But before I do we have with us today 00:00:59.06\00:01:02.40 a special quartet from Medford, Oregon. 00:01:02.61\00:01:05.90 And they started singing together at the Valley View 00:01:06.20\00:01:08.23 Church. Now they actually go to two different churches. 00:01:08.34\00:01:11.28 But they're all from Medford and they're going to sing 00:01:11.58\00:01:14.40 for us Wonderful Grace. 00:01:14.60\00:01:16.05 Wonderful grace of Jesus, 00:01:20.78\00:01:24.37 greater than all my sin. 00:01:24.67\00:01:28.45 How shall my tongue describe it? 00:01:28.75\00:01:32.11 Where shall its praise begin? 00:01:32.41\00:01:36.14 Taking away my burden, 00:01:36.44\00:01:40.03 setting my spirit free; 00:01:40.23\00:01:43.66 For the wonderful grace of Jesus 00:01:43.86\00:01:47.74 reaches me. 00:01:47.94\00:01:51.23 Wonderful the matchless grace of Jesus, 00:01:51.53\00:01:55.31 Deeper than the mighty rolling sea; 00:01:55.61\00:01:58.90 Higher than the mountain, sparkling like a fountain, 00:01:59.20\00:02:02.95 All sufficient grace for even me. 00:02:03.15\00:02:08.69 Broader than the scope of my transgressions, 00:02:09.10\00:02:13.17 Greater far than all my sin and shame, 00:02:13.47\00:02:16.71 O magnify the precious name of Jesus, 00:02:16.91\00:02:20.98 Praise His name! 00:02:21.28\00:02:24.49 Wonderful grace of Jesus, 00:02:24.90\00:02:28.50 reaching to all the lost. 00:02:28.90\00:02:32.68 By it I have been pardoned, 00:02:32.98\00:02:36.49 Saved to the uttermost. 00:02:36.80\00:02:40.49 Chains have been torn asunder, 00:02:40.89\00:02:44.14 giving me liberty; 00:02:44.54\00:02:47.82 For the wonderful grace of Jesus 00:02:48.12\00:02:51.87 reaches me. 00:02:51.90\00:02:55.24 Wonderful the matchless grace of Jesus, 00:02:55.64\00:02:59.48 Deeper than the mighty rolling sea; 00:02:59.78\00:03:02.95 Higher than the mountain, sparkling like a fountain, 00:03:03.25\00:03:06.92 All sufficient grace for even me. 00:03:07.22\00:03:12.80 Broader than the scope of my transgressions, 00:03:13.10\00:03:16.93 Greater far than all my sin and shame, 00:03:17.23\00:03:20.35 O magnify the precious name of Jesus, 00:03:20.65\00:03:24.64 Praise His name! 00:03:24.94\00:03:28.20 Wonderful grace of Jesus, 00:03:28.70\00:03:32.20 reaching the most defiled. 00:03:32.60\00:03:36.20 By its transforming power 00:03:36.51\00:03:40.13 Making him God's dear child. 00:03:40.43\00:03:43.96 Purchasing peace and heaven 00:03:44.36\00:03:47.82 for all eternity, 00:03:48.12\00:03:51.40 And the wonderful grace of Jesus 00:03:51.70\00:03:55.48 reaches me. 00:03:55.69\00:03:59.06 Wonderful the matchless grace of Jesus, 00:03:59.56\00:04:03.17 Deeper than the mighty rolling sea; 00:04:03.47\00:04:06.70 Higher than the mountain, sparkling like a fountain, 00:04:07.10\00:04:10.70 All sufficient grace for even me. 00:04:11.00\00:04:16.69 Broader than the scope of my transgressions, 00:04:17.09\00:04:21.13 Greater far than all my sin and shame, 00:04:21.43\00:04:26.17 O magnify the precious name of Jesus, 00:04:26.57\00:04:32.10 Praise His... 00:04:32.40\00:04:34.88 praise His holy 00:04:35.19\00:04:40.11 name! 00:04:40.21\00:04:43.01 Don't you just love a men's quartet? 00:04:49.09\00:04:51.31 Well, I think that what we need to do... 00:04:52.80\00:04:57.81 I know what we need to do is let's pray, all right? 00:04:58.01\00:05:01.32 Heavenly Father, we come in the name of Jesus 00:05:01.62\00:05:04.15 and Lord we thank you so much for the gift of Your Word. 00:05:04.45\00:05:08.67 And Lord, we need the gift of your Spirit to understand 00:05:09.46\00:05:12.65 Your Word, so we pray right now 00:05:12.75\00:05:14.43 that You will anoint us with Your Holy Spirit. 00:05:14.63\00:05:18.27 Send Your Spirit to be our teacher. 00:05:18.48\00:05:20.40 And Father, I pray in the name of Jesus 00:05:20.70\00:05:23.35 that we will understand the wonderful grace 00:05:23.66\00:05:28.45 that is in the message of the Investigative Judgment. 00:05:28.75\00:05:33.39 Thank you, Father. In Jesus' name, Amen. 00:05:33.69\00:05:36.99 As I told you yesterday I've only taught on this once 00:05:38.95\00:05:41.56 before, so in some ways it's a bit intimidating to me. 00:05:41.66\00:05:46.13 And for our radio audience I should introduce myself. 00:05:46.33\00:05:49.28 I'm Shelley Quinn, and it is... 00:05:49.38\00:05:52.27 I'm here today to speak on this because I really felt God 00:05:53.18\00:05:56.61 asked me to do this. 00:05:56.81\00:05:58.37 So what I want to do is just review very quickly 00:05:58.57\00:06:01.75 what we went over yesterday. 00:06:01.95\00:06:03.68 We started when we identified the pattern of investigative 00:06:03.98\00:06:08.80 judgment that God began in Genesis. 00:06:08.90\00:06:11.26 And it goes throughout the Bible. 00:06:11.46\00:06:13.25 So we see the idea of investigative judgment 00:06:13.55\00:06:16.24 is nothing unusual to God. 00:06:16.54\00:06:19.43 In Revelation 14:17 00:06:19.73\00:06:22.35 we see that the first angel comes. 00:06:22.45\00:06:24.29 And what does that angel say? "The hour of His 00:06:24.39\00:06:28.34 judgment has arrived. " 00:06:28.64\00:06:31.08 And we know that this investigative judgment - 00:06:31.38\00:06:34.34 we looked at it yesterday - has to begin 00:06:34.54\00:06:37.13 before Christ's second advent... before He comes again. 00:06:37.61\00:06:43.50 Because in Revelation 22 and verse 11 the angel stands up 00:06:43.90\00:06:47.12 at Christ's descent and he says "He who is filthy 00:06:47.32\00:06:50.30 still... or unjust still... let him be unjust. 00:06:50.50\00:06:52.60 He who is filthy still let him be filthy. 00:06:52.70\00:06:54.82 He who is righteous let him be righteous still 00:06:55.02\00:06:57.88 and he who is holy let him be holy still. " 00:06:58.02\00:07:00.59 So then Jesus says: 00:07:01.27\00:07:04.48 "Behold, I am coming quickly 00:07:04.78\00:07:08.54 and My reward is with me. " 00:07:08.84\00:07:10.91 What the angel announced was the end of probation. 00:07:11.11\00:07:13.45 And now Christ says: "As soon as this is over, here I come... 00:07:13.85\00:07:17.95 ready or not. " 00:07:18.25\00:07:19.41 We looked at the five final phases of God's judgment. 00:07:19.91\00:07:25.19 It begins with the pre-advent - 00:07:26.56\00:07:30.27 meaning it happens before Christ returns - 00:07:30.47\00:07:32.52 the investigative judgment that we looked at 00:07:32.82\00:07:36.44 that Daniel 7 prophesies 00:07:36.64\00:07:39.51 when the Ancient of Days comes, He's seated at the court, 00:07:39.81\00:07:42.75 the books are opened in front of thousands upon thousands 00:07:42.95\00:07:46.15 of heavenly beings. And then one like the Son of Man 00:07:46.35\00:07:49.33 comes before Him. So we see the Father is the Judge. 00:07:49.53\00:07:53.89 And yesterday we proved from scripture 00:07:54.09\00:07:57.21 that this heavenly sanctuary - 00:07:57.24\00:08:00.59 or the true sanctuary - is in heaven. 00:08:00.79\00:08:03.85 The second phase of judgment is at Christ's return 00:08:04.91\00:08:10.00 when He executes the judgment that was made 00:08:10.30\00:08:14.22 during that time of investigation 00:08:14.52\00:08:16.75 and He separates the goats from the sheep, 00:08:17.05\00:08:19.70 He separates the wheat from the tares. 00:08:19.90\00:08:21.92 But the decision... the fate of all... has been sealed 00:08:22.22\00:08:27.30 during the time of the investigative judgment. 00:08:27.60\00:08:30.76 Then the next judgment takes place after the first 00:08:31.76\00:08:36.77 resurrection when the righteous dead are raised. 00:08:36.87\00:08:41.06 Those who are alive and remain, they all go up into the air 00:08:41.26\00:08:44.35 together to meet Jesus. 00:08:44.45\00:08:45.96 And they go to heaven and for a thousand years 00:08:46.17\00:08:48.73 there is a deliberative judgment 00:08:48.93\00:08:51.44 where the books are opened for us. 00:08:51.64\00:08:53.61 And it's not that we... When the Bible says we judge 00:08:54.01\00:08:57.27 fallen angels or that we judge the world 00:08:57.37\00:09:00.31 it's not that we are trying to say "Oh they were right 00:09:00.62\00:09:03.04 or wrong. " What we're looking at during this time period 00:09:03.14\00:09:06.68 is we are vindicating God's judgment. 00:09:06.89\00:09:11.14 God is deliberative. There's discussion going on 00:09:11.54\00:09:14.82 so that we understand why some didn't make it 00:09:14.92\00:09:17.78 and why others did that we weren't expecting. 00:09:17.98\00:09:20.25 After this deliberative judgment 00:09:20.55\00:09:22.93 comes... the New Jerusalem comes down. 00:09:23.13\00:09:26.01 Then there is the second resurrection of the wicked 00:09:26.31\00:09:30.25 and we see that what happens is... they still are rebellious. 00:09:30.45\00:09:34.55 They fight against the city 00:09:34.85\00:09:37.21 and there is the Great White Throne Judgment 00:09:37.51\00:09:41.63 which is only for the wicked dead. 00:09:42.04\00:09:45.16 Then we have... The final phase of judgment 00:09:45.47\00:09:50.58 is when fire comes down from heaven: 00:09:50.78\00:09:54.01 the executive judgment... the execution of the judgment. 00:09:54.15\00:09:57.60 And everything on earth that is a sin or a sinner is destroyed 00:09:58.10\00:10:04.07 and God creates a new heaven and a new earth. 00:10:04.37\00:10:08.39 Daniel 7:9-14 prophesies 00:10:09.34\00:10:13.52 the investigative judgment, and we know 00:10:13.72\00:10:16.41 that Daniel also talks about this little horn power 00:10:16.62\00:10:20.22 that is going to tramp on the daily services 00:10:20.32\00:10:23.68 of Christ's heavenly daily priestly ministry. 00:10:23.88\00:10:28.12 From history we know this little horn power... 00:10:28.62\00:10:32.39 There was a time of persecution that began in 538 AD 00:10:32.79\00:10:36.59 when it became not just a religious power 00:10:36.69\00:10:39.41 but a political power. 00:10:39.61\00:10:41.32 And this religio-political power 00:10:41.62\00:10:45.44 that began in 538 AD reigned with persecution 00:10:45.64\00:10:50.61 during the Dark Ages till 1798 AD. 00:10:50.82\00:10:53.35 But we know from scripture 00:10:53.65\00:10:55.69 that the investigative judgment is going to take place 00:10:55.99\00:10:59.41 after this. This is all a review. 00:10:59.61\00:11:02.61 Now, the most important thing 00:11:03.97\00:11:08.94 that we learned yesterday 00:11:09.25\00:11:11.55 is the grace of the investigative judgment 00:11:11.75\00:11:15.10 because the Bible says 00:11:15.50\00:11:18.88 God will rule in favor of the saints. 00:11:19.09\00:11:22.97 So what we're going to do today having that foundation... 00:11:23.27\00:11:26.69 We concluded yesterday speaking of Daniel 8:14, 00:11:27.98\00:11:32.76 and I want you to open your Bibles, please. 00:11:33.06\00:11:34.79 In Daniel 8:14 we see this little horn power 00:11:35.09\00:11:40.24 that is trampling down the daily services - 00:11:40.34\00:11:43.41 taking the place of Jesus, if you will - 00:11:43.81\00:11:48.74 and Daniel asks this question: 00:11:49.04\00:11:54.11 "How long, O Lord, is this going to go on? " 00:11:54.31\00:11:58.41 In Daniel 8:14 the answer comes. 00:11:58.81\00:12:03.36 "For 2300 days, then the sanctuary will be cleansed. " 00:12:04.19\00:12:10.07 Yesterday we also looked at 00:12:10.47\00:12:13.99 this being the antitypical Day of Atonement. 00:12:14.19\00:12:17.51 The Day of Atonement in the earthly sanctuary services 00:12:17.82\00:12:22.85 with the high priest happened once a year. 00:12:23.05\00:12:26.10 And it was a solemn day that ended in joy for the penitent 00:12:26.40\00:12:31.04 because all the record of their sins was expunged 00:12:31.24\00:12:35.78 and the temple was cleansed. 00:12:35.98\00:12:39.02 But now we are down to trying to figure out 00:12:39.91\00:12:45.68 when does this 2300 days begin. 00:12:45.98\00:12:49.42 This is one of the most important time prophecies 00:12:49.72\00:12:52.61 in the Bible. And we want to know when it begins 00:12:52.81\00:12:55.76 so that we can know... We know that... How long does it last? 00:12:55.86\00:13:00.18 After the 2300 days - excuse me - 00:13:00.38\00:13:04.14 Well, we know if that ends... when it ends 00:13:04.34\00:13:07.03 then we know when the investigative judgment begins 00:13:07.23\00:13:10.09 which lasts how long? 00:13:10.29\00:13:12.26 Right up till the end of probation when God - 00:13:13.18\00:13:17.78 Jesus - stands up and says: "Behold, I'm coming quickly. 00:13:18.02\00:13:21.30 My reward is with Me. " 00:13:21.50\00:13:23.96 So if we can identify in scrip- ture when the 2300 days begin 00:13:24.26\00:13:28.70 and end then we can identify the beginning of the time 00:13:29.00\00:13:34.14 of the cleansing of the sanctuary. 00:13:34.35\00:13:36.00 So what we're going to do is a quick review 00:13:36.31\00:13:39.27 of Bible prophecy. We're going to begin in Daniel 9. 00:13:39.47\00:13:43.39 You know, prophecy is nothing more than history 00:13:43.69\00:13:47.58 written in advance. 00:13:47.78\00:13:49.84 And it tells us what's going to happen before it happens. 00:13:50.14\00:13:53.93 Now what we will apply today is the prophetic principle 00:13:54.23\00:13:58.46 of one day of prophetic time equaling a literal year. 00:13:58.66\00:14:03.95 And I want you to know: Adventist aren't the only ones 00:14:04.25\00:14:06.15 who use this day-for-a-year principle. 00:14:06.25\00:14:08.62 We base that on Numbers 14:34 and Ezekiel 4:6. 00:14:08.92\00:14:12.93 But the greatest Jewish scholar who ever lived, 00:14:13.13\00:14:17.14 Raschid - he lived from AD 1040 to 1105- 00:14:17.34\00:14:20.77 he translated Daniel 8:14- those 2300 days - 00:14:20.87\00:14:25.85 as 2300 years. 00:14:26.05\00:14:27.85 And so does... Are you all familiar with 00:14:28.15\00:14:31.12 Matthew Henry, the great Protestant scholar. 00:14:31.32\00:14:34.04 He has a commentary that expounds... 00:14:34.34\00:14:36.64 On most pastors' desks you will find the Matthew Henry 00:14:37.75\00:14:41.33 Bible Commentary. 00:14:41.53\00:14:43.36 So Daniel 8:14. 00:14:43.56\00:14:44.93 He said: "For 2300 days 00:14:45.23\00:14:49.27 then the sanctuary will be cleansed. " 00:14:49.47\00:14:52.46 How many years is this? 00:14:52.76\00:14:54.35 2300 years. 00:14:55.50\00:14:58.17 And this activity begins in the time of the ram 00:14:58.48\00:15:02.34 which is Medo-Persia. 00:15:02.54\00:15:03.64 It goes down through Greece then Rome, the little horn power, 00:15:03.84\00:15:07.90 and right up to the point where the investigative judgment 00:15:08.04\00:15:12.31 begins... this cleansing of the temple. 00:15:12.51\00:15:14.43 It's obvious if it's going to cover all this time period 00:15:14.73\00:15:17.63 it's obvious that it can't be literal days 00:15:17.66\00:15:20.46 because 2300 days would be less than seven years. 00:15:20.77\00:15:23.54 But it is a day-for-a-year principle. 00:15:23.84\00:15:26.38 Now let's look at Daniel chapter 9 and verse 24. 00:15:26.68\00:15:31.95 Daniel 9 and verse 24. 00:15:35.40\00:15:37.46 "Seventy weeks are determined. " 00:15:37.76\00:15:41.46 And in the Greek that word determined is tatchuk. 00:15:41.66\00:15:44.46 Cut off... cut off. 00:15:44.76\00:15:47.31 From what? See, in Daniel and in prophecy 00:15:47.61\00:15:51.22 we see this idea of recapitulation 00:15:51.42\00:15:54.16 where it is repeat and enlarge. 00:15:54.36\00:15:56.60 So we have the vision in Daniel 7 of the Ancient of Days 00:15:56.80\00:16:00.74 being seated and the books being opened. 00:16:00.94\00:16:02.92 Then Daniel 8 tells us how long the war goes on. 00:16:03.12\00:16:07.34 And now we're about to come to the time of when will this 00:16:07.64\00:16:11.67 investigative judgment begin. 00:16:11.77\00:16:13.81 So Daniel 9 is repeating and enlarging. 00:16:14.01\00:16:16.87 And he says: "Seventy weeks are determined for your people. " 00:16:17.09\00:16:21.74 They are cut off 00:16:22.04\00:16:23.95 from this 2300 period... of... days. 00:16:24.05\00:16:29.01 They are "determined for your people, " talking to the Jews, 00:16:29.25\00:16:32.97 "for your holy city... " Jerusalem... 00:16:33.17\00:16:35.44 "to finish the transgression, to make an end of sins, 00:16:35.64\00:16:38.64 to make reconciliation for iniquity, 00:16:38.84\00:16:40.90 to bring in everlasting righteousness, 00:16:41.20\00:16:43.33 to seal up the vision in prophecy, 00:16:43.53\00:16:45.86 and to anoint the Most Holy. " 00:16:46.06\00:16:49.46 This 70 weeks... How many years would that be? 00:16:50.37\00:16:54.67 How many days are in a week? 00:16:54.87\00:16:56.29 There's seven days in a week times 70 weeks... 00:16:56.69\00:17:00.18 that's 490 years. This is a probationary period 00:17:00.31\00:17:05.94 for the Jews, during which time what do you think is happening? 00:17:06.14\00:17:11.49 If God is watching for them to finish transgression, 00:17:11.82\00:17:17.56 to do all of these things, what's happening during these 00:17:18.43\00:17:20.94 490 years? 00:17:21.04\00:17:23.14 God's investigating their records. 00:17:23.44\00:17:27.65 He's investigating their deeds if you will. 00:17:27.75\00:17:30.65 So He's trying to see if they will line up... 00:17:30.96\00:17:34.15 if their works will be proof of their profession. 00:17:34.45\00:17:38.05 But it's cut off from this 2300-day period. 00:17:38.35\00:17:41.20 This is an allotted time - a period of grace - 00:17:41.50\00:17:46.00 for the Jews. And He's wanting the Jewish nation 00:17:46.20\00:17:50.23 to line up with His purpose for calling them as a people. 00:17:50.43\00:17:55.13 Now look at verse 25... Daniel 9:25. 00:17:55.43\00:17:59.19 This is an amazing prophecy because it foretells the coming 00:17:59.49\00:18:03.56 and the time of the Messiah. 00:18:03.76\00:18:06.08 He says: "Know therefore and understand 00:18:06.48\00:18:08.77 that from the going forth of the command to restore 00:18:09.08\00:18:12.17 and rebuild Jerusalem until Messiah the Prince 00:18:12.38\00:18:16.26 there shall be seven weeks 00:18:16.46\00:18:20.00 and sixty-two weeks... " 00:18:20.30\00:18:23.52 Let me explain something here. 00:18:23.72\00:18:25.39 This seven-week period is that first one that he was talking 00:18:26.22\00:18:29.90 about. And then when he says: "and sixty-two... " essentially 00:18:30.01\00:18:34.86 he's saying: "there will be 7 weeks + 62 weeks. " 00:18:35.00\00:18:38.72 So 69 weeks which would be 483 literal years. 00:18:39.02\00:18:43.82 And he said: "The streets shall be built again 00:18:44.02\00:18:46.86 and the wall... even in troublous times. " 00:18:47.07\00:18:49.77 So here he's foretelling 00:18:50.07\00:18:53.72 the very time when Christ will appear and be anointed 00:18:54.52\00:19:00.24 in His ministry. 00:19:00.44\00:19:02.33 There were several decrees that were issued 00:19:02.63\00:19:07.21 to rebuild... two of them for parts of Jerusalem... 00:19:07.51\00:19:12.12 but only one of them qualifies to fulfill what's here 00:19:12.62\00:19:16.50 in Daniel 9:25. 00:19:16.60\00:19:18.25 Cyrus issued a decree to rebuild the temple. 00:19:18.56\00:19:21.88 Darius basically reinstated the same decree that Cyrus 00:19:22.28\00:19:28.23 had issued. But Artaxerxes I 00:19:28.43\00:19:32.28 is the one who decreed to both rebuild all of Jerusalem 00:19:32.58\00:19:38.16 and restore it, providing self-governance for Jerusalem 00:19:38.46\00:19:43.78 and the political autonomy... 00:19:43.98\00:19:46.05 religious autonomy and political autonomy. 00:19:46.45\00:19:49.40 So only the decree that is given by Artaxerxes 00:19:49.70\00:19:53.18 can meet the qualifications. So now we've got a beginning date. 00:19:53.38\00:19:58.39 This decree has been determined - 00:19:58.72\00:20:02.75 it's recorded and if you want to put a little note there... 00:20:02.95\00:20:06.25 If you're marking your Bible, right there in Daniel chapter 9 00:20:06.45\00:20:11.06 write down Ezra 7:12-26 00:20:11.19\00:20:16.11 because that is the decree and it was dated 00:20:16.22\00:20:19.96 at 457 BC. 00:20:20.16\00:20:23.29 So the 2300 days begins in 457 BC 00:20:23.59\00:20:29.57 because the 70 weeks begins... 00:20:29.77\00:20:32.48 and that 70 weeks is just lopped off from the front. 00:20:33.60\00:20:36.96 It's cut off for the Jews. 00:20:37.06\00:20:38.90 And guess what? As prophesied 00:20:39.20\00:20:43.06 for the very first seven-week prophetic period 00:20:43.26\00:20:47.08 when he said seven weeks, the rebuilding of Jerusalem 00:20:47.38\00:20:52.33 happened in exactly 7 prophetic weeks or 49 literal years. 00:20:53.91\00:20:59.89 It was completed in 408 BC. 00:20:59.99\00:21:02.78 And then Daniel 9 also prophesied that the Messiah 00:21:03.57\00:21:08.14 would come after the 69th week 00:21:08.34\00:21:10.47 which is 483 years from the issuance of the decree. 00:21:10.67\00:21:14.22 And as prophesied... You take 457; 00:21:14.62\00:21:18.62 you add 483 years; 00:21:18.82\00:21:21.33 you come to AD 27. 00:21:21.53\00:21:24.42 And what happened in AD 27? 00:21:24.62\00:21:27.12 Jesus was baptized. 00:21:28.15\00:21:30.60 He was baptized and anointed with the Holy Spirit. 00:21:30.90\00:21:35.14 Now Daniel 9:26 says this: 00:21:35.55\00:21:39.56 "After the sixty-two weeks... " 00:21:40.85\00:21:43.27 This is... What's going to be after the 62nd week? 00:21:43.57\00:21:48.52 I'm going to trick you here. 00:21:48.93\00:21:50.47 Remember you've got to have the seven weeks first 00:21:50.77\00:21:52.67 plus the sixty-two weeks. 00:21:52.97\00:21:54.74 So after the sixty-two weeks... those two total 69. 00:21:55.14\00:21:59.11 What comes after those 62 weeks? 00:21:59.24\00:22:01.57 The 70th week. 00:22:01.87\00:22:03.44 See, this prophecy is all time sequential. 00:22:03.64\00:22:07.94 It's talking about different portions but it's all 00:22:08.25\00:22:11.90 in a straight line. It is sequential weeks. 00:22:12.00\00:22:15.88 So when he says: "after the sixty-two weeks" 00:22:16.08\00:22:19.81 he's referring to the 70th week 00:22:19.91\00:22:22.08 because we've got to remember that previous seven weeks 00:22:22.28\00:22:24.57 rebuilding Jerusalem. 00:22:24.67\00:22:26.06 He says this then: 00:22:26.36\00:22:28.15 "Messiah shall be cut off. " 00:22:28.35\00:22:32.12 This is a different verb than when he said the 70 weeks 00:22:32.42\00:22:37.68 would be cut off. 00:22:37.88\00:22:40.20 This... When it says 70 weeks will be cut off 00:22:40.51\00:22:43.55 it's means literally it's just like OK we're apportioning this. 00:22:43.75\00:22:47.20 But here when he says "Messiah shall be cut off" 00:22:47.50\00:22:51.67 the Hebrew verb is KRT 00:22:51.97\00:22:55.85 and it is directly linked to the Levitical sacrificial system. 00:22:56.15\00:23:01.84 So it says: "Messiah shall be cut off but not for Himself. 00:23:02.04\00:23:06.87 And the people of the prince who is to come shall destroy 00:23:07.27\00:23:10.94 the city and the sanctuary. 00:23:11.05\00:23:12.53 The end of it shall be with a flood until the end of the war 00:23:12.73\00:23:16.22 desolations are determined. " 00:23:16.32\00:23:18.02 Messiah shall be cut off in the middle of the week we see here 00:23:19.02\00:23:24.68 in just a minute. Let me see, I've got that out of order 00:23:24.98\00:23:27.36 but it goes on in a minute to tell us that 00:23:27.56\00:23:29.38 just as the prophecy foretells. 00:23:29.58\00:23:34.84 How was Jesus cut off? 00:23:35.24\00:23:37.73 He was crucified 3-1/2 years into His ministry. 00:23:39.30\00:23:44.69 In AD 31 00:23:44.90\00:23:47.36 He was cut off at the cruel cross of Calvary 00:23:47.56\00:23:51.47 and sacrifice and offering came to an end. 00:23:51.97\00:23:55.90 His perfect sacrifice once for all 00:23:57.27\00:24:00.21 ended all of the Mosaic law of rituals and ceremonies. 00:24:00.51\00:24:06.43 Christ was the fulfillment of all of these. 00:24:06.63\00:24:10.68 They were the types... the shadows. 00:24:10.88\00:24:14.43 He is the antitype. 00:24:14.63\00:24:16.55 He is the body that cast the shadow. 00:24:16.75\00:24:20.45 So what an incredible time prophecy 00:24:20.85\00:24:24.40 Daniel 9:24-26 is. 00:24:24.70\00:24:27.87 But Messiah - although He was cut off 00:24:28.38\00:24:32.17 in the middle of that ministry, 00:24:32.37\00:24:37.23 earthly ministry - His heavenly ministry just began. 00:24:37.53\00:24:41.96 At His ascension, Christ went and inaugurated 00:24:42.19\00:24:45.84 the new covenant with His blood. 00:24:46.04\00:24:48.17 He began His priestly ministry 00:24:48.37\00:24:50.40 by anointing a Most Holy Place: the heavenly sanctuary. 00:24:50.70\00:24:56.25 Let me just read to you real quickly. 00:24:56.45\00:24:57.90 Hebrew 9:18-22 says: 00:24:58.10\00:25:00.39 "Therefore not even the first covenant 00:25:00.69\00:25:02.87 was dedicated without blood. 00:25:03.17\00:25:05.25 For when Moses had spoken every precept to all the people 00:25:05.45\00:25:08.45 according to the law he took the blood of calves and goats 00:25:08.55\00:25:11.01 with water, scarlet, wool, and hyssop 00:25:11.31\00:25:14.32 and sprinkled both the book... the book of the law, 00:25:14.52\00:25:17.96 the book of the covenant itself... " 00:25:18.06\00:25:20.28 He sprinkled the book... "and all of the people saying 00:25:20.38\00:25:23.17 'this is the blood of the covenant which God has 00:25:23.27\00:25:25.89 commanded you. ' Then likewise he sprinkled with 00:25:25.99\00:25:28.62 blood the tabernacle and all the vessels of the ministry. 00:25:28.72\00:25:32.04 And according to the law, almost all things are purified 00:25:32.25\00:25:35.62 with blood and without the shedding of blood 00:25:35.72\00:25:39.48 there is no remission. " 00:25:39.58\00:25:40.94 So Jesus went to the heavenly sanctuary 00:25:41.04\00:25:44.89 and inaugurated that new covenant. 00:25:44.99\00:25:49.78 Now look at verse 27... Daniel 9:27. 00:25:49.98\00:25:53.46 Again, this is a repeat and enlarge. 00:25:53.76\00:25:56.52 He says: "Then He shall confirm a covenant with many 00:25:56.82\00:25:59.89 for one week. " We're still talking about the 70th week 00:25:59.99\00:26:02.88 in which Jesus was cut off in the middle. 00:26:03.08\00:26:05.10 How did Jesus confirm? And he goes on to explain that. 00:26:05.50\00:26:09.17 He says: "In the middle of the week He shall bring an end 00:26:09.37\00:26:11.01 to sacrifice and offering. " 00:26:11.11\00:26:12.93 That's the scripture I was looking for. 00:26:13.23\00:26:14.93 How did Jesus? After He was cut off in the middle of this week 00:26:16.12\00:26:21.84 how did He confirm the covenant 00:26:22.24\00:26:26.98 for the remainder of that 70th week? 00:26:27.18\00:26:29.71 For those 3-1/2 years what happened? 00:26:30.01\00:26:32.93 Well, at His direction His disciples went only 00:26:34.32\00:26:38.85 to the Jews for those first 3-1/2 years after His ministry. 00:26:39.25\00:26:45.17 They fulfilled the remaining 3-1/2 years. 00:26:45.38\00:26:50.41 Listen to what Hebrews 2:3 says. 00:26:50.61\00:26:52.85 They confirmed the covenant. Hebrews 2:3 says: 00:26:53.15\00:26:56.96 "How shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation 00:26:57.06\00:27:00.46 which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord 00:27:00.76\00:27:03.93 and was confirmed to us by those who heard Him. " 00:27:04.13\00:27:08.56 It wasn't until Stephen was stoned 00:27:08.86\00:27:12.05 3-1/2 years later when Christ called Paul 00:27:12.25\00:27:17.08 to take the gospel to the Gentiles. 00:27:17.28\00:27:20.51 So everything in this time prophecy, 00:27:21.01\00:27:24.43 everything about these seventy weeks, 00:27:24.73\00:27:27.97 this special time of probation for the Jewish nation 00:27:28.17\00:27:32.20 to finish their transgressions, 00:27:32.33\00:27:34.39 everything was fulfilled. 00:27:34.69\00:27:36.54 And guess what happened at the end of the seventy weeks? 00:27:36.65\00:27:39.18 An investigative judgment. God saw the Jews, 00:27:40.72\00:27:45.24 weighed them in His balance, 00:27:45.44\00:27:49.31 and found that they were wanting. 00:27:49.51\00:27:51.70 So from Paul's day forward 00:27:52.00\00:27:54.27 to be part of God's chosen people 00:27:54.48\00:27:57.52 means that... doesn't mean any more 00:27:58.02\00:28:00.86 that you have to be a literal descendant of Abraham 00:28:00.96\00:28:05.89 because God now changed 00:28:06.19\00:28:10.30 who make up that group. 00:28:10.50\00:28:13.69 So we see that the 70 weeks - those 490 years 00:28:13.99\00:28:18.61 that were cut off from the beginning of the 2300 days - 00:28:18.74\00:28:22.20 they ended in AD 34. 00:28:23.32\00:28:27.62 So if we can determine how many years we have left 00:28:27.92\00:28:30.72 we can figure out the date for the end of the 2300-day 00:28:30.82\00:28:34.86 time prophecy. And when we know the end 00:28:34.96\00:28:38.05 of the date of the 2300-day time prophecy 00:28:38.15\00:28:41.04 we know when investigative judgment begins. 00:28:41.34\00:28:44.43 So let's look at it. 00:28:45.32\00:28:46.71 If the end of Israel's probation took us to AD 34, 00:28:47.74\00:28:53.44 if you take 490 from... 00:28:55.51\00:28:58.62 from 2300... minus 490... 00:29:00.55\00:29:04.42 If you can't do the math real quick I'll just tell you. 00:29:04.62\00:29:06.67 It's 1810 years left. 00:29:06.88\00:29:08.68 So 1810 years remained 00:29:08.98\00:29:12.88 from the time that Stephen was stoned 00:29:12.98\00:29:15.99 that the Jews were no longer considered God's chosen people 00:29:16.19\00:29:20.05 and that the Gentiles... It was only those who 00:29:21.25\00:29:24.31 were looking to Christ. 00:29:24.41\00:29:26.43 So AD 34... you add 1810 years, 00:29:27.02\00:29:31.77 where are we? 00:29:31.97\00:29:33.04 1810 plus... 00:29:33.79\00:29:37.81 to AD 34... that brings us to what? Say it out loud. 00:29:38.74\00:29:43.16 1844! I'm sorry I don't have some graphics for you. 00:29:43.46\00:29:47.04 But you know, when we sit down and talk about this with people 00:29:47.35\00:29:49.80 you need to make little notes in your Bible 00:29:50.00\00:29:52.27 'cause you're not always going to have a graph or a chart. 00:29:52.47\00:29:55.10 And this is an incredibly-important teaching. 00:29:55.40\00:29:59.16 It's an incredibly-important teaching. 00:29:59.46\00:30:02.30 So it brings us right to the time 00:30:02.61\00:30:05.43 of 1844. 00:30:05.64\00:30:09.15 All of this is found in Daniel 9:24-27. 00:30:09.35\00:30:13.22 Israel's time of probation 00:30:13.52\00:30:16.29 was determined as those seventy prophetic weeks: 00:30:16.49\00:30:19.58 490 years. 00:30:19.78\00:30:21.16 The prophecy is explained as a sequence of uninterrupted 00:30:21.36\00:30:25.83 weeks. That is so important. 00:30:25.93\00:30:29.32 You know what I was taught 00:30:29.62\00:30:31.35 in my early Christian experience? 00:30:31.65\00:30:33.95 That the 70th week was lopped off and taken down here 00:30:34.15\00:30:40.00 to the end of time somehow. 00:30:40.10\00:30:42.24 That's where you get all the left behind theories. 00:30:42.54\00:30:45.63 If you want to be able to minister 00:30:45.93\00:30:48.62 to people who believe that, 00:30:48.82\00:30:51.37 you need to learn how to explain this. 00:30:51.57\00:30:55.53 You don't have to have a chart. You can just make little notes. 00:30:55.83\00:30:58.89 Really effective just to set out and have a piece of paper 00:30:59.09\00:31:02.80 and just show them. I mean, do a little addition/subtraction 00:31:03.00\00:31:05.63 so they can understand it. 00:31:05.73\00:31:07.23 So that time prophecy was divided into the first 7 weeks, 00:31:07.53\00:31:12.97 62 weeks, and the final week: 490 years. 00:31:13.17\00:31:17.23 So based on knowing 00:31:17.73\00:31:21.02 that the 70 weeks began in 457. 00:31:21.42\00:31:25.76 They were cut off from the 2300 years. 00:31:25.97\00:31:28.33 It makes sense to then know that the 2300 years 00:31:29.40\00:31:34.49 began in 457. 00:31:34.69\00:31:37.51 It takes us right up to 1844. 00:31:37.71\00:31:40.89 That's the beginning of the investigative judgment. 00:31:41.09\00:31:44.68 The cleansing of the sanctuary began in 1844. 00:31:44.98\00:31:49.28 It is another probationary period for God's people. 00:31:49.58\00:31:54.73 This time for His new covenant people. 00:31:54.83\00:31:58.87 And once again God is challenging us. 00:31:59.07\00:32:02.11 Just as He said to them: "I'm giving you these 70 weeks, 00:32:02.31\00:32:05.07 these 490 years to lead a holy life" 00:32:05.27\00:32:07.82 God is once more challenging us 00:32:08.02\00:32:10.59 saying: "During this investigative judgment 00:32:10.79\00:32:13.90 it's the same thing. " 00:32:14.11\00:32:15.44 God's challenging His people to lead a holy life 00:32:15.74\00:32:19.05 and to do works that prove the profession of faith. 00:32:19.25\00:32:23.11 When does our probation end? 00:32:24.34\00:32:26.46 It ends when Jesus stands up 00:32:28.74\00:32:31.57 when the angel says: 00:32:31.87\00:32:33.64 "Let him who is filthy be filthy still. 00:32:33.84\00:32:38.37 Let him who is unjust be unjust still. 00:32:38.47\00:32:40.30 Let him who is righteous be righteous still 00:32:40.60\00:32:42.50 and he who is holy be holy still. " 00:32:42.70\00:32:44.29 In other words: "Time's up! 00:32:44.49\00:32:46.23 Ally ally in free. " 00:32:46.53\00:32:48.70 If only... if only. 00:32:49.00\00:32:51.86 So Jesus then stands up and says "Behold I am coming quickly 00:32:52.26\00:32:57.56 and My reward is in... 00:32:57.67\00:32:59.90 is... I'm going to give My reward to everyone 00:33:01.27\00:33:03.11 according to their work. " 00:33:03.22\00:33:04.59 That's when the probationary period closes on earth. 00:33:04.79\00:33:09.63 But I want to read you something. 00:33:10.60\00:33:12.32 Luke 12:19-20 00:33:13.20\00:33:15.17 says something a little different. 00:33:16.26\00:33:17.88 This is a foolish person 00:33:18.18\00:33:22.61 who says: "I'll say to myself 00:33:22.81\00:33:24.59 'Ah, I have plenty of good things laid up for many years. 00:33:24.79\00:33:27.91 I can take life easy: eat, drink, and be merry. ' 00:33:28.11\00:33:31.58 But God said to him: 'You fool. 00:33:31.78\00:33:34.96 This very night your life will be demanded from you. 00:33:35.36\00:33:39.16 Then who will get what you've prepared for yourself? ' " 00:33:39.46\00:33:43.58 See, probation may continue till the end of time 00:33:43.88\00:33:49.55 for God's chosen people but individuals... 00:33:50.65\00:33:54.00 their probation is closed when they breathe that last breath. 00:33:54.20\00:33:59.17 As long as you've got a breath in you you've got a chance. 00:34:00.80\00:34:03.65 And I know someone whose father recently accepted Christ 00:34:04.81\00:34:10.13 maybe 5 minutes before he died. 00:34:10.33\00:34:12.95 And you think: "What a joy 00:34:13.93\00:34:17.64 that is for the family to have that blessed hope. " 00:34:17.84\00:34:20.93 But what a wasted life. 00:34:21.24\00:34:24.49 How sad that he had to live in the sin and degradation 00:34:24.89\00:34:30.51 that he lived in right up to the end time. 00:34:30.71\00:34:32.81 And if we understand the joy of investigative judgment 00:34:33.82\00:34:39.82 which we're getting to 00:34:40.02\00:34:41.86 we will be able to go out and explain to people 00:34:42.06\00:34:45.79 not with that lash of fear and saying, you know, 00:34:45.99\00:34:50.32 a fear-driven thing that "this is the time of 00:34:50.42\00:34:53.18 probationary judgment. You've got to be holy. " 00:34:53.28\00:34:57.18 No! That doesn't win anybody over. 00:34:58.18\00:35:00.59 What wins people over is when you go out and say 00:35:00.79\00:35:04.29 "This is the time of the end. It has been prophesied; 00:35:04.42\00:35:07.61 time is coming to an end. " 00:35:07.91\00:35:10.39 Did you know that time did not exist before the world began? 00:35:10.49\00:35:15.31 The Bible says that in several places. 00:35:16.19\00:35:18.71 And finally physicists... About 15 years ago 00:35:18.91\00:35:24.52 physicists finally determined 00:35:24.82\00:35:27.69 that time didn't exist before our world was created. 00:35:28.09\00:35:32.08 So time's running out; it's the time of God's grace. 00:35:33.30\00:35:37.77 It's a time of mercy during this investigative judgment. 00:35:38.08\00:35:42.32 God is reviewing individual cases, 00:35:42.63\00:35:45.53 and what He is looking for is to see whether or not 00:35:45.83\00:35:50.74 they have accepted His attempt to save them. 00:35:50.94\00:35:54.94 Have they accepted justification by grace? 00:35:55.24\00:35:59.26 Have they accepted sanctification by grace? 00:35:59.47\00:36:03.79 A new heart from the Lord? 00:36:04.03\00:36:06.52 The books are open, and it's not just judging the saints. 00:36:07.70\00:36:12.32 Do you remember what we talked about yesterday? 00:36:12.62\00:36:16.85 I think we talked about it. 00:36:17.05\00:36:18.72 In the times of the Hebrews the judge 00:36:19.02\00:36:24.17 was also the defense attorney. 00:36:24.47\00:36:27.12 Did you know that? 00:36:27.42\00:36:29.17 So we see God seated as judge, 00:36:30.23\00:36:34.10 the Ancient of Days, then we have 00:36:34.34\00:36:38.57 the Son of Man coming... 00:36:38.77\00:36:41.24 the Son of Man who stands as our advocate, 00:36:41.34\00:36:44.84 our intercessor. 00:36:44.94\00:36:46.28 He's coming before God. God is anxious to defend you, 00:36:46.49\00:36:51.63 but He's looking at your works to see 00:36:52.70\00:36:56.50 if your profession of faith lines up... 00:36:56.80\00:36:59.88 if your works line up with your profession of faith. 00:37:00.09\00:37:03.60 See, the good news: the joy of the investigative judgment 00:37:03.83\00:37:07.87 is God's on your side! 00:37:08.08\00:37:10.14 This judgment is predominantly vindicatory. 00:37:10.64\00:37:16.53 That's a big word, isn't it? 00:37:16.83\00:37:18.54 Vindicatory... it vindicates God's saints. 00:37:18.74\00:37:22.96 Satan, the accuser, has been accusing all along. 00:37:24.10\00:37:26.90 "They don't deserve salvation. 00:37:27.10\00:37:29.20 They don't deserve it; they've broken Your law. " 00:37:29.40\00:37:32.29 And God is saying: "Ah, they've accepted My Son. 00:37:32.59\00:37:38.13 For I so loved the world that I gave My only begotten Son 00:37:38.16\00:37:41.42 and I demonstrated My love for you in this: 00:37:41.62\00:37:44.47 that while you were yet sinners I sent Him to die for you. 00:37:44.67\00:37:47.27 How much more do you think I'll do for you now? " 00:37:47.57\00:37:49.88 Oh, we've got to give up this idea 00:37:50.39\00:37:53.22 of "Oh, the investigative judgment. " 00:37:53.42\00:37:56.94 It is all about vindicating God's saints 00:37:57.24\00:38:00.86 and vindicating God's reputation. 00:38:01.06\00:38:03.67 God is very anxious to vindicate His reputation, 00:38:04.89\00:38:08.61 to vindicate His character. 00:38:08.81\00:38:10.95 You know, Satan is the one who began all of the lies about God: 00:38:11.92\00:38:16.61 that He was 00:38:16.81\00:38:18.84 an angry, judgmental God 00:38:22.75\00:38:28.62 who expected too much out of people. 00:38:28.82\00:38:30.99 And all of these lies have... Well I certainly inherited them. 00:38:31.19\00:38:35.30 Oh, I feared God the Father. 00:38:35.60\00:38:37.94 How I feared the Father. I loved Jesus growing up, 00:38:38.24\00:38:41.90 but all you had to mention was God the Father 00:38:42.20\00:38:45.77 and it struck a note of fear in my heart. 00:38:45.97\00:38:47.98 Because I thought the Ancient of Days was sitting on 00:38:48.28\00:38:51.79 His holy throne watching me just ready to zap me the second 00:38:51.89\00:38:56.48 He saw me do something wrong. 00:38:56.58\00:38:58.56 I was taught that if I wasn't perfect 00:38:58.76\00:39:01.73 God wouldn't love me. 00:39:01.93\00:39:03.37 And you know what that does? 00:39:03.77\00:39:05.53 That will send you hightailing. 00:39:07.00\00:39:09.97 I tried so hard to be a good girl. 00:39:10.27\00:39:13.84 Ooh... I tried to work out my salvation with fear and 00:39:14.14\00:39:17.90 trembling. But rules without relationship 00:39:18.00\00:39:22.04 results in rebellion. And I finally got to the point 00:39:22.24\00:39:25.37 that I said: "I can't do it, God. You expect too much 00:39:25.57\00:39:28.77 out of me. Adios. " 00:39:28.97\00:39:30.97 And I turned my back on God for two years. 00:39:31.27\00:39:34.22 It was like the fool who said: "Let me eat, drink, 00:39:34.52\00:39:38.91 and be merry. " I mean, why not? 00:39:39.01\00:39:41.98 "I've been such a good girl all through high school 00:39:42.28\00:39:45.18 and through college and everything and it was like 00:39:45.38\00:39:47.32 "I can't please You, Lord. " 00:39:47.52\00:39:49.56 What a lie! And I bought in to this deceitful lie. 00:39:49.97\00:39:55.64 But what God is doing is He is vindicating His judgment 00:39:55.94\00:40:00.99 before all of the angels and the heavenly intelligences. 00:40:01.02\00:40:04.24 He's vindicating His character. 00:40:04.54\00:40:08.24 This is an investigative judgment about grace! 00:40:08.54\00:40:13.31 All about grace. 00:40:13.98\00:40:15.51 Now yes, our works... 00:40:15.81\00:40:18.78 Jesus says: "I'm going to give to everyone a reward 00:40:19.08\00:40:22.78 according to their works. " So everybody always says 00:40:22.98\00:40:26.24 "Right there... see? We're judged by works. " 00:40:26.44\00:40:29.68 Let me tell you something: 00:40:31.59\00:40:32.90 Yes we are... 00:40:33.87\00:40:35.32 because works prove what you do. 00:40:35.62\00:40:39.18 Works are your duty. 00:40:39.28\00:40:41.14 And you can say Jesus is your Savior, 00:40:41.44\00:40:44.56 you can go out and do ministry even, 00:40:44.77\00:40:49.39 and the day may come when the Lord says 00:40:49.69\00:40:52.53 "Depart from Me; I never knew you 00:40:52.73\00:40:54.65 you who practice lawlessness. " 00:40:54.85\00:40:58.30 See, salvation is only by grace, 00:40:58.80\00:41:04.76 not grace + works. Please hear me. 00:41:04.96\00:41:08.38 It is only by grace. 00:41:08.78\00:41:11.20 But if you understand the gifts of God's grace 00:41:11.50\00:41:14.86 you'll understand the effects of God's grace. 00:41:15.06\00:41:17.68 The three greatest gifts of grace are Jesus Christ our Lord 00:41:18.83\00:41:23.46 and Savior; the Holy Spirit; 00:41:23.56\00:41:26.50 and the Word of God. 00:41:26.80\00:41:28.96 And when the Spirit is working in you... 00:41:29.26\00:41:32.08 Yes, Paul says: "Work out your own salvation 00:41:32.28\00:41:36.12 with fear and trembling. " 00:41:36.32\00:41:37.60 but in the very next verse - Hebrews 2:13- he says: 00:41:37.80\00:41:41.28 "Not in your own strength for it is God who works in you 00:41:41.48\00:41:45.73 to will and to do His good pleasure. " 00:41:46.03\00:41:48.13 Our job is simply to surrender... 00:41:48.33\00:41:51.35 to pick up our cross every day and die to self. 00:41:51.65\00:41:54.11 And we can't even do that by ourself. 00:41:54.31\00:41:56.09 We've got to have the Holy Spirit. 00:41:56.19\00:41:58.46 But the good news is that 00:41:58.96\00:42:03.35 if we will receive Christ as our Savior, our Redeemer, 00:42:04.40\00:42:08.22 our Deliverer, 00:42:08.32\00:42:09.78 if we will accept His sub- stitutionary death at the cross 00:42:09.98\00:42:14.03 for us, if we will accept His ministry as our High Priest 00:42:14.23\00:42:18.81 in the Most Holy Place, 00:42:19.11\00:42:20.56 we're saved. 00:42:20.86\00:42:22.82 Do you have assurance of salvation today? 00:42:23.21\00:42:25.98 Let me ask you that. 00:42:26.18\00:42:27.59 I hope you do. 00:42:28.70\00:42:30.17 I John 5:10-13 says 00:42:30.47\00:42:33.23 that anyone who does not accept the testimony of God 00:42:33.43\00:42:38.56 is regarding Him as a liar. 00:42:38.76\00:42:41.31 And then He says: "This is the testimony: 00:42:41.61\00:42:44.78 he who has the Son has life; 00:42:45.08\00:42:48.58 he who does not have the Son does not have life. " 00:42:48.78\00:42:52.99 If you are abiding in Christ, 00:42:53.29\00:42:56.76 you have assurance of salvation. 00:42:56.96\00:42:58.75 It is not once saved always saved. 00:42:58.95\00:43:01.12 And I've got to go quickly because I've got to get 00:43:01.22\00:43:04.35 a balance in here. Usually at least when I talk with people 00:43:04.45\00:43:09.79 usually when they think of the investigative judgment 00:43:09.99\00:43:13.23 they are only concentrating on the penal part... 00:43:13.53\00:43:18.51 the punishment. 00:43:18.71\00:43:20.34 Right now we are concentrating on the grace which far outweighs 00:43:21.21\00:43:25.54 that, but I have to get that penal part in here 00:43:25.64\00:43:28.72 because otherwise I'm not teaching a whole truth. 00:43:29.02\00:43:33.43 But the joy of investigative judgment is that we have 00:43:34.42\00:43:37.83 a benevolent judge, the righteous Father, 00:43:38.03\00:43:41.01 who serves as our defense attorney. 00:43:41.31\00:43:44.94 This is a message of exceeding promise 00:43:46.08\00:43:49.81 of God's mercy, His grace, and His hope. 00:43:50.11\00:43:53.17 It's deliverance of sin. 00:43:53.47\00:43:56.08 Our only hope to stand in the investigative judgment 00:43:57.24\00:44:01.57 is to stand in the righteousness of Jesus Christ. 00:44:01.87\00:44:05.58 There is nothing you can do to make yourself righteous. 00:44:06.64\00:44:10.00 I don't care if you pray four hours a day, 00:44:10.40\00:44:13.48 if you study the Bible six hours a day, 00:44:13.78\00:44:16.77 you cannot make yourself righteous by your works. 00:44:18.06\00:44:21.03 It is only the robe of righteousness that Jesus Christ 00:44:21.53\00:44:26.03 gives us that will make us righteous. 00:44:26.13\00:44:29.07 It's the only solid ground that we have to stand on. 00:44:29.27\00:44:33.36 And the good news is: salvation is by grace. 00:44:34.55\00:44:39.20 But now let's take a moment to talk about the penal aspect. 00:44:39.30\00:44:43.60 Because if we were looking at the Day of Atonement... 00:44:43.90\00:44:47.51 What happened for God's people during the Day of Atonement? 00:44:48.29\00:44:50.99 How did it end? 00:44:51.19\00:44:52.22 Do you think it ended on a joyous note 00:44:53.42\00:44:55.78 when the sanctuary was cleansed? 00:44:56.08\00:44:58.23 When their sins were expunged? 00:44:58.63\00:45:01.57 Ah, it was a day of great celebration 00:45:01.87\00:45:05.10 if you were one of the penitent. 00:45:05.30\00:45:07.44 But how did it end for those who did not humble themselves 00:45:07.84\00:45:13.38 before the Lord who remained rebellious? 00:45:13.58\00:45:16.37 It ended in condemnation and death. 00:45:16.67\00:45:19.15 And likewise, this is what happens in heaven. 00:45:19.65\00:45:24.30 Not all whose names are written in the Book of Life 00:45:24.70\00:45:29.13 will remain faithful. 00:45:29.33\00:45:31.89 See, you get your name written in the Book of Life 00:45:31.99\00:45:33.90 when you accept justification by grace... 00:45:34.10\00:45:36.87 what Christ did for you on the cross. 00:45:38.99\00:45:42.14 But we also have to accept sanctification by grace 00:45:42.34\00:45:45.59 while God does a work in us to sanctify us, 00:45:46.59\00:45:50.74 to separate us from sin. 00:45:50.94\00:45:53.16 And there's ample evidence in scripture that salvation by 00:45:54.26\00:45:58.79 grace can be forfeited. 00:45:58.89\00:46:00.87 People who were once saved can choose to walk away. 00:46:01.07\00:46:03.94 And some names, those of the unfaithful, will be blotted out 00:46:04.24\00:46:09.14 of the Book of Life during the investigative judgment. 00:46:09.34\00:46:13.30 Exodus 32 is the first reference 00:46:14.30\00:46:18.82 we have to this type of activity in heaven. 00:46:19.02\00:46:22.37 Exodus 32:32. 00:46:22.77\00:46:25.67 Moses has just done one of the most amazing things. 00:46:28.60\00:46:32.22 Moses was a type of Christ, 00:46:32.52\00:46:34.34 and Moses has just told the Lord 00:46:34.74\00:46:37.51 "Ah, forgive these people please. 00:46:37.71\00:46:40.24 And if not, I pray Thee blot my name out 00:46:40.44\00:46:43.33 of Your book. " Not theirs... blot mine. 00:46:43.53\00:46:46.36 You know what? I love you guys but I don't know if I love you 00:46:46.66\00:46:48.97 enough yet to ask God to blot my name out 00:46:49.08\00:46:52.62 instead of your names out. 00:46:52.82\00:46:54.60 That's love! 00:46:55.00\00:46:56.81 Moses was saying: "I will suffer eternal death 00:46:56.91\00:47:02.25 for the sake of these people. " 00:47:02.65\00:47:05.84 Do you see how he's a type of Christ in all ways? 00:47:06.99\00:47:10.05 He was a deliverer, and Jesus came and He was willing 00:47:10.35\00:47:14.99 to suffer the second death for us. 00:47:15.29\00:47:18.11 And, you know, God says to Moses in verse 32... 00:47:19.82\00:47:23.76 Let's read... It's actually Moses speaking. He says: 00:47:23.90\00:47:28.15 "Yet now if You will, forgive their sins. 00:47:28.45\00:47:31.38 But if not, I pray, blot me out of Your book 00:47:31.58\00:47:35.01 which You have written. " 00:47:35.21\00:47:36.28 What was the Lord's response? 00:47:36.58\00:47:38.02 The Lord said to Moses: "Whoever has sinned against Me 00:47:38.22\00:47:41.85 I will blot him out of My book. " 00:47:42.05\00:47:46.10 In the Old Testament this is established. 00:47:47.80\00:47:50.77 In the New Testament we have Jesus Himself. 00:47:50.97\00:47:53.67 Turn to Revelation 3:5. 00:47:53.87\00:47:56.10 Revelation 3 and verse 5. 00:47:56.41\00:47:58.56 Because there's not just joy in the investigative judgment... 00:47:58.66\00:48:02.11 there is a sober, sorrowful note 00:48:02.41\00:48:06.35 in the investigative judgment. 00:48:06.55\00:48:08.54 Revelation 3 and verse 5: 00:48:08.84\00:48:11.45 "He who overcomes... " This is Jesus speaking. 00:48:17.43\00:48:22.12 "He who overcomes shall be clothed in white garments 00:48:23.87\00:48:29.60 and I will not blot out his name 00:48:29.80\00:48:34.74 from the Book of Life. " 00:48:34.94\00:48:36.67 What does that infer? 00:48:38.09\00:48:40.15 That if you don't overcome, what's going to happen? 00:48:41.48\00:48:44.63 You will get your name blotted out. 00:48:45.13\00:48:47.68 But Jesus says: "Don't worry; if you overcome 00:48:50.24\00:48:53.67 you'll be clothed in white garments. I'll not 00:48:54.71\00:48:56.97 blot your name out from the Book of Life. 00:48:57.07\00:48:59.46 But I will confess his name before My Father 00:48:59.76\00:49:03.43 and before His angels. " 00:49:03.53\00:49:04.56 See, the sober news of the investigative judgment is this: 00:49:04.75\00:49:08.63 the fate of all will be sealed 00:49:08.87\00:49:12.85 during the investigative judgment. 00:49:13.96\00:49:16.47 The Book of Life will be opened. 00:49:17.74\00:49:20.29 The Book of Remembrance... all the books will be opened. 00:49:20.59\00:49:23.26 And remember... Let me pause; don't let me 00:49:24.62\00:49:27.00 forget where I'm coming back. 00:49:27.10\00:49:28.34 During the Day of Atonement who was judged? 00:49:28.74\00:49:31.76 Only God's people. 00:49:34.15\00:49:35.64 ONLY God's people. 00:49:36.04\00:49:37.82 Non-Israelites were not judged during the Day of Atonement. 00:49:38.03\00:49:41.42 The day of investigative judgment that began in 1844 00:49:41.93\00:49:47.52 when the hour of His judgment began 00:49:47.72\00:49:50.09 it is only God's people who are being investigated. 00:49:50.39\00:49:54.25 Only those whose names are written in the Book of Life. 00:49:54.65\00:49:58.76 But just because you have accepted Christ as your Savior 00:50:00.08\00:50:04.13 does not mean 00:50:04.23\00:50:05.61 that you are going to have eternal life. 00:50:08.29\00:50:11.12 You've got to accept Him as Lord. 00:50:11.42\00:50:13.80 And you know, don't be fearful about this because 00:50:14.80\00:50:18.06 it is all by grace... salvation. 00:50:18.36\00:50:21.78 God wants to do this work in us. 00:50:22.08\00:50:24.94 All we've got to do is say: "OK, Lord. Here I am. " 00:50:25.34\00:50:30.06 What was the scripture that? Do you remember from last night 00:50:31.34\00:50:34.05 anybody? What scripture was it that 00:50:34.15\00:50:36.63 Pastor Dwight Nelson quoted and said that Ellen White said 00:50:39.48\00:50:42.95 to plead before the Lord? 00:50:43.05\00:50:44.73 Ya'll remember that? Last night? Any A students in here? 00:50:44.94\00:50:48.53 What was it? John 6:37. 00:50:50.54\00:50:54.73 Let's read that. 00:50:54.94\00:50:55.97 John 6:37. 00:50:56.25\00:50:58.63 John 6:37. 00:51:04.10\00:51:06.45 'Cause see, as soon as we start talking about punishment 00:51:08.54\00:51:11.38 in the penal phase, guess what? 00:51:11.58\00:51:13.28 Everybody's face changes out here. 00:51:13.38\00:51:15.46 I can read somebody's mind. 00:51:15.76\00:51:17.74 Not really... but I read my own mind. 00:51:18.04\00:51:20.48 And that is that "When you're talking about grace I'll smile; 00:51:21.55\00:51:25.07 when you start talking about punishment it's like... 00:51:25.28\00:51:27.46 ooh, am I in grace or not? " 00:51:27.66\00:51:29.24 You know, isn't it amazing how funny we are. 00:51:29.54\00:51:32.12 John 6:37. 00:51:32.22\00:51:34.42 Let me find it here. 00:51:35.95\00:51:37.77 "All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, 00:51:39.87\00:51:43.22 and the one who comes to Me 00:51:43.42\00:51:46.04 I will by no means cast out. " 00:51:46.24\00:51:49.98 Hallelujah! You can plead that promise. 00:51:50.28\00:51:54.78 But you know what? You can choose to walk away from God. 00:51:55.08\00:51:58.18 And there is condemnation and eternal death 00:51:58.48\00:52:03.58 for those who choose a life of rebellion and sin. 00:52:03.78\00:52:07.40 You know what? I was reading Matthew 26 00:52:07.70\00:52:12.41 about the ten virgins. 00:52:14.20\00:52:16.52 In scripture, how is the church referred to? 00:52:16.82\00:52:20.43 As a virgin. 00:52:21.73\00:52:23.19 We've got ten virgins in this story: 00:52:23.49\00:52:27.21 five are foolish; five are wise. 00:52:27.51\00:52:29.14 OK. Does this mean they're all in the church? 00:52:30.04\00:52:33.93 That DOES MEAN they're all in the church. 00:52:34.23\00:52:36.85 The five wise have this flask 00:52:38.35\00:52:43.37 of extra oil. What does oil symbolize? 00:52:43.41\00:52:46.59 Holy Spirit. 00:52:46.89\00:52:49.03 Well how did these other five foolish get into the church? 00:52:49.33\00:52:52.95 They all experienced a taste of God's grace. 00:52:53.05\00:52:56.93 The five... all 10 of them experienced justification 00:52:57.61\00:53:03.60 by faith... by grace through faith. 00:53:03.80\00:53:09.29 But the five foolish refused the work of the Holy Spirit 00:53:10.43\00:53:15.64 that they might have sanctification. 00:53:16.05\00:53:19.99 "For this is the will of God" Paul told the Thessalonians: 00:53:20.29\00:53:23.88 "your sanctification. " 00:53:24.09\00:53:26.89 Sanctification by grace through faith in Christ Jesus. 00:53:27.19\00:53:30.97 Sanctification meaning that you're separated from sin. 00:53:31.27\00:53:35.41 And see, when we talk about the wedding guest... 00:53:35.71\00:53:40.28 Remember when Jesus was telling the parable 00:53:40.61\00:53:42.71 about the wedding guest? 00:53:42.82\00:53:44.55 And he got in and the king comes 00:53:45.60\00:53:48.70 and he's looking around and he sees one 00:53:48.90\00:53:50.89 who is not clothed right. 00:53:50.99\00:53:54.38 And the king is saying: "Hmm, I know that I provide... 00:53:54.68\00:53:57.32 I provide clothing. I provide all of my guests 00:53:57.52\00:54:01.75 with wedding clothing. Why doesn't this one have it on? " 00:54:01.95\00:54:05.08 And he goes to him and he says... 00:54:05.38\00:54:07.97 Listen to what he said. He said: 00:54:08.27\00:54:10.26 "Friend, how did you get in here dressed like that? " 00:54:10.46\00:54:14.06 He calls him friend. 00:54:14.36\00:54:16.29 And you know what? If the man had said 00:54:17.81\00:54:21.72 "Lord - or king - I didn't know it was available" 00:54:21.92\00:54:26.20 the good king would have come and said: "Here. " 00:54:26.40\00:54:28.85 But no... the man knew. 00:54:29.15\00:54:30.90 I know he knew because he was speechless. 00:54:31.30\00:54:34.08 He knew he was doing wrong. 00:54:34.38\00:54:36.12 And there's going to be people who think that they can get 00:54:36.22\00:54:38.71 to heaven but they're not going to make it. 00:54:38.81\00:54:41.69 Peter writes this. He says: 00:54:43.19\00:54:45.56 "Therefore beloved, since you know this beforehand 00:54:45.66\00:54:48.92 beware lest you also fall from your own steadfastness, 00:54:49.32\00:54:53.56 being led away with the error of the wicked. 00:54:53.76\00:54:56.96 But grow in grace and in the knowledge of 00:54:57.26\00:55:00.03 our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. " 00:55:00.23\00:55:02.81 One way or the other, all... 00:55:04.08\00:55:06.01 fate is going to be sealed there 00:55:06.11\00:55:11.09 in the investigative judgment. 00:55:11.12\00:55:13.08 And then the angel stands up and says 00:55:13.38\00:55:16.24 "He who is unjust let him be unjust still. 00:55:16.44\00:55:18.46 If he didn't take this time of probation, 00:55:21.25\00:55:23.95 if he was like the old ancient Israelites, 00:55:24.15\00:55:27.26 through their 490 years of probation 00:55:27.46\00:55:29.56 they didn't put an end to transgression... 00:55:29.76\00:55:31.71 they wouldn't accept what God's plan was for their life, 00:55:32.01\00:55:35.89 OK, time's up. " 00:55:36.19\00:55:38.57 "Ready or not... here I come. " 00:55:39.07\00:55:42.45 But those who are clothed in the righteousness of Jesus 00:55:43.40\00:55:46.73 Christ, those who are looking to Jesus, 00:55:46.83\00:55:49.72 know that He will in no wise cast you out. 00:55:50.54\00:55:56.47 You've got to let go of His hand. 00:55:56.77\00:55:59.44 God began the 2300-day prophecy by cutting off 70 weeks 00:56:01.00\00:56:05.26 for His old covenant people. 490 probationary years. 00:56:05.46\00:56:08.87 At the conclusion of this time prophecy in 1844 00:56:09.28\00:56:12.77 He introduced a probationary period for His new covenant 00:56:12.97\00:56:15.97 people. We seem to think it's been a long time 00:56:16.17\00:56:18.50 but so far it's only been 170 years... not quite. 00:56:18.60\00:56:22.33 See, II Peter says this 00:56:23.38\00:56:25.76 chapter 3 verses 8-9. 00:56:26.06\00:56:28.48 "Beloved, do not forget this one thing: that with the Lord 00:56:28.62\00:56:32.35 one day is as a thousand years 00:56:32.55\00:56:34.59 and a thousand years as one day. 00:56:34.80\00:56:36.43 The Lord is not slack concerning His promise 00:56:36.73\00:56:39.73 as some count slackness but is longsuffering 00:56:39.83\00:56:42.73 toward us... not willing that any should perish 00:56:42.83\00:56:45.84 but that all should come to repentance. " 00:56:46.14\00:56:48.53 We can't become complacent 00:56:48.93\00:56:51.36 'cause we're not promised a certain time. 00:56:51.77\00:56:54.64 The last events will be rapid. 00:56:54.94\00:56:57.00 But we can have joy in our heart knowing 00:56:57.31\00:56:59.70 that at that time "Michael will stand up" 00:56:59.90\00:57:02.04 the great Prince who watches over the sons of His people, 00:57:02.24\00:57:05.55 and He is going to wake people from the dust of the earth. 00:57:05.75\00:57:10.24 The investigative judgment is complete. 00:57:10.55\00:57:13.97 He's going to raise up His children 00:57:14.28\00:57:18.61 in that first resurrection 00:57:18.92\00:57:20.71 and take them to heaven by grace. 00:57:20.91\00:57:23.82 It is all by grace. 00:57:24.12\00:57:25.22 There is joy in the investigative judgment. 00:57:25.32\00:57:29.38
