Hello friends. Welcome to 3ABN's Fall Camp Meeting. 00:00:48.77\00:00:51.89 We have just received a wonderful blessing from 00:00:52.00\00:00:54.61 Pastor Doug Batchelor. And if you're just joining us, 00:00:54.71\00:00:57.33 you missed it. But if you're coming back, welcome back. 00:00:57.53\00:00:59.73 Let's welcome them back with a hearty amen. Can we do that? 00:00:59.93\00:01:02.10 Amen! This is the hour that many of you have been wondering about 00:01:02.30\00:01:07.21 because Pastor Batchelor has for a number of years 00:01:07.42\00:01:10.59 been hosting Bible Answers Live. 00:01:10.79\00:01:13.06 And I had the privilege when I was in northern California to 00:01:13.26\00:01:15.42 participate in a number of programs together on the radio 00:01:15.62\00:01:18.75 and I'll tell you a little bit more about that in just a moment 00:01:18.95\00:01:21.56 but this is the hour where he's going to be answering 00:01:21.66\00:01:24.64 Bible questions. Now earlier these questions 00:01:24.84\00:01:28.53 were sent. From Facebook we had put the announcements out 00:01:28.73\00:01:31.24 and quite a few questions came in. 00:01:31.34\00:01:33.60 Some people wrote questions earlier today that I was able 00:01:33.90\00:01:36.65 to get into the stack. But you want to stay by 00:01:36.75\00:01:39.87 because Pastor Batchelor enjoys answering Bible questions 00:01:40.07\00:01:43.86 and I'll have the joy of asking those questions. 00:01:44.15\00:01:47.04 I'll try my best not to answer them either 00:01:47.24\00:01:49.90 because I'll tell you what that's all about. 00:01:50.10\00:01:52.66 But before we go into the next hour 00:01:52.86\00:01:55.60 we're going to invite the Lord's presence, and then 00:01:55.90\00:01:58.66 I've been asked to sing a song that really simply says 00:01:58.86\00:02:01.98 turn our eyes upon Jesus. Trust His Word, as we're 00:02:02.18\00:02:04.68 going to see how important it is to trust God's Word. 00:02:04.78\00:02:07.79 And then the next voice that you will hear will be that of 00:02:07.99\00:02:10.76 Pastor Doug Batchelor. Father in heaven, thank you 00:02:10.86\00:02:13.56 for Your Word, which is always a lamp unto our feet 00:02:13.66\00:02:15.77 and a light unto our path. 00:02:16.07\00:02:17.70 May we have such a connection with You that Your Word 00:02:17.90\00:02:22.02 becomes our daily desire and our food. 00:02:22.22\00:02:26.57 Nourish us, Father, as we continue trusting You. 00:02:26.87\00:02:29.48 In Jesus' name, Amen. 00:02:29.69\00:02:32.98 O soul 00:02:53.71\00:02:56.57 are you weary and troubled? 00:02:56.87\00:03:01.62 No light 00:03:02.49\00:03:04.63 in the darkness 00:03:04.83\00:03:06.87 you see? 00:03:07.27\00:03:10.49 There's life 00:03:11.44\00:03:14.11 for a look at the Savior, 00:03:14.31\00:03:19.66 And there's life more abundant 00:03:20.06\00:03:24.14 and free! 00:03:24.34\00:03:27.82 Turn your eyes 00:03:29.94\00:03:33.36 upon Jesus, 00:03:33.46\00:03:37.14 Look full in 00:03:37.71\00:03:39.74 His wonderful face; 00:03:39.94\00:03:44.69 And the things of earth 00:03:45.47\00:03:48.87 will grow strangely dim 00:03:49.07\00:03:54.63 In the light 00:03:55.77\00:03:58.42 of His glory 00:03:58.62\00:04:01.09 and grace. 00:04:01.19\00:04:06.72 His word 00:04:18.51\00:04:21.31 will not fail you for He's promised; 00:04:21.41\00:04:26.50 Believe it 00:04:27.10\00:04:28.74 and all will be well: 00:04:28.94\00:04:34.11 Then go 00:04:34.51\00:04:36.06 to a world that is dying 00:04:36.46\00:04:41.56 with His perfect salvation 00:04:42.33\00:04:46.07 to tell! 00:04:46.47\00:04:51.08 Turn your eyes upon Jesus, 00:04:52.97\00:04:58.95 Look full in 00:04:59.35\00:05:01.82 His wonderful face; 00:05:02.03\00:05:06.04 And the things of earth 00:05:08.04\00:05:12.25 will grow strangely dim 00:05:12.55\00:05:18.03 In the light 00:05:19.54\00:05:22.18 of His glory and grace... 00:05:22.59\00:05:28.53 In the light 00:05:30.44\00:05:33.13 of His glory 00:05:33.43\00:05:36.29 and grace... 00:05:36.49\00:05:42.47 In the light of God's 00:05:45.63\00:05:49.53 glory 00:05:49.73\00:05:52.12 and grace. 00:05:52.52\00:05:58.45 Amen. 00:06:03.27\00:06:05.29 I'd like to invite Pastor Doug Batchelor to come and join us. 00:06:05.89\00:06:08.94 It seems so long since we've seen him. 00:06:10.66\00:06:13.53 Have you noticed that? You feel that? 00:06:13.73\00:06:15.73 It's been a long time. We have a rich history together, 00:06:16.13\00:06:20.82 which I'm not going to spend a lot of time because we have 00:06:21.12\00:06:23.12 quite a few questions. But I just want to say 00:06:23.23\00:06:25.66 for those of you that don't know: I received my beginning, 00:06:25.97\00:06:28.81 my start in ministry, in northern California 00:06:29.01\00:06:31.69 when Pastor Doug invited me 00:06:31.79\00:06:33.61 to come to the Northern California Conference 00:06:33.82\00:06:35.82 to begin my pastoral ministry with him in evangelism. 00:06:36.03\00:06:39.04 And that was back in 1987 00:06:39.24\00:06:40.92 when... when both of us had black hair. 00:06:41.22\00:06:45.65 If I were thinking earlier I would have shown that picture 00:06:52.72\00:06:56.18 that we took way back in 1987 00:06:56.28\00:06:58.30 when we began in Vallejo. He had a lot more hair... 00:06:58.50\00:07:00.79 we both were younger. But God has been gracious to us 00:07:01.09\00:07:05.75 because by God's grace we're still here today. Amen. 00:07:05.95\00:07:08.29 And I'm looking forward to this. 00:07:08.49\00:07:10.15 And we did Bible questions before a number of times - 00:07:10.55\00:07:13.68 oh yeah - so I'm going to rest tonight. I'm going to 00:07:13.78\00:07:15.37 try my best... but I'm not guaranteeing that I'm going to 00:07:15.48\00:07:18.08 resist unto death. 'Cause sometimes I would ask a question 00:07:18.28\00:07:24.21 to Doug, and he answers it really well, but there's always 00:07:24.51\00:07:28.92 an answer in my head too. 00:07:29.02\00:07:30.48 So these questions... we're not going to get through all of them 00:07:30.78\00:07:33.38 but let me go ahead and give you the 1st one. Are you ready? 00:07:33.48\00:07:35.30 All right. This is from Ohio. 00:07:35.50\00:07:37.46 In the Old Testament there was a great significance 00:07:37.66\00:07:40.50 placed on blessing the first-born son 00:07:40.60\00:07:43.47 as in the case of Isaac blessing Jacob and Esau. 00:07:43.77\00:07:47.73 Does that have any relevance to us today? 00:07:48.13\00:07:51.30 Well, I think... Yes it does, but I think 00:07:51.80\00:07:54.28 in particular it's important to bless your children. 00:07:54.38\00:07:57.64 And this was a very solemn time when parents would confer this 00:07:58.14\00:08:02.67 blessing. In particular with the patriarchs, 00:08:02.78\00:08:05.90 they knew that the Messiah was going to come through 00:08:06.10\00:08:08.55 their line. And so the blessing that Jacob basically stole 00:08:08.65\00:08:11.79 from Esau was not the blessing so much of the first-born 00:08:11.89\00:08:14.80 inheritance. The first-born used to get a double inheritance. 00:08:14.90\00:08:17.44 He wanted the spiritual blessing that the Messiah 00:08:17.84\00:08:20.79 would come through his line. 00:08:20.89\00:08:22.39 And so that's why it says that Jacob was interested 00:08:22.69\00:08:25.96 in the spiritual side. Esau... he was more interested 00:08:26.16\00:08:30.36 in the beans, you remember, when he sold his birthright. 00:08:30.57\00:08:32.60 When Jacob came back into the Promised Land 00:08:33.10\00:08:35.31 he gave his brother a lot of tangible gifts 00:08:35.71\00:08:38.70 to show I'm not after Dad's inheritance. 00:08:38.73\00:08:40.96 'Cause Isaac was still alive. He wanted the spiritual blessing. 00:08:41.26\00:08:44.51 OK. Why did the God of the Old Testament have whole tribes 00:08:46.22\00:08:51.36 put to death? I know God is a loving and caring God 00:08:51.56\00:08:54.56 but this puzzles me. 00:08:54.86\00:08:56.94 God in the New Testament does also. 00:08:57.34\00:08:59.53 What I mean by that is Jesus is the same God as the Old 00:08:59.93\00:09:02.71 Testament. Jesus said: "Then all of the tribes of 00:09:02.81\00:09:06.09 the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man 00:09:06.19\00:09:08.78 coming in the clouds of heaven. " 00:09:08.88\00:09:10.18 There's going to be a lot of tribes that die 00:09:10.39\00:09:12.53 in heaven. [sic] During the flood were there 00:09:12.73\00:09:16.37 a lot of people that died? 00:09:16.47\00:09:17.92 Now people especially think about when God told Saul 00:09:18.42\00:09:22.18 to go and to basically annihilate the Amalekites. 00:09:22.38\00:09:25.61 You just need to know that this was a people that had 00:09:26.01\00:09:28.35 vowed to the destruction of Israel. 00:09:28.55\00:09:31.28 They were full of disease, child sacrifice 00:09:31.58\00:09:34.48 and all kinds of abominations. You think of all the abominable 00:09:34.59\00:09:37.21 that God told them not to do - the Israelites - not to do... 00:09:37.31\00:09:40.68 the Amalekites did it all. 00:09:40.98\00:09:42.56 Plus they're the ones who attacked the children of Israel 00:09:42.86\00:09:45.30 when they came out of Egypt from behind. 00:09:45.50\00:09:47.05 The children and the elderly and the weak. 00:09:47.25\00:09:50.37 And they were at constant war. 00:09:50.67\00:09:52.54 And so also in order to prevent intermarriage 00:09:52.74\00:09:55.95 God said to Saul and some of the kings, He said: 00:09:56.15\00:09:59.30 "You're to attack and annihilate. " 00:09:59.40\00:10:00.90 He told Joshua for the people of Jericho - 00:10:01.10\00:10:03.45 the only ones who were spared were those in Rahab's house - 00:10:03.75\00:10:06.41 to attack and annihilate them. 00:10:06.61\00:10:08.16 It's because their offspring would vow to continue the battle 00:10:08.36\00:10:12.74 of their parents and there would have never been any peace. 00:10:12.84\00:10:15.69 I know it sounds brutal, 00:10:15.79\00:10:17.21 but that's just how it was when they were at war. 00:10:17.42\00:10:19.50 Could I add something? Nope! OK... Go ahead. 00:10:19.80\00:10:23.51 We had a Bible question/answer period in Sacramento Carmichael. 00:10:24.76\00:10:28.11 I never forgot that because I kept on butting in and 00:10:28.31\00:10:31.46 answering. Doug said: "John, you ask the questions; 00:10:31.56\00:10:34.09 I answer them. " He said: "Besides, you look like 00:10:34.19\00:10:36.97 a Volkswagen with its doors open. " 00:10:37.07\00:10:39.58 And I said: "And you look like a convertible with the top down. " 00:10:39.88\00:10:43.01 And there was no more sanity beyond that point. 00:10:43.41\00:10:46.81 But just to add this other point: what a lot of people 00:10:47.01\00:10:49.60 don't know is that more people are going to die in the... 00:10:49.70\00:10:52.62 in the destruction of the wicked in hell than died in the 00:10:52.82\00:10:56.10 Old Testament. Oh yeah. So the worst is yet to come 00:10:56.20\00:10:59.34 and it's the same God. Yep. All right. Could I go on? Yes. 00:10:59.64\00:11:01.93 Seven last plagues. 00:11:02.03\00:11:03.52 Is it a sin to eat unclean foods or simply a poor health choice 00:11:05.98\00:11:11.34 like eating sugar and drinking caffeine? 00:11:11.54\00:11:13.67 Well, it would be a sin for me 00:11:14.07\00:11:16.20 because sin is knowing to do good and not doing it. 00:11:16.40\00:11:19.18 There'll be people in heaven that had several wives 00:11:19.78\00:11:23.63 at one time. Is that right? 00:11:23.73\00:11:26.13 Jacob and David and Abraham. 00:11:26.53\00:11:28.49 Well... Abraham... he kind of meandered. 00:11:28.69\00:11:31.81 Well, yeah. He actually put away Hagar. But 00:11:31.95\00:11:34.49 Solomon. They lived in a time where God winked at their 00:11:35.99\00:11:39.75 ignorance 'cause they did not know. 00:11:39.85\00:11:41.77 But when a person knows what the Bible says on any particular 00:11:41.97\00:11:45.02 truth and you persist in high-handed rebellion... 00:11:45.12\00:11:49.47 If we continue to sin willfully after we've received 00:11:49.97\00:11:53.34 the knowledge of the truth - that's Hebrews 10:26- 00:11:53.44\00:11:56.01 there remains no more sacrifice for sin. 00:11:56.21\00:11:58.98 And so if a person persists willingly in any known sin - 00:11:59.38\00:12:03.24 and you know, we all struggle with sin and temptation 00:12:03.44\00:12:05.18 but I mean you just resign yourself to sin - 00:12:05.38\00:12:06.81 that's dangerous. Whether it's, you know, eating pork 00:12:07.92\00:12:10.29 or whatever it is. When you know what God says 00:12:10.49\00:12:11.89 about something and you persist in doing what you know is wrong. 00:12:11.99\00:12:15.49 Yeah, it could be... Yeah. You know, if you're... 00:12:16.94\00:12:20.02 It could be sugar. 00:12:20.72\00:12:22.41 I'm not going to scare you. Well, you know, some people 00:12:25.35\00:12:27.42 have diabetes. And the doctor says: "Don't do this, 00:12:27.52\00:12:30.52 it's going to kill you. " And you say: "I don't care 00:12:30.72\00:12:31.99 what the doctor says. " 00:12:32.10\00:12:33.57 The Bible says: "Thou shalt not kill. " 00:12:34.74\00:12:36.18 That would include yourself, right? 00:12:36.28\00:12:39.08 Some people are killing them- selves with all kinds of things. 00:12:39.32\00:12:41.39 This is a pretty long question so I'm going to try to get right 00:12:41.89\00:12:45.06 through this. I have been watching you 00:12:45.16\00:12:46.93 on and off for years now. Let's see, here's the other one. 00:12:47.03\00:12:52.09 I have a problem with your teaching that Jesus was 00:12:52.39\00:12:55.00 crucified on Friday. If so, it makes Jesus out to be a liar 00:12:55.10\00:12:58.98 because if He was raised on Sunday then from Friday night 00:12:59.18\00:13:01.92 to Saturday night would be one day 00:13:02.02\00:13:03.98 and Saturday night to Sunday night would be two days. 00:13:04.08\00:13:07.00 How can this fulfill the three days and three nights 00:13:07.20\00:13:10.68 in the grave as He predicted? 00:13:10.89\00:13:12.91 This causes me to believe that Jesus was crucified on 00:13:13.21\00:13:15.21 Wednesday fulfilling the three days and three nights. 00:13:15.41\00:13:17.26 This is a common question that we get. 00:13:18.79\00:13:20.42 There's only one statement in Matthew chapter 12 00:13:20.72\00:13:23.11 where He says in verse 40: 00:13:23.31\00:13:25.71 "As Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly 00:13:25.92\00:13:28.39 of the great fish, the Son of Man will be three days 00:13:28.49\00:13:30.24 and three nights in the heart of the earth. " 00:13:30.44\00:13:31.61 The misunderstanding is what does it mean to be 00:13:31.92\00:13:34.66 in the heart of the earth. 00:13:34.86\00:13:36.87 The word there, heart, is cardia. The word earth 00:13:37.17\00:13:39.29 is talking about the world. 00:13:39.39\00:13:40.93 It's not talking about Jesus' time in the tomb. 00:13:41.33\00:13:44.39 It's talking about Jesus' time suffering for the 00:13:44.79\00:13:47.74 sins of the world... which began Thursday night. 00:13:47.84\00:13:50.80 Christ Himself said: "Now is the hour. " 00:13:51.00\00:13:53.44 And God withdrew Himself from Him. 00:13:53.84\00:13:56.40 Christ the third time in the garden said: "Not My will... 00:13:56.60\00:13:58.62 Thy will be done. " 00:13:58.72\00:13:59.80 The Father withdrew His protection. 00:14:00.10\00:14:01.39 The mob came. For the first time when they tried to attack 00:14:01.49\00:14:04.23 Christ the Lord and angels did not protect Him. 00:14:04.33\00:14:06.66 And He was suffering for the sins of the world 00:14:07.65\00:14:09.85 Thursday night, Friday night, Saturday night 00:14:10.05\00:14:11.80 in the heart of the earth... in the clutches of the devil 00:14:11.90\00:14:13.87 and his demons paying the penalty for sin. 00:14:13.97\00:14:16.44 We all assume it means the tomb. 00:14:16.65\00:14:18.49 When you say the Lord's Prayer "Thy will be done 00:14:18.79\00:14:21.52 in earth as it is in heaven, " 00:14:21.72\00:14:23.16 does in earth mean the tomb? 00:14:23.36\00:14:24.87 It means in the world, right? 00:14:25.17\00:14:26.82 It's a common misunderstanding. 00:14:27.12\00:14:28.83 Don't try and change the date for the crucifixion 00:14:29.23\00:14:31.49 because of that verse. And folks get all upset about that. 00:14:31.69\00:14:35.46 And so that's the answer. And plus there's inclusive reckoning 00:14:35.66\00:14:38.94 that I think is very important because any part of the day 00:14:39.04\00:14:42.22 included the whole day. Is he helping answer questions again? 00:14:42.43\00:14:44.47 No, no. And that even though He was crucified, Jesus said, 00:14:44.67\00:14:49.08 He would rise the third day. 00:14:49.28\00:14:50.90 If he had to be there three days and three nights He would be 00:14:51.20\00:14:53.25 rising the fourth day. Think about that. Yep. 00:14:53.35\00:14:55.83 OK. I didn't answer that question. 00:14:56.23\00:14:58.75 This is just a suggestion. 00:14:59.85\00:15:01.67 OK... wasn't an answer. 00:15:02.07\00:15:05.13 Why did God put the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil 00:15:06.15\00:15:09.00 in the Garden of Eden? 00:15:09.20\00:15:10.50 Why is our free-will thinking always evil? 00:15:10.80\00:15:12.97 Before I keep compounding the question... 00:15:13.38\00:15:16.20 Why is the strength of thinking spiritually weaker than 00:15:16.41\00:15:18.82 of thinking evil? If God has decided for me to choose, 00:15:18.92\00:15:23.73 then why is it that He will judge me when I don't choose 00:15:24.03\00:15:27.33 to do His deeds? Wow! 00:15:27.53\00:15:29.19 Well all of the creatures in God's creation 00:15:29.69\00:15:32.79 that have intelligence, creatures made with a free will, 00:15:32.99\00:15:35.63 are able to choose whether or not to trust the Lord. 00:15:36.03\00:15:38.39 The Lord spelled out something very simple. 00:15:38.59\00:15:40.95 He gave Adam and Eve everything that could delight 00:15:41.15\00:15:43.67 their senses for food. He just said... 00:15:43.77\00:15:45.92 And the Tree of Life was right there in the midst of the garden 00:15:46.02\00:15:47.83 also. So He said: "Eat from the Tree of Life 00:15:47.93\00:15:49.31 and do not eat from this tree of disobedience. " 00:15:49.41\00:15:51.53 God said: "If you eat of it, you'll die. " 00:15:51.74\00:15:53.58 And Adam and Eve began to die spiritually 00:15:54.08\00:15:56.28 that very day that they ate it. 00:15:56.38\00:15:58.05 The Bible says a day with the Lord is as a thousand years 00:15:58.90\00:16:01.14 and a thousand years as a day, and no man made it 00:16:01.24\00:16:03.38 to the millennium. They all died in that first millennial day 00:16:03.48\00:16:07.13 you might say. But, so why did God test them like that? 00:16:07.23\00:16:11.28 Because love must be freely given 00:16:11.68\00:16:14.17 and so He was demonstrating they had a free choice. 00:16:14.37\00:16:17.03 And if you choose to serve the Lord 00:16:17.33\00:16:20.35 you can't love Him through force. 00:16:20.65\00:16:22.37 We all must choose to love Him. 00:16:22.57\00:16:24.19 And so He allowed all His creatures to have a test. 00:16:24.69\00:16:27.35 The good news is He didn't tell the devil that 00:16:27.55\00:16:29.34 He could harass Adam and Eve all over the creation. 00:16:29.44\00:16:31.82 He said: "There's only one place 00:16:32.12\00:16:33.30 where he's going to meet with you... 00:16:33.41\00:16:34.93 and avoid this temptation. " 00:16:35.23\00:16:37.47 And when Eve was then lingering nearby the tree 00:16:37.87\00:16:41.15 that's when he launched his assault. 00:16:41.35\00:16:43.00 OK. Let's go to the next one. 00:16:43.40\00:16:45.60 After God created Adam and Eve 00:16:46.10\00:16:48.28 they had children. This always comes up. 00:16:48.48\00:16:50.86 Where did Seth's wife and Cain's wife come from? 00:16:51.06\00:16:53.99 Did God create another family for them 00:16:54.29\00:16:56.35 to procreate with? Or was there inbreeding? 00:16:56.55\00:17:00.59 Well I guess you'd say there's inbreeding 00:17:01.74\00:17:03.66 because the Bible says that Adam and Eve had sons and 00:17:03.96\00:17:06.55 daughters in chapter 5 of Genesis. 00:17:06.66\00:17:09.04 And like I mentioned, if they lived hundreds of years... 00:17:09.34\00:17:11.95 They probably were not in the Garden of Eden very long 00:17:12.35\00:17:15.43 before they fell with sin because they were perfectly 00:17:15.53\00:17:18.42 healthy and they hadn't had any children yet. 00:17:18.52\00:17:20.53 So it wasn't too long after they were created 00:17:21.43\00:17:24.36 when sin happened. 00:17:24.56\00:17:26.47 Adam and Eve were brother and sister... 00:17:26.67\00:17:28.14 you ever think about that? 00:17:28.34\00:17:29.57 Who were their parents? 00:17:29.77\00:17:30.80 Matter of fact it was really kind of weird because 00:17:33.07\00:17:34.85 Eve came out of Adam's rib. 00:17:35.06\00:17:37.19 And that's why it says that any man that loves his wife 00:17:38.12\00:17:40.26 loves his own flesh. 00:17:40.36\00:17:41.80 But it was not a sin at the beginning 00:17:43.22\00:17:46.27 to marry a sibling. It was as time went by 00:17:46.58\00:17:50.42 by the time of Moses with some of the genetic weaknesses 00:17:50.45\00:17:55.13 that you have when families just intermarry 00:17:55.24\00:17:57.17 but Jacob married his cousin. 00:17:57.47\00:17:59.81 Isaac married his cousin. 00:18:00.21\00:18:01.60 Abraham married his sister. 00:18:01.80\00:18:02.93 You start going back and the Bible's really clear. 00:18:03.03\00:18:04.65 They didn't have a problem with it back then 00:18:04.86\00:18:06.58 and there weren't the genetic problems that they have today. 00:18:06.88\00:18:09.70 So you're not suggesting that they marry their cousin? 00:18:11.39\00:18:13.57 No, there's too many genetic problems in the world for that 00:18:13.78\00:18:16.74 right now. This is a question I think I can answer: 00:18:17.04\00:18:21.24 Do dogs go to heaven? 00:18:21.44\00:18:22.77 If they've been really good... no. 00:18:24.34\00:18:25.99 No... I'm hoping "Dougs" go to heaven! 00:18:29.25\00:18:32.44 Dougs go to heaven. That's a question that often comes up. 00:18:32.74\00:18:36.00 Will there be animals in heaven? 00:18:36.10\00:18:37.35 There will be animals in heaven. 00:18:37.46\00:18:39.15 You know, the Bible doesn't say that Jesus died 00:18:39.55\00:18:42.79 to save our pets. I'm just going to be honest with you. 00:18:42.99\00:18:46.37 You know there's nothing... God did speak through a donkey 00:18:46.57\00:18:48.72 and the devil spoke through a snake. But it doesn't say that 00:18:48.92\00:18:50.88 Jesus died to redeem the animals. 00:18:51.08\00:18:53.30 But there will be animals in heaven. 00:18:53.71\00:18:55.25 And it's not beyond the Lord to surprise someone by 00:18:55.55\00:18:58.12 resurrecting a favorite pet and giving them a little 00:18:58.22\00:19:00.46 regenerated animal body. 00:19:00.57\00:19:02.02 And so I don't think you can rule that out 00:19:02.42\00:19:04.57 but you can really teach it dogmatically from the Bible. 00:19:04.87\00:19:07.45 No pun intended... dogmatically. 00:19:07.85\00:19:09.96 I'm glad you got that. 00:19:10.46\00:19:12.04 Does God love Lucifer just as He loves all of us sinners? 00:19:15.03\00:19:20.94 Well God is love. God knows what Lucifer used to be. 00:19:21.09\00:19:24.66 God made Lucifer; we all would have loved him 00:19:24.86\00:19:27.66 then... some still do. 00:19:27.86\00:19:29.81 But God is love. 00:19:30.32\00:19:33.16 Lucifer has no more redeemable qualities. 00:19:33.26\00:19:36.72 In other words, his probation is closed. 00:19:36.92\00:19:39.12 And people say: "If we all pray for the devil, 00:19:39.52\00:19:41.82 will all our problems go away if he repents? " 00:19:42.02\00:19:44.35 That's not going to happen. God is clear. 00:19:44.55\00:19:46.26 Satan knows he has a short time. Revelation 12. 00:19:46.46\00:19:49.13 So God hates sin. The devil is now the embodiment of evil 00:19:49.43\00:19:54.59 so I would think that God hates it. 00:19:54.89\00:19:56.67 Does that make sense? 00:19:57.27\00:19:58.93 Plus... He loves what he used to be but not now. 00:19:59.24\00:20:01.96 And I think: Does God love Lucifer? Yes. He doesn't like 00:20:02.26\00:20:04.79 Satan. OK? Lucifer was before the fall. 00:20:04.89\00:20:08.49 Can't help himself. Amen. 00:20:08.99\00:20:11.61 Right now I'm going through? I feel like I'm on... 00:20:14.06\00:20:16.65 Like gettin' it on in a recovery program. 00:20:16.85\00:20:18.90 Feel like we're in a half-way house right now. 00:20:19.30\00:20:22.94 'Cause we did Bible answers together and I do Bible 00:20:25.64\00:20:28.11 questions too... but I'm trying to be nice tonight. 00:20:28.21\00:20:30.22 Oh John can answer all these questions and we're having fun. 00:20:30.42\00:20:33.31 Not as well as I can, but he can answer them all. 00:20:33.41\00:20:35.32 Doug, this question's from an 8-year-old. 00:20:35.92\00:20:38.07 I think you can answer this one. 00:20:38.27\00:20:39.71 Are angels girls? 00:20:40.11\00:20:42.31 That is an amazing question. 00:20:42.61\00:20:44.23 All right... let's think about this. 00:20:44.43\00:20:46.71 One of the things that separates boys and girls 00:20:47.31\00:20:49.88 is the plumbing. 00:20:50.28\00:20:52.94 And all the times that angels appeared in the Bible 00:20:54.41\00:20:58.28 they always appeared as a man. 00:20:58.58\00:21:00.62 Now you know we did a cosmic conflict program 00:21:01.02\00:21:04.12 some of you saw, and we were short on subs 00:21:04.32\00:21:07.17 and I wasn't there that day and they brought in girls 00:21:07.37\00:21:09.47 and dressed them up as angels. 00:21:09.57\00:21:10.83 And I later reproved the director. 00:21:11.13\00:21:13.19 I mean it was a great program but I said... 00:21:13.29\00:21:15.14 How do you say this delicately? 00:21:16.42\00:21:18.45 Do angels procreate? 00:21:19.72\00:21:21.72 Is the Bible clear on that? 00:21:22.02\00:21:23.06 Angels don't have little baby angels. 00:21:23.16\00:21:25.02 What is the purpose for nursing children? 00:21:25.42\00:21:29.47 Would angels have that apparatus? 00:21:29.87\00:21:32.73 See what I'm saying? 00:21:33.03\00:21:35.07 So it seems strange to me to see girl angels. 00:21:36.39\00:21:40.94 Someone help me... does that make sense? 00:21:42.30\00:21:44.04 Amen. You should have answered that one. OK, OK. 00:21:44.24\00:21:47.79 I was waiting... I was waiting. 00:21:48.23\00:21:49.83 You need to read Ezekiel chapter 1 and 2 as it describes 00:21:50.03\00:21:53.99 angels - seraphim and cherubim. 00:21:54.19\00:21:56.12 Now maybe girls are angels because the description 00:21:56.52\00:22:00.03 of angels in Ezekiel is a creature with four heads. 00:22:00.23\00:22:02.92 Don't take that wrong. 00:22:04.13\00:22:07.20 Face of a man, the face of an ox, face of an eagle 00:22:08.67\00:22:10.82 if you read the description. But when they appear to humanity 00:22:10.92\00:22:13.72 God allows them to appear to us in a form that we can relate to. 00:22:13.83\00:22:17.42 But when we see angels, I'm sure they will appear quite different 00:22:17.82\00:22:21.71 than they look to us in the earth. Yeah, they don't have 00:22:21.91\00:22:24.28 the gender distinctions like we do. Yes. 00:22:24.38\00:22:27.01 Wow! A lot of kids sent some questions. 00:22:28.86\00:22:31.35 If God knew that Satan was going to be evil, 00:22:31.55\00:22:34.10 then why did He create him? 00:22:34.40\00:22:36.47 Why did He not leave him out and not make him? 00:22:36.57\00:22:39.75 Well, it's one of the greatest demonstrations that God is a God 00:22:40.89\00:22:43.73 of love is that He loves us so much 00:22:43.83\00:22:47.05 and He respects our freedom 00:22:47.15\00:22:48.57 that He will not arbitrarily only make those that love Him. 00:22:48.97\00:22:52.68 'Cause that would mean that we're automated robots 00:22:53.18\00:22:54.93 that just say: "I love You God. " 00:22:55.13\00:22:56.59 That would hint that He pre-programmed us where we 00:22:56.79\00:23:00.60 have to love Him or He won't make us. 00:23:00.70\00:23:02.67 And so to prove that He will even make a creature 00:23:03.07\00:23:05.71 that has the freedom to rebel... Just because God knows 00:23:05.91\00:23:08.84 the future does not mean He's always making the future happen. 00:23:09.04\00:23:11.74 There's a difference between knowing everything 00:23:12.14\00:23:14.01 and manipulating things. 00:23:14.31\00:23:15.78 Why would we pray "Thy will be done" if God's will 00:23:16.08\00:23:18.06 is always done? God's will is not always done. 00:23:18.16\00:23:20.74 God is not willing that any should perish, right? 00:23:21.14\00:23:23.99 But will some perish? 00:23:24.22\00:23:25.89 And so just because God knew that Lucifer would fall 00:23:26.39\00:23:28.85 doesn't mean that He made him that way. 00:23:29.05\00:23:30.89 I know that sometimes really makes you put your 00:23:31.40\00:23:34.52 processor in high speed 00:23:34.82\00:23:38.62 trying to grapple with these things. 00:23:38.82\00:23:40.95 Here's one that didn't come in through e-mail but 00:23:41.35\00:23:43.87 it came in earlier and made it in the pile. 00:23:44.07\00:23:46.86 Daniel 4:19. They want to ask the question 00:23:47.17\00:23:50.75 the part of the verse that says: "The dream be to them that 00:23:50.95\00:23:53.89 hate thee. " They said explain that. 00:23:54.10\00:23:56.56 Yeah, well, this is the dream of the tree, 00:23:56.86\00:23:58.63 and Daniel is telling Nebuchadnezzar that you're 00:23:58.83\00:24:01.15 going to be cut down and you're going to be crazy. 00:24:01.25\00:24:03.31 He meant this dream is going to be something 00:24:03.61\00:24:05.44 that will make your enemies happy. 00:24:05.54\00:24:07.26 That Nebuchadnezzar would be de-throned 00:24:07.56\00:24:09.93 and that he would lose his mind. 00:24:10.13\00:24:11.59 He'd be humiliated groveling like an animal. 00:24:11.79\00:24:14.10 That would be something that would please those that hate you 00:24:14.40\00:24:17.14 Daniel is saying to Nebuchadnezzar. 00:24:17.34\00:24:18.83 OK. How did Satan get in heaven before God tested Job? 00:24:19.03\00:24:24.89 I thought he was kicked out of heaven. 00:24:25.29\00:24:27.15 Well, up until the time when Christ died on the cross 00:24:29.01\00:24:33.23 Satan could still... You see, Satan claimed 00:24:33.43\00:24:35.96 this planet. Adam was the prince of this world. 00:24:36.06\00:24:38.81 Adam had dominion of the planet. 00:24:39.01\00:24:40.49 When Adam and Eve chose to listen to the devil 00:24:40.79\00:24:42.88 instead of God they surrendered the dominion. 00:24:42.98\00:24:45.25 Romans 6 says whoever you obey 00:24:45.55\00:24:48.00 that's whose servants you are. And when they chose 00:24:48.20\00:24:49.79 to obey Lucifer, the planet really became Lucifer's. 00:24:49.89\00:24:53.39 Even Jesus, up until His death, He refers to Lucifer as 00:24:53.60\00:24:56.51 the prince of this world. 00:24:56.71\00:24:58.27 So up until that time Satan would access 00:24:58.68\00:25:01.23 the courts of heaven. Or when they had these heavenly meetings 00:25:01.44\00:25:04.62 where the sons of God came to present themselves 00:25:05.02\00:25:07.43 before the Lord - these are the leaders of other worlds - 00:25:07.53\00:25:09.68 Satan came also among them saying: "I come to represent 00:25:10.08\00:25:12.35 earth. " But after Jesus died on the cross 00:25:12.55\00:25:15.25 Christ said: "I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. " 00:25:15.55\00:25:18.60 Satan was defeated. He could no longer represent the world. 00:25:19.00\00:25:21.74 Jesus had redeemed it at that point. 00:25:21.94\00:25:23.77 OK. Wow, here's another... Wow! 00:25:24.27\00:25:27.82 Many teach that the law is not only the Ten Commandments 00:25:28.12\00:25:31.31 but it also is the Torah where it applies. 00:25:31.51\00:25:35.24 So why don't we observe the high Sabbaths 00:25:35.57\00:25:38.81 and the land Sabbaths? 00:25:39.01\00:25:40.87 Does it make sense to ignore these? 00:25:40.97\00:25:42.89 The Bible says that not one jot or tittle 00:25:43.09\00:25:45.60 shall pass from the law. 00:25:45.80\00:25:47.86 If we are spiritual Israel, then how does it not apply to us? 00:25:48.16\00:25:52.79 Well first of all, there is a difference between 00:25:53.40\00:25:55.42 the Ten Commandments and the Torah... the rest of the Torah. 00:25:55.52\00:25:58.08 Just God made a distinction in the way He gave the 00:25:58.28\00:26:00.89 Ten Commandments. Spoke it with His own voice. 00:26:00.99\00:26:03.70 Did it audibly. Wrote it with His own finger. 00:26:03.90\00:26:05.77 Wrote it on a different surface. 00:26:05.87\00:26:07.54 God made a difference so there is a difference. 00:26:07.74\00:26:09.47 The Ten Commandments are the perfect expression of God's will 00:26:09.77\00:26:12.82 in a very concise way. 00:26:12.92\00:26:14.28 There's also a difference between the 7th-day Sabbath 00:26:14.68\00:26:17.08 and these other ceremonial Sabbaths. 00:26:17.18\00:26:19.01 Now I would not lump the agricultural Sabbath 00:26:19.31\00:26:22.89 in the same way as you would some of the Sabbaths, 00:26:23.09\00:26:26.17 the annual Sabbaths, like the Feast of Trumpets 00:26:26.27\00:26:28.70 and the Passover. It's still a good idea 00:26:28.80\00:26:31.48 to fallow your land every few year. 00:26:31.68\00:26:33.85 George Washington Carver proved that 00:26:34.05\00:26:36.28 when the cotton farmers basically depleted the soil 00:26:36.49\00:26:39.51 by over-farming. Said: "You've got to plow it under. " 00:26:39.61\00:26:43.04 That's where they plant peanuts or something. 00:26:43.34\00:26:45.28 To put nitrogen back in the ground He said: "You've got to 00:26:45.48\00:26:47.11 let the land rest... you can't just keep sapping. " 00:26:47.21\00:26:50.00 So that's still a good law. That's not in the same category 00:26:50.30\00:26:52.79 as the ceremonial laws that were connected with the temple. 00:26:52.90\00:26:56.13 The Sabbath of the Ten Commandments was before 00:26:56.33\00:26:58.59 there was even sin. These Sabbath came after sin. 00:26:58.70\00:27:02.59 And so part of God's perfect world is remembering the 00:27:03.39\00:27:07.65 seventh-day Sabbath... even in heaven. Isaiah 66: 00:27:07.75\00:27:10.48 "From one Sabbath to another all flesh will come and worship 00:27:10.68\00:27:13.58 before the Lord. " And so when Jesus died on the cross 00:27:13.68\00:27:17.12 the veil and the curtain was torn. 00:27:18.57\00:27:20.35 We now have a new temple; Christ is the temple. 00:27:20.65\00:27:23.16 They took away Christ's robe; 00:27:23.77\00:27:26.36 we are now covered with the robe of Christ's righteousness. 00:27:26.57\00:27:28.73 The high priest tore his robes; 00:27:29.13\00:27:31.21 there is now a new priesthood. 00:27:31.41\00:27:33.16 "You are a nation of kings and priests. " 00:27:33.36\00:27:35.40 So the whole economy changed so that all the ceremonial laws: 00:27:35.61\00:27:39.29 that's what's nailed to the cross in Colossians chapter 2. 00:27:39.49\00:27:42.44 But the seventh-day Sabbath was not part of the ceremonial law. 00:27:43.34\00:27:46.13 It's part of the Ten Command- ments and it pre-dates sin. 00:27:46.33\00:27:49.50 That's a long answer. Sorry. 00:27:49.70\00:27:50.88 We needed that. I don't know how many more questions we have 00:27:50.99\00:27:53.68 but we're going to keep going. 00:27:53.78\00:27:54.94 Even if we don't have any more questions we're going to 00:27:55.14\00:27:56.66 make them up. We should have more. 00:27:56.76\00:28:00.61 Yeah, we have a lot more questions. OK? One of the issues 00:28:00.81\00:28:04.47 here is that in some places you go people are wanting to 00:28:04.67\00:28:08.18 keep the feast days, and that's been a big part of this issue 00:28:08.28\00:28:11.28 in Colossians 2. But as you mentioned 00:28:11.38\00:28:13.99 those other Sabbaths came after. The Bible says Christ is our 00:28:14.19\00:28:16.83 Passover - that's right - now. And so for us to say that 00:28:16.94\00:28:20.71 you know, the way that we remember Christ is by 00:28:20.91\00:28:23.01 sacrificing a Passover lamb... 00:28:23.11\00:28:24.58 First of all, you're supposed to bring it to the temple. 00:28:24.99\00:28:26.80 We can't do that any more. 00:28:27.20\00:28:28.48 And so it's almost a denial of the reality of Jesus to go back 00:28:28.88\00:28:33.15 and keep the ceremonial laws. 00:28:33.35\00:28:34.99 Good question. The Sabbath is causing great controversy in my 00:28:36.27\00:28:42.22 mind. I want to worship on the Sabbath... 00:28:42.42\00:28:45.30 That's not me, that's this person saying this... 00:28:45.70\00:28:48.38 I want to worship on the Sabbath but am presently a primitive 00:28:48.49\00:28:51.63 Baptist. My church worships on Sunday as you probably know. 00:28:51.73\00:28:56.45 But are we in direct conflict with the fourth commandment? 00:28:56.59\00:29:00.05 By the way, I've got some friends... If I'm not mistaken, 00:29:01.71\00:29:05.01 the primitive Baptists also... they like to go by the Bible. 00:29:05.11\00:29:08.31 They practice foot washing 00:29:08.61\00:29:10.41 'cause Jesus said: "If I wash your feet, you ought to wash 00:29:10.71\00:29:13.38 one another's feet. " But the Bible is very clear 00:29:13.48\00:29:16.75 in my mind that God didn't change the Ten Commandments. 00:29:16.95\00:29:20.87 And that would include He didn't change the one that says 00:29:21.28\00:29:24.38 "Remember THE seventh day. " Now if God had said: "Remember 00:29:24.58\00:29:27.34 A seventh day, " then it wouldn't matter if your church 00:29:27.54\00:29:30.31 chose to do it on Sunday or Monday or whatever. 00:29:30.51\00:29:33.18 But He says there is a particular day. 00:29:33.58\00:29:35.69 And you know, if I tell you: "Can you please bring me 00:29:35.99\00:29:37.96 the book? " you're not going to just grab a hymnal or any book 00:29:38.06\00:29:41.33 that's near you. You're going to say: "He said THE book. " 00:29:41.43\00:29:43.20 That means there's a definitive book I'm thinking of. 00:29:43.30\00:29:45.88 And when God says: "The seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord" 00:29:46.28\00:29:49.15 and there in Genesis 2 it says: "And on the seventh day 00:29:49.25\00:29:51.99 the Lord blessed the seventh day and He made the 7th day holy. " 00:29:52.19\00:29:54.39 God is very specific. As a matter of fact, I challenge 00:29:54.49\00:29:56.97 a person to find words that are more specific than the ones 00:29:57.07\00:30:01.27 that God used. What else are you going to say? 00:30:01.38\00:30:03.60 He was as specific as He could be. 00:30:03.80\00:30:05.69 There's a particular day He wants us to remember 00:30:05.90\00:30:08.29 and keep holy as the Sabbath. 00:30:08.49\00:30:09.52 Tells us how to do that in the Bible. 00:30:09.80\00:30:11.43 If we say: "No, we're going to go with another day that's 00:30:11.73\00:30:14.40 popular, " whether it's the first day or the third day 00:30:14.50\00:30:17.09 rather than the day God blesses 00:30:17.29\00:30:19.16 you have to ask this question: "When God told Naaman 00:30:19.36\00:30:22.61 "Wash seven times, " did it matter whether it was the 00:30:22.71\00:30:26.29 first time or the seventh time? 00:30:26.39\00:30:28.07 When God told Joshua: "March around the city seven times 00:30:29.58\00:30:33.43 on the seventh day... " Jericho, 00:30:33.63\00:30:35.63 did it matter whether he did it six times? 00:30:35.73\00:30:38.23 If they had said: "Well, you know, our feet are sore. 00:30:38.63\00:30:41.00 We're going to blow the trumpets after the first time. " 00:30:41.10\00:30:42.84 When God told Moses: "Strike the rock, or speak to the rock" 00:30:43.14\00:30:46.35 and he goes and he hits it twice 00:30:46.55\00:30:48.35 did that make a difference? Is God particular? Amen! 00:30:48.55\00:30:51.18 And so I think God means what He says. 00:30:51.58\00:30:54.12 And He promises that He blessed a certain time... 00:30:54.32\00:30:56.89 we want the time that He's blessed. 00:30:57.10\00:30:58.61 He made a certain time holy. 00:30:58.91\00:31:00.44 We cannot... we can't make it holy by picking our own time. 00:31:00.74\00:31:03.44 And so I think it's pretty arrogant for man to say 00:31:04.43\00:31:07.87 "We're going to declare our own day holy" 00:31:08.08\00:31:09.91 or for a church to do it. 00:31:10.02\00:31:11.30 We can't change the commandments of God. 00:31:11.33\00:31:13.48 And I think what's included in this question that is not 00:31:15.04\00:31:18.05 included in the question is, I want you to also clarify that, 00:31:18.15\00:31:21.32 we're not saying that people that go to church on Sunday 00:31:21.42\00:31:23.20 are lost. We're not saying that. But what we're saying is 00:31:23.30\00:31:26.25 when you love the Lord and you understand the truth 00:31:26.45\00:31:28.26 of God's Word, then you ask for the Lord 00:31:28.36\00:31:30.86 to give you the love to be obedient to it. 00:31:31.06\00:31:33.29 Right. I think you mentioned that earlier in your sermon. 00:31:33.49\00:31:35.10 Yeah, it's the same principle. There will be a whole lot of 00:31:35.30\00:31:37.26 people in heaven that went to church on the first day of the 00:31:37.46\00:31:39.77 week, and there'll be people in heaven that ate pork. 00:31:39.97\00:31:43.42 I mean, there's going to be people in heaven that maybe 00:31:43.72\00:31:45.69 didn't know a lot of things. But when we know what God's will is 00:31:45.79\00:31:49.67 on a certain subject, Jesus said: "If you know these things, 00:31:49.88\00:31:53.77 happy are you if you do them. " 00:31:53.97\00:31:56.33 Thank you, Doug. Um-hmm. 00:31:56.63\00:31:59.26 OK, this is one we can probably spend some time on. 00:32:01.72\00:32:04.78 The Bible clearly says the wicked will burn forever 00:32:05.08\00:32:09.22 and ever and that the worm dies not 00:32:09.32\00:32:13.08 and the smoke of their torment goes day and night... 00:32:13.28\00:32:17.52 clearly meaning at least a 24-hour time cycle. 00:32:17.82\00:32:21.29 SDA's don't believe that. 00:32:21.60\00:32:23.69 What explanation can you give for this conclusion? 00:32:23.99\00:32:26.44 I will chime in on this but you start. 00:32:26.85\00:32:28.46 That means I've just got to talk and not give him a break, right? 00:32:29.45\00:32:32.26 You know, understanding the subject of the punishment of the 00:32:35.69\00:32:38.47 wicked was some of the best news... I know that may sound 00:32:38.57\00:32:41.31 like a contradiction... that I ever heard because 00:32:41.41\00:32:43.79 one reason I turned away from God and Christianity 00:32:44.09\00:32:46.84 is I went to a religious school that taught ever-burning hell 00:32:47.14\00:32:51.00 and that if babies even weren't baptized... 00:32:51.40\00:32:53.83 And I just... You know, I thought: "Here I am 00:32:54.23\00:32:56.75 13 years old. I'm probably past the age of accountability. " 00:32:56.95\00:33:00.67 I figured Jesus was baptized at 12. "If I die, 00:33:00.97\00:33:04.91 I am now going to burn for billions of years 00:33:05.31\00:33:08.55 A million, zillion years go by and you've never even begun. " 00:33:08.75\00:33:11.68 Can you imagine that? Writhing in burning flames? 00:33:11.88\00:33:15.98 Blistering, screeching agony; billions of years. I thought: 00:33:16.28\00:33:20.17 "What kind of God would torture creatures 00:33:20.41\00:33:26.19 that He's made that are born with the propensity to sin 00:33:26.49\00:33:30.57 Why would He? " I said: "Where's the justice? 00:33:30.97\00:33:33.60 Where's the love? " I couldn't figure that out. 00:33:33.70\00:33:35.95 When I realized what the Bible really said about that subject: 00:33:36.15\00:33:39.14 John 3:16... you're got two choices. 00:33:39.44\00:33:41.92 Believe in Him... everlasting life. 00:33:42.53\00:33:45.36 Do not believe... perish. 00:33:45.56\00:33:47.19 "Behold a day comes... " Malachi chapter 4... 00:33:47.79\00:33:50.40 "that will burn as an oven. And all the proud and all that 00:33:50.60\00:33:52.49 do wickedly will be stubble. 00:33:52.59\00:33:53.97 The day that comes will burn them up. 00:33:54.07\00:33:56.19 Leave them neither root nor branch. " 00:33:56.40\00:33:58.24 Psalms says the wicked will consume away into smoke. 00:33:58.54\00:34:01.55 And Revelation 20 says fire comes down from God 00:34:01.95\00:34:04.34 out of heaven and devours them. 00:34:04.44\00:34:06.66 There's only two choices... there's life and death. 00:34:07.16\00:34:09.70 The Bible tells us that in the hell fire 00:34:10.10\00:34:12.40 Jesus said: "Do not fear him, " Matthew chapter 10, 00:34:12.60\00:34:15.15 "who destroys the body but cannot destroy the soul. 00:34:15.35\00:34:17.63 Rather fear Him who will destroy soul and body in hell. " 00:34:17.83\00:34:23.53 It's not just the body that's burned up. 00:34:23.66\00:34:24.97 Soul and body will be destroyed. 00:34:25.27\00:34:27.55 Now they talk about the verse that says 00:34:28.05\00:34:30.55 everlasting destruction because the penalty for sin 00:34:30.75\00:34:34.55 is... There is a lake of fire. We don't doubt that. 00:34:34.75\00:34:37.28 So you can call that hell fire. 00:34:37.48\00:34:38.85 And the wicked there are every man is punished according 00:34:39.05\00:34:42.15 to what he deserves. If everybody burns forever, 00:34:42.25\00:34:44.92 everyone gets the same punishment. 00:34:45.02\00:34:46.52 But it says... what about where it says forever? 00:34:48.59\00:34:52.48 Well, most of the time in the Bible when it says 00:34:53.57\00:34:56.87 forever it means forever... but there are exceptions. 00:34:57.07\00:34:59.38 And you have where Jonah - chapter 2- 00:34:59.61\00:35:02.44 it says: "The earth with her bars was around me forever. " 00:35:02.84\00:35:06.21 Now if you were in the great fish, it would have felt like 00:35:06.51\00:35:08.80 forever. When Hannah brought Samuel to the temple 00:35:08.90\00:35:12.95 she said: "I'm leaving him here so he can serve before the Lord 00:35:13.35\00:35:16.61 forever. " What did forever mean? Well, 00:35:16.82\00:35:18.87 till he died. When a servant loved his master 00:35:19.07\00:35:24.28 he would go through a ritual where he would show that 00:35:24.48\00:35:27.39 he wanted to serve his master forever, even if he was set free 00:35:27.49\00:35:30.38 after seven years. And they would basically drive a nail 00:35:30.48\00:35:34.00 through his earlobe to the door - the only 00:35:34.10\00:35:36.08 ear piercing permitted in the Bible - 00:35:36.19\00:35:37.97 and then it meant he will be his servant it says "forever. " 00:35:38.17\00:35:42.45 Forever? Even in eternity? 00:35:42.85\00:35:44.38 Or does that mean till he dies? 00:35:44.68\00:35:46.11 Means until he dies. 00:35:46.51\00:35:48.12 So it's simply saying when it says forever 00:35:48.42\00:35:51.14 it means until it's all gone. 00:35:51.24\00:35:53.06 And it comes from the word... In Greek the word is 00:35:53.36\00:35:56.73 eon - aion... where we get the word eon. 00:35:56.93\00:35:59.63 Have you ever said to somebody: "Why I haven't seen them 00:35:59.83\00:36:01.43 in eons? " Does that mean forever? 00:36:01.46\00:36:04.04 Or is it a figure of speech? 00:36:04.24\00:36:06.09 And so it's often used in a very vague way. 00:36:06.32\00:36:09.53 And this is a Greek word, so don't build... If you've got 00:36:09.73\00:36:12.49 a hundred scriptures here on this side 00:36:12.79\00:36:17.06 that make it clear the devil said: "You will not surely die" 00:36:17.26\00:36:21.93 you'll either live forever in heaven or live forever in hell. 00:36:22.13\00:36:24.62 The devil says you won't really die; God says you WILL die. 00:36:24.72\00:36:27.35 A lot of the world is believing what the devil said 00:36:27.75\00:36:30.03 instead of what God says. You've got 100 verses that say 00:36:30.14\00:36:32.24 they'll perish, they'll be consumed, they'll be devoured, 00:36:32.34\00:36:35.04 they'll die. In heaven: no more pain, right? 00:36:35.25\00:36:38.31 How can you have a torture cham- ber and there be no more pain? 00:36:38.61\00:36:41.17 "All things are made new. " How can all things be made new 00:36:41.37\00:36:43.90 and sinners immortalized? 00:36:44.10\00:36:45.50 No more suffering, right? No more death. 00:36:45.90\00:36:48.90 None of these things exist anymore. 00:36:49.20\00:36:50.63 You've got all these verses here, and if you've got a couple 00:36:50.73\00:36:53.08 of verses here that are difficult, don't throw away 00:36:53.18\00:36:56.58 the weight of evidence. Any court would say: 00:36:56.68\00:36:58.89 "Look at the preponderance of evidence. " 00:36:59.09\00:37:01.40 The weight of evidence is very clear that God is a just God. 00:37:01.71\00:37:04.42 Try and understand the anomalies... and there are some 00:37:04.82\00:37:07.80 verses that good Christians have misunderstood. 00:37:07.90\00:37:10.19 But I think the lion's share of evidence is very clear 00:37:10.59\00:37:13.51 that the wicked do not get everlasting life: in fire 00:37:13.71\00:37:16.68 or anywhere. You know, Doug, one of the reasons I said I was 00:37:16.78\00:37:20.52 going to chime in on this is because I love this topic. 00:37:20.63\00:37:22.76 Really quickly... we have some more questions here. 00:37:22.96\00:37:25.17 One page has like seven on, so we'll get to that. 00:37:25.38\00:37:27.48 But one of the biggest things that people leave out is the 00:37:27.88\00:37:29.82 fact that... and this is where the light came on for me... 00:37:29.92\00:37:32.80 I asked somebody when they said: "Will the wicked burn forever? " 00:37:33.01\00:37:36.09 I asked them: "Will Satan be destroyed? " 00:37:36.19\00:37:39.25 "Will Satan be around forever? " What's the answer? 00:37:40.95\00:37:43.19 In his own testimony, he knows that he has but a what? 00:37:43.59\00:37:47.29 short time. OK, Exodus... I mean Ezekiel. 00:37:47.49\00:37:51.32 Speaking of Satan, the Lord says: "Therefore I brought fire 00:37:51.72\00:37:55.90 from your midst and it devoured you. It turned you to ashes. " 00:37:56.00\00:37:59.09 Speaking to Lucifer. 00:37:59.29\00:38:00.43 Speaking to Satan: "It turned you to ashes 00:38:00.63\00:38:02.81 in the sight of all who saw you. 00:38:03.01\00:38:04.74 All who knew you are astonished at you. 00:38:04.94\00:38:08.73 You have become a horror and shall be no more forever. " 00:38:09.03\00:38:14.25 Now, if He's going to destroy the root 00:38:14.65\00:38:18.19 how is there going to be a branch? 00:38:18.40\00:38:20.26 "If the branch be destroyed... " Good point. 00:38:20.66\00:38:22.66 If the root is destroyed, you have no branch. 00:38:22.76\00:38:24.64 He's the root of evil. 00:38:24.74\00:38:26.32 Jesus is the vine; we are the branches. 00:38:26.52\00:38:27.95 The reason why we have eternal life: 00:38:28.06\00:38:29.43 we're connected to the vine who is eternal. 00:38:29.54\00:38:31.32 They're connected to Satan who is just temporary. 00:38:31.52\00:38:33.58 He said it himself. And finally, and this is the biggest part, 00:38:33.78\00:38:38.07 "the wages of sin is... 00:38:38.37\00:38:40.69 the gift of God is eternal life. " 00:38:40.72\00:38:42.77 Who receives eternal life? The righteous or the wicked? 00:38:42.84\00:38:45.09 How can you burn forever if you cannot live forever? 00:38:45.49\00:38:48.45 OK... good point. 00:38:48.85\00:38:50.68 Psalm 37:10: "You will look for their place 00:38:51.09\00:38:53.16 and it shall be no more. " 00:38:53.26\00:38:55.39 By the way, if I can throw in a commercial here... 00:38:55.69\00:38:57.86 Amazing Facts has a website called Hell Truth. Very good. 00:38:59.00\00:39:02.15 I recommend anybody that wants to know more about that subject 00:39:02.28\00:39:04.48 it's called helltruth. com 00:39:04.68\00:39:06.54 And I think it's probably the most popular website 00:39:06.84\00:39:09.32 on this subject. It's got videos, scriptures, 00:39:09.42\00:39:13.16 a galore of evidence from the Bible. 00:39:13.26\00:39:15.31 Wow, this person got happy! 00:39:15.61\00:39:17.58 He put seven questions on a page. 00:39:17.88\00:39:19.85 Well, didn't give them a limit! OK. 00:39:20.05\00:39:22.07 Bless their hearts. So far I have learned 00:39:22.27\00:39:25.68 everything that Jesus did during His life 00:39:25.88\00:39:28.01 here on earth was with purpose 00:39:28.21\00:39:32.76 and He never left a doubt for second guessing 00:39:33.06\00:39:37.01 except the story of the poor man - Lazarus - going to heaven 00:39:37.21\00:39:42.21 and being consoled by Abraham 00:39:42.41\00:39:44.58 and the rich man being burned in a flaming hell. 00:39:44.78\00:39:47.55 This fits perfect after the last question. 00:39:47.85\00:39:49.49 Why would our Lord use an example so prone to be 00:39:49.89\00:39:52.71 misunderstood? Why use an illustration 00:39:52.81\00:39:55.54 that gives a picture of an afterlife if it is not true? 00:39:55.64\00:40:00.10 OK... you go ahead and start. 00:40:00.33\00:40:02.21 Well, Jesus said: "Many things I have to say to you 00:40:02.61\00:40:06.39 but you're not able to bear them. " And there are some 00:40:06.59\00:40:09.22 things that it does take study and it does take maturity. 00:40:09.32\00:40:11.84 And I'm glad God challenges us to think. 00:40:11.94\00:40:14.13 Jesus didn't say everything in the simplest of terms 00:40:14.53\00:40:17.76 because He wants us to reason together. 00:40:17.96\00:40:19.88 And so, yeah, of course... The Lord says some things 00:40:20.18\00:40:22.71 that require thinking. Read things in their context. 00:40:22.81\00:40:25.07 When Jesus told the parable - and this is Luke 16:19 00:40:25.37\00:40:29.19 of the rich man and Lazarus - 00:40:29.22\00:40:30.70 He was giving a parable. 00:40:30.91\00:40:33.01 And you have to know that it's a parable because first of all 00:40:33.21\00:40:35.55 He's got the people in heaven and hell talking to each other. 00:40:35.65\00:40:37.81 Who takes that literally? 00:40:38.11\00:40:39.36 He says that one drop of water would cool the tongue 00:40:39.76\00:40:42.63 of a person in hell. That can't be literal. 00:40:42.83\00:40:45.47 It says that everybody that dies, all the saved, go to 00:40:45.77\00:40:48.93 Abraham's bosom. Well, he's either got a really big bosom 00:40:49.03\00:40:52.36 or there aren't too many people that are going to make it. 00:40:52.46\00:40:54.32 So, I mean, there's so many figures of speech. 00:40:54.62\00:40:56.97 But the important thing is this parable really had nothing 00:40:57.17\00:41:00.71 to do with the state of man in death. 00:41:00.81\00:41:02.92 Jesus is talking to the religious leaders. 00:41:03.42\00:41:05.82 He's talking to the Jewish nation... to the church today 00:41:06.02\00:41:08.97 and He's saying: "Do not think because you've got the truth 00:41:09.27\00:41:11.75 and that you're blessed and you're clothed in purple 00:41:12.05\00:41:15.39 and you're feasting that you're going to be favored by God 00:41:15.60\00:41:19.21 in the next life because you might find 00:41:19.41\00:41:22.31 that the Gentiles who are at your gate that are hungry for 00:41:22.51\00:41:25.15 the crumbs of truth that fall from your table 00:41:25.25\00:41:27.29 they are going to be in Abraham's bosom and 00:41:27.59\00:41:29.71 the children of the kingdom will be in outer darkness 00:41:29.91\00:41:32.00 where there's weeping and gnashing of teeth. " 00:41:32.21\00:41:33.80 I'm mixing parables here, but many times Jesus said 00:41:34.10\00:41:36.60 "Many will come from the east and the west and sit down 00:41:36.90\00:41:39.36 in the kingdom with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob... " 00:41:39.56\00:41:41.97 meaning the Gentiles... "and the children of the kingdom... " 00:41:42.17\00:41:44.74 people that might be genetically or have the DNA of Israel... 00:41:45.04\00:41:48.42 they could be in outer darkness. 00:41:48.62\00:41:50.67 It had nothing to do with the state of man. 00:41:50.97\00:41:52.78 Christ then draws on a Greek parable that everybody knew. 00:41:53.18\00:41:57.77 They all had a god named Pluto in charge of place called Hades 00:41:59.04\00:42:02.05 which was a place of punishment. 00:42:02.25\00:42:03.78 They all spoke Greek. They all knew Greek mythology. 00:42:04.28\00:42:07.52 If I were to tell you today 00:42:08.45\00:42:10.33 I want to tell you a story, 00:42:10.53\00:42:11.79 OK... you with me? 00:42:11.99\00:42:13.02 one day Alice was in Wonderland. 00:42:13.27\00:42:15.24 Stop. That's all I've got to say. 00:42:15.55\00:42:17.82 You know right away that I'm using a very popular 00:42:18.32\00:42:22.46 fairy tale to illustrate a point. 00:42:22.49\00:42:24.67 You would not take the talking rabbits or the cats literally, 00:42:25.07\00:42:28.70 would you? Jesus is doing something very creative here. 00:42:29.01\00:42:32.56 He's putting the Jew - who is the rich man - 00:42:33.06\00:42:36.80 in the Greek place of torment 00:42:37.01\00:42:39.26 and He's putting the Greek - the Gentile - 00:42:39.46\00:42:41.71 in the Jewish place of salvation. 00:42:42.11\00:42:43.81 Abraham's bosom: what could be more Jewish than that? 00:42:43.84\00:42:46.12 The only place you find Abraham's bosom is in the Bible. 00:42:46.42\00:42:49.07 I guess some people have made a new kind of Protestant 00:42:49.48\00:42:51.84 purgatory out of this. It's some new waiting area or something. 00:42:51.94\00:42:54.91 And so it's just a parable. 00:42:55.31\00:42:57.18 The punch line is why He told it. 00:42:57.38\00:42:59.74 He said: "If they do not believe Moses and the prophets, 00:43:00.14\00:43:03.38 neither will they be persuaded though one rise from the dead. " 00:43:03.58\00:43:06.52 The rich man who's in torment says: "Oh but if you send 00:43:06.92\00:43:10.13 Lazarus to my father's house I've got five brothers... " 00:43:10.23\00:43:13.00 the Jews had all agreed on the five books of Moses... 00:43:13.20\00:43:15.48 the Pentateuch. "I've got five brothers in my father's house. 00:43:15.78\00:43:19.58 If he testifies to them, then they'll repent. " 00:43:19.78\00:43:22.46 And He says: "If they believed not Moses and the prophets, 00:43:22.77\00:43:25.45 neither will they be persuaded though one should rise 00:43:25.65\00:43:27.84 from the dead. " Did Jesus raise someone from the dead 00:43:27.95\00:43:30.38 by the name of Lazarus? 00:43:30.48\00:43:31.75 Did they believe or did they still try to crucify Christ? 00:43:32.25\00:43:34.81 They even tried to kill Lazarus. 00:43:35.21\00:43:37.25 So this is a very telling parable. No one back then 00:43:37.55\00:43:41.17 tried to apply it to the state of death... 00:43:41.37\00:43:43.22 state of man in death... 00:43:43.42\00:43:44.51 and I think it's kind of reckless to use it that way. 00:43:44.81\00:43:47.00 I'm not going to chime in on that; that was complete. Amen? 00:43:47.41\00:43:50.00 Amen! Very well said. 00:43:50.30\00:43:51.60 I Peter 3:19. Boy, this is really good. 00:43:52.10\00:43:55.75 I like... A lot of these questions are really trying to 00:43:55.85\00:43:57.93 hit the idea that people do exist after death. 00:43:58.33\00:44:01.96 But I Peter 3:19. Read that... 19 and 20... and 00:44:02.36\00:44:05.82 to what spirits is he referring? 00:44:06.12\00:44:08.68 Have to start with verse 18. 00:44:08.88\00:44:10.48 "For Christ also suffered once for sin - 00:44:10.78\00:44:13.15 the just for the unjust - that He might bring us to God 00:44:13.35\00:44:16.07 being put to death in the flesh 00:44:16.17\00:44:17.58 but made alive in the Spirit. " Capital S. 00:44:17.68\00:44:20.02 Spirit is the subject here. 00:44:20.12\00:44:22.64 "By whom... " This is a continuation of the sentence 00:44:22.84\00:44:25.30 That's why I had to read verse 18... 00:44:25.40\00:44:26.66 "By whom he went and preached to the spirits in prison. " 00:44:26.96\00:44:29.39 Through this Spirit God preached to the spirits 00:44:29.49\00:44:32.73 in prison "who formerly were disobedient when once the 00:44:32.84\00:44:36.08 longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah. " 00:44:36.18\00:44:38.32 Remember God said: "My Spirit will not always strive with 00:44:38.62\00:44:41.08 man? " Genesis chapter 6. 00:44:41.18\00:44:42.86 "His days will be 120 years. " The same Spirit that spoke 00:44:43.16\00:44:47.12 through Christ spoke in the days of Noah to the spirits 00:44:47.33\00:44:50.35 in prison... meaning those imprisoned by sin. 00:44:50.45\00:44:53.23 It's not saying that God's got some kind of torture chamber 00:44:53.63\00:44:56.17 down there in the darkness, and Jesus - when He died on the 00:44:56.27\00:44:58.20 cross - went down to preach to the people that lived before 00:44:58.30\00:45:00.72 the flood and give them a second chance... 00:45:00.82\00:45:02.64 which is what some churches believe. 00:45:03.04\00:45:04.66 The whole idea that after you die 00:45:05.06\00:45:07.50 Christ is going to come preach to you again 00:45:07.70\00:45:09.53 in some prison and give you a second chance 00:45:09.73\00:45:11.30 goes against everything else in the Bible. 00:45:11.50\00:45:13.58 "It's appointed unto man once to die; 00:45:13.88\00:45:15.69 after that the judgment. " 00:45:15.79\00:45:16.84 This life is our only time. 00:45:17.04\00:45:18.54 There's no prayers or preaching after death 00:45:18.84\00:45:20.69 that are going to make a difference. 00:45:20.79\00:45:21.92 So... that's what it's saying. 00:45:22.42\00:45:24.30 Amen. OK, I think we answered this but I think... Let me just 00:45:24.60\00:45:27.67 read it here. Where did Cain's wife come from? 00:45:27.77\00:45:30.31 We answered that. And why was he marked? 00:45:30.51\00:45:32.70 That part was before... Why was he marked 00:45:32.90\00:45:34.80 if there were no more people on the earth besides his parents 00:45:35.00\00:45:38.17 and brothers. Well, everybody was very intelligent then 00:45:38.27\00:45:41.83 and they all knew that God had commanded them to be fruitful, 00:45:42.03\00:45:44.56 multiply, and to fill the earth. 00:45:44.66\00:45:46.44 They were still living centuries back then. 00:45:46.74\00:45:49.01 Cain realized... it didn't take a lot of proactive thinking 00:45:49.21\00:45:51.80 that as people began to multiply and fill the earth... 00:45:52.10\00:45:55.05 if you just do the simple math and extrapolate... he knew 00:45:55.36\00:45:57.97 there'd be hundreds of thousands of people. He would be 00:45:58.08\00:46:01.42 singled out as the first murderer 00:46:01.82\00:46:05.19 and would have that... his life would be threatened. 00:46:05.49\00:46:09.45 He said: "What's going to happen to me... " 00:46:09.65\00:46:11.08 he says, "for all the generations to come? " 00:46:11.28\00:46:13.27 Therefore, God put a mark upon Cain 00:46:13.57\00:46:15.27 saying that if Cain is cursed for what he did, anyone that 00:46:15.47\00:46:17.76 hurts Cain is going to be cursed more. 00:46:17.86\00:46:19.53 Wow! In the Lord's Prayer what does it mean 00:46:20.99\00:46:24.90 "Lead us not into temptation? " 00:46:25.10\00:46:26.84 Does God lead us into temptation sometimes? 00:46:26.94\00:46:30.53 You know, it's interesting as I travel to all these different 00:46:30.86\00:46:33.70 countries and I hear the different languages... I'm very 00:46:33.80\00:46:35.84 interested in language... how funny things sometimes come out 00:46:35.95\00:46:39.66 when they're translated. Because not only are words different; 00:46:39.76\00:46:43.19 the way we structure our sentences is different. 00:46:43.39\00:46:46.19 Like in English here in southern Illinois 00:46:46.59\00:46:49.71 you'd say: "Can you go throw some hay over the fence 00:46:49.81\00:46:51.80 to the cow. " In German they'd say: "Go throw the cow 00:46:51.91\00:46:55.78 over the fence some hay. " 00:46:55.88\00:46:57.43 Well it sounds strange. You know, in English I'd say 00:46:57.73\00:46:59.95 white house. Spanish say casa blanca... house white. 00:47:00.15\00:47:03.78 And the way this really translates more accurately 00:47:04.60\00:47:07.49 in the Lord's Prayer is: "Lead us not... " 00:47:07.69\00:47:10.59 In other words, lead us away. The word not there means 00:47:10.79\00:47:12.99 do not lead us or lead us away from our natural tendency 00:47:13.19\00:47:18.57 for temptation. We're not begging God not to tempt us 00:47:18.77\00:47:21.81 because God tempts no man, neither can He be tempted 00:47:22.01\00:47:24.73 with evil. It's simply saying: "Lead us away from 00:47:24.93\00:47:28.77 our natural propensity to sin. " 00:47:28.97\00:47:31.65 Amen. In Psalm 35 David asks our Lord 00:47:32.05\00:47:37.76 to do a lot of bad things to his enemies. 00:47:37.96\00:47:40.60 Sounds like some of us today, don't you think? 00:47:41.00\00:47:43.21 I understand that that is not what God wants 00:47:44.11\00:47:47.50 us to request for our enemies. 00:47:47.60\00:47:50.07 Please explain. 00:47:50.37\00:47:51.88 In other words, what should we request for our enemies? 00:47:52.18\00:47:55.35 Well, I think there's a time to pray 00:47:55.75\00:48:00.53 that your enemy will fail. 00:48:00.74\00:48:02.37 I think there's a time to pray that the Lord will confound 00:48:03.59\00:48:07.42 the plans of the enemy. 00:48:07.52\00:48:08.89 And David was fighting for... he was fighting for God. 00:48:09.88\00:48:13.60 So you notice when David goes against Goliath 00:48:13.80\00:48:15.47 did David say: "Our nation's better than your nation? " 00:48:16.79\00:48:18.97 Or did he say: "You have blasphemed God? " 00:48:19.07\00:48:21.28 And David was very jealous for God. 00:48:22.04\00:48:23.98 So whenever David is praying for the destruction or bad 00:48:24.28\00:48:27.06 things to happen to the enemies he's really thinking about 00:48:27.16\00:48:29.45 those who are fighting against the truth. 00:48:29.55\00:48:31.28 And so I always think that David... and the reason 00:48:31.68\00:48:34.57 that's inspired and it's in the Psalms 00:48:34.67\00:48:36.29 it's looking at the bigger picture of the battle between 00:48:36.60\00:48:39.15 good and evil. And I think... I think there's a time to 00:48:39.25\00:48:42.71 pray that the plans of the enemy will fail. 00:48:42.82\00:48:45.64 If you've got an enemy, don't take David's Psalms 00:48:46.04\00:48:49.09 and say: "David says I'm praying that fire and brimstone 00:48:49.29\00:48:51.22 falls on their head" because you read where Paul says 00:48:51.32\00:48:53.99 "If you've got an enemy, feed him. 00:48:54.02\00:48:55.94 If he's thirsty, give him something to drink. " 00:48:56.14\00:48:57.88 We're supposed to overcome evil with good. 00:48:58.28\00:49:00.24 The Bible is very clear about that. 00:49:00.44\00:49:01.67 And even in the Old Testament when Elisha captured the whole 00:49:01.97\00:49:04.97 Syrian army the king said: "Shall I kill them now? 00:49:05.07\00:49:07.38 Shall I kill them? " And he said: "No. " 00:49:07.58\00:49:09.38 Give them something to eat and send them home. " 00:49:09.68\00:49:11.82 God's always been the same. You overcome evil with good. 00:49:12.32\00:49:14.98 But when you're engaged in battle, and other people's lives 00:49:15.38\00:49:18.44 are threatened, there might be a time to pray for bad things 00:49:18.54\00:49:21.96 to happen to the enemy. 00:49:22.06\00:49:23.09 But always remember that vengeance belongs to the Lord. 00:49:23.18\00:49:25.44 Right. Number six... oh... six of seven on this page. 00:49:25.54\00:49:29.32 Please explain John 10:34. Jesus answered... 00:49:29.62\00:49:32.20 Go there because they kind of left some of the verse out. 00:49:32.60\00:49:34.82 I want you to see the whole thing. 00:49:34.92\00:49:36.16 "Jesus answered them: 'Is it not written in your law 00:49:36.46\00:49:41.71 I said you are gods. ' " 00:49:41.91\00:49:44.86 Let's see if that's what it says. John 10:34. 00:49:45.16\00:49:47.00 He's quoting from Psalm 82 verse 6 00:49:47.30\00:49:50.66 where God is saying: "Did I not say ye are gods? " 00:49:51.06\00:49:53.46 Now the word god does not mean THE God of heaven necessarily 00:49:53.96\00:49:58.58 all the time. It's talking about we're made in the image of God. 00:49:58.68\00:50:02.61 God wanted man to be able to have dominion over the planet. 00:50:03.11\00:50:08.21 Compared to the other creatures 00:50:09.13\00:50:11.48 we're divine to them. I mean just look at the way that 00:50:11.78\00:50:14.02 your dogs and your pets will sometimes worship. 00:50:14.33\00:50:18.81 They just wait at the door all day for you to go home. 00:50:19.01\00:50:21.25 And so, man was made in the image of God. 00:50:21.68\00:50:23.86 We're not divine; we're not to be worshiped. 00:50:24.06\00:50:25.61 But man was made to be the ruler of this world so to speak. 00:50:26.11\00:50:29.35 And so in that lesser sense is what David is talking about. 00:50:29.65\00:50:33.02 It's not saying that we're divine. 00:50:34.25\00:50:36.23 That make sense? 00:50:37.66\00:50:38.97 Number seven on this page: 00:50:40.84\00:50:43.24 Did Jesus give His disciples the authority to forgive sin? 00:50:43.34\00:50:48.52 John 20 verses 22-23 00:50:48.82\00:50:51.69 says that He breathed on them and said: "Receive the Holy 00:50:51.79\00:50:55.08 Spirit. If you forgive their sins, 00:50:55.18\00:50:57.46 they are forgiven them. If you retain their sins, 00:50:57.77\00:51:00.25 the sins of any they are retained. " 00:51:00.45\00:51:01.99 How can this be if only God can forgive sins? 00:51:02.39\00:51:05.89 That's a good question. It's also... 00:51:06.19\00:51:08.62 It's a difficult question because can you pray that 00:51:08.92\00:51:12.16 God will forgive another person? 00:51:12.26\00:51:13.72 Does God hear those prayers? 00:51:14.22\00:51:16.29 When Stephen was being stoned did he say: "Father, lay not 00:51:16.59\00:51:19.49 this sin to their charge? " 00:51:19.59\00:51:21.06 When Jesus died on the cross did He say: "Father, 00:51:21.87\00:51:23.93 forgive them? " Do the prayers of people 00:51:24.03\00:51:26.62 make a difference in what God does? 00:51:26.82\00:51:28.61 It's not that we're forgiving anybody. 00:51:29.01\00:51:31.54 But we can pray for God to intervene in people's lives 00:51:31.94\00:51:35.97 and work for their forgiveness. 00:51:36.07\00:51:37.50 The most obvious way we do this is in spreading that forgiveness 00:51:37.71\00:51:41.63 through their knowing Christ. 00:51:41.83\00:51:43.58 Inasmuch as we do or do not share the gospel 00:51:43.99\00:51:47.29 we are sharing and disseminating God's forgiveness. 00:51:47.42\00:51:50.93 You know, this is again dealing with that whole thing 00:51:54.67\00:51:56.56 about the enemy like David's prayer before. 00:51:56.66\00:51:59.56 There are times where they... Paul, I've got to give you 00:52:00.76\00:52:05.15 a Bible example or you won't believe me, 00:52:05.25\00:52:06.77 Paul was preaching... Paul and Barnabas were preaching 00:52:07.97\00:52:10.94 and they were preaching to Sergius Paulus, 00:52:11.24\00:52:13.92 the leader of this area. 00:52:14.12\00:52:15.94 And there was a sorcerer that was trying to overthrow 00:52:16.24\00:52:19.20 and turn away everything that they were saying. 00:52:19.30\00:52:21.14 And you know what Paul did? Paul said: "Oh you child of the 00:52:21.44\00:52:23.71 devil, son of perdition. " He said: "How long will you seek 00:52:23.81\00:52:26.77 to pervert the truth and turn people away? May you be blind. " 00:52:26.87\00:52:29.96 And he was struck with blindness. 00:52:30.16\00:52:32.01 Do we have classes on how to do that in church? 00:52:34.06\00:52:36.49 But when a person is working proactively as an obstacle 00:52:40.97\00:52:45.12 you can pray for their conversion. 00:52:45.22\00:52:46.33 You can pray that God will confound what they're doing 00:52:46.53\00:52:48.46 if it's preventing others from coming to Jesus. 00:52:48.76\00:52:50.96 Paul did that under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. 00:52:51.26\00:52:53.60 And so if a person has sold out to the devil 00:52:54.29\00:52:56.45 and they're working to obstruct, you might pray that God will 00:52:56.66\00:52:58.84 do something to block them. 00:52:59.04\00:53:00.28 Does that make sense what I'm saying? 00:53:01.45\00:53:03.23 Also to add to that the Lord was establishing 00:53:03.53\00:53:06.29 the authority of the church. 00:53:06.39\00:53:07.91 If you read that the church is being established in the book of 00:53:08.21\00:53:10.05 Acts, the church actually came into fruition 00:53:10.15\00:53:12.09 being built up as the physical body in different locations 00:53:12.29\00:53:14.86 God was saying - and as we have in our church now, 00:53:14.89\00:53:17.68 I'll use the church board as an example - 00:53:17.88\00:53:19.46 if there is a transgression, if there is an issue among 00:53:19.66\00:53:21.75 members, to whom should we bring that matter? 00:53:21.85\00:53:24.37 If we go to Matthew 18, first to the individual. 00:53:24.68\00:53:26.85 Then we take a witness if they don't hear. 00:53:27.16\00:53:29.11 Then we take a third, and then we bring them 00:53:29.41\00:53:31.19 to a larger... the church body. 00:53:31.39\00:53:33.26 If they choose not to repent, 00:53:33.36\00:53:35.58 then we deal with them as a heathen. 00:53:35.78\00:53:37.30 God was establishing the authority that He has given 00:53:37.50\00:53:39.73 to the church. So if somebody sinned and they brought their 00:53:39.83\00:53:42.32 case to us and we said "That's equitable... 00:53:42.42\00:53:45.05 forgive that person. " 00:53:45.26\00:53:46.29 "But that's not so. " Retain him. 00:53:46.60\00:53:48.61 That's the authority that was being established 00:53:48.91\00:53:50.57 with the church... not taking the place of God. 00:53:50.67\00:53:52.45 And I think that's what they were inferring there. 00:53:52.55\00:53:54.09 We can't do what only God can do. 00:53:54.39\00:53:56.12 When it comes to worship in these last days 00:53:56.62\00:54:00.43 which is more important: the day you worship 00:54:00.73\00:54:03.84 or whom you worship? 00:54:04.04\00:54:05.87 Wow! Can you separate that? 00:54:06.18\00:54:08.44 Sure you can. I think one of the highest 00:54:08.74\00:54:11.49 forms of worship... The Bible says: "To obey is better 00:54:11.69\00:54:14.61 than sacrifice. " Amen! And so one of the ways that we show 00:54:14.71\00:54:18.12 we worship is by obeying God the way He said. 00:54:18.22\00:54:20.83 You know, sometimes we say: "Oh, well I know this is what 00:54:21.13\00:54:24.10 You asked for but... You know, Lord, because I 00:54:24.30\00:54:26.28 love You I kept the Amalekite sheep to offer to You. " 00:54:26.48\00:54:30.28 God says: "Look, if I told you to do something 00:54:30.78\00:54:32.95 the best way to obey if you love Me... " 00:54:33.15\00:54:35.75 The highest form of worship is love, right? 00:54:36.05\00:54:38.10 "If you love Me, keep My commandments. " 00:54:38.30\00:54:41.30 So it's a trick to try and separate the two. 00:54:41.80\00:54:44.25 And we should worship God seven days a week. 00:54:44.65\00:54:47.35 But Sabbath isn't just about worship. 00:54:47.86\00:54:50.46 The Sabbath is about obeying God. The Bible says 00:54:50.66\00:54:53.60 it's a holy convocation. We come together. 00:54:53.70\00:54:55.49 We not only worship Him, we study the Word. 00:54:55.79\00:54:57.71 We fellowship; we glorify Him. 00:54:57.91\00:55:00.10 There's a lot more to it than people say. 00:55:00.20\00:55:02.92 A lot of folks say: "Well, you worship God one day a week. 00:55:03.13\00:55:05.04 I worship God seven days a week. " 00:55:05.15\00:55:06.58 We all believe we should worship God with our lives. 00:55:06.98\00:55:09.28 But He set aside one day as the Sabbath. 00:55:09.68\00:55:11.48 And if someone says: "Well I keep the Sabbath 00:55:11.98\00:55:14.47 seven days a week, " they're not holy, they're lazy. 00:55:14.57\00:55:16.61 Right? 'Cause that day you don't do any work. 00:55:16.91\00:55:19.26 Wow! 00:55:19.96\00:55:21.43 How do I know God's plan for my life? 00:55:24.21\00:55:29.08 First and foremost, His plan is that you live forever 00:55:30.78\00:55:33.13 by surrendering that life to Him. 00:55:33.24\00:55:35.18 And when you commit your way unto the Lord 00:55:35.68\00:55:38.02 God will then shine light on what your path might be. 00:55:38.32\00:55:41.16 Of course, you... knowing the will of God 00:55:41.46\00:55:45.51 there's a number of criteria. 00:55:45.71\00:55:47.03 You know, if you have several good options... 00:55:47.14\00:55:48.60 Again, it's shameless promotion 00:55:49.10\00:55:50.98 but I wrote a little book you can read for free 00:55:51.18\00:55:52.85 called Determining The Will of God. 00:55:53.05\00:55:54.81 It's got twelve steps on what are the Biblical principles 00:55:54.91\00:55:57.65 for knowing what God's will is for my life. 00:55:57.85\00:55:59.54 We all know God wants us to serve Him 00:55:59.84\00:56:01.64 and to surrender our lives to Him. 00:56:01.94\00:56:03.36 But we often have to make decisions, and we sometimes 00:56:03.66\00:56:06.11 want to know: "How do I know what God's will is? " 00:56:06.21\00:56:08.69 Scripture, Christian counsel, 00:56:09.19\00:56:11.82 look for providential opening, 00:56:12.02\00:56:13.83 the impressions of the Spirit. 00:56:14.03\00:56:15.36 So there's a number of tips there that you can look at. 00:56:15.56\00:56:18.03 You know it's amazing. We got through all of our questions 00:56:18.53\00:56:20.22 with a minute left. Give them some closing thoughts 00:56:20.42\00:56:22.30 before we take the program out. 00:56:22.50\00:56:24.68 Oh, that's a tough one. 00:56:24.98\00:56:27.27 Well, let me just reiterate 00:56:27.87\00:56:31.77 the longer I live the more I know I don't know. 00:56:31.97\00:56:34.11 And so even when you stand up here and you share Bible 00:56:34.41\00:56:37.33 answers with people, you know you're doing some of it by 00:56:37.43\00:56:40.56 permission and not by command. 00:56:40.66\00:56:42.28 You're just doing the best you can to share what you understand 00:56:42.58\00:56:45.57 the truth to be. But I tell everybody: 00:56:45.78\00:56:47.61 "You need to read your Bibles for yourself 00:56:47.71\00:56:49.74 and don't be trusting any pastor 00:56:49.94\00:56:52.05 that like they have all the answers. It's ultimately 00:56:52.26\00:56:54.97 we've got to know by comparing scripture with scripture 00:56:55.27\00:56:57.92 and having a personal relationship with Jesus. 00:56:58.22\00:57:00.78 Our theology and our faith is going to be tested 00:57:01.18\00:57:03.57 in the near future like never before. 00:57:03.68\00:57:05.64 And as individuals, as churches, 00:57:06.14\00:57:08.85 as a people, we're going to be challenged about what we believe 00:57:08.95\00:57:12.32 and why we believe it. And we need to be able to say 00:57:12.52\00:57:14.82 "Thus saith the Lord" and stand upon 00:57:15.02\00:57:17.16 the promises in God's Word. 00:57:17.36\00:57:19.10 Well thank you, Doug. Can we say amen church? 00:57:19.30\00:57:20.87 Amen! Don't forget tomorrow morning we continue our 00:57:21.17\00:57:23.47 Camp Meeting beginning at 9 o'clock tomorrow morning. 00:57:23.57\00:57:25.93 So God bless you and we will see you then. 00:57:26.13\00:57:28.64
