00:00:53.28\00:00:56.48 All right, listen up. 00:00:56.48\00:00:57.79 About four hours north of Sydney in Australia, 00:00:57.79\00:01:00.82 in a national park, a fire is smoldering out of control 00:01:00.82\00:01:05.06 and it's been doing so for thousands of years. 00:01:05.06\00:01:07.96 Known as burning mountain, the mysterious underground blaze 00:01:07.96\00:01:11.73 is the oldest known continuous fire on the planet. 00:01:11.73\00:01:16.04 Located under Mount Wingen in the state of New South Wales, 00:01:16.04\00:01:19.31 wingen and means fire in the language 00:01:19.31\00:01:21.54 of the local Aboriginals. 00:01:21.54\00:01:23.24 This underground smolder is a coal seam fire, 00:01:23.24\00:01:26.75 one of thousands burning around the globe. 00:01:26.75\00:01:29.18 Once ignited, these subterranean fires 00:01:29.18\00:01:31.75 are almost impossible to put out. 00:01:31.75\00:01:34.36 Slowly but intensely, they travel like a burning fuse 00:01:34.36\00:01:38.06 through the coal seam, which is a layer of coal 00:01:38.06\00:01:40.63 that naturally occurs beneath the earth's surface. 00:01:40.63\00:01:43.70 No one knows whether it was humans or lightning 00:01:43.70\00:01:46.50 that first ignited the mountain fire, the Mount Wingen fire. 00:01:46.50\00:01:50.24 Experts estimate the fires about the size of a ball, 00:01:50.24\00:01:53.31 20 to 30 feet in diameter, about 100 feet underground, 00:01:53.31\00:01:57.15 and it reaches temperatures of 1800 degrees Fahrenheit. 00:01:57.15\00:02:01.52 Because the fire lacks adequate ventilation, 00:02:01.52\00:02:03.69 it burns very slowly, 00:02:03.69\00:02:05.72 advancing at a speed of about three feet per year. 00:02:05.72\00:02:09.22 More like embers in a barbecue than a typical coal fire. 00:02:09.22\00:02:12.73 If you visit the national park, 00:02:12.73\00:02:14.73 only current evidence that you'll see now is some smoke 00:02:14.73\00:02:17.60 and white ash, ground that's warm to the touch, 00:02:17.60\00:02:20.60 bearing red rocks, void of plants, 00:02:20.60\00:02:22.87 and a sulfuric smell omitted 00:02:22.87\00:02:25.01 as the fire below cooks some minerals of the mountain. 00:02:25.01\00:02:28.38 Friends, there are many Christians that believe 00:02:28.38\00:02:30.68 that God has an eternal place of burning. 00:02:30.68\00:02:33.55 And we're gonna talk about that tonight 00:02:33.55\00:02:35.32 on "Bible Answers Live." 00:02:35.32\00:02:37.12 We're so glad that you're here, 00:02:37.12\00:02:38.95 and you're gonna hopefully participate. 00:02:38.95\00:02:41.36 Tell your friends to participate. 00:02:41.36\00:02:42.66 Call in with your Bible questions. 00:02:42.66\00:02:44.33 Pastor Ross is off tonight. 00:02:44.33\00:02:46.39 So, I along with our engineering team in the studio, 00:02:46.39\00:02:49.53 we're gonna be taking your live Bible questions. 00:02:49.53\00:02:52.17 And before we do, 00:02:52.17\00:02:53.40 we're gonna have prayer as we always do. 00:02:53.40\00:02:55.67 Loving Lord, we thank you so much 00:02:55.67\00:02:57.51 for your goodness and blessings. 00:02:57.51\00:02:59.37 We thank you for the blessed book, 00:02:59.37\00:03:00.88 The Bible, that guides us. 00:03:00.88\00:03:02.61 You've said that thy word is truth, Lord. 00:03:02.61\00:03:05.28 And we pray that the truth will set us free. 00:03:05.28\00:03:07.85 Be with us tonight in every aspect of this program. 00:03:07.85\00:03:10.59 We pray in Jesus' name. 00:03:10.59\00:03:12.55 Amen. 00:03:12.55\00:03:13.59 So if you have any Bible questions, 00:03:14.69\00:03:16.42 either on the subject I just mentioned, 00:03:16.42\00:03:18.93 or on any Bible topic we're talking 00:03:18.93\00:03:20.93 about living the Christian life, give us a call. 00:03:20.93\00:03:23.43 Here's the phone number, 800-GOD-SAYS. 00:03:23.43\00:03:26.77 That's 800-463-7297. 00:03:26.77\00:03:31.44 Let me say it again for those who may be driving. 00:03:31.44\00:03:33.48 800-463-7297, with your Bible questions. 00:03:33.48\00:03:38.55 We also do offer sometimes free offers. 00:03:39.58\00:03:41.52 Well, not sometimes, every program we offer free offers, 00:03:41.52\00:03:44.25 and that's a different number that takes you to operators 00:03:44.25\00:03:46.92 that will take your request 00:03:46.92\00:03:48.46 for the free Bible study material. 00:03:48.46\00:03:50.93 Now, I asked a question. 00:03:50.93\00:03:52.79 There are many Christians that believe 00:03:52.79\00:03:54.20 that God has a place of eternal burning. 00:03:54.20\00:03:56.70 Does the Bible teach that? 00:03:58.13\00:03:59.63 We've got a lesson that's gonna talk about that tonight. 00:03:59.63\00:04:01.64 It's called, "Is the Devil in Charge of Hell?" 00:04:01.64\00:04:05.37 "Is the Devil in Charge of Hell?" 00:04:05.37\00:04:07.18 But let me give you just a couple 00:04:07.18\00:04:08.74 of verses that address that subject. 00:04:08.74\00:04:12.75 There are two extremes when it comes to the subject of hell. 00:04:12.75\00:04:16.42 One extreme is some people say, 00:04:16.42\00:04:18.25 there is no punishment of the wicked, 00:04:18.25\00:04:19.82 and some believe everyone's gonna be saved, 00:04:19.82\00:04:21.89 sort of a universalism. 00:04:21.89\00:04:23.86 Then there's those who have people riding in sulfur 00:04:23.86\00:04:27.13 in brimstone through endless ages and a billion years go by, 00:04:27.13\00:04:31.03 and they're still screaming in agony, 00:04:31.03\00:04:32.50 burning all over their bodies. 00:04:32.50\00:04:34.20 And they've only begun after a billion years. 00:04:34.20\00:04:36.20 Just imagine burning through eternity. 00:04:36.20\00:04:38.67 Then there's a Bible teaching that the wicked are cast 00:04:38.67\00:04:41.81 into the lake of fire and burnt up. 00:04:41.81\00:04:44.78 Every man is punished according to what he deserves, 00:04:44.78\00:04:47.15 but they're ultimately consumed. 00:04:47.15\00:04:49.22 The Bible says that the fire comes down out of heaven, 00:04:49.22\00:04:51.92 Revelation chapter two, and it devours them. 00:04:51.92\00:04:54.82 They are consumed. 00:04:54.82\00:04:56.16 Look at Malachi chapter four, verse one. 00:04:56.16\00:04:59.36 "For behold, the day comes as an oven; 00:04:59.36\00:05:02.70 and the proud, yes, all who do wickedly, 00:05:02.70\00:05:05.47 the proud and the wicked will be stubble. 00:05:05.47\00:05:07.44 And the day that is coming will burn them up, says the Lord, 00:05:07.44\00:05:11.54 it'll leave them neither root nor branch." 00:05:11.54\00:05:14.64 Saying that the root, the branch, burned up. 00:05:14.64\00:05:17.18 The wicked are stubble, they're devoured. 00:05:17.18\00:05:20.22 The Bible tells us the meek will inherit the earth. 00:05:20.22\00:05:22.62 The saved are not gonna be looking at a torture chamber 00:05:22.62\00:05:25.55 through eternity of lost people, barbecuing, if you will. 00:05:25.55\00:05:30.19 And there is a place where the wicked will burn. 00:05:31.53\00:05:34.40 Jesus is clear. 00:05:34.40\00:05:35.73 He says that, "Don't fear him who can destroy the body, 00:05:35.73\00:05:39.87 but he can't touch your soul, 00:05:39.87\00:05:41.20 but fear him who can destroy soul and body in hell." 00:05:41.20\00:05:45.51 So both the body and the soul are ultimately destroyed 00:05:45.51\00:05:48.44 in the lake of fire. 00:05:48.44\00:05:49.78 People are gonna be punished according to what they deserve. 00:05:49.78\00:05:52.51 And there varying works. 00:05:52.51\00:05:53.88 Not only for the wicked, there are varying rewards, 00:05:53.88\00:05:56.92 I should say, not only for the wicked, 00:05:56.92\00:05:58.42 but for the righteous. 00:05:58.42\00:05:59.65 If you wanna know more about that subject 00:05:59.65\00:06:01.19 and what the Bible actually teaches, 00:06:01.19\00:06:02.69 then this lesson is filled with scripture. 00:06:02.69\00:06:05.33 They're gonna put that up on the screen for you again. 00:06:05.33\00:06:07.73 It's called, "Is the Devil in Charge of Hell?" 00:06:07.73\00:06:10.40 If you want a copy of that, 00:06:10.40\00:06:12.27 then you can call our resource number. 00:06:12.27\00:06:14.64 800-835-6747. 00:06:14.64\00:06:15.80 800-835-6747. 00:06:18.27\00:06:19.17 We are broadcasting tonight, 00:06:21.08\00:06:22.64 not only on Amazing Facts Television, 00:06:22.64\00:06:24.75 we are on the Amazing Facts Facebook page, 00:06:24.75\00:06:27.92 the YouTube page, the Doug Batchelor Facebook page. 00:06:27.92\00:06:31.25 And you can watch as well as listen. 00:06:31.25\00:06:34.02 And again, call in with your questions, 800-463-7297 00:06:34.02\00:06:37.66 for your Bible questions. 00:06:40.13\00:06:42.00 With that, I see that we've got a couple people 00:06:42.00\00:06:44.67 that have called in. 00:06:44.67\00:06:45.50 We have some lines open, 00:06:45.50\00:06:46.84 great time to call in with your Bible questions. 00:06:46.84\00:06:49.10 And we're gonna talk to Daryl who is calling from Arizona. 00:06:49.10\00:06:54.18 I clicked it, there he is. 00:06:54.98\00:06:56.34 Daryl, you're on the air with "Bible Answers Live." 00:06:56.34\00:06:57.85 Can you hear me, Daryl? 00:06:59.28\00:07:01.62 Let me see, I'll try that one more time. 00:07:02.75\00:07:04.22 Daryl, there you are, okay. 00:07:04.22\00:07:05.92 And your question tonight. 00:07:05.92\00:07:07.29 - [Daryl] Yeah, my question is, if Eve conceived once 00:07:08.92\00:07:13.53 in chapter four and verse one and two, 00:07:14.73\00:07:19.80 doesn't that infer that Abel was a twin to Cain? 00:07:21.20\00:07:26.27 - I've heard people say that, 00:07:29.98\00:07:31.35 but it doesn't always give the age of the second born. 00:07:31.35\00:07:36.42 For example, it tells us that Noah had Shem, Ham, 00:07:37.55\00:07:40.89 and Japheth, and it doesn't imply they're triplets. 00:07:40.89\00:07:44.86 Typically in the Bible, in the case of like Perez and Zerah 00:07:44.86\00:07:49.40 or Jacob and Esau, it tells you when they're twins. 00:07:49.40\00:07:53.27 And so, because Cain has mentioned first and says, 00:07:53.27\00:07:56.14 "The Lord has given me a man child," 00:07:56.14\00:07:58.11 I think he was the first born, 00:07:58.11\00:08:00.08 Abel was his younger brother, he came second. 00:08:00.08\00:08:02.34 - [Daryl] Even in the case if he was a twin, 00:08:04.35\00:08:07.32 he would be the younger brother and came second. 00:08:07.32\00:08:10.02 - Well, technically you're right. 00:08:10.02\00:08:11.92 That's true. 00:08:11.92\00:08:13.12 But usually, if they had twins, 00:08:13.12\00:08:17.03 it's hard to imagine, twins are rare. 00:08:17.03\00:08:18.43 It's kinda hard to imagine 00:08:18.43\00:08:19.46 that Eve's first child would be twins. 00:08:19.46\00:08:21.53 But when she names Cain, she kind of names him exclusively, 00:08:24.77\00:08:28.07 "I've gotten a man from the Lord," she says. 00:08:28.07\00:08:30.51 And so, she's treating it like an individual event. 00:08:30.51\00:08:33.84 - [Daryl] Right. 00:08:33.84\00:08:34.94 - So I don't think they were twins, 00:08:34.94\00:08:36.81 but they certainly were brothers. 00:08:36.81\00:08:38.61 And of course, that was very sad 00:08:38.61\00:08:40.22 that Cain rose up and took his brother's life. 00:08:40.22\00:08:43.55 And the Bible says, 00:08:43.55\00:08:44.85 "The blood of Able his brother cried to the Lord." 00:08:44.85\00:08:47.96 Then Jesus, when he talked about the punishment 00:08:47.96\00:08:50.39 that was coming on Jerusalem, he said, 00:08:50.39\00:08:51.83 "The blood of righteous Abel, 00:08:51.83\00:08:54.50 all the way to the blood of Zachariah the son Berechiah, 00:08:54.50\00:08:57.00 will be demanded of that generation. 00:08:57.00\00:08:59.43 So there is vengeance that comes from God 00:08:59.43\00:09:03.41 when innocent blood is spilled. 00:09:03.41\00:09:05.71 All right, we're gonna talk to Anthony. 00:09:05.71\00:09:07.51 And that frees up another line. 00:09:07.51\00:09:08.88 Again, if you wanna call in with your Bible questions, 00:09:08.88\00:09:11.21 that number 800-GOD-SAYS, 800-463-7297. 00:09:11.21\00:09:16.28 Anthony is calling from New York. 00:09:17.35\00:09:18.15 Anthony, you're on the air. 00:09:18.15\00:09:19.72 - [Anthony] Good evening, Pastor Doug. 00:09:21.29\00:09:22.42 - Evening. 00:09:22.42\00:09:23.29 - [Anthony] Yes, if you don't have enough callers, 00:09:24.66\00:09:26.59 I have a whole list of questions if you... 00:09:26.59\00:09:28.60 (Anthony laughs) 00:09:28.60\00:09:29.96 - Well, let's start with a first one and see how we go. 00:09:29.96\00:09:31.97 (Anthony laughs) 00:09:31.97\00:09:32.77 - [Anthony] Yes, for sure. 00:09:32.77\00:09:34.54 So my question is based on two verses, Genesis chap... 00:09:34.54\00:09:38.84 - Yeah, still go ahead. 00:09:41.58\00:09:42.38 - [Anthony] Is the first one. 00:09:42.38\00:09:43.18 And yeah, and the Lord God said, 00:09:43.18\00:09:44.85 "Behold, the man has become as one of us 00:09:44.85\00:09:46.72 to know good and evil, and now lest he put forth his hand 00:09:46.72\00:09:50.52 and take also of the tree of life and eat." 00:09:50.52\00:09:53.66 And the key part that I wanna focus on, "And live forever." 00:09:53.66\00:09:57.49 And then the second verse is first Corinthians chapter 15, 00:09:57.49\00:10:01.30 verse 53, where it says, "For this corruptible must put 00:10:01.30\00:10:05.17 on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality." 00:10:05.17\00:10:09.50 And so my question is, what is the purpose of this tree 00:10:09.50\00:10:12.77 of life that it was talking about in Genesis chapter three? 00:10:12.77\00:10:16.41 What is the purpose of the tree of life in heaven 00:10:16.41\00:10:18.68 if we're going to be immortal? 00:10:18.68\00:10:20.85 - That's a great question. 00:10:20.85\00:10:22.22 Some people say, "Well, it sounds like that the tree itself 00:10:23.52\00:10:26.62 has something to do with our living forever, 00:10:26.62\00:10:29.42 and yet so many other scriptures, 00:10:29.42\00:10:31.93 you mentioned one in first Corinthians, 00:10:31.93\00:10:33.29 sound like eternal life is a gift that God just weaves 00:10:33.29\00:10:37.30 into our very be in the new earth and in the resurrection. 00:10:37.30\00:10:42.27 So if we fail to eat from the tree of life, 00:10:43.81\00:10:47.11 will we begin to atrophy and ultimately die? 00:10:47.11\00:10:49.78 It almost makes it sound like the tree of life in one sense, 00:10:52.71\00:10:56.82 is gonna be a symbol of Jesus. 00:10:56.82\00:10:58.85 And through believing in Jesus and accepting Him, 00:10:58.85\00:11:01.89 we have eternal life. 00:11:01.89\00:11:04.06 Christ, He died on a tree. 00:11:04.06\00:11:07.36 And He says, "My body is food and my blood is drink." 00:11:07.36\00:11:11.40 Not that we're literally to turn into cannibals, 00:11:11.40\00:11:14.24 but Christ is the tree of life. 00:11:14.24\00:11:17.61 And so I think that when we eat 00:11:17.61\00:11:19.71 from the fruit of the tree of life, 00:11:19.71\00:11:21.14 it'll probably be vitalizing in some way, 00:11:21.14\00:11:23.88 but I think eternal life is a gift 00:11:23.88\00:11:26.18 that God gives us ultimately. 00:11:26.18\00:11:28.25 And if we happen to get stuck in some far corner 00:11:28.25\00:11:31.62 of the cosmos and couldn't get back to the tree, 00:11:31.62\00:11:34.06 I don't think we'd die. 00:11:34.06\00:11:35.72 I think that God sustains us. 00:11:35.72\00:11:38.23 So hopefully that makes sense. 00:11:38.23\00:11:41.30 Now I'm delving into some of the mysteries. 00:11:41.30\00:11:43.40 Do you have one more quick question, Anthony? 00:11:44.57\00:11:47.04 - [Anthony] Yes, this one is quick. 00:11:47.04\00:11:48.80 You hear clips and quotes a lot of times that we say. 00:11:48.80\00:11:51.81 Well, it's not really in the Bible. 00:11:51.81\00:11:53.41 We hear this quote that says, 00:11:53.41\00:11:55.11 "God helps those that helps themselves." 00:11:55.11\00:11:58.01 Is that biblical? 00:11:58.01\00:11:59.51 - Well, that's actually a quote from Benjamin Franklin. 00:11:59.51\00:12:02.68 I do think it's biblical. 00:12:02.68\00:12:04.75 It is a biblical truth in that, God will tell us what to do. 00:12:04.75\00:12:09.22 And as we make an effort, as we make a human effort 00:12:09.22\00:12:11.63 to do what God tells us to do, He then works miracles. 00:12:11.63\00:12:14.86 So I know an old Christian that used to say, 00:12:14.86\00:12:18.03 "The harder I work, the luckier I get." 00:12:18.03\00:12:20.70 And of course he's teasing saying that actually putting 00:12:20.70\00:12:23.61 in human effort makes you successful. 00:12:23.61\00:12:25.54 God told the disciples, 00:12:26.44\00:12:27.58 "I want you to cross the sea of Galilee," 00:12:27.58\00:12:30.21 and they were rowing, and they came into a storm, 00:12:30.21\00:12:33.68 and they weren't making any progress. 00:12:33.68\00:12:35.38 And the Bible says that Jesus came to them 00:12:35.38\00:12:37.29 while they were rowing. 00:12:37.29\00:12:38.82 So they were doing what they could humanly do. 00:12:38.82\00:12:40.72 And then He got in the boat, and instantly, 00:12:40.72\00:12:42.89 John chapter six, they were at their destination. 00:12:42.89\00:12:45.99 So I do think that the Lord blesses tenacity, 00:12:45.99\00:12:51.00 the Lord blesses diligence as Proverbs talk about that. 00:12:51.00\00:12:54.77 So the principle is true, 00:12:54.77\00:12:56.40 even though that statement is actually Ben Franklin 00:12:56.40\00:12:59.01 from "Poor Richard's Almanack." 00:12:59.01\00:13:01.01 Hey, thank you, Anthony. 00:13:01.01\00:13:02.01 Appreciate your questions. 00:13:02.01\00:13:03.68 And that does open another line. 00:13:03.68\00:13:05.01 With that, we're gonna go to Michael. 00:13:05.01\00:13:06.35 Thank you for your patience, Michael. 00:13:06.35\00:13:07.75 You're on the air with "Bible Answers Live." 00:13:07.75\00:13:10.02 - [Michael] Hello, Pastor Doug. 00:13:11.05\00:13:11.85 Thanks for taking my question. 00:13:11.85\00:13:13.42 - Yes, sir. 00:13:13.42\00:13:14.36 - [Michael] My question is regarding the kingdoms 00:13:15.72\00:13:19.06 of Daniel 6:26 and 2:44. 00:13:19.06\00:13:22.76 And if those are the same, 00:13:23.57\00:13:25.67 will the kingdom of Daniel 2:44 last until the end? 00:13:25.67\00:13:30.74 Will it also last until the end without being destroyed? 00:13:32.14\00:13:34.18 - Well, in Daniel six, 00:13:34.18\00:13:35.24 we're talking about Daniel in the lions den. 00:13:35.24\00:13:37.61 So you did you mean Daniel six? 00:13:38.85\00:13:40.55 - [Michael] Yeah, 6:26. 00:13:41.38\00:13:42.48 - Okay, so that's talking about... 00:13:42.48\00:13:44.15 Let me go here real quick. 00:13:44.15\00:13:46.09 Yeah, and this is the Kingdom of Persia. 00:13:46.09\00:13:48.89 That is not the last kingdom 00:13:48.89\00:13:50.23 that you find mentioned in Daniel. 00:13:50.23\00:13:52.23 - [Michael] Well, the kingdom of God is in Daniel 6:26. 00:13:52.23\00:13:57.10 - "And I make a decree 00:13:57.10\00:13:58.30 that in every dominion of my kingdom." 00:13:58.30\00:14:00.44 This a Darius' decree, he's a king of Persia, Meto-Persia. 00:14:00.44\00:14:03.91 He says, "I make a decree that in every dominion 00:14:03.91\00:14:05.67 of my kingdom, men must tremble in fear before the God 00:14:05.67\00:14:08.78 of Daniel for he is the living God." 00:14:08.78\00:14:10.45 Oh, I see what you're talking about, yeah. 00:14:10.45\00:14:12.05 "And steadfast forever. 00:14:12.05\00:14:13.35 His kingdom is the one that will not be destroyed. 00:14:13.35\00:14:15.42 His dominion shall endure to the end." 00:14:15.42\00:14:17.02 That kingdom, yes, is the God's kingdom that lasts forever. 00:14:17.02\00:14:20.69 - [Michael] Yeah, and if that's the same as Daniel 2:44, 00:14:22.29\00:14:24.83 will Daniel 2:44 also last until the end 00:14:24.83\00:14:28.33 without being destroyed. 00:14:28.33\00:14:30.10 - Well, it's Christ's kingdom is the one. 00:14:30.10\00:14:33.37 Yeah, that's the same kingdom. 00:14:33.37\00:14:35.80 I'm reading Daniel 2:44. 00:14:35.80\00:14:37.11 "And in the days of these Kings, God will set up a kingdom 00:14:37.11\00:14:39.51 that'll never be destroyed." 00:14:39.51\00:14:41.24 So the kingdom that does not fall is God's kingdom. 00:14:41.24\00:14:45.85 It lasts forever. 00:14:45.85\00:14:46.95 - [Michael] Right, it sounds like when it says it'll last 00:14:48.35\00:14:50.75 until the end, that it's a contemporaneous kingdom 00:14:50.75\00:14:53.32 to Nebuchadnezzar and King Darius, 00:14:53.32\00:14:57.03 and that it will last forever and not be destroyed. 00:14:57.03\00:15:00.66 - Yeah, so you'll see, 00:15:00.66\00:15:02.00 you're actually onto the main theme of the book of Daniel. 00:15:02.00\00:15:05.53 You can see in Daniel chapter two, in Daniel chapter three, 00:15:05.53\00:15:10.01 in Daniel chapter four. 00:15:10.01\00:15:12.47 I'm doing it in my mind right now. 00:15:12.47\00:15:13.71 Daniel chapter five with Belshazzar's feast. 00:15:13.71\00:15:16.14 Daniel six, Daniel in the lions den. 00:15:16.14\00:15:18.11 Daniel seven, with the visions of the the lion 00:15:18.11\00:15:21.82 and the bear and the leopard. 00:15:21.82\00:15:24.12 And then you go to Daniel eight, 00:15:24.12\00:15:26.05 where you got the vision of the goat and the ram. 00:15:26.05\00:15:28.86 All of those visions talk about the kingdom, 00:15:28.86\00:15:31.53 and it's the earthly kingdoms 00:15:31.53\00:15:33.09 that are at war with God's kingdom. 00:15:33.09\00:15:36.06 It's kind of like the curse that you see happening there 00:15:36.06\00:15:38.97 in Genesis chapter three, where it talks about the enmity 00:15:38.97\00:15:43.67 that would exist between the serpent, 00:15:43.67\00:15:45.51 the kingdoms of this world, and the woman, God's church. 00:15:45.51\00:15:49.54 But yeah, and ultimately, the message of Daniel 00:15:49.54\00:15:52.28 is that God's kingdom will destroy every other kingdom. 00:15:52.28\00:15:55.72 But I thank you for that. 00:15:55.72\00:15:57.02 And we've got a study guide on Daniel chapter six 00:15:57.02\00:16:01.12 and Daniel chapter two. 00:16:01.12\00:16:03.06 If you look in the historicals of prophecy, 00:16:03.06\00:16:06.16 we've got one called the millennial man 00:16:06.16\00:16:07.76 that talks about those earthly kingdoms. 00:16:07.76\00:16:10.13 Thank you, Michael. 00:16:10.13\00:16:11.23 We're gonna move on here and talk next 00:16:11.23\00:16:13.10 to David calling from California, somewhere. 00:16:13.10\00:16:17.61 David, you're on the air with "Bible Answers Live." 00:16:17.61\00:16:20.24 - [David] Good evening, Pastor Doug. 00:16:21.54\00:16:22.78 - Evening. 00:16:22.78\00:16:23.68 - [David] My question is, when Mary birthed Jesus, 00:16:25.05\00:16:29.02 did He receive her DNA? 00:16:29.02\00:16:31.05 - So if you had poked Jesus in the finger with a pen, 00:16:32.42\00:16:34.86 He would bleed. 00:16:34.86\00:16:36.16 And I expect that His blood would've had testimony 00:16:36.16\00:16:40.86 that He was related to Mary physically. 00:16:41.96\00:16:44.10 - [David] I think so. 00:16:45.40\00:16:46.20 - Yeah, because Jesus as a baby, 00:16:46.20\00:16:48.00 it says He became a man. 00:16:48.00\00:16:49.74 He was born and there was a fetus as He grew in her womb, 00:16:49.74\00:16:53.01 He was receiving blood and nourishment from her body. 00:16:53.01\00:16:55.68 There would've been evidence. 00:16:55.68\00:16:57.05 Now, they say in DNA, you got your mitochondrial DNA, 00:16:57.05\00:17:01.22 the mother's DNA, the question would be, 00:17:01.22\00:17:03.99 what would the father's DNA have looked like? 00:17:03.99\00:17:06.86 So, that's something of a mystery. 00:17:06.86\00:17:09.32 (Doug laughs) 00:17:09.32\00:17:10.26 But, yeah. - [David] Yes, it is. 00:17:10.26\00:17:11.63 - He definitely had... 00:17:11.63\00:17:13.29 He was human. 00:17:14.86\00:17:15.96 I think He probably had some- 00:17:15.96\00:17:17.30 - [David] Thank you. 00:17:17.30\00:17:18.33 - Visual similarities to Mary as well. 00:17:18.33\00:17:20.30 Thanks for your question, David. 00:17:20.30\00:17:21.44 Appreciate your patience. 00:17:21.44\00:17:22.54 And talking next with Wayne. 00:17:22.54\00:17:24.04 Wayne is calling from Idaho. 00:17:24.04\00:17:25.94 You're on the air with "Bible Answers Live." 00:17:25.94\00:17:28.31 - [Wayne] Thanks, Pastor Doug. 00:17:28.31\00:17:29.78 - Thank you. 00:17:29.78\00:17:30.85 - [Wayne] Looking at Genesis 20, 00:17:30.85\00:17:32.58 and I'm seeing where Abraham and Sarah lied to Abimelech 00:17:32.58\00:17:37.65 and said, "Tell him that you're my sister 00:17:38.75\00:17:40.22 so I'll be spared." 00:17:40.22\00:17:41.86 - Yes. 00:17:41.86\00:17:43.46 - [Wayne] In verse 16 after it's all said and done 00:17:43.46\00:17:45.86 and God has revealed to him, 00:17:45.86\00:17:48.10 Abimelech says that in verse 16, 00:17:48.10\00:17:51.30 that, "I have given thy brother 1000 pieces of silver. 00:17:51.30\00:17:56.00 Behold, he is to thee a covering of the eyes 00:17:56.00\00:18:00.64 unto all that are with thee." 00:18:00.64\00:18:01.64 What does that mean? 00:18:01.64\00:18:02.91 - Yeah, and I think some versions say a veil. 00:18:02.91\00:18:05.25 Abimelech, he's being a little sarcastic. 00:18:06.35\00:18:09.55 You see Abraham, he's supposed to have this great faith 00:18:09.55\00:18:12.32 in God, and yet he doesn't trust 00:18:12.32\00:18:13.69 that God's gonna protect him from the Philistines. 00:18:13.69\00:18:17.73 And he said, "Your sister..." 00:18:17.73\00:18:20.86 By this point, he knows that she's his wife. 00:18:20.86\00:18:23.23 And so he says, "Your sister," 00:18:23.23\00:18:26.20 and then he says that this will be a veil. 00:18:26.20\00:18:28.94 Now, when a woman was unmarried, 00:18:28.94\00:18:30.51 she was supposed to wear a veil. 00:18:30.51\00:18:32.44 And when Sarah went to dwell among the Philippines, 00:18:32.44\00:18:36.48 I'm not so sure that she was veiled. 00:18:36.48\00:18:38.01 He says, "Look, if you're worried about other men looking 00:18:38.01\00:18:41.62 at her and thinking, she's so beautiful, 00:18:41.62\00:18:42.95 they're gonna kill you for your wife, 00:18:42.95\00:18:44.75 maybe you should put a veil on her. 00:18:44.75\00:18:46.79 (Doug laughs) 00:18:46.79\00:18:48.16 And so, I think there's sort of a little sarcastic message 00:18:48.16\00:18:50.93 that Abimelech is telling Abraham in this. 00:18:50.93\00:18:53.40 It's funny, you should mention this. 00:18:53.40\00:18:54.83 I read through the Bible every year, 00:18:54.83\00:18:56.46 I read this story this morning. 00:18:56.46\00:18:58.07 - [Wayne] God works in amazing ways. 00:19:01.00\00:19:01.84 - Yeah, exactly. 00:19:01.84\00:19:02.97 It was fresh in my mind. 00:19:02.97\00:19:04.87 Hey, thanks so much, Wayne. 00:19:04.87\00:19:05.87 Appreciate your question. 00:19:05.87\00:19:07.74 You have a good night. 00:19:07.74\00:19:08.88 - [Wayne] Thank you, bye. - Bye-bye. 00:19:08.88\00:19:09.98 All right, you're gonna talk next with Austin. 00:19:09.98\00:19:12.41 Austin from North Carolina, 00:19:12.41\00:19:13.82 you're on the air with "Bible Answers Live." 00:19:13.82\00:19:16.08 - [Austin] Oh, hello, Pastor Doug. 00:19:17.12\00:19:18.29 So nice to speak with you. 00:19:18.29\00:19:19.99 Sure, missing Pastor Ross. 00:19:19.99\00:19:21.82 - Yes, I will. 00:19:21.82\00:19:23.59 I'll pass that all. 00:19:23.59\00:19:24.66 I'll let him know. 00:19:24.66\00:19:26.16 - [Austin] My question is about Genesis chapter nine, 00:19:27.50\00:19:30.17 versus 22 through 27. 00:19:31.33\00:19:33.44 I understand the brothers, Noah's son, 00:19:34.94\00:19:38.74 the sons of Noah; Ham, Shem and Japheth. 00:19:40.81\00:19:42.81 And then Ham had a son Canaan. 00:19:42.81\00:19:45.05 And I know there was an incident where the first brother, 00:19:45.05\00:19:48.52 Ham, went in and saw his father uncovered. 00:19:52.89\00:19:56.59 And he came out, and then the other guys went in. 00:19:56.59\00:19:58.83 And I'm guessing that it's because they turned away 00:19:58.83\00:20:02.36 with respect that they were proper in that. 00:20:02.36\00:20:05.60 My question really, pastor is, verse 27, 00:20:05.60\00:20:10.31 when it talks about how Canaan is the one- 00:20:10.31\00:20:15.38 - Gets cursed. 00:20:16.48\00:20:18.01 - [Austin] Gets cursed is Canaan. 00:20:18.01\00:20:19.28 And he would be the servant to all the brothers. 00:20:19.28\00:20:21.18 And I just don't understand why he, as the son, 00:20:21.18\00:20:24.35 he's not mentioned is doing anything at all on the story. 00:20:24.35\00:20:27.42 And I know we're not supposed 00:20:27.42\00:20:28.56 to have the sins of our fathers, right? 00:20:28.56\00:20:30.63 So that was confusing to me. 00:20:30.63\00:20:32.13 Please explain that. 00:20:32.13\00:20:33.46 - Evidently, what happened, it says Noah drank wine, 00:20:33.46\00:20:36.60 and he became intoxicated. 00:20:36.60\00:20:38.07 I'm not sure that they understood the full effects 00:20:38.07\00:20:39.90 of what that would do back then. 00:20:39.90\00:20:41.44 And he was stumbling around in his tent and he was naked. 00:20:41.44\00:20:44.47 Ham, went in probably with his son 00:20:44.47\00:20:47.98 who would've been younger. 00:20:47.98\00:20:49.51 And at this point they had been out of the arc 00:20:49.51\00:20:53.21 for some time 'cuz Noah's now farming. 00:20:53.21\00:20:55.08 And Ham, instead of saying, "Oh, this isn't good. 00:20:57.49\00:21:00.49 Let's cover grandpa up." 00:21:00.49\00:21:02.42 They walk out of the tent and Canaan begins to mock grandpa 00:21:02.42\00:21:07.03 that was stumbling around drunk and showing great disrespect 00:21:07.03\00:21:10.33 for his elders. 00:21:10.33\00:21:13.17 And so, a curse came from Noah upon him 00:21:13.17\00:21:17.37 and his descendant, Canaan, 00:21:17.37\00:21:19.24 who I think was with his father when he went in. 00:21:19.24\00:21:21.51 - [Austin] I see. 00:21:21.51\00:21:22.91 - Or his father maybe came out and told Canaan what happened 00:21:22.91\00:21:26.01 and Canaan began to mock him among the clan and the tribe. 00:21:26.01\00:21:29.68 So the curse fell on him. 00:21:29.68\00:21:32.99 - [Austin] How would I have learned that 00:21:34.12\00:21:35.36 without asking you, I mean? 00:21:35.36\00:21:36.96 (Austin laughs) 00:21:36.96\00:21:38.09 - Well, I didn't get it through a dream. 00:21:38.09\00:21:40.43 I actually read commentaries 00:21:40.43\00:21:42.03 and some other good Bible scholars. 00:21:42.03\00:21:43.06 - [Austin] Commentaries. - Yeah. 00:21:43.06\00:21:44.90 You look in some, and they're free. 00:21:44.90\00:21:46.47 Many of 'em are free now. 00:21:46.47\00:21:47.77 You can go online and you type in this verse 00:21:47.77\00:21:49.34 and you'll see some of the great commentaries 00:21:49.34\00:21:51.81 of the Protestant performers. 00:21:51.81\00:21:52.77 - [Austin] Oh, very well. 00:21:52.77\00:21:53.98 - These guys read Hebrew, Greek and Latin. 00:21:53.98\00:21:55.24 And they'll also read some of the 00:21:55.24\00:21:57.31 other Hebrew writer's additional insight on these things. 00:21:57.31\00:22:02.18 'Cuz some of it is cultural. 00:22:02.18\00:22:03.49 They understood that it would only have mentioned Ham, 00:22:03.49\00:22:06.69 but Canaan must have participated in the bad 00:22:06.69\00:22:09.46 behavior. - [Austin] Thank you so very much. 00:22:11.13\00:22:12.46 Now I can move on. 00:22:12.46\00:22:13.29 - All right, good. 00:22:13.29\00:22:14.56 Sounds like you're reading through your Bible. 00:22:14.56\00:22:16.40 - [Austin] That's right. - All right, good for you. 00:22:16.40\00:22:17.87 - [Austin] Thank you so much, pastor. 00:22:17.87\00:22:19.23 - Thank you, Austin. - [Austin] Bye-bye now. 00:22:19.23\00:22:20.04 - Appreciate your question. 00:22:20.04\00:22:21.44 And yeah, if you wanna call in with you Bible questions, 00:22:21.44\00:22:23.81 we still got the best part of the program to go. 00:22:23.81\00:22:26.57 Call 800-463-7297. 00:22:26.57\00:22:31.25 800-463-7297. 00:22:31.25\00:22:32.38 All right, we're gonna talk next with Lynn, 00:22:34.25\00:22:36.42 who's calling from Pennsylvania. 00:22:36.42\00:22:38.42 Lynn, you're on the air with "Bible Answers Live.". 00:22:38.42\00:22:41.06 - [Lynn] Well, hello, Pastor Doug. 00:22:42.19\00:22:43.83 - Hi. 00:22:43.83\00:22:45.16 - [Lynn] There's something that's got my curiosity going 00:22:45.16\00:22:47.30 for quite a while. 00:22:47.30\00:22:49.10 When you read Revelation chapter four verse two and three, 00:22:49.10\00:22:54.07 and then you go on and you read Revelation chapter five, 00:22:56.00\00:23:00.11 one all the way through seven, 00:23:00.11\00:23:02.34 my question is, when John is taken up by the Spirit 00:23:02.34\00:23:07.05 into heaven and he sees on the throne, 00:23:07.05\00:23:11.35 heaven, one that sat on the throne and he describes Him. 00:23:12.75\00:23:17.36 Then I'm thinking, supposedly, nobody has ever seen God, 00:23:18.69\00:23:22.33 the Father, but then it says in chapter five, 00:23:22.33\00:23:26.23 that the one that sits on the throne has the book written 00:23:26.23\00:23:31.31 and then how John weeps because- 00:23:32.11\00:23:35.01 - No man can open the book. 00:23:35.01\00:23:36.14 - [Lynn] No man was found worthy, right. 00:23:36.14\00:23:38.58 And then he hands the book to the Lamb. 00:23:38.58\00:23:43.65 So is that God, the Father, 00:23:44.45\00:23:46.25 that John is seeing in this vision, or? 00:23:46.25\00:23:48.82 And then he does see Jesus take from the right hand 00:23:48.82\00:23:53.90 of He who sits on the throne. 00:23:54.76\00:23:56.26 So that would be God, the Father and Jesus, wouldn't it? 00:23:56.26\00:23:58.23 - Yep, I think it is God, the Father. 00:23:58.23\00:23:59.77 But you notice, I don't think he's seeing the full glory 00:23:59.77\00:24:02.70 of God's face there. 00:24:02.70\00:24:04.57 Moses asked, he said, "Lord, can I see your glory?" 00:24:04.57\00:24:07.28 God says, "Yes, I'll let you see my glory, 00:24:07.28\00:24:09.18 but you can't look on My face and live." 00:24:09.18\00:24:11.88 And so, when God gave the 10 commandments on Mount Sinai, 00:24:11.88\00:24:16.38 His glory was veiled in thundering clouds 00:24:17.79\00:24:20.62 and no man could look upon it. 00:24:20.62\00:24:22.19 And then the Bible says, no man has seen the Father. 00:24:23.53\00:24:25.63 Now, we will ultimately see God, 00:24:25.63\00:24:27.73 'cuz one of the last things it says in Revelation, it says, 00:24:27.73\00:24:30.07 "And we will see His face." 00:24:30.07\00:24:32.13 Blessed are the pure in spirit, they will see... 00:24:33.94\00:24:37.97 Blessed are the pure in heart, they will see God. 00:24:37.97\00:24:41.01 In our sinful condition, we can't do that. 00:24:41.01\00:24:42.91 And keep in mind, John is seeing these things in vision. 00:24:42.91\00:24:46.55 He's probably not literally. 00:24:46.55\00:24:48.18 So, the Lord may have veiled or blurred the glory of God 00:24:48.18\00:24:51.22 to some extent so he could see it. 00:24:51.22\00:24:52.75 But that must have been God, the Father, 00:24:52.75\00:24:54.52 'cuz then he's giving the book to God, the Son. 00:24:54.52\00:24:57.29 - [Lynn] Right, and also, he must be describing the throne 00:24:58.66\00:25:02.63 and not 'cuz he said that He that sat 00:25:02.63\00:25:07.37 was to look upon like Jasper. 00:25:07.37\00:25:10.21 - Yeah. 00:25:10.21\00:25:11.54 Now, do you know if you look in Daniel chapter seven, 00:25:11.54\00:25:14.01 and we're gonna have to cut off for a break here 00:25:14.01\00:25:15.61 in just a minute, but I just want you to notice Lynn, 00:25:15.61\00:25:18.41 that in Daniel seven, it talks about the Father and the Son. 00:25:18.41\00:25:22.12 It says, "I saw one like the Ancient of Days." 00:25:22.12\00:25:24.95 And then you go to verse 11, 00:25:24.95\00:25:26.49 "And one like the Son of man comes before Him." 00:25:26.49\00:25:31.23 So, yeah. 00:25:31.23\00:25:33.13 Sorry, verse 13, "I was watching and behold One like the Son 00:25:33.13\00:25:35.66 of man came before Him." 00:25:35.66\00:25:36.73 So Revelation is very much like an echo 00:25:36.73\00:25:39.63 of the book of Daniel. 00:25:39.63\00:25:40.60 So you're seeing both there. 00:25:40.60\00:25:42.04 Thank you, Lynn, very much for your question. 00:25:42.04\00:25:44.27 And the listening friends, 00:25:44.27\00:25:45.51 well be back with questions in just a moment. 00:25:45.51\00:25:47.64 (bright upbeat music) 00:25:47.64\00:25:51.25 - [Announcer] Stay tuned, "Bible Answers Live" 00:25:51.25\00:25:53.45 will return shortly. 00:25:53.45\00:25:55.45 (bright upbeat music) 00:25:55.45\00:25:58.89 (sinister music) 00:25:58.89\00:26:01.69 - [Announcer 2] Throughout recorded history, 00:26:08.70\00:26:10.87 tales of ghosts and spirits can be found in folklore 00:26:10.87\00:26:14.44 in nearly every country and culture. 00:26:14.44\00:26:17.61 Egyptians built pyramids to help guide the spirits 00:26:18.97\00:26:21.51 of their leaders. 00:26:21.51\00:26:22.84 Rome sanctioned holidays to honor 00:26:22.84\00:26:25.18 and appease the spirits of their dead. 00:26:25.18\00:26:27.62 Even the Bible tells of a king that used a witch 00:26:27.62\00:26:31.15 to contact the spirit of a deceased prophet. 00:26:31.15\00:26:34.12 Today, ancient folklore of spirits and apparitions 00:26:34.12\00:26:37.49 have gone from mere superstitions 00:26:37.49\00:26:39.79 to mainstream entertainment and reality. 00:26:39.79\00:26:43.30 Scientific organizations investigate stories 00:26:43.30\00:26:45.77 of hauntings and sightings, 00:26:45.77\00:26:47.30 trying to prove once and for all, the existence of ghosts. 00:26:47.30\00:26:52.24 Even with all the newfound technology 00:26:54.41\00:26:56.85 and centuries of stories all over the world, 00:26:56.85\00:27:00.08 there is still no clear cut answer. 00:27:00.08\00:27:03.28 So how do we know what's true? 00:27:05.09\00:27:07.49 Why do these stories persist? 00:27:08.99\00:27:11.76 Does it even matter? 00:27:12.53\00:27:14.10 We invite you to look inside and find out for yourself. 00:27:16.00\00:27:20.84 Visit deathtruth.com. 00:27:22.10\00:27:24.74 (slow music) 00:27:28.04\00:27:29.11 - Every year, 40,000 souls in North America, 00:27:29.11\00:27:31.65 end their own lives. 00:27:31.65\00:27:33.52 Suicide is a terrible tragedy. 00:27:33.52\00:27:35.82 And while it's difficult to talk about, 00:27:35.82\00:27:37.95 we need to face it together as Christians. 00:27:37.95\00:27:40.62 That's why in my new book, "Choosing Life," 00:27:40.62\00:27:43.09 I share the biblical perspective about suicide, 00:27:43.09\00:27:46.13 answering some difficult questions about faith 00:27:46.13\00:27:48.33 and salvation along the way, 00:27:48.33\00:27:50.13 and offering practical tips 00:27:50.13\00:27:52.10 that should help and encourage others. 00:27:52.10\00:27:54.20 Jesus wants us to choose an abundant life in Him. 00:27:54.20\00:27:57.44 Okay, friends, let's start with the basics. 00:27:59.21\00:28:01.81 We know we're here, but we're not here for very long. 00:28:01.81\00:28:05.05 So the most important thing would be, 00:28:05.05\00:28:06.92 if we could learn during this life, how to live forever, 00:28:06.92\00:28:10.62 this is the central focus of Amazing Facts. 00:28:10.62\00:28:13.56 Now, there's a lot of wonderful things 00:28:13.56\00:28:14.69 that Christian ministries do. 00:28:14.69\00:28:16.22 I believe in Christian education. 00:28:16.22\00:28:18.26 But if the schools lose the message of salvation, 00:28:18.26\00:28:21.46 you end up with more educated sinners. 00:28:21.46\00:28:23.87 I think it's very important for us to build churches. 00:28:23.87\00:28:26.97 But if the churches lose the message of salvation, 00:28:26.97\00:28:29.90 they just become buildings and shells. 00:28:29.90\00:28:32.34 I think it's important to have a medical ministry 00:28:32.34\00:28:34.48 and build hospitals, but if they separate that 00:28:34.48\00:28:36.95 from the message of salvation, 00:28:36.95\00:28:38.95 you just prolong a sinner's life for a little while. 00:28:38.95\00:28:41.48 That's why for years, Amazing Facts has made it our focus 00:28:41.48\00:28:45.15 to present the saving truth that sets people free. 00:28:45.15\00:28:48.42 And friends, we wanna thank you 00:28:48.42\00:28:49.59 for your support and your gifts. 00:28:49.59\00:28:51.23 We'll do our very best to convert those resources 00:28:51.23\00:28:53.63 into the currency of heaven. 00:28:53.63\00:28:54.93 May God bless you and keep Amazing Facts in your prayers. 00:28:54.93\00:28:59.10 (bright upbeat music) 00:28:59.10\00:29:02.34 - [Announcer] You're listening to "Bible Answers Live," 00:29:02.34\00:29:04.97 where every question answered, provides a clearer picture 00:29:04.97\00:29:07.98 of God and His plan to save you. 00:29:07.98\00:29:10.71 So what are you waiting for? And we're gonna go back to the phones here 00:29:53.02\00:29:55.52 and take some questions. 00:29:55.52\00:29:56.99 Talking next with Efrank. 00:29:56.99\00:29:59.93 Efrank, you're on the air with "Bible Answers Live." 00:29:59.93\00:30:03.03 - [Efrank] Yes, good evening, Pastor Doug. 00:30:03.03\00:30:05.60 I have a question that is always on my mind. 00:30:05.60\00:30:09.54 This has to do with a person that I know 00:30:09.54\00:30:14.61 who was involved with Satanism. 00:30:15.41\00:30:19.05 She was a person that said that she was consecrated to Jesus 00:30:21.25\00:30:26.32 and said she could not get out of her Satanic cult 00:30:27.69\00:30:32.56 because her father was a descendant of other Satanists. 00:30:32.56\00:30:36.36 And so, she also informed me that she owned stock 00:30:36.36\00:30:41.27 in the 19th century from a, 00:30:41.27\00:30:43.84 what they call a railway company here in New York city 00:30:45.84\00:30:50.81 in the Borough of Queens. 00:30:51.71\00:30:53.21 So, I told her, "Why did you tell me that you're consecrated 00:30:53.21\00:30:56.75 to Christ and you do not leave 00:30:56.75\00:30:58.25 if you were consecrated to Christ?" 00:30:58.25\00:31:00.69 And she told me also 00:31:00.69\00:31:01.92 that her grandmother baptized her in Christianity. 00:31:01.92\00:31:04.49 Now, my question for you, Pastor Doug is, 00:31:04.49\00:31:06.93 can a person who's that way leave the cult 00:31:06.93\00:31:10.53 and automatically not lose their soul or their life 00:31:10.53\00:31:13.97 and become consecrated towards Christ 00:31:13.97\00:31:16.14 and become a born again Christian, 00:31:16.14\00:31:17.61 and be a Bible believing person? 00:31:17.61\00:31:20.04 - Yeah, sometimes people think because my parents were 00:31:20.04\00:31:24.65 into Satanism or you were part of a cult or you... 00:31:24.65\00:31:27.88 When I was a kid, in our family, 00:31:27.88\00:31:30.85 my mother was in show business 00:31:30.85\00:31:32.19 and a lot of her friends were into the Occult 00:31:32.19\00:31:34.26 and we used Ouija boards and they were into astrology, 00:31:34.26\00:31:38.36 and all kinds of things that are unbiblical. 00:31:38.36\00:31:40.13 But when you seek after God, you're born again. 00:31:40.13\00:31:44.47 Those old things pass away, and all things are made new. 00:31:44.47\00:31:48.44 So we don't need to worry about that. 00:31:48.44\00:31:50.47 So I wouldn't let anything like 00:31:50.47\00:31:52.71 that from the past concern you. 00:31:52.71\00:31:54.94 If once a person has accepted Jesus, 00:31:54.94\00:31:58.75 then the past doesn't matter at all anymore. 00:31:58.75\00:32:01.62 All right, friends, we're gonna go to... 00:32:02.75\00:32:04.12 Hopefully that helps you, Efrank, with your question. 00:32:04.12\00:32:06.09 Talking to David in New Jersey. 00:32:06.09\00:32:07.72 David, and you're welcome 00:32:07.72\00:32:09.82 to the "Bible Answers Live" program. 00:32:09.82\00:32:11.89 - [David 2] Good morning or afternoon 00:32:13.43\00:32:15.46 or whatever time it is. 00:32:15.46\00:32:16.80 I'm truck driving and I'm in New Jersey. 00:32:16.80\00:32:19.57 I'm from Virginia. 00:32:19.57\00:32:21.07 But it's so good and happy to talk with you Pastor Doug. 00:32:21.07\00:32:26.14 And I was hoping to talk to Pastor Ross too, 00:32:27.21\00:32:29.58 but he's not there. 00:32:29.58\00:32:31.11 - You'll have to call another time too. 00:32:31.11\00:32:33.65 - [David 2] Exactly. 00:32:33.65\00:32:34.72 I just wanted to say thank you for your ministry. 00:32:36.05\00:32:39.09 And I became a Christian through your ministry 00:32:39.09\00:32:43.22 and watching your prophecy seminars. 00:32:43.22\00:32:45.99 - Oh, praise, Lord. - [David 2] So I'm very happy. 00:32:49.40\00:32:52.03 Okay, my question is, in Psalms 91 verse five to 12. 00:32:52.03\00:32:57.01 It said as I read that basically, 00:33:00.41\00:33:05.08 we'll be protected through the tribulations 00:33:05.08\00:33:09.25 through those verses, is that correct? 00:33:10.29\00:33:12.62 - Well, let me read this for our friends who are listening. 00:33:12.62\00:33:15.46 It says that, yeah, it says, 00:33:15.46\00:33:17.76 "You'll not be afraid of the terror by night 00:33:17.76\00:33:19.76 nor the arrow that flies by day, nor of the pestilence." 00:33:19.76\00:33:23.03 That word, pestilence, means plague. 00:33:23.03\00:33:24.93 "That walks in darkness. 00:33:24.93\00:33:26.57 Nor the destruction that lays waste at noonday. 00:33:26.57\00:33:29.30 1000 may fall at your side and 10,000 at your right hand, 00:33:29.30\00:33:33.07 but it shall not come near you. 00:33:33.07\00:33:34.51 Only with your eyes will you look 00:33:34.51\00:33:36.11 and see the reward of the wicked. 00:33:36.11\00:33:38.05 Because you've made the Lord who is my refuge, 00:33:38.05\00:33:40.22 even the most high you're dwelling place, 00:33:40.22\00:33:43.02 no evil will befall you, 00:33:43.02\00:33:44.35 nor shall any plague come near you're dwelling." 00:33:44.35\00:33:47.29 And so, God protected the children of Israel 00:33:47.29\00:33:51.06 when the plagues fell on Egypt. 00:33:51.06\00:33:53.19 He will protect us when the seven last plagues fall 00:33:53.19\00:33:57.07 that are described in Revelation in 15 and 16. 00:33:57.07\00:34:00.10 And so, yes, I believe that this is a promise we can claim. 00:34:00.10\00:34:03.57 Now, that does not mean, some people might think, 00:34:03.57\00:34:06.24 "Well, Pastor Doug, does that mean that I never need to take 00:34:06.24\00:34:10.18 any health precautions if there's a pandemic in the 00:34:10.18\00:34:15.25 world?" This is not a verse for that. 00:34:16.05\00:34:17.62 The Bible says, "Don't tempt the Lord." 00:34:17.62\00:34:19.12 So if there's something you can do to keep yourself healthy, 00:34:19.12\00:34:21.09 keep yourself healthy. 00:34:21.09\00:34:22.69 But when the seven last plagues fall, 00:34:22.69\00:34:24.29 these supernatural plagues from God, 00:34:24.29\00:34:28.50 He promises to protect His people during that time. 00:34:28.50\00:34:31.13 - [David 2] Yeah, verse 11 says the angels 00:34:32.17\00:34:35.40 will take charge over us. 00:34:35.40\00:34:36.54 - Yes, He'll give His angel charge over you 00:34:36.54\00:34:38.61 to keep you in all your ways. 00:34:38.61\00:34:40.91 - [David 2] Okay, that's great. 00:34:40.91\00:34:42.11 That's what I wanted to confirm. 00:34:42.11\00:34:44.11 - Yep, well, thank you. 00:34:44.11\00:34:45.05 - [David 2] Well, God bless. - God bless. 00:34:46.51\00:34:47.82 Good to talk with you, David, and be safe on the road. 00:34:47.82\00:34:51.45 - [David 2] Thank you, sir. 00:34:51.45\00:34:52.42 (Doug laughs) 00:34:52.42\00:34:53.25 - Bye-bye. 00:34:53.25\00:34:54.16 All right, well, let's see here. 00:34:55.72\00:34:57.33 We're gonna talk with Jemima, who's calling from Canada. 00:34:57.33\00:35:01.20 Am I saying that right, or is it Jemima? 00:35:01.20\00:35:03.30 - [Jemima] Yes, you said right, Jemima. 00:35:03.30\00:35:04.47 - Yes, in your question. 00:35:04.47\00:35:05.87 Yeah. 00:35:05.87\00:35:07.17 - [Jemima] Hi, Pastor Doug. 00:35:07.17\00:35:08.50 I just wanted you to know that I was so blessed 00:35:08.50\00:35:10.61 by the previous ministry that you had, 00:35:10.61\00:35:14.28 the Panorama prophesy. - Oh, wonderful. 00:35:14.28\00:35:16.04 - [Jemima] And I understand more about the Bible, 00:35:16.04\00:35:21.12 and yeah, it's so nice, Pastor Doug. 00:35:22.25\00:35:23.89 I watch from the beginning till the end. 00:35:23.89\00:35:27.19 Anyway. - Thank you. 00:35:27.19\00:35:28.32 - Thank you, guys, for your ministry. 00:35:28.32\00:35:30.03 And anyway, my question Pastor Doug, 00:35:30.03\00:35:32.86 is from the book of Proverbs chapter eight verse 26. 00:35:32.86\00:35:37.67 So it says here, "While as yet he had not made the earth." 00:35:40.64\00:35:45.24 - Now, you're in proverb chapter eight, and what's verse? 00:35:46.68\00:35:50.61 - [Jemima] Proverbs chapter eight verse 27, sorry. 00:35:50.61\00:35:54.85 Yeah, 26 to... 00:35:55.65\00:35:56.99 No, 22 to... 00:35:56.99\00:35:58.05 Actually, but I was little bit had like confusion here. 00:35:59.42\00:36:03.22 It says verse 27, "When he prepared the heaven, I was 00:36:03.22\00:36:07.76 there, when he drew a circle on the face of the deep." 00:36:08.86\00:36:11.50 So my question, Pastor Doug, 00:36:12.83\00:36:14.57 if this mean that we were angels before, 00:36:16.30\00:36:20.08 even when God created us? 00:36:21.04\00:36:23.41 What are we? 00:36:23.41\00:36:24.55 And it says also here from I... 00:36:24.55\00:36:28.52 Because somebody had like do... 00:36:28.52\00:36:33.19 My boss had it with me and they were teaching this. 00:36:33.19\00:36:36.69 I already was born like Solomon says, 00:36:36.69\00:36:39.19 and he was in the kingdom of heaven, 00:36:39.19\00:36:41.00 and they said that we were angels. 00:36:41.00\00:36:42.33 - No. 00:36:42.33\00:36:43.43 Yeah, no, we were never angels before. 00:36:43.43\00:36:47.20 Let me just give you something to think about, Jemima. 00:36:47.20\00:36:49.30 When you go to the beginning of chapter eight. 00:36:49.30\00:36:52.21 Chapter eight is a beautiful soliloquy. 00:36:52.21\00:36:55.01 It's like a poem of wisdom. 00:36:55.01\00:36:57.91 These are Proverbs. 00:36:57.91\00:36:59.61 This is not a doctrinal discourse. 00:36:59.61\00:37:02.12 It says, "Does wisdom cry out?" 00:37:02.12\00:37:03.92 Well, of course, wisdom doesn't cry. 00:37:03.92\00:37:05.62 Wisdom's not a person. 00:37:05.62\00:37:07.29 "And understanding lift up her voice. 00:37:07.29\00:37:09.82 She takes her stand on the top of the hill." 00:37:09.82\00:37:12.16 Everything it's saying here is talking about wisdom 00:37:12.16\00:37:14.83 and it's using all of these allegories and analogies. 00:37:14.83\00:37:18.50 It has nothing to do with people being born. 00:37:18.50\00:37:21.07 It's saying wisdom was there with God 00:37:21.07\00:37:23.00 in the very beginning when he formed the earth. 00:37:23.00\00:37:25.01 And that's what you're reading there from verse 27. 00:37:25.01\00:37:27.51 "When he prepared the heavens, I wisdom was there, 00:37:27.51\00:37:30.85 when he drew a circle on the face of the deep, 00:37:30.85\00:37:32.95 when he established the clouds above, 00:37:32.95\00:37:34.92 when he strengthened the fountains of the deep, 00:37:34.92\00:37:36.58 when he assigned to the sea it's limit, 00:37:36.58\00:37:38.99 so the waters would not transgress his command, 00:37:38.99\00:37:41.52 when he marked the foundations of the earth. 00:37:41.52\00:37:43.26 Then I wisdom was beside him as a master craftsman. 00:37:43.26\00:37:47.23 And I," again, speaking of wisdom, "Was daily his delight, 00:37:47.23\00:37:50.57 rejoicing always before him." 00:37:50.57\00:37:52.43 It's all a poem about wisdom 00:37:52.43\00:37:54.57 if you read from the beginning of this chapter. 00:37:54.57\00:37:57.07 So the idea that this is saying that we had a preexistence 00:37:57.07\00:38:00.68 is totally unbiblical. 00:38:00.68\00:38:02.71 And I'd be very careful about people you're studying with 00:38:02.71\00:38:05.61 that say that you existed before you were born. 00:38:05.61\00:38:09.38 That's almost like teaching a form of reincarnation, 00:38:09.38\00:38:13.15 and that's a very unbiblical teaching. 00:38:13.15\00:38:16.12 Thank you, Jemima. 00:38:16.12\00:38:17.16 And if you wanna know more about that, 00:38:17.16\00:38:20.43 we have a lesson that talks about death. 00:38:20.43\00:38:24.93 And the lesson on death will actually talk 00:38:24.93\00:38:27.17 about preexistence a little bit. 00:38:27.17\00:38:29.17 So if you wanna know more of about that, 00:38:29.17\00:38:31.17 we have a lesson called "Are the Dead Really Dead?" 00:38:31.17\00:38:33.48 And we'll send you a free copy of that. 00:38:33.48\00:38:35.18 That is our resource number 800-835-6747. 00:38:35.18\00:38:38.18 All right, thanks for Jemima's call. 00:38:40.98\00:38:42.95 And we're gonna talk to, let me see here. 00:38:42.95\00:38:46.29 All right, Gibson in Australia. 00:38:47.32\00:38:49.09 Gibson, you're on the air with "Bible Answers Live." 00:38:49.09\00:38:51.76 - [Gibson] Thank you, how are you, Doug? 00:38:52.83\00:38:54.00 - Doing really well. 00:38:54.00\00:38:55.16 - [Gibson] That's good. 00:38:56.43\00:38:57.47 Thank you for taking my question. 00:38:57.47\00:38:59.57 So my question is just in relation to Acts 2:17. 00:38:59.57\00:39:02.50 So, would you like me to read that to you? 00:39:03.61\00:39:05.04 - Sure. 00:39:05.04\00:39:06.61 - [Gibson] Oh, yep. 00:39:06.61\00:39:07.98 "And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, 00:39:07.98\00:39:10.91 that'll pour out my spirit on all flesh. 00:39:10.91\00:39:14.02 Your son and your daughter shall prophesy. 00:39:14.02\00:39:16.52 Your young men shall see visions 00:39:16.52\00:39:18.82 and your old men shall dream dreams." 00:39:18.82\00:39:21.26 So my question is just, does Satan have the power 00:39:22.82\00:39:27.86 to give people dreams? 00:39:29.23\00:39:32.43 And are there any examples? 00:39:32.43\00:39:33.40 'Cuz I know throughout the Bible, 00:39:33.40\00:39:34.47 there's always example the God appearing 00:39:34.47\00:39:36.47 to people in dreams or angels appearing to people. 00:39:36.47\00:39:39.21 So I was just wondering if Satan can do that as well. 00:39:39.21\00:39:41.94 - Yeah, I think that most people listening, 00:39:41.94\00:39:43.95 I'm expecting Gibson, you've had this experience 00:39:43.95\00:39:46.25 where you have something called a nightmare. 00:39:46.25\00:39:49.18 And, I think that in the book of Job, 00:39:49.18\00:39:53.25 and I remember reading it, I'm trying to remember. 00:39:53.25\00:39:56.06 It talks about when the hair stood up on my flesh 00:39:56.06\00:39:59.63 and a bean went by- 00:39:59.63\00:40:01.56 - [Gibson] I think that was 4:12. 00:40:01.56\00:40:02.66 - I see, yeah, you're acquainted with it. 00:40:02.66\00:40:04.53 But it seems like one of the speakers in the book of Job, 00:40:04.53\00:40:07.84 talks about what is a nightmare-like experience. 00:40:07.84\00:40:11.71 And even in Genesis, 00:40:11.71\00:40:13.07 it says that a horror of darkness came on Abraham. 00:40:13.07\00:40:17.38 So God can certainly influence dreams. 00:40:17.38\00:40:20.98 The devil, if the devil can tempt us, 00:40:20.98\00:40:22.78 he can probably influence our dreams. 00:40:22.78\00:40:24.82 He can put suggestions in our minds, we know that. 00:40:24.82\00:40:27.86 And most of the time, our dreams are not God or the devil. 00:40:27.86\00:40:31.59 Most of the time, our dreams are our brain simply rebooting, 00:40:31.59\00:40:36.63 so to speak. 00:40:36.63\00:40:37.97 And you'll be dreaming about the things 00:40:37.97\00:40:42.10 that you were doing during the day. 00:40:42.10\00:40:44.31 And I know if I play a lot of racketball, 00:40:44.31\00:40:46.94 I might even dream of it in my sleep. 00:40:46.94\00:40:49.04 So, whatever. 00:40:49.04\00:40:51.11 And Ecclesiastes says a dream comes 00:40:51.11\00:40:52.98 through the multitude of business. 00:40:52.98\00:40:54.65 So, does that answer your question? 00:40:57.42\00:40:59.15 - [Gibson] Yes, sort of. 00:41:00.52\00:41:02.16 So with obviously Job, I think it's Job 4:15. 00:41:02.16\00:41:05.99 It appeared that he was awake and the Spirit came over him. 00:41:05.99\00:41:09.30 That told him to show whether like there's an actual example 00:41:09.30\00:41:12.20 in the Bible of someone Satan actually appearing 00:41:12.20\00:41:14.80 or giving a dream to someone. 00:41:14.80\00:41:16.30 - I can't think of any where a person that has a nightmare, 00:41:17.91\00:41:21.34 other than like I said, that story in Genesis 00:41:21.34\00:41:25.41 where it says a darkness came over him. 00:41:25.41\00:41:27.52 Now, I think that that darkness actually 00:41:27.52\00:41:29.22 was even divinely inspired. 00:41:29.22\00:41:31.12 God was about to tell Abraham that his descendants 00:41:31.12\00:41:33.92 would be captive in a foreign land 00:41:33.92\00:41:36.22 where they were going to be oppressed 400 years. 00:41:36.22\00:41:39.09 So, that even may have come from the Lord. 00:41:39.09\00:41:41.63 But, yeah, good question. 00:41:43.57\00:41:45.63 I can't find an example, 00:41:45.63\00:41:47.37 at least not at the tip of my fingers, of a nightmare. 00:41:47.37\00:41:50.17 But we know the devil can... 00:41:50.17\00:41:51.64 I think that the devil can certainly influence our dreams. 00:41:51.64\00:41:55.78 I know several people that say they've woken up 00:41:55.78\00:41:57.61 during the night and they felt like someone 00:41:57.61\00:41:58.75 was trying to strangle them 00:41:58.75\00:41:59.91 or they have a terrifying experience. 00:41:59.91\00:42:03.92 So, yeah. 00:42:03.92\00:42:05.59 All right, let me see here. 00:42:05.59\00:42:07.62 Michael is calling from Florida. 00:42:10.33\00:42:11.99 Michael, you're on the air with "Bible Answers Live." 00:42:11.99\00:42:14.73 - [Michael 2] Hello, Pastor Doug. 00:42:16.10\00:42:17.10 - Hi. 00:42:17.10\00:42:18.00 - Hi, yeah, so I was calling because lately I've been, 00:42:19.37\00:42:22.67 well, loosely looking at work from different Old Testament 00:42:22.67\00:42:27.74 and New Testament scholars. 00:42:28.91\00:42:30.85 And one thing I've seen a lot of New Testament 00:42:30.85\00:42:33.65 and the Old Testament scholars say is that, 00:42:33.65\00:42:36.95 a lot of the prophecies that are traditionally said 00:42:38.29\00:42:41.59 to refer to things that are in the New Testament. 00:42:41.59\00:42:43.43 When I say traditionally, as in like in the tradition 00:42:43.43\00:42:45.56 of say Protestant churches, or even in Christian churches, 00:42:45.56\00:42:48.76 modern Christian of them. 00:42:48.76\00:42:49.96 But those prophecies were actually referring 00:42:51.13\00:42:53.03 to something else that was a little bit more contemporary 00:42:53.03\00:42:55.57 to the time of the writers and blah, blah, blah. 00:42:55.57\00:42:58.21 And usually, when I was growing up in the church, 00:42:58.21\00:43:00.21 people have said that all these things 00:43:00.21\00:43:01.64 have a double interpretation. 00:43:01.64\00:43:02.98 They mean something toward the immediate context 00:43:02.98\00:43:05.55 of that contemporary time of the writer, 00:43:05.55\00:43:07.88 but they also refer to something in the future. 00:43:07.88\00:43:11.52 So my question is, how did we ascertain that rule, 00:43:11.52\00:43:16.59 that prophecies in the Old Testament, I guess, 00:43:18.23\00:43:20.73 have like this double interpretation? 00:43:20.73\00:43:23.06 Where do we get that rule from? 00:43:23.06\00:43:24.67 'Cuz to be honest, sometimes it seems a bit arbitrary 00:43:24.67\00:43:29.74 where and when we invoke that rule. 00:43:30.87\00:43:32.77 And I just wanted to know, how is it that we know 00:43:32.77\00:43:35.24 that these prophecies have a double interpretation? 00:43:35.24\00:43:37.88 - Good question. 00:43:37.88\00:43:39.58 First and best and safest way to know is, 00:43:40.65\00:43:44.25 when the New Testament writers, Matthew, for example, 00:43:44.25\00:43:47.32 often refers to an Old Testament prophecy. 00:43:47.32\00:43:51.03 And for instance, he talks about Rachel weeping 00:43:51.03\00:43:54.56 for her children for they are not. 00:43:54.56\00:43:56.36 Well, he's quoting an old Testament prophecy. 00:43:57.57\00:44:00.54 He's applying it to the babies 00:44:00.54\00:44:02.50 in Bethlehem being slaughtered. 00:44:02.50\00:44:06.27 But that prophecy may also apply to when the children 00:44:06.27\00:44:09.28 Of Israel were ransacked by the Babylonians. 00:44:09.28\00:44:13.18 You have the story of Jonah. 00:44:15.05\00:44:18.05 Jonah, Jesus said is a sign. 00:44:18.05\00:44:20.06 Now, Jesus is a good authority. 00:44:20.06\00:44:21.49 You'd agree, I'm sure. 00:44:21.49\00:44:22.72 Jesus said, Jonah's a sign of Him. 00:44:22.72\00:44:24.29 No sign will be given of the Son of man, but Jonah. 00:44:24.29\00:44:27.13 Well, Jonah was also a sign of the Jewish nation. 00:44:28.43\00:44:31.30 They all viewed it that way that they looked like 00:44:31.30\00:44:33.64 they were done for when they were carried off to Babylon, 00:44:33.64\00:44:35.90 and yet they came out alive. 00:44:35.90\00:44:37.44 So, they kind of saw them as because of their rebellion, 00:44:38.84\00:44:41.44 because they did not prophesy to the pagan nations, 00:44:41.44\00:44:44.91 that they went through a terrible storm, 00:44:44.91\00:44:47.58 and 'cuz they were neglecting their duty. 00:44:47.58\00:44:50.65 But the other sailors on the boat and the Ninevites 00:44:50.65\00:44:54.52 were saved through Jonah. 00:44:54.52\00:44:56.66 The world is saved through the Jewish nation, 00:44:56.66\00:44:59.03 delivering the scriptures. 00:44:59.03\00:45:00.70 But Jonah was a reluctant prophet 00:45:00.70\00:45:02.46 and the Jews often were stiff nicked. 00:45:02.46\00:45:05.33 So Christians and Jews have seen a dual application 00:45:05.33\00:45:08.00 in Jonah. 00:45:08.00\00:45:09.10 Let me give you the best example in the Bible. 00:45:09.10\00:45:10.84 One of the best, I think. 00:45:10.84\00:45:12.21 In first Chronicles, chapter 17, 00:45:13.24\00:45:15.88 David is thinking about building a temple for the Lord. 00:45:15.88\00:45:19.08 And first Nathan, the prophet says, "Go for it. 00:45:19.08\00:45:21.35 God is with you." 00:45:21.35\00:45:22.38 Then God says, "Go tell Nathan, 00:45:22.38\00:45:23.92 you are not to build the temple, 00:45:23.92\00:45:25.92 but your son is to build it." 00:45:25.92\00:45:27.46 Now, here's the verse. 00:45:27.46\00:45:28.49 If you go to first Chronicles, chapter 17, 00:45:28.49\00:45:30.59 and you start with... 00:45:30.59\00:45:31.89 Oh, let's see here, verse 11. 00:45:32.89\00:45:35.06 "And it will be when your days are fulfilled. 00:45:35.06\00:45:37.40 When you must go to be with your fathers," meaning you die. 00:45:37.40\00:45:40.40 "That I'll set up your seat after you, 00:45:40.40\00:45:42.90 who will be of your sons. 00:45:42.90\00:45:44.31 I will establish his kingdom. 00:45:44.31\00:45:45.81 He will build me a house. 00:45:45.81\00:45:47.31 I will establish his throne forever." 00:45:47.31\00:45:50.25 Now, is that a prophecy about Solomon 00:45:50.25\00:45:52.58 who did build the temple, the son of David? 00:45:52.58\00:45:55.42 Or is that a prophecy about Jesus, the son of David, 00:45:55.42\00:45:58.15 who said, "Destroy this temple and I will raise it up?" 00:45:58.15\00:46:00.76 Or is it both? 00:46:00.76\00:46:01.79 Now, I think this is a great case 00:46:03.22\00:46:04.53 where you can argue easily, certainly Solomon, 00:46:04.53\00:46:07.40 David was thinking about a literal temple, 00:46:07.40\00:46:09.60 and Solomon did build the temple 00:46:09.60\00:46:11.17 that David was praying about. 00:46:11.17\00:46:13.37 But Jesus is really the son of David 00:46:13.37\00:46:15.50 who built up the house of God. 00:46:15.50\00:46:17.21 We are the household of God. 00:46:17.21\00:46:18.87 We are the body of Christ. 00:46:18.87\00:46:21.01 Hey, you see what I'm saying? 00:46:21.01\00:46:22.38 - [Michael 2] Yeah. 00:46:22.38\00:46:23.71 - So, the hard part of your question is you said, 00:46:23.71\00:46:26.05 what is the rule, so you know how do you discern? 00:46:26.05\00:46:30.99 So it's not arbitrary. 00:46:30.99\00:46:33.12 I think the best thing is you just look at the context. 00:46:33.12\00:46:35.72 The best thing is if you can find a New Testament writer 00:46:35.72\00:46:38.99 who gives a secondary application, then that'd be, I 00:46:38.99\00:46:44.03 think, the best way to know. 00:46:44.70\00:46:45.10 So, God says, "I'm gonna send a prophet like Elijah." 00:46:47.60\00:46:52.67 Jesus then says that was John the Baptist, 00:46:54.11\00:46:57.11 but then Jesus also says, John did come and Elijah did come 00:46:57.11\00:47:00.68 and Elijah will come. 00:47:00.68\00:47:02.42 Jesus said, that's a dual prophecy. 00:47:02.42\00:47:04.89 Not only did Elijah come again, 00:47:04.89\00:47:07.22 the spirit and power of Elijah was on John the Baptist. 00:47:07.22\00:47:10.03 Christ said, "And he will come." 00:47:10.03\00:47:11.63 Meaning, before the second coming, 00:47:11.63\00:47:13.86 there's gonna be another Elijah message that will go. 00:47:13.86\00:47:17.60 So, when you find a new Testament support, 00:47:17.60\00:47:22.00 then that's the best way to know, 00:47:22.00\00:47:23.57 well, they're using two applications for that one 00:47:23.57\00:47:26.17 prophecy. But there's other places where I think it's 00:47:26.17\00:47:28.08 obvious, like the one I read in Chronicles. 00:47:28.08\00:47:29.84 So I know, deep subject, there's no easy answer for that. 00:47:31.48\00:47:34.75 That's a great question. 00:47:34.75\00:47:36.02 All right, thank you, Michael. 00:47:37.35\00:47:38.25 Appreciate your call. 00:47:38.25\00:47:39.55 And now, let me just tell my friends here. 00:47:39.55\00:47:42.82 We have eight minutes roughly in our regular broadcast. 00:47:42.82\00:47:46.83 We go off the air with satellite first, 00:47:46.83\00:47:50.47 then I take a couple of minutes more questions 00:47:50.47\00:47:53.00 for those who are on a land based station 00:47:53.00\00:47:54.74 you're watching on TV or Facebook. 00:47:54.74\00:47:56.67 So don't go away at that point. 00:47:56.67\00:47:58.41 And we've got a number. 00:47:58.41\00:47:59.74 If you wanna call in with any of your questions 00:47:59.74\00:48:01.58 or you can email rather your questions, 00:48:01.58\00:48:03.91 we take some email questions at the very end of our program, 00:48:03.91\00:48:07.22 and do them in a rapid succession. 00:48:07.22\00:48:09.48 It's BAL, that stands for "Bible Answers Live." 00:48:09.48\00:48:12.59 Here's the address, BALquestions. 00:48:12.59\00:48:14.32 BALquestions@amazingfacts.org. 00:48:15.12\00:48:19.49 And that's how you can send those final, 00:48:19.49\00:48:21.90 rapid fire questions we cover, 00:48:21.90\00:48:24.10 and in the end of the broadcast. 00:48:24.10\00:48:26.23 Talking next with.... 00:48:26.23\00:48:27.74 Let me see here. 00:48:28.90\00:48:30.57 Oh, talk to Matthew in Canada. 00:48:30.57\00:48:32.91 Matthew, you're on the air with "Bible Answers Live." 00:48:32.91\00:48:36.08 - [Matthew] Hi, Doug, thanks for having me. 00:48:36.08\00:48:38.05 - Yes. - [Matthew] Question. 00:48:38.05\00:48:39.58 Before Jesus comes, 00:48:40.58\00:48:41.98 how many generation will he alow to be living on earth? 00:48:41.98\00:48:45.89 Or how many generation will any one experience? 00:48:45.89\00:48:48.29 - Well, when you say generation, 00:48:49.29\00:48:50.73 are you talking about like 40 years? 00:48:50.73\00:48:54.46 The Bible kind of tells us 40 years. 00:48:54.46\00:48:56.90 - [Matthew] Yes, according to the Bible 00:48:58.50\00:48:59.53 40 years means a generation. 00:48:59.53\00:49:01.04 - How many of those- 00:49:01.04\00:49:02.10 - [Matthew] Will any one experience? 00:49:02.10\00:49:03.44 - How many of those between the first coming and... 00:49:03.44\00:49:05.21 - [Matthew] Will anyone experience four or five? 00:49:05.21\00:49:07.11 - Oh, well, no, it's already been clearly more 00:49:07.11\00:49:09.98 than four or five generations since Jesus' first coming. 00:49:09.98\00:49:13.52 Is that what you're asking? 00:49:13.52\00:49:15.58 - [Matthew] So I'm saying, 00:49:15.58\00:49:16.99 will any one individual experience four or five 00:49:16.99\00:49:20.69 generations? - No, not too many people. 00:49:21.72\00:49:22.99 I think the most is three gene... 00:49:22.99\00:49:25.23 Well, some people live and see their great grandchildren. 00:49:25.23\00:49:29.96 A couple of rare individuals 00:49:29.96\00:49:31.83 have seen great, great grandchildren. 00:49:31.83\00:49:34.34 But, I still don't know if I'm answering your question. 00:49:34.34\00:49:37.97 - [Matthew] No, I want to know how many generations 00:49:40.01\00:49:42.08 will there ever be before Jesus comes the second time. 00:49:42.08\00:49:44.85 - No man knows the day or the hour Matthew of Christ coming. 00:49:47.25\00:49:51.59 So, we don't know how many generations. 00:49:51.59\00:49:54.36 Jesus said, this generation will not pass away 00:49:54.36\00:49:57.26 till these things being fulfilled. 00:49:57.26\00:49:58.63 He was talking about the destruction of the temple. 00:49:58.63\00:50:01.00 That happened 40 years after Christ's prediction. 00:50:01.00\00:50:03.63 So that was one generation, just as Jesus said, 00:50:03.63\00:50:05.90 this generation would not pass away. 00:50:05.90\00:50:08.00 How many generations from the first coming 00:50:08.00\00:50:09.84 to the second coming, the Bible does not reveal. 00:50:09.84\00:50:12.67 So I hope that helps a little bit. 00:50:12.67\00:50:15.04 All right, let's see here. 00:50:15.04\00:50:16.51 Looking, I got a couple time for a couple more questions. 00:50:19.71\00:50:22.42 Josiah in New York, 00:50:22.42\00:50:23.92 you're on the air with "Bible Answers Live." 00:50:23.92\00:50:26.19 Are you there? 00:50:27.99\00:50:29.09 Sometimes people mute their phones. 00:50:29.09\00:50:30.23 Josiah, you are on the air. 00:50:30.23\00:50:31.93 There you go. 00:50:31.93\00:50:32.83 - [Josiah] Good evening, how are you doing, sir? 00:50:34.73\00:50:35.76 - Doing great, thank you for calling. 00:50:35.76\00:50:37.83 - [Josiah] Yes, I have a question based 00:50:39.13\00:50:40.70 on the book of Revelation the first chapter, verse 13 to 15. 00:50:40.70\00:50:45.04 - Okay. 00:50:46.64\00:50:47.94 - [Josiah] I don't wanna read the... 00:50:47.94\00:50:48.48 When I read that verse, and the question is, 00:50:50.11\00:50:54.28 the Bible clearly stated that Jesus is a dark-skinned man. 00:50:55.75\00:51:00.26 So why is the church portraying Christ 00:51:01.36\00:51:03.22 as a white-skinned man? 00:51:03.22\00:51:05.56 - Well, here it says He's got skin like bronze. 00:51:07.03\00:51:10.20 So are you wondering about 00:51:10.20\00:51:11.93 what the ethnic color of Jesus' skin is in Revelation? 00:51:11.93\00:51:15.44 - [Josiah] The heart of my question is, 00:51:16.91\00:51:18.27 why do religion pushes that Jesus is a so-called white man 00:51:18.27\00:51:23.18 when the Bible teaches that He's a dark skinned man? 00:51:24.81\00:51:27.48 - Well, Jesus was a Jew. 00:51:29.12\00:51:31.09 Do you have any problem with that? 00:51:31.09\00:51:32.85 - [Josiah] I have no problem with that, 00:51:34.32\00:51:35.82 but the Jews of today is not the Jews 00:51:35.82\00:51:38.29 of when Christ walked around the earth. 00:51:38.29\00:51:41.00 - Well, there's no question that the Jewish people 00:51:41.00\00:51:44.30 over the ages, they've been scattered around the world. 00:51:44.30\00:51:46.84 There's probably been some mixing. 00:51:46.84\00:51:49.24 By the way, I'm half Jewish, anyway, my mother was Jewish. 00:51:51.64\00:51:54.51 - [Josiah] Based on what? 00:51:55.51\00:51:57.15 The Bible does not dictate you're a Jew by your mother. 00:51:57.15\00:52:01.05 When you go to the book of Numbers one verse 18 00:52:01.05\00:52:04.05 it says you are of Jew by your father. 00:52:04.05\00:52:06.45 That's the reason today you don't have a travel, Dana. 00:52:06.45\00:52:09.39 - What makes a person a Jew today? 00:52:09.39\00:52:11.59 - [Josiah] According to the Bible, 00:52:12.76\00:52:13.73 what's make a person a Jew, 00:52:13.73\00:52:15.73 they have to come from Kaza... 00:52:15.73\00:52:17.50 The term Jew is from the tribe, Judah. 00:52:17.50\00:52:21.74 - Well, I mean, doesn't Paul say that if you are Christ, 00:52:21.74\00:52:25.24 then you are Abraham's seed. 00:52:25.24\00:52:27.48 And doesn't the Bible say that he is not a Jew 00:52:27.48\00:52:29.78 that is one outwardly, he is a Jew who is one inwardly. 00:52:29.78\00:52:34.12 And circumcision is not circumcision in the flesh, 00:52:34.12\00:52:36.52 it's circumcision of the spirit. 00:52:36.52\00:52:38.19 - [Josiah] Doug, in the book of Galatians, 00:52:39.29\00:52:42.29 Paul explains to you who are the Jews. 00:52:42.29\00:52:45.09 He never deviates from the true Jews. 00:52:45.09\00:52:49.00 'Cuz when you go and- 00:52:49.00\00:52:49.93 - Is a person saved? 00:52:49.93\00:52:51.87 Now again, I wanna reiterate 00:52:51.87\00:52:53.84 that I come from a Jewish background, 00:52:53.84\00:52:55.67 but I don't believe a person is saved 00:52:55.67\00:52:57.51 because of their blood. 00:52:57.51\00:52:58.94 God is no respecter persons. 00:52:58.94\00:53:01.08 Do you believe that a person is saved 00:53:01.08\00:53:02.44 because they're Jewish or because they have faith? 00:53:02.44\00:53:04.58 - [Josiah] Yes, God is a respecter of persons 00:53:04.58\00:53:07.18 because when you go in the book of Genesis, 00:53:07.18\00:53:09.48 the ninth chapter verse 18, God says, 00:53:09.48\00:53:10.99 "Jacob, that I love, Esau that I hate." 00:53:13.52\00:53:15.92 So that's a respecter of person, 00:53:15.92\00:53:17.43 meaning God hates a particular group of people. 00:53:17.43\00:53:20.86 And my other question to you, who is Esau today? 00:53:20.86\00:53:23.77 'Cuz everybody wants to be Jacob, 00:53:23.77\00:53:25.70 who is Esau today and why the church 00:53:25.70\00:53:27.67 is not teaching the biblical nationality? 00:53:27.67\00:53:31.14 - Well first, the verse that you quoted there, 00:53:31.14\00:53:34.14 "Jacob I've loved and Esau I've hated." 00:53:34.14\00:53:35.98 He's talking about Israel I loved, 00:53:35.98\00:53:38.71 and the Edomites I hated, because of the decisions- 00:53:38.71\00:53:41.82 - [Josiah] So who were the Edomites? 00:53:41.82\00:53:43.15 - Well, it's because of the decisions that Esau made 00:53:43.15\00:53:45.82 to go after the beans instead of the birthright. 00:53:45.82\00:53:50.89 And so, if- 00:53:51.43\00:53:52.53 - [Josiah] No, that's not what the verse said. 00:53:52.53\00:53:53.93 When you read- 00:53:53.93\00:53:55.03 - Well, no, that's what Genesis says. 00:53:55.03\00:53:57.23 - Yeah, but Paul elaborates. 00:53:57.23\00:53:59.20 Paul said even before the children were born, 00:53:59.20\00:54:01.94 God made his decision. 00:54:03.20\00:54:05.31 Before they were even born knowing 00:54:05.31\00:54:06.94 to choose right or wrong, he made- 00:54:06.94\00:54:08.91 - No, God foretold what they would do before they were born. 00:54:08.91\00:54:12.81 And then we saw that acted out in their lives. 00:54:12.81\00:54:15.02 But at the heart of this, you just said something. 00:54:15.02\00:54:16.65 You said, God is a respecter of person. 00:54:16.65\00:54:18.29 And Paul says, God is no respecter of person. 00:54:18.29\00:54:20.72 Peter actually says that. 00:54:20.72\00:54:22.49 But whoever fears Him, from every people, He loves. 00:54:22.49\00:54:26.90 If a person has faith in Jesus, that's what saves them. 00:54:26.90\00:54:30.37 - [Josiah] What does that mean, that Jacob that I love, 00:54:30.37\00:54:34.10 Esau that I hate? 00:54:34.10\00:54:35.20 Meaning God who have a particular group 00:54:35.20\00:54:37.51 of people that he love. 00:54:37.51\00:54:38.81 Did he have a particular group of people that he loved? 00:54:38.81\00:54:39.94 - Josiah, I don't wanna be rude. 00:54:39.94\00:54:42.71 I have to mute you just because I got 30 seconds left, 00:54:42.71\00:54:45.98 and I wanna be able to sign off. 00:54:45.98\00:54:48.08 I hope... 00:54:48.08\00:54:49.15 And you're welcome to call again, 00:54:49.15\00:54:50.25 and we can finish this discussion, 00:54:50.25\00:54:52.05 but the time's not gonna allow it. 00:54:52.05\00:54:53.82 Now, those of you who are watching on TV 00:54:53.82\00:54:55.69 or you're listening on the internet, don't go away. 00:54:55.69\00:54:58.13 We're signing off on satellite. 00:54:58.13\00:55:00.16 We're coming back for some rapid fire Bible questions 00:55:00.16\00:55:02.63 that have come in via the internet. 00:55:02.63\00:55:04.70 Stay with us. 00:55:04.70\00:55:06.00 (bright upbeat music) 00:55:06.00\00:55:08.70 - [Announcer] Thank you for listening to today's broadcast. 00:55:08.70\00:55:11.31 We hope you understand your Bible even better than before. 00:55:11.31\00:55:14.94 "Bible Answers Live" is produced 00:55:14.94\00:55:16.88 by Amazing Facts International, 00:55:16.88\00:55:19.11 a faith-based ministry located in Granite Bay, California. 00:55:19.11\00:55:23.35 - Okay, there, you have it. 00:55:25.09\00:55:26.02 We are back, friends. 00:55:26.02\00:55:27.16 And for those of you who have stayed by, 00:55:27.16\00:55:29.39 you're enduring to the end. 00:55:29.39\00:55:31.06 We're gonna be talking about some questions 00:55:31.06\00:55:32.86 that have come in. 00:55:32.86\00:55:33.66 All right, first question. 00:55:33.66\00:55:35.03 When Satan is deceiving some people at the end of times, 00:55:35.03\00:55:38.10 when he is telling everybody he is Jesus, 00:55:38.10\00:55:40.50 can Satan duplicate Jesus' pierced hands? 00:55:40.50\00:55:43.74 Well, I think he can. 00:55:43.74\00:55:45.07 He's called the... 00:55:45.07\00:55:46.51 Second Corinthians chapter 11 says, 00:55:46.51\00:55:48.28 Satan can be transformed into an angel of light. 00:55:48.28\00:55:51.81 He can create illusions. 00:55:51.81\00:55:53.21 So if he's impersonating Christ, 00:55:53.21\00:55:55.18 if he wants to impersonate Christ, 00:55:55.18\00:55:56.82 it's got some kind of scars in his hands. 00:55:56.82\00:55:59.25 That would probably be very impressive. 00:55:59.25\00:56:00.69 What Satan cannot reproduce 00:56:00.69\00:56:02.42 is coming in the clouds of glory. 00:56:02.42\00:56:04.86 Jesus never touches the ground again when He comes. 00:56:04.86\00:56:07.60 It says "We are caught up to meet Him in the air." 00:56:07.60\00:56:10.10 So anybody walking around on the ground 00:56:10.10\00:56:12.07 that says that they are Christ, 00:56:12.07\00:56:13.67 they're either demonic or deluded, 00:56:14.70\00:56:18.24 but do not follow any false Christ. 00:56:18.24\00:56:20.61 Let me see here. 00:56:21.64\00:56:22.98 Since Jesus is now in heaven at the right hand of God 00:56:22.98\00:56:24.91 and no longer active on earth, 00:56:24.91\00:56:26.85 He left a comforter who is active. 00:56:26.85\00:56:29.32 So we ask Jesus into our hearts 00:56:29.32\00:56:31.55 or is it the Holy Spirit that comes into our hearts? 00:56:31.55\00:56:34.12 Christ comes into our hearts through the Holy Spirit. 00:56:34.12\00:56:37.09 Jesus said that, "I'm going. 00:56:37.09\00:56:38.89 And it's expedient that I go. 00:56:38.89\00:56:40.16 The Holy Spirit will come." 00:56:40.16\00:56:41.83 And then he promises, "I am with you everywhere you go." 00:56:41.83\00:56:44.90 How is He with us? 00:56:44.90\00:56:46.00 Through the person of God, the Spirit, 00:56:46.00\00:56:48.04 we have the presence of Christ. 00:56:48.04\00:56:49.30 Jesus says He will declare all things to you. 00:56:49.30\00:56:52.44 The Spirit gives us the very presence of Christ. 00:56:52.44\00:56:55.14 You will sense Jesus with you in God, the Spirit, 00:56:55.14\00:56:58.11 'cuz God is one. 00:56:58.11\00:56:59.75 Show me one unequivocal or equivocal sentence in the Bible 00:56:59.75\00:57:03.55 where Jesus says, "I am God," and we must worship Him. 00:57:03.55\00:57:07.12 Well, there is no verse where he says, 00:57:07.12\00:57:08.36 "I am God, we must worship Him". 00:57:08.36\00:57:10.23 But it does tell about people worshiping Him. 00:57:10.23\00:57:12.93 You read in Hebrews where it says 00:57:12.93\00:57:14.20 even the angels worship Him. 00:57:14.20\00:57:15.53 The Bible says in the 10 commandments, 00:57:15.53\00:57:17.93 we are to worship only God, Jesus must be God. 00:57:17.93\00:57:21.60 The Bible says only God knows the thoughts of men's hearts. 00:57:21.60\00:57:24.61 Yet Jesus new people's thoughts. 00:57:24.61\00:57:26.84 Jesus must be God. 00:57:26.84\00:57:28.14 The Bible says there is one God and Savior. 00:57:28.14\00:57:30.68 Jesus is our Savior. 00:57:30.68\00:57:32.21 Jesus must be God. 00:57:32.21\00:57:33.62 And you can read where he rose from the dead, 00:57:33.62\00:57:36.08 He said, "All hail," and the disciples held Him by the feet 00:57:36.08\00:57:39.15 and worshiped Him. 00:57:39.15\00:57:40.99 He received that worship. 00:57:40.99\00:57:42.72 Unless He was God, 00:57:42.72\00:57:43.83 they were breaking the commandments of God. 00:57:43.83\00:57:45.99 So yes, Jesus is God. 00:57:45.99\00:57:47.30 He said in John chapter eight, "I am. 00:57:47.30\00:57:49.53 Before Abraham was, I am." 00:57:49.53\00:57:51.93 That's the same name that Moses used 00:57:51.93\00:57:54.54 or God gave to Moses rather. 00:57:54.54\00:57:56.91 All right, let me say, is there a verse that says, 00:57:56.91\00:58:00.31 "God gives us the freedom of choice and also the angels." 00:58:00.31\00:58:05.25 When it says, "Choose you this
