01:13 One of the most important subjects 01:15 you could ever hear, 01:16 the mystery of death and the occult. 01:19 Please welcome the presenter of Revelation Today, 01:22 Ron Halvorsen. 01:27 Tonight, we're going to look at that subject 01:29 "The Mystery of Death- The Occult." 01:30 Let's bow our heads word of prayer. 01:32 Gracious Father, I pray now 01:33 for the Holy Spirit to guide and direct us 01:35 to this very important subject. 01:38 We know that in the last days according to Revelation 01:41 that this will be a great means of deception, 01:45 not only to those who do not know Christ, 01:47 but to those who even claim Christ is Lord and Savior. 01:52 We pray tonight that Your word will be clear 01:54 that we'll see and understand 01:56 and weigh the evidence 01:58 and then, Father, we might 02:00 know and understand that you are a God, 02:02 greater than all the demons we have. 02:05 In Christ's name, amen. 02:09 "The Mystery of Death- The Occult." 02:12 Amazing today that in this sophisticated 02:15 and well educated culture 02:18 that we're still talking about on occult phenomena. 02:22 In fact, I think of the occult phenomena 02:26 on the TV program 02:27 where twelve and half million people 02:30 watch this program faithfully, The Walking Dead. 02:34 And by the way, it's capturing imagination 02:36 of people all across the country. 02:37 In fact, now I think it's even reaching out 02:40 around the world, the people. 02:42 This television program which was first viewed in 2010 02:47 on MAMC Cable Television 02:50 and twelve and half million people 02:53 watching a flesh eating zombie or zombies. 02:59 The Walking Dead 03:01 is America's horror television drama series 03:05 developed by Frank Darabont. 03:08 It is based on the comic book 03:10 series of the same name by Robert Kirkman 03:12 and Tony Moore, and Charlie Adlard. 03:15 So are they caught up in this since become occult, 03:18 practice and following? 03:19 Just like some follow Batman, Superman, 03:23 now they are following The Walking Dead. 03:27 When it premiered twelve and half million people 03:32 watch the program on cable. 03:35 Why is this occult explosion? 03:37 I mean, why is this? 03:39 When we look at the movies, The Dark Knight Rises, 03:42 we talk about The Evil Dead, 03:44 The Star Wars- Attack of the Clones, Devil's Knot. 03:48 We go on, The Fifth Element. 03:51 Why is this interest in the occult? 03:53 Why lately has there been such an interest? 03:56 I could go on and on and on and on. 03:58 I mean, John writes about it on the Isle of Patmos. 04:00 He says this would be a problem in the last days. 04:03 This would be a part 04:04 of the deceptive work of antichrist. 04:07 And I want you to notice what he says here John, 04:09 "And the sixth angel poured out 04:11 his vial upon the great river Euphrates, 04:13 and the water thereof was dried up, 04:16 that the way of the kings of the east might be prepared." 04:20 He says, "And I saw three unclean spirits 04:23 like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, 04:26 out of the mouth of the beast, 04:27 and out of the mouth of the false prophet." 04:29 And he says, 04:31 "These are the spirits of," what? 04:33 "Devils, working miracles, 04:35 which go forth unto the kings of the earth 04:38 and of the whole world, to gather them 04:40 to the battle of that great day of God Almighty." 04:43 Called the Battle of Armageddon. 04:47 So as time marches on 04:49 as we get closer and closer to end time 04:51 the Bible says there would be more and more 04:53 of these occult phenomena, there would be more and more 04:56 of this demon and demon worship 04:59 as we get closer to the end of time. 05:05 And we can see that everywhere. 05:07 Now we talk about the horoscope and séances, 05:10 and I mean, all forms of communicating with the dead. 05:13 I mean, they talk about the outer body experience 05:15 and this is all setting the stage 05:18 for the great deception of Satan in the last days. 05:21 And they talk about 05:23 the crystal ball, fortune telling 05:26 and all these falls under the occult deception. 05:30 In Deuteronomy 18:9-12, it says this, 05:34 "When thou art come into the land 05:35 which the Lord thy God giveth thee, 05:37 thou shalt not learn to do 05:39 after the abominations of those nations. 05:42 There shall not be found among you any one 05:44 that maketh his son or his daughter 05:46 to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, 05:50 an observer of the times, 05:52 or an enchanter, or a witch. 05:55 Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, 05:58 or a wizard, or a necromancer." 06:01 So he warns them 06:03 that when they got into this pagan lands 06:05 that there would be all kinds of spiritism, 06:07 all kinds of the occult phenomena, 06:09 but he says, don't be over come by it, 06:11 don't be deceive by it. 06:12 And he was trying to protect the people of God, 06:15 trying to protect the remnant there Israel of God, 06:18 trying to keep them through this great perception. 06:22 And God wants to keep us 06:23 in these final days from that great deception. 06:26 "For all that do these things 06:28 are an abomination unto the Lord 06:30 and because of these abominations of Lord 06:32 thy God doth drive them out from before thee." 06:35 God will drive them out, He says. 06:37 Because why? 06:38 There are in abomination to the Lord. 06:41 Now prophecy tells us 06:43 that Satan is going to counterfeit, 06:46 not only in a secular world, but in the religious world 06:49 and you and I need to know the truth. 06:51 You and I need to know what the Bible says 06:54 because the only answer against this is 06:56 what does the Word of God say, 06:57 what does the Bible really teach about it? 06:59 And that's what we want to know tonight. 07:01 What happens to a man five minutes after death? 07:04 Are there such a thing as zombies, haunted houses, 07:07 return of loved ones to their houses? 07:10 I mean, in fact, Revelation 16 warns us 07:13 as a counterfeit these occult phenomena. 07:17 John the Revelator tells us the final battle 07:20 is for your soul, friend. 07:21 The final battle is for your soul. 07:24 It's a cosmic battle that's going on, 07:27 but it's also a personal battle that's going on, 07:30 it's a personal battle for your soul to deceive you, 07:33 to capture you and to bring you down to death. 07:37 So there's cosmic battle, cosmic forces 07:40 and it's a force against your soul. 07:43 Now they call-- in the Revelation, 07:46 they called the spirit of devils, 07:49 the spirit of devils 07:51 and they are final actors in the final battle. 07:53 Just who are these spirits or what are these spirits 07:57 that plays such an important role 07:59 in the final days of earth's history? 08:01 According to the Apostle John, 08:03 according to what God showed him on Patmos 08:06 who received the vision, they are the dark, 08:08 they from the dark side, they are the spirits of devils 08:11 used by Satan to deceive the nations 08:14 and bring governments to unite furthering his cause. 08:20 The most powerful occult movement 08:23 since the beginning of time, 08:25 UFO'ers and Spiritualists 08:27 and Witches and Warlocks and The Craft, 08:29 I mean, everywhere we turn. 08:31 Every time we turn a channel 08:33 we're being influenced by the occult world. 08:36 We're being influenced by this satanic deception. 08:41 Spiritualism and all of this. 08:45 And I could tell you more. 08:48 The Daughters of the Moon, the witch series of Disney, 08:51 The Craft, 1996, 08:53 Witches of Eastwick, 1987 then came the Sweep, 08:58 the most gruesome of all. 09:00 UFO'ers, Star Wars, Return of the Jedi, 09:02 Independence Day, The Empire Strikes Back. 09:04 I could go on and on and on, 09:06 all speaking about the occult world, 09:08 trying to influence you. 09:11 In fact, Hollywood's pipeline is full of these phenomena 09:14 and then came Harry Potter series. 09:18 Wow. Just think about it. 09:20 I mean, after death communication, 09:23 after ADC experience, after all reincarnation, 09:26 after scientology, after all of these 09:29 then comes the Harry Potter series. 09:33 J.K. Rowling living in her car got the idea 09:38 and she wrote a series, Harry Potter. 09:41 It's about wicker. 09:44 The wicker tales. 09:45 Innocent enough, 09:47 yet it has captured the youth culture. 09:49 Wicker, the craft is growing rapidly among teenagers. 09:53 92.7 million in the first week 09:57 of the Harry Potter the Prisoner of Azkaban. 10:02 Think of it. 10:03 How many? 10:04 92.7 million people. 10:08 I wonder if that was-- 10:10 That many that turned up at church that week 10:15 or served the Lord that week. 10:18 Not surprising to me. 10:20 You see that no civilization can survive 10:24 when we talk about a strategy 10:27 and its 5,000 years old, 10:29 it goes back to the caladiums, 5,000 years. 10:33 And every civilization that were caught up 10:35 in this occult could not survive. 10:37 No civilization can survive occultism. 10:42 So we have to be aware. 10:43 We have to be prepared for this. 10:47 Not surprising, is it? 10:49 Not when you consider LA alone 10:51 has over 1,000 channels, City of L.A. 10:54 You see, the devil's first lie becomes his last lie. 10:58 The New Ages, 10:59 Shirley MacLaine book going within 11:01 where she propounds the idea of crystals and visualizations 11:05 and color therapy and color jewelry. 11:07 She's dusted off an ancient occult practice 11:10 and dressed in modern clothes. 11:11 Satan worship is real. 11:13 Ross Conklin spent 11:15 his final hours on the altar built to Satan 11:17 where he was beaten to death with chains. 11:22 Dean Baker, 21-years-old 11:24 was killing a helpless victim under the direction of Satan. 11:28 When he was arrested he said-- they asked him, 11:29 "Why did you do this?" 11:30 He says, "I get my orders from Satan." 11:34 Satan is real. 11:35 He's not dressed in a little red suit 11:37 with a pitch fork. 11:39 He's real. He's dangerous. 11:41 He wants to conquer this world. 11:43 He set out to conquer this world. 11:45 One-third of the heavenly host came with him 11:47 to conquer this world. 11:48 The demons that follow him. 11:52 It's real. 11:53 I was invited to go to Casper, Wyoming. 11:56 Now I got to admit that I am not a country boy 12:01 and I don't know if I told you this story before, 12:03 but I am gonna tell it again. 12:04 I am not a country boy. 12:05 My wife is from the country. I am from the city. 12:07 I get nervous in the country. 12:11 I don't like bugs. 12:14 I mean, I can walk through 12:15 any neighborhood, dangerous neighbor. 12:16 I worked in East L.A., 12:18 I worked down in San Bernardino, 12:20 I worked down in the barrios of L.A. 12:22 Listen to me, but nothing like Casper, Wyoming. 12:26 And they put me out on a ranch in Casper, Wyoming. 12:29 Can you imagine? 12:30 Out on a ranch 12:31 and they put me in a little trailer. 12:35 It wasn't-- no one could really live in it, 12:37 but you know, it was good enough for visiting evangelist. 12:40 Anyway, they put us out there. 12:42 I remember I drove out 12:44 and I could hear the coyotes on the hills. 12:47 I mean, and so I sent my wife to the trailer 12:53 and she got to the trailer and she says, 12:54 "it's okay, honey." 12:56 And zoom, I dashed across it. 12:59 You know, I was very nervous about this. 13:01 Casper, Wyoming, 13:02 I mean, I hope there's no one from Casper, 13:04 but there isn't a tree between Casper and California. 13:07 I mean, this is wilderness. 13:11 Behind Casper, 13:12 there's a beautiful mountain with trees, 13:14 but I mean, looking west, going west, young man. 13:18 And so there I was, I stood up to speak 13:19 in this auditorium there in a ballroom 13:23 in a motel there in Casper, Wyoming. 13:25 And after the first night a woman came up to me. 13:27 She had all the occult jewelry 13:30 and she shook my hand, she said, 13:31 "You know, the devil, the devil is powerful." 13:36 I said, "Well, that's true. 13:38 But he that is in me is more powerful 13:39 than he that's in the world." 13:40 Amen. 13:42 Amen. 13:43 And she kind of with that walked away. 13:48 And so I kept shaking the hands of people, 13:50 got in the car, drove out to the ranch, 13:52 sent my wife to the trailer and it was safe 13:57 and made my way across and I was sitting there, 14:01 trying to relax a little, 14:02 you know, after an evening speaking on prophecy 14:05 and knock at the door and one of the usher said, 14:08 "You've got to get back to the hall, 14:10 there's a great problem." 14:12 I knew right away this woman. 14:15 And so I said, "Honey, quick, get to the car." 14:18 She got to the car. It was safe. 14:19 I ran around and got to the car 14:21 and she drove me in and we stopped 14:24 and I said, "Honey, pray." 14:25 And there was two cars 14:26 in the parking lot at that time. 14:28 Everybody had gone home. 14:31 The one was the preacher's car 14:32 and the other one was this woman's car. 14:34 I walked over to the car and I leaned in. 14:38 The pastor was standing by the hood of the car 14:42 and I came up and the window was down, 14:44 the woman was sitting looking at me 14:45 and I leaned over and she hissed like a snake 14:48 and tried to scratch my eyes out. 14:50 Well, let me tell you this. 14:52 I am not a demon chaser. 14:54 I don't have the gift. 14:57 So if you need someone to chase 14:58 the demon here in Charlotte 15:00 I've got two or three pastors I'd like to introduce you to. 15:05 So I am not a demon chaser, but you're confronted. 15:08 I mean, here I was leaning in the car 15:11 and like a snake, hissing like snake 15:13 and trying to scratch my eyes. 15:15 And then she levitated across the car 15:17 and then came back and her mouth opened. 15:19 I can't describe it like rubber 15:21 and she-- a voice, a melodious voice came out 15:24 and said, "Before this night is over, 15:26 your boy Ronnie and your girl Dian 15:28 will be dead." 15:30 I had never mentioned the names of my children in that city. 15:34 In fact, there were back in Lincoln, Nebraska. 15:37 My boy was a freshman at college, 15:39 a sophomore at college 15:40 and my daughter was a senior at the academy, 15:43 spiritual vice-president of her school. 15:46 And we could go away for six weeks 15:48 and leave them alone 15:49 and not have to worry about them. 15:51 Because you see you can-- 15:53 you can't isolate your children. 15:56 You've got to insolate your children. 15:58 You've got to lead them to the gospel, 16:01 lead them to Christ and lead them to salvation 16:04 and then you don't have to worry about them. 16:06 Way probably you try to give them religion 16:11 and you think that will protect them. 16:14 But anyway I said, 16:16 "Satan, you have no power over my children." 16:19 Well, she levitated cross came back in the voice again. 16:22 Before this night is over your boy Ronnie 16:24 and your girl Dian will be dead. 16:25 Now that's scary for any parent. 16:31 That's scary. 16:33 So I said you have no-- 16:34 and with that she drove fast out of the parking lot. 16:38 When the preacher got home his house had been robbed. 16:41 The next morning his house burst 16:43 in the flames caught on fire. 16:45 And so we knew I had to visit her 16:48 because I tried to visit as many 16:50 at that time as I could. 16:51 And so I said, "We're goanna go visit her." 16:54 And I knew it was a conflict with Satan 16:58 and so I said, "We need to go apart and pray." 17:00 My wife and the pastor and I went up 17:03 on to the mountain in the grove of trees. 17:05 We studied our Bible we prayed four hours with God. 17:10 We started driving back 17:11 and when we driving we had a flat tire. 17:12 That could happen to anybody. 17:15 Change the tire, drove a little further, 17:17 another flat tire. 17:19 Now we have two flat tires. 17:21 Jacked up the car, took the two tires, 17:22 ran to the garage, had the tires fixed, 17:25 came back, put them on the front 17:28 then we drove a little further, another flat. 17:30 Before we got to that house we had four flat tires 17:32 on brand new Michelin tires. 17:38 Can you imagine? 17:39 And when I got out of the car 17:43 my wife was there in the car. 17:44 When I went to the first door with the pastor, 17:47 knocked on the door and there was 17:49 one of the leaders of Satan and he was right there. 17:53 And I said to so and so live here. 17:54 I read the number over the door, 17:57 124 whatever it was, I had the card with me 18:00 and he said, "No, high priest of Satan's. 18:07 She's two houses down." 18:10 So I got in the car, we drove down. 18:12 My wife and I and the preacher went into that house. 18:18 She was a witch. 18:21 She said she was married to Satan. 18:22 She had altered to Satan. 18:26 She got a picture of baby there with little doves around it, 18:28 but I never saw any toys, 18:29 I never saw anything about a baby. 18:34 And she says, "You know, Satan is powerful." 18:37 I said, "But Jesus is more powerful." 18:40 And she said, "You should be dead." 18:42 You know, it's like Elijah. 18:45 I said, "No, I'm alive. 18:49 Because He is more powerful. 18:52 He is more powerful." 18:55 And she said, "We had a mass for your death 18:57 in the cemetery on Halloween night." 19:00 I discovered she was a witch. 19:02 And she was a third grade teacher 19:04 in the public school system. 19:07 I just spent a beautiful morning 19:09 in the Christian school right here, 19:12 in town right here. 19:13 I said, "Beautiful to go to a Christian school 19:16 and to see those children. 19:18 Loving God, listen to me." 19:21 And so we shared. 19:23 I tried to share Christ with her. 19:27 Two days later, I called my family. 19:29 I didn't want the devil think I was nervous about it. 19:34 So I called and when my Dian answered, 19:36 she says, "Daddy, you won't believe 19:37 what happened the other night." 19:40 I said, "What happened?" 19:42 She says, "Daddy--" She says, 19:45 "It's seemed like death fell on the house." 19:49 "Death? 19:50 A teenage girl, what do you know about death?" 19:52 She says, "Daddy, it was cold, it was frightening." 19:54 She said, "I couldn't explain 19:56 and it was like something was trying to get in the house. 19:58 The windows were raveling. 19:59 The doors and Ronnie grabbed the baseball bat." 20:02 My son, a baseball bat. 20:04 He's gonna beat Satan up with a baseball bat, 20:06 I guess, I don't know. 20:08 He is running around the house with the baseball bat. 20:12 She says, "Daddy, you won't believe 20:13 it was so terrible." 20:15 I said, "What time?" 20:16 The same time I was in that parking lot. 20:19 The very same hour, 20:20 the very same minutes I was there. 20:23 And she said, "It was like death, daddy." 20:25 I said, "What were you doing, honey?" 20:26 She says, "I was reading my Bible. 20:31 And I was reading in Joel word, 20:32 said the Sons of God came together 20:34 and Satan came also among them." 20:39 And then I told her the story and she was relieved to know. 20:43 I said, "Honey, you see, you have protection. 20:47 The blood of Jesus Christ, place the blood on your heart. 20:55 You have protection, put on the armor of God. 20:59 You have protection, give God praise." 21:02 Bible says, "If you give in praise, 21:04 the devil says, Oh, that man's not today. 21:05 I'm not going to get around him." 21:07 Kicks off. 21:09 I'm surprised religious people hate praise. 21:11 God help you. 21:13 He says, "Give Him praise from your lips. 21:17 Give Him praise from your lips." 21:19 But Satan is powerful. 21:20 This thing we are talking about tonight 21:22 is nothing to play with. 21:24 VG Board, it's nothing to play with. 21:26 Satanism, it's nothing to play with. 21:28 Witchcraft, nothing to play with. 21:30 Harry Potter, The Craft, nothing to play with. 21:33 Vicar, nothing to play with because the Bible says, 21:36 it will lead us to destruction. 21:38 The Bible says, 21:39 it will be the last great deception of the last days. 21:44 No civilization can survive occultism. 21:48 You see, the devil's first lie 21:51 became the lie of the last days. 21:54 And so Satan worship is real. 21:57 I've experienced again and again. 21:58 I have seen it at work and I warn you against it. 22:02 Let's look at this an intelligent approach. 22:04 Now they called Parapsychology, Hypnotism, 22:07 so he can control your mind, your thoughts. 22:11 Listen this, UFO'ers, Spiritism, 22:15 this mystic world, this world of spiritism, 22:19 the major doctrine of spiritism. 22:21 Listen to me, it's scary. 22:23 There are two organizations of spiritism in America. 22:26 One is the National Association of Spiritualistic Churches 22:29 and the Universal Church of the Master, 22:32 and that was founded in 1909 in Los Angeles. 22:34 The central form of spiritualism 22:36 is centered upon séances. 22:39 Now I want you to follow me closely tonight. 22:42 There are six séances. 22:45 There are six séances in spiritism. 22:48 First of all, there is Passivity. 22:51 In Passivity, they blat out all conscious thought 22:54 and open themselves to the control of spirit. 22:58 Secondly, Vocal Reality. 23:00 Voices from the past. 23:01 I want to tell you something, the Bible teaches you, 23:04 you can't ever believe what you hear. 23:06 I heard from my grandfather who died the other day. 23:09 That was not the voice of your grandfather. 23:11 I'm gonna show you that from the Bible. 23:12 That was voice of the demons from hell itself. 23:17 The voices come to the séance the voice of the parted, 23:21 so called the parted loved ones. 23:23 And then comes Trumpet Revelations, 23:25 and that's when the voice comes, 23:27 the trumpet floats through the air, 23:29 literally floats through the air. 23:31 And the voice comes out of the trumpet. 23:33 And then there comes Lights, red light represent something, 23:37 the green lights represent something 23:38 and the spirits of spiritualism know, 23:41 the spiritualists knows what they represent 23:44 and they see these color lights floating in the dark room. 23:48 Then there's transfiguration. 23:50 Transfiguration, a form of a loved one. 23:54 I had a woman sitting with me 23:55 and I was studying the Bible with her. 23:56 She says, "No, Ron Halvorsen." 23:58 I said, "Well, that's what the Bible says." 23:59 "No, Ron Halverson," I saw my husband. 24:02 He dressed in the same suit. 24:03 He wore the same hat. 24:05 I knew it was my husband." 24:07 You won't be able to believe your eyes. 24:09 You won't be able to believe your ears. 24:11 The only thing you'll be able to believe in 24:13 is thus saith the Lord. 24:16 The only solution you have is, thus saith the Lord. 24:19 The only argument you have thus saith the Lord, 24:23 that's your argument. 24:24 It's the Word of God. 24:25 You need to believe the Word of God 24:26 before you believe the mysterious, the magical. 24:31 You need to believe the Word of God. 24:36 And sixthly, Levitation 24:39 where the body leaves the earth. 24:43 Now it's important we understand 24:45 how Satan uses these signs 24:47 and wonders to deceive through modern theology. 24:51 It doesn't only creep into the séance. 24:53 This theology has crept even into the church. 24:59 Now there are two important texts 25:00 I want to share with you. 25:02 First of all, I want to share with you Leviticus 19:31. 25:06 Now this is God speaking through His word. 25:09 "Regard not them that have familiar spirits, 25:12 neither seek after wizards, to be defiled by them, 25:16 for I am the Lord your God." 25:18 Listen to the word, Isaiah 8:19, 20. 25:22 "And when they shall say unto you, 25:23 seek unto them that have familiar spirits, 25:25 and wizards that peep, and that mutter, 25:28 should not a people seek unto their God? 25:31 For the living to the dead?" 25:34 And then, "To the law and to the testimony, 25:36 if they speak not according to this word, 25:38 it's because there is no light in them." 25:41 He's saying, it's the law 25:42 and the testimony, the Word of God. 25:44 If it is in the Word of God, there is no light in it. 25:51 But, Brother Halverson, it's so real. 25:53 No light in it. 25:56 No light in it. 25:59 The law and testimony. 26:01 If we do away with the Lord of God 26:03 and the testimony of Jesus Christ, 26:05 we're a lost race, we're a lost nation. 26:08 If we do away with the testimony of Jesus, 26:10 we're gonna fall into the trap of deception, 26:14 of the antichrist in the last days. 26:16 If Christians only knew where this antinomianism 26:19 has come from against the law, 26:22 preaching against the law, talking against the law, 26:25 telling you not to worry about the law 26:27 and then worrying if they take the law 26:29 out of the government building, 26:30 that's insanity 26:33 trying to do away with the law 26:34 and yet in your church, 26:36 but not do away with the law 26:37 in the government building. 26:39 If the law is good enough for government, 26:40 it should be good enough for church. 26:43 And he says the law 26:45 and he says the testimony of Jesus. 26:47 So there it is the Ten Commandment Law, 26:49 the law of Jesus and the Testimony 26:51 of Jesus Christ. 26:53 The only test against signs and wonders and miracles, 26:56 marvelous works in the name of Jesus 26:58 is according to the law and the testimony. 27:00 It's not how high you jump from 27:03 but it's how straight you walk. 27:06 It's not how high you jump, but how straight you walk. 27:11 And it's to the law and to the testimony. 27:14 The law and to the testimony. 27:16 You see, friend, 27:18 here's the premises spiritualism, 27:20 its antichrist, it's against all the Christ stands for. 27:23 And there is anti-Bible. 27:26 Listen to this 1 Timothy, 27:27 "Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, 27:30 that in the latter times 27:32 some shall depart from the faith" 27:33 It's a belief of leaving faith. Why? 27:35 "Giving heed to seducing spirits, 27:38 and doctrines of devils." 27:40 He says they'll turn away from the truth 27:42 for the doctrine of devils. 27:44 He says they'll turn away from Jesus 27:46 and give heed to seducing, to seducing spirits. 27:50 Look at Genesis. 27:51 Let's look here at Genesis Chapter 3. 27:54 He says, "Now the serpent was more subtle 27:56 than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. 27:59 And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said." 28:02 Now you know that's the struggle there 28:04 in the Garden of Eden. 28:06 You see, there's two trees. 28:08 There's a tree of life 28:09 and there's a tree of knowledge of good and evil. 28:12 Both trees were not evil, but one was a test. 28:16 The great problem with man, 28:17 you see, they take you the tree of knowledge of good and evil 28:19 before they take you the Tree of Life. 28:24 They try to deal with the tree of knowledge of good and evil 28:26 before they dealt with their own heart 28:27 and their own soul. 28:30 And now the serpent is subtle and he says that a woman, 28:34 "Yea, hath God said." 28:37 And notice, "Ye shall not eat 28:38 of every tree of the garden? 28:40 And the woman said unto the serpent, 28:41 we may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden." 28:44 But the fruit that is in the midst of the garden, 28:46 God said, "Ye shall not eat of it, 28:49 neither shall you touch it, lest he died. 28:52 For God doth know that in that day, 28:55 the day you eat there off, your eyes shall be open, 28:58 you shall be as gods knowing good and evil." 29:01 That was the temptation. 29:02 Wasn't that the temptation of Lucifer in heaven? 29:05 Wanted to be like God. 29:07 Exalt his throne above the Son of God 29:09 and he was cast out. 29:10 He was cast out. He was cast out to this earth. 29:14 It wasn't kind of snake like we see today, 29:16 it had wings it was beautiful. 29:18 The beautiful creature 29:19 and then speaks and Eve moves over. 29:21 And by the way Adam wasn't too far away. 29:25 Well, as soon as she ate she offered him 29:27 must have been that close. 29:30 So men don't feel too comfortable about it. 29:35 Yeah, don't feel too comfortable about it. 29:38 You are right with that? 29:40 Anyway, the serpent, does God say, does God mean it? 29:43 And that by the way, is the greatest temptation 29:46 for you as a Christian 29:47 as you're searching for the truth. 29:49 Does God say that? 29:50 Does He really mean that? 29:51 I mean He's really serious about that? 29:53 I mean, really, is God that particular? 29:57 Don't you see it's the same temptation? 30:00 But if He says that He is. 30:03 And that was-- and you see, 30:04 what it was, you're not dying, that's immortality. 30:08 You see, you have immortality, 30:10 but the Bible teaches us 30:11 she had conditional immortality, 30:14 conditioned upon her, 30:15 obedience and upon her love, 30:17 and when she sinned against God, 30:19 the wages of sin is death. 30:21 You can't possess immortality and die at the same time. 30:30 And that's the theology of the dark side. 30:32 By the way, it became 30:33 the leading doctrine of paganism. 30:36 The philosophies, the Greek philosophies 30:39 that something lives on and floats off 30:41 and flits off and to a special place 30:45 and then some got a hold of it 30:47 and heath and it's got a hold of it, 30:48 then Romanism got a hold of it 30:50 and soon the church got a hold of it 30:52 and they kind of perfected it a little. 30:54 Immortality of the soul. 30:56 Listen, there are six reasons I rejected. 30:58 First, because the dead cannot be called up. 31:01 Where did you get that? 31:02 Well, I get it from the Bible. 31:04 The Bible says. 31:05 "As the cloud is consumed and vanisheth away, 31:08 so he that goeth down to the grave 31:10 shall come up no more. 31:12 He shall return no more to his house, 31:14 neither shall his place know him any more." 31:16 Bible says that dead who died there 31:19 will not come home to be with you. 31:24 That's clear. 31:26 I didn't say it, Job said it. 31:28 So don't get mad at me, get made at Job. 31:31 It's one thing I'm covering my basis. 31:33 Listen, tonight I'm covering my basis. 31:36 And so he said that, 31:39 "So man lieth down, rises not, till the heavens be no more, 31:42 they shall not awake, 31:43 nor be raised out of their sleep. 31:45 O that thou wouldest hide me in the grave," 31:48 he goes on to say, 31:50 "that thou wouldest keep me secret, 31:51 until your wrath be past, 31:53 that thou wouldest appoint me a set time, 31:56 and remember me!" 31:57 The dead do not come back to the house. 31:59 Secondly, because the dead do not have 32:02 any superior knowledge. 32:04 The Bible tells me this word, "Put not your trust in princes, 32:07 nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help. 32:09 His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth, 32:12 in that very day his thoughts," what? 32:14 "Perish." 32:15 Now, listen to me friend, you've heard it. 32:17 He's just passed over. 32:21 He has no superior knowledge. 32:24 The Bible says at that moment, his knowledge, what? 32:28 Seizes. 32:29 Now that's what the Bible says. 32:31 "For the living know that they shall die, 32:33 but the dead know not any thing, 32:37 neither have they any more a reward, 32:40 for the memory of them is" what? 32:42 "Forgotten." 32:43 Wow! That's clear, isn't it? 32:45 "Also their love, and their hatred, 32:48 and their envy, is now perished," What? 32:51 Now perished. 32:52 "Neither have they any more a portion 32:55 for ever in any thing that is done under the sun." 32:58 He is not coming back to meet with you. 33:01 The Bible says that clear. 33:02 And who would know better than He 33:03 who was the resurrection in life, amen. 33:05 Then He who is the resurrection and the life. 33:08 Let's go on, let's look at this. 33:10 I reject Spiritism, Satanism, and the Occultism 33:13 and Wicca because the dead are in the grave 33:16 and not in a spirit world. 33:18 Let's look at the Bible and see what the Bible says. 33:21 Notice, "In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, 33:25 at the last trump, for the trumpet shall sound, 33:28 and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, 33:32 and we shall be changed." 33:34 Wow. 33:35 Well, hey tomorrow night I'm gonna-- 33:37 this is part two. 33:38 What happens five minutes after you die? 33:39 What the Bible really teaches? 33:42 So He says what? 33:43 He says a moment you're gonna be raised up. 33:45 Think about this tonight 33:46 so get you prepared for tomorrow night. 33:49 Why if you are in heaven would He put your back 33:50 in the grave just to pick you up 33:52 and bring you back to heaven? 33:56 Come on. 34:01 Let's look at the Word of God. Don't take my word. 34:04 "And so when this corruptible shall put on incorruption, 34:06 and the mortal shall put on immortality," 34:08 putting it on, 34:10 "then shall be brought to pass the saying is written, 34:12 Death is swallowed up in victory." 34:15 Oh, death, where is thy stint? 34:17 Oh, grave, where is thy victory? 34:19 Then in 1 Thessalonians, he says this, 34:22 "The Lord shall descend from heaven with a shout, 34:24 the voice of the archangel, the trump of God, 34:26 and the deadi n Christ shall rise first. 34:30 Then we which are alive and remain 34:32 shall be caught up together with them in the cloud, 34:35 to meet the Lord in the air, 34:36 so shall we ever be with the Lord." 34:39 So we're gonna go to heaven together. 34:42 I hope I'm in Brooklyn. 34:46 And my mom and dad come up 34:47 and my grandmother, great Christian. 34:51 Just wonderful sweet spiritual Christian that loved God 34:55 and we're gonna be caught up together 34:57 to meet Him in the cloud. 34:59 "These things said he, 35:00 and after this he said unto them, 35:01 our friend Lazarus" what? 35:02 "Sleepeth." 35:03 Every time Jesus talks about death, 35:05 He doesn't talk about death being in another realm, 35:08 He talks about death being sleep. 35:10 He says I'm going to wake him up. 35:12 What did He do? 35:13 Pull them out of the grave. 35:14 I mean, pull them out of the heaven, 35:15 put them back in the grave, stinking body, 35:17 call them back up again to live a few more years. 35:20 Give me a break. 35:21 Once I'm in heaven, you can't get me out. 35:30 Can't get me out. 35:32 Listen, I reject Spiritism, Satanism, Occultism, Wicca 35:36 because it breaks up the unity of the Bible. 35:38 Listen to me, here is the unity of the Bible. 35:41 This is it. 35:43 Death, resurrection, reward. 35:47 Death, resurrection, reward, 35:49 it breaks up the unity of the Bible 35:52 and I reject spiritism, I reject occultism 35:55 because it breaks up that unity. 35:58 I tell you it breaks up the unity of Bible 36:01 and Jesus said, 36:02 "I am the resurrection and the life." 36:04 And Jesus is the resurrection and He is the life. 36:10 Fifthly, because it finds its root 36:13 in embodiment of Satan. 36:15 Follow me, please. 36:17 Notice the Word of God. 36:18 "And he doeth great wonders, 36:20 so that he make a fire to come down 36:22 from heaven on the earth in the sight of men." 36:24 Now He's performing these great miracles. 36:27 We people always fascinated by the miracles. 36:31 And the greatest miracle is God working on your heart. 36:35 The greatest miracle is changing your life 36:38 and you want to see and you follow them 36:40 as long as they perform the miracle. 36:42 And that's what happened, the 5,000 when He fed them, 36:44 they followed Him. 36:46 I mean, the people that saw Jesus walk on, 36:48 they followed Him. 36:50 When the miracles happen, they followed Him, 36:52 but when it seized and He the greatest miracle 36:55 hung upon the cross performing the greatest miracle, 36:58 they turned and walked away from Him. 37:03 Because they are fascinated by the fire that comes down 37:08 and by the miracles. 37:11 It says that He doeth in the sight of man. 37:14 I reject Spiritism, Occultism, Satanism 37:18 because it's rooted in deception. 37:21 The devil seeks to confuse us, 37:24 to deceive us and then to destroy us. 37:27 That's the way he works and in the last days 37:30 that is the way he is going to work. 37:32 You better get into this book. 37:33 Do you hear me? 37:34 You better get serious about this book. 37:37 Don't depend on your preacher. 37:38 Don't depend on your parents. 37:40 Don't depend on anybody. 37:42 Put your eyes to see and your ears to hear 37:44 and your heart to respond to what God says in His book. 37:50 In His book. 37:52 Listen to this, F.F. Morse, 37:56 "The phenomenal aspect of modern spiritualism 37:59 reproduces all the essential principles of" what? 38:02 "Magic, witchcraft and sorcery of the past. 38:05 The same powers are involved, 38:07 the same intelligences operating." 38:09 And what did God say to Israel? 38:11 He said, "Stay away from those heathen practices." 38:14 Listen to me, don't play with it. 38:17 Don't get it. 38:18 Your future is not in the stars. 38:20 Your future is in the God who made the stars. 38:27 So put your faith and trust in the God 38:30 and the God that we love and serve. 38:33 Listen to the Bible, the Word of God. 38:35 "For there shall arise false Christs, 38:37 and false prophets, and shall show great signs 38:39 and great wonders, 38:41 in so much that, if it were possible, 38:42 they shall deceive the very elect." 38:44 Well, why? 38:45 When that miracle happens on the stage, 38:48 when that miracle happens, we all fascinated by it, 38:50 but listen, test it. 38:54 If it speaks not according to the law 38:56 and to the testimony, there is no light in it. 39:02 That's why by the way, many of those miracle workers 39:05 wind up in some house of prostitution. 39:09 That's a fact. 39:10 That's why they-- because they are going on signs 39:12 and wonders and trying to draw the crowd by sign 39:15 and the greatest sign is a changed life 39:18 and a living for Jesus Christ and holiness. 39:21 That is the greatest sign. 39:24 Greatest sign. 39:26 Well, he says, watch out for unclean spirits, 39:28 beware of the powers of darkness. 39:30 He says watch out for those fallen angels 39:32 that masquerade themselves. 39:34 Listen, and that's it, 39:37 then why should the major doctrine in theology 39:39 and teaching of spiritism 39:41 have impacted the theology of Christianity? 39:44 Why should the first lie be perpetuated from the pulpit? 39:51 The obvious answer is deception 39:55 and the counterfeit has been used to its fullest. 39:58 And then the dark ages we're going to see 40:00 when I talk about the antichrist. 40:02 I talk about the beast of Revel-- 40:03 Hey, we're getting into things these next few weeks. 40:06 Only the strong are going to be able to handle. 40:10 Only the pilgrim will be able to handle. 40:15 Beware of the deception, beware. 40:19 Deception and counterfeit. 40:21 I've studied the cults of the dead, 40:23 and the claims of the masters of the east 40:24 with their long wharf shoots 40:26 and I found there's no master plan, 40:30 but it's a master plan of Satan himself. 40:32 He is preparing for a takeover. 40:34 When he will come in the very image of Christ, 40:37 so that they will say, ah, there is Christ 40:39 and Jesus said and warned us in Matthew, 40:41 if they say he is here, don't believe it. 40:43 Say he is here, don't believe it. 40:45 When He comes in glory and every eye shall see Him 40:47 then you can believe it. 40:51 Then you can believe it. 40:53 That's the power of God's word. 40:55 Listen, that's the power of God's word 40:57 and that's what He says here, false prophets and all. 41:02 Now there are three ways that Satan controls you. 41:04 First of all, depression. 41:06 Don't you let depression get hold of you. 41:09 'Cause when you let depression get hold, 41:10 I told my wife today 41:11 I take two pills all day optimism pills. 41:15 That's prayer in the morning and prayer in the evening. 41:17 Amen. Amen. 41:23 Prayer in the morning and prayer in the evening. 41:25 Don't you get the-- 41:26 why should you be depressed your child of God. 41:29 Why should you be depressed you're on your way to heaven. 41:32 Why should you be depressed, 41:34 God will provide for you 41:36 if you have the faith to believe. 41:39 Why should you be depressed? 41:43 Secondly, depression leads to obsession. 41:49 Don't become obsessed 41:52 by your depression or obsessed with your sin. 41:55 Don't let that sin 41:56 become an oppression or obsession with you 42:00 because there's three steps to demon control. 42:04 There's three steps to the devils control. 42:07 Depression, obsession 42:10 and finally, possession. 42:13 Possession. 42:15 Let me tell you, the sophistries of Satan, 42:18 I'm gonna talk about it tomorrow. 42:19 The theology of Satan. 42:21 What happens five minutes after you die, 42:22 you can't miss it. 42:24 But listen to me carefully, will you? 42:26 Be prepared. 42:27 How? How can I be prepared? 42:29 Study the Bible every day. 42:32 Read your Bible every day. 42:33 You say, well, Pastor Halvorsen, I don't understand it. 42:36 That's all right, just keep reading 42:37 and some day you will. 42:39 Hey, the first time I ever preached just as-- 42:42 I mean, I just have been saved and I want to share faith 42:44 and I'm preaching on street corners in New York 42:47 and everywhere and they finally invited me 42:49 to Church to give my testimony 42:50 and then I held a meeting called Evangelistic Meeting 42:53 in a bookie joint in Brooklyn. 42:56 That was my hall a bookie joint. 42:58 Come a long way, baby, bookie joint. 43:01 And I preached on David in the Lion's Den. 43:09 David in the Lion's Den. 43:13 But I preach with such enthusiasm 43:14 they thought the Bible had been written wrong 43:16 in my neighborhood. 43:18 Hey, David never got near. 43:20 I didn't know much about it, but I knew one thing, 43:22 I would keep learning and learning 43:24 and learning and learning 43:26 and until I won, I'm going to learn 43:28 and learn and learn until He comes 43:30 and then when I get to heaven I'm gonna learn 43:31 and learn and learn and learn and have a good time 43:34 of studying with you people. 43:38 Can you imagine studying Revelation with John, 43:44 or the epistles with Paul? 43:46 And I can't wait to get to Romans with Paul. 43:49 I have a few things to question him about. 43:52 Isn't it gonna be wonderful? 43:53 Hey, listen to me. 43:55 Listen. 43:56 Pray and secondly, pray everyday. 43:59 You don't have to be holy to pray, 44:00 you don't have to be good to pray, just pray. 44:04 Just pray. 44:05 Thirdly, share your faith. 44:07 My friend, share your faith. 44:09 You have a great opportunity 44:10 during these weeks to invite somebody. 44:13 Witness for Jesus Christ in your life, in your deeds, 44:17 in your words, only hope listen to Jesus Christ. 44:22 I am the resurrection and the life. 44:26 Demonism is real. 44:28 I was in New York, I was teaching a seminary, 44:30 of course on evangelism. 44:32 I was holding a series of meetings off Broadway, 44:34 I ran an evangelistic center in New York 44:36 just to off Broadway on 46th street. 44:40 And I was preaching one night, 44:41 a woman came up to me she said, 44:42 "I wish you'd go see my daughter. 44:43 She's a wreck. 44:44 She's laying in a fetal position in the living room, 44:48 hasn't moved for three weeks throwing up, 44:50 doing everything there and screaming 44:52 at the top of the lungs." 44:54 So I took two seminary students with me 44:56 the one's that were more skeptical. 44:58 Got on the subway went out, 44:59 got to the apartment, knocked on the door. 45:01 When I got to the apartment door 45:02 I could hear this terrible screech. 45:05 It was frightening. 45:07 And so the mother answered and I walked in 45:08 and there was this poor little pitiful thing, 45:10 21-years-old in a fetal position, 45:13 screaming at the top of her lung 45:15 and it was a terrible scene. 45:17 I knelt beside her, I took the oil 45:19 and anointed in the name of Jesus Christ 45:20 and when that happened, listen to me, friend, 45:22 her mouth opened and there came screeching out 45:25 a demon bouncing off the walls, cupboards full opened. 45:28 Hey, I don't chase demons. 45:33 The cupboards-- dishes flying everywhere. 45:35 But when I anointed that girl in the name of Jesus Christ, 45:39 there is not a demon in hell that can capture her. 45:42 There is not a demon in hell that can hold her 45:45 because Jesus Christ sets us free. 45:50 In that moment, a smile came to her face 45:56 and we rejoiced in God. 45:58 She got up. 46:00 I said, "I'll see you tomorrow night in our meeting." 46:02 She came in, beautiful young girl 46:04 gave her heart to God. 46:06 We baptized her in the name of the Father, Son 46:08 and Holy Spirit, the name of Jesus. 46:10 And she came forth 46:11 and she became a disciple of Christ, 46:13 a servant of Jesus Christ. 46:16 The devil is real, but God is more powerful. 46:22 And so we want to serve, 46:23 we want to serve the Lord Jesus Christ. 46:26 We want to serve Him. 46:27 And it was standing before the grave 46:29 there is no hope outside of Jesus. 46:31 A husband and wife have no hope without Jesus. 46:34 And so we need to have hope 46:35 and that hope is in Jesus Christ 46:37 and we can find that hope in Jesus today 46:40 because this Jesus said, 46:42 "I go to prepare a place for you. 46:44 I will come again and receive you unto Myself 46:46 that where I am there you may be also." 46:49 I mean, He made a promise to us 46:50 and He is going to fulfill that promise 46:52 and He's gonna fulfill that promise on time. 46:54 When you see these things happen 46:56 then lift up your head, look up 46:58 because your redemption draweth near. 47:01 Where are you looking tonight? 47:03 Are you looking up or you're looking down? 47:09 Cheer up. 47:11 Christ is the answer. God bless you. 47:51 And now another Bible question. 47:53 "In considering the subject of baptism 47:55 it seems to be that having being baptized 47:58 as an infant is good enough for me. 48:01 Why should I feel otherwise?" 48:03 Okay. 48:05 Let me read a verse to you. 48:07 Why should I feel otherwise? 48:09 All right. 48:10 Infant baptism. I was baptized as an infant. 48:12 Well, actually not baptized because the word baptize, 48:15 you know what it means? 48:16 It means to immerse, immerse completely. 48:19 When I was an infant I had some water sprinkled on my head. 48:21 I wasn't baptized, I was sprinkled 48:24 or christened as we used to say. 48:30 Let's look at this. 48:32 Matthew 3:13, 48:36 "Then Jesus came from Galilee to Jordan," 48:41 we're not talking about the country of Jordan, 48:44 "unto John to be baptized of him." 48:48 Jesus went to the River Jordan to be baptized. 48:53 He gave you an example. 48:55 Just a few verses later the Father said, 48:57 "This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased." 49:01 Jesus' baptism pleased our Heavenly Father. 49:06 Now you might say, "it seems to me." 49:13 Allow me to take the opportunity 49:14 to use that expression 49:16 as a way to explain how Christianity works. 49:19 You know, it might seem to you 49:22 like you're having another hot-fudge Sunday 49:25 would be a perfectly good idea. 49:27 But it might seem to your doctor that, 49:30 that's not so smart. 49:31 And when it comes to matters of good health 49:34 and I am speaking generally here, 49:36 your doctor probably has the best idea. 49:39 You understand? 49:40 When you were doing math in math class 49:43 it might have seemed to you 49:44 that the square root of 36 was 37 49:48 but it seemed to the math teacher 49:49 that the square root of 36 was 6 49:52 and in that situation best to go with the math teacher. 49:55 You understand? 49:56 So it might seem to you that infant baptism is okay 50:00 but the Bible has spoken 50:02 and God has made His will really clear. 50:07 Having said that, I need to add that love for God 50:13 must trump what seems right to you. 50:18 You understand that? 50:20 Love for God. 50:21 I hope you know what I am saying. 50:24 There are times in a relationship, 50:29 perhaps he wants to eat Mexican food, 50:35 she wants to eat Chinese food 50:39 and so it ought to be a competition really to see 50:41 who first can please the other one by saying, 50:43 it's not a deal breaker, it's not a big deal. 50:45 Hey, let's eat at your place. 50:46 No, let's eat at your place. 50:47 You know what I mean? 50:48 Sometimes you might have a preference 50:52 but love for somebody else 50:53 sees you sacrifice that preference 50:55 so you can demonstrate the love for that person. 50:58 About infant baptism, 50:59 think of what baptism represents. 51:01 Romans 6, "Know ye not, that so many of us 51:04 as were baptized into Jesus Christ 51:06 were baptized into His death." 51:09 This is verse 4 now, 51:10 "Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death, 51:14 that like as Christ was raised up from the dead 51:16 by the glory of the Father, 51:18 even so we also should walk in newness of life." 51:21 Verse 5, "If we have been planted together 51:24 in the likeness of his death, 51:25 we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection." 51:28 Verse 6, "Knowing this, 51:30 that our old man is crucified with him, 51:33 that the body of sin might be destroyed, 51:35 that henceforth we should not serve sin." 51:37 So, Paul in Romans 6:3 says, 51:41 baptize, 51:43 verse 4, buried, verse 5, planted. 51:47 You go under when you are buried, 51:49 under when you are planted. 51:50 Verse 6, crucified, put to death. 51:53 Sprinkling doesn't signify any of those things. 51:55 When you plant a seed, 51:57 you don't put it on the ground and sprinkle dirt over it. 52:00 When you bury-- oh, perished-- 52:03 you thought you buried somebody, 52:04 take grandpa to the cemetery and sprinkle dirt over him. 52:08 That's not gonna go down too well, is it?
