Cory would you come on up? 00:17:26.61\00:17:28.68 what was the favorite thing that you learned at ASI this year? 00:17:28.71\00:17:32.38 It was that we got to... that when the kid... 00:17:32.41\00:17:36.48 when babies are dead... when they're dying... 00:17:36.52\00:17:40.56 we can help them again and then do 00:17:40.59\00:17:42.66 and make them back to life 00:17:42.69\00:17:44.69 it was cool what we learned about it. 00:17:44.73\00:17:46.33 So they learned about infant choking and infant CPR 00:17:46.36\00:17:50.20 and they did a really great job with that. 00:17:50.23\00:17:52.23 What was your 00:17:52.27\00:17:54.20 most interesting experience in ASI this year, this is Sophia. 00:17:54.24\00:17:59.11 I learnt how to splint an arm. 00:17:59.14\00:18:02.01 So she was generous enough 00:18:02.04\00:18:04.81 to wear a splint for us this evening 00:18:04.85\00:18:06.82 so that she could demonstrate 00:18:06.85\00:18:09.25 some of the stuff that we've been practicing. 00:18:09.28\00:18:11.15 You should have seen the ones yesterday when we were outside 00:18:11.19\00:18:14.82 we had cervical fractures with C-Collars 00:18:14.89\00:18:18.29 and some splinting that would impress 00:18:18.33\00:18:21.30 even the best paramedic or doctor. 00:18:21.33\00:18:24.23 Ross, what was one of the most important things 00:18:24.27\00:18:28.84 that you felt that we've been able to 00:18:28.90\00:18:30.24 teach our young people here? 00:18:30.27\00:18:31.71 Well, I think that it was really cool 00:18:31.74\00:18:34.78 that we were able to teach technical skills 00:18:34.81\00:18:36.24 like survival skills, safari skills, things like that, 00:18:36.31\00:18:39.45 but underlying all of those we were able to incorporate 00:18:39.48\00:18:41.85 Biblical values and principles, 00:18:41.88\00:18:44.69 core concepts that speak to what is important to us 00:18:44.72\00:18:48.59 as... as Christians, 00:18:48.62\00:18:50.13 that is... following Christ and reflecting Him in our lives, 00:18:50.19\00:18:53.26 probably the single, coolest principle 00:18:53.29\00:18:56.16 that we got to share was the idea that 00:18:56.20\00:18:59.03 we're here not just to survive, 00:18:59.07\00:19:00.54 to maintain our health in this world but to thrive, 00:19:00.57\00:19:04.04 to increase our health and give that to someone else, 00:19:04.07\00:19:07.51 Amen... so we've had a great experience 00:19:07.54\00:19:11.21 but specifically one quote that we've been learning 00:19:11.25\00:19:14.35 is one that most of you probably know 00:19:14.38\00:19:17.85 and it's in the book Education page 57 00:19:17.89\00:19:21.29 and we're going to actually quote that for you this evening. 00:19:21.32\00:19:24.53 "The greatest want of the world is the want of men, 00:19:24.56\00:19:30.80 men who will not be bought or sold, 00:19:30.83\00:19:33.94 men who in their inmost souls are true and honest, 00:19:33.97\00:19:38.37 men who do not fear to call sin by its right name, 00:19:38.41\00:19:42.81 men whose conscience is as true to duty 00:19:42.84\00:19:46.68 as the needle to the pole, 00:19:46.72\00:19:48.55 men who will stand for right though the heaven's fall" 00:19:48.58\00:19:53.19 and one of our skills has been 00:19:53.22\00:19:55.56 learning about how to use a compass 00:19:55.59\00:19:57.29 and a lot of you don't think of compasses 00:19:57.33\00:20:00.40 it's all GPSes now-a-days right? 00:20:00.43\00:20:02.50 but you find out in disasters 00:20:02.56\00:20:04.57 that things electronic don't always work 00:20:04.60\00:20:06.60 and you have to go back to the basics 00:20:06.63\00:20:08.54 and to survive in this world spiritually 00:20:08.60\00:20:11.24 and to thrive, we have to be... 00:20:11.27\00:20:12.97 back to the basics of using God's Word 00:20:13.04\00:20:15.41 and the most important thing is putting God's Word in our heart 00:20:15.44\00:20:18.61 that we have that compass that keep us through to duty 00:20:18.65\00:20:22.88 as the needle is to the pole. 00:20:22.92\00:20:27.22 Children to leave the stage 00:20:27.26\00:20:31.49 Audience clapping... 00:20:31.53\00:20:38.90 Last but definitely not least, we have our Youth Department 00:20:38.93\00:20:43.57 with Sean Nebblett from New Mexico 00:20:43.61\00:20:46.04 and Paul Dysinger from Tennessee 00:20:46.07\00:20:48.84 and they have volunteered their time 00:20:48.88\00:20:51.28 to come and spend with about 80 youth 00:20:51.31\00:20:53.65 and have been teaching them about survival as well 00:20:53.68\00:20:57.02 if you look to the front right, left quadrant or my right... 00:20:57.05\00:21:02.12 you see a section partialed off 00:21:02.19\00:21:05.29 because the youth would want to come and join you 00:21:05.33\00:21:08.06 tonight and tomorrow morning for the sermon, 00:21:08.10\00:21:11.27 they're going to be part of ASI one day soon right? 00:21:11.30\00:21:14.57 so Sean... what was your program, 00:21:14.60\00:21:18.17 what was your emphasis, what did you do this time? 00:21:18.21\00:21:21.04 Claire, our theme in the Youth Department was 00:21:21.08\00:21:23.85 "Ransomed to Rescue" 00:21:23.88\00:21:25.48 and it's built off of the idea that we are made strong by God 00:21:25.51\00:21:30.39 not just to be strong but to do something to save, 00:21:30.42\00:21:33.15 strong to be put to work for a purpose 00:21:33.19\00:21:36.39 and so, we have been exploring strength 00:21:36.42\00:21:39.46 over the last couple of days 00:21:39.49\00:21:40.96 from kind of a unique perspective 00:21:41.00\00:21:43.67 we've identified three principles 00:21:43.70\00:21:45.83 that when they work together... 00:21:45.87\00:21:47.94 form this upward spiral of experience, 00:21:47.97\00:21:53.38 upward spiral of spiritual strength, 00:21:53.41\00:21:56.11 those three principles are, 00:21:56.14\00:21:57.81 Excellence, Service and Restoration 00:21:57.85\00:22:01.42 and so we pursue excellence, 00:22:01.45\00:22:05.02 we've been pursuing excellence as a group of young people 00:22:05.05\00:22:07.22 for the purpose of being in power to serve 00:22:07.26\00:22:10.33 and then when we are empowered to serve, 00:22:10.36\00:22:13.36 we get to take part in this beautiful process of restoration 00:22:13.40\00:22:17.37 and when you add those two things together, 00:22:17.40\00:22:20.04 this excellence, service, restoration, 00:22:20.07\00:22:22.74 when we're restored, of course, excellence goes up, right? 00:22:22.77\00:22:26.47 And then service goes up and then restoration goes up 00:22:26.51\00:22:29.24 and... and away we go... 00:22:29.31\00:22:30.65 so, Paul, tell us about some of the specific ways 00:22:30.68\00:22:34.92 in which we have explored this concept, 00:22:34.95\00:22:36.79 the first concept which will be: Excellence 00:22:36.85\00:22:38.45 over the last couple of days. 00:22:38.49\00:22:39.82 So excellence... really... excellence is so important 00:22:39.85\00:22:42.59 and we explored it in various different ways, 00:22:42.62\00:22:45.29 one of them was that part of our day... each day 00:22:45.33\00:22:47.96 was devoted to mental excellence 00:22:48.03\00:22:49.76 through various methods of memorization 00:22:49.80\00:22:52.27 and the memorization of the Scriptures, 00:22:52.30\00:22:55.34 we also focused on social excellence 00:22:55.37\00:22:58.37 through team-building activities that were so much fun 00:22:58.41\00:23:01.34 to do with... to do with each other 00:23:01.41\00:23:03.24 inspiring us to greater cooperation with each other 00:23:03.28\00:23:06.38 and learning practical lessons of leadership skills. 00:23:06.41\00:23:09.48 And then, of course, we switched into service, 00:23:09.52\00:23:13.46 we spent much of Thursday exploring 00:23:13.49\00:23:17.16 how each young person can expand and... 00:23:17.19\00:23:20.46 and maximize their efficiency, their service in the world 00:23:20.50\00:23:25.33 by a number of exercises 00:23:25.37\00:23:26.97 one was a Personality kind of assessment, 00:23:27.00\00:23:29.37 another... Spiritual Gifts Assessment 00:23:29.40\00:23:31.71 so that each young person could have a better idea 00:23:31.77\00:23:34.34 of where they fit in the work of God 00:23:34.38\00:23:36.81 then we actually started an activity 00:23:36.85\00:23:39.25 which will obviously continue 00:23:39.28\00:23:40.88 of actually taking time to prayerfully consider 00:23:40.92\00:23:44.59 coming up with a motto as a young person 00:23:44.62\00:23:47.76 based upon our gifts, based upon our talents 00:23:47.79\00:23:50.93 more or less a tagline for living 00:23:50.96\00:23:53.50 something by which we can 00:23:53.53\00:23:54.86 define all of our choices going forth, 00:23:54.90\00:23:57.37 a very enriching experience. 00:23:57.40\00:23:58.83 And then today was an absolute blast, 00:23:58.87\00:24:01.50 I mean, you just heard the 00:24:01.54\00:24:02.87 Earliteens talking about what they did, 00:24:02.90\00:24:05.11 we all joined together with them 00:24:05.14\00:24:07.01 digging down into the nitty gritty... 00:24:07.04\00:24:09.11 the practical forms of service 00:24:09.14\00:24:11.15 specifically when it comes to dealing with 00:24:11.18\00:24:12.61 emergency situations, you know, like water rescue, 00:24:12.65\00:24:15.05 fire, scene safety, choking, 00:24:15.08\00:24:19.12 splinting, burns, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera, 00:24:19.15\00:24:22.59 more and more actually talking about 00:24:22.62\00:24:24.63 how we can practically be of service 00:24:24.69\00:24:26.66 and put our excellence to use 00:24:26.70\00:24:28.63 when it comes to other people... specifically in situations... 00:24:28.66\00:24:32.07 emergency situations like that. 00:24:32.10\00:24:34.50 And then finally, of course, restoration. 00:24:34.54\00:24:37.51 The Word of God has been before, behind, below, 00:24:37.54\00:24:40.24 all through the process... 00:24:40.28\00:24:42.11 one of my favorite parts... 00:24:42.14\00:24:43.95 last night at the close of the day, 00:24:43.98\00:24:45.75 we enjoyed what we called, "Boot Camp in a Box" 00:24:45.78\00:24:49.15 it was kind of the big questions in Christianity, 00:24:49.18\00:24:52.49 all packed into a small amount of time, 00:24:52.52\00:24:53.96 dealt with the issue of faith, 00:24:53.99\00:24:55.32 dealt with the issue of the Word of God, 00:24:55.36\00:24:57.89 the authority of the Word of God, 00:24:57.93\00:24:59.53 we dealt with the issue of humility, 00:24:59.56\00:25:00.90 some of the big things, had a blessed time together 00:25:00.93\00:25:03.33 and just as we close here... 00:25:03.37\00:25:04.93 we would like to share with you a small part 00:25:04.97\00:25:07.34 of our memory passage for this week, 00:25:07.37\00:25:10.44 we kind of split up Philippines chapter 2 00:25:10.47\00:25:12.87 and different ones of us attacked different parts 00:25:12.94\00:25:15.74 but we'd like to share with you 00:25:15.78\00:25:17.81 Philippines 2 verses 5 through 8, 00:25:17.85\00:25:19.81 as we close. 00:25:19.85\00:25:21.45 Ready? 00:25:21.48\00:25:26.22 "Let this mind be in you, 00:25:26.25\00:25:29.72 which was also in Christ Jesus: 00:25:29.79\00:25:31.96 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery 00:25:31.99\00:25:36.60 to be equal with God: 00:25:36.63\00:25:38.07 But made himself of no reputation, 00:25:38.13\00:25:41.27 and took upon him the form of a servant, 00:25:41.30\00:25:44.41 and was made in the likeness of men: 00:25:44.44\00:25:47.58 And being found in fashion as a man, 00:25:47.61\00:25:50.71 he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, 00:25:50.75\00:25:55.22 even the death of the cross. 00:30:01.30\00:30:04.47 Well, this week was amazing, just amazing, 00:30:04.50\00:30:07.60 I don't know, I've repeated it several times already 00:30:07.64\00:30:09.94 but if I could just take these forty kids 00:30:09.97\00:30:12.91 and start an academy, 00:30:12.94\00:30:14.78 we would turn the world upside down. 00:30:14.81\00:30:16.51 This is... this is how spiritual I found these young people to be 00:30:16.54\00:30:20.48 just amazing... really. 00:30:20.52\00:30:22.52 So, these ASI members, 00:30:22.55\00:30:24.49 who have children ages 15 and older, 00:30:24.55\00:30:27.36 what would you tell them? 00:30:27.39\00:30:28.79 Well, it's obvious, 00:30:28.82\00:30:30.93 there was a time when this program was questioned 00:30:30.96\00:30:34.96 as to whether it should go on or not go on 00:30:35.00\00:30:37.40 and we fought for it to keep on going, 00:30:37.43\00:30:39.77 and today it has proven to be an amazing, amazing blessing 00:30:39.80\00:30:43.94 and if I had anything to say to you, 00:30:43.97\00:30:46.07 get your kids ready for next year... 00:30:46.11\00:30:48.18 to come to this program and for the years to come, 00:30:48.21\00:30:50.95 if anyone ever thinks of closing this thing again, 00:30:50.98\00:30:53.68 they'll have to think twice 00:30:53.72\00:30:55.88 because we're going to deal with it. 00:30:55.92\00:30:59.59 Amen... next we have Mr. Job Winslow 00:30:59.62\00:31:03.29 and he is the Principal of Upper Columbia Academy 00:31:03.32\00:31:07.43 which is located about 20 miles right? 00:31:07.46\00:31:10.70 And they were so gracious, 00:31:10.73\00:31:12.87 they have a beautiful facility there, 00:31:12.90\00:31:14.94 and this is where we were housed... for the month, 00:31:14.97\00:31:18.01 all of our young people, we got our very own Dorm rooms, 00:31:18.04\00:31:21.24 sometimes we go to church schools 00:31:21.28\00:31:24.71 and we carry our bunk beds 00:31:24.75\00:31:26.72 and our kitchen and everything with us, 00:31:26.75\00:31:28.08 and sometimes we have 20 kids in one classroom 00:31:28.15\00:31:32.79 and that kind of cuts down on 00:31:32.85\00:31:36.29 the amount of rest and sleep that you can get 00:31:36.32\00:31:38.39 but this year, we were privileged to 00:31:38.43\00:31:42.03 have our home at the Upper Columbia Academy 00:31:42.06\00:31:45.53 and they were just so gracious and it was just a... 00:31:45.57\00:31:49.64 a beautiful housing experience, 00:31:49.67\00:31:52.31 in fact, we felt like we were at a hotel 00:31:52.34\00:31:54.01 and so Mr. Winslow, 00:31:54.04\00:31:57.21 we are so thankful for your hospitality 00:31:57.25\00:31:59.98 and I know that you 00:32:00.02\00:32:02.52 came and visited our Program a couple of times, 00:32:02.58\00:32:04.89 what were your impressions? 00:32:04.92\00:32:06.25 You know, Leasa, it was amazing to have 00:32:06.29\00:32:09.36 Youth for Jesus on our campus 00:32:09.39\00:32:11.29 and I'm looking at them because I had a lot of fun with them 00:32:11.33\00:32:13.73 and just real quick, 00:32:13.76\00:32:17.43 the thing that was amazing to me 00:32:17.47\00:32:19.07 when I got to go and give them a worship... 00:32:19.10\00:32:21.07 I got to go and worship with them one time 00:32:21.10\00:32:22.97 and share a little bit of what Jesus has done in my life, 00:32:23.00\00:32:25.34 and the enthusiasm that they had was infectious, 00:32:25.37\00:32:28.41 it was just amazing, starting with the Song Service, 00:32:28.44\00:32:31.45 writing to the testimonies that they had 00:32:31.48\00:32:33.88 and even while they listened to this old guy talk, 00:32:33.92\00:32:36.48 it was just a blast, 00:32:36.52\00:32:38.45 but the thing that really, really made a difference for me 00:32:38.49\00:32:41.72 that was amazing was... 00:32:41.76\00:32:43.63 when I got to talk to one of the students 00:32:43.66\00:32:46.19 when I was driving the bus... Leasa: Okay... 00:32:46.23\00:32:48.26 and I said, "What was the best thing 00:32:48.30\00:32:50.43 that happened over this entire time that you were here? 00:32:50.47\00:32:53.34 And this young lady, unquestionably looked at me 00:32:53.37\00:32:55.97 with this amazing sparkle in her eye and said, 00:32:56.00\00:32:58.57 "I got to lead somebody to Jesus" 00:32:58.61\00:33:01.64 That was so awesome and she was so excited 00:33:01.68\00:33:05.25 she said, "I'm going to see her get baptized," 00:33:05.31\00:33:06.95 that was just incredible. 00:33:07.02\00:33:09.15 Yes, now I know that you and I have had conversations... 00:33:09.18\00:33:12.72 you're the Principal of a High School... Academy... 00:33:12.75\00:33:15.89 and you have a vision, you have a passion 00:33:15.92\00:33:18.89 for these young people to have 00:33:18.93\00:33:21.23 some of the similar experiences so what are your plans? 00:33:21.26\00:33:23.77 Well, Leasa, we... we're doing a lot of things 00:33:23.80\00:33:27.70 in the Upper Columbia Academy 00:33:27.74\00:33:29.07 and I have amazing staff that I am excited to be a part of 00:33:29.10\00:33:32.57 but we're specifically thinking about evangelism and outreach 00:33:32.61\00:33:36.21 and discipleship... Leasa: Amen. 00:33:36.24\00:33:38.08 And in that outreach and discipleship, 00:33:38.11\00:33:39.91 we've actually been able to hire somebody 00:33:39.95\00:33:41.75 just to take care of that 00:33:41.78\00:33:43.12 and they are putting programs in place 00:33:43.15\00:33:45.02 and looking at how they can actually do 00:33:45.05\00:33:46.86 both traditional evangelism and things like we just did 00:33:46.89\00:33:50.36 or things like this group just was a part of 00:33:50.39\00:33:53.76 in the Pathways to Health 00:33:53.80\00:33:55.13 and I am so excited about 00:33:55.16\00:33:56.67 things like that that we're getting going, 00:33:56.70\00:33:58.47 we're also getting agriculture things going 00:33:58.50\00:34:00.20 but specifically, I love to think about outreach 00:34:00.24\00:34:04.54 and just tonight even... 00:34:04.57\00:34:06.37 I was able to spend a little bit of time 00:34:06.41\00:34:08.58 talking with Chris Luis and to say, 00:34:08.61\00:34:12.75 "What do you think about us coming to LA 00:34:12.81\00:34:15.18 and helping you out in the spring?" 00:34:15.25\00:34:16.89 And he said, "Let's talk" 00:34:16.95\00:34:18.29 so I don't know what's going to happen 00:34:18.32\00:34:20.16 but God is good and He has bigger plans 00:34:20.19\00:34:22.16 than I can ever imagine for His school. 00:34:22.19\00:34:24.23 Yes, I know about your Farm Program, 00:34:24.26\00:34:26.09 our kids spent many an hour weeding your potato patch 00:34:26.13\00:34:29.46 so... and we still had quite a few rows left 00:34:29.53\00:34:33.70 before we were going to leave 00:34:33.74\00:34:35.24 and so we really, really wanted to finish 00:34:35.27\00:34:37.84 and so one day, every single one of our kids 00:34:37.87\00:34:40.28 went out there and we finished the potato patch. 00:34:40.31\00:34:42.68 Amen... 00:34:42.71\00:34:44.18 It looks beautiful. 00:34:44.21\00:34:45.58 Yes, thank you so much. I would never really... 00:45:18.65\00:45:22.05 my parents were the people 00:45:22.08\00:45:23.92 that encouraged my spiritual walk, 00:45:23.95\00:45:25.69 I never really took an interest in that, 00:45:25.72\00:45:28.12 I didn't go to church to get closer to God, 00:45:28.19\00:45:30.33 I went to church to hang with friends and what not. 00:45:30.39\00:45:32.59 So you came to Youth for Jesus 00:45:32.63\00:45:34.90 and one thing you missed, I know, was your electronics 00:45:34.93\00:45:37.93 because you're really big into sports 00:45:38.00\00:45:40.00 and you needed to check on your sports teams every hour, 00:45:40.04\00:45:42.37 is that right? 00:45:42.40\00:45:43.81 Yes. 00:45:43.84\00:45:45.24 Okay but at Youth for Jesus, we don't have electronics 00:45:45.27\00:45:49.34 because we want to dedicate this month 00:45:49.38\00:45:51.28 to your relationship with God 00:45:51.31\00:45:53.28 and we want to leave all distractions aside, 00:45:53.31\00:45:55.25 so how was that experience for you? 00:45:55.28\00:45:56.92 Um, at first when I got here, I was like... 00:45:56.95\00:46:00.09 "What am I doing with my life, like, why am I here?" 00:46:00.12\00:46:03.86 But then as time progressed and I got to talking with 00:46:03.89\00:46:07.60 my Bible Worker, Eugene, he was a really powerful impact 00:46:07.63\00:46:11.17 on my life and he really made me think about 00:46:11.20\00:46:14.27 "Do I really want to go to heaven? 00:46:14.30\00:46:16.60 Do I really want to encourage my walk with God? 00:46:16.64\00:46:19.27 What do I want to get out of this program?" 00:46:19.34\00:46:21.94 And so at the end of the Program you shared a testimony 00:46:21.98\00:46:25.65 and you had made a decision and what was that? 00:46:25.68\00:46:28.05 So one night I was praying and I was like, 00:46:28.08\00:46:30.39 "If I don't get closer to God after YFJ and what not... 00:46:30.45\00:46:34.39 this is a waste... like, why did I come?" 00:46:34.42\00:46:36.22 So I prayed that if sports was what was keeping me 00:46:36.26\00:46:40.13 from getting closer to God, to take that away from me. 00:46:40.16\00:46:44.00 Amen and we're going to be praying for you, 00:46:44.03\00:46:47.57 thank you so much. 00:46:47.60\00:46:48.94 This is Kendall and Kendall, you had a plan for summer 00:46:48.97\00:46:54.41 that did not include YFJ, is that right? 00:46:54.44\00:46:56.01 Yes, I did. 00:46:56.04\00:46:57.38 Leasa: And where are you from? 00:46:57.41\00:46:58.75 Kendall: Originally? Leasa: No. 00:46:58.78\00:47:00.18 Right now, I'm from Wenatchee, Washington. 00:47:00.22\00:47:01.78 Okay, it's about three hours from here 00:47:01.82\00:47:03.82 and you had a plan and then you got a call 00:47:03.85\00:47:05.82 and we asked you to do something, what was that? 00:47:05.85\00:47:08.92 So, I was planning, this summer, 00:47:08.96\00:47:11.63 to be taking a CNA Class at our local Community College 00:47:11.66\00:47:15.53 and then I got a call 00:47:15.56\00:47:16.90 in January from someone I didn't expect to get a call from 00:47:16.93\00:47:19.47 it was from Ms. Vivian, she said, 00:47:19.53\00:47:20.97 "Kendall, what would you think about coming back to speak 00:47:21.00\00:47:24.31 at Youth for Jesus?" 00:47:24.34\00:47:25.67 and I was like, "Well, I'll pray about it" 00:47:25.71\00:47:28.01 and so I finished talking to her 00:47:28.04\00:47:30.25 and I started praying about it and I was like, 00:47:30.28\00:47:32.01 "No, I don't think it's going to work 00:47:32.08\00:47:33.42 because I have three things... " 00:47:33.45\00:47:34.78 I needed to be able to find 00:47:34.82\00:47:36.52 another way to take the CNA Class, 00:47:36.55\00:47:38.02 I needed to work or I needed to find 00:47:38.05\00:47:39.62 some way to pay for school, 00:47:39.65\00:47:40.99 and then I just had a lot on my plate with the other... 00:47:41.02\00:47:43.02 with the Nursing prerequisites and so I was like, 00:47:43.06\00:47:44.89 "I don't think this is going to work... God. " 00:47:44.93\00:47:46.63 Okay, but you obviously ended up here. 00:47:46.66\00:47:49.56 But I did, so then about a week later I went 00:47:49.60\00:47:52.23 and I talked to my Nursing Advisor 00:47:52.27\00:47:54.30 and she was like, "Not a problem, 00:47:54.34\00:47:56.27 we'll have you take the three-week accelerated course 00:47:56.30\00:47:58.64 at the end of the summer" 00:47:58.67\00:48:00.01 and then I was like, "Okay... " so that worked out, 00:48:00.04\00:48:02.21 and then I had forgotten that my grandparents had sent me an 00:48:02.24\00:48:04.41 application for a scholarship 00:48:04.45\00:48:05.95 and I didn't even know how much money it was for, 00:48:05.98\00:48:08.55 so the day before it was due, 00:48:08.58\00:48:10.55 I filled it out and applied for it 00:48:10.59\00:48:11.92 and I ended up receiving and it was for the exact amount 00:48:11.95\00:48:14.09 that I needed for Nursing School in the fall. 00:48:14.12\00:48:17.26 Amen... amen... amen... so... 00:48:17.33\00:48:19.49 preaching the gospel to the general public, 00:48:19.53\00:48:22.96 what was that experience like? 00:48:23.00\00:48:24.33 Well, I sometimes think, 00:48:24.37\00:48:26.00 we think that... us sharing the gospel... 00:48:26.03\00:48:28.47 that we're blessing other people but God is blessing us 00:48:28.50\00:48:32.07 and just to be able to... 00:48:32.11\00:48:33.44 to spend that time reading His Word 00:48:33.48\00:48:35.48 and then being able to teach it and share it with other people, 00:48:35.51\00:48:38.05 it's just... it takes on a whole new form 00:48:38.08\00:48:40.55 and it becomes living in a whole new way 00:48:40.58\00:48:42.78 and it was just an amazing experience 00:48:42.85\00:48:45.25 and I'm so glad God had a specific plan 00:48:45.29\00:48:47.66 for me to be here at Youth for Jesus this summer. 00:48:47.69\00:48:49.99 Amen... thank you so much for serving Kendall. 00:48:50.03\00:48:52.29 Okay, this is Michael Cuke. 00:48:52.33\00:48:54.93 Michael Cuke came from New York as one of the last replacements 00:48:54.96\00:48:59.13 for some people that couldn't come 00:48:59.17\00:49:00.50 now, what was your experience at Youth for Jesus like? 00:49:00.54\00:49:04.51 Okay, so, like Ms. Leasa said, I came from New York 00:49:04.54\00:49:08.51 and... I mean... it was a pretty big contrast, 00:49:08.54\00:49:11.31 coming from New York, to like, Farmville... basically 00:49:11.35\00:49:15.28 and kind of like other people I know down here, 00:49:15.32\00:49:20.99 when I first came here I was like, 00:49:21.02\00:49:22.36 "I can't do this, I have to go to bed at 9:30, 00:49:22.39\00:49:25.19 they have pizza with no cheese, they take away my phone," 00:49:25.23\00:49:30.70 I'm like, "I can't do this" 00:49:30.73\00:49:32.50 but as the days progressed and just like Nelson was saying, 00:49:32.53\00:49:35.80 the way Youth for Jesus is... 00:49:35.84\00:49:37.84 it causes you not to feel... like... pressured 00:49:37.87\00:49:40.78 to be in the church or to serve God, 00:49:40.81\00:49:42.71 it causes you to make it like a desire... 00:49:42.74\00:49:44.71 and you want to serve God, you want to finally choose 00:49:44.78\00:49:47.25 because God and a relationship with him 00:49:47.28\00:49:49.25 and making it to heaven is bigger than the cell phone, 00:49:49.28\00:49:51.75 it's bigger than pizza with cheese, 00:49:51.79\00:49:53.49 it's bigger than anything you could ever imagine 00:49:53.52\00:49:55.89 and coming to Youth for Jesus 00:49:55.92\00:49:57.63 is one of the best decisions I've ever made in my life. 00:49:57.66\00:50:00.10 Thank you Michael.
