Hello friends, this is Pastor Jëan Ross. 00:00:50.11\00:00:51.91 Pastor Doug is out this evening, 00:00:51.91\00:00:53.45 but how about an amazing fact? 00:00:53.45\00:00:55.52 At the entrance to the Greyfriars Cemetery 00:00:55.52\00:00:58.35 in Edinburgh, Scotland is a statue 00:00:58.35\00:01:00.39 of a Skye Terrier named Bobby. 00:01:00.39\00:01:02.46 This little terrier was a familiar site in the 1850s 00:01:02.46\00:01:05.89 as he trotted beside his master policeman Auld Jock 00:01:05.89\00:01:09.40 on the nightly rounds. 00:01:09.40\00:01:11.33 Then in 1858, his master Jock suddenly died 00:01:11.33\00:01:14.20 of tuberculosis and was buried in the Greyfriars Cemetery. 00:01:14.20\00:01:18.64 Much to the surprise of the residents of Edinburgh, 00:01:18.64\00:01:21.71 Bobby refused to leave Jock's grave. 00:01:21.71\00:01:24.68 Cemetery workers repeatedly shooed him away, 00:01:24.68\00:01:27.22 but he kept returning to the spot 00:01:27.22\00:01:29.45 where his master was buried. 00:01:29.45\00:01:31.69 Stormy weather, freezing nights, the ground keepers, 00:01:31.69\00:01:35.62 well-meaning locals and even Jock's family all tried to 00:01:35.62\00:01:39.26 entice him away from his self-appointed post, 00:01:39.26\00:01:42.43 but without success. 00:01:42.43\00:01:44.20 Month after month and year after year, 00:01:44.20\00:01:46.90 he sat guarding his master's grave. 00:01:46.90\00:01:50.37 Bobby would only leave his post 00:01:50.37\00:01:51.87 for a few minutes at one o'clock in the afternoon 00:01:51.87\00:01:54.44 following the firing of the cannon in Edinburgh's castle, 00:01:54.44\00:01:58.28 he would cross the cobblestone street to a pub 00:01:58.28\00:02:00.65 were he was fed table scraps 00:02:00.65\00:02:02.68 and then returned to his faithful watch. 00:02:02.68\00:02:05.62 Crowds came to the cemetery just to see this amazing dog. 00:02:05.62\00:02:10.36 For 14 years he kept watch at his master's grave 00:02:10.36\00:02:14.46 until he died on the 14th of January, 1872 at the age of 16, 00:02:14.46\00:02:19.50 a long life for a Skye Terrier. 00:02:20.30\00:02:22.74 He was duly buried next to his master 00:02:22.74\00:02:25.27 and these words were written on his grave marker, 00:02:25.27\00:02:27.58 "Greyfriars Bobby let his loyalty 00:02:27.58\00:02:31.11 and devotion be a lesson to us all." 00:02:31.11\00:02:34.35 Well, you know, friends, 00:02:34.35\00:02:35.45 Bobby's faithfulness to his earthly master 00:02:35.45\00:02:37.79 is a reminder to us to be faithful to 00:02:37.79\00:02:40.26 our heavenly Master, Jesus. 00:02:40.26\00:02:43.19 We wanna welcome all of those who are joining us 00:02:43.19\00:02:45.19 to Bible Answers Live. 00:02:45.19\00:02:47.40 This is a live, interactive international Bible study. 00:02:47.40\00:02:50.33 So if you have a Bible related question, 00:02:50.33\00:02:52.40 we would love to hear from you this evening. 00:02:52.40\00:02:54.80 The phone number to call with your Bible question is 00:02:54.80\00:02:57.41 800-463-7297 and that will get you on the air 00:02:57.41\00:03:02.38 and we'll be happy to hear from you this evening. 00:03:03.71\00:03:05.15 And joining me is Pastor Carlos Muñoz, 00:03:05.15\00:03:07.48 who is helping with the phones. 00:03:07.48\00:03:09.18 Pastor Carlos, welcome to Bible Answers Live. 00:03:09.18\00:03:11.22 - De nada. 00:03:11.22\00:03:12.35 - [Pastor Jëan] I'm glad you're here. 00:03:12.35\00:03:13.15 - It's a pleasure to be here. 00:03:13.15\00:03:14.22 - Okay, well we started the program 00:03:14.22\00:03:17.03 by talking about a little dog 00:03:17.03\00:03:18.86 who was proven to be very faithful to his master. 00:03:18.86\00:03:21.73 I've actually been to Scotland, to Edinburgh, 00:03:21.73\00:03:23.67 and we've driven past the cemetery and sure enough, 00:03:23.67\00:03:26.70 there's this little statue of the dog known as Bobby. 00:03:26.70\00:03:29.54 Bobby, the faithful watchdog. 00:03:29.54\00:03:31.51 Apparently, he would growl at people 00:03:31.51\00:03:33.31 if they came to close to his master's grave. 00:03:33.31\00:03:35.94 But for 14 years he sat guard, 00:03:35.94\00:03:38.28 talk about faithfulness. 00:03:38.28\00:03:39.85 You know, I read this one prayer 00:03:39.85\00:03:43.08 that was actually prayed by a pet owner 00:03:43.08\00:03:45.42 that said, Lord, let me become the person 00:03:45.42\00:03:47.39 my dog already thinks I am. 00:03:47.39\00:03:49.62 - Amen. 00:03:49.62\00:03:50.76 - You know, dogs do have a faithfulness 00:03:50.76\00:03:52.06 that really is an illustration of what we need to have. 00:03:52.06\00:03:55.90 We need to be faithful Christians. 00:03:55.90\00:03:57.90 I'm reminded of something that Jesus said, 00:03:57.90\00:03:59.67 and we find this in Matthew chapter 24. 00:03:59.67\00:04:01.97 Speaking of end time events, Jesus said, 00:04:01.97\00:04:04.14 "For nation will rise against nation, 00:04:04.14\00:04:06.64 and kingdom against kingdom. 00:04:06.64\00:04:08.11 And there will be famines and pestilences." 00:04:08.11\00:04:10.95 Well, of course we know that's true today. 00:04:10.95\00:04:12.88 "And earthquakes in various places." 00:04:12.88\00:04:14.95 And verse eight, Matthew 24, verse eight. 00:04:14.95\00:04:16.65 "And this is the beginning of sorrows." 00:04:16.65\00:04:18.69 Jesus said, "And you will be delivered up to tribulation 00:04:18.69\00:04:21.59 and kill you, and you'll be hated 00:04:21.59\00:04:23.59 by all nations for My namesake." 00:04:23.59\00:04:26.06 And verse 10 says, 00:04:26.06\00:04:27.40 "And then many will be offended and will betray one another 00:04:27.40\00:04:29.76 and will hate one another. 00:04:29.76\00:04:31.17 Many false prophets will arise and deceive many. 00:04:31.17\00:04:33.74 And because lawlessness will abound, 00:04:33.74\00:04:35.94 the love of many will grow cold." 00:04:35.94\00:04:37.64 But here's the point I want to emphasize verse 13, 00:04:37.64\00:04:39.81 "But he that end endures to the end," Jesus said, 00:04:39.81\00:04:43.58 "Will be saved." 00:04:43.58\00:04:44.91 To be a Christian in these last days requires endurance, 00:04:44.91\00:04:48.22 - Amen. 00:04:48.22\00:04:49.05 - Perseverance. 00:04:49.05\00:04:50.35 I'm also reminded of another verse that we find in 00:04:50.35\00:04:52.45 Revelation, chapter 14, verse 12, talking about the remnant, 00:04:52.45\00:04:56.66 those who are living at the end of time. 00:04:56.66\00:04:58.03 And it says, "Here is the patience of the Saints. 00:04:58.03\00:05:00.53 Here are those who keep the commandments of God, 00:05:00.53\00:05:02.16 and the faith of Jesus." 00:05:02.16\00:05:03.80 So God's people in the last days will have loyalty, 00:05:03.80\00:05:06.03 they will have endurance and perseverance. 00:05:06.03\00:05:08.90 Now, we do have a free offer that talks about the importance 00:05:08.90\00:05:11.77 of perseverance and being faithful in the Christian life. 00:05:11.77\00:05:15.91 It is a book written by Pastor Doug Batchelor. 00:05:15.91\00:05:18.61 It's entitled, Assurance Justification Made Simple. 00:05:18.61\00:05:22.62 How can we have that perseverance? 00:05:22.62\00:05:24.79 Well, we need to accept everything 00:05:24.79\00:05:26.32 that Jesus has done for us 00:05:26.32\00:05:27.69 and everything Jesus wants to do in us 00:05:27.69\00:05:29.99 and through us. 00:05:29.99\00:05:31.26 And our free book, it's all about that. 00:05:31.26\00:05:33.53 And we'd be happy to send that to anyone in North America 00:05:33.53\00:05:36.50 who would call and ask. 00:05:36.50\00:05:37.80 So, Pastor Carlos, 00:05:37.80\00:05:39.13 who does the person call if they wanna get the book? 00:05:39.13\00:05:42.50 - If they wanna get the book, 00:05:42.50\00:05:43.71 they have to call 1 800-835-6747 for the free offer. 00:05:43.71\00:05:48.61 - And again, just ask for the book written by Pastor Doug. 00:05:50.15\00:05:52.25 It's called Assurance, Justification Made Simple. 00:05:52.25\00:05:56.18 And once again, if you have a Bible related question, 00:05:56.18\00:05:58.62 the number to call here into the studio is 800-463-7297. 00:05:58.62\00:06:03.69 If you don't get in right away, just stay on the phone. 00:06:05.03\00:06:06.76 I'm sure one of our call screeners 00:06:06.76\00:06:08.93 will be able to take your call. 00:06:08.93\00:06:10.23 So again, that number is 800-463-7297. 00:06:10.23\00:06:15.30 And Pastor Carlos, 00:06:15.97\00:06:17.31 do we have anyone waiting online at the moment? 00:06:17.31\00:06:18.44 - We have a number of people waiting. 00:06:18.44\00:06:20.61 Before we do that, let's have a word of prayer. 00:06:20.61\00:06:21.94 - Thank you. 00:06:21.94\00:06:23.08 - Father, we thank You again for the blessing 00:06:23.08\00:06:24.68 and the opportunity to come together 00:06:24.68\00:06:25.81 and spend time in Your Word with the callers 00:06:25.81\00:06:28.78 so that we can grow the faith 00:06:28.78\00:06:30.12 to persevere until the end too. 00:06:30.12\00:06:31.72 And so as we collaborate and spend time, 00:06:31.72\00:06:35.02 we just ask that Your Spirit guide us 00:06:35.02\00:06:36.12 and we ask us in Jesus name. Amen. 00:06:36.12\00:06:38.26 - [Pastor Jëan] Amen. 00:06:38.26\00:06:39.36 - Yes, so we have our first caller is Greg 00:06:39.36\00:06:42.46 calling us from Michigan. 00:06:42.46\00:06:44.30 Greg, good evening, you're on the air. 00:06:44.30\00:06:46.20 - [Greg] My question is what empirical evidence exists 00:06:46.20\00:06:51.27 to establish the date of the stoning of Steven in 34 A.D.? 00:06:52.64\00:06:56.11 I know it fits perfectly into the prophecy of Daniel, 00:06:57.45\00:07:01.25 but I've seen conflicting dates 00:07:01.25\00:07:03.89 on the internet of 34 and 36. 00:07:03.89\00:07:06.39 - Okay, well that's a good question. 00:07:07.46\00:07:08.82 I think part of the confusion that some people might have 00:07:08.82\00:07:11.19 is because of the A.D., B.C. dating method, 00:07:11.19\00:07:14.50 and of course people know that B.C. stands for before Christ 00:07:14.50\00:07:17.70 and then A.D., Anno Domini, 00:07:17.70\00:07:19.97 it's actually Latin means in the year of our Lord. 00:07:19.97\00:07:22.40 And the A.D., B.C. dating system was not actually 00:07:22.40\00:07:25.41 established until a number of years after Christ. 00:07:25.41\00:07:28.58 So several, actually, I think a hundred, 00:07:28.58\00:07:31.31 200 years after Christ, maybe even a little later, 00:07:31.31\00:07:34.08 they began to date things that way 00:07:34.08\00:07:36.15 and they kind of went back. 00:07:36.15\00:07:37.65 They weren't exactly accurate 00:07:37.65\00:07:39.22 with the date of Christ's birth. 00:07:39.22\00:07:40.92 Jesus was actually born somewhere around four B.C.. 00:07:40.92\00:07:45.29 So, then that would make His baptism 27 A.D., 00:07:45.29\00:07:49.56 His death 31 A.D., 00:07:49.56\00:07:51.57 and then the stoning of Stephen would be 34 A.D.. 00:07:51.57\00:07:54.54 Now, the reason we know 34 A.D. is a solid date 00:07:54.54\00:07:57.27 is because we know the baptism of Jesus. 00:07:57.27\00:07:59.27 We know that's a solid date. 00:07:59.27\00:08:00.91 We also know that Christ ministered 00:08:00.91\00:08:02.84 for three and a half years in person 00:08:02.84\00:08:05.08 and then He was crucified. 00:08:05.08\00:08:06.51 Of course, He rose from the dead. 00:08:06.51\00:08:08.15 And then you have another three and a half years 00:08:08.15\00:08:09.72 when the apostles primarily focused 00:08:09.72\00:08:11.82 their missionary activity on the Jews. 00:08:11.82\00:08:14.89 And then the stoning of Stephen 00:08:14.89\00:08:16.69 was sort of the end of that three and a half time period 00:08:16.69\00:08:20.33 committed to reaching the Jews. 00:08:20.33\00:08:22.46 Of course, Saul is converted that same year 00:08:22.46\00:08:26.40 and he becomes Paul the Apostle to the Gentiles. 00:08:26.40\00:08:30.21 And so, we know that was sort of the close 00:08:30.21\00:08:32.37 of that probationary time period that God 00:08:32.37\00:08:34.24 had given to the Jews to come to repentance. 00:08:34.24\00:08:36.58 So, that's probably part of the confusion 00:08:37.68\00:08:39.48 why you see different dates. 00:08:39.48\00:08:40.82 But you know, if you look at a good commentary, 00:08:40.82\00:08:43.69 it'll make it quite clear that four B.C. 00:08:43.69\00:08:46.62 was right around four or three B.C. 00:08:46.62\00:08:49.22 is the birth of Jesus. 00:08:49.22\00:08:50.63 His baptism is 27, 00:08:50.63\00:08:52.39 His death 31, stoning of Stephen, 34. 00:08:52.39\00:08:55.73 - [Greg] I understand you know, before B.C. 00:08:55.73\00:09:00.67 and all that. The question I have is 00:09:00.67\00:09:03.64 what establishes for sure that stoning of was 34 00:09:03.64\00:09:08.71 and not 36? 00:09:09.81\00:09:11.15 Do we have other historical evidence to correspond with it? 00:09:11.15\00:09:15.42 - Okay, well we got internal evidence 00:09:15.42\00:09:17.09 from the Bible that gives us the year when Christ was born, 00:09:17.09\00:09:21.82 where we have the decree by Caesar Augustus 00:09:21.82\00:09:25.56 that all the world should be taxed. 00:09:25.56\00:09:28.10 And that of course brought Joseph and Mary to Bethlehem. 00:09:28.10\00:09:31.73 The Bible says, you know, Caesar Augustus made that decree. 00:09:31.73\00:09:34.77 And we also know from outside biblical accounts that that 00:09:34.77\00:09:39.14 decree did go into effect by Caesar Augustus in four B.C. 00:09:39.14\00:09:42.64 or thereabout, four B.C. or three B.C.. 00:09:42.64\00:09:45.05 So that's the external evidence. 00:09:45.05\00:09:46.51 Then once you got that date, 00:09:46.51\00:09:48.45 then of course you just simply do the math 00:09:48.45\00:09:50.15 and follow it through. 00:09:50.15\00:09:51.49 Jesus was 30 at His baptism, 00:09:51.49\00:09:53.86 He died three and a half years later. 00:09:53.86\00:09:56.26 Steven was stoned three and a half years after that. 00:09:56.26\00:09:58.56 - [Greg] Okay. 00:09:58.56\00:09:59.63 - All right. Well thanks for your call. 00:09:59.63\00:10:01.03 Good question. I appreciate it. 00:10:01.03\00:10:02.66 - All right, next question. 00:10:02.66\00:10:03.80 We have Anthony from my home state of New York. 00:10:03.80\00:10:06.20 Anthony, good evening, you're on the air. 00:10:06.20\00:10:08.50 - [Anthony] Good evening pastors. 00:10:08.50\00:10:09.50 Thank you for taking my call. 00:10:09.50\00:10:10.81 - You're welcome. 00:10:10.81\00:10:11.74 - My question is what commandment or which commandment 00:10:12.97\00:10:17.05 did Adam and Eve break? 00:10:17.05\00:10:18.98 I was thinking, is it thou shall not covet? 00:10:18.98\00:10:21.82 Is it 'have no other gods before Me', 00:10:21.82\00:10:23.45 because they wanted to be like God? 00:10:23.45\00:10:26.32 - Okay, I think it was more than one. 00:10:26.32\00:10:28.52 So, let's just kind of go through the list. 00:10:28.52\00:10:29.99 So, it begins with, you know, 00:10:29.99\00:10:31.66 we have Eve looking at the tree 00:10:31.66\00:10:33.06 and it says that she saw the tree. 00:10:33.06\00:10:35.20 It was a beautiful, it was desires to make one wise. 00:10:35.20\00:10:39.03 So, definitely the 10th commandment 00:10:39.03\00:10:40.64 that says thou shall not covet. 00:10:40.64\00:10:42.07 That's where it started. 00:10:42.07\00:10:43.47 And in reality, almost all sin begins 00:10:43.47\00:10:46.91 with the breaking of the 10th commandment, 00:10:46.91\00:10:48.78 which is covetousness or selfishness. 00:10:48.78\00:10:51.08 And then of course she took something 00:10:51.08\00:10:52.51 that didn't belong to her. 00:10:52.51\00:10:53.75 God said, you can have all of the fruit 00:10:53.75\00:10:54.92 of the trees of the garden, 00:10:54.92\00:10:56.08 but you're not supposed to eat the tree 00:10:56.08\00:10:57.05 in the midst of the garden. 00:10:57.05\00:10:58.32 And of course she took and ate it, 00:10:58.32\00:11:00.19 so that would break the commandment that says, 00:11:00.19\00:11:01.62 Thou shall not steal. 00:11:01.62\00:11:03.73 She desired, she chose a god above God. 00:11:03.73\00:11:06.29 So yes, she broke the first commandment. 00:11:06.29\00:11:08.40 She did choose a different god above God. 00:11:08.40\00:11:10.53 And then of course she gave it to her husband, 00:11:11.63\00:11:14.34 and the result of which was death. 00:11:14.34\00:11:16.71 And in one sense, Adam and Eve 00:11:16.71\00:11:18.04 could have also broken the commandment that says, 00:11:18.04\00:11:20.18 Thou shall not kill, 00:11:20.18\00:11:21.24 cuz God made it clear that the day, 00:11:21.24\00:11:23.21 either of you shall surely die. 00:11:23.21\00:11:24.75 So, when you look at what happened in the Garden of Eden, 00:11:24.75\00:11:28.12 it wasn't just one commandment that was broken. 00:11:28.12\00:11:30.95 It's sort of a chain reaction. 00:11:30.95\00:11:33.22 And I think definitely the 10th 00:11:33.22\00:11:35.02 would be one of the most obvious 00:11:35.02\00:11:36.36 and the one that says, Thou that shall not steal. 00:11:36.36\00:11:38.66 And then of course, Thou shall have no other gods before Me. 00:11:38.66\00:11:42.30 - [Anthony] Fantastic. Thank you very much. 00:11:42.30\00:11:43.90 - All right. Great question. 00:11:43.90\00:11:45.00 Thanks for your call. 00:11:45.00\00:11:46.47 - All right, next we have Ricardo from Fresno, California. 00:11:46.47\00:11:48.74 He's also asking about Genesis. 00:11:48.74\00:11:51.41 Ricardo, good evening, you're on the air. 00:11:51.41\00:11:53.01 - [Ricardo] Good evening, pastors. 00:11:53.01\00:11:55.11 So, my question is in regards to Genesis three, 00:11:55.11\00:11:58.11 and so I'm just gonna read, it says, 00:11:58.11\00:12:01.18 Genesis three verse one, it says, 00:12:02.32\00:12:03.89 "The serpent was more subtle 00:12:03.89\00:12:05.85 than the beasts of the field." 00:12:05.85\00:12:07.52 So, then as I go down to 14, 00:12:07.52\00:12:10.53 so, my question is really is did the serpent have a choice 00:12:10.53\00:12:15.23 as being a medium? 00:12:15.23\00:12:16.83 Because when I read verse 14, 00:12:16.83\00:12:20.30 well the curse starts with the ringleader. 00:12:21.40\00:12:24.17 And so, and it says verse 14, it says, 00:12:24.17\00:12:27.88 "The Lord God had said to the serpent, 00:12:27.88\00:12:30.35 because thou has done this." 00:12:30.35\00:12:32.08 And as I read further down, 00:12:32.08\00:12:35.58 he speaks to the serpent almost well, 00:12:35.58\00:12:38.29 in the same order he spoke to Adam and Eve. 00:12:38.29\00:12:41.02 So, which gives me an understanding 00:12:41.02\00:12:43.36 that the serpent had an opportunity 00:12:43.36\00:12:47.30 to be the medium or not, is my question. 00:12:47.30\00:12:50.07 - Okay, 00:12:50.07\00:12:51.03 - [Ricardo] Medium of the Devil. 00:12:51.03\00:12:52.83 - Sure. 00:12:52.83\00:12:53.67 So, in other words, 00:12:53.67\00:12:54.94 did the snake have a choice in the matter? 00:12:54.94\00:12:57.81 - [Ricardo] Yes. 00:12:57.81\00:12:59.07 - No, I don't believe the snake had a choice. 00:12:59.07\00:13:00.54 You know, the animal didn't have the ability to choose. 00:13:00.54\00:13:03.75 The Devil did impersonate the serpent, 00:13:03.75\00:13:06.11 or maybe he possessed the serpent. 00:13:06.11\00:13:07.82 We do know that evil spirits 00:13:07.82\00:13:09.85 or demons are able to possess animals. 00:13:09.85\00:13:12.79 And the reason we know that, 00:13:12.79\00:13:14.12 you remember the story where there were two demoniacs 00:13:14.12\00:13:17.69 and Jesus cast the evil spirits out of them, 00:13:17.69\00:13:20.83 and they went into the pigs, 00:13:20.83\00:13:22.43 and the pigs went and drowned in the Sea of Galilee. 00:13:22.43\00:13:25.07 So it is possible for animals 00:13:25.07\00:13:26.67 to be possessed by evil spirits. 00:13:26.67\00:13:28.84 So, the Devil possessed the snake. 00:13:28.84\00:13:31.24 And apparently serpents back then 00:13:31.24\00:13:33.14 must have been dazzling creatures. 00:13:33.14\00:13:34.78 It must have been beautiful. 00:13:34.78\00:13:36.68 Quite possibly they even had the ability to fly 00:13:36.68\00:13:39.38 because you know, after Adam and Eve's sin, 00:13:39.38\00:13:42.82 the curse that came upon the serpent is 00:13:42.82\00:13:44.55 from now on you're gonna go about on your belly. 00:13:44.55\00:13:47.02 So, Bible scholars do think that it's possible 00:13:47.02\00:13:49.82 that snakes might have even had wings prior to that. 00:13:49.82\00:13:52.79 But unfortunately, 00:13:52.79\00:13:54.36 yes, because the Devil used a serpent from then on, 00:13:54.36\00:13:57.30 a serpent becomes a symbol of rebellion, a symbol of Satan. 00:13:57.30\00:14:01.94 And in verse 14, where God is speaking to the serpent, 00:14:01.94\00:14:05.34 of course the serpent here is a symbol of the Devil. 00:14:05.34\00:14:08.91 And whenever somebody sees the snake 00:14:08.91\00:14:11.15 they are to remember what rebellion has done. 00:14:11.15\00:14:14.22 So no, unfortunately the snake didn't have a choice 00:14:15.58\00:14:17.52 in the matter, 00:14:17.52\00:14:18.42 but he does become a symbol of the Devil and sin. 00:14:19.72\00:14:23.16 Does that help, Ricardo? 00:14:23.16\00:14:23.99 - [Ricardo] Thank you. 00:14:23.99\00:14:25.09 Yeah, it sure does. 00:14:25.09\00:14:26.09 It does help a lot. 00:14:26.09\00:14:27.46 And I appreciate you guys' ministry and God bless. 00:14:27.46\00:14:28.90 - All right. Thanks for your call. 00:14:28.90\00:14:29.90 - Amen. Thank you very much. 00:14:29.90\00:14:31.70 Next we have Jordan from Tennessee. 00:14:31.70\00:14:34.37 Jordan, you are on the air. 00:14:34.37\00:14:35.74 - [Jordan] Yes. I had a question about Psalms 116. 00:14:35.74\00:14:40.44 I've read it in different versions. 00:14:40.44\00:14:42.18 I still can't understand what that part is saying. 00:14:42.18\00:14:46.15 - [Pastor Jëan] You mentioned Psalms 116. 00:14:46.15\00:14:49.25 - [Jordan] Yes. 00:14:50.22\00:14:51.55 - [Pastor Jëan] Was there a particular verse. 00:14:51.55\00:14:53.46 - [Jordan] Three through, say seven. 00:14:53.46\00:14:56.96 - Okay, well let's look at a few of them. 00:14:58.19\00:14:59.63 I know that we have folks who are driving, 00:14:59.63\00:15:01.20 and they might not have the Bible there near to them, 00:15:01.20\00:15:03.60 but let me read a few verses. 00:15:03.60\00:15:05.27 Psalm 116, verse three says, 00:15:05.27\00:15:07.67 "The pains of deaths surrounded me and the pangs 00:15:07.67\00:15:10.41 of Sheol, or other words the graves, laid hold of me; 00:15:10.41\00:15:14.08 I found trouble and sorrow. 00:15:14.08\00:15:16.34 Then I called upon the name of the Lord: 00:15:16.34\00:15:17.91 'O Lord, I implore you deliver my soul!' 00:15:17.91\00:15:20.25 Gracious is the Lord. And righteous; yes, 00:15:20.25\00:15:23.02 our God is merciful. 00:15:23.02\00:15:24.95 The Lord preserves the simple and was brought low. 00:15:24.95\00:15:29.59 He saved me. 00:15:29.59\00:15:31.23 Return to your rest O my soul, 00:15:31.23\00:15:33.46 for the Lord has dealt bountifully with you." 00:15:33.46\00:15:36.56 And so the question is, 00:15:37.53\00:15:38.87 what is David speaking about here in this verse? 00:15:38.87\00:15:42.14 - [Jordan] Yeah. 00:15:43.30\00:15:44.14 - Okay. Well, of course, 00:15:44.14\00:15:45.24 remember David was being hunted by Saul 00:15:45.24\00:15:47.61 for a number of years prior to him actually becoming king. 00:15:47.61\00:15:50.51 And David had a number of close calls 00:15:50.51\00:15:53.11 where God preserved his life. 00:15:53.11\00:15:55.42 For a while there he was living in the wilderness, 00:15:55.42\00:15:57.55 he was living in a cave. 00:15:57.55\00:15:58.92 He had to escape to the area controlled by the Philistines. 00:15:58.92\00:16:02.62 And he had to learn through experiences 00:16:02.62\00:16:04.56 to become very dependent upon God. 00:16:04.56\00:16:06.56 And he saw God protect him on many occasions. 00:16:06.56\00:16:09.20 And this Psalm is a Psalm of thanksgiving 00:16:09.20\00:16:11.60 for God's deliverance of David. 00:16:11.60\00:16:14.74 And it's of course applicable to believers as well, 00:16:14.74\00:16:17.84 but it's a Psalm of praise, 00:16:17.84\00:16:20.21 thanking God for His deliverance. 00:16:20.21\00:16:21.84 So in essence, David is saying, 00:16:21.84\00:16:23.61 I came very close to death, 00:16:23.61\00:16:25.58 where he says, the pains of death surrounded me. 00:16:25.58\00:16:28.12 It's as if the grave laid hold of him, 00:16:28.12\00:16:30.35 but God delivered him from that. 00:16:30.35\00:16:32.29 There were times when it seemed as though David was doomed, 00:16:32.29\00:16:35.62 and then the last minute God sort of opened up the way 00:16:35.62\00:16:38.83 and he found a way of escape, 00:16:38.83\00:16:40.66 or he was rescued on many occasions. 00:16:40.66\00:16:43.26 So, that's really what the Psalm is about. 00:16:43.26\00:16:45.37 It's a Psalm of praise for the deliverance 00:16:45.37\00:16:47.24 and the mercy of God. 00:16:47.24\00:16:49.10 - [Jordan] Oh, all right. 00:16:49.10\00:16:49.94 Well thank you. 00:16:49.94\00:16:50.77 - Okay, great. 00:16:50.77\00:16:51.61 Thanks for calling. 00:16:51.61\00:16:52.67 - All right, thank you very much. 00:16:52.67\00:16:53.07 - Next. 00:16:53.07\00:16:54.14 - We have another caller down that same line, 00:16:54.14\00:16:56.28 the same topic. It says Billy from Texas. 00:16:56.28\00:16:58.88 Billy, good evening, you're on the air. 00:16:58.88\00:17:00.88 - [Billy] Hi. 00:17:00.88\00:17:02.22 I just was trying to ask about, I think it's Luke 16, 00:17:02.22\00:17:06.29 around 24, yeah, 24. 00:17:07.09\00:17:09.92 - [Pastor Jëan] Rich man and Lazarus. 00:17:09.92\00:17:11.93 - [Billy] Yeah. If we're not going to heaven 00:17:11.93\00:17:16.33 or hell until the rapture, 00:17:16.33\00:17:17.67 then I don't see where this scripture, just, 00:17:17.67\00:17:20.67 that's where my question is. 00:17:20.67\00:17:22.67 - Okay. Great question. 00:17:22.67\00:17:23.91 Thanks for asking that. 00:17:23.91\00:17:25.41 For those who might be listening 00:17:25.41\00:17:26.71 and you're not, once again, you're not familiar 00:17:26.71\00:17:28.78 with Luke chapter 16, verse 19. 00:17:28.78\00:17:30.71 We find an interesting parable. 00:17:30.71\00:17:32.18 It's the parable there about the hitting 00:17:32.18\00:17:34.45 of that is the rich man and Lazarus. 00:17:34.45\00:17:36.05 And so, Jesus told this parable about a certain rich man 00:17:36.05\00:17:39.02 who was living very well, 00:17:39.02\00:17:41.09 and there was a beggar named Lazarus 00:17:41.09\00:17:43.86 that was lying at his gate. 00:17:43.86\00:17:45.53 And the rich man didn't provide anything 00:17:45.53\00:17:47.86 to help the poor man. 00:17:47.86\00:17:49.50 But over time the rich man died and Lazarus died. 00:17:49.50\00:17:53.47 And then in the parable, 00:17:53.47\00:17:54.60 Lazarus goes to a place of paradise, 00:17:54.60\00:17:57.51 referred to here as Abraham's bosom. 00:17:57.51\00:17:59.51 We'll talk about that in just a minute. 00:17:59.51\00:18:01.24 Whereas the rich man goes to a place of torment or hell, 00:18:01.24\00:18:05.25 and then the rich man who's in hell looks up to Lazarus, 00:18:05.25\00:18:08.92 who is in Abraham's bosom, and says, you know, 00:18:08.92\00:18:11.65 it's so hot down here, 00:18:11.65\00:18:13.02 can you just put a little drop of water on my tongue? 00:18:13.02\00:18:16.12 And the message comes back, no, there's a great gulf fixed. 00:18:16.12\00:18:19.43 We can't do that. 00:18:19.43\00:18:20.76 But then the rich man calls back up again and says, 00:18:20.76\00:18:23.40 you know, I have these other brothers, I have five brothers, 00:18:23.40\00:18:26.57 and I don't want them to come to this place of torment. 00:18:26.57\00:18:30.01 So, I beg of you, send someone to my father's house, 00:18:30.01\00:18:33.54 send Lazarus to my father's house so that he can warn them. 00:18:33.54\00:18:37.18 Then the message comes back, well, 00:18:37.18\00:18:38.51 they have Moses and the prophets let them hear them. 00:18:38.51\00:18:42.82 And then he said, no, father Abraham, 00:18:42.82\00:18:44.62 but if one goes from the dead, they will repent, verse 31. 00:18:44.62\00:18:48.66 But he said, if they do not hear Moses in the prophets, 00:18:48.66\00:18:50.96 neither will they be persuaded 00:18:50.96\00:18:52.46 though one rise from the dead. 00:18:52.46\00:18:54.56 Now, this parable is not a description 00:18:54.56\00:18:57.50 of what happens when a person dies. 00:18:57.50\00:18:59.63 The Bible makes it clear that when a person dies, 00:18:59.63\00:19:02.14 his next conscious thought is the second coming of Christ 00:19:02.14\00:19:05.04 and the glorious resurrection if they're believer. 00:19:05.04\00:19:08.31 But Jesus is making it very important point. 00:19:08.31\00:19:10.35 Notice this is the only parable, pastor Carlos, 00:19:10.35\00:19:12.68 where somebody in the parable is actually named. 00:19:12.68\00:19:15.58 Here we have a parable with a name 00:19:15.58\00:19:17.45 and this person's name is Lazarus, and Lazarus dies. 00:19:17.45\00:19:21.96 And the question is asked, well, 00:19:21.96\00:19:23.32 they will believe if Lazarus is resurrected. 00:19:23.32\00:19:26.93 Well, the reality is that shortly 00:19:26.93\00:19:28.40 after this parable was told, 00:19:28.40\00:19:30.57 somebody whose name was Lazarus did die. 00:19:30.57\00:19:34.37 And three days later Jesus did resurrect him, 00:19:34.37\00:19:36.87 and still the religious leaders refused to acknowledge Jesus 00:19:36.87\00:19:40.98 as the Messiah. 00:19:40.98\00:19:42.21 So, this was really a parable 00:19:42.21\00:19:43.78 pointing out their unbelief and their stubbornness 00:19:43.78\00:19:46.98 to acknowledge the fact that Jesus was the Messiah. 00:19:46.98\00:19:49.95 It was also part of the Greek mythology. 00:19:49.95\00:19:53.39 The Greeks had this belief 00:19:53.39\00:19:54.82 that kind of filtered a little way 00:19:54.82\00:19:56.29 even into Judaism at the time, 00:19:56.29\00:19:58.43 that there was this place of torment 00:19:58.43\00:20:00.80 and this place of paradise. 00:20:00.80\00:20:02.16 And immediately when a person died, 00:20:02.16\00:20:03.80 they went to one place or the other. 00:20:03.80\00:20:05.67 And Jesus used that common belief to illustrate a truth. 00:20:05.67\00:20:09.80 And the truth is, 00:20:09.80\00:20:11.11 even if somebody is resurrected from the dead, 00:20:11.11\00:20:13.68 in that case, Lazarus, 00:20:13.68\00:20:15.18 that's not gonna be enough to convince somebody 00:20:15.18\00:20:17.35 if they turn away from the Word of God. 00:20:17.35\00:20:20.22 That's really what the parable's all about. 00:20:20.22\00:20:21.95 - [Billy] So, it's just a comparison kind of a parable, 00:20:21.95\00:20:24.95 just, okay. 00:20:24.95\00:20:26.02 - Yeah, it's to make the point. 00:20:26.02\00:20:27.16 And again, the point is quite clear there 00:20:27.16\00:20:29.76 that it's talking about somebody by the name of Lazarus 00:20:29.76\00:20:32.39 who was resurrected from the dead 00:20:32.39\00:20:34.10 and the religious leaders 00:20:34.10\00:20:35.33 still refused to acknowledge Jesus. 00:20:35.33\00:20:36.80 - Yeah, I think it also points to, 00:20:36.80\00:20:38.50 at the end it says the save, 00:20:38.50\00:20:40.50 they're looking at the lost, that context. 00:20:40.50\00:20:43.20 And I think it's also making reference to the millennium, 00:20:43.20\00:20:45.91 when right before the fire comes to consume, 00:20:45.91\00:20:49.48 those inside of the city 00:20:49.48\00:20:50.71 are looking at those on the outside. 00:20:50.71\00:20:52.25 And those on the outside are looking at the inside. 00:20:52.25\00:20:53.95 So I think it also ties in a little bit of. 00:20:53.95\00:20:55.98 - That's right. 00:20:55.98\00:20:56.95 And every destiny is set, right. 00:20:56.95\00:20:57.92 - Yeah. 00:20:57.92\00:20:58.89 - There's no changing sides. 00:20:58.89\00:21:00.22 You know, we do have a lesson, 00:21:00.22\00:21:01.32 some people do have a question about this 00:21:01.32\00:21:02.99 and the subject of what happens when a person dies. 00:21:02.99\00:21:05.79 We do have a study guide that's simply called, 00:21:05.79\00:21:07.60 Are the Dead Really Dead? 00:21:07.60\00:21:09.36 And it explores this Bible truth and many others 00:21:09.36\00:21:11.90 and actually deals with this passage of scripture. 00:21:11.90\00:21:14.20 We'll be happy to send that study guide 00:21:14.20\00:21:15.64 to anyone who calls and asks. 00:21:15.64\00:21:17.34 The number to call for that is (800) 835-6747. 00:21:17.34\00:21:20.98 And again, you can just ask for the study guide. 00:21:20.98\00:21:23.01 It's called, Are the Dead Really Dead? 00:21:23.01\00:21:24.75 And we have a magazine that you can get through Amazing Fact 00:21:24.75\00:21:27.68 called deathtruth.com, that also deals with the subject. 00:21:27.68\00:21:32.32 Who do we have next? 00:21:32.32\00:21:33.12 - All right, next we have Hannah 00:21:33.12\00:21:35.89 calling from Abilene, Texas. 00:21:35.89\00:21:39.09 Hello Hannah, you are on the air. 00:21:39.09\00:21:40.83 - [Hannah] Okay. My question comes from first Timothy, 00:21:42.26\00:21:45.73 it is 5:23, where it says, 00:21:45.73\00:21:48.40 "No longer drink water, 00:21:48.40\00:21:50.11 but use a little wine for your stomach's sake 00:21:50.11\00:21:52.44 and your frequent infirmities." 00:21:52.44\00:21:55.04 And I know we're not supposed to drink alcohol, 00:21:55.04\00:21:57.31 and I'm just wondering if I'm misunderstanding that. 00:21:57.31\00:22:00.12 - [Pastor Jëan] Okay, good question. 00:22:00.12\00:22:01.45 Yes, there are situations, not as you know, today 00:22:01.45\00:22:05.75 it's a little different. 00:22:05.75\00:22:06.79 We do get fresh drinking water, 00:22:06.79\00:22:09.62 but as far back as the Middle Ages in England 00:22:09.62\00:22:12.76 and throughout Europe, the water wasn't fresh. 00:22:12.76\00:22:17.00 And of course, the way they farmed, 00:22:17.00\00:22:19.47 there was a lot of runoff into the streams and the rivers. 00:22:19.47\00:22:22.27 It was somewhat difficult at times to get fresh water 00:22:22.27\00:22:25.27 and you could get various bacterial diseases 00:22:25.27\00:22:28.44 from just drinking river water. 00:22:28.44\00:22:31.48 What's been referred to here is apparently Timothy 00:22:31.48\00:22:34.72 was struggling with some type of stomach ailment 00:22:34.72\00:22:37.29 because it says frequent infirmities. 00:22:37.29\00:22:39.85 And the point being made is that this was a, 00:22:39.85\00:22:42.39 if you like, a prescription that was given to Timothy 00:22:42.39\00:22:46.09 saying this will help your stomach condition, 00:22:46.09\00:22:49.30 this is not a endorsement to drink alcohol, 00:22:49.30\00:22:52.97 it was for medical use only. 00:22:52.97\00:22:55.67 And of course we do know that alcohol 00:22:55.67\00:22:57.07 does have certain medicinal uses. 00:22:57.07\00:22:59.94 We use alcohol today to help clean wounds 00:22:59.94\00:23:03.14 and to help with infection. 00:23:03.14\00:23:04.45 And that was really the situation 00:23:04.45\00:23:06.38 that was being addressed there. 00:23:06.38\00:23:07.48 It was not saying, you know, 00:23:07.48\00:23:08.88 Timothy drink alcohol on a regular basis 00:23:08.88\00:23:11.05 cuz the Bible tells us that wine is a marker, 00:23:11.05\00:23:13.19 strong drink is raging, 00:23:13.19\00:23:14.92 whoever is deceived, thereby is not wise. 00:23:14.92\00:23:18.09 So, this was for a specific health situation. 00:23:18.09\00:23:21.20 - [Hannah] Okay, cool. 00:23:21.20\00:23:22.36 - All right. 00:23:23.83\00:23:24.63 - [Hannah] Thank you very much. 00:23:24.63\00:23:25.43 - All right, you're welcome. 00:23:25.43\00:23:26.10 Thanks for calling. 00:23:26.10\00:23:27.57 - Thank you. 00:23:27.57\00:23:28.37 - You know, pastor Carlos, 00:23:28.37\00:23:29.44 we do have a book talking about alcohol. 00:23:29.44\00:23:30.54 It's called, Alcohol and the Christian 00:23:30.54\00:23:32.97 and deals with the subject. 00:23:32.97\00:23:34.28 And we'll send it to anyone who calls and asks. 00:23:34.28\00:23:36.64 The number is 800-835-6747 and just ask for the book. 00:23:36.64\00:23:41.25 It's called Alcohol and the Christian, 00:23:41.25\00:23:42.62 we'll be happy to send it to you. 00:23:42.62\00:23:44.15 That is, if you're in North America. 00:23:44.15\00:23:45.65 Now, if you're outside of North America, 00:23:45.65\00:23:47.32 we're not gonna be able to send you the book, 00:23:47.32\00:23:48.86 but you can go to the Amazing Facts website, 00:23:48.86\00:23:51.39 just amazingfacts.org, 00:23:51.39\00:23:52.49 and you'll be able to read the book 00:23:52.49\00:23:54.73 for free, right there online. 00:23:54.73\00:23:56.63 - Amen. 00:23:56.63\00:23:57.47 - Who do we have next? 00:23:57.47\00:23:58.70 - Next we have Jeff from Montana. 00:23:58.70\00:24:00.30 Good evening, Jeff. 00:24:00.30\00:24:01.10 Welcome to Bible Answers Live. 00:24:01.10\00:24:02.87 - [Jeff] I was reading the Parable 00:24:02.87\00:24:05.17 of the Unforgiving Servant in Matthew 18, 00:24:05.17\00:24:08.34 and in verse 34 from the New King James version, 00:24:08.34\00:24:11.61 it reads, 00:24:11.61\00:24:12.41 "And the master was angry, 00:24:12.41\00:24:14.05 and delivered him to the torturers 00:24:14.05\00:24:15.82 until he should pay all that was due him." 00:24:15.82\00:24:19.15 And I recognize the way that's written. 00:24:19.15\00:24:22.06 It's a dangling participle in the sense that, 00:24:22.06\00:24:25.46 is it the unforgiving servant that's supposed 00:24:25.46\00:24:27.76 to repay the master what he owed the master? 00:24:27.76\00:24:31.77 Or is he being the unforgiving servant, 00:24:31.77\00:24:35.70 supposed to pay what was due him of his fellow servant? 00:24:35.70\00:24:39.81 And I know the latter sentiment 00:24:39.81\00:24:41.18 might not make as much sense, 00:24:41.18\00:24:42.94 but I was looking at the Greek word used for pay 00:24:42.94\00:24:46.48 and it's (Greek word), 00:24:46.48\00:24:47.85 which can mean to give away or give up or restore or yield. 00:24:47.85\00:24:52.92 And so I was thinking about what unforgiveness does to us 00:24:54.29\00:24:56.73 as we are the ones that are tortured by unforgiveness, 00:24:56.73\00:25:01.06 unless we give up or yield through forgiveness, 00:25:01.06\00:25:03.50 what we might think is owed us. 00:25:03.50\00:25:06.20 And so I wanted to get your take on that. 00:25:06.20\00:25:08.14 - Yeah, absolutely. 00:25:08.14\00:25:09.24 I think you bring up a very good point. 00:25:09.24\00:25:11.51 People that refuse to forgive others 00:25:11.51\00:25:13.48 and of course we're talking about situation 00:25:13.48\00:25:16.38 or experiences that might be very difficult, 00:25:16.38\00:25:18.98 but a person who holds onto anger 00:25:18.98\00:25:22.02 and hatred towards another, 00:25:22.02\00:25:24.45 it might be a family member 00:25:24.45\00:25:25.82 and they hate their family member for years and years. 00:25:25.82\00:25:28.89 The reality is that it's actually eating them up 00:25:28.89\00:25:31.63 from the inside. 00:25:31.63\00:25:33.23 But if the person can get to the point with God's help 00:25:33.23\00:25:35.90 of letting that go, of saying, you know, I forgive them, 00:25:35.90\00:25:39.63 and placing the person in God's hands 00:25:39.63\00:25:41.84 and trusting in God's dealings, 00:25:41.84\00:25:44.91 there is a sense of peace and a joy that comes. 00:25:44.91\00:25:48.28 So, in one sense, yes, those who refuse to forgive, 00:25:48.28\00:25:51.81 they bring it upon themselves, their own torture. 00:25:51.81\00:25:55.45 And ultimately for those who have hurt others, 00:25:55.45\00:25:58.25 there is a day of reckoning. 00:25:58.25\00:25:59.79 The Bible makes it clear that there is a judgment 00:25:59.79\00:26:02.42 and people will give an account 00:26:02.42\00:26:03.89 of the things that they have done, 00:26:03.89\00:26:05.26 especially in hurting others. 00:26:05.26\00:26:07.13 Revelation talks about Jesus, in Revelation chapter 22, 00:26:07.13\00:26:10.23 Jesus says, behold, 00:26:10.23\00:26:11.33 I come quickly and My reward is with Me 00:26:11.33\00:26:14.04 to give to every man according to his deed. 00:26:14.04\00:26:15.94 So, there is a reward for the righteous, 00:26:15.94\00:26:18.44 but there's also results for the wicked 00:26:18.44\00:26:21.84 based upon what they have done to hurt other people. 00:26:21.84\00:26:24.55 But the importance of forgiving each other, of course, 00:26:24.55\00:26:27.62 that's a commandment that Jesus gave. 00:26:27.62\00:26:29.32 He says, how can your Father in heaven forgive you 00:26:29.32\00:26:31.25 if you refuse to forgive your fellow man? 00:26:31.25\00:26:34.12 We're not saying it's always easy to forgive, 00:26:34.12\00:26:36.62 but by God's grace, 00:26:36.62\00:26:37.96 one is to ask for that and seek that forgiveness. 00:26:37.96\00:26:40.90 You know, when we understand how much God has forgiven us, 00:26:40.90\00:26:43.23 it makes it a little easier for us 00:26:43.23\00:26:44.60 to be able to forgive our fellow man. 00:26:44.60\00:26:46.90 And that's why we need to receive that forgiveness. 00:26:46.90\00:26:49.04 Friends, we're taking a short break. 00:26:49.04\00:26:50.37 We'll come back with more Bible questions. 00:26:50.37\00:26:52.91 (inspiring music) 00:26:52.91\00:26:56.24 - [Announcer] Stay tuned. 00:26:56.24\00:26:57.35 Bible Answers Live will return shortly. 00:26:57.35\00:26:59.75 (rain falling) 00:27:03.65\00:27:06.29 (door creaking) 00:27:09.12\00:27:10.59 (thunder crashing) 00:27:10.59\00:27:11.69 (spooky music) 00:27:11.69\00:27:13.73 - [Announcer] Throughout recorded history. 00:27:13.73\00:27:15.90 Tales of ghosts and spirits can be found in folklore 00:27:15.90\00:27:19.07 in nearly every country and culture. 00:27:19.07\00:27:22.67 Egyptians built pyramids to help guide the spirits 00:27:24.04\00:27:26.61 of their leaders. 00:27:26.61\00:27:27.88 Rome sanctioned holidays to honor 00:27:27.88\00:27:30.28 and appease the spirits of their dead. 00:27:30.28\00:27:32.71 Even the Bible tells of a king that used a witch 00:27:32.71\00:27:36.25 to contact the spirit of a deceased prophet. 00:27:36.25\00:27:38.82 Today, ancient folklore of spirits 00:27:38.82\00:27:41.39 and apparitions have gone from mere superstitions 00:27:41.39\00:27:44.56 to mainstream entertainment and reality. 00:27:44.56\00:27:48.40 Scientific organizations investigate stories of hauntings 00:27:48.40\00:27:51.50 and sightings trying to prove once 00:27:51.50\00:27:54.00 and for all the existence of ghosts. 00:27:54.00\00:27:57.37 Even with all the new found technology 00:27:59.14\00:28:01.98 and centuries of stories all over the world, 00:28:01.98\00:28:05.15 there is still no clear cut answer. 00:28:05.15\00:28:08.82 (thunder crashing) 00:28:08.82\00:28:10.29 So how do we know what's true? 00:30:39.30\00:30:42.00 - Next we have Henry calling from the Bronx, New York. 00:30:42.00\00:30:45.57 Henry, welcome. 00:30:45.57\00:30:46.84 You are on the air. 00:30:46.84\00:30:48.38 - [Henry] Was Cleopatra born before the Passover or after? 00:30:48.38\00:30:53.15 - [Pastor Jëan] Okay. Yeah, 00:30:53.15\00:30:54.38 let me give you the answer to that. 00:30:54.38\00:30:56.28 Cleopatra was born a long time after the Passover. 00:30:56.28\00:30:59.19 Of course, the Passover 00:30:59.19\00:31:00.36 was the children of Israel leaving Egypt. 00:31:00.36\00:31:03.39 Cleopatra wasn't born until around 51 B.C. 00:31:03.39\00:31:08.10 She was actually the daughter of Ptolemy the sixth, 00:31:08.10\00:31:13.07 I believe. 00:31:13.07\00:31:14.20 And he was one of those Greek rulers 00:31:14.20\00:31:17.34 that was taking control of the area of Egypt and the like. 00:31:17.34\00:31:20.94 So Cleopatra was born in 51, around 51 B.C. 00:31:20.94\00:31:25.11 so you know, less than 50 years before Christ. 00:31:25.11\00:31:28.72 Thanks Henry. Who do we have next? 00:31:28.72\00:31:30.75 - Next we have a question from Barbara in Orlando, Florida. 00:31:30.75\00:31:35.82 Barbara, welcome to the program. 00:31:36.62\00:31:38.49 - [Barbara] Hi. Hello, you guys. 00:31:39.86\00:31:42.06 My question is on Revelation chapter 21. 00:31:42.06\00:31:45.90 Revelation chapter 21 talks about we will be 00:31:47.40\00:31:50.34 with God for like a thousand years 00:31:50.34\00:31:52.34 and Satan will be locked up for a thousand years. 00:31:53.58\00:31:56.58 So I'm wondering where are like, the rest of the world, 00:31:56.58\00:32:00.08 like, the people that believe in God, 00:32:00.08\00:32:01.68 like, where are they gonna be? 00:32:01.68\00:32:02.88 Will they be dead? 00:32:02.88\00:32:04.25 Like, where exactly they gonna be? 00:32:04.25\00:32:06.52 What's gonna happen to them? 00:32:06.52\00:32:07.89 - [Pastor Jëan] Okay. 00:32:07.89\00:32:08.72 - [Barbara] Like, 00:32:08.72\00:32:09.42 - [Pastor Jëan] Yes. 00:32:09.42\00:32:10.23 Good question. All right, 00:32:10.23\00:32:11.56 let me give you a quick background to Revelation 20, 00:32:11.56\00:32:14.46 and then we can talk about the millennium. 00:32:14.46\00:32:16.73 Revelation 19 ends with a picture 00:32:16.73\00:32:19.47 of the second coming of Jesus. 00:32:19.47\00:32:20.97 Jesus described, 00:32:20.97\00:32:22.10 remember Revelation is a symbolic book. 00:32:22.10\00:32:23.47 And Jesus is described as coming on a white horse 00:32:23.47\00:32:26.14 with the armies of heaven. 00:32:26.14\00:32:27.31 That would be the angels. 00:32:27.31\00:32:28.71 He's not literally coming on a horse, 00:32:28.71\00:32:30.78 but a conqueror would often ride into battle 00:32:30.78\00:32:35.58 on a horse to bring deliverance to someone 00:32:35.58\00:32:38.72 or to gain victory over someone. 00:32:38.72\00:32:40.86 And so here in Revelation 19, 00:32:40.86\00:32:42.52 Jesus is pictured is coming on a white horse. 00:32:42.52\00:32:44.53 It's a symbol of the second coming of Christ. 00:32:44.53\00:32:47.00 When Jesus comes, 00:32:47.00\00:32:49.03 the wicked will turn to the rocks on the mountains. 00:32:49.03\00:32:52.03 This is Revelation chapter six, the last verse, 00:32:52.03\00:32:54.94 the last couple verses, revelation six, 00:32:54.94\00:32:57.24 "The wicked will turn to the rocks and the mountains 00:32:57.24\00:32:59.67 and they will say, fall on us 00:32:59.67\00:33:01.41 and hide us from the face of Him 00:33:01.41\00:33:02.78 that sits upon the throne from the wrath of the Lamb. 00:33:02.78\00:33:05.28 For the great day of His wrath come 00:33:05.28\00:33:07.18 and who shall be able to stand?" 00:33:07.18\00:33:10.22 The Bible also tells us in Second Thessalonians 00:33:10.22\00:33:12.99 that when the Lord comes, 00:33:12.99\00:33:14.99 when the second coming takes place, 00:33:14.99\00:33:16.19 the wicked are destroyed 00:33:16.19\00:33:17.76 with the brightness of Christ coming. 00:33:17.76\00:33:20.13 So, these two groups, when Jesus comes, 00:33:20.13\00:33:22.70 there are the wicked who are alive. 00:33:22.70\00:33:24.73 They're destroyed with the brightness of Christ coming. 00:33:24.73\00:33:27.67 Then you have the righteous who are alive 00:33:27.67\00:33:29.70 at the time of Christ coming, and they are translated, 00:33:29.70\00:33:32.61 they are transformed, they receive their glorified bodies, 00:33:32.61\00:33:35.18 and they are called up to meet Jesus in the air. 00:33:35.18\00:33:38.61 And you have a third group, 00:33:38.61\00:33:39.85 which are the resurrected righteous ones. 00:33:39.85\00:33:42.28 They're also resurrected at the second coming, 00:33:42.28\00:33:45.09 and they are called up to meet Jesus in the air. 00:33:45.09\00:33:47.92 Then the righteous will go back to heaven 00:33:47.92\00:33:50.33 for a thousand years. 00:33:50.33\00:33:51.66 And Revelation talks about this 1000 year period 00:33:51.66\00:33:54.00 known as the millennium. 00:33:54.00\00:33:55.60 So what's happening on earth during the thousand years, 00:33:55.60\00:33:57.60 while all the wicked are dead, 00:33:57.60\00:33:59.30 the Devil and his angels are here on the earth. 00:33:59.30\00:34:01.94 And that's what it talks about in Revelation chapter 20, 00:34:01.94\00:34:04.21 where it talks about the Devil is bound by this chain 00:34:04.21\00:34:06.98 and he's placed in this bottomless pit. 00:34:06.98\00:34:09.44 It's not talking about some deep cave. 00:34:09.44\00:34:12.21 You can't restrain a spirit being with a chain, 00:34:12.21\00:34:16.65 but it's a chain of circumstances. 00:34:16.65\00:34:18.15 The Devil is here on the earth. 00:34:18.15\00:34:19.39 He has nobody to tempt. 00:34:19.39\00:34:20.56 He can't go anywhere. 00:34:20.56\00:34:21.66 God won't let him leave the earth. 00:34:21.66\00:34:23.06 So, for a thousand years, the Devil and his angels are here. 00:34:23.06\00:34:26.29 All the righteous are in heaven. 00:34:26.29\00:34:27.50 The wicked are dead. 00:34:27.50\00:34:28.83 Then at the end of the 1000 years, known as the millennium, 00:34:28.83\00:34:31.67 you read about in Revelation chapter 21, 00:34:31.67\00:34:34.50 it talks about the new Jerusalem 00:34:34.50\00:34:36.20 coming down from God out of heaven. 00:34:36.20\00:34:38.47 And the new Jerusalem comes to the earth 00:34:38.47\00:34:40.51 with all of the saved. 00:34:40.51\00:34:42.11 It's at that time that Jesus sets His foot 00:34:42.11\00:34:44.58 on the Mount of Olives 00:34:44.58\00:34:45.71 and it opens up and it forms a great valley. 00:34:45.71\00:34:47.92 And the new Jerusalem comes to rest, 00:34:47.92\00:34:50.15 and then all of the wicked are resurrected. 00:34:50.15\00:34:52.75 So, the righteous are inside the new Jerusalem, 00:34:52.75\00:34:54.96 the wicked are outside the new Jerusalem, 00:34:54.96\00:34:57.13 and we have what we call the great white throne judgment. 00:34:57.13\00:35:00.96 And at the end of that great white throne judgment, 00:35:00.96\00:35:03.03 according to Revelation chapter 20, it says, 00:35:03.03\00:35:05.60 the wicked surround the beloved city. 00:35:05.60\00:35:07.57 They surround the new Jerusalem, 00:35:07.57\00:35:09.37 they try to attack the new Jerusalem, 00:35:09.37\00:35:11.87 but then fire comes down and devours them. 00:35:11.87\00:35:14.28 And the fire that destroys the wicked destroys the Devil 00:35:14.28\00:35:16.64 and his angels and purifies the earth. 00:35:16.64\00:35:19.25 And then God creates a new heavens 00:35:19.25\00:35:21.65 and a new earth wherein dwells righteousness. 00:35:21.65\00:35:24.55 So that's just a quick synopsis of events 00:35:24.55\00:35:26.92 that are to take place from the second coming of Christ 00:35:26.92\00:35:29.89 to the third coming of Christ that happens at the end 00:35:29.89\00:35:32.46 of the 1000 year period. 00:35:32.46\00:35:34.30 - [Barbara] So at that time, will they be judged 00:35:35.63\00:35:37.63 like the wicked people? 00:35:37.63\00:35:39.37 - Yes. 00:35:39.37\00:35:40.40 Now, of course the decision is already made 00:35:40.40\00:35:42.67 as to who's saved and lost the time of the second coming. 00:35:42.67\00:35:46.11 So, when Jesus comes the righteous, 00:35:46.11\00:35:48.21 they're gonna be taken to heaven, 00:35:48.21\00:35:49.31 the wicked, they're gonna be destroyed 00:35:49.31\00:35:50.41 with the brightness of Christ coming. 00:35:50.41\00:35:52.68 But during the 1000 years where the saints live 00:35:52.68\00:35:55.82 and rain with Christ for a thousand years, 00:35:55.82\00:35:58.49 they will be participating, that is the saved, 00:35:58.49\00:36:01.29 they'll be participating or validating, you might say, 00:36:01.29\00:36:06.06 the judgements that God has already made. 00:36:06.06\00:36:08.30 The Bible tells us, maybe Carlos, you can look it up, 00:36:08.30\00:36:10.80 that the righteous will even judge the angels. 00:36:10.80\00:36:13.50 - Yes. 00:36:13.50\00:36:14.57 - So during that 1000 year time period, 00:36:14.57\00:36:16.47 there is a judgment that occurs. 00:36:16.47\00:36:18.04 And yeah, the righteous will even have some part to play 00:36:18.04\00:36:21.01 in the judgment of the angels, 00:36:21.01\00:36:22.01 let alone the judgment of the wicked. 00:36:22.01\00:36:24.58 But at the end of that thousand years, 00:36:25.68\00:36:27.32 the wicked are resurrected 00:36:27.32\00:36:28.72 where they get a chance to actually see the evidence, 00:36:28.72\00:36:31.62 and they could ask the question, 00:36:31.62\00:36:32.85 why am I not in the city? 00:36:32.85\00:36:34.42 God's gonna make it very clear. 00:36:34.42\00:36:36.09 And at the end of that judgment, the Bible says, 00:36:36.09\00:36:38.56 every knee shall bow, 00:36:38.56\00:36:39.96 every tongue will confess even the Devil that Jesus is Lord. 00:36:39.96\00:36:43.70 But it's not a confession outta guilt or sorrow for sin, 00:36:43.70\00:36:46.20 it's just an acknowledgement of the evidence. 00:36:46.20\00:36:48.57 Because no sooner do they say that, 00:36:48.57\00:36:50.31 then they try to destroy the new Jerusalem. 00:36:50.31\00:36:52.71 - Yeah. That verses is first Corinthians chapter six, 00:36:54.04\00:36:55.68 verse three. 00:36:55.68\00:36:56.75 - First Corinthians chapter six, first three 00:36:56.75\00:36:57.85 that says, well, do you have a there? 00:36:57.85\00:36:59.91 Can you read it for us? 00:36:59.91\00:37:01.48 - Well, I have it in Spanish, but I can 00:37:01.48\00:37:03.05 - [Pastor Jëan] Oh yeah, in Spanish. Yes. 00:37:03.05\00:37:04.39 - But it says, We not know 00:37:04.39\00:37:05.52 that we shall also judge the angels. 00:37:05.52\00:37:07.42 How much more than shall we judge the things of this life? 00:37:07.42\00:37:10.33 - All right. Very good translation They Pastor Carlos. 00:37:10.33\00:37:12.79 (laughing) 00:37:12.79\00:37:13.60 - Does that help Barbara? 00:37:13.60\00:37:15.40 - [Barbara] Yes. Thank you very much. 00:37:15.40\00:37:17.00 - All right. You're welcome. 00:37:17.00\00:37:18.03 Thanks, for the call. 00:37:18.03\00:37:18.87 - Thank you. 00:37:18.87\00:37:20.00 - You know, we do have a study guide 00:37:20.00\00:37:21.10 that talks about the 1000 year period. 00:37:21.10\00:37:22.74 It's called A Thousand Years of Peace. 00:37:22.74\00:37:24.84 And if you'd like to learn more about that, 00:37:24.84\00:37:26.91 we'll be happy to send it to you. 00:37:26.91\00:37:28.04 The number to call is (800) 835-6747. 00:37:28.04\00:37:32.31 And you can ask for the study guide. 00:37:32.31\00:37:33.58 It's called A Thousand Years of Peace. 00:37:33.58\00:37:35.82 Who do we have next? 00:37:35.82\00:37:36.82 - Next we have Malaura from Wyoming. 00:37:36.82\00:37:40.79 Welcome to the Bible Answers Live. 00:37:40.79\00:37:43.39 - [Malaura] In the last year, 00:37:43.39\00:37:44.93 I have made a lifestyle change and I have become vegan, 00:37:44.93\00:37:49.70 and I have added exercise, and I have added, 00:37:49.70\00:37:52.23 I have been studying my Bible every day for, gosh, 00:37:52.23\00:37:57.31 at least 18 months now. 00:37:58.24\00:37:59.61 I have done everything that everybody has suggested I do, 00:37:59.61\00:38:04.11 but I still suffer continually with depression. 00:38:04.11\00:38:09.18 Some days, it is just all I can do to get out of bed. 00:38:10.55\00:38:12.85 I don't know what I'm doing wrong, 00:38:12.85\00:38:14.69 I really don't. 00:38:15.69\00:38:16.73 So, if you could just tell me, please? 00:38:16.73\00:38:20.03 I've lost over 70 pounds. 00:38:20.03\00:38:21.66 I mean, I, you know, I've worked really hard. 00:38:21.66\00:38:25.47 - Yes. And you know, Malaura, I can understand, 00:38:25.47\00:38:30.17 I've worked with folks and had church members, 00:38:30.17\00:38:32.44 and even folks close to me 00:38:32.44\00:38:34.14 that have struggled with depression. 00:38:34.14\00:38:36.04 And, you know, depression is one of those things that 00:38:36.04\00:38:38.91 when you're feeling depressed, 00:38:38.91\00:38:40.15 it's easy to blame yourself and say, you know, 00:38:40.15\00:38:42.15 I must be a bad person. 00:38:42.15\00:38:43.25 There must be something that I'm doing wrong. 00:38:43.25\00:38:45.55 I think we need to recognize that depression, 00:38:45.55\00:38:47.86 there's a number of causes. 00:38:47.86\00:38:49.42 One could be, somebody goes through a dramatic experience. 00:38:49.42\00:38:52.09 It could be the result of a loss of a family member. 00:38:52.09\00:38:55.53 It could just be a genetic disposition. 00:38:55.53\00:38:57.93 It could be a chemical imbalance. 00:38:57.93\00:38:59.70 There are many different reasons for depression. 00:38:59.70\00:39:01.60 One could be spiritual, but that's not always the case. 00:39:01.60\00:39:04.61 We even have examples in the Bible 00:39:04.61\00:39:06.24 of faithful men and woman who suffered depression. 00:39:06.24\00:39:10.11 You read some of the Psalms where David was very depressed, 00:39:10.11\00:39:13.11 and he says, oh, I wish I could die. 00:39:13.11\00:39:15.52 Job went through a terrible time of depression as a result 00:39:15.52\00:39:18.25 of the trials that came to him. 00:39:18.25\00:39:19.35 So, just because a person is facing 00:39:19.35\00:39:21.76 or experiencing depression, 00:39:21.76\00:39:22.86 it doesn't mean that God doesn't love them 00:39:22.86\00:39:25.19 or that they're a great sinner, 00:39:25.19\00:39:26.90 or they have turned away from God. 00:39:26.90\00:39:29.10 But I think we live in a world where there is sin, 00:39:29.10\00:39:32.30 and some of the consequences of sin that we do have 00:39:32.30\00:39:34.60 is suffering and pain and sorrow, which can be depression. 00:39:34.60\00:39:38.61 So, the first thing I want to tell you is 00:39:38.61\00:39:40.98 don't be reluctant. 00:39:40.98\00:39:42.81 Do everything you're doing, 00:39:42.81\00:39:43.61 which sounds like you are. 00:39:43.61\00:39:44.91 You're spending time in prayer, 00:39:44.91\00:39:46.31 you're reading your Bible, you're living healthfully, 00:39:46.31\00:39:49.08 you're eating well, you're trying to get your exercise. 00:39:49.08\00:39:51.15 But don't be reluctant to search a for 00:39:51.15\00:39:54.82 and find medical help as well. 00:39:54.82\00:39:57.36 There are things that can be done 00:39:57.36\00:40:00.13 to help a person through difficult bouts of depression. 00:40:00.13\00:40:04.47 Some people just have mild depression. 00:40:04.47\00:40:06.53 Others might go into very severe depression, 00:40:06.53\00:40:08.74 and they need some medical help to get them back, 00:40:08.74\00:40:12.87 whether that's a medication 00:40:12.87\00:40:14.74 or maybe some type of a treatment. 00:40:14.74\00:40:16.58 So, I would encourage you to explore all of those options. 00:40:16.58\00:40:19.48 But despite the depression, 00:40:19.48\00:40:20.82 the good news is God loves you and he's able to help you. 00:40:20.82\00:40:23.92 Never give up, keep praying, keep seeking for help, 00:40:23.92\00:40:26.69 and then utilize all the resources 00:40:26.69\00:40:29.46 that God has made available to us. 00:40:29.46\00:40:32.23 And realize that depression is an illness 00:40:32.23\00:40:34.63 just like any other illness, it can be, 00:40:34.63\00:40:37.67 and it can have real physical results. 00:40:37.67\00:40:41.04 So, take advantage of any medical help that you can get 00:40:41.04\00:40:44.44 to try and relieve that depression 00:40:44.44\00:40:46.51 and keep it a burden of prayer. 00:40:46.51\00:40:48.34 As I know it's a difficult thing to go through. 00:40:48.34\00:40:51.48 You know, Pastor Carlos, it's, 00:40:51.48\00:40:53.38 I think part of the reason we have those examples 00:40:53.38\00:40:55.68 in the Bible of people who have suffered depression 00:40:55.68\00:40:57.69 is to help us, 00:40:57.69\00:40:59.15 because everybody goes through some time of difficulty, 00:40:59.15\00:41:00.86 some more than others. 00:41:00.86\00:41:02.32 And there could be family relations, 00:41:02.32\00:41:03.79 could be genetic for some folks, 00:41:03.79\00:41:06.13 but just because we're depressed 00:41:06.13\00:41:07.40 it doesn't mean God loves us less 00:41:07.40\00:41:08.83 or that we're a great sinner 00:41:08.83\00:41:10.40 because some very Godly men and woman 00:41:10.40\00:41:12.80 in the Bible suffer depression. 00:41:12.80\00:41:14.07 I think of Elijah, the great man of God, 00:41:14.07\00:41:16.50 the prophet of God after Mount Carmel. 00:41:16.50\00:41:18.41 He got so depressed, 00:41:18.41\00:41:19.41 he said, Lord, just let me die. 00:41:19.41\00:41:21.38 So, yes, but of course, 00:41:21.38\00:41:22.98 God sustained him and brought him through. 00:41:22.98\00:41:24.41 So, keep holding onto God. 00:41:24.41\00:41:25.78 Keep trusting him. 00:41:25.78\00:41:27.18 Do everything you can. 00:41:27.18\00:41:28.68 Look for medical help where needed. 00:41:28.68\00:41:30.72 But ultimately God is the great physician. 00:41:30.72\00:41:33.02 I'll hold onto him and keep trusting him. 00:41:33.02\00:41:35.16 - I just want to tell Malaura 00:41:35.16\00:41:36.52 that I used to suffer from depression too. 00:41:36.52\00:41:38.76 And there's one Bible verse that really helped me a lot. 00:41:38.76\00:41:41.73 It's Isaiah 26:3, says, 00:41:41.73\00:41:43.33 "You will keep him in perfect peace, 00:41:43.33\00:41:45.37 whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. 00:41:45.37\00:41:48.10 Trust in the Lord forever for the Yah, 00:41:48.10\00:41:50.04 The Lord, is everlasting strength. 00:41:50.04\00:41:51.94 So, take these Bible promises 00:41:51.94\00:41:53.71 and write 'em around the house, around your room. 00:41:53.71\00:41:55.68 And every time you feel depressed, 00:41:55.68\00:41:57.01 every time you feel like you don't wanna continue 00:41:57.01\00:41:59.78 or you feel overwhelmed, 00:41:59.78\00:42:01.25 look at those promises and hold on to them. 00:42:01.25\00:42:03.69 Pray to God. 00:42:03.69\00:42:04.52 - [Pastor Jëan] Absolutely. 00:42:04.52\00:42:05.65 - And ask him for victory over that. 00:42:05.65\00:42:08.49 And we know that the Lord wants 00:42:08.49\00:42:10.26 to give us a complete victory. 00:42:10.26\00:42:11.36 - That's right. 00:42:11.36\00:42:12.73 And never give up. Keep trust in the Lord. 00:42:12.73\00:42:14.10 Remember, the promise is that when Jesus comes, 00:42:14.10\00:42:16.03 these mortal bodies will receive immortality. 00:42:16.03\00:42:19.03 And we won't be struggling 00:42:19.03\00:42:20.14 with the same things that we have here 00:42:20.14\00:42:21.94 in these mortal bodies that we have now. 00:42:21.94\00:42:24.77 - Amen. 00:42:24.77\00:42:25.91 - So, we'll keep you in prayer, Malaura. 00:42:25.91\00:42:27.98 Who do we have next? 00:42:27.98\00:42:29.04 - Next, we have Lisa from Oklahoma. 00:42:29.04\00:42:30.88 Good evening, Lisa, you're on the air. 00:42:30.88\00:42:33.15 - [Lisa] Hi. 00:42:33.15\00:42:34.58 So, my question is, 00:42:34.58\00:42:35.88 looking at Abraham's example 00:42:37.72\00:42:41.46 of when God told him to take his son 00:42:41.46\00:42:43.22 and to sacrifice his son. 00:42:43.22\00:42:44.76 How did he know that that was God's voice 00:42:46.36\00:42:51.33 and that it wasn't a deception? 00:42:51.33\00:42:53.80 Cuz I mean, something like that is crazy. 00:42:53.80\00:42:56.00 And if something like that happened now, 00:42:56.00\00:42:57.31 he'd be put in jail for it. 00:42:57.31\00:42:58.54 But I mean, you know what I'm saying? 00:42:58.54\00:43:01.51 He had to have some reassurance 00:43:01.51\00:43:03.61 that this was something that was from God 00:43:03.61\00:43:06.28 and not, 00:43:06.28\00:43:07.15 - Yes. 00:43:07.15\00:43:08.28 - [Lisa] His crazy mind or. 00:43:08.28\00:43:09.68 - Yes, absolutely. 00:43:09.68\00:43:10.89 Well, several things. 00:43:10.89\00:43:11.72 First of all, he is, 00:43:11.72\00:43:13.05 remember this test didn't come to Abraham until he was, 00:43:13.05\00:43:15.52 you know, 120 years old. 00:43:15.52\00:43:18.33 So he had walked with the Lord for many years 00:43:18.33\00:43:21.40 and God spoke to him even to leave his home 00:43:21.40\00:43:24.67 and go to the Promised Land. 00:43:24.67\00:43:25.90 And there were many occasions 00:43:25.90\00:43:27.04 where God communicated with Abraham directly. 00:43:27.04\00:43:30.67 Abraham had a very special relationship with God. 00:43:30.67\00:43:33.54 So, when God told Abraham to take his son Isaac, 00:43:33.54\00:43:36.44 and to offer him as a sacrifice, 00:43:36.44\00:43:37.98 it was not just a impression that he had, 00:43:37.98\00:43:40.68 it wasn't just a thought that flashed into his mind. 00:43:40.68\00:43:43.18 It was very evident that this was God speaking to him. 00:43:43.18\00:43:46.99 It was clear, Abraham knew. 00:43:47.79\00:43:50.33 And I'm sure when Abraham received this message from God, 00:43:50.33\00:43:53.96 that he was to sacrifice his son, 00:43:53.96\00:43:55.43 I'm sure Abraham spent earnest hours in prayer. 00:43:55.43\00:43:58.57 You can only imagine how Abraham must have prayed 00:43:58.57\00:44:01.94 and prayed and said, Lord, please, are you sure? 00:44:01.94\00:44:04.51 Is this really what you want me to do? 00:44:04.51\00:44:07.24 And he trusted God to know that if he was misled, 00:44:07.24\00:44:10.81 God would reveal that to him. 00:44:10.81\00:44:13.15 And so until God would direct him elsewhere, 00:44:13.15\00:44:16.52 he was gonna be faithful and keep following 00:44:16.52\00:44:19.12 what God had told him to do. 00:44:19.12\00:44:21.16 And of course, throughout that whole experience, 00:44:21.16\00:44:22.79 he still believed that Isaac was to be resurrected. 00:44:22.79\00:44:25.59 He believed that even if he did sacrifice his son, 00:44:25.59\00:44:27.86 he would be resurrected from the dead 00:44:27.86\00:44:30.20 because he claimed the promise of God. 00:44:30.20\00:44:32.50 So, it wasn't presumption on Abraham's part 00:44:32.50\00:44:35.14 because he was always looking for a different way 00:44:35.14\00:44:37.91 that God might direct. 00:44:37.91\00:44:39.21 But he was saying, Lord, until you direct me otherwise, 00:44:39.21\00:44:41.71 I'm going to faithfully follow your instruction. 00:44:41.71\00:44:44.58 And I think in, Pastor Carlos, in the same way, 00:44:44.58\00:44:47.08 if God is asking us to do something and we are sincere 00:44:47.08\00:44:49.82 and we seek to know God's will, 00:44:49.82\00:44:51.69 we can trust that if we are being misled 00:44:51.69\00:44:54.16 and we are wanting to do what's right, 00:44:54.16\00:44:55.82 God will reveal that to us. 00:44:55.82\00:44:57.26 He'll make it clear to us and say, no, no, no, 00:44:57.26\00:44:59.39 that's not what I want you to do. 00:44:59.39\00:45:00.56 You're going down the wrong path. 00:45:00.56\00:45:01.76 - Amen. 00:45:01.76\00:45:03.10 - He'll make that very clear. 00:45:03.10\00:45:03.90 And that's kind of what Abraham, 00:45:03.90\00:45:05.27 I think, was looking for in that situation as well. 00:45:05.27\00:45:07.34 - Amen. 00:45:07.34\00:45:08.17 - Does that help Lisa? 00:45:08.17\00:45:09.37 - [Lisa] Yeah. Yeah, that makes sense. 00:45:10.47\00:45:13.07 - All right, very good. 00:45:13.07\00:45:14.41 Well, thanks for your call. 00:45:14.41\00:45:15.84 All right. Who do we have next? 00:45:16.64\00:45:18.01 - Next we have Ali calling from Newark, New Jersey. 00:45:18.01\00:45:21.58 Good evening, Ali, you are on the air. 00:45:21.58\00:45:23.92 - [Ali] Hey, pastor Ross. 00:45:23.92\00:45:24.99 Hey, pastor Carlos. 00:45:24.99\00:45:26.59 - Hello. 00:45:26.59\00:45:27.69 - [Ali] Thanks for taking my call. 00:45:27.69\00:45:28.69 My, can you hear me? 00:45:28.69\00:45:29.99 - Yeah, we can hear you. 00:45:29.99\00:45:31.59 - [Ali] Okay. Okay. Okay. 00:45:31.59\00:45:32.93 My question is, 00:45:32.93\00:45:34.56 how can we walk in a close fellowship with God and Jesus 00:45:34.56\00:45:38.70 like Enoch, Abraham and Noah 00:45:38.70\00:45:41.50 and all the other men of faith did, 00:45:41.50\00:45:43.94 and what does that look like on a day-to-day basis? 00:45:43.94\00:45:49.01 - Okay, good question. 00:45:49.68\00:45:51.08 Yes, practically, I think it begins in the morning. 00:45:51.08\00:45:53.65 You know, the very moment you awake in the morning, 00:45:53.65\00:45:56.65 the first thing to do 00:45:56.65\00:45:57.99 is to start your day by communing with God. 00:45:57.99\00:46:00.76 One of the things I do, 00:46:00.76\00:46:02.16 the first thought that comes to my head 00:46:02.16\00:46:03.76 when I wake up in the morning 00:46:03.76\00:46:05.66 is I want to thank the Lord for another day of life, 00:46:05.66\00:46:07.86 but I want to surrender my life to him. 00:46:07.86\00:46:09.66 And I say, Lord, today my life is your life. 00:46:09.66\00:46:12.53 I want to do those things that you want me to do. 00:46:12.53\00:46:15.24 I surrender my heart, I surrender my mind, 00:46:15.24\00:46:17.51 I surrender my entire being. 00:46:17.51\00:46:19.51 And then we need to spend time communing with God, 00:46:19.51\00:46:21.74 spend time in his words, spend time in prayer. 00:46:21.74\00:46:25.25 And then throughout the day we want to keep that open 00:46:25.25\00:46:27.68 communion with God, 00:46:27.68\00:46:29.05 that connection, where we don't just think of God 00:46:29.05\00:46:31.72 in the morning and maybe for a little bit in the evening 00:46:31.72\00:46:34.22 before we go to bed, 00:46:34.22\00:46:35.59 but throughout the day we are communing with God. 00:46:35.59\00:46:37.33 And that's what it means to walk with God. 00:46:37.33\00:46:38.93 It means to communicate with God, 00:46:38.93\00:46:40.46 to commune with God throughout the day. 00:46:40.46\00:46:42.93 You know, sometimes the Holy Spirit 00:46:42.93\00:46:44.30 will even convict us and say, man, 00:46:44.30\00:46:45.63 you're getting so busy on all these other things 00:46:45.63\00:46:47.40 that you haven't actually, you haven't communicated with me, 00:46:47.40\00:46:50.71 you haven't prayed, you haven't thought of me. 00:46:50.71\00:46:54.21 But if we're earnestly seeking to know God 00:46:54.21\00:46:57.18 and to be in harmony with him, 00:46:57.18\00:46:59.25 God will guide us into a deeper experience. 00:46:59.25\00:47:01.98 This doesn't happen overnight. 00:47:01.98\00:47:03.32 Remember Enoch was 300 plus years before he was translated, 00:47:03.32\00:47:06.96 Noah lived a long age. 00:47:06.96\00:47:08.16 Abraham was a faithful follower of God. 00:47:08.16\00:47:09.76 And so we can grow, 00:47:09.76\00:47:10.86 we can develop this closer union with God. 00:47:10.86\00:47:14.36 And that's the goal as a Christian 00:47:14.36\00:47:15.90 is to come as close to God as we can. 00:47:15.90\00:47:18.23 And I think also Pastor Carlos, 00:47:18.23\00:47:19.53 just recognizing the presence of God. 00:47:19.53\00:47:21.64 Sometimes we forget that God is here. 00:47:21.64\00:47:23.30 Jesus said, I'll never leave you nor forsake you, 00:47:23.30\00:47:24.97 the Holy Spirit is with us 00:47:24.97\00:47:26.54 and recognizing that, that God knows us, 00:47:26.54\00:47:28.94 He's concerned about us. 00:47:28.94\00:47:30.05 He wants to guide us in the big things in life 00:47:30.05\00:47:32.08 and the little things in life. 00:47:32.08\00:47:33.58 And recognizing that God is with us. 00:47:33.58\00:47:36.02 - Amen. 00:47:36.02\00:47:37.59 - All right, Ali, thanks for your call. 00:47:37.59\00:47:38.92 Hope that helps. 00:47:38.92\00:47:40.06 Who do we have next? 00:47:40.06\00:47:41.46 - Next we have Bobby from College Place, Washington. 00:47:41.46\00:47:44.93 - [Bobby] My question is regarding Genesis two, seven, 00:47:44.93\00:47:49.96 where it talks about 00:47:50.63\00:47:51.17 God breathing into man's nostrils 00:47:53.57\00:47:56.00 and man becoming a living soul. 00:47:56.00\00:47:57.87 But then sometimes people tell me, no, that's not right, 00:47:59.21\00:48:03.21 kind of thing. 00:48:03.21\00:48:04.51 And they refer me to First Thessalonians 5:23, 00:48:04.51\00:48:08.92 where it talks about your whole spirit, 00:48:08.92\00:48:12.39 soul and body being preserved. 00:48:12.39\00:48:14.82 So, is there some kind of contradiction there? 00:48:16.19\00:48:19.86 - Well, the word soul in the Bible 00:48:19.86\00:48:23.00 is used in different ways. 00:48:23.00\00:48:25.13 When you're reading in Genesis and it says, 00:48:25.13\00:48:26.90 God breathed into Adam the breath of life, 00:48:26.90\00:48:28.64 and Adam became a living soul. 00:48:28.64\00:48:30.41 Other translations, new King James is a living being. 00:48:30.41\00:48:33.84 So the word soul can refer to a living being an individual. 00:48:33.84\00:48:38.91 But there is also that essence of consciousness 00:48:40.02\00:48:42.62 that we have, our character, our personality, 00:48:42.62\00:48:45.92 sometimes in scripture that's referred to as spirit 00:48:45.92\00:48:49.16 or soul, sort of the inner part, our thoughts, our feelings. 00:48:49.16\00:48:54.20 And it's used interchangeably, 00:48:55.00\00:48:56.46 just like the word spirit 00:48:56.46\00:48:58.07 and breath is used interchangeably in scripture. 00:48:58.07\00:49:01.64 We even have examples of animal life 00:49:01.64\00:49:03.84 referred to in the Bible as every living soul 00:49:03.84\00:49:07.44 that was in the sea died. 00:49:07.44\00:49:08.71 And it's talking about the fish, 00:49:08.71\00:49:10.71 or every soul in the land date during the time of the flood. 00:49:10.71\00:49:13.01 So, the word soul has different meanings. 00:49:13.01\00:49:15.82 So yes, it does mean, just like the word spirit, 00:49:15.82\00:49:17.92 it can mean our entire being. 00:49:17.92\00:49:20.22 It talks about so many souls that may be perished 00:49:21.56\00:49:24.99 or so many souls that we need to battle 00:49:24.99\00:49:27.23 or so many souls in a nation or an army. 00:49:27.23\00:49:29.80 But the word soul can also refer to a person's consciousness 00:49:29.80\00:49:33.70 or their character or personality. 00:49:33.70\00:49:35.77 So, you gotta look at the context of the verse. 00:49:35.77\00:49:38.51 - [Bobby] Okay. 00:49:38.51\00:49:39.84 - But again, we're not saying that the soul is immortal. 00:49:39.84\00:49:42.34 And I guess that's the point of dispute 00:49:42.34\00:49:44.15 that some people have. 00:49:44.15\00:49:45.75 Some people believe that the soul cannot die. 00:49:45.75\00:49:48.15 Now, that's not biblical. 00:49:48.15\00:49:49.82 The Bible makes it clear that Adam became a living soul 00:49:49.82\00:49:52.59 when you had the breath of life combined with the body. 00:49:52.59\00:49:56.36 That's when we have a living being. 00:49:56.36\00:49:58.46 So the Bible doesn't speak of an immortal soul. 00:49:58.46\00:50:00.73 - [Bobby] And once the the breath goes bye-bye, 00:50:00.73\00:50:02.73 then there is no longer a soul. 00:50:02.73\00:50:04.50 - Correct. Yep. 00:50:04.50\00:50:05.60 At least in that sense of being a living being. 00:50:05.60\00:50:09.37 - All right. Well thank you. 00:50:09.37\00:50:10.67 - Thank you, Bobby. 00:50:10.67\00:50:11.51 Appreciate your call. 00:50:11.51\00:50:12.87 I think we have time for a few more call Pastor Carlos. 00:50:12.87\00:50:15.28 - We do. 00:50:15.28\00:50:16.11 - Who do we have next? 00:50:16.11\00:50:17.51 - All right, let's go with Samuel from New York City. 00:50:17.51\00:50:18.68 Samuel, you're on the air. 00:50:18.68\00:50:20.12 - [Samuel] Hey. Hello, Pastor Carlos. 00:50:20.12\00:50:22.42 Hello Pastor Ross. How you doing? 00:50:22.42\00:50:24.42 - Hello. 00:50:24.42\00:50:25.25 - Doing well. 00:50:25.25\00:50:26.32 - [Samuel] So, before I ask my question, 00:50:26.32\00:50:28.09 I just wanna fill you in on a little bit of background. 00:50:28.09\00:50:30.29 I'm just asking this question because a few years ago 00:50:30.29\00:50:34.03 I just got betrayed by the person that I love, 00:50:34.03\00:50:37.00 and just after that I just got a to a turning point 00:50:37.00\00:50:39.97 where I just, I was a Christian, 00:50:39.97\00:50:42.17 I was going to church and doing all the rituals, 00:50:42.17\00:50:45.64 but I kind of didn't notice God, 00:50:45.64\00:50:47.71 like, I didn't talk about God or read the Bible 00:50:47.71\00:50:50.31 or really pray. 00:50:50.31\00:50:52.11 But after that, I just got to a turning point. 00:50:52.11\00:50:53.82 I just turned myself in 00:50:53.82\00:50:55.62 and just think about him on a daily basis. 00:50:55.62\00:50:58.62 And now I'm reading the Bible from beginning to end, 00:50:58.62\00:51:01.99 I'm kind of going through it. 00:51:01.99\00:51:03.89 But recently, ever since I got to that turning point, 00:51:03.89\00:51:07.13 I just been falling through this just a single scene 00:51:07.13\00:51:11.17 where the person that I love 00:51:11.17\00:51:13.13 that just keeps falling on lots of scene 00:51:13.13\00:51:15.87 where I just keep falling. 00:51:15.87\00:51:17.24 I just keep falling onto my knees begging for forgiveness. 00:51:17.24\00:51:21.14 But the thing is just, I keep just doing it, 00:51:21.14\00:51:23.08 doing it and doing it. 00:51:23.08\00:51:24.95 And of course I got the memory of that person on Hebrew 10 00:51:24.95\00:51:29.12 that says, if we willingly keep sinning, 00:51:29.12\00:51:32.35 then there's no forgiveness for sin. 00:51:32.35\00:51:35.09 And of course, I know the interpretation of that verse, 00:51:35.09\00:51:38.29 which is if somebody goes out of the way 00:51:38.29\00:51:41.26 in just a full, living in full out sin, 00:51:41.26\00:51:44.57 I know the interpretation, 00:51:44.57\00:51:45.87 but I also know that it is better to be married 00:51:45.87\00:51:48.44 than burn with passion. 00:51:48.44\00:51:50.54 - So, 00:51:50.54\00:51:51.84 - [Samuel] But my question really is 00:51:51.84\00:51:53.27 that let's say I just died tomorrow, 00:51:53.27\00:51:55.68 but I just recognize God has taught of him, 00:51:55.68\00:51:58.98 and I read the Bible and I pray, 00:51:58.98\00:52:01.35 I just keep falling to this single sin. 00:52:01.35\00:52:03.45 Do you think God will deny me the entrance to the Kingdom? 00:52:03.45\00:52:06.55 - Okay, so the question then, 00:52:06.55\00:52:08.99 if I'm understanding correctly Samuel, 00:52:08.99\00:52:10.39 is what do we do if we're a believer 00:52:10.39\00:52:12.36 and we find ourselves struggling with a particular sin 00:52:12.36\00:52:15.00 and we keep stumbling over and over again? 00:52:15.00\00:52:17.43 Does this verse in Hebrews 10:26 apply? 00:52:17.43\00:52:20.30 Which says, "For if we sin willfully 00:52:20.30\00:52:22.34 after we receive a knowledge of the truth, 00:52:22.34\00:52:23.94 there is no longer a sacrifice for sins? 00:52:23.94\00:52:27.08 Well, you know, if that was the criteria, 00:52:27.08\00:52:28.74 I think all of us would be in trouble 00:52:28.74\00:52:30.21 because I don't know of one Christian 00:52:30.21\00:52:31.58 that has not stumbled over the same sin multiple times, 00:52:31.58\00:52:34.92 whether it be gossip or whether it be overeating 00:52:34.92\00:52:37.15 or whatever it might be. 00:52:37.15\00:52:38.65 The good news is that God is able to save, 00:52:39.75\00:52:42.09 he's able to save to the uttermost. 00:52:42.09\00:52:43.83 This verse is talking about an open, 00:52:43.83\00:52:45.99 high-handed rebellion against God. 00:52:45.99\00:52:49.16 That's when a person gets to the point 00:52:49.16\00:52:51.00 where they don't ask for forgiveness, 00:52:51.00\00:52:53.17 where they begin to make excuses for sin, 00:52:53.17\00:52:55.77 excusing sin in their life, 00:52:55.77\00:52:57.81 or saying that it's not really sin 00:52:57.81\00:52:59.51 or that it doesn't matter. 00:52:59.51\00:53:01.01 That's a dangerous thing. 00:53:01.01\00:53:02.64 But if we recognize that what we are doing 00:53:02.64\00:53:05.08 or what we have done is wrong 00:53:05.08\00:53:06.78 and it's a violation of God's commandments, 00:53:06.78\00:53:08.98 and we sincerely ask for forgiveness, 00:53:08.98\00:53:11.02 the Bible promises us that if we confess our sin, 00:53:11.02\00:53:13.49 he's faithful and just to forgive us 00:53:13.49\00:53:15.52 and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 00:53:15.52\00:53:18.16 We also need to recognize that not only does God want to 00:53:18.16\00:53:20.56 forgive us, but he wants to empower us. 00:53:20.56\00:53:22.66 He wants to enable us to live a victorious Christian life. 00:53:22.66\00:53:26.63 How do we gain the victory over sin? 00:53:26.63\00:53:29.14 We have to claim the promises found in the Bible. 00:53:29.14\00:53:32.37 That's how Jesus overcame sin 00:53:32.37\00:53:33.98 and that's the example that he has set for us. 00:53:33.98\00:53:36.58 Jesus said, man shall not live by bread alone, 00:53:36.58\00:53:38.78 but by every word that precedes out of the mouth of God. 00:53:38.78\00:53:42.22 When we face temptation, 00:53:42.22\00:53:43.85 the thing we must do right away, 00:53:43.85\00:53:45.55 before that temptation becomes overwhelming, 00:53:45.55\00:53:48.86 we need to turn to the Lord, 00:53:48.86\00:53:50.19 pray right then and there and say, Lord, please help me. 00:53:50.19\00:53:53.43 Give me the victory. 00:53:53.43\00:53:54.83 Just like Peter, 00:53:54.83\00:53:55.90 when he began to sink in the water 00:53:55.90\00:53:57.37 and all he could do is was lift up his hand 00:53:57.37\00:53:58.77 and say, Lord, save me. 00:53:58.77\00:54:00.20 Sometimes that's all we can do is say, 00:54:00.20\00:54:01.90 Lord, please save me. 00:54:01.90\00:54:03.00 And then start quoting promises from the Bible. 00:54:03.00\00:54:07.01 You know, I don't know of anyone 00:54:07.01\00:54:08.54 that's able to sin while they're quoting Bible promises 00:54:08.54\00:54:12.55 and they're on their knees praying, asking for deliverance. 00:54:12.55\00:54:15.35 God will provide that strength. 00:54:15.35\00:54:16.92 It's when we don't take advantage 00:54:16.92\00:54:18.45 of the power that God wants to give us, 00:54:18.45\00:54:20.66 that we stumble and fall into sin. 00:54:20.66\00:54:22.72 You know, we have a book, 00:54:22.72\00:54:23.83 it's called Tips for Resisting Temptation, 00:54:23.83\00:54:25.73 and gives a step-by-step guide on how we can live a 00:54:25.73\00:54:28.40 victorious Christian life. 00:54:28.40\00:54:29.50 How we can overcome those besetting sins, 00:54:29.50\00:54:32.57 whatever they might be, 00:54:32.57\00:54:33.70 in each person, it's a little different. 00:54:33.70\00:54:35.74 If you'd like to receive that book for anyone wanting to 00:54:35.74\00:54:38.24 live a victorious Christian life, 00:54:38.24\00:54:39.37 the number to call is (800) 835-6747, 00:54:39.37\00:54:43.88 and you can just ask for the book. 00:54:43.88\00:54:45.01 It's called, Tips for Resisting Temptation. 00:54:45.01\00:54:47.48 We'll be happy to send that to anyone here in North America. 00:54:47.48\00:54:50.19 If you're outside of North America, 00:54:50.19\00:54:51.89 you can read the book for free 00:54:51.89\00:54:53.29 by going to the Amazing Facts website. 00:54:53.29\00:54:56.29 Now, for those who are listening on the radio, 00:54:56.29\00:54:58.29 some of you will be tuning off, those on satellite. 00:54:58.29\00:55:00.60 But for those who are listening online 00:55:00.60\00:55:02.13 or at Amazing Facts TV, stay tuned. 00:55:02.13\00:55:04.50 We have a special bonus question that is coming right up. 00:55:04.50\00:55:08.14 (inspirational music) 00:55:08.14\00:55:10.74 - [Announcer] Thank you for listening to today's broadcast. 00:55:10.74\00:55:13.24 We hope you understand your Bible even better than before. 00:55:13.24\00:55:16.95 Bible Answers Live is produced 00:55:16.95\00:55:18.81 by Amazing Facts International, 00:55:18.81\00:55:21.08 a faith-based ministry located in Granite Bay, California. 00:55:21.08\00:55:25.29 - Hello friends. 00:55:26.62\00:55:27.72 Welcome back to our special bonus feature 00:55:27.72\00:55:29.32 of Bible Answers Live, something new that'll we're doing. 00:55:29.32\00:55:32.16 In the next few minutes, 00:55:32.16\00:55:33.29 we are gonna be taking some of the questions 00:55:33.29\00:55:34.63 that folks have emailed to us. 00:55:34.63\00:55:37.10 If you have a Bible question 00:55:37.10\00:55:38.57 that you'd like to have us answer on the air 00:55:38.57\00:55:41.30 that you'd like to email, instead of calling in, 00:55:41.30\00:55:43.91 we have an email address and Pastor Carlos, 00:55:43.91\00:55:45.64 you've got it right there. 00:55:45.64\00:55:46.44 What's that email address? 00:55:46.44\00:55:47.44 - It's BALquestions@amazingfacts.org. 00:55:47.44\00:55:51.91 B A L, as in Bible Answers Live. 00:55:51.91\00:55:54.35 BALquestions@amazingfacts.org. 00:55:54.35\00:55:59.42 - All right, excellent. 00:56:00.16\00:56:00.96 So if you have a Bible question, 00:56:00.96\00:56:01.76 be sure to email that to us 00:56:01.76\00:56:03.56 if that's gonna be better than calling in. 00:56:03.56\00:56:05.93 Well, Pastor Carlos, who do we have for tonight? 00:56:05.93\00:56:07.96 - We have two questions here. 00:56:07.96\00:56:09.33 The first one is from Derek Brown. 00:56:09.33\00:56:11.03 Is everybody called to be a minister 00:56:11.03\00:56:12.83 or to go into ministry? 00:56:12.83\00:56:14.20 - [Pastor Jëan] Is everyone called to be a minister? 00:56:14.20\00:56:15.27 No, not everyone is called to be a minister 00:56:15.27\00:56:17.34 because we know that there are different gifts 00:56:17.34\00:56:19.51 of the spirit. 00:56:19.51\00:56:20.88 So God has given some to be teachers and preachers 00:56:20.88\00:56:23.75 and evangelists, some administrative skills, 00:56:23.75\00:56:26.65 some to be helpers and helping with different areas 00:56:26.65\00:56:29.38 or caring for others. 00:56:29.38\00:56:30.82 Some have the gift of languages, 00:56:30.82\00:56:32.32 so each person has a different gift. 00:56:32.32\00:56:34.29 But are we all to be sharers of the love of Christ? 00:56:34.29\00:56:38.19 Absolutely. 00:56:38.19\00:56:39.29 So in one sense, we're all to be missionaries, 00:56:39.29\00:56:41.00 not all ministers, meaning that we're pastors, 00:56:41.00\00:56:44.00 but we should all be looking 00:56:44.00\00:56:45.07 for opportunities to share the love of Jesus, 00:56:45.07\00:56:47.57 and especially with those 00:56:47.57\00:56:48.84 who have never experienced the love of Christ 00:56:48.84\00:56:50.61 or who are not Christians. 00:56:50.61\00:56:51.94 Now, there might be a family member, a neighbor, 00:56:51.94\00:56:53.84 maybe a colleague. 00:56:53.84\00:56:54.98 So yes, all of us have a part to do 00:56:54.98\00:56:56.34 in trying to share the good news of salvation with others. 00:56:56.34\00:56:59.91 - Amen. 00:56:59.91\00:57:01.38 The next question is from James from Massachusetts. 00:57:01.38\00:57:03.72 He says, I heard in heaven 00:57:03.72\00:57:04.82 we will still grow every million years, 00:57:04.82\00:57:07.62 and my question is, will we ever get old in heaven. 00:57:07.62\00:57:12.13 - Oh, will we ever get old in heaven? 00:57:12.13\00:57:13.70 Well, there is probably an age, a perfect age, 00:57:13.70\00:57:16.70 whatever that might be that we think of here on earth. 00:57:16.70\00:57:19.37 I don't know, maybe it's 30, 00:57:19.37\00:57:21.00 - 27. 00:57:21.00\00:57:22.34 - 40, 27, whatever it might be that perfect age. 00:57:22.34\00:57:24.61 For those who are under that perfect age, 00:57:24.61\00:57:26.91 whatever that might be, 00:57:26.91\00:57:28.04 there will be some growth in heaven, 00:57:28.04\00:57:29.41 but we ultimately will be what God is purpose for us to be 00:57:29.41\00:57:33.65 throughout all eternity. 00:57:33.65\00:57:34.92 We know in heaven children will grow up, 00:57:34.92\00:57:36.95 cuz the Bible does speak of children being in heaven. 00:57:36.95\00:57:39.25 But they will grow up and eventually, 00:57:39.25\00:57:42.49 it's kind of a sad thought, 00:57:42.49\00:57:44.06 even though they won't be sadness in heaven. 00:57:44.06\00:57:45.63 But the children will grow up 00:57:45.63\00:57:47.20 and you won't get old in the sense of what old is here. 00:57:47.20\00:57:52.03 Of course, we have all eternity 00:57:52.03\00:57:53.57 to get to know Christ even more 00:57:53.57\00:57:55.70 and those who are saved and be in the earth made new. 00:57:55.70\00:57:59.24 So, thank you friends for your calls 00:57:59.24\00:58:01.11 and the emails that you sent. 00:58:01.11\00:58:02.81 Again, we wanna remind you that Bible Answers Live 00:58:02.81\00:58:05.31 is on the air because of your support. 00:58:05.31\00:58:08.62 So, thank you for your faith, for giving to Amazing Facts 00:58:08.62\00:58:11.89 to help keep Bible Answers on the air. 00:58:11.89\00:58:13.29 We look forward to meeting with you again next week. 00:58:13.29\00:58:15.42 Until then, God bless. 00:58:15.42\00:58:17.59 (inspirational music) 00:58:17.59\00:58:19.26 - [Announcer] Bible Answers, Live, 00:58:19.26\00:58:20.60 honest and accurate answers to your Bible questions. 00:58:20.60\00:58:24.10
