Well welcome. We're so happy that you could join us. 00:00:38.35\00:00:41.20 And this afternoon's program is going to be very special. 00:00:41.40\00:00:45.16 We've got a 30-minute program here. 00:00:45.19\00:00:46.98 It's going to be real tight, but we have some special guests 00:00:47.18\00:00:51.25 to introduce and we also want to talk a little bit about 00:00:51.35\00:00:54.84 our country and how much we love this country. 00:00:55.04\00:00:58.60 Yesterday we celebrated the 70th anniversary since D-Day. 00:00:59.00\00:01:04.19 And there were 23,000 Americans that died on that beach. 00:01:04.43\00:01:09.33 I tell you, when you go over to France and you go down 00:01:09.83\00:01:13.00 near Normandy you find those French people there 00:01:13.20\00:01:17.31 still appreciate what America has done there. 00:01:17.52\00:01:22.58 8,000 are still there; 15,000 were brought home 00:01:22.88\00:01:26.42 and re-buried here. 00:01:26.82\00:01:28.67 But this, my friend, is a nation where people have given their 00:01:28.97\00:01:31.98 lives for freedom. The nation has been formed 00:01:32.18\00:01:35.80 one nation under God, indivisible, 00:01:35.90\00:01:38.41 and it is a nation of one. 00:01:38.71\00:01:42.03 Recently a friend of ours, Dr. Ben Carson, wrote a book 00:01:42.33\00:01:46.25 called One Nation. And Danny Shelton has written 00:01:46.45\00:01:50.36 a song that is called We Are One... America, We Are One. 00:01:50.57\00:01:55.28 America, We Are One. And we're going to be singing 00:01:55.58\00:01:58.10 that in a little bit with our choir and with Yvonne Lewis. 00:01:58.20\00:02:01.36 But you see, America is one. 00:02:01.86\00:02:04.24 We want to be one with the world; we want to be one 00:02:04.44\00:02:06.98 with God; we want to be one with each other. 00:02:07.08\00:02:09.71 We want to be one in purpose because I believe with all of my 00:02:09.91\00:02:13.73 heart that this country was brought into being 00:02:13.83\00:02:16.53 by divine inspiration. I've been reading recently 00:02:16.73\00:02:19.32 a couple of history books. A friend of mine, Francis Frost, 00:02:19.62\00:02:23.62 has sent me one that I'm just finishing. 00:02:23.72\00:02:26.21 And in that book you will see how our forefathers 00:02:26.51\00:02:31.00 constantly called upon the Almighty God 00:02:31.30\00:02:34.93 to be with them and how they saw miracle after miracle take place 00:02:35.23\00:02:39.37 that brought the freedom that we have. 00:02:39.57\00:02:41.72 When George Washington was sworn in 00:02:42.12\00:02:44.71 and George Washington made so many statements about 00:02:44.91\00:02:48.07 seeing the divine hand of God 00:02:48.27\00:02:50.56 moving in the battle that took place that brought about our 00:02:50.76\00:02:55.86 freedom. When George Washington was sworn in as president 00:02:56.07\00:02:59.45 when he finished the oath of office 00:02:59.66\00:03:03.76 he added the words "so help me God. " 00:03:03.96\00:03:08.48 Every president since then has used those words: 00:03:08.78\00:03:12.86 "so help me God. " 00:03:13.06\00:03:14.50 And then George Washington did something that people may not 00:03:14.80\00:03:18.55 realize: he bent over 00:03:18.65\00:03:21.64 and kissed this open Bible. 00:03:21.84\00:03:24.91 He kissed God's holy Word. 00:03:25.21\00:03:28.49 This nation has been used to spread the gospel 00:03:28.79\00:03:31.45 around the world. This nation has been used to keep freedom 00:03:31.55\00:03:35.77 so the doors could be open so that more people 00:03:35.97\00:03:39.98 could spread the gospel around the world. 00:03:40.18\00:03:42.25 And from this nation we see the gospel going 00:03:42.55\00:03:46.31 to every nation, kindred, tongue, and people. 00:03:46.61\00:03:51.88 We know that there have been a lot of problems 00:03:52.18\00:03:55.65 in our country the last few years. 00:03:55.85\00:03:57.56 We are not politically involved. I'm not a Republican; 00:03:57.86\00:04:01.45 I'm not a Democrat; I'm not even an Independent 00:04:01.65\00:04:04.27 and neither is Danny. We are patriots who love this country, 00:04:04.78\00:04:08.96 who love our Lord, who want to be part of 00:04:09.26\00:04:12.78 a conscience that says: "This is the way, walk ye in it. " 00:04:12.88\00:04:17.66 "This is the way: follow God. " 00:04:17.97\00:04:20.40 That is our calling, and not in any way to be political. 00:04:20.70\00:04:25.03 But Danny, you've got some patriots with you. 00:04:25.13\00:04:27.26 And if you want to be a Democrat, you want to be 00:04:27.36\00:04:28.79 a Republican, you want to be Independent: that's the beauty 00:04:28.89\00:04:31.39 of this nation. You can be that, right? That's it. We're still 00:04:31.49\00:04:33.72 all one and diversity is all right. Yeah, I'm going to ask 00:04:33.82\00:04:36.74 my friends Dennis "Dink" Broy to come up. 00:04:36.95\00:04:39.16 Vernon "Rocky" Morris. 00:04:39.36\00:04:40.88 Mike "Butch" Gunter. I almost forget their real names 00:04:40.91\00:04:44.79 'cause for years it's Butch and Rocky and Dink. 00:04:45.10\00:04:48.12 And I told the folks earlier: don't ask me why they called him 00:04:48.36\00:04:51.36 Dink as big as he is. But Rocky said that he gave... 00:04:51.47\00:04:55.73 Dink said Rocky gave you that name, right? 00:04:55.93\00:04:57.72 You guys were all Vietnam veterans, right? That's correct. 00:04:58.32\00:05:01.99 Now you were in the? I was in the United States Army. 00:05:03.69\00:05:06.79 United States Army. OK. 00:05:07.19\00:05:08.92 Now did you? You are here for a purpose. I asked you 00:05:09.32\00:05:12.86 the other day would you come. And I said: "Would you come? " 00:05:13.06\00:05:15.55 And he said: "I'll come for a reason. " 00:05:15.75\00:05:17.07 What was that? The reason I'm here is so I can stand here 00:05:17.27\00:05:20.36 and represent all of our fallen soldiers 00:05:20.56\00:05:23.08 that did not make it home. 00:05:23.28\00:05:25.15 They are the true American heroes and... 00:05:25.45\00:05:28.18 we can never forget them and we can never forget their 00:05:31.99\00:05:36.39 families also that suffered. 00:05:36.49\00:05:38.08 And that's the main reason I'm here today. 00:05:38.28\00:05:40.86 All right, great. Rocky, come over here just a second. 00:05:41.17\00:05:42.93 All right. We go back a long time as I mentioned before. 00:05:43.43\00:05:45.57 We all of us have played a lot of softball together 00:05:45.77\00:05:48.20 and fast pitch. Of course, Dink played with the Cardinals 00:05:48.40\00:05:50.05 for a while, so he had to leave us here and go up there. 00:05:50.15\00:05:53.23 And Butchgunter over here... we all played together. 00:05:53.43\00:05:55.65 Kenny... brother Kenny... you come. Kenny is a veteran too. 00:05:55.85\00:05:57.82 He served also his two years. 00:05:58.02\00:06:00.13 Come here for a second 'cause we're all friends. 00:06:00.33\00:06:02.21 This is not the time to be bashful, right? 00:06:02.42\00:06:04.34 Let's go. But Rocky, how many of the soldiers 00:06:04.64\00:06:08.63 the little town in this area, West Frankfort area, 00:06:08.83\00:06:11.71 how many of the soldiers that went over about the same time 00:06:11.91\00:06:14.95 you guys did how many came back in caskets? 00:06:15.05\00:06:17.96 I think somewhere in the vicinity between 9 or 12 00:06:18.10\00:06:21.64 that had passed. Our county took a big hit. 00:06:21.94\00:06:24.16 Dink and I were discussing the other day about 00:06:24.57\00:06:27.20 a guy that was raised with us 00:06:27.51\00:06:30.20 and within a six- or seven-block radius 00:06:30.41\00:06:33.05 there was almost 13 to 15 young men - 00:06:33.25\00:06:37.56 17, 18-year-olds - that served the country. 00:06:37.76\00:06:40.86 And that was just within like I said a 4- to 5-block radius. 00:06:41.06\00:06:44.45 And a few of them didn't come back, you know. 00:06:44.75\00:06:47.00 And we always... that's what we do: remember those who've fallen 00:06:47.40\00:06:51.07 who gave it all. They paid the price. 00:06:51.37\00:06:53.57 They counted the cost, you know. And that's what amazes me 00:06:53.77\00:06:57.92 about America - um-hmm - is you have men and women 00:06:58.12\00:07:01.37 across this country that will step up 00:07:01.57\00:07:04.88 in that time and defend and fight for that freedom. 00:07:05.28\00:07:08.80 All right. Thank you, Rocky. God bless. 00:07:08.99\00:07:11.67 Butch, why don't you come up? Kenny? 00:07:11.87\00:07:14.73 These two guys: best friends growing up 00:07:15.13\00:07:17.97 were neighbors. They lived about a half a block away 00:07:18.18\00:07:19.98 from all the Gunters here, and Mike had a number of sisters 00:07:20.28\00:07:23.72 too... and has a number of sisters I should say. 00:07:23.82\00:07:26.95 But Kenny and Mike were best friends and they used to... 00:07:27.15\00:07:29.52 John Hawkins and me, a friend of mine, we were a little 00:07:29.72\00:07:32.04 younger than them, but they would take us out every chance 00:07:32.14\00:07:34.30 they got and they would beat us in softball or just beat us up 00:07:34.40\00:07:37.41 wrestling, whatever they did, but I know we never won 00:07:37.51\00:07:40.88 and I don't know what it was. And then when we got older 00:07:41.19\00:07:43.44 they didn't want to play any more. 00:07:43.64\00:07:45.09 So I don't know what happened with that. 00:07:45.29\00:07:47.04 Butch, thank you for what you have done and... 00:07:48.10\00:07:50.83 Thank you; I appreciate that. 00:07:51.06\00:07:52.44 I appreciate that. You're active? No, no... 00:07:52.64\00:07:55.58 No, no, I'm active in a lot of things but no longer in the 00:07:55.78\00:07:57.95 military. I know that, but I mean you're very active... 00:07:58.06\00:08:00.48 Yeah, in the veteran community... in the veteran 00:08:00.68\00:08:02.75 community I'm very active. I've done that since I retired 00:08:02.85\00:08:06.33 about 11 years ago. As you know, I served in the Marine Corps. 00:08:06.43\00:08:09.44 You were asking Rocky some numbers while ago. 00:08:09.84\00:08:12.54 From Franklin County south river to river here in southern 00:08:12.94\00:08:15.65 Illinois - which is really the heart of America - 00:08:15.75\00:08:18.20 there were 83 young men that lost their lives. Wow! 00:08:18.40\00:08:20.93 Eighty three! In addition to that, and I think Dink would 00:08:21.13\00:08:24.14 agree with this also, the families. 00:08:24.24\00:08:26.06 People understand what type of toll this takes on the families. 00:08:26.26\00:08:29.42 You know, most people here in America 00:08:29.72\00:08:31.98 at night the parents lay their head on the pillow 00:08:32.29\00:08:35.55 sometimes not knowing whether they'll speak to their son or 00:08:35.75\00:08:37.88 daughter again, and that's got to be a very sad thing. 00:08:37.98\00:08:40.71 And then our soldiers come home, our Marines 00:08:41.01\00:08:43.21 or airmen, Navy... whatever it may be... 00:08:43.31\00:08:45.72 they come home and they have these psychological wounds 00:08:46.02\00:08:48.22 that people don't think are real... but they're there. 00:08:48.42\00:08:51.15 You know, you see things that you shouldn't have seen 00:08:51.48\00:08:53.92 when you're in war. When you're in combat you see these things. 00:08:54.12\00:08:56.96 And I want to say this: there's not a one of us 00:08:57.26\00:08:59.56 standing up here and virtually every man that I served with 00:08:59.76\00:09:02.88 in Vietnam... You know, when it really got tough 00:09:02.98\00:09:05.92 sometimes it was foxhole religion. 00:09:06.12\00:09:08.41 But let me tell you something: we turned to God 00:09:08.61\00:09:10.33 because that was important. 00:09:10.53\00:09:11.85 And it is still important today. 00:09:12.91\00:09:14.52 And we appreciate you having us out and 00:09:14.72\00:09:17.02 you know, like Dennis said, it's the entire veteran community. 00:09:17.22\00:09:20.65 They need your support. 00:09:20.85\00:09:22.92 America needs your support now more than ever. 00:09:23.22\00:09:25.54 And hopefully this will play a part in that 00:09:25.94\00:09:29.19 and we appreciate what you guys are doing here at 3ABN. 00:09:29.39\00:09:31.71 God bless you, Mike. All right. Brother Kenny... 00:09:31.82\00:09:34.95 Brother Kenny was a Seventh-day Adventist. 00:09:36.33\00:09:38.87 A lot of folks say: "Well you guys don't go to battle, 00:09:39.07\00:09:41.53 do you? You don't join. " Yes you did. You were a what? 00:09:41.63\00:09:43.89 In the Army? I was a medic. You were a medic. Kenny was a medic. 00:09:44.30\00:09:47.75 So he spent two years of doctoring people 00:09:47.95\00:09:51.44 and fixing people up, right? Doing your part. 00:09:51.64\00:09:54.17 Well, by the grace of God yes, that's right. 00:09:54.27\00:09:56.21 Desmond Doss, one of the most highly decorated 00:09:56.31\00:09:58.71 men in World War 2 was a Seventh-day Adventist. 00:09:58.91\00:10:01.84 Saved what? Two hundred and some odd lives 00:10:02.04\00:10:04.79 literally. Congressional Medal of Honor. 00:10:04.99\00:10:07.86 So we appreciate each and every one of you. 00:10:08.16\00:10:10.46 If you want to go ahead back and sit down, 'cause you're 00:10:10.77\00:10:12.41 a choir member, too. And you guys want to sit - 00:10:12.51\00:10:15.20 remember? - a minute. And then I want to introduce 00:10:15.50\00:10:17.81 John Alexander. We'll make this short 00:10:17.91\00:10:19.52 'cause we've got some music to do. 00:10:19.72\00:10:21.00 But John agreed to come out here from West Frankfort... 00:10:21.30\00:10:23.83 fireman. But he and Davey Broy, Dink's brother, 00:10:24.13\00:10:26.97 came out to see me and said: "We have something we wondered 00:10:27.17\00:10:29.47 if you'd be interested in. " And it's called the what program? 00:10:29.67\00:10:32.54 It's called the Associated Firefighters of Illinois 00:10:32.74\00:10:35.05 Warrior Program. OK... and what you do is? 00:10:35.15\00:10:38.47 We give soldiers who come back from Iraq or Afghanistan 00:10:38.67\00:10:42.81 who've lost a limb and they're from the state of Illinois 00:10:43.21\00:10:47.90 we give them a vehicle that's equipped for them. 00:10:48.00\00:10:50.31 And we've given away at this point 00:10:50.51\00:10:53.95 at this point we've given away four cars just in 2013 00:10:58.20\00:11:02.77 West Frankfort native Chaz Ligon received a brand new truck. 00:11:03.07\00:11:07.19 in November and then Metropolis native Jared Bullock 00:11:07.39\00:11:11.54 will be receiving the next vehicle in September. 00:11:11.94\00:11:14.46 So that's what our program consists of. 00:11:14.66\00:11:17.54 We just give vehicles to the veterans 00:11:17.84\00:11:21.27 and it just gives them such... 00:11:21.47\00:11:24.00 It's just not giving them vehicles: giving them the peace 00:11:24.10\00:11:26.55 of mind that they do not have to worry about something 00:11:26.65\00:11:29.57 for 5, 10 years. And it's just been amazing. 00:11:29.67\00:11:34.63 And Danny's helped us already and it's just a great program. 00:11:34.83\00:11:37.95 Thank you. John came to me and Davey... 00:11:38.36\00:11:40.50 That's all right. John and Davey came to me 00:11:40.70\00:11:43.53 and so I said: "Let me talk to Jim. " 00:11:43.73\00:11:45.16 And so we talked about it. They said could we raise 00:11:45.37\00:11:47.64 $5,000... could 3ABN support us? 00:11:47.85\00:11:50.42 And I said: "We'll do it on matching funds 00:11:50.72\00:11:52.64 if you go to the banks and some of the car dealers 00:11:52.94\00:11:55.31 and other people and raise the money. " 00:11:55.51\00:11:57.13 So Jim and I both agreed: "Yes, we'll do it. " 00:11:57.44\00:11:59.47 And they came back and said: "Hey, you guys got it going 00:11:59.77\00:12:02.33 and now we have a new car. " And this young man's going to be 00:12:02.63\00:12:06.19 getting a brand new car. So thank you, John, for what 00:12:06.39\00:12:08.20 you do. Thank you. If any of you... 00:12:08.30\00:12:12.74 If you're interested in donating from around the world 00:12:13.35\00:12:17.17 I think we have an address we can put quickly on the screen. 00:12:17.37\00:12:20.12 And so there you go: 00:12:20.52\00:12:22.39 So thank you for being here. And what we want to do now 00:12:32.12\00:12:35.33 is we're going to sing a song. I want Yvonne Lewis 00:12:35.43\00:12:38.02 to come up. And Yvonne... 00:12:38.12\00:12:41.44 We just did 4,000 of these. 00:12:41.74\00:12:44.29 We've mailed out 2,500 yesterday to radio stations 00:12:44.49\00:12:47.63 of this song all across the country. 00:12:47.83\00:12:49.49 We have another 1,500 or so to do on Monday. 00:12:49.69\00:12:52.45 But I asked Yvonne to do this song. 00:12:52.65\00:12:54.94 And you know... Many of you know her background 00:12:55.15\00:12:57.12 in the musical world and the secular world. 00:12:57.32\00:13:00.56 And so Yvonne has a name; she's very highly respected. 00:13:00.76\00:13:04.29 And we thought that her - especially - name on this 00:13:04.79\00:13:07.61 showing that radios and disc jockeys would say: 00:13:07.82\00:13:10.30 "Let's give this a play... let's try it. " 00:13:10.60\00:13:12.64 But the song is America, We Are One. 00:13:12.74\00:13:14.70 And again, for the audience just joining us 00:13:15.00\00:13:17.56 if you're at home, when I hear Pledge of Allegiance I have to 00:13:17.86\00:13:21.03 put my hand over my heart. I don't know about you. 00:13:21.13\00:13:23.93 But you do... For the audience here, if you want to stand, 00:13:24.23\00:13:26.55 if you want to sit, whatever you do, that's the beauty 00:13:26.69\00:13:29.68 of America: it's free, right? If you're a veteran, 00:19:12.72\00:19:14.58 stay standing up. Let's give those folk a hand too. 00:19:14.68\00:19:17.57 Let's see how many you are. Stand up. 00:19:17.77\00:19:19.85 Quite a few of you out here. 00:19:19.95\00:19:22.57 All right. God bless. Thank you so much. 00:19:24.40\00:19:28.23 Thank you guys. You can be seated. 00:19:28.63\00:19:30.83 We're going to have a little bit of fun. We're going to keep 00:19:31.33\00:19:33.37 having fun, so I'm going to ask Terry to come up, 00:19:33.47\00:19:37.31 Reggie, maybe Gene, and do something that we've never done 00:19:37.51\00:19:40.89 together. I got a chance to hear them singing a little bit 00:19:40.99\00:19:44.07 so I kind of got involved and like humming around 00:19:44.27\00:19:47.44 hoping they'd ask me to sing a little bit with them. 00:19:47.64\00:19:49.44 And then Gene walked around and they said: "Well bring Gene in 00:19:49.84\00:19:52.80 too. " So we didn't get to all do this together, but let's 00:19:52.90\00:19:55.02 come out. And Terry, it's a song... This is a first. 00:19:55.12\00:19:57.41 It's a first, for sure. 00:19:57.71\00:19:59.18 This is a song that you... Come on up front here. 00:19:59.38\00:20:01.34 A song that you're supposed to do by yourself, and we all 00:20:01.44\00:20:03.83 kind of just voluntarily joined you. 00:20:03.93\00:20:06.52 So... They make me sound so much better. 00:20:06.83\00:20:09.39 No, no, no. All right... all right. Tell us about the song. 00:20:10.51\00:20:14.48 This is a song that was introduced by my good friend 00:20:14.78\00:20:17.71 Bill Johnson who wrote this song, and we recorded it 00:20:18.01\00:20:23.25 as the Imperials when I was with the group. 00:20:23.35\00:20:25.55 And it just so happened that we introduced it 00:20:25.85\00:20:28.53 and sang it for Evy one time a little while later. 00:20:28.73\00:20:33.08 And she recorded that very same song, and she had 00:20:33.38\00:20:36.38 a monstrous hit on it and we didn't. 00:20:36.48\00:20:39.38 But we still love this song, and I hope that you'll remember it 00:20:40.31\00:20:43.71 because it's an old, old favorite of all of ours. 00:20:43.91\00:20:47.04 It's called Give Them All To Jesus. Listen: 00:20:47.24\00:20:50.24 Are you tired of chasing pretty rainbows? 00:21:02.92\00:21:08.50 Are you tired of spinning round and round? 00:21:11.48\00:21:16.81 She knows it. 00:21:17.11\00:21:18.49 Wrap up all the shattered dreams of your life 00:21:20.28\00:21:26.24 and at the feet of Jesus 00:21:28.86\00:21:31.58 lay them down. 00:21:31.88\00:21:36.29 Give them all, give them all, 00:21:36.69\00:21:41.74 give them all to Jesus: 00:21:42.04\00:21:45.33 shattered dreams, wounded hearts, 00:21:45.73\00:21:49.17 broken toys. 00:21:49.37\00:21:53.37 Give them all, give them all, 00:21:53.77\00:21:59.33 give them all to Jesus 00:21:59.73\00:22:02.91 and He will turn your sorrow 00:22:03.11\00:22:07.18 into joy. 00:22:07.39\00:22:11.36 He never said you'd only see sunshine. 00:22:13.19\00:22:19.16 He never said there'd be no rain. 00:22:22.29\00:22:27.56 No... He only promised 00:22:27.76\00:22:33.05 a heart full of singing 00:22:33.25\00:22:36.45 about the very thing 00:22:39.03\00:22:41.50 that once brought pain. 00:22:41.70\00:22:46.49 Give them all, give them all, 00:22:46.93\00:22:52.09 give them all to Jesus 00:22:52.39\00:22:55.57 shattered dreams, wounded hearts, 00:22:55.97\00:22:59.41 broken toys. 00:22:59.71\00:23:03.65 Give them all, give them all, 00:23:04.33\00:23:09.69 give them all to Jesus 00:23:10.09\00:23:13.30 and He will turn your sorrow 00:23:13.70\00:23:17.45 into joy. If you know it, sing with us: 00:23:17.76\00:23:21.61 Give them all, give them all, 00:23:22.01\00:23:27.19 give them all to Jesus 00:23:27.69\00:23:30.72 shattered dreams, wounded hearts, 00:23:31.12\00:23:34.54 broken toys. 00:23:34.84\00:23:38.68 Give them all, give them all, 00:23:39.18\00:23:44.80 give them all to Jesus 00:23:45.20\00:23:48.37 and He will turn your sorrow 00:23:48.77\00:23:52.65 into joy... 00:23:52.85\00:23:57.52 Give them all to Jesus 00:23:59.52\00:24:02.91 and He will turn your sorrow 00:24:03.32\00:24:06.97 into joy... 00:24:07.38\00:24:11.95 He will turn your sorrow 00:24:12.45\00:24:15.86 into joy. 00:24:16.16\00:24:21.73 Yes He will.
