Praise the Lord! 00:05:05.77\00:05:08.24 Thank you, Yvonne. 00:05:08.54\00:05:09.97 Going to show you a little short video, a musical video 00:05:11.97\00:05:16.24 in just a moment, but before that I want to introduce 00:05:16.34\00:05:18.91 our speaker today: pastor, evangelist, author 00:05:19.11\00:05:22.12 Doug Batchelor. I don't know anybody in the Adventist church 00:05:22.32\00:05:25.69 when I travel that I've had... 00:05:25.89\00:05:28.06 And I don't want to give numbers, but whether it's 00:05:28.36\00:05:30.26 hundreds or thousands over the last few years 00:05:30.36\00:05:32.69 everywhere I go people come up and say 00:05:32.89\00:05:35.06 "Praise the Lord for 3ABN! 00:05:35.26\00:05:36.87 I've come to know Jesus. " And many of those say 00:05:37.07\00:05:39.97 "and I was baptized through the ministry of Doug Batchelor, 00:05:40.17\00:05:43.91 Amazing Facts, and 3ABN. " 00:05:44.11\00:05:46.01 So what a great "working togetherness" it has been 00:05:46.21\00:05:49.08 for so many years. And then we started our satellite seminars 00:05:49.28\00:05:52.71 way back in the 90's also. 00:05:52.91\00:05:55.18 We continue this relationship because Doug is committed... 00:05:55.38\00:05:59.65 he has sold out to the Lord Jesus Christ 00:05:59.85\00:06:02.02 and is committed to evangelize the entire world. 00:06:02.32\00:06:04.83 And all the resources that we have go to support him 00:06:05.03\00:06:08.83 and many others who are out there on the front lines. 00:06:09.03\00:06:11.93 And so we are thankful that he is our speaker here. 00:06:12.33\00:06:14.74 But right before he comes let's put on this song 00:06:14.84\00:06:17.94 and my daughter Melody is going to sing it. 00:06:18.14\00:06:19.87 This part of the new Hallelujah! Home At Last 00:06:20.08\00:06:22.61 second coming. She sang it; we recorded it. 00:06:22.81\00:06:25.61 For Ever He's Alive. 00:06:25.81\00:06:27.88 Amen! Thank you, Melody. That was beautiful! 00:10:50.55\00:10:54.25 Beautiful new song. 00:10:54.75\00:10:56.08 Also so much enjoyed Yvonne singing a few moments ago. 00:10:56.22\00:10:58.95 I've been sitting back there listening to the just inspiring 00:10:59.15\00:11:03.32 testimonies, and it's a thrill for Amazing Facts to be able 00:11:03.53\00:11:07.80 to partner with 3ABN for these... Well, since inception 00:11:07.90\00:11:11.67 with Joe Crews's programs and myself. 00:11:11.87\00:11:15.17 I think it was about 19 years ago I made my first trip here 00:11:15.37\00:11:18.84 and it's just a delight to be back and to be talking about 00:11:19.14\00:11:22.64 the gospel and the second coming of Jesus. 00:11:22.94\00:11:26.11 And we're looking forward to working together in about 00:11:27.15\00:11:29.72 a month in this special up-link that's going to be happening 00:11:29.82\00:11:34.09 from Albuquerque, New Mexico. 00:11:34.29\00:11:35.72 I hope that you will all be praying. 00:11:35.92\00:11:38.06 You know, the Bible tells us if the Lord doesn't build 00:11:38.16\00:11:40.53 the house we labor in vain. 00:11:40.63\00:11:42.30 And so we're just praying for God to bless this new series 00:11:42.70\00:11:45.43 coming - it will be broadcast here on 3ABN - 00:11:45.63\00:11:48.07 called Landmarks of Prophecy. 00:11:48.27\00:11:50.01 It will be a similar Net event to the Prophecy Code and 00:11:50.31\00:11:53.07 The Millennium of Prophecy. 00:11:53.27\00:11:54.61 People watch those old programs 00:11:54.84\00:11:56.71 still and they say: "Pastor Doug, how come you look 00:11:56.91\00:11:58.58 so different than you did back then? " 00:11:58.71\00:12:01.88 And so I thought: "I'd better get something updated. " 00:12:02.32\00:12:04.49 And so we just encourage you 00:12:04.89\00:12:06.92 to not only pray for it... participate in the program. 00:12:07.12\00:12:10.33 If you have no evangelistic plans scheduled for your church, 00:12:10.46\00:12:13.50 if nothing else you would want to record the programs 00:12:13.80\00:12:16.03 so you could use them. But bring some people to your home 00:12:16.23\00:12:19.23 and bring some people into your church. 00:12:19.43\00:12:21.24 You can go to the website and download the lessons 00:12:21.54\00:12:24.07 and advertising... everything you need. 00:12:24.17\00:12:25.84 It's just very simple: landmarksofprophecy. com 00:12:26.04\00:12:29.08 And so I hope that you'll utilize the program 00:12:29.48\00:12:31.78 and please pray for us. 00:12:31.98\00:12:33.31 Well, this week we are talking about how to survive the storms. 00:12:34.75\00:12:39.39 And we've been looking at a variety of Biblical storms. 00:12:39.69\00:12:43.89 And I'd just like to pray again with you 00:12:44.39\00:12:46.53 as we prepare to delve into God's Word 00:12:46.83\00:12:49.26 that His presence will be here. 00:12:49.56\00:12:51.20 Father, we do believe we are living in the final days 00:12:52.87\00:12:56.30 of the world's history, and not only is there a great storm 00:12:56.50\00:13:00.54 coming that You told us about in prophecy. 00:13:00.74\00:13:03.08 We all encounter storms of varying degrees 00:13:03.38\00:13:06.68 in our lives. And we just pray for wisdom and grace 00:13:06.78\00:13:10.42 so that we can be witnesses for You through these storms 00:13:10.62\00:13:14.59 and survive with peace coming out the other side. 00:13:14.79\00:13:17.19 Speak to all of us through the power of Your Word right now. 00:13:17.69\00:13:20.43 We pray that You will be glorified, 00:13:20.73\00:13:22.16 and we ask this in Jesus' name, Amen. 00:13:22.36\00:13:25.87 Max Lucado in one of his books talks about 00:13:28.10\00:13:31.57 Chippy, the parakeet. I don't know if you've read that story? 00:13:31.77\00:13:34.94 This lady had a parakeet, Chippy. Used to sing, 00:13:35.34\00:13:37.75 keep her company in his cage there in the kitchen. 00:13:37.95\00:13:39.85 And one day she wanted to help clean up the cage. 00:13:40.25\00:13:43.65 And that always made him very nervous because 00:13:43.85\00:13:46.25 she used the vacuum cleaner. You know, some animals 00:13:46.45\00:13:49.02 they leave the room. And Chippy couldn't really help it. 00:13:49.12\00:13:53.43 She thought it was the easiest way to pick up the seeds 00:13:53.73\00:13:55.60 and things in the bottom of the cage. And so one day 00:13:55.73\00:13:57.63 she had the little nozzle off. You know, the little sweeper 00:13:57.83\00:14:00.60 thing, and she stuck the hose into Chippy's cage 00:14:00.70\00:14:03.81 after she got the paper out. She's cleaning up the corners 00:14:04.01\00:14:06.11 and Chippy's making this awful terrified squawking noise 00:14:06.21\00:14:08.74 and the phone rang. 00:14:09.14\00:14:10.91 And she wanted to reach the phone. 00:14:12.61\00:14:15.38 She reached for the phone. She didn't realize she tipped up 00:14:15.58\00:14:17.39 the end, and just as she picked up the phone 00:14:17.59\00:14:19.55 and said "hello" she heard Chippy stop squeaking 00:14:19.75\00:14:21.62 and she heard "choomp. " 00:14:21.72\00:14:23.29 And she knew right away what had happened. 00:14:24.09\00:14:25.76 She dropped the phone. She quickly turned off the vacuum. 00:14:26.06\00:14:28.90 She opened it up. She saw something moving inside the bag. 00:14:29.30\00:14:33.23 She tore the bag open and extricated poor Chippy 00:14:34.34\00:14:37.31 who was just covered with dust and dirt 00:14:37.51\00:14:40.58 and all the innards of a dirty vacuum cleaner bag 00:14:40.68\00:14:43.08 and coughing and sneezing little parakeet sneezes. 00:14:43.28\00:14:46.48 And she felt so bad. She took him over to the kitchen sink 00:14:46.68\00:14:50.15 and she turned on the water. Thought it would help him, 00:14:50.35\00:14:54.26 and she stuck him under there 00:14:54.32\00:14:55.72 and the water just poured over him 00:14:55.82\00:14:57.59 and tried to clean him all up. 00:14:57.89\00:15:01.86 And after she had done that she got him pretty clean - 00:15:02.20\00:15:04.57 soap and everything - 00:15:04.87\00:15:07.04 but Chippy was now shivering. 00:15:08.64\00:15:11.01 So she went and she got the hair dryer. 00:15:11.41\00:15:14.18 And she turned it on high. 00:15:14.84\00:15:18.71 Help Chippy down and blew him over 00:15:19.21\00:15:23.42 and then put him back in his cage. 00:15:26.15\00:15:28.42 Well, she told the neighbor about this... who managed to 00:15:29.36\00:15:31.43 mention it to the local paper 00:15:31.53\00:15:32.89 and the epic trials of Chippy made the news. 00:15:33.19\00:15:37.90 News reporter called a few days later and he said: 00:15:39.67\00:15:41.50 "You know, a lot of people have called in. They're wondering 00:15:41.54\00:15:43.61 how is Chippy doing. " 00:15:43.81\00:15:46.17 And she said: "Well, to tell you the truth, 00:15:46.57\00:15:48.31 he doesn't sing much any more. He makes this occasional 00:15:48.61\00:15:52.41 moan and he just sort of stares. " 00:15:52.61\00:15:55.32 But you can't really blame him. 00:15:59.59\00:16:01.12 I mean, after you've been sucked up, poured over, 00:16:01.72\00:16:04.86 and blown off it can do something to your song. 00:16:05.06\00:16:10.60 And sometimes the storms we go through in life change us. 00:16:12.97\00:16:16.94 Now if there's anybody in the Bible who knew something about 00:16:19.34\00:16:21.91 storms that was the apostle Paul. 00:16:22.11\00:16:25.25 Turn please with me in the scriptures to II Corinthians 11. 00:16:26.51\00:16:29.82 II Corinthians 11 verse 23. 00:16:31.22\00:16:34.52 Just in case you think your storms have been more 00:16:35.72\00:16:40.20 than anyone could endure 00:16:40.40\00:16:42.16 listen to Paul describe some of his adventures 00:16:42.76\00:16:45.30 in serving the Lord. He's comparing himself to 00:16:45.50\00:16:48.30 some of the other apostles and teachers that had cropped up 00:16:48.50\00:16:51.01 in the church and they were dismissing the things 00:16:51.11\00:16:53.51 that Paul said. And Paul said: "You know, 00:16:53.61\00:16:56.11 my experience gives me credibility 00:16:56.31\00:17:00.35 and there are none of the other apostles or teachers 00:17:00.85\00:17:04.79 that have been through what I have been through. " 00:17:04.99\00:17:07.99 And it says here in II Corinthians 11:23: 00:17:09.86\00:17:12.49 "Are they ministers of Christ? 00:17:12.89\00:17:15.13 I speak as a fool... I am more. 00:17:15.43\00:17:18.40 In labors? More abundant. In stripes? " That's when you 00:17:18.70\00:17:21.50 were whipped... "above measure. 00:17:21.74\00:17:23.91 In prisons more frequently. 00:17:24.21\00:17:25.91 In deaths? Often. From the Jews, five times 00:17:26.11\00:17:30.18 I received forty stripes minus one. " 00:17:30.38\00:17:33.35 Five times four is what? 00:17:33.65\00:17:35.62 Twenty. So five times forty would be 200 00:17:36.02\00:17:41.16 minus five lashes. 00:17:41.36\00:17:44.53 395... no... 195 lashes. 00:17:45.26\00:17:48.66 Should have done the math before I got out here. 00:17:49.80\00:17:51.67 That wasn't my strong suit. 00:17:53.03\00:17:54.67 "From the Jews five times I received 40 stripes minus 1. 00:17:56.04\00:17:59.31 Three times I was beaten with rods. 00:17:59.51\00:18:01.68 Once I was stoned. " 00:18:02.08\00:18:04.58 How many people can even live to write about that? 00:18:04.88\00:18:06.61 Paul actually may have been resurrected. We're not sure. 00:18:08.55\00:18:11.05 It says he was stoned and he was laying there. 00:18:11.25\00:18:12.95 For all we know he was dead and God raised him up. 00:18:13.15\00:18:15.26 "Once I was stoned; three times I was shipwrecked. 00:18:17.19\00:18:20.26 A night and a day I have been in the deep... " 00:18:23.57\00:18:26.53 Floating around in the vast ocean. 00:18:26.94\00:18:30.21 "In journeys? Often. In perils of waters. " 00:18:32.17\00:18:35.28 There he's got the waters again. 00:18:35.58\00:18:37.18 "In perils of robbers; 00:18:37.58\00:18:39.35 in perils of my own countrymen. 00:18:39.55\00:18:41.68 In perils of the Gentiles. " 00:18:41.98\00:18:44.09 That covers everyone: Jew and Gentile. 00:18:44.39\00:18:46.32 "In perils in the city; in perils in the country. " 00:18:46.52\00:18:49.39 Everything from mad crowds to wild animals. 00:18:49.79\00:18:52.39 "In perils in the sea. " There you have it again. 00:18:52.79\00:18:55.10 Paul knew the sea. He was born in Tarsus by the sea. 00:18:55.33\00:18:59.53 "In perils among false brethren. " 00:19:00.44\00:19:02.44 Have any of you experienced that? 00:19:02.84\00:19:04.77 "In weariness and in toil; in sleeplessness? Often. 00:19:05.74\00:19:10.35 In hunger and thirst and fastings? Often! 00:19:10.55\00:19:14.02 In cold and nakedness. Besides the other things 00:19:14.22\00:19:18.29 that come upon me daily... 00:19:18.39\00:19:19.72 my deep concern for all the churches. " 00:19:19.89\00:19:22.39 Boy, he'd been through it! 00:19:23.36\00:19:24.73 Paul was high mileage. 00:19:25.23\00:19:27.20 That's why Paul could write: "I bear in my body 00:19:27.70\00:19:30.50 the marks of our Lord Jesus Christ. " 00:19:30.60\00:19:32.40 His back was all riddled with scars 00:19:32.43\00:19:34.64 for his faith. 00:19:36.67\00:19:38.17 Jesus said: "If anyone would come after Me, 00:19:38.67\00:19:41.11 you need to take up your cross 00:19:42.21\00:19:43.78 daily. Deny yourself. " 00:19:44.08\00:19:46.78 You'll have treasure in heaven 00:19:47.38\00:19:49.18 and it's still better to serve the Lord. 00:19:49.38\00:19:52.82 I know it doesn't sound like the most optimistic advertising 00:19:53.12\00:19:56.56 campaign. You know, a lot of pastors are trying to market 00:19:56.76\00:19:59.53 Christianity by giving everybody what they want. 00:19:59.73\00:20:01.66 But that's not what Jesus said. 00:20:02.76\00:20:04.63 Amen! 00:20:04.73\00:20:06.07 He said: "Whosoever will deny his life 00:20:06.10\00:20:08.67 will find it. If you seek to save your life you'll lose it. 00:20:08.77\00:20:12.17 But if you're willing to lose your life for My sake 00:20:12.47\00:20:15.21 and the gospel you'll find it. " 00:20:15.31\00:20:16.85 Paul, when he finally met Jesus and he saw how much 00:20:17.65\00:20:20.18 Jesus had suffered for him, 00:20:20.28\00:20:21.98 and He said: "Paul, Paul, how long will you 00:20:22.28\00:20:27.46 kick against the goads? " 00:20:27.66\00:20:30.09 And Paul fasted three days. No food... no water. 00:20:30.86\00:20:33.96 That's a pretty tough fast. 00:20:34.16\00:20:35.50 And he gave himself to Jesus 00:20:35.80\00:20:37.20 and Paul was "sold out" for Christ. 00:20:37.30\00:20:39.17 And you know what? He says that everything he went through 00:20:39.37\00:20:42.40 he counts as nothing compared to the riches 00:20:42.50\00:20:46.11 that he had in Jesus. 00:20:46.31\00:20:47.71 The constant joy that Paul was able to have... 00:20:48.01\00:20:51.25 Paul was never afraid of any storm. You know why? 00:20:51.45\00:20:53.78 If you are truly God-fearing, you don't fear anything else. 00:20:54.95\00:20:57.79 Amen! If you're not God-fearing, 00:20:58.09\00:20:59.89 you'll end up fearing everything else. 00:21:00.09\00:21:01.42 Amen! But God said... Jesus tells us that 00:21:01.62\00:21:04.36 He gives us a peace that passes understanding 00:21:04.56\00:21:06.96 so that even in the midst of a storm 00:21:07.26\00:21:09.80 we are fearless - Amen! - 00:21:10.20\00:21:12.63 'cause you know that God is in charge of your life. 00:21:12.77\00:21:15.64 And you know, when you become a Christian 00:21:15.94\00:21:18.07 you are crucified with Christ, you are dead to self. 00:21:18.27\00:21:19.97 How many times can you die? 00:21:20.28\00:21:21.74 If you're dead to self, then what happens to this life 00:21:22.14\00:21:27.82 and this body you're not afraid of any more. 00:21:28.02\00:21:30.72 By the way, if you're dead to self, nobody can hurt 00:21:31.55\00:21:33.19 your feelings. Mmmm. A lot of times we're so offended 00:21:33.29\00:21:36.86 by what others say is because we've got too much self inside. 00:21:37.06\00:21:39.93 Amen! Amen! Paul... he really lived it out. 00:21:40.23\00:21:43.67 Now you know, the Bible begins with a big storm 00:21:44.00\00:21:45.97 in the story of Noah, and you've got the storm of Jonah. 00:21:46.17\00:21:51.31 You've got a number of storms along the way. 00:21:51.51\00:21:53.54 If you turn to the book of Acts 27 00:21:53.84\00:21:56.48 the history of the early church ends with a storm 00:21:56.68\00:22:00.65 at sea. Pretty epic storm. 00:22:00.95\00:22:02.92 Whole chapter 27 is dedicated to this storm. 00:22:03.12\00:22:06.35 So if you go to Acts 27, and let me just give you the background 00:22:07.56\00:22:11.16 of what we're going to read together. 00:22:11.36\00:22:12.99 Paul had been arrested by his own countrymen. 00:22:15.90\00:22:18.80 They just about beat him to death. 00:22:18.90\00:22:20.40 A mob almost tore him limb from limb there in the temple. 00:22:20.60\00:22:23.30 You remember that? And he loved the Lord so much 00:22:23.51\00:22:26.88 here that they're trying to kill him. They're beating him; 00:22:27.08\00:22:29.88 they're throwing things at him. 00:22:30.08\00:22:31.81 And in the middle of all of this as the Roman guards came in 00:22:32.01\00:22:35.75 they rescued Paul from the mob. 00:22:35.95\00:22:37.59 They're dragging him up onto the steps to get him away. 00:22:37.89\00:22:40.56 And as soon as they get him out of the reach of the mob 00:22:40.76\00:22:42.42 and he's behind the Roman lines 00:22:42.62\00:22:44.13 the soldiers protecting him 00:22:44.43\00:22:45.76 he says to the centurion: "Can I talk to the people? " 00:22:45.93\00:22:49.23 And he tries immediately to preach to... 00:22:50.40\00:22:54.07 Boy, that's an evangelist, right? 00:22:54.50\00:22:56.10 You try to convert the people that are wanting to kill you. 00:22:56.50\00:22:59.01 And Paul just wanted to reach as many as he could. 00:23:00.14\00:23:02.68 He knew what it meant to love your enemies. 00:23:02.98\00:23:04.48 He's trying to reach the people that were trying to kill him. 00:23:04.68\00:23:06.25 Anyway, he ended up having to go to court. 00:23:06.92\00:23:08.88 And the Jews in Jerusalem... they continued to accuse him. 00:23:09.18\00:23:11.85 He was in jail for a while there in Caesarea. 00:23:12.05\00:23:13.82 Finally he said: "Look, I'm never... " 00:23:14.12\00:23:15.46 He's been in jail two years. He said: "I'm never going to get 00:23:15.49\00:23:17.16 justice here as long as the Jews are here. 00:23:17.36\00:23:18.79 I need to appeal to Caesar. " That was the Supreme Court. 00:23:18.99\00:23:21.46 You could appeal to Caesar if you were a Roman citizen 00:23:21.66\00:23:23.53 which Paul was because he was born in Tarsus. 00:23:23.73\00:23:26.53 And so they had to go along with his appeal 00:23:27.04\00:23:30.97 but the best way to get to Rome was by boat. 00:23:31.17\00:23:33.21 Took a lot less time by boat than it did walking by land. 00:23:33.51\00:23:36.68 So this is the story of his journey, but he is on this 00:23:36.98\00:23:40.22 boat with a load of other prisoners and some cargo 00:23:40.42\00:23:43.42 on their way to the king - Nero at the time of Rome - 00:23:43.52\00:23:47.09 to appeal for his release. 00:23:47.39\00:23:50.26 So we'll begin with verse 9. 00:23:51.29\00:23:53.86 They dilly-dallied a little too long 00:23:54.93\00:23:57.07 as they were preparing for this voyage. 00:23:57.27\00:23:59.43 And he's in the care of a Roman centurion by the name 00:23:59.93\00:24:03.27 of Julius. It's interesting when you read the Bible 00:24:03.47\00:24:06.68 the Roman centurions all ended up being pretty good men 00:24:06.88\00:24:09.91 and this man was one of them. 00:24:10.11\00:24:11.45 Another good thing if you're going to go through a storm 00:24:13.11\00:24:15.58 it's nice if you don't have to go through the storm alone. 00:24:15.88\00:24:18.32 If you've got friends, that can make a world of difference. 00:24:18.82\00:24:21.16 And you see here that Paul 00:24:21.56\00:24:23.56 when you read up in the early part of chapter 27 00:24:23.76\00:24:26.66 is with a friend named Aristarchus. 00:24:26.96\00:24:29.46 And the one who writes this story is Luke. 00:24:29.76\00:24:33.37 So Luke is with him 'cause Luke says: "We did this 00:24:33.67\00:24:36.04 and we did that. " 00:24:36.14\00:24:37.47 So Paul is with two companions who accompany him. 00:24:37.51\00:24:41.04 Isn't it nice if you've got to go to court to have friends? 00:24:41.34\00:24:43.28 You've got to have good friends 00:24:45.11\00:24:46.45 that are going to take a 1-year journey to go to court with you. 00:24:46.48\00:24:48.95 I mean, this was a big trip back then to go all the way 00:24:49.95\00:24:52.92 to Rome. Those were friends. Stick closer than a brother. 00:24:53.12\00:24:57.46 And so, he's got some friends with him. 00:24:58.29\00:25:01.06 And it's good to have friends. 00:25:01.46\00:25:02.80 They can pray with you through a storm. 00:25:02.83\00:25:04.27 But they had taken too long. The Fall is here. 00:25:05.47\00:25:08.24 The good time for sailing is gone. 00:25:08.64\00:25:11.31 The storm season is about to begin. 00:25:11.61\00:25:13.71 And it says in verse 9: 00:25:14.21\00:25:15.88 "Now when much time had been spent 00:25:16.18\00:25:18.78 and sailing was now dangerous because the fast was over... " 00:25:18.98\00:25:22.38 He's referring to Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement. 00:25:22.48\00:25:24.95 That ought to speak to us. 00:25:25.25\00:25:26.59 They were at the end of the Jewish year 00:25:27.29\00:25:28.96 and that for them was a trigger. 00:25:30.09\00:25:31.43 On their sailing calendar they said: "You don't sail 00:25:31.66\00:25:33.73 after that because you've got a good chance of running into 00:25:33.93\00:25:36.26 a storm. " And they can come up suddenly. 00:25:36.36\00:25:39.07 Paul advised them... verse 10: 00:25:40.24\00:25:42.07 "Men... " He's talking to the people in charge of the ship... 00:25:42.27\00:25:45.27 "I perceive that this voyage will end with disaster 00:25:45.47\00:25:48.14 and much loss, not only of the cargo and the ship 00:25:48.34\00:25:50.78 but also our lives. " "It's too late and too dangerous 00:25:50.98\00:25:53.58 to make this trip to Rome this time of year. " 00:25:53.78\00:25:56.22 Paul knew. He had sailed all around the Mediterranean. 00:25:56.62\00:25:59.95 He was born on it; he understood sailing. 00:26:00.16\00:26:01.99 I mean, this guy had been shipwrecked three times. 00:26:02.29\00:26:03.79 You're pretty good after you're on three shipwrecks. 00:26:03.99\00:26:05.93 And so, you know, here you've got the soldiers 00:26:07.10\00:26:10.53 and you've got the ship owners and you've got the captain 00:26:10.73\00:26:12.53 and the crew. And all of a sudden one of the prisoners 00:26:12.73\00:26:15.80 pipes up and he says: "You'd better not be sailing now. 00:26:16.67\00:26:19.91 It's dangerous. You're going to lose your cargo. 00:26:20.11\00:26:21.88 We'll probably lose our lives. It's too late. " "Who are you? " 00:26:21.98\00:26:25.35 They said: "We're not listening to you. " 00:26:26.58\00:26:28.12 Ha-haa... they were sorry they didn't. 00:26:28.72\00:26:30.99 "Nevertheless, the centurion was more persuaded by the 00:26:31.65\00:26:34.32 helmsman... " - the pilot - 00:26:34.42\00:26:35.76 "and the owner of the ship than by the things spoken by Paul. " 00:26:35.82\00:26:39.23 By the way, friends, you are wise to listen to Paul. 00:26:39.43\00:26:41.40 "And because the harbor was not suitable to winter in... " 00:26:42.76\00:26:45.70 They didn't want to spend all the time parked in this harbor 00:26:45.90\00:26:48.07 that was exposed to the sea. And it would be... 00:26:48.27\00:26:50.01 Boat would be rockin' at dock. 00:26:50.21\00:26:52.01 "the majority advised to set sail from there also. 00:26:52.31\00:26:55.08 'By any means at least we could get to Phoenix... ' " 00:26:55.18\00:26:57.38 It was a harbor in Crete. 00:26:57.58\00:26:58.91 It had a pleasant harbor that opened to the southwest and 00:26:58.95\00:27:01.72 the northwest. 'and winter there. ' " 00:27:01.82\00:27:04.05 You could shop... a little more comfort. 00:27:04.25\00:27:06.52 So that's what they tried to do. 00:27:06.92\00:27:09.32 "And when the south wind blew softly... " 00:27:10.26\00:27:13.16 Sometimes just before the storm things blow softly. 00:27:13.83\00:27:18.40 "Supposing that they had obtained their purpose... " 00:27:19.27\00:27:21.20 "Oh, look at the beautiful weather. We're going to 00:27:21.40\00:27:22.74 make it! " "they put out to sea. " 00:27:22.77\00:27:25.34 Sometimes it's calm. "Peace, peace 00:27:25.74\00:27:28.48 before sudden destruction comes" the Bible says. 00:27:28.78\00:27:31.78 "They put out to sea and they sailed close by Crete. 00:27:33.88\00:27:37.12 But not long after a tempestuous headwind arose 00:27:37.32\00:27:42.36 called Euroclydon. " Related to the word Europe. 00:27:42.56\00:27:45.79 It was a special wind that had a similar name 00:27:45.99\00:27:49.43 because it came down from the north. 00:27:49.73\00:27:51.23 "So when the ship was caught and it could not head into the wind 00:27:52.10\00:27:55.67 we let her drive. And running under the shelter of an island 00:27:55.97\00:28:00.24 called Claudia, blocked from the wind briefly. " 00:28:00.44\00:28:02.34 As the ship was going by this island they thought 00:28:02.44\00:28:04.45 "We'd better tie things off. 00:28:04.55\00:28:05.88 "We'd better batten down the hatches. " You ever heard that 00:28:05.91\00:28:07.65 expression before? "We secured the skiff. " 00:28:07.75\00:28:11.42 They were dragging a little boat behind them... 00:28:11.62\00:28:13.05 their little lifeboat. All the ships have these 00:28:13.15\00:28:14.69 because they'd park off shore. They'd take a little boat back 00:28:14.89\00:28:17.33 and forth. They said: "We'd better haul that thing up 00:28:17.43\00:28:20.56 on the davits and tie it off onto the boat. " 00:28:20.76\00:28:23.26 It says: "We took on board the lifeboat and we used cables 00:28:27.44\00:28:31.27 to undergird the ship. " 00:28:31.47\00:28:33.24 That means that they actually tried to tie off the ship by 00:28:34.38\00:28:37.15 wrapping strong ropes around it 00:28:37.35\00:28:39.71 and cinching it down because they thought they had 00:28:39.91\00:28:42.28 cargo, they had passengers. They thought: "We're getting 00:28:42.38\00:28:44.19 ready to head out into a storm we'd better tie things off 00:28:44.29\00:28:46.96 every way we can... every way we could to hold this thing 00:28:47.16\00:28:49.22 together. " Which is a good idea for us as well. 00:28:49.32\00:28:53.73 "Fearing that we should run aground on the Syrtis sands 00:28:57.17\00:29:00.54 they struck sail and so were driven. 00:29:00.74\00:29:03.24 And because we were exceedingly tempest tossed 00:29:03.54\00:29:07.81 the next day they lightened the ship. " 00:29:08.11\00:29:10.35 Now, they're making this voyage; they're transporting goods. 00:29:10.45\00:29:13.82 That's some of the money. One of the things that they 00:29:14.72\00:29:16.58 found in the Mediterranean they found a number of Phoenician 00:29:16.69\00:29:19.15 shipwrecks. The Phoenicians sort of ran... they were 00:29:19.35\00:29:21.89 the truckers' union in the Mediterranean. 00:29:22.02\00:29:23.83 They had all the shipping trade. 00:29:24.13\00:29:25.76 And they found a number of these Phoenician wrecks, 00:29:26.16\00:29:28.36 and they had... they carried a lot of wine and oil in jars. 00:29:28.56\00:29:32.13 And they would load that at the bottom of the ship 00:29:32.33\00:29:34.07 because it gave the ship weight and stability and ballast. 00:29:34.27\00:29:37.07 And so they found a number of these wrecks where the jars 00:29:37.77\00:29:40.01 were all... they say "in fora"... all lined up. 00:29:40.21\00:29:42.88 And it's one of the last things that they found. 00:29:43.18\00:29:46.01 They found some that were still sealed. 00:29:46.21\00:29:47.95 And so they began to toss some of the valuable cargo out: 00:29:48.45\00:29:52.42 the oil and the wine that they were going to trade with. 00:29:52.62\00:29:55.89 You know, sometimes it's in a storm 00:29:57.26\00:30:00.83 it's a good idea to unload. 00:30:01.03\00:30:02.76 It's hard to run the race in the Christian life when you're 00:30:04.00\00:30:06.57 weighed down. Amen! 00:30:06.77\00:30:09.00 The Bible tells us: "Seeing... " Hebrews chapter 12 00:30:09.30\00:30:12.17 verse 1... "Seeing then that we are surrounded 00:30:12.47\00:30:15.81 by so great a cloud of witnesses 00:30:15.91\00:30:17.78 let us run the race that is set before us 00:30:18.11\00:30:20.52 laying aside every weight and the sin which doth so easily 00:30:20.72\00:30:24.19 beset us, fixing our eyes on Jesus... " Setting our eyes 00:30:24.29\00:30:28.19 on Jesus... "the Author and the Finisher 00:30:28.29\00:30:29.92 of our faith. " If we're going to run that race 00:30:30.03\00:30:32.23 and if we're going to get through the storm, 00:30:32.43\00:30:33.83 you might need to lighten your load. Amen! 00:30:34.03\00:30:37.53 Might need to downsize. Amen! 00:30:37.93\00:30:41.10 Good time... If you've been praying about: "Lord, 00:30:41.30\00:30:43.71 would this be a good time to invest in Your work 00:30:44.74\00:30:47.38 in spreading the gospel? " 00:30:47.58\00:30:49.34 It's like they were saying earlier: "If you're livin' 00:30:50.71\00:30:53.48 when you're givin' you're knowin' where it's going. " 00:30:53.58\00:30:55.82 And you have never seen a hearse pulling a U-Haul, 00:30:56.85\00:31:00.46 have you? 00:31:00.56\00:31:02.22 "Naked you come into the world... " 00:31:02.62\00:31:04.26 like it or not... "naked you go out. " 00:31:04.46\00:31:05.86 Amen! It'd be nice for you to have something to say. 00:31:06.16\00:31:08.66 As a pastor I do a lot of funerals. 00:31:08.86\00:31:11.53 And it's really sad because sometimes before the funeral's 00:31:11.57\00:31:14.44 even over the family's fighting over the possessions. 00:31:14.54\00:31:18.94 And they may have gotten along all their lives 00:31:19.24\00:31:21.48 and I've seen an estate that wasn't carefully planned 00:31:21.68\00:31:25.81 tear a family apart. 00:31:26.01\00:31:27.35 But if you make good provision, get those things in order, 00:31:28.82\00:31:31.79 set your stuff up for the Lord's work. 00:31:32.09\00:31:34.12 I've also soon people who are Christians all their life 00:31:34.32\00:31:36.52 they may have children that are not, and they've got 00:31:36.83\00:31:38.83 considerable wealth. And they leave this wealth 00:31:38.93\00:31:41.46 they wanted to use for God's kingdom 00:31:41.66\00:31:43.67 to children that are unconverted... 00:31:44.17\00:31:46.70 that are basically dedicated to the devil. 00:31:46.90\00:31:48.70 I'm just being frank with you. 00:31:49.20\00:31:50.67 I think you ought to show love for your family 00:31:50.87\00:31:53.07 in your will, but you shouldn't give the lion's share 00:31:53.48\00:31:57.11 of God's treasure to the enemy. 00:31:57.31\00:31:59.65 Invest in God's kingdom. 00:32:01.02\00:32:02.58 David loved Solomon, but you know where David 00:32:03.72\00:32:05.45 put most of his treasure? In the house of God. 00:32:05.65\00:32:07.92 He wanted to build up the house of God. 00:32:08.42\00:32:09.92 That should be our plan. So they see this storm is 00:32:10.13\00:32:13.66 just tearing them apart, and they start to lighten the boat. 00:32:13.86\00:32:17.33 "And because they were exceedingly tempest tossed... " 00:32:20.17\00:32:23.14 Like the book of Jonah... "the next day they lightened 00:32:23.34\00:32:25.51 the ship. On the third day it got so bad 00:32:25.61\00:32:28.48 we threw the ship's tackle overboard with our own hands. " 00:32:28.78\00:32:32.41 Paul said: "I still can't believe it. They asked us 00:32:32.61\00:32:34.82 the... " You know what the ship's tackle is? 00:32:35.02\00:32:37.09 That's all the pulleys and the ropes and the things you do 00:32:37.29\00:32:39.32 to operate the boat. But they had extra tackling 00:32:39.52\00:32:41.72 underneath. They said: "Throw it all overboard. " 00:32:41.82\00:32:43.59 Extra sail, everything is getting thrown overboard. 00:32:43.89\00:32:45.99 "Now when neither sun nor stars appeared for many days... " 00:32:47.40\00:32:51.43 You know what that means in Bible times? 00:32:51.83\00:32:54.04 They did not use GPS. 00:32:54.24\00:32:56.10 How did they know where in the world they were? 00:32:56.40\00:32:58.54 They'd get out and they'd do some markings and chartings 00:33:00.14\00:33:02.94 and they'd find out the location of the sun during 00:33:03.14\00:33:05.31 the day and the stars during the night and they could 00:33:05.41\00:33:07.42 fix their position. They were pretty good at it back then. 00:33:07.52\00:33:10.09 But it is so cloudy and it is raining and blowing so hard 00:33:11.12\00:33:14.49 they can't even tell where the sun is coming from 00:33:14.69\00:33:16.62 because they're all polarized by these storm clouds. 00:33:16.83\00:33:19.23 And at night there's no moon, there's no stars. 00:33:19.63\00:33:21.53 And all they know is that they are being blown around 00:33:21.83\00:33:24.37 the gray sea during the day and the dark sea during the night. 00:33:24.57\00:33:27.07 I've been in the Mediterranean. 00:33:27.47\00:33:31.34 As a matter of fact, I landed on the same island 00:33:31.74\00:33:34.24 where Paul ends up getting shipwrecked. 00:33:34.34\00:33:36.14 And we were in a storm in the same ocean 00:33:36.64\00:33:39.68 when I was 16 years old. 00:33:39.88\00:33:42.45 I was on a boat that was a school. It was 00:33:43.59\00:33:46.79 sailing around the world and it was in the Mediterranean 00:33:46.99\00:33:48.82 when I was there with them. 00:33:48.92\00:33:50.56 And, you know, I always tell people: "When you look at a map 00:33:50.86\00:33:53.13 of Europe compared to the other oceans of the world 00:33:53.23\00:33:55.36 the Mediterranean's only that big. " 00:33:55.46\00:33:57.47 You know what I mean? It's not very big in the world. 00:33:57.90\00:33:59.40 But you get down in it and you find out that it's a sea. 00:33:59.53\00:34:03.51 And you get there you can't see the land for days 00:34:03.91\00:34:07.24 when you're in a little sailboat. 00:34:07.54\00:34:09.04 And the waves can get pretty monstrous. 00:34:09.21\00:34:13.15 And they were beginning to wonder if there was any hope. 00:34:16.12\00:34:19.12 "When neither sun nor star appeared for many days... " 00:34:19.32\00:34:22.62 Has God given us signs so we can know where we are? Amen! 00:34:24.09\00:34:29.26 Should God's people know where we are in the scope of time? 00:34:30.77\00:34:34.04 Amen! Jesus said: 'You can look at the sky 00:34:34.34\00:34:36.07 and you can tell what the weather's going to be 00:34:36.27\00:34:37.64 tomorrow. " You look and you say: "Look, 00:34:37.74\00:34:39.34 red sky at night... sailor's delight. 00:34:39.54\00:34:41.24 Red sky at morning... sailor: take warning! " 00:34:41.44\00:34:43.08 That's modern translation of what Jesus said. 00:34:43.95\00:34:46.31 He said: "You can look at the sky and discern the weather 00:34:47.25\00:34:49.58 tomorrow. " He says: "How come you can't discern the signs 00:34:49.68\00:34:51.72 of the times? " 00:34:51.82\00:34:53.15 Jesus tells us there will be signs of the times. 00:34:53.39\00:34:56.59 I have never been... And I'm not just saying this 00:34:57.33\00:34:59.49 I really mean it, friends. I have never been 00:34:59.59\00:35:02.16 more excited and stirred 00:35:02.46\00:35:07.44 about what I see happening in the world 00:35:07.74\00:35:09.87 as harbingers of the last days than I am now. 00:35:10.07\00:35:13.54 Amen! Maybe I'll say more tonight 00:35:13.84\00:35:18.11 about some of what the specifics are. 00:35:18.31\00:35:20.48 It'd be real easy to get sidetracked - yeah - by that 00:35:20.88\00:35:25.29 right now. I want to get Paul out of this storm. 00:35:25.39\00:35:27.86 "No small tempest was on us. " 00:35:30.86\00:35:32.86 That's Luke's way of writing when he says: "No small" 00:35:33.36\00:35:35.90 he means very big. 00:35:36.00\00:35:37.33 "All hope that we should be saved was finally given up. " 00:35:37.53\00:35:41.57 You know, people start losing hope if they don't know 00:35:42.54\00:35:44.77 where they are. If you're in a storm 00:35:44.87\00:35:47.01 and you can see your destination... 00:35:47.21\00:35:49.78 I remember one time 00:35:50.08\00:35:51.58 our family went and did some meetings in Micronesia. 00:35:51.78\00:35:54.78 And there's an island. It's supposed to have some of the 00:35:55.88\00:35:57.99 best scuba diving in the world not too far from Micronesia 00:35:58.09\00:36:01.92 on an island called Ant nine miles across the sea. 00:36:02.19\00:36:05.56 Ant - A-N-T - is the name of the island. 00:36:05.76\00:36:07.43 So family - three kids - we went out with a couple of natives 00:36:07.93\00:36:12.10 Pohnpeians, and we went scuba diving. 00:36:12.30\00:36:16.20 And they had thought we were going to spend the night there. 00:36:16.40\00:36:18.71 And we said: "No, we weren't planning on spending the night 00:36:18.81\00:36:20.71 here. " There were no facilities on the island; 00:36:20.81\00:36:22.34 the mosquitoes are just eating us alive. And we said: 00:36:22.44\00:36:24.18 "Any chance we could go back to the mission? " 00:36:24.48\00:36:26.88 They said: "Oh yeah, it's getting dark but 00:36:27.18\00:36:29.28 yeah, well, we'll try it. " 00:36:29.48\00:36:30.82 So they got out on the sea and the sun went down. 00:36:30.85\00:36:32.82 They had no lights. 00:36:33.96\00:36:35.29 And they had this motorboat wide open. 00:36:35.72\00:36:38.56 This is an open boat... no covering. 00:36:38.86\00:36:40.36 It's what they call "a Boston whaler. " 00:36:40.56\00:36:42.33 And the wind came up and the waves got big. 00:36:42.73\00:36:46.37 And all the kids were huddled down hanging on to their little 00:36:46.87\00:36:50.24 life jackets under the seat. 00:36:50.34\00:36:52.17 And the boat just kept going up and slapping down. 00:36:52.37\00:36:54.44 And these guys were wide open. On the way out there, they were 00:36:54.74\00:36:57.08 dodging palms that were out in the ocean and coconuts 00:36:57.28\00:37:00.15 that were out there, and there's coral reefs out there 00:37:00.25\00:37:02.88 that they were looking at. They can see any of this now. 00:37:03.08\00:37:06.19 I hadn't even thought about that. 00:37:06.39\00:37:07.79 And yet they've got the thing wide open 00:37:08.02\00:37:09.49 and it was pretty terrifying for a couple of hours 00:37:09.69\00:37:13.03 to be out there and not see anything but dark and the waves 00:37:13.23\00:37:16.77 bouncing up and down. And finally, you know, I'm poking 00:37:16.87\00:37:19.13 my head up and we finally saw the green light of the harbor 00:37:19.23\00:37:23.91 of Pohnpei... and I felt so much better. 00:37:24.11\00:37:27.64 Because just that one little light gave us some bearing 00:37:27.84\00:37:31.68 and hope. You know, if you can see the end, 00:37:31.88\00:37:35.65 if you can see where you're heading, 00:37:35.95\00:37:37.75 you can endure a lot of things 00:37:37.95\00:37:39.29 if you know it's not going to last. 00:37:39.32\00:37:40.66 If you can see the light at the end of the tunnel so to speak. 00:37:40.82\00:37:43.36 They saw no light. 00:37:43.89\00:37:45.99 And where there's life there's hope, and where there's light 00:37:46.80\00:37:48.86 there's hope. There's a lot of people out there in the world 00:37:48.96\00:37:51.50 and they see no hope. They have no light. 00:37:51.70\00:37:53.80 God wants you to be a light in the world for them. Amen! 00:37:54.00\00:37:56.50 Jesus should be shining and reflecting through you. 00:37:56.91\00:37:59.87 "But after long abstinence from food... " 00:38:02.68\00:38:05.18 Paul hadn't lost faith. Luke is talking about everybody else. 00:38:05.38\00:38:08.02 "But after long abstinence from food then Paul stood 00:38:08.52\00:38:12.12 in the midst of them and said: "Men, you should have listened 00:38:12.22\00:38:15.02 to me. " "I told you so... " 00:38:15.12\00:38:18.63 "You should have listened to me and not sailed from Crete 00:38:19.56\00:38:21.90 and incurred this disaster and loss. 00:38:22.10\00:38:24.20 And now I'd like to urge you to take heart 00:38:24.50\00:38:26.80 for there will be no loss of life among you 00:38:27.10\00:38:30.47 but only the ship. For there stood by me this night 00:38:30.77\00:38:34.78 an angel of the God who I belong to 00:38:34.98\00:38:38.01 and whom I serve saying: 'Do not be afraid, Paul. 00:38:38.21\00:38:42.15 You must be brought before Caesar. ' 00:38:42.35\00:38:44.02 And indeed, God has granted you all those who sail with you. " 00:38:44.22\00:38:48.29 God said: "Paul, look... I'm not done with you 00:38:48.49\00:38:50.49 so you're going to make it no matter what. " 00:38:50.69\00:38:52.03 He'd already survived three shipwrecks, right? 00:38:52.09\00:38:54.13 And He said: "You have to ac- tually testify before Caesar 00:38:55.16\00:38:58.93 and so you're going to make it. " 00:38:59.23\00:39:01.94 C.D. Brooks said this happened to him once. 00:39:04.64\00:39:06.47 It's also happened to me 00:39:06.68\00:39:08.01 where I was on an airplane and it was very turbulent. 00:39:08.34\00:39:12.61 And I had been talking to my seatmate, and they found out 00:39:12.91\00:39:15.82 I was a pastor. 'Cause one of the first things you say: 00:39:15.92\00:39:17.82 "Where are you going? " "What do you do? " 00:39:18.02\00:39:19.35 And I said: "I'm a pastor; I'm going to speak... 00:39:19.45\00:39:21.02 whatever. " And we got into some really bad weather. 00:39:21.22\00:39:24.73 And you know that it's turbulent when the captain tells the crew 00:39:25.03\00:39:28.10 to sit down and stop serving. 00:39:28.20\00:39:29.86 And I remember looking around and seeing one lady next door. 00:39:31.97\00:39:35.67 She pulled out her rosary and started counting her beads. 00:39:35.80\00:39:37.91 Now I'm a pilot and I get nervous, too. 00:39:38.21\00:39:40.31 I remember one guy got up because he just had to go 00:39:40.61\00:39:43.28 to the restroom. And it had been turbulent for so long 00:39:43.38\00:39:45.71 and he kept waiting and waiting for them to turn off 00:39:45.91\00:39:47.45 the seat belt sign. And I guess he couldn't wait any more 00:39:47.55\00:39:49.85 and he thought: "I've just got to get up and go to the 00:39:49.95\00:39:51.52 restroom. " And he got up, got half-way down the aisle 00:39:51.62\00:39:54.06 and the stewardess shouted: "Sit down! " 00:39:54.16\00:39:55.96 And he started going back to his seat 00:39:56.26\00:39:59.43 and she said: "Sit down in the aisle. " 00:39:59.46\00:40:01.90 Have you ever heard them tell someone to sit right where they 00:40:02.50\00:40:05.03 are in the aisle? It was bouncing that bad 00:40:05.13\00:40:07.17 they were afraid he was going to fall on somebody 00:40:07.37\00:40:08.70 and really get hurt. They said: "Sit where you are 00:40:08.74\00:40:11.11 right now. " So this guy sits down in the aisle. 00:40:11.31\00:40:13.51 I mean, this was how bad the turbulence was. 00:40:14.01\00:40:16.04 This lady who's sitting next to me said: 00:40:18.25\00:40:20.45 "I'm so glad I'm sitting next to a pastor 00:40:20.75\00:40:23.22 because I figure we're going to make it 00:40:23.32\00:40:25.52 'cause God wants you to go speak somewhere. " 00:40:25.72\00:40:27.96 And I said: "I wish that was always true, but I know a few 00:40:31.73\00:40:35.66 missionaries didn't make it to their destination. " 00:40:35.96\00:40:38.53 So... But God said to Paul. He said: "Look, you've got to go 00:40:40.04\00:40:43.07 to Caesar. " And Paul said: "Well, Lord, since I'm going to 00:40:43.17\00:40:45.27 make it I'm interceding for everybody else on the boat. " 00:40:45.37\00:40:49.04 Now Paul is doing what Jesus is doing. 00:40:50.25\00:40:52.45 And he says to them... verse 22: 00:40:52.75\00:40:55.38 "Now I urge you to take heart; be encouraged. 00:40:55.78\00:40:59.09 There is going to be no loss of life for you 00:40:59.29\00:41:00.96 but only the ship. " Ship's going to be lost. 00:41:01.26\00:41:04.13 All the stuff is going to be lost. 00:41:04.43\00:41:06.16 Only thing that's going to be saved is you. 00:41:06.46\00:41:09.03 Nothing in this world is going out of this world but people. 00:41:10.30\00:41:13.27 Amen! 00:41:13.57\00:41:14.90 We spend an awful lot of time worried about our stuff. 00:41:15.07\00:41:17.11 None of it's going to make it. Amen! 00:41:17.31\00:41:19.11 All of it's going to get burned up. Amen! 00:41:19.31\00:41:21.64 I know we need to occupy till Jesus comes 00:41:21.78\00:41:23.65 and we need to take care of things, 00:41:23.85\00:41:25.25 but when you really keep perspective 00:41:25.75\00:41:27.92 nothing is going to eternity except characters transformed 00:41:28.02\00:41:31.35 by the power of Jesus. Even the body you're wearing... 00:41:31.45\00:41:33.82 you're going to get a new one. 00:41:34.02\00:41:35.36 It's only the characters that are going to be transformed. 00:41:35.59\00:41:37.73 "For there stood by me this night an angel of God 00:41:38.03\00:41:41.40 to whom I belong... " Do you belong to that God? 00:41:41.60\00:41:44.40 "saying: 'do not be afraid, Paul. ' " 00:41:45.53\00:41:48.34 Said "Don't be afraid. " Isn't that what Jesus said? 00:41:48.54\00:41:50.57 "Therefore, " Paul says... verse 25: "take heart 00:41:50.97\00:41:53.54 for I believe God. " 00:41:53.74\00:41:55.78 They could believe the captain; they could believe the elements. 00:41:56.08\00:41:58.91 They could believe the wind; they could believe the boat. 00:41:59.11\00:42:01.08 They could trust in all kinds of things. 00:42:01.18\00:42:02.58 Paul said: "My faith isn't in any of that 00:42:02.78\00:42:04.75 but I believe the Word of God 00:42:04.95\00:42:06.55 that it will be just as He told me. 00:42:06.86\00:42:09.89 However, we must run aground on a certain island. " 00:42:10.19\00:42:13.56 The angel told him exactly what was going to happen. 00:42:13.76\00:42:15.36 "But when the fourteenth night had come 00:42:17.00\00:42:19.43 and they were driven up and down in the Adriatic Sea. " 00:42:19.63\00:42:23.20 You know, I did a message on this once before, and I 00:42:23.61\00:42:27.41 took out my map and I tried to track it. They went about 00:42:27.61\00:42:29.58 520 miles going like 37 miles a day. 00:42:29.78\00:42:33.08 They were battered to and fro going everywhere. 00:42:33.38\00:42:35.82 "About the fourteenth night had come; driven up and down 00:42:39.65\00:42:41.96 in the Adriatic Sea about mid- night... " When does it happen? 00:42:42.06\00:42:44.59 The darkest hour. 00:42:44.89\00:42:46.26 "The sailors sensed that they were drawing near some land 00:42:46.56\00:42:49.03 and they took soundings. " 00:42:49.23\00:42:51.90 What that means is they take these ropes. 00:42:52.20\00:42:54.37 They could hear maybe a crashing in the distance 00:42:54.87\00:42:57.31 and they got ropes with weights on them. And the ropes 00:42:57.51\00:42:59.41 have knots in them. You know, and then they would measure 00:42:59.61\00:43:01.71 how fast they were going. They'd say: "I'm going 12 knots; 00:43:01.81\00:43:03.51 five knots. " 'Cause they'd throw out this rope 00:43:03.61\00:43:04.95 and they'd see how quick the knots went out. 00:43:04.98\00:43:06.31 And they also used that to see how deep it was. 00:43:07.32\00:43:09.75 They'd throw out this rope with weight on it. 00:43:09.88\00:43:12.39 They'd drop it out; they'd let it slip from their hands. 00:43:12.59\00:43:14.09 It would pull very fast. When it hit the bottom 00:43:14.19\00:43:15.69 it would stop pulling. They'd measure and see how 00:43:15.89\00:43:17.29 deep it was... how many fathoms it was. 00:43:17.39\00:43:18.96 And they noticed they kept taking soundings 00:43:19.26\00:43:21.46 and it was getting more shallow meaning they were drawing 00:43:21.66\00:43:24.00 near some land. It's night. 00:43:24.20\00:43:26.00 They don't want to crash on the rocks. 00:43:26.20\00:43:27.54 "They took soundings and found it to be 20 fathoms. 00:43:29.04\00:43:31.47 And when they had gone a little further they took soundings 00:43:31.67\00:43:33.48 again and they found it to be 15 fathoms. " 00:43:33.68\00:43:36.21 Are we nearing shore, friends? 00:43:36.44\00:43:38.15 Should we be taking regular soundings where we are 00:43:38.35\00:43:41.38 in the Word of God and in the prophecies? 00:43:41.78\00:43:43.89 Looking at the signs of the times? 00:43:44.39\00:43:46.39 "And then fearing lest we should run aground on the rocks 00:43:47.96\00:43:50.76 they dropped four anchors from the stern and they prayed 00:43:51.06\00:43:53.83 for day to come. And as the sailors were seeking 00:43:54.03\00:43:57.77 to escape from the ship... " You notice it says they dropped 00:43:58.00\00:44:01.50 four anchors from the stern. 00:44:01.70\00:44:03.47 Hold the boat from blowing up into the shore. 00:44:04.97\00:44:08.31 The Bible says there are four angels just before the end 00:44:09.44\00:44:12.45 that are holding back the four winds of strife. 00:44:12.55\00:44:14.88 Talk about a storm in the last days. There is a storm that 00:44:15.18\00:44:17.99 is all pent up and ready to be released on this world. 00:44:18.19\00:44:20.39 And it's God that is holding back those angels 00:44:21.49\00:44:23.96 that are holding back that storm 00:44:24.16\00:44:25.49 lest it blow upon the tree and the land 00:44:25.66\00:44:28.43 until the servants of God are being sealed in their foreheads. 00:44:28.63\00:44:30.87 That would be now. 00:44:31.17\00:44:32.50 People are receiving the Seal of God. 00:44:32.67\00:44:34.54 "And as the sailors seeking to escape from the ship... " 00:44:37.34\00:44:40.84 They said: "You know, this ship is going to wreck 00:44:41.04\00:44:42.38 and there's only one little lifeboat. Why don't we give it 00:44:42.41\00:44:44.48 to the prisoners. Everyone's going to be fighting over the 00:44:44.58\00:44:46.21 lifeboat. " "When they let the lifeboat down... " 00:44:46.31\00:44:49.02 They call it the skiff. "into the sea under pretense 00:44:49.22\00:44:52.52 of putting out anchors... " They act like: "Oh, yeah, we're 00:44:52.62\00:44:54.39 working on the anchors. " Paul saw what they were doing. 00:44:54.49\00:44:56.26 He knew; the Lord revealed it. 00:44:57.39\00:44:59.43 "Paul said to the centurion and the soldiers: 'Unless these 00:44:59.73\00:45:04.23 men stay in the ship you cannot be saved. ' " 00:45:04.33\00:45:06.87 Well that's an interesting statement! 00:45:08.10\00:45:10.31 "Then the soldiers... " Now they're believing Paul! 00:45:10.71\00:45:13.17 They're taking orders from the prisoner. 00:45:13.58\00:45:15.51 "Then the soldiers cut away the ropes 00:45:16.81\00:45:18.65 of the lifeboat... let it fall off. " 00:45:18.85\00:45:20.72 Boy, they're desperate now. 00:45:21.02\00:45:22.38 Now they're not trusting the lifeboat. 00:45:22.68\00:45:24.29 We think we've got ourselves prepared. I've got money in 00:45:25.52\00:45:27.66 the bank; I've got gold hidden away 00:45:27.72\00:45:31.09 in case the money fails. 00:45:31.39\00:45:32.73 Got a hydroelectric system and solar panels 00:45:33.70\00:45:37.27 and lots of soybeans or whatever. 00:45:37.80\00:45:41.04 Your trust better just be in the Lord 00:45:42.84\00:45:44.84 because all that stuff is going to crumble. 00:45:45.14\00:45:47.01 There's nothing that's going to save us like Paul said. 00:45:48.41\00:45:51.01 And you know what else? He basically said: "Unless 00:45:51.21\00:45:53.48 we stay together, we're not going to make it to shore. " 00:45:53.68\00:45:56.38 Amen. 00:45:56.69\00:45:58.02 The devil wants to divide God's people in the last days. 00:45:58.05\00:46:01.59 "Unless these abide in the boat 00:46:01.82\00:46:03.22 none of us are going to be saved. " 00:46:04.56\00:46:06.73 We need to be concerned about all of us staying together. 00:46:07.03\00:46:10.57 Some of us are thinking: "Oh, just let those sailors go. 00:46:11.00\00:46:13.00 They didn't smell right anyway. " 00:46:13.20\00:46:14.77 "And when he had said these things he took bread... " 00:46:17.17\00:46:20.08 I'm sorry... verse 33: 00:46:20.28\00:46:22.84 "And day was about to dawn, Paul implored them all to 00:46:23.24\00:46:27.52 take food. 'Today is the four- teenth day and you have waited 00:46:27.72\00:46:30.72 and continued without food eating nothing. ' " 00:46:30.82\00:46:32.95 They had been fasting for a long time. 00:46:33.25\00:46:35.19 "Therefore I urge you: take nourishment. " 00:46:36.46\00:46:38.63 You know why they weren't eating anything? 00:46:38.83\00:46:40.16 Have you ever been in a storm like that? 00:46:40.23\00:46:41.76 You don't have much appetite when you're seasick. 00:46:42.60\00:46:44.70 And it's hard to cook on a boat that's pitching and reeling 00:46:46.63\00:46:49.47 and diving and plunging and jumping up and down. 00:46:49.67\00:46:52.37 They didn't even have time to eat. 00:46:52.67\00:46:54.08 Says... Paul said: "You need strength. 00:46:55.64\00:46:57.71 This is for your survival. " 00:46:58.01\00:47:00.08 Says: "Not a hair will fall from the head of any of you. " 00:47:00.48\00:47:04.39 I've never taken much comfort in the last part of that verse. 00:47:05.69\00:47:08.29 "And when he said these things he took bread and he gave thanks 00:47:13.13\00:47:16.16 to God in the presence of them all. And when they had broken it 00:47:16.36\00:47:19.07 he began to eat. And they were all encouraged 00:47:19.27\00:47:23.04 and they took food for themselves. " 00:47:23.24\00:47:24.87 Just before the storm breaks... I emphasized this a little 00:47:25.61\00:47:28.88 yesterday. That's why Noah stored food away on the ark. 00:47:28.98\00:47:31.81 You need to eat bread. 00:47:32.21\00:47:34.18 "Man doesn't live by bread alone but by every word. " 00:47:34.48\00:47:37.49 Now's when we need to be feasting on the Word of God. 00:47:37.52\00:47:41.02 You know, hummingbirds... 00:47:42.09\00:47:43.43 Some of you saw a little Amazing Facts we put out 00:47:43.59\00:47:45.69 there on hummingbirds. 00:47:45.89\00:47:47.63 And it's interesting that hummingbirds... they have to eat 00:47:47.93\00:47:50.07 their body weight just about every day 00:47:50.17\00:47:52.80 'cause they've got an incredibly-fast metabolism. 00:47:53.00\00:47:54.90 They'll die of low blood sugar if they don't eat for about 00:47:55.20\00:47:57.91 20 minutes of flying. 00:47:58.01\00:47:59.37 Except for one time in their life: 00:47:59.67\00:48:01.61 for a week in the Fall they gorge on nectar 00:48:01.91\00:48:06.75 and millions of hummingbirds then make an epic migration 00:48:07.35\00:48:11.59 where they have to fly with about 20 million wing beats 00:48:11.69\00:48:14.66 across the Gulf of Mexico in one trip. 00:48:14.96\00:48:17.69 How they do it they don't know, but they just... they... 00:48:17.99\00:48:20.63 they gorge is the only word I can think of. 00:48:20.83\00:48:24.27 They just eat flowers and nectar 00:48:25.13\00:48:28.10 and then they make it to the Yucatan Peninsula. 00:48:28.44\00:48:30.51 And sometimes they get caught in storms and they have to fly 00:48:30.81\00:48:32.84 right through it. There's nowhere to land. 00:48:32.94\00:48:34.41 And that's where they migrate to. 00:48:35.31\00:48:37.78 We are nearing the storm 00:48:38.28\00:48:41.28 and now's when we really need to be fortifying our minds 00:48:41.78\00:48:45.42 with the truth of God's Word. 00:48:45.52\00:48:46.86 We need to be prepared to give an answer for what we believe. 00:48:46.89\00:48:49.16 We need to be reading our Bibles. 00:48:49.56\00:48:50.99 We need to do Bible memorization in our churches, 00:48:51.09\00:48:53.46 in our families. Feasting on the Word 00:48:53.56\00:48:56.30 to get us through the storm. 00:48:56.60\00:48:57.93 Paul said: "I urge you to take nourishment. This is for 00:48:57.97\00:49:00.94 your survival. " He prayed, they ate, and they were all 00:49:01.04\00:49:04.74 encouraged. It'll encourage you 00:49:04.94\00:49:07.08 to eat the Bread of Life. Amen! 00:49:07.38\00:49:09.71 "Now all... " There were 276 people on this ship. 00:49:10.08\00:49:15.28 You know, they found a boat in 34 AD 00:49:16.65\00:49:19.42 that was made by Caligula. 00:49:19.72\00:49:22.72 Some people say "No, they could never had had boats 00:49:23.02\00:49:24.79 that big. " There by the Leonardo da Vinci airport 00:49:24.89\00:49:27.76 in Rome they need to expand the airport 00:49:27.86\00:49:29.63 and in digging up they found an ancient ship of Caligula 00:49:29.83\00:49:33.34 that was over 380 ft. long 00:49:33.54\00:49:36.81 and it carried 600 to 800 soldiers on it. 00:49:37.11\00:49:42.44 Yeah, they had boats that big. 00:49:42.68\00:49:44.28 Now just notice this: 276 people on the ship. 00:49:44.58\00:49:48.82 "When they had eaten enough they threw out the rest of the 00:49:49.12\00:49:51.55 wheat in the sea. " They threw everything overboard. 00:49:51.65\00:49:53.76 Some day you won't have your Bibles, friends. 00:49:53.86\00:49:55.19 You'll just have what's in you. 00:49:55.29\00:49:56.79 That's all they had left. 00:49:56.99\00:49:58.33 "And now when it was day they did not recognize the land 00:49:58.39\00:50:01.63 but they observed a bay... a beach into which they planned 00:50:01.93\00:50:05.20 to run the boat if possible. 00:50:05.30\00:50:06.84 And so they let go the anchors up from the sea. 00:50:07.14\00:50:10.81 Meanwhile, loosing the rudder ropes they hoisted the main sail 00:50:11.04\00:50:14.08 and they made a run for shore. 00:50:14.28\00:50:16.24 But they came into a place where two seas met. " 00:50:16.44\00:50:19.35 The seas came around the island and they clashed. 00:50:19.55\00:50:21.75 "And they ran the ship aground 00:50:22.05\00:50:24.05 and the bow, the prow, stuck fast 00:50:24.25\00:50:26.22 and remained immoveable but the stern was being broken up 00:50:26.42\00:50:28.92 by the violence of the waves. " 00:50:29.12\00:50:30.46 Waves were crashing beating it back and forth. 00:50:30.49\00:50:32.33 The nose is stuck. "Now the soldiers plan 00:50:32.53\00:50:35.23 was to kill the prisoners lest any of them should swim away 00:50:35.33\00:50:38.83 and escape. " They were all going to be executed. 00:50:38.93\00:50:41.94 A Roman soldier cannot lose a prisoner. 00:50:42.24\00:50:44.71 You remember what happened when Peter escaped from jail? 00:50:45.77\00:50:47.68 Herod killed the soldiers that let him get away. 00:50:47.88\00:50:51.08 "But the centurion wanting to save Paul 00:50:51.98\00:50:54.22 for Paul's sake kept them from their purpose. " 00:50:54.42\00:50:58.25 Paul on that ship kept everybody else alive. 00:50:58.65\00:51:01.42 He's a type of Christ. 00:51:02.36\00:51:03.83 If Jesus is in your boat, that's what keeps us alive. 00:51:04.69\00:51:08.26 And God wants to do through you what He did through Paul. 00:51:08.36\00:51:11.37 He wants to save others through you. Amen! 00:51:11.67\00:51:14.50 Everybody in the boat ends up being saved. 00:51:14.64\00:51:16.30 It's an amazing story! 00:51:16.50\00:51:17.84 "Wanting to save Paul kept them from their purpose 00:51:18.01\00:51:21.68 and commanded that those who should swim 00:51:21.88\00:51:24.31 jump overboard first and get to land. 00:51:24.51\00:51:26.85 The rest, some on boards and some on broken pieces of 00:51:27.18\00:51:30.79 the ship. So they all escaped safely to land. " 00:51:30.89\00:51:35.66 Not one was lost just as Paul said 00:51:35.86\00:51:38.63 because they had listened to the Word of God. 00:51:39.96\00:51:41.36 You know, I believe that our church is nearing the end. 00:51:41.56\00:51:47.17 I think we're going to encounter a severe storm 00:51:47.44\00:51:50.01 and we're going to end up where I don't believe a church 00:51:51.37\00:51:55.88 as an organization is going to be able to function 00:51:56.01\00:51:58.41 in the last days. 00:51:58.71\00:52:00.05 That just stands to reason. 00:52:00.12\00:52:01.52 So what are we going to do? 00:52:02.48\00:52:03.95 We're going to be gathering in little groups 00:52:05.15\00:52:07.49 clinging to whatever pieces of the ship are left 00:52:07.79\00:52:09.79 after we come out the other side of the storm 00:52:10.09\00:52:11.83 and we're going to be making for the shore. 00:52:12.03\00:52:14.00 Amen. And the reason that Paul 00:52:14.30\00:52:17.50 was on that ship is God wanted to save others through him. 00:52:17.80\00:52:21.74 Then he gets to the island. He's building a fire 00:52:22.04\00:52:25.17 and trying to warm everybody. 00:52:25.47\00:52:27.21 Here, I mean, he's done all this to save everybody. 00:52:27.41\00:52:29.01 Paul is serving. He's building a fire; he's carrying the wood 00:52:29.21\00:52:32.58 'cause they're shivering. It's raining. 00:52:32.68\00:52:34.02 And a viper comes out and bites him on the hand. 00:52:34.92\00:52:37.15 A deadly viper. 00:52:38.22\00:52:39.55 And when Jesus said "You'll pick up snakes" 00:52:39.89\00:52:41.69 that's what He's talking about. He doesn't mean you go 00:52:41.89\00:52:43.22 looking for them. It means you take them up. 00:52:43.32\00:52:44.66 He shook it off into the fire. 00:52:44.69\00:52:46.83 The serpent was destroyed; the devil still tried to get him. 00:52:47.13\00:52:49.26 And all the people watching said: "Oh, boy, justice. 00:52:50.30\00:52:52.83 You know he must have been a terrible murderer 00:52:53.03\00:52:54.60 or something because he survived the storm and now 00:52:54.90\00:52:56.50 the viper gets him. " But nothing happened to Paul. 00:52:56.60\00:52:59.67 "No deadly thing will harm you. " Amen! 00:53:00.34\00:53:02.54 And then they said: "Well maybe he's a god! " 00:53:02.68\00:53:04.68 And Paul then prayed for and healed one of the leaders 00:53:05.88\00:53:08.58 on the island. And then they brought all the people 00:53:08.68\00:53:10.35 on the island and he prayed for and healed them. 00:53:10.55\00:53:12.35 All the time everybody on the ship and everybody on the island 00:53:12.59\00:53:15.16 started looking to Paul as God's messenger 00:53:15.36\00:53:17.63 and there was a revival on the island of Malta. 00:53:17.83\00:53:19.89 And there are still Christians there today 00:53:20.00\00:53:21.63 all these years later. 00:53:21.93\00:53:23.26 And God used the storm to save these people. 00:53:23.53\00:53:26.87 Amen! You know, our greatest opportunity 00:53:27.17\00:53:29.87 to witness is going to be through the storm. 00:53:30.07\00:53:32.51 Amen! And He wants us to let our light shine. 00:53:32.71\00:53:35.54 This world is in darkness. 00:53:35.74\00:53:37.08 I remember reading a few years ago about a young girl 00:53:38.28\00:53:40.85 named Ida Lewis. 00:53:41.05\00:53:42.88 She was the daughter of a man named Captain Hosea Lewis 00:53:43.18\00:53:46.09 who took care of the Lime Rock Lighthouse 00:53:46.29\00:53:48.99 near Newport, Long Island. 00:53:49.02\00:53:51.03 This was in the 1850's. Captain Lewis had a stroke 00:53:51.43\00:53:55.66 but his family business was taking care of the lighthouse 00:53:55.86\00:53:58.27 so they had no other income. 00:53:58.47\00:53:59.83 They said: "Ida can do it. " She was 14 years old 00:54:00.04\00:54:02.04 at the time. They had several other children. 00:54:02.14\00:54:04.24 Mrs. Lewis took care of the father. 00:54:04.54\00:54:07.71 Ida did most of the work. She kept the light burning 00:54:07.91\00:54:09.91 in the lighthouse. She kept the window clean. 00:54:10.11\00:54:11.61 She made all the runs. She'd have to row her brothers 00:54:11.81\00:54:15.05 and sisters in this big rowboat that they had - 00:54:15.15\00:54:17.59 14-year-old girl - back and forth to school 00:54:17.79\00:54:20.96 200 yards each way. 00:54:21.22\00:54:22.99 And that's like 800 yards round trip 00:54:23.93\00:54:26.96 doing it twice a day plus the miles around 00:54:27.06\00:54:29.56 the harbor there near Newport. 00:54:29.76\00:54:32.93 And many times there were people who had problems 00:54:33.34\00:54:37.04 in the harbor. Their boats would capsize 00:54:37.27\00:54:39.47 and because of their vantage point Ida would go out. 00:54:39.77\00:54:43.14 This little girl... and she'd save them. 00:54:43.45\00:54:44.78 One time four sailors capsized their boat. 00:54:45.75\00:54:48.08 Some of them couldn't swim, and the water was icy. 00:54:48.28\00:54:50.92 Ida went out. She rescued them all. 00:54:51.12\00:54:52.85 Sixteen years old at the time, and the sailors were so 00:54:53.05\00:54:55.42 embarrassed that they had to get rescued by this 00:54:55.52\00:54:57.69 16-year-old girl. 00:54:58.09\00:54:59.93 Another time a boat capsized that was carrying 00:55:00.73\00:55:04.10 somebody's prized sheep. And the men were trying to get 00:55:04.30\00:55:06.40 the sheep out and they nearly drowned. 00:55:06.50\00:55:08.04 She went and rescued them and then she went back 00:55:08.14\00:55:09.47 and she got the sheep. 00:55:09.54\00:55:10.87 Sometimes she was towing other boats. 00:55:11.14\00:55:12.77 And she was so strong for a little girl. 00:55:12.97\00:55:14.88 That boat was like an extension of her body. 00:55:15.18\00:55:17.25 She was just using it every day. 00:55:17.45\00:55:19.05 Then there was a really terrible storm one night 00:55:20.15\00:55:22.48 and a boat capsized out in the bay in the dark. 00:55:22.82\00:55:25.32 Water was frozen. Ida was sick 00:55:25.52\00:55:28.36 but her mother said: "A boat's just gone over. " 00:55:28.66\00:55:31.29 And Captain Lewis couldn't do it. Ida went out 00:55:31.69\00:55:35.36 in her bare feet terribly sick. 00:55:35.56\00:55:37.97 She rowed out. She rescued three of the men. 00:55:38.17\00:55:41.47 One boy drowned. 00:55:41.67\00:55:43.10 And she made the cover of Harper News back then... 00:55:43.41\00:55:45.77 which was the big magazine. 00:55:45.87\00:55:47.54 Ida Lewis and her lifeboat. 00:55:47.64\00:55:49.54 And after that it tells us that everybody heard about Ida. 00:55:49.94\00:55:54.32 Presidents came to visit her. 00:55:54.52\00:55:55.85 She had lots of marriage proposals. 00:55:55.88\00:55:57.79 She took care of that lighthouse for many years. 00:55:59.85\00:56:04.29 And at one point they wanted to give her 00:56:05.69\00:56:10.97 a reward. It says: "She became a national heroine. 00:56:11.17\00:56:15.57 Ida received fan mail from the rich and famous. 00:56:15.77\00:56:17.97 Even President Ulysses S. Grant went to visit her. 00:56:18.07\00:56:20.91 She also received quite a few marriage proposals. 00:56:21.94\00:56:24.08 New York gave her a mahogany rowboat with red velvet cushions 00:56:24.38\00:56:27.42 and gold braid around the gun walls 00:56:27.52\00:56:29.42 and gold-plated oar locks. 00:56:29.62\00:56:31.35 The boat was named "The Rescue. " 00:56:31.65\00:56:33.42 Over the 50 years that Ida tended the lighthouse 00:56:33.92\00:56:37.09 this small woman rescued at least 18 people 00:56:37.39\00:56:40.23 from the cold and often treacherous waters off Lime 00:56:40.43\00:56:43.70 Rock. Unofficially, the number was much higher. 00:56:44.00\00:56:46.07 When she died in 1911 00:56:46.37\00:56:48.44 every ship bell in Newport tolled all night long. 00:56:48.64\00:56:51.37 The Bible tells us that the ship is supposed to be 00:56:52.87\00:56:56.38 something of a lifeboat. 00:56:56.48\00:56:58.05 We're like a lighthouse. 00:56:58.35\00:57:00.18 We're to be reaching out and to save others 00:57:00.48\00:57:03.69 and bringing them back. 00:57:04.19\00:57:05.52 There's going to be storms in life, 00:57:05.55\00:57:06.92 but the Lord wants us to know if He's in our boat we have 00:57:08.09\00:57:10.33 nothing to be afraid of. Amen! 00:57:10.43\00:57:12.29 God wants us to be reaching others. 00:57:12.46\00:57:14.50 Because Jonah was in the boat people were saved. 00:57:14.70\00:57:16.87 When Jesus was in the boat others were saved. 00:57:17.07\00:57:18.83 When Paul was in the boat others were saved. 00:57:19.03\00:57:20.60 Because Noah was in the boat others were saved. 00:57:20.80\00:57:22.44 If Christ is in your boat, then He wants to use you 00:57:23.44\00:57:26.98 to reach others. Amen! Is that your desire, friends? 00:57:27.18\00:57:29.81
