Wow! I tell you, that first hour... 00:00:50.67\00:00:53.47 Man, just hearing you sing 00:00:53.67\00:00:59.17 and the power of the gospel in music... 00:00:59.47\00:01:04.89 I really was blessed and I hope you were too. 00:01:05.19\00:01:08.29 Amen! We're looking forward to the rest of this Camp Meeting. 00:01:08.59\00:01:12.22 And by the way, if you're at home and you can make it here 00:01:12.62\00:01:17.75 come on. We'll have a seat for you. 00:01:17.96\00:01:19.91 But if you are not able to be here with us, 00:01:20.31\00:01:24.97 then be sure to tune in 00:01:25.17\00:01:27.19 because I believe God's really going to bless. 00:01:27.60\00:01:29.59 We've got another message here now. We have a message 00:01:29.89\00:01:33.10 and then in the third hour tonight you've heard 00:01:33.40\00:01:38.15 Doug Batchelor do his question and answer on 00:01:38.45\00:01:41.96 television, on radio. And he's going to be doing one live 00:01:42.06\00:01:46.71 here. So if you do have questions, 00:01:46.91\00:01:49.15 you can get them... put them on a piece of paper 00:01:49.55\00:01:51.79 and get them to somebody. We'll try to get them up here 00:01:51.99\00:01:54.76 and have them for you in the third hour of tonight's meeting. 00:01:55.07\00:02:00.81 We have already some people that have heard that we were 00:02:01.05\00:02:04.90 going to do this, and they've already lined up 00:02:05.00\00:02:06.82 a few questions. So we have some to start with 00:02:07.02\00:02:09.71 and that is extremely good. 00:02:10.01\00:02:11.97 Welcome. We are so glad that you are here. 00:02:12.01\00:02:16.05 And we're going to be blessed by some music 00:02:16.85\00:02:22.47 by Tammy Chance. 00:02:22.67\00:02:24.92 I love to hear Tammy sing - Amen! - 00:02:25.12\00:02:27.08 and she's going to sing for us In His Arms. 00:02:27.29\00:02:32.47 When the sky is full of clouds, 00:02:55.08\00:02:59.88 when my heart is full of doubt, 00:03:00.29\00:03:05.12 when I'm torn within/without 00:03:05.52\00:03:09.76 by the reckless grip of fear. 00:03:10.06\00:03:15.02 When I've taken all I can, 00:03:16.39\00:03:20.88 when I lack the strength to stand, 00:03:21.18\00:03:26.47 when it seems my closest friend 00:03:26.87\00:03:31.24 is the pain of lonely tears. 00:03:31.44\00:03:37.06 Into His arms of love 00:03:39.95\00:03:43.58 I just come runnin' 00:03:43.78\00:03:47.96 knowing that I'll be safe 00:03:50.77\00:03:54.00 from others' harm. 00:03:54.30\00:03:58.66 He lifts me up and swings me around, 00:04:01.26\00:04:06.18 holds me and says that I'm safe and sound. 00:04:06.48\00:04:11.15 I don't ever want to leave. 00:04:11.46\00:04:16.40 There'll always be room for me 00:04:16.80\00:04:21.17 in His arms. 00:04:21.37\00:04:27.33 Arms of love and protection, 00:04:32.12\00:04:37.05 arms of strength and direction, 00:04:37.25\00:04:42.41 arms of comfort, peace, and hope 00:04:42.81\00:04:47.69 when the winds of sorrows blow. 00:04:48.09\00:04:53.90 Into His arms of love... 00:04:54.40\00:04:59.06 Into His arms of love 00:04:59.56\00:05:02.93 I just come runnin' 00:05:03.13\00:05:07.94 knowing that I'll be safe 00:05:10.23\00:05:13.75 from others' harm. 00:05:14.05\00:05:17.93 Ooh-ooh-ooh. 00:05:18.23\00:05:20.84 He lifts me up and swings me around, 00:05:21.04\00:05:25.64 holds me and says that I'm safe and sound. 00:05:26.04\00:05:30.80 I don't ever want to leave. 00:05:31.11\00:05:35.95 There'll always be room for me. 00:05:36.45\00:05:40.84 He picks me up and swings me around, 00:05:41.34\00:05:47.01 holds me and says that I'm safe and sound. 00:05:47.41\00:05:52.13 I don't ever want to leave. 00:05:52.44\00:05:58.08 I know there'll always be room for me 00:05:59.81\00:06:05.75 in His arms... 00:06:07.44\00:06:13.42 in His arms. 00:06:18.48\00:06:24.41 Amen. 00:06:24.91\00:06:26.14 Thank you, Tammy. 00:06:28.11\00:06:29.80 It was a long time ago, 00:06:33.79\00:06:35.83 and at that particular time I had a ministry 00:06:36.81\00:06:40.81 where I was holding evangelistic meetings 00:06:41.31\00:06:44.35 and I funded that with a business. 00:06:44.55\00:06:47.68 It was supposed to be a profitable business. 00:06:48.18\00:06:50.81 It was not non-profit... 00:06:51.48\00:06:53.37 although it often ended up that way. 00:06:53.77\00:06:56.14 A young man came and told me that he was 00:06:58.41\00:07:01.78 needing a sound system and projectors and all this... 00:07:01.98\00:07:06.94 that he was going into evangelism. 00:07:07.24\00:07:09.76 And I had met him before. 00:07:10.63\00:07:13.53 He was a student at Southwestern Adventist University. 00:07:13.73\00:07:16.81 Was college at the time. 00:07:17.11\00:07:18.87 And I said: "But you've only been there six months. " 00:07:19.17\00:07:24.29 He said: "I've learned all they can teach me. " 00:07:24.72\00:07:27.01 Which was probably true... 00:07:29.19\00:07:31.05 And I had no idea. I thought... I said: "Doug, 00:07:32.77\00:07:37.04 don't you want to go ahead and finish college? " 00:07:37.54\00:07:41.57 He said: "No, the Lord is coming soon. I want to start 00:07:41.77\00:07:44.22 preaching. " Amen! Cyril Miller was the president 00:07:44.33\00:07:47.74 of the conference. Cyril Miller was a man 00:07:48.05\00:07:50.49 who was very unusual. 00:07:50.79\00:07:52.77 When Doug came and said "I want to begin to preach" 00:07:54.05\00:08:00.05 Cyril said: "I'll give you a place to preach. " 00:08:00.25\00:08:02.57 Amen. And he did. 00:08:02.77\00:08:04.66 And as they say the rest is history. 00:08:05.91\00:08:08.27 God has blessed his ministry, 00:08:08.77\00:08:11.19 and no one that I know knows the Word of God 00:08:11.49\00:08:17.47 better than Doug. He studies it 00:08:17.57\00:08:19.64 and he lives it 00:08:20.54\00:08:23.80 and he preaches it. Amen. 00:08:24.68\00:08:28.22 Doug and his wife Karen live in California. 00:08:28.72\00:08:31.50 He for 20 years was pastor of the Sacramento Central church 00:08:32.80\00:08:37.06 as well as being the Speaker/Director of 00:08:37.16\00:08:39.57 Amazing Facts. Recently he started a new church 00:08:39.67\00:08:45.15 called Granite Bay. It was a spin-off from Sac. Central. 00:08:45.35\00:08:49.08 They all worked together. It was not a break-off 00:08:49.18\00:08:51.32 or anything like that. But they planted a new church. 00:08:51.53\00:08:54.11 And now Doug is the pastor at Granite Bay 00:08:55.17\00:08:58.67 as well as continuing to be the Speaker/Director 00:08:58.87\00:09:02.17 for Amazing Facts. 00:09:02.58\00:09:06.56 He is beginning again the Sabbath School program 00:09:07.78\00:09:12.13 that he's had for years. He had it at Sac. Central. 00:09:12.33\00:09:14.60 He's now beginning it at Granite Bay. 00:09:15.01\00:09:17.80 And you are the first to hear that we will be carrying 00:09:18.78\00:09:23.29 that Sabbath School program on 3ABN. Amen! 00:09:23.69\00:09:28.34 So Doug Batchelor will continue teaching 00:09:28.84\00:09:31.45 Sabbath School here on our channel every week. 00:09:31.65\00:09:37.22 This is the first time he's heard that, too... 00:09:37.66\00:09:40.10 so you're hear... this is an announcement. 00:09:40.31\00:09:44.32 I'm getting looks from people here that we didn't take that 00:09:44.72\00:09:47.56 through committee. Well you know they made me the president; 00:09:47.66\00:09:50.87 every once in a while I have to act like it. 00:09:51.07\00:09:52.94 We love Doug... we really do love him. 00:09:57.23\00:10:01.50 And he's going to come and preach now. 00:10:01.80\00:10:04.73 He's going to lead us in a word of prayer 00:10:04.93\00:10:06.40 as he begins his message. 00:10:06.70\00:10:08.97 Thank you, Elder Gilley. 00:10:11.07\00:10:12.64 Hello, friends. Hello! It's so good to see each of you here 00:10:14.97\00:10:19.46 and it's really good to be back at 3ABN. 00:10:19.66\00:10:21.61 I just met in the back with Mitch, and we had prayer 00:10:22.01\00:10:25.33 together. And I remember it's been over 20 years ago 00:10:25.43\00:10:28.20 when 3ABN was all in one building 00:10:28.30\00:10:30.78 and I would stay in an apartment right next to the up-link 00:10:30.88\00:10:33.77 broadcaster. Mitch was there then, 00:10:33.87\00:10:35.56 and I'd always come in in the middle of the night 00:10:35.86\00:10:37.46 because I was coming from California. So it was so good to 00:10:37.56\00:10:40.29 see so many old friends and the history of it all. 00:10:40.49\00:10:42.71 And a delight to be here with you. A delight to 00:10:43.01\00:10:45.39 be with our friends that might be viewing right now. 00:10:45.49\00:10:48.42 And I've got some really exciting things to tell you. 00:10:48.92\00:10:51.50 As a matter of fact, I'm not going to tell you now... 00:10:51.90\00:10:54.26 just give you a little more encouragement to come back. 00:10:54.46\00:10:56.91 I've got some pictures I'll show you that... about 3ABN... 00:10:57.11\00:11:00.88 a little secret you might not know 00:11:00.98\00:11:02.94 that I'm going to save. I just thought of it, and I 00:11:03.24\00:11:05.36 don't have the picture with me. But I'll give it to the studio. 00:11:05.46\00:11:07.49 We'll show it maybe tomorrow night. 00:11:07.59\00:11:09.37 Some pretty exciting things that are happening. 00:11:09.57\00:11:11.28 I just came back from Australia 00:11:11.58\00:11:13.70 and so you know there's a big time change between 00:11:14.00\00:11:18.41 Illinois and Australia. 00:11:18.71\00:11:20.67 So I'll make you a deal: I won't talk in your sleep 00:11:21.17\00:11:26.03 and I won't talk in my sleep either. 00:11:26.23\00:11:28.96 But just very glad we can get together and... 00:11:31.21\00:11:34.19 and see so many of our friends. Thank you for coming. 00:11:34.39\00:11:37.35 We're going to be talking this weekend 00:11:37.85\00:11:41.28 about the subject of storms. 00:11:41.48\00:11:43.49 And I think that's very appropriate now. 00:11:44.09\00:11:46.27 When 3ABN first called me a while back and said: 00:11:46.47\00:11:48.90 "Do you know what your theme will be? " 00:11:49.00\00:11:50.57 I said: "Well I think we're facing a very serious storm 00:11:50.77\00:11:54.55 in the world and even in the church. Amen! 00:11:54.75\00:11:58.31 And I think we need to be preparing ourselves 00:11:58.45\00:12:01.27 and praying about how we can survive the coming storms. 00:12:01.48\00:12:06.20 And so in our meetings together during this Camp Meeting 00:12:06.40\00:12:09.87 we'll be looking at a variety of storms 00:12:10.17\00:12:11.89 that you find in the Bible. 00:12:11.99\00:12:13.43 Some that are in the past and some in the future. 00:12:13.73\00:12:16.51 Tonight we're going to be talk- ing about a storm in the past. 00:12:18.12\00:12:21.13 But before we do that I'd like to pray with you 00:12:21.53\00:12:23.83 and just ask for God's presence to be here. 00:12:24.23\00:12:26.49 Father in heaven, we're just so thankful 00:12:28.40\00:12:30.30 for the opportunity we have to come together. 00:12:30.50\00:12:32.89 You have promised, Lord, that if we draw near to You 00:12:33.39\00:12:36.78 You will draw near to us. 00:12:36.99\00:12:38.74 And occasions like this for Camp Meeting, both those 00:12:38.94\00:12:41.57 who are here physically, those who have joined us 00:12:41.67\00:12:43.92 through the satellite and the TV audience 00:12:44.12\00:12:46.35 we are tuning in and we're drawing near because we're 00:12:46.76\00:12:49.93 seeking Your face. And Lord, I pray that You will now 00:12:50.03\00:12:53.21 honor that promise and draw near to us. 00:12:53.41\00:12:55.53 Be with me as I share. I pray that it is ultimately 00:12:55.73\00:12:58.89 Your face that we see and Your voice that we hear. 00:12:59.09\00:13:02.43 Bless now, and may Christ be exalted. 00:13:02.73\00:13:04.88 We pray in His name, Amen. Amen. 00:13:05.18\00:13:08.23 Now as we're talking about storms 00:13:09.62\00:13:11.47 I thought it'd be very appropriate to talk first 00:13:11.57\00:13:14.07 about the first big storm: the flood of Noah. 00:13:14.17\00:13:17.62 And so that's going to be our subject for tonight. 00:13:18.12\00:13:19.78 There's a lot we can learn about that. 00:13:19.88\00:13:21.61 And just as I came in to the complex today 00:13:21.81\00:13:26.74 I was met by one of my friends from Remnant Publications. 00:13:26.94\00:13:29.95 And they reminded me. They said: "You know, Doug, 00:13:30.15\00:13:31.61 we've got this new book on Noah. And I said: "Well that's perfect 00:13:31.71\00:13:34.25 for tonight because we're talk- ing about the storm of Noah. " 00:13:34.45\00:13:37.70 They've put together a wonderful book 00:13:37.90\00:13:39.52 that is a combination of some inspired statements 00:13:39.82\00:13:43.26 and parts of Patriarchs and Prophets 00:13:43.46\00:13:46.61 that is very relevant for things happening in the church today. 00:13:46.81\00:13:49.49 And I know that they prepared this so that people can also 00:13:49.79\00:13:52.33 share them. You want to see the Remnant book on Noah. 00:13:52.44\00:13:55.68 If you turn in your Bibles, 00:13:56.08\00:13:58.28 I'm not going to start with Genesis... I'm going to start 00:13:58.58\00:14:00.41 with Jesus. Matthew chapter 7 verse 24. 00:14:00.51\00:14:05.72 This will come up several times during our weekend together. 00:14:06.22\00:14:09.41 Jesus said, after His great Sermon on the Mount, 00:14:11.44\00:14:15.67 He summarizes everything by making a very simple proverb. 00:14:16.07\00:14:21.04 "Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine 00:14:22.43\00:14:25.10 and does them I will liken him to a wise man 00:14:25.30\00:14:28.84 who builds his house on the rock. 00:14:29.04\00:14:30.74 And the rain descends and the floods came 00:14:31.04\00:14:34.77 and the winds blew and beat on the house 00:14:35.17\00:14:38.77 and it did not fall because it was founded on the rock. " 00:14:39.17\00:14:42.97 Now you know the rest of it. There's the wise man 00:14:43.67\00:14:45.95 and then there's a foolish man. 00:14:46.05\00:14:47.60 Now you know the wise man and the foolish man have several 00:14:48.00\00:14:49.95 things in common. The wise man builds a house; 00:14:50.06\00:14:53.37 foolish man builds a house. 00:14:53.57\00:14:55.47 The wise man hears the words of Jesus; 00:14:56.20\00:14:58.28 the foolish man hears the words of Jesus. 00:14:58.48\00:15:00.35 A storm comes to the wise man and a storm comes to the foolish 00:15:01.23\00:15:04.65 man. There's only one thing that separates the wise man 00:15:04.75\00:15:08.28 from the foolish man: the wise man hears the words 00:15:08.48\00:15:12.81 and does them and he prepares for the storm. 00:15:13.01\00:15:17.85 This is going to separate a great host of people who are 00:15:19.04\00:15:22.04 saying "Lord, Lord" from those who really hear and do 00:15:22.14\00:15:26.12 the word of the Lord in the last days. 00:15:26.32\00:15:28.47 And Noah stands out as some- body who is not only a hearer 00:15:28.97\00:15:32.99 but a doer. Now Jesus tells us 00:15:33.39\00:15:38.62 that this is a relevant theme because He also said 00:15:38.72\00:15:41.16 in Matthew 24. This is the chapter where Jesus discusses 00:15:41.26\00:15:44.63 all of the signs that portend the second coming. 00:15:44.74\00:15:48.04 Matthew 24. You'll also find this in Mark 13, 00:15:48.55\00:15:52.62 Luke 17, Luke 21. 00:15:52.82\00:15:54.46 Jesus said: "But as the days of Noah were 00:15:55.71\00:15:58.74 so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. 00:15:58.84\00:16:02.14 For as in the days before the flood 00:16:02.64\00:16:05.13 they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage 00:16:05.43\00:16:09.11 until the day that they entered the ark, and they did not know 00:16:09.31\00:16:13.07 until the flood came and took them all away. 00:16:13.37\00:16:16.32 So also will the coming of the Son of Man be. " 00:16:16.72\00:16:19.84 Now these are some words that really ought to get our 00:16:20.34\00:16:22.20 attention. Jesus has told us 00:16:22.30\00:16:24.56 if you want to understand something about the nature 00:16:24.66\00:16:26.76 of the world and the church before the second coming 00:16:26.86\00:16:29.40 look at the story of Noah 00:16:29.60\00:16:31.52 because conditions will be similar. 00:16:31.83\00:16:34.92 As a matter of fact, in Luke He also says it will be like 00:16:35.23\00:16:38.88 the days of Lot. And He says: "They bought, they sold, 00:16:39.08\00:16:42.33 they planted and they builded. " 00:16:42.43\00:16:44.15 So notice some of the things. 00:16:44.45\00:16:46.67 First Jesus said: "Marrying and giving in marriage. " 00:16:46.87\00:16:49.71 Why did He say that? 00:16:49.91\00:16:51.36 Anything wrong with marrying? 00:16:51.56\00:16:53.11 Has there been a time in the history of man where there was 00:16:53.41\00:16:55.54 no marriage? How can that be a sign? 00:16:55.64\00:16:58.68 If you look in Genesis 6 00:16:58.98\00:17:00.96 God describes what was going on in the world 00:17:01.16\00:17:03.70 just before He called Noah. Genesis chapter 6 00:17:04.10\00:17:06.77 and I'll go to verse 1. 00:17:07.76\00:17:12.39 "Now it came to pass when men began to multiply 00:17:14.60\00:17:17.18 on the face of the earth and daughters were born to them 00:17:17.28\00:17:20.47 that the sons of God saw the daughters of men 00:17:20.87\00:17:24.45 that they were beautiful. And they took wives for themselves 00:17:24.65\00:17:27.85 of all whom they chose. And then the Lord said: 00:17:27.96\00:17:31.88 'My spirit will not strive with man forever 00:17:31.98\00:17:34.45 for he is indeed flesh, yet his days will be 120 years. ' 00:17:34.66\00:17:38.40 And there were giants in the earth in those days. 00:17:39.83\00:17:42.10 Also afterward when the sons of God came into the daughters 00:17:42.30\00:17:45.49 of men and they bore children to them. " 00:17:45.59\00:17:47.80 So it's telling us that just before this declaration 00:17:48.30\00:17:52.11 that the thoughts of men's hearts were only evil 00:17:52.32\00:17:55.24 continually and God calls Noah, something was happening with 00:17:55.54\00:17:59.54 marriage. "The sons of God... " You know, you can actually find 00:18:00.10\00:18:03.81 some translations that really slaughter this verse 00:18:03.91\00:18:06.35 and they say things like aliens 00:18:07.40\00:18:10.80 or fallen angels had intimate relations with humans 00:18:11.00\00:18:14.61 and had these - you know - amalgamated children. 00:18:14.71\00:18:17.46 And that's not at all what it's talking about. 00:18:17.76\00:18:19.50 It's talking about up until this point 00:18:19.90\00:18:22.39 those who were faithful to God - the descendants of Seth 00:18:22.42\00:18:25.85 and his offspring that were faithful to worship Jehovah, 00:18:25.95\00:18:28.76 that were still offering like Abel did to God - 00:18:29.06\00:18:32.13 they were staying distant from the daughters and the children 00:18:32.53\00:18:36.26 of Cain. They would not intermarry. 00:18:36.36\00:18:37.98 Just like God told the children of Israel: "Be careful 00:18:38.08\00:18:39.89 when you come to the Promised Land that you don't 00:18:39.99\00:18:41.58 enter into marriages with the unbelievers, with the pagans, 00:18:41.68\00:18:45.00 because you'll forget about Me. " 00:18:45.23\00:18:46.81 Just like Solomon. What got him in trouble? 00:18:47.01\00:18:48.74 And when the sons of Seth - called the sons of God... 00:18:50.14\00:18:53.58 The Bible says: "Behold what manner of love... " 00:18:54.89\00:18:56.98 I John chapter 3... "the Father has bestowed on us 00:18:57.18\00:18:59.84 that we should be called sons of God. " 00:18:59.94\00:19:01.62 It's talking about the church. 00:19:01.82\00:19:03.15 When the believers began to intermarry with the daughters 00:19:03.35\00:19:05.53 of Cain... and they were beautiful! 00:19:05.63\00:19:06.97 Like Samson: "Get her for me; she pleases me well. " 00:19:08.32\00:19:11.74 You know, that didn't end very well, did it? 00:19:12.15\00:19:13.90 And he wanted a Philistine bride. 00:19:14.20\00:19:16.20 And when they began to inter- marry, the children of God 00:19:18.37\00:19:21.74 lost their unique, peculiar distinction 00:19:21.94\00:19:25.51 and the holiness was diluted. And then they began... You know, 00:19:25.81\00:19:29.52 if you get a believer and an unbeliever and they somehow 00:19:29.82\00:19:34.48 think that they're going to work it out 00:19:34.68\00:19:36.34 it seems like there's a siphon effect. 00:19:37.76\00:19:40.29 I've got two tanks up in the country in the hills. 00:19:40.99\00:19:45.53 Spring runs into one tank and the two tanks are connected. 00:19:45.73\00:19:49.30 And you never have a problem with one tank being more full 00:19:49.80\00:19:52.92 than the other tank. Because they're connected at the bottom 00:19:53.02\00:19:55.20 they automatically even out. 00:19:55.40\00:19:57.64 They go down together. I only have to check one tank. 00:19:57.84\00:19:59.99 So if you get a believer and they marry an unbeliever 00:20:00.23\00:20:02.76 the believer... his faith is going to go down. 00:20:02.96\00:20:05.98 We're all influenced... as much as we think that we can 00:20:06.28\00:20:08.36 stand firm. And hopefully the other one comes up. 00:20:08.46\00:20:12.66 And I've seen God bless where sometimes the unbeliever 00:20:12.76\00:20:15.74 will be converted and God is good in spite of 00:20:15.84\00:20:18.56 our stubbornness. Sometimes He works those things out. 00:20:18.66\00:20:21.11 But the Bible says we should not be unequally yoked together. 00:20:21.41\00:20:24.72 Amen! And it's not just the marriages. 00:20:25.03\00:20:28.31 You know, I thought there was something interesting. 00:20:29.85\00:20:32.17 I confirmed it today. I went online and I read that 00:20:32.37\00:20:34.55 one of the things that brought about the flood according to the 00:20:34.95\00:20:37.69 rabbis who read the Babylonian Talmud... 00:20:37.79\00:20:40.52 Now the Babylonian Talmud are the scriptures and some 00:20:40.72\00:20:43.67 Jewish writings that pre-date the time of Christ 00:20:43.87\00:20:46.65 by several hundred years... 00:20:46.85\00:20:48.09 is that not just the time of Lot 00:20:48.39\00:20:51.33 but before the time of the flood they say men were entering 00:20:51.63\00:20:55.56 into marriage contracts with men. 00:20:55.66\00:20:58.37 And so that was one of the signs that pre-dated the flood. 00:20:58.77\00:21:02.31 "As it was in the days of Noah... " 00:21:02.41\00:21:04.59 "As it was in the days of Lot... " 00:21:04.89\00:21:07.32 "so will it be in the days when the Son of Man returns. " 00:21:07.62\00:21:10.39 Now I grew up in the world - 00:21:11.71\00:21:14.25 you know, my first 17, 18 years - 00:21:14.45\00:21:16.74 and if you had told me growing up that in my lifetime 00:21:17.04\00:21:20.83 it would become incorrect to say 00:21:21.03\00:21:26.32 there is something wrong with men marrying men and women 00:21:26.42\00:21:28.47 marrying women I would have scoffed. 00:21:28.57\00:21:31.11 Things are changing fast. 00:21:32.40\00:21:34.17 And, you know, even as I say this now on TV there are 00:21:34.57\00:21:37.86 some countries you're not allowed to even say that. 00:21:37.96\00:21:39.98 It's called "hate speech" if you read the Bible. 00:21:40.18\00:21:42.07 But this is one of the things that God said would describe 00:21:43.20\00:21:45.95 the conditions in the world. 00:21:46.15\00:21:47.31 Said they'd be marrying and giving in marriage. 00:21:47.71\00:21:49.53 They'd be marrying and divorcing. 00:21:49.74\00:21:51.45 And by the way, you know, we don't say much about it now 00:21:51.85\00:21:55.48 because it seems like the same-sex marriage 00:21:55.58\00:21:59.54 advocates have taken so much of the spotlight 00:21:59.74\00:22:02.92 people aren't saying very much about the multiple marriages 00:22:03.22\00:22:06.01 that are happening... meaning polygamy. 00:22:06.11\00:22:08.17 I understand they've got a TV program that just grandstands 00:22:08.47\00:22:11.68 one guy married to several sisters. 00:22:11.78\00:22:13.52 And really, how can you argue against that? 00:22:15.02\00:22:16.94 Because if you're arguing for same-sex marriage 00:22:17.24\00:22:20.29 as long as you're loving, consenting adults you can do 00:22:20.49\00:22:22.91 whatever you want, then what about 2 women marrying 2 men? 00:22:23.01\00:22:27.08 I mean, really... how can you argue against it? 00:22:28.69\00:22:32.76 And this is what's happening to our culture. 00:22:34.19\00:22:36.10 The thoughts of men's hearts were only evil continually. 00:22:36.30\00:22:39.50 Verse 5: "Then the Lord saw that the wickedness of man 00:22:40.72\00:22:45.36 was great in the earth and every intent of the thought 00:22:45.46\00:22:48.76 of his heart was only evil. " And that simply means selfish. 00:22:48.86\00:22:51.71 Was only selfish continually. 00:22:52.11\00:22:55.53 And this is one of the tragic verses in the Bible: 00:22:55.77\00:22:59.65 "The Lord was sorry that He made man. " 00:22:59.96\00:23:03.26 He wanted life to be a blessing for man. 00:23:04.44\00:23:06.75 He wanted man to be a glory to the universe. 00:23:06.85\00:23:09.35 And when He saw how they were just self-destroying 00:23:09.75\00:23:13.47 "the Lord was sorry that He made man. " 00:23:13.67\00:23:16.48 Well you know, conditions are getting very much like they were 00:23:16.88\00:23:20.01 back then. I started going down the road 00:23:20.12\00:23:22.83 of talking about some of the different things... 00:23:22.93\00:23:24.38 not only marrying and giving in marriage. It says: 00:23:24.58\00:23:27.81 "planting. " Well, that means they're going to be farming 00:23:29.20\00:23:33.57 right up until Jesus comes. 00:23:33.67\00:23:35.24 But it's not just doing things, 00:23:35.64\00:23:37.63 it's doing it in unusual ways like never before. 00:23:37.73\00:23:41.84 Now when I was born a family could handle about 00:23:42.24\00:23:45.36 160 acres. Actually, even before that. 00:23:45.46\00:23:51.18 And now because of mechanized farming 00:23:52.66\00:23:55.49 I think it was 2 years ago - may have been this year - 00:23:57.03\00:24:00.47 that for the first time in history the majority of the 00:24:00.77\00:24:04.25 planet's population now lives in the cities. 00:24:04.55\00:24:07.71 Used to take a lot of people living in the country 00:24:08.21\00:24:10.42 farming in order to supply for the people living in the cities. 00:24:10.62\00:24:13.24 And now because of mechanized planting and farming 00:24:13.54\00:24:16.06 and bioengineering of seeds 00:24:16.26\00:24:21.42 that people are planting like they've never planted before. 00:24:21.72\00:24:26.01 And "building. " Well you say "They've always been building. " 00:24:27.03\00:24:30.15 They've never had buildings as big as they are now. 00:24:30.55\00:24:32.94 I was in Dubai a couple of years ago 00:24:33.14\00:24:35.76 and you know, the biggest building in the world, at least 00:24:36.06\00:24:38.53 for right now, is there. And I told my son: 00:24:38.63\00:24:41.50 "I've got to at least go there. " 00:24:41.60\00:24:43.76 And you know, I thought it was very interesting: 00:24:44.16\00:24:45.76 not that far from where the Tower of Babel was built 00:24:45.96\00:24:48.67 man has now built a building. 00:24:48.87\00:24:50.85 The Burj Dubai - Burj Khalifa - they changed the name 00:24:51.05\00:24:55.57 a couple times. I just... It's staggering 00:24:55.87\00:25:00.15 how high it is. And I grew up in New York City 00:25:00.45\00:25:02.84 and the Empire State Building, the World Trade Center. 00:25:03.35\00:25:06.94 I've been on all these buildings, many tall buildings 00:25:07.14\00:25:09.38 around the world, but this thing is epic. 00:25:09.48\00:25:12.01 Now the Chinese don't want to be outdone. 00:25:12.41\00:25:16.18 They have engineered a building the they're going to build 00:25:16.48\00:25:18.94 that is over a mile high 00:25:19.14\00:25:20.85 if you can imagine. I'm serious. 00:25:21.05\00:25:22.94 And I've been to China. I was in China earlier this year. 00:25:23.35\00:25:26.90 And I'll maybe tell you about that later. 00:25:27.20\00:25:29.37 I have no doubts that they have the engineers that can do it. 00:25:29.57\00:25:32.15 It is just phenomenal! Planting and building and 00:25:33.06\00:25:35.98 marrying and eating and drinking... 00:25:36.18\00:25:38.99 both in Jesus' statement to the people in Noah's day 00:25:39.29\00:25:42.93 and the people prior to the destruction of 00:25:43.24\00:25:45.15 Sodom and Gomorrah. Christ specifically says eating 00:25:45.26\00:25:47.12 and drinking. Now anyone here that enjoys eating and drinking? 00:25:47.22\00:25:50.13 Doesn't say drinking what. I mean... you know... 00:25:50.44\00:25:52.42 I took a drink just before I walked out here 00:25:53.95\00:25:55.90 of water. 00:25:56.60\00:25:58.38 But the scale. You know, we are living in the 00:26:00.64\00:26:04.26 first time in history... I actually read this about 00:26:04.46\00:26:07.23 three years ago in National Geographic... 00:26:07.33\00:26:10.39 where the problem in the world is not mal-nutrition 00:26:10.59\00:26:13.69 but over-nutrition. 00:26:14.09\00:26:16.66 First time in the world where the problem... the biggest 00:26:17.16\00:26:20.37 health problem in the world... is people not under eating 00:26:20.57\00:26:23.85 but over eating. 00:26:24.15\00:26:25.72 Eating and drinking, planting and building, 00:26:26.65\00:26:30.15 marrying and giving in marriage. 00:26:30.35\00:26:32.18 These things are all happening on steroids right now. 00:26:32.48\00:26:35.29 Christ said that's how it will be just before the end. 00:26:36.56\00:26:39.18 And in the backdrop of all the wickedness... 00:26:40.57\00:26:43.77 Oh yeah, and then God also says violence filled the earth. 00:26:43.97\00:26:48.38 Do we see that? Amen. 00:26:51.86\00:26:54.46 Now it's a horrific thing to even consider. 00:26:54.76\00:26:59.38 You don't even want the mental picture. 00:26:59.58\00:27:01.43 But it seems like every week now we're hearing about 00:27:01.83\00:27:04.93 some terrorist that's taking some innocent person 00:27:05.13\00:27:08.22 and on videotape they're beheading them. 00:27:08.33\00:27:11.61 And sadly, some people won't even be moved by that. 00:27:14.06\00:27:17.23 I refuse to even watch that because who wants those images 00:27:17.33\00:27:20.13 in your mind? And you don't want to give it credibility. 00:27:20.33\00:27:22.81 But just knowing that. 00:27:23.21\00:27:26.15 The problem is: the average American young person 00:27:26.35\00:27:30.40 wouldn't have any problem with watching television programs 00:27:30.60\00:27:34.41 or movies where there's all kinds of beheading going on 00:27:34.61\00:27:36.86 and violence and shooting... and doing it for entertainment. 00:27:36.96\00:27:39.22 "Ah, " they said, "special effects. " 00:27:39.32\00:27:40.97 So that our consciences become callous. 00:27:42.19\00:27:45.17 Violence. People can be violent vicariously. 00:27:46.52\00:27:50.30 Folks, you say: "I would never murder; 00:27:51.15\00:27:53.10 I'd never kill; I'd never shoot or stab... 00:27:53.30\00:27:55.10 but I enjoy watching others do it on television. " 00:27:55.50\00:27:58.12 Paul talks about not only those that do them but those 00:28:00.43\00:28:03.11 that have pleasure in those that do them. 00:28:03.21\00:28:05.92 A lot of folks are entertained by violence. 00:28:06.32\00:28:09.75 It's what's happening in the heart. 00:28:10.05\00:28:12.69 And those conditions are going to be the conditions 00:28:13.29\00:28:15.09 in the world before Jesus comes back. 00:28:15.19\00:28:17.09 But in spite of all this... You know, I love the way it 00:28:17.96\00:28:20.47 first introduces Noah. Genesis 6 verse 8 00:28:20.57\00:28:25.61 talks about Noah being perfect in his generations. 00:28:25.91\00:28:29.39 And it says: "But Noah found grace 00:28:29.79\00:28:34.78 in the eyes of the Lord. " 00:28:34.98\00:28:37.14 Starts... When Noah is intro- duced Noah is saved by grace. 00:28:38.60\00:28:43.59 But notice what else. It expands on Noah and his 00:28:43.99\00:28:47.07 relationship with God. "This is the genealogy of Noah: 00:28:47.17\00:28:50.92 Noah was a just man, perfect in his generations, 00:28:51.23\00:28:55.33 and Noah walked with God. " 00:28:55.63\00:28:57.80 God gave Noah grace to walk with Him. 00:28:58.20\00:29:02.27 God gives us all that grace. 00:29:02.87\00:29:05.56 That grace is available for everybody. 00:29:05.76\00:29:07.80 Now Noah actually had an ancestor by the name of Enoch 00:29:08.20\00:29:11.89 who set a good example of walking with God. 00:29:12.09\00:29:14.23 "And Enoch was not for God took him 00:29:14.33\00:29:16.71 for he had this testimony: that he pleased God. " 00:29:17.01\00:29:19.14 He walked with God. What does it mean to walk with God? 00:29:19.24\00:29:22.91 Does it mean that you're going down the road from Jerusalem 00:29:23.21\00:29:25.89 to Emmaus with Jesus? 00:29:26.09\00:29:27.51 They were walking with God... they didn't even know it. 00:29:27.81\00:29:29.69 What does it mean: "your walk? " 00:29:32.59\00:29:34.56 Christ has given us an example that we should walk even as 00:29:34.86\00:29:37.47 He walked. It's talking about your daily relationship 00:29:37.57\00:29:41.58 with the Lord. When you know what the path is 00:29:41.68\00:29:44.61 that God wants you to walk and you walk in that path. 00:29:44.71\00:29:46.83 And a walk is not a jump; it's not a run; it's not a hop. 00:29:48.05\00:29:51.53 It's plodding... it's just going on. 00:29:52.13\00:29:56.33 You can talk to a person and walk. 00:29:56.43\00:29:58.73 You ever jog next to someone, try and carry on a conversation? 00:29:59.03\00:30:01.80 It's kind of hard unless you're in really good shape. 00:30:02.54\00:30:04.50 But walking's a little more conversational. 00:30:06.21\00:30:09.29 The Lord wants us to have a relationship where we walk 00:30:09.69\00:30:12.20 with Him. You know, whenever I think about this 00:30:12.30\00:30:14.93 I'm reminded of a gentleman named David Kunst 00:30:15.13\00:30:19.26 from Waseca, MN, who walked around the world. 00:30:19.46\00:30:22.93 He was a surveyor, and one day he was talking 00:30:23.33\00:30:27.71 to a friend and he said: "You know, it seems like 00:30:27.81\00:30:30.16 they've broken every record but I don't think anyone has 00:30:30.26\00:30:32.43 walked around the world yet. " 00:30:32.53\00:30:33.90 And he was 22 years old and he thought: 00:30:34.41\00:30:36.27 "That sounds like something I'd like to try. " 00:30:36.57\00:30:39.04 And he did... with very little fanfare 'cause nobody thought 00:30:39.54\00:30:44.83 that he was going to do it. He took off from his hometown 00:30:44.93\00:30:47.64 there in Minnesota. Walked to New York City. 00:30:47.74\00:30:50.73 Went with his brother. Put his feet in the water there 00:30:51.23\00:30:56.15 of the Atlantic. Flew to Portugal. 00:30:56.35\00:30:57.89 Of course you can't walk across the ocean. 00:30:57.99\00:30:59.30 Walked... Got a donkey and a cart. 00:31:00.10\00:31:03.02 The donkey's name was Willie Makeit? 00:31:03.32\00:31:06.35 And he and his brother, they walked across Portugal, 00:31:09.33\00:31:12.60 Spain, France, Germany, 00:31:12.80\00:31:15.19 Turkey. When they got to Afghanistan - 00:31:15.39\00:31:18.62 and they were trying to raise money for UNICEF along the way, 00:31:18.82\00:31:21.01 they ended up picking up some sponsorship that way - 00:31:21.11\00:31:23.34 they were robbed in Afghanistan and shot by the bandits. 00:31:23.54\00:31:26.63 His brother was killed. 00:31:26.73\00:31:27.85 But he had gone so far that after David recovered 00:31:29.51\00:31:33.20 from his wounds his other brother joined him. 00:31:33.30\00:31:35.50 They picked up at the very spot where they were robbed in 00:31:35.70\00:31:37.88 Afghanistan and kept walking. 00:31:37.98\00:31:40.39 You know, when you're walking with God He doesn't say 00:31:40.89\00:31:43.44 it's always going to be easy. 00:31:43.54\00:31:44.86 But you want it to be consistent. 00:31:46.02\00:31:48.15 They walked across Afghanistan through northern India 00:31:48.35\00:31:51.45 to southern India. He went through a couple of mules. 00:31:51.65\00:31:55.68 Put his feet in the Indian Ocean. Flew over to 00:31:57.70\00:32:01.87 Australia. Walked from Perth all the way across to Sydney. 00:32:02.07\00:32:06.34 Now I just flew from Sydney to Perth 00:32:06.54\00:32:08.94 and let me tell you: I had no idea how big Australia was 00:32:09.24\00:32:12.39 or how dry it was. 00:32:12.89\00:32:15.17 But it takes longer to go from Perth to Sydney 00:32:15.99\00:32:18.91 than it does to go from California to New York. 00:32:19.22\00:32:21.59 It's... that place is huge! 00:32:21.99\00:32:24.06 And then he walked across part of Asia and Hawaii 00:32:25.35\00:32:29.02 and came back to the U.S. and went back to his hometown. 00:32:29.22\00:32:31.40 He ended up walking around the world. 14,000 miles he walked. 00:32:31.60\00:32:35.07 I forget how many pair of shoes he went through. 00:32:35.50\00:32:37.73 Made it into the Guinness Book of World Records. 00:32:37.93\00:32:40.51 Went through three donkeys. 00:32:40.82\00:32:42.42 But he decided: "If I'm going to do this walk 00:32:42.92\00:32:46.75 I'm just going to keep going. " 00:32:46.95\00:32:48.24 You don't want to start some- thing like that and then quit. 00:32:48.54\00:32:51.12 How many times do you think he fell or tripped 00:32:51.52\00:32:53.74 or maybe even twisted his ankle along the way? 00:32:54.15\00:32:56.36 He would wrap it up and just keep on going. 00:32:56.66\00:32:58.58 Wear out one pair of shoes? Get another pair of shoes. 00:32:58.98\00:33:01.46 Got blisters? Put on Band-Aids. 00:33:01.76\00:33:04.12 Just kept walking. If you're going to be a Christian 00:33:04.32\00:33:07.26 and you're going to walk with Jesus, you're going to encounter 00:33:07.46\00:33:10.23 difficulties. Noah, trying to live a godly life, 00:33:10.43\00:33:14.58 surrounded with a culture of violence and immorality, 00:33:14.78\00:33:18.04 do you think that was easy? 00:33:18.24\00:33:19.78 You notice that in the story of Noah he's in the minority. 00:33:20.18\00:33:24.03 It's not easy to live a godly life in a wicked world. 00:33:25.16\00:33:30.10 And the devil is especially aggravated, and he will try 00:33:30.66\00:33:33.92 to distract and discourage you. 00:33:34.02\00:33:35.83 And you've just got to take it one step at a time, 00:33:36.33\00:33:39.07 one day at a time... sometimes moment by moment 00:33:39.27\00:33:41.74 asking God for grace. 00:33:42.04\00:33:43.89 Because if you're human and if you're trying to follow Jesus 00:33:44.39\00:33:46.76 you're going to be tempted. 00:33:46.96\00:33:47.99 That's why in the Lord's Prayer it says: "Give us this day 00:33:48.49\00:33:50.61 our daily bread. Lead me not into temptation. " 00:33:50.71\00:33:53.18 That simply means lead me away from my natural bent 00:33:53.28\00:33:56.02 to temptation. 00:33:56.22\00:33:57.41 And, you know, it tells us that Noah walked with God 00:33:58.91\00:34:00.83 but you read in verse 22 of chapter 6 00:34:01.03\00:34:03.30 when God told Noah what He wanted to do to prepare for the 00:34:04.68\00:34:07.43 end: "Thus Noah did according to all that God 00:34:07.53\00:34:12.93 commanded him... so he did. " 00:34:13.13\00:34:15.46 Wow! Is there a connection between Noah finding grace, 00:34:16.65\00:34:20.39 Noah walking with God, and Noah doing all that God 00:34:20.42\00:34:22.82 commanded? Is God wanting a people in the last days 00:34:22.92\00:34:26.28 that will do all that God commands? Amen! 00:34:26.48\00:34:28.68 Where would be a good place to start finding out what it is 00:34:28.81\00:34:31.10 that God commands? Ten Commandments! 00:34:31.20\00:34:34.34 Wouldn't you think? Are they multiple choice? No! 00:34:35.34\00:34:39.93 They're not just the ten recommendations? No! 00:34:40.81\00:34:43.68 Noah did all that God commanded. 00:34:44.31\00:34:46.25 You know, the Lord says in Deuteronomy chapter 5 00:34:46.85\00:34:49.16 "Oh that My people would fear Me and keep all of My 00:34:50.75\00:34:54.76 commandments always that it might be well with them 00:34:54.86\00:34:57.99 and their children. " God starts out by saying: 00:34:58.19\00:35:00.66 "Oh, that they would just believe in Me, trust Me, 00:35:00.86\00:35:04.59 fear Me, and keep all of My commandments 00:35:04.79\00:35:06.12 that it might be well with them. " 00:35:06.32\00:35:08.16 Not only does it say that Noah found grace 00:35:08.66\00:35:11.41 it says he obeyed. 00:35:11.61\00:35:12.80 Today we hear about the finding grace part 00:35:13.40\00:35:15.48 but we don't hear much about obeying all the commandments. 00:35:15.68\00:35:18.21 But if you and I are being told the same thing Noah was told, 00:35:18.81\00:35:22.99 God told Noah "the end's coming. " 00:35:23.19\00:35:24.78 He said: "There's going to be a flood. " 00:35:25.29\00:35:26.87 He said: "The world's going to be destroyed. " 00:35:27.17\00:35:28.83 And He said: "You're going to be in the minority 00:35:29.23\00:35:31.15 and everyone's going to think you're crazy. " 00:35:31.35\00:35:33.02 And he was ridiculed like nobody was ever ridiculed. 00:35:35.27\00:35:39.10 It had never rained before. 00:35:40.60\00:35:42.56 You know, I used to think the story of Noah and the flood 00:35:43.26\00:35:46.79 was a total myth and I scoffed at anybody 00:35:46.99\00:35:51.14 that took it literally. 00:35:51.34\00:35:53.14 I thought: "How unscientific. " 00:35:53.54\00:35:55.11 Then before I even got to the cave and read the Bible 00:35:55.71\00:35:58.79 I did some traveling 00:35:58.89\00:36:00.33 and it really surprised me. I remember specifically 00:36:00.73\00:36:03.99 going to Nageezi, New Mexico. 00:36:04.29\00:36:07.13 I lived there with my uncle on the Navajo reservation 00:36:07.53\00:36:11.09 for about six months. And he took me and he showed me 00:36:11.29\00:36:14.26 this place out there where there were seashells. 00:36:14.36\00:36:16.77 And New Mexico, you know, is not close to any beach. 00:36:17.08\00:36:19.77 And it's one of the whole things of being... No ocean, 00:36:20.81\00:36:23.75 just sand. 00:36:23.95\00:36:25.64 But the seashells were 8,000 feet high. 00:36:26.14\00:36:29.85 You know, on Mt. Everest climbers have come back 00:36:30.35\00:36:33.34 and they've got oyster fossils this big 00:36:33.54\00:36:35.91 at the base camps on Everest. 00:36:36.11\00:36:38.68 And I started seeing this evidence everywhere I looked 00:36:39.18\00:36:41.73 of... I said: "Boy, from all I know about just physics 00:36:41.93\00:36:45.76 and geology it looks to me like there was a whole lot of 00:36:45.86\00:36:49.11 water covering this spot at one time. " 00:36:49.22\00:36:51.08 Fly over Arizona and Utah - 00:36:51.48\00:36:55.38 which I've done several times - and you can just see. 00:36:55.59\00:36:57.62 It's just so clear that there was some kind of 00:36:57.82\00:37:00.29 massive amounts of water. 00:37:00.49\00:37:03.05 You know, it's interesting 'cause when I went to school 00:37:04.38\00:37:09.47 and they talked about evolution, that's what I always believed, 00:37:09.67\00:37:12.02 they talk about how all the dinosaurs died out. 00:37:13.42\00:37:15.82 And they said: "You know, they all got a virus. " 00:37:16.12\00:37:18.83 This used to be the theory: they all got sick 00:37:19.13\00:37:21.24 or some other species came along and they... 00:37:21.74\00:37:24.48 They had all these theories. And then 00:37:24.68\00:37:26.56 they finally came up and they said: "You know, 00:37:26.66\00:37:27.99 it really does look like from the fossil evidence 00:37:28.19\00:37:32.26 that there was some kind of a water catastrophe. " 00:37:32.46\00:37:37.52 But they said: "An asteroid that they haven't located yet 00:37:39.17\00:37:42.88 hit the world and caused a tsunami around the world. 00:37:43.18\00:37:47.61 And that's why you see all these copious amounts 00:37:48.56\00:37:50.89 of dinosaur bones all pushed up into one spot. " 00:37:51.09\00:37:53.77 Well, doesn't the Bible say there was a massive flood? 00:37:54.17\00:37:57.85 By the way, I don't have time to read them all to you 00:37:58.25\00:38:00.15 but I've got a collection here of the legends from around 00:38:00.35\00:38:02.63 the world. Just about every continent in their culture 00:38:02.74\00:38:05.76 including the Aborigines I was with a couple of weeks ago 00:38:05.86\00:38:08.54 all have stories of how there was a massive flood. 00:38:08.74\00:38:11.94 And some of the things that are interesting in the story... 00:38:12.24\00:38:14.40 The Inuit up in Alaska, they say they tied all their 00:38:14.90\00:38:20.21 kayaks together. And the Hawaiians actually say 00:38:20.31\00:38:24.45 that this good man and his family and all the animals 00:38:24.55\00:38:27.22 got in the big canoe. By the way, his name was Nu'u 00:38:27.32\00:38:30.10 in Hawaii. Isn't that interesting? 00:38:30.30\00:38:32.89 And in Chinese the word for boat 00:38:33.39\00:38:36.39 is a little picture of a boat with 8 people on it. 00:38:36.69\00:38:39.07 Have you heard that before? 00:38:40.05\00:38:41.50 Yeah. And you've heard of the Gilgamesh Epic? 00:38:41.81\00:38:45.81 It's a famous Babylonian epic. They found most of it intact 00:38:46.01\00:38:49.13 and it talks about this man named Gilgamesh. 00:38:49.43\00:38:51.85 And he was told to build this giant ziggurat 00:38:52.05\00:38:54.37 like a step pyramid. And all the animals came into this 00:38:54.57\00:38:57.07 box that he built and there was a great flood 00:38:57.18\00:38:59.54 and the whole world was covered with water. 00:38:59.74\00:39:00.93 It's just everywhere in all these cultures 00:39:01.23\00:39:03.26 they all know from their ancient history 00:39:03.46\00:39:05.73 there was a great flood and all the world was wiped out. 00:39:05.93\00:39:09.27 The story of Atlantis that Plato tells. 00:39:09.57\00:39:13.59 As far as they know it's rooted back in the story of the Bible. 00:39:13.79\00:39:16.82 There were these people and they were good people. 00:39:17.02\00:39:18.62 Noble and had great power and stronger and great minds. 00:39:18.83\00:39:21.41 That's what we believe about the antediluvians. 00:39:21.61\00:39:24.15 But they turned to wickedness 00:39:24.55\00:39:26.44 and the gods swallowed up Atlantis with a flood 00:39:26.65\00:39:30.57 because of their wickedness. 00:39:30.97\00:39:32.26 And everyone's looking for this island. 00:39:32.36\00:39:33.39 It was the whole planet. 00:39:33.47\00:39:34.61 You know, before the flood some have speculated 00:39:35.01\00:39:38.15 maybe the continents weren't divided like they are now 00:39:38.35\00:39:40.37 and it could have been one super continent. 00:39:40.40\00:39:42.10 And that's what they called Atlantis. 00:39:42.40\00:39:44.03 And then the shifting of the tectonic plates 00:39:44.33\00:39:47.46 and the whole world greatly convulsed from the flood. 00:39:47.66\00:39:50.10 So I believe that it really happened! 00:39:50.50\00:39:53.73 Now I know some people think: "Do you really believe Jesus 00:39:54.13\00:39:57.55 is coming again and He's going to flood the world with fire? " 00:39:57.65\00:40:00.75 God promised it will never be water again. 00:40:00.95\00:40:03.00 II Peter tells us in the last days scoffers will 00:40:03.50\00:40:06.98 arise walking after their own lusts. " 00:40:07.18\00:40:08.81 You know why they're scoffing? 'Cause they're walking after 00:40:08.91\00:40:11.25 their own lusts and they can't afford to believe it. 00:40:11.35\00:40:13.25 Saying: "Where is the promise of His coming? 00:40:13.65\00:40:15.97 For ever since the fathers fell asleep all things continue 00:40:16.28\00:40:19.02 as they were from the beginning of the creation. " 00:40:19.22\00:40:20.95 But this they're willingly ignorant of. 00:40:21.25\00:40:23.73 They're willingly ignorant... choosing not to believe. 00:40:23.93\00:40:28.18 And then Peter goes on and talks about how God 00:40:28.68\00:40:31.31 destroyed the world with a flood in the days of Noah. 00:40:31.41\00:40:34.51 But in these last days it's reserved for fire. 00:40:34.75\00:40:37.54 "For the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night 00:40:38.04\00:40:41.04 in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise 00:40:41.24\00:40:43.92 and the elements will met with fervent heat. 00:40:44.12\00:40:46.00 And the earth and the things that are in it 00:40:46.20\00:40:47.65 will be burned up. " There's going to be another flood. 00:40:47.75\00:40:51.15 You know, I always thought it was interesting: Jesus says 00:40:51.35\00:40:53.26 in John chapter 3: "Unless you're born of the water 00:40:53.66\00:40:57.38 and the Spirit you cannot enter the kingdom of heaven. " 00:40:57.59\00:40:59.94 Children of Israel when they came out of Egypt 00:41:01.19\00:41:02.84 before they went into the Promised Land 00:41:03.04\00:41:04.69 they had to go through the water. Red Sea, right? 00:41:04.89\00:41:07.01 And they were baptized in that pillar of fire. 00:41:07.31\00:41:09.53 They had the water baptism, the fire baptism, 00:41:10.70\00:41:12.80 and then they got into the Promised Land. 00:41:12.90\00:41:14.09 You know, our planet is going to be baptized in water 00:41:14.30\00:41:17.59 and baptized in fire and then God will make a new 00:41:17.69\00:41:19.30 heaven and a New Earth. Right? 00:41:19.40\00:41:21.68 Needed both baptisms. 00:41:22.18\00:41:23.52 But people today look at you as crazy as they looked at Noah 00:41:23.92\00:41:27.32 when you say: "Yeah, it's all going to burn. 00:41:27.52\00:41:30.66 The end is going to come. " They say: "Ah... 00:41:30.96\00:41:34.90 you can't explain that. It's not scientific. " 00:41:35.00\00:41:37.60 They mocked Noah, and you know what? Noah had to do it by faith 00:41:37.80\00:41:41.74 because there wasn't any evidence. 00:41:42.24\00:41:44.59 So God told Noah: "Start building. " 00:41:44.99\00:41:48.07 Wise man builds on a rock; Noah built. 00:41:48.60\00:41:50.73 We have to build. Paul says we're all building. 00:41:50.93\00:41:53.53 Will your structure that you're building survive 00:41:53.93\00:41:56.91 or will it get burned? 00:41:57.11\00:41:58.53 We all have a foundation. Christ Jesus is the Rock. 00:41:58.93\00:42:02.49 We're living stones that are built on that Rock. 00:42:02.69\00:42:05.19 So all of us are building something. 00:42:05.59\00:42:07.87 But will it stand? Noah started building 00:42:08.17\00:42:10.97 and he set an example for his family. 00:42:11.27\00:42:14.11 He said: "God has told me that the end is coming 00:42:14.51\00:42:17.35 and that everybody that gets in this vessel we're preparing 00:42:17.55\00:42:20.46 will survive. So Noah's sons worked with him, 00:42:20.66\00:42:24.04 and they worked with him for 120 years. 00:42:24.14\00:42:27.28 He was 600 years old when the flood finally came. 00:42:27.98\00:42:30.82 And so with his mouth and with his hammer Noah preached, 00:42:31.02\00:42:34.88 and I'm sure there were people that saw the wickedness 00:42:34.99\00:42:38.60 and the violence in the world. 00:42:38.70\00:42:39.86 Not everybody was fully given over to it. 00:42:39.96\00:42:42.03 God's Spirit had not been withdrawn. 00:42:42.23\00:42:44.05 Indeed it says there in Genesis 6 He says: 00:42:44.35\00:42:47.70 "My Spirit is striving with man but it won't always happen. 00:42:47.83\00:42:50.90 I'll give them 120 years. " 00:42:51.30\00:42:53.10 God in other words after that 120 years 00:42:53.30\00:42:55.07 was going to withdraw His Spirit from that wicked world. 00:42:55.27\00:42:58.32 Is God going to withdraw His Spirit from our world 00:42:58.82\00:43:01.31 before the end? Amen! So we're supposed to be 00:43:01.41\00:43:04.82 doing everything that Noah did and working and building 00:43:05.52\00:43:08.55 to provide a way for others to be saved. 00:43:08.75\00:43:11.12 So Noah preached. Some people said: "Yep, Noah, 00:43:11.52\00:43:15.83 I think you're probably right. It's a terrible world, and 00:43:16.04\00:43:18.51 as soon as we see that water coming 00:43:18.72\00:43:21.38 we're gettin' on board. " 00:43:21.68\00:43:23.09 Noah said: "No, you've got to make your commitment before 00:43:23.49\00:43:26.59 you see the water coming. " 00:43:26.79\00:43:28.06 Like a sign in front of the Baptist church that said: 00:43:29.26\00:43:31.72 "Repent now and avoid the rush. " 00:43:31.83\00:43:33.99 Because when Jesus comes there'll be a lot of repenting 00:43:35.76\00:43:38.70 but at that point God's Spirit is withdrawn 00:43:38.90\00:43:41.19 and it's too late. So now is the time. 00:43:41.39\00:43:44.85 Judgment will begin at the house of God. 00:43:45.15\00:43:47.79 So Noah pounded with his hammer and he preached with his voice 00:43:49.06\00:43:52.31 and people looked on and most laughed. 00:43:52.61\00:43:56.38 Not only that, Noah stored food. 00:43:57.53\00:44:01.43 Genesis 6:21: "And you shall take for yourself 00:44:01.73\00:44:05.98 of all food that is eaten. " 00:44:06.18\00:44:08.10 He didn't say all food people eat. 00:44:08.30\00:44:09.52 All food that is eaten. 00:44:09.62\00:44:10.70 "And you will gather it to yourself, and it shall be food 00:44:11.76\00:44:14.25 for you and for them. " For the creatures. 00:44:14.35\00:44:16.81 Boy, talk about a big barn. 00:44:17.11\00:44:20.17 Having to fill it with all kinds of food 00:44:20.48\00:44:24.44 for all of these creatures. 00:44:24.64\00:44:26.90 If Noah was going to make it through the storm, he had to 00:44:28.15\00:44:30.70 store food. That's a very simple truth, friends. 00:44:30.90\00:44:34.67 There's a storm coming, and you and I need to store food. 00:44:34.78\00:44:37.91 "Thy Word I have hidden in my heart 00:44:38.11\00:44:40.80 that I might not sin against You. " Man doesn't 00:44:41.00\00:44:42.76 live by bread alone but by every word 00:44:42.86\00:44:45.25 that proceeds from the mouth of God. 00:44:45.35\00:44:46.91 We now need to be storing away the promises of God. 00:44:47.22\00:44:50.04 God has given us exceeding precious promises 00:44:50.25\00:44:52.72 that through these we might become partakers of the divine 00:44:52.92\00:44:55.83 nature... and now is the time to do it. 00:44:55.93\00:44:58.60 If I only knew... I was just thinking this today... 00:44:58.80\00:45:01.09 When I was a teenager, compared to how well my memory 00:45:03.54\00:45:07.82 works now, I almost had a photographic memory. 00:45:07.92\00:45:10.30 And if I had only known. Doug, if you read 00:45:12.44\00:45:16.15 more of the Bible now, it will stay with you through your life. 00:45:16.35\00:45:19.09 But there'll be a time in your life when it's going to be 00:45:19.39\00:45:21.04 harder. You know, have you ever noticed? 00:45:21.14\00:45:23.78 You see these kids immigrate from another country 00:45:23.88\00:45:26.15 and the parents are there 15 years and they're still 00:45:26.56\00:45:29.26 hardly speaking English and the kids... they pick it up 00:45:29.36\00:45:32.19 in a year. Don't even have an accent. 00:45:32.30\00:45:34.89 There's just something about it when you're young like that. 00:45:35.29\00:45:37.92 Now I'm not trying to discourage any of you 00:45:38.22\00:45:40.20 that were on that. I'm just saying we've got to 00:45:40.31\00:45:42.27 work at it a little harder. 00:45:42.37\00:45:43.48 But you can still remember scripture. 00:45:43.68\00:45:46.68 But for the young people who are watching: do it now. 00:45:47.61\00:45:50.23 They're filling their minds. The devil's got the young people 00:45:50.43\00:45:52.53 in this generation filling their minds with so many things. 00:45:52.63\00:45:55.01 This little texting nonsense and Facebook and all this 00:45:55.42\00:45:59.88 trivial tweeting that happens and it isn't worth anything. 00:45:59.98\00:46:03.54 The Word of God: now we've got to store it now. 00:46:03.84\00:46:07.57 Amen! And why do you store something? 00:46:07.87\00:46:09.77 So you can draw upon it later. Amen! 00:46:09.87\00:46:12.64 And the day may come when we don't have our Bibles with us 00:46:12.77\00:46:14.88 and temptation's going to come. 00:46:14.98\00:46:16.43 What did Jesus do when temptation came? 00:46:16.63\00:46:18.30 He had... He didn't say: "Hang on, Satan. Let Me 00:46:19.43\00:46:21.79 go through my computer program here. I know there's 00:46:21.90\00:46:23.61 a verse on that. " Or, "I'm going to do a search 00:46:23.71\00:46:26.48 in My concordance. " Christ had it in His mind. 00:46:26.58\00:46:30.14 He had it in His heart. Did He remember the verses 00:46:30.34\00:46:32.79 because He was the Son of God and had a supernatural, 00:46:32.99\00:46:34.88 photographic memory? No! No, Jesus said: 00:46:34.98\00:46:37.65 "I only know what the Father reveals to Me. " 00:46:38.05\00:46:40.35 But because Jesus had read those things growing up... 00:46:40.65\00:46:43.20 He was daily... every Sabbath He was in the temple 00:46:43.50\00:46:46.50 reading the scriptures it says. 00:46:46.60\00:46:47.76 He stood up to read the scriptures as His custom was. 00:46:47.96\00:46:50.21 Jesus read His Bible. He prayed; He went to church. 00:46:50.51\00:46:52.88 And He filled His mind with these things so when He had to 00:46:53.08\00:46:56.13 draw upon it in times of temptation 00:46:56.23\00:46:58.47 He knew what to say. 00:46:58.68\00:46:59.89 You know, as we near the end and we're going to be ridiculed 00:47:00.29\00:47:02.67 for our faith, there's a storm coming. 00:47:02.77\00:47:05.14 And we're going to be really pressed by the world. 00:47:05.25\00:47:07.90 Our church is going to really look like a fanatical group 00:47:08.10\00:47:11.78 to the world soon. And we are going to be brought before 00:47:11.88\00:47:14.58 the kings and rulers of the world to given an answer 00:47:14.68\00:47:16.96 for what we believe. And that's why we've got to be studying 00:47:17.06\00:47:20.59 now. The Holy Spirit will tell us what to say in that hour 00:47:20.79\00:47:24.40 but it's understood the Holy Spirit will bring to your 00:47:24.70\00:47:27.14 remembrance what we have studied before. 00:47:27.34\00:47:29.48 And so if we're going to know how to stand up 00:47:29.88\00:47:32.21 and speak for Christ and defend our faith, 00:47:32.41\00:47:34.57 now we need to be filling our minds. Amen! 00:47:34.98\00:47:37.79 That's what it means to walk with God. Are you... 00:47:37.92\00:47:39.53 you reading your Bibles every day? 00:47:39.64\00:47:41.87 Do you have a regular? You should be religious 00:47:42.93\00:47:45.77 about your personal devotions. Amen! 00:47:46.07\00:47:48.49 I'm surprised how many people I meet and they almost say it 00:47:48.63\00:47:50.90 like they're bragging: "Pastor Doug, 00:47:51.00\00:47:53.26 I'm not very religious. 00:47:53.46\00:47:55.34 Who wants organized religion? 00:47:55.64\00:47:58.64 But I'm spiritual. " 00:47:58.84\00:48:02.04 I don't buy that. 00:48:02.34\00:48:03.73 I think if you're really spiritual, there's no such thing 00:48:04.23\00:48:07.00 as disorganized religion. 00:48:07.10\00:48:08.71 God is not the author of confusion. 00:48:08.91\00:48:10.60 There's nothing wrong with being a little bit Methodist... 00:48:10.80\00:48:13.41 all of us and having some Methodism in your faith. 00:48:13.61\00:48:18.68 Having regular times for prayer. 00:48:18.98\00:48:20.98 Did Daniel? Yes! Morning, evening, and at noon. 00:48:21.18\00:48:24.11 His little sundial would go off and it would say: 00:48:24.61\00:48:26.57 "Time to pray. " Right? 00:48:26.67\00:48:29.07 And he had regular... This is what David did. 00:48:30.91\00:48:34.62 Psalm what is? 55 verse 17: 00:48:34.82\00:48:36.81 "Morning, evening, and at noon I will praise You... 00:48:37.01\00:48:39.29 I will pray. " And so having regular times... 00:48:39.59\00:48:41.76 Even when Elijah offered that sacrifice it says 00:48:42.06\00:48:44.78 "at the time of the evening sacrifice. " There was a time 00:48:44.88\00:48:47.33 for worship. For everything there is a purpose and a time 00:48:47.53\00:48:50.53 under heaven. Do you have regular times for devotion 00:48:50.63\00:48:53.45 with God? And you know what? That's important 'cause 00:48:53.75\00:48:56.18 sometimes I don't feel like it. 00:48:56.28\00:48:57.67 Sometimes I don't feel like praying. 00:48:57.87\00:48:59.39 I'm not embarrassed to tell you that. 00:49:00.49\00:49:02.03 "What, pastor? You don't feel like praying? " 00:49:02.23\00:49:03.71 Sometimes I don't feel like praying. 00:49:03.82\00:49:05.11 Sometimes I don't feel like praying that God will help me 00:49:05.71\00:49:09.78 to forgive someone I'm much more enjoying being angry at. 00:49:09.88\00:49:12.79 But I know He wants me to so I do it. 00:49:15.49\00:49:17.23 I don't always feel like reading the Bible. 00:49:17.63\00:49:19.13 I'm reading through my Bible all the time, 00:49:19.33\00:49:20.85 every day. I'm reading through Jeremiah right now. 00:49:21.05\00:49:22.58 When I get done, I'll just go on to the next book. 00:49:22.79\00:49:24.31 Some of it, you know, is the begats and things. 00:49:25.41\00:49:27.77 Some of it's more interesting. 00:49:29.08\00:49:30.94 And I make myself do it - Amen - because I know it changes me. 00:49:32.12\00:49:36.00 Even the times when I wonder if it is. 00:49:36.20\00:49:38.39 He stored food for the storm. 00:49:39.64\00:49:41.47 And then something amazing happened. 00:49:42.81\00:49:45.35 There were supernatural signs. 00:49:45.76\00:49:48.17 Just a few days before the end 00:49:48.67\00:49:51.53 all of a sudden the sky grew dark with birds 00:49:51.93\00:49:55.73 of every type you could imagine. 00:49:55.93\00:49:57.91 And there was a roar, and all the people in the town... 00:49:58.31\00:50:00.97 Now you realize there could have been a lot of people in the 00:50:01.27\00:50:02.92 world back then. Just put that thought about the birds on hold. 00:50:03.02\00:50:05.62 Think about the population. 00:50:05.82\00:50:07.21 God told Adam and Eve to be fruitful and multiply, right? 00:50:08.47\00:50:11.81 How long did Adam and Eve live? Well Adam. Doesn't say about 00:50:13.75\00:50:16.65 Eve, but Adam 930 years. 00:50:16.75\00:50:18.56 Some of them didn't get married till they were 100 back then 00:50:19.62\00:50:22.31 if you just read the genealogies. 00:50:22.51\00:50:23.96 But they were probably healthy and productive 00:50:25.44\00:50:29.24 if you do the same ratio well... 300, 400 years. 00:50:29.65\00:50:35.06 How many children would you have if you were all fertile 00:50:35.56\00:50:38.47 for 300 or 400 years? 00:50:38.67\00:50:40.36 And if you had a command fresh from the lips of God 00:50:40.76\00:50:43.33 that said "Be fruitful and multiply. " 00:50:43.53\00:50:45.73 And nobody had to go see any kind of doctor to help 00:50:45.93\00:50:50.09 with fertility back then 'cause everybody was just like rabbits. 00:50:50.19\00:50:52.61 Everyone was very healthy; all the plumbing was working. 00:50:52.81\00:50:55.56 I mean, it's what happened with the children of Israel. 00:50:55.86\00:50:57.09 It says: "They grew exceedingly" - right? - 00:50:57.29\00:51:00.23 when they were in Egypt. And so, you know, 00:51:00.44\00:51:02.86 there could have been millions of people in the world 00:51:03.16\00:51:06.00 when this all happened. 00:51:06.30\00:51:07.33 And so back to the birds. Sky grows dark. 00:51:08.48\00:51:10.66 All these birds start coming, and they're all coming from 00:51:10.97\00:51:12.96 every corner of the compass. 00:51:13.06\00:51:14.43 No two of them alike. 00:51:14.63\00:51:16.31 Well, there were two of them alike I mean, but not much more 00:51:16.61\00:51:19.00 than that. And I guess the clean ones there were 7 of them alike. 00:51:19.10\00:51:21.91 But all different varieties. 00:51:22.11\00:51:23.83 And they all start heading toward the ark 00:51:24.81\00:51:26.29 that had recently been completed. 00:51:26.49\00:51:28.09 This idea that Noah went on some kind of a rodeo round-up 00:51:29.06\00:51:31.87 and had to go get two of everything... 00:51:31.97\00:51:33.43 You know, I've heard people preach it that way. 00:51:33.63\00:51:35.35 I heard that last week, a preacher. 00:51:35.55\00:51:36.93 And I said: "You're not reading your Bible, pastor. " 00:51:37.13\00:51:38.56 Doesn't say that. God brought the animals. Amen! 00:51:38.86\00:51:41.78 And the people watched this and they were thunderstruck. 00:51:43.08\00:51:47.24 They're going: "What in the world? Wow! 00:51:47.44\00:51:49.68 Maybe Noah was right. " And then they looked and 00:51:50.83\00:51:52.37 out of the forest and from the mountains all of these creatures 00:51:52.47\00:51:55.25 came walking and thumping and slithering from every direction 00:51:55.35\00:51:58.50 all toward the ark. 00:51:58.90\00:52:00.30 It was mass migration. 00:52:00.80\00:52:02.64 Now can God do that? Amen! How many of you remember 00:52:03.95\00:52:06.95 when the ark of the covenant was stolen or captured by the 00:52:07.05\00:52:11.03 Philistines, and finally after all these plagues hit 00:52:11.23\00:52:13.34 they put the ark on a cart and they said: "If God is Jehovah, 00:52:13.44\00:52:16.15 these cows will know how to get back to Israel. " 00:52:16.46\00:52:19.86 Even though they were cows from the Philistines. 00:52:20.06\00:52:22.28 And God led those cows all the way back to Israel. 00:52:22.68\00:52:25.36 You remember that story? Amen! So He led the animals 00:52:25.56\00:52:29.01 in twos all to the ark 00:52:29.22\00:52:32.25 and the people were terrified. 00:52:32.55\00:52:34.95 Then the Lord brought Noah and his family... 00:52:35.65\00:52:38.86 put them in the ark and He shut the door. 00:52:38.96\00:52:41.96 It was a massive door. There was a time when the door 00:52:42.40\00:52:45.01 was shut. And everybody outside the ark 00:52:45.31\00:52:48.85 they began to cool off as a couple days went by. 00:52:50.16\00:52:52.70 They said: "Oh... We thought that he was crazy. 00:52:53.10\00:52:55.55 He's cooped up in there with all those wild animals. 00:52:55.76\00:52:57.35 I wonder how it smells right now? 00:52:57.55\00:52:59.01 This guy was absurd. He must have enchanted or bewitched 00:52:59.31\00:53:02.58 them somehow. How did he get all those animals to come? " 00:53:02.78\00:53:04.90 And they mocked him, but they didn't know as soon as that door 00:53:06.36\00:53:11.18 was shut Noah and his family were sealed on the inside 00:53:11.28\00:53:14.71 and they were sealed on the out- side and probation was closed. 00:53:15.01\00:53:20.17 There is a time coming in the near future - nobody knows 00:53:20.60\00:53:23.19 when that time is - when God will declare: 00:53:23.29\00:53:25.83 "He that is just let him be just still, 00:53:26.03\00:53:27.64 and he that is righteous let him be righteous still, 00:53:27.74\00:53:29.60 and he that is filthy let him be filthy still. " 00:53:29.90\00:53:31.99 And the saved will be saved and the lost will be lost. 00:53:32.19\00:53:34.43 That's why NOW is the time. 00:53:34.83\00:53:37.77 Jesus has made it very clear: right up until the time of the 00:53:37.97\00:53:40.33 end there is going to be eating and drinking and planting 00:53:40.43\00:53:44.12 and building, and people will be celebrating 00:53:44.22\00:53:46.49 marriages even after the probation has closed. 00:53:46.70\00:53:49.77 I think we forget. We're so used to thinking 00:53:50.90\00:53:53.43 about the plagues are going to be our warning. 00:53:53.53\00:53:54.93 But when they come, it's too late. 00:53:55.03\00:53:56.56 At this point I can't improve on the words from the 00:53:57.97\00:54:00.63 book Patriarchs and Prophets, so I'm just going to read you 00:54:00.83\00:54:02.73 a passage here. This is from page 99. 00:54:02.83\00:54:05.20 "But upon the 8th day, dark clouds overspread the heavens. 00:54:06.84\00:54:11.99 There followed the muttering of thunder and the flash of 00:54:12.39\00:54:15.20 lightning. Soon large drops of rain began to fall. 00:54:15.30\00:54:19.10 The world had never witnessed anything like this 00:54:19.40\00:54:22.02 and the hearts of men were struck with fear. 00:54:22.22\00:54:24.60 All were secretly inquiring: "Can it be that Noah was right 00:54:25.00\00:54:29.41 and that the world is doomed to destruction? " 00:54:29.54\00:54:31.83 Darker and darker grew the heavens, and faster came 00:54:32.23\00:54:35.22 the falling rain. The beasts were roaming about 00:54:35.32\00:54:38.61 in the wildest terror and their discordant cries 00:54:38.71\00:54:40.84 seemed to moan out their own destiny and the fate of man. 00:54:41.04\00:54:44.11 The fountains of the great deep were broken up 00:54:44.34\00:54:46.82 and the windows of heaven were opened. 00:54:47.12\00:54:48.95 Water appeared to come from the clouds in mighty cataracts. " 00:54:49.15\00:54:52.21 Like fire hydrants. "Rivers broke away from their boundaries 00:54:52.51\00:54:56.30 and overflowed the valleys. Jets of water burst from the 00:54:56.50\00:54:59.42 earth with indescribable force throwing massive rocks 00:54:59.52\00:55:02.86 hundreds of feet into the air 00:55:03.06\00:55:04.26 and these falling buried themselves deep in the ground. 00:55:04.56\00:55:07.17 The people first beheld the destruction of the works 00:55:07.58\00:55:10.19 of their own hands. Their splendid buildings, 00:55:10.29\00:55:12.73 their beautiful gardens and groves 00:55:12.93\00:55:14.53 where they placed their idols. 00:55:14.73\00:55:16.00 They were destroyed by lightning from heaven 00:55:16.20\00:55:18.19 and the ruins were scattered far and wide. 00:55:18.49\00:55:21.07 The altars on which human sacrifices had been offered 00:55:21.47\00:55:24.36 were torn down, and the worshipers were made to tremble 00:55:24.66\00:55:27.78 at the power of the Living God and to know that it was their 00:55:27.88\00:55:30.81 corruption and idolatry that had called down this destruction. 00:55:30.91\00:55:33.93 As the violence of the storm increased, 00:55:34.43\00:55:37.13 trees, buildings, rocks, and earth were hurled in every 00:55:37.33\00:55:40.01 direction. The terror of man and beast was beyond description. 00:55:40.11\00:55:44.43 Above the roar of the tempest 00:55:45.03\00:55:46.53 was heard the wailing of a people 00:55:46.56\00:55:48.12 that had despised the authority of God. 00:55:48.23\00:55:50.43 Satan himself, who was compelled to remain the midst of the 00:55:50.93\00:55:54.06 warring elements, feared for his own existence. 00:55:54.16\00:55:56.88 He had delighted to control so powerful a race 00:55:57.28\00:56:00.44 and desired them to live to practice their abominations 00:56:00.64\00:56:03.25 and continue their rebellion against the Ruler of heaven. 00:56:03.45\00:56:05.63 He now uttered implications against God, charging Him 00:56:06.14\00:56:09.53 with the injustice and cruelty. 00:56:09.73\00:56:11.47 Many of the people - like Satan - blasphemed God 00:56:11.87\00:56:14.22 and had been able, they would have torn Him from His throne 00:56:14.52\00:56:17.43 of power. Others were frantic with fear, stretching their 00:56:17.53\00:56:20.54 hands towards the ark and pleading for admittance... 00:56:20.64\00:56:23.44 but their entreaties were in vain. 00:56:23.64\00:56:26.44 Conscience was at last aroused to know that there is a God 00:56:26.84\00:56:29.55 who rules in the heavens. They called upon Him earnestly 00:56:29.75\00:56:32.75 but His ear was not open to their crying. 00:56:33.05\00:56:35.16 In that terrible hour they saw that the transgression 00:56:35.46\00:56:38.73 of God's law had caused their ruin. 00:56:38.94\00:56:41.02 Yet while through fear of punishment they acknowledged 00:56:41.32\00:56:43.86 their sin, they felt no true contrition, no abhorrence of 00:56:43.96\00:56:46.88 evil. They would have returned to their defiance of heaven 00:56:46.91\00:56:49.94 had the judgment been removed. 00:56:50.14\00:56:51.75 So God's judgments will fall upon the earth 00:56:52.70\00:56:55.14 before it is deluged by fire. 00:56:55.34\00:56:57.38 The impotent will know just where and what their sin is - 00:56:57.68\00:57:01.44 the despising of His holy law - yet they will have no more 00:57:01.74\00:57:05.18 true repentance than did the old world of sinners. 00:57:05.38\00:57:08.44 No, I don't have time to read it all. 00:57:08.84\00:57:11.32 I recommend you read that section starting with 00:57:11.42\00:57:13.90 about page 99 Patriarchs and Prophets. 00:57:14.00\00:57:16.53 The good news is: Noah, by faith, 00:57:16.73\00:57:20.15 was moved by the command of God. 00:57:20.35\00:57:22.39 And the Bible says that he built a house. 00:57:22.79\00:57:25.07 That's Hebrews 11 verse 7. 00:57:25.17\00:57:26.73 "Being divinely warned of things not seen, 00:57:27.13\00:57:29.90 he moved with godly fear and prepared an ark 00:57:30.10\00:57:33.23 for the saving of his household. " 00:57:33.43\00:57:35.45
