After the 9/11 tragedy
that struck over a decade ago

We heard about it
while we were in school.

and we said: "We

So we got in our
vans. Drove and drove

and it was amazing.
When you go to do God's work

Every block that was put there
moved as our vans with trailers

when we got there we realized

broke out the band.

We have a marching band, and
for eight hours, over 8 hours,

from fire station... You'll see

to go by and just encourage fire
station firemen who had lost

And they said: "You guys

but we had that and clothes

You guys traveled 24

are. We're just young people

We were actually in Florida

when the tragedy
struck at Sandy Hook.

And we said: "I know
we're on another mission... "

It was our Christmas mission
going to pass out literature,

but we said: "We have to make
a turn in what we are doing. "

And so we went up to Connecticut

able to go to different funerals

lost loved ones. And

During our holiday breaks
we're still also able to go to

and do literature evangelism.

We go door to door spreading

the schools are my favorite.

BUT one thing that we notice
is that even with our ministry

people - the schools - they're
closed a lot of times during

break so we are missing them.

And so eleven years
ago some students said:

"We need to change our schedule.
We can't just go during our

breaks. We want to take
a year off and just go from

school to school. Go from
neighborhood to neighborhood

for one year - God has given us
all these years of our lives -

one year... I want to
give it back to Him. "

And so we have a group called
"The Year of Dedication. "

it, but some students decide

to share with you a testimony

mission we've been on,

and it was this
past summer in Zimbabwe.

Yes. This past summer
in Zimbabwe we were there.

Even with Kristen and
myself. Um-hmm. As we were there

we gathered with the
local conference in Zimbabwe

and we went to a rural
area there called Kanimba.

While we were in this village

I saw people that
never heard about God before.

I walked for 45 minutes
to the bottom of the mountain

and there some
people were isolated.

Never heard of
whether there's a God

because they
worship their ancestors.

I saw people who
didn't even have food to eat.

One meal per day. Some
people would even skip days

before they could even eat.

And it touched my heart so much.

One day I was even eating,
and after we ate we would

throw our food in a pit
and these little children

would come and go into the
pit to take out what was left.

That was the
condition that they lived in.

But God blessed us so
much that when we went there

and we started to
share the love of God

that their countenances
changed in a moment.

People who had no clothes

now could walk with
clothes on their back.

eat because God led us there

to feed them. And
even while we were there

we gave about 400 Bible studies

and we fed about 2,000
people that were there.

And that just shows that we
need to go and just do the work.

Not only that... Not only did
we meet the needs of the people

but the most important
need that needed to be met

was people in the
villages knowing about Christ.

And we had the privilege
of witnessing 219 people

being baptized into the
Seventh-day Adventist church.

Amen! And I actually want to
share a brief testimony about

one of the people who
got baptized into the church.

And his name was Desire.
00:10:43.30\00:10:45.27
Now I remember... We
were there for six weeks
00:10:45.67\00:10:49.04
within Zimbabwe, and the very
last week our leader had said:
00:10:49.24\00:10:54.45
"OK guys, we're going to
go out to a new village. "
00:10:54.65\00:10:57.09
It's only 7 days that we had
00:10:57.29\00:10:59.35
to evangelize a
whole entire village.
00:10:59.65\00:11:01.99
And it was huge! So
what we decided to do
00:11:02.29\00:11:04.86
was go out into the market
places and hold an evangelistic
00:11:05.06\00:11:08.63
meeting there. We would
put up these big speakers
00:11:08.73\00:11:11.23
and you know we would just
all be preaching and singing
00:11:11.43\00:11:14.47
and, you know,
welcoming the families to come.

And we'd be doing Bible
studies during that time.

And at the end of 5
days the same young gentleman

Desire decided he wanted
to give his heart to God.

But the best part about it

was he now wanted to bring
others to Christ the same way

he was brought. And
literally his whole family

he shared testimonies
with them about the new truth

that he found. To the
point where the day after he got

baptized he shared his testimony
with a young lady, and she, too,

decided to be
baptized. So it's not just that.

You know, we're going
out and sharing the truth

but we're also making disciples.

And we're going to show a

there are worse than some of

the Third World
countries that I've been to.

imagine that in the States

there are people who are
being turned away from receiving

medical care because of
the color of their skin.

And this is something that

we've experienced.
People who watch as their mother

passes away and the ambulance
doesn't arrive for 45 minutes

"We have to make a difference. "

have built a wellness center

with our own hands.

But I could have never imagined
