:17:23.77\00:17:25.87 and then see who was alive at the time, 00:17:25.87\00:17:28.28 and after that, and when Noah died, and what was happening, 00:17:28.28\00:17:30.95 it's just very informative, 00:17:30.95\00:17:32.05 so you might wanna take a look at that. 00:17:32.05\00:17:33.52 Just go to the Amazing Facts website. 00:17:33.52\00:17:36.12 - I think it's biblehistory.com 00:17:36.12\00:17:37.52 - Bible History, is that what it is? 00:17:37.52\00:17:39.52 - Yeah, I'm looking it up and I think so. 00:17:39.52\00:17:41.36 - Okay, yes, we have a number of websites, friends, 00:17:41.36\00:17:44.03 if you're wondering about that, 00:17:44.03\00:17:45.33 but this is one that Amazing Facts put together 00:17:45.33\00:17:47.40 that is a great resource 00:17:47.40\00:17:48.86 for people wanting to study the Bible, 00:17:48.86\00:17:50.87 get an idea of the timelines, biblehistory.com or.org, 00:17:50.87\00:17:55.80 and take a look at that, got a lot of good information. 00:17:55.80\00:17:59.11 We've got Lance listening from Texas. 00:17:59.11\00:18:00.74 Lance, welcome to the program. 00:18:00.74\00:18:02.84 - [Lance] Yeah, I know that Ellen White, 00:18:02.84\00:18:06.05 she wrote a prophecy, and it pretty much says 00:18:06.05\00:18:09.75 that there's going to be people alive from her time 00:18:09.75\00:18:14.46 for the second coming of Christ, and if that's the case, 00:18:16.32\00:18:19.63 I guess then it must be really close 00:18:20.70\00:18:22.86 'cause what's the longest living person ever 00:18:22.86\00:18:26.13 for this modern era? 00:18:26.13\00:18:27.80 It's like 122 years, 00:18:27.80\00:18:29.70 so I would like to know what's your take on that. 00:18:29.70\00:18:32.24 - Yeah, well, I think I know what you're talking about. 00:18:33.61\00:18:35.61 She made there's one statement 00:18:35.61\00:18:37.38 in the book "Prophets and Kings," 00:18:37.38\00:18:38.98 where she talks about in the days of Queen Esther, 00:18:38.98\00:18:41.98 there was a law that all of God's people 00:18:41.98\00:18:45.42 had to worship a certain way or they were gonna be killed, 00:18:45.42\00:18:47.62 and she said, "There's some living on the earth today 00:18:47.62\00:18:50.29 that will see those words fulfilled." 00:18:50.29\00:18:53.09 Well, there already have been some people 00:18:53.09\00:18:54.83 that have lived to see the words fulfilled, 00:18:54.83\00:18:57.30 that if you didn't worship a certain way, you'd be killed. 00:18:57.30\00:18:59.50 There are people who are killed for their faith 00:18:59.50\00:19:01.10 all the time. 00:19:01.10\00:19:02.74 If she was talking specifically 00:19:02.74\00:19:04.31 about the second coming there and the final events, 00:19:04.31\00:19:08.48 she could have been talking in what you call hyperbole, 00:19:11.01\00:19:13.75 and what I mean by that is, Paul, for instance, said, 00:19:13.75\00:19:16.75 "The gospel's been preached in all the world," 00:19:17.99\00:19:20.86 well, he meant in the Roman empire. 00:19:20.86\00:19:24.33 And so when she made a statement like that, 00:19:25.43\00:19:27.76 if she's speaking in hyperbole, 00:19:27.76\00:19:29.03 she means we're really near the end. 00:19:29.03\00:19:31.23 - Something else to bear in mind, 00:19:31.23\00:19:32.60 whenever you read the New Testament and you read, 00:19:32.60\00:19:34.44 for example, Paul, 00:19:34.44\00:19:35.84 he speaks of being alive at the second coming of Christ, 00:19:35.84\00:19:38.67 it says, "We who are alive and remain 00:19:38.67\00:19:40.31 until the coming of the Lord will be caught up to meet them, 00:19:40.31\00:19:42.58 and the dead in Christ will rise first." 00:19:42.58\00:19:44.85 The prophet in vision never saw himself 00:19:44.85\00:19:47.02 coming up amongst those who are resurrected, 00:19:47.02\00:19:49.08 they always see themself amongst those who are alive 00:19:49.08\00:19:51.45 at the second coming of Christ, 00:19:51.45\00:19:52.75 that doesn't mean, of course, that Paul was wrong 00:19:52.75\00:19:55.96 in saying that we who are alive and remain 00:19:55.96\00:19:58.09 until the coming of the Lord, but in vision, 00:19:58.09\00:19:59.96 he always saw himself amongst those who were saved. 00:19:59.96\00:20:02.30 - And they called it the blessed hope. 00:20:02.30\00:20:03.93 - Mm-hm. 00:20:03.93\00:20:05.07 So you wanna also bear that in mind 00:20:05.07\00:20:06.43 as you study through these different prophetic passages 00:20:06.43\00:20:09.20 of the Bible. 00:20:09.20\00:20:10.57 All right, well, thanks for your call, Lance. 00:20:10.57\00:20:11.84 We've got Jerry listening in Arizona. 00:20:11.84\00:20:13.64 Jerry, welcome to the program. 00:20:13.64\00:20:15.21 - [Jerry] Thank you, pastors, for taking my call. 00:20:16.64\00:20:19.15 So, my question is in the gospels, 00:20:20.25\00:20:23.12 when it refers to Jesus's resurrection, 00:20:23.12\00:20:25.72 they all say on the first day of the week, 00:20:25.72\00:20:28.42 well, I kinda discovered that the we word week 00:20:28.42\00:20:31.66 is actually plural in Greek, and it's the word for Sabbath, 00:20:31.66\00:20:35.56 which some people talk about referring 00:20:36.77\00:20:38.67 the beginning of the seven weeks to Pentecost, 00:20:38.67\00:20:41.87 so, I'm just wondering how people can tie this to worship. 00:20:41.87\00:20:46.84 - Yeah, well, there's no question that Jesus rose 00:20:48.61\00:20:52.21 on what would be called the first day of the week or Sunday, 00:20:52.21\00:20:55.88 because it says after the Sabbath was passed. 00:20:55.88\00:20:59.69 Well, what do you have after the Sabbath? 00:20:59.69\00:21:01.29 If the Sabbath is the seventh day, 00:21:01.29\00:21:03.02 and there's only seven days in the week, 00:21:03.02\00:21:04.46 after the Sabbath is past, 00:21:04.46\00:21:05.83 all you've got left is the first day, 00:21:05.83\00:21:08.23 and so Jesus clearly rose very early in the morning 00:21:08.23\00:21:13.13 in what you would call the first day of the week. 00:21:13.13\00:21:15.04 Now, I don't think that initiates Sunday 00:21:15.04\00:21:18.11 as a new day of worship. 00:21:18.11\00:21:19.44 There's no command in the Bible anywhere 00:21:20.51\00:21:22.44 that we are to remember the first day or Sunday 00:21:22.44\00:21:24.88 as the new Sabbath or the Lord's day. 00:21:24.88\00:21:27.68 - Well, if you use that argument, Pastor, again, 00:21:27.68\00:21:29.12 there are some folks who say we got on a Sunday 00:21:29.12\00:21:32.02 because that's the day of the resurrection. 00:21:32.02\00:21:33.52 Well, what is more important? 00:21:33.52\00:21:35.32 His death on Calvary, 00:21:35.32\00:21:36.69 which happened on a Friday, or His resurrection on Sunday? 00:21:36.69\00:21:39.96 Both are equally important, 00:21:39.96\00:21:41.36 without His substitutionary death 00:21:41.36\00:21:43.20 there'd be no hope for resurrection, 00:21:43.20\00:21:44.93 so, just because those are historical facts 00:21:44.93\00:21:47.77 and those are the days that those things occurred, 00:21:47.77\00:21:49.80 it doesn't now somehow make it a new day of worship. 00:21:49.80\00:21:53.21 - Yeah, yeah, there's no reason to change the old day, 00:21:53.21\00:21:55.68 God didn't make a mistake- 00:21:55.68\00:21:56.98 - Right. 00:21:56.98\00:21:58.28 - Ten Commandments are written in stone 00:21:58.28\00:22:00.32 and they're not multiple choice. 00:22:00.32\00:22:02.48 - You know, we did mention a free offer a little while ago, 00:22:02.48\00:22:04.72 it's called "The Lost Day of History," 00:22:04.72\00:22:06.32 and again, we wanna encourage those, 00:22:06.32\00:22:07.62 if you've never read what the Bible has to say 00:22:07.62\00:22:09.82 about the Sabbath and the blessings of the Sabbath, 00:22:09.82\00:22:12.89 call and ask for that, we'll be happy to send it to you. 00:22:12.89\00:22:14.73 The number to call is 800-835-6747, and again, 00:22:14.73\00:22:18.73 you can ask for that free offer, 00:22:18.73\00:22:20.34 it's called "The Lost Day in History," 00:22:20.34\00:22:23.30 and if you have a Bible question, we have a few lines 00:22:23.30\00:22:25.71 open, the number to call is 800-463-7297, 00:22:25.71\00:22:29.91 that's 800-463-7297. 00:22:29.91\00:22:34.02 Next call that we have is Israel listening from Washington. 00:22:34.02\00:22:37.95 Israel, welcome to the program. 00:22:37.95\00:22:39.55 - [Israel] How you doing? 00:22:40.92\00:22:41.79 How you doing, Doug? 00:22:41.79\00:22:42.82 - Doing good, thanks for calling. 00:22:42.82\00:22:44.76 - [Israel] So my question is, 00:22:45.69\00:22:47.23 when God delivered the Israelites from slavery in 00:22:47.23\00:22:52.17 Egypt, from my understanding, He basically took 'em on a crusade, 00:22:53.94\00:22:57.57 wiping out every ungodly people 00:22:57.57\00:23:01.08 by killing every man, woman, and child that was ungodly 00:23:01.08\00:23:04.75 until they got to the promised land, 00:23:04.75\00:23:07.32 so if I choose to fight for my country, 00:23:07.32\00:23:11.45 and let's say I go to war and I'm gonna have to kill, 00:23:11.45\00:23:14.99 if these people are ungodly, 00:23:14.99\00:23:17.06 am I sinning by choosing to take that route? 00:23:18.13\00:23:21.53 - Yeah, I think it would be wrong, 00:23:24.30\00:23:27.04 Jesus talks about Christians not killing, 00:23:27.04\00:23:32.11 He came, He said, "I did not come to destroy men's lives, 00:23:33.51\00:23:34.58 but to save them," and just to be clear, 00:23:34.58\00:23:37.11 the children of Israel, first of all, in the wilderness, 00:23:37.11\00:23:39.21 the only ones that they fought against and annihilated 00:23:39.21\00:23:41.98 were the Amalekites or they fought against, 00:23:41.98\00:23:44.12 they didn't even annihilate them, 00:23:44.12\00:23:45.22 then there were some pagan nations 00:23:45.22\00:23:47.52 that were bent on destroying Israel, 00:23:47.52\00:23:51.03 and so they were told to fight against them. 00:23:51.03\00:23:53.90 The interpersonal laws of the Christian 00:23:55.46\00:23:58.17 are different from civil laws, 00:23:58.17\00:24:01.10 God's laws, or even national laws, 00:24:01.10\00:24:03.67 God's laws regarding civil things 00:24:03.67\00:24:06.64 was under what they call a theocracy, 00:24:06.64\00:24:09.24 we are not under a theocracy that is led by God, 00:24:10.51\00:24:13.58 we're under a democracy that's led by faulty humans, 00:24:13.58\00:24:18.39 and so I think that a person needs to think long and hard 00:24:18.39\00:24:22.12 about going to war and taking up arms to shoot a person. 00:24:22.12\00:24:25.53 Now, don't misunderstand, 00:24:25.53\00:24:27.83 I have tremendous respect for young men and women, 00:24:27.83\00:24:32.70 two of them being, 00:24:32.70\00:24:34.40 I've got a son and daughter that were in the service, 00:24:34.40\00:24:37.04 I'm so thankful the freedoms that they defend, 00:24:37.04\00:24:39.84 but I think as a Christian you need to be very careful 00:24:39.84\00:24:42.44 about saying that I'm gonna take up arms. 00:24:42.44\00:24:45.51 I think if you're gonna defend your country, 00:24:45.51\00:24:47.02 try and find some area where you can do it, 00:24:47.02\00:24:49.42 where maybe you could help save a life 00:24:49.42\00:24:52.72 or do it in a medical field or something. 00:24:52.72\00:24:55.12 - Well, pastor, like, there are examples, 00:24:55.12\00:24:56.73 you mentioned that Israel at the time, 00:24:56.73\00:24:58.83 they were being led by a cloud, 00:24:58.83\00:25:00.36 the cloud led them, the pillar fire by night, 00:25:00.36\00:25:02.86 prior to them going into war, 00:25:02.86\00:25:04.40 God would communicate to Moses and give them instructions. 00:25:04.40\00:25:07.94 In some cases it was a very decisive battle 00:25:07.94\00:25:13.01 where the purpose was to remove an ungodly group of people, 00:25:14.34\00:25:16.78 but there were other times where God would actually say, 00:25:16.78\00:25:18.71 "No, leave them alone," or, "Save the woman and children," 00:25:18.71\00:25:22.02 so God was actually leading and directing Israel. 00:25:22.02\00:25:24.82 Part of the reason why Israel went into captivity 00:25:24.82\00:25:27.06 for the 400 years, 00:25:27.06\00:25:28.72 God said to Abraham, "Because the iniquity 00:25:28.72\00:25:30.66 is not yet full of the land," 00:25:30.66\00:25:32.63 so God had given them a 400 years of probationary time 00:25:32.63\00:25:35.93 before Israel returned to the promised land, 00:25:35.93\00:25:38.67 before the judgements came upon them, 00:25:38.67\00:25:40.70 and they knew about Abraham and they were witnesses 00:25:40.70\00:25:43.20 for the truth during that time period, 00:25:43.20\00:25:45.17 but God was giving them time to make a decision, 00:25:46.31\00:25:49.18 so it was unique situation. 00:25:49.18\00:25:50.55 - Yeah, yeah, it was. - It was a judgment, 00:25:50.55\00:25:51.58 different from today. 00:25:51.58\00:25:53.38 All right, well, thank you for your call, Israel. 00:25:53.38\00:25:54.78 You know, and Pastor Doug, I'm looking at the clock, 00:25:54.78\00:25:56.15 we've got about a minute before we take our break, 00:25:56.15\00:25:58.49 and probably wouldn't be fair to take another call, 00:25:58.49\00:26:00.99 but friends, if you have a Bible question, 00:26:00.99\00:26:02.89 we got another 30 minutes, 00:26:02.89\00:26:04.53 that's gonna be following our break here, 00:26:04.53\00:26:07.03 taking your Bible questions, 00:26:07.03\00:26:08.26 the number to call is 800-463-7297, 00:26:08.26\00:26:12.63 and if you don't get through right away, 00:26:12.63\00:26:14.54 just stay on the line, 00:26:14.54\00:26:15.94 one of our call screeners will contact or talk to you again, 00:26:15.94\00:26:19.11 the number is 800-463-7297, 00:26:19.11\00:26:22.28 and it's a good time now to call, 00:26:22.28\00:26:25.21 we'll get your call on the program. 00:26:25.21\00:26:26.95 (inspiring music) 00:26:26.95\00:26:28.02 - We're coming back with more Bible questions 00:26:28.02\00:26:29.15 in just a moment, so don't go away. 00:26:29.15\00:26:30.62 (inspiring music) 00:26:30.62\00:26:33.52 - [Announcer] Stay tuned, 00:26:34.76\00:26:35.86 Bible Answers Live will return shortly. 00:26:35.86\00:26:38.16 (inspiring music) 00:26:38.16\00:26:41.76 - [Christine] Hi, pastors, thank you for taking the call. 00:31:25.81\00:31:28.52 It's just one question, how do we submit our will to God? 00:31:28.52\00:31:33.59 How do we know that we are actually doing, 00:31:34.69\00:31:36.42 submitting our will to God? 00:31:37.33\00:31:38.86 - Well, that is the big question, 00:31:39.96\00:31:41.90 the biggest battle that Jesus fought was there 00:31:41.90\00:31:44.03 in the garden of Gethsemane, 00:31:44.03\00:31:45.37 where He said, you know, 00:31:45.37\00:31:46.90 "Father, if there's any way for this cup to pass from Me, 00:31:46.90\00:31:50.24 but not in My will, Thy will be done," 00:31:50.24\00:31:53.24 and that battle was so intense, 00:31:53.24\00:31:55.01 He prayed that prayer three times 00:31:55.01\00:31:56.38 and He was perspiring blood, 00:31:56.38\00:31:59.11 the Bible describes it as an agony. 00:31:59.11\00:32:00.88 So the biggest battle that any of us wage, 00:32:00.88\00:32:03.08 and it's on a day-to-day basis, 00:32:03.08\00:32:04.45 is saying, "Not what I want Lord, but what You want." 00:32:04.45\00:32:08.02 So, how do you know if you're doing that? 00:32:08.02\00:32:10.76 Well, you, day by day ask yourself, 00:32:10.76\00:32:13.70 "Am I doing my will or God's will?" 00:32:13.70\00:32:15.43 God's will is revealed in God's law 00:32:15.43\00:32:17.93 and in the teachings of Jesus, 00:32:17.93\00:32:20.00 and I think we do have a book that talks about 00:32:20.00\00:32:22.40 how can we know the will of God, 00:32:22.40\00:32:23.94 and in there is a section on how do we do the will of God. 00:32:23.94\00:32:26.61 - Mm-hmm, absolutely, and we'll be happy 00:32:26.61\00:32:28.11 to send that to anyone wanting to learn more 00:32:28.11\00:32:30.11 about knowing and doing the will of God. 00:32:30.11\00:32:32.51 It's called "How to Determine The Will of God," 00:32:32.51\00:32:34.68 and the number to call for that is 800-835-6747, 00:32:34.68\00:32:39.05 and we'll be happy to send you 00:32:39.05\00:32:40.09 this free book anywhere in North America. 00:32:40.09\00:32:42.56 Again, the number is 800-835-6747, 00:32:42.56\00:32:45.99 "How to Determine the Will of God" is the name of the book, 00:32:45.99\00:32:48.50 so just ask for it. 00:32:48.50\00:32:49.93 Thanks for your call, Christine. 00:32:49.93\00:32:51.13 We got Theresa listening in Washington DC. 00:32:51.13\00:32:53.40 Theresa, welcome to the program. 00:32:53.40\00:32:54.97 - [Theresa] Hi, good evening, pastors. 00:32:56.17\00:32:58.04 - Evening! 00:32:58.04\00:32:58.84 - [Theresa] Great, I have a question 00:33:00.14\00:33:01.91 regarding Revelation 16:1-2, where it says 00:33:01.91\00:33:06.98 that the first vial is poured out upon the earth, 00:33:09.62\00:33:13.52 and the men which had the mark of the beast, 00:33:13.52\00:33:16.73 and them which worship his image, 00:33:16.73\00:33:20.16 is that the close of probation 00:33:21.63\00:33:26.07 and the people that receive this mark, 00:33:26.07\00:33:30.87 the grievous sore, will they have a chance to repent 00:33:33.94\00:33:37.95 at that time? 00:33:37.95\00:33:39.05 - No, when the seven last plagues begin to fall 00:33:40.55\00:33:44.45 and they're in Revelation 16, 00:33:44.45\00:33:46.15 you have the first plagues 00:33:46.15\00:33:48.52 and you get first, second, third plagues 00:33:48.52\00:33:50.16 in the first four verses there, 00:33:50.16\00:33:51.79 once the plagues begin to fall, probation is closed, 00:33:53.19\00:33:55.83 and Pastor Ross, that verse in Revelation 22, 00:33:55.83\00:33:58.17 where it says, "He that is just, let him be just still, 00:33:58.17\00:34:01.80 and he that is filthy, let him be filthy still." 00:34:01.80\00:34:03.91 It kind of indicates 00:34:03.91\00:34:05.14 that once you reach the close of probation, 00:34:05.14\00:34:08.18 the saved are saved, the lost are lost, 00:34:08.18\00:34:10.11 and the door of mercy closed. 00:34:10.11\00:34:12.21 - Yeah, you have Revelation 22:11, 00:34:12.21\00:34:14.78 where you have Jesus saying, "He that is unjust, 00:34:14.78\00:34:16.95 let him be unjust still, he that he is filthy, 00:34:16.95\00:34:19.22 let him be filthy still, 00:34:19.22\00:34:20.59 he that is righteous, let him be righteous still, 00:34:20.59\00:34:22.72 he that is holy, let him be holy still," 00:34:22.72\00:34:25.13 and in the very next verse, Jesus says, 00:34:25.13\00:34:27.30 "Behold, I'm coming quickly, and My reward is with Me 00:34:27.30\00:34:30.50 to give to every man according to his work." 00:34:30.50\00:34:32.60 So, the close of probation 00:34:32.60\00:34:33.70 precedes the second coming of Christ, 00:34:33.70\00:34:35.40 and once probation closes, 00:34:35.40\00:34:37.11 then you have what the Bible calls the wrath of God, 00:34:37.11\00:34:39.24 which is the seven last plagues that are poured out, 00:34:39.24\00:34:42.21 but God's people are protected during that time of plagues. 00:34:42.21\00:34:46.41 Some people ask, "Well, why does God send the plagues 00:34:46.41\00:34:48.85 if it's too late for people to change sides?" 00:34:48.85\00:34:51.15 Well, the plagues help to reveal the heart of every person. 00:34:51.15\00:34:54.82 If you read a little further in the plagues, 00:34:54.82\00:34:56.49 instead of the wicked repenting, 00:34:56.49\00:34:58.73 when they realize that these plagues are coming 00:34:58.73\00:35:01.26 because of their sins, 00:35:01.26\00:35:02.30 they harden their hearts and they curse God 00:35:02.30\00:35:05.33 for sending the plagues, 00:35:05.33\00:35:07.40 so it reveals to the whole universe 00:35:07.40\00:35:10.21 that there's nothing more God can do 00:35:10.21\00:35:12.04 to try and save these people, 00:35:12.04\00:35:13.11 their hearts are fully set towards evil. 00:35:13.11\00:35:15.74 - Yeah, it says when you come to the fourth plague 00:35:15.74\00:35:17.78 and men are scorched with great heat in verse nine, 00:35:17.78\00:35:20.62 this is Revelation 16:9, 00:35:20.62\00:35:22.88 and it says, "They were scorched with great heat 00:35:22.88\00:35:24.55 and they blasphemed the name of God, 00:35:24.55\00:35:26.39 who has power over the plagues, 00:35:26.39\00:35:28.09 and they did not repent and give Him glory." 00:35:28.09\00:35:31.09 They didn't humble themselves, they blasphemed God, 00:35:31.09\00:35:33.76 they hardened their hearts like Pharaoh 00:35:33.76\00:35:35.56 when the plagues fell, and yeah, probation's closed for them 00:35:35.56\00:35:39.50 at this time. 00:35:39.50\00:35:40.87 - All right, well, thanks for your call, Theresa. 00:35:40.87\00:35:42.17 We've got Bonita listening from North Carolina. 00:35:42.17\00:35:44.94 Bonita, welcome to the program. 00:35:44.94\00:35:46.57 - [Bonita] Thank you very much, good evening- 00:35:47.98\00:35:50.11 - Evening. 00:35:50.11\00:35:51.18 - Pastor Doug, and evening, Pastor Jean. 00:35:51.18\00:35:54.22 My question, I've been trying to determine 00:35:55.32\00:35:58.89 what is the chronological order 00:35:59.69\00:36:01.66 of when Lucifer got kicked out of heaven? 00:36:01.66\00:36:04.79 Why was he kicked out specifically, 00:36:05.93\00:36:08.76 and when was he cast to earth? 00:36:08.76\00:36:12.87 Was it before or after the creation of the world? 00:36:12.87\00:36:17.14 - All right, well, I think you're gonna find in, 00:36:18.47\00:36:21.18 I think it's in Ezekiel 28 where it says, 00:36:21.18\00:36:23.45 "You have sinned and therefore you were cast out," 00:36:23.45\00:36:26.25 so he was cast out because of his rebellion and his sin, 00:36:26.25\00:36:29.35 he wanted God's position. 00:36:29.35\00:36:31.85 So, if you read in Ezekiel 28 and read in Isaiah 14, 00:36:31.85\00:36:36.93 I think you'll find there it describes 00:36:38.03\00:36:40.76 what Lucifer's goals were and what his sins were, 00:36:40.76\00:36:43.53 why he was cast out. 00:36:43.53\00:36:44.77 - Yeah, and with reference to the sequence 00:36:44.77\00:36:46.00 that you mentioned, 00:36:46.00\00:36:46.80 you find in Revelation 12, 00:36:46.80\00:36:48.14 it says there was war in heaven, and the devil lost, 00:36:48.14\00:36:51.34 and he was cast out, he and his angels. 00:36:51.34\00:36:53.74 Well, this appears to have happened 00:36:53.74\00:36:55.08 before the creation of the earth, this rebellion 00:36:55.08\00:36:57.25 or this war in heaven, once the earth was created, then, 00:36:57.25\00:37:00.12 of course, Lucifer had already been cast out of heaven, 00:37:00.12\00:37:02.68 he was able to tempt Adam and Eve, 00:37:02.68\00:37:05.05 and then he claimed the earth as his, 00:37:05.05\00:37:06.96 because the loyalty that Adam was to give to God, 00:37:06.96\00:37:09.49 he now gave to the devil. 00:37:09.49\00:37:11.29 So the devil claimed to be the representative of the earth, 00:37:11.29\00:37:13.70 but we do find another verse in Revelation 12:12 00:37:13.70\00:37:17.87 it says, "Therefore rejoice, O heavens, 00:37:17.87\00:37:19.53 and you that dwell in them, 00:37:19.53\00:37:20.54 woe to the inhabitants of the earth, 00:37:20.54\00:37:22.20 for the devil has come down to you, 00:37:22.20\00:37:23.57 having great wrath, because he knows he has a short time," 00:37:23.57\00:37:27.21 and verse 11 says, "They overcame them 00:37:27.21\00:37:28.94 by the blood of the Lamb." 00:37:28.94\00:37:30.25 So at the cross, the devil is cast down again, 00:37:30.25\00:37:33.55 so he's cast out of heaven before creation, 00:37:33.55\00:37:36.22 but at the cross he's cast down in a sense, 00:37:36.22\00:37:38.82 meaning that he is isolated to the earth, 00:37:38.82\00:37:41.02 because now Jesus is the rightful representative 00:37:41.02\00:37:44.39 of those who put their faith and trust in Him, 00:37:44.39\00:37:47.00 so the devil is cast out before creation, 00:37:47.00\00:37:49.30 he's cast down in a sense at the cross, 00:37:49.30\00:37:52.23 and that's Revelation 12:10, 00:37:52.23\00:37:55.60 that talks about salvation has come 00:37:55.60\00:37:57.31 and the devil has been cast down. 00:37:57.31\00:37:59.64 - Yes, thank you, Bonita. 00:37:59.64\00:38:01.81 - Next call that we have is Carol listening in New Jersey. 00:38:01.81\00:38:04.11 Carol, welcome to the program. 00:38:04.11\00:38:05.68 - [Carol] Hi, good evening, 00:38:06.68\00:38:07.78 thank you so much for taking my call, 00:38:07.78\00:38:09.05 Pastor Ross and Pastor Jean. 00:38:09.05\00:38:10.89 So my quick question is, in Hebrews 11:6, 00:38:10.89\00:38:15.96 "But without faith it's impossible to please him, 00:38:17.33\00:38:19.26 for he that commeth to God must believe that he is 00:38:19.26\00:38:23.30 and that he is a rewarder of them 00:38:23.30\00:38:25.07 that diligently seek him." 00:38:25.07\00:38:26.47 So my question is, what is the difference between this faith 00:38:26.47\00:38:31.04 and presumptuous faith? 00:38:31.04\00:38:33.41 Because if you're moving according to believing, 00:38:33.41\00:38:38.41 how can it reach to the point where it becomes presumptuous? 00:38:40.68\00:38:45.29 - Well, that is really a good question. 00:38:45.29\00:38:47.09 There is a difference between having faith, 00:38:47.09\00:38:50.43 moving forward in faith, and having a presumptuous faith, 00:38:50.43\00:38:53.40 I'll give you just a quick example. 00:38:54.60\00:38:56.43 Some pastors, when they feel impressed 00:38:57.53\00:38:59.50 they're supposed to build a church, some will say, 00:38:59.50\00:39:02.07 "Let's start building before we have the money," 00:39:02.07\00:39:05.01 and other pastors will say, "That's presumption, 00:39:05.01\00:39:08.38 you should be raising some of the money, 00:39:08.38\00:39:11.31 and so that you're not starting a tower 00:39:11.31\00:39:13.75 and you don't finish," and then there are other pastors 00:39:13.75\00:39:15.52 who say, "You ought have all the money 00:39:15.52\00:39:17.95 before you start building," and so it's interesting to see 00:39:17.95\00:39:21.79 these different perspectives. 00:39:21.79\00:39:23.32 I think sometimes, if you find yourself in dire straits, 00:39:24.66\00:39:27.00 you can believe that God will save you, 00:39:27.00\00:39:28.90 but you don't wanna jump off a cliff 00:39:28.90\00:39:30.50 or cast yourself from the temple and say, "I've got faith 00:39:30.50\00:39:32.87 that angels are gonna catch me," that's called presumption, 00:39:32.87\00:39:35.90 so that's where you start tempting the Lord 00:39:35.90\00:39:37.87 and saying that it's faith, so, I don't know, 00:39:37.87\00:39:41.94 does that make sense, Carol? 00:39:41.94\00:39:44.21 - [Carol] So if you move, is it that, 00:39:45.31\00:39:47.52 I'm understanding that if you put yourself in a position 00:39:47.52\00:39:51.35 out of the reach of the expectation 00:39:51.35\00:39:54.92 of what you might do in opposing to what God will do 00:39:54.92\00:39:59.13 according to His will, I'm a little bit confused 00:39:59.13\00:40:03.26 at that?" - Well, you know, yeah, 00:40:03.26\00:40:04.83 if you're spirit-led, let me just say this, 00:40:04.83\00:40:07.17 when you're baptized in the Holy Spirit, 00:40:07.17\00:40:08.84 sometimes the Holy Spirit's gonna ask you 00:40:08.84\00:40:10.67 to do really strange things, 00:40:10.67\00:40:13.11 like He's gonna ask you to march around a city 00:40:13.11\00:40:15.71 and blow a trumpet and expect the walls to fall, 00:40:15.71\00:40:18.31 or He is gonna ask you to step off in the Jordan river 00:40:18.31\00:40:20.58 when it's flooding and the river will stop. 00:40:20.58\00:40:23.35 So, I think I wanna be clear that if you look in the Bible, 00:40:23.35\00:40:26.55 you're gonna see that people of faith 00:40:26.55\00:40:27.92 are led by the Holy Spirit to do things 00:40:27.92\00:40:29.86 that may not make any sense at all, and God bless us. 00:40:29.86\00:40:34.73 When Elijah prays and fire comes down, 00:40:34.73\00:40:36.63 that took faith, and he prayed again, it didn't rain, 00:40:36.63\00:40:39.77 then he prayed it did rain, so, 00:40:39.77\00:40:42.97 but I think living day to day, 00:40:42.97\00:40:45.01 we may not always feel the Holy Spirit urging or guiding. 00:40:45.01\00:40:48.64 If you see something in the Word of God, step out in faith 00:40:48.64\00:40:51.71 on what the Word says, 00:40:51.71\00:40:52.98 regardless of what you might see or feel, 00:40:52.98\00:40:55.42 and God will bless your faith when it's based on the Word. 00:40:55.42\00:40:58.69 - I've heard one person put it this way, they said, 00:40:58.69\00:41:00.66 "Do what you know God wants you to do, 00:41:00.66\00:41:03.06 and then leave the results with Him." 00:41:03.06\00:41:05.13 So every day, try and do everything we can in our power 00:41:05.13\00:41:09.33 to accomplish what we believe God is wanting us to do, 00:41:09.33\00:41:12.43 and then leave the results with Him. 00:41:12.43\00:41:13.74 For example, when Jesus fed the 5,000, He asked, 00:41:13.74\00:41:16.71 "Well, how much food do you have?" 00:41:16.71\00:41:18.04 Well, they had few loaves and fish, and Jesus took that 00:41:18.04\00:41:20.98 and then He multiplied it and He fed more than 5,000 people. 00:41:20.98\00:41:23.38 So we are to do what we can from a human perspective 00:41:23.38\00:41:27.05 and trust God, have faith in God 00:41:27.05\00:41:29.55 that He will bring about to pass what He has promised. 00:41:29.55\00:41:32.09 - That's right, good point. - In other words, 00:41:32.09\00:41:33.42 somebody says, "Oh, I want God to gimme a job." 00:41:33.42\00:41:36.46 Well, if they're just gonna be sitting at home, 00:41:36.46\00:41:38.09 waiting for somebody to knock on their door 00:41:38.09\00:41:40.13 and offer them a job, that's maybe presumption, 00:41:40.13\00:41:42.73 but if they're out there doing the best they can 00:41:42.73\00:41:45.30 and they're looking for a job, 00:41:45.30\00:41:46.53 well, then they can trust that God will open 00:41:46.53\00:41:48.10 and direct them to the right place. 00:41:48.10\00:41:49.77 - Yeah, it's not in the Bible, 00:41:49.77\00:41:51.31 but it is true that God helps those that help themselves. 00:41:51.31\00:41:53.04 - Yeah, that's true, yeah, it's practical, yeah. 00:41:53.04\00:41:55.64 Well, thanks for your call, Carol. 00:41:55.64\00:41:57.01 Rachel is listening in Kansas. 00:41:57.01\00:41:59.05 Rachel, welcome to the program. 00:42:00.08\00:42:02.15 - [Rachel] I am reading the Bible from front to back, 00:42:02.15\00:42:05.99 and so I'm only in the Old Testament, 00:42:05.99\00:42:08.99 and God speaks words to Moses and Joshua, and He says, 00:42:08.99\00:42:14.03 "Fear not, do not be afraid- 00:42:14.83\00:42:16.43 - I'm with you, 00:42:17.87\00:42:18.63 be courageous." - And yes, 00:42:18.63\00:42:20.90 and in today's time, people like to share scripture with you 00:42:20.90\00:42:25.14 whenever you're having hardship or something. 00:42:25.14\00:42:28.11 Is there a scripture in the Bible that allows us 00:42:28.11\00:42:31.45 to take those words that God said to either Moses or Joshua 00:42:31.45\00:42:35.55 or whoever, 00:42:35.55\00:42:36.65 and actually use them in our time for us? 00:42:36.65\00:42:39.45 Because they were spoken to someone for a certain situation 00:42:39.45\00:42:44.26 in the Bible. 00:42:45.19\00:42:46.19 - Good question. 00:42:46.19\00:42:47.10 Where is it, Pastor Ross, where Peter says, 00:42:48.13\00:42:50.50 "For given unto us are exceeding great and precious promises 00:42:50.50\00:42:54.14 that by these we might become partakers 00:42:54.14\00:42:56.64 of the divine nature, 00:42:56.64\00:42:58.14 having escaped the corruption 00:42:58.14\00:42:59.54 that is in the world through lust"? 00:42:59.54\00:43:01.28 - 2 Peter 1:4. 00:43:02.18\00:43:03.45 - See, friends, I'm dyslexic, I remember the verse, 00:43:03.45\00:43:05.25 I don't remember the verse, but I remember the words. 00:43:05.25\00:43:09.05 So he says there are promises given to us in scripture 00:43:09.05\00:43:12.95 "That by these we might become partakers 00:43:12.95\00:43:14.89 of the divine nature." 00:43:14.89\00:43:15.99 So when I read God and Moses saying to Joshua, 00:43:15.99\00:43:20.30 "Be courageous, be courageous, be very courageous," 00:43:20.30\00:43:22.63 and that's in, I think, chapter one of Joshua, 00:43:22.63\00:43:25.37 I think I can apply that to me, 00:43:25.37\00:43:26.90 and that God is saying that if I'm willing to do His will, 00:43:26.90\00:43:29.74 I can be courageous and know that He's with me. 00:43:29.74\00:43:32.24 So, God hasn't changed, 00:43:32.24\00:43:33.74 and so the same promises and assurances 00:43:33.74\00:43:36.21 that God gives His prophets through history, 00:43:36.21\00:43:38.95 they apply to me. 00:43:38.95\00:43:39.91 He also gave them conditions, 00:43:39.91\00:43:41.62 so if we're following the conditions that He gives them, 00:43:41.62\00:43:44.85 we can claim the same promises that He gives them. 00:43:44.85\00:43:47.22 - And of course, not only do we have the examples 00:43:47.22\00:43:48.82 in the Old Testament where God says, 00:43:48.82\00:43:50.23 "Do not be afraid, do not fear," 00:43:50.23\00:43:52.43 but we find that repeated by Jesus in the New Testament, 00:43:52.43\00:43:55.43 where He says, "Don't be afraid, 00:43:55.43\00:43:57.30 don't worry about what you're gonna eat 00:43:57.30\00:43:58.83 and what you're gonna wear, God will take care of you. 00:43:58.83\00:44:00.80 If you seek first the kingdom, 00:44:00.80\00:44:02.80 all these things shall be added." 00:44:02.80\00:44:04.17 So those principles that we see in the Old Testament, 00:44:04.17\00:44:06.44 they re repeated in the New Testament. 00:44:06.44\00:44:08.14 - That's right, yeah. 00:44:08.14\00:44:08.98 - Without a doubt. 00:44:08.98\00:44:10.15 - Very good. - All right. 00:44:10.15\00:44:11.55 Next caller that we have is Rob listening from Michigan. 00:44:11.55\00:44:13.92 Rob, welcome to the program. 00:44:13.92\00:44:15.68 - [Rob] Hi, thank you. 00:44:15.68\00:44:17.25 Yes, I need you to elaborate on Daniel's vision 00:44:17.25\00:44:20.59 where he saw this image that symbolized several kingdoms, 00:44:20.59\00:44:25.39 starting with Persia, Medo-Persia, 00:44:26.43\00:44:30.70 and it had brass, it had tin, it had iron, and it gold, 00:44:30.70\00:44:35.77 and it symbolizes the different civilizations 00:44:37.37\00:44:41.01 up to modern day. 00:44:41.01\00:44:42.58 So, can you speak to that a little bit more? 00:44:42.58\00:44:45.51 - Sure, and before I even get into it, 00:44:45.51\00:44:48.32 I won't be able to cover it all in just a few minutes, 00:44:48.32\00:44:50.92 but we'll give you a free lesson, 00:44:50.92\00:44:53.96 and it's called "The Millennial Man," 00:44:55.02\00:44:56.79 it's one of our historical lessons, 00:44:56.79\00:44:58.33 it's the first one, it's called "The Millennial Man," 00:44:58.33\00:45:00.13 it covers the prophecy of Daniel 2, 00:45:00.13\00:45:03.20 where Nebuchadnezzar, here's my quick answer, 00:45:03.20\00:45:05.90 has a dream of this large idol, 00:45:05.90\00:45:08.60 and this huge image image is made with a head of gold, 00:45:08.60\00:45:12.11 the chest and arms are of silver, 00:45:12.11\00:45:14.24 the belly is of bronze, and the thighs, 00:45:14.24\00:45:16.61 the legs are of iron, the feet are iron and clay, 00:45:16.61\00:45:19.45 and then he sees a stone cut without hands 00:45:19.45\00:45:21.62 come from the heavens, strike the image on the feet, 00:45:21.62\00:45:24.39 and it basically pulverizes it, 00:45:24.39\00:45:26.49 and it all blows away. 00:45:26.49\00:45:28.42 That idol, idolatry was forbidden by the Jewish people 00:45:28.42\00:45:31.76 in the Ten Commandments, it's forbidden for everybody, 00:45:31.76\00:45:35.00 represents the religions of the world, 00:45:35.00\00:45:37.40 and the head of gold, Daniel tells Nebuchadnezzar 00:45:37.40\00:45:40.37 that's the kingdom of Babylon, 00:45:40.37\00:45:42.44 the arms of silver were the kingdoms of Medo-Persia, 00:45:42.44\00:45:46.17 the bronze was the kingdom of Greece, 00:45:46.17\00:45:48.91 the iron was the kingdom of Rome, 00:45:48.91\00:45:51.38 the feet of iron and clay were the division 00:45:51.38\00:45:53.62 of the Roman empire 00:45:53.62\00:45:55.02 that went with a combination of religion and government, 00:45:55.02\00:45:58.15 and that's where you've got the papacy, really, 00:45:58.15\00:46:00.96 ruling the European civilization for over a thousand years, 00:46:00.96\00:46:05.26 and it says in the days of these kings, 00:46:05.26\00:46:07.40 that God is gonna establish His kingdom, 00:46:07.40\00:46:09.50 we're living in the toenails, 00:46:09.50\00:46:10.83 the very toes of that image today. 00:46:10.83\00:46:13.97 So take a look at that lesson, 00:46:13.97\00:46:15.44 anyone could ask for that lesson on "The Millennial Man," 00:46:15.44\00:46:18.64 and it covers that prophecy. 00:46:18.64\00:46:20.08 - The number to call is 800-835-6747, 00:46:20.08\00:46:23.55 and again, you can ask for the study guide, actually, 00:46:23.55\00:46:25.41 one of the lessons called "Millennial Man," 00:46:25.41\00:46:28.12 it's part of the historical set of lessons, 00:46:28.12\00:46:30.85 and we'll be happy to send that to you, 00:46:30.85\00:46:32.79 thanks for your call. 00:46:32.79\00:46:34.19 Next caller that we have is AJ, listening from Nebraska. 00:46:34.19\00:46:36.79 AJ, welcome to the program. 00:46:36.79\00:46:38.19 - [AJ] Thanks for having me. 00:46:39.36\00:46:40.83 My question is why was Michal punished 00:46:42.83\00:46:46.80 for watching David dance 00:46:46.80\00:46:48.87 when he brought the ark into Jerusalem? 00:46:48.87\00:46:52.71 - All right, now, Michal, I know it sounds 00:46:52.71\00:46:54.28 like a man's name, but Michal was the wife of King David, 00:46:54.28\00:46:58.45 she was the daughter of King Saul. 00:46:58.45\00:47:00.12 David actually had several wives, 00:47:00.12\00:47:02.38 she wasn't punished for watching him dance, 00:47:02.38\00:47:04.29 she was punished for mocking him, 00:47:04.29\00:47:06.45 and it doesn't say David punished her, 00:47:06.45\00:47:08.72 it basically says that she never had children, 00:47:08.72\00:47:12.13 she was never blessed with children, 00:47:12.13\00:47:13.83 and I think another reason that Michal never had children 00:47:13.83\00:47:16.60 is because there were some people 00:47:16.60\00:47:18.60 that wanted to see the Benjamites, the descendants of 00:47:18.60\00:47:21.47 Saul, back on the throne, and if God had given children to David 00:47:21.47\00:47:25.07 through Michal, a lot of people would say, 00:47:25.07\00:47:26.98 "Well, naturally, it should be the children 00:47:26.98\00:47:29.51 of David and Saul, 00:47:29.51\00:47:31.21 as opposed to the children of David and Bathsheba," 00:47:31.21\00:47:33.82 and it ended up being Solomon, 00:47:33.82\00:47:35.42 the daughter, or rather the son of Bathsheba. 00:47:35.42\00:47:38.45 So there were a couple of reasons, 00:47:38.45\00:47:39.72 she shouldn't have been mocking her husband 00:47:39.72\00:47:41.19 for worshiping the Lord, and she did not like 00:47:41.19\00:47:44.66 that he humbled himself, took off his robes, 00:47:44.66\00:47:46.39 and he was wearing the simple linen ephod like a priest. 00:47:46.39\00:47:50.30 Good question, thanks so much, AJ. 00:47:51.33\00:47:53.30 - We've got Patrick listening also from Nebraska. 00:47:53.30\00:47:56.20 Patrick, welcome to the program. 00:47:56.20\00:47:58.61 - [Patrick] Yes, good evening, Pastor Doug and Pastor Ross. 00:47:58.61\00:48:02.84 My question is concerning the identity of Melchizedek, 00:48:02.84\00:48:06.21 he was both a king and a priest. 00:48:07.18\00:48:09.22 I thought about this question 00:48:10.02\00:48:11.29 when someone asked the question concerning Noah 00:48:11.29\00:48:13.79 and the Tower of Babel. 00:48:13.79\00:48:15.36 The identity of Melchizedek, 00:48:16.99\00:48:19.19 Pastor Bachelor, if you could elaborate on that some, 00:48:19.19\00:48:22.80 I'd appreciate it, thank you. 00:48:22.80\00:48:24.63 - Yeah, well, we know that Melchizedek is a type of Christ 00:48:24.63\00:48:28.00 because here Abraham, coming back from the battle 00:48:28.00\00:48:30.97 with the kings of the north, Melchizedek, 00:48:30.97\00:48:33.91 who is the king and priest of Salem, 00:48:33.91\00:48:37.45 later known as Jerusalem, same place, 00:48:37.45\00:48:39.91 Abraham pays tithes to him, 00:48:41.42\00:48:43.69 so he's someone who seems to be a worshiper of the true God, 00:48:43.69\00:48:47.06 it says he's a priest of the Most High God, 00:48:47.06\00:48:49.46 and you think, "What's he doing in Canaan?" 00:48:49.46\00:48:51.23 Somebody that worships the true God, 00:48:51.23\00:48:53.36 some have speculated, and you can't really prove it, 00:48:54.73\00:48:56.13 but it is a workable theory, 00:48:56.13\00:48:58.17 that one of the sons of Noah who was still alive, Shem, 00:48:58.17\00:49:02.04 lived over 600 years, 00:49:02.04\00:49:03.97 his life overlapped with the life of Abraham 00:49:03.97\00:49:06.41 over 100 years, I think 170 years, 00:49:06.41\00:49:11.15 and so some have said, well, after Abraham moved, 00:49:11.15\00:49:15.18 because of the idolatry that was in Ur, 00:49:15.18\00:49:18.05 that Shem may have also heard that God had led Abraham 00:49:18.05\00:49:21.22 to this promised land, and he had come with his clan 00:49:21.22\00:49:24.53 and settled there, we don't know that, 00:49:24.53\00:49:26.43 and it's just one theory, 00:49:26.43\00:49:28.23 and he appears mysteriously out of nowhere, 00:49:28.23\00:49:32.07 the Bible doesn't say who his people are, 00:49:32.07\00:49:34.27 where he came from, where he went to, 00:49:34.27\00:49:35.64 so he's sort of a type of Christ 00:49:35.64\00:49:36.87 in that he's without beginning or end, biblically, 00:49:36.87\00:49:39.81 he just appears and disappears. 00:49:39.81\00:49:41.51 - Now, if you read from the Book of Hebrews, 00:49:41.51\00:49:43.28 Paul does spend quite a bit of time talking 00:49:43.28\00:49:45.35 about Melchizedek as a type of Christ, 00:49:45.35\00:49:47.98 he was both a priest and a king, 00:49:47.98\00:49:50.19 and apparently Abraham recognized this because Abraham, 00:49:50.19\00:49:53.19 the great patriarch, he gave a tithe to Melchizedek, 00:49:53.19\00:49:56.62 and that's a little different. 00:49:56.62\00:49:58.13 The Levites came through the seed of Abraham, 00:49:58.13\00:50:00.46 but here is Melchizedek of a different type of priesthood, 00:50:00.46\00:50:03.43 and Paul says that's the type of priesthood of Jesus. 00:50:03.43\00:50:06.77 All right, great question, thank you. 00:50:06.77\00:50:08.54 Carol is listening in California. 00:50:08.54\00:50:09.57 Carol, welcome to the program. 00:50:09.57\00:50:11.14 - [Carol] Hi, thank you for taking my call. 00:50:12.47\00:50:14.51 - Yes. 00:50:14.51\00:50:15.41 - [Carol] In Revelation some things are literal 00:50:16.95\00:50:20.05 and some things are symbolic, 00:50:20.05\00:50:22.42 and in regards to the 144,000 people 00:50:22.42\00:50:26.55 that will be alive when Jesus comes, 00:50:26.55\00:50:31.03 how is that interpreted? 00:50:32.29\00:50:34.10 - Well, the 144,000, you find them mentioned 00:50:35.16\00:50:38.10 in Revelation 7, and then double that, 00:50:38.10\00:50:40.30 you find them mentioned in Revelation 14. 00:50:40.30\00:50:43.20 The 144,000, they are not the only one saved, 00:50:43.20\00:50:47.14 I do believe the number is literal, 00:50:47.14\00:50:48.98 but I think this is a number that is basically describing 00:50:48.98\00:50:52.51 the last-day apostles around the world. 00:50:52.51\00:50:56.38 Jesus had 12 apostles that prepared the people of Israel 00:50:56.38\00:51:00.66 for His first coming and introduced Him at Pentecost, 00:51:00.66\00:51:04.79 and then before His second coming, 00:51:04.79\00:51:06.53 he'll have 12 times 12,000, both literal and spiritual Jews, 00:51:06.53\00:51:11.57 and so I think that calling them children of Israel, 00:51:12.90\00:51:16.91 that's symbolic, because those that are Christ's 00:51:16.91\00:51:19.11 are Abraham seed, God is not gonna be raising up 12,000 00:51:19.11\00:51:23.21 from the tribe of Gad or Manasseh, they don't exist 00:51:23.21\00:51:26.98 anymore, they intermarried before Jesus was born, and 00:51:26.98\00:51:30.49 disappeared. So it's basically saying that God's gonna have 00:51:30.49\00:51:33.22 these last-day people filled with the Spirit, 00:51:33.22\00:51:35.32 doing a work similar to the work of the apostles, 00:51:35.32\00:51:38.53 preparing a great multitude for Jesus' coming. 00:51:38.53\00:51:41.40 Now, we have a book on this, 00:51:41.40\00:51:42.50 we'll be happy to send you a free copy, Carol. 00:51:42.50\00:51:45.00 - Yes, the book is called, "Who Will Sing The Song? 00:51:45.00\00:51:47.24 Understanding the 144,000," a book written by Pastor Doug, 00:51:47.24\00:51:50.21 and we'll be happy to send this to you, Carol, 00:51:50.21\00:51:52.11 anyone who calls and asks. 00:51:52.11\00:51:54.01 The number is 800-835-6747, just ask for the book 00:51:54.01\00:51:58.61 on the 144,000, it's called, "Who Will Sing the Song?" 00:51:58.61\00:52:02.18 And we'll get that in the mail and send it to you. 00:52:02.18\00:52:04.82 Next caller that we have, let's see, 00:52:04.82\00:52:06.32 we've got Elisa listening from Michigan. 00:52:06.32\00:52:10.89 Lisa, welcome to the program. 00:52:10.89\00:52:12.79 - [Lisa] Hi, thank you for taking my call. 00:52:12.79\00:52:16.46 My question, well, 00:52:16.46\00:52:18.73 I know that it's best with prophecy unfolding like it is, 00:52:18.73\00:52:23.20 to be out of the cities and into the country, 00:52:23.20\00:52:26.61 and my family, I have two severe autistic boys, 00:52:26.61\00:52:31.35 and we do plan on moving to the country, 00:52:31.35\00:52:33.52 but my question is, in the time of where we can't buy 00:52:33.52\00:52:38.35 or sell, and the blue laws are there, 00:52:38.35\00:52:41.19 how are we going to live? 00:52:41.19\00:52:44.79 Because we may have a mortgage and probably land taxes 00:52:44.79\00:52:48.76 if we don't have a mortgage, so I was just wondering 00:52:48.76\00:52:51.30 how that would work, 00:52:51.30\00:52:52.57 'cause we'll have that home in the country, 00:52:52.57\00:52:54.34 but still we won't be able to buy or sell. 00:52:54.34\00:52:58.47 - Yeah. 00:52:58.47\00:52:59.71 - [Lisa] So that is what I'm wondering about. 00:52:59.71\00:53:00.31 - Good question. 00:53:00.31\00:53:01.34 I think the last thing to happen would be 00:53:02.41\00:53:05.58 that banks will not take your money. 00:53:05.58\00:53:07.45 When you can't buy something, that's different, 00:53:08.68\00:53:09.95 but if you're trying to pay, 00:53:09.95\00:53:11.59 pay someone back for a property 00:53:12.52\00:53:15.96 or a mortgage, they'll probably accept payment, 00:53:15.96\00:53:18.76 but it's gonna be hard for people to buy. 00:53:19.83\00:53:22.60 Now, when it says they can't buy or sell, 00:53:22.60\00:53:24.13 not only will that be happening on a personal level, 00:53:24.13\00:53:26.97 that's already happening, 00:53:26.97\00:53:28.34 it's in the news today on an international level, 00:53:28.34\00:53:30.64 they call it economic sanctions, 00:53:30.64\00:53:32.47 when one nation tells another nation, 00:53:32.47\00:53:34.14 "We are not gonna allow you to buy." 00:53:34.14\00:53:36.88 It's been in the news a lot lately with Russia 00:53:36.88\00:53:39.31 and some of those sanctions. 00:53:39.31\00:53:40.98 So I think that's the bigger part 00:53:40.98\00:53:44.82 of what's happening in Revelation, 00:53:44.82\00:53:46.22 is that the United States and other nations 00:53:46.22\00:53:48.36 are gonna punish parts of the world 00:53:48.36\00:53:51.13 that don't go along with the religious laws, 00:53:51.13\00:53:52.79 but it's also gonna happen on an individual basis, 00:53:52.79\00:53:56.46 and it'll be very easy to control. 00:53:56.46\00:53:58.63 I mean, even now we've seen that with COVID, 00:53:58.63\00:54:02.37 there's been a lot of government involvement 00:54:02.37\00:54:04.94 in personal things, travel, and purchases, 00:54:04.94\00:54:07.41 can't go to certain stores. 00:54:07.41\00:54:09.01 So it's very easy to see, with electronic money, 00:54:09.01\00:54:11.98 how quickly this could happen. 00:54:11.98\00:54:13.78 Hope that helps, Elisa. 00:54:13.78\00:54:15.45 Pastor Ross, if someone wants to send us, 00:54:15.45\00:54:17.15 not everyone can call in or not everyone wants to get 00:54:17.15\00:54:19.55 on the radio and call in with their question, 00:54:19.55\00:54:21.82 if they wanna email us questions for the Rapid Fire, 00:54:21.82\00:54:24.56 what's the address for that? 00:54:24.56\00:54:25.93 - The address is just simply balquestions@amazingfacts.org. 00:54:25.93\00:54:30.27 Again, that's B-A-L, Bible Answers Live, 00:54:30.27\00:54:33.10 questions@amazingfacts.org. 00:54:33.10\00:54:35.47 If you're watching this on social media, 00:54:35.47\00:54:37.27 you can actually type your question there 00:54:37.27\00:54:38.97 in the comment section, and we'll try to gather 00:54:38.97\00:54:41.84 those questions together, put them down, 00:54:41.84\00:54:44.78 and try and answer as many of them as we can 00:54:44.78\00:54:46.98 during our special two-minute segment 00:54:46.98\00:54:49.08 that's gonna be coming up 00:54:49.08\00:54:50.15 in like 10 seconds from now, Pastor Doug. 00:54:50.15\00:54:52.79 - That's right, and also don't forget, 00:54:52.79\00:54:55.29 check out everything else that's available 00:54:55.29\00:54:57.19 through the ministry at amazingfacts.org. 00:54:57.19\00:55:01.06 We'll be back in just a few moments for our other audience. 00:55:01.06\00:55:03.90 (inspiring music) 00:55:03.90\00:55:06.00 (adventurous music) 00:55:06.00\00:55:07.84 - [Announcer] Thank you for listening to today's broadcast. 00:55:07.84\00:55:10.44 We hope you understand your Bible even better than before. 00:55:10.44\00:55:14.14 Bible Answers Live is produced 00:55:14.14\00:55:16.01 by Amazing Facts International, 00:55:16.01\00:55:18.28 a faith-based ministry located in Granite Bay, California. 00:55:18.28\00:55:22.85 (adventurous music) 00:55:22.85\00:55:24.22 - Hello friends, welcome back. 00:55:24.22\00:55:25.49 We have about two minutes, Pastor Doug, 00:55:25.49\00:55:27.16 to answer some of the questions that have been sent 00:55:27.16\00:55:29.76 into the program, 00:55:29.76\00:55:30.83 we've got some great questions this evening, 00:55:30.83\00:55:32.36 I'm curious about the answer. 00:55:32.36\00:55:34.10 So let's get started, the first question that we have is, 00:55:34.10\00:55:36.56 "Is there a biblical example 00:55:36.56\00:55:38.30 of when you have to love your enemy?" 00:55:38.30\00:55:41.20 - Yeah, I think there's probably several examples, 00:55:41.20\00:55:43.10 you've got the example in the Bible 00:55:43.10\00:55:44.44 where King David had an opportunity 00:55:44.44\00:55:46.64 to get vengeance on King Saul, 00:55:46.64\00:55:48.71 Saul was actually hunting David to kill him, 00:55:48.71\00:55:51.45 and on two occasions David, just providentially, 00:55:51.45\00:55:56.05 basically had an opportunity to pin Saul to the ground 00:55:56.05\00:55:59.19 or to kill him, and he said, "I won't do it," 00:55:59.19\00:56:01.22 and he let him go free, and he even told Saul, he said, 00:56:01.22\00:56:03.26 "Look, I can kill you right now, 00:56:03.26\00:56:05.29 but I'm gonna let you go free," and he loved his enemy. 00:56:05.29\00:56:08.06 Elisha forgave a whole army that was trying to capture him 00:56:08.06\00:56:11.67 and said, "Feed them and send them home." 00:56:11.67\00:56:14.17 - All right, very good. 00:56:14.17\00:56:14.97 Another question that we have, 00:56:14.97\00:56:16.34 "What does it mean to love the Lord with all of your heart 00:56:16.34\00:56:18.34 and all of your soul?" 00:56:18.34\00:56:19.81 - Well, Jesus said, "If you love me, keep my commandments," 00:56:21.14\00:56:23.91 and when we love the Lord with all of our heart 00:56:23.91\00:56:26.18 and all our soul, makes me think of that statement you find 00:56:26.18\00:56:30.42 in Deuteronomy 5, I think it's verse 29, 00:56:30.42\00:56:33.29 where you said, "Oh, that all of My people would love Me 00:56:33.29\00:56:36.42 and keep all of My commandments always, 00:56:36.42\00:56:38.86 that it might be well with them and their children," 00:56:38.86\00:56:41.43 and so we show that we love the Lord with all of our heart 00:56:41.43\00:56:44.60 by doing all that we know He wants us to do. 00:56:44.60\00:56:47.54 - Okay, another question that we have. 00:56:47.54\00:56:48.84 "Can our dead family members hear us speak to them? 00:56:48.84\00:56:52.51 Do they know what's happening with us here on earth?" 00:56:52.51\00:56:55.54 - Bible tells us in the Book of Isaiah 00:56:55.54\00:56:57.78 that we are not to consult wizards that mutter 00:56:57.78\00:57:00.58 and peep in the dark, and that's in Isaiah 8, 00:57:00.58\00:57:04.02 "Should the living go to the dead for knowledge?" 00:57:04.02\00:57:06.59 The Bible tells us that in the last days, 00:57:06.59\00:57:08.72 the wicked will be, there are devils working miracles. 00:57:08.72\00:57:12.03 You read in Revelation 16, 00:57:12.03\00:57:13.80 Satan can be transformed into an angel of light, 00:57:13.80\00:57:16.06 he can impersonate the spirits of the dead 00:57:16.06\00:57:18.33 as happened with the witch of Endor. 00:57:18.33\00:57:20.67 "The living know they will die, 00:57:20.67\00:57:21.97 the dead don't know anything, 00:57:21.97\00:57:23.07 they do not return to their house," 00:57:23.07\00:57:25.01 Job 14 tells us, and haunt the house. 00:57:25.01\00:57:28.21 - Okay, another question that we have is, 00:57:28.21\00:57:29.51 "How long does it take to be right with God 00:57:29.51\00:57:32.38 after repenting of sin?" 00:57:32.38\00:57:34.12 - Now that's good news, 00:57:34.12\00:57:35.58 the Bible says that as soon as we repent, 00:57:35.58\00:57:38.52 He immediately forgives. 00:57:38.52\00:57:40.32 You see this where the thief on the cross said, 00:57:40.32\00:57:42.19 "Lord, remember me," right away Jesus promised, 00:57:42.19\00:57:44.99 "You will be with Me in paradise." 00:57:44.99\00:57:47.73 When Zaccheus came to Christ, Jesus declared, 00:57:47.73\00:57:50.57 "This is a son of Abraham." 00:57:50.57\00:57:52.90 When Isaiah said, "I am a sinful man," 00:57:52.90\00:57:55.20 God cleansed him and said, "Your sin is purged," 00:57:55.20\00:57:58.47 so as soon as we repent, He forgives, that's the good news. 00:57:58.47\00:58:01.98 - That is, absolutely. 00:58:01.98\00:58:03.38 Again, thank you, friends, for your Bible questions, 00:58:03.38\00:58:05.81 if we didn't get to your question this evening, 00:58:05.81\00:58:07.95 make sure you join us next week 00:58:07.95\00:58:09.52 as we try to answer more Bible questions. 00:58:09.52\00:58:11.52 (inspiring music) 00:58:11.52\00:58:13.42 - [Announcer] Bible Answers Live, 00:58:13.42\00:58:15.22 honest and accurate answers to your Bible questions. 00:58:15.22\00:58:19.26 (inspiring music ends) 00:58:19.26\00:58:22.56
