because they would forgive

Now the interesting part
about that is when Martin Luther

was the pastor of
the Wittenberg church,

were buying the indulgences

upset about this.

So he went to his study
and wrote down 95 bullet points

against the sale of indulgences.

Now here's what
you may not know.

When he nailed
them to the church door,

this is interesting
because he was not desecrated

in the church that
was the place in town

where you would post
things of interest to people.

But they were written in
Latin and no one knew Latin

except the priest
and the educated people.

So he was just
trying to get a discussion

leaders of the church

about why this was wrong.

Someone took them down and
translated them into German

and some German guy
by the name of Gutenberg

perfected the printing press

and they started printing

these in the German language
and sent them all over Europe.

Martin Luther without intending

best-selling author

in Germany almost overnight.

interesting thing because of it,

Catholic it meant,
