When we were in Russia, 00:01:24.71\00:01:27.18 Pastor Bradshaw, it was the same thing. 00:01:27.38\00:01:29.72 So all of you from around the world, just get your Sabbath 00:01:29.92\00:01:33.12 School quarterly. We are going to have an 00:01:33.32\00:01:36.39 incredible Sabbath School today. Haven't you enjoyed 00:01:36.59\00:01:39.49 the book of Galatians? Amen! And you know, it's been exciting 00:01:39.69\00:01:43.67 and learned so much. And then next quarter 00:01:43.87\00:01:46.97 we're looking at the book of Romans. 00:01:47.17\00:01:48.64 So I'm looking forward to that as well. 00:01:48.90\00:01:50.77 Before we start our Sabbath School 00:01:51.17\00:01:53.88 I would like to introduce the panelists. 00:01:54.08\00:01:56.34 First we have to my left Brian Hamilton. 00:01:56.54\00:01:59.58 Brian, it's so good to have you here. 00:01:59.78\00:02:01.58 Good to be here. And John Dinzey. 00:02:01.78\00:02:04.19 Good to have you here. It's a great blessing to be here. 00:02:04.39\00:02:07.72 Jill Morikone. Thank you so much. It's a privilege 00:02:07.92\00:02:10.93 to open up God's Word and share together. 00:02:11.13\00:02:13.23 And everybody knows our Pastor John Bradshaw. 00:02:13.43\00:02:16.43 Pastor Bradshaw, it's so good to have you here. 00:02:16.63\00:02:18.27 Thanks, Mollie. Good to be here. Happy Sabbath. 00:02:18.47\00:02:19.97 Well Happy Sabbath to you. 00:02:20.17\00:02:21.57 Before we go into the lesson 00:02:22.40\00:02:24.51 I would like for us to open in prayer. 00:02:24.71\00:02:26.21 Now we prayed. I would almost say that 00:02:26.41\00:02:28.58 every one of you have already prayed this morning. 00:02:28.78\00:02:31.11 But I'm going to ask John Dinzey if he will please 00:02:31.51\00:02:34.08 to open in prayer this morning. 00:02:34.28\00:02:35.78 Let us pray. Our loving heavenly Father, 00:02:35.98\00:02:40.12 we thank you so much, Lord, that today 00:02:40.89\00:02:43.49 You have blessed us with the breath of life. 00:02:43.89\00:02:46.29 We thank you that we can come before You in Jesus' name 00:02:46.76\00:02:49.86 and we pray that You will bless us as we study together. 00:02:50.27\00:02:53.30 We ask for Your Holy Spirit to give us the words to speak 00:02:53.80\00:02:57.27 and we pray that in all things Your name may be glorified 00:02:57.47\00:03:00.44 and Your children edified here and around the world. 00:03:00.84\00:03:05.08 We ask for this in Jesus' name, Amen. 00:03:05.28\00:03:08.52 Amen. So if you have your quarterly 00:03:08.72\00:03:11.45 turn to the 14th lesson and also you with your Bibles 00:03:11.65\00:03:15.82 turn to Galatians and we're going to start 00:03:16.02\00:03:18.76 in the 6th chapter. 00:03:18.96\00:03:20.80 Now our memory text is Galatians 6:14. 00:03:21.00\00:03:24.77 And something that is our custom 00:03:25.17\00:03:27.67 is that we all read our memory text together. 00:03:27.87\00:03:31.07 So will you join with us, please? 00:03:31.27\00:03:33.07 It's Galatians 6:14. Let's read that together. 00:03:33.27\00:03:36.75 "But far be it from me to boast 00:03:37.15\00:03:40.38 except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ 00:03:40.58\00:03:44.62 by which the world has been crucified to me 00:03:44.82\00:03:48.89 and I to the world. " 00:03:49.09\00:03:51.29 You know, before we start into Sunday's portion 00:03:51.49\00:03:55.53 of the lesson I wanted to just kind of give us a little 00:03:55.73\00:03:58.90 foundation of why Paul wrote this letter to the... 00:03:59.10\00:04:03.74 or wrote this letter which is what we know 00:04:03.94\00:04:08.24 as the book of Galatians. 00:04:08.44\00:04:09.81 Now remember: Paul is the apostle to whom? 00:04:10.11\00:04:13.65 To the Gentiles. 00:04:14.52\00:04:16.02 Now Paul had been to a province, an area 00:04:16.22\00:04:19.62 known as Galatia. 00:04:19.82\00:04:21.92 And so he had established... It doesn't say how many churches 00:04:22.42\00:04:25.93 he had established in this area. 00:04:26.13\00:04:28.53 We know at least probably two or three and possibly more. 00:04:28.73\00:04:31.67 And Paul was an apostle. Now here is what an apostle does. 00:04:32.20\00:04:36.40 An apostle, builds, establishes, and then leaves. 00:04:36.91\00:04:42.04 Now what Paul had done was he had built, 00:04:42.48\00:04:45.31 he had established, he had appointed. 00:04:45.51\00:04:47.52 As his custom was he would appoint elders or leadership 00:04:47.72\00:04:50.59 in those churches and then he would be about 00:04:50.79\00:04:53.42 the Lord's business. He would go to establish churches 00:04:53.62\00:04:57.26 in other areas of the world. 00:04:57.46\00:04:59.19 So now, in the church there at Galatia 00:04:59.59\00:05:02.16 something started happening. 00:05:02.36\00:05:04.13 There were men that were coming 00:05:04.63\00:05:08.37 and they were teaching heresy. They were called Judaizers. 00:05:08.57\00:05:13.17 Now knowing Paul's temperament 00:05:13.58\00:05:15.84 do you think this set well with him? 00:05:16.04\00:05:18.18 It upset Paul to no end 00:05:19.01\00:05:21.62 that these men were coming in and teaching heresy. 00:05:21.82\00:05:26.25 Now here's what they were teaching: 00:05:26.45\00:05:28.42 they were teaching that these Gentile believers 00:05:28.82\00:05:32.99 couldn't be members of the church. They couldn't obtain 00:05:33.19\00:05:36.26 salvation unless on top of accepting the Lord Jesus Christ 00:05:36.46\00:05:42.40 as their Lord and Savior they were? Circumcised. 00:05:42.60\00:05:47.58 They were adding to the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ 00:05:47.78\00:05:53.55 a portion of the law: 00:05:53.95\00:05:55.92 the law of being circumcised. 00:05:56.12\00:05:58.25 Now this upset Paul to no end. 00:05:58.45\00:06:02.69 And so Paul... remember this was a long time ago. 00:06:03.09\00:06:06.86 And so the way Paul had to deal with this, 00:06:07.06\00:06:09.13 the only way he could deal with this... 00:06:09.33\00:06:10.77 he couldn't just hop a plane and fly to Galatia 00:06:10.97\00:06:13.77 and get these things straightened out. 00:06:13.97\00:06:15.80 What did he have to do? 00:06:16.00\00:06:17.47 He had to write a letter! 00:06:17.87\00:06:19.21 And thank goodness, was Paul a prolific letter writer. 00:06:19.57\00:06:23.45 Now I kind of likened this to Danny Shelton. 00:06:23.85\00:06:28.68 I use him as an example quite often. 00:06:28.88\00:06:31.59 But Danny built and established 00:06:31.79\00:06:34.09 Three Angels Broadcasting Network 00:06:34.29\00:06:35.92 with the understanding that we would present a message 00:06:36.12\00:06:40.03 that would counteract the counterfeit: the undiluted 00:06:40.23\00:06:44.00 three angels' messages. 00:06:44.20\00:06:46.07 That is what this ministry was built and established 00:06:46.27\00:06:50.17 to proclaim. So let's just say 00:06:50.37\00:06:52.61 that Danny has to go somewhere else in this world 00:06:52.81\00:06:57.15 and do other work for the kingdom of God. 00:06:57.35\00:07:00.15 And he turns 3ABN on and what does he see? 00:07:00.35\00:07:04.29 Somebody teaching heresy. 00:07:04.69\00:07:06.92 Now do you think that's going to sit well with Danny? 00:07:07.42\00:07:09.52 No! Now what's Danny gonna do? 00:07:09.72\00:07:11.69 He's going to hop a plane! 00:07:12.09\00:07:13.63 Paul couldn't hop the plane so he wrote this letter. 00:07:14.43\00:07:17.80 Danny wrote a book, though! 00:07:19.63\00:07:22.50 Paul wrote letters... Danny does write books. 00:07:22.70\00:07:25.81 He's written some incredible books as a matter of fact. 00:07:26.01\00:07:28.34 So Paul viewed this heresy as an attack on the very 00:07:28.91\00:07:33.72 essence of the gospel itself. 00:07:33.92\00:07:36.12 Because what the Judaizers were saying: 00:07:36.58\00:07:39.92 the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ plus something. 00:07:40.12\00:07:43.16 Now, what does it take to become a child of the Living God? 00:07:43.66\00:07:48.20 The blood of the Lord Jesus Christ! 00:07:48.70\00:07:50.20 What Christ wrought out for us at Calvary and nothing else. 00:07:50.40\00:07:54.44 Paul was incensed and he knew he had to respond 00:07:55.17\00:07:59.04 so he wrote the letter. 00:07:59.44\00:08:01.24 Now, these writings of Paul: were they effective? 00:08:01.64\00:08:05.15 They're so powerful and effective 00:08:05.98\00:08:08.78 that even the great Reformer... 00:08:08.98\00:08:11.32 Who is the great Reformer, Pastor Bradshaw? 00:08:11.52\00:08:14.12 Well there were many, but the great great Reformer 00:08:14.62\00:08:16.16 would be Martin Luther. Martin Luther! 00:08:16.36\00:08:18.16 What was he reading when he came to the realization 00:08:18.36\00:08:22.56 or the understanding of justification by faith? 00:08:22.76\00:08:25.73 What book? Well, in particular he was reading Romans 00:08:25.93\00:08:28.30 and he was also reading Galatians. Um-hmm. 00:08:28.50\00:08:30.37 Luther was reading Romans when that verse leapt off the page 00:08:30.67\00:08:34.04 at him. It came back to him as he was walking on his knees 00:08:34.24\00:08:36.75 up Pilate's staircase: "the just shall live by faith. " 00:08:36.95\00:08:39.21 So Luther was a New Testament man 00:08:39.71\00:08:42.72 and his time spent in the gospel... 00:08:43.22\00:08:46.39 You know, imagine life without Luther... 00:08:46.59\00:08:49.22 where we'd be today. Someone's going to say there was 00:08:49.42\00:08:51.59 another Luther. But imagine the church today 00:08:51.79\00:08:54.26 without that contribution. We'd be in an altogether 00:08:54.46\00:08:56.23 different place. Yes. And the message of 00:08:56.43\00:09:00.34 righteousness by faith. It's very important 00:09:00.54\00:09:03.67 to the Seventh-day Adventist church, is it not? 00:09:03.87\00:09:06.34 That's the foundation. It's foundational. 00:09:06.54\00:09:08.78 And because of Martin Luther grasping this great truth 00:09:09.18\00:09:14.42 the whole world has changed. It'll never be the same. 00:09:14.62\00:09:17.92 And we thank the Lord for that and we thank the Lord 00:09:18.32\00:09:21.02 for this letter. And I just wanted to give you a little 00:09:21.22\00:09:24.03 foundation as to why Paul was writing this letter. 00:09:24.23\00:09:27.60 Now the portion of the scripture that they are allowing me 00:09:28.10\00:09:30.93 to address today is Sunday's portion. 00:09:31.13\00:09:33.34 And it's Paul's own hand, so I want you to... 00:09:33.54\00:09:37.24 Again, we're in Galatians chapter 6 00:09:37.44\00:09:41.38 and we're looking at Paul's own hand. 00:09:42.44\00:09:45.88 Paul would dictate a letter to a scribe. 00:09:46.28\00:09:49.92 The scribe would actually write the letter 00:09:50.32\00:09:52.99 but something that Paul did was at the closing of the letter 00:09:53.19\00:09:57.43 he would always write a portion of the letter 00:09:57.63\00:10:01.33 from himself. So Galatians 6:11 says 00:10:01.53\00:10:05.50 "See with what large letters I have written to you 00:10:05.90\00:10:10.61 with my own... " What? "with my own hand. " 00:10:10.81\00:10:14.54 So you know, in looking at this 00:10:14.94\00:10:17.25 evidently he had written it large. And because we haven't 00:10:17.45\00:10:22.65 seen it personally with our eyes 00:10:22.85\00:10:25.09 or he didn't go on to explain that, you wonder 00:10:25.29\00:10:29.02 why exactly he was writing it in large letters. 00:10:29.22\00:10:32.33 But how many of you text? 00:10:32.73\00:10:34.70 Or even do e-mail? 00:10:35.10\00:10:37.27 When you put something in caps, what does that mean? 00:10:37.67\00:10:41.17 You want people to pay attention. 00:10:42.17\00:10:44.44 It's kind of like yelling with the typewriter. 00:10:44.84\00:10:47.64 So I'm going to say that for Paul to say 00:10:48.04\00:10:51.98 "Look what large letters I am using here" 00:10:52.18\00:10:54.65 it was because he was saying: "Pay attention! 00:10:55.05\00:10:57.55 I want you to look at this! " 00:10:57.95\00:10:59.69 Now Paul wrote 13 of the books of the New Testament. 00:10:59.89\00:11:04.93 How many books are in the New Testament? 00:11:05.33\00:11:06.93 Twenty seven. So he was a prolific writer. 00:11:09.53\00:11:14.40 So in the books of the New Testament 00:11:14.90\00:11:18.61 his closing remarks in these thirteen books 00:11:19.01\00:11:22.41 aren't always the same 00:11:22.61\00:11:24.28 but they're usually quite similar. 00:11:24.48\00:11:26.95 However, in his closing remarks in the book of Galatians 00:11:27.15\00:11:31.45 there are two significant differences 00:11:31.85\00:11:34.16 and I wanted to go over those differences. 00:11:34.32\00:11:36.76 The first significant difference is: 00:11:36.96\00:11:39.79 in the other letters he's very personable. 00:11:40.00\00:11:44.07 His closing remarks address specific individuals. 00:11:44.27\00:11:48.14 However, in the book of Galatians 00:11:48.54\00:11:50.94 he's polite but formal. 00:11:51.34\00:11:53.21 Now think about this: when you're polite but formal 00:11:53.61\00:11:56.21 that's not a lot of warmth going on, is it? 00:11:56.71\00:11:59.71 So you ask yourself: why would Paul be 00:12:00.05\00:12:03.75 polite but formal? The fact that those converts 00:12:03.95\00:12:08.79 that he had labored so diligently with 00:12:08.99\00:12:12.73 were turning - the way he words it is: "to a different gospel. " 00:12:12.93\00:12:17.97 Now that... he... Again Paul... Paul was a little... 00:12:18.47\00:12:22.90 he could be a little feisty, could he not? 00:12:23.10\00:12:25.64 And so he was seeing that these people 00:12:26.17\00:12:29.84 he had labored so diligently with 00:12:30.05\00:12:32.68 were turning to another gospel. 00:12:32.88\00:12:34.22 So go to Galatians the first chapter. Turn in your Bible 00:12:34.25\00:12:37.75 to Galatians the first chapter. Let's look at verses 00:12:37.95\00:12:41.66 six through eight. Galatians 1:6-8. 00:12:41.86\00:12:45.49 Paul says: "I marvel that you... " 00:12:45.89\00:12:50.17 Now he's talking to these believers there at Galatia... 00:12:50.37\00:12:53.77 "I marvel that you are turning away so soon 00:12:53.97\00:12:57.31 from Him who called you in the grace of Christ 00:12:57.51\00:13:00.88 to a... " What does he call that? 00:13:01.08\00:13:04.25 "a different gospel which is not another. 00:13:04.41\00:13:07.92 But there are some who trouble you and want to pervert 00:13:08.52\00:13:11.95 the gospel of Christ. But even if we 00:13:12.15\00:13:15.49 or an angel from heaven preach any other gospel to you 00:13:15.89\00:13:20.23 than what we have preached to you 00:13:20.43\00:13:22.66 let him be... " What's that word? 00:13:22.86\00:13:24.73 "let him be accursed. " 00:13:24.93\00:13:26.40 I love the Amplified Bible. I study out of that. 00:13:26.60\00:13:29.97 There was a time when I only quoted the King James. 00:13:30.17\00:13:33.64 But I started studying the Amplified Bible 00:13:33.84\00:13:36.44 so guess what started happening? 00:13:36.64\00:13:38.38 I started trying to quote the King James 00:13:38.78\00:13:40.85 and I would get King Amplified in there. 00:13:41.05\00:13:43.99 You just... whatever you see... What you behold you become. 00:13:44.19\00:13:47.86 So what I was studying that's what I started quoting. 00:13:48.06\00:13:51.19 So the word accursed: here is the definition 00:13:51.39\00:13:55.26 out of the Amplified Bible. 00:13:55.46\00:13:56.93 The word accursed... "let him be accursed... " 00:13:57.97\00:14:00.30 Anathema, devoted to destruction, 00:14:00.50\00:14:03.84 doomed to eternal punishment. 00:14:04.04\00:14:06.01 So what is Paul pronouncing on these Judaizers 00:14:06.21\00:14:10.15 that are coming to try to give another gospel 00:14:10.35\00:14:15.52 or this heresy to these men and women 00:14:15.72\00:14:18.75 there in the churches at Galatia 00:14:18.95\00:14:20.29 that he has labored so diligently over? 00:14:20.32\00:14:22.92 He is saying: Anathema, doomed to eternal punishment. 00:14:23.12\00:14:27.13 Anathema means a ban or a curse solemnly pronounced 00:14:27.33\00:14:32.97 by ecclesiastical authority 00:14:33.17\00:14:35.37 and accompanied by excommunication. 00:14:35.57\00:14:38.71 And you know, in this time 00:14:39.21\00:14:41.08 if you were excommunicated what that spoke to you was 00:14:41.28\00:14:44.41 you had no hope of heaven. 00:14:44.61\00:14:46.18 So Paul is serious about 00:14:46.68\00:14:49.58 these men that were coming and teaching this heresy. 00:14:49.78\00:14:53.56 Not only does Paul say that 00:14:53.76\00:14:56.22 "anathema... let him be accursed" in verse 8 00:14:56.42\00:14:59.39 he repeats it then in verse 9. 00:14:59.59\00:15:03.13 Paul's strong sense of justice is coming through 00:15:04.10\00:15:07.44 loud and clear. "The Word and the Word only. " 00:15:07.64\00:15:10.77 Is that what Paul was saying? 00:15:10.97\00:15:12.84 "The Word and the Word only. " 00:15:13.04\00:15:14.94 That would be sola scriptura. How many of you 00:15:15.14\00:15:17.98 hold with that? Sola scriptura! 00:15:18.18\00:15:21.02 The Word and the Word only. 00:15:21.22\00:15:22.98 It doesn't matter what your traditions teach 00:15:23.39\00:15:26.92 nor what your experience may have been, 00:15:27.12\00:15:30.69 sola scriptura... correct doctrine is all that matters. 00:15:31.39\00:15:36.70 Correct doctrine always takes precedence. 00:15:36.90\00:15:41.04 Paul cares about these deceived believers. 00:15:41.54\00:15:44.84 Were the believers in Galatia listening to this deception? 00:15:45.04\00:15:50.18 Some of them were falling into this deception. 00:15:50.68\00:15:53.45 He cares about these believers. 00:15:53.65\00:15:55.78 He does all he knows to do to get their attention. 00:15:56.79\00:16:00.72 Now the second thing that's different in this letter: 00:16:00.92\00:16:04.09 his final words are usually just closing remarks. 00:16:04.49\00:16:09.56 In this letter he continues beseeching these believers 00:16:09.96\00:16:14.30 in Galatia to turn from their foolish ways. 00:16:14.50\00:16:17.37 And he says he was doing it again 00:16:17.77\00:16:20.88 with those large letters. 00:16:21.08\00:16:22.94 He wanted these wayward Galatians to return 00:16:23.35\00:16:26.65 to correct doctrine and lay aside their heresies. 00:16:26.85\00:16:30.82 Even in the very closing of the letter 00:16:31.32\00:16:34.69 he once again addresses the issue that is so strongly 00:16:34.89\00:16:40.46 on his heart. Look at verse 15. 00:16:40.66\00:16:43.50 He says: "For in Christ neither... " What? 00:16:43.70\00:16:46.33 What is that word? 00:16:46.53\00:16:47.87 "In Christ neither circumcision nor uncircumcision 00:16:47.90\00:16:52.74 availeth anything but a new creation. " 00:16:52.94\00:16:56.38 The Word and the Word only. It doesn't matter... 00:16:57.85\00:17:01.48 Let me say this again: 00:17:01.68\00:17:03.39 Ladies and gentlemen: it doesn't matter 00:17:03.79\00:17:06.52 what our traditions teach us. 00:17:06.72\00:17:09.12 It doesn't matter what we may have experienced. 00:17:09.52\00:17:12.93 If it's contradicting the Word of God, 00:17:13.13\00:17:15.80 it's not the truth. Amen! 00:17:16.00\00:17:18.53 The Word is the truth. Anything that contradicts 00:17:18.73\00:17:21.87 the Word of the Living God is a lie, 00:17:22.07\00:17:24.31 and the lie - in light of the truth of God's Word - 00:17:24.51\00:17:28.01 will fall to the ground how often? Every time 00:17:28.21\00:17:31.88 in light of the Word. Sola scriptura. 00:17:32.08\00:17:34.45 This Word and the Word only. 00:17:34.65\00:17:36.55 Pastor Hamilton. OK. 00:17:36.95\00:17:39.15 Well. I have Monday's, and Monday's study 00:17:40.02\00:17:45.89 along with Tuesday's was on the subject of boasting. 00:17:46.70\00:17:50.37 Boasting in two different things, though. 00:17:52.00\00:17:54.47 Boasting in the flesh versus boasting in the cross. 00:17:55.44\00:18:01.18 And I believe Bro. Dinzey' s got the boasting in the cross. 00:18:01.71\00:18:05.28 You've got the better one. 00:18:05.48\00:18:06.92 I have the boasting in the flesh subject. 00:18:08.42\00:18:11.02 There were two different motives we'll find out 00:18:11.22\00:18:12.95 as we study these two days. 00:18:13.15\00:18:15.46 The boasting in the flesh motive 00:18:16.39\00:18:18.36 was a selfish motive. 00:18:18.56\00:18:20.40 The boasting in the cross 00:18:20.60\00:18:22.66 was a motive of love. 00:18:22.86\00:18:24.77 Two different motives; two different subjects of boasting. 00:18:24.97\00:18:29.17 So let's look at the text for Monday 00:18:29.57\00:18:33.51 and that's found in Galatians chapter 6 verses 12 and 13. 00:18:33.71\00:18:38.65 And by the way, this is the part of the book of Galatians 00:18:39.61\00:18:43.35 where Paul is wrapping things up. 00:18:43.55\00:18:46.12 And his normal practice in his letter as he wraps things up 00:18:47.02\00:18:51.43 is to be a bit "warm and fuzzy. " 00:18:51.63\00:18:53.73 You know, "Tell Sister So and So... you know, tell her 00:18:54.13\00:18:57.00 Hi or give her my love. " 00:18:57.20\00:18:58.53 Or: "I'm thinking of Bro. So and So. " 00:18:58.57\00:19:00.40 And you know, he ends his letters with... 00:19:00.60\00:19:04.24 with "warm fuzzies" you would say. 00:19:04.44\00:19:07.31 With expressions of love. 00:19:07.51\00:19:08.98 But Galatians he started out hard-hitting 00:19:09.18\00:19:13.62 and he doesn't end lightly either. 00:19:14.02\00:19:17.79 And so there isn't the "warm fuzzies" that you would normally 00:19:18.19\00:19:21.36 see in his letters. So Galatians chapter 6 00:19:21.56\00:19:24.19 and verses 12 and 13. 00:19:24.93\00:19:27.26 "But as many desire to make a good showing 00:19:28.13\00:19:32.03 in the flesh... " Did you hear that? 00:19:32.23\00:19:35.80 "A good showing. " That ought to talk a little bit 00:19:36.00\00:19:38.87 about motive here. 00:19:39.07\00:19:40.88 "These would compel you to be circumcised 00:19:41.41\00:19:44.08 only that they may not suffer persecution 00:19:44.48\00:19:48.42 for the cross of Christ. " 00:19:48.62\00:19:51.12 Another interesting little phrase there: 00:19:51.32\00:19:54.26 "May not suffer persecution. " Verse 13: 00:19:54.46\00:19:56.52 "For not even those who are circumcised keep the law 00:19:56.93\00:20:01.83 but they desire to have you circumcised 00:20:02.03\00:20:04.90 that they may boast in your flesh. " 00:20:05.10\00:20:10.34 OK... so that's the text. 00:20:10.54\00:20:12.57 Paul gives us some hints even before this 00:20:14.24\00:20:19.35 on the very same subject of motivation. 00:20:19.65\00:20:22.52 These teachers that have come in: what are their motivation? 00:20:22.72\00:20:25.79 What's in their heart? Why are they doing what they're doing? 00:20:25.99\00:20:28.82 And so if you turn to Galatians chapter 4 verse 17 00:20:29.32\00:20:35.23 there's another little hint as to their motivation. 00:20:35.43\00:20:39.73 In fact, it's pretty glaring. 00:20:39.93\00:20:41.27 "They zealously court you 00:20:41.34\00:20:43.00 but for no good. Yes, they want to exclude you 00:20:43.20\00:20:47.21 that you may be zealous for them. " 00:20:47.71\00:20:52.11 Now I'm going to do something I don't normally do 00:20:52.61\00:20:55.22 in that I'm going to read this out of a version called 00:20:55.72\00:20:58.55 The Message Bible, OK? 00:20:58.75\00:21:00.76 I don't study with this one. 00:21:01.12\00:21:02.56 It's a bit freewheeling but it's very expressive. 00:21:03.06\00:21:07.73 "Those heretical teachers go to great lengths to flatter you 00:21:08.53\00:21:13.17 but their motives are rotten. 00:21:13.87\00:21:16.00 They want to shut you out of the free world of God's grace 00:21:17.01\00:21:20.71 so that you will always depend on them for approval 00:21:20.91\00:21:23.75 and direction making them feel important. " 00:21:23.95\00:21:28.42 See... now... back to Galatians chapter 6 verse 12: 00:21:29.38\00:21:34.36 "As many as desire to make a good showing 00:21:35.16\00:21:39.93 in the flesh. " So the motive that's coming out here 00:21:40.13\00:21:44.37 is somehow to gain approval. 00:21:44.67\00:21:48.10 If they court you and they get you into their court 00:21:48.50\00:21:51.64 and compel you to be circumcised 00:21:52.24\00:21:54.51 their motive for doing it isn't that they're winning you 00:21:54.71\00:21:58.08 to the Lord... their motive is that they can boast. 00:21:58.28\00:22:02.25 They can gain approval of men or even maybe God 00:22:02.45\00:22:06.89 by what they're doing. 00:22:07.09\00:22:08.42 You see, the motive is a bit twisted there. 00:22:08.56\00:22:12.96 I'm intrigued by this: "Only that they may not suffer 00:22:13.16\00:22:18.07 persecution of the cross of Christ. " 00:22:18.27\00:22:21.64 That takes me back to Galatians 5:11. 00:22:22.44\00:22:28.24 I think that's the verse I'm looking for. 00:22:29.81\00:22:32.11 "And I, brother, if I still preach circumcision 00:22:32.61\00:22:36.45 why do I still suffer persecution? 00:22:36.65\00:22:39.52 Then the offense of the cross has ceased. " 00:22:39.92\00:22:42.49 So some of the motivation 00:22:43.22\00:22:45.53 for the pushing of the circumcision 00:22:45.73\00:22:49.33 was a motivation of not wanting to suffer. 00:22:49.53\00:22:53.90 See, Paul suffered by presenting the cross of Jesus. 00:22:54.30\00:22:58.84 That was not a popular subject to address: 00:22:59.04\00:23:03.71 the cross of Christ. 00:23:03.91\00:23:05.65 That brought persecution both from the Romans 00:23:05.85\00:23:09.55 as well as from his fellow Jews. 00:23:09.75\00:23:11.62 And these people were trying to be Christian, 00:23:12.02\00:23:15.46 stay Jewish, and not suffer any kind of persecution 00:23:15.66\00:23:19.73 as a result of it. And so that was part of the motivation 00:23:19.93\00:23:23.47 is to... You know, if you were... 00:23:23.67\00:23:28.34 if you were a convert to Judaism one of the main signs of it 00:23:28.54\00:23:33.84 for males was circumcision. 00:23:34.04\00:23:36.11 And the Romans didn't always treat people justly, 00:23:36.61\00:23:41.42 but they let the Jewish people practice their faith. 00:23:41.62\00:23:44.29 And if you could prove that you were Jewish 00:23:44.69\00:23:46.72 you were safe. 00:23:46.92\00:23:49.12 And so this was a safety issue you might say. 00:23:49.32\00:23:53.43 And so that was another motivation. 00:23:53.63\00:23:57.63 Verse 13: "For not even those who are circumcised 00:23:57.83\00:24:02.20 keep the law, but they desire to have you circumcised 00:24:02.40\00:24:07.14 that they may boast in your flesh. " 00:24:07.34\00:24:09.54 It was kind of like having a trophy. 00:24:11.21\00:24:14.48 Now you folks maybe don't have this temptation 00:24:14.78\00:24:17.89 quite like some of us who are pastors or church leaders. 00:24:18.09\00:24:23.06 But there's a great temptation for us 00:24:23.83\00:24:26.70 to climb the ladder of success in spiritual things 00:24:26.90\00:24:31.10 by our trophies... the number. 00:24:31.40\00:24:35.37 "Oh, I just baptized 500 here last week! " 00:24:35.77\00:24:40.01 You know? Something like that. 00:24:40.21\00:24:41.61 Now, praise the Lord that 500 were baptized, right? 00:24:42.01\00:24:44.65 Amen! But is my motive for the baptizing 00:24:44.85\00:24:49.65 selfish for praise of men? 00:24:49.85\00:24:52.69 Or is my motive for baptizing 00:24:53.09\00:24:56.16 that souls are saved in the kingdom 00:24:56.36\00:24:58.89 and praise God for what He has done not what I have done. 00:24:59.09\00:25:02.93 But they were boasting in what they were doing. 00:25:03.13\00:25:07.20 How am I coming on time? Am I still OK? 00:25:07.40\00:25:10.41 You're OK. OK... all right. 00:25:10.61\00:25:11.94 So what had brought us to this point? 00:25:12.14\00:25:15.61 How come these, maybe outward appearing well-meaning 00:25:15.81\00:25:21.08 Jewish Christians coming into Galatia... 00:25:21.28\00:25:24.25 what was the whole history of the background of that? 00:25:24.45\00:25:27.72 Have to go back a little ways. 00:25:28.12\00:25:29.72 You think of from the time of Moses 00:25:30.56\00:25:33.29 up to the time of Jeremiah 00:25:33.70\00:25:36.26 the big temptation for God's people 00:25:37.20\00:25:41.87 was the worship of graven images. 00:25:42.07\00:25:44.67 They kept falling back into that. 00:25:44.87\00:25:46.78 You know, Moses is up getting the Ten Commandments 00:25:46.98\00:25:49.94 and what were they doing down below? 00:25:50.15\00:25:51.98 Worshiping graven image. 00:25:52.48\00:25:55.82 So when they were taken by Nebuchadnezzar 00:25:56.55\00:25:59.52 into Babylon they were cured forever 00:25:59.92\00:26:05.89 of the worship of graven images. 00:26:06.09\00:26:08.93 As I thought about that whole subject, too, 00:26:09.13\00:26:11.20 it wasn't the theology that was attractive to them... 00:26:11.40\00:26:17.17 it was the worship practice 00:26:17.87\00:26:20.61 that they were enamored with. 00:26:20.81\00:26:22.68 Think about that. 00:26:22.88\00:26:24.48 In the Christian world today 00:26:24.68\00:26:26.68 are we being enamored by the worship practices 00:26:27.08\00:26:32.32 of secularism? Entertainment industry? 00:26:32.52\00:26:35.99 And is that creeping into the church and its worship practices 00:26:36.39\00:26:40.33 today? That's almost like worshiping a graven image 00:26:40.53\00:26:44.13 you see. But they were cured of that. 00:26:44.33\00:26:46.40 When they came back from Babylon 00:26:46.60\00:26:48.74 they set up synagogues all throughout the land 00:26:49.94\00:26:52.97 and they assigned teachers, scribes, and priests 00:26:53.17\00:26:56.38 to teach. Not only reading, writing, and arithmetic - 00:26:56.58\00:26:59.35 that type of subject - but they also taught 00:26:59.55\00:27:01.58 the Word of God... the law. 00:27:01.78\00:27:03.75 They were very zealous for the law. 00:27:03.95\00:27:05.75 And that was good. 00:27:05.95\00:27:08.59 But Satan always takes the good and tries to pervert it. 00:27:08.79\00:27:11.79 And this happened again. 00:27:11.99\00:27:13.60 They began to lose sight of the purpose 00:27:13.80\00:27:17.83 of the ceremonies and the rituals and the practice 00:27:18.03\00:27:21.97 at the temple. They began to lose sight of its 00:27:22.57\00:27:24.71 meaning and actually began to look to the services 00:27:24.91\00:27:29.38 and the temple and the priests as the ticket 00:27:29.58\00:27:33.52 for salvation... instead of what they all meant 00:27:33.72\00:27:37.05 and in the Messiah that would come. 00:27:37.35\00:27:38.95 They gloried in the services; they gloried in the temple; 00:27:40.06\00:27:43.76 they gloried in the priesthood and not in the Savior... 00:27:43.96\00:27:47.23 not in the Messiah. 00:27:47.43\00:27:48.76 And so as they lost their "spirtualness" 00:27:49.00\00:27:51.57 formalism crept in. 00:27:51.77\00:27:53.54 They added laws upon laws to help us sort of keep God's law. 00:27:54.10\00:27:58.91 Man-made traditions. Jesus had something to say about that. 00:27:59.11\00:28:03.01 "The Pharisees and scribes asked Him... " This is Matthew 00:28:03.41\00:28:06.08 chapter 7 verses 5 to 9. 00:28:06.28\00:28:08.25 "Why do Your disciples not walk according to the traditions 00:28:08.92\00:28:11.99 of the elders and eat bread with unwashed hands? " 00:28:12.19\00:28:16.09 Not hygiene issues let me tell you. 00:28:16.29\00:28:18.16 "He answered and said to them: 00:28:18.36\00:28:20.13 'Well did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites. As it is written 00:28:20.33\00:28:23.87 these people honor Me with their lips 00:28:24.07\00:28:25.87 but their heart is far from Me. 00:28:26.27\00:28:28.60 In vain they worship Me teaching as doctrine the 00:28:29.94\00:28:32.74 commandments of men. ' " 00:28:32.94\00:28:34.78 So that's what the Jewish faith had deteriorated into. 00:28:35.18\00:28:40.12 As you come into the time of Jesus it was formalism. 00:28:40.32\00:28:44.12 It was ritual without meaning. 00:28:44.32\00:28:46.76 And so now here these Jewish people become Christians. 00:28:47.52\00:28:52.66 They accept the Messiah 00:28:52.86\00:28:54.83 but they have all this baggage of formalism. 00:28:55.03\00:28:57.47 I find it interesting God wiped all that out 00:28:57.67\00:29:00.27 in the New Testament era. 00:29:00.47\00:29:02.00 The only ritual we have is footwashing, 00:29:02.40\00:29:05.64 the Lord's Supper, and baptism. 00:29:06.04\00:29:08.04 All the rest... wiped away because He knew our tendency 00:29:08.24\00:29:12.01 to worship the service and not the Savior. See? 00:29:12.21\00:29:15.42 So that's kind of the background that was leading to 00:29:15.62\00:29:18.22 why these men were where they were at 00:29:18.42\00:29:20.86 doing what they were doing 00:29:21.02\00:29:22.52 and why Paul was resisting it 00:29:22.72\00:29:25.63 vehemently... vigorously. 00:29:25.83\00:29:28.03 And so anyway if we're to boast 00:29:28.23\00:29:31.17 let's boast in the cross... let's boast in the Savior 00:29:31.37\00:29:34.44 and not anything about what we do. 00:29:34.64\00:29:37.14 Now I have two things that I took as a... 00:29:37.34\00:29:41.44 a lesson for us today. 00:29:41.64\00:29:43.65 As we go out to present the gospel it's important 00:29:43.85\00:29:47.55 that our message is spot on. 00:29:47.75\00:29:51.22 You see, their message was not on. 00:29:51.62\00:29:53.42 They were off on their message. 00:29:53.62\00:29:55.62 But not only did we have a right message 00:29:56.02\00:29:58.63 we have a correct motive. 00:29:58.83\00:30:01.13 Amen! That's what I took from the lesson on Monday. 00:30:01.86\00:30:04.53 Very good. Pastor Dinzey. 00:30:04.93\00:30:07.04 I am blessed to talk about Galatians chapter 6 verse 14. 00:30:09.27\00:30:14.04 I think at first I started looking at it 00:30:14.84\00:30:16.91 and I said: "Well, there's really not much here. " 00:30:17.11\00:30:18.91 But as you dig you begin to see wonderful things 00:30:19.11\00:30:22.58 in Galatians chapter 6 and verse 14. 00:30:22.78\00:30:25.52 Now I'd like to read this from the King James Version 00:30:26.22\00:30:29.49 and then we'll go to the New King James Version 00:30:29.69\00:30:31.69 so you can see a little difference in the translation. 00:30:31.89\00:30:34.93 "But God forbid that I should glory 00:30:35.70\00:30:40.00 save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ 00:30:40.20\00:30:43.37 by whom the world is crucified unto me 00:30:43.57\00:30:46.68 and I unto the world. " 00:30:46.88\00:30:48.31 Now when you go to the New King James 00:30:49.18\00:30:50.95 you see these words where it says: 00:30:51.15\00:30:54.42 "But God forbid that I should boast... " 00:30:54.62\00:30:56.62 Here comes the word boast instead of the word glory. 00:30:56.82\00:30:58.62 "except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ 00:30:58.82\00:31:01.02 by whom the world has been crucified to me 00:31:01.22\00:31:03.66 and I to the world. " 00:31:03.86\00:31:05.49 But we read from the lesson something similar to this. 00:31:06.36\00:31:10.03 This is from the Revised Version. "But far be it from me 00:31:10.23\00:31:13.07 to glory... to boast... " There's the word boast. 00:31:14.70\00:31:20.64 "except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ 00:31:21.44\00:31:24.05 through which the world has been crucified unto me 00:31:24.25\00:31:27.55 and I unto the world. " 00:31:27.75\00:31:29.42 When you see the words "But God forbid" 00:31:30.12\00:31:32.39 the two Greek words here are interesting because 00:31:32.59\00:31:36.19 in the King James they use the words "God forbid. " 00:31:36.59\00:31:39.79 It's really a strong declaration because the word theos 00:31:40.20\00:31:44.37 which means God is not really in the Greek. 00:31:44.57\00:31:47.37 It is two words that are trying to express strong 00:31:48.00\00:31:52.81 declaration to say something like 00:31:53.01\00:31:56.24 "Be it far from me... " "Oh, may it never be 00:31:56.44\00:32:00.18 that I should glory except 00:32:00.58\00:32:03.85 in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. " 00:32:04.25\00:32:06.89 So Paul is saying: "I'm not going to boast about anything 00:32:07.09\00:32:09.92 except the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. " 00:32:10.13\00:32:14.10 And that is something marvelous to consider. 00:32:14.50\00:32:16.87 When you consider the Jewish mind 00:32:18.03\00:32:21.50 to them it was offensive to think 00:32:21.70\00:32:26.07 that the one that they expect to be the Messiah 00:32:26.27\00:32:31.31 was crucified on a tree or a cross. 00:32:31.51\00:32:35.35 To them it was a horrible thing 00:32:36.35\00:32:39.02 because you read in Galatians - earlier in Galatians - 00:32:39.22\00:32:43.59 and it's Galatians chapter 3 and verse 13: 00:32:43.79\00:32:47.80 "Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law 00:32:48.20\00:32:51.87 being made a curse for us for it is written 00:32:52.07\00:32:55.24 'Cursed is everyone that hangeth on a tree. ' " 00:32:55.44\00:32:59.11 So the scribes and the Pharisees 00:32:59.51\00:33:01.34 they were very happy that Christ was crucified 00:33:02.41\00:33:06.72 on a cross because it was a message to the believers 00:33:06.92\00:33:11.75 in Christ: "This man is cursed. " In other words 00:33:11.95\00:33:15.16 there's no possible hope for the person hung on a cross. 00:33:15.56\00:33:20.73 They are lost; no way to redeem them from that. 00:33:21.13\00:33:24.43 So they were trying to discourage the followers 00:33:24.63\00:33:27.37 from continuing to follow Jesus. 00:33:27.57\00:33:30.11 So: "Cursed be anyone that is hung on a tree. " 00:33:30.61\00:33:33.94 So... But Paul is saying: "Boast in the cross? " 00:33:34.81\00:33:39.51 Now what was it to the Roman mind? 00:33:39.91\00:33:41.98 The Roman mind thought that dying on a cross 00:33:42.18\00:33:44.85 was such a horrendous, horrible thing 00:33:45.05\00:33:47.76 that a Roman citizen was of such dignity 00:33:48.16\00:33:51.66 that even though he committed horrible, heinous crimes 00:33:51.86\00:33:55.63 they would not put him to death on a cross. 00:33:56.03\00:34:00.10 This was reserved for those that were not Romans. 00:34:00.30\00:34:04.11 So it was a horrible, horrible way to die. 00:34:04.54\00:34:07.14 I don't know if you've ever looked into dying on a cross. 00:34:07.34\00:34:09.91 But it was a horrible horrible death; a slow, torturing death 00:34:10.61\00:34:15.32 that would normally take days. 00:34:15.52\00:34:18.52 And you're hung on a cross. Imagine that you're 00:34:18.72\00:34:21.99 somewhere hot. You've been somewhere hot Pr. John Bradshaw. 00:34:22.19\00:34:25.96 And there are insects coming at you and you can't 00:34:27.00\00:34:30.90 do anything about it. Your hands are nailed to a cross. 00:34:31.10\00:34:35.97 You can't do anything. 00:34:36.81\00:34:38.27 So it was a horrible horrible way to die. 00:34:38.47\00:34:40.84 And as you slowly began to die you imagined 00:34:41.04\00:34:43.98 the animals become interested in your death 00:34:44.18\00:34:46.61 because that means a meal is coming. 00:34:46.82\00:34:48.95 So it was a horrible horrible way to die. 00:34:49.35\00:34:51.12 And so... But Paul says: "God forbid 00:34:51.32\00:34:55.62 or far be it from me that I should boast! " 00:34:55.82\00:34:59.09 Let's talk about boasting for a moment. 00:34:59.49\00:35:01.06 I don't know if anyone here has ever boasted. 00:35:01.26\00:35:03.13 But people talk about things they are happy about 00:35:06.43\00:35:11.04 and they rejoice about or they... 00:35:11.24\00:35:14.54 you know there's a verse that says something similar to 00:35:14.74\00:35:16.95 "Pride cometh before destruction and a great fall. " 00:35:17.35\00:35:20.45 "A haughty spirit... " yeah... "before a great fall. " 00:35:20.65\00:35:23.55 I remember when I was much younger 00:35:23.95\00:35:25.92 way back on the horizon before... and the horizon was 00:35:26.32\00:35:29.19 the falling of hair... and my hair was black. 00:35:29.39\00:35:32.93 Now think way back. Not too way back because I'm not 00:35:33.33\00:35:36.00 that old... but there I was a teenager 00:35:36.20\00:35:39.33 and we were doing some exercise... some exercises 00:35:39.53\00:35:42.74 in this place. And we were lifting our legs 00:35:42.94\00:35:47.48 in some way and I said: "Hey, I'm pretty good at this! " 00:35:47.68\00:35:51.48 "I'm doing really good at this! " 00:35:51.88\00:35:53.98 And I was looking at the others. I said: "Boy, I'm doing better 00:35:54.18\00:35:56.52 than they are! " And some people taking a tour came in 00:35:56.72\00:36:00.66 and for some reason I said: "I'm doing good; they're 00:36:00.86\00:36:02.86 going to see me. " And I started doing it a little fancy 00:36:03.06\00:36:06.23 and my foot slipped - the one that was on the ground - 00:36:06.43\00:36:09.63 and there I went: blap on the floor. 00:36:10.03\00:36:14.74 Now what do you think happened to me at that moment? 00:36:14.94\00:36:17.51 I was not as happy as before; 00:36:18.61\00:36:20.18 I was not as rejoicing as before. 00:36:20.38\00:36:21.78 My boasting became an embarrassment. 00:36:21.98\00:36:24.91 So for us as Christians 00:36:25.51\00:36:30.02 boasting should not be a part of our experience 00:36:30.22\00:36:32.52 either by words or by actions 00:36:32.72\00:36:35.39 because people lose sight of Christ. 00:36:35.59\00:36:39.86 And we remember the scripture that says: 00:36:40.06\00:36:42.30 "Let your light so shine 00:36:43.57\00:36:45.93 that they may see your good works 00:36:46.13\00:36:48.14 and glorify your Father which is in heaven. " 00:36:48.34\00:36:52.31 And so this is what we should do. 00:36:52.77\00:36:55.41 Our words and our actions should glorify our Father 00:36:55.61\00:36:58.88 which is in heaven. 00:36:59.08\00:37:00.42 Now I'd like to go to this part about the cross. 00:37:00.75\00:37:04.75 Oh... the cross. And what was really Paul talking about here? 00:37:04.95\00:37:09.89 Was he just talking about the cross itself? 00:37:10.09\00:37:12.29 The instrument upon which Christ was crucified? 00:37:12.49\00:37:15.46 No, he's talking about Christ dying on the cross: 00:37:15.66\00:37:19.83 the atoning sacrifice of Christ 00:37:20.04\00:37:23.47 which means salvation unto everyone that believes. 00:37:23.67\00:37:28.58 Because the Bible says that "God so loved the world... " 00:37:28.98\00:37:32.35 So when you think of Paul saying that I should boast 00:37:32.55\00:37:35.52 but in the cross you have to think that he's talking about 00:37:35.72\00:37:39.32 Jesus Christ dying on the cross for his sins. 00:37:39.52\00:37:43.06 For my sins... for your sins. 00:37:43.26\00:37:45.29 And so when we think of the cross we see... 00:37:45.49\00:37:48.20 think of Jesus dying on the cross we see 00:37:48.40\00:37:50.57 a God that loves us so much - 00:37:50.77\00:37:54.07 so great is this love - 00:37:54.27\00:37:57.04 that He's willing to give His Son 00:37:57.24\00:38:00.51 to rescue us from condemnation of sin 00:38:00.71\00:38:04.51 and from the wages of sin... which is death. 00:38:04.71\00:38:06.68 Christ took our place. WE should have been on that cross. 00:38:06.88\00:38:10.89 We DESERVE to be on the cross but Christ took our place. 00:38:11.09\00:38:16.02 So that's why Paul is able to say 00:38:16.32\00:38:19.19 "I can boast in the cross of Jesus Christ. " 00:38:19.39\00:38:23.80 And THAT is something to really boast about! 00:38:24.00\00:38:27.24 And so we can tell the world about Jesus. There's a song 00:38:27.44\00:38:32.07 that says: "Take the world and give me Jesus. " 00:38:32.27\00:38:36.58 Take the world and give me Jesus. 00:38:36.78\00:38:39.05 The early Christians really didn't look for attention 00:38:39.45\00:38:44.45 to themselves. They looked to bring people - people's eyes, 00:38:44.65\00:38:48.42 people's thoughts - to Jesus Christ: 00:38:48.62\00:38:50.86 the Author and Finisher of our faith. 00:38:51.06\00:38:53.83 Because the Bible says that there is salvation 00:38:54.23\00:38:59.23 in no other name but Jesus. And they knew that. 00:38:59.43\00:39:04.21 There's no salvation in the sacrificing of animals. 00:39:04.54\00:39:07.91 There's no salvation in any other name under heaven. 00:39:08.11\00:39:13.82 There are some people that name certain names and 00:39:14.02\00:39:17.39 I'm not going to go into that because we have very little time 00:39:17.59\00:39:20.99 but the only name by which we can be saved 00:39:21.39\00:39:23.66 is Jesus Christ - Amen! and Him crucified. 00:39:23.86\00:39:28.90 Because if you take out from history the fact that Christ 00:39:29.30\00:39:34.27 died on the cross to save us 00:39:34.47\00:39:36.27 you might as well blot out the sun... 00:39:36.47\00:39:39.77 take the sun out of the sky. 00:39:39.97\00:39:41.44 And then there will be no light to shine upon this earth. 00:39:42.08\00:39:45.28 This earth will be complete darkness. 00:39:45.48\00:39:47.05 And this earth still has light and grace because Jesus 00:39:47.45\00:39:52.35 died on the cross for us. Amen! 00:39:52.55\00:39:54.72 And that's why you and I have hope today. 00:39:54.92\00:39:57.09 That's why you and I can say 00:39:57.49\00:39:59.86 "Lord, forgive me for my sins. " By looking to the cross... 00:40:01.06\00:40:05.37 The Father looks... When a sinner comes to the Lord 00:40:05.57\00:40:08.87 the Lord looks at the sinner 00:40:09.57\00:40:11.54 but looks at Jesus dying on the cross for the sinner 00:40:11.74\00:40:16.28 and we can be accepted as the Bible says 00:40:16.48\00:40:19.08 "in the beloved. " And that's why the worst - 00:40:19.28\00:40:22.48 the worst, the very worst - if you consider yourself the worst 00:40:23.12\00:40:26.45 there's hope as you look to Jesus. 00:40:26.65\00:40:30.06 And I would say to you that it is far better 00:40:30.26\00:40:34.50 for us to look to Jesus than to ourselves. 00:40:34.70\00:40:37.23 "By whom the world is crucified unto me and I unto the world. " 00:40:37.67\00:40:42.27 So this is a decision every one of us has to make. 00:40:42.74\00:40:45.34 We talk about the flesh. 00:40:45.74\00:40:48.08 Some people boast in the flesh and their accomplishments. 00:40:48.48\00:40:50.91 But Paul is saying... When he says 00:40:51.45\00:40:55.25 that the world is crucified to me he's talking about 00:40:55.45\00:40:58.09 the flesh... the desires that this flesh may have 00:40:58.29\00:41:01.59 for the world. And that's why I go back to 00:41:01.79\00:41:04.46 you take the world but give me Jesus. Amen! 00:41:04.66\00:41:07.63 And I want to encourage you to continue 00:41:07.83\00:41:09.86 looking unto Jesus; the Author and the Finisher of our faith. 00:41:10.07\00:41:13.44 And we need to remember 00:41:13.84\00:41:17.04 Luke chapter 9 verse 23. 00:41:17.64\00:41:20.44 What did Jesus say in Luke chapter 9 verse 23? 00:41:20.64\00:41:23.31 Jesus said: "if any man will come after Me, 00:41:24.41\00:41:27.92 if anyone wants to follow Me, 00:41:28.12\00:41:29.45 let him take up his cross daily 00:41:29.48\00:41:32.25 and follow Me. " And this is what we all need to do. 00:41:32.45\00:41:37.06 Every day take the cross to crucify self 00:41:37.26\00:41:41.86 and follow Jesus. 00:41:42.26\00:41:44.17 And as we follow Jesus the closer we come to Jesus 00:41:44.37\00:41:46.77 the closer we realize that He died to save us 00:41:46.97\00:41:49.47 the closer we examine this subject of Jesus 00:41:49.67\00:41:53.61 dying on the cross for us 00:41:54.01\00:41:56.21 the more we will lose sight of self 00:41:56.91\00:41:59.58 and our accomplishments and our great things. 00:41:59.78\00:42:02.65 The more we talk about Jesus the better it is for us. 00:42:02.85\00:42:07.49 And I would say to you that the more you talk about Jesus 00:42:07.89\00:42:11.23 the more the holy angels draw near 00:42:11.63\00:42:14.30 and you will have an atmosphere of heaven wherever you go. 00:42:14.50\00:42:18.80 Amen! Wherever you go. 00:42:19.00\00:42:20.57 I would like to finish with this scripture 00:42:20.77\00:42:23.27 that we should know: 00:42:23.77\00:42:25.31 Ephesians chapter 2 verses 8-9. 00:42:25.71\00:42:27.58 "By grace are we saved and that not of ourselves. 00:42:27.98\00:42:33.98 It is the gift of God. " 00:42:34.18\00:42:35.88 And I would like to add the next verse just the first part: 00:42:36.18\00:42:38.59 "Not of works lest any man should boast. " 00:42:38.79\00:42:42.72 Let our boasting be about Jesus. 00:42:43.16\00:42:45.49 Let our glorying be about Jesus. 00:42:45.89\00:42:48.26 And let... the Bible says in Jeremiah chapter 9 verse 23: 00:42:48.46\00:42:51.93 If anyone wants to glory let him glory in the fact that 00:42:52.13\00:42:55.37 God is saying that He "knows me and understands me. " 00:42:55.57\00:42:59.07 So I want to encourage you to look to Jesus 00:42:59.27\00:43:02.41 and lose sight of self. Look to Jesus 00:43:02.61\00:43:05.11 and find hope and salvation. 00:43:05.31\00:43:08.45 Amen! Thank you so much, Pr. Dinzey. 00:43:08.85\00:43:11.09 What a blessing! Hasn't this study in the book of Galatians 00:43:11.29\00:43:14.42 been an incredible blessing? I know it has ministered 00:43:14.62\00:43:18.09 to my heart and in my own walk with Jesus. 00:43:18.29\00:43:21.40 I think I have, Pastor Bradshaw, the best day of everybody here, 00:43:21.60\00:43:25.07 and that is not boasting. 00:43:25.27\00:43:27.04 I have "A New Creation. " 00:43:27.87\00:43:30.57 To me this is the most incredible topic! 00:43:30.77\00:43:33.24 The gospel is all about change. 00:43:33.44\00:43:35.21 The gospel is about God taking us 00:43:35.61\00:43:37.78 from the depths of sin and despair, the slime 00:43:37.98\00:43:41.78 and the pit and the mire of that 00:43:41.98\00:43:44.12 and pulling us out, cleaning us up, 00:43:44.32\00:43:47.16 justifying us, standing us before the Father 00:43:47.36\00:43:50.69 in right relationship with God 00:43:50.89\00:43:53.19 and transforming our lives. 00:43:53.40\00:43:56.43 Making us into the image of Jesus. 00:43:56.83\00:43:59.30 I have one verse here for Wednesday, A New Creation. 00:43:59.87\00:44:02.70 That's Galatians chapter 6 verse 15. 00:44:02.90\00:44:06.17 It comes right after what Pastor Johnny shared. 00:44:06.37\00:44:08.54 "For in Christ Jesus 00:44:08.74\00:44:11.08 neither circumcision nor uncircumcision 00:44:11.28\00:44:14.48 avails anything but a new creation. " 00:44:14.68\00:44:19.39 You know, it's incredible to me 00:44:19.59\00:44:21.32 because Paul in the book of Galatians... and we have talked 00:44:21.52\00:44:25.93 this on the panel and the entire quarter has been about 00:44:26.13\00:44:28.50 this. He has really dwelt on this subject of circumcision. 00:44:28.70\00:44:32.77 And we could say as New Testament Christians 00:44:32.97\00:44:35.40 "Well why is he getting hung up on circumcision? " 00:44:35.60\00:44:37.64 But you know what? Within the SDA church 00:44:37.84\00:44:41.11 we have some pockets... we have some things that 00:44:41.31\00:44:44.95 could be caught up in the same thing. 00:44:45.15\00:44:46.82 Believing that I am justified by faith 00:44:47.02\00:44:49.65 but I have to add some works 00:44:49.85\00:44:52.35 instead of understanding that we are justified by faith, 00:44:52.55\00:44:55.96 by grace through faith alone. 00:44:56.16\00:44:58.36 And nothing I do or don't do 00:44:58.56\00:45:01.80 can ever merit or earn any salvation. 00:45:02.00\00:45:05.53 So the message in the book of Galatians 00:45:05.93\00:45:08.04 is not just for the Galatian church. 00:45:08.24\00:45:10.07 The Judaizers came in and taught them that. 00:45:10.27\00:45:12.44 It's for you and it's for me. 00:45:12.64\00:45:14.28 This passage: "In Christ Jesus neither circumcision 00:45:15.21\00:45:18.95 nor uncircumcision avails anything but a new creation. " 00:45:19.15\00:45:23.22 Paul talks about it three different times. 00:45:23.42\00:45:25.85 There's three parallel passages 00:45:26.05\00:45:28.12 where he mentions circumcision and uncircumcision 00:45:28.32\00:45:31.03 do not avail anything. 00:45:31.23\00:45:32.56 We want to take a look at them and then we want to look 00:45:32.59\00:45:34.46 at how we can become a new creation. 00:45:34.66\00:45:37.70 So the first passage is one chapter back. 00:45:37.90\00:45:40.17 We're in Galatians 5:6. 00:45:40.37\00:45:42.87 Turn back just one page: Galatians 5 verse 6. 00:45:43.87\00:45:47.08 "For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision 00:45:47.48\00:45:49.91 nor uncircumcision avails anything. " 00:45:50.11\00:45:52.38 You see that parallelism. 00:45:52.58\00:45:54.08 It's the same thing we just read in chapter 6 verse 15. 00:45:54.28\00:45:56.92 But this is different. It says: 00:45:57.42\00:45:58.75 "But faith working through love... " 00:45:58.95\00:46:02.12 It reminds me, Bro. Johnny, what you just read. 00:46:02.52\00:46:04.56 Ephesians 2:8-9: "By grace we are saved 00:46:04.76\00:46:07.96 through faith. " Let's jump down to verse 13. 00:46:08.16\00:46:12.63 Because some people say Paul's gospel is all about 00:46:12.83\00:46:16.20 freedom in Christ because we're talking about justification 00:46:16.40\00:46:19.71 and he doesn't focus on any of those works aspects. 00:46:19.91\00:46:23.04 Let's look at verse 13. 00:46:23.24\00:46:24.58 "You brethren have been called to liberty 00:46:25.21\00:46:28.18 only do not use liberty as an opportunity 00:46:28.38\00:46:32.32 for the flesh. " He's bringing some balance here. 00:46:32.52\00:46:35.76 "But through love serve one another. " 00:46:35.96\00:46:39.59 In the Greek there's a word added that's not here 00:46:40.00\00:46:42.30 in our English translation, and it's the word the. 00:46:42.50\00:46:45.00 It says: "through the love... " 00:46:45.20\00:46:48.20 indicating God's divine love... "serve one another. " 00:46:48.40\00:46:54.01 The word for serve in the Greek is the word 00:46:54.21\00:46:56.48 that would come from doulos meaning slave. 00:46:56.68\00:46:59.45 Through love - through God's love - 00:46:59.65\00:47:02.22 we're not called when we're freed. 00:47:02.42\00:47:04.79 We're justified. Paul says "you're walking in freedom. " 00:47:04.99\00:47:07.56 We're not called to stand in freedom and to do 00:47:07.76\00:47:10.09 whatever we want. 00:47:10.29\00:47:11.63 We're called to have God's divine love in our hearts 00:47:11.93\00:47:16.60 and then in turn serve other people. 00:47:16.80\00:47:20.20 Serve our brothers and sisters. 00:47:20.40\00:47:22.37 It's... The essence of the gospel is self-sacrificing love. 00:47:22.77\00:47:26.14 From the manger to the cross Jesus - His whole life - 00:47:26.34\00:47:29.64 He lived to bless other people. 00:47:29.84\00:47:31.75 And His whole life was about self-sacrifice. 00:47:32.15\00:47:35.52 You think about sin. It originated in heaven 00:47:35.72\00:47:38.49 with Satan with self-seeking. 00:47:38.69\00:47:42.12 But the character of God is the exact opposite: 00:47:42.52\00:47:44.93 self-sacrificing love. 00:47:45.33\00:47:47.30 The second one... We looked at the first parallel 00:47:48.10\00:47:50.37 "In Christ Jesus. " This is Galatians 5:6. 00:47:50.57\00:47:53.03 'Neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything 00:47:53.23\00:47:56.00 but faith working through love. " 00:47:56.20\00:47:58.17 The second one was the passage we actually had for today. 00:47:58.57\00:48:01.14 That's Galatians 6:15. 00:48:01.44\00:48:02.94 "In Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision 00:48:03.14\00:48:06.61 avails anything but a new creation. " 00:48:06.82\00:48:10.19 Now that word for new in the Greek 00:48:10.59\00:48:13.25 means new, fresh, of a new kind, unprecedented, 00:48:13.46\00:48:18.69 unheard of. 00:48:18.89\00:48:20.30 You know... Have you ever met someone and all of a sudden 00:48:20.96\00:48:23.43 you say, you haven't seen them in a long time 00:48:23.63\00:48:26.90 and then you come back and you see them again 00:48:27.10\00:48:28.84 and you think: "Something's different about you. " 00:48:29.04\00:48:32.51 "There's something different. You used to do this. 00:48:32.71\00:48:36.24 You used to act this way. 00:48:36.44\00:48:38.31 You used to have this dark countenance 00:48:38.51\00:48:40.95 and all of a sudden I see Jesus... 00:48:41.35\00:48:43.99 I see a transformed character. " 00:48:44.39\00:48:46.89 When God gets ahold of you you know what happens? 00:48:47.29\00:48:50.03 He changes you completely. 00:48:50.23\00:48:52.43 We don't even look like the same person 00:48:52.63\00:48:55.06 we used to look like. 00:48:55.26\00:48:56.60 We are changed completely. 00:48:56.63\00:48:58.27 Those old habits, those old addictions, 00:48:58.47\00:49:01.20 that old way of thinking, 00:49:01.40\00:49:03.44 the old man of sin is put to death 00:49:03.64\00:49:06.34 and the new person comes out. 00:49:06.54\00:49:08.31 That reminds me of II Corinthians 5:17. 00:49:08.71\00:49:12.35 "If anyone is in Christ, he - or she - 00:49:12.85\00:49:15.05 is a new creation. " 00:49:15.25\00:49:16.89 The same word for new there. 00:49:17.09\00:49:18.52 Completely new, unprecedented, unheard of. 00:49:18.72\00:49:22.02 "Old things have passed away; behold, all things have become 00:49:22.22\00:49:26.49 new. " Now let's look at the third parallel passage. 00:49:26.70\00:49:29.13 We're going to I Corinthians. I Corinthians chapter 7. 00:49:29.53\00:49:34.64 I Corinthians chapter 7 verse 19. 00:49:38.34\00:49:41.58 "Circumcision is nothing and uncircumcision 00:49:42.94\00:49:45.91 is nothing. " The wording's a little different 00:49:46.11\00:49:48.28 but it's the same principle. 00:49:48.48\00:49:49.98 He's saying the circumcision or the uncircumcision 00:49:50.19\00:49:52.95 is not the point here. But what is? 00:49:53.15\00:49:55.86 It says: "But keeping the commandments of God 00:49:56.06\00:49:59.69 is what matters. " Now Miss Mollie, when I first 00:49:59.89\00:50:02.33 look at that I think: "OK, keeping the commandments 00:50:02.53\00:50:05.03 of God... Paul is bringing in a different concept. " 00:50:05.23\00:50:08.34 He has been saying what matters: "Faith working through love; 00:50:08.74\00:50:12.91 serving other people, self-sacrificing love; 00:50:13.11\00:50:16.34 a new creation. " And now all of a sudden 00:50:16.64\00:50:19.15 he says: "I'm talking about the law. " 00:50:19.35\00:50:21.85 Keeping the commandments. Let's take a look. 00:50:22.05\00:50:25.72 Galatians 5... jump back to Galatians. 00:50:26.22\00:50:30.13 Galatians 5 verse 14. 00:50:30.33\00:50:32.46 We read verse 13 just a few moments ago. 00:50:32.66\00:50:34.63 Let's look at verse 14. 00:50:34.83\00:50:36.56 "For all the law is fulfilled in one word, 00:50:36.97\00:50:40.94 even in this: you shall love your neighbor 00:50:41.14\00:50:44.57 as yourself. " I think of I John 4:8. 00:50:44.77\00:50:47.74 "Whoever does not love does not know God 00:50:47.94\00:50:50.48 because God is love. " 00:50:50.68\00:50:53.21 The Ten Commandments are a transcript 00:50:53.42\00:50:56.48 or a picture of God's character. 00:50:56.69\00:50:59.19 And God is love. 00:50:59.39\00:51:01.22 So when Paul says here in I Corinthians 7:19 00:51:01.42\00:51:04.13 "Circumcision is nothing 00:51:04.33\00:51:05.96 and uncircumcision is nothing, but keeping the commandments" 00:51:06.16\00:51:09.33 what is he saying? We are to represent 00:51:09.53\00:51:12.73 the character of God and God is love. 00:51:12.93\00:51:16.44 All three of these passages have the same import 00:51:16.84\00:51:20.14 and the same meaning. Now let's look in our remaining time 00:51:20.34\00:51:22.74 at how are we to be transformed. 00:51:22.94\00:51:25.71 You might be at home today 00:51:26.21\00:51:27.72 and you might be saying: "You know what? 00:51:27.92\00:51:30.05 I don't even want to be changed. 00:51:30.25\00:51:32.15 I like where I am right now. " And you know, Pastor Johnny, 00:51:32.35\00:51:35.12 I've done that. I remember once getting in a discussion 00:51:35.32\00:51:38.36 with my husband. It was a discussion. 00:51:38.56\00:51:40.90 And I was thinking: "You know what? I really don't 00:51:41.30\00:51:45.23 want to change. I know I'm in the right and things are... " 00:51:45.43\00:51:49.47 "You know, he needs to change. " 00:51:49.67\00:51:51.77 And I kind of wanted to wallow in that. 00:51:52.17\00:51:54.44 I don't know if you ladies have ever wallowed in something 00:51:54.64\00:51:57.55 like that? I wanted to wallow in that 00:51:57.71\00:52:00.05 like: "OK, I know I should be changing. 00:52:00.25\00:52:02.98 I know I should become a new creation 00:52:03.18\00:52:05.79 but I kind of like sitting where I am right now. " 00:52:05.99\00:52:08.49 Sometimes we don't have the desire 00:52:08.69\00:52:11.46 for a new creation or for a change. 00:52:11.66\00:52:14.00 And sometimes we have the desire but we have no power. 00:52:14.20\00:52:17.87 "God, I'm in addiction. " "God, I'm enslaved in sin. " 00:52:18.07\00:52:21.70 "God, I can't change... I want to but I can't. " 00:52:21.90\00:52:26.17 There is hope for you today. 00:52:26.37\00:52:28.41 Philippians 2:13... one of my favorite scriptures. 00:52:28.61\00:52:32.01 "It is God... " Not me; not Pastor John 00:52:32.21\00:52:35.92 or Pastor Johnny or Pastor Brian or Mollie or any of you. 00:52:36.12\00:52:39.05 "It is God who works in us both too will and to do 00:52:39.25\00:52:42.46 of His good pleasure. " Amen! 00:52:42.66\00:52:44.53 The word in Greek for will is desire. 00:52:44.73\00:52:47.33 So if I don't even have the desire to change - 00:52:47.53\00:52:49.83 if I'm wallowing in my funk - 00:52:50.03\00:52:52.13 what happens? God says: "I can give you 00:52:52.33\00:52:54.34 the desire, Jill, to ask for forgiveness... 00:52:54.54\00:52:57.34 to get out of what you were in. " 00:52:57.54\00:52:59.01 It... that's the first word. "It is God who works in us 00:52:59.51\00:53:02.84 to will... " That is, to desire... 00:53:03.04\00:53:04.65 and to do... " Do in the Greek is power! 00:53:04.85\00:53:07.62 God knows we don't have the strength to change ourselves. 00:53:07.82\00:53:10.95 We come to Him: He gives us the power. 00:53:11.35\00:53:14.36 So how do you and I become a new creation? 00:53:14.56\00:53:16.93 I think three things. Number one: ask. 00:53:17.33\00:53:19.89 Number two: accept. 00:53:20.30\00:53:22.10 Number three: allow. 00:53:22.50\00:53:24.30 Ask. Ask for His forgiveness. 00:53:24.70\00:53:26.87 I John 1:9. "If we confess our sins, 00:53:27.27\00:53:29.80 He's faithful and just to forgive us our sins 00:53:30.01\00:53:33.07 and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. " 00:53:33.27\00:53:36.95 Ask for forgiveness. 00:53:37.35\00:53:38.88 Ask for Him to enter your life. 00:53:39.28\00:53:41.85 Revelation 3:20. "Behold, " He says, 00:53:42.05\00:53:44.49 I stand at the door. I'm knocking. 00:53:44.69\00:53:47.42 If anyone will open the door I will come in. " 00:53:47.62\00:53:50.69 Why don't you open up your heart to Jesus? 00:53:50.89\00:53:52.99 He's not going to force. He never forces. 00:53:53.40\00:53:55.76 Love does not force. 00:53:55.96\00:53:57.37 But He says: "Open up the door and I will come in. " 00:53:57.57\00:54:00.74 First step to becoming a new creation is to ask 00:54:01.54\00:54:04.97 for His forgiveness and ask for Him to enter your life. 00:54:05.17\00:54:08.24 Number two: accept His gift of salvation by faith. 00:54:08.64\00:54:13.15 Accept it. It is a free gift. 00:54:13.68\00:54:16.48 Grace means we get what we don't deserve. 00:54:16.69\00:54:19.39 He takes our penalty; He takes our sin 00:54:19.59\00:54:22.79 and He gives in exchange for that eternal life. 00:54:22.99\00:54:26.36 His righteous white robe. 00:54:26.76\00:54:29.33 Number three: allow Him to change you. 00:54:29.73\00:54:33.07 Surrender to His control. 00:54:33.27\00:54:36.27 Allow Him to do that work in you. 00:54:36.67\00:54:39.11 Let Him transform you. 00:54:39.31\00:54:40.64 One of my favorite scriptures: Romans 12:1-2. 00:54:40.74\00:54:43.04 "I beseech you therefore brethren by the mercies of God 00:54:43.45\00:54:46.41 that you present your bodies a living sacrifice 00:54:46.61\00:54:49.88 wholly acceptable to God which is your reasonable service. 00:54:50.09\00:54:53.96 And do not be conformed to this world 00:54:54.16\00:54:56.96 but be ye transformed... " 00:54:57.26\00:55:00.10 Hold onto that word... 00:55:00.30\00:55:01.63 "by the renewing of your mind 00:55:01.66\00:55:03.30 that you may prove what is that good and acceptable 00:55:03.50\00:55:05.57 and perfect will of God. " 00:55:05.77\00:55:07.67 The word transformed in the Greek is metamorphosis. 00:55:07.87\00:55:11.04 God wants to change us from a caterpillar to a butterfly. 00:55:11.24\00:55:15.04 Real quick: Greg and I were... He loves nature... 00:55:15.44\00:55:18.01 And one morning he said: "Jilly, come look outside. " 00:55:19.01\00:55:21.28 And there was a caterpillar attached underneath the porch 00:55:21.48\00:55:24.09 railing - our front porch - and he was spinning his cocoon. 00:55:24.29\00:55:28.42 And every day we went out and we peeked. 00:55:28.82\00:55:31.13 Still there. We peeked. 00:55:31.53\00:55:33.63 Still there. On Sabbath - there has to be a lesson with that - 00:55:33.83\00:55:37.30 on Sabbath Greg said: "Jilly, hurry and come outside. " 00:55:37.70\00:55:41.10 And I looked outside and the butterfly was coming out. 00:55:41.50\00:55:44.94 That exemplifies the transforming grace of God: 00:55:45.34\00:55:49.91 what He does in your life and in mine. 00:55:50.31\00:55:53.18 How He changes us. 00:55:53.38\00:55:55.18 We wallow on the ground like a caterpillar. 00:55:55.48\00:55:58.05 We crawl in the dirt and the mire of sin 00:55:58.25\00:56:01.06 and He, by the power of His Spirit, 00:56:01.46\00:56:03.83 changes us and we come out as a butterfly. 00:56:04.03\00:56:07.66 By beholding Him. II Corinthians 3:18. 00:56:08.26\00:56:12.10 "We all with open face beholding as in a glass 00:56:12.50\00:56:14.97 the glory of the Lord are transformed... " 00:56:15.17\00:56:17.27 The same word metamorphosis... 00:56:17.47\00:56:18.91 Are changed. We're changed by beholding Jesus. 00:56:19.11\00:56:22.54 We're changed by the washing of the water of the Word. 00:56:22.94\00:56:26.31 We're changed by the power of the Holy Spirit. 00:56:26.72\00:56:29.68 So I don't know about you all today and you at home: 00:56:30.09\00:56:32.69 I want to become a new creation in Christ Jesus. 00:56:32.89\00:56:36.49 Amen! 00:56:36.69\00:56:38.39 I'll have the closing prayer now. 00:56:46.10\00:56:48.07 Would you say amen out there? Amen! 00:56:59.75\00:57:02.52 All right... Galatians 6. Thank you, Jill. 00:57:02.72\00:57:04.99 Verses 16 through 18. 00:57:06.59\00:57:08.46 This is the final stanza here. 00:57:08.86\00:57:11.59 Paul has written almost six chapters to the people 00:57:12.29\00:57:15.16 in Galatia and then he says: 00:57:15.36\00:57:17.50 "And as many as walk according to this rule... " 00:57:18.23\00:57:22.07 You understand what he's saying now. 00:57:22.27\00:57:24.41 The verse before that: "In Christ Jesus neither 00:57:24.61\00:57:27.41 circumcision availeth anything 00:57:27.61\00:57:29.28 nor uncircumcision but... " The butterfly! 00:57:29.48\00:57:34.75 "but as many as walk according to this rule... " 00:57:35.15\00:57:37.55 Notice what Paul is doing here. 00:57:37.95\00:57:40.26 He's pretty uncompromising in this letter to the Galatians. 00:57:40.46\00:57:42.89 "As many as walk according to this rule peace be on them... " 00:57:43.46\00:57:46.09 In other words, if you don't walk according to this rule, 00:57:46.29\00:57:49.53 no peace on you. 00:57:49.73\00:57:51.07 "and mercy and upon the Israel of God. " 00:57:51.37\00:57:54.34 "From henceforth let no man trouble me 00:57:54.90\00:57:56.94 for I bear in my body the marks of the Lord Jesus. " 00:57:57.14\00:57:59.44 Then he signs off: "Brethren, 00:57:59.64\00:58:00.98 the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirits. " 00:58:01.18\00:58:03.85 And he writes: "Amen. " 00:58:04.05\00:58:06.01 I'd like to review with you where we've been this quarter 00:58:06.41\00:58:08.65 in the book of Galatians. I can't review in depth. 00:58:08.85\00:58:11.02 This is just grazing across the surface, but I'm hoping 00:58:11.22\00:58:14.42 it will bring us down to our final three verses 00:58:14.62\00:58:18.33 here at the end of the book of Galatians. 00:58:18.53\00:58:19.89 Paul begins and he says: "I marvel... " 00:58:20.53\00:58:22.46 "I'm just amazed. " "I'm astonished 00:58:22.66\00:58:25.93 that you've left the gospel that I gave you 00:58:26.13\00:58:28.67 and you've embraced something else which quite frankly 00:58:28.87\00:58:31.17 isn't even a gospel. " 00:58:31.37\00:58:32.71 This is very straight language. 00:58:33.27\00:58:35.68 Paul is determined to help them see the seriousness 00:58:35.88\00:58:40.45 of their situation. 00:58:40.65\00:58:42.02 They have stepped off the platform. 00:58:42.42\00:58:44.55 See, here's what I maintain: 00:58:45.25\00:58:46.76 I maintain that when you step off the platform of the 00:58:46.96\00:58:48.96 truth of God's word you've just stepped into quicksand. 00:58:49.16\00:58:51.79 And there's no telling how far you're going to sink 00:58:51.99\00:58:55.26 or how far you're going to drift. 00:58:55.46\00:58:56.87 But you are going to sink and you are going to drift. 00:58:57.20\00:59:00.64 There's only safety in the Word of God. 00:59:01.04\00:59:03.61 See, there are some people who figure that they're smarter 00:59:04.34\00:59:06.57 than God. The first evangelistic series I ever held... 00:59:06.78\00:59:09.68 I cannot tell you where it was 00:59:09.88\00:59:11.21 because you might figure some things out. 00:59:11.41\00:59:13.25 If you know where it was then you're home and house. 00:59:13.75\00:59:17.45 First evangelistic series and I was preaching about 00:59:17.85\00:59:19.75 the 2,300 days very enthusiastically. 00:59:19.95\00:59:22.19 And a man of some great experience 00:59:22.69\00:59:24.23 came to me and he said: 00:59:24.43\00:59:26.23 "I used to believe that. " 00:59:26.63\00:59:28.26 He was a church member. "I used to believe that. " 00:59:28.66\00:59:30.67 And I looked, you know... I was still a little green. 00:59:32.83\00:59:36.47 Wasn't used to men of experience telling me 00:59:36.67\00:59:39.21 they used to believe the truth. 00:59:39.41\00:59:40.98 Said: "I used to believe the truth but I don't believe that 00:59:41.61\00:59:43.75 any more. I've studied and I've learned some different things. " 00:59:43.95\00:59:48.02 I said: "Man! You have to be 00:59:48.85\00:59:53.62 intelligent! You must be smart. " 00:59:53.99\00:59:57.33 And he first... First he took it as a compliment. 00:59:58.09\01:00:03.50 He said: "Well, I am a doctor you know 01:00:04.33\01:00:06.00 and you know... " I said: "No, no... really. " 01:00:06.20\01:00:08.60 "Ellen White believed this. 01:00:09.77\01:00:12.37 James White believed this. 01:00:12.77\01:00:14.64 J. N. Loughborough believed this. 01:00:15.04\01:00:17.21 John Nevins Andrews believed this. 01:00:17.61\01:00:19.55 Uriah Smith believed this. 01:00:19.75\01:00:21.32 The General Conference president believes this. 01:00:21.52\01:00:23.89 Evidently you know more than they do! 01:00:24.29\01:00:26.22 You must be smart. " 01:00:26.42\01:00:28.42 You know, he stopped and reflected on that 01:00:31.09\01:00:32.59 and then I think he figured out what I was getting at 01:00:32.79\01:00:34.93 and I figured out it was time for me to get out of there. 01:00:35.13\01:00:37.13 When you decide that you know more than the church 01:00:42.20\01:00:45.77 you'd better be right. 01:00:46.17\01:00:48.34 You're not... you are wrong! 01:00:49.14\01:00:52.28 But when you know more than the Bible commentary 01:00:52.68\01:00:56.79 and the Biblical Research Institute 01:00:56.99\01:00:58.99 and the church... Now I don't want to sound like 01:00:59.19\01:01:00.76 those folks where I came from that said: "Well we have 01:01:00.96\01:01:02.69 the magisterium and we dare not think otherwise. " 01:01:02.89\01:01:04.79 But my goodness, think of the hubris it takes 01:01:05.63\01:01:08.26 to think that you know more than the church. 01:01:08.46\01:01:11.60 That you know more than what's been revealed to us 01:01:12.00\01:01:14.04 in the Spirit of Prophecy. 01:01:14.24\01:01:15.57 That you know more than the collective wisdom 01:01:15.60\01:01:17.44 of everybody in your congregation. 01:01:17.64\01:01:19.34 Here were some people who knew more than the rest of the church 01:01:19.74\01:01:22.71 and for reasons that seemed good to them 01:01:22.91\01:01:26.15 they decided they would step off the platform 01:01:26.55\01:01:29.08 and Paul said: "I marvel! I'm astonished! " 01:01:29.28\01:01:33.46 He spoke as was spoken earlier 01:01:33.86\01:01:36.42 "Let these people be anathema 01:01:36.62\01:01:38.56 who don't believe the true gospel. " 01:01:38.76\01:01:40.40 And then he talked about his own credentials as an apostle. 01:01:40.80\01:01:43.26 He said: "I received these revelations. I didn't confer 01:01:43.47\01:01:45.43 with anybody. I got what I got directly from God. " 01:01:45.63\01:01:48.54 You understand the pressure he's putting on them here. 01:01:49.64\01:01:52.11 "What I got I got from God. 01:01:52.31\01:01:54.88 Where did you get what you got? 01:01:55.28\01:01:57.28 And what do you have that can possibly be better 01:01:57.95\01:02:00.95 than this revelation that I received directly from 01:02:01.15\01:02:03.65 the Almighty? " 01:02:03.85\01:02:05.19 So Paul kind of lays into them right from the start. 01:02:05.55\01:02:08.16 It's not until chapter 2 that he gets to the point 01:02:08.56\01:02:11.53 of circumcision. And he starts to say 01:02:11.73\01:02:15.20 or he says in Galatians chapter 2 01:02:15.40\01:02:17.53 "I received the gospel of uncircumcision. " 01:02:17.73\01:02:22.80 That's a really strong term. 01:02:23.20\01:02:25.14 "This gospel message that I have, the gospel of our Lord 01:02:25.34\01:02:29.04 and Savior Jesus Christ: it's the gospel of uncircumcision. " 01:02:29.24\01:02:33.05 "So what do you have? It cannot be the truth... 01:02:33.45\01:02:37.15 it cannot be right. " He talks about the time 01:02:37.35\01:02:39.45 in verse 11 he withstood Peter to the face 01:02:39.65\01:02:43.43 because Peter was in error, you know. 01:02:43.63\01:02:45.69 And I want to look with you 01:02:46.09\01:02:47.43 in chapter 2 starting from verse 16. 01:02:47.63\01:02:51.40 Let's look there. 01:02:51.60\01:02:52.97 Galatians chapter 2 verse 16 01:02:53.17\01:02:56.17 Paul says: "Knowing that a man is not justified by the works 01:02:56.37\01:03:00.38 of the law... " He's talking about circumcision as the works 01:03:00.58\01:03:02.28 of the law. You're not justified that way. 01:03:02.48\01:03:05.05 "but by the faith of Jesus Christ... 01:03:05.25\01:03:07.28 even we who have believed in Jesus Christ... that we might 01:03:07.48\01:03:11.12 be justified by the... " What? "by the faith of Christ 01:03:11.32\01:03:15.09 and - what's that next word - "and not by the works 01:03:15.29\01:03:18.79 of the law. For by the works of the law shall no flesh 01:03:18.99\01:03:22.36 be justified. " Paul is really clear here. 01:03:22.56\01:03:25.23 You think this is a talk about circumcision. 01:03:25.43\01:03:30.37 It's not... it's about justification. 01:03:30.57\01:03:32.01 Wait! It's about salvation. 01:03:32.21\01:03:33.94 Let's take it a step further: it's about the gospel. 01:03:34.14\01:03:36.48 Paul's saying: "The gospel is at stake here! " 01:03:36.68\01:03:38.68 It mattered to him. This was Luther before 1517. 01:03:39.08\01:03:42.22 This was Luther before the castle church. 01:03:42.42\01:03:44.72 This was Luther long before the 95 Theses. 01:03:45.12\01:03:49.72 Luther was defending the gospel. 01:03:50.13\01:03:52.46 He wasn't attacking the church; he was defending the gospel. 01:03:52.66\01:03:55.80 He knew: "Ah, you could let the church teach whatever it wants 01:03:56.00\01:03:59.17 to teach but the church would be robbing people of the gospel 01:03:59.37\01:04:02.54 and we cannot let that happen. " Amen! 01:04:02.74\01:04:04.44 So Luther stood up and said "The people must know the truth 01:04:04.64\01:04:07.01 of the gospel. " 01:04:07.21\01:04:08.54 And Paul was doing the same thing here in Galatians. 01:04:08.74\01:04:11.28 "You've got to know the truth of the gospel. " 01:04:11.48\01:04:13.45 He goes on and he says in verse 20: 01:04:13.65\01:04:17.39 "I am crucified with Christ 01:04:17.59\01:04:19.79 nevertheless I live. 01:04:19.99\01:04:21.89 Yet not I, but... " What? 01:04:22.09\01:04:24.66 "Christ liveth in me. 01:04:24.86\01:04:26.39 And the life which I now live in the flesh 01:04:26.80\01:04:28.93 I live by the faith of the Son of God 01:04:29.13\01:04:32.33 who loved me and gave Himself for me. " 01:04:32.53\01:04:35.30 In contradisention to people who are living by 01:04:35.50\01:04:38.11 the works of the law, the works of the flesh... 01:04:38.31\01:04:40.71 whether it's circumcision or anything else. 01:04:40.91\01:04:42.98 Paul nails this! "I am crucified with Christ. " 01:04:43.18\01:04:48.02 So was he talking about circumcision? 01:04:48.22\01:04:49.58 He's talking about the gospel; 01:04:49.78\01:04:51.12 he's talking about justification; 01:04:51.15\01:04:52.49 he's talking about grace. 01:04:52.59\01:04:54.46 For he goes on and says: "This is how desperate 01:04:54.66\01:04:57.93 your situation is, Galatians. " 01:04:58.13\01:04:59.83 "I do not frustrate the grace of God. 01:05:00.23\01:05:03.30 If righteousness comes by the law, then Christ is dead... " 01:05:03.50\01:05:09.10 How? "in vain. " What you're doing is negating 01:05:09.30\01:05:13.17 the death of Jesus Christ 01:05:13.38\01:05:15.58 when you say that righteousness must come by 01:05:15.78\01:05:18.95 a work... a work of the law, a work of the flesh. " 01:05:19.15\01:05:22.35 Again, and Jill spoke to this eloquently when she said 01:05:22.75\01:05:25.32 "All right, we may not be hung up on this issue 01:05:25.52\01:05:27.62 but, boy, Christians today have their own issues. " 01:05:27.82\01:05:29.79 You know it's right to eat right. 01:05:30.46\01:05:31.99 It's right to dress right. 01:05:32.39\01:05:33.73 It's right to tithe right. 01:05:34.13\01:05:35.63 It's right to worship right, but you are not saved 01:05:35.83\01:05:37.90 by any of those things. 01:05:38.10\01:05:39.63 Once you are you become a foolish Galatian. 01:05:39.83\01:05:42.47 Dress as right as you can... modesty's important. 01:05:43.37\01:05:45.47 The world's forgotten that, but a uniform doesn't get you 01:05:45.67\01:05:47.71 through the gates. Amen! Eat as well and as healthily 01:05:47.91\01:05:51.41 as you can. That's good for you... that's GOOD for you! 01:05:51.61\01:05:53.88 But the road to hell is paved with egg substitute 01:05:54.28\01:05:59.09 and fake meat. 01:05:59.29\01:06:01.59 It's right to eat right, but the minute you think 01:06:05.83\01:06:08.30 you're better than anybody else 01:06:08.50\01:06:09.90 or closer to God or you've somehow earned favor with God 01:06:10.10\01:06:14.30 man, that blessing's turned into a curse. 01:06:14.50\01:06:16.94 You've got the right day. Well, congratulations. 01:06:17.34\01:06:19.91 The people who nailed Jesus to the cross had the right day. 01:06:20.11\01:06:23.14 But if that right day is being carried about by a person 01:06:24.41\01:06:26.88 who's still mean and hateful and angry and bitter and critical 01:06:27.08\01:06:29.32 and unconverted, that right day is going to come back 01:06:29.52\01:06:32.45 and bite you in the judgment. God's going to say: 01:06:32.65\01:06:34.22 "You had all this light... what did it do for you? 01:06:34.42\01:06:36.22 You didn't allow it to sanctify you. " 01:06:36.62\01:06:39.13 Because the truth is some- thing that will sanctify us. 01:06:39.39\01:06:41.80 Now I don't know but I think the clock here at 3ABN is faulty. 01:06:42.30\01:06:46.27 It goes extraordinarily fast! 01:06:48.67\01:06:51.37 So let me hasten on a pace. 01:06:52.07\01:06:53.88 Paul say in Galatians chapter 3 01:06:54.08\01:06:55.54 how do you get the Spirit? How do you get it? 01:06:55.74\01:06:57.25 And he talks about Abraham. Oh, he's appealing now 01:06:57.55\01:07:00.02 to the father... that's father Abraham. 01:07:00.22\01:07:03.08 He's appealing to... You know, if anybody knew anything about 01:07:03.69\01:07:06.55 circumcision it was Abraham. 01:07:06.76\01:07:08.32 And he goes back and he says: "Abraham 01:07:09.49\01:07:12.03 was made righteous by faith. " 01:07:12.23\01:07:15.03 He said: "If you've been baptized, 01:07:15.23\01:07:18.40 then you've put on Christ" he says later on in chapter 3. 01:07:18.60\01:07:22.07 He says: "There's no more Jew nor Greek, 01:07:22.27\01:07:23.67 bond nor free, male nor female. " 01:07:23.97\01:07:26.27 You've got to be careful how you toss that verse around. 01:07:26.47\01:07:27.88 Of course distinctions still apply but in Jesus you're one. 01:07:28.08\01:07:30.71 There's no advantage in terms of salvation 01:07:30.91\01:07:32.91 being one or the other... the other or the one. 01:07:33.11\01:07:35.25 We're all one in Christ Jesus. 01:07:35.45\01:07:37.15 And in Romans chapter 4 he says... sorry, Romans... 01:07:37.35\01:07:40.02 Galatians chapter 4 he says: "You've gone back to the weak 01:07:40.22\01:07:43.63 and beggarly elements. " 01:07:43.83\01:07:46.33 Man oh man, he couldn't have made this any stronger 01:07:46.93\01:07:50.57 if he could have. "You all have enslaved yourselves. 01:07:50.77\01:07:54.80 Why are you going to back to these things that are 01:07:55.00\01:07:57.17 worthless? " 01:07:57.37\01:07:58.71 Justification comes from God; what is grace anyway? 01:07:58.84\01:08:04.71 We are not saved by the works of the law. 01:08:04.91\01:08:07.92 And the Galatians weren't just saying 01:08:08.12\01:08:10.89 "You know, we prefer to do this. " 01:08:11.05\01:08:12.45 If you were to confer with your doctor when your baby boy 01:08:12.85\01:08:15.02 is born and say: "We just think this is right for our family. " 01:08:15.22\01:08:17.83 "No harm done. That's OK... no harm done. " 01:08:18.03\01:08:20.66 Paul wasn't saying this is some- thing that a Jew or a Gentile 01:08:20.86\01:08:23.26 should never ever do. 01:08:23.47\01:08:24.80 He's simply saying that "Now that you all have elevated 01:08:24.83\01:08:27.47 to the status of justification and righteousness and right 01:08:27.67\01:08:30.87 standing with God... Ah, we have a problem then. 01:08:31.07\01:08:34.71 That's not right. " 01:08:34.91\01:08:36.28 He appeals to them: "Have I become your enemy? " 01:08:36.68\01:08:38.98 Knowing by the time he gets to Galatians 4:16 01:08:39.18\01:08:41.95 he probably is their enemy now. 01:08:42.15\01:08:43.55 In Galatians 5:1 he appeals: "Stand therefore 01:08:45.05\01:08:49.02 in the liberty wherewith Christ has made you free 01:08:49.22\01:08:52.79 and don't become entangled again with the yoke of bondage. " 01:08:52.99\01:08:57.33 Listen: when you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior 01:08:57.53\01:09:00.34 and you repent of your sins 01:09:00.54\01:09:02.17 you call on Him to fill your heart with His presence: 01:09:02.37\01:09:04.84 that's salvation. And you may say: "But I'm not 01:09:05.04\01:09:08.44 the finished product. " Look around you. 01:09:08.64\01:09:10.91 I'm not the finished product. 01:09:13.98\01:09:15.75 That's why we grow in grace. 01:09:15.95\01:09:18.35 We grow in grace. We grow in grace towards the kingdom of 01:09:18.55\01:09:22.36 heaven. Certainly we're not the finished product. 01:09:22.56\01:09:24.39 And if you ever look in the mirror and say: 01:09:24.59\01:09:26.09 "Huh... I think I'm the finished product" 01:09:26.29\01:09:28.56 then you are deceived and you are deluded. 01:09:29.83\01:09:33.00 And now what you've said is: "Thank you, Jesus, for getting 01:09:33.20\01:09:35.87 me this far but I've got it from here. " 01:09:36.07\01:09:37.84 "I'm the finished product. " 01:09:38.04\01:09:39.51 "Let me run to the finish line; I can do this now. " 01:09:39.71\01:09:41.71 "Thanks so much for your help. " 01:09:41.91\01:09:43.38 Oh, we need Jesus desperately... desperately. 01:09:43.58\01:09:45.85 And Paul was saying: "Justification comes by grace. 01:09:46.05\01:09:48.85 By grace! Don't frustrate the grace of God. 01:09:49.05\01:09:51.65 Through faith, faith in Jesus, I have been crucified 01:09:52.05\01:09:55.36 with Christ, nevertheless I live. " 01:09:55.56\01:09:56.93 He talks about that beautiful salvation experience 01:09:57.13\01:09:59.33 that Philippians 2:13 elaborates on. 01:09:59.53\01:10:02.83 Where Jill quoted that beautiful, most powerful verse 01:10:03.23\01:10:06.57 of scripture. He says to these people: 01:10:06.77\01:10:09.27 "Christ has become of no effect to you. " 01:10:09.47\01:10:11.47 Can you imagine that? Of no effect to you. 01:10:11.67\01:10:14.91 So we'll look at these last three verses. 01:10:15.68\01:10:17.65 Paul says in verse 18 of chapter 6 01:10:18.55\01:10:23.08 and not chapter 3... verse 18. 01:10:23.28\01:10:25.49 Sorry... verse 16. 01:10:25.89\01:10:27.22 "As many of them as walk according to this rule 01:10:27.26\01:10:29.52 peace be on them. " That's the rule. He's... 01:10:29.72\01:10:32.36 He's clear about that. He says... I like this: 01:10:32.56\01:10:36.40 "From henceforth let no man trouble me. " 01:10:36.60\01:10:38.67 "I don't want to be bothered about this any more. " 01:10:41.07\01:10:42.80 I don't know if this is frustration coming through. 01:10:44.37\01:10:46.34 I don't know. Sounds a little bit like it. 01:10:46.54\01:10:48.78 I wouldn't charge him with that. I would say this is 01:10:48.98\01:10:50.71 just straight talk. "Let's not go over this ground any more. " 01:10:50.91\01:10:54.45 "Let's not bother with this any more. " 01:10:54.65\01:10:56.38 "For I bear in my body the marks of the Lord Jesus. " 01:10:57.39\01:11:00.49 You know, the lesson asks a really interesting question. 01:11:00.69\01:11:03.29 The lesson says essentially 01:11:05.19\01:11:07.96 what has following Christ cost you? 01:11:08.16\01:11:11.43 You know, you could be living in a place 01:11:13.34\01:11:15.24 where you've lost your family 01:11:15.44\01:11:19.27 to be in the church. 01:11:19.47\01:11:21.38 You could be living in a place 01:11:21.78\01:11:23.28 where you lost your job... lost your life. 01:11:23.48\01:11:26.48 There are some countries where people escape across the border, 01:11:26.88\01:11:30.02 get baptized and they go back and they don't tell anybody 01:11:31.25\01:11:33.99 what they've done because if they did 01:11:34.19\01:11:37.26 they'd be executed. 01:11:37.66\01:11:39.33 What did Paul say in Romans chapter 8? 01:11:39.93\01:11:45.83 Just powerful: Romans chapter 8. 01:11:46.03\01:11:49.87 "For I reckon that the suffer- ings of this present time... " 01:11:50.07\01:11:52.44 verse 18... "are not worthy to be compared 01:11:52.64\01:11:55.18 with the glory which shall be revealed in us. " 01:11:55.38\01:11:58.01 I want to say this just very briefly. 01:11:58.41\01:12:00.22 For us... we're not suffering for Christ. 01:12:02.12\01:12:04.35 You know in India where they drag you out of your home 01:12:05.39\01:12:07.49 and maybe burn you in some villages 01:12:07.69\01:12:09.99 or in Iran where they'll take you and stone you, 01:12:10.39\01:12:12.66 in Egypt where they'll destroy your business 01:12:12.86\01:12:14.56 and run you out of town 01:12:14.76\01:12:16.10 yeah... that's suffering. 01:12:17.13\01:12:18.70 But for us... You know, you lost a job. Look at you. 01:12:19.50\01:12:23.04 You're well fed... you're OK. 01:12:23.24\01:12:24.84 There's someone who's in a snit with you. 01:12:25.24\01:12:27.54 You know, that's OK. Paul was stoned. 01:12:28.08\01:12:29.98 The marks that he wrote about in Galatians chapter 6: 01:12:30.18\01:12:33.11 he was stoned, he was beaten, he was whipped. 01:12:33.31\01:12:35.78 And he was able to say: "I reckon that the sufferings 01:12:36.79\01:12:39.35 of this present time are not worthy to be compared 01:12:39.55\01:12:42.62 with the glory that shall be revealed in us. " 01:12:42.82\01:12:44.43 Amen! Paul said they're really not much. 01:12:44.63\01:12:48.10 He said: "He that spared not His own Son but delivered Him up 01:12:48.50\01:12:51.60 freely for us all, how shall He not with Him also 01:12:51.80\01:12:54.64 freely give us all things? " And then go on and read 01:12:54.84\01:12:58.24 late in Romans 8: "Who shall separate us 01:12:58.44\01:13:01.98 from the love of Christ? " It's powerful! 01:13:02.84\01:13:05.21 Paul's message was clear; 01:13:05.41\01:13:07.12 Paul's message was a message we ought to take on board. 01:13:07.32\01:13:09.92 Paul's message - God's message to us 01:13:10.12\01:13:12.79 today in the context of this lesson is Christ. 01:13:12.99\01:13:17.13 Thank you, Miss Mollie. Amen and amen! 01:13:17.63\01:13:19.39 And you know, our prayer for each one... 01:13:19.59\01:13:22.13 In Galatians 6:1 Paul says: "Brethren, if any man 01:13:22.33\01:13:26.50 be overtaken in a fault... " Our prayer 01:13:26.70\01:13:28.84 for each one of you and each one of us 01:13:29.04\01:13:32.17 is that God will "search me, O God, and know my heart. " 01:13:32.37\01:13:35.64 Isn't that where everyone is saying things can be hidden 01:13:35.84\01:13:38.95 is in our heart. "Search me, O God, 01:13:39.15\01:13:40.48 and know my heart; try me and know my thoughts. 01:13:40.65\01:13:43.08 See if there be any evil way in us 01:13:43.49\01:13:45.15 and lead us in the path everlasting. " 01:13:45.35\01:13:47.12 Would you like for that to be the prayer 01:13:47.32\01:13:49.12 over your life today? You know, we are about to take 01:13:49.32\01:13:52.53 a 15-minute break. First, I want to thank all of you. 01:13:52.73\01:13:55.46 You did an incredible job. 01:13:55.66\01:13:57.17 But we will be back here in the 3ABN Worship Center 01:13:57.57\01:14:01.80 in fifteen minutes. 01:14:02.00\01:14:03.47 And we're going to have Little Richard with us. 01:14:03.87\01:14:07.34 So in the meantime you that are viewing 01:14:07.54\01:14:09.74 or listening to 3ABN on media 01:14:09.94\01:14:12.65 we have Tim Parton that's going to be playing 01:14:12.85\01:14:15.18 some beautiful music.
