Good evening once again and welcome to 3ABN's 00:00:49.34\00:00:52.88 Fall Camp Meeting: Homecoming 2017. 00:00:53.08\00:00:56.55 Every time Irma and I look at 00:00:56.95\00:00:58.29 that open we have to smile 'cause that's our family there 00:00:58.42\00:01:01.46 and those children have grown up 00:01:01.86\00:01:03.22 just a little bit since that was shot. 00:01:03.43\00:01:05.36 And it's amazing to see them grow. 00:01:05.76\00:01:07.93 That little girl that turned around in the car 00:01:08.10\00:01:09.46 is now driving a car. 00:01:09.66\00:01:11.60 So it's very very funny to sort of look back and take 00:01:13.20\00:01:15.50 a trip in the mind back. But we welcome you 00:01:15.70\00:01:18.01 to sadly the last presentation 00:01:18.21\00:01:20.74 for this particular Camp Meeting. 00:01:20.94\00:01:23.45 Some years ago I was sitting in the church 00:01:24.15\00:01:25.95 at Southern University, and after the sermon was 00:01:26.15\00:01:29.85 over a couple came to me and they were so excited 00:01:30.05\00:01:33.02 about their pastor. They were effusive in their praise. 00:01:33.22\00:01:37.66 I had never heard a couple talk so well 00:01:37.86\00:01:42.10 and so long and so lovingly and so glowingly 00:01:42.30\00:01:45.73 about their pastor. I did not know the man. 00:01:45.93\00:01:48.47 I heard the name John Bradshaw, and of course as a pastor 00:01:48.67\00:01:51.51 you are pleased when your ministry is a blessing 00:01:51.71\00:01:54.81 to your members. But they were so "over the top" 00:01:55.01\00:02:00.25 in their praise, and so loving and so long in their praise 00:02:00.45\00:02:05.12 and so bent on... They said: "You've gotta get this 00:02:05.32\00:02:08.92 guy on 3ABN. " 00:02:09.12\00:02:11.56 And so I wrote the name down. 00:02:11.76\00:02:13.26 And before I knew it, their pas- tor became the speaker/director 00:02:13.70\00:02:19.17 for It Is Written. And we began to hear his baritone voice 00:02:19.37\00:02:23.71 with the New Zealand accent preaching the Word of God 00:02:23.91\00:02:28.58 with power. And Danny said that Yvonne 00:02:28.78\00:02:32.38 loved him. He's one of their favorite speakers. 00:02:32.58\00:02:35.15 I must admit also that Irma feels the same way about him 00:02:35.35\00:02:38.45 and I must join that. He is one of my favorite preachers. 00:02:38.65\00:02:41.69 Amen! He is a preacher of the Word. 00:02:41.89\00:02:43.22 He is a good Christian man. 00:02:43.53\00:02:45.23 Husband of one wife, Melissa, 00:02:45.63\00:02:47.66 and father of two children. 00:02:47.86\00:02:50.80 And preacher of the Word 00:02:51.57\00:02:53.20 and just a lovely Christian man. 00:02:53.40\00:02:56.07 And he has a unique ability. If he meets you once, 00:02:56.27\00:02:59.94 he remembers everything about you and your family. 00:03:00.31\00:03:03.65 So if you ever want him to for- get, he's not going to forget. 00:03:03.85\00:03:05.88 If you tell him you have a wife and you have 5 children, 00:03:06.08\00:03:08.82 you name the children. When he meets you a year later 00:03:09.02\00:03:11.22 he will give you the wife's name and all five children. 00:03:11.42\00:03:13.46 And if you're expecting one, he'll probably give you that 00:03:13.66\00:03:15.36 also. But a wonderful gift that he has 00:03:15.56\00:03:19.26 to preach the Word. And he's a real man. 00:03:19.46\00:03:22.63 You know what I mean? He's just a real man in the Lord. 00:03:22.83\00:03:25.27 And so we get to hear him once again. 00:03:25.47\00:03:27.84 And I know - as before - we will be blessed 00:03:28.04\00:03:32.31 as we hear the man of God preach the Word of God. 00:03:32.51\00:03:36.41 Before he comes to us 00:03:36.95\00:03:40.08 I'm going to call one of my best baptisms. 00:03:40.28\00:03:43.75 We baptized many over the years 00:03:43.95\00:03:45.89 but when I got to the Ephesus church one of my first was... 00:03:46.09\00:03:48.42 was Yvonne Lewis. She wasn't doctor then. 00:03:48.62\00:03:52.16 She was singing in the world. 00:03:52.36\00:03:54.23 But when she got baptized she chose to... certain things 00:03:54.46\00:03:58.43 that she and a group of young people stopped singing. 00:03:58.63\00:04:01.07 They wouldn't sing any commercials for alcohol. 00:04:01.27\00:04:03.20 They wouldn't sing any commercials for cigarettes. 00:04:03.41\00:04:05.14 They wouldn't sing any commercials for anything that 00:04:05.34\00:04:07.51 would hurt the body. And so immediately Yvonne - 00:04:07.71\00:04:10.58 upon baptism - they took a financial hit 00:04:10.78\00:04:13.92 because they stopped singing certain kinds of things. 00:04:14.32\00:04:16.79 And so right early on I saw these young people... 00:04:16.99\00:04:19.95 We were all so much younger then. 00:04:20.16\00:04:21.92 I saw these young people 00:04:22.12\00:04:23.86 take the hit in their salary for the Lord. 00:04:25.69\00:04:27.40 They put their money where their mouth is. 00:04:27.60\00:04:29.23 And all of these years she has stood for the Lord 00:04:29.43\00:04:31.47 and now she is here at Dare to Dream and doing 00:04:31.67\00:04:34.00 a wonderful job. She's a great friend of the family 00:04:34.20\00:04:36.44 of Irma and mine and we love her. 00:04:36.67\00:04:38.81 Gonna pray very quickly then Dr. Yvonne Lewis 00:04:39.01\00:04:42.04 and then our preacher of righteousness Pr. John Bradshaw. 00:04:42.24\00:04:45.28 Father God, how we love You and praise You. 00:04:45.48\00:04:48.32 We exalt Your name. 00:04:48.72\00:04:50.35 We thank you for this Camp Meeting. 00:04:50.55\00:04:51.89 We don't know how many more Camp Meetings there will be 00:04:52.09\00:04:54.96 until we see the face of Jesus. 00:04:55.36\00:04:57.13 But we ask for faithfulness 00:04:57.53\00:05:00.43 and fidelity to Your Word. 00:05:00.63\00:05:02.93 Help us, Lord, to stay on the right path. 00:05:03.13\00:05:06.50 Bless now the Word that shall be preached 00:05:06.94\00:05:09.20 with power. May it be "meat in due season" 00:05:09.40\00:05:12.21 to our souls. And we thank you 00:05:12.41\00:05:15.14 for the power of Your Word in Jesus' name, Amen. 00:05:15.34\00:05:19.81 There is a name 00:05:35.16\00:05:38.90 that is so precious. 00:05:39.10\00:05:42.57 A name so wonderful to me. 00:05:42.97\00:05:48.94 A name that's worthy 00:05:49.54\00:05:53.88 of our praises. 00:05:54.08\00:05:56.42 Because of Him 00:05:56.82\00:05:59.75 I am made free! 00:05:59.95\00:06:03.46 And that name is Jesus... 00:06:03.66\00:06:07.03 oh how I love Him! 00:06:07.23\00:06:11.20 The One who gave 00:06:11.40\00:06:14.14 His life for me. 00:06:14.30\00:06:17.81 Because of love 00:06:18.01\00:06:21.48 so unconditional 00:06:21.68\00:06:24.78 I will have life 00:06:24.98\00:06:28.48 eternally. 00:06:28.68\00:06:32.62 His name speaks peace 00:06:48.14\00:06:52.07 into my storm clouds. 00:06:52.87\00:06:56.64 His name speaks calm 00:06:56.85\00:07:00.28 to all my fears. 00:07:00.48\00:07:03.72 And when I think 00:07:03.92\00:07:07.02 that no one loves me 00:07:07.22\00:07:10.99 His loving presence 00:07:11.19\00:07:14.23 is so near. 00:07:14.46\00:07:17.47 And His name is Jesus... 00:07:17.67\00:07:21.07 oh how I love Him! 00:07:21.27\00:07:24.97 The One who gave 00:07:25.17\00:07:28.51 His life for me. 00:07:28.71\00:07:31.61 Because of love 00:07:32.11\00:07:35.48 so unconditional 00:07:35.68\00:07:38.92 I will have life 00:07:39.12\00:07:42.46 eternally. 00:07:42.66\00:07:46.80 Oh praise 00:07:47.13\00:07:50.37 that name; 00:07:50.57\00:07:54.74 praise His holy name! 00:07:55.27\00:08:01.31 Praise that name; 00:08:01.91\00:08:07.82 praise 00:08:08.58\00:08:11.95 that name! 00:08:12.15\00:08:17.56 Someday we'll leave 00:08:17.76\00:08:21.96 this earthly dwelling; 00:08:22.16\00:08:25.63 through time and space 00:08:25.93\00:08:28.87 we all will soar! 00:08:29.07\00:08:33.31 And finally see 00:08:33.51\00:08:36.98 the face of our Jesus 00:08:37.18\00:08:40.35 and praise that name 00:08:40.65\00:08:44.12 forevermore! 00:08:44.32\00:08:48.02 That name is Jesus... 00:08:48.22\00:08:51.83 oh how I love Him! 00:08:52.03\00:08:55.50 The One who gave 00:08:55.80\00:08:59.17 His life for me! 00:08:59.37\00:09:04.71 Because of love 00:09:06.41\00:09:10.71 so unconditional 00:09:10.91\00:09:14.68 I will have life 00:09:14.88\00:09:18.05 eternally. 00:09:18.25\00:09:22.56 Oh, matchless 00:09:22.76\00:09:25.79 is that name Jesus! 00:09:27.13\00:09:30.17 Oh, glorious 00:09:30.53\00:09:34.47 is that name Jesus! 00:09:34.87\00:09:37.41 How wonderful 00:09:38.04\00:09:41.64 is that name Jesus! 00:09:41.84\00:09:45.08 Oh praise 00:09:45.68\00:09:51.69 that name! 00:09:52.02\00:09:58.03 Amen! I'm glad you're here 00:10:15.74\00:10:17.98 and I'm glad I'm here. 00:10:18.18\00:10:19.61 We have another chance to open the Bible 00:10:19.81\00:10:21.15 together and discuss a couple of things. 00:10:21.32\00:10:22.82 What we're going to do 00:10:25.42\00:10:27.42 is carry on our theme: Sacrifice: His and Ours. 00:10:28.62\00:10:34.56 By the way, I'm just going to mention one thing. 00:10:35.03\00:10:36.93 You may know this. If you don't, then good; 00:10:37.13\00:10:38.93 if you do, that's OK too. But I would love for you 00:10:39.13\00:10:41.34 to get a daily devotional that I do. 00:10:41.54\00:10:43.57 If you went to itiswritten.com you would see that right there 00:10:44.07\00:10:46.61 on the front page is our Every Word devotional. 00:10:46.81\00:10:49.74 It's sixty seconds long. I know you think 00:10:49.98\00:10:52.18 I couldn't say anything and get done in 60 seconds. 00:10:52.38\00:10:55.18 But... Sometimes we go nuts and it's two minutes long. 00:10:55.38\00:10:59.15 But it's a minute of power: 00:10:59.55\00:11:01.76 a Bible verse applied to your life, 00:11:01.96\00:11:03.76 an inspirational devotional thought. Good for you 00:11:03.96\00:11:06.06 AND great to share with somebody else 00:11:06.26\00:11:09.20 as an entering wedge, a discussion starter, 00:11:09.40\00:11:12.93 as a blessing to share. So if you're not getting Every Word 00:11:13.13\00:11:16.40 I'd encourage you to do so. 00:11:16.81\00:11:18.94 And I can tell you you'll be really blessed. 00:11:19.14\00:11:21.34 Well now, we're going to go again 00:11:22.04\00:11:24.78 and I'm glad we have this time. 00:11:24.98\00:11:26.31 Let's pray together, shall we? Let's pray 00:11:26.51\00:11:28.68 and expect for the Lord to bless us richly. 00:11:29.08\00:11:31.72 Our Father in heaven, we're glad we've been here 00:11:32.22\00:11:34.02 this weekend... we've been really blessed. 00:11:34.22\00:11:35.69 It is always a blessing at 3ABN Camp Meeting. Always! 00:11:35.89\00:11:40.56 And I just want to pray before I ask You to bless this message, 00:11:41.20\00:11:45.80 message that You would continue to bless the ministry of 3ABN. 00:11:46.00\00:11:49.27 And thank you, Lord, that through this vehicle 00:11:50.17\00:11:52.04 You proclaim the gospel around the world, 00:11:52.24\00:11:54.84 draw people to Yourself. 00:11:55.14\00:11:57.48 Bless the leadership here... the staff here. 00:11:57.65\00:12:00.65 Bless the volunteers... everybody who assists with 00:12:01.05\00:12:04.22 urging this ministry forward: bless them. 00:12:04.42\00:12:06.29 And now we pray as we open Your Word 00:12:07.26\00:12:09.26 that You would speak and that You would be heard. 00:12:10.23\00:12:13.29 We know that You don't rely on faulty humans. 00:12:14.00\00:12:18.80 You don't rely on them. 00:12:19.00\00:12:20.70 You work in spite of them. 00:12:20.90\00:12:22.47 And I would pray that now You wouldn't let the limitations 00:12:22.67\00:12:25.71 of fallen humanity get in the way of what You want to do. 00:12:25.91\00:12:28.51 Speak and be heard, we pray. 00:12:28.91\00:12:31.08 And so we thank you, we love You, 00:12:32.35\00:12:35.35 we ask Your blessing and we pray 00:12:35.95\00:12:39.05 in Jesus' name, Amen. Amen! 00:12:39.25\00:12:43.19 A fellow I find extraordinarily inspirational - 00:12:45.79\00:12:49.36 north of the border you enter Canada - 00:12:50.70\00:12:54.40 and in my mind one of the great Canadians of all time 00:12:54.60\00:13:00.38 was a young fellow named Terry Fox. 00:13:00.58\00:13:04.85 He was born in Winnipeg 00:13:06.15\00:13:09.05 and raised east of Vancouver, British Columbia, 00:13:09.85\00:13:13.99 in a place called Port Coquitlam. 00:13:14.19\00:13:16.39 As a kid he was active. He played soccer; 00:13:17.33\00:13:19.76 he played basketball; he played baseball; 00:13:20.00\00:13:24.03 he played rugby. 00:13:24.23\00:13:26.90 And then it's interesting how this happened. 00:13:28.34\00:13:30.01 He was involved... If I remember correctly, 00:13:30.21\00:13:32.87 he was involved in a kind of auto accident where he 00:13:33.07\00:13:35.18 hurt his leg. 00:13:35.38\00:13:36.91 And that pain just didn't seem to want to go away. 00:13:37.31\00:13:39.38 And so he went to the doctor and had his leg examined 00:13:39.58\00:13:43.35 and it was discovered that at the age of 19 he had something 00:13:43.55\00:13:48.29 called osteosarcoma. 00:13:48.49\00:13:50.33 Cancer. 00:13:50.83\00:13:52.16 Nineteen and active. I told you all of the things that he did. 00:13:52.96\00:13:55.76 And of course, more besides. 00:13:55.96\00:13:57.63 The kid was full of life. 00:13:57.83\00:13:59.50 Cancer. It cost him his right leg... it was removed. 00:14:00.64\00:14:04.04 Lost his leg. 00:14:04.54\00:14:05.87 Hard to keep a good man down the saying says. 00:14:07.58\00:14:09.71 Three weeks after surgery he was walking on an artificial leg. 00:14:09.91\00:14:12.98 In August of 1979 00:14:15.52\00:14:18.59 he ran a marathon in Prince George, BC. 00:14:19.49\00:14:24.49 And then in April of 1980 00:14:25.66\00:14:29.06 he began something called the "Marathon of Hope. " 00:14:29.26\00:14:34.54 Starting in St. Johns, Newfoundland, 00:14:35.37\00:14:39.97 he was going to run all the way across Canada. 00:14:40.94\00:14:43.45 Let this sink in: 00:14:45.38\00:14:46.98 he had lost a what? Leg! Yeah. Pretty important things 00:14:47.18\00:14:51.52 when it comes to running. 00:14:51.72\00:14:53.05 He had learned to run on an artificial leg, 00:14:54.02\00:14:56.56 but honestly... I mean, running... 00:14:56.79\00:15:01.26 He would kind of hop on one leg and then drag his artificial leg 00:15:01.46\00:15:05.00 and hope and drag. And I don't mean to belittle what was 00:15:05.20\00:15:08.50 going on. I'm just trying to explain to you this was... 00:15:08.70\00:15:10.51 this was kind of an ungainly and awkward thing. 00:15:10.71\00:15:12.74 And I don't know how anybody could really do that 00:15:12.94\00:15:15.11 but he did. To the extent as I mentioned he ran a marathon. 00:15:15.31\00:15:18.68 Running a marathon... that's one thing. As a matter of fact, 00:15:18.88\00:15:21.62 running a marathon is amazing. 00:15:21.82\00:15:23.15 How many people here tonight have run a marathon? 00:15:23.22\00:15:25.02 One. 00:15:26.79\00:15:28.46 Really? Actually you have run a marathon? 00:15:29.56\00:15:33.06 Oh... two. And my hand is up just to encourage you. 00:15:33.50\00:15:38.77 I have not run a marathon. 00:15:38.97\00:15:40.30 I would like to. 00:15:43.04\00:15:44.57 You know, I said for the longest time I would like to 00:15:46.24\00:15:48.71 run a marathon. And then I started to get a little older 00:15:48.91\00:15:52.51 and you know I had a problem with my knee. 00:15:52.71\00:15:55.78 And I thought to myself: 00:15:56.65\00:15:58.39 "Thank you Jesus... 00:15:58.79\00:16:00.79 Now I have the perfect excuse. " 00:16:02.49\00:16:04.09 Unfortunately the knee problem cleared up. 00:16:04.69\00:16:08.13 No excuse. 00:16:08.73\00:16:10.37 This brother was going to run 8,000 kilometers. 00:16:10.77\00:16:13.34 Of course, you may not know how far that is. 00:16:13.54\00:16:15.64 That's 5,000 miles 00:16:16.47\00:16:20.68 on one leg and a prosthetic. 00:16:21.31\00:16:24.88 He was going to make that run to raise money for cancer research. 00:16:25.68\00:16:29.35 What he did was: he got to St. Johns, Newfoundland, 00:16:29.55\00:16:32.15 filled up two 1- gallon bottles with water 00:16:32.35\00:16:36.96 from the... I guess the Atlantic. 00:16:37.76\00:16:40.83 He would keep one as a memento and the other he would take 00:16:41.00\00:16:44.23 to Vancouver or thereabouts 00:16:44.73\00:16:47.74 and pour the Atlantic Ocean water into the Pacific Ocean. 00:16:48.14\00:16:52.81 What a fantastic thing he was going to do. 00:16:53.21\00:16:55.08 And so he began to run. He began to run. 00:16:55.71\00:16:58.01 To begin with, not that many people knew who he was 00:16:58.21\00:17:00.85 or what he was doing. 00:17:00.98\00:17:02.32 People didn't show him a lot of respect on the road. 00:17:02.45\00:17:04.32 Some of those roads way out there... they're not great. 00:17:04.49\00:17:06.92 Probably not even made for running. 00:17:07.12\00:17:08.59 But as it turned out, he raised millions and millions 00:17:09.92\00:17:14.40 of dollars... millions. By the time he was done with... 00:17:14.60\00:17:17.07 with the run he raised I think 1.6. Then they held a telethon 00:17:17.27\00:17:22.84 and that jumped up to 10. 00:17:23.04\00:17:25.57 The governments I think of Ontario. Was it Ontario? 00:17:25.77\00:17:27.81 British Columbia and Ontario both kicked in $1 million. 00:17:28.01\00:17:30.38 More money came in. He ended up raising 24, 25, 00:17:30.58\00:17:33.42 26 million dollars. 00:17:33.62\00:17:34.95 Amazing! 00:17:36.55\00:17:38.45 His run ended just outside Thunder Bay. 00:17:39.19\00:17:41.69 He didn't make it all the way. 00:17:41.89\00:17:43.22 The cancer returned. 00:17:43.63\00:17:45.76 Made it impossible for him to run any further. 00:17:46.16\00:17:48.56 He ran for 143 days, 00:17:48.76\00:17:51.27 and during that time including media appearances 00:17:51.47\00:17:54.54 and stops for this and stops for that 00:17:54.74\00:17:56.24 he didn't fool with much of that. 00:17:56.44\00:17:58.51 In 143 days he ran 5,500 kilometers: 00:17:58.71\00:18:01.81 very nearly a marathon a day. 00:18:02.01\00:18:06.65 Wow! For almost five months. 00:18:08.02\00:18:10.32 This was superhuman... absolutely! 00:18:10.72\00:18:13.25 How do you do that? How did Terry Fox do that? 00:18:13.79\00:18:16.42 He did it one step at a time... that's how. 00:18:16.86\00:18:19.49 He didn't have a reverse gear. 00:18:20.03\00:18:22.30 The West Coast of Canada beckoned, and he was going to 00:18:22.50\00:18:26.00 get there even if it killed him. 00:18:26.20\00:18:29.30 Because so famous that you could write a letter to him 00:18:31.14\00:18:33.48 from anywhere in the world. You could address it to 00:18:33.68\00:18:35.38 Terry Fox, Canada, and it would get to him. 00:18:35.78\00:18:40.35 You know how big Canada is? 00:18:40.55\00:18:42.45 It's big! 00:18:43.69\00:18:45.82 Really big... and he was going to run all the way across. 00:18:46.02\00:18:50.66 Why do something so audacious? 00:18:51.33\00:18:56.20 Why... why bite off 00:18:56.70\00:18:59.50 something so big? Why go after that? 00:18:59.70\00:19:02.80 Well he wrote a letter to the Cancer Society of Canada 00:19:03.77\00:19:06.81 in October of 1979 and he said this. 00:19:07.01\00:19:10.68 I'm going to read here the actual quote. 00:19:10.88\00:19:12.91 "I soon realized that that would only be half my quest 00:19:13.11\00:19:18.22 for as I went through the 16 months of the physically 00:19:18.92\00:19:21.79 and emotionally draining ordeal of chemotherapy 00:19:21.99\00:19:25.63 I was rudely awakened by the feelings that surrounded 00:19:26.83\00:19:29.63 and coursed through the cancer clinic. 00:19:29.83\00:19:31.93 There were faces with the brave smiles 00:19:32.73\00:19:35.94 and the ones who had given up smiling. 00:19:37.11\00:19:39.71 There were feelings of hopeful denial 00:19:40.41\00:19:42.44 and the feelings of despair. 00:19:42.84\00:19:45.81 My quest... " Listen... "My question would not be 00:19:46.01\00:19:50.39 a selfish one. " Adidas gave him the running shoes. 00:19:50.59\00:19:54.56 Ford Motor Company gave him a van that they drove. 00:19:54.76\00:19:57.13 His buddy drove the van and they slept in the van. 00:19:57.33\00:20:00.23 Somebody else gave something... Oh, 00:20:01.53\00:20:04.57 Who provided the fuel? I forget. Somebody donated the fuel. 00:20:04.97\00:20:07.60 When anybody said "We'll give you this if you... " 00:20:08.00\00:20:11.61 "No... no... we won't do anything for you. 00:20:11.81\00:20:15.34 This isn't for anyone. 00:20:15.54\00:20:16.91 Even though you might want to give us something really 00:20:16.95\00:20:19.35 rather wonderful for this purpose 00:20:19.55\00:20:22.18 it's for cancer research. 00:20:22.38\00:20:23.99 No one's going to profit from this. " 00:20:24.19\00:20:26.49 Now you know, you wouldn't be surprised 00:20:27.39\00:20:28.96 if he would count up the donations and say: 00:20:29.16\00:20:31.86 "Five dollars for cancer research and a dollar for me. " 00:20:32.06\00:20:33.96 After all, he gave an awful lot. 00:20:34.13\00:20:35.76 I'm not saying he should do that but you wouldn't be surprised! 00:20:35.96\00:20:38.17 He never took money for guest appearances 00:20:38.80\00:20:40.57 on television programs or inter- views or anything like that. 00:20:40.77\00:20:44.04 Nothing! He said: 00:20:44.24\00:20:46.61 "My quest would not be a selfish one. 00:20:47.01\00:20:49.84 I could not leave knowing these faces and feelings 00:20:50.08\00:20:53.55 would still exist even though I would be set free from mine. " 00:20:53.75\00:20:57.25 He was not right about that but he believed he was right. 00:20:57.45\00:21:00.86 He wrote this, and this is what's written on the monument, 00:21:01.22\00:21:03.66 this wonderful monument in British Columbia featuring 00:21:03.86\00:21:06.43 Terry Fox with his one good leg and his prosthetic. 00:21:06.63\00:21:09.60 Lurching, running, you know. 00:21:09.80\00:21:11.77 Fantastic monument. 00:21:11.97\00:21:13.30 It says on the monument: "Some- where the hurting must stop. " 00:21:13.44\00:21:18.01 So this is what he wrote to the Cancer Society. 00:21:19.21\00:21:21.28 "Somewhere the hurting must stop 00:21:21.48\00:21:23.45 that I was determined 00:21:23.65\00:21:25.38 to take myself to the limit for this cause. " 00:21:25.78\00:21:31.19 It would be worth it. I would go through a lot. 00:21:33.36\00:21:35.76 I would hurt; I would struggle; I would be tired... 00:21:35.96\00:21:40.26 worn out. I don't know how you run a marathon a day 00:21:40.46\00:21:42.46 for 143 days. I have no idea. 00:21:42.66\00:21:44.83 But he would have done that and more. 00:21:45.67\00:21:47.74 He didn't make it all the way across Canada. 00:21:47.94\00:21:49.70 He would have... even if it killed him. 00:21:49.94\00:21:51.57 Why? Not for him 00:21:51.77\00:21:53.81 but for the faces on the people in the cancer clinic 00:21:54.91\00:21:58.21 when he would go for chemotherapy treatment. 00:21:58.41\00:22:00.62 On the patients that he would see in the doctor's offices. 00:22:01.02\00:22:04.02 Some of them... remember? Brave. Some of them despairing. 00:22:04.22\00:22:07.99 "SOMEBODY has got to spend themselves for these people " 00:22:08.39\00:22:12.99 Terry Fox said. "Might as well be me. " 00:22:13.19\00:22:15.70 "This is what I will give my life to. 00:22:15.90\00:22:18.03 Yea, verily, this is what I will give my life FOR. " 00:22:18.23\00:22:21.97 A hero if you ask me. 00:22:22.17\00:22:24.81 A hero! Kind of a forgotten hero. 00:22:25.21\00:22:27.71 I hope we never forget him. 00:22:27.91\00:22:29.24 Kind of a forgotten hero. 00:22:29.41\00:22:30.98 "I will do it because somebody must. 00:22:31.38\00:22:33.18 I will do it if it's the last thing I do. 00:22:33.38\00:22:35.15 I will do it if it costs me my life. 00:22:35.35\00:22:37.09 I will do this because when I get it done 00:22:37.29\00:22:40.56 if I help somebody it will be worth it. " 00:22:40.76\00:22:43.63 "If we provide a remedy of some kind it will be worth it." 00:22:44.03\00:22:47.73 "If we fund a break- through in cancer treatment 00:22:47.93\00:22:50.60 it will be worth it. " 00:22:50.80\00:22:52.13 "If some kid somewhere does not have to lose 00:22:52.17\00:22:55.30 his or her leg it will be worth it! " 00:22:55.50\00:22:58.57 "It'll be worth it if I do this. " 00:22:58.77\00:23:00.88 Worth it! Now I want you to stop and think. 00:23:01.01\00:23:03.78 God creates the world. Jesus spoke the world into existence. 00:23:04.18\00:23:08.05 But way back there the Godhead was talking together 00:23:08.45\00:23:11.42 about creation and somewhere it came up 00:23:11.62\00:23:14.62 "You're saying We would give free will to this being 00:23:15.02\00:23:19.23 that We create? " "Yes, that's what We're going to do. " 00:23:19.43\00:23:21.06 "Of course, We're in agreement on this. " 00:23:21.26\00:23:22.63 "Free will? What if that free will is squandered? " 00:23:22.83\00:23:26.70 "What happens then? " 00:23:27.74\00:23:29.44 Well... They thought this through, They did: 00:23:29.84\00:23:32.64 the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. 00:23:32.84\00:23:34.94 And that's when Jesus became the Lamb slain 00:23:36.91\00:23:40.08 from the foundation of the world. 00:23:40.28\00:23:41.95 Way back in... somewhere in the far reaches of eternity. 00:23:42.15\00:23:46.22 Jesus said: "If humanity goes astray, 00:23:46.62\00:23:51.56 should sin come into the world, 00:23:51.76\00:23:54.13 I will go... I will die. " 00:23:54.36\00:23:57.50 We have a hard time imagining what that even means. 00:23:57.67\00:24:00.74 He had been with His Father since eternity. 00:24:00.94\00:24:04.41 There was never a time that the Son and the Father 00:24:04.61\00:24:07.21 had not been together. And He said: "If it comes down to that, 00:24:07.41\00:24:10.15 I will go. " Jesus... omnipresent. 00:24:10.35\00:24:13.92 We understand that when He came down to this earth 00:24:14.12\00:24:15.98 He gave up... He relinquished omnipresence. 00:24:16.28\00:24:19.19 What would that be like? We don't know. 00:24:19.39\00:24:21.69 We can only imagine. 00:24:22.49\00:24:24.46 Jesus said: "If it comes down to it, 00:24:24.66\00:24:27.13 I will go. It will be worth it? " 00:24:27.30\00:24:33.07 Huh? Worth it? 00:24:34.20\00:24:37.07 Have you taken a drive down Main Street? 00:24:37.81\00:24:40.14 Next time you do... look around. 00:24:41.38\00:24:44.11 Look around; look around at who you see. 00:24:44.31\00:24:47.02 You'll see respectable elderly folks 00:24:47.22\00:24:50.15 and you will see young punks 00:24:50.35\00:24:52.19 and you will see everybody in between. 00:24:52.39\00:24:54.59 And then ask yourself: "Would I die for them? " 00:24:55.36\00:24:58.66 "Wait a minute! I don't even know them. " 00:24:58.86\00:25:00.63 OK... "Would I die for them? " 00:25:01.00\00:25:04.07 "What would they do for me? " Good question. 00:25:04.27\00:25:06.53 Would you die for them? "What's in it for me? " 00:25:07.24\00:25:09.47 "Not a lot. " Would you die for them? 00:25:09.87\00:25:12.07 Come on now. Isaiah chapter 53... let's go. 00:25:12.27\00:25:14.41 Isaiah chapter 53 00:25:14.81\00:25:16.88 and we'll pick it up in verse 7. 00:25:17.55\00:25:19.18 Speaking about Jesus. This is the passage 00:25:19.38\00:25:22.08 that that man who was an official in the government 00:25:22.28\00:25:26.59 of Queen Candace of Ethiopia. This is what he was reading. 00:25:26.79\00:25:29.49 He was reading in Isaiah chapter 53 when Philip came 00:25:30.23\00:25:33.60 alongside him you understand. 00:25:33.80\00:25:35.50 And we pick it up in Isaiah 53 verse 7 which says: 00:25:35.90\00:25:38.83 "He was oppressed and He was afflicted 00:25:39.23\00:25:41.20 yet He opened not his mouth. 00:25:41.40\00:25:43.20 He is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, 00:25:43.41\00:25:46.01 and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb - 00:25:46.21\00:25:49.18 or mute - so He openeth not His mouth. " 00:25:49.38\00:25:52.98 Can you imagine? Jesus didn't protest. 00:25:53.18\00:25:55.82 Jesus barely spoke. 00:25:56.22\00:25:58.39 Seven utterances when Jesus went to the cross. 00:25:58.59\00:26:01.46 And what was one of them? "Father, forgive them 00:26:01.66\00:26:05.23 for they don't know what they do. " 00:26:05.43\00:26:07.13 Try and get your head around that. 00:26:07.30\00:26:08.96 Here's Jesus being nailed to a cross by brutes 00:26:09.16\00:26:11.87 and all He does is say: "Father, forgive them. " 00:26:12.27\00:26:16.47 You would've said: "Lord, nuke 'em! " 00:26:16.71\00:26:19.01 "Wipe them out! Kill them! " 00:26:19.21\00:26:21.94 "Can't wait till the resurrection; 00:26:22.14\00:26:23.68 I'm going to make 'em pay! " 00:26:23.88\00:26:25.55 And Jesus said: "Lord, if You would forgive them. " 00:26:26.92\00:26:29.52 "Forgive them. " Can you imagine? 00:26:29.72\00:26:31.32 You know Jesus didn't have to go mutely to the cross. 00:26:31.52\00:26:34.56 He didn't have to go like a lamb... 00:26:34.76\00:26:36.42 like a sheep being taken to the slaughter. 00:26:36.62\00:26:38.73 In Matthew chapter 27 and verse 40 they said: 00:26:39.53\00:26:41.86 "Hey, Thou that destroyest the temple and buildest it in three 00:26:42.06\00:26:44.50 days: save Thyself. If You are the Son of God, 00:26:44.70\00:26:48.74 come down from the cross. " 00:26:48.94\00:26:50.97 Could He have come down? Yes or no? 00:26:51.17\00:26:52.81 Yes He could have come down! 00:26:53.01\00:26:54.58 Could He have called angels to His help? Yes! 00:26:54.78\00:26:57.31 With a thought He could have struck them dead 00:26:57.51\00:27:01.35 but He didn't. Isaiah chapter 53 and verse 8. 00:27:01.55\00:27:04.52 'He was taken from prison and from judgment 00:27:04.72\00:27:06.89 and who shall declare His generation? 00:27:07.09\00:27:09.19 For He was cut off out of the land of the living. 00:27:09.39\00:27:11.49 For the transgression of my people was He stricken. " 00:27:11.69\00:27:14.20 Verse 9: "And He made His grave with the wicked 00:27:14.40\00:27:17.17 and with the rich in His death 00:27:17.37\00:27:19.97 because He had done no violence, 00:27:20.17\00:27:22.57 neither was any deceit found in His mouth. " 00:27:22.87\00:27:25.27 So Jesus - in Whom there was no sin - 00:27:25.47\00:27:28.14 became sin for us. 00:27:28.34\00:27:29.71 Jesus - the only One that you could ever call just - 00:27:29.91\00:27:34.72 was treated like the least just or the most unjust. 00:27:34.92\00:27:38.79 Jesus, perfect and pure, was treated as though He was 00:27:38.99\00:27:41.92 an abject sinner like the off scouring of the earth. 00:27:42.12\00:27:46.46 Crucified! They did that to the BAD ones! 00:27:46.70\00:27:50.33 The ones they want to make suffer. 00:27:50.53\00:27:52.87 "He made His grave with the wicked..." Isaiah wrote... 00:27:53.07\00:27:56.24 "yet it pleased the Lord to bruise Him. " 00:27:56.44\00:27:59.67 "He hath put Him to grief. 00:28:00.91\00:28:03.38 When Thou shalt make His soul an offering for sin 00:28:03.58\00:28:05.61 He shall see His seed. He shall prolong His days 00:28:05.81\00:28:09.95 and the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in His hand. " 00:28:10.15\00:28:12.99 And here we go. 00:28:13.19\00:28:14.52 What drove? We know what drove Terry Fox. 00:28:14.56\00:28:17.46 Terry Fox did what he did because he wanted to raise money 00:28:18.06\00:28:20.63 for cancer research. Maybe... maybe 00:28:20.83\00:28:23.57 he was very clear. "We're not making any promises here 00:28:23.77\00:28:26.57 but we've got to do something. " This is Terry Fox. 00:28:26.77\00:28:28.94 He did what he did for people suffering from cancer. 00:28:29.14\00:28:32.14 He did what he did in the hope that somehow they could find 00:28:32.34\00:28:34.54 a cure. He did what he did be- cause he wanted to help people. 00:28:34.74\00:28:38.48 Jesus went to the cross, 00:28:38.68\00:28:41.28 was nailed through His hands and His feet, 00:28:41.48\00:28:43.79 crown of thorns pressed down on His head. 00:28:43.99\00:28:46.32 Treated like a vile offender. 00:28:46.76\00:28:49.46 Jesus who they spat on; 00:28:49.66\00:28:51.53 Jesus who they beat; 00:28:51.73\00:28:53.43 Jesus who they ridiculed. How would you feel? 00:28:53.63\00:28:57.43 Why would you do that? 00:28:57.80\00:28:59.43 We are told why Jesus did it in the next verse. 00:28:59.63\00:29:02.54 Verse 11: "He shall see of the travail of His soul 00:29:02.74\00:29:08.14 and shall be satisfied. " Amen! 00:29:08.34\00:29:12.15 "By His knowledge shall My righteous Servant justify 00:29:12.35\00:29:14.75 many for He shall bear their iniquities. " 00:29:14.95\00:29:17.05 Jesus went to the cross. He said: "You know why 00:29:17.25\00:29:18.82 I'm doing this? I'm taking your sin 00:29:19.02\00:29:21.09 so that you can have My righteousness. " Amen! 00:29:21.59\00:29:24.86 "I'm going to be treated like you deserve 00:29:25.26\00:29:28.63 so you can be treated like I deserve. " 00:29:29.46\00:29:32.60 Who does that? 00:29:32.80\00:29:34.90 Jesus does that! 00:29:35.87\00:29:37.71 God does that because God is love! Amen! 00:29:37.91\00:29:42.51 What mattered to Jesus was not His own comfort. 00:29:42.71\00:29:47.45 What mattered to Him was that you 00:29:47.65\00:29:50.19 could have the opportunity to be saved. 00:29:50.69\00:29:52.89 Come on, now... think about that. 00:29:53.09\00:29:54.42 God gets a lot of bad press. 00:29:54.49\00:29:56.12 God gets criticized and ridiculed and blamed for 00:29:57.03\00:30:00.80 most all of the ills that take place in this world. 00:30:00.96\00:30:03.77 And what did He do to deserve that? 00:30:04.17\00:30:05.97 Jesus went to a cross to die for wretched men and women 00:30:06.37\00:30:10.77 in the hope that they would accept what He has done 00:30:11.17\00:30:15.88 and be saved so that one day 00:30:16.08\00:30:18.78 Jesus could walk along a street of gold, 00:30:18.98\00:30:20.88 walk up beside you and put His arm around you. 00:30:21.08\00:30:23.49 And He might say: "Hey, I died because of you. " 00:30:23.69\00:30:26.19 But He won't. He might look at the hands and the feet 00:30:27.22\00:30:32.06 and the scars therein and hold them up and say: 00:30:32.26\00:30:35.00 "You did this! " But He won't. 00:30:35.20\00:30:36.83 He might point to the scars around His brow 00:30:37.50\00:30:39.80 and say: "Hey, this is... you did this! " 00:30:40.00\00:30:42.20 But He won't. He'll just be glad that you are there! 00:30:42.40\00:30:45.81 Amen! He did everything He could to save you 00:30:46.01\00:30:49.38 and everything He could to demonstrate to you that 00:30:49.58\00:30:51.75 God is love and God loves you 00:30:51.95\00:30:54.78 and wants you to be in heaven with Him. 00:30:54.98\00:30:56.82 He went through all of that and He said: "It's OK. " 00:30:57.02\00:31:01.16 Amen! "I am satisfied. " 00:31:01.36\00:31:03.83 "Here on the cross My life is draining out of Me 00:31:04.03\00:31:07.10 but it's OK... I am satisfied 00:31:07.30\00:31:10.33 because if I hang in there a moment longer 00:31:10.53\00:31:13.07 the people at Camp Meeting at 3ABN 00:31:13.30\00:31:15.84 in the Fall of 2017 will all leave knowing that they can 00:31:16.04\00:31:20.28 take hold of My hand, take hold of salvation. " 00:31:20.48\00:31:24.05 "Because I hung on a cross they can live. " 00:31:24.25\00:31:27.18 Amen. Amen! What a Savior! 00:31:27.38\00:31:30.15 Amen! Honestly, I struggle with this. 00:31:30.35\00:31:32.59 I try to appreciate it and I find myself 00:31:32.79\00:31:35.99 incapable of doing so. 00:31:36.19\00:31:37.86 On an intellectual level I can. 00:31:38.26\00:31:40.40 Maybe this is why John said in I John 3 and verse 1: 00:31:40.60\00:31:43.40 "Behold what manner of love 00:31:43.80\00:31:45.63 the Father hath bestowed upon us! " 00:31:45.83\00:31:47.50 Maybe you've just got to look at it. 00:31:47.80\00:31:49.94 You've gotta see it; you've gotta let it sink in. 00:31:50.14\00:31:53.71 Jesus went to the cross and He said: "It's OK. " 00:31:53.91\00:31:57.48 "It's worth it because you might be saved. " 00:31:57.61\00:32:02.82 Amen! 00:32:03.02\00:32:05.02 Now if it was worth it for Jesus to go to the cross 00:32:05.95\00:32:11.13 so that many might be justified... 00:32:11.33\00:32:13.50 If it was worth it, what goes through your mind 00:32:13.70\00:32:18.57 when you hear the mission offering being taken up? 00:32:18.97\00:32:23.04 Knowing that we live here in the land that flows with milk 00:32:24.67\00:32:27.38 and Bibles and in other parts of the world... 00:32:27.58\00:32:32.68 I was in Mongolia not that long ago. 00:32:34.08\00:32:36.45 It Is Written has been working on this 00:32:36.65\00:32:40.12 evangelism medical missionary project 00:32:40.92\00:32:44.53 in Mongolia. It's been fantastic. 00:32:44.73\00:32:47.13 But I'm over there and we're in Chinggis Square. 00:32:48.06\00:32:51.23 We call him Genghis Khan; they call him Chinggis Haan. 00:32:51.43\00:32:54.80 Chinggis Square is the big city square... the center place, 00:32:55.00\00:32:58.87 you know. I said: "I want to find something out." 00:32:59.07\00:33:01.98 And so I approached a group of teenagers. 00:33:02.18\00:33:04.51 I don't know, 16 to 18 is what I'm guessing. 00:33:04.71\00:33:07.05 I said: "Have you ever heard of David and Goliath? " 00:33:07.45\00:33:12.52 They looked at each other. 00:33:13.69\00:33:15.02 They giggled nervously as though they didn't really 00:33:15.16\00:33:17.63 understand this man's question. 00:33:17.79\00:33:19.13 "No... no... we've never heard of them. " 00:33:19.19\00:33:21.03 "Have you ever heard of Noah's ark? " 00:33:21.43\00:33:23.13 "No, we've never heard of Noah's ark. " 00:33:23.63\00:33:25.83 "Have you ever heard of the Bible? " 00:33:26.80\00:33:28.74 They all turned to one person. She was evidently the 00:33:29.14\00:33:31.91 erudite one. She said: "Yes, 00:33:32.11\00:33:33.64 yes... the Bible. I believe that is a moral book. 00:33:33.84\00:33:38.08 That it speaks of Jesus. " Well, how about that! 00:33:38.28\00:33:40.88 Other than that, nothing... nothing. 00:33:43.08\00:33:47.62 And the mission offering is taken up 00:33:48.16\00:33:50.39 and we say: "Pass that along to the next person" 00:33:50.59\00:33:56.06 knowing that mission offerings are for people who don't know 00:33:57.20\00:34:00.94 Jesus or barely have an opportunity 00:34:01.10\00:34:04.11 to know Jesus Christ. 00:34:04.31\00:34:06.01 You see, Jesus died and He said: "That was worth it. " 00:34:07.74\00:34:12.08 "That was... " Can you imagine that? 00:34:12.28\00:34:14.68 "It was worth it. " 00:34:14.88\00:34:16.28 How about you get a call to volunteer some place. 00:34:17.32\00:34:20.19 Might even be in the Dorcas or whatever it's called today: 00:34:20.59\00:34:23.29 Community Services. Might be there. 00:34:23.53\00:34:25.89 You might volunteer and say: "Well I don't even know if I 00:34:26.43\00:34:28.56 helped anybody today. " 00:34:28.76\00:34:30.67 Or you might volunteer and say: "Man, that was worth it 00:34:31.53\00:34:34.00 because it gave somebody the opportunity to receive 00:34:34.20\00:34:36.97 the touch of God. " Somebody invites you on a mission trip 00:34:37.17\00:34:39.61 and not everybody can go... I understand that. 00:34:39.81\00:34:41.74 There's a lot of factors involved. 00:34:41.94\00:34:43.31 But did you ever say: "Man, it would be worth it 00:34:44.01\00:34:46.58 to go because we would give somebody the opportunity 00:34:46.78\00:34:50.05 to know Jesus. " Evangelistic meetings. 00:34:50.25\00:34:53.62 Come on now, we ought to be proclaiming the Word of God 00:34:53.82\00:34:56.36 and preaching until we are hoarse 00:34:56.56\00:34:58.46 because somebody is going to hear the Word of God 00:34:59.53\00:35:03.57 and be saved. And you say: "Costs... " 00:35:03.77\00:35:07.04 You know, here's something that's interesting. 00:35:07.24\00:35:08.64 Somebody on a church board is going to say 00:35:09.70\00:35:11.64 "Well, we had an evangelistic series here 20 years ago 00:35:11.84\00:35:16.21 and I don't even know where the people are who got baptized. 00:35:18.31\00:35:22.15 It's probably the brother who ran them off one by one. 00:35:22.35\00:35:24.59 but I don't even know where they are any more. " 00:35:24.79\00:35:26.22 And he says something like: 00:35:28.32\00:35:30.13 "Costs such a lot of money. " 00:35:30.33\00:35:32.66 Church these days... you get good support from the conference 00:35:33.93\00:35:36.56 in most places and the union maybe. 00:35:36.77\00:35:38.57 "Costs a lot of money! " 00:35:39.60\00:35:41.37 "We don't have that kind of money! " 00:35:41.57\00:35:43.41 It may be 5, 10, 15, 20 thousand dollars. 00:35:43.61\00:35:46.84 Could be more. But let's say it was a good sized church 00:35:47.04\00:35:50.11 and they were looking at raising $20,000 to put into evangelism. 00:35:50.31\00:35:53.88 Now I don't know how many people are going to be saved. 00:35:54.28\00:35:55.95 How many people are going to be won to Christ. 00:35:56.15\00:35:57.55 That depends on the work of the Spirit 00:35:57.72\00:35:59.82 and the work of the church. Amen! 00:36:00.09\00:36:02.72 You know, evangelism works. 00:36:02.92\00:36:04.59 When you stop working it stops working. 00:36:04.79\00:36:06.73 And so this fellow had the audacity to say: 00:36:08.33\00:36:10.40 "Man that's a lot of money. How many baptisms are we 00:36:10.60\00:36:12.87 going to get for that? That's a lot of money! " 00:36:13.07\00:36:14.97 And then two nights later 00:36:15.17\00:36:17.34 the brother has a heart attack. Pfflh... on the floor. 00:36:17.54\00:36:21.08 "Ahh... honey, help me. 00:36:21.28\00:36:22.98 Help me; call an ambulance. " 00:36:23.18\00:36:24.71 And she says: "Oh, that's a lot of money! " 00:36:24.91\00:36:28.02 A lot of money. 00:36:31.79\00:36:33.12 "Uhh... I think I need surgery. " 00:36:35.39\00:36:37.93 "Surgery? Surgery! 00:36:38.13\00:36:40.70 That's tens of thousands of dollars! 00:36:40.90\00:36:43.53 How many people are going to be saved 00:36:43.73\00:36:45.70 if we spend $20,000 on you? " 00:36:45.90\00:36:47.90 "One. " "Not enough! " 00:36:49.74\00:36:51.74 Amen! 00:36:55.74\00:36:57.55 Not enough! Listen: our communities are screaming 00:36:57.75\00:37:03.18 at us: "We must be saved; 00:37:03.42\00:37:05.99 we must be saved. " 00:37:06.19\00:37:07.52 You see riots in the streets; you see demonstrations. 00:37:07.72\00:37:11.09 You see arguments; you see crime. 00:37:11.29\00:37:13.26 The murder rate is now ticking up. 00:37:13.46\00:37:15.83 Crime, unrest... however you want to measure it. 00:37:16.97\00:37:20.34 And you say: "Oh, we have racial tension. 00:37:20.54\00:37:23.10 Oh, we have social problems. 00:37:23.30\00:37:26.01 Oh, we have socioeconomic disparity. 00:37:26.21\00:37:28.84 Oh, we have... " Yes, yes, yes. While those things are true 00:37:29.04\00:37:32.08 what's the underlying cause? The underlying cause 00:37:32.28\00:37:34.82 is there is a great controversy raging. 00:37:35.02\00:37:38.02 Amen! When you see crazy stuff going on in your 00:37:38.22\00:37:40.99 community, that is your com- munity. Say: "We need Jesus! " 00:37:41.19\00:37:45.99 Amen! "We need your church 00:37:46.19\00:37:48.83 to come into this community and help us know the way. " 00:37:49.03\00:37:52.27 And we're going to say: "Oh, how much is that going to cost? " 00:37:52.47\00:37:55.34 I'm not advocating wastefulness. 00:37:55.64\00:37:58.01 I'm advocating priorities. 00:37:58.41\00:38:00.61 And our priorities as a people under God 00:38:00.81\00:38:03.61 is to reach people for the kingdom. 00:38:03.81\00:38:06.88 And when one person is saved 00:38:07.08\00:38:08.88 we see of the travail of ourselves 00:38:09.08\00:38:11.75 and we are satisfied! Two: hallelujah! 00:38:11.95\00:38:15.52 A hundred? Amen! 00:38:15.72\00:38:17.36 Two hundred? It doesn't matter, does it? 00:38:17.56\00:38:19.39 We are to be about our Father's business 00:38:19.59\00:38:21.46 because people are dying and going to hell - 00:38:21.66\00:38:24.47 at least ultimately - every day! 00:38:24.67\00:38:26.84 Christless graves every day. 00:38:27.80\00:38:30.14 Young people... I want to speak to young people. 00:38:30.34\00:38:32.84 You think: "What am I going to do when I leave school? " 00:38:33.71\00:38:35.68 "Well, I'm going to work in IT. That's where the action is. " 00:38:35.88\00:38:38.68 Good... good. "I'll be a lawyer. " 00:38:38.88\00:38:40.72 Great. "A physician. " Amen! 00:38:40.92\00:38:42.82 "A designer, an architect, an engineer, 00:38:43.02\00:38:45.22 a teacher, a nurse... " Whatever it might be. 00:38:45.42\00:38:47.26 Those are good. 00:38:47.46\00:38:48.79 I am not the voice of the Spirit of God and I am not 00:38:49.89\00:38:51.96 telling you how God is calling you, but I appeal to you 00:38:52.16\00:38:55.03 to think about dedicating your life 00:38:55.23\00:38:58.03 to a life of ministry. I appeal to ya. 00:38:58.23\00:39:01.50 Where are the young men who were saying: "I'm off to school 00:39:01.90\00:39:04.14 to study to be a minister. " 00:39:04.34\00:39:05.67 Where are the young people who are saying: "I'm going to go 00:39:05.71\00:39:07.61 and give my life to a mission enterprise. " 00:39:07.81\00:39:09.84 And whether it's a life or a part of a life 00:39:10.08\00:39:12.88 where are the...? I'm certain they exist. 00:39:13.08\00:39:15.42 Many... of course they do. 00:39:15.62\00:39:17.22 I want to tell you when you get involved in ministry 00:39:17.62\00:39:19.49 you see God work. Man, that's where you see God work. 00:39:19.69\00:39:21.96 We hold our SALT evangelism training school 00:39:22.36\00:39:24.69 at It Is Written. We hold it on the campus of 00:39:24.89\00:39:26.73 Southern Adventist University. 00:39:26.93\00:39:28.23 Young people of all ages come through there every year. 00:39:28.50\00:39:30.77 It's a fantastic program! 00:39:31.13\00:39:32.83 And those four months - man! change a person's life. 00:39:33.23\00:39:38.24 We do not have a culture 00:39:39.24\00:39:43.35 of service and soul winning. 00:39:43.55\00:39:45.18 We should! 00:39:45.51\00:39:46.92 We do not have that culture. 00:39:47.05\00:39:49.15 We have a culture of going to church. 00:39:49.35\00:39:50.79 But our culture must be a culture of saving others. 00:39:52.19\00:39:58.09 Reaching out to others... sharing our faith. 00:39:58.29\00:40:00.73 A culture of evangelism. 00:40:00.93\00:40:02.96 One of our SALT students was walking out, walking around 00:40:03.83\00:40:06.40 the other night. It was dark. He said: "I'm going to take 00:40:06.60\00:40:07.94 a walk. " He was walking and out of the shadows 00:40:08.10\00:40:10.47 emerged this young man. 00:40:10.67\00:40:12.44 "Oh, hello. How ya doin' man? " 00:40:12.64\00:40:14.61 "I've been trying to contact my mother but my phone is not 00:40:14.81\00:40:17.31 working. " Our friend said: "Hey, use my phone. " 00:40:17.51\00:40:19.91 He calls his mother five times or so. 00:40:20.32\00:40:22.25 He can't get through. And this young fellow 00:40:22.45\00:40:24.19 gets this bright idea: "Hey, I can drive you to your house. " 00:40:24.39\00:40:27.42 Well you don't know who this guy is. 00:40:28.79\00:40:30.59 Ax murderer? He doesn't have a clue. 00:40:30.96\00:40:33.19 "I'll drive you to your house. " "Man, would you do that? 00:40:34.23\00:40:35.90 It's like six miles away. " 00:40:36.10\00:40:37.43 "Hey, that's only 10 minutes. Absolutely. " 00:40:37.63\00:40:40.87 He ran back to where he was staying. 00:40:41.04\00:40:42.40 You know, and he goes: "Wait a minute! 00:40:42.60\00:40:44.34 I'm a SALT student; I've been looking for a Bible study. 00:40:44.54\00:40:47.68 Maybe this is the brother. " 00:40:47.88\00:40:49.21 So he takes his first It Is Written Bible study 00:40:49.24\00:40:51.25 "Can God Be Trusted? " "Ah, I'm going to ask him. " 00:40:51.45\00:40:54.62 They get in the car together. 00:40:54.82\00:40:56.15 They're driving along. "Man, how do I? " 00:40:56.18\00:40:58.55 "Man, would you be interested in studying the Bible? " 00:40:58.95\00:41:01.76 "Yeah... yeah, I'd be interested in that. 00:41:05.53\00:41:08.00 That'd be great! " 00:41:08.20\00:41:09.53 "Man, I've drifted so far from God I've been wondering 00:41:10.03\00:41:12.67 about my life. " They pull up at the brother's house. 00:41:12.87\00:41:15.07 His mother just happens to be in the driveway. 00:41:15.27\00:41:17.07 They get out; they start talking to the mother. 00:41:17.47\00:41:18.94 The mother's saying: "I'm so glad he met you. 00:41:19.14\00:41:20.84 He needs good friends; you seem like a nice kid. 00:41:21.04\00:41:22.94 Thank the Lord. " "Did you say church? " "Yes. " 00:41:23.14\00:41:25.48 "Why don't you take my son to church this weekend? " 00:41:25.68\00:41:27.98 "You want to come? " "Sure. " 00:41:28.95\00:41:30.39 Just like that... just like that. 00:41:30.59\00:41:33.92 See, if he had not entered into this groove 00:41:34.72\00:41:37.89 of service and soul winning he would wander through life 00:41:38.09\00:41:41.56 saying: "Can God really use me? " 00:41:41.76\00:41:43.70 We don't see the Holy Spirit in our lives enough 00:41:44.53\00:41:48.10 'cause we don't do enough 00:41:48.50\00:41:50.04 that requires the Holy Spirit to show up! 00:41:50.24\00:41:52.64 Huh? When you get involved in soul winning 00:41:52.84\00:41:57.21 man, you see what happened. 00:41:57.41\00:42:00.42 Powerful! 00:42:00.75\00:42:02.15 If your life is all about money, you've got problems. 00:42:02.35\00:42:05.65 Now if your life leads you to money, 00:42:05.85\00:42:07.56 praise the Lord. That's all right. 00:42:07.69\00:42:09.59 But if a young person or ANY person 00:42:10.33\00:42:13.40 is looking into the future and your primary goal is 00:42:13.60\00:42:15.80 what you can get... Imagine if Jesus' primary goal 00:42:16.00\00:42:18.40 was what He could get! 00:42:18.60\00:42:20.14 Get? He was here to give! 00:42:20.34\00:42:23.37 "God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, " 00:42:23.57\00:42:26.94 Amen! They nailed the hand... 00:42:27.14\00:42:29.28 They nailed the hand to the cross and Jesus stretched out 00:42:29.48\00:42:32.68 His other hand and placed it on the wood. 00:42:32.88\00:42:34.82 "Is that right? "Yeah, right... you've got it. " 00:42:35.02\00:42:37.45 They didn't force His legs into place. 00:42:38.42\00:42:40.16 He stretched them out. He came to give! 00:42:40.36\00:42:42.66 He gave His life a ransom for many. 00:42:42.86\00:42:45.23 If you are turned on by material things, 00:42:45.53\00:42:47.36 if that's what you're after, 00:42:47.56\00:42:49.50 one day you may end up being like the rich young ruler. 00:42:49.70\00:42:52.13 He discovered the only thing... Can you imagine Jesus 00:42:52.67\00:42:55.94 saying to you: "If you do this one thing, 00:42:56.14\00:42:58.44 you've got it. " And he said: "Oh, man, yes! " 00:42:58.64\00:43:00.98 What if Jesus said that to you? 00:43:01.18\00:43:02.68 You would swallow razor blades if Jesus asked you to. 00:43:02.88\00:43:05.91 If that's what... "Just do that and you'll be saved. " 00:43:06.11\00:43:09.65 Jesus said: "Just sell what you have, That's all. " 00:43:10.62\00:43:12.55 And he said: "Mmm... 00:43:12.75\00:43:14.32 price too high. " Can you imagine? 00:43:15.59\00:43:19.86 He was very rich. 00:43:20.30\00:43:21.60 He had "many goods" one translation says. 00:43:22.16\00:43:24.60 It ought to say: "He had many gods" 00:43:24.80\00:43:26.57 because that's all they were: they were gods. 00:43:26.80\00:43:28.77 Jesus came to this world for the purpose of seeking 00:43:29.47\00:43:32.77 people to save. 00:43:32.97\00:43:34.34 What are you in this world for? 00:43:34.54\00:43:35.98 I'm transitioning off of young people now, but I want to 00:43:36.91\00:43:38.85 reiterate what I just said. If you are young people... 00:43:39.05\00:43:40.92 If you are a "young people" looking in the... 00:43:41.12\00:43:44.42 I've been living in Tennessee for a while now. 00:43:46.55\00:43:48.39 If you are a young people and you're looking out 00:43:54.13\00:43:56.70 into the future, invite God into the center of it. 00:43:56.90\00:44:00.14 It doesn't mean that He's going to take you to some far off 00:44:00.34\00:44:03.00 country on your own to live in privation. 00:44:03.20\00:44:05.24 But it might... and if that's what your future is 00:44:05.44\00:44:08.04 it will be the best future you can even imagine 00:44:08.24\00:44:10.78 if that's God's will. 00:44:10.98\00:44:12.61 And if God wants you to go be a brain surgeon 00:44:13.01\00:44:15.32 and earn a gazillion dollars praise the Lord! 00:44:15.52\00:44:17.62 That'd be great if that's God's will. 00:44:17.82\00:44:20.16 If it's not God's will you will never be happy. 00:44:20.36\00:44:22.99 Jesus could have come to this earth and become a 00:44:23.66\00:44:25.76 "gazillionaire. " A big businessman. 00:44:25.96\00:44:28.66 A scientist... a leader. He could have been a leader 00:44:28.86\00:44:31.40 in Israel. They said: "You... we're going to take You 00:44:31.60\00:44:34.10 and put you on the throne. " He said: "Wouldn't that be great 00:44:34.24\00:44:36.91 to be the ruler. But nah, that's not My mission. 00:44:37.11\00:44:40.44 I'm here to die. " "What? " 00:44:40.64\00:44:42.41 "I'm here to die. " "You can't be serious! " 00:44:42.61\00:44:44.75 "I will see of the travail of my soul 00:44:44.95\00:44:47.38 and be satisfied... SATISFIED! 00:44:47.58\00:44:50.85 That's what will bring Me joy. " 00:44:51.02\00:44:52.55 "Dying will bring Me joy 00:44:52.75\00:44:54.16 because by dying you will have life. " 00:44:54.36\00:44:57.09 And that's what Jesus was all about. 00:44:57.29\00:44:58.86 Amen! How about we get that enthusiastic about the mission 00:44:59.06\00:45:01.73 that He has entrusted to us? 00:45:01.93\00:45:03.37 We can see of the travail of our souls 00:45:03.77\00:45:06.33 and be satisfied. You get working for Jesus 00:45:06.53\00:45:08.47 you see miracles, man... miracles. 00:45:08.67\00:45:10.74 Let me share a little miracle story with you. 00:45:11.14\00:45:12.77 We were filming that 500 series I've been telling you about. 00:45:13.27\00:45:15.81 You're going to watch it on 3ABN late October 00:45:16.01\00:45:18.15 nine nights straight. Don't miss it. 00:45:18.35\00:45:19.71 So we were in Ireland at the cliffs of Moher. 00:45:20.62\00:45:23.02 We'd done a program about Patrick who wasn't a Reformation 00:45:23.42\00:45:26.15 reformer but a reformer before the Reformation time. 00:45:26.35\00:45:29.49 Very very influential man. 00:45:29.69\00:45:31.53 Responsible for the spread of Christianity 00:45:32.03\00:45:34.00 through the British Isles. 00:45:34.20\00:45:36.03 And so we were at the cliffs of Moher. 00:45:36.53\00:45:39.63 Magnificent. They get up to about... Oh, what is it? 00:45:39.83\00:45:42.97 Seven hundred feet tall? Is it 1,100? I don't know. 00:45:43.17\00:45:45.27 Hundreds of feet tall. Beautiful stark cliffs 00:45:45.47\00:45:48.91 on the west coast of Ireland not too far from Galway you see. 00:45:49.11\00:45:52.31 You can see the Aran Islands out there in the distance. 00:45:52.51\00:45:55.12 Oh, it's so beautiful! 00:45:55.32\00:45:56.95 And so I did my little thing and speaking to the camera 00:45:57.45\00:46:00.22 and we did all of that. And then I was done 00:46:00.42\00:46:02.92 but the boys wanted to get some footage with the drone. 00:46:03.12\00:46:05.69 And so I said: "Well, you've got it so I'm going to just 00:46:06.66\00:46:09.90 walk up here and walk along the cliffs. " 00:46:10.30\00:46:11.93 And so I'm out there having a happy time 00:46:12.13\00:46:14.24 not knowing what's going on back there. 00:46:14.40\00:46:15.97 Here's what they did. They wanted to film the cliffs 00:46:16.17\00:46:18.74 and then film the sun as it was kind of sinking into the sea. 00:46:18.94\00:46:23.24 And then they'll turn the drone around and come back towards 00:46:23.45\00:46:26.28 the coast of Ireland and get these spectacular shots 00:46:26.48\00:46:29.45 of the cliffs of Moher. 00:46:29.85\00:46:31.19 And so that's what they did. 00:46:31.45\00:46:32.79 Now you know on your cell phone 00:46:32.92\00:46:35.06 my battery says 86%. 00:46:36.16\00:46:38.93 86. Next it will say? 85. 00:46:39.13\00:46:43.97 And after that? 84. That's how it goes. 00:46:44.17\00:46:47.20 Now, on these drones they have a battery meter 00:46:47.40\00:46:50.81 so you can see how much power is in the drone. 00:46:51.01\00:46:53.74 They fly it out. They're a mile off shore. 00:46:53.94\00:46:56.54 A mile. They turn it around 00:46:56.75\00:46:58.68 and they're flying it into stiff headwinds. 00:46:58.88\00:47:01.02 Didn't realize what that would do to the battery. 00:47:01.42\00:47:03.62 So the batteries are like 55%. That's no problem. 00:47:04.02\00:47:07.69 Should go to 54 except... phumm... 00:47:07.82\00:47:10.96 it drops to 45. It's still a mile off shore. 00:47:11.09\00:47:15.46 Flying into the wind - strong wind - it drops now from 45 00:47:16.26\00:47:19.40 to like 37. Phumm. 00:47:19.60\00:47:21.14 I'm thinking: "We are seeing a trend developing here 00:47:21.94\00:47:24.47 and if we don't arrest the trend 00:47:26.04\00:47:28.31 we're going to lose the drone. " Here's what happens when the 00:47:28.51\00:47:30.65 drone gets to 5% it lands. 00:47:30.85\00:47:34.12 Lands gently... it just circles down automatically. 00:47:35.05\00:47:39.32 Five percent. It doesn't keep on flying because 00:47:39.52\00:47:41.86 not long after five is zero 00:47:42.06\00:47:44.16 and that way it just drops like a rock. 00:47:44.36\00:47:46.80 And so at 5... So now it's at 37. 00:47:47.50\00:47:50.03 31... 26... 18. 00:47:50.23\00:47:52.77 "Oh my goodness! " My friend Matt 00:47:52.97\00:47:55.77 turns to Zack. He says: "Zack, we've got to pray. " 00:47:55.97\00:47:57.64 Zack said: "I'll pray. " They began to pray "Lord! 00:47:57.84\00:48:00.04 We don't want to lose this drone. " 00:48:00.24\00:48:01.81 You know, if you lose a drone you can replace a drone. 00:48:02.01\00:48:03.98 Ouch... but you can replace a drone. 00:48:04.18\00:48:06.21 But if you lose a drone over the ocean you lose the footage 00:48:06.61\00:48:09.75 as well. It's on that little memory card. 00:48:09.95\00:48:12.05 It goes into the drink. No one's going in after it. 00:48:12.25\00:48:15.12 A day's work would have gone down the drain. 00:48:16.09\00:48:18.49 And we don't build our filming schedule with days to spare man. 00:48:18.89\00:48:22.96 Rest days... we've got them scheduled 00:48:23.16\00:48:25.20 in heaven. That's... then. 00:48:25.40\00:48:28.17 But when we're in the field we're there to work. 00:48:28.37\00:48:30.51 So now the drone is at 15%. 00:48:30.71\00:48:32.84 It's at 11%... there's no way it's going to make it. 00:48:33.04\00:48:35.81 It gets to 7%. Matt is flying this thing; he's looking at 00:48:36.01\00:48:39.08 Zack. He's praying. 5%. 00:48:39.28\00:48:42.18 4%. 00:48:44.92\00:48:46.25 3%. 00:48:47.09\00:48:48.49 This thing is just flying right towards the coast 00:48:48.69\00:48:50.83 like it's plugged into the wall. 00:48:50.99\00:48:52.93 At 5% it's supposed to do what? Supposed to land. 00:48:55.06\00:48:59.10 It gets to zero percent. 00:48:59.50\00:49:01.84 It's still like a quarter of a mile. Quarter of a mile! 00:49:02.24\00:49:05.04 Quarter of a mile off the coast. 00:49:05.24\00:49:07.01 Zero. He's looking at the gauge. "Wow, is this a mistake? " 00:49:07.21\00:49:09.91 Zero... and it flies way up above the water. 00:49:10.11\00:49:15.08 They are praying: "Don't let it drop; don't let it drop, Lord. " 00:49:15.28\00:49:17.42 It's not going to land gently now, it's just going to pflumh. 00:49:17.62\00:49:19.85 And they're praying and they're praying and they're praying 00:49:20.99\00:49:22.96 and it's flying. And then it makes it above the land! 00:49:23.16\00:49:25.59 And they're like: "Hallelu... wait.. 00:49:25.99\00:49:27.93 we don't want it to drop now. 00:49:28.10\00:49:29.83 It'll land on the concrete and we'll have a jigsaw puzzle. 00:49:30.07\00:49:32.97 We'll have to go looking for the card with the footage on it. " 00:49:33.37\00:49:35.87 They got it over the grass; they brought it in to land. 00:49:36.57\00:49:39.57 They brought it in to land; it landed like a feather, 00:49:39.77\00:49:43.18 gently on the grass. 00:49:43.38\00:49:44.71 I didn't know that God was that interested in drones! 00:49:44.91\00:49:47.88 But I'm sure glad He was in- terested in our drone that day. 00:49:49.65\00:49:52.52 We got out of there praising the Lord! 00:49:53.15\00:49:55.76 God is good! If I wasn't working with a team of guys who said 00:49:56.16\00:49:59.76 "I should have gone to Hollywood... " 00:50:00.00\00:50:01.43 Literally, they could have gone to Hollywood and got jobs. 00:50:01.63\00:50:04.13 Instead they said: "We are going to work in a Christian 00:50:04.33\00:50:07.50 organization serving God. " Amen! 00:50:07.70\00:50:09.84 They got to see miracles. That's a miracle, man! 00:50:10.07\00:50:12.81 I know you're thinking Lazarus getting raised from the dead. 00:50:13.21\00:50:15.74 I understand. Same God; same power; 00:50:15.94\00:50:18.98 different manifestation. We were grateful; thank the Lord. 00:50:19.18\00:50:22.58 You see miracles when you work for God. Miracles! 00:50:22.78\00:50:25.65 You can get to the end of your life and say: 00:50:25.95\00:50:27.52 "Well maybe I never owned a condo by the sea 00:50:27.69\00:50:30.89 but I got to work with Jesus! " 00:50:31.06\00:50:32.76 And maybe you can work with Jesus AND own a condo 00:50:32.96\00:50:35.46 by the sea. I don't know. 00:50:35.66\00:50:37.00 We were in Boston, MA, conduct- ing an evangelistic series. 00:50:37.83\00:50:40.70 Working with a team of young people who had given themselves 00:50:41.54\00:50:43.97 to serving God. 00:50:44.17\00:50:45.57 They were involved in full-time ministry. 00:50:45.97\00:50:48.51 Young people. Two of them go to a door. 00:50:48.71\00:50:51.65 They knock on the door. 00:50:51.85\00:50:53.65 A lady whom I will call Kathy answered the door. 00:50:53.85\00:50:56.72 They speak to Kathy, ask the questions. 00:50:57.45\00:51:00.09 "Doing a community survey... would you be interested in 00:51:00.29\00:51:03.19 spiritual things? " "Yes. " "Would you like Bible studies? " 00:51:03.43\00:51:05.93 "Love them. " "How's Tuesday? " 00:51:06.13\00:51:08.86 "Great! " Here's what they didn't know. 00:51:09.06\00:51:11.13 Just a couple of weeks before Kathy, who had an awful 00:51:11.53\00:51:14.34 childhood, had an unfortunate marriage, 00:51:14.54\00:51:18.01 decided that her life was no longer worth living. 00:51:20.38\00:51:22.64 She went to the hardware store and purchased everything 00:51:22.84\00:51:24.98 she figured she would need to end her life. 00:51:25.18\00:51:27.12 I don't know what that was and I didn't ask. 00:51:29.02\00:51:30.75 She came back to her apartment, got it set up so that when 00:51:31.79\00:51:34.32 she perished there wouldn't be a terrible mess for anyone 00:51:34.52\00:51:36.32 to clean up. She said: "Yeah, this is it. 00:51:36.52\00:51:39.73 This is the day I check out. " 00:51:39.96\00:51:41.26 She sat down just to reflect 00:51:41.36\00:51:44.67 and the cats jumped up on her. 00:51:44.87\00:51:46.50 Started rubbing against her like crazy, 00:51:46.70\00:51:48.60 like they never did. She said: "What is this? " 00:51:48.80\00:51:51.01 "Maybe... maybe God is trying to tell me something. " 00:51:51.41\00:51:54.31 Then she reflected. Suicide, she thought. 00:51:54.71\00:51:56.91 Suicide? She was raised a Catholic. 00:51:57.11\00:51:59.45 She said: "I know that that's not pleasing to God. 00:51:59.65\00:52:01.85 Maybe I shouldn't do this. 00:52:02.45\00:52:03.79 Maybe I shouldn't do this. " 00:52:03.99\00:52:05.32 She cleaned up the apartment and not long after those two 00:52:05.72\00:52:08.19 young ladies were knocking at her door. 00:52:08.39\00:52:09.96 A couple of days before she was baptized she told me 00:52:12.36\00:52:14.56 her story. She wiped away tears with the palms of her hands. 00:52:14.76\00:52:17.80 She told me this story. She told me about her past. 00:52:18.90\00:52:21.40 She told me about the plan to end her life. 00:52:21.60\00:52:24.17 And then she looked up at me and with tears streaming down 00:52:25.67\00:52:28.64 her face she said: "But you people loved me! " 00:52:28.84\00:52:31.91 Oh, come on now... isn't that great? 00:52:32.11\00:52:34.28 And I love the fact she didn't say: "But you 00:52:34.45\00:52:36.18 people indoctrinated me. " 00:52:36.38\00:52:37.72 "You people told me the truth. " 00:52:37.89\00:52:39.22 "You people helped me see the error of my ways. " 00:52:39.35\00:52:41.26 "But you people loved me. " 00:52:43.19\00:52:44.96 In fact, helping somebody understand the Bible: 00:52:45.16\00:52:46.80 that's loving them. 00:52:47.00\00:52:48.30 But these were people who invested themselves in her life. 00:52:48.90\00:52:51.93 They became friends; they became helpers. 00:52:52.33\00:52:54.34 They became transportation; they became a support system. 00:52:54.54\00:52:58.71 "But you people loved me! " 00:52:58.91\00:53:01.61 Can you believe that? Amen! Praise the Lord! 00:53:01.81\00:53:05.05 Why are we here? There is a great controversy raging. 00:53:05.45\00:53:08.55 It's RAGING! 00:53:08.75\00:53:10.89 Filming in Italy - in Rome - 00:53:11.75\00:53:15.82 I went into St. Peters. 00:53:16.02\00:53:17.36 You walk into St. Peters... my goodness, what a building! 00:53:17.83\00:53:20.30 On the left hand side there's a giant statue high and lifted up. 00:53:20.50\00:53:23.47 The next statue over: Ignatius of Loyola. 00:53:23.67\00:53:27.20 He's holding the spiritual exercises or something about 00:53:27.97\00:53:31.57 the Jesuit order under his arm and he's got his foot 00:53:31.77\00:53:35.01 on a sprawled-out Protestant. 00:53:35.21\00:53:37.01 And then you go to the mother church of the Jesuit order 00:53:40.12\00:53:42.42 not in the Vatican but only a mile or so away. 00:53:42.62\00:53:44.85 It's called The Church of the Jesu... Church of Jesus. 00:53:45.05\00:53:48.36 On the front wall outside 00:53:50.03\00:53:52.49 there's a middle door and then a side door and a side door 00:53:52.69\00:53:55.30 on the front. Above those side doors 00:53:55.50\00:53:57.30 Ignatius Loyola with his foot on a sprawled-out Protestant. 00:53:57.50\00:54:01.07 What message do you think Rome is sending you? 00:54:02.74\00:54:05.21 Go inside. The statue of Ignatius is magnificent 00:54:06.24\00:54:11.11 in and of itself. But next to it there's a statue 00:54:11.31\00:54:14.85 featuring Mary, and before Mary, falling backwards, 00:54:15.05\00:54:19.32 are two men: Martin Luther and I thought it was John Calvin. 00:54:19.52\00:54:24.13 The names aren't there but it may be John Hus. 00:54:24.33\00:54:26.36 Two Protestants that she is casting down from heaven. 00:54:26.56\00:54:29.50 She has in one hand what appears to be a lightning bolt 00:54:31.20\00:54:36.77 and in the other hand a cross and she's casting them down. 00:54:37.17\00:54:40.44 Their writings are visible. 00:54:41.34\00:54:43.24 You can see books if you look really really closely. 00:54:43.45\00:54:46.35 In good light with a good lens you can see 00:54:46.55\00:54:48.85 on the edge of one book it says Martin Luther. 00:54:49.05\00:54:50.95 On the edge of another book it says John Calvin. 00:54:51.32\00:54:53.32 On the edge of another book it says Huldrych Zwingli 00:54:53.92\00:54:56.26 and there is a little angel tearing the pages out of 00:54:56.46\00:55:00.83 Zwingli's writings. Now there's some question 00:55:00.96\00:55:03.47 as to whether that's a Bible the angel is tearing pages out of 00:55:03.67\00:55:06.50 or not, but on the spine of the book it now says 00:55:06.74\00:55:08.84 Huldrych Zwingli if you look closely. 00:55:09.04\00:55:10.97 There's a great controversy going on. 00:55:13.17\00:55:14.94 What is? You know what? 00:55:15.14\00:55:18.75 The devil is planning; the devil gets his minions together. 00:55:19.15\00:55:24.19 Again, you see trouble in the world today. 00:55:24.55\00:55:26.42 It's because the devil is plot- ting and scheming and active... 00:55:26.62\00:55:29.19 actively engaged. You know he KNOWS 00:55:29.39\00:55:31.46 that he's going to the lake of fire. 00:55:31.66\00:55:32.99 He knows that... he's read the scriptures. 00:55:33.03\00:55:34.40 Then when he's standing in the lake of fire 00:55:35.26\00:55:37.33 and looks around he shall see the travail of his soul 00:55:37.53\00:55:40.10 and shall be satisfied. 00:55:40.30\00:55:41.67 Or maybe dissatisfied that he didn't get one more. 00:55:42.70\00:55:45.01 But he'll know that because of him all of these 00:55:45.41\00:55:47.38 are not going to heaven they're going to hell. 00:55:47.58\00:55:49.21 "Sorry God... You didn't get these ones... 00:55:50.21\00:55:52.51 I got 'em! " 00:55:52.71\00:55:54.08 And that's what he's playing for. 00:55:54.12\00:55:56.65 That's what he's playing for. 00:55:56.85\00:55:58.19 When I see those statues I say to myself: 00:55:58.89\00:56:00.69 "Man, the devil... he's not fooling around. " 00:56:00.89\00:56:02.86 Rome is sending you a message today. 00:56:03.06\00:56:05.09 "If you are a Protestant, this is what we think of you 00:56:05.29\00:56:08.50 and we tear the pages out of your writings. " 00:56:08.90\00:56:11.57 "We're after you; we want to bring you back to Rome, 00:56:11.77\00:56:14.80 and if we can't bring you back to Rome... " 00:56:15.00\00:56:16.34 As the Bible says: "There is a time of trouble 00:56:17.94\00:56:20.11 coming such as never was since there was a nation. " 00:56:20.31\00:56:22.28 You look now at the way the Protestant churches 00:56:23.14\00:56:24.95 are coming back to Rome. The Lutheran church in America 00:56:25.15\00:56:28.15 is signing agreements with the church of Rome 00:56:28.35\00:56:29.95 saying now: "We have very little that divides us. 00:56:30.19\00:56:33.49 Most of the disagreements from 500 years ago 00:56:33.69\00:56:36.02 we have set to one side. " Remarkable... remarkable. 00:56:36.22\00:56:39.86 Remarkable! Jesus is coming back soon. 00:56:40.90\00:56:45.27 We're getting closer and closer. 00:56:45.47\00:56:46.80 We're getting closer and closer. 00:56:46.84\00:56:48.17 No man knows the day or the hour 00:56:48.20\00:56:49.54 but we're getting closer and closer. 00:56:49.64\00:56:50.97 Whatever you see going on in the world around you today 00:56:51.27\00:56:53.64 it says we are getting closer and closer. 00:56:53.84\00:56:55.94 We just are! 00:56:56.14\00:56:57.51 And look at us. Next time you look in the mirror 00:56:58.35\00:57:00.18 you're going to say to yourself: "I'm getting closer. " 00:57:00.38\00:57:02.28 Jesus died. Why? He beheld the travail of His soul 00:57:04.42\00:57:07.42 and He was satisfied. 00:57:07.62\00:57:10.59 Come on, now. You do something for Jesus 00:57:10.79\00:57:12.53 you can be satisfied. Represent Jesus in the world. 00:57:12.73\00:57:15.36 Be satisfied. Get involved in mission and outreach 00:57:15.56\00:57:17.73 and evangelism and ministry. 00:57:17.93\00:57:19.37 Be satisfied. Share Jesus with somebody. 00:57:19.57\00:57:22.84 And when you see someone in heaven... 00:57:23.04\00:57:25.24 in heaven who says "thank you" 00:57:25.44\00:57:27.08 on that day you too can be satisfied. 00:57:27.28\00:57:30.68 Amen! Come on, we're going to pray together now. 00:57:30.88\00:57:35.05 We're going to pray: Our Father in heaven, 00:57:35.25\00:57:37.19 we are thankful today 00:57:39.29\00:57:40.96 because You have called us to a life not of inactivity 00:57:43.12\00:57:46.33 but a life of service. 00:57:46.53\00:57:47.86
