Welcome to another Offering in Action Segment 00:00:20.62\00:00:23.65 where we highlight for you one of the projects 00:00:23.69\00:00:26.65 that is in your program... 00:00:26.69\00:00:28.22 that will be a recipient of the offering this year. 00:00:28.26\00:00:31.19 With me is Jason Fournier 00:00:31.23\00:00:33.23 and he's the Director of Kibidula Farms. 00:00:33.26\00:00:35.60 Jason, tell us... where is Kibidula Farms? 00:00:35.63\00:00:38.13 Well, Kibidula is in the Southern Highlands of Tanzania, 00:00:38.17\00:00:41.40 the Eastern side of Africa. 00:00:41.44\00:00:43.20 And tell us what are some of the programs 00:00:43.24\00:00:45.84 that flow out of the ministry of Kibidula. 00:00:45.87\00:00:48.71 At Kibidula we have an Elementary School 00:00:48.74\00:00:51.58 of about 130 students. 00:00:51.61\00:00:53.72 We not only teach them ABCs and how to read and write 00:00:53.75\00:00:57.85 but we're... our goal is to teach them about Jesus 00:00:57.89\00:01:01.96 and that they become missionaries. 00:01:01.99\00:01:03.53 Now, I know that all of the children that come to the school 00:01:03.56\00:01:07.63 not all of them are able to kind of complete the grades 00:01:07.66\00:01:11.03 and the information that is given to them 00:01:11.07\00:01:14.80 what do you do with them? 00:01:14.84\00:01:16.30 Well, actually in our school, they all do pass 00:01:16.34\00:01:19.14 but we find in many schools around... 00:01:19.17\00:01:21.18 we get a lot of children who fail Primary School 00:01:21.21\00:01:24.15 and once they fail... there's no opportunity to continue 00:01:24.18\00:01:27.65 in the normal school system 00:01:27.68\00:01:29.55 so we have a School of Agriculture 00:01:29.58\00:01:31.79 where we take in these Primary or Elementary School dropouts 00:01:31.82\00:01:35.92 and we teach them agriculture and life skills such as 00:01:35.96\00:01:41.83 Carpentry, Sewing, Nutrition, Bible, English, Accounting 00:01:41.86\00:01:47.70 and we have them in our school for two years, 00:01:47.74\00:01:51.67 it gives them time to mature 00:01:51.71\00:01:53.04 before they go back to the village 00:01:53.07\00:01:54.41 and become more successful subsistence farmers. 00:01:54.44\00:01:57.55 So you actually give them some tools to work with 00:01:57.58\00:02:00.65 so that they... they haven't failed... 00:02:00.68\00:02:02.62 they can actually live a life. 00:02:02.68\00:02:04.02 Right... and what we actually find is many of them... 00:02:04.05\00:02:06.25 once they've been through our school, 00:02:06.29\00:02:07.66 they realize they can pass... 00:02:07.72\00:02:09.22 they go on to private secondary schools 00:02:09.29\00:02:14.66 and finish their education. 00:02:14.70\00:02:16.30 Wonderful, wonderful, share with us... 00:02:16.36\00:02:18.07 there's actually something there... 00:02:18.10\00:02:19.77 so even though it's called Kibidula Farms 00:02:19.80\00:02:22.04 or Kibi... as we affectionately call it, 00:02:22.10\00:02:24.41 you do... there's schooling 00:02:24.47\00:02:27.34 and obviously there's some farming 00:02:27.38\00:02:28.94 that occurs there as well... agriculture? 00:02:28.98\00:02:31.58 In the past... ASI has sponsored an Avocado Farm 00:02:31.61\00:02:37.39 which... the goal is to continue to support the mission 00:02:37.42\00:02:42.32 going on... we've planted about 10,000 trees 00:02:42.36\00:02:45.29 and they're in the process... 00:02:45.33\00:02:46.93 some are actually being harvested this year 00:02:46.96\00:02:49.23 and over the next few years, 00:02:49.26\00:02:50.67 that plantation will reach maturity. 00:02:50.70\00:02:53.20 Debbie: 10,000 trees? Jason: Yes. 00:02:53.23\00:02:55.40 That's a lot of trees, 00:02:55.44\00:02:56.77 so how many workers do you have... staff... 00:02:56.81\00:03:01.11 at Kibidula Farms to accomplish that? 00:03:01.14\00:03:03.55 Between staff and workers 00:03:03.58\00:03:05.75 we have about 60 on-campus workers. 00:03:05.78\00:03:09.88 Now I understand that you also have family recently... 00:03:09.92\00:03:13.79 involved yourself in some printing work, 00:03:13.82\00:03:16.42 tell us how that has come about and why. 00:03:16.46\00:03:18.99 Well, Kibidula has been involved 00:03:19.03\00:03:21.00 for many years in the publishing work, 00:03:21.03\00:03:23.10 we have been translating books, preparing them for printing 00:03:23.13\00:03:27.14 and arranging printing in either Korea or America and now Poland 00:03:27.17\00:03:31.21 but... 00:03:31.27\00:03:33.58 more recently... we've realized 00:03:33.61\00:03:36.75 that there is more need for tools for evangelism 00:03:36.78\00:03:40.15 that church members can have in their hands 00:03:40.18\00:03:41.95 to give out to the public and so we recently acquired 00:03:41.98\00:03:47.76 not only a printing press and its associated equipment 00:03:47.79\00:03:53.56 but a Printer from here in the United States 00:03:53.60\00:03:57.43 and he is running this press in his garage. 00:03:57.47\00:04:01.30 Oh, in his garage... okay... so I've seen... 00:04:01.34\00:04:05.51 I'm a daughter of a Printer and so I've seen it, 00:04:05.54\00:04:09.68 it's massive and you need a lot of space 00:04:09.71\00:04:12.61 so he must have a huge garage. 00:04:12.68\00:04:15.72 Actually it's not, 00:04:15.75\00:04:17.12 it's smaller than a standard garage, 00:04:17.19\00:04:18.92 and when you go in there, it's very crowded, 00:04:18.95\00:04:21.82 you've got three printers 00:04:21.89\00:04:23.73 and the machine for cutting the paper 00:04:23.76\00:04:28.66 and then in his kitchen, he's got the Plate Makers 00:04:28.70\00:04:31.90 and in his living room, he's got... Bindery Equipment 00:04:31.93\00:04:35.10 and when you're producing a small book, 00:04:35.14\00:04:39.14 you've got 1,000s of pages in little stacks 00:04:39.17\00:04:43.11 all over his dining room and kitchen counters and bedrooms 00:04:43.14\00:04:47.12 so it's quite complicated, actually. 00:04:47.18\00:04:50.79 Okay, so they might have him on "Hoarders" 00:04:50.82\00:04:54.06 hoarders of printing materials and everything, 00:04:54.09\00:04:56.89 so this is a... this presents the need 00:04:56.93\00:04:59.66 that's reflected in the project for this year. 00:04:59.69\00:05:03.37 Right, church members are craving these tools 00:05:03.40\00:05:06.53 and as we've been sending out these booklets, 00:05:06.57\00:05:09.70 pamphlets and Bibles Studies, 00:05:09.74\00:05:12.11 the orders are just coming in, people want more and more 00:05:12.14\00:05:16.08 and the space is way too small 00:05:16.11\00:05:17.81 and so the idea is to build a building 00:05:17.85\00:05:21.28 that will house the equipment 00:05:21.32\00:05:22.98 with enough space to work comfortably and efficiently. 00:05:23.02\00:05:26.55 Now you said that there was a lot of need 00:05:26.59\00:05:28.89 and requests for these materials, 00:05:28.92\00:05:31.19 you shared with me the experience of 00:05:31.23\00:05:34.20 having gone out and... someone... 00:05:34.23\00:05:37.17 that I think that's even gone through the school 00:05:37.20\00:05:40.37 that you saw and how they were using the materials. 00:05:40.44\00:05:43.57 We have a School of Evangelism on our place 00:05:43.61\00:05:47.31 and so we have about 50 people per year graduating 00:05:47.38\00:05:51.11 it's a five-month course, we do it twice a year 00:05:51.18\00:05:54.65 and as they go out... I don't remember them all 00:05:54.68\00:05:57.75 but we build one-day churches and many times 00:05:57.82\00:06:00.82 when I'm in distant areas building these churches, 00:06:00.86\00:06:04.13 I meet the person who is in charge of that group 00:06:04.19\00:06:07.40 where we're building the church 00:06:07.43\00:06:08.83 and they'll say, "Do you remember me?" 00:06:08.86\00:06:10.40 and I'm like... "The face is familiar... " 00:06:10.43\00:06:11.90 they attended our school and now they've gone out... 00:06:11.93\00:06:15.60 they've started a church 00:06:15.64\00:06:16.97 and they've been ordering Bible Studies, 00:06:17.01\00:06:20.34 they've been spreading them out 00:06:20.38\00:06:21.71 and here are the fruits... we see them 00:06:21.74\00:06:23.08 and this is all over Tanzania... this is happening 00:06:23.11\00:06:26.28 and it's such a blessing to be a part of this 00:06:26.31\00:06:30.29 and to now witness first hand time after time... 00:06:30.32\00:06:34.26 these churches are the result 00:06:34.29\00:06:35.82 of the work that's been going on at Kibidula. 00:06:35.86\00:06:38.49 So just a sidebar question, so you're involved in building 00:06:38.53\00:06:42.13 one-day churches all throughout Tanzania 00:06:42.16\00:06:44.17 to meet those needs? 00:06:44.20\00:06:45.53 Right... over the past several years 00:06:45.57\00:06:47.50 we've built several hundred churches 00:06:47.54\00:06:49.54 this year alone, 00:06:49.57\00:06:50.91 we are putting up about a 100 churches 00:06:50.94\00:06:52.71 and it's a huge blessing, 00:06:52.74\00:06:56.11 I can't say how much blessing this is, 00:06:56.14\00:06:58.18 it's not just housing members that are already there 00:06:58.21\00:07:02.82 once you build a church in the area, 00:07:02.85\00:07:05.39 the church grows rapidly because 00:07:05.42\00:07:07.92 it's one of the ways that attracts people 00:07:07.96\00:07:11.53 that there is a church here, what's it all about? 00:07:11.56\00:07:15.03 They start to attend and then they... 00:07:15.06\00:07:16.80 they fill it up... and it's such a blessing. 00:07:16.83\00:07:19.43 So the one-day church of some sorts 00:07:19.47\00:07:23.20 is a tool for evangelism as it attracts people to come. 00:07:23.24\00:07:26.21 It's a huge tool for evangelism. 00:07:26.24\00:07:28.24 And so the printing press, 00:07:28.28\00:07:30.01 the building that will house the printing press 00:07:30.05\00:07:32.51 will allow you to meet the needs of the requests 00:07:32.55\00:07:34.85 for literature that you receive. 00:07:34.88\00:07:36.42 That's right. 00:07:36.45\00:07:37.79 Thank you so much Jason, 00:07:37.82\00:07:39.15 we will continue to pray for Kibidula Farms, 00:07:39.19\00:07:41.46 it's way more than a farm but it's meeting God's bidding. 00:07:41.49\00:07:45.23 Thank you very much and thank you ASI 00:07:45.26\00:07:47.03 for supporting these projects. 00:07:47.06\00:07:48.40 Now coming to the podium is a team of four, 00:07:48.43\00:07:53.87 Henry and Arleen Stubbs, they lead out World Youth Group 00:07:53.90\00:07:58.64 and with them is Luis Armador and Yanet Carballo 00:07:58.67\00:08:02.44 who are coming, so come right on... 00:08:02.48\00:08:05.28 okay, you guys come on this way, you know, 00:08:05.31\00:08:08.18 when you get a whole lot of people, 00:08:08.22\00:08:09.55 we got to get close together, all right... 00:08:09.58\00:08:10.92 very good, all right, 00:08:10.95\00:08:12.32 so, Henry, first of all I'd like you to share with us 00:08:12.35\00:08:15.46 a little bit about World Youth Group, 00:08:15.49\00:08:18.23 give us an overview of what this is and what they do. 00:08:18.26\00:08:21.30 World Youth Group was a Sabbath School class 00:08:21.33\00:08:24.60 in a little church plant 00:08:24.63\00:08:26.30 my parents started in South Carolina, 00:08:26.33\00:08:28.30 it was a little group of youth 00:08:28.34\00:08:30.07 that wanted to do something for Jesus, 00:08:30.11\00:08:32.71 it was originally in Westminster 00:08:32.74\00:08:36.04 the WYG is what the youth started calling themselves 00:08:36.11\00:08:39.85 when we started getting involved in missions 00:08:39.88\00:08:41.48 first in Chile and later in Cuba 00:08:41.52\00:08:43.32 and as it outgrew and became a 501c3 00:08:43.35\00:08:47.89 the youth kind of renamed it and they said, 00:08:47.92\00:08:49.92 it's not just Westminister Youth Group anymore, 00:08:49.96\00:08:51.73 it's World Youth Group, 00:08:51.76\00:08:53.09 and we do four things in Cuba by God's grace, 00:08:53.13\00:08:56.56 and we're so grateful for what the Lord has done, 00:08:56.60\00:09:00.24 we do nothing but He does everything 00:09:00.27\00:09:03.14 and we are just grateful. 00:09:03.17\00:09:04.94 Those four things are: Train, Send, Harvest and Establish. 00:09:04.97\00:09:12.85 You got it? 00:09:12.88\00:09:14.25 Train, Send, Harvest and Establish. 00:09:14.28\00:09:17.62 We train young people, we train youth in Cuba 00:09:17.65\00:09:21.22 to dedicate a year or more of their life, 00:09:21.26\00:09:23.86 many of them are just staying with it now 00:09:23.89\00:09:26.63 because they're just excited about evangelism 00:09:26.66\00:09:29.70 but they go out and learn how to help people 00:09:29.73\00:09:32.73 in areas where we have no Adventist presence. 00:09:32.80\00:09:35.80 That's our burden... Debbie... 00:09:35.84\00:09:37.97 it is areas where... in Cuba... 00:09:38.01\00:09:40.08 where we've never been before as an Adventist Church 00:09:40.11\00:09:42.78 no Sabbath Keepers, very little Protestantism 00:09:42.81\00:09:45.11 and God has blessed. 00:09:45.15\00:09:46.61 Secondly, we support them to go out, 00:09:46.68\00:09:49.15 we have to buy a house in that town 00:09:49.18\00:09:51.85 and give them some money to live on 00:09:51.89\00:09:54.52 you can live on 25 dollars a month in Cuba 00:09:54.56\00:09:57.29 and we have 40 full-time workers now, 00:09:57.33\00:09:59.96 we're going to 60 and hope to go to a 100 soon. 00:10:00.00\00:10:03.23 And the third thing that we do is harvest. 00:10:03.26\00:10:07.40 We come down with North American young people... 00:10:07.44\00:10:10.01 North American youth and join the Cuban youth 00:10:10.04\00:10:12.47 in this new Unentered area after they've been there a year 00:10:12.54\00:10:15.78 and have a harvest and lastly... we establish. 00:10:15.81\00:10:19.11 We buy a house, we build a church, 00:10:19.15\00:10:22.05 we're building a school in Cuba, 00:10:22.08\00:10:24.89 we're building a Medical Missionary School 00:10:24.92\00:10:28.62 and a Bible Worker School to have a permanent presence 00:10:28.66\00:10:32.13 right now they've let us use the SDA Seminary 00:10:32.16\00:10:35.20 that's where we've been working 00:10:35.26\00:10:36.60 in harmony with them, it's been a blessing. 00:10:36.63\00:10:38.50 And so that's actually the project, 00:10:38.53\00:10:40.94 that we want to be able to support World Youth Group 00:10:40.97\00:10:44.31 so that they can build or purchase 00:10:44.34\00:10:46.64 and make provision for seven more house churches. 00:10:46.68\00:10:50.45 Let me ask Arlene a question, 00:10:50.48\00:10:51.85 Arleen, share with me... 00:10:51.88\00:10:53.45 you've been working with these youth from the beginning 00:10:53.48\00:10:55.68 what kind of impact is this having on their lives? 00:10:55.72\00:10:58.72 Well, it's been exciting for us and for them, 00:10:58.75\00:11:03.22 we started with just one youth and before we knew it 00:11:03.26\00:11:07.56 we had almost as many youth as we did adults 00:11:07.60\00:11:12.00 attending the whole church but they went around the world. 00:11:12.03\00:11:17.01 At one time we had youth working 00:11:17.04\00:11:20.38 I think, in about six different places as missionaries 00:11:20.41\00:11:24.88 and several have gone to Southern to study Theology, 00:11:24.91\00:11:29.38 some are pastors and pastors' wives 00:11:29.42\00:11:32.89 and we still stay in contact with many of them 00:11:32.92\00:11:36.66 and we love them and we're like family 00:11:36.69\00:11:38.66 and just like all of us here 00:11:38.69\00:11:41.86 and we just praise the Lord for the opportunity 00:11:41.90\00:11:44.30 to work with youth and... 00:11:44.33\00:11:45.67 God has really blessed in their lives and in ours. 00:11:45.70\00:11:48.17 Amen. Amen... 00:11:48.20\00:11:49.64 Now I'd like to actually shift it over to the Cuban... 00:11:49.67\00:11:53.81 the Cuban side, okay, with Brother Luis and Yanet. 00:11:53.84\00:11:57.95 All right, Yanet tell me what is your role... 00:11:57.98\00:12:00.95 you lived there in Cuba... 00:12:00.98\00:12:02.32 Yes... yes, we did... 00:12:02.35\00:12:03.69 And so, this is actually your first visit 00:12:03.72\00:12:05.05 to the States... to America? 00:12:05.09\00:12:06.42 Yes, it is. 00:12:06.45\00:12:07.79 Okay, tell me what your role is with World Youth Group. 00:12:07.82\00:12:10.76 Well, I first started as a translator, 00:12:10.79\00:12:13.56 then I turned into a teacher and then I turned into a mother 00:12:13.60\00:12:19.37 so everybody knows that that being a mother 00:12:19.43\00:12:22.17 is a very demanding task 00:12:22.20\00:12:24.31 so that's mostly what I do, 00:12:24.34\00:12:26.41 I take a little time to go and translate 00:12:26.44\00:12:29.01 and then I take a little time to go and teach 00:12:29.04\00:12:31.05 so this is how we got involved. 00:12:31.08\00:12:33.55 Okay and this is a husband and wife team 00:12:33.62\00:12:35.88 so your husband... Luis... what is your role 00:12:35.92\00:12:38.12 at the Cuban Union and tell me how 00:12:38.15\00:12:41.69 World Youth Group Harvest Ministry 00:12:41.72\00:12:45.19 has impacted the evangelism efforts for the Union. 00:12:45.23\00:12:49.36 Well, I'm working there as the Spirit of Prophecy Coordinator 00:12:49.40\00:12:53.67 for the Cuban Union and it's been a blessing 00:12:53.70\00:12:56.71 working with this ministry. 00:12:56.74\00:12:59.11 We met them in 2006, we started working with them 00:12:59.17\00:13:02.64 as a helper and translator as well, 00:13:02.68\00:13:05.55 in 2010, I was called to serve 00:13:05.58\00:13:08.08 in this position in the Cuban Union 00:13:08.12\00:13:10.19 and then the experience 00:13:10.22\00:13:12.39 we had had in the past with World Youth Group 00:13:12.42\00:13:15.22 we tried to implement that in the whole island 00:13:15.26\00:13:17.93 that means that now the three Conferences are in the mission 00:13:17.96\00:13:22.06 the Bible Workers there have been trained 00:13:22.10\00:13:25.10 and those Conferences have been equipped 00:13:25.13\00:13:28.10 with all the devices they need for Health Expos. 00:13:28.14\00:13:31.24 Today, I can say... I can tell you that 00:13:31.27\00:13:35.38 this is the most effective missionary tool 00:13:35.41\00:13:39.68 in the Cuban Union a lot of youth are on fire 00:13:39.71\00:13:43.99 they want to be a student of the LIGHT School, 00:13:44.02\00:13:47.49 every year, we receive a lot of phone calls, 00:13:47.52\00:13:50.63 they want to be a part of this dream as well. 00:13:50.66\00:13:53.53 And what kind of impact has it had in terms of response, 00:13:53.56\00:13:58.23 have you had baptisms, 00:13:58.27\00:14:00.44 you've got churches that are growing... 00:14:00.47\00:14:02.24 Wonderful question, we have 40 Bible Workers, 00:14:02.27\00:14:08.81 they are working full time 00:14:08.84\00:14:10.65 over 240 graduates from the LIGHT School, 00:14:10.68\00:14:17.25 we have had five one-month LIGHT Schools there 00:14:17.29\00:14:22.66 now we're planning to start a six-month LIGHT School, 00:14:22.69\00:14:27.10 lot of Leaders and Laymen... they are really desiring 00:14:27.13\00:14:31.50 a Bible Worker... 00:14:31.53\00:14:33.34 Medical Missionary in their communities. 00:14:33.37\00:14:35.20 So you mentioned... I want to bring this back 00:14:35.24\00:14:37.87 so that we don't miss it, you said, "A LIGHT School?" 00:14:37.91\00:14:41.18 So is this LIGHT that comes to provide the training? 00:14:41.21\00:14:44.45 The curriculum... yes... provided by LIGHT... 00:14:44.48\00:14:46.75 they really help us. 00:14:46.82\00:14:48.78 Okay so here again we see the connection... that's right... 00:14:48.85\00:14:52.25 and the collaboration of our ministries together for service. 00:14:52.29\00:14:55.66 Wonderful... wonderful. 00:14:55.69\00:14:57.23 For me this is a perfect example 00:14:57.26\00:14:58.59 of how the formal structure of the church 00:14:58.63\00:15:01.43 can be blended with the self-supporting ministries, 00:15:01.46\00:15:04.33 they are working in coordination 00:15:04.40\00:15:06.37 with the Leaders of the Conferences 00:15:06.40\00:15:08.30 and the Union... going forward to win souls for Christ. 00:15:08.34\00:15:13.04 Well, praise God, thank you very much, 00:15:13.07\00:15:15.24 Henry and Arleen... Luis: God bless you too. 00:15:19.41\00:15:21.32 Greg... welcome... you're from? 00:15:21.35\00:15:26.96 Originally, I'm from around Grand Rapids, Michigan. 00:15:27.02\00:15:30.49 And, tell us a little bit about your upbringing as a young adult 00:15:30.53\00:15:36.36 or adolescent there. 00:15:36.40\00:15:37.73 I was raised a Seventh-day Adventist, 00:15:37.77\00:15:39.20 I'd... I had a really... 00:15:39.23\00:15:42.10 I had a really average Seventh-day Adventist upbringing 00:15:42.17\00:15:46.61 I was a Pathfinder, 00:15:46.64\00:15:47.98 a member of the lonia Seventh-day Adventist Church 00:15:48.01\00:15:50.08 so... an awesome childhood. 00:15:50.15\00:15:52.41 And so then, things changed a little bit with your family 00:15:52.45\00:15:55.82 and you went to a public school, then what happened? 00:15:55.85\00:15:59.29 Well, my parents divorced and ultimately I was led into 00:15:59.32\00:16:02.99 a public school system where I made the wrong friends, 00:16:03.02\00:16:06.26 started making the wrong choices... wrong decisions 00:16:06.29\00:16:09.90 which ultimately led me into a juvenile life of crime. 00:16:09.93\00:16:13.54 And what did that include? 00:16:13.57\00:16:15.14 It started with smoking cigarettes, 00:16:15.17\00:16:17.54 sneaking out of the house, 00:16:17.57\00:16:18.91 ultimately it led to smoking Marijuana 00:16:18.94\00:16:21.64 and ultimately... beyond that... to selling Marijuana. 00:16:21.68\00:16:24.78 And so, you actually became a dealer 00:16:24.81\00:16:27.12 and this became your profession, give us some idea 00:16:27.15\00:16:30.09 as to how much business you were doing in drug pushing. 00:16:30.12\00:16:33.02 By the age of 18, 00:16:33.05\00:16:34.89 I had made the acquaintance of an individual 00:16:34.92\00:16:37.53 who was in the Mexican Mafia, 00:16:37.56\00:16:39.79 he was not your average supplier 00:16:39.83\00:16:42.03 and by the age of... about nineteen and a half, 00:16:42.06\00:16:45.10 I was selling on average... about 40 pounds a week. 00:16:45.13\00:16:48.14 And so, in dollars that's... 00:16:48.17\00:16:50.74 you were selling about 8,000 dollars worth of drugs a day? 00:16:50.77\00:16:55.41 Yes. 00:16:55.44\00:16:56.78 And that profited you...? 00:16:56.81\00:16:58.15 About 2,000 dollars a day would be the average, 00:16:58.18\00:17:00.78 and some days I'd have some sales of over 32,000, 00:17:00.82\00:17:03.55 I'd make eight grand a sale... 00:17:03.59\00:17:05.72 Eight thousand dollars a day that you were making 00:17:05.75\00:17:09.02 and this lasted for a number of years 00:17:09.06\00:17:11.49 but then in 2002 what happened? 00:17:11.53\00:17:13.29 Hmmm... ultimately, I was arrested, 00:17:13.33\00:17:17.07 the DEA along with Central Michigan Enforcement Team 00:17:17.10\00:17:20.14 and lonia County Sheriff's office, 00:17:20.17\00:17:22.00 and State Police, arrested me. 00:17:22.04\00:17:25.14 And you were not only dealing... you started... 00:17:25.17\00:17:29.68 you were addicted and even doing some other crime, 00:17:29.74\00:17:34.22 robbery and... 00:17:34.25\00:17:35.68 Yes, absolutely, 00:17:35.72\00:17:37.05 it never stopped with the Marijuana, 00:17:37.09\00:17:39.12 Marijuana graduated into Ecstasy, 00:17:39.15\00:17:41.12 from Ecstasy... Cocaine... 00:17:41.16\00:17:42.49 from Cocaine came Shrooms and pharmaceuticals 00:17:42.52\00:17:44.29 and by the time that I was arrested, 00:17:44.33\00:17:47.03 I was an extremely bad addict. 00:17:47.10\00:17:49.06 And so, when you were arrested, 00:17:49.10\00:17:51.00 you were first in jail and then prison, 00:17:51.03\00:17:53.40 there's a difference... and what happened to you in there 00:17:53.44\00:17:58.37 when you saw what you saw in the prison? 00:17:58.41\00:18:00.91 Well, I'll back up a little bit, I... 00:18:00.94\00:18:03.38 for years I had been using drugs, 00:18:03.41\00:18:05.78 and in using drugs, I'd done a lot of bad things 00:18:05.81\00:18:09.18 including robbing my own parents 00:18:09.22\00:18:10.99 and by 2005, my addiction was so bad 00:18:11.02\00:18:13.89 that I was shooting up Panthenol Patches 00:18:13.96\00:18:16.76 mixed with Crack Cocaine 00:18:16.83\00:18:18.36 and my doctor's office cut me off with my pain patches 00:18:18.39\00:18:21.73 which then led me to breaking into homes 00:18:21.76\00:18:24.57 which then led to a seven-year prison term. 00:18:24.63\00:18:27.40 And so, what happened in prison? 00:18:27.44\00:18:29.64 It was when I got to prison, I started looking around me 00:18:29.67\00:18:33.41 then I realized who I had become. 00:18:33.44\00:18:35.31 I could look around and I could see these individuals 00:18:35.34\00:18:38.21 that had been in prison for ten, twenty years... 00:18:38.25\00:18:40.78 some were doing life on the installment plan, 00:18:40.82\00:18:43.12 coming back and forth every couple of years 00:18:43.15\00:18:45.39 and I could see that if something didn't change... 00:18:45.42\00:18:48.16 and change drastically, that was going to be me. 00:18:48.19\00:18:50.89 And so, did people visit you 00:18:50.93\00:18:53.80 and bring you Bibles and material 00:18:53.83\00:18:55.80 to support you... what happened? 00:18:55.83\00:18:57.77 No... ha... ha... ha... ha... no they did not 00:18:57.80\00:19:01.67 and for the first few months, it was just myself, 00:19:01.70\00:19:05.54 my parents used tough love, 00:19:05.57\00:19:06.91 they knew that if they didn't create an absence of... 00:19:06.94\00:19:11.18 of attention, I was just going to continue 00:19:11.21\00:19:15.45 down the path that I had been 00:19:15.48\00:19:16.82 so, by the time that I got to prison, 00:19:16.85\00:19:18.49 I had not had the family relationship that I was used to, 00:19:18.52\00:19:21.82 I had nobody to rely on and I was left with the fact 00:19:21.86\00:19:25.49 that if something didn't change, 00:19:25.56\00:19:27.46 my life was going to be totaled... 00:19:27.50\00:19:29.40 it was going to be drastic so... 00:19:29.43\00:19:31.13 So, when you experienced this, you saw that God was able to 00:19:31.17\00:19:38.71 reach you and that you did have value, 00:19:38.74\00:19:41.84 that He was still... 00:19:41.88\00:19:43.48 even though your family had lost connection with you 00:19:43.51\00:19:46.82 and even pastors who you wrote to... didn't respond... 00:19:46.85\00:19:50.12 but you still felt connected with God. 00:19:50.15\00:19:53.52 Well, that's true, as I looked around I realized 00:19:53.56\00:20:00.10 that my only option was God, 00:20:00.13\00:20:03.67 I'd been raised a Seventh-day Adventist, 00:20:03.70\00:20:06.17 I knew that Jesus Christ was my only option 00:20:06.20\00:20:08.50 and so the day came... 00:20:08.54\00:20:09.87 after 16 days of silence in myself, 00:20:09.90\00:20:12.24 that I finally gave up 00:20:12.27\00:20:13.61 and I didn't really know how to pray anymore, 00:20:13.64\00:20:15.84 it had been so long since I talked to God 00:20:15.88\00:20:17.95 but that night I got on my knees and I... 00:20:17.98\00:20:19.91 and I started asking God for forgiveness 00:20:19.95\00:20:21.85 for everything that I had ever done 00:20:21.88\00:20:23.22 and I was very specific and so as I'm confessing my sins, 00:20:23.25\00:20:27.12 tears started falling down my face 00:20:27.16\00:20:28.66 and I cried and I poured my heart out to God 00:20:28.69\00:20:31.19 and after a couple of hours of praying 00:20:31.23\00:20:33.43 and crying my heart out to God, 00:20:33.46\00:20:34.90 I got up and I laid on my bunk 00:20:34.93\00:20:36.30 and as I laid on my bunk, 00:20:36.33\00:20:37.67 and I've told this story before, 00:20:37.70\00:20:39.03 I swear I felt the weight of my sin rise off of my body 00:20:39.07\00:20:42.77 and it was then that I knew that I'd been forgiven 00:20:42.80\00:20:45.54 and it was that sense of hope... 00:20:45.57\00:20:48.84 of knowing that God loved me that I was cared for, 00:20:48.88\00:20:51.28 then I knew that no matter what happened beyond that point, 00:20:51.31\00:20:54.05 God was going to take care of me... that He loved me. 00:20:54.12\00:20:58.62 And so your past doesn't dictate... 00:20:58.65\00:21:01.69 you have a saying, 00:21:01.72\00:21:03.63 "Your past doesn't dictate your future... " 00:21:03.66\00:21:06.49 and so you felt free at that time 00:21:06.53\00:21:08.76 and that without Christ, there is certain destruction. 00:21:08.80\00:21:13.17 Oh, absolutely... so, once I was forgiven, 00:21:13.20\00:21:16.44 I didn't know what was in store 00:21:16.47\00:21:17.87 but I knew that my life was going to be different 00:21:17.91\00:21:20.81 so as the devil tempted and as these choices came, 00:21:20.84\00:21:23.75 I decided to turn my life over to God 00:21:23.78\00:21:25.65 and it happened one decision at a time 00:21:25.68\00:21:27.52 and over the next couple of years 00:21:27.58\00:21:29.75 and as I grew into God, my father had sent me a Bible 00:21:29.78\00:21:32.29 and the "Conflict of Ages Set" 00:21:32.32\00:21:33.79 and I began studying and the next thing you know... 00:21:33.82\00:21:35.16 I'm sharing in prison 00:21:35.19\00:21:36.52 and the next thing after that is... 00:21:36.56\00:21:38.19 I'm having Bible Studies in prison, from prison to prison, 00:21:38.23\00:21:41.30 I transferred 13 times over seven years, 00:21:41.33\00:21:43.37 but I watched as God took my heart and changed it 00:21:43.40\00:21:46.74 from a heart of stone to a heart of flesh 00:21:46.77\00:21:48.47 and I began looking at my fellow prisoners 00:21:48.50\00:21:50.17 not as convicts but as people 00:21:50.21\00:21:52.74 that needed the same freedom that I had. 00:21:52.77\00:21:54.84 So when you got out of prison, 00:21:54.88\00:21:57.01 you started a ministry, what's that called? 00:21:57.05\00:21:58.91 The Ministry is called, "Conviction Ministries. " 00:21:58.95\00:22:01.05 We have to move right along... and so the... 00:22:01.08\00:22:03.75 it's basically based on freedom from sin, 00:22:03.79\00:22:06.39 it's not just prison... 00:22:06.42\00:22:08.56 going and ministering to prisoners, 00:22:08.59\00:22:10.46 it's freeing them from sin. 00:22:10.49\00:22:12.23 Correct, my ministry is dedicated 00:22:12.26\00:22:14.93 to offering individuals the same hope that God gave me. 00:22:14.96\00:22:17.97 And so, when you got out of prison, 00:22:18.00\00:22:20.74 you connected with your community, 00:22:20.77\00:22:22.14 and who were some of the people you went in... connected with? 00:22:22.17\00:22:25.77 Well, most recently the Chief of Police in the town, 00:22:25.84\00:22:27.98 the very Officer who used to pursue me 00:22:28.01\00:22:29.71 and did his best to arrest me 00:22:29.74\00:22:31.98 is now the one handing out my book. 00:22:32.01\00:22:33.82 He's actually sharing my testimony 00:22:33.88\00:22:35.65 and helping others in my community 00:22:35.68\00:22:37.49 understand that with Jesus Christ, 00:22:37.52\00:22:39.35 freedom from sin is a reality. 00:22:39.42\00:22:41.06 And what's the name of your book? 00:22:41.09\00:22:42.56 It's called, "Where Darkness Reigned. " 00:22:42.59\00:22:44.49 And you feel that you can restore 00:22:44.53\00:22:47.60 and you were able to heal things 00:22:47.63\00:22:50.70 and correct things that you had broken. 00:22:50.73\00:22:52.80 Absolutely. 00:22:52.83\00:22:54.17 And so, tell us a little bit about 00:22:54.20\00:22:56.37 how people can become involved 00:22:56.40\00:22:58.77 and to avoid that 90 percent return to prison 00:22:58.84\00:23:04.41 and you can help them avoid that. 00:23:04.45\00:23:07.45 One of the biggest problems that I faced 00:23:07.48\00:23:09.45 upon getting out of prison was... 00:23:09.48\00:23:10.89 finding individuals that understood 00:23:10.95\00:23:12.62 that just because you were a prisoner, 00:23:12.65\00:23:14.29 you were a drug addict or you were addicted to something 00:23:14.32\00:23:16.79 doesn't mean that you don't have value, 00:23:16.83\00:23:18.26 with Christ Jesus, we are reborn, 00:23:18.29\00:23:20.63 we become new creations, we are a new creature 00:23:20.66\00:23:23.67 and I... Conviction Ministries is dedicated 00:23:23.70\00:23:26.63 to making that a reality in other people's lives 00:23:26.67\00:23:29.20 and so if individuals want to become part of that experience, 00:23:29.24\00:23:32.37 give me a phone call. 00:23:32.41\00:23:33.74 If you have a son or daughter that's addicted 00:23:33.78\00:23:35.21 or you know somebody that's struggling, 00:23:35.24\00:23:37.05 give me a phone call, I'd be more than happy to help. 00:23:37.08\00:23:39.15 So oftentimes in church we sit there 00:23:39.18\00:23:41.45 and act like everything's okay but there may be someone here, 00:23:41.48\00:23:45.22 there may be someone in your church, 00:23:45.25\00:23:47.09 who is suffering or has somebody who's at risk, 00:23:47.16\00:23:51.09 addicted to drugs... other things... 00:23:51.13\00:23:54.06 committing crime, they may be in prison 00:23:54.10\00:23:56.93 but the church pretends that there's really not a problem 00:23:56.97\00:24:01.14 so if you know of somebody like that or someone in your family, 00:24:01.17\00:24:05.24 contact Greg at his ministry, Conviction Ministries 00:24:05.27\00:24:12.18 and he will help reach out to these people 00:24:12.21\00:24:14.75 and give them the hope that they need. 00:24:14.78\00:24:17.32 Greg: Amen... thank you. 00:24:17.35\00:24:20.96 My name is Floyd Courtney and I have the privilege 00:24:20.99\00:24:25.06 of interviewing two very interesting ministries 00:24:25.09\00:24:29.03 the first one is... Dale Mole, 00:24:29.06\00:24:32.00 he's a Physician and Dale, 00:24:32.03\00:24:34.90 you told me a little bit about your beginning of your career 00:24:34.94\00:24:38.87 and it was an interesting way, it seemed like to me 00:24:38.91\00:24:40.98 that the Lord was preparing you for this part of your career, 00:24:41.01\00:24:43.98 tell me a little bit about it. 00:24:44.05\00:24:45.81 Yes, well I was a Physician in the United States Navy 00:24:45.85\00:24:49.42 for over 33 years and served part of that time 00:24:49.45\00:24:55.09 aboard submarines 00:24:55.12\00:24:56.46 and have been stationed around the world in many countries 00:24:56.49\00:24:59.43 including spending time in Iraq and Afghanistan 00:24:59.46\00:25:03.57 so... and the South Pole and so 00:25:03.60\00:25:08.80 I had a pretty good idea of what it was like 00:25:08.84\00:25:11.57 to try and provide good medical care in bad places 00:25:11.61\00:25:15.68 and when the opportunity came up to go to Nepal, 00:25:15.71\00:25:19.71 I thought this might be an opportunity to apply the skills 00:25:19.75\00:25:23.95 that I had acquired over the course of a lifetime 00:25:23.99\00:25:27.19 to do the Lord's work. 00:25:27.26\00:25:28.72 All right, so, what was the transition... 00:25:28.76\00:25:31.33 how did you segue over from being a Physician in the Navy 00:25:31.36\00:25:35.30 to getting to Nepal you said was... is where you have 00:25:35.33\00:25:39.23 done your ministry lately. 00:25:39.27\00:25:41.17 Right, well, when I retired from the Navy, 00:25:41.20\00:25:44.44 I served in the South Pole for a year 00:25:44.47\00:25:46.78 at Amunden-Scott South Pole Station, 00:25:46.81\00:25:49.04 I was... for that year... 00:25:49.11\00:25:51.15 I was the Southern-most Adventist in the world 00:25:51.18\00:25:55.95 but when I came back, I was in church one day 00:25:55.98\00:26:00.72 and Lowell Cooper, who many in the audience know I'm sure, 00:26:00.76\00:26:04.99 came up to me in church and said, 00:26:05.03\00:26:06.96 "Dale, I know you retired from the Navy, what are you doing?" 00:26:07.00\00:26:09.36 I said, "Well, I don't have to rent my time anymore, 00:26:09.40\00:26:13.57 I've reached that stage in my life 00:26:13.60\00:26:15.04 and I'm looking around for something interesting to do" 00:26:15.07\00:26:18.51 and several months later, 00:26:18.54\00:26:21.54 my wife, Susan, and I... find ourselves in Nepal. 00:26:21.58\00:26:24.75 Okay, tell us about that, 00:26:24.78\00:26:26.15 something interesting that you found to do for the Lord now. 00:26:26.21\00:26:28.52 Yeah, well, I tell you, 00:26:28.55\00:26:30.49 when we first stepped off the plane, 00:26:30.52\00:26:32.05 we actually... I don't know what my wife's reaction was 00:26:32.09\00:26:35.26 but I almost felt like getting back on the plane 00:26:35.29\00:26:37.59 and heading home, but I got to tell you 00:26:37.63\00:26:39.76 the first week I was there, I probably saw more miracles 00:26:39.79\00:26:43.87 performed than in the previous decade in the United States, 00:26:43.90\00:26:47.94 the... just... one quick story if I could, 00:26:47.97\00:26:53.41 there was a little ten-year old boy 00:26:53.44\00:26:57.11 who had untreated Typhoid fever 00:26:57.15\00:26:59.68 and he came into our Emergency Department 00:26:59.71\00:27:02.52 on the verge of death, 00:27:02.55\00:27:03.89 he was in what we call, "Septic Shock" 00:27:03.92\00:27:06.09 and we took him to the operating room 00:27:06.12\00:27:08.36 and performed surgery, 00:27:08.39\00:27:11.89 he had a hole in his bowel that we closed 00:27:11.93\00:27:14.26 and then he went to our Intensive Care Unit 00:27:14.30\00:27:16.56 which is where I first saw him, 00:27:16.60\00:27:17.93 he... he was on the verge of death... 00:27:17.97\00:27:23.20 he was just... 00:27:23.24\00:27:25.44 his Septic Shock state has an 80 percent mortality rate, 00:27:25.47\00:27:29.34 he then developed a condition that we call "Adult... " 00:27:29.38\00:27:32.68 not adult but "Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome" 00:27:32.71\00:27:36.02 which also has a very high mortality rate, 00:27:36.05\00:27:38.39 so this ten-year old Nepali boy, 00:27:38.42\00:27:41.36 I thought was not going to survive the night 00:27:41.39\00:27:44.63 and we prayed... the family was there crying... 00:27:44.69\00:27:47.86 you know, we told them it was in the Lord's hands, 00:27:47.93\00:27:51.00 I came in the next morning 00:27:51.03\00:27:54.20 and not only was he still alive but he was doing better, 00:27:54.24\00:27:57.84 that afternoon he was off the ventilator, 00:27:57.87\00:28:00.88 two days later, he was sitting up smiling 00:28:00.91\00:28:03.85 in our Pediatric Ward. 00:28:03.88\00:28:05.21 Interviewer: Wow! praise the Lord. 00:28:05.25\00:28:06.58 That is why, I went to Nepal and that's why I'm staying in Nepal. 00:28:06.61\00:28:10.75 Tell us a little bit about... on the news we heard about 00:28:10.79\00:28:13.62 earthquakes in Nepal, 00:28:13.66\00:28:15.69 how has that impacted the hospital and your work there? 00:28:15.72\00:28:19.56 Well, initially, we had nine patients that arrived... 00:28:19.59\00:28:23.37 they were dead on arrival... 00:28:23.40\00:28:24.73 but we treated over a 1,000 earthquake victims 00:28:24.77\00:28:27.47 and all the patients that arrived there remained alive, 00:28:27.50\00:28:31.37 and if I had more time I could tell you, 00:28:31.41\00:28:34.54 a number of stories about true miracles 00:28:34.58\00:28:38.31 that occurred during that time period 00:28:38.38\00:28:40.35 but the earthquake itself 00:28:40.38\00:28:41.95 was a real tragedy for the Country of Nepal, 00:28:41.98\00:28:44.99 it set it back probably about a decade, 00:28:45.02\00:28:46.76 but it has also provided a real opportunity for the Lord's work 00:28:46.82\00:28:51.13 many medical facilities were destroyed 00:28:51.16\00:28:53.96 so I think it is an opportunity to expand Adventist Healthcare 00:28:54.00\00:28:58.07 in Nepal... many schools were destroyed 00:28:58.10\00:29:00.77 I think it's an opportunity to expand Adventist education 00:29:00.84\00:29:04.91 in Nepal and we have had some great partners here 00:29:04.97\00:29:10.25 in the world church, especially Asian Aid USA, 00:29:10.28\00:29:15.48 Three Angels Broadcasting has really helped us raise money 00:29:15.52\00:29:20.36 that is badly needed for the hospital 00:29:20.39\00:29:22.69 not only just from an earthquake standpoint but also 00:29:22.72\00:29:26.16 just in the replacing of aging equipment and facilities. 00:29:26.19\00:29:28.83 Okay Brother, in the last little bit of time we have 00:29:28.86\00:29:31.50 tell us what is witnessing like, 00:29:31.53\00:29:33.20 I understand that there are laws 00:29:33.23\00:29:34.87 that are making it more difficult there 00:29:34.90\00:29:36.84 versus the United States and other places. 00:29:36.91\00:29:38.81 Yeah it is, you can be put in prison 00:29:38.84\00:29:41.68 for proselytization 00:29:41.71\00:29:43.45 so ours is certainly a work of ministry 00:29:43.48\00:29:46.21 not a work... a... oh... I grew up in Asia and I go yearly for ASAP 00:46:14.07\00:46:21.04 but this night... the night we went to this 00:46:21.08\00:46:23.38 one town in Laos, a strange sensation came over, 00:46:23.41\00:46:27.65 I felt like my chest... I couldn't breathe 00:46:27.68\00:46:30.59 and my body was shaking and I was like, 00:46:30.62\00:46:33.46 "What happened, did I get food poisoned or... " 00:46:33.49\00:46:35.92 you know, it really scared me 00:46:35.96\00:46:37.79 and so I just prayed and I claimed Scripture 00:46:37.83\00:46:41.00 and I confessed any known and unknown sin, 00:46:41.03\00:46:43.33 I didn't want any stronghold in my life 00:46:43.37\00:46:45.47 and I said, "Lord, what is going on here?" 00:46:45.50\00:46:47.30 And this happened for hours and then I opened the Word 00:46:47.34\00:46:51.24 and I came to this story of a demon and I said, 00:46:51.27\00:46:54.68 "Oh, I know what... we're on Satan's territory 00:46:54.71\00:46:57.95 and we're wrestling against not flesh and blood 00:46:57.98\00:47:01.75 but against... yeah... the powers of darkness" 00:47:01.78\00:47:05.55 and so I woke my husband up and I said, 00:47:05.59\00:47:08.72 "AJ, we need to really pray... 00:47:08.76\00:47:10.63 God has something for us to do here... 00:47:10.66\00:47:12.66 tomorrow morning... and we need God's power" 00:47:12.69\00:47:16.46 so I prayed... and he prayed for me 00:47:16.50\00:47:19.37 and then I said, "Lord, I sense your presence... 00:47:19.43\00:47:21.80 but I know your Word says, 00:47:21.84\00:47:24.41 'He who is in me is greater than he who is in the world' 00:47:24.47\00:47:26.94 and I'm going to go to sleep in faith" 00:47:26.98\00:47:29.81 and praise God, I was finally able to sleep 00:47:29.84\00:47:33.05 and we woke up in the morning 00:47:33.08\00:47:34.42 and we were able to accomplish the mission 00:47:34.45\00:47:36.25 He sent us there for... 00:47:36.28\00:47:37.95 and this helped me realize that ASAP National Missionaries 00:47:38.02\00:47:42.29 go through this every day, they are battling 00:47:42.32\00:47:45.26 and they are winning thousands of souls for God 00:47:45.29\00:47:47.93 and we need many, many more of these laborers, 00:47:47.96\00:47:50.57 and it's not easy out there at all. 00:47:50.60\00:47:53.34 Amen... so Kaila, tell me a little bit about 00:47:53.37\00:47:56.57 what was one of your experiences while you were there. 00:47:56.60\00:47:59.47 Well, when we went to the villages, 00:47:59.51\00:48:02.21 I would smile at kids and I would 00:48:02.24\00:48:04.88 jump right in with them and play their games 00:48:04.91\00:48:08.62 and I learned that you don't need a language 00:48:08.65\00:48:11.29 in order to make friends for life. 00:48:11.32\00:48:13.96 Also, in one little village, I met this little boy 00:48:13.99\00:48:18.63 and he has Ptosis... which is an eye disease 00:48:18.66\00:48:25.07 that makes your eyelid droopy 00:48:25.10\00:48:27.70 and my heart went out to him because when I was his age, 00:48:27.74\00:48:31.47 I had the same disease, 00:48:31.51\00:48:33.31 so I told the parents that when he was old enough 00:48:33.34\00:48:37.25 I would get enough funds so that he would be able to have 00:48:37.28\00:48:42.55 the same surgery... and they were so happy 00:48:42.58\00:48:51.99 that it made me want to jump for joy. 00:48:52.03\00:48:54.23 You know, you have the opportunity 00:48:54.26\00:48:56.40 to help with that project, 00:48:56.43\00:48:57.77 they have a new ASAP Project called "Operation New Vision" 00:48:57.80\00:49:02.54 so if you want to help her with that goal 00:49:02.57\00:49:04.44 to help that young boy you can certainly do that. 00:49:04.47\00:49:07.41 Julia, tell me one more story 00:49:07.48\00:49:09.48 from your experience there this last trip. 00:49:09.51\00:49:12.85 I was so glad that I was able to go and worship 00:49:12.88\00:49:16.02 with the believers in this new little church 00:49:16.05\00:49:18.85 it's actually... they are worshipping in a house 00:49:18.89\00:49:21.86 and the next morning after that strange incident, 00:49:21.89\00:49:24.86 we went and they showed us land 00:49:24.89\00:49:27.13 and this house that they wanted to buy 00:49:27.16\00:49:31.23 and praise God... Ivan... 00:56:33.19\00:56:35.42 a little bit about an experience you're having 00:56:35.46\00:56:37.76 right now that's from the City Mission. 00:56:37.79\00:56:40.46 Sure, absolutely, well, this is a little interesting, 00:56:40.50\00:56:42.90 there was somebody from India 00:56:42.93\00:56:44.27 who wanted to provide some services 00:56:44.30\00:56:46.27 for Heidi's Health Kitchen 00:56:46.30\00:56:47.64 and we said, "We're not at that moment yet" 00:56:47.67\00:56:51.37 and... but we told them 00:56:51.44\00:56:53.48 that we are basing our ministry and business 00:56:53.54\00:56:56.58 from a book written by a lady named Ellen White 00:56:56.61\00:56:59.61 and he asked about the name of the book, 00:56:59.65\00:57:02.38 I said, "there's a compilation called "The Restaurant Work" 00:57:02.42\00:57:05.32 and they're using that as a textbook for their whole venture 00:57:05.35\00:57:08.22 and then he started reading that book 00:57:08.29\00:57:09.96 and later on he read some other book which told him that 00:57:09.99\00:57:14.13 Ellen White was part of some kind of a secret society 00:57:14.16\00:57:17.80 and things like that 00:57:17.83\00:57:19.17 and then he thought I was also a part of secret societies 00:57:19.20\00:57:21.34 and he thought I was Jesuit... he said... 00:57:21.37\00:57:23.07 and then, anyway, so... 00:57:23.10\00:57:25.77 so later on as he did some more research, 00:57:25.84\00:57:28.18 he found out that Ellen White's writings were as per the Bible, 00:57:28.21\00:57:32.41 she had never deviated from the Bible, 00:57:32.45\00:57:33.78 so... and then he said that 00:57:33.82\00:57:35.38 "You know I did the research and I found out... " 00:57:35.42\00:57:37.95 and then so I took that as an opportunity 00:57:37.99\00:57:40.29 to pitch for some Bible Studies so I asked, 00:57:40.32\00:57:42.52 "Would you be interested to study the Bible with me?" 00:57:42.56\00:57:44.29 and then, since then we've been studying 00:57:44.33\00:57:46.29 using Mark Finley's Bible... "Search for Certainty" lessons 00:57:46.33\00:57:51.23 so I study with him on the phone every week. 00:57:51.27\00:57:55.17 So, did you hear that? 00:57:55.20\00:57:56.54 They're doing Bible Studies from their City Mission in New York 00:57:56.57\00:57:59.91 and India by the phone. 00:57:59.97\00:58:02.21 Can somebody say, "Amen.
