Amen! 00:05:22.58\00:05:24.89 Isn't that a beautiful song? 00:05:24.92\00:05:27.42 It encapsulates the reason why we're here tonight; 00:05:27.46\00:05:30.23 to allow God's word to speak. 00:05:30.26\00:05:32.56 I am so excited about tonight's topic, because I know personally 00:05:32.59\00:05:38.20 what the word of God has done in my own life; 00:05:38.23\00:05:40.60 how the word of God is empowering, transforming. 00:05:40.64\00:05:46.34 It is a book that breathes. 00:05:46.37\00:05:50.21 It is the only breathing book on planet earth. 00:05:50.25\00:05:54.28 And so tonight as we open God's word, this living word, 00:05:54.32\00:05:59.29 this transforming word, this word that has been sustained 00:05:59.32\00:06:05.03 through the course of human history. 00:06:05.06\00:06:07.96 The only book that has survived every human attempt 00:06:08.00\00:06:13.13 of extinction: the word of God. 00:06:13.17\00:06:15.57 This book born from the heart of God, transferred to the heart 00:06:15.70\00:06:21.64 of man, this book born in the mind of God 00:06:21.68\00:06:25.91 to convert the mind of man. 00:06:25.95\00:06:28.28 Tonight I bring to you the book that breathes. 00:06:28.32\00:06:32.22 But before we open God's word, and have it transform our minds, 00:06:32.25\00:06:37.26 and convert our hearts, we go before the Lord to ask for 00:06:37.29\00:06:42.16 His presence and power. 00:06:42.20\00:06:43.97 Let us pray. Father in Heaven, this is an opportunity for 00:06:44.00\00:06:50.31 humanity to be confronted by the transforming, 00:06:50.34\00:06:54.94 powerful word of God. 00:06:54.98\00:06:57.05 And so Lord, do what You do best. 00:06:57.08\00:07:00.88 In Jesus' name, Amen. 00:07:00.92\00:07:03.75 I heard the story about a young lady that met a young man that 00:07:03.79\00:07:08.72 desired so much to take her out on a date. 00:07:08.76\00:07:12.19 And as they sat in a restaurant together, she seemed awfully 00:07:12.23\00:07:16.40 uninterested as he pressed every attempt to gain 00:07:16.43\00:07:20.64 access to her mind; trying to find one subject after the other 00:07:20.67\00:07:25.01 to spark up a conversation to gain access to her heart. 00:07:25.04\00:07:29.04 And every attempt he made it was like missing 00:07:29.08\00:07:32.38 the mark, missing the goal. 00:07:32.41\00:07:34.65 And he continued to file through the topics that went in 00:07:34.68\00:07:39.82 and out of his mind. 00:07:39.85\00:07:41.19 And then he asked her the question, Do you read? 00:07:41.22\00:07:42.56 And she said, Yes, I'm reading a book right now, 00:07:43.93\00:07:46.13 but it is the most boring book I've ever read. 00:07:46.16\00:07:49.10 And he said, Well, who wrote it? 00:07:49.13\00:07:51.73 And as she mentioned the authors name, he leaned back in his seat 00:07:51.77\00:07:56.64 in that restaurant and he said, Well, I wrote that book. 00:07:56.67\00:07:58.97 And all of a sudden she felt fairly embarrassed that she had 00:08:00.58\00:08:06.72 made such a negative comment about the book he wrote. 00:08:06.75\00:08:09.08 But that evening and the next evening they made a plan to 00:08:09.12\00:08:12.02 meet for the next weekend. 00:08:12.05\00:08:13.39 After one week of reading that book with a different 00:08:13.42\00:08:16.22 determination, and a different attitude, understanding the 00:08:16.26\00:08:19.26 difference of a relationship; after one week he met with 00:08:19.29\00:08:22.33 her again and said, How is the book that I wrote? 00:08:22.36\00:08:25.73 She said, It is the most wonderful book I've ever read. 00:08:25.77\00:08:28.30 The question is, What made the difference? 00:08:28.34\00:08:31.04 The difference is relationship. 00:08:31.07\00:08:33.21 The word of God can do absolutely nothing for us 00:08:33.24\00:08:37.05 without relationship. 00:08:37.08\00:08:39.08 You know, in the Bible, in the book of Acts 4:31, and I thank 00:08:39.11\00:08:43.15 the Lord for our graphic team. 00:08:43.18\00:08:44.52 They are so kind to include our graphics. 00:08:44.55\00:08:46.96 But there's a specific Scripture that I want to begin tonight 00:08:46.99\00:08:49.46 with in Acts 4:31 that talks about the power of the 00:08:49.49\00:08:53.70 New Testament church. 00:08:53.73\00:08:55.06 And it goes as follows: 00:08:55.10\00:08:56.43 They spoke the word of God with boldness. 00:09:09.78\00:09:12.41 In other words, without shame, without fear. 00:09:12.45\00:09:14.98 And one thing our world needs today is for the word of God to 00:09:15.02\00:09:18.72 be spoken without fear, and without apology. 00:09:18.75\00:09:21.59 There is no other book on the planet that 00:09:21.62\00:09:24.39 can transform a life. 00:09:24.46\00:09:25.79 There is no other book on this globe that can change 00:09:25.83\00:09:30.17 a persons mind and direction of life. 00:09:30.20\00:09:33.00 When you look at the New Testament church you find 00:09:33.03\00:09:35.27 twelve times in the book of Acts the success of the early 00:09:35.30\00:09:39.17 church is described. 00:09:39.21\00:09:40.54 And each time it is described it is linked to the 00:09:40.58\00:09:44.35 proclamation of the word. 00:09:44.38\00:09:46.15 Empowered lives begin with a relationship 00:09:46.18\00:09:51.25 with the word of God. 00:09:51.29\00:09:52.62 As you continue reading in the book of Acts, which is the book 00:09:52.65\00:09:55.22 of the Acts of the Apostles, you also discover that when they 00:09:55.26\00:09:59.46 went from city to city, from town to villages, 00:09:59.49\00:10:01.76 when they stood before the Sanhedrin's, 00:10:01.80\00:10:03.97 when they stood before the Jews that were not converted, 00:10:04.00\00:10:06.23 when they stood before the kings, every attempt was made 00:10:06.27\00:10:09.04 to prevent the proclamation, and the teaching of God's word. 00:10:09.07\00:10:12.47 But the Bible says in Acts 12: 24, I like these words: 00:10:12.51\00:10:16.41 And so tonight allow me to introduce to you the only living 00:10:20.75\00:10:25.75 book on the planet, the Word of God. 00:10:25.79\00:10:27.56 Can somebody say Amen? Amen! 00:10:27.59\00:10:29.42 The only book from heaven to earth that will survive every 00:10:29.49\00:10:33.70 attempt made by humanity to spell its extinction, 00:10:33.73\00:10:37.80 the only book God breathed, Holy Spirit inspired, 00:10:37.83\00:10:41.84 it transformed and changed lives. 00:10:41.87\00:10:43.94 And if it changed lives in the past, it can change lives today. 00:10:44.01\00:10:48.41 If the preaching of God's word was needed at the inauguration 00:10:48.91\00:10:52.31 of the church, how much more is it needed as we prepare for the 00:10:52.35\00:10:55.75 coronation of the church? 00:10:55.78\00:10:57.12 If the word of God was needed in the early days of the church, 00:10:57.15\00:11:00.86 how much more is God's word needed today in the 00:11:00.89\00:11:04.03 latter days of the church? 00:11:04.06\00:11:05.99 When Jesus outlined the conditions of the last days, 00:11:06.86\00:11:10.03 in Matthew 24 He began to describe a condition that would 00:11:10.07\00:11:15.50 become a worldwide concern. 00:11:15.54\00:11:17.47 Notice, as He spoke to His disciples privately, 00:11:17.51\00:11:20.81 notice the words that Jesus conveyed to us today. 00:11:20.84\00:11:24.11 Matthew 24:7, 8. And Jesus said to them, 00:11:24.15\00:11:27.02 Can you tell me, Are nations rising against nations today? 00:11:30.25\00:11:34.32 God's word is accurate. 00:11:34.36\00:11:35.82 Thousands of years ago it comes to fruition before our eyes. 00:11:35.86\00:11:39.89 Together, what else? 00:11:44.17\00:11:45.50 My wife and I live in the Midwest where 3ABN is located. 00:11:52.47\00:11:55.88 That's the mid-west of the United States. 00:11:55.94\00:11:57.45 And just a few days ago we heard that there was an earthquake. 00:11:57.51\00:12:01.35 Now when we lived in California, the earthquake state, 00:12:01.38\00:12:04.29 we never felt an earthquake. 00:12:04.32\00:12:05.65 We live in the midwest now, and we are being haunted, 00:12:05.69\00:12:08.89 and hunted by earthquakes. 00:12:08.92\00:12:10.46 The Bible says, There will be earthquakes in various places; 00:12:10.49\00:12:13.80 meaning places that earthquakes are not known to be, 00:12:13.86\00:12:16.97 will begin to occur in the latter days. 00:12:17.00\00:12:20.47 But as you look at this description of Jesus, 00:12:20.50\00:12:23.20 there's a phrase here that I like to emphasize even more. 00:12:23.24\00:12:26.24 He used a word that describes a catastrophe, 00:12:26.27\00:12:29.41 an epidemic, a deprivation. 00:12:29.44\00:12:31.75 He uses the word famine. 00:12:31.78\00:12:34.02 What word did I say? famine, which is not just a physical 00:12:34.05\00:12:38.72 condition, but I suggest to you that a famine is a 00:12:38.75\00:12:41.52 Spiritual condition. Look at Amos 8:11. 00:12:41.56\00:12:44.79 Amos 8:11, and this is a prophecy that has come to pass 00:12:45.53\00:12:51.30 before our eyes, especially in our days. 00:12:51.33\00:12:54.24 The Lord said, 00:12:54.27\00:12:55.60 And can I alter that? 00:12:57.21\00:12:58.54 Behold the days are here. 00:12:58.57\00:12:59.91 I can guarantee you that there are not many places in London 00:13:14.22\00:13:18.56 where crowds are gathering, where people are pushing against 00:13:18.59\00:13:22.93 one another to hear the word of God. 00:13:22.96\00:13:24.43 I can guarantee you that stadiums today are not being 00:13:24.47\00:13:27.34 packed to hear the word of God. Not in London. 00:13:27.40\00:13:29.80 I can guarantee you in major cities people are not staying up 00:13:29.84\00:13:33.07 all night to get in line to hear the word of God. 00:13:33.11\00:13:35.31 But when you read the text it almost suggests that God is 00:13:35.34\00:13:39.78 the One that is divinely orchestrating this famine. 00:13:39.81\00:13:43.42 But the reality is when the Bread of Life is rejected, 00:13:43.45\00:13:46.99 when you fail to eat that which gives you life, 00:13:47.02\00:13:49.69 the natural result is famine. 00:13:49.72\00:13:52.43 And so today the world is starving. 00:13:52.46\00:13:54.36 They're not starving for money. 00:13:54.40\00:13:55.96 They're not starving for entertainment. 00:13:56.00\00:13:58.10 They're not starving for finances. 00:13:58.13\00:14:00.04 They're not starving for the things that are temporary. 00:14:00.07\00:14:02.60 But the world is starving. 00:14:02.64\00:14:04.51 The world is emaciated. 00:14:04.54\00:14:06.37 The world is famished. 00:14:06.41\00:14:08.21 Because the world does not have a diet for the word of God. 00:14:08.24\00:14:11.75 If there's something that people in London need today it is a 00:14:11.78\00:14:15.25 thirst, and a hunger for the word of God. 00:14:15.28\00:14:18.75 He said if you hunger and thirst after righteousness 00:14:18.79\00:14:23.02 you will be filled, which means anything else you hunger after, 00:14:23.06\00:14:27.10 that is not God's word, you won't be filled. 00:14:27.13\00:14:28.96 That's where addictions come from. 00:14:29.00\00:14:30.77 People look for substances like drugs and alcohol to fill a 00:14:30.80\00:14:34.87 vacuum that can only be filled by God. 00:14:34.90\00:14:38.17 That's why they become addicted, because they need more and more. 00:14:38.21\00:14:41.38 But I would say to you that I've discovered in my own life 00:14:41.41\00:14:43.91 when I'm discouraged, even as a pastor, when I'm tired, 00:14:43.95\00:14:46.72 when I'm drawn out, when I turn to God's word it is though the 00:14:46.78\00:14:52.32 light comes back on, and the power begins to flow again, 00:14:52.35\00:14:54.09 and life begins to be meaningful. 00:14:56.59\00:14:59.03 When the world doesn't make sense, 00:14:59.06\00:15:00.93 when politics is leading us in the wrong direction, 00:15:00.96\00:15:03.73 all you've got to do is open God's word and you can hear, 00:15:03.77\00:15:07.17 as it were, the voice of God speaking to the 00:15:07.20\00:15:10.41 needs of humanity. 00:15:10.44\00:15:11.77 A young man called me one day, and he was... 00:15:11.81\00:15:13.61 When he heard a series I did on the occult, 00:15:13.64\00:15:15.64 and the entertainment industry. 00:15:15.68\00:15:17.01 He was involved in a very dark place. 00:15:17.05\00:15:20.55 He was dressing in black, wearing black fingernails. 00:15:20.58\00:15:24.35 He would always color his face with black outlines, 00:15:24.39\00:15:27.66 and he was involved in many of these occult symbols. 00:15:27.69\00:15:30.43 And he said to me, When I heard about your series, 00:15:30.49\00:15:33.19 it didn't make sense. 00:15:33.23\00:15:35.66 I had no desire; I didn't want to see it. 00:15:35.70\00:15:38.10 But my teenage friends continued to press that I would watch it. 00:15:38.13\00:15:42.60 And he said, Sir, the reason I'm calling you now is because 00:15:42.64\00:15:46.07 God reached me through the word. 00:15:46.11\00:15:47.68 And he said, Now that I study my Bible, I can almost... 00:15:47.71\00:15:51.75 This is a seventeen year old. 00:15:51.81\00:15:53.18 He said, I can almost hear God audibly speaking to me. 00:15:53.21\00:15:56.89 Can somebody say Amen? Amen! 00:15:56.92\00:15:58.49 Because he exposed himself to the only living book, 00:15:58.52\00:16:01.42 the word of God, the word that speaks. 00:16:01.46\00:16:03.79 And so the question is, Why is the world famished? 00:16:03.83\00:16:07.10 The reality is the world is socially motivated. 00:16:07.13\00:16:10.30 But Jesus wants His followers to be Scripturally motivated. 00:16:10.33\00:16:14.57 Our foundation is in the word of God. 00:16:14.60\00:16:17.94 I was sitting with a pastor one time on a television program 00:16:17.97\00:16:21.14 in California, and I remember he began to shoot questions my way. 00:16:21.18\00:16:26.25 And every question he posed I responded by saying, 00:16:26.28\00:16:30.05 the word of God says, or thus says the Lord. 00:16:30.09\00:16:32.25 And he said to me with an angry face expression, he said, 00:16:32.32\00:16:35.32 Can't you just give me your opinion without 00:16:35.36\00:16:37.63 saying, The Bible says? 00:16:37.66\00:16:38.99 And I said, Sir, my opinion doesn't matter. 00:16:39.03\00:16:41.80 If God's word said it, we can trust it. 00:16:41.83\00:16:44.70 What do you say? Amen! 00:16:44.73\00:16:46.07 But my opinion is like a cup with holes in it. 00:16:46.10\00:16:49.27 Opinions change, attitudes change, suggestions change, 00:16:49.30\00:16:53.91 philosophy changes, but the word of God endures forever. 00:16:53.94\00:16:57.85 Consider some very interesting facts about the Bible. 00:16:57.88\00:17:01.78 The Bible was written over a 1500 year period. 00:17:01.82\00:17:05.32 Now how many books can you think of that were written 00:17:05.35\00:17:08.59 over a 1500 year period, where the authors are amazingly 00:17:08.62\00:17:14.73 synchronized with one another? 00:17:14.76\00:17:16.26 How many people can go back to the book of Genesis, 00:17:16.30\00:17:20.54 and then open Revelation and find such myriad language 00:17:20.57\00:17:24.77 by people that never met one another? people who are 00:17:24.81\00:17:27.21 separated by thousands of generations? 00:17:27.24\00:17:29.64 You can open the book of Matthew and read forty-two generations 00:17:29.68\00:17:32.95 in the very first chapter. 00:17:33.01\00:17:34.35 And then you begin to discover what was said forty-two 00:17:34.38\00:17:37.89 generations ago, or more than seven hundred years before, 00:17:37.92\00:17:41.46 was coming to pass with startling accuracy, 00:17:41.49\00:17:44.56 written by men that had never even heard each other's name 00:17:44.59\00:17:48.93 except for those who are alive at the time of the 00:17:48.96\00:17:51.93 fulfillment of God's word. 00:17:51.97\00:17:53.30 God's word stands fast forever and ever. 00:17:53.34\00:17:56.94 The Bible also is not a single book, 00:17:56.97\00:17:59.17 but a volume of sixty-six books written by forty-four authors. 00:17:59.21\00:18:03.24 But the reality of the Bible is the real author of God's word 00:18:03.28\00:18:07.18 is God Himself. What do you say? Amen! 00:18:07.22\00:18:09.62 Listen carefully, and let me move a little quicker. 00:18:09.65\00:18:11.49 2 Timothy 3:16, 17. And the Bible says about itself: 00:18:11.52\00:18:16.73 All Scripture... How many Scriptures? all. 00:18:16.76\00:18:20.13 I like another text that says that, The man of God may not 00:18:38.98\00:18:42.72 be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 00:18:42.75\00:18:46.82 I've been in situations with very educated individuals, 00:18:46.86\00:18:49.79 double degrees, very intellectual, very esoteric. 00:18:49.82\00:18:53.29 And sometimes I feel very small. 00:18:53.33\00:18:55.63 But then they make the mistake and tumble on the topic of 00:18:55.66\00:18:58.57 topic of the Bible. 00:18:58.60\00:18:59.93 because that's a book I'm familiar with. 00:18:59.97\00:19:01.30 And my heart begins to pulse and beat, 00:19:01.34\00:19:02.67 because that's a book I'm familiar with. 00:19:02.70\00:19:04.67 And I've seen men with degrees too long to even know what they 00:19:04.71\00:19:08.31 mean: Th, Dh, Ph, MA, and I'm thinking 00:19:08.34\00:19:12.91 all I have is a BA; a born again. 00:19:12.95\00:19:14.88 Come on somebody! Amen! 00:19:14.92\00:19:16.92 And I hear these men recite philosophies and theories. 00:19:16.95\00:19:20.29 I sat in a class and my instructor was an atheist. 00:19:20.32\00:19:23.16 And he said to me, as I was taking in college some courses 00:19:23.19\00:19:26.46 in electronics, and he said.. 00:19:26.49\00:19:27.83 he dazzled, and bedazzled, and captured the minds of the 00:19:27.86\00:19:31.23 students for about thirty minutes 00:19:31.27\00:19:33.34 until I couldn't take any more. 00:19:33.37\00:19:34.84 And I said, Instructor, I called him something else, 00:19:34.87\00:19:40.54 but I said Instructor, can I ask you a question? 00:19:40.58\00:19:42.41 He was a devout atheist. 00:19:42.44\00:19:43.78 I said, Can I ask you something? 00:19:43.81\00:19:45.35 He said, Sure. Mr. Spa was his name. 00:19:45.38\00:19:50.09 He always stroked his beard. 00:19:50.12\00:19:51.45 He looked very hippie, as it were. 00:19:51.49\00:19:53.42 And I said, Are you married? I am. 00:19:53.46\00:19:59.29 I said, Why? Because I wanted a wife. 00:19:59.33\00:20:03.67 I said, But who said you need to be married? Well... 00:20:03.70\00:20:09.70 I said, Mr. Spa, could I take you to the next level? 00:20:09.74\00:20:12.64 If I went to bed with your wife, would that be wrong? 00:20:12.67\00:20:17.08 Well, of course it would be wrong. 00:20:17.11\00:20:18.98 Who said? I asked him. 00:20:19.01\00:20:21.48 I said, Mr. Spa, why do we die? 00:20:21.52\00:20:26.79 And he said, Well, eventually all mechanical 00:20:26.82\00:20:29.32 instruments break down. 00:20:29.36\00:20:31.83 I said, Are you a mechanical instrument? 00:20:31.86\00:20:33.40 He said, Well, actually not. 00:20:33.43\00:20:34.76 Because we're taking electronics he knew that he 00:20:34.80\00:20:37.63 was not mechanical. 00:20:37.67\00:20:39.17 He knew that he was physical. 00:20:39.20\00:20:40.57 And we continued back and forth for about 30 to 45 minutes. 00:20:40.60\00:20:43.71 He entertained me. 00:20:43.74\00:20:45.07 After the class somebody said to me, Well, what 00:20:45.11\00:20:47.51 church do you belong to? 00:20:47.54\00:20:48.98 And I said, Well, I'm a Seventh-day Adventist. 00:20:49.01\00:20:50.41 And he said, What's seven days in advance? 00:20:50.45\00:20:52.75 I said, No, that's not what I said. 00:20:52.78\00:20:55.68 But when you look at the Bible you discover that these 00:20:56.72\00:21:00.42 66 books are broken down: 39 Old Testament books, 00:21:00.46\00:21:04.89 27 New Testament books. 00:21:04.93\00:21:07.23 In other words, the Old Testament is the New Testament 00:21:07.26\00:21:10.60 concealed, and the New Testament is the Old Testament revealed. 00:21:10.63\00:21:14.44 And, by the way, when you continue studying, 00:21:14.47\00:21:16.27 the word testament simply means covenant. 00:21:16.30\00:21:18.94 It has other meanings, covenant or contract, testament. 00:21:18.97\00:21:22.18 When you hear people say that they are New Testament 00:21:22.21\00:21:24.41 Christians it's amazing to me, because New Testament Christians 00:21:24.45\00:21:28.55 were not New Testament Christians. 00:21:28.58\00:21:29.95 They were Old Testament Christians. 00:21:29.98\00:21:31.45 There was no New Testament in Paul's day. 00:21:31.49\00:21:34.06 There was no New Testament in John's day. 00:21:34.09\00:21:36.32 There was no New Testament in Jesus' day. 00:21:36.36\00:21:38.49 They quoted from the Old Testament. 00:21:38.53\00:21:41.43 So if you're a New Testament Christian, you have to ask 00:21:41.46\00:21:44.17 the apostle Paul why did not he have a New Testament. 00:21:44.20\00:21:46.97 It was not even constructed in his day. 00:21:47.00\00:21:49.27 You find in the Bible people are often confused about the word 00:21:49.30\00:21:53.11 between testament and covenant. 00:21:53.14\00:21:55.04 And while those words are interchangeable, they are not 00:21:55.08\00:21:58.65 contextually synonymous. 00:21:58.68\00:22:00.42 Let me give you an example. 00:22:00.45\00:22:02.18 Look at Hebrews 8:10. 00:22:02.22\00:22:03.79 It's going to be on the screen. The Bible says: 00:22:03.82\00:22:06.35 That's written in the New Testament. 00:22:23.77\00:22:25.51 But a lot of people don't know that while that is a 00:22:25.54\00:22:29.64 New Testament testament, while that is a New Testament 00:22:29.68\00:22:37.45 contract, that contract was made in the Old Testament. 00:22:37.49\00:22:41.92 Look at the exact words in Jeremiah 31:33. 00:22:41.96\00:22:45.49 The same exact words. 00:22:45.53\00:22:47.00 People often turn to this and say, See, this is the covenant 00:22:47.03\00:22:50.07 that the Lord made. 00:22:50.10\00:22:51.43 Whether you go to the Old Testament or the New Testament, 00:22:51.47\00:22:53.80 you cannot get away from God's law. 00:22:53.84\00:22:55.44 It is in both places. What do you say? 00:22:55.47\00:22:57.01 Look at how accurate, and how synonymous these Scriptures 00:22:57.04\00:23:00.21 are with each other. 00:23:00.24\00:23:01.58 He made that agreement in the Old Testament, and continued to 00:23:19.06\00:23:23.87 ratify it in the New Testament. 00:23:23.90\00:23:25.30 Long after the ceremonial system had died off, long after Jesus 00:23:25.33\00:23:29.60 had ascended back to heaven, long after the apostles began 00:23:29.64\00:23:33.94 to preach to the Gentiles, the word that God confirmed in the 00:23:33.98\00:23:38.28 Old Testament was reconfirmed in the New. 00:23:38.31\00:23:40.42 That's why the apostle Paul says, All Scripture... 00:23:40.48\00:23:43.85 How much Scripture? all Scripture is given by 00:23:43.89\00:23:47.86 inspiration of God: New Testament and Old Testament. 00:23:47.89\00:23:51.36 However, the inspiration came from God, 00:23:51.39\00:23:54.66 but God didn't write it. 00:23:54.70\00:23:56.26 Look at 2 Peter 1:20, 21. 00:23:56.30\00:23:59.33 The inspiration came from God, but God did not write it. 00:23:59.37\00:24:03.47 The apostle says: 00:24:03.51\00:24:06.17 Let me pause a second before that goes away. 00:24:15.08\00:24:16.95 In other words, men did not sit down and decide what to write. 00:24:16.99\00:24:21.16 That's what people say: How can I trust that? Men wrote that. 00:24:21.19\00:24:25.29 They didn't decide what to write. 00:24:25.33\00:24:26.66 Let's go on. Verse 21. 00:24:26.70\00:24:29.13 What kind of men? 00:24:35.70\00:24:37.04 The Holy Spirit watched and guided these scribes, 00:24:42.44\00:24:46.88 guided these men whose lives were holy. 00:24:46.92\00:24:50.25 As a matter of fact, God's word is so holy that scribes, 00:24:50.29\00:24:54.52 they talk about how the word of God was inscribed. 00:24:54.56\00:24:57.16 And when they would get to the name, when they would get to the 00:24:57.23\00:25:00.50 name in the Bible that described one of the names of God, 00:25:00.53\00:25:05.03 they would put down one quill and pick up the other quill 00:25:05.07\00:25:09.57 just to write God's name. 00:25:09.60\00:25:11.51 And when they wrote God's name they would put that quill down 00:25:11.54\00:25:15.78 and continue writing the rest with another quill. 00:25:15.81\00:25:18.35 And if they messed up on the writing of God's name, 00:25:18.38\00:25:20.88 they didn't erase. 00:25:20.92\00:25:22.25 They took the entire document and threw it away, 00:25:22.28\00:25:24.75 and started all over fresh. 00:25:24.79\00:25:26.96 The word of God was sustained. 00:25:26.99\00:25:29.06 It's not a book of errors, as some suggest. 00:25:29.09\00:25:31.29 Some people read the word of God to find its errors. 00:25:31.33\00:25:34.06 You know what? You can find a mistake in anything. 00:25:34.10\00:25:36.77 Let me tell you how you can do that. 00:25:36.83\00:25:39.07 Because the Bible says when your eyes are not spiritual, 00:25:39.13\00:25:41.67 you cannot discern spiritual things. 00:25:41.70\00:25:43.71 I could look at a science book and I find a lot of errors, 00:25:43.74\00:25:47.31 because I'm not a scientist. 00:25:47.34\00:25:49.48 But if you're looking for inspiration, and you pray for 00:25:49.51\00:25:52.95 God to open your eyes, that's why whenever you study the Bible 00:25:52.98\00:25:56.38 don't open the Bible like you open your math book. 00:25:56.42\00:25:59.75 If God inspired it, God can enlighten it. 00:25:59.79\00:26:03.22 The patriarch David said, The entrance of 00:26:03.29\00:26:06.70 Your word gives light. 00:26:06.73\00:26:08.06 We have somebody that's now in one of my classes at my church 00:26:08.10\00:26:12.17 there in Thompsonville, and she recently joined our fellowship. 00:26:12.20\00:26:16.47 And she's in my class. 00:26:16.50\00:26:18.07 And periodically I would see her, she'd take her pencil out, 00:26:18.11\00:26:22.31 and she'd begin to erase. 00:26:22.34\00:26:24.28 And I'd say, Ah, Chris, what are you erasing? 00:26:24.31\00:26:26.95 And she'd say, Well, Pastor, I mean, I was raised to believe 00:26:27.02\00:26:31.95 this, but as I study the Bible, I'm beginning to see that it 00:26:31.99\00:26:36.89 didn't mean what I was taught to believe, 00:26:36.93\00:26:38.66 but it means what God's word says. 00:26:38.69\00:26:41.56 So she says, I'm erasing my definition 00:26:41.60\00:26:44.67 and putting in God's definition. Amen! 00:26:44.70\00:26:47.74 Whenever you approach the word of God opinionated, 00:26:47.77\00:26:51.51 you will always come up with error, and difficulty. 00:26:51.54\00:26:55.21 But when you search the Scriptures under the inspiration 00:26:55.24\00:26:58.28 of the Spirit of God, the lines make sense. 00:26:58.31\00:27:01.25 The entrance of God's word brings light. 00:27:01.28\00:27:04.05 The entire Bible was written by men. 00:27:04.09\00:27:06.59 Now let me also add another component. 00:27:06.62\00:27:09.06 When you read the phrase in the Bible, God said, 00:27:09.09\00:27:14.00 or God spoke, the words that follow that are direct 00:27:14.03\00:27:18.93 quotations from God. 00:27:18.97\00:27:20.67 Now let me say that again. 00:27:20.70\00:27:22.24 I don't think you caught that. 00:27:22.27\00:27:23.74 When you read in the Bible, God said, or God spoke, what's said 00:27:23.77\00:27:33.01 right after that is a direct quote from God. 00:27:33.05\00:27:36.95 I mean God said it. 00:27:36.99\00:27:38.69 Jeremiah didn't say it; he wrote it. 00:27:38.75\00:27:41.66 Paul didn't say it; he wrote it. 00:27:41.69\00:27:44.23 John didn't say it; he wrote it. 00:27:44.26\00:27:46.73 In other words God said, Paul listen to this, 00:27:46.76\00:27:51.57 and write exactly what I tell you. 00:27:51.60\00:27:54.20 For example, Genesis 1:3. 00:27:54.24\00:27:57.01 Here's an example. The Bible says: 00:27:57.04\00:28:00.01 Let's read this together. 00:28:01.18\00:28:02.51 Now only God can bring light out of darkness. 00:28:05.81\00:28:09.28 So when God speaks things happen. 00:28:09.32\00:28:12.35 When God speaks things happen. 00:28:12.42\00:28:15.49 Only God's word has life in it. 00:28:15.52\00:28:18.53 So another writer said the word of God is God breathed. 00:28:18.56\00:28:22.53 So when God spoke, when God said, Let there be light. 00:28:22.56\00:28:26.50 Light listened to God, and light showed up. 00:28:26.53\00:28:29.74 Amen somebody. Amen! 00:28:29.77\00:28:31.41 God turned the light on by saying, Lights on! 00:28:31.44\00:28:35.21 God said it, it happened. 00:28:40.45\00:28:42.38 Another example: Exodus 20:1. Look at this. 00:28:42.42\00:28:45.59 The Bible says: 00:28:48.26\00:28:50.26 How many? 00:28:51.99\00:28:53.33 Now if you know anything about Exodus 20, Pastor, it is this: 00:28:56.87\00:29:01.07 what follows after that are the ten commandments of God, 00:29:01.10\00:29:06.37 not the ten suggestions, not ten multiple choice questions. 00:29:06.41\00:29:12.28 That's why when I read that it makes my skin crawl to think 00:29:12.31\00:29:18.15 that men that even put themselves in the category of 00:29:18.19\00:29:21.42 preachers and teachers would dare to say that the words that 00:29:21.46\00:29:25.99 God spoke are no longer relevant while God is still alive. 00:29:26.03\00:29:30.50 Doesn't make sense. 00:29:32.17\00:29:33.50 I remember saying to somebody, God said, but the preacher said. 00:29:33.54\00:29:39.57 So now who do you believe? God or the preacher? 00:29:39.61\00:29:43.61 And a lot of people say, Well, my pastor... 00:29:43.65\00:29:45.31 I know what the Bible says, but my pastor says... 00:29:45.35\00:29:47.72 I said, Well, when you and your pastor stand before God, 00:29:47.75\00:29:50.75 let's figure out who's going to be right then. 00:29:50.79\00:29:52.72 Come on somebody! If God says it, don't let any earthly man or 00:29:52.75\00:29:57.86 prelate, or no matter how intelligent they may be, 00:29:57.89\00:30:01.60 don't allow anybody earthly to edit what God has said. 00:30:01.63\00:30:05.30 Don't put a question mark where God put a period. 00:30:05.33\00:30:07.90 Don't put a question mark where God put an exclamation point. 00:30:07.94\00:30:11.57 When He exclaims it, it's clear. What do you say? Amen! 00:30:11.64\00:30:15.24 Also the other component that repeatedly confirms 00:30:17.38\00:30:20.32 the authenticity of the Bible is prophecy. 00:30:20.35\00:30:23.59 It is what? prophecy. 00:30:23.62\00:30:25.25 Prophecy is history concealed, and history 00:30:25.29\00:30:28.92 is prophecy revealed. 00:30:28.96\00:30:30.43 Prophecy is history concealed. 00:30:30.46\00:30:33.83 God says it, and He holds off and reveals it when history 00:30:33.86\00:30:39.23 begins to unfold before us. 00:30:39.27\00:30:41.40 History now takes us back and says, Do you remember 00:30:41.44\00:30:44.57 what I said before? 00:30:44.61\00:30:45.94 Look at Isaiah 46:9, 10. 00:30:45.97\00:30:48.64 Prophecy is the only thing in the Bible that outlines 00:30:48.68\00:30:54.82 the march of human history. 00:30:54.85\00:30:56.28 When I was in high school I loved history. 00:30:56.32\00:31:01.62 I loved world history. 00:31:02.96\00:31:04.33 And I remember growing up, and I found in my father's, 00:31:04.36\00:31:09.26 among his old, old books. 00:31:09.30\00:31:11.60 He had a very old history book, so old that the pages would 00:31:11.63\00:31:16.27 crumble if handled indelicately. 00:31:16.30\00:31:18.47 And I opened that book and began to slowly turn the pages. 00:31:18.51\00:31:22.84 You know when something's old you kind of turn 00:31:22.88\00:31:24.88 the page like this. 00:31:24.91\00:31:26.25 And I began to turn those pages, and began to read. 00:31:26.28\00:31:29.45 And what amazed me is as I began to become reacquainted 00:31:29.48\00:31:34.52 with the Bible, and began to dive into Bible prophecy, 00:31:34.56\00:31:37.59 I began to understand. 00:31:37.63\00:31:38.96 Wait a minute, I read this in the Bible in the book of Daniel, 00:31:38.99\00:31:41.93 in the book of Revelation, and now I read this history book, 00:31:41.96\00:31:45.10 and it confirms what the prophet talked about thousands of years 00:31:45.13\00:31:49.64 before, showing that prophecy is history concealed, 00:31:49.67\00:31:54.08 and history is prophecy revealed. 00:31:54.11\00:31:56.61 And notice Isaiah 46:9, 10. 00:31:56.64\00:31:58.58 God says this about His word. 00:31:58.61\00:32:00.48 And here's the reason why we can trust prophecy. He says: 00:32:00.52\00:32:04.72 That's why, as I said a few days ago, I don't, I don't hang my 00:32:30.58\00:32:36.48 hope on the words of politicians. 00:32:36.55\00:32:38.35 I hang my hope on the words of God. Amen! 00:32:38.39\00:32:40.92 Because they make all kinds of promises 00:32:40.96\00:32:43.46 that they don't fulfill. 00:32:43.49\00:32:44.83 But the Bible says every word, and every 00:32:44.86\00:32:47.63 promise of God is sure. 00:32:47.66\00:32:49.46 You can trust God's word. 00:32:49.50\00:32:51.20 If He says it... Matter of fact, in the Bible the Lord says, 00:32:51.23\00:32:55.30 He honors His word above His name. 00:32:55.34\00:32:58.44 If I said it, you can take that to the bank. 00:32:58.47\00:33:01.78 Amen somebody! Amen! 00:33:01.84\00:33:03.24 He says, If you can fight it, that's why we call it promises. 00:33:03.28\00:33:06.01 Some people pray and say, Lord, You remember what You said? 00:33:06.05\00:33:08.72 God didn't forget, but it's good to just say, Remember Lord? 00:33:10.09\00:33:13.56 I remember when Moses prayed about the wayward 00:33:13.59\00:33:17.39 children of Israel. 00:33:17.43\00:33:18.76 Moses said, Remember what You said, Lord? 00:33:18.79\00:33:20.80 The Lord got so upset with the Israelites, He says, 00:33:20.83\00:33:22.96 You know what? I want to wipe them out in the wilderness. 00:33:23.00\00:33:25.43 And Moses said, Wait a minute Lord, remember what You said? 00:33:25.47\00:33:27.87 That they are Your special people? 00:33:27.90\00:33:30.21 That You love them. 00:33:30.27\00:33:31.61 That You brought them out of Egypt because You love them? 00:33:31.64\00:33:33.94 God said, Alright, alright, I won't do it. 00:33:33.98\00:33:35.31 Now it's not that Moses was in charge of 00:33:35.91\00:33:40.42 reminding God of anything. 00:33:40.45\00:33:41.92 But Moses, in that example, was a mediator like Jesus, 00:33:44.22\00:33:48.92 pleading in behalf of the people that He loved. 00:33:48.99\00:33:53.33 He said, If you do anything, if you do anything, take my name 00:33:53.36\00:33:56.67 out of the book, but leave those there. 00:33:56.70\00:33:58.50 That's what Jesus does. 00:33:58.53\00:34:01.04 He'd rather put His life at risk than have our lives to be lost. 00:34:01.07\00:34:07.11 What a God we serve. Amen somebody. Amen! 00:34:07.14\00:34:09.71 Archeology also has something to contribute about the 00:34:09.74\00:34:12.41 authenticity of the Bible. 00:34:12.45\00:34:13.78 Follow me very carefully tonight. 00:34:13.82\00:34:15.15 This is kind of esoteric and intellectual, 00:34:15.18\00:34:16.69 but listen to me as a New Yorker. 00:34:16.72\00:34:18.49 I'll speak as a person from London, slowly, 00:34:18.52\00:34:20.79 but listen carefully. 00:34:20.82\00:34:22.49 Evidences of archeological finds that confirm the 00:34:23.53\00:34:27.70 authenticity of the Bible. 00:34:27.76\00:34:29.40 First on the list is the Moabite Stone. 00:34:29.43\00:34:32.97 Say that together, the Moabite Stone. 00:34:33.00\00:34:36.50 Connect it to the Moabites. 00:34:36.54\00:34:39.37 This stone was discovered in 1868 at Dibon, Jordan, 00:34:39.41\00:34:44.25 confirming the Moabite attack on Israel, and the written 00:34:44.28\00:34:49.08 record of 2 Kings 1:3. 00:34:49.12\00:34:52.05 Up until that particular point Bible scholars had some 00:34:52.09\00:34:56.59 questions about the content of the Bible. 00:34:56.62\00:34:58.99 But what God did is God allowed man to find the documents, 00:34:59.06\00:35:03.57 whether on stone, or on parchment, or in tubes of clay. 00:35:03.60\00:35:10.04 God allowed men to periodically, first trust His word by faith, 00:35:10.11\00:35:14.48 and then God turned that faith into sight by allowing these 00:35:14.51\00:35:18.85 archeological finds to confirm His word. Amen? Amen! 00:35:18.88\00:35:23.59 Because those are something called the Lachish Letters 00:35:23.62\00:35:25.95 discovered in 1932 to 1938, 24 miles archeologists say, 00:35:25.99\00:35:31.23 from a place called Beersheba. 00:35:31.26\00:35:32.59 It describes the attack of Nebuchadnezzar on Jerusalem 00:35:32.66\00:35:35.90 that took place in 586 B.C. 00:35:35.96\00:35:38.97 This was discovered between 1932 and 1938. 00:35:39.00\00:35:43.57 That is more than almost 2,000 years earlier. 00:35:43.61\00:35:48.91 This event occurred almost 2,000 years later, 00:35:48.94\00:35:54.22 the evidence of this event was unfolded. 00:35:54.25\00:35:57.25 So what happened to the people that read the Bible about this 00:35:57.29\00:36:01.22 event before this archeological find? 00:36:01.29\00:36:04.13 They trusted God's word by faith. 00:36:04.16\00:36:06.96 The Bible says, Without faith it is impossible to please Him. 00:36:07.00\00:36:11.13 You cannot confirm everything in God's word. 00:36:11.17\00:36:13.70 Somewhere along the way you've got to believe, 00:36:13.74\00:36:16.24 If He's God, I can trust Him. Amen! 00:36:16.27\00:36:20.74 If God is love, and He loved me so much He gave 00:36:21.88\00:36:25.18 His only Son to save me; if He is God, I can trust Him. 00:36:25.21\00:36:29.22 I don't know anybody that I can trust 100%. 00:36:29.25\00:36:32.75 Now I can trust my wife. 00:36:32.79\00:36:35.12 Amen lights. Everybody else has to earn it. 00:36:41.50\00:36:45.77 We can have God's trust always. 00:36:45.80\00:36:50.47 In every circumstance, in every situation God can be trusted. 00:36:50.51\00:36:55.11 Let me move on. Also on the archeological find 00:36:55.14\00:36:58.31 is the Cyrus Cylinders. 00:36:58.35\00:37:00.52 Say that, the what? Cyrus Cylinder containing the records 00:37:00.58\00:37:04.09 of the Persian king Cyrus, and his overthrow of Babylon, 00:37:04.12\00:37:07.62 and the deliverance of the children of Israel. 00:37:07.66\00:37:10.49 You'll find it in Daniel, in the book of Daniel. 00:37:10.53\00:37:14.63 Babylon in prophecy was proceeded by Medo Persia, 00:37:14.66\00:37:18.73 proceeded by Greece, proceeded by Rome. 00:37:18.77\00:37:23.34 And the Bible predicted prophetically that the last 00:37:23.37\00:37:26.57 reigning kingdom on earth would be the Roman Empire. 00:37:26.61\00:37:29.78 Now let me ask you a question. 00:37:29.81\00:37:31.18 What power on earth has more influence with political, 00:37:33.01\00:37:37.19 and religious leaders on earth other than the Vatican in Rome? 00:37:37.22\00:37:41.52 Predicted thousands of years ago. 00:37:41.56\00:37:44.96 God said that's going to be the last kingdom. 00:37:44.99\00:37:47.73 Rome is going to rule the earth politically and religiously. 00:37:47.76\00:37:52.03 God's word has been confirmed. 00:37:52.07\00:37:53.74 Can you say Amen? Amen! 00:37:53.77\00:37:55.44 Also the Rosetta Stone, discovered in 1799 in Egypt 00:37:55.47\00:38:00.01 by Napoleon's scientists, written in three languages: 00:38:00.04\00:38:03.35 hieroglyphics, demotic's, and Greek. 00:38:03.38\00:38:05.68 When they unlock the understanding of the ancient 00:38:05.71\00:38:08.85 languages of hieroglyphics, demotic's, and Greek, 00:38:08.88\00:38:11.85 it began to confirm the authenticity of the Bible. 00:38:11.89\00:38:15.16 Because they looked at these ancient languages, 00:38:15.19\00:38:17.53 and the translators were now able to get the keys and begin 00:38:17.56\00:38:21.93 to see that the word of God was clear, and they began to sharpen 00:38:21.96\00:38:26.13 and tighten the translations. 00:38:26.17\00:38:28.00 That's why you have, and let me make it very clear, 00:38:28.04\00:38:30.17 that's why you have the King James Version 00:38:30.21\00:38:32.94 and the New King James Version. 00:38:32.97\00:38:35.11 Some people say, Well, if the King James Version was good 00:38:35.14\00:38:37.85 enough for the apostles, it's good enough for me. 00:38:37.88\00:38:39.58 You'll get that tomorrow. 00:38:39.61\00:38:41.65 The King James Version was simply financed by king James, 00:38:43.25\00:38:47.36 not written by king James. 00:38:47.39\00:38:49.26 Some people think, Well, king James was a corrupt man. 00:38:49.29\00:38:52.49 Yes, he was, but he had money. 00:38:52.53\00:38:53.86 He financed the translation. 00:38:53.90\00:38:56.23 Thank God he didn't write it. 00:38:56.26\00:38:58.20 But the New King James version came along and tightened up 00:38:59.70\00:39:02.50 some for the understanding of the words in Hebrew, Aramaic 00:39:02.54\00:39:07.14 in the book of Daniel, and also Greek in the New Testament. 00:39:07.18\00:39:09.68 For example, you find in Genesis when Satan said to Eve, 00:39:09.71\00:39:14.35 You shall be as god's, plural, small g, knowing good and evil. 00:39:14.38\00:39:20.82 But in the original translation the word there for god's that 00:39:21.16\00:39:24.56 was in the King James is Elohim in the Hebrew, which is not a 00:39:24.59\00:39:28.56 little god, but the supreme God. 00:39:28.60\00:39:30.53 So in the New King James Version they don't use the small god 00:39:30.57\00:39:35.00 plural, but they use capital God singular, because Israel knew 00:39:35.04\00:39:40.08 The Lord our God He is One God. 00:39:40.11\00:39:42.51 There is no God like Him. 00:39:42.54\00:39:44.45 Amen somebody. Amen! 00:39:44.48\00:39:45.81 So when you look at the translations the reason why 00:39:45.85\00:39:47.35 there is the New King James Version; he is simply tightening 00:39:47.38\00:39:50.85 up the translation, but not changing the context. 00:39:50.89\00:39:54.06 The meaning is the same. 00:39:54.09\00:39:55.49 Then you have also the Dead Sea Scrolls, discovered in 1948. 00:39:55.52\00:40:01.60 But get this, they date back to 150 to 170 B.C., 00:40:01.63\00:40:07.50 and they contain almost all of the Old Testament 00:40:07.54\00:40:10.74 except the book of Esther. 00:40:10.77\00:40:12.11 Almost all the Old Testament except the book of Esther. 00:40:13.17\00:40:16.54 Theologians became excited when they found the Dead Sea Scrolls. 00:40:16.58\00:40:22.08 It was the find that shook the theological world. 00:40:22.12\00:40:26.15 Because all of a sudden this book that was doubted by 00:40:26.19\00:40:28.79 atheists and agnostics, and people said this book is not 00:40:28.82\00:40:32.06 a book other than just something devised by human minds. 00:40:32.09\00:40:35.50 When they found the Dead Sea Scrolls in 1948, people began to 00:40:35.53\00:40:39.93 be excited, and for the first time there was a revival. 00:40:39.97\00:40:43.14 People began to treasure their Bibles 00:40:43.17\00:40:45.61 as it is the authoritative word of God. Amen! 00:40:45.64\00:40:49.84 But three very quick facts about the authenticity of the Bible: 00:40:49.88\00:40:53.01 one is our dating system. 00:40:54.25\00:40:55.92 This is the universally undeniable fact: 00:40:58.95\00:41:01.99 our dating system, B.C. versus A.D. 00:41:02.02\00:41:06.76 Today is September. 00:41:06.80\00:41:09.30 I don't want to give the date. 00:41:09.33\00:41:10.67 But what year is it somebody tell me. 00:41:10.70\00:41:12.03 2000 what? 16, 2016 A.D., Latin for anno domini. 00:41:13.90\00:41:22.98 meaning in the year of our Lord. 00:41:23.01\00:41:26.48 B.C. is before Christ, A.D. is anno domini, in the year of our 00:41:26.51\00:41:33.09 Lord, meaning A.D. couldn't be until Jesus came. 00:41:33.12\00:41:41.26 There could be no A.D. without Jesus. 00:41:43.23\00:41:45.40 So while people may think of him as a prophet or a good man, 00:41:46.84\00:41:49.97 or a good teacher, and for the fact of the matter they cannot 00:41:50.01\00:41:53.81 find where He's buried, because He's not dead, He's alive. Amen! 00:41:53.84\00:41:57.51 There could not be a B.C. without a J.C. 00:41:58.81\00:42:02.35 Come on, help me out. 00:42:02.38\00:42:03.92 Without Jesus Christ there could be no A.D. or B.C. 00:42:03.95\00:42:07.16 He is the dividing line between the past and the present. 00:42:07.19\00:42:10.43 That's why He says, I am the alpha and the omega, 00:42:10.46\00:42:13.09 the beginning and the end, the first and the last. 00:42:13.13\00:42:16.26 He is the dividing line in human history between hope lost, 00:42:16.30\00:42:19.20 and hope regained. 00:42:19.23\00:42:20.64 He is the dividing line between I am eternally lost, 00:42:20.67\00:42:23.57 and I can be eternally saved. 00:42:23.61\00:42:25.21 He is the dividing line. 00:42:25.24\00:42:26.81 Somebody ought to say Amen. Amen! 00:42:26.84\00:42:28.54 I don't need to preach, I'm just teaching tonight, by the way. 00:42:28.58\00:42:31.18 The second fact of three about the authenticity of God's word 00:42:31.21\00:42:34.88 is the seven day week. 00:42:34.92\00:42:36.25 Follow me very carefully. This is huge! 00:42:36.28\00:42:39.02 When you argue with the Bible you find yourself in a blender. 00:42:40.09\00:42:43.43 But don't press the button. 00:42:43.46\00:42:45.39 The day can be astronomatically confirmed, the twenty-four hour 00:42:47.26\00:42:53.30 day, simply defined by the earth's rotation 00:42:53.34\00:42:56.10 around its own axis. 00:42:56.14\00:42:57.47 It takes approximately twenty-four hours, 00:42:57.51\00:43:00.11 specifically twenty-three hours and fifty-six minutes, 00:43:00.14\00:43:02.68 which is why we need a leap year. 00:43:02.71\00:43:04.05 It can be confirmed astronomically. 00:43:05.48\00:43:07.35 It is a fact. It cannot be denied. 00:43:07.38\00:43:11.85 Twenty-four hours from now I'll be standing here. 00:43:11.89\00:43:15.52 Come and look for me. 00:43:15.56\00:43:16.89 I will be here. Amen somebody. 00:43:16.93\00:43:18.39 If God gives me life, by His grace I'll be here. 00:43:18.43\00:43:21.30 That's a fact. We have sunup and sundown. 00:43:21.33\00:43:23.97 The news reporters, they can... 00:43:24.00\00:43:26.60 This is amazing. Astronomers, or as they would say, 00:43:26.63\00:43:30.44 meteorologists, can date back, turn the clock back, 00:43:30.47\00:43:34.74 and tell you exactly what time it was 25 years ago, 00:43:34.78\00:43:38.75 50 years ago, 200 years ago. 00:43:38.78\00:43:40.95 They can date, because these things are like a 00:43:40.98\00:43:43.25 cadence; they continue. 00:43:43.28\00:43:44.62 The sun goes up, the sun comes down. 00:43:44.65\00:43:46.32 During Bible times that's how they knew what time it was; 00:43:46.35\00:43:49.96 from sunrise to sunrise. 00:43:49.99\00:43:52.53 They called it sunset. 00:43:52.56\00:43:54.06 And, by the way, twelve o'clock at night is not 00:43:54.10\00:43:56.56 the beginning of a new day. 00:43:56.60\00:43:57.93 That's called what? midnight, which means the day 00:43:57.97\00:44:01.17 began a long time ago. 00:44:01.20\00:44:02.54 Before you had a watch, when the sun set the day was over. 00:44:02.57\00:44:06.07 Ask a farmer. They go to bed when the sun goes away. 00:44:06.11\00:44:08.98 They wake up before the sun comes up. 00:44:09.01\00:44:11.78 The day ends when the sun goes down. 00:44:11.81\00:44:15.48 As Christians we say, Happy New Years when 00:44:15.52\00:44:18.19 the sun disappears. 00:44:18.22\00:44:19.55 But the world says it at midnight. 00:44:19.59\00:44:21.22 Nothing wrong with that, but you ought to know it's called 00:44:21.26\00:44:23.12 midnight, because that's the middle of the night. 00:44:23.16\00:44:26.09 Noon is called midday. 00:44:26.13\00:44:28.66 The day does not begin at noon. 00:44:28.70\00:44:31.00 But there's something else that can also be 00:44:31.03\00:44:32.50 astronomically confirmed; the lunar cycle, defined by the 00:44:32.53\00:44:36.64 moon's orbit around the earth. 00:44:36.67\00:44:38.34 That's where we get the four conditions of the moon: 00:44:38.37\00:44:40.84 the quarter moon, the half moon, the three-quarter moon, 00:44:40.88\00:44:45.68 the full moon. It takes approximately twenty-nine 00:44:45.71\00:44:49.28 to thirty days for the moon to complete its 00:44:49.32\00:44:51.79 rotation around the earth. 00:44:51.82\00:44:53.46 It's called the lunar cycle. It is confirmed. 00:44:53.49\00:44:57.26 It's full moon tonight. 00:44:57.29\00:44:58.63 Where is the moon? 00:44:58.66\00:45:00.00 It's about to come back to quarter, then half, 00:45:00.03\00:45:03.50 then three-quarter, and that is undeniable. 00:45:03.53\00:45:06.03 That's why we have the month. 00:45:06.07\00:45:08.24 That is confirmed by the heavens. 00:45:08.27\00:45:10.24 God put that into rotation. 00:45:10.27\00:45:12.17 Then also the year. 00:45:12.21\00:45:13.71 The year has four seasons. 00:45:14.81\00:45:16.58 Why? because it is defined by the earth's orbit around 00:45:16.61\00:45:20.38 the sun, which takes approximately 365 days. 00:45:20.42\00:45:25.25 And every four years we get a leap year to fit in that 00:45:25.29\00:45:28.42 inaccuracy of human calculation. 00:45:28.46\00:45:30.89 But I want to say this. 00:45:30.93\00:45:32.26 Humans may not be as accurate as God. 00:45:32.29\00:45:34.53 Can I resay that? Humans will never be as accurate as God. 00:45:34.56\00:45:39.00 So we need to add a leap year to catch up with God. 00:45:39.03\00:45:42.54 365 days, so we have astronomical fact for the day, 00:45:42.57\00:45:47.31 the month, the year. 00:45:47.34\00:45:48.68 And here's how the Bible confirms that. 00:45:48.71\00:45:50.88 Look at Genesis 1:14. 00:45:50.91\00:45:52.61 The accuracy of our time keeping system was set up by God. 00:45:52.65\00:45:56.75 God set up the accuracy of our time system. 00:46:15.84\00:46:19.41 You see, God is not discovering what we created, 00:46:19.44\00:46:22.68 we're discovering what God created. 00:46:22.71\00:46:24.41 All these digital devices aren't nothing for God. 00:46:24.45\00:46:29.05 I can tell you, God is digital, and He's analog. 00:46:29.08\00:46:31.99 Come on somebody. Amen! 00:46:32.02\00:46:33.36 He's metric as well as whatever we have in the 00:46:33.39\00:46:35.69 United States; imperial. 00:46:35.72\00:46:38.39 We are not informing God about anything. 00:46:39.83\00:46:42.16 We are discovering what God always knew existed. 00:46:42.20\00:46:46.07 Now let me blow your mind. 00:46:46.10\00:46:49.44 Are you ready? Hold onto your mind. 00:46:49.47\00:46:51.54 We have astronomical proof for the day, for the month, 00:46:51.57\00:46:56.01 and for the year, but there is no astronomical authentication 00:46:56.04\00:47:00.35 for the seven day week except in the Bible. Amen! 00:47:00.38\00:47:04.75 Get rid of the Bible, you lose the seven day week. 00:47:04.79\00:47:07.69 Deny the existence of God, then get rid 00:47:07.72\00:47:10.43 of the seven day week. 00:47:10.46\00:47:11.79 You don't have a week, because you can't find the week 00:47:11.83\00:47:13.66 anywhere but the Bible. 00:47:13.70\00:47:15.03 So deny the very book that gives the week, 00:47:16.70\00:47:18.90 the seven day week its authenticity. 00:47:18.93\00:47:21.27 Are you ready? Here's the week. 00:47:21.30\00:47:23.51 Genesis 1:5. It's not on the screen. 00:47:23.54\00:47:25.61 Genesis 1:5. The first day, the Bible gives it: first day, 00:47:25.64\00:47:28.94 second day, third day, fourth day, fifth day, 00:47:28.98\00:47:30.71 sixth day, and seventh day. 00:47:30.75\00:47:32.21 The Bible says, On the first day God separated 00:47:32.25\00:47:35.82 the light from the darkness. 00:47:35.85\00:47:37.19 The second day He created the firmament. 00:47:37.22\00:47:38.95 There was a time when there was a canopy that surrounded 00:47:38.99\00:47:41.42 the earth like a filter. 00:47:41.46\00:47:43.06 It did not rain for a long time. 00:47:43.09\00:47:44.69 That's why when the flood was predicted men thought that 00:47:44.73\00:47:47.63 Noah was out of his mind. 00:47:47.66\00:47:49.00 It's going to rain? It never rained! 00:47:49.03\00:47:50.37 Plants were watered by a mist that came from the ground, 00:47:50.40\00:47:53.34 and a perfect temperature about 72 degrees all year long. 00:47:53.37\00:47:57.77 How would you like London to be 72 degrees all year long? 00:47:57.81\00:48:02.18 Not sticky, hot, and humid, but the way God 00:48:02.21\00:48:04.28 always intended it to be. 00:48:04.31\00:48:05.65 That was the firmament. 00:48:05.68\00:48:07.35 The third day God created the grass, 00:48:07.38\00:48:09.68 the plants, the fruit trees. 00:48:09.72\00:48:11.05 The fourth day the sun, the moon, the stars, 00:48:11.09\00:48:13.56 that govern the seasons. 00:48:13.59\00:48:15.19 The fifth day God created all sea creatures, and all birds. 00:48:15.22\00:48:18.89 And the sixth day God created land creatures, invertebrates, 00:48:18.93\00:48:24.93 which means including insects, and non-insects; all the creepy 00:48:24.97\00:48:28.37 stuff; the grasshoppers. 00:48:28.40\00:48:29.74 They were all in that same category. 00:48:29.77\00:48:31.11 And God also created humanity on the sixth day. 00:48:31.14\00:48:34.54 Now for the fact that all these things exist; they didn't get 00:48:34.58\00:48:38.51 here by coincidence. 00:48:38.55\00:48:39.88 Come on somebody; help me out. Amen! 00:48:39.91\00:48:41.68 And how was it that monkeys that look like monkeys 4,000 00:48:41.72\00:48:46.42 years ago, still look like monkeys? 00:48:46.45\00:48:48.26 Aren't no evolutionary process! 00:48:48.29\00:48:51.06 You can find a canary 3,000 years ago that looked 00:48:51.09\00:48:54.26 like a canary today. 00:48:54.30\00:48:55.63 You can find a bald eagle 5,000 years ago, 00:48:55.66\00:48:59.53 and a bald eagle today. 00:48:59.57\00:49:01.77 He's still bald; no change in his design. 00:49:01.80\00:49:05.97 I also discovered that you did not need every species of dogs 00:49:06.01\00:49:10.51 to produce all the species we have today. 00:49:10.55\00:49:12.78 For example, the Doberman pincher. 00:49:12.81\00:49:15.38 It's a combination of two kinds of species. 00:49:15.42\00:49:17.39 And you'll find in the DNA that God created in His creation, 00:49:17.42\00:49:22.86 is the ability to not only procreate, but to create in 00:49:22.89\00:49:27.33 animal kingdom species after their own kind. 00:49:27.36\00:49:31.90 In other words, a dog will never create a cat, and a cat could 00:49:31.93\00:49:35.87 never make a bird. 00:49:35.90\00:49:37.24 The theory of evolution is insane. 00:49:37.27\00:49:39.67 You've got to have faith to believe that. 00:49:39.71\00:49:43.68 You need more faith to believe evolution than you need to 00:49:43.71\00:49:46.75 simply accept God did it. 00:49:46.78\00:49:48.28 Well, what did God do on the seventh day? 00:49:48.32\00:49:51.12 Genesis 2:1-3. First, second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth. 00:49:51.15\00:49:56.19 What did God do on the seventh? 00:49:56.22\00:49:57.69 Here's how the week was completed. 00:49:57.73\00:49:59.36 Now, do you wonder why the Devil wants to get rid of the Bible? 00:50:26.39\00:50:30.53 If he can get rid of the Bible, He can get rid of the 00:50:30.56\00:50:33.93 seventh day, which is the only day that God blessed. 00:50:33.96\00:50:37.53 That's why what's happening in our world today... 00:50:37.57\00:50:39.67 And we'll talk about this in a couple of nights from now. 00:50:39.70\00:50:42.27 What's happening in our world today is substitutionary, 00:50:42.30\00:50:45.87 trying to find in what God never blessed, the blessing that 00:50:45.91\00:50:51.48 can only be found in what God did bless. 00:50:51.51\00:50:53.62 That's why when you read the Bible you'll understand why 00:50:53.65\00:50:58.65 Isaiah the prophet wrote these words. 00:50:58.69\00:51:00.52 Listen to what he said. 00:51:00.56\00:51:01.89 God is saying. 00:51:06.76\00:51:08.10 In other words, today whatever God says is going to happen 00:51:22.44\00:51:25.41 the way God said it. Amen! 00:51:25.45\00:51:27.25 The confirmation is clearly times and season, 00:51:27.28\00:51:30.72 the seven day week. 00:51:30.75\00:51:32.09 And the third most confirming thing of the accuracy, 00:51:32.12\00:51:35.06 and authenticity of God's word is prophecy. 00:51:35.09\00:51:37.46 We'll talk about prophecy in a few nights. 00:51:37.49\00:51:39.53 Give you some prophecies to show you how God's word can be 00:51:39.56\00:51:42.00 continually trusted. 00:51:42.03\00:51:43.37 We are where we are today not by human accident. 00:51:43.40\00:51:46.10 And, by the way, you'll also discover that in the Bible 00:51:46.13\00:51:48.37 American plays a role in the events of the last days. 00:51:48.40\00:51:51.34 Prophecy, accurate to the T, and, by the way, Daniel also 00:51:51.37\00:51:55.44 outlined a prophecy describing and predicting the exact moment 00:51:56.34\00:52:01.12 of the arrival of the ministry of Jesus, which today so many 00:52:01.15\00:52:06.15 have thwarted and distorted. 00:52:06.19\00:52:07.52 That prophecy was about the Christ. 00:52:09.02\00:52:10.83 But for those who did not understand that prophecy, 00:52:10.86\00:52:13.33 they have made it apply now to the antichrist. 00:52:13.36\00:52:15.56 And we have this ridiculous teaching today called, 00:52:15.60\00:52:18.13 The Rapture Theory, which points to the antichrist, when in fact 00:52:18.17\00:52:22.84 that prophecy was pointing to the Christ. 00:52:22.87\00:52:25.44 And finally we have atheism. 00:52:25.47\00:52:27.84 And atheism, in the broadest sense, is the absence of belief 00:52:27.88\00:52:31.71 in the existence of God. 00:52:31.75\00:52:33.42 In a less broader sense, atheism is the rejection of the belief 00:52:33.45\00:52:37.35 in any existence of God. 00:52:37.39\00:52:39.89 And even narrower than that, is the position that no God exists. 00:52:39.92\00:52:44.03 Now get this for a moment. 00:52:44.06\00:52:45.39 Atheism denies, and they say that the evidence for the 00:52:45.43\00:52:49.13 existence of God is missing. 00:52:49.16\00:52:51.10 The evidence for the existence of God was missing. 00:52:51.13\00:52:54.50 So when asked, What's missing? 00:52:54.54\00:52:57.31 They can't tell you what's missing. 00:52:57.34\00:52:59.44 They just said, The evidence is missing. 00:52:59.47\00:53:01.54 Now if something was missing out of your purse, would you say 00:53:01.58\00:53:04.31 that unless you knew it was missing? 00:53:04.35\00:53:05.68 Absolutely not! So to say it's missing, and you don't know 00:53:05.71\00:53:09.02 what's missing, is to say, No, what's missing is your logic. 00:53:09.05\00:53:12.59 There is no missing evidence. 00:53:12.62\00:53:14.62 All you've got to do is look around you. 00:53:14.66\00:53:17.06 The earth is the Lord's, and the fullness thereof. 00:53:17.09\00:53:20.70 I want to tell you some more, but I'll leave this 00:53:20.73\00:53:23.43 for tomorrow night. 00:53:23.47\00:53:24.80 I want to tell you friends, God can be trusted. 00:53:24.83\00:53:28.34 The other reasons for the existence of God is the 00:53:28.37\00:53:31.87 complexity of our planet, its design, our universe. 00:53:31.91\00:53:36.48 Scientists have said there is nothing else designed so 00:53:36.51\00:53:40.08 completely like the earth that its size is perfect. 00:53:40.12\00:53:43.72 Scientists say that if the earth were any smaller it could not 00:53:43.75\00:53:47.36 sustain life, like Mercury. 00:53:47.39\00:53:49.62 Any larger it could not sustain humanity, like Jupiter. 00:53:49.66\00:53:53.76 The nitrogen content would be much too great for human 00:53:53.80\00:53:57.17 life to be sustained. 00:53:57.20\00:53:58.53 And so tonight we find ourselves confronting the word of God. 00:53:58.57\00:54:02.17 The word of God is undeniable. 00:54:02.20\00:54:04.04 The word of God cannot be denied. 00:54:04.07\00:54:06.27 And so I end tonight with this Scripture that I want to take 00:54:06.31\00:54:08.51 you to down to 2 Timothy 4:2, 5. 00:54:08.54\00:54:10.85 Go down to the last Scripture for those of you 00:54:10.88\00:54:12.65 on the graphics tonight. 00:54:12.68\00:54:14.02 That's why our commission is preach the word. 00:54:14.05\00:54:17.02 What is our commission friends? 00:54:17.05\00:54:18.39 We have arrived. 00:54:30.27\00:54:31.60 They don't want to believe God's word. 00:54:36.37\00:54:37.87 So tonight let me end. 00:54:49.98\00:54:51.32 Let's talk about the most powerful weapon on earth. 00:54:51.35\00:54:53.86 It can outlast any slaughter, and transform 00:54:53.89\00:54:56.62 any life; God's word. 00:54:56.66\00:54:57.99 It can humble the exalted, and educate the simple, God's word. 00:54:58.03\00:55:01.56 It is a light in darkness, a pathway to the lost. 00:55:01.60\00:55:04.83 It can encourage the weak, and comfort the weary. 00:55:04.87\00:55:06.84 If you are hungry it will feed you. 00:55:06.87\00:55:08.77 If you are thirsty it will soothe you. 00:55:08.80\00:55:10.64 I speak of nothing other than the Holy Bible. 00:55:10.67\00:55:13.41 The book reveals the mind of God, the state of man, 00:55:13.44\00:55:15.61 the way of salvation, the doom of sinners, 00:55:15.64\00:55:17.45 the happiness of believers. 00:55:17.48\00:55:19.05 Its precepts are binding. 00:55:19.08\00:55:20.78 Its history is true. 00:55:20.82\00:55:22.18 And its decisions are immutable. 00:55:22.22\00:55:24.72 Read it to be wise. 00:55:24.75\00:55:26.19 Believe it to be saved. 00:55:26.22\00:55:27.56 And practice it to be holy. 00:55:27.59\00:55:29.02 It contains light to direct you, food to support you, 00:55:29.06\00:55:32.39 and comfort to cheer you. 00:55:32.43\00:55:33.83 It is the traveler's map, the Christian charter. 00:55:33.86\00:55:36.63 It can't lie, but it can detect one. Amen somebody! 00:55:36.67\00:55:39.83 It has no pulse, and yet it breathes and lives. 00:55:39.87\00:55:42.77 In it paradise is restored, heaven opened, 00:55:42.80\00:55:45.47 the gates of hell are closed. 00:55:45.51\00:55:46.84 Christ is the grand theme, our good it's design, 00:55:46.88\00:55:50.25 and the glory of God its end. 00:55:50.28\00:55:52.35 Read it slowly, frequently, and prayerfully. 00:55:52.38\00:55:55.05 It is a mine of wealth, a paradise of glory, 00:55:55.08\00:55:57.55 and a river of pleasure. 00:55:57.59\00:55:59.05 It will reward the greatest labor, and condemn all who 00:55:59.09\00:56:02.39 trifle with its sacred contents. 00:56:02.42\00:56:04.63 Paul turned the world upside down with it. 00:56:04.66\00:56:06.90 Elijah called down fire through it, 00:56:06.93\00:56:09.16 and God created the world by it. 00:56:09.20\00:56:11.37 What do you say? Amen! 00:56:11.40\00:56:12.73 It can't be stopped, prevented, denied, or destroyed. 00:56:12.77\00:56:15.37 It will outlive any novel, and outlast any show. 00:56:15.40\00:56:18.01 The word of God is divine, dynamic, 00:56:18.04\00:56:20.98 didactic, and delightful. 00:56:21.01\00:56:23.11 It is a conundrum to the proud, and a solution to the humble. 00:56:23.14\00:56:26.35 It can open and close your eyes at the same time. 00:56:26.38\00:56:29.18 It can confuse the scoffer, and enlighten the seeker. 00:56:29.22\00:56:32.35 The book, the book of books, the book of life, the book of God, 00:56:32.39\00:56:35.16 the Bible, the revelation of God to man. 00:56:35.19\00:56:37.19 But it comes with a warning, and here it is. 00:56:37.23\00:56:39.76 This book will keep you from sin, 00:56:39.79\00:56:41.80 or sin will keep you from this book. 00:56:41.83\00:56:43.77 Reading, confessing this book will terrify the Devil, 00:56:43.80\00:56:46.87 stupefy the rebellious, mystify the world, pacify the critic, 00:56:46.90\00:56:50.57 ratify the covenant, edify the church, 00:56:50.61\00:56:52.37 magnify the word, and glorify God. 00:56:52.41\00:56:54.64 And guess what? It is still the best selling book of all time. 00:56:54.68\00:56:57.58 What do you say? Amen! 00:56:57.61\00:56:58.95 So tonight, tonight we're going to ask God's word to speak. 00:56:58.98\00:57:02.18 God's word, the undeniable, undeniable, champion of truth. 00:57:02.22\00:57:09.19 Tonight we're going to sing that song together, Tim and I. 00:57:09.22\00:57:11.93 And if you know it, I want you to join with us tonight. 00:57:11.96\00:57:14.56 Word of God speak; pour down like rain. 00:57:14.60\00:57:17.43 God's word is a powerful book. 00:57:17.47\00:57:19.23 Let's sing this song together. 00:57:19.27\00:57:20.60 Word of God speak; Let it pour down like rain, 00:57:20.64\00:57:28.11 Washing my eyes to see Your majesty. 00:57:28.14\00:57:35.55 To be still and know That You're in this place. 00:57:35.58\00:57:42.12 Please let me stay and rest in Your holiness. 00:57:42.16\00:57:49.86 Word of God speak. 00:57:49.90\00:57:52.73 Would You pour down like rain? 00:57:52.77\00:57:56.50 Washing my eyes to see Your majesty. 00:57:56.54\00:58:04.11 To be still and know You're in this place. 00:58:04.15\00:58:10.59 Please let me stay and rest in Your holiness. 00:58:10.62\00:58:18.56 Word of God speak. 00:58:18.59\00:58:21.66
