Would you like to hear an amazing fact? 00:00:50.21\00:00:54.02 On April 29th, 2020, 00:00:54.02\00:00:56.32 a sprawling mass of powerful thunderstorms 00:00:56.32\00:00:59.35 produced a single mega flash lightning strike 00:00:59.35\00:01:02.06 over the Southern United States 00:01:02.06\00:01:03.93 that was more than 477 miles long. 00:01:03.93\00:01:07.96 This record-breaking massive flash of electric tentacles 00:01:07.96\00:01:11.43 stretched from near Houston to Southeast Mississippi. 00:01:11.43\00:01:14.94 The record beat the 440 mile-long mega flash 00:01:14.94\00:01:18.24 that occurred over Southern Brazil on Halloween of 2018. 00:01:18.24\00:01:22.51 Using the newest weather satellites, 00:01:22.51\00:01:24.81 the World Meteorological Organization announced 00:01:24.81\00:01:27.58 that it had confirmed the mega flash lightning record. 00:01:27.58\00:01:30.79 The WMO also identified a world record 00:01:30.79\00:01:34.26 for the longest lasting lightning flash. 00:01:34.26\00:01:37.29 It lit up the skies over Uruguay and Northern Argentina 00:01:37.29\00:01:40.90 for 17.1 seconds on June 18th, 2020. 00:01:40.90\00:01:45.17 Imagine that, Pastor Ross, 00:01:45.17\00:01:46.70 one lightning strike lights up the sky for 17 seconds. 00:01:46.70\00:01:49.97 That may not sound like long, but hold your breath 00:01:49.97\00:01:52.97 and picture a lightning strike for 17 seconds 00:01:52.97\00:01:55.81 and well, that would put any dog under the bed. 00:01:55.81\00:01:59.35 - Just the brightness of that, 00:01:59.35\00:02:00.82 you could probably read with a flash of lightning that long. 00:02:00.82\00:02:02.92 - You wonder what kinda thunder it would produce. 00:02:02.92\00:02:04.85 - Oh, man. Yeah, absolutely, yeah. 00:02:04.85\00:02:06.82 - It makes me think about that verse in the Bible 00:02:06.82\00:02:08.62 where Jesus is warning regarding His Second Coming, 00:02:08.62\00:02:11.23 He's warning about not being deceived 00:02:11.23\00:02:13.76 'cause He says there's going to be false Christs 00:02:13.76\00:02:16.36 and false prophets. 00:02:16.36\00:02:17.83 Now let me read a little bit to you of this. 00:02:17.83\00:02:20.44 It's in Matthew 24:23-27. 00:02:20.44\00:02:25.04 "Then if anyone says to you, 00:02:25.04\00:02:26.71 'Look, here is Christ! Or there!' 00:02:26.71\00:02:28.88 Do not believe it. 00:02:28.88\00:02:29.98 For false Christs and false prophets will rise 00:02:29.98\00:02:32.65 and show great signs and wonders to deceive, 00:02:32.65\00:02:34.88 if possible, even the very elect. 00:02:34.88\00:02:37.35 See, I've told you beforehand. 00:02:37.35\00:02:39.29 Therefore if they say to you, 00:02:39.29\00:02:40.52 'Look, he's in the desert!' 00:02:40.52\00:02:41.92 Do not go out; or, 'Look, he's in the inner rooms!' 00:02:41.92\00:02:44.23 Do not believe it. 00:02:44.23\00:02:45.46 For as lightning comes from the east 00:02:45.46\00:02:48.80 and flashes to the west, 00:02:48.80\00:02:50.70 so also will the coming of the Son of man be." 00:02:50.70\00:02:54.90 And so He's telling us 00:02:54.90\00:02:56.37 that we don't need to be concerned about... people say, 00:02:56.37\00:02:59.41 "I'm Jesus or Jesus came," 00:02:59.41\00:03:00.84 or you get a news report that says 00:03:00.84\00:03:02.74 it's gonna be like the whole Heaven's being lit up 00:03:02.74\00:03:05.58 when He comes and everybody's gonna know it. 00:03:05.58\00:03:08.32 - I know, Pastor Doug, you spent some time in the Midwest. 00:03:08.32\00:03:10.35 I have, and boy, do they have 00:03:10.35\00:03:11.89 those incredible electric storms. 00:03:11.89\00:03:14.36 And sometimes when there's so much lightning 00:03:14.36\00:03:16.42 and thunder at night, it just lights up the sky. 00:03:16.42\00:03:19.63 It's just amazing. 00:03:19.63\00:03:20.76 Well, you can imagine the coming of Christ, 00:03:20.76\00:03:23.00 how glorious that'll be. 00:03:23.00\00:03:24.33 There's no way you can hide from that brightness 00:03:24.33\00:03:26.90 of the Second Coming of Christ. 00:03:26.90\00:03:28.50 We have a book talking about the Second Coming 00:03:28.50\00:03:30.54 and it says "anything but secret." 00:03:30.54\00:03:32.64 That's the title of the book. 00:03:32.64\00:03:34.41 Sometimes people are confused. 00:03:34.41\00:03:35.84 They wonder if the Second Coming of Christ 00:03:35.84\00:03:37.48 is gonna be secret or quiet. 00:03:37.48\00:03:39.51 Well, the Bible says just the opposite. 00:03:39.51\00:03:41.05 It's gonna be a noisy, glorious event 00:03:41.05\00:03:44.59 and we'll be happy to send this book to anyone who asks. 00:03:44.59\00:03:47.09 The book again is called "Anything But Secret" 00:03:47.09\00:03:49.32 and the number is 800-835-6747. 00:03:49.32\00:03:53.46 That is our resource phone line. 00:03:53.46\00:03:55.50 You can ask for the book 00:03:55.50\00:03:56.80 and we'll be happy to send it to you. 00:03:56.80\00:03:58.20 If you're outside of North America, 00:03:58.20\00:03:59.63 just go visit the Amazing Facts website 00:03:59.63\00:04:02.30 and you'll be able to read the book right there online. 00:04:02.30\00:04:04.41 Pastor Doug, we wanna greet our friends 00:04:04.41\00:04:05.81 who are joining us on Facebook and YouTube. 00:04:05.81\00:04:08.31 Also those watching on Amazing Facts TV, 00:04:08.31\00:04:11.28 as well as Good News TV. 00:04:11.28\00:04:13.11 And we know that you're typing in your Bible questions. 00:04:13.11\00:04:16.15 We're gonna take some time at the end of the program 00:04:16.15\00:04:18.25 to answer the written questions that have come in. 00:04:18.25\00:04:21.16 So welcome also those listening on satellite radio 00:04:21.16\00:04:23.93 and various radio stations, 00:04:23.93\00:04:26.16 and we're glad you're part of our program tonight. 00:04:26.16\00:04:28.26 Well, before we get to the Bible questions, 00:04:28.26\00:04:29.86 let's start with a word of prayer. 00:04:29.86\00:04:31.60 Dear Father, we thank you for your word. 00:04:31.60\00:04:33.13 We thank you for the opportunity to study the Bible, 00:04:33.13\00:04:35.30 and we do pray that your Spirit will come and guide us. 00:04:35.30\00:04:37.27 Be with those who are listening, Lord, 00:04:37.27\00:04:38.97 and lead us into a fuller and clearer understanding 00:04:38.97\00:04:41.54 of what the Bible says. 00:04:41.54\00:04:42.68 For we ask this in Jesus' name. Amen. 00:04:42.68\00:04:45.48 - Amen. 00:04:45.48\00:04:46.85 - Alright. Ready to go to our first call this evening. 00:04:46.85\00:04:48.58 We've got Tim listening from Michigan. 00:04:48.58\00:04:50.45 Tim, welcome to the program. Tim in Michigan. 00:04:50.45\00:04:54.49 Hi, Tim. You there? 00:04:56.16\00:04:57.09 - [Tim] Thank you. Yep. 00:04:57.09\00:04:58.79 - Hey, how can we help you tonight? 00:04:59.93\00:05:01.53 - [Tim] Well, a little while ago, 00:05:02.83\00:05:05.10 a fellow called in and asked if the rapture 00:05:05.10\00:05:07.90 and the Second Coming was the same thing, and you said yes. 00:05:07.90\00:05:12.81 And I was just wondering about that. 00:05:12.81\00:05:15.81 There's a couple, the Day of the Lord, 00:05:15.81\00:05:17.81 you gave him, 1 Thessalonians 4, 00:05:17.81\00:05:22.88 and this kinda refers to Zechariah's prophecy 00:05:23.99\00:05:27.52 when His feet touched the Mount of Olives. 00:05:27.52\00:05:30.16 I was wondering if there was a timeline between that, 00:05:30.16\00:05:32.79 between the rapture and what that prophecy was about. 00:05:32.79\00:05:37.83 - Yeah, the Bible tells us that there's actually a span 00:05:39.20\00:05:40.30 of about 1,000 years called the millennium. 00:05:40.30\00:05:43.74 The Bible refers to it as 1,000 years 00:05:43.74\00:05:46.34 between the first resurrection and the second resurrection. 00:05:46.34\00:05:49.68 Now, when Jesus' feet touch the Mount of Olives, 00:05:49.68\00:05:51.68 as you find in Zechariah 14:4, it says, 00:05:51.68\00:05:55.15 "His feet will stand on that day on the Mount of Olives, 00:05:55.15\00:05:57.52 which is before Jerusalem on the east, 00:05:57.52\00:05:59.49 and the Mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof." 00:05:59.49\00:06:02.16 Now, one reason you know this is not when Jesus comes 00:06:02.16\00:06:05.66 for the rapture, the Bible says during the rapture, 00:06:05.66\00:06:08.13 He doesn't touch the ground. 00:06:08.13\00:06:09.23 We are caught up to meet Him and He says, 00:06:09.23\00:06:12.00 "I will take you to the mansions that I prepared," 00:06:12.00\00:06:14.30 and that's John chapter 14, 00:06:14.30\00:06:16.14 but here He's actually touching the Earth, 00:06:16.14\00:06:18.04 so this is when He, some might call it the third coming, 00:06:18.04\00:06:20.61 He's coming back after the millennium 00:06:20.61\00:06:23.01 and his feet touch the Mount of Olives, 00:06:23.01\00:06:26.08 massive earthquake creates a great valley, 00:06:26.08\00:06:28.72 and the New Jerusalem actually settles in that valley. 00:06:28.72\00:06:32.02 Then later, and you read it also in this chapter, 00:06:32.02\00:06:34.36 the wicked launch an attack, 00:06:34.36\00:06:35.69 you see that also in Revelation 20, against the city of God 00:06:35.69\00:06:39.19 and fire comes down from God out of Heaven and devours them. 00:06:39.19\00:06:42.50 So yes, there is actually a 1,000 year 00:06:42.50\00:06:45.60 or the millennial period between His next coming 00:06:45.60\00:06:50.11 and this period at the end of the 1,000 years 00:06:50.11\00:06:53.48 in Zechariah 14. 00:06:53.48\00:06:55.41 - We do have a study guide that talks about the 1,000 years 00:06:55.41\00:06:58.15 spoken of in Revelation Chapter 20, 00:06:58.15\00:06:59.95 and we'll be happy to send this to you, Tim, 00:06:59.95\00:07:01.58 or anyone who calls and asks. 00:07:01.58\00:07:03.05 It's called "A Thousand Years of Peace." 00:07:03.05\00:07:05.75 And the number to call for that is 800-835-6747. 00:07:05.75\00:07:09.52 And again, you can ask for that study guide, 00:07:09.52\00:07:11.09 it's called "A Thousand Years of Peace." 00:07:11.09\00:07:13.03 If you have a Bible-related question, 00:07:13.03\00:07:14.73 the phone line here to the studio is 800-463-7297. 00:07:14.73\00:07:18.50 That'll get you on the program for tonight. 00:07:19.90\00:07:22.10 Next caller that we have, 00:07:22.10\00:07:23.14 we've got Marvins listening from Ontario. 00:07:23.14\00:07:26.98 Marvins, welcome. Montreal, rather. 00:07:26.98\00:07:29.38 - [Marvins] First of all, thank you, 00:07:29.38\00:07:33.48 for both of you for accommodating me 00:07:33.48\00:07:36.69 to ask you my questions. 00:07:36.69\00:07:39.12 - Yes. 00:07:39.12\00:07:40.12 - [Marvins] So my question is 00:07:40.12\00:07:42.09 when the door of probation will close? 00:07:42.09\00:07:45.43 - Okay, now for our friends listening, 00:07:46.53\00:07:48.80 when someone is talking about probation closing, 00:07:48.80\00:07:51.90 they're referring to a time 00:07:51.90\00:07:53.23 when life may still go on here briefly on Earth, 00:07:53.23\00:07:56.67 but the saved are all saved and the lost are all lost 00:07:56.67\00:07:59.24 and there's nobody changing teams anymore. 00:07:59.24\00:08:01.51 The people who are saved are sealed and saved. 00:08:01.51\00:08:03.81 Pastor Ross, there's that verse in Revelation 22 00:08:03.81\00:08:07.15 where he says, 00:08:07.15\00:08:08.22 "Those that are just let them be just still." 00:08:08.22\00:08:11.32 And I'll tell you about another passage that's in Genesis 00:08:11.32\00:08:15.86 when Noah was told with his family to enter into the arc. 00:08:15.86\00:08:20.03 He entered into the arc and God shut the door. 00:08:20.03\00:08:23.03 All of the animals and Noah 00:08:23.03\00:08:25.40 that were gonna be saved were in the arc. 00:08:25.40\00:08:27.10 The door was shut. 00:08:27.10\00:08:28.17 All of the lost were on the outside 00:08:28.17\00:08:29.50 and their destiny was sealed. 00:08:29.50\00:08:31.27 Life went on for a few more days. Seven days in this story. 00:08:31.27\00:08:35.01 And then the rains came. 00:08:35.01\00:08:36.44 So there may be a period of time, 00:08:36.44\00:08:38.45 a brief period just before Jesus comes 00:08:38.45\00:08:40.48 when all the saved are saved and all the lost are lost 00:08:40.48\00:08:42.62 and there's no changing sides anymore. 00:08:42.62\00:08:44.55 - Yeah, the verse he's referring to is Revelation 22:11. 00:08:44.55\00:08:47.42 It says, "He who is unjust, let him be unjust still; 00:08:47.42\00:08:50.29 he who is filthy, let him be filthy still; 00:08:50.29\00:08:52.73 he who is righteous, let him be righteous still; 00:08:52.73\00:08:55.13 he who is holy, let him be holy still." 00:08:55.13\00:08:57.47 And then the very next verse says, 00:08:57.47\00:08:58.77 "And behold, I am coming quickly, 00:08:58.77\00:09:01.04 and my reward is with Me, 00:09:01.04\00:09:02.10 to give to everyone according to his works." 00:09:02.10\00:09:04.41 So the close of probation here takes place 00:09:04.41\00:09:07.01 just before the Second Coming of Christ. 00:09:07.01\00:09:08.64 - Mm-hmm, and most people believe 00:09:08.64\00:09:10.65 that when the plagues begin to fall, that at that point, 00:09:10.65\00:09:14.82 the Holy Spirit has been withdrawn from the wicked. 00:09:14.82\00:09:17.72 And that's why they get kind of berserk 00:09:17.72\00:09:21.52 in their attempt to annihilate all Christians. 00:09:21.52\00:09:24.13 When the seven last plagues are falling, at that point, 00:09:24.13\00:09:26.80 we believe the saved are saved and the lost are lost 00:09:26.80\00:09:28.96 and probation is closed. 00:09:28.96\00:09:30.73 - Okay, thank you for your call. 00:09:30.73\00:09:32.40 Maidellyn is listening from Kansas. 00:09:32.40\00:09:34.87 Maidellyn, welcome to the program. 00:09:34.87\00:09:37.41 - [Maidellyn] Thank you. 00:09:37.41\00:09:38.47 Thank you so much for answering my call. 00:09:38.47\00:09:39.61 I really appreciate it and I love your show. 00:09:39.61\00:09:41.88 - Well, thank you. 00:09:41.88\00:09:42.84 - [Maidellyn] Okay, so I've got a quick-ish question. 00:09:44.21\00:09:46.95 So in the Book of Ezra Chapter 10, 00:09:46.95\00:09:50.19 I don't know exactly how to word it. 00:09:51.25\00:09:52.75 The lady who took my call, she helped me a bit. 00:09:52.75\00:09:55.09 I know how I feel about it 00:09:55.09\00:09:56.62 and that's the confusion regarding it. 00:09:56.62\00:09:59.63 So the foreign women and children, 00:09:59.63\00:10:01.93 they were to be dismissed from the congregation. 00:10:01.93\00:10:04.53 Apparently, the Jewish men were not supposed to do this. 00:10:04.53\00:10:07.20 They took foreign women, et cetera. 00:10:07.20\00:10:09.64 But my question is, was there no provision? 00:10:09.64\00:10:12.21 No way for those women, 00:10:12.21\00:10:13.98 the ones who accepted Yahweh as their own God? 00:10:13.98\00:10:16.68 I mean, we do see examples of Ruth and Rahab. 00:10:16.68\00:10:20.25 Why did these women have to be dismissed? 00:10:20.25\00:10:22.62 I mean, I guess I know why. 00:10:22.62\00:10:24.22 The real question is, 00:10:24.22\00:10:25.52 was there a way that they could have been allowed to stay 00:10:25.52\00:10:29.16 and not been sent away? 00:10:29.16\00:10:30.76 - Yeah, this is a difficult passage. 00:10:31.89\00:10:33.83 And just for our friends that are listening, 00:10:33.83\00:10:35.93 you find this in Ezra Chapter 10 and it talks about it in, 00:10:35.93\00:10:40.47 well, it mentions them by name when you get to Verse 18, 00:10:40.47\00:10:43.91 but the whole reason they'd been carried off into captivity 00:10:43.91\00:10:47.01 is they had compromised their beliefs 00:10:47.01\00:10:48.58 and stopped worshiping God and began to worship idols. 00:10:48.58\00:10:51.28 So now after learning their lesson, 70 years, 00:10:51.28\00:10:53.58 they come back to rebuild the temple, rebuild the city, 00:10:53.58\00:10:56.72 and the leaders start to marry pagan wives again. 00:10:56.72\00:11:00.72 And Ezra's going, "This is how we got into trouble." 00:11:00.72\00:11:03.53 Now, these are pagan wives 00:11:03.53\00:11:04.76 that are still worshiping pagan gods. 00:11:04.76\00:11:06.43 It's kinda like Ahab was influenced by Jezebel. 00:11:06.43\00:11:09.70 Ruth had accepted the God of Naomi 00:11:09.70\00:11:12.47 and Rahab had accepted the God of Salmon and the other spy. 00:11:12.47\00:11:16.17 Well, there's two spies. 00:11:16.17\00:11:17.27 We think one of them was named Salmon. 00:11:17.27\00:11:18.37 It doesn't tell us in the passage 00:11:18.37\00:11:19.77 that these wives had accepted Jehovah, so that's one thing. 00:11:19.77\00:11:25.08 Another thing is if they were told to put them away, 00:11:25.08\00:11:27.38 keep in mind, Abraham was told to put away Hagar, 00:11:27.38\00:11:30.65 but he gave her an allowance when he put her away. 00:11:30.65\00:11:35.06 They call that alimony today or some support, 00:11:35.06\00:11:37.46 but it was causing all kinds of havoc in the family. 00:11:38.79\00:11:42.06 This was a very drastic measure 00:11:42.06\00:11:44.30 because the whole nation was at the point of a new birth 00:11:44.30\00:11:47.54 and the new birth was gonna be destroyed 00:11:47.54\00:11:50.11 by these intermarriages with pagans once again, 00:11:50.11\00:11:52.34 so they took pretty drastic measures. 00:11:52.34\00:11:54.18 - Alright, well, thank you for your call. 00:11:55.41\00:11:56.91 - Thank you, Maidellyn. Hope that helps a little bit. 00:11:56.91\00:11:59.05 - We've got Syd listening from Maryland. 00:11:59.05\00:12:00.95 Syd, welcome to the program. 00:12:00.95\00:12:02.82 - [Syd] Hi, how are you? 00:12:02.82\00:12:04.42 - Good. Thanks for calling. 00:12:04.42\00:12:06.05 - [Syd] So my question is why were people getting baptized 00:12:06.05\00:12:09.92 before Jesus got baptized? 00:12:09.92\00:12:11.89 Because when people get baptized now, 00:12:11.89\00:12:14.03 they say that you are taking a stand for Jesus. 00:12:14.03\00:12:16.73 And by getting baptized, 00:12:16.73\00:12:18.20 Jesus set an example for His followers. 00:12:18.20\00:12:21.17 - Well, the first baptism was called the Baptism of John, 00:12:21.17\00:12:24.81 which was a baptism of repentance. 00:12:24.81\00:12:27.24 So John the Baptist was not saying, 00:12:27.24\00:12:28.91 "I baptize you in the name of the Father, Son, 00:12:28.91\00:12:30.91 and Holy Spirit," 00:12:30.91\00:12:31.98 John the Baptist was not saying, 00:12:31.98\00:12:33.28 "I baptize you in the name of Jesus." 00:12:33.28\00:12:35.42 John was baptizing them in the name of Jehovah 00:12:35.42\00:12:38.69 to just have a repentance and a return to God. 00:12:39.99\00:12:42.22 An example of this is found in Acts Chapter 19. 00:12:42.22\00:12:46.29 Paul meets 12 Ephesian believers 00:12:46.29\00:12:49.16 and he's preaching about Jesus and they said, 00:12:49.16\00:12:50.93 "Well, we haven't heard about this." 00:12:50.93\00:12:52.43 He says, "Well, have you heard about the Holy Spirit?" 00:12:52.43\00:12:54.24 And they said, "We didn't know if there was a Holy Spirit." 00:12:54.24\00:12:57.44 And Paul says, "Into what then were you baptized?" 00:12:57.44\00:12:59.57 They said, "John's baptism," meaning John the Baptist. 00:12:59.57\00:13:02.58 So John baptized for probably a year and a half 00:13:02.58\00:13:05.05 before he identified Jesus as the Lamb of God. 00:13:05.05\00:13:08.95 John then continued with his disciples to baptize 00:13:08.95\00:13:11.45 until he was arrested, 00:13:11.45\00:13:12.55 probably only about six months after that. 00:13:12.55\00:13:15.76 And so am I answering your question, Syd, 00:13:15.76\00:13:18.63 about what was the distinction there? 00:13:18.63\00:13:20.86 - [Syd] Yes. 00:13:21.90\00:13:23.33 - Okay, very good. 00:13:23.33\00:13:24.83 Yeah, so then once John recognized Jesus as the Lamb of 00:13:24.83\00:13:28.20 God, John said, "He must increase, I must decrease." 00:13:28.20\00:13:30.81 He had done his work, calling the nation to repentance. 00:13:30.81\00:13:34.08 The people were turning back to God 00:13:34.08\00:13:35.61 and then he kinda did a handoff to Jesus. 00:13:35.61\00:13:38.41 - Talking about baptism, it's an important subject, 00:13:38.41\00:13:40.85 Pastor Doug, and the Bible has a lot to say about it. 00:13:40.85\00:13:42.68 We have a book that's called 00:13:42.68\00:13:43.79 "Baptism: Is it Really Necessary?" 00:13:43.79\00:13:46.52 Again, there's sort of divided opinion today, 00:13:46.52\00:13:48.52 even amongst Christians as to baptism. 00:13:48.52\00:13:50.53 When is the person to be baptized? 00:13:50.53\00:13:52.36 Is it really necessary for salvation? 00:13:52.36\00:13:54.36 - How to do it? 00:13:54.36\00:13:55.93 What name? The whole thing. 00:13:55.93\00:13:57.80 - A lot of confusion, so we'll be happy to send this book 00:13:57.80\00:14:00.04 to anyone who calls and asks. 00:14:00.04\00:14:01.40 It's called "Baptism: Is it Really Necessary?" 00:14:01.40\00:14:04.11 The number to call for that is 800-835-6747. 00:14:04.11\00:14:07.98 And if you're in North America, 00:14:07.98\00:14:09.08 we'll get it in the mail, send it to you. 00:14:09.08\00:14:10.21 If you're outside of North America, 00:14:10.21\00:14:12.55 you can read it by going to the Amazing Facts website, 00:14:12.55\00:14:15.28 just amazingfacts.org. 00:14:15.28\00:14:16.82 And of course, if you're in North America, 00:14:16.82\00:14:18.62 you can also go to the website 00:14:18.62\00:14:19.95 and you'll be able to read it there. 00:14:19.95\00:14:21.56 Thanks for your call. 00:14:21.56\00:14:22.92 We've got, let's see, Angela is calling from Illinois. 00:14:22.92\00:14:26.16 Angela, welcome to the program. 00:14:26.16\00:14:28.03 - [Angela] Hi. - Hi. 00:14:28.03\00:14:29.30 - [Angela] I have a question. 00:14:29.30\00:14:30.67 In the New Testament, was it the Pharisees or the Sadducees 00:14:30.67\00:14:34.57 that did the sacrifices? 00:14:34.57\00:14:36.10 I know that in the Old Testament, 00:14:36.10\00:14:38.71 the Levites were through Aaron from the heritage. 00:14:38.71\00:14:43.28 And then I have a follow-up. 00:14:44.51\00:14:46.68 After Christ's death, 00:14:46.68\00:14:48.32 was sacrifices still being conducted? 00:14:48.32\00:14:51.75 Because, of course, he was the sacrifice, 00:14:51.75\00:14:53.32 but I just read that 00:14:53.32\00:14:55.32 and I'm just wondering what your thoughts are. 00:14:55.32\00:14:57.29 - Yeah, good questions. 00:14:57.29\00:14:58.69 Alright, let's see if we can, 00:14:58.69\00:15:00.13 I think we can answer both of those pretty quickly. 00:15:00.13\00:15:02.46 As far as the Pharisees and Sadducees, 00:15:02.46\00:15:04.87 neither the Pharisees and Sadducees 00:15:04.87\00:15:06.84 really served in the temple to offer sacrifice. 00:15:06.84\00:15:11.91 You could be a Pharisee, but you had to be a Levite. 00:15:13.61\00:15:16.58 Now, you can have a Levite that was a Pharisee, 00:15:16.58\00:15:18.95 meaning that the Pharisees were the devoted ones. 00:15:18.95\00:15:23.08 They were consecrated in a special way. 00:15:23.08\00:15:25.62 They weren't going to pollute themselves with paganism. 00:15:25.62\00:15:28.79 Now, there were some Levites 00:15:28.79\00:15:29.89 that also followed the Pharisee rules, 00:15:29.89\00:15:32.63 but you could be a Pharisee and not a Levite 00:15:32.63\00:15:35.03 like Paul was a Benjamite, so Paul never offered sacrifice. 00:15:35.03\00:15:38.37 Same thing with the Sadducees. 00:15:38.37\00:15:40.17 But many of the Sadducees were from the priestly family, 00:15:40.17\00:15:43.54 like Caiaphas, so here they are offering sacrifice, 00:15:43.54\00:15:46.57 but some of them didn't even believe in angels 00:15:46.57\00:15:48.68 or resurrection, which is really pathetic. 00:15:48.68\00:15:51.01 At the time of Christ, 00:15:51.01\00:15:52.15 the church had fallen pretty, pretty badly. 00:15:52.15\00:15:55.32 And the second part of your question, 00:15:55.32\00:15:57.02 did they still sacrifice after Jesus died on the cross? 00:15:57.02\00:16:00.32 Well, the veil was rent when Jesus died on the cross. 00:16:00.32\00:16:04.46 They probably had to repair the veil, 00:16:04.46\00:16:07.13 but they probably re-instituted the form of a sacrifice 00:16:07.13\00:16:11.37 up until the temple was destroyed by the Romans. 00:16:11.37\00:16:14.74 - There's another verse talking about that, Pastor Doug, 00:16:14.74\00:16:16.84 when Jesus left the temple for the last time, 00:16:16.84\00:16:19.47 he said to the religious leaders and to the Jews, 00:16:19.47\00:16:21.61 "Your house is left to you desolate," 00:16:21.61\00:16:23.91 meaning that he had disowned the sanctuary 00:16:23.91\00:16:26.28 and thus the sacrificial service 00:16:26.28\00:16:28.15 'cause he was the Lamb of God. 00:16:28.15\00:16:29.68 And then there's a prophecy 00:16:29.68\00:16:30.55 that you find in Daniel Chapter 9 00:16:30.55\00:16:33.22 that's talking about Christ the Messiah and it says, 00:16:33.22\00:16:35.49 "He will put an end to sacrifices," 00:16:35.49\00:16:37.96 and it's talking about His death. 00:16:37.96\00:16:39.53 So there's a number of Old Testament passages 00:16:39.53\00:16:41.30 and also in the New Testament 00:16:41.30\00:16:42.80 that said at the death of Christ, 00:16:42.80\00:16:43.90 there was no need for a sacrifice. 00:16:43.90\00:16:45.93 Jesus was the Lamb of God 00:16:45.93\00:16:47.70 that takes away the sins of the world. 00:16:47.70\00:16:49.04 - Right, so but they still probably went through the form 00:16:49.04\00:16:51.64 of a sacrificial system until the temple was destroyed, 00:16:51.64\00:16:53.91 but it was meaningless at that point. 00:16:53.91\00:16:56.18 Thank you. I appreciate your call. 00:16:56.18\00:16:58.15 - Next caller that we have is Robert 00:16:58.15\00:16:59.45 listening from New Jersey. 00:16:59.45\00:17:01.38 Robert, are you there? 00:17:02.22\00:17:04.29 - [Robert] Yeah, good evening, Pastor. Can you hear me? 00:17:04.29\00:17:06.89 - Yes. 00:17:06.89\00:17:08.19 - [Robert] Okay, great. 00:17:08.19\00:17:09.42 My question's concerning 00:17:10.33\00:17:12.16 what's the first lie recorded in the Bible? 00:17:12.16\00:17:14.93 Now, this says on the full amend, which is Genesis 3, 00:17:14.93\00:17:19.33 I think it's 3:4, where the serpent says to the woman, 00:17:23.07\00:17:27.34 "You will not surely not die..." 00:17:27.34\00:17:29.38 That's usually considered the first lie that was a recorded. 00:17:29.38\00:17:33.52 But then somebody pointed something out, 00:17:33.52\00:17:36.08 when she was having a discussion with the serpent, 00:17:36.08\00:17:39.42 "You must not eat from the fruit of the trees," 00:17:40.52\00:17:41.92 this is Genesis 3:4 I believe, or 3:3 00:17:41.92\00:17:46.59 "You must not eat fruit from the three. 00:17:46.59\00:17:51.17 You must not even touch it or you will die." 00:17:51.17\00:17:53.57 We don't hear God saying it to Adam, 00:17:56.10\00:17:58.41 so did she make that up 00:17:58.41\00:18:01.28 or was that added on later 00:18:01.28\00:18:03.31 or did she get confused? 00:18:04.31\00:18:06.58 What would that be? Was she lying? 00:18:06.58\00:18:10.89 - Okay, yeah, it sounds like Eve is adding something 00:18:10.89\00:18:14.32 to the instruction that you see earlier 00:18:14.32\00:18:16.56 where God says, "You're not to eat from the tree." 00:18:16.56\00:18:19.09 And I don't think Eve made it up 00:18:19.09\00:18:21.36 because there was no sin until she ate the forbidden fruit. 00:18:21.36\00:18:25.03 Her heart was pure and innocent. 00:18:25.03\00:18:26.17 She had no reason to lie or deceive. 00:18:26.17\00:18:28.27 I think she was expanding on 00:18:28.27\00:18:30.21 or rather I think she was giving more information 00:18:30.21\00:18:32.91 on what God had told Adam and Eve. 00:18:32.91\00:18:34.71 Keep in mind, the Bible is summarizing. 00:18:34.71\00:18:37.01 I'm sure that God said many things to Adam. 00:18:37.01\00:18:39.48 The Bible tells us God and Adam spent that day together 00:18:39.48\00:18:42.28 naming all the animals, 00:18:42.28\00:18:43.62 so I'm sure there were many things that God said. 00:18:43.62\00:18:46.65 The way that it's first recorded for us 00:18:47.72\00:18:49.39 is God says don't eat from it. 00:18:49.39\00:18:50.99 When you hear from Eve, 00:18:50.99\00:18:52.13 we realize God not only said don't eat from it, 00:18:52.13\00:18:54.20 he said don't touch it, so you stay away from it. 00:18:54.20\00:18:57.30 Of course, touching it led to eating from it. 00:18:57.30\00:18:59.63 The reason you would touch the fruit 00:19:01.67\00:19:02.80 is because you wanted to pick it and eat it. 00:19:02.80\00:19:04.71 So I think that there's not a lie involved 00:19:04.71\00:19:07.18 on Eve's part there. 00:19:07.18\00:19:08.21 I think she's absolutely sincere 00:19:08.21\00:19:09.61 when she's talking to the serpent. 00:19:09.61\00:19:11.98 - Alright. - Thank you. 00:19:11.98\00:19:13.25 - We've got Abdiel listening from Florida. 00:19:13.25\00:19:16.42 Abdiel, welcome to the program. 00:19:16.42\00:19:18.32 - [Abdiel] Hi, thank you for having me. How are you guys? 00:19:18.32\00:19:20.72 - Good. Thanks for calling. 00:19:20.72\00:19:22.39 - [Abdiel] Thank you. 00:19:22.39\00:19:23.26 So I just have a quick thank you. 00:19:23.26\00:19:25.26 So I found your program in December 00:19:25.26\00:19:27.66 and it's made a big difference. 00:19:27.66\00:19:29.76 - Well, praise the Lord. 00:19:29.76\00:19:31.57 - [Abdiel] I had a question. I'm in Luke. 00:19:31.57\00:19:34.90 So in Luke, it seems like there's a very earnest man 00:19:34.90\00:19:39.07 called Simeon and it seems like he already knows 00:19:39.07\00:19:42.31 that the Messiah is coming in his lifetime. 00:19:42.31\00:19:44.91 And I think there's a couple others 00:19:45.98\00:19:47.35 that that could have happened to, maybe like Anna, I hear. 00:19:47.35\00:19:50.62 So I guess the question is for both of you, 00:19:51.69\00:19:56.02 Jean Ross and Pastor Doug, 00:19:56.02\00:19:57.79 so is it possible to have that kind of relationship 00:19:59.33\00:20:04.37 with Jesus today if you're diligent 00:20:05.47\00:20:08.40 that He can tell you basically like, "Hey," 00:20:08.40\00:20:12.14 He might not tell you a date, 00:20:12.14\00:20:13.54 but He can tell you like in your lifetime or something, 00:20:13.54\00:20:17.18 so I'm not really sure how that goes. 00:20:17.18\00:20:19.31 - Yeah, it seems like the Lord, of course, 00:20:19.31\00:20:21.65 gave a divine revelation to the shepherds 00:20:21.65\00:20:24.69 about Jesus' coming and there was a divine revelation 00:20:24.69\00:20:27.19 that was given to the Wise Men of Christ's coming. 00:20:27.19\00:20:31.73 And then Simeon said the Lord had told him 00:20:31.73\00:20:34.46 that "You'll not taste death until you see it." 00:20:34.46\00:20:38.13 And he said, "Now let your servant depart in peace 00:20:38.13\00:20:40.57 where I've seen his salvation." 00:20:40.57\00:20:42.14 Could that happen again before the Second Coming? 00:20:42.14\00:20:44.57 God is not restricted. 00:20:45.47\00:20:46.98 The Lord could impress anybody that you're not gonna die 00:20:46.98\00:20:50.95 before you see these things be fulfilled. 00:20:50.95\00:20:53.28 That would not replace Scripture. 00:20:53.28\00:20:55.22 And God is not gonna give the day and the hour to anybody 00:20:55.22\00:20:58.22 because Jesus is very clear: 00:20:58.22\00:20:59.95 no man knows the day or the hour. 00:20:59.95\00:21:01.89 But can God give an impression? 00:21:01.89\00:21:03.69 Sure, He's the Lord. He's not restricted. 00:21:04.83\00:21:07.76 And even after Jesus ascended to Heaven, 00:21:07.76\00:21:10.63 He appeared to Paul and to some others. 00:21:10.63\00:21:13.77 And so Jesus still communicates with people today. 00:21:13.77\00:21:17.54 - You mentioned Simeon, as well as Anna. 00:21:17.54\00:21:19.74 She was also the one that confessed Christ 00:21:19.74\00:21:22.91 to be the Messiah as a baby. 00:21:22.91\00:21:24.78 The Bible does tell us in Luke 2:36 00:21:24.78\00:21:27.15 that Anna was a prophetess. 00:21:27.15\00:21:28.68 So God had spoken to her through dreams or visions, 00:21:28.68\00:21:32.52 but either way, whether it was through a direct revelation 00:21:32.52\00:21:35.69 or through the prompting of the Holy Spirit, 00:21:35.69\00:21:38.19 these two individuals had a very special, 00:21:38.19\00:21:40.43 very close connection and communion with God. 00:21:40.43\00:21:44.37 And of course, their hope, especially for Simeon, 00:21:44.37\00:21:46.33 was, "Lord, let me see the promised Messiah before I die," 00:21:46.33\00:21:50.24 and God honored that and he got to see baby Jesus. 00:21:50.24\00:21:52.71 - That's right. Amen. 00:21:52.71\00:21:54.58 Well, thank you. Hope that helps a little, Abdiel. 00:21:54.58\00:21:56.34 Appreciate your call and encourage you to keep listening. 00:21:56.34\00:21:59.38 - We've got Karen listening in Texas. 00:21:59.38\00:22:00.68 Karen, welcome to the program. 00:22:00.68\00:22:02.15 - [Karen] Thank you. 00:22:02.15\00:22:03.85 Okay, my question is I had heard that Jesus wasn't born 00:22:03.85\00:22:08.92 in just a regular barn, 00:22:10.26\00:22:12.59 but that He was born in the special barn 00:22:14.30\00:22:18.73 where the perfect sheep was taken care of 00:22:19.77\00:22:24.61 before they were going to be used for a sacrifice. 00:22:25.97\00:22:28.91 - Okay, and you wanted to know 00:22:30.28\00:22:31.71 what the Bible says about that? 00:22:31.71\00:22:33.31 - [Karen] Yes. Had you heard that? 00:22:34.42\00:22:36.79 - I had not heard that. 00:22:36.79\00:22:38.15 I've heard several things about some people 00:22:38.15\00:22:41.52 that try to extrapolate on giving more details 00:22:41.52\00:22:44.63 about the birth of Jesus, 00:22:44.63\00:22:46.46 but the Bible simply says that she brought forth 00:22:46.46\00:22:49.80 her firstborn Son and called His name Jesus 00:22:49.80\00:22:53.23 and they laid Him, they wrapped Him in swaddling clothes 00:22:53.23\00:22:56.57 and they laid Him in a manger 00:22:56.57\00:22:58.44 because there was no room in the inn. 00:22:58.44\00:23:00.74 So the assumption is a manger is a trough 00:23:00.74\00:23:04.81 in which you feed animals. 00:23:04.81\00:23:07.28 And it's interesting. 00:23:07.28\00:23:08.08 A trough is where you hold grain 00:23:08.08\00:23:10.52 and Jesus who is the Bread of Life 00:23:10.52\00:23:13.22 was placed in a bread basket, you might say. 00:23:13.22\00:23:15.19 And He was born in a town called Bethlehem 00:23:15.19\00:23:17.33 and the word Bethlehem means "house of bread." 00:23:17.33\00:23:19.79 So here you have the Bread of Life, put in a bread basket, 00:23:19.79\00:23:22.56 born in a town that is called the "house of bread," 00:23:22.56\00:23:25.03 and that in itself is interesting. 00:23:25.03\00:23:27.14 The other thing is that this is sort of a reverse 00:23:27.14\00:23:31.47 of what happened at the death of Jesus. 00:23:31.47\00:23:33.81 The birth of Jesus, He enters the world, 00:23:33.81\00:23:35.98 the troughs they used, 00:23:35.98\00:23:38.65 the mangers they used for food, 00:23:38.65\00:23:41.02 in spite of what you might see Christmastime on a corner, 00:23:41.02\00:23:43.99 they usually carved them out of stone. 00:23:43.99\00:23:46.59 A donkey will chew up a wooden trough... 00:23:46.59\00:23:48.82 I used to have horses. 00:23:48.82\00:23:50.56 So they carved them out of stone 00:23:50.56\00:23:52.33 and the manger could have been located in a cave. 00:23:52.33\00:23:56.63 Around Bethlehem, it's a very rocky country, 00:23:56.63\00:23:58.50 and a lot of people say it wasn't a barn 00:23:58.50\00:24:00.04 as you think of on the East Coast of the US, 00:24:00.04\00:24:02.80 they got these big red barns, 00:24:02.80\00:24:04.41 but it was probably more like a cave 00:24:04.41\00:24:06.07 where the animals would stay out of the rain. 00:24:06.07\00:24:09.01 And so some have wondered, 00:24:09.01\00:24:10.81 isn't that interesting that when Jesus entered the world, 00:24:10.81\00:24:14.32 He was placed in a stone box and wrapped in cloth 00:24:14.32\00:24:19.29 and He came to life. 00:24:19.29\00:24:20.62 At the end of His life, He's placed in a virgin tomb 00:24:20.62\00:24:24.39 that had never been used before, 00:24:24.39\00:24:25.59 Jesus was put in a virgin womb, 00:24:25.59\00:24:28.23 and that He was wrapped in cloth. 00:24:28.23\00:24:30.80 There's a Joseph at the birth of Jesus 00:24:30.80\00:24:32.83 and there's a Joseph at the death of Jesus. 00:24:32.83\00:24:34.94 And it's kind of interesting. 00:24:34.94\00:24:37.37 I doubt it was a typical barn. It may have been a cave. 00:24:38.67\00:24:41.04 It may have been a shed where the animals were protected. 00:24:41.04\00:24:44.55 The Bible doesn't say, 00:24:44.55\00:24:45.88 so everything anyone says about it is pure speculation. 00:24:45.88\00:24:48.95 - [Karen] Go into detail. 00:24:50.55\00:24:52.05 - Yeah, the Bible gives very little detail. 00:24:52.05\00:24:54.09 Just says she brought forth her Son 00:24:54.09\00:24:55.62 and they placed Him in a manger 00:24:55.62\00:24:56.96 because there was no room in the inn. 00:24:56.96\00:24:59.63 Hey, thank you, Karen. 00:24:59.63\00:25:00.50 We sure appreciate your calling 00:25:00.50\00:25:01.63 and hope you call back again. 00:25:01.63\00:25:03.16 - Do we have time for one more caller 00:25:04.53\00:25:05.97 before we hit the break? 00:25:05.97\00:25:07.07 - If we, yeah, get a quick question maybe. 00:25:07.07\00:25:08.10 - Let's go to Bradley in Arizona. 00:25:08.10\00:25:10.21 Bradley, welcome to the program. 00:25:10.21\00:25:11.57 We have about a minute and a half before the break. 00:25:11.57\00:25:13.94 - [Bradley] Hi. On Revelation 22:2- 00:25:15.04\00:25:18.35 my question is if we're in Heaven 00:25:18.35\00:25:20.18 and we have glorified bodies 00:25:20.18\00:25:21.55 and we have access to the Tree of Life, 00:25:21.55\00:25:23.69 why do we need the leaves for the healing of the nations? 00:25:23.69\00:25:26.86 - Yeah, and it actually says in Ezekiel 00:25:26.86\00:25:28.82 and the leaves of the tree are for medicine. 00:25:28.82\00:25:31.43 Why would we need medicine? 00:25:31.43\00:25:33.43 Well, the way it's worded here in Revelation, 00:25:33.43\00:25:35.63 it doesn't say the leaves of the tree 00:25:35.63\00:25:37.27 are for the healing of sickness. 00:25:37.27\00:25:38.60 It's the healing of nations. 00:25:38.60\00:25:40.97 And now here in this world, people are all divided 00:25:40.97\00:25:43.81 by their languages and their cultures and their races. 00:25:43.81\00:25:47.54 And in Heaven, those divisions will not exist. 00:25:48.84\00:25:50.61 As we all gather under that massive Tree of Life, 00:25:50.61\00:25:53.48 under its shimmering leaves 00:25:54.28\00:25:56.12 and eat from that fruit that helps perpetuate life, 00:25:56.12\00:25:59.55 that all of the divisions that have separated the nations 00:25:59.55\00:26:02.16 here in this world will be dissolved. 00:26:02.16\00:26:05.09 And so it almost makes it sound like 00:26:05.09\00:26:06.70 it's the healing of the nations. 00:26:06.70\00:26:08.33 There's gonna be no sickness in the Kingdom. 00:26:08.33\00:26:10.97 And there may be some... 00:26:10.97\00:26:13.03 Not healing, is not the right word, 00:26:14.77\00:26:16.04 but there might be some vitalizing power to the leaves. 00:26:16.04\00:26:19.01 What happened to Popeye when he ate spinach? 00:26:20.18\00:26:22.84 So you can't rule it out. 00:26:22.84\00:26:25.91 I think every part of the tree's gonna be edible. 00:26:25.91\00:26:28.52 So they say they got that, what is it, 00:26:28.52\00:26:30.82 the Baobab tree there in Africa and Australia 00:26:30.82\00:26:33.52 that you can eat its fruit. 00:26:33.52\00:26:35.59 You can eat its sap. 00:26:35.59\00:26:37.03 You can eat its leaves when they're young. 00:26:37.03\00:26:38.59 They're like spinach. 00:26:38.59\00:26:39.73 They say just every part of it is a tree of life. 00:26:39.73\00:26:42.13 So I don't know, that might be the answer, Tim. 00:26:42.13\00:26:44.50 Anyway, hey, thank you very much for your question. 00:26:44.50\00:26:46.13 Don't go away, friends. 00:26:46.13\00:26:47.00 We're gonna take a break 00:26:47.00\00:26:48.10 and we're gonna come back in a few moments. 00:26:48.10\00:26:49.87 We've got more questions lined up. 00:26:49.87\00:26:51.94 We see those of you who are standing in line. 00:26:51.94\00:26:54.68 Hang on and endure to the end. 00:26:54.68\00:26:56.95 We'll get to your phone calls. 00:26:56.95\00:26:59.15 (bright/ grand music) 00:26:59.15\00:27:02.52 - [Narrator] Stay tuned. 00:27:02.52\00:27:03.65 "Bible Answers Live" will return shortly. 00:27:03.65\00:27:06.05 Find out what the critics are raving about. 00:27:10.43\00:27:13.13 Top scholars and theologians from around the country 00:27:13.13\00:27:15.86 come together to reveal the hidden history 00:27:15.86\00:27:18.00 of the Book of Revelation. 00:27:18.00\00:27:19.63 With powerful reenactments and incredible visual effects, 00:27:20.97\00:27:23.71 this 95-minute masterpiece brings to life 00:27:23.71\00:27:26.31 the Book of Revelation like never before. 00:27:26.31\00:27:29.31 Revelation is no longer a mystery. How can we help you? 00:30:27.99\00:30:29.39 - [Faye] I was just wondering 00:30:29.39\00:30:31.13 if you could kind of explain the Antichrist. 00:30:31.13\00:30:33.93 - We'll do our best. 00:30:36.80\00:30:38.07 - [Faye] Like what exactly it is? Yeah. 00:30:38.07\00:30:39.87 And then like other religions, 00:30:39.87\00:30:44.61 different churches being in Heaven, different religions. 00:30:44.61\00:30:48.04 - Okay. Yeah, well, first of all, will there be, 00:30:48.04\00:30:51.58 well, I believe there'll be Christians 00:30:51.58\00:30:54.12 from many denominations in the Kingdom. 00:30:54.12\00:30:55.95 So the idea that only one denomination 00:30:55.95\00:30:58.55 has a copyright on the Kingdom of Heaven... 00:30:58.55\00:31:02.22 I do think it matters what you believe, 00:31:02.22\00:31:04.16 but I think that God has sincere people 00:31:04.16\00:31:06.09 that are in many Christian persuasions. 00:31:06.09\00:31:10.27 On the first question about the Antichrist, 00:31:10.27\00:31:12.90 now, you find the word Antichrist five times in the 00:31:12.90\00:31:16.27 Bible. Interestingly, it is not found at all 00:31:16.27\00:31:18.41 in Revelation or Daniel. 00:31:18.41\00:31:20.18 It's found in 1 John four times, 00:31:20.18\00:31:22.71 the first letter of John. 00:31:22.71\00:31:23.51 And in 2 John, it's found once. 00:31:23.51\00:31:25.88 And notice what he says here: 00:31:25.88\00:31:28.08 It tells us that "My little children..." this is 1 John, 00:31:28.08\00:31:32.72 let me see, this is Verse 18 of Chapter two, 1 John 2:18: 00:31:32.72\00:31:37.69 "Little children, it is the last hour; 00:31:37.69\00:31:39.66 and you've heard that Antichrist is coming, 00:31:39.66\00:31:42.30 even now many antichrists have come, 00:31:42.30\00:31:46.77 by which we know it's the last hour." 00:31:46.77\00:31:48.57 An antichrist means against or opposed to. 00:31:50.41\00:31:53.58 So there were leaders back then, 00:31:53.58\00:31:55.21 powerful leaders that were opposed to Christ. 00:31:55.21\00:31:57.51 One of them actually put John in boiling oil 00:31:57.51\00:32:00.15 and miraculously survived. 00:32:00.15\00:32:02.68 But the main antichrist that we find 00:32:02.68\00:32:05.69 that is this little horn power from Daniel 7 and 8 and 11, 00:32:05.69\00:32:09.89 that has been identified. 00:32:15.60\00:32:17.33 Most Protestant Christians identified that with the papacy. 00:32:18.63\00:32:22.57 And I know folks are shocked to hear that, 00:32:22.57\00:32:23.91 but I'm just telling you that if you look at John Wesley 00:32:23.91\00:32:28.11 and John Calvin, Martin Luther, Charles Spurgeon, 00:32:28.11\00:32:32.01 you just kinda go up through the history 00:32:32.01\00:32:33.92 of the great Protestant preachers. 00:32:33.92\00:32:35.25 They said you cannot escape that beast power that you find, 00:32:35.25\00:32:39.49 for example, if you look in Revelation Chapter 17, 00:32:39.49\00:32:42.06 it talks about a woman, and that's a church, 00:32:42.06\00:32:45.19 that has become unfaithful, 00:32:45.19\00:32:47.60 sits among seven hills, Rome is the city of seven hills, 00:32:47.60\00:32:51.00 has a golden cup in her hand, 00:32:51.00\00:32:52.57 the golden chalice for the mass 00:32:52.57\00:32:54.34 is considered the most sacred vessel. 00:32:54.34\00:32:55.94 And they looked at Chapter 17 of Revelation by itself 00:32:55.94\00:32:59.67 and they said, "This is that antichrist power." 00:32:59.67\00:33:03.21 So I know that sounds like hate speech, 00:33:03.21\00:33:07.12 but I'm just telling you what the Protestants, 00:33:07.12\00:33:09.85 how they interpreted prophecy. 00:33:09.85\00:33:11.82 We have a lesson on that. 00:33:11.82\00:33:14.02 - We do. It's called "Who is the Antichrist?" 00:33:14.02\00:33:16.39 And I think Faye, you'd enjoy it, 00:33:16.39\00:33:17.69 or anyone wanting to learn more about what the Bible says, 00:33:17.69\00:33:19.63 this is pretty deep prophecy, so it's important though. 00:33:19.63\00:33:23.53 And the Bible talks about these various powers 00:33:23.53\00:33:26.07 and kingdoms and countries in the last days. 00:33:26.07\00:33:28.74 We'll be happy to send this to anyone who calls and asks. 00:33:28.74\00:33:30.97 The number to call is 800-835-6747. 00:33:30.97\00:33:34.61 You can ask for the study guide. 00:33:34.61\00:33:35.68 It's called "Who is the Antichrist?" 00:33:35.68\00:33:37.58 And we'll send that to anyone who calls and asks. 00:33:37.58\00:33:40.65 Next caller that we have is Daniel listening in Colorado. 00:33:40.65\00:33:43.45 Daniel, welcome to the program. 00:33:43.45\00:33:45.35 - [Daniel] Hi, I have a question. 00:33:46.69\00:33:50.99 How do we know if the dinosaurs were dead in Noah's flood? 00:33:50.99\00:33:56.03 - Okay. 00:33:58.23\00:33:59.03 Now, we know a lot of animals died, not just dinosaurs, 00:34:00.44\00:34:03.77 but lions and tigers and bears died in Noah's flood. 00:34:03.77\00:34:06.34 The only ones that were saved 00:34:06.34\00:34:07.88 were the ones that were brought on the arc. 00:34:07.88\00:34:10.48 The unclean animals, 00:34:10.48\00:34:12.61 those that could not be used for either food or sacrifice, 00:34:12.61\00:34:15.98 they came by twos and the clean animals came by sevens. 00:34:15.98\00:34:20.56 Now, when you say dinosaur, 00:34:20.56\00:34:22.29 dinosaur are these big thunder lizards, 00:34:22.29\00:34:24.53 and they're giant reptiles. 00:34:24.53\00:34:27.50 They're a whole species of creatures that are extinct now. 00:34:27.50\00:34:31.57 You could argue and say, well, we still have crocodiles 00:34:31.57\00:34:35.67 and we still have, what do they call them? 00:34:35.67\00:34:39.31 These giant monitor lizards and the Komodo dragons. 00:34:40.64\00:34:44.85 I almost said Kubota tractors. 00:34:44.85\00:34:46.95 And so you've got all kinds of great reptiles 00:34:46.95\00:34:50.29 that are still in the world today. 00:34:50.29\00:34:51.85 There also used to be giant mammals. 00:34:51.85\00:34:54.99 They had, what was it, sloths that were 13 feet tall 00:34:54.99\00:34:59.43 and beavers that were eight feet. 00:34:59.43\00:35:01.10 And just a lot of mammals, 00:35:01.10\00:35:02.93 and bison that were as big as a house. 00:35:02.93\00:35:05.40 So all of the creatures 00:35:05.40\00:35:06.77 kind of were shrunk during the flood. 00:35:06.77\00:35:09.64 Then you read in the New Test, 00:35:10.77\00:35:12.17 I'm sorry, that you read following the flood, 00:35:12.17\00:35:15.04 there was this mighty hunter named Nimrod 00:35:15.04\00:35:17.95 and mighty hunters don't hunt mice. 00:35:17.95\00:35:19.75 Mighty hunters hunt big animals. 00:35:19.75\00:35:21.35 It could be that Noah had preserved 00:35:21.35\00:35:23.45 two of some of these greater reptiles 00:35:23.45\00:35:26.92 and they all got killed off, like the Dodo birds. 00:35:26.92\00:35:29.66 They were extinct. 00:35:29.66\00:35:31.06 So they're all gone now and all we've got is the fossils 00:35:31.06\00:35:36.06 of some of these giant reptiles and even mammals. 00:35:37.40\00:35:39.67 But thank you. 00:35:39.67\00:35:41.30 We've got a book that you would enjoy, Daniel. 00:35:41.30\00:35:45.17 It's got pictures too about the dinosaurs. 00:35:45.17\00:35:48.84 It's our magazine by Jim Pinkoski. 00:35:48.84\00:35:50.78 And if you go to the Amazing Facts website, 00:35:50.78\00:35:53.35 type in dinosaurs and you'll see our color, 00:35:53.35\00:35:56.55 it's kinda like a comic book Bible study. 00:35:56.55\00:35:58.65 I think if you're seven years old, you'll really enjoy that. 00:35:58.65\00:36:01.76 - Alright. Thanks for your call, Daniel. 00:36:01.76\00:36:03.06 We've got Lee listening from North Carolina. 00:36:03.06\00:36:05.33 Lee, welcome to the program. 00:36:05.33\00:36:06.80 - [Lee] Oh, thank you so much. Hi, pastors. 00:36:07.93\00:36:09.90 My question please is about the Holy Spirit. 00:36:09.90\00:36:12.97 I know that after Jesus left, 00:36:12.97\00:36:14.74 He sent the Holy Spirit to the apostles. 00:36:14.74\00:36:18.37 My question is what about the Old Testament prophets 00:36:18.37\00:36:22.64 and just God's faithful, Jehovah's faithful? 00:36:22.64\00:36:26.48 Did they have the Spirit? 00:36:26.48\00:36:28.05 I mean, did they just have it and not know it? 00:36:28.05\00:36:30.32 I guess the Trinity started right at the beginning. 00:36:30.32\00:36:33.96 I know Jesus was prophesied 00:36:33.96\00:36:35.72 about right from the Garden of Eden, 00:36:35.72\00:36:37.36 but I just didn't know when does the Holy Spirit enter. 00:36:37.36\00:36:39.46 Thank you so much. 00:36:39.46\00:36:41.06 - Yeah. Thanks for your question. 00:36:41.06\00:36:42.16 We sure appreciate it, Faye. 00:36:42.16\00:36:44.10 The Holy Spirit has been around, of course, 00:36:44.10\00:36:45.73 since the beginning. 00:36:45.73\00:36:46.84 There in Genesis where it tells us 00:36:46.84\00:36:49.00 the Spirit moved upon the face of the waters 00:36:49.00\00:36:50.84 right there at the beginning. 00:36:50.84\00:36:52.41 And you go to the last book in the Bible, 00:36:52.41\00:36:54.48 the last chapter, it says "The Spirit 00:36:54.48\00:36:55.91 and the bride say 'come.'" 00:36:55.91\00:36:58.18 And you read in the Old Testament, 00:36:58.18\00:37:00.52 it tells us the Spirit of the Lord came upon Samson. 00:37:00.52\00:37:04.42 And then you read where Moses brought 70 elders 00:37:04.42\00:37:07.99 to Mount Sinai to present them before the Lord 00:37:07.99\00:37:10.53 and the Lord put his Holy Spirit upon them. 00:37:10.53\00:37:13.46 Well, it actually says he took the Spirit that was on Moses 00:37:13.46\00:37:15.83 and put it upon them, meaning God's Spirit 00:37:15.83\00:37:18.10 that God had given Moses, the same Spirit. 00:37:18.10\00:37:20.77 And when the Bible tells us that Elijah prayed 00:37:20.77\00:37:23.07 for a double portion of Elijah's Spirit, 00:37:23.07\00:37:24.74 well, that was the Holy Spirit. 00:37:24.74\00:37:27.21 And David, when he says in Psalm 51, 00:37:27.21\00:37:30.28 "Take not by Holy Spirit from me." 00:37:30.28\00:37:33.21 So there are many, many passages in the Old Testament 00:37:34.52\00:37:38.05 where you see the Spirit of God. 00:37:38.05\00:37:39.59 Now, you don't see the degree of the baptism 00:37:39.59\00:37:42.02 of the Holy Spirit that Jesus gave the apostles 00:37:42.02\00:37:44.73 until after the sacrifice of Christ. 00:37:44.73\00:37:47.13 The power and the miracles that were wrought 00:37:47.13\00:37:48.80 by the disciples was unparalleled 00:37:48.80\00:37:51.27 by virtually any Old Testament characters, 00:37:51.27\00:37:53.17 save Moses and Elijah, 00:37:53.17\00:37:54.84 but here you had 12 Spirit-filled prophets 00:37:54.84\00:37:57.81 going out and preaching about Jesus. 00:37:57.81\00:38:00.64 - So in other words, you're saying, Pastor Doug, 00:38:00.64\00:38:02.14 the Holy Spirit has always been active since the creation. 00:38:02.14\00:38:05.45 He's been speaking to the hearts of man, the Bible says, 00:38:05.45\00:38:08.15 it's the goodness of God that leads us to repentance. 00:38:08.15\00:38:10.52 So the Holy Spirit was speaking to the hearts of people 00:38:10.52\00:38:12.42 even before Christ came. 00:38:12.42\00:38:14.42 There were some God-fearing people who loved the Lord. 00:38:14.42\00:38:17.19 And of course, miracles did occur 00:38:17.19\00:38:19.09 in the Old Testament as well. 00:38:19.09\00:38:20.90 Some mighty miracles, even being resurrected from the dead. 00:38:20.90\00:38:24.83 - Yeah, the word spirit is found 617 times in the Bible 00:38:24.83\00:38:29.57 and many of them are Old Testament references. 00:38:29.57\00:38:32.47 Thank you, Faye, hope that helps a little bit. 00:38:33.58\00:38:35.01 And we do have a book 00:38:35.01\00:38:36.08 that talks about the need of the Holy Spirit. 00:38:36.08\00:38:37.68 You can download that or ask for it for free. 00:38:37.68\00:38:40.32 - The number to call is 800-835-6747. 00:38:40.32\00:38:43.39 And again, you can ask for that book, 00:38:43.39\00:38:45.15 it's called the "The Holy Spirit, the Need" 00:38:45.15\00:38:47.12 and we'll be happy to send that 00:38:47.12\00:38:48.12 to anyone who calls and asks. 00:38:48.12\00:38:50.29 Next caller we have is Kevin listening from Mississippi. 00:38:50.29\00:38:53.60 Kevin, welcome to the program. 00:38:53.60\00:38:55.13 - [Kevin] Yes, hi, so I was just wondering 00:38:56.23\00:38:59.37 when do a person need to be re-baptized? 00:38:59.37\00:39:02.80 - Okay, good question. 00:39:02.80\00:39:04.34 If a person falls, 00:39:05.41\00:39:07.41 at what point do they need to be re-baptized? 00:39:07.41\00:39:09.54 Now, a person can fall off a step 00:39:09.54\00:39:12.05 and they usually don't get too hurt. 00:39:12.05\00:39:13.42 If you fall off a cliff, it's more serious. 00:39:13.42\00:39:15.15 There's different kinds of falls. 00:39:15.15\00:39:17.05 It's normal for a Christian 00:39:17.05\00:39:19.25 as you're following the Lord to slip. 00:39:19.25\00:39:23.12 James says, "In many things we offend." 00:39:24.23\00:39:27.76 And as the sparks fly upwards, 00:39:27.76\00:39:30.43 so the children of men are prone 00:39:30.43\00:39:32.70 towards doing things wrong. 00:39:32.70\00:39:34.47 It's commonplace for Christians to sin in thought or action. 00:39:35.80\00:39:39.57 It should not be the pattern of their life. 00:39:39.57\00:39:41.58 And that's why we pray and we repent 00:39:41.58\00:39:44.18 and we look for God's ongoing mercy. 00:39:44.18\00:39:46.58 John tells us if we sin, to confess our sins 00:39:46.58\00:39:50.89 and He's faithful and just 00:39:50.89\00:39:51.99 to forgive us our sins and cleanse us. 00:39:51.99\00:39:54.26 And then we have the Lord's supper 00:39:54.26\00:39:55.99 as sort of a new beginning, that's like another level, 00:39:55.99\00:39:59.59 where we partake of that grape juice 00:39:59.59\00:40:03.13 representing the blood of Christ 00:40:03.13\00:40:04.43 and the bread representing the body of Christ. 00:40:04.43\00:40:08.07 And in some churches like ours, 00:40:08.07\00:40:09.54 they even participate in foot-washing service. 00:40:09.54\00:40:12.71 So we try to reenact that new beginning. 00:40:12.71\00:40:15.71 So in most cases, when a person, they make a mistake, 00:40:15.71\00:40:20.25 they might want to just look forward 00:40:20.25\00:40:22.42 to that communion service and get a new beginning. 00:40:22.42\00:40:24.75 If a person divorces themselves from the Lord, 00:40:24.75\00:40:26.92 they stop going to church, they stop confessing Christ, 00:40:26.92\00:40:30.53 and they drift away, when they come back 00:40:30.53\00:40:33.03 and they wanna make sure that they're committed 00:40:33.03\00:40:34.83 and they're back, they may need to be remarried. 00:40:34.83\00:40:37.80 And you've got examples of this 00:40:41.10\00:40:43.27 in a few places in the Bible, but we have a book on baptism 00:40:43.27\00:40:47.41 that will probably answer that question. 00:40:47.41\00:40:49.21 - The book is called "Baptism: Is it Really Necessary?" 00:40:49.21\00:40:51.91 And again, it talks about baptism, also re-baptism. 00:40:51.91\00:40:54.68 We'll be happy to send that to anyone who calls and asks. 00:40:54.68\00:40:56.89 The number again 800-835-6747. 00:40:56.89\00:41:00.46 Ask for the book and we'll be happy to send it 00:41:00.46\00:41:01.96 to anyone who calls. 00:41:01.96\00:41:03.73 Thank you for your call, Kevin. 00:41:03.73\00:41:04.76 We've got Helen listening in Florida. 00:41:04.76\00:41:06.53 Helen, you're on the air. 00:41:06.53\00:41:07.86 - [Helen] Hi, thank you for taking my call. 00:41:08.90\00:41:11.60 - Hi, thank you. 00:41:11.60\00:41:12.60 - [Helen] My question is it's concerning Revelation 21:9-10. 00:41:14.00\00:41:18.61 I guess I just need clarification on the bride of 00:41:21.38\00:41:26.11 Christ, like who is the bride of Christ? 00:41:26.11\00:41:28.88 - Let me just read this. 00:41:28.88\00:41:29.95 It says, "Then one of the seven angels," 00:41:29.95\00:41:31.69 this is Revelation 21:9, 00:41:31.69\00:41:34.29 "One of the seven angels who had the seven bowls 00:41:34.29\00:41:36.69 filled with the seven last plagues came to me 00:41:36.69\00:41:38.86 and talked with me saying, 00:41:38.86\00:41:40.23 'Come, I will show you the bride, the lamb's wife,' 00:41:40.23\00:41:43.77 and he carried me away in the spirit 00:41:43.77\00:41:45.47 to a great and high mountain, 00:41:45.47\00:41:47.17 and he showed me the great city, the Holy Jerusalem, 00:41:47.17\00:41:49.64 descending out of Heaven from God." 00:41:49.64\00:41:52.04 So the dwelling place for the people of God 00:41:52.04\00:41:55.38 is the New Jerusalem. 00:41:55.38\00:41:56.68 So it calls the New Jerusalem the bride. 00:41:56.68\00:41:58.21 It's not the buildings. 00:41:58.21\00:41:59.71 It's the people that will live in the buildings. 00:41:59.71\00:42:01.75 And so in the Old Testament, 00:42:01.75\00:42:04.39 they sometimes referred to Jerusalem as the City of God. 00:42:04.39\00:42:07.92 Well, God is not marrying stone 00:42:07.92\00:42:09.82 and two by fours and plaster. 00:42:09.82\00:42:11.79 It was the people that lived in the city. 00:42:11.79\00:42:14.20 And so the New Jerusalem again is the people, the church. 00:42:14.20\00:42:18.33 Now, one reason we know this is if you look 00:42:18.33\00:42:20.70 in Ephesians Chapter five, I think, Pastor Ross, 00:42:20.70\00:42:23.37 where it says, "Husbands love your wives 00:42:23.37\00:42:25.87 even as Christ loved the church and gave Himself for her." 00:42:25.87\00:42:30.28 So we are to love our wives as Christ loves the church. 00:42:30.28\00:42:34.15 The church is like the bride of Christ. 00:42:34.15\00:42:35.65 - Yeah, that's Ephesians 5:25. 00:42:35.65\00:42:37.65 - There you go. 00:42:37.65\00:42:38.72 - One other thought on that, 00:42:38.72\00:42:40.02 the New Jerusalem is described as the bride of Christ, 00:42:40.02\00:42:42.12 of course, as Pastor Doug says, 00:42:42.12\00:42:43.22 gonna be populated by the Redeemed, 00:42:43.22\00:42:45.43 but Jesus has also promised a Kingdom. 00:42:45.43\00:42:47.40 The Bible talks about a new Heavens and a new Earth 00:42:47.40\00:42:49.73 wherein dwells righteousness, 00:42:49.73\00:42:51.27 and Jesus is gonna be the King of kings and Lord of lords. 00:42:51.27\00:42:54.30 The capital of this new kingdom on Earth 00:42:54.30\00:42:56.50 at the end of a thousand years when the Earth is recreated 00:42:56.50\00:42:58.64 is gonna be the New Jerusalem. 00:42:58.64\00:43:00.21 And the amazing thing is not only is the New Jerusalem 00:43:00.21\00:43:02.64 the capital of a world recreated, 00:43:02.64\00:43:05.61 but the Bible tells us that God is gonna be in the city. 00:43:05.61\00:43:08.18 Christ is gonna be in the city. 00:43:08.18\00:43:09.48 In essence, it becomes the capital of the entire universe, 00:43:09.48\00:43:12.69 the place that had fallen into sin, 00:43:12.69\00:43:15.76 redeemed now through the sacrifice of Christ, 00:43:15.76\00:43:18.23 is elevated as the center of the universe 00:43:18.23\00:43:21.43 because God's gonna dwell with these people. 00:43:21.43\00:43:23.63 That's an incredible thought. 00:43:23.63\00:43:24.53 - Amen. 00:43:24.53\00:43:25.70 I think we have a lesson 00:43:25.70\00:43:26.84 that's called "The Bride of Christ." 00:43:26.84\00:43:27.84 - We do, yeah. 00:43:27.84\00:43:28.90 We'd be happy to send that out again. 00:43:28.90\00:43:30.31 Again, the number to call for that is 800-835-6747. 00:43:30.31\00:43:34.01 Just ask for that book. It's called "The Bride of Christ." 00:43:34.01\00:43:36.88 One of our Amazing Facts study guides 00:43:36.88\00:43:39.08 and you'll enjoy reading that. 00:43:39.08\00:43:40.45 It's got a number of great passages from Scripture 00:43:40.45\00:43:43.05 talking about that subject. 00:43:43.05\00:43:44.65 Thanks for calling, Helen. 00:43:44.65\00:43:45.89 We've got Chris listening here in the US. 00:43:45.89\00:43:49.22 Hi, Chris, welcome to the program. 00:43:49.22\00:43:51.69 - [Chris] Hi, guys. How are you? 00:43:51.69\00:43:52.93 - Good. 00:43:52.93\00:43:53.83 - [Chris] Good, so I'm not always sure 00:43:54.93\00:43:55.96 how to word this question, 00:43:55.96\00:43:57.47 but I'm a baby Christian just since August of last year, 00:43:57.47\00:43:59.60 but my question is, would it be a characteristic of God 00:43:59.60\00:44:02.70 to allow a marriage born out of sin to end 00:44:02.70\00:44:07.21 and then use those two people newly converted 00:44:07.21\00:44:10.18 or one of them newly converted for His purpose 00:44:10.18\00:44:13.05 and then bring that marriage back together 00:44:13.05\00:44:14.82 built on a godly foundation? 00:44:14.82\00:44:16.79 - ...I wanna make sure I understand your question. 00:44:16.79\00:44:19.25 So you're asking if you've got a couple, one is converted, 00:44:19.25\00:44:24.33 they are married or they're separated 00:44:25.93\00:44:29.80 and they're coming back together again, can God use them? 00:44:29.80\00:44:32.20 Can you try and maybe restate that again 00:44:32.20\00:44:34.00 'cause I didn't catch what you were saying. 00:44:34.00\00:44:36.84 - [Chris] Yep, so you have two people 00:44:36.84\00:44:38.17 who entered into marriage built on sin in the beginning. 00:44:38.17\00:44:42.44 So God dismantled that marriage and allowed the divorce 00:44:43.71\00:44:46.82 and now one of them is converted 00:44:46.82\00:44:49.02 and being used for God's purpose or God's will. 00:44:50.12\00:44:52.85 And then God brings them back together after He's through 00:44:52.85\00:44:56.83 or brings them back together on His timing. 00:44:56.83\00:45:00.70 Would that be a characteristic of God? 00:45:00.70\00:45:03.60 - Well, I think that if you've got two people 00:45:03.60\00:45:05.97 and they were married and it fell apart for whatever reason 00:45:05.97\00:45:10.81 and one of them is converted, if they're legally divorced, 00:45:10.81\00:45:14.14 if one of them is thinking of remarrying, 00:45:14.14\00:45:16.54 I wouldn't remarry unless they're both agreed 00:45:16.54\00:45:19.68 on being Christians. 00:45:19.68\00:45:21.35 Can God do that? 00:45:21.35\00:45:22.72 He absolutely can, but I would not reenter into a marriage 00:45:22.72\00:45:27.49 where only one was converted 00:45:28.29\00:45:29.62 if they're already legally divorced. 00:45:29.62\00:45:32.29 So it'd be great if you're still friends 00:45:32.29\00:45:37.33 and you can do Bible studies together 00:45:38.40\00:45:39.37 and if you could come back together 00:45:40.47\00:45:42.20 and that can be a testimony. 00:45:42.20\00:45:43.41 I've seen that happen before. 00:45:43.41\00:45:44.94 Can God do that? He absolutely can. 00:45:46.04\00:45:48.74 - We got a book talking about the subject of marriage. 00:45:48.74\00:45:50.98 It's called "Marriage, Divorce, and Remarriage" 00:45:50.98\00:45:53.05 and I think it'll answer a lot of your questions. 00:45:53.05\00:45:55.08 The number to call for that is 800-835-6747 00:45:55.08\00:45:58.82 and you can ask for the book. 00:45:58.82\00:46:00.22 It's called "Marriage, Divorce, and Remarriage." 00:46:00.22\00:46:02.92 Thanks to your call, Chris. 00:46:02.92\00:46:03.96 We've got Jemima listening from Canada. 00:46:03.96\00:46:07.86 Jemima, welcome to the program. 00:46:07.86\00:46:09.63 - [Jemima] Good evening, Pastor Ross and Pastor Doug. 00:46:10.97\00:46:14.07 - Evening. 00:46:14.07\00:46:14.87 - [Jemima] So my question is 00:46:14.87\00:46:16.10 does God allows us to be punished 00:46:17.44\00:46:20.74 when we are being arrogant and boastful 00:46:20.74\00:46:25.81 and if we mock the Lord because from the Book of Daniel, 00:46:27.08\00:46:29.22 I read here Daniel 4:23-25 00:46:30.72\00:46:34.19 and this is talking about the seven years of illness 00:46:35.59\00:46:39.09 of King Nebuchadnezzar, 00:46:39.09\00:46:40.50 so God made King Nebuchadnezzar insane or mad 00:46:41.66\00:46:46.80 for being so boastful? 00:46:47.47\00:46:48.57 - Yes, it certainly is true that God often punishes pride. 00:46:50.81\00:46:55.58 Pride was the first great sin of the devil. 00:46:55.58\00:46:59.25 And it tells us in Proverbs, 00:46:59.25\00:47:01.02 a haughty spirit goes before a fall, 00:47:01.02\00:47:03.28 pride goes before destruction, 00:47:03.28\00:47:05.69 and a haughty spirit before a fall. 00:47:05.69\00:47:08.32 You can read in the Bible where King Herod 00:47:08.32\00:47:10.93 was boasting in Acts Chapter 12 00:47:10.93\00:47:14.10 and he was taking the prerogatives 00:47:14.10\00:47:16.40 and the worship that belongs to God 00:47:16.40\00:47:17.77 and the angel of the Lord struck him and he died. 00:47:17.77\00:47:22.10 And you can see where the Pharaoh hardened his heart 00:47:22.10\00:47:25.01 through pride and he was judged and punished. 00:47:25.01\00:47:28.41 And you've got the proud Pharisee who says, 00:47:28.41\00:47:31.18 "I thank you, I'm better than other men." 00:47:31.18\00:47:34.05 So yeah, pride is one of the most offensive things to God 00:47:34.05\00:47:37.29 and the Lord wants to save us from pride. 00:47:37.29\00:47:39.09 All of us struggle with pride in varying degrees, 00:47:39.09\00:47:41.86 but it's very hard for the Lord to reach an arrogant person. 00:47:41.86\00:47:45.83 That's why He wants us to humble ourselves... 00:47:45.83\00:47:47.76 it says the meek will inherit the Earth. 00:47:47.76\00:47:49.73 - Here's a verse in Proverbs 16:18 that says: 00:47:49.73\00:47:52.43 "Pride goes before destruction 00:47:52.43\00:47:54.67 and a haughty spirit before a fall." 00:47:54.67\00:47:56.91 That's pretty clear right there. 00:47:56.91\00:47:58.97 Alright. Thanks for your call, Jemima. 00:47:58.97\00:48:00.38 We've got Ashley listening in Washington. 00:48:00.38\00:48:02.31 Ashley, welcome to the program. 00:48:02.31\00:48:04.11 - [Ashley] Hi, thank you for having me. 00:48:04.11\00:48:05.41 I'm just wondering if it is appropriate 00:48:05.41\00:48:07.15 to decode the Book of Psalms? 00:48:07.15\00:48:09.18 I've been seeing a lot of different pastors 00:48:09.18\00:48:10.29 talking about it and I'm just wondering 00:48:10.29\00:48:11.89 if it's appropriate or biblical. 00:48:11.89\00:48:14.42 - So are you talking about where they sometimes take 00:48:14.42\00:48:17.03 the Hebrew letters and they say the Hebrew letters in Psalms 00:48:17.03\00:48:20.76 have different numerical value 00:48:20.76\00:48:23.03 and there's prophetic meaning 00:48:23.03\00:48:24.20 when you look at them that way? 00:48:24.20\00:48:25.60 Or are you talking about when they find Messianic prophecies 00:48:25.60\00:48:29.94 in the Book of Psalms? 00:48:29.94\00:48:31.21 - [Ashley] A little bit of both. 00:48:33.11\00:48:34.64 The big one I've been seeing 00:48:34.64\00:48:35.74 is that Psalms is the 19th book in 00:48:35.74\00:48:40.62 and the 48th from the end, so leaning to 1948, 00:48:41.72\00:48:44.35 and that Psalms 48 leads to the rebirth of Jerusalem 00:48:44.35\00:48:49.42 and they've tied a bunch of other prophecies to it. 00:48:50.79\00:48:52.39 I just wasn't sure if it's biblical to go off that. 00:48:52.39\00:48:57.17 - Okay, I'm glad you clarified that. 00:48:57.17\00:48:59.23 What you've just described there 00:48:59.23\00:49:01.24 is it's kinda like Bible study voodoo. 00:49:01.24\00:49:04.14 I don't think that God intended for us 00:49:04.14\00:49:06.84 to take the chapter numbers 00:49:06.84\00:49:08.31 and try to make anything out of that. 00:49:08.31\00:49:10.21 Chapter numbers were not part of the inspired message 00:49:10.21\00:49:15.28 that God is giving us. 00:49:16.42\00:49:18.69 And so if you start taking chapter numbers, 00:49:18.69\00:49:20.92 and the Psalms, the way they were arranged, 00:49:20.92\00:49:23.12 some actually have arranged the Psalms 00:49:24.23\00:49:25.73 where they take the Psalms of David 00:49:25.73\00:49:27.36 and they put them in a different category 00:49:27.36\00:49:28.70 with the Psalms of Solomon and the Psalms of Hezekiah. 00:49:28.70\00:49:31.93 The way we get it in the King James version, 00:49:31.93\00:49:33.64 they're all bundled together. 00:49:33.64\00:49:35.37 But to start trying to interpret the Psalm numbers 00:49:35.37\00:49:38.71 and chapters and verses 00:49:38.71\00:49:41.11 where you're mixing up the numerology 00:49:41.11\00:49:42.88 and trying to create secret messages, 00:49:42.88\00:49:45.45 that's like Bible bingo. 00:49:47.52\00:49:49.95 I don't think there's any message in that at all. 00:49:49.95\00:49:52.59 Now, what does blow us away, the Psalms are supernatural. 00:49:52.59\00:49:56.52 When you read in Psalm 22 where it says, 00:49:56.52\00:49:58.83 "They pierced My hands and My feet 00:49:58.83\00:50:00.86 and they gambled for My clothing, 00:50:00.86\00:50:02.73 and dogs have surrounded Me," 00:50:02.73\00:50:05.07 that's an incredible prophecy 00:50:05.07\00:50:06.70 that talks about Jesus on the cross. 00:50:06.70\00:50:09.20 So those things are very powerful, 00:50:09.20\00:50:11.41 but to start mixing up the numbers 00:50:11.41\00:50:12.97 and trying to get messages out of that and make dates... 00:50:12.97\00:50:15.98 nah, I'd stay away from that. 00:50:15.98\00:50:18.98 I hope that helps a little bit. 00:50:18.98\00:50:20.82 - Alright, thanks for your call. 00:50:20.82\00:50:22.48 We've got David listening from Illinois. 00:50:22.48\00:50:24.95 David, welcome to the program. 00:50:24.95\00:50:26.52 - [David] Hello, Pastors. How are y'all doing tonight? 00:50:28.02\00:50:30.53 - Doing great. Thanks for calling. 00:50:30.53\00:50:32.29 - [David] My question is about the last generation. 00:50:34.36\00:50:37.50 I guess the best way I can put it is 00:50:39.93\00:50:41.94 was Adam and Eve, 00:50:44.27\00:50:45.81 when they had eaten the forbidden fruit, 00:50:47.04\00:50:50.58 God told Adam "For this day, you shall surely die." 00:50:50.58\00:50:55.25 Well, one day for God was like 1,000 years for Adam 00:50:57.62\00:51:02.22 and he lived to be what, 900, and what? 00:51:02.22\00:51:04.99 - 930 years. 00:51:05.83\00:51:06.90 - [David] Okay, and then with Moses, 00:51:08.73\00:51:11.67 he told Moses that he can see the Promised Land, 00:51:13.00\00:51:17.41 but he cannot enter it. 00:51:17.41\00:51:18.84 So when he did see it, he died right after. 00:51:18.84\00:51:21.64 And the same thing with the priest that saw baby Christ, 00:51:23.18\00:51:28.25 he was told that he would see the Christ 00:51:29.38\00:51:30.65 and right after that, he died. 00:51:31.79\00:51:34.99 So I guess the heart of my question would be 00:51:34.99\00:51:38.33 with the last generation that shall not die, 00:51:38.33\00:51:41.96 how will that play out? 00:51:41.96\00:51:43.70 Will it be like with the last person of the last generation? 00:51:43.70\00:51:48.67 It's a question I've been contemplating for quite a while. 00:51:50.54\00:51:53.44 - Alright, thank you so much, David. 00:51:53.44\00:51:55.01 Appreciate your question. 00:51:55.01\00:51:56.24 It is fascinating that God told Adam 00:51:57.48\00:51:59.78 in the day that you eat thereof, you will die. 00:51:59.78\00:52:02.05 And yet the Bible tells us in 2 Peter 3, 00:52:02.05\00:52:06.49 a day with the Lord is like 1,000 years 00:52:06.49\00:52:08.29 and 1,000 like a day. 00:52:08.29\00:52:10.86 And Peter's actually quoting from one of the Psalms 00:52:10.86\00:52:13.96 where it says 1,000 years in his sight 00:52:13.96\00:52:15.90 or an evening that is gone. 00:52:16.83\00:52:18.50 And so God said to Adam and Eve, 00:52:18.50\00:52:20.87 "You're gonna die in the day." 00:52:20.87\00:52:22.14 Well, they began to die spiritually as soon as they sin. 00:52:22.14\00:52:25.17 The death process began. 00:52:25.17\00:52:26.57 A matter of fact, it tells us I think in the Hebrew, 00:52:26.57\00:52:28.81 "In dying, you will die," 00:52:28.81\00:52:30.21 so the dying process will begin, 00:52:30.21\00:52:32.88 but they didn't make it to that first millennium, 00:52:32.88\00:52:34.88 that first 1,000 years. 00:52:34.88\00:52:36.02 If 1,000 years is like a day, Adam, 00:52:36.02\00:52:39.02 even Methuselah and all the patriarchs, 00:52:39.02\00:52:41.26 died before they reached that first millennial day. 00:52:41.26\00:52:44.39 But as far as the last generation, 00:52:45.49\00:52:48.03 I think there's going to be a lot of people still alive 00:52:48.03\00:52:51.10 when Jesus comes. 00:52:51.10\00:52:52.67 He's gonna protect them and bring them out of this world 00:52:52.67\00:52:55.50 just like He saved the children of Israel out of Egypt 00:52:55.50\00:52:58.81 and He protected them from the 10 plagues. 00:52:58.81\00:53:01.41 He'll protect a lot of people from the seven last plagues. 00:53:01.41\00:53:04.48 What do you think, Pastor Ross? Can we squeeze in one more? 00:53:04.48\00:53:06.82 - Yes, I think so. Let's go to Michael in Montana. 00:53:06.82\00:53:09.62 Michael, welcome to the program. 00:53:09.62\00:53:11.32 - [Michael] It's a speculative question. 00:53:11.32\00:53:13.39 Say Adam and Eve did obey God and pass all the tests 00:53:14.79\00:53:19.76 that Satan threw at them from the tree, 00:53:20.90\00:53:22.90 what would've happened to Satan and his angels? 00:53:24.00\00:53:27.24 Would God have thrown him in some corner 00:53:27.24\00:53:28.87 or they would've just disintegrated? 00:53:28.87\00:53:30.54 I mean, this is speculation, 00:53:30.54\00:53:31.57 but I've been thinking about this. 00:53:31.57\00:53:33.21 - Okay, well it's fair enough. You're right. 00:53:33.21\00:53:35.01 It is kind of a speculating question 00:53:35.01\00:53:36.81 'cause you can have a hypothesis of what would happen. 00:53:36.81\00:53:41.88 It's hard to know without having the mind of God 00:53:43.22\00:53:44.45 and being able to interview Him, 00:53:44.45\00:53:46.39 but it could be that if every world had passed the tests, 00:53:46.39\00:53:51.46 I believe God has other unfallen worlds 00:53:52.53\00:53:53.63 that Satan probably tried to recruit, 00:53:53.63\00:53:55.23 but he found supporters down here, 00:53:55.23\00:53:58.30 if every other world had passed the tests 00:53:58.30\00:54:00.47 and Satan couldn't find any other followers, 00:54:00.47\00:54:02.87 God probably would've just destroyed Satan and his angels 00:54:02.87\00:54:06.21 'cause it says in Matthew 25 that the angel and his devils 00:54:06.21\00:54:11.28 will be thrown in his lake of fire. 00:54:12.41\00:54:13.45 - Matthew 25:41. 00:54:13.45\00:54:15.12 - Yeah, so their destruction was sealed, 00:54:15.12\00:54:17.95 but the way it works now 00:54:19.12\00:54:20.46 is anybody that follows the devil is gonna join him. 00:54:20.46\00:54:23.12 Hey, thank you so much, Michael. Appreciate that. 00:54:23.12\00:54:25.03 We do have a lesson called "Did God Create the Devil?" 00:54:25.03\00:54:27.46 and it touches on that subject. 00:54:27.46\00:54:29.36 - The number to call for that is 800-835-6747. 00:54:29.36\00:54:32.87 Again, you can ask for the study guide. 00:54:32.87\00:54:34.17 It's called "Did God Create the Devil?" 00:54:34.17\00:54:37.07 - Now friends, just so you understand what's happening 00:54:37.07\00:54:39.31 here. Was Melchizedek God? 00:55:46.24\00:55:49.14 - Well, no, of course, Melchizedek had the Spirit of 00:55:50.58\00:55:53.01 God, I'm sure, but the Bible tells us that he was a king 00:55:53.01\00:55:56.02 and he was a priest of a particular territory. 00:55:56.02\00:55:58.89 And he brought out food, 00:55:58.89\00:56:00.69 real food to Abraham and his friends. 00:56:00.69\00:56:03.63 And he received tithe, 00:56:03.63\00:56:04.86 which back then probably wasn't money, 00:56:04.86\00:56:06.43 but it was food and practical things 00:56:06.43\00:56:07.93 that they had won in the battle. 00:56:07.93\00:56:09.26 He was a real person. 00:56:09.26\00:56:10.93 And I just talked about that last week, 00:56:10.93\00:56:12.80 if they wanna go to Facebook and see my, 00:56:12.80\00:56:14.47 or two weeks ago, I dealt with that. 00:56:14.47\00:56:16.94 - Okay. Next question that we have, 00:56:16.94\00:56:18.71 is tithing only to be paid to a church 00:56:18.71\00:56:22.31 or is it okay to give tithe to somebody in need? 00:56:22.31\00:56:26.01 - Well, there's an example in the Book of, 00:56:26.01\00:56:27.78 I think it's Deuteronomy where when they went to a feast, 00:56:27.78\00:56:31.42 they could take a second tithe and they could maybe use that 00:56:31.42\00:56:35.49 to help with the poor along the way. 00:56:35.49\00:56:37.23 It was sort of like charity during the feast times 00:56:37.23\00:56:39.76 that they'd show. But the first principle tithe, 00:56:39.76\00:56:43.57 the Bible says that the tithe is holy to the Lord 00:56:43.57\00:56:46.13 and it was given to the Levites 00:56:46.13\00:56:48.37 and that was for the proclamation of the Gospel. 00:56:48.37\00:56:50.61 It wasn't to be distributed however a person said, 00:56:50.61\00:56:53.64 "I'm gonna send it to my favorite ministry." 00:56:53.64\00:56:56.18 It was to be going for the proclamation of the Gospel. 00:56:56.18\00:56:59.81 - Okay, next question that we have, 00:56:59.81\00:57:00.95 how do we know that good angels are with us? 00:57:00.95\00:57:04.29 - Well, God promises that. 00:57:04.29\00:57:05.65 I mean, I think there's things we can do to probably grieve 00:57:05.65\00:57:08.02 the good angels that are with us, 00:57:08.02\00:57:09.36 but the Bible says the angel of the Lord encamps 00:57:09.36\00:57:12.89 roundabout those that fear Him and delivers them. 00:57:12.89\00:57:16.46 And it tells us in Psalm 91: 00:57:16.46\00:57:18.23 "He will give His angels charge over you 00:57:18.23\00:57:20.14 to keep you in all of your ways." 00:57:20.14\00:57:21.90 And so God does have guardian angels watching us. 00:57:21.90\00:57:26.01 - Okay, next question, did Cain marry his sister? 00:57:26.01\00:57:29.34 And if so, where did he find her? 00:57:29.34\00:57:32.08 - Well, he found her probably pretty close to Adam and Eve. 00:57:32.08\00:57:35.25 He married his sister. 00:57:35.25\00:57:37.49 And back then, there was nothing wrong with that. 00:57:37.49\00:57:40.39 Technically, Adam sort of married his sister in Eve. 00:57:40.39\00:57:42.96 They both came from the same family. 00:57:42.96\00:57:44.96 And it wasn't until the time of Moses 00:57:44.96\00:57:46.90 that it was forbidden to marry close of kin. 00:57:46.90\00:57:50.33 - Okay, last question that we have, Pastor Doug, 00:57:50.33\00:57:52.60 could you quickly explain three days and three nights 00:57:52.60\00:57:55.37 that Christ was in the heart of the Earth? 00:57:55.37\00:57:57.01 Does that mean the tomb? 00:57:57.01\00:57:58.94 - No that's talking about the sufferings of Christ 00:57:58.94\00:58:01.01 that began in the garden when He said, 00:58:01.01\00:58:02.98 "Now is the hour of darkness," 00:58:02.98\00:58:04.61 so that would be Thursday night, 00:58:04.61\00:58:06.08 Friday night, Saturday night, 00:58:06.08\00:58:07.95 He was suffering for the sins of the world. 00:58:07.95\00:58:10.05 Hey, friends, we love your questions. 00:58:10.05\00:58:11.55 We look forward to getting more from you. 00:58:11.55\00:58:13.36 And tune in again, we'll study His word together next week. 00:58:13.36\00:58:14.19 (bright/ grand music) 00:58:14.19\00:58:15.09 - [Narrator] "Bible Answers Live," 00:58:18.76\00:58:20.60 honest and accurate answers to your Bible questions! 00:58:20.60\00:58:24.33
