Viola and flute. 00:19:23.99\00:19:28.13 Guitar and clarinet. 00:19:28.16\00:19:30.07 Clarinet, base clarinet and alto sax. 00:19:30.10\00:19:32.60 And guitar. And guitar. 00:19:32.63\00:19:34.17 You're a good guitar player, Caleb, don't forget that. 00:19:34.24\00:19:37.44 You make me look bad. 00:19:37.51\00:19:40.11 Caleb is-- I mean, this kid, he started, 00:19:40.18\00:19:42.14 I mean, he is improving so much, a great talent. 00:19:42.18\00:19:45.18 I play piano and trumpet. Okay. 00:19:45.21\00:19:47.75 You make me feel like a slouch. 00:19:47.78\00:19:50.09 Well, you know what, honestly, they are so great 00:19:50.12\00:19:53.79 and Miss Haney, we are so thankful 00:19:53.86\00:19:55.29 because she has instruments galore. 00:19:55.32\00:19:57.63 I'm talking about, they have a lot of instruments. 00:19:57.66\00:20:00.30 And these kids, when they get in those grades, 00:20:00.33\00:20:02.50 actually do you start younger. 00:20:02.53\00:20:04.13 Some of the younger kids? Oh, what about the chimes? 00:20:04.17\00:20:06.30 Did anybody say chimes? 00:20:06.33\00:20:07.87 Oh, we did say, but yeah. 00:20:07.90\00:20:09.24 We all still chimes to some-- 00:20:09.27\00:20:10.61 I mean, they can keep naming all these instruments. 00:20:10.67\00:20:13.34 But we are here today, 00:20:13.38\00:20:14.71 and I ask if they could get off of class a little bit. 00:20:14.74\00:20:16.81 We haven't talked very much. 00:20:16.85\00:20:18.45 But we wanted to talk about Christmas. 00:20:18.48\00:20:20.98 And did you all know that what I've been told 00:20:21.02\00:20:24.25 is people say you shouldn't talk about Christmas 00:20:24.29\00:20:26.55 because that means Christ mass and mass, you know, 00:20:26.59\00:20:30.03 Catholic Church has mass. 00:20:30.09\00:20:31.46 Well, if you are protestants, 00:20:31.49\00:20:32.89 so you shouldn't be using the term Christmas. 00:20:32.93\00:20:36.30 But there are certain things over the period of time 00:20:36.33\00:20:39.13 that people say, oh, it's Christmas time. 00:20:39.17\00:20:41.20 It doesn't mean you anything except you believe. 00:20:41.24\00:20:44.47 For me when I hear Christmas and I'll use the word. 00:20:44.51\00:20:47.51 Years ago, I didn't. 00:20:47.54\00:20:48.98 And we use it on 3ABN Yvonne, we would say, 00:20:49.01\00:20:51.88 things like the holidays and all of that. 00:20:51.91\00:20:53.85 But then when the world said we're not gonna say Christmas 00:20:53.88\00:20:56.85 'cause we want to take, we want to say the holidays. 00:20:56.92\00:20:59.85 I said, no, we got to go back the other way. 00:20:59.89\00:21:01.69 They are gonna take Christ out of the season 00:21:01.72\00:21:04.39 and we can't forget. 00:21:04.43\00:21:05.76 So we say Christmas is okay. 00:21:05.79\00:21:08.00 But Christmas is, we-- I want you all to understand. 00:21:08.03\00:21:11.27 I'm sure you do and the viewers at home. 00:21:11.30\00:21:13.20 We know that Christmas, 00:21:13.23\00:21:15.60 Christ was not born on December the 25th. 00:21:15.64\00:21:18.24 Everybody knows that right? And He wasn't. So why that? 00:21:18.27\00:21:21.51 I won't get into long Bible study. 00:21:21.54\00:21:23.85 But there's where you get into some of the false teachings 00:21:23.91\00:21:27.82 and how Christmas and they substituted 00:21:27.85\00:21:30.75 the birth of Christ 00:21:30.79\00:21:32.95 on something very important happened. 00:21:32.99\00:21:34.76 You're gonna look it up on December 25th. 00:21:34.79\00:21:37.23 But we're not gonna talk about that today. 00:21:37.29\00:21:39.33 You can look it up at home, you'll find out what it is. 00:21:39.36\00:21:42.83 But now instead of celebrating 00:21:42.86\00:21:46.50 this time of year of Christ's birth, 00:21:46.53\00:21:48.80 somebody came up with a character named Santa Claus. 00:21:48.84\00:21:52.54 So St. Nick, right? What do you know about him? 00:21:52.57\00:21:56.38 I-- you know, I don't much about St. Nick. 00:21:56.41\00:21:58.68 Well, good. I really don't. 00:21:58.71\00:22:00.22 'Cause my parents never-- they always said 00:22:00.25\00:22:03.59 there's no such thing as Santa Claus. 00:22:03.62\00:22:04.95 What? 00:22:04.99\00:22:06.32 They did not teach me 00:22:06.35\00:22:07.69 that there was anything such thing as Santa Claus. 00:22:07.72\00:22:09.06 So I didn't, I never believed in Santa Claus. 00:22:09.09\00:22:11.16 I have people say that's terrible. 00:22:11.19\00:22:13.26 You should not tell your kids there's not a Santa Claus. 00:22:13.29\00:22:16.26 I'm glad they didn't. 00:22:16.30\00:22:17.63 How many of you kids, your parents, 00:22:17.67\00:22:19.87 you grew up believing there was a Santa Claus? 00:22:19.90\00:22:23.37 None of you? 00:22:23.41\00:22:24.84 Well, praise the Lord for your parents, right. 00:22:24.87\00:22:27.34 Praise the Lord for your parents. 00:22:27.38\00:22:29.08 Because I've always said, Yvonne that well, in fact, 00:22:29.11\00:22:32.58 when Melody was little, Trinity too, 00:22:32.61\00:22:34.88 we've never said oh, there is a Santa Claus, 00:22:34.92\00:22:38.39 because I've thought about, 00:22:38.42\00:22:40.12 you know, parents teach their kids, 00:22:40.16\00:22:41.49 there's Santa Claus, there is Easter Bunny 00:22:41.52\00:22:43.19 and I don't know what for every season. 00:22:43.22\00:22:45.63 Tooth fairy. Tooth fairy, okay. 00:22:45.66\00:22:48.23 Even though I've been-- some of those things 00:22:48.26\00:22:50.20 'cause I gave the gifts and I put dollars 00:22:50.23\00:22:52.57 when the tooth goes. 00:22:52.60\00:22:53.97 But the kids know it's not the tooth fairy 00:22:54.00\00:22:56.74 or it's not a Santa Claus, right. 00:22:56.77\00:22:59.67 I've been there but people have said 00:22:59.71\00:23:01.41 "That's not right. 00:23:01.44\00:23:02.78 You should let these little kids 00:23:02.81\00:23:04.38 believe in Santa Claus. 00:23:04.41\00:23:05.75 It's fun and we got all the reindeer 00:23:05.78\00:23:07.62 and the stories." 00:23:07.65\00:23:08.98 But I felt like if I teach-- was to teach my children, 00:23:09.02\00:23:12.95 and your parents, obviously, and your's too, Miss. Yvonne, 00:23:12.99\00:23:15.92 that there is a Santa Claus. 00:23:15.96\00:23:18.76 Then when the kids get older and find out there's not, 00:23:18.79\00:23:21.16 they say, "My parents lied to me." 00:23:21.20\00:23:23.87 Really, there's not, 00:23:23.93\00:23:25.27 you mean there's not an Easter Bunny 00:23:25.30\00:23:26.70 that's bringing all these eggs? 00:23:26.74\00:23:28.37 I mean, really when kids are-- 00:23:28.40\00:23:30.17 it doesn't take you too long when you decide 00:23:30.21\00:23:32.51 how does Santa Claus come down all of these fireplaces 00:23:32.54\00:23:35.51 when 90 percent of the houses nowadays 00:23:35.54\00:23:37.35 probably don't have fireplace, you know. 00:23:37.41\00:23:39.81 So how does he do all of that? 00:23:39.85\00:23:41.82 And how did he deliver around the whole world, 00:23:41.85\00:23:45.35 everybody's presents? 00:23:45.39\00:23:46.92 I mean, some people with a lot of money, 00:23:46.96\00:23:48.89 they got a houseful of presents, 00:23:48.92\00:23:50.29 it'd take hours to deliver right. 00:23:50.33\00:23:52.09 That's not any of us, I know. So common sense. 00:23:52.13\00:23:55.46 But I think we should tell the kids the truth. 00:23:55.50\00:23:58.20 But now, should we celebrate Christmas 00:23:58.23\00:24:01.14 and how should we celebrate Christmas 00:24:01.17\00:24:02.67 is what I'd really like to talk about today. 00:24:02.70\00:24:05.34 Does anybody have any ideas? How do you celebrate Christmas? 00:24:05.37\00:24:08.24 Do you trade gifts or anything at home? 00:24:08.28\00:24:10.98 Yes, actually like in just like, 00:24:11.01\00:24:13.52 you know, we like presents and stuff 00:24:13.55\00:24:14.98 but I also think 00:24:15.02\00:24:16.35 that it's good to like give and share with others, 00:24:16.38\00:24:18.29 you know, just little gifts. 00:24:18.32\00:24:20.86 Okay. Anybody else? How do you feel about that? 00:24:20.89\00:24:23.43 Do you all get presents or give presents 00:24:23.46\00:24:26.29 to your brothers, sisters or parents or anyone? 00:24:26.33\00:24:29.36 Yeah, I feel as long as you are celebrating it 00:24:29.40\00:24:32.07 for the right reason and you know all the stuff 00:24:32.10\00:24:34.10 behind it that what is, is and what is not true, 00:24:34.14\00:24:37.01 then it is okay to celebrate it. 00:24:37.07\00:24:38.67 Okay, anybody else? 00:24:38.71\00:24:41.21 It's always nice to celebrate with your family too 00:24:41.24\00:24:43.71 'cause most people get with their family members 00:24:43.75\00:24:45.85 and talk about how their year went 00:24:45.88\00:24:47.62 so I think that's really nice to do during Christmas. 00:24:47.65\00:24:49.98 Very good Trin, very good. Anybody else. 00:24:50.05\00:24:52.65 You like this time of the year, right. 00:24:52.69\00:24:54.02 Oh, yeah. 00:24:54.06\00:24:55.39 Even though you don't believe in Santa Claus 00:24:55.42\00:24:56.79 you still like this time of year. 00:24:56.83\00:24:58.69 Okay, Caleb. 00:24:58.73\00:25:00.13 My family, they also exchange gifts 00:25:00.16\00:25:02.16 but I mean, you can get gifts any time during the year. 00:25:02.20\00:25:05.30 It's not anything too special but I mean, 00:25:05.33\00:25:08.20 we need to remember the ultimate gift, 00:25:08.24\00:25:10.24 Jesus coming to this world. 00:25:10.31\00:25:11.64 So I think it's a good idea to remember Christmas. 00:25:11.67\00:25:15.51 What about songs? 00:25:15.54\00:25:16.88 I'm gonna get in some little 00:25:16.95\00:25:18.28 may be a little more difficult subject for you. 00:25:18.31\00:25:20.45 What about songs. 00:25:20.52\00:25:21.85 If we don't believe there's a Santa Claus, 00:25:21.88\00:25:24.02 what about songs like "Jingle Bells" 00:25:24.09\00:25:26.25 or "Silver Bells" or some of that? 00:25:26.29\00:25:28.82 Does that offend you when you go into store, 00:25:28.86\00:25:31.93 say at Wal-Mart's or wherever, 00:25:31.96\00:25:33.80 are you okay with that or does that offend you? 00:25:33.83\00:25:37.33 No, it doesn't. 00:25:37.37\00:25:38.70 It 's just like as in you grow, 00:25:38.73\00:25:40.07 when we were little or like younger, 00:25:40.10\00:25:41.90 we grew up already knowing that "Jingle Bells" song, 00:25:41.94\00:25:44.17 we were taught at a very young age. 00:25:44.21\00:25:45.54 I don't, if you like, 00:25:45.57\00:25:47.14 if you know the things that's behind it 00:25:47.18\00:25:48.78 and you just sing it, like in a joyful mood, 00:25:48.81\00:25:50.81 just to sing around your friends, 00:25:50.85\00:25:52.51 I don't think it's bad too. 00:25:52.55\00:25:53.88 Yeah. 00:25:53.92\00:25:55.25 Don't you think, you know, the song, for instance, 00:25:55.28\00:25:57.59 "Santa Claus is coming to town 00:25:57.62\00:26:01.29 You better watch out you better not pout 00:26:01.32\00:26:03.79 Better not cry I'm telling you why 00:26:03.86\00:26:06.06 Santa Claus is coming to town" 00:26:06.09\00:26:09.13 Then it says, 00:26:09.16\00:26:10.50 "He knows when you are sleeping 00:26:10.57\00:26:12.70 He knows when you are awake 00:26:12.73\00:26:15.14 He knows if you've been bad or good 00:26:15.17\00:26:17.34 So be good for goodness sake" 00:26:17.41\00:26:19.24 Now what's wrong with that song? 00:26:19.27\00:26:21.24 They are taking Santa and making him my God. 00:26:21.28\00:26:22.94 Say that again, please. 00:26:22.98\00:26:24.31 They are taking Santa and making him my God. 00:26:24.35\00:26:26.25 Absolutely. Very astute. 00:26:26.28\00:26:28.22 Did everybody catch that? 00:26:28.25\00:26:30.29 'Cause who is the only person in the world 00:26:30.32\00:26:33.76 that knows if you've been bad or good? 00:26:33.79\00:26:35.49 God. 00:26:35.52\00:26:36.86 And who is the only one who knows when you are sleeping 00:26:36.93\00:26:38.49 and knows when you are awake? 00:26:38.53\00:26:39.89 God. 00:26:39.93\00:26:41.23 So the devil has come in and people write about it 00:26:41.26\00:26:45.47 and they act like it's true 00:26:45.50\00:26:47.84 that Santa Claus now has taken the place 00:26:47.87\00:26:50.77 so the goal of Satan is to get rid of Jesus, 00:26:50.81\00:26:54.71 take the Christ out of Christmas as they say. 00:26:54.74\00:26:57.61 What's your thoughts, Miss. Yvonne? 00:26:57.65\00:26:59.45 Well, I think it's great that you know, 00:26:59.48\00:27:01.58 the kids have a real grasp on the reality 00:27:01.62\00:27:04.25 of what Christmas is really is about. 00:27:04.32\00:27:06.02 It's about giving, it's about family time, 00:27:06.05\00:27:08.92 it's about sharing love with each other 00:27:08.96\00:27:11.89 and your family and stuff 00:27:11.93\00:27:13.26 and all that stuff about Santa Claus and all. 00:27:13.29\00:27:15.63 You know the truth. 00:27:15.66\00:27:17.00 So you know that Santa is not, is not real. 00:27:17.07\00:27:19.13 So I think they are in a really good place. 00:27:19.17\00:27:21.14 They are. 00:27:21.17\00:27:22.50 But you know what, if I went to a public school right now 00:27:22.54\00:27:25.41 and I sit down and I talked with a lot of kids, 00:27:25.44\00:27:28.04 in fact, I'd like to sometime 00:27:28.08\00:27:29.68 because I'd be very interested to say, 00:27:29.71\00:27:31.95 how old are you now, Caleb? 00:27:31.98\00:27:33.31 I'm 15. 00:27:33.35\00:27:34.68 I'd like to talk to a 15-year-old 00:27:34.72\00:27:36.22 in public school and say, "Now how many of you, 00:27:36.25\00:27:39.89 your parents taught you there's Santa Claus? 00:27:39.92\00:27:42.29 How many of you 15-year-olds 00:27:42.32\00:27:44.53 still believe there's a Santa Claus?" 00:27:44.56\00:27:47.50 And I doubt, I hope none of their hands would raise 00:27:47.60\00:27:51.03 but if they did, I would say, 00:27:51.07\00:27:52.40 well, how do you feel about that? 00:27:52.43\00:27:53.90 I mean, don't you feel a little bit deceived. 00:27:53.94\00:27:56.17 Your folks telling you all these things 00:27:56.20\00:27:57.84 and then well, if you do that 00:27:57.87\00:27:59.74 how do you know there is a Jesus. 00:27:59.77\00:28:01.51 May be they just made that up too, you see. 00:28:01.54\00:28:03.81 So that's my concern in trying to convince 00:28:03.88\00:28:07.68 or I'm gonna call, I'm gonna go ahead and call it a lie. 00:28:07.72\00:28:10.92 I mean, I know that doesn't sound right 00:28:10.95\00:28:12.52 at this time of year, 00:28:12.55\00:28:13.89 don't want to damper any of your spirits. 00:28:13.92\00:28:15.79 But really, if it's not truth, it's a lie. 00:28:15.82\00:28:19.26 Am I telling the truth? Yes. 00:28:19.29\00:28:20.93 So there is no-- sometimes people will say, 00:28:20.96\00:28:23.77 well, it's a partial truth. 00:28:23.80\00:28:25.40 No, there is no partial truth. 00:28:25.43\00:28:27.44 There is only truth and there is a lie. 00:28:27.47\00:28:29.57 That's right. 00:28:29.60\00:28:30.94 So I would like to see what other young people think 00:28:30.97\00:28:34.08 but we got a great, great parents 00:28:34.11\00:28:36.18 and the young people 00:28:36.21\00:28:37.98 and so nobody feels like you got cheated in life 00:28:38.01\00:28:40.42 'cause you folks didn't teach you 00:28:40.45\00:28:41.78 there's a Santa Claus, huh? 00:28:41.82\00:28:43.89 Or probably all the happier for it. 00:28:43.92\00:28:46.45 What's your favorite thing to do at Christmas time? 00:28:46.49\00:28:49.42 What's your favorite thing to do? 00:28:49.46\00:28:51.39 I like spending time with family. 00:28:51.43\00:28:54.30 I like the food and like... 00:28:54.36\00:28:57.67 It's all right. 00:28:57.70\00:28:59.03 But-- and one of the things we used to do is 00:28:59.07\00:29:01.27 we would always go out before like the Christmas day 00:29:01.30\00:29:04.44 and we would buy matching socks, 00:29:04.47\00:29:07.51 Christmas socks and, you know, just sit by the fire 00:29:07.54\00:29:11.91 and make hot cocoa and just have family time. 00:29:11.95\00:29:14.62 It's fun. Nice, that's nice. 00:29:14.65\00:29:16.92 What do we put up every year, Trin? 00:29:16.95\00:29:18.92 A big Christmas tree. 00:29:18.95\00:29:20.29 That's a big one, isn't it? Yes. 00:29:20.32\00:29:21.86 It's like 12 or 14 feet tall 00:29:21.89\00:29:24.73 and these girls and some of these kids 00:29:24.76\00:29:26.39 come over and what do we do? 00:29:26.43\00:29:28.10 Decorate it. We decorate it. 00:29:28.13\00:29:30.40 Because we like to. 00:29:30.47\00:29:31.80 Somebody said, "Why do you do that?" 00:29:31.83\00:29:33.17 'Cause we like to. It's fun. The kids like to do it. 00:29:33.20\00:29:36.30 What else do we do in the winter time? 00:29:36.34\00:29:37.77 We get a little snow here sometimes, six, eight inches. 00:29:37.81\00:29:40.88 We-- in Southern Illinois, we don't get a lot of snow. 00:29:40.91\00:29:43.01 Some winters we you can get a little more, 00:29:43.04\00:29:44.51 some we get very little. 00:29:44.55\00:29:46.01 But when theirs is some snow and ice outside 00:29:46.05\00:29:48.55 what do we like to do? 00:29:48.58\00:29:49.92 We like to sledding. 00:29:49.95\00:29:51.32 Yeah. We got a Kubota. 00:29:51.35\00:29:53.36 I used to, you know, when she's small, 00:29:53.39\00:29:55.12 I could pull them around the kids, 00:29:55.16\00:29:56.73 pull around on, you know, pull literally, pull the sled. 00:29:56.76\00:30:00.50 Well, that gets old really quick 00:30:00.53\00:30:02.36 'cause where we live, we have some hills. 00:30:02.40\00:30:04.80 It's really fun going down those hills 00:30:04.83\00:30:06.90 but it's not very much fun going back up. 00:30:06.94\00:30:09.84 And so one time I remembered, 00:30:09.87\00:30:11.54 Trin was pretty little 00:30:11.57\00:30:13.17 and I don't know if she remembers this 00:30:13.21\00:30:14.74 but I didn't have any sleds. 00:30:14.78\00:30:16.11 I went to the stores around, Wal-Mart, K-Mart. 00:30:16.14\00:30:19.65 And they said, no, we're sold out 00:30:19.68\00:30:21.92 'cause we got this big snow. 00:30:21.95\00:30:23.75 So everybody was so excited. 00:30:23.79\00:30:25.12 I couldn't find a sled and I said, 00:30:25.15\00:30:27.06 oh, man, I wanted to get a sled for her. 00:30:27.12\00:30:29.46 So I had a great big hard luggage case. 00:30:29.49\00:30:32.66 It's a hard luggage, right. Yeah. 00:30:32.69\00:30:34.20 I took a hack saw and I cut it in half 00:30:34.23\00:30:37.60 and it made turn it upside down and it made two sleds. 00:30:37.63\00:30:40.30 It was deep so she could sit in it. 00:30:40.37\00:30:42.37 Oh, fun. Yeah, it's better than a sled. 00:30:42.40\00:30:44.87 So she could sit inside, hold on to the side 00:30:44.91\00:30:47.01 so we got some big hills. 00:30:47.04\00:30:48.61 So I'd get on top and just push her down 00:30:48.64\00:30:50.88 and I mean, she would fly down those hills. 00:30:50.91\00:30:53.05 Do you remember any of that? 00:30:53.08\00:30:54.42 A little bit, a little bit. Yeah, absolutely. 00:30:54.45\00:30:56.92 Then we got those plastic ones, right. 00:30:56.95\00:30:58.75 Now you and the girls, 00:30:58.79\00:31:00.19 you know, Corbana and I pull them. 00:31:00.26\00:31:01.79 Now I got smarter. 00:31:01.82\00:31:03.16 I got a-- like a Kubota, that's got, you can get inside 00:31:03.19\00:31:06.03 and I don't have to get all the cold air 00:31:06.06\00:31:07.60 and the wind, right. 00:31:07.60\00:31:08.93 I'm getting old so you try to protect that. 00:31:08.96\00:31:10.97 But now, you can pull, 00:31:11.00\00:31:12.37 I just put them on long ropes and pull them. 00:31:12.40\00:31:14.94 And I'll try to do big circles and some of these kids, 00:31:14.97\00:31:17.87 they'd come over to the house, 00:31:17.91\00:31:19.41 you have-- turned you over a few times, right. 00:31:19.44\00:31:22.51 Oh, my goodness. 00:31:22.54\00:31:24.41 They go out there all warmed up, 00:31:24.45\00:31:25.78 pretty soon they are in the house 'cause it's-- 00:31:25.81\00:31:28.12 they get all wet in the snow. 00:31:28.15\00:31:29.55 But it's fun, isn't it. So this time of year is fun. 00:31:29.58\00:31:32.49 We can have a lot of fun 00:31:32.52\00:31:33.96 without believing in Santa Claus 00:31:34.02\00:31:35.62 and with all of that 00:31:35.66\00:31:36.99 and without celebrating Christmas as such. 00:31:37.03\00:31:40.16 We can know that Jesus wasn't born on December 25th. 00:31:40.20\00:31:45.63 But that doesn't, 00:31:45.67\00:31:47.60 I don't think that should affect 00:31:47.64\00:31:48.97 how we feel because this is the only time of year, 00:31:49.00\00:31:52.07 where else where other time of year, 00:31:52.11\00:31:53.74 I don't know of any, I could be wrong 00:31:53.81\00:31:55.88 that you can go into all these stores, 00:31:55.91\00:31:57.91 or groceries stores or shopping malls 00:31:57.95\00:31:59.88 and hearing songs being sung about Jesus? 00:31:59.95\00:32:02.58 You can't even talk about Him in public schools. 00:32:02.62\00:32:04.62 They won't play it. 00:32:04.65\00:32:05.99 But at this time of year, Christmas time, they do. 00:32:06.02\00:32:08.89 So we don't care what they call it, 00:32:08.92\00:32:10.76 as long as they are playing Christmas music, 00:32:10.83\00:32:13.26 playing music about Jesus, I think it's great. 00:32:13.29\00:32:16.63 Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah, it is. 00:32:16.67\00:32:19.07 This is the time of year when people are reminded 00:32:19.10\00:32:22.67 about the whole story, the Christmas story 00:32:22.70\00:32:25.61 and we just hope and pray as Christians 00:32:25.64\00:32:27.61 that someone will hear it and think, 00:32:27.64\00:32:30.11 man, I want to get to know Him better. 00:32:30.15\00:32:32.25 I want to know who He is 00:32:32.28\00:32:34.52 and so I think it's great that we hear these songs 00:32:34.55\00:32:37.25 in the stores and all of that. 00:32:37.29\00:32:39.32 Absolutely. It's good. 00:32:39.35\00:32:40.72 What's your favorite thing you like to do 00:32:40.76\00:32:42.76 around Christmas time? 00:32:42.79\00:32:45.06 I love the music. Oh, okay, all right. 00:32:45.09\00:32:48.73 Also, at the academy 00:32:48.76\00:32:50.80 when we have some tradition every-- 00:32:50.83\00:32:53.87 around Christmas time every year, 00:32:53.90\00:32:57.04 she got this little ornamental pickle 00:32:57.07\00:33:00.51 and we take turns hiding it and they try to find it. 00:33:00.58\00:33:04.38 It's a pickle? Yeah, it's an ornament pickle. 00:33:04.41\00:33:06.31 Ornament pickle. I've never even seen an ornament pickle. 00:33:06.35\00:33:09.22 Didn't know they had such a thing. 00:33:09.25\00:33:11.02 And then after everybody else found it 00:33:11.05\00:33:13.36 then she gives out pickle packages. 00:33:13.39\00:33:16.76 All right. 00:33:16.83\00:33:18.36 Last time I tried to pick up the pickle, 00:33:18.39\00:33:20.83 I got poked by something. 00:33:20.90\00:33:23.87 "Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers." 00:33:23.93\00:33:25.87 Here anyone ever heard that? Yeah, yeah. 00:33:25.90\00:33:27.80 Oh, they did. I figured out it was-- 00:33:27.84\00:33:29.77 What do you like about Christmas? 00:33:29.80\00:33:32.21 I like how at our church we have an Agape feast. 00:33:32.24\00:33:37.11 What is an Agape feast for those who don't know? 00:33:37.15\00:33:39.68 At our church we have a big dinner, 00:33:39.71\00:33:42.08 well, it's not that much food but a lot of people come 00:33:42.12\00:33:45.29 and we get to celebrate Jesus and His birth. 00:33:45.32\00:33:47.86 Okay. Well, that's wonderful. 00:33:47.89\00:33:49.76 So it's their celebration of Jesus. 00:33:49.79\00:33:52.33 Not necessarily of the season but Jesus of the season. 00:33:52.36\00:33:55.53 What do you like? 00:33:55.56\00:33:57.13 I like the songs and spending time with my family. 00:33:57.20\00:34:00.24 Okay. 00:34:00.27\00:34:01.60 Do you like to get outside when there's snow on the ground? 00:34:01.64\00:34:04.51 Do you like it out play or do you like 00:34:04.54\00:34:05.91 rather sit inside and read a book or something? 00:34:05.94\00:34:08.88 Outside. 00:34:08.91\00:34:10.25 Going outside. Yeah, I thought so. 00:34:10.28\00:34:11.61 I thought so. 00:34:11.65\00:34:12.98 I got a feeling Caleb would spend sometime out there too. 00:34:13.01\00:34:15.28 What do you like best? 00:34:15.32\00:34:17.09 I like the fellowship with family 00:34:17.12\00:34:18.85 and like all the food. 00:34:18.89\00:34:21.92 So we got several that's honest about it. 00:34:21.96\00:34:23.86 All right. How many likes the food? 00:34:23.93\00:34:26.06 Okay, all of us have been on this too. 00:34:26.09\00:34:27.86 Did you raise your hand, Miss. Yvonne? 00:34:27.93\00:34:29.66 Oh, I definitely love the food. 00:34:29.70\00:34:31.03 I was looking to see if she raised her hand. 00:34:31.07\00:34:32.40 We've been talking about truth, you know. 00:34:32.43\00:34:35.67 So that's a good time of year. 00:34:35.70\00:34:37.21 But sometimes people make food 00:34:37.27\00:34:40.18 that you don't even eat the rest of the year. 00:34:40.24\00:34:42.01 I don't like cranberries, you know, 00:34:42.04\00:34:44.35 like I don't eat that-- may be a lot of you, 00:34:44.38\00:34:47.22 do you all eat cranberries everyday? 00:34:47.28\00:34:49.75 You know in the slice 00:34:49.78\00:34:51.12 but some reason for Thanksgiving and Christmas, 00:34:51.15\00:34:54.29 you have cranberries. 00:34:54.32\00:34:55.66 And there is all kinds of things 00:34:55.69\00:34:57.03 that I look on the table 00:34:57.09\00:34:58.43 and I say, well, that's not bad. 00:34:58.46\00:34:59.79 I wonder why we only eat it this time of year. 00:34:59.83\00:35:02.13 And... 00:35:02.16\00:35:04.10 You know, I'm getting really hungry right now. 00:35:04.17\00:35:07.34 Oh, one thing we forgot to mention is snow angels. 00:35:07.37\00:35:10.01 I like doing that more out in the snow. 00:35:10.04\00:35:11.44 Snow is just falling on 00:35:11.47\00:35:12.87 and then you just move your hands 00:35:12.91\00:35:14.48 and make this little big snow angel like that. 00:35:14.51\00:35:16.75 You fall on your back. Yeah. 00:35:16.78\00:35:19.18 I almost would have you do this. 00:35:19.21\00:35:20.72 But I'm afraid it won't do it right in this kind of snow. 00:35:20.75\00:35:23.99 But you fall on your back 00:35:24.02\00:35:25.35 and you move your arms this way. 00:35:25.39\00:35:26.76 You arms and your legs... 00:35:26.79\00:35:28.12 And it looks like? Snow angel. 00:35:28.16\00:35:29.49 Angel wings, right. 00:35:29.52\00:35:30.93 Okay. All right. And also Christmas lights. 00:35:30.96\00:35:34.30 Oh, Christmas... 00:35:34.30\00:35:35.63 Oh, yeah. 00:35:35.66\00:35:37.00 What do we have in West Frankfort, Trinity? 00:35:37.03\00:35:38.70 It's a candy cane land where the whole neighborhood 00:35:38.73\00:35:42.40 puts lights all over their houses 00:35:42.44\00:35:44.27 and it's really nice to look at. 00:35:44.31\00:35:46.68 We have people that come for, 00:35:46.74\00:35:48.98 sometimes 100 miles around to the little town 00:35:49.01\00:35:52.25 where my hometown, 00:35:52.28\00:35:53.62 born and raised in West Frankfort Illinois 00:35:53.68\00:35:55.68 and Tim Murphy, who I went to school with, 00:35:55.72\00:35:58.82 I think he's a year or so graduated before me. 00:35:58.85\00:36:01.26 He's the art teacher up at 00:36:01.29\00:36:02.62 West Frankfurt Community High School. 00:36:02.66\00:36:04.99 So he started putting out having his art class. 00:36:05.03\00:36:07.93 Make all of these, whether it's movies from Disney 00:36:07.96\00:36:10.40 or whatever, all of these. 00:36:10.47\00:36:12.17 They'd literally take plywood and they paint them 00:36:12.20\00:36:14.24 and all these characters. 00:36:14.27\00:36:15.60 Then they get music going. 00:36:15.64\00:36:17.41 And every year, a year after year 00:36:17.44\00:36:19.44 this thing gets bigger and bigger and bigger, 00:36:19.47\00:36:22.14 till then they got neighbors. 00:36:22.18\00:36:23.55 It got too big for his yard, and he has a big yard. 00:36:23.58\00:36:26.08 Then they got their neighbors involved. 00:36:26.11\00:36:28.22 And other so people will line up 00:36:28.25\00:36:30.39 a week or two before Christmas. 00:36:30.42\00:36:32.12 You can be, what, half a mile on Main Street 00:36:32.15\00:36:35.39 waiting to get to go look at candy cane land 00:36:35.42\00:36:38.76 and that's so neat and then you got 00:36:38.79\00:36:40.23 little Christmas music playing and that's a lot of neat 00:36:40.30\00:36:43.06 we always, we always like to do that. 00:36:43.10\00:36:45.07 Yeah, yeah. 00:36:45.10\00:36:46.43 When, when I was growing up, 00:36:46.47\00:36:49.14 my mom used to take me to Radio City. 00:36:49.17\00:36:52.57 And they would have this huge Christmas program 00:36:52.61\00:36:55.78 with the camels going across the stage. 00:36:55.81\00:36:58.75 And the Lambs and the shepherds. 00:36:58.78\00:37:00.38 And where was that? In New York. 00:37:00.45\00:37:01.78 New York. In New York and. 00:37:01.82\00:37:04.02 And then there was this angel 00:37:04.05\00:37:06.15 that would stand on the side and sing, 00:37:06.19\00:37:07.99 "Oh, Holy Night" And I though, one day. 00:37:08.02\00:37:10.79 I want to, I want to sing at Radio City. 00:37:10.86\00:37:14.36 I want to sing "Oh, Holy Night." 00:37:14.36\00:37:15.70 Which I never did get to do by the way. 00:37:15.73\00:37:17.17 Oh, you can do right now. 00:37:17.20\00:37:18.63 You can do it right now if you want. 00:37:18.67\00:37:21.14 Do you want to sing "Oh, Holy Night?" 00:37:21.17\00:37:24.37 How about if I do it in another time? 00:37:24.41\00:37:26.34 Okay. All right. We'll let you do. 00:37:26.37\00:37:28.24 We've already put Brother John on the spot. 00:37:28.28\00:37:29.91 Yes. Oh my goodness. 00:37:29.94\00:37:31.28 What we like to do, show me the little book, 00:37:31.31\00:37:32.65 just kind of show it towards. 00:37:32.68\00:37:34.38 I don't know if any of you have seen these books, 00:37:34.42\00:37:36.15 let's get a shot of Honoria there. 00:37:36.18\00:37:37.99 It says, the Bible Story, written by Arthur Maxwell. 00:37:38.02\00:37:42.36 And when Melody was little and younger and Trinity 00:37:42.39\00:37:45.16 and still with the grandkids every year, 00:37:45.19\00:37:46.90 we like to go down. 00:37:46.93\00:37:48.76 Now they live in Nashville, can't believe they left pop 00:37:48.80\00:37:51.10 and went to Nashville, Tennessee. 00:37:51.13\00:37:53.07 I mean, who would want to go to Nashville 00:37:53.10\00:37:54.50 when you can live here in West Frankfort, right. 00:37:54.54\00:37:56.67 I don't get it but they did for work reasons and others. 00:37:56.71\00:38:00.04 But I always, when we go down there, 00:38:00.11\00:38:02.24 we take presents and we trade but we want to make sure 00:38:02.28\00:38:05.15 that grandkids understand what this is all about. 00:38:05.18\00:38:07.88 It's not just about the presents. 00:38:07.92\00:38:09.68 So I always take, it's, I think this is book 7. 00:38:09.72\00:38:12.65 Is that what it says there? I think it's book number 7. 00:38:12.69\00:38:16.12 There is 10 volumes 00:38:16.16\00:38:18.69 and a lot of you have seen these 00:38:18.73\00:38:20.16 and at doctor's offices and hospitals. 00:38:20.23\00:38:23.97 The Uncle Arthur Bible Stories. 00:38:24.00\00:38:26.60 And they are great stories and he's telling the story. 00:38:26.63\00:38:29.34 It goes through the Bible but he's telling it in a way 00:38:29.37\00:38:32.67 that it's easier to understand, may be for some folk. 00:38:32.71\00:38:36.11 And not just children 'cause I enjoy it 00:38:36.14\00:38:37.91 and every year, I usually read-- 00:38:37.95\00:38:39.81 start with this and read the story 00:38:39.85\00:38:41.75 about Jesus and His birth. 00:38:41.78\00:38:43.12 We don't have time to read all of that today. 00:38:43.15\00:38:45.25 But Honoria, you volunteered. 00:38:45.29\00:38:46.89 I said, "Do we have any readers that will volunteer?" 00:38:46.96\00:38:49.69 And she raised her hand. 00:38:49.72\00:38:51.26 So we're gonna take a biblical account 00:38:51.29\00:38:54.73 of what really happened. 00:38:54.73\00:38:56.06 We know it wasn't December 25th, 00:38:56.10\00:38:57.63 probably in the fall of the year. 00:38:57.67\00:38:59.27 I'm not sure. 00:38:59.30\00:39:00.70 I'm not a theologian but that's what I'm told. 00:39:00.77\00:39:02.60 But in any case, tell us what happened. 00:39:02.64\00:39:05.67 This is Story 6 and it's called "No Vacancy." 00:39:05.71\00:39:09.74 It says, "Have you ever been traveling late at night 00:39:09.78\00:39:12.91 and found a 'No vacancy' sign on every auto court and motel? 00:39:12.95\00:39:17.12 If so you know how very tired it made you feel. 00:39:17.15\00:39:21.22 The thought that there was no place to rest, 00:39:21.26\00:39:23.32 nowhere to go seemed just too much to take, didn't it? 00:39:23.36\00:39:27.03 Imagine then how poor Joseph and Mary felt 00:39:27.13\00:39:29.93 when they reached the only inn in town 00:39:29.96\00:39:32.70 and found it full, too overflowing. 00:39:32.73\00:39:35.27 There was no room for them in the end. 00:39:35.30\00:39:37.77 It wasn't the inn keeper's fault. 00:39:37.81\00:39:39.44 He couldn't help it. 00:39:39.47\00:39:40.81 Probably he was beside himself trying to find food, 00:39:40.88\00:39:43.35 let alone rooms 00:39:43.38\00:39:44.71 for all the people crowding into the city 00:39:44.75\00:39:47.12 to obey the decree of Caesar Augustus. 00:39:47.15\00:39:50.09 When he saw Mary and guess what was the matter. 00:39:50.12\00:39:52.92 I'm sure he was sorry for her. Who would not have been. 00:39:52.95\00:39:57.43 But what could he do. 00:39:57.46\00:39:58.83 When the hotel was full, it's full. 00:39:58.86\00:40:00.80 That's all. 00:40:00.83\00:40:02.13 Of course, if the innkeeper had known all Mary knew 00:40:02.16\00:40:05.47 that it was the Messiah himself, 00:40:05.50\00:40:07.44 who was to be born that night, 00:40:07.50\00:40:09.47 he would have found a place for her somewhere, 00:40:09.50\00:40:12.04 even if he had to give up his own room. 00:40:12.07\00:40:14.94 And here he missed a great blessing. 00:40:14.98\00:40:17.21 What a story he would had 00:40:17.25\00:40:18.58 have had to tell for the rest of his life. 00:40:18.61\00:40:21.72 How famous his inn would have become. 00:40:21.75\00:40:24.59 People would have talked of his good fortune 00:40:24.62\00:40:26.62 till the end of time. 00:40:26.65\00:40:28.16 By failing to do the best he could 00:40:28.19\00:40:29.66 for a poor needed girl, he lost a great opportunity. 00:40:29.69\00:40:34.03 Jesus may well say to him some day, 00:40:34.10\00:40:36.26 and as much as he did it 00:40:36.30\00:40:37.80 not to one of the least of these, 00:40:37.83\00:40:39.97 he did it not to me. 00:40:40.00\00:40:41.60 How careful we should be 00:40:41.64\00:40:43.07 when someone comes to us in need. 00:40:43.10\00:40:45.57 But in the hurry and bustle of the moment, 00:40:45.61\00:40:47.84 the inn keeper did not think of all this. 00:40:47.88\00:40:50.21 Instead, he offered his stable. 00:40:50.28\00:40:52.65 'The stable,' Joseph said, 'is that all you have. 00:40:52.68\00:40:55.82 At least its shelter and better than nothing. 00:40:55.85\00:40:58.59 The stable. 00:40:58.62\00:41:00.36 As Mary heard the words, her heart sink. 00:41:00.39\00:41:02.92 All day she had longed 00:41:02.96\00:41:04.33 for a comfortable place to rest. 00:41:04.36\00:41:06.29 Now there was nothing but a stable. 00:41:06.33\00:41:08.76 Maybe she cried. 00:41:08.80\00:41:10.13 I'm sure she thought of what Gabriel had said to her. 00:41:10.17\00:41:12.63 He shall be great 00:41:12.67\00:41:14.04 and shall be called the Son of the highest. 00:41:14.10\00:41:16.34 And the Lord God shall give unto him 00:41:16.37\00:41:18.51 the throne of His father, David. 00:41:18.54\00:41:20.54 And he shall reign over the house of Jacob forever. 00:41:20.58\00:41:23.55 And of His kingdom there shall be no end. 00:41:23.61\00:41:27.18 Could he have been mistaken? 00:41:27.22\00:41:28.58 She wondered. 00:41:28.62\00:41:29.95 If what Gabriel had said was true, 00:41:29.98\00:41:31.95 why was there nothing ready for her baby. 00:41:31.99\00:41:34.29 Surely, the Son of the Highest 00:41:34.32\00:41:36.26 should not be born in a smelly old stable. 00:41:36.29\00:41:39.56 A door creaked in the darkness. 00:41:39.59\00:41:41.80 Joseph went ahead with a lantern. 00:41:41.83\00:41:44.10 A cow mooed, a horse neighed, a rooster crowed. 00:41:44.13\00:41:47.97 'This way,' said Joseph, 00:41:48.00\00:41:49.57 'there's some clean straw over here.' 00:41:49.60\00:41:51.91 Peering through the gloom, Mary saw an empty manger 00:41:51.94\00:41:55.01 half filled with hay for the cows to eat. 00:41:55.04\00:41:57.48 "This will do for the baby he said." 00:41:57.51\00:41:59.11 'A Manger?' 'Yes. It will do.' 00:41:59.15\00:42:01.62 But what a strange place 00:42:01.65\00:42:02.98 for the Son of the Highest to lie. 00:42:03.02\00:42:05.05 Strange indeed. 00:42:05.09\00:42:06.52 He could not have chosen a humbler place 00:42:06.55\00:42:08.62 for His coming into the world. 00:42:08.66\00:42:10.43 Perhaps it was because He wanted the humblest 00:42:10.46\00:42:13.23 and the poorest to know that He loved them 00:42:13.26\00:42:15.46 and that He was willing to share their lot. 00:42:15.50\00:42:18.80 No red carpet was spread for Him 00:42:18.83\00:42:20.80 when He came from heaven to earth. 00:42:20.84\00:42:22.67 There was only the straw on a muddy floor. 00:42:22.70\00:42:26.21 No fine linen. 00:42:26.24\00:42:27.58 No downing quilt was provided for His bed. 00:42:27.61\00:42:30.81 Only the fragrant hey. 00:42:30.85\00:42:32.85 No trumpets blared a welcome when He came. 00:42:32.88\00:42:35.52 There was no sound at all, save the mooing of cows, 00:42:35.55\00:42:38.72 the neighing of horses, the braying of donkeys, 00:42:38.75\00:42:41.32 the barking of dogs 00:42:41.36\00:42:42.79 as the dumb creatures of His creation 00:42:42.82\00:42:45.26 tried their best to say, 00:42:45.29\00:42:47.10 'We are glad you've come to see us.' 00:42:47.13\00:42:49.43 Then suddenly it happened. 00:42:49.46\00:42:51.10 The wonderful baby was born. And they called Him Jesus. 00:42:51.13\00:42:54.87 Nobody was there, save Joseph and Mary and the angels. 00:42:54.90\00:42:59.11 Yet, it was the most wonderful event in history. 00:42:59.14\00:43:02.11 All Heaven had waited thousands of years 00:43:02.14\00:43:04.28 for this moment. 00:43:04.31\00:43:05.81 Patriarchs in prophets, 00:43:05.85\00:43:07.35 have longed for it since the dawn of time. 00:43:07.42\00:43:09.92 Yet, nobody was there. 00:43:09.95\00:43:11.32 Nobody knew, nobody cared. 00:43:11.35\00:43:13.86 In His infinite love, 00:43:13.89\00:43:15.22 the Son of God had stepped from heaven to earth 00:43:15.26\00:43:17.53 to take on the likeness of man. 00:43:17.56\00:43:20.30 And the form of a servant. 00:43:20.33\00:43:22.20 There He might be our savior and Redeemer. 00:43:22.23\00:43:24.80 And here He was lying in a manger. 00:43:24.83\00:43:27.64 Here was the all powerful Lord of creation, 00:43:27.67\00:43:29.97 weak and helpless as a little child. 00:43:30.01\00:43:32.67 Here was the all wise King eternal, 00:43:32.71\00:43:35.04 unable to speak a single word. 00:43:35.08\00:43:37.78 Here was a source of all life depended for food upon a girl. 00:43:37.81\00:43:42.05 This was indeed love divine. 00:43:42.08\00:43:44.62 All of excelling joy of heaven to earth come down. 00:43:44.65\00:43:48.26 Don't you wish you could have been there to welcome Him, 00:43:48.29\00:43:51.26 just to say Thank you, dear Lord, 00:43:51.29\00:43:53.76 for such love as this?" 00:43:53.80\00:43:55.36 Amen. Beautiful. Thank you, Honoria. 00:43:55.40\00:43:57.30 Great job. What a great job. 00:43:57.33\00:43:59.07 And that's so fitting. 00:43:59.10\00:44:00.54 It was no accident that He was born in a manger. 00:44:00.57\00:44:03.30 It wasn't like the Creator of the universe 00:44:03.34\00:44:05.74 that He couldn't have had a good place 00:44:05.77\00:44:07.64 but this shows from humble beginnings, 00:44:07.68\00:44:10.55 that none of us no matter who we are, 00:44:10.58\00:44:12.65 we can't say, "Well, yeah, Jesus did okay, 00:44:12.68\00:44:15.32 but He was born with wealthy parents 00:44:15.35\00:44:17.49 or He was born in beautiful home and now, 00:44:17.52\00:44:20.96 I mean, how many of us were born in a stable? 00:44:20.99\00:44:23.12 How many of you were born in your house? 00:44:23.16\00:44:25.69 What? No. 00:44:25.73\00:44:27.10 How about you, Miss. Yvonne. 00:44:27.13\00:44:28.43 No, no. I was born in a hospital. 00:44:28.46\00:44:29.80 I was born in a house 00:44:29.83\00:44:31.30 'cause-- all my brothers were 00:44:31.33\00:44:34.00 'cause we couldn't afford to go to the hospital all time 00:44:34.04\00:44:35.87 we were kind of poor. 00:44:35.90\00:44:37.41 And so we only lived two blocks from the hospital. 00:44:37.47\00:44:40.08 But my mother 00:44:40.14\00:44:42.38 when she was getting ready to deliver, 00:44:42.41\00:44:45.08 shouldn't call one of their sister-in-laws. 00:44:45.11\00:44:46.88 My dad had 12-- 00:44:46.92\00:44:48.35 there's 12 brother and sisters. 00:44:48.38\00:44:49.98 So she'd call some of those. 00:44:50.05\00:44:51.39 One of those, Aunt Mildred had 12 children. 00:44:51.42\00:44:54.49 So when she was getting ready to deliver a baby, 00:44:54.52\00:44:57.49 she would call my mom 00:44:57.53\00:44:58.86 so my mom would go help her deliver. 00:44:58.89\00:45:00.56 Then when my mom was having one 00:45:00.63\00:45:02.33 and one of my Uncle Bud and his family, 00:45:02.36\00:45:04.07 they had eight kids. 00:45:04.10\00:45:05.43 So they all just helped each other. 00:45:05.47\00:45:06.84 The women went and delivered for him, 00:45:06.87\00:45:08.77 and hey, he didn't have to go the hospital. 00:45:08.80\00:45:10.61 Everybody lived. None of us died from that. 00:45:10.64\00:45:13.48 Then my sister, Tammy, 00:45:13.51\00:45:15.01 she's eight years younger to me. 00:45:15.04\00:45:16.38 She was spoiled. 00:45:16.41\00:45:17.75 She got to be born in a hospital. 00:45:17.78\00:45:19.11 But that's okay. 00:45:19.15\00:45:20.52 A little house it's still, still standing in their own, 00:45:20.55\00:45:22.12 812 West Wharton Street, West Frankfort, Illinois. 00:45:22.15\00:45:25.25 It's a humble place 00:45:25.29\00:45:26.62 but not nearly as humble as a stable. 00:45:26.65\00:45:29.16 Now, you know a little bit about stalls and stables. 00:45:29.19\00:45:31.73 How good do they smell, Trin? Not very good. 00:45:31.76\00:45:35.16 Not very good for sure, 00:45:35.20\00:45:37.03 yet, Jesus chose to be born there. 00:45:37.07\00:45:40.30 The Godhead, God the Father, God the Son, 00:45:40.34\00:45:42.60 God the Holy Spirit decided, this is where we're gonna do 00:45:42.64\00:45:46.21 we want no advantage of anyone else on earth 00:45:46.24\00:45:50.11 so we you know, this is where we're gonna be born. 00:45:50.15\00:45:53.58 So it's no accident. 00:45:53.62\00:45:54.95 Why don't you hand this book to Miss. Yvonne 00:45:54.98\00:45:56.85 and Miss. Yvonne, 00:45:56.89\00:45:58.22 maybe you could read a little farther? 00:45:58.25\00:46:01.02 I'm not sure what the next chapter is 00:46:01.06\00:46:02.86 but we'll find out what it is here. 00:46:02.89\00:46:05.46 So to me it's what she's looking for 00:46:05.49\00:46:07.66 it was after the vacancy. 00:46:07.66\00:46:09.06 I think it was that the night of nights. 00:46:09.10\00:46:11.87 But to me in this beautiful that the Son of man, 00:46:11.90\00:46:15.04 Jesus Christ said you know what. 00:46:15.07\00:46:17.41 I don't want any advantages. 00:46:17.44\00:46:19.04 I'm going to come here in human flesh. 00:46:19.07\00:46:21.28 Because we have to understand and may be 00:46:21.31\00:46:23.95 I don't know how much you understand about this. 00:46:23.98\00:46:26.25 But if you think about it that He was God, 00:46:26.28\00:46:31.42 yet He was human. 00:46:31.45\00:46:33.29 In human form. 00:46:33.36\00:46:34.79 That means, when He was young 00:46:34.82\00:46:36.83 and He cut His finger, it hurt, right. 00:46:36.86\00:46:39.89 And yet, the spiritual side of Him says, 00:46:39.93\00:46:44.23 hey, I don't have to do this I don't even have to bleed. 00:46:44.27\00:46:46.70 I can, I could come down. 00:46:46.74\00:46:48.64 But it wouldn't have been a great sacrifice if we say, 00:46:48.67\00:46:51.74 He tells us not to sin and He says, you know, 00:46:51.77\00:46:56.18 to ask Him for forgiveness and don't go sin. 00:46:56.21\00:46:58.98 And then when we do, we'd say well, yeah, 00:46:59.01\00:47:01.72 but Lord, You didn't sin because You were perfect 00:47:01.75\00:47:05.09 and You created you didn't have an advantage. 00:47:05.12\00:47:07.22 Christ could have sinned had He wanted to. 00:47:07.29\00:47:10.16 But He didn't want to. 00:47:10.19\00:47:11.59 He decided to carry the sins of the whole world 00:47:11.63\00:47:14.56 and because of His perfection, it covers our imperfection. 00:47:14.60\00:47:19.67 But in order for that to happen, 00:47:19.70\00:47:21.37 we have to confess our sins to Jesus. 00:47:21.40\00:47:24.34 The Bible says, "If we confess our sins. 00:47:24.37\00:47:26.54 He's faithful and just to forgive us from our sins 00:47:26.57\00:47:29.44 and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." 00:47:29.48\00:47:31.88 So we want those at home and all of you today, 00:47:31.91\00:47:34.32 no matter what you do in life, 00:47:34.35\00:47:36.18 I don't care how bad something you do, 00:47:36.22\00:47:39.09 you're so ashamed, you think it's terrible. 00:47:39.12\00:47:41.56 You wouldn't want anybody to know it. 00:47:41.59\00:47:43.26 Well, Jesus already knows it. 00:47:43.29\00:47:44.63 And you know what, if you repent, 00:47:44.66\00:47:46.73 He's willing to forgive you from whatever that is. 00:47:46.80\00:47:49.56 I think we've got time for "Night of Nights." 00:47:49.60\00:47:51.70 It's gonna be good. Miss. Yvonne is a good reader. 00:47:51.73\00:47:53.90 "Night of Nights." 00:47:53.94\00:47:55.97 "Suppose you've been living in Bethlehem that night 00:47:56.00\00:47:58.44 when Jesus was born. 00:47:58.47\00:48:00.41 What would you have seen and heard? 00:48:00.44\00:48:02.81 Imagine for a moment you're there, 00:48:02.84\00:48:04.65 you and your brother or sister, it's a warm night. 00:48:04.68\00:48:07.82 So you're lying on a bed 00:48:07.85\00:48:09.28 on the roof of a flat topped house. 00:48:09.32\00:48:11.45 The rest of the family is asleep 00:48:11.49\00:48:13.15 but you're awake, 00:48:13.19\00:48:14.52 looking up at the sky trying to count the stars. 00:48:14.56\00:48:17.39 'I never saw so many people in our town,' you say. 00:48:17.46\00:48:21.30 'I wonder how long they'll stay' 00:48:21.33\00:48:22.76 says your brother. 00:48:22.80\00:48:24.17 "Till the taxing is over I suppose." 00:48:24.20\00:48:26.67 Then there's silence for a moment. 00:48:26.74\00:48:28.84 'I've been wondering,' you say. 00:48:28.87\00:48:30.74 'Wondering what?' 00:48:30.81\00:48:32.14 'About what father is been telling us lately. 00:48:32.17\00:48:34.38 You know about the Messiah's coming. 00:48:34.41\00:48:36.75 He says the time is nearly up 00:48:36.78\00:48:39.15 and the all prophecies must be fulfilled soon.' 00:48:39.18\00:48:42.52 'Isn't he coming to Bethlehem?' 'Yes. He's to be born here.' 00:48:42.55\00:48:46.96 The Prophet Micah says so.' 00:48:46.99\00:48:48.72 'I wonder when.' There's a pause. Then a cry. 00:48:48.76\00:48:52.06 'Look at that up there in the sky.' 00:48:52.09\00:48:54.20 'What? Where?' 'The light the beautiful light. 00:48:54.20\00:48:56.93 What can it be?' 'Looks like a star. 00:48:56.97\00:48:59.73 It's right over the inn.' 'No, it isn't.' 00:48:59.77\00:49:02.40 'It's over the stable behind the inn.' 00:49:02.44\00:49:04.81 'What can be happening? Let's go and see.' 00:49:04.84\00:49:07.51 'Quietly now. Don't wake everybody.' 00:49:07.54\00:49:10.21 Silently you both creep downstairs 00:49:10.28\00:49:13.68 across the road and walk toward the end. 00:49:13.75\00:49:16.08 Suddenly you stop. 00:49:16.12\00:49:17.45 For the light seems to have moved outside the town. 00:49:17.52\00:49:20.49 You run past the guards at the gates 00:49:20.52\00:49:22.36 and across the fields to the place 00:49:22.39\00:49:24.26 where the shepherds keep their sheep at night. 00:49:24.29\00:49:26.73 You see a group of men standing open mouthed 00:49:26.76\00:49:29.80 as a glorious being talks to them. 00:49:29.83\00:49:34.14 'Can this be the Messiah you wonder?' 00:49:34.17\00:49:36.74 'Surely not.' 'Then it must be an angel.' 00:49:36.81\00:49:39.91 You hear him saying, 'Fear not for behold 00:49:39.94\00:49:42.34 I bring you good tidings of great joy. 00:49:42.38\00:49:44.91 Which shall be to all people. 00:49:44.95\00:49:47.05 For unto you is born this day in the City of David a Savior, 00:49:47.12\00:49:51.32 which is Christ the Lord.' 00:49:51.35\00:49:53.15 'Did you hear that?' You ask. 00:49:53.19\00:49:56.09 He says Messiah is here. That he has just been born. 00:49:56.12\00:50:00.83 'Listen, the angel is speaking again. 00:50:00.90\00:50:04.13 And there should be a sign on to you.' the angel says. 00:50:04.17\00:50:07.00 'You shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes 00:50:07.04\00:50:10.01 lying in a manger.' 00:50:10.07\00:50:11.67 Suddenly you see a perfectly marvelous sight 00:50:11.71\00:50:14.81 right before your eyes appears a multitude of shining angels 00:50:14.84\00:50:18.68 thousands of them, thousands of them 00:50:18.71\00:50:20.78 all singing together 'Glory to God in the highest. 00:50:20.82\00:50:23.85 And on earth peace. Good will toward men.' 00:50:23.89\00:50:27.62 The whole heavens are flooded with light. 00:50:27.66\00:50:30.63 Everywhere it's as bright as day. 00:50:30.69\00:50:32.89 You can see the rugged mountains all around. 00:50:32.93\00:50:35.56 The awestruck shepherds, the trembling sheep 00:50:35.60\00:50:38.23 and every building in Bethlehem. 00:50:38.27\00:50:40.40 'Oh yes.' And the angels. 00:50:40.47\00:50:42.70 So many angels, all singing their loudest 00:50:42.74\00:50:45.57 as though they've been waiting ages and ages to sing the song. 00:50:45.61\00:50:49.54 'Glory to God, glory to God, glory to God in the highest.' 00:50:49.58\00:50:54.48 The majestic music seems to roll clear around the world. 00:50:54.52\00:50:57.92 And out toward the stars. 00:50:57.95\00:50:59.79 'Glory to God in the highest.' 00:50:59.82\00:51:02.29 Then more gently on earth. 'Peace good will toward men.' 00:51:02.32\00:51:06.26 How tenderly and hopefully they sing these closing words 00:51:06.29\00:51:09.56 of their lovely hymn of praise. 00:51:09.60\00:51:11.77 It is as if they longed to see men everywhere 00:51:11.80\00:51:15.00 welcome their Savior with open arms 00:51:15.04\00:51:17.47 and make Him the Lord of their lives. 00:51:17.51\00:51:19.97 As suddenly as they came the angels disappear. 00:51:20.04\00:51:23.81 Darkness settles again over the fields in the hills. 00:51:23.85\00:51:27.02 You watch the shepherds to see what they will do. 00:51:27.08\00:51:29.62 You hear them say, 00:51:29.65\00:51:30.99 let us now go even unto Bethlehem 00:51:31.02\00:51:33.36 and see this thing which has come to pass, 00:51:33.42\00:51:35.76 which the Lord hath made known and to us. 00:51:35.79\00:51:38.16 'Let's go at once' they all cry. 00:51:38.19\00:51:40.36 And you see them hurrying off toward the city gate 00:51:40.40\00:51:43.06 stumbling over rocks and briars in their haste. 00:51:43.10\00:51:45.67 But getting up and hurrying on, 00:51:45.70\00:51:47.64 eager to tell somebody the great news they've heard. 00:51:47.67\00:51:51.21 You run behind them to see where they will go. 00:51:51.24\00:51:53.84 They pass a sleepy eyed citizen near the end, 00:51:53.91\00:51:56.54 "Was a baby born around here midnight? 00:51:56.58\00:51:58.88 'Tonight?' The shepherd asked. 00:51:58.91\00:52:00.82 'Yes. Down there in the stable.' 00:52:00.85\00:52:02.65 They run on. It's still dark. The dawn is on the way. 00:52:02.68\00:52:06.65 A dim light comes through cracks in the door. 00:52:06.69\00:52:10.56 And what is this, a baby's cry. 00:52:10.63\00:52:12.66 This must be the place. 00:52:12.69\00:52:14.10 They push open the door and peer in. 00:52:14.10\00:52:16.23 You are right behind them. 00:52:16.26\00:52:18.03 At the far end, the man is standing. 00:52:18.07\00:52:20.24 Behind him is a young woman, resting on a pile of straw. 00:52:20.30\00:52:23.97 Beside her in a manger is a baby 00:52:24.01\00:52:26.21 wrapped in swaddling clothes. 00:52:26.24\00:52:28.31 Surely, this must be the baby the angel spoke about. 00:52:28.34\00:52:31.88 And if so He must be the promised Savior, 00:52:31.91\00:52:35.35 Christ, the Lord." 00:52:35.38\00:52:36.75 Isn't that beautiful story? Absolutely incredible story. 00:52:36.79\00:52:40.32 We'll never understand it on this earth. 00:52:40.36\00:52:42.72 The Bible says "I have not seen nor ear heard, 00:52:42.76\00:52:45.79 neither has it entered into the heart of man 00:52:45.83\00:52:48.83 the things that God has prepared." 00:52:48.86\00:52:50.80 So when you go outside, 00:52:50.83\00:52:52.23 Trinity, you got a beautiful horse, right. 00:52:52.27\00:52:54.47 Yeah.
