Hi, Kids. 00:00:11.21\00:00:12.54 You want to hear an amazing fact. 00:00:12.57\00:00:14.28 Humming birds are some of the most 00:00:14.31\00:00:15.64 incredible creatures that God has made. 00:00:15.68\00:00:17.81 They are beautiful. 00:00:17.85\00:00:19.18 They come in virtually every color of the rainbow. 00:00:19.21\00:00:22.02 There are some bigger ones, but they have got 00:00:22.05\00:00:23.55 some hummingbirds in Cuba, they are like a bee. 00:00:23.59\00:00:26.45 No bigger than a pinto bean 00:00:26.49\00:00:28.09 with wings and they fly very quickly. 00:00:28.12\00:00:31.29 A hummingbird beats its wings 70 times a second. 00:00:31.33\00:00:35.03 And they can do incredible acrobatic maneuvers. 00:00:35.06\00:00:37.57 They are so fast, they can terrorize birds 00:00:37.60\00:00:39.90 much bigger than themselves. 00:00:39.93\00:00:41.57 The reason they have so much energy 00:00:41.60\00:00:43.41 is they have to feed very frequently on nectar. 00:00:43.44\00:00:46.21 Every 10 or 15 minutes, they need to eat 00:00:46.24\00:00:48.51 to keep up their metabolism. 00:00:48.54\00:00:50.28 If you and I eat as many calories 00:00:50.31\00:00:52.45 as the hummingbird eats, 00:00:52.48\00:00:53.98 well, that'd be about 155,000 calories a day, 00:00:54.02\00:00:58.22 about 50 pounds of sugar per person. 00:00:58.25\00:01:01.22 They need to do this to keep their energy level up. 00:01:01.26\00:01:04.89 So something very interesting happens 00:01:04.93\00:01:06.80 to a number of the hummingbirds 00:01:06.83\00:01:08.16 that live in the southwest around Texas. 00:01:08.20\00:01:10.53 Once a year, instead of eating every 5 or 10 seconds, 00:01:10.57\00:01:13.80 they eat almost constantly trying to store up 00:01:13.84\00:01:16.64 and tank up on the nectar, because they then make 00:01:16.67\00:01:19.81 a 500-mile epic migration across the Gulf of Mexico. 00:01:19.84\00:01:24.95 They know they can't stop and feed along the way. 00:01:24.98\00:01:27.12 So they store up 00:01:27.15\00:01:28.48 all of the calories and strength 00:01:28.52\00:01:29.85 that they can to get to a virtual paradise 00:01:29.88\00:01:32.25 they find in the YucatA!n Peninsula, 00:01:32.29\00:01:34.19 where they vacation, 00:01:34.22\00:01:35.56 and they grow more little hummingbirds. 00:01:35.59\00:01:37.89 So kids, in the same way 00:01:37.93\00:01:39.29 that the hummingbird stores up nectar 00:01:39.33\00:01:41.16 to take this epic journey across the sea, 00:01:41.20\00:01:43.60 you and I need to store up on the Word of God 00:01:43.63\00:01:45.80 to prepare for the last days. 00:01:45.83\00:01:47.47 We're gonna teach you how. 00:01:47.50\00:01:48.84 So come onboard and join us now for an amazing adventure. 00:01:48.87\00:01:52.24 Good evening, boys and girls, 00:02:11.33\00:02:12.86 and welcome to Amazing Adventure, 00:02:12.89\00:02:15.70 A Journey for Life with Jesus. 00:02:15.73\00:02:17.70 We are so glad 00:02:17.73\00:02:19.07 to see you all here in Michigan, 00:02:19.10\00:02:20.44 but also like to welcome those who are joining us 00:02:20.47\00:02:22.30 across the country and around the world 00:02:22.34\00:02:24.41 for this very exciting adventure 00:02:24.44\00:02:27.08 into the truths of God's Word. 00:02:27.11\00:02:29.38 My name is Jean Ross, and I'll be your host 00:02:29.41\00:02:31.61 for this special discovery mission 00:02:31.65\00:02:34.22 that we're gonna be embarking on in just a few moments. 00:02:34.25\00:02:36.99 Now, as you notice here on stage, 00:02:37.02\00:02:38.79 the theme for this adventure 00:02:38.82\00:02:40.22 has something to do with sailing, 00:02:40.26\00:02:42.29 it has to do with voyage, it has to do with discovery. 00:02:42.32\00:02:45.29 And I think those who built the set did a fantastic job. 00:02:45.33\00:02:48.10 It looks great. 00:02:48.13\00:02:49.46 You know, the Bible has a lot to say about voyages, 00:02:49.50\00:02:52.17 talks about boats, talks about ships. 00:02:52.20\00:02:54.80 And so you'll find out how that fits into our theme 00:02:54.84\00:02:57.81 that we're gonna be talking about on this adventure. 00:02:57.84\00:03:00.58 But if we're gonna hit out on a voyage, 00:03:00.61\00:03:03.91 we need to have our first officer, 00:03:03.95\00:03:06.41 who's gonna be at the wheel guiding us 00:03:06.45\00:03:08.42 through this adventure. 00:03:08.45\00:03:09.78 And I'm so glad that Pastor Doug Batchelor 00:03:09.82\00:03:12.05 is going to be here and he's gonna lead us 00:03:12.09\00:03:14.52 in our Bible discovery. 00:03:14.56\00:03:16.42 So I'd like to invite our first officer, 00:03:16.46\00:03:18.29 Pastor Doug to come on stage. 00:03:18.33\00:03:19.83 Hello, boys and girls. 00:03:25.33\00:03:27.24 We are gonna have some fun. 00:03:27.27\00:03:28.77 Of course, I've got my lieutenant officer 00:03:28.80\00:03:30.57 here Pastor Ross, Captain Ross. 00:03:30.61\00:03:33.24 I put on my hat, Pastor Doug. 00:03:33.27\00:03:34.61 We're ready for the voyage. All right. 00:05:41.70\00:05:46.64 Now, Pastor Doug, we've got some folks 00:05:46.68\00:05:48.64 who are watching us live, but then we also had 00:05:48.68\00:05:50.85 those who sent in some Bible questions, 00:05:50.88\00:05:53.15 some video Bible questions, 00:05:53.18\00:05:54.98 and we had kids ask their question 00:05:55.02\00:05:57.09 from literally all over the place. 00:05:57.12\00:05:59.05 I know from India, we had some questions, 00:05:59.09\00:06:01.06 some from the Philippines. 00:06:01.09\00:06:02.72 So we're gonna take a few moments right now 00:06:02.76\00:06:04.76 to answer some of the questions that have come in 00:06:04.79\00:06:07.43 from around the world. 00:06:07.46\00:06:08.96 So we're ready to look at our first question. 00:06:09.00\00:06:11.93 Hello, my name is Ona, I am 11 years old 00:06:11.97\00:06:14.67 and I'm from Ypsilanti, North Dakota. 00:06:14.70\00:06:17.17 My Bible question is, "When did dinosaurs 00:06:17.21\00:06:19.91 go extinct and why?" 00:06:19.94\00:06:21.54 All right. All right. 00:06:21.58\00:06:22.91 When did the dinosaurs become extinct and why? 00:06:22.94\00:06:26.11 You know, whenever we say dinosaurs, 00:06:26.15\00:06:27.65 we're always thinking about just the real big lizards, 00:06:27.68\00:06:30.59 but there are all kinds of prehistoric animals 00:06:30.62\00:06:34.06 that don't exist anymore. 00:06:34.09\00:06:36.06 We know that God told Noah 00:06:36.09\00:06:37.69 to take two of every creature on the ark and Noah obeyed. 00:06:37.73\00:06:42.03 But from the time of the flood until the present, 00:06:42.06\00:06:44.63 a lot of animals have either died 00:06:44.67\00:06:47.04 from the environment, or the environment change, 00:06:47.07\00:06:50.51 or they were hunted into extinction. 00:06:50.54\00:06:52.34 Bible talks about a man named Nimrod, 00:06:52.37\00:06:54.71 who was a mighty hunter, and you don't get 00:06:54.74\00:06:56.85 the title mighty hunter because you kill mice. 00:06:56.88\00:06:59.61 He was probably killing some big creatures 00:06:59.65\00:07:01.92 and maybe he helped kill off 00:07:01.95\00:07:03.69 some of the first few dinosaurs. 00:07:03.72\00:07:05.85 And someone's gonna ask, 00:07:05.89\00:07:07.22 "How did they get dinosaurs on the Ark?" 00:07:07.26\00:07:09.09 Well, Noah wasn't told he had to take 00:07:09.12\00:07:10.93 full grown dinosaurs. 00:07:10.96\00:07:12.29 He could have taken itty bitty ones. 00:07:12.33\00:07:13.76 He could have taken two eggs, I don't know. 00:07:13.80\00:07:16.00 But eventually, 00:07:16.03\00:07:18.07 some of these great mammals and reptiles, 00:07:18.10\00:07:22.07 the dinosaurs were extinct, 00:07:22.10\00:07:24.14 probably shortly after the flood. 00:07:24.17\00:07:27.04 All right. Thank you, Pastor Doug. 00:07:27.08\00:07:28.41 I think we have another Bible question 00:07:28.44\00:07:29.98 that's coming in. 00:07:30.01\00:07:31.35 Hi, my name is Eliah and I'm 12 years old, 00:07:31.38\00:07:33.88 and I'm from California. 00:07:33.92\00:07:35.38 And my question is, 00:07:35.42\00:07:36.75 "How do we differentiate the difference 00:07:36.79\00:07:38.12 from good angels from bad angels?" 00:07:38.15\00:07:40.52 Well, good angels are always going to impress and guide you 00:07:40.56\00:07:44.03 in doing those things that correspond with the Bible. 00:07:44.06\00:07:48.46 A bad angel is not gonna be wanting you 00:07:48.50\00:07:50.63 to follow God's Word. 00:07:50.67\00:07:52.00 The bad angels are gonna try 00:07:52.03\00:07:53.37 and get you to do the bad things. 00:07:53.40\00:07:54.74 Good angels are always gonna try 00:07:54.77\00:07:56.34 to get you to follow the Word of God 00:07:56.37\00:07:58.77 led by the Holy Spirit. 00:07:58.81\00:08:00.68 All right, we got one more question 00:08:00.71\00:08:02.04 that we're gonna be looking at. 00:08:02.08\00:08:03.41 Hey, my name is Elsa, and I'm from Idaho. 00:08:03.45\00:08:06.35 I'm nine years old, and my question is, 00:08:06.38\00:08:08.22 "Why does God allow trials to come upon Christians?" 00:08:08.25\00:08:12.19 Well, the Bible talks about a man named Job, 00:08:12.22\00:08:15.32 and it tells us that 00:08:15.36\00:08:16.69 he was a good and a perfect man, 00:08:16.73\00:08:18.56 but the Lord even allowed the devil 00:08:18.59\00:08:20.70 to bring some temptations and trials on Job. 00:08:20.73\00:08:23.97 Peter tells us that, 00:08:24.00\00:08:25.33 "Our faith grows through fiery trials." 00:08:25.37\00:08:28.57 Faith is like a muscle. 00:08:28.60\00:08:30.27 Muscles don't get strong 00:08:30.31\00:08:31.77 unless you're actually lifting something 00:08:31.81\00:08:33.71 or holding something, 00:08:33.74\00:08:35.18 and the heavier the weights, the stronger the muscles. 00:08:35.21\00:08:37.85 And as you go through trials, if you want to learn patience, 00:08:37.88\00:08:41.72 you're gonna go through trials that test your patience 00:08:41.75\00:08:43.89 and you become a very patient person. 00:08:43.92\00:08:46.22 If you're gonna want to learn love, 00:08:46.25\00:08:47.59 sometimes you'll be around some unloving people, 00:08:47.62\00:08:50.19 and that's when you learn to love. 00:08:50.23\00:08:51.96 And so the Lord helps us develop the characteristics 00:08:51.99\00:08:54.46 like Jesus as we go through the different tests and trials. 00:08:54.50\00:08:58.30 Well, Pastor Doug, tonight is a very important lesson, 00:08:58.33\00:09:00.74 kind of an exciting one. 00:09:00.77\00:09:02.10 It's called, The Treasure Map, and it kinda gets our bearings 00:09:02.14\00:09:05.34 as we head off on this adventure. 00:09:05.37\00:09:07.41 So we'll turn the time over to you. 00:09:07.44\00:09:08.78 Amen. 00:09:08.81\00:09:10.15 Thank you, Pastor Ross, and I want to welcome you 00:09:10.18\00:09:11.51 again young people 00:09:11.55\00:09:12.88 that have come to this special program, 00:09:12.91\00:09:14.48 and those who are watching on television. 00:09:14.52\00:09:17.15 This is the first in a series on Amazing Adventure series, 00:09:17.19\00:09:20.02 we're gonna take this our ship, the HMS Adventure, 00:09:20.06\00:09:22.82 HMS means His Majesty Service. 00:09:22.86\00:09:25.96 And we're gonna go on an adventure talking about 00:09:25.99\00:09:27.76 what the real purpose of life is. 00:09:27.80\00:09:29.83 We got any adventurers out there with us? 00:09:29.86\00:09:31.90 I'm gonna be taking volunteers 00:09:31.93\00:09:33.64 during the program to come up here 00:09:33.67\00:09:35.77 and do some different things with me. 00:09:35.80\00:09:37.67 And so I'm just giving you a little heads up, so you know. 00:09:37.71\00:09:40.68 We'll be following a series of lessons 00:09:40.71\00:09:42.88 and tonight's lesson is dealing with The Treasure Map. 00:09:42.91\00:09:46.68 Now, have any of you ever seen a real treasure map? 00:09:46.72\00:09:49.78 Yes. 00:09:49.82\00:09:51.52 You know, a lot of people thought 00:09:51.55\00:09:52.89 they had treasure maps, 00:09:52.92\00:09:54.59 some probably drew maps and maybe they lost them. 00:09:54.62\00:09:58.09 There have been some people that found maps 00:09:58.13\00:10:00.23 where ships went down in the ocean. 00:10:00.26\00:10:02.50 They knew the longitude and the latitude, the position. 00:10:02.53\00:10:05.63 And from that map, they were able to dive down 00:10:05.67\00:10:08.34 and eventually find those ships, 00:10:08.37\00:10:10.14 some of them loaded with gold. 00:10:10.17\00:10:13.34 One called The California off of South Americans 00:10:13.38\00:10:16.95 and several off of the Florida Keys, 00:10:16.98\00:10:19.11 they found treasure down there. 00:10:19.15\00:10:21.18 And other people have looked for treasures in the hills. 00:10:21.22\00:10:24.35 But the real treasure we're talking about tonight 00:10:24.39\00:10:27.22 is in the Word of God. 00:10:27.26\00:10:29.02 I remember hearing an amazing fact 00:10:29.06\00:10:30.39 a few years ago. 00:10:30.43\00:10:31.76 In 1992, a man near Sussex, England 00:10:31.79\00:10:35.83 lost a hammer in a friend's field. 00:10:35.86\00:10:38.67 He knew his friend, you know, 00:10:38.70\00:10:40.64 a buddy that had a metal detector, 00:10:40.67\00:10:42.00 you know what those are. 00:10:42.04\00:10:43.37 You put on the headphones, you walk around, 00:10:43.41\00:10:45.01 and it beeps and when you find metal, 00:10:45.04\00:10:46.98 it goes beep, beep, beep and otherwise, 00:10:47.01\00:10:48.61 it's like, boo, boo, boo. 00:10:48.64\00:10:50.55 Then you find the metal, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep. 00:10:50.58\00:10:53.11 And he thought I'll get my friend 00:10:53.15\00:10:54.62 with his metal detector, we'll find my missing hammer. 00:10:54.65\00:10:57.95 So he went out there and he started looking around, 00:10:57.99\00:11:00.62 and you know what he found? 00:11:00.66\00:11:02.42 He found one of the largest hoards, 00:11:02.46\00:11:05.09 a gold find called the Hoxne Hoard. 00:11:05.13\00:11:08.46 It had 14,000 coins of gold, 00:11:08.50\00:11:13.17 silver, and copper. 00:11:13.20\00:11:15.10 From the time of the Romans, it had bracelets 00:11:15.14\00:11:18.24 and millions of dollars worth of treasure over $3 million. 00:11:18.27\00:11:22.44 They don't know how to price it 00:11:22.48\00:11:23.81 because as artwork, it's priceless. 00:11:23.85\00:11:26.51 But in weight, it was over $3 million of gold, 00:11:26.55\00:11:29.85 and silver, and copper. 00:11:29.88\00:11:31.55 Somebody had buried their treasure in the field, 00:11:31.59\00:11:34.06 and they probably made a map and then they got arrested, 00:11:34.09\00:11:37.69 or put in prison, or they died, or got taken away. 00:11:37.73\00:11:41.20 And they never came back for their treasure. 00:11:41.23\00:11:43.63 And you know, the good part of the story is, 00:11:43.67\00:11:46.20 the man also found his hammer too. 00:11:46.23\00:11:49.00 So he found his hammer 00:11:49.04\00:11:50.37 and they found this incredible treasure, 00:11:50.41\00:11:52.61 so people do sometimes find treasure. 00:11:52.64\00:11:55.21 The biggest treasure is the Word of God. 00:11:55.24\00:11:58.55 I want to tell you a story, true story about a boy 00:11:58.58\00:12:02.15 who is taking care of some sheep back in 1948. 00:12:02.18\00:12:05.89 And we were just there a few months ago 00:12:05.92\00:12:08.49 in Israel by the Dead Sea. 00:12:08.52\00:12:10.79 And the boy was looking for some missing goats. 00:12:10.83\00:12:12.49 And he was out there 00:12:12.53\00:12:13.86 and it was hot and he was bored, 00:12:13.90\00:12:15.23 and so he picked up a rock 00:12:15.26\00:12:16.97 and he saw some holes up on the hillside 00:12:17.00\00:12:19.20 and he threw a rock, 00:12:19.23\00:12:20.57 and he used to see if I wonder if, you know, like a pitcher. 00:12:20.60\00:12:22.24 I wonder if I can get that rock inside that hole 00:12:22.27\00:12:24.24 and he threw a rock in there 00:12:24.27\00:12:25.61 and then he threw a rock in there, 00:12:25.64\00:12:26.98 but when he threw a rock in one of the holes, 00:12:27.01\00:12:30.81 something happened. 00:12:30.85\00:12:32.21 I need a volunteer. 00:12:32.25\00:12:34.62 Okay, you're close to the edge and you were first, 00:12:34.65\00:12:37.49 so why don't you come on up here. 00:12:37.52\00:12:40.96 All right. 00:12:40.99\00:12:43.36 Let's see if we can locate our... 00:12:43.39\00:12:46.13 I got so many treasures here. 00:12:46.16\00:12:47.50 Oh, why don't you look in the treasure chest? 00:12:47.53\00:12:49.16 See if you can find a pot. 00:12:49.20\00:12:51.40 This is the legal kind of pot we're talking about here. 00:12:51.43\00:12:55.17 Look around. There you go. 00:12:55.20\00:12:57.61 Grab the whole thing. Okay. 00:12:57.64\00:12:59.67 You can put that down. And what was your name? 00:12:59.71\00:13:01.38 Samuel. Samuel, good Bible name. 00:13:01.41\00:13:05.75 You reach in here and see if you can find some rocks. 00:13:05.78\00:13:10.85 Find a big one. Yeah. 00:13:17.33\00:13:20.30 Now, drop the rock on the wood. 00:13:20.33\00:13:24.53 Okay, now drop the rock on the pot. 00:13:24.57\00:13:30.37 Did that sounds a little different? 00:13:30.41\00:13:32.47 You gotta buy me a new pot, now. 00:13:32.51\00:13:33.84 I didn't tell you about that part of the story. 00:13:33.88\00:13:37.65 The boy, when he threw the rock, 00:13:37.68\00:13:40.38 when it hit dirt, it doesn't make a sound, 00:13:40.42\00:13:42.28 but it went... 00:13:42.32\00:13:44.19 And he said, "What is that?" 00:13:44.22\00:13:46.72 Let's give Samuel a hand. 00:13:46.76\00:13:48.09 Thank him very much for his help. 00:13:48.12\00:13:49.46 You get to keep the bag of rocks. 00:13:49.49\00:13:51.89 He heard that sound. 00:15:56.89\00:15:58.65 But what does the Bible say about itself, 00:15:58.69\00:16:00.86 "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, 00:16:00.89\00:16:04.03 and is profitable." 00:16:04.06\00:16:05.39 This is not the words of men. 00:16:05.43\00:16:06.90 The Bible is not just black ink on white paper. 00:16:06.93\00:16:10.37 These are supernatural and powerful words 00:16:10.40\00:16:13.13 that will change your life. 00:16:13.17\00:16:15.00 It could change hearts too. 00:16:15.04\00:16:17.11 Now the original Bibles were written on papyrus. 00:16:17.14\00:16:20.78 God wrote the Ten Commandments on stone. 00:16:20.81\00:16:23.61 And then about 1500, a man named Gutenberg 00:16:23.65\00:16:26.45 invented who knows what? 00:16:26.48\00:16:28.62 The printing press and they used to have to write 00:16:28.65\00:16:32.22 their Bibles out by hand. 00:16:32.25\00:16:33.59 All of a sudden Bibles began to go 00:16:33.62\00:16:35.72 like crazy all around the world. 00:16:35.76\00:16:38.23 And there was a great revival. 00:16:38.26\00:16:40.16 This is a picture 00:16:40.20\00:16:41.53 of the Gutenberg printing press. 00:16:41.56\00:16:43.77 And, you know, someone bought in 1992, 00:16:43.80\00:16:47.07 a Gutenberg Bible, 00:16:47.10\00:16:49.04 and they paid $3 million for a Bible, 00:16:49.07\00:16:52.74 because it was one of the first printed Bibles. 00:16:52.77\00:16:55.68 And so people recognize 00:16:55.71\00:16:57.15 that this is a great treasure in the Bible. 00:16:57.18\00:17:00.98 You know, whenever you go to court, 00:17:01.02\00:17:02.45 sometimes they tell you to take a vow, 00:17:02.48\00:17:05.09 you take an oath. 00:17:05.12\00:17:06.45 They put their right hand on the Bible. 00:17:06.49\00:17:08.56 When a new president is inaugurated, 00:17:08.59\00:17:11.03 he takes his oath of office. 00:17:11.06\00:17:12.89 He puts his hand on the Bible. 00:17:12.93\00:17:15.30 George Washington did that too and at the end, he said, 00:17:15.33\00:17:17.73 "So help me God." 00:17:17.77\00:17:20.27 Great people through history have known that 00:17:20.30\00:17:22.10 this is not an ordinary book. 00:17:22.14\00:17:24.07 This is a book that helps us find our way to heaven. 00:17:24.11\00:17:27.04 It is the great treasure map. 00:17:27.08\00:17:31.01 Some of you have smartphones. 00:17:31.05\00:17:33.85 I got a smartphone that's smarter than me. 00:17:33.88\00:17:36.55 When I come from the hotel, 00:17:36.58\00:17:38.55 my hotel is back through the country 00:17:38.59\00:17:40.09 and if it wasn't for my GPS, I would get lost. 00:17:40.12\00:17:43.32 I'm so thankful now, for these smartphones. 00:17:43.36\00:17:45.76 I used to look at maps. 00:17:45.79\00:17:47.13 Whenever I had to go visit people as a pastor, 00:17:47.16\00:17:49.16 I'd say, "That street is on A, 00:17:49.20\00:17:51.90 D" and a little bitty lines going everywhere 00:17:51.93\00:17:54.94 and I'd be driving up and down streets 00:17:54.97\00:17:56.40 and asking for directions, it took forever. 00:17:56.44\00:17:58.61 Now I just said, "Take me to 4911, Lexington Way." 00:17:58.64\00:18:02.84 And all of a sudden it tells me which way to turn. 00:18:02.88\00:18:06.98 It's got the map built-in. 00:18:07.02\00:18:08.65 When you read your Bible, the Holy Spirit will help it 00:18:08.68\00:18:12.55 become an internal GPS for you, 00:18:12.59\00:18:15.76 to guide you in the decisions that you make, 00:18:15.79\00:18:18.03 because there's a lot of very important decisions 00:18:18.06\00:18:19.93 you got to make. 00:18:19.96\00:18:21.30 All right, I need a volunteer. 00:18:21.33\00:18:24.57 The young lady on the front over here. 00:18:24.60\00:18:27.70 Now, you can take a peek in the treasure chest, 00:18:27.74\00:18:29.64 and what's your name? Good Christian. 00:22:58.91\00:23:01.64 He read in the Bible that, 00:23:01.68\00:23:03.85 "Man doesn't live by bread alone, 00:23:03.88\00:23:05.51 but by every Word of God." 00:23:05.55\00:23:08.42 And he thought, "Well, whenever I get sick, 00:23:08.45\00:23:10.12 if I would just eat some of the Bible." 00:23:10.15\00:23:13.02 And so when he got sick, he would tear out a page 00:23:13.05\00:23:16.12 or two of the Bible and eat it. 00:23:16.16\00:23:18.29 And he said, 00:23:18.33\00:23:19.66 "It always made him feel so much better." 00:23:19.69\00:23:23.37 Until the last time, 00:23:23.40\00:23:24.97 when he got old, he had a stroke. 00:23:25.00\00:23:27.04 He was feeling very bad, so he ate the entire book 00:23:27.07\00:23:30.84 of 1 and 2 Kings and then he died. 00:23:30.87\00:23:36.24 When the Bible tells us to eat God's Word, 00:23:36.28\00:23:38.61 it's the bread of life. 00:23:38.65\00:23:39.98 It doesn't mean literally eat the pages. 00:23:40.02\00:23:42.08 You don't want to tear the pages out of your Bible. 00:23:42.12\00:23:44.65 Question three. 00:23:44.69\00:23:46.02 Does God foretell the future in the Bible? 00:23:46.05\00:23:49.86 Does it? What's the Bible say about it? 00:23:49.89\00:23:51.69 God says in Isaiah 46:9-10. 00:23:51.73\00:23:54.90 He says, "I am God 00:23:54.93\00:23:56.83 declaring the end from the beginning, 00:23:56.87\00:23:59.33 and from ancient times things that are not yet done." 00:23:59.37\00:24:02.60 We know that God is God, because He can see the future 00:24:02.64\00:24:06.57 and everything He says is gonna happen it happens. 00:24:06.61\00:24:10.31 I need a volunteer. 00:24:10.35\00:24:13.52 Which side, I forget which side I went to last time, 00:24:13.55\00:24:15.32 let me go over there. 00:24:15.35\00:24:16.69 I see a young man's raising his hand the highest. 00:24:16.72\00:24:18.85 Okay, just play, altitude does help. 00:24:18.89\00:24:20.46 Come on up here. 00:24:20.49\00:24:22.49 I need you to go in the treasure chest, 00:24:22.52\00:24:24.13 and your name? 00:24:24.16\00:24:25.49 Sam. Sam. 00:24:25.53\00:24:26.86 You can open up the chest, 00:24:26.90\00:24:28.23 you're gonna see a statue in there. 00:24:28.26\00:24:30.67 See a statue in there somewhere? 00:24:30.70\00:24:33.20 Yeah, and also there's a rock. 00:24:33.23\00:24:34.74 You wanna get the rock out too. Here, let me help you. 00:24:34.77\00:24:37.67 See a little rock, it says, "Jesus" on it there. 00:24:37.71\00:24:39.54 Yeah, grab that. Okay. 00:24:39.57\00:24:42.14 All right, and turn around. 00:24:42.18\00:24:43.51 I want you to hold this up here for us? 00:24:43.55\00:24:45.01 How many of you know what this is? 00:24:45.05\00:24:47.12 There's about a story in the Bible. 00:24:47.15\00:24:49.88 This is a dream that King Nebuchadnezzar 00:24:49.92\00:24:52.32 had in Daniel Chapter 2. 00:24:52.35\00:24:55.29 And in that dream, Daniel told the king 00:24:55.32\00:24:58.43 that vision of images 00:24:58.46\00:25:00.26 represents the religions of the world 00:25:00.30\00:25:02.10 and the kingdoms of the world. 00:25:02.13\00:25:04.03 Starts with the kingdom, who knows the gold 00:25:04.07\00:25:06.07 was called the Kingdom of Babylon, 00:25:06.10\00:25:09.00 and the silver was Medo-Persia, 00:25:09.04\00:25:12.21 and the bronze, you gotta hold his legs here, 00:25:12.24\00:25:14.54 so Greece, and the legs were... 00:25:14.58\00:25:17.35 The Rome. 00:25:17.38\00:25:18.71 They were Rome, and the feet 00:25:18.75\00:25:20.08 were a mixture of the church and the Roman State. 00:25:20.12\00:25:24.62 And then the division of the Roman Empire 00:25:24.65\00:25:26.79 is 10 toes here. 00:25:26.82\00:25:28.52 And then the next thing that comes, 00:25:28.56\00:25:29.92 you got the gold, and the silver, and the bronze, 00:25:29.96\00:25:31.93 and the iron, and the clay, and the iron, and then a rock. 00:25:31.96\00:25:36.97 Who is the Rock of Ages? 00:25:37.00\00:25:38.87 What's it say on the front of your rock there? 00:25:38.90\00:25:40.37 You gotta show me. Here we go. 00:25:40.40\00:25:43.67 Who's the rock? 00:25:43.71\00:25:45.04 Jesus. Jesus. 00:25:45.07\00:25:46.41 This is the rock then it strikes 00:25:46.44\00:25:47.78 the image on the feet, 00:25:47.81\00:25:49.21 and it blasts it all, pulverizes it to smithereens 00:25:49.24\00:25:52.68 and it blows away and the rock... 00:25:52.71\00:25:54.52 He's very good at what he does. 00:25:54.55\00:25:56.28 And the rock turns into a great mountain 00:25:56.32\00:25:58.89 and fills the whole earth. 00:25:58.92\00:26:00.76 And so God... 00:26:00.79\00:26:02.42 And this will happen before... 00:26:02.46\00:26:04.53 The prophecy in the dream were given before it happened. 00:26:04.56\00:26:06.90 You can keep these now and you can, 00:26:06.93\00:26:09.16 that's my gift from me to you. 00:26:09.20\00:26:10.53 You can't play with them while I'm preaching, okay. 00:26:10.57\00:26:14.37 That outlined all the kingdoms of the world 00:26:14.40\00:26:17.61 from the time of Daniel up until Jesus comes 00:26:17.64\00:26:21.38 and everything has happened, 00:26:21.41\00:26:22.74 God sees the future perfectly. 00:26:22.78\00:26:24.78 He foretold all these kingdoms just as they would come 00:26:24.81\00:26:28.38 and He then interpreted that for King Nebuchadnezzar. 00:26:28.42\00:26:32.59 Does science support that the Bible is true? 00:26:32.62\00:26:36.42 Yes. 00:26:36.46\00:26:38.06 Bible's even a very scientific book. 00:26:38.09\00:26:40.60 You know, years ago in Europe, they were having problems 00:26:40.63\00:26:45.60 because they had a Bubonic plague. 00:26:45.63\00:26:49.00 Well, you know, Bubonic plague comes from fleas 00:26:49.04\00:26:52.47 that are on rats and mice. 00:26:52.51\00:26:55.14 And the fleas were there because there were no cats. 00:26:55.18\00:26:58.85 Because some people in the church said, 00:26:58.88\00:27:00.42 "Cats are evil." 00:27:00.45\00:27:02.28 They started killing all the cats in Europe. 00:27:02.32\00:27:04.69 And then what happens when there're no cats? 00:27:04.72\00:27:07.26 The mice and rats begin to multiply, 00:27:07.29\00:27:09.46 and people got these fleas 00:27:09.49\00:27:10.83 from the rats and they all got sick, 00:27:10.86\00:27:12.19 and they didn't know what to do. 00:27:12.23\00:27:13.73 And so some of the church leaders said, 00:27:13.76\00:27:15.13 "Maybe we should look in the Bible." 00:27:15.16\00:27:17.53 And the Bible talked about the laws of sanitation. 00:27:17.57\00:27:21.00 They began to follow the laws of sanitation in the Bible, 00:27:21.04\00:27:23.97 and it finally stopped the Bubonic plague. 00:27:24.01\00:27:27.41 In the Bible, it says, 00:27:27.44\00:27:28.78 "God hangs the earth on nothing." 00:27:28.81\00:27:30.78 Way back in the Book of Job, 00:27:30.81\00:27:32.18 one of the oldest books in the Bible. 00:27:32.21\00:27:33.88 He said, "The earth is not, 00:27:33.92\00:27:35.25 it's not sitting on the shoulders of Atlas." 00:27:35.28\00:27:38.45 And some that's what the Greeks said, 00:27:38.49\00:27:40.46 "That Atlas was holding the world on his shoulders 00:27:40.49\00:27:43.02 or that the world was on the back 00:27:43.06\00:27:44.39 of the big tortoise." 00:27:44.43\00:27:45.76 I used to think, "Well, 00:27:45.79\00:27:47.13 what's the tortoise standing on?" 00:27:47.16\00:27:48.50 And they had all these myths about 00:27:48.53\00:27:49.96 what the world was sitting on. 00:27:50.00\00:27:51.90 But the Bible says, "The earth is suspended 00:27:51.93\00:27:53.90 in space on nothing." 00:27:53.94\00:27:55.67 Furthermore, the Bible says, 00:27:55.70\00:27:58.14 "He sits above the circle of the earth." 00:27:58.17\00:28:01.38 And back when the Bible was written, 00:28:01.41\00:28:02.84 some people thought that the earth was flat. 00:28:02.88\00:28:05.98 If you remember, the story about 00:28:06.01\00:28:07.42 when Christopher Columbus said that he wanted to get 00:28:07.45\00:28:09.42 some ships from Queen Isabella. 00:28:09.45\00:28:11.99 So he could sail from the West to the East 00:28:12.02\00:28:17.03 going around the world and they said, 00:28:17.06\00:28:18.49 "You'll sail off the edge of the earth, 00:28:18.53\00:28:20.00 the earth is flat." 00:28:20.03\00:28:21.63 Said, no, the earth is round. 00:28:21.66\00:28:23.57 So even as late as Christopher Columbus, 00:28:23.60\00:28:25.83 many educated people thought the earth was flat, 00:28:25.87\00:28:28.80 but the Bible way back in the Old Testament, said, 00:28:28.84\00:28:31.81 "He sits on the circle of the earth," 00:28:31.84\00:28:33.24 that's in the Book of Isaiah 600 years B.C. 00:28:33.27\00:28:37.38 Does the message of the Bible all fit together? 00:28:37.41\00:28:41.55 Perfectly, even though the Bible is written by 00:28:41.58\00:28:44.42 who knows how many? 00:28:44.45\00:28:46.12 Roughly 40 people 00:28:46.15\00:28:48.96 over a period of 1,500 years, 00:28:48.99\00:28:52.56 some were shepherds, some were kings, 00:28:52.59\00:28:55.10 some were in palaces who wrote the Bible, 00:28:55.13\00:28:57.37 some were in prisons who wrote the Bible. 00:28:57.40\00:29:00.07 There were priests, and there were apostles, 00:29:00.10\00:29:02.17 they were pastors, 00:29:02.20\00:29:03.54 there are all kinds of different, 00:29:03.57\00:29:04.91 there were shepherds, as I mentioned. 00:29:04.94\00:29:08.08 But it's all one concise complete message 00:29:08.11\00:29:11.55 that talks about God's plan for us who He's like. 00:29:11.58\00:29:15.98 The Bible says in 2 Peter Chapter 2, it says, 00:29:16.02\00:29:19.22 "Holy men of God spoke as they were moved 00:29:19.25\00:29:22.69 by the Holy Spirit." 00:29:22.72\00:29:24.76 The Bible is miraculous in its harmony. 00:29:24.79\00:29:28.30 It all fits together perfectly. 00:29:28.33\00:29:29.76 The different writers in the Bible 00:29:29.80\00:29:31.63 support each other. 00:29:31.67\00:29:33.70 The Bible is miraculous in its origin. 00:29:33.74\00:29:37.11 It's fantastic, how? 00:29:37.14\00:29:39.07 Just all the way back from the time of Moses, 00:29:39.11\00:29:42.34 how God inspired him to write, 00:29:42.38\00:29:44.55 and man was able to supernaturally receive 00:29:44.58\00:29:48.78 these original conversations 00:29:48.82\00:29:50.52 all the way back to the Garden of Eden. 00:29:50.55\00:29:52.62 God gave this to them in vision 00:29:52.65\00:29:55.02 and He preserved it in its accuracy. 00:29:55.06\00:29:58.49 As I mentioned in the Dead Sea Scrolls. 00:29:58.53\00:30:00.86 Now if we started something right now 00:30:00.90\00:30:02.36 where I told you something, and you told her, 00:30:02.40\00:30:04.97 and you told her, and you told him, 00:30:05.00\00:30:06.33 you told him, you told her, you told him. 00:30:06.37\00:30:08.80 If I whispered in your ear a sentence 00:30:08.84\00:30:11.87 and you whispered in her ear, 00:30:11.91\00:30:13.24 and we went all the way back, 00:30:13.27\00:30:14.61 and all the way up here, and then I finally say, 00:30:14.64\00:30:16.51 "Okay, what did she whisper in your ear?" 00:30:16.54\00:30:18.58 Do you know, that message is gonna change. 00:30:18.61\00:30:21.42 I might start out and say, "Please pass the sugar." 00:30:21.45\00:30:24.75 And by the time the message gets to you, 00:30:24.79\00:30:26.62 it'll say, "Pigs are greasy." 00:30:26.65\00:30:28.49 Can be a totally different message. 00:30:28.52\00:30:30.29 Because as it goes from person to person, and people say, 00:30:30.33\00:30:33.36 "How could the Bible be so consistent 00:30:33.40\00:30:36.00 even though it's been translated 00:30:36.03\00:30:38.70 and printed so many times?" 00:30:38.73\00:30:40.74 God has miraculously preserved its accuracy 00:30:40.77\00:30:45.44 and the Bible is miraculous in its message. 00:30:45.47\00:30:49.78 The message of the Bible is that God has a plan for you, 00:30:49.81\00:30:53.95 He has a plan for you to live forever, 00:30:53.98\00:30:56.75 and that He wants to save you from evil 00:30:56.79\00:30:59.22 and take you to a kingdom. 00:30:59.25\00:31:00.59 We had a lesson 00:31:00.62\00:31:01.96 where we talked about that kingdom, 00:31:01.99\00:31:03.32 where you will have glorified bodies 00:31:03.36\00:31:04.99 and you will live forever and ever. 00:31:05.03\00:31:08.16 What's one of the greatest proofs 00:31:08.20\00:31:10.30 that the Bible is true? 00:31:10.33\00:31:12.90 It says in the Bible in 2 Corinthians 5:17. 00:31:12.93\00:31:16.74 "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, 00:31:16.77\00:31:18.77 He is a new creation." 00:31:18.81\00:31:20.21 The greatest proof for the Bible 00:31:20.24\00:31:21.68 is the way He transforms people. 00:31:21.71\00:31:24.31 You can also read in 2 Corinthians 5:17, 00:31:24.35\00:31:26.98 "Old things have passed away, behold, 00:31:27.02\00:31:29.72 all things have become new." 00:31:29.75\00:31:31.85 Now, I know the Bible is miraculous in the way 00:31:31.89\00:31:34.46 that it transforms people, 00:31:34.49\00:31:35.82 because I was one of those people 00:31:35.86\00:31:37.33 transformed by the Bible. 00:31:37.36\00:31:39.23 Now, that's a picture of me when I was 11 years old. 00:31:39.26\00:31:42.73 And I'm smiling, but I wasn't very happy. 00:31:42.76\00:31:46.43 My parents didn't believe in God. 00:31:46.47\00:31:48.90 And my mother, she had a Jewish background, 00:31:48.94\00:31:51.14 but she wasn't religious 00:31:51.17\00:31:52.51 and my father had a Baptist background, 00:31:52.54\00:31:54.14 but he became an agnostic or an atheist. 00:31:54.18\00:31:56.88 He didn't believe in God. 00:31:56.91\00:31:58.58 And they sent me to 14 different schools. 00:31:58.61\00:32:02.15 That time, I was actually in New York Military Academy. 00:32:02.18\00:32:05.85 That's the same school where President Trump went. 00:32:05.89\00:32:07.89 But I didn't know him because he was older than me. 00:32:07.92\00:32:10.46 But in New York, and I got into a lot of trouble 00:32:10.49\00:32:14.16 because I didn't think there was a God. 00:32:14.20\00:32:16.43 And I used to think about killing myself, 00:32:16.46\00:32:19.50 because it seemed like people weren't very happy. 00:32:19.53\00:32:22.24 My mother was an actress in movies. 00:32:22.27\00:32:25.64 I don't know if any of you ever saw the movie, 00:32:25.67\00:32:27.21 The Ten Commandments. 00:32:27.24\00:32:28.71 My mother had a little part in that movie, very little. 00:32:28.74\00:32:31.91 Whenever the kids watch it, 00:32:31.95\00:32:33.28 I say, "Look, there goes, grandma." 00:32:33.31\00:32:34.65 That's it, she's gone. She was a songwriter. 00:32:34.68\00:32:37.75 She used to write songs for Elvis Presley. 00:32:37.79\00:32:39.69 She was a film critic. 00:32:39.72\00:32:41.06 She knew different actresses and actors all over the world. 00:32:41.09\00:32:46.39 But they weren't very happy. 00:32:46.43\00:32:47.96 And we knew these people, we went to their homes 00:32:48.00\00:32:49.76 and they came to our home. 00:32:49.80\00:32:51.70 They had millions of dollars, they were talented, 00:32:51.73\00:32:53.34 they were good looking 00:32:53.37\00:32:54.70 and I knew some that killed themselves, 00:32:54.74\00:32:56.20 because they were so unhappy. 00:32:56.24\00:32:58.67 My father was very wealthy. 00:32:58.71\00:33:00.64 My father actually owned two airlines at one time, 00:33:00.68\00:33:03.88 millions of dollars, private jets, 00:33:03.91\00:33:06.25 Rolls-Royce, Ferrari, Maserati, all these fancy cars, 00:33:06.28\00:33:10.32 lived in a mansion on an island in Miami Beach, 00:33:10.35\00:33:13.82 butler and a maid. 00:33:13.86\00:33:16.02 And he used to drink himself to sleep every night, 00:33:16.06\00:33:19.03 he wasn't happy. 00:33:19.06\00:33:20.50 So I didn't want to be a Christian. 00:33:20.53\00:33:22.03 I thought the Bible is a fairy tale. 00:33:22.06\00:33:24.23 So I got into all these other religions. 00:33:24.27\00:33:25.93 I was into Buddhism, and yoga, and mind control, 00:33:25.97\00:33:29.50 and meditation, and I was just looking for, 00:33:29.54\00:33:32.84 "What's the meaning of life?" 00:33:32.87\00:33:34.91 My father came to Boston, and he said, "Doug, 00:33:34.94\00:33:36.64 you've got to go back to school." 00:33:36.68\00:33:39.01 And he said, "I found a school, it's on a boat." 00:33:39.05\00:33:42.45 Not quite like this boat. This is a picture of the boat. 00:33:42.48\00:33:45.99 Except when I was on that boat, 00:33:46.02\00:33:47.42 I got this picture off the Internet. 00:33:47.46\00:33:49.42 The sails weren't red. 00:33:49.46\00:33:50.96 It was a boat called, The Vega. 00:33:50.99\00:33:53.43 And it was part of a school 00:33:53.46\00:33:56.16 that sailed around the world. 00:33:56.20\00:33:57.53 I thought, "Yeah, I'd like to do that." 00:33:57.57\00:33:59.40 See, I've lived on two different boats, 00:33:59.43\00:34:01.74 and I thought that'd be fun. 00:34:01.77\00:34:03.57 And so I went to the school. 00:34:03.61\00:34:04.94 My father flew me to Italy and we got on this boat 00:34:04.97\00:34:07.01 and it was sailing, but now the school I went to, 00:34:07.04\00:34:09.94 it's a special school, they taught there was no God. 00:34:09.98\00:34:13.21 They taught evolution, they taught atheism. 00:34:13.25\00:34:16.48 But now I'm meditating. 00:34:16.52\00:34:17.85 I said, now I think there's a God, 00:34:17.89\00:34:19.22 too many strange things are happening. 00:34:19.25\00:34:21.89 And I learned something. 00:34:21.92\00:34:23.26 We were sailing from Northern Africa over to Spain, 00:34:23.29\00:34:27.53 and we got into a terrible storm. 00:34:27.56\00:34:30.80 And water started to come over the boat, 00:34:30.83\00:34:33.23 and it was dark, 00:34:33.27\00:34:34.60 and it was Christmas time, and it was cold. 00:34:34.64\00:34:37.01 And I thought, "I'm gonna die." 00:34:37.04\00:34:39.84 And all the people on the boat, what do you think atheists do 00:34:39.87\00:34:42.84 when they think they are gonna die? 00:34:42.88\00:34:45.55 Pray. Praying. 00:34:45.58\00:34:46.92 All of them they started to pray. 00:34:46.95\00:34:50.05 But does God want us to pray because we're afraid? 00:34:50.09\00:34:53.86 It might be a starting point, but He wants us to pray 00:34:53.89\00:34:56.56 because we love Him. 00:34:56.59\00:34:58.73 And so I was praying too. 00:34:58.76\00:35:00.10 Well, I got back and came home 00:35:00.13\00:35:02.90 from that school for Christmas, 00:35:02.93\00:35:04.47 and I ran away for the last time. 00:35:04.50\00:35:05.90 I've never lived at home since I was still 16 years old. 00:35:05.93\00:35:10.71 And I got stuck on the highway hitchhiking 00:35:10.74\00:35:12.94 from Florida to California. 00:35:12.97\00:35:15.34 And I stood there for hours 00:35:15.38\00:35:16.71 begging someone to give me a ride. 00:35:16.75\00:35:18.78 And nobody would pick me up. 00:35:18.81\00:35:20.78 And finally I tried praying. 00:35:20.82\00:35:23.22 I said, "Lord, I know I've been a terrible person. 00:35:23.25\00:35:26.15 Will you please forgive me? 00:35:26.19\00:35:27.69 Help me get a ride, help me get some food." 00:35:27.72\00:35:30.53 And I prayed God would give me a ride with someone normal. 00:35:30.56\00:35:34.20 I said, "I need some money." 00:35:34.23\00:35:35.56 See I asked God for four things, 00:35:35.60\00:35:36.93 a ride to where I was going, some money, some food, 00:35:36.97\00:35:39.77 and a ride with someone normal, four things I prayed for. 00:35:39.80\00:35:42.30 I didn't know about praying in Jesus name. 00:35:42.34\00:35:44.57 I just prayed to God and asked Him 00:35:44.61\00:35:46.27 to forgive me and help me. 00:35:46.31\00:35:47.88 Soon as I finished praying, a van stopped, he picked me up. 00:35:47.91\00:35:52.51 He took me nearly 2,000 miles 00:35:52.55\00:35:54.68 right to where I was going in California. 00:35:54.72\00:35:57.85 He fed me all the way, 00:35:57.89\00:35:59.79 even though I didn't ask him too. 00:35:59.82\00:36:02.32 He gave me $40 when he dropped me off, 00:36:02.36\00:36:04.29 that was a lot of money back then 00:36:04.33\00:36:06.36 and I didn't ask for it. 00:36:06.39\00:36:07.76 I also did not ask for him to preach to me 00:36:07.80\00:36:10.10 all the way from Oklahoma to California. 00:36:10.13\00:36:13.34 He was a Christian and he was quoting the Bible 00:36:13.37\00:36:15.64 and he was talking to me about Jesus and I'm going, 00:36:15.67\00:36:18.41 "Oh, the Bible is a fairy tale. 00:36:18.44\00:36:19.77 I don't believe the Bible." 00:36:19.81\00:36:21.81 But I had to listen to him or jump out of the car. 00:36:21.84\00:36:24.31 And he was so nice to me, so it got me thinking. 00:36:24.35\00:36:27.78 So now I wanted to find God through nature. 00:36:27.82\00:36:30.69 So I moved up into the mountains 00:36:30.72\00:36:32.05 and I lived in a cave, like a hermit 00:36:32.09\00:36:34.82 for a year and a half by myself. 00:36:34.86\00:36:37.93 And I thought, I'm gonna find God, 00:36:37.96\00:36:39.39 I was tired of the city, money didn't bring happiness, 00:36:39.43\00:36:41.83 fame didn't bring happiness. 00:36:41.86\00:36:43.20 What is the purpose of life? 00:36:43.23\00:36:45.17 And the miracle is somebody 00:36:45.20\00:36:47.20 had been in the cave camping before me. 00:36:47.24\00:36:49.67 They left a Bible in the cave. I ignored it for a while. 00:36:49.70\00:36:54.88 But eventually I said, "I'm gonna read the Bible, 00:36:54.91\00:36:56.68 so I can argue with Christians." 00:36:56.71\00:37:00.05 And, boy, I tell you, the Bible is a powerful book. 00:37:00.08\00:37:03.75 I started reading Genesis like this can't be true. 00:37:03.79\00:37:06.92 Adam and Eve, Noah and the flood, 00:37:06.96\00:37:09.09 that can't be true, Tower of Babel, 00:37:09.12\00:37:11.36 I thought it was all a fairy tale. 00:37:11.39\00:37:12.93 But a voice inside kept saying that's true. 00:37:12.96\00:37:15.40 And then I saw the prophecies 00:37:15.43\00:37:16.77 all happened just like God said, 00:37:16.80\00:37:18.53 and the wisdom of what Jesus said, 00:37:18.57\00:37:20.54 so you grown up in the church. 00:37:20.57\00:37:22.04 I didn't know that Jesus said, "Turn the other cheek." 00:37:22.07\00:37:24.97 I heard it all my life, but I didn't know He said that. 00:37:25.01\00:37:27.91 I said, "Oh, Jesus said that." 00:37:27.94\00:37:30.45 Go the second mile, do not cast the first stone, 00:37:30.48\00:37:33.05 love your enemies. 00:37:33.08\00:37:34.42 I'm going, "Wow, Jesus was really smart." 00:37:34.45\00:37:37.82 Finally, I got on my knees up in the cave and I said, "Lord, 00:37:37.85\00:37:41.29 if you're real, I've tried everything else. 00:37:41.32\00:37:43.53 Will you forgive my sins and come into my heart?" 00:37:43.56\00:37:46.66 My whole life changed. 00:37:46.70\00:37:49.10 And it was the power of the Bible 00:37:49.13\00:37:50.67 that changed it all for me, and it'll change your lives. 00:37:50.70\00:37:53.03 The Bible can transform us. 00:37:53.07\00:37:55.37 Number seven. 00:37:55.40\00:37:56.81 When we accept the Bible as God's word, 00:37:56.84\00:37:59.64 can we know things that others are still searching for? 00:37:59.67\00:38:03.71 Yeah, you know, the Bible says, 00:38:03.75\00:38:05.31 "The Word of God will make you smart." 00:38:05.35\00:38:07.18 It says, "I understand more than the ancients, 00:38:07.22\00:38:10.92 because I keep your precepts." 00:38:10.95\00:38:13.86 And the Bible tells us that, Shadrach, Meshach, 00:38:13.89\00:38:16.36 and Abednego were 10 times wiser than all the wise men, 00:38:16.39\00:38:20.86 because they believed the Word of God. 00:38:20.90\00:38:23.37 And there're some other reasons I'll tell you later. 00:38:23.40\00:38:26.13 It tells us in Psalms 119, "Your commandments, 00:38:26.17\00:38:29.10 make me wiser than my enemies, for they are ever with me." 00:38:29.14\00:38:33.84 And the Bible also says, 00:38:33.88\00:38:35.58 "The Word of God is quick and powerful, 00:38:35.61\00:38:38.55 and sharper than any two edged sword." 00:38:38.58\00:38:41.38 So the Word of God is like a sword. 00:38:41.42\00:38:43.72 Now, I'll tell you a little amazing fact. 00:38:43.75\00:38:45.19 How many of you have heard of the Pony Express? 00:38:45.22\00:38:48.62 See, we live in Sacramento now, Pony Express. 00:38:48.66\00:38:51.36 It only lasted for about three years. 00:38:51.39\00:38:53.73 But it went from St. Louis to Sacramento. 00:38:53.76\00:38:56.93 And these riders were the best riders in the world. 00:38:56.97\00:38:59.37 They'd get powerful strong horses 00:38:59.40\00:39:01.14 and it took hundreds of horses. 00:39:01.17\00:39:02.57 They ride 50 miles, they would jump off 00:39:02.60\00:39:04.87 another rider would jump on a fresh horse. 00:39:04.91\00:39:06.84 They would ride 50 miles, 00:39:06.88\00:39:08.48 and they jump off another rider, 00:39:08.51\00:39:10.08 and they carried very thin pieces of mail. 00:39:10.11\00:39:13.18 And it was very expensive, it was $5 a letter back then, 00:39:13.21\00:39:15.65 and that was a lot of money, but they had no train, 00:39:15.68\00:39:18.82 they had no telegraph. 00:39:18.85\00:39:20.19 The only way to get a message was Pony Express. 00:39:20.22\00:39:23.53 It used to be the fastest way. 00:39:23.56\00:39:25.83 But the Pony Express Riders, they had to be light, 00:39:25.86\00:39:29.06 so the horses could go faster. 00:39:29.10\00:39:30.80 The saddles were thin as they could make them. 00:39:30.83\00:39:33.70 The riders could not wear spurs, 00:39:33.74\00:39:35.70 they did not let them carry a gun, 00:39:35.74\00:39:37.74 because a gun was too heavy, 00:39:37.77\00:39:39.27 even though they were going through 00:39:39.31\00:39:40.64 some dangerous country. 00:39:40.68\00:39:42.64 But every Pony Express Rider 00:39:42.68\00:39:44.91 was given a Bible to take with them. 00:39:44.95\00:39:47.75 Because the people that founded the Pony Express 00:39:47.78\00:39:49.82 believed the Word of God was so important 00:39:49.85\00:39:52.25 that it should go with every messenger 00:39:52.29\00:39:54.69 and so they all carried a Bible. 00:39:54.72\00:39:56.32 You know what else, 00:39:56.36\00:39:57.69 not only is the Bible a special message, 00:39:57.73\00:40:00.33 and it's a sword, it's a shield. 00:40:00.36\00:40:03.16 Okay, I need a volunteer. 00:40:03.20\00:40:06.47 All right, let me see here. 00:40:06.50\00:40:07.84 Boy on the end here. Joseph was sold for silver. 00:43:23.60\00:43:27.37 Jesus was sold for silver. 00:43:27.40\00:43:29.84 Do you remember the story in the Bible, where it says, 00:43:29.87\00:43:31.57 "David went up on the Mount of Olives and he wept 00:43:31.61\00:43:34.04 when Absalom chased him out of the kingdom?" 00:43:34.08\00:43:37.01 The Bible says that Jesus went up 00:43:37.05\00:43:38.98 on the Mount of Olives and He wept over Jerusalem. 00:43:39.01\00:43:43.28 All the stories that you see in the Bible, 00:43:43.32\00:43:45.05 how many remember the story, 00:43:45.09\00:43:46.52 what did Samson do at the end of his life? 00:43:46.55\00:43:49.72 He went between the two pillars, 00:43:49.76\00:43:51.93 he stretched out his arms, and it says that 00:43:51.96\00:43:55.43 he knocked the temple of Dagon down 00:43:55.46\00:43:57.77 and he killed more by his death than he did by his life. 00:43:57.80\00:44:02.10 The Bible is telling us that Samson is even type of... 00:44:02.14\00:44:05.47 Jesus stretched out His arms when He died, 00:44:05.51\00:44:07.88 and He did more to defeat the enemy then 00:44:07.91\00:44:10.25 than He did any other time by His death on the cross. 00:44:10.28\00:44:14.82 So all of the stories in the Bible 00:44:14.85\00:44:17.19 are telling us something about Jesus. 00:44:17.22\00:44:20.32 It's like a puzzle piece, the whole... 00:44:20.36\00:44:22.46 Jesus said, "You read the Bible, 00:44:22.49\00:44:24.36 these are they that testify of Me." 00:44:24.39\00:44:28.16 So how can we understand the Bible? 00:44:28.20\00:44:32.30 We need to study it. 00:44:32.33\00:44:34.20 Here a little, there a little, line upon line, 00:44:34.24\00:44:37.44 precept upon precept. 00:44:37.47\00:44:39.54 When you're studying the Bible, 00:44:39.57\00:44:40.91 you don't read one verse and then just go on. 00:44:40.94\00:44:45.38 You want to compare scripture with scripture. 00:44:45.41\00:44:48.55 And then the Bible says in two or three witnesses, 00:44:48.58\00:44:51.15 so when you're wanting to find out what's true? 00:44:51.19\00:44:52.52 If you want to find out 00:44:52.55\00:44:53.89 what the Bible says about salvation, 00:44:53.92\00:44:55.42 read several verses about salvation. 00:44:55.46\00:44:57.69 If you want to find out what the Bible says 00:44:57.73\00:44:59.06 about heaven or hell. 00:44:59.09\00:45:00.66 Don't read one verse. 00:45:00.70\00:45:02.60 The more verses you have, 00:45:02.63\00:45:04.47 the more stable you are in your understanding. 00:45:04.50\00:45:07.54 It's like putting several nails in the truth 00:45:07.57\00:45:09.94 to give us more clarity. 00:45:09.97\00:45:12.51 All right, I don't know if you've ever heard the story 00:45:12.54\00:45:15.28 about the Mutiny on the Bounty. 00:45:15.31\00:45:17.01 Anyone here ever heard that story? 00:45:17.05\00:45:18.51 It's a true story, 1889 there was a ship 00:45:18.55\00:45:23.15 called the HMS Bounty. 00:45:23.18\00:45:24.72 This is the HMS Adventure. 00:45:24.75\00:45:27.36 And they were sailing down in Tahiti 00:45:27.39\00:45:29.72 and they had a captain. 00:45:29.76\00:45:31.39 His name was Bligh, Captain William Bligh, 00:45:31.43\00:45:33.90 and he was sort of notorious 00:45:33.93\00:45:35.26 for being a little bit difficult to get along with. 00:45:35.30\00:45:38.73 And Captain Bligh, 00:45:38.77\00:45:40.77 the sailors got so tired of him, 00:45:40.80\00:45:42.80 they mutinied. 00:45:42.84\00:45:44.84 And they rose up against him and they put Captain Bligh 00:45:44.87\00:45:49.04 and some of his loyal officers in a small lifeboat, 00:45:49.08\00:45:52.51 and they pushed them out. 00:45:52.55\00:45:53.88 They said, "We're not gonna have you 00:45:53.92\00:45:55.25 be our captain anymore." 00:45:55.28\00:45:56.62 But the problem is when you were part 00:45:56.65\00:45:57.99 of the British Navy, 00:45:58.02\00:46:00.19 if you committed mutiny, they hung you. 00:46:00.22\00:46:03.12 It was a death sentence. 00:46:03.16\00:46:04.73 So the sailors that took the ship, 00:46:04.76\00:46:07.10 they said, "Now, where do we go?" 00:46:07.13\00:46:08.46 The British have ships all over the world, 00:46:08.50\00:46:10.00 how are we gonna hide?" 00:46:10.03\00:46:11.93 Well, they went back to Tahiti. 00:46:11.97\00:46:13.47 Some of the men got off the boat 00:46:13.50\00:46:14.84 in the island of Tahiti, 00:46:14.87\00:46:16.20 it's like a little paradise, but eventually the British came 00:46:16.24\00:46:18.11 and caught and arrested them. 00:46:18.14\00:46:19.81 The other ones took the boat. 00:46:19.84\00:46:21.74 They got some women in Tahiti, 00:46:21.78\00:46:23.35 they knew they'd have to just go 00:46:23.38\00:46:24.71 find a deserted island somewhere. 00:46:24.75\00:46:26.25 And then they got a few extra men 00:46:26.28\00:46:29.12 to help as sailors. 00:46:29.15\00:46:30.92 They sailed the ship and Fletcher Christian, 00:46:30.95\00:46:33.69 who was the first maid who rebelled. 00:46:33.72\00:46:36.16 He found a map and he said, 00:46:36.19\00:46:37.53 "There's an island called Pitcairn Island. 00:46:37.56\00:46:40.30 It's got water and it's got some natural resources, 00:46:40.33\00:46:44.67 and nobody lives on it, 00:46:44.70\00:46:46.20 and it's out in the middle of nowhere. 00:46:46.23\00:46:48.80 We will go out there and start our own new community." 00:46:48.84\00:46:53.24 So they got the boat, they parked it in Pitcairn. 00:46:53.27\00:46:57.05 They took everything they could off the boat 00:46:57.08\00:46:58.91 that was any good, then they burnt the ship, 00:46:58.95\00:47:01.28 so the British sailing by would not see it. 00:47:01.32\00:47:04.49 And for a little while they did okay, 00:47:04.52\00:47:05.92 they all made little huts, 00:47:05.95\00:47:07.29 and they had their own wives and their families, 00:47:07.32\00:47:08.69 but one of the sailors he took some of the supplies 00:47:08.72\00:47:11.23 from the ship and he made a still 00:47:11.26\00:47:13.63 so he could make alcohol. 00:47:13.66\00:47:15.93 And the men began to drink and then they started to fight. 00:47:15.96\00:47:20.70 And pretty soon over the years, one by one, 00:47:20.74\00:47:23.91 there was anarchy and problems on the boat, 00:47:23.94\00:47:27.28 so that they killed each other off 00:47:27.31\00:47:29.71 until there were only 2 men, 00:47:29.74\00:47:32.41 11 women, about 23 children. 00:47:32.45\00:47:37.75 And eventually, John Adams, the one man, 00:47:37.79\00:47:43.06 he went to the bottom of Captain Bligh's chest 00:47:43.09\00:47:46.83 and he found the ship's Bible. 00:47:46.86\00:47:49.86 And he took the Bible and he started to read it, 00:47:49.90\00:47:52.07 and he told the women and he just said, 00:47:52.10\00:47:54.80 "We've gotta stop drinking, we've gotta stop fighting. 00:47:54.84\00:47:58.11 He destroyed the still." 00:47:58.14\00:48:00.14 And he kept reading the Bible, 00:48:00.18\00:48:01.51 pretty soon the whole family came together 00:48:01.54\00:48:03.01 to hear the stories from the Bible. 00:48:03.04\00:48:04.38 They had no books on the island and they began to pray. 00:48:04.41\00:48:07.52 They had morning and evening worship, 00:48:07.55\00:48:09.22 they would pray before they ate, 00:48:09.25\00:48:10.72 they would pray after they ate, they began to keep the Sabbath. 00:48:10.75\00:48:13.89 They became a very religious community. 00:48:13.92\00:48:16.66 So about 19 years later, a whaler stopped on Pitcairn. 00:48:16.69\00:48:21.56 They had not seen anyone in 19 years. 00:48:21.60\00:48:23.90 A Captain name Folger. 00:48:23.93\00:48:25.40 He came ashore and he said, "There's people on this island 00:48:25.43\00:48:29.87 and they speak kind of English gibberish, 00:48:29.90\00:48:34.58 but it's the most godly community 00:48:34.61\00:48:36.51 we've ever found." 00:48:36.54\00:48:38.68 It's because everything they did on this island now 00:48:38.71\00:48:41.22 was based on the principles from God's Word. 00:48:41.25\00:48:44.62 You know, what the Bible did on that island 00:48:44.65\00:48:47.52 it will do in your life. 00:48:47.56\00:48:49.26 Someone once said, 00:48:49.29\00:48:50.63 "Either the Bible will keep you from sin 00:48:50.66\00:48:53.60 or sin will keep you from the Bible." 00:48:53.63\00:48:57.00 Do you read your Bibles? 00:48:57.03\00:48:59.90 Now you may not understand everything 00:48:59.93\00:49:01.84 when you first read it. 00:49:01.87\00:49:04.01 How many of you understood your parents 00:49:04.04\00:49:05.64 when you were babies? 00:49:05.67\00:49:08.91 How many of you understand your parents now? 00:49:08.94\00:49:12.58 How many of you sometimes pretend you 00:49:12.61\00:49:14.15 don't understand your parents? 00:49:14.18\00:49:16.89 When you really do, huh, I don't know what do you mean? 00:49:16.92\00:49:19.99 But when you keep listening as a baby, 00:49:22.99\00:49:25.46 you didn't understand your parents. 00:49:25.49\00:49:27.26 And your parents probably talked 00:49:27.30\00:49:28.63 a little bit of baby gibberish to you too. 00:49:28.66\00:49:30.53 It's amazing to learn to talk at all. 00:49:30.57\00:49:32.77 Now you hear some parents, 00:49:32.80\00:49:34.14 "Oh, my little pookey dookey..." 00:49:34.17\00:49:36.60 But, then as the parents keep talking to the children, 00:49:36.64\00:49:41.74 you start understanding more. 00:49:41.78\00:49:43.51 So when you first started reading in the Bible. 00:49:43.55\00:49:45.48 I know when I first started reading the Bible, 00:49:45.51\00:49:48.25 when I was up there in the cave and reading the Bible, 00:49:48.28\00:49:51.05 it says, "The brethren came together." 00:49:51.09\00:49:53.56 I didn't know what brethren was. 00:49:53.59\00:49:55.69 I thought that meant breathe 00:49:55.72\00:49:57.33 and I thought that it was talking about 00:49:57.36\00:49:58.69 the breathing came together and what does that mean? 00:49:58.73\00:50:01.16 And whenever it said, You or ye, therefore shew, 00:50:01.20\00:50:05.57 and I thought I didn't speak King James. 00:50:05.60\00:50:07.34 I didn't know what that meant. 00:50:07.37\00:50:08.70 But you know what? I kept reading. 00:50:08.74\00:50:12.01 So if you don't first understand the Bible, 00:50:12.04\00:50:13.68 what do you do? 00:50:13.71\00:50:15.54 Keep reading. 00:50:15.58\00:50:16.91 If you don't first understand it, what do you do? 00:50:16.95\00:50:19.51 Keep reading. 00:50:19.55\00:50:21.42 You know, the reason you speak English, most of you, 00:50:21.45\00:50:24.75 is because you've been hearing English all your life. 00:50:24.79\00:50:27.92 And as you listen, you understand. 00:50:27.96\00:50:29.49 Now I read this, 00:50:29.52\00:50:30.86 there's scarcely a sentence in the Bible 00:50:30.89\00:50:32.26 I can read now, I understand 00:50:32.29\00:50:33.96 what the words are all through the Bible, 00:50:34.00\00:50:36.60 and it changed my life, 00:50:36.63\00:50:39.63 and it gave me real joy and happiness. 00:50:39.67\00:50:41.37 You know, my mom has gone now 00:50:41.40\00:50:44.37 and my father has gone, 00:50:44.41\00:50:47.91 and my brother, I had one real brother, 00:50:47.94\00:50:50.51 I still have a stepbrother. 00:50:50.55\00:50:52.75 My real brother has passed away. 00:50:52.78\00:50:54.98 And I think I'm probably 00:50:55.02\00:50:57.69 the happiest person in the family 00:50:57.72\00:51:00.62 because of what the Bible did for me, 00:51:00.66\00:51:02.56 it totally changed my life. 00:51:02.59\00:51:04.76 And what God did for me, 00:51:04.79\00:51:06.13 He wants to do for each one of us 00:51:06.16\00:51:08.33 is by your putting the Bible first. 00:51:08.36\00:51:10.17 Now we're gonna read on a little more here. 00:51:10.20\00:51:12.17 You know, in the Bible, 00:51:12.20\00:51:14.74 the central theme of the Bible is the cross. 00:51:14.77\00:51:19.47 It's when Jesus died on the cross, 00:51:19.51\00:51:21.08 that's where you see Satan's love of power 00:51:21.11\00:51:24.25 and God's power of love. 00:51:24.28\00:51:27.02 And in the ancient treasure maps, 00:51:27.05\00:51:31.69 some of them they'd have a map and they'd say, 00:51:31.72\00:51:34.19 "You know, you go 50 yards from this rock, 00:51:34.22\00:51:36.62 and there'll be a rock that looks like, 00:51:36.66\00:51:38.69 you know, a shark and then you go 00:51:38.73\00:51:41.46 another 50 paces this way, 00:51:41.50\00:51:43.47 and there's gonna be a cluster of trees, 00:51:43.50\00:51:44.97 and then you go to the left, and there will be dotted line, 00:51:45.00\00:51:46.90 and then you'll see a spring, 00:51:46.94\00:51:48.40 and then you go another 50 paces 00:51:48.44\00:51:50.11 north from there, an X marks the spot. 00:51:50.14\00:51:54.28 And sometimes they would draw at least in the old stories, 00:51:54.31\00:51:57.71 they draw an X in red and that would mark the spot 00:51:57.75\00:52:01.82 where the treasure is. 00:52:01.85\00:52:04.19 Well, you know, in the Bible, there is a treasure. 00:52:04.22\00:52:06.45 The Bible is a treasure. 00:52:06.49\00:52:08.62 But the map in the Bible is taken us to the treasure 00:52:08.66\00:52:11.19 where X marks the spot. 00:52:11.23\00:52:13.13 Who knows what that X is in the Bible? 00:52:13.16\00:52:16.16 It's the cross of Jesus. 00:52:16.20\00:52:19.20 The main theme of the Bible is all the way from Genesis 00:52:19.23\00:52:23.87 to Revelation is about the love of God 00:52:23.91\00:52:26.37 that was shown for you and me when Jesus died on the cross. 00:52:26.41\00:52:30.41 You know, when I decided back then 00:52:30.45\00:52:32.28 to accept the Lord in my life, 00:52:32.31\00:52:34.55 everything in my life changed. 00:52:34.58\00:52:37.85 I wish, when I was your age, I had known more about God, 00:52:37.89\00:52:41.09 I made so many mistakes, I wish I could forget. 00:52:41.12\00:52:43.89 But if I was young, if I could have been like, 00:52:43.93\00:52:46.53 8, 9, 10 years old and known about the Bible 00:52:46.56\00:52:48.96 and known about Jesus, I would have saved myself 00:52:49.00\00:52:50.77 a lot of trouble, a lot of heartache, 00:52:50.80\00:52:52.97 would have had a better education. 00:52:53.00\00:52:54.87 But God was still merciful to me, 00:52:54.90\00:52:56.50 but it all happened 00:52:56.54\00:52:57.87 because of the power that's in the Bible. 00:52:57.91\00:53:02.01 I've had such an amazing life. 00:53:02.04\00:53:04.18 I never would have thought 00:53:04.21\00:53:05.55 that God would give me an opportunity 00:53:05.58\00:53:06.92 to travel around the world, and talk to people about Jesus, 00:53:06.95\00:53:09.82 and have so many exciting experiences. 00:53:09.85\00:53:12.09 When you're a Christian, it's not boring. 00:53:12.12\00:53:14.72 The Christian life is the most exciting life. 00:53:14.76\00:53:17.83 I like to have fun. 00:53:17.86\00:53:19.83 I mean, I fly planes, I ride motorcycles and quads, 00:53:19.86\00:53:25.17 I like playing racquetball. 00:53:25.20\00:53:26.53 We're gonna probably play 00:53:26.57\00:53:27.90 some racquetball while we're here. 00:53:27.94\00:53:30.37 Photography, I scuba dive our family, 00:53:30.41\00:53:33.38 we go scuba diving, go underneath the water. 00:53:33.41\00:53:35.78 I've had the chance to live on boats, 00:53:35.81\00:53:37.95 and sail, and see some wonderful things 00:53:37.98\00:53:40.62 and kayaking down rivers, and life is really adventurous. 00:53:40.65\00:53:44.15 Being a Christian doesn't mean life is boring. 00:53:44.19\00:53:47.19 When I was young, before I knew about Jesus, 00:53:47.22\00:53:49.02 I thought the excitement in life came from, 00:53:49.06\00:53:51.79 I used drugs, I drink, I was using dirty words, 00:53:51.83\00:53:57.27 my mind was not in the right place. 00:53:57.30\00:53:59.27 But once I gave my heart to Jesus 00:53:59.30\00:54:01.54 and He moved into my life, the Bible says, 00:54:01.57\00:54:04.61 "Christ wants you to have an abundant life." 00:54:04.64\00:54:07.18 That's when life got really exciting. 00:54:07.21\00:54:09.41 And I started having all the fun in the world 00:54:09.44\00:54:11.78 because of what Jesus did for me. 00:54:11.81\00:54:13.58 And He wants to do that for you. 00:54:13.62\00:54:15.38 Question is, are you willing for God to teach you His truth 00:54:15.42\00:54:20.36 and have this new life?
