I have the privilege of
once again bringing to you
00:00:19.20\00:00:21.87
our offering in action segment.
00:00:21.90\00:00:24.80
This is a time when we can
hear from project recipients,
00:00:24.83\00:00:28.20
reports about how your gifts
00:00:28.23\00:00:30.20
and your
donations have been used
00:00:30.23\00:00:31.63
for their ministries to reach
the world for Jesus Christ.
00:00:31.66\00:00:35.45
You know, we are
really happy, Jim,
00:00:35.48\00:00:37.38
to be in partnership
with so many ministries
00:00:37.41\00:00:39.96
and so many initiatives
to be able to reach out
00:00:39.99\00:00:42.99
and we take this
really very seriously.
00:00:43.02\00:00:45.44
We monitor and review and assure
00:00:45.47\00:00:48.55
that the funding that
comes in, that the gifts
00:00:48.58\00:00:51.43
that you give are
used for the gifts
00:00:51.46\00:00:54.42
or for the projects I should say
00:00:54.45\00:00:55.95
that have been
approved for support.
00:00:55.98\00:00:59.06
So that's very important to us
00:00:59.09\00:01:01.01
and 3ABN as one of the
projects for this year,
00:01:01.04\00:01:04.89
we are very deeply appreciative
for being a partner with 3ABN.
00:01:04.92\00:01:09.51
Tell us what's going on.
00:01:09.54\00:01:10.57
Well, likewise because
our partnership began in 1984.
00:01:10.60\00:01:15.43
Danny Shelton went
to Big Sky, Montana.
00:01:15.46\00:01:18.89
And he was at the
ASI Convention there.
00:01:18.92\00:01:24.56
And you-- most of you
have heard the story before,
00:01:24.59\00:01:27.45
but he was not
supposed to speak,
00:01:27.48\00:01:29.67
and on Friday
there was an event plan
00:01:29.70\00:01:33.39
that we're going to go
up on the mountain side
00:01:33.42\00:01:35.77
and have a great time together,
00:01:35.80\00:01:37.52
and there came a
downpour of rain,
00:01:37.55\00:01:41.70
and so those that were
in charge came and said,
00:01:41.73\00:01:44.56
Danny would you
tell about your project.
00:01:44.59\00:01:46.72
Now they've already told
him he was not gonna have
00:01:46.75\00:01:48.99
an opportunity to tell about it,
00:01:49.02\00:01:51.23
and that is when he told
00:01:51.26\00:01:53.86
about his dream of
beginning a ministry
00:01:53.89\00:01:57.36
that would reach the world
with the Three Angels' Message.
00:01:57.39\00:02:01.30
By the way I want
to ask you a question.
00:02:01.33\00:02:02.97
How many of you
were there that day?
00:02:03.00\00:02:06.33
Let me see your hand.
00:02:06.36\00:02:07.53
It's just amazing to
see how 3ABN has grown
00:02:07.56\00:02:11.12
and with your growth
00:02:11.15\00:02:12.76
you've taken all
ministries with you.
00:02:12.79\00:02:15.21
Well, you know, it's a
very humbling thing for us
00:02:15.24\00:02:17.74
because we
don't-- we look at this
00:02:17.77\00:02:19.77
and we say praise the
Lord, this is what God has done.
00:02:19.80\00:02:23.34
This is what ASI has supported.
00:02:23.37\00:02:26.30
This is what the membership
and those who are believers
00:02:26.33\00:02:29.86
around the world have supported.
00:02:29.89\00:02:31.70
And the amazing thing is
that even though our base
00:02:31.73\00:02:35.09
is the Seventh-day
Adventist membership,
00:02:35.12\00:02:38.24
about 50% of our gifts now
come from those who are not
00:02:38.27\00:02:42.87
part of the Seventh-day
Adventist fellowship.
00:02:42.90\00:02:46.64
So and we hear from
people all over the world
00:02:46.67\00:02:50.43
that tell us, I believe
everything I hear on 3ABN.
00:02:50.46\00:02:56.06
I just don't live anywhere near
a Seventh-day Adventist church
00:02:56.09\00:02:59.87
and I live two
blocks from the church
00:02:59.90\00:03:01.98
where I was
confirmed or baptized
00:03:02.01\00:03:04.43
or whatever their
expression might be,
00:03:04.46\00:03:06.80
but I want you to
know, that I believe
00:03:06.83\00:03:09.28
and then they sent an offering
00:03:09.31\00:03:10.96
and we praise
God for those that--
00:03:10.99\00:03:14.07
we call them Closet Adventists.
00:03:14.10\00:03:16.77
Now I know 3ABN
has done a great job
00:03:16.80\00:03:19.16
at keeping pace with technology.
00:03:19.19\00:03:21.32
Tell us about some real
exciting things coming up?
00:03:21.35\00:03:23.93
Well, the real new
and right now is our app.
00:03:23.96\00:03:27.08
How many of you
have iPhones or iPads.
00:03:27.11\00:03:30.12
I want to see the
hands of those that are here.
00:03:30.15\00:03:32.99
Right now, you
can take that be sure
00:03:33.02\00:03:36.05
it's on vibrate,
but you can take that
00:03:36.08\00:03:41.04
and go to the app
store, if you push that
00:03:41.07\00:03:45.09
and when it goes to
search write in 3ABN
00:03:45.12\00:03:50.37
and then hit the
search, it will come up,
00:03:50.40\00:03:53.75
it will give an opportunity,
in fact Denzil McNeilus,
00:03:53.78\00:03:56.92
right you just did it
00:03:56.95\00:03:58.05
a few minutes
ago right back there.
00:03:58.08\00:04:00.27
And you hit that free
thing put in your password
00:04:00.30\00:04:05.00
and here it is, each
of the ministries of 3ABN
00:04:05.03\00:04:10.18
are right here
on this phone live.
00:04:10.21\00:04:13.61
You can watch
wherever you are, live.
00:04:13.64\00:04:17.97
Now, this is
something that cost money.
00:04:18.00\00:04:20.25
It's not free, but we felt
like that investing in this
00:04:20.28\00:04:24.69
was something you
would want us to do.
00:04:24.72\00:04:27.75
It's helping to reach
more people, wherever they are.
00:04:27.78\00:04:31.29
Jim, some of the
stories and testimonies
00:04:31.32\00:04:34.14
that we hear
from 3ABN are always
00:04:34.17\00:04:35.77
so riveting and inspiring.
00:04:35.80\00:04:37.74
Is there anything
that you can share with us?
00:04:37.77\00:04:39.13
You know, we are just
amazed by some of the things
00:04:39.16\00:04:43.29
that we do here.
00:04:43.32\00:04:45.41
One, recently a lady right
over here in New Port Richey,
00:04:45.44\00:04:49.65
she began
watching, and then she went
00:04:49.68\00:04:53.17
to the New Port Richey Church,
make contact with them there,
00:04:53.20\00:04:57.73
she was baptized.
00:04:57.76\00:04:59.67
I think the folks that studied
with her are here tonight.
00:04:59.70\00:05:03.88
She will be here tomorrow
00:05:03.91\00:05:05.86
and through the
rest of the time,
00:05:05.89\00:05:07.85
and you can read about her
in our 3ABN World Magazine.
00:05:07.88\00:05:12.30
It is a thrilling story.
00:05:12.33\00:05:14.93
And then another
individual recently
00:05:14.96\00:05:17.58
as I mentioned
some of these people
00:05:17.61\00:05:19.38
that are watching
but may be haven't yet,
00:05:19.41\00:05:21.82
he send us $100 and he said,
00:05:21.85\00:05:25.09
I live at least 75 miles
from any Adventist church.
00:05:25.12\00:05:28.45
He said, I'm not young,
00:05:28.48\00:05:30.06
I was baptized in
the Lutheran Church
00:05:30.09\00:05:32.66
he said just two
blocks from my house.
00:05:32.69\00:05:35.94
He said I will continue
going to the Lutheran Church,
00:05:35.97\00:05:39.00
but I believe 100% like
a Seventh-day Adventist.
00:05:39.03\00:05:43.77
And then he said I'm so
proud of the contributions
00:05:43.80\00:05:47.70
that Martin Luther made
to the Adventist theology.
00:05:47.73\00:05:50.73
And I was
impressed by that because
00:05:50.76\00:05:53.99
he's not only
involved financially,
00:05:54.02\00:05:56.47
but he's involved as far
as promoting our message,
00:05:56.50\00:06:00.60
even to those the
church where he goes,
00:06:00.63\00:06:02.74
he tells them the
truths about the Sabbath.
00:06:02.77\00:06:05.63
Oh, that is wonderful.
00:06:05.66\00:06:06.69
Jim, thank you so
much for sharing with us,
00:06:06.72\00:06:08.62
what's happening with 3ABN.
00:06:08.65\00:06:09.95
Thank you, ASI. Amen.
00:06:09.98\00:06:14.35
Coming to the
podium is James Hartley.
00:06:14.38\00:06:17.43
James Hartley is
the president of LIGHT
00:06:17.46\00:06:20.58
and he's gonna tell us
what LIGHT is an acronym,
00:06:20.61\00:06:23.32
what it stands for
and how it got started?
00:06:23.35\00:06:25.74
You know what,
James, I was just thinking,
00:06:25.77\00:06:27.19
seems like we were
just here yesterday.
00:06:27.22\00:06:28.99
I was talking with
you and you were sharing
00:06:29.02\00:06:30.56
a little bit about LIGHT.
00:06:30.59\00:06:31.71
Of course that was last year,
00:06:31.74\00:06:33.30
but many things
have happened since then.
00:06:33.33\00:06:35.39
First catch us
up, tell us little bit
00:06:35.42\00:06:37.26
about the fundamentals of LIGHT
00:06:37.29\00:06:39.18
and then we'll go
into little bit more.
00:06:39.21\00:06:40.39
Sure, thanks,
Debbie, for those that--
00:06:40.42\00:06:41.87
that haven't heard
or not aware LIGHT.
00:06:41.90\00:06:43.95
First stands for
the Lay Institute
00:06:43.98\00:06:45.28
for Global Health Training.
00:06:45.31\00:06:47.00
And we are a global
initiative for the training
00:06:47.03\00:06:49.96
and equipping of lay members
00:06:49.99\00:06:51.27
to be active
medical missionaries
00:06:51.30\00:06:53.40
in their local churches
and wherever God leads them.
00:06:53.43\00:06:56.47
We have a network now, a
growing network of 37 schools
00:06:56.50\00:07:01.19
that are on all main continents.
00:07:01.22\00:07:03.34
We haven't started--
00:07:03.37\00:07:04.40
we haven't been
in Antarctica yet,
00:07:04.43\00:07:05.70
but in all the other
continents we have trainees
00:07:05.73\00:07:08.13
'cause we want to see people
00:07:08.16\00:07:09.28
able to get
trained in their country,
00:07:09.31\00:07:11.09
and in their language.
00:07:11.12\00:07:12.39
So there is now 37 schools
00:07:12.42\00:07:13.73
that are conducting a 6
months training package,
00:07:13.76\00:07:16.07
that like we are
helping to create curriculum,
00:07:16.10\00:07:18.36
get it translated
in different languages,
00:07:18.39\00:07:19.81
send that out and
then all these 37 schools
00:07:19.84\00:07:22.47
that are producing hundreds
of graduates every year.
00:07:22.50\00:07:25.22
You know, in every six months,
00:07:25.25\00:07:27.13
we're giving them
opportunities for involvement.
00:07:27.16\00:07:29.80
We send them out in
teams of four and five
00:07:29.83\00:07:32.61
with one leader to do
short trainings often one month.
00:07:32.64\00:07:36.86
We've condensed our
six month course into
00:07:36.89\00:07:39.47
what we call the
essentials of health evangelism.
00:07:39.50\00:07:42.45
And so this
essentials of health evangelism
00:07:42.48\00:07:44.59
is about 140 hours
of training, and we--
00:07:44.62\00:07:48.23
our students
come in with our staff
00:07:48.26\00:07:50.41
and do like an
intensive church training
00:07:50.44\00:07:53.07
and this often revives
church, helps them to see
00:07:53.10\00:07:55.40
how they can get more
involved in their communities,
00:07:55.43\00:07:57.57
active in health
expos and door to door
00:07:57.60\00:07:59.90
and how to use-- you know,
how to use the health message
00:07:59.93\00:08:02.10
as an entering
wedge for the gospel.
00:08:02.13\00:08:04.17
How to make
friends and we teach them
00:08:04.20\00:08:05.64
how to set up health clubs, not,
00:08:05.67\00:08:07.58
not like a health club
that you would think of
00:08:07.61\00:08:09.28
where, you know,
like stereo master.
00:08:09.31\00:08:10.68
Where you work out in, okay.
00:08:10.71\00:08:11.84
Yeah, yeah, not
that sort of thing,
00:08:11.87\00:08:12.91
like a health club where people
come like on a regular basis,
00:08:12.94\00:08:16.79
monthly and just
have like a learn how to--
00:08:16.82\00:08:19.83
have a cooking
class, a health seminar,
00:08:19.86\00:08:22.37
you know, it's a fellowship
group from the community,
00:08:22.40\00:08:24.82
not necessarily
attached to a church
00:08:24.85\00:08:27.72
or you might have
an community center
00:08:27.75\00:08:29.44
and this provides
a really relax forum
00:08:29.47\00:08:31.71
for making friends with people.
00:08:31.74\00:08:33.28
And this is, you know,
this is a key to evangelism,
00:08:33.31\00:08:36.02
and so one you needs to
really get close with people,
00:08:36.05\00:08:38.53
make friends with them,
you know, a health expo,
00:08:38.56\00:08:40.81
you're not gonna build a
long lasting relationship
00:08:40.84\00:08:42.80
usually in health expo,
right, but that health expo
00:08:42.83\00:08:45.30
may lead you into a health club.
00:08:45.33\00:08:46.58
So we want to see, you know,
00:08:46.61\00:08:48.49
a movement of God's
people let you know,
00:08:48.52\00:08:50.79
really utilizing
the health message
00:08:50.82\00:08:53.36
like it's meant to
be used in soul winning
00:08:53.39\00:08:55.68
and so we're doing everything
00:08:55.71\00:08:56.74
we can to expand
this type of training.
00:08:56.77\00:08:59.72
Now you have some
pictures and I like you
00:08:59.75\00:09:01.48
to kind of walk us through
what those pictures represent
00:09:01.51\00:09:04.78
because it shares
with us a little bit about
00:09:04.81\00:09:07.02
what's happening
with the trainees?
00:09:07.05\00:09:08.74
Or what are they doing?
How are they using this?
00:09:08.77\00:09:10.60
A good friend of mine
Denzil McNeilus once said,
00:09:10.63\00:09:12.85
tools are only as
good as they are used.
00:09:12.88\00:09:15.52
And so, they are
not just trained,
00:09:15.55\00:09:16.96
but they're actually using this
00:09:16.99\00:09:18.23
training to go
out and reach people.
00:09:18.26\00:09:19.41
Tell us a little bit about
00:09:19.44\00:09:20.47
what we might see on the screen.
00:09:20.50\00:09:21.84
Okay, yeah, this is--
00:09:21.87\00:09:22.91
these are our most
recent graduates from the--
00:09:22.94\00:09:24.86
in the
Philippines, the Philippines,
00:09:24.89\00:09:26.30
this project here is
really our main core project
00:09:26.33\00:09:28.89
in South East Asia.
00:09:28.92\00:09:30.36
We just graduated 30
students and we're continually
00:09:30.39\00:09:33.30
appealing to our
graduates to get to use
00:09:33.33\00:09:35.40
what they have learned.
00:09:35.43\00:09:36.53
We don't want people
to sit down of course.
00:09:36.56\00:09:38.71
So these students we
divided into five regions
00:09:38.74\00:09:42.18
to do five
evangelistic campaigns
00:09:42.21\00:09:44.34
and graduates from
the Philippines school
00:09:44.37\00:09:46.05
have gone off to start
a new school in Indonesia
00:09:46.08\00:09:48.26
which you see a picture
here, and also in Cambodia.
00:09:48.29\00:09:50.72
So in Indonesia
working to reach Muslims,
00:09:50.75\00:09:53.71
a health message has
been a perfect entering wedge.
00:09:53.74\00:09:56.16
This year alone we've done
20 health expos in Indonesia,
00:09:56.19\00:09:59.26
and one of the
mission trip projects
00:09:59.29\00:10:02.62
was that our
students went into a village,
00:10:02.65\00:10:04.52
a pure Muslim village
00:10:04.55\00:10:06.28
and they spent two weeks there,
00:10:06.31\00:10:07.89
and they worked
with the people there
00:10:07.92\00:10:09.86
just on a health
basis, they got to know
00:10:09.89\00:10:11.69
the leader of that village.
00:10:11.72\00:10:13.26
And they were
really warmly received,
00:10:13.29\00:10:15.03
they shared that
they were Christians
00:10:15.06\00:10:16.82
and through that
two weeks, you know,
00:10:16.85\00:10:18.20
they became were really
life friends with these people
00:10:18.23\00:10:20.94
and barriers were broken
down and this is really helping.
00:10:20.97\00:10:24.34
You know, this shows
how health can help to enter
00:10:24.37\00:10:27.26
into very difficult
people groups and cultures.
00:10:27.29\00:10:31.67
Now tell us a little bit about
00:10:31.70\00:10:32.78
the medical
missionaries in Cuba?
00:10:32.81\00:10:34.65
Oh, yeah, yeah.
00:10:34.68\00:10:35.71
Now Latin America, nowhere,
00:10:35.74\00:10:37.39
may be there are
some Latin Americans
00:10:37.42\00:10:38.46
in the crowd this evening,
00:10:38.49\00:10:39.71
but nowhere is the
gospel and the health message
00:10:39.74\00:10:43.13
spreading faster
than in Latin America.
00:10:43.16\00:10:45.09
We really can't keep up with it,
00:10:45.12\00:10:47.00
so we are needing more
missionaries to get involved,
00:10:47.03\00:10:49.72
that picture
was taken in Brazil,
00:10:49.75\00:10:55.03
I should know that country.
00:10:55.06\00:10:56.40
My wife is Brazilian.
00:10:56.43\00:10:57.70
We did several
health expos there,
00:10:57.73\00:10:59.51
but that just shows, you
know, in Nicaragua, in Honduras,
00:10:59.54\00:11:02.93
in Dominican
Republic, in Venezuelan,
00:11:02.96\00:11:04.89
in Colombia, in
Bolivia, in Chile, in Peru,
00:11:04.92\00:11:08.20
these are all
countries that we've run
00:11:08.23\00:11:09.50
trainings in and the
word-- and has just taken off.
00:11:09.53\00:11:11.71
In Cuba is one of the
most interesting stories,
00:11:11.74\00:11:14.25
a very difficult country
00:11:14.28\00:11:15.64
to even enter
into for Americans,
00:11:15.67\00:11:18.71
but through the-- with
the help of the Stubb family,
00:11:18.74\00:11:21.29
Henry and Arlene Stubbs,
00:11:21.32\00:11:23.15
we've gone there
several years in a row,
00:11:23.18\00:11:24.93
and I have trained over
a 100 medical missionaries
00:11:24.96\00:11:26.60
who just had a
convention this past year,
00:11:26.63\00:11:29.12
and 32 of those graduates
00:11:29.15\00:11:31.73
are being stipend as
full time Bible workers
00:11:31.76\00:11:34.17
and so they are
out there just covering
00:11:34.20\00:11:36.26
this country of Cuba
00:11:36.29\00:11:38.26
and doing medical
gospel of evangelism work.
00:11:38.29\00:11:40.95
It just been amazing,
00:11:40.98\00:11:42.18
so the Adventist
church has seen it,
00:11:42.21\00:11:44.09
and they've invited us
to their seminary and said,
00:11:44.12\00:11:46.60
can you set up a LIGHT school
right here on our seminary?
00:11:46.63\00:11:49.22
We see this is
working, we want more of it.
00:11:49.25\00:11:52.42
We can print our material on
the press that have they there.
00:11:52.45\00:11:54.76
You can't print, you
can't bring materials in,
00:11:54.79\00:11:56.91
you can't print elsewhere,
but on the Adventist campus
00:11:56.94\00:11:59.43
you can print
material, so we're gonna be--
00:11:59.46\00:12:01.41
we're gonna be
doing that and so.
00:12:01.44\00:12:02.79
There's been 70--
00:12:02.82\00:12:03.88
we just had a recent
training in Cuba 72 graduates.
00:12:03.91\00:12:06.48
Can you tell James this
just a little bit excited?
00:12:06.51\00:12:09.42
You know, what I
don't want you to miss
00:12:09.45\00:12:12.13
is that the offerings
that have gone, come to LIGHT
00:12:12.16\00:12:15.29
have enabled all
of this to happen,
00:12:15.32\00:12:17.62
so it has provided support
for the trainers to go out
00:12:17.65\00:12:20.06
and to teach and to train,
so it's one really represents
00:12:20.09\00:12:23.52
it just multiples,
multiples, it's a ripple effect.
00:12:23.55\00:12:25.89
Absolutely, there is a
picture here of Andresa.
00:12:25.92\00:12:28.66
She is working in the Amazon.
00:12:28.69\00:12:31.78
She is a Brazilian that
came to Wildwood for training
00:12:31.81\00:12:34.11
and then linked up
with LIGHT and we sent her
00:12:34.14\00:12:35.79
to the Amazon
Lifesavers, led by Brad Mills,
00:12:35.82\00:12:39.39
so she's on the right
there, she is now working.
00:12:39.42\00:12:41.92
They've started the
school, training medical--
00:12:41.95\00:12:44.12
gospel medical
missionaries to work
00:12:44.15\00:12:45.56
in the Amazon River
Basin and here she is working
00:12:45.59\00:12:48.42
doing Bible work
and with her students
00:12:48.45\00:12:50.49
doing our gospel work there,
00:12:50.52\00:12:52.04
so she's one
another example is Cabello
00:12:52.07\00:12:54.88
from South Africa.
00:12:54.91\00:12:56.33
He was also trained.
00:12:56.36\00:12:57.66
A friend of mine from
several ago at Wildwood,
00:12:57.69\00:13:00.43
he's leading our
work in South Africa.
00:13:00.46\00:13:03.62
This is an amazing story
they've started up a church
00:13:03.65\00:13:06.51
in an area of South Africa,
00:13:06.54\00:13:07.76
that there was no
Seventh-day Adventist church.
00:13:07.79\00:13:09.28
Our students
throughout the six months
00:13:09.31\00:13:10.88
doing so much community work,
00:13:10.91\00:13:12.18
helped build up that church
and are now meeting regularly
00:13:12.21\00:13:16.42
and the project is doing
well and we just had a visit
00:13:16.45\00:13:18.83
from the South--
00:13:18.86\00:13:20.31
Southern Africa Union
Personal Ministries director,
00:13:20.34\00:13:23.09
he came right through
our office at Wildwood
00:13:23.12\00:13:25.14
and he said, he heard
about what we were doing,
00:13:25.17\00:13:27.25
we talked it all
over, we met for an hour,
00:13:27.28\00:13:29.51
he wants LIGHT courses
off through his entire union
00:13:29.54\00:13:32.48
to train lay members
'cause they are very interested
00:13:32.51\00:13:34.87
in Southern Africa in a
comprehensive of evangelism.
00:13:34.90\00:13:39.39
More holistic type.
00:13:39.42\00:13:41.69
James, we want
to thank you so much
00:13:41.72\00:13:43.37
for what you're
doing through LIGHT
00:13:43.40\00:13:44.81
and to where people are doing
00:13:44.84\00:13:46.01
all around the
world giving training,
00:13:46.04\00:13:48.46
so that Jesus can come soon.
00:13:48.49\00:13:49.52
Thank you very much.
00:13:49.55\00:13:50.58
Thank you, pleasure
to be in God's work.
00:13:50.61\00:13:51.74
You know, it's
wonderful to be a partner
00:13:54.11\00:13:56.27
with these ministries.
00:13:56.30\00:13:57.89
You may not to
be, you be able to go
00:13:57.92\00:13:59.68
and actually do the training,
may be you're not a trainee,
00:13:59.71\00:14:02.39
but you can be in partnership
00:14:02.42\00:14:04.53
by giving your
gifts and your offerings,
00:14:04.56\00:14:06.76
so that they
can reach the world.
00:14:06.79\00:14:08.94
Huh, Alistair
Huong, how are you?
00:14:08.97\00:14:11.45
Hi, Debby. Good. Wonderful.
00:14:11.48\00:14:12.68
Tell me about AudioVerse?
00:14:12.71\00:14:14.68
Well, first of all
how many of you have
00:14:14.71\00:14:16.48
actually heard of AudioVerse?
00:14:16.51\00:14:19.88
There are still a few that don't
00:14:19.91\00:14:21.74
and we need to change
that right now, Debby.
00:14:21.77\00:14:24.99
So tell us what is AudioVerse?
00:14:25.02\00:14:27.07
It sound like I
listen to verses,
00:14:27.10\00:14:28.73
is that what that is?
00:14:28.76\00:14:29.79
Well, that's not
too far off the truth.
00:14:29.82\00:14:31.40
AudioVerse is a
website. www.audioverse.org,
00:14:31.43\00:14:36.00
where you can download
thousands of free Bible based
00:14:36.03\00:14:39.01
Christ centered Holy
Spirit filled sermons
00:14:39.04\00:14:42.88
and all for free.
00:14:42.91\00:14:44.49
Now how did this get started?
00:14:44.52\00:14:46.06
In 2005 two friends not
me, but good friends of mine
00:14:46.09\00:14:49.88
started a website
really to cut down the work
00:14:49.91\00:14:54.13
involve the burning CDs in
their local church ministry,
00:14:54.16\00:14:57.83
you know how that goes?
00:14:57.86\00:14:58.89
Burn CDs that cost
money, it takes time,
00:14:58.92\00:15:01.51
why not just put it online
00:15:01.54\00:15:03.18
'cause there was such a
thing called an iPod in 2005.
00:15:03.21\00:15:07.36
We don't know
what they are anymore,
00:15:07.39\00:15:09.42
but it just took off
and ministry after ministry
00:15:09.45\00:15:13.75
thought this is a
wonderful opportunity to share
00:15:13.78\00:15:16.46
the gospel to the
world, and from 2005 till now,
00:15:16.49\00:15:21.40
AudioVerse regularly
has grown to the point
00:15:21.43\00:15:24.21
of serving over 3 million
downloads every single year,
00:15:24.24\00:15:28.34
and over 30,000 unique
visitors to our website
00:15:28.37\00:15:31.25
every single month, so,
the word is getting out.
00:15:31.28\00:15:34.99
Oh, it certainly is.
00:15:35.02\00:15:36.05
Now your project is
one that is being funded
00:15:36.08\00:15:39.90
so that you can ramp up
or upgrade your equipment.
00:15:39.93\00:15:43.68
Since all of this
is happening online,
00:15:43.71\00:15:45.50
why do you need more equipment?
00:15:45.53\00:15:46.80
How does that work?
00:15:46.83\00:15:47.87
Yeah, you'll actually
see some of our volunteers
00:15:47.90\00:15:49.95
running around here at ASI.
00:15:49.98\00:15:51.37
We are actually
recording ASI again.
00:15:51.40\00:15:54.33
This is a real
privilege for us to do that
00:15:54.36\00:15:56.48
but we've been using outdated
equipment for a long time.
00:15:56.51\00:16:00.37
We try to keep the cost low
00:16:00.40\00:16:02.03
in order to provide
the sermons for free
00:16:02.06\00:16:04.26
and so a lot of our equipment
00:16:04.29\00:16:06.09
from shipping back and
forth and hundreds of hours
00:16:06.12\00:16:08.68
of use every year,
they're wearing out.
00:16:08.71\00:16:10.90
And because of the volume of
sermons that we're producing,
00:16:10.93\00:16:13.27
we need more equipment
00:16:13.30\00:16:14.66
that we really
don't have enough of
00:16:14.69\00:16:17.25
and actually for a
long time our volunteers
00:16:17.28\00:16:19.18
all have used their
own personal computers
00:16:19.21\00:16:22.03
to do the editing and uploading
00:16:22.06\00:16:24.09
and everything it's
really a sacrificial work.
00:16:24.12\00:16:27.12
And we figured to
give the Lord our best
00:16:27.15\00:16:29.65
to do the quality
work that He expects of us,
00:16:29.68\00:16:33.12
it's time to upgrade.
00:16:33.15\00:16:34.96
Now you send
volunteers, it sounds like
00:16:34.99\00:16:36.54
this is probably a
pretty tremendous work for us.
00:16:36.57\00:16:38.74
Do you have lots
of paid personnel
00:16:38.77\00:16:40.40
that's working at AudioVerse?
00:16:40.43\00:16:42.31
We actually have three
and two of them are part time.
00:16:42.34\00:16:46.20
And but the bulk of the work
00:16:46.23\00:16:48.16
really are done
by our volunteers.
00:16:48.19\00:16:50.51
So they really believe in
the mission of AudioVerse.
00:16:50.54\00:16:54.27
So, all right, there
is something you said,
00:16:54.30\00:16:55.89
so you're giving all these,
and when you said 3 million
00:16:55.92\00:16:58.42
downloads a year
that's a lot of--
00:16:58.45\00:17:01.30
You know, what I
think that if you just,
00:17:01.33\00:17:03.19
just a dollar for
each of those downloads,
00:17:03.22\00:17:05.96
you would be all set,
so why give them for free?
00:17:05.99\00:17:10.38
Almost half of our downloads,
most of our downloads actually
00:17:10.41\00:17:13.46
over half of our
downloads come from
00:17:13.49\00:17:15.56
countries outside of the US
00:17:15.59\00:17:18.44
and a large number of
our users simply cannot pay,
00:17:18.47\00:17:23.22
and aren't those the
people we're trying to reach?
00:17:23.25\00:17:26.23
The purpose of
AudioVerse is to get the message
00:17:26.26\00:17:29.16
out to the world,
to bring the preacher
00:17:29.19\00:17:33.00
because faith cometh by hearing
00:17:33.03\00:17:35.18
and hearing by the word of God
00:17:35.21\00:17:36.57
and we intend to bring
the word of God to the people.
00:17:36.60\00:17:39.17
God gave us the gospel for free.
00:17:39.20\00:17:41.00
Jesus died for us for free.
00:17:41.03\00:17:43.87
And we intend to
give that message
00:17:43.90\00:17:45.40
out to the world for free.
00:17:45.43\00:17:46.73
It's not about the money,
it's about souls being won.
00:17:46.76\00:17:49.59
Amen.
00:17:49.62\00:17:50.99
Tell us you were sharing with me
00:17:51.02\00:17:52.17
some exciting testimonies.
00:17:52.20\00:17:55.19
Share with our ASI family,
00:17:55.22\00:17:58.32
how AudioVerse is
actually touching lives?
00:17:58.35\00:18:00.63
Yes, just recently
I received an email
00:18:00.66\00:18:02.59
from a young lady who
lives in Great Britain.
00:18:02.62\00:18:05.11
She grew up being
sexually abused by
00:18:05.14\00:18:07.58
a gentleman close to her family
00:18:07.61\00:18:09.61
and she had come to the point
00:18:09.64\00:18:11.54
where she was
losing hope in life.
00:18:11.57\00:18:14.21
She happen up on AudioVerse,
00:18:14.24\00:18:15.37
she found one of our
messages by our speaker
00:18:15.40\00:18:17.68
who went through
a similar experience
00:18:17.71\00:18:20.42
but yet found
healing in Jesus Christ,
00:18:20.45\00:18:22.98
and she had a
revival experience in Jesus.
00:18:23.01\00:18:25.75
She got in
touch with the speaker
00:18:25.78\00:18:27.92
and she wrote me an
email telling her story to me
00:18:27.95\00:18:31.26
the very day before she was
going to meet with her abuser
00:18:31.29\00:18:34.56
to tell him that
she has forgiven him.
00:18:34.59\00:18:37.89
AudioVerse has changed
that young lady's life.
00:18:37.92\00:18:40.75
And another young lady
recently wrote me an email.
00:18:40.78\00:18:42.86
She said, I'm a young person,
00:18:42.89\00:18:44.59
I'm a high school
student on the island of Guam,
00:18:44.62\00:18:46.92
I don't know how
to give Bible studies
00:18:46.95\00:18:48.39
so I just play
AudioVerse sermons
00:18:48.42\00:18:50.72
to my friends during
lunch time Bible study.
00:18:50.75\00:18:53.20
And through that process,
00:18:53.23\00:18:54.40
she led four of her six friends,
00:18:54.43\00:18:56.89
in that Bible study, to baptism.
00:18:56.92\00:18:59.46
Amen.
00:18:59.49\00:19:00.52
And the only reason
the other two weren't--
00:19:00.55\00:19:02.50
did not accept the
call to baptism was
00:19:02.53\00:19:04.71
because they already
were, so AudioVerse was a tool
00:19:04.74\00:19:09.21
for this young lady to
lead her friends to Jesus,
00:19:09.24\00:19:12.61
to make a commitment for Him.
00:19:12.64\00:19:14.86
And may be just one last story.
00:19:14.89\00:19:17.01
There was a gentleman
00:19:17.04\00:19:18.07
who wrote me a
story about his life.
00:19:18.10\00:19:21.71
He got into drugs, he
went away from the Lord,
00:19:21.74\00:19:24.39
his marriage was in shambles
and he found himself in jail.
00:19:24.42\00:19:28.73
And he realizes
what's the purpose in life?
00:19:28.76\00:19:32.10
And then in the
quietness of his room,
00:19:32.13\00:19:33.61
he found some messages
00:19:33.64\00:19:34.67
on AudioVerse about
righteousness by faith.
00:19:34.70\00:19:37.54
He learned what it meant to be
00:19:37.57\00:19:38.84
saved by the
blood of Jesus Christ.
00:19:38.87\00:19:40.26
He had a revival experience
and to cut a long story short,
00:19:40.29\00:19:44.61
he ended up
mending up his marriage
00:19:44.64\00:19:47.11
and both he and
his wife ended up
00:19:47.14\00:19:49.12
being full time Bible workers.
00:19:49.15\00:19:51.18
And they are currently
now in full time ministry.
00:19:51.21\00:19:53.21
Amen.
00:19:53.24\00:19:54.27
The Holy Spirit can
work in such simple ways
00:19:54.30\00:19:57.82
and in quiet ways in
people's personal lives.
00:19:57.85\00:20:01.33
You know, Alistair, I'm just
thrilled that the ASI family
00:20:01.36\00:20:04.77
can actually participate
00:20:04.80\00:20:06.00
and be a partner in this
ministry with AudioVerse.
00:20:06.03\00:20:10.30
Thank you so
much for every thing
00:20:10.33\00:20:11.79
that you are
doing through AudioVerse
00:20:11.82\00:20:13.07
and may God be with you.
00:20:13.10\00:20:14.17
Thank you.
00:20:14.20\00:20:16.95
Good evening, ASI I have
with me tonight Jeff Reich,
00:20:16.98\00:20:21.78
Jeff is the CEO
of Laymen Ministries.
00:20:21.81\00:20:25.02
Jeff has a passion for helping
lay people to do ministry
00:20:25.05\00:20:29.42
and he also has many mission
projects around the world
00:20:29.45\00:20:32.59
and but we're not here
to talk about that tonight.
00:20:32.62\00:20:36.16
We're here to talk
about his latest project.
00:20:36.19\00:20:38.70
He is creating a documentary
called The Days of Noah.
00:20:38.73\00:20:42.24
Jeff, would you tell us
a little bit about that?
00:20:42.27\00:20:44.61
Yes, actually CEO sounds
little stuffy, doesn't it?
00:20:44.64\00:20:47.91
so I kind of like--
you know, they call me
00:20:47.94\00:20:50.67
the chief cook in bottle washer
00:20:50.70\00:20:51.85
most of the
time at the ministry.
00:20:51.88\00:20:53.63
But anyhow this
documentary on the days of Noah,
00:20:53.66\00:20:56.29
it's a unique documentary
that's never been produced
00:20:56.32\00:20:58.53
by the Adventist Church
00:20:58.56\00:20:59.95
in the history of
the Adventist Church,
00:20:59.98\00:21:01.02
anything like this.
00:21:01.05\00:21:02.08
It's a really unique documentary
00:21:02.11\00:21:03.62
that's made up of four segments.
00:21:03.65\00:21:05.41
And the first segment
is basically a reenactment
00:21:05.44\00:21:08.36
through animation of
the story of the flood
00:21:08.39\00:21:11.50
as described in the
book Patriarchs and Prophets.
00:21:11.53\00:21:14.43
And then the second part
of it is actually going into--
00:21:14.46\00:21:17.60
it's kind of a spin on words
investigating the judgment,
00:21:17.63\00:21:20.64
if this cataclysmic
flood really did happen,
00:21:20.67\00:21:23.58
there should be some
kind of evidence for it.
00:21:23.61\00:21:25.78
And so we were--
we've been interviewing,
00:21:25.81\00:21:27.38
paleontologists,
geologists and looking
00:21:27.41\00:21:29.88
at some of the hardest
hitting evidences that show
00:21:29.91\00:21:32.15
that the flood
story is actually true.
00:21:32.18\00:21:34.89
The third part
of the documentary
00:21:34.92\00:21:36.23
goes into this thing
about parallel world views.
00:21:36.26\00:21:39.66
Where did this other world
view of evolution come from?
00:21:39.69\00:21:42.36
And why did it
spring up interestingly
00:21:42.39\00:21:44.83
enough at the end of
the 17th century right
00:21:44.86\00:21:47.97
when William
Miller and Joseph Wolff,
00:21:48.00\00:21:50.54
and all these other
people started preaching
00:21:50.57\00:21:52.30
the Three Angels' Messages,
00:21:52.33\00:21:53.57
and it's just a
really amazing parallel.
00:21:53.60\00:21:57.35
And then the last
part of the documentary,
00:21:57.38\00:21:58.88
the most important
part is the contrast
00:21:58.91\00:22:01.58
between Noah's message
00:22:01.61\00:22:02.95
which was a
judgment hour message
00:22:02.98\00:22:05.39
and the Three Angels' Messages
00:22:05.42\00:22:07.59
which is a
judgment hour message,
00:22:07.62\00:22:09.08
fear God, glory to Him
for the hour of His what?
00:22:09.11\00:22:12.46
Judgment has come and do
what? Worship Him who did what?
00:22:12.49\00:22:16.00
Create the
heavens and the earth.
00:22:16.03\00:22:17.69
And what is the modern ark today
00:22:17.72\00:22:19.00
that God's
calling us to get into.
00:22:19.03\00:22:21.00
And that's kind of
where we were going
00:22:21.03\00:22:22.14
in the last part
of this documentary.
00:22:22.17\00:22:23.57
It's a 90 minute production,
and it's a lot of information
00:22:23.60\00:22:28.41
we try to put into.
00:22:28.44\00:22:29.47
We've been doing interviews
00:22:29.50\00:22:30.53
with people all
over and that's been--
00:22:30.56\00:22:33.18
So you spend a lot
of time in the parks
00:22:33.21\00:22:35.82
and the
national and state parks.
00:22:35.85\00:22:37.68
Tell us about that?
00:22:37.71\00:22:38.82
What kind of
challenges did you face?
00:22:38.85\00:22:40.18
You know, because of
the fact that we're trying
00:22:40.21\00:22:41.86
to get a lot of unique
footages really cinematic,
00:22:41.89\00:22:44.46
beautiful footage
shot on a red camera,
00:22:44.49\00:22:46.47
4k camera with Gibb,
00:22:46.50\00:22:48.03
we are going to a
lot of different parks
00:22:48.06\00:22:49.26
around the United
States and state parks
00:22:49.29\00:22:52.42
and national
parks and of course,
00:22:52.45\00:22:53.72
if you've ever been
any of the national parks,
00:22:53.75\00:22:55.74
if you see a
geological formation
00:22:55.77\00:22:57.55
or something like
that in a national park,
00:22:57.58\00:22:59.71
you always see these
little plaques right?
00:22:59.74\00:23:01.96
And those plaques say,
oh, God created the heavens
00:23:01.99\00:23:04.60
and the earth and this was,
00:23:04.63\00:23:05.98
no that's not
what it says at all.
00:23:06.01\00:23:07.42
There is always propaganda
00:23:07.45\00:23:08.79
that goes on all
the national parks
00:23:08.82\00:23:10.44
about all these different
geological formations or,
00:23:10.47\00:23:13.55
you know, certain force
and how old the trees are there
00:23:13.58\00:23:16.25
and everything like that.
00:23:16.28\00:23:17.66
And so it create some
challenges for, you know,
00:23:17.69\00:23:20.19
a Christian group
going into these parks
00:23:20.22\00:23:22.09
and shooting a video
that's dealing with creationism
00:23:22.12\00:23:24.73
and also dealing
with the flood stories.
00:23:24.76\00:23:26.73
So propaganda
sinners for evolution,
00:23:26.76\00:23:30.97
that must have given you
00:23:31.00\00:23:32.41
quite an opportunity to witness.
00:23:32.44\00:23:34.44
What kind of stories
can you share with us?
00:23:34.47\00:23:35.95
Opportunity is an
apprehension sometimes,
00:23:35.98\00:23:38.81
you know it's like--
00:23:38.84\00:23:39.87
in some of the
parks you can just go in
00:23:39.90\00:23:42.32
and set up your camera gear.
00:23:42.35\00:23:43.62
The park ranger
say, oh, that's cool,
00:23:43.65\00:23:44.86
you know, go a head and do it.
00:23:44.89\00:23:45.92
They don't bother you.
00:23:45.95\00:23:47.29
Other places you
have to get film permits
00:23:47.32\00:23:49.31
and you go in and
like a-- like for instance
00:23:49.34\00:23:52.89
there's one park and I
have to be really careful about
00:23:52.92\00:23:54.73
what I'm saying here,
but this one particular park,
00:23:54.76\00:23:56.57
we went to-- we drew
a film permit to go in,
00:23:56.60\00:24:00.37
and then the lady that was doing
00:24:00.40\00:24:01.71
the film promo was
telling us all the details about
00:24:01.74\00:24:03.59
how where we could
shoot, where we couldn't shoot
00:24:03.62\00:24:06.59
and then she said,
what is this film about?
00:24:06.62\00:24:09.72
And I started to tell her,
00:24:09.75\00:24:11.01
and her whole
tone of voice changed
00:24:11.04\00:24:14.03
because you see
there is a lot of like
00:24:14.06\00:24:16.21
government grants and money
that come to help fix parks
00:24:16.24\00:24:19.23
up to help propagate evolution
at some of these parks,
00:24:19.26\00:24:21.83
and so you're talking
financial income for the parks,
00:24:21.86\00:24:25.00
and so what it-- ended
up happening is we ended up
00:24:25.03\00:24:30.31
finding out that this
one particular situation
00:24:30.34\00:24:32.61
the person became
very hostile towards us.
00:24:32.64\00:24:34.94
And so, if anybody
seen me on television,
00:24:34.97\00:24:37.74
I'm always kind of like,
00:24:37.77\00:24:39.32
fly by the seat of
your pants kind of guy,
00:24:39.35\00:24:41.07
you know, I'm not
scripted but now we are shooting
00:24:41.10\00:24:43.12
these kind of
narrations with Gibbs
00:24:43.15\00:24:44.72
and he have to be
at a certain place
00:24:44.75\00:24:46.09
at a certain time and
everything is got to be
00:24:46.12\00:24:47.95
scripted just
perfect and then they said,
00:24:47.98\00:24:50.20
oh, you gonna have
to have a park ranger,
00:24:50.23\00:24:51.78
monitoring you at $80
an hour, the whole time
00:24:51.81\00:24:54.31
you're
shooting, most of the time
00:24:54.34\00:24:55.78
and having a park ranger
with his arms folded watching
00:24:55.81\00:24:58.56
while you're trying to
do this kind of narration
00:24:58.59\00:24:59.85
can be pretty tough.
00:24:59.88\00:25:01.12
And so there is all
this apprehension and so,
00:25:01.15\00:25:03.36
we went in and
the first park ranger
00:25:03.39\00:25:05.20
that came with just watch
us one day was a young girl,
00:25:05.23\00:25:08.91
was a fairly new
park ranger and she saw us
00:25:08.94\00:25:11.18
and we started talking to her,
00:25:11.21\00:25:12.74
and then before
we knew it she said,
00:25:12.77\00:25:14.13
you guys are cool, we'll
see you later and she just left.
00:25:14.16\00:25:16.34
Well, then later she
followed us to another location
00:25:16.37\00:25:19.10
and she start asking
about the documentary
00:25:19.13\00:25:22.03
and I start sharing
with her, turned out
00:25:22.06\00:25:23.65
she was raised in
the Christian home.
00:25:23.68\00:25:24.93
And she said it's so refreshing
to hear a different world view
00:25:24.96\00:25:29.26
than what I always hear
with all the other people
00:25:29.29\00:25:31.50
that come to the park
and then we had one place
00:25:31.53\00:25:36.30
we went to where there
was large indoor museum,
00:25:36.33\00:25:38.76
they allowed us to
set up our equipment
00:25:38.79\00:25:40.55
that big jibing stuff
inside this museum and we--
00:25:40.58\00:25:43.21
was after hours when
all the tourist were gone
00:25:43.24\00:25:45.24
so we can get really
quality video footage.
00:25:45.27\00:25:47.80
The ranger helped us
actually carried the gear
00:25:47.83\00:25:49.76
into the museum and
then, he's standing around
00:25:49.79\00:25:53.49
and he's looking
at this equipment,
00:25:53.52\00:25:54.68
he starts asking
about this and he says,
00:25:54.71\00:25:56.73
you know, I listen to all
these different scientists
00:25:56.76\00:25:58.89
and geologists coming
here and they talk about
00:25:58.92\00:26:00.61
all these dinosaur
bones and everything like
00:26:00.64\00:26:02.70
that and he said I just--
it just they all contradict
00:26:02.73\00:26:06.05
each other and he said
what are you guys believe?
00:26:06.08\00:26:08.63
And I started sharing with him,
00:26:08.66\00:26:09.69
he goes well that makes
a whole a lot more sense.
00:26:09.72\00:26:13.50
It was kind of interesting
you know, but the-- that really
00:26:13.53\00:26:17.09
I know our time is about up
00:26:17.12\00:26:18.24
but the one
really interesting happen
00:26:18.27\00:26:20.20
is one of the
administrative people
00:26:20.23\00:26:21.52
from one of the parks had
to go out with us one day,
00:26:21.55\00:26:23.91
and that person
followed us around,
00:26:23.94\00:26:26.06
I got to talking with her
while the guys were filming
00:26:26.09\00:26:28.44
and she told me
that-- she said, you know,
00:26:28.47\00:26:32.14
Jeff you guys are
doing wonderful work,
00:26:32.17\00:26:34.09
you go a head and film
anywhere in this park you want
00:26:34.12\00:26:37.05
and she just really
thanked us for being there.
00:26:37.08\00:26:40.77
So you've really seen God
work through this project.
00:26:40.80\00:26:43.75
Yeah. You've
seen His hand working.
00:26:43.78\00:26:45.17
Yeah, it's been really,
really a blessing to interface
00:26:45.20\00:26:47.62
with some of the--
the administrative people
00:26:47.65\00:26:49.90
on the parks in session.
00:26:49.93\00:26:52.09
Been a real witnessing
opportunity a lot of times.
00:26:52.12\00:26:54.99
Well, it sounds
like a great project.
00:26:55.02\00:26:56.69
I can't wait to see
the finished product.
00:26:56.72\00:26:59.47
So if people want to
know more about this project,
00:26:59.50\00:27:01.87
how can they find out about it?
00:27:01.90\00:27:03.26
Come by our booth and pick up
00:27:03.29\00:27:04.51
one of our magazines
down at the convention center,
00:27:04.54\00:27:07.59
we had the booth there in.
00:27:07.62\00:27:09.71
We hope to
release this in March 2014
00:27:09.74\00:27:12.47
when Aronofsky's movie
called Noah is released.
00:27:12.50\00:27:16.35
Anthony Hopkins
is in that movie.
00:27:16.38\00:27:18.76
Really, it's a
multimillion dollar production
00:27:18.79\00:27:21.23
and we are hopping to release
this exactly the same time.
00:27:21.26\00:27:24.02
Thank you very much. Thank you.
00:27:24.05\00:27:26.00
Joining me on the stage
tonight are Linda De Romanett
00:27:27.98\00:27:32.67
and two of her friends
and we'll introduce them
00:27:32.70\00:27:35.30
to you in just a moment.
00:27:35.33\00:27:37.93
Linda, you have a radio
network called Family First.
00:27:37.96\00:27:42.32
Tell us a little
bit about your network?
00:27:42.35\00:27:46.31
We have stations
across the south of the US,
00:27:46.34\00:27:48.97
and we are a city ministry.
00:27:49.00\00:27:51.57
We think it's really important
00:27:51.60\00:27:52.97
that we be in the bigger cities.
00:27:53.00\00:27:55.18
And radio is a way to penetrate
without-- without walls.
00:27:55.21\00:28:01.23
So tell us about
your programming,
00:28:01.26\00:28:03.43
what kind of,
is it music format?
00:28:03.46\00:28:05.22
Tell us about your format?
00:28:05.25\00:28:07.04
No, we do all talk, no music.
00:28:07.07\00:28:10.20
We do religious liberty,
we do revelation seminars,
00:28:10.23\00:28:13.69
we do sermons, we do health,
we do children's programs.
00:28:13.72\00:28:20.18
And your radio
ministry, is it reaching people,
00:28:20.21\00:28:23.49
tell us about that?
00:28:23.52\00:28:25.36
Tell us about what
it's doing to reach people?
00:28:25.39\00:28:27.62
We've had so far
that we know 503 baptisms
00:28:27.65\00:28:32.56
in the various areas we are at.
00:28:32.59\00:28:33.97
Wow, did you hear that?
00:28:34.00\00:28:36.11
503 baptisms as a
result of her radio network.
00:28:36.14\00:28:40.83
But that's just a
tip of the iceberg.
00:28:40.86\00:28:42.68
Those are people
that have showed up
00:28:42.71\00:28:44.47
and showing up at
the churches and said,
00:28:44.50\00:28:46.74
I want to be an Adventist.
00:28:46.77\00:28:49.16
Wow, so we've got some
people with you tonight,
00:28:49.19\00:28:53.15
we have Sandra and David Yandoh,
00:28:53.18\00:28:56.11
is that correct?
00:28:56.14\00:28:57.19
And you were Sandra,
you were driving down
00:28:57.22\00:29:01.53
the street one day
listening to your radio,
00:29:01.56\00:29:05.10
you decided to flip the
dials and all of a sudden
00:29:05.13\00:29:07.90
you came upon 91.5.
00:29:07.93\00:29:10.73
Tell us what happened?
00:29:10.76\00:29:11.84
What did you hear and
what caught your attention?
00:29:11.87\00:29:14.97
Well, I was very excited--
00:29:15.00\00:29:17.46
I was actually
listening to Charles Brooks,
00:29:17.49\00:29:19.79
I didn't know it
was Charles Brooks,
00:29:19.82\00:29:22.53
but it was just-- this is
where the rubber hits the road.
00:29:22.56\00:29:27.09
For me, it was
extremely powerful
00:29:27.12\00:29:30.01
and I was really
looking for the truth,
00:29:30.04\00:29:36.04
I wanted to go
deeper into my Christianity
00:29:36.07\00:29:39.74
and I really didn't
know how because they were
00:29:39.77\00:29:43.01
all music
stations, but here it was.
00:29:43.04\00:29:45.30
So how did this radio
program impact your life?
00:29:45.33\00:29:49.79
What changed as a result?
00:29:49.82\00:29:51.78
It was amazing, after listing
to the radio station 91.5,
00:29:51.81\00:29:58.25
it was just hearing
sermons and speeches
00:29:58.28\00:30:04.22
and extremely powerful.
00:30:04.25\00:30:08.15
It just had an enormous impact.
00:30:08.18\00:30:10.83
What was your favorite program?
00:30:10.86\00:30:14.25
I like the sermons actually
00:30:14.28\00:30:16.43
and because they really
dwelt deeply into the Bible
00:30:16.46\00:30:20.60
and I was looking for God
and that's where I found it.
00:30:20.63\00:30:22.98
So you found God,
but you also found
00:30:23.01\00:30:25.78
the Seventh-day
Adventist Church.
00:30:25.81\00:30:27.43
How did that happened?
00:30:27.46\00:30:28.49
So how did you find the church?
00:30:28.52\00:30:29.71
Because after a
little bit of listening
00:30:29.74\00:30:33.13
over a period of several weeks,
00:30:33.16\00:30:36.18
I realize this is a Seventh-day
Adventist radio station.
00:30:36.21\00:30:40.06
Thank you, Linda.
00:30:40.09\00:30:41.19
And who are they and
I wanted to know more
00:30:41.22\00:30:44.80
and we went
searching for church.
00:30:44.83\00:30:48.49
And you found the church.
00:30:48.52\00:30:49.55
And we found the church
00:30:49.58\00:30:50.61
in North Lake Church
in Leesburg, in Florida.
00:30:50.64\00:30:54.32
Okay.
00:30:54.35\00:30:55.44
And we've never looked
back. We were baptized there.
00:30:55.47\00:30:59.47
We have Bible study there.
00:30:59.50\00:31:01.11
We're very
involved now. It's amazing.
00:31:01.14\00:31:04.45
And so, David, what did
you think about all this?
00:31:04.48\00:31:06.68
Your wife comes
home and she tells you,
00:31:06.71\00:31:08.48
I found this new teaching,
I've listened to these programs
00:31:08.51\00:31:13.87
and it's really changed my life
00:31:13.90\00:31:15.55
and what did you
think about all that?
00:31:15.58\00:31:18.33
I thought she won the lottery.
00:31:18.36\00:31:21.58
She was jumping up with joy,
she was full of the Holy Spirit
00:31:21.61\00:31:25.31
and next thing I
knew we were going to--
00:31:25.34\00:31:30.29
we are looking
for a Bible study.
00:31:30.32\00:31:32.88
And we found the
Bible study in at North--
00:31:32.91\00:31:38.28
at the hospital
where I work and we had--
00:31:38.31\00:31:42.25
And you work at which hospital?
00:31:42.28\00:31:44.11
Florida Hospital
Waterman in Tavares,
00:31:44.14\00:31:47.34
and it's an Adventist
hospital and yet I work there
00:31:47.37\00:31:50.61
I didn't really--
00:31:50.64\00:31:52.34
I was not a member of
that church at the time,
00:31:52.37\00:31:55.75
I was a Methodist,
but we had Bible study
00:31:55.78\00:31:59.64
with retired pastor
at the North Lake Church
00:31:59.67\00:32:03.80
and going to that
church was like walking
00:32:03.83\00:32:07.32
into a bookstore
full of encyclopedias,
00:32:07.35\00:32:10.43
there's seven retired
pastors that attend that church.
00:32:10.46\00:32:15.24
So if you had a question
then you had an answer in.
00:32:15.27\00:32:19.21
It may be it just that's
what we're hungered for us,
00:32:19.24\00:32:22.45
Sandra is hungry for
it and it pleased us.
00:32:22.48\00:32:26.87
All right, thank you very much.
My next guest is Pat Arrabito.
00:32:26.90\00:32:32.91
Good evening.
00:32:32.94\00:32:33.98
Pat is president
of LLT Productions.
00:32:34.01\00:32:38.00
She is also executive
producer of the Seventh-day
00:32:38.03\00:32:41.44
which you may have seen
00:32:41.47\00:32:42.50
and also the Israel of the Alps,
00:32:42.53\00:32:44.91
but tonight we gonna talk
about her new project called
00:32:44.94\00:32:49.72
Hell and Mr. Fudge
and this is a feature film
00:32:49.75\00:32:54.55
that she has produced.
00:32:54.58\00:32:56.05
Pat, tell us a
little bit about this film?
00:32:56.08\00:32:58.59
Well, it's really an
unusual way of witnessing,
00:32:58.62\00:33:02.87
I think producing a film.
00:33:02.90\00:33:05.68
It's based on the story of a man
00:33:05.71\00:33:08.24
who is hired to find out
00:33:08.27\00:33:09.64
what the Bible really teaches
about hell and eternal torment.
00:33:09.67\00:33:14.32
We want to talk
about that subject
00:33:14.35\00:33:17.09
because I think a lot of
people are confused about it
00:33:17.12\00:33:19.96
and misled and
God is misrepresented
00:33:19.99\00:33:23.18
by that doctrine of Him
tormenting people for eternity
00:33:23.21\00:33:27.72
if they don't go to heaven.
00:33:27.75\00:33:29.83
So I think you brought a
video clip with you to show.
00:33:29.86\00:33:33.19
Yeah.
00:33:33.22\00:33:34.50
I have a little
few clips of the film
00:33:34.53\00:33:36.59
that you can see
tonight and we'll talk about it.
00:33:36.62\00:33:39.24
Is he in hell?
00:33:43.83\00:33:47.28
Is Dave in hell?
00:33:47.31\00:33:48.46
It's a tragic thing to
die without knowing the Lord.
00:33:51.50\00:33:55.25
Edward who?
00:33:55.28\00:33:56.66
Fudge as delicious as it sounds.
00:33:56.69\00:34:00.04
Gospel is not
about building up walls,
00:34:00.07\00:34:03.09
to keep people out.
00:34:03.12\00:34:04.15
It's about breaking down
walls to invite people in.
00:34:04.18\00:34:07.08
Not without a fight.
00:34:16.09\00:34:18.42
And if isn't eternal fire
how come we can't go see it?
00:34:18.45\00:34:20.85
How come we can't go
drive out in the desert
00:34:20.88\00:34:22.11
somewhere and watch it burn?
00:34:22.14\00:34:24.86
You're firing me?
00:34:24.89\00:34:26.62
What's wrong with this picture?
00:34:26.65\00:34:27.74
Where in the Bible
does this say immortal soul?
00:34:27.77\00:34:29.94
Folks are partial to the
truth that they've already got.
00:34:35.44\00:34:39.76
Bible never mentions it.
00:34:39.79\00:34:41.27
Now, somehow it snuck
its way into our beliefs been
00:34:41.30\00:34:43.83
in 2000 years and it's alive.
00:34:43.86\00:34:45.71
Alive.
00:34:45.74\00:34:46.77
So where is this being shown?
00:34:49.46\00:34:51.09
What kind of venues
are you playing it in
00:34:51.12\00:34:53.12
and what's happening with this?
00:34:53.15\00:34:55.60
Well, our goal is to get it
in theaters across the country.
00:34:55.63\00:34:58.89
Right now, we're
working with local people
00:34:58.92\00:35:01.05
to bring it to
their local communities.
00:35:01.08\00:35:03.10
So we have it set up
for a rental program,
00:35:03.13\00:35:06.40
people can bring it to
their community through
00:35:06.43\00:35:08.20
renting a theater or
occasionally a theater
00:35:08.23\00:35:10.49
will book for
film, it's also available
00:35:10.52\00:35:12.33
for church rentals.
00:35:12.36\00:35:13.98
So tell us about
some of the showings,
00:35:14.01\00:35:15.86
I know you've had a number
of showings around the country,
00:35:15.89\00:35:18.59
what's happening with that?
00:35:18.62\00:35:19.65
Yeah, it's been
in over 30 theaters
00:35:19.68\00:35:21.35
so far and many more than
that, churches or schools.
00:35:21.38\00:35:27.14
We had some really interesting
response in Bakersfield,
00:35:27.17\00:35:29.50
the local
churches all got together.
00:35:29.53\00:35:31.17
The local Adventist
churches got together
00:35:31.20\00:35:33.68
and rented a big
beautiful 1,500 seat theater
00:35:33.71\00:35:38.09
and invited the community
00:35:38.12\00:35:39.69
and they sold
over 1,300 tickets.
00:35:39.72\00:35:41.76
Wow.
00:35:41.79\00:35:42.82
It was a fun night
because several of our casts
00:35:42.85\00:35:45.10
were there as well.
00:35:45.13\00:35:47.09
And you might be interested
in one of the stories?
00:35:47.12\00:35:49.82
Yes.
00:35:49.85\00:35:50.88
I would like to know
how did the cast respond.
00:35:50.91\00:35:53.60
You used real
actors, is that correct?
00:35:53.63\00:35:55.92
Our lead actor
is Mackenzie Astin
00:35:55.95\00:35:58.46
and he told a
little bit about his mom,
00:35:58.49\00:36:01.52
who is a well-known actress.
00:36:01.55\00:36:04.13
He said my mom
was raised in a church
00:36:04.16\00:36:06.16
that taught eternal
torment, an even as a child
00:36:06.19\00:36:09.21
she was
terrified of going to hell.
00:36:09.24\00:36:12.03
He said that terror
followed her into adulthood.
00:36:12.06\00:36:14.70
And he said it gave me
great satisfaction to be able
00:36:14.73\00:36:17.24
to tell my mom that
first of all there is no sin
00:36:17.27\00:36:20.57
that's so bad that
she could ever commit
00:36:20.60\00:36:22.42
that would be too
bad for the grace of God.
00:36:22.45\00:36:24.59
And secondly there is
00:36:24.62\00:36:25.81
no eternal fire waiting for her.
00:36:25.84\00:36:28.02
When the film
showed up in Spokane,
00:36:28.05\00:36:30.58
he flew up and
took his mom to see it,
00:36:30.61\00:36:32.99
he said she's gonna
cry all the way through it,
00:36:33.02\00:36:34.79
but she'll love it.
00:36:34.82\00:36:35.86
And he told me
afterwards he said
00:36:35.89\00:36:37.29
we had a fabulous
discussion about it afterwards.
00:36:37.32\00:36:40.63
Wow.
00:36:40.66\00:36:41.70
So tell us some
more stories about
00:36:41.73\00:36:43.46
how this people
are responding to this?
00:36:43.49\00:36:45.88
Sure, in St. Lina, we
showed in the local theater
00:36:45.91\00:36:49.50
and we did a little
survey afterwards ask people
00:36:49.53\00:36:52.68
to fill out a form and a
note that came back to us
00:36:52.71\00:36:55.36
was from a person who have
also been raised in a church
00:36:55.39\00:36:58.27
where she was
taught eternal torment
00:36:58.30\00:37:00.73
and she said even as a
child I couldn't understand
00:37:00.76\00:37:05.17
how a God who calls Himself
00:37:05.20\00:37:06.64
love could torment
people for eternity in fire.
00:37:06.67\00:37:10.16
And she said you have
confirmed my childhood beliefs
00:37:10.19\00:37:12.97
and I can hardly wait to
tell my friends and family
00:37:13.00\00:37:15.19
and show them the film.
00:37:15.22\00:37:16.73
Wow. So has this
film won any awards or?
00:37:16.76\00:37:21.06
We won a Platinum Award
00:37:21.09\00:37:22.56
at the Houston Film
Festival last summer
00:37:22.59\00:37:26.24
and that's
basically the highest award
00:37:26.27\00:37:28.93
that you can get in a category,
it was the category for films
00:37:28.96\00:37:32.09
with the Christian theme.
00:37:32.12\00:37:33.81
And what's next?
00:37:33.84\00:37:35.72
Well, next is marketing
00:37:35.75\00:37:37.12
that's all we're
working on right now,
00:37:37.15\00:37:38.50
and we want to just
get it out there as far
00:37:38.53\00:37:41.39
and as wide as we can.
00:37:41.42\00:37:43.48
I believe that
people are confused
00:37:43.51\00:37:46.04
about the character of God.
00:37:46.07\00:37:48.00
And if they think
that God torments sinners
00:37:48.03\00:37:51.63
in fire for eternity,
they have a wrong view of God.
00:37:51.66\00:37:55.84
And not only that, they
are also open to lying spirits
00:37:55.87\00:37:59.24
if they believe that you
are alive when you're dead,
00:37:59.27\00:38:01.78
they are open to lying spirits
and I want people to know
00:38:01.81\00:38:04.61
what God is really like.
00:38:04.64\00:38:05.78
It breaks my heart that
00:38:05.81\00:38:06.96
they would think
of Him in that way.
00:38:06.99\00:38:09.71
So it's a really
important message
00:38:09.74\00:38:11.41
that you're trying to get out.
00:38:11.44\00:38:13.07
I believe it's foundational.
00:38:13.10\00:38:15.58
And we found even--
00:38:15.61\00:38:18.36
we've gotten a very
good response so far,
00:38:18.39\00:38:20.48
but occasionally we'll
get a response from someone
00:38:20.51\00:38:22.93
who feels like we are
watering down scripture,
00:38:22.96\00:38:25.64
if we take eternal torment away.
00:38:25.67\00:38:28.56
They believe it's
taught in the Bible.
00:38:28.59\00:38:30.46
The movie is about a
man name Edward Fudge,
00:38:30.49\00:38:32.68
a real man, it's based
on his real story and he--
00:38:32.71\00:38:36.59
the result of his
research was a very thick book,
00:38:36.62\00:38:39.79
entitled the Fire that Consumes,
00:38:39.82\00:38:42.06
where he shows very
clearly what the Bible teaches.
00:38:42.09\00:38:46.06
He himself
believed in eternal torment
00:38:46.09\00:38:48.78
until he did that
research and wrote that book.
00:38:48.81\00:38:51.47
And now he understands that
God is much nicer than that.
00:38:51.50\00:38:54.64
So has he
actually seen the movie
00:38:54.67\00:38:56.40
and what's his response to that?
00:38:56.43\00:38:57.46
Oh, he worked
real closely with us,
00:38:57.49\00:38:59.48
you know, we worked
with him to get his story
00:38:59.51\00:39:02.07
we-- he worked with us so
as we developed the script
00:39:02.10\00:39:05.65
and when the first
time he saw the movie
00:39:05.68\00:39:07.89
he cried all the way through it.
00:39:07.92\00:39:10.28
He loved it.
00:39:10.31\00:39:11.81
Well, thank you so
much, this is exciting
00:39:11.84\00:39:14.04
and just one last thing
00:39:14.07\00:39:16.25
if people want to show
this film in their community
00:39:16.28\00:39:19.30
what do they need to do?
00:39:19.33\00:39:20.86
Come to me or email me.
00:39:20.89\00:39:22.93
I have a little
card with a website,
00:39:22.96\00:39:25.57
with all of the information
for how to use that film,
00:39:25.60\00:39:29.36
how to bring it
to your community
00:39:29.39\00:39:30.74
and we'll be
happy to work with you.
00:39:30.77\00:39:32.82
We want you to bring
it to your community.
00:39:32.85\00:39:34.62
We want your people to
know what God is really like.
00:39:34.65\00:39:37.37
All right. Thank you
very much. Thank you.
00:39:37.40\00:39:39.07
Thank you.
00:39:39.10\00:39:40.13
This is our
offering in action segment,
00:39:41.65\00:39:45.54
and once again we
are excited to hear
00:39:45.57\00:39:49.24
from our previous
year project recipients
00:39:49.27\00:39:52.86
about the work
that has been done
00:39:52.89\00:39:55.14
and to hear
highlights from others
00:39:55.17\00:39:57.75
for this year's projects
about what they plan to do.
00:39:57.78\00:40:01.86
So for right now
we're actually going to hear
00:40:01.89\00:40:03.74
from Darryl Thompson,
00:40:03.77\00:40:05.20
he's from the
Ellen G. White Estate,
00:40:05.23\00:40:07.60
and he's gonna
give us a project report
00:40:07.63\00:40:10.40
on the digitization of
Ellen G. White writings.
00:40:10.43\00:40:14.40
So give us some context
00:40:14.43\00:40:16.49
and tell us what
was the current plan
00:40:16.52\00:40:19.04
or the original plan?
00:40:19.07\00:40:20.53
The original plan was
00:40:20.56\00:40:21.87
as many of you heard our
Ellen G. White writing CD
00:40:21.90\00:40:25.18
and we had six different
databases that we managed.
00:40:25.21\00:40:28.26
And we wanted to unify that.
00:40:28.29\00:40:30.31
So in 2007 we started working
on bringing all the writings
00:40:30.34\00:40:34.88
into one electronic database.
00:40:34.91\00:40:37.27
And then in 2009 we
said why not expand that?
00:40:37.30\00:40:42.09
To including all the
languages of Ellen White,
00:40:42.12\00:40:46.19
that had been
translated into one database
00:40:46.22\00:40:49.66
so that was the dream
00:40:49.69\00:40:51.25
and that's where we
sort of heading to now.
00:40:51.28\00:40:53.67
So up to last year or
give us some status update.
00:40:53.70\00:40:56.96
Where are we on the translations
00:40:56.99\00:40:58.82
and moving them into
the online environment--
00:40:58.85\00:41:03.63
Database, yeah.
00:41:03.66\00:41:06.23
Some of you may
visit egwwritings.org
00:41:06.26\00:41:09.96
which is the website
00:41:09.99\00:41:11.73
in which we have all
the writings available
00:41:11.76\00:41:14.12
and there are 58
languages out there.
00:41:14.15\00:41:16.59
At present we have 500 books
available in the 58 languages.
00:41:16.62\00:41:22.88
In the past year
with ASI funding,
00:41:22.91\00:41:24.72
we added another 35, the
previous year we added 105.
00:41:24.75\00:41:30.04
This year we
concentrated on adding languages
00:41:30.07\00:41:32.65
that people requested.
00:41:32.68\00:41:34.33
So we did some Slovak,
Czech and 58 books in Korean.
00:41:34.36\00:41:40.58
And we stared working on
the Japanese books as well.
00:41:40.61\00:41:44.37
And that is working
in eight books in Arabic.
00:41:44.40\00:41:47.67
Those books are
a lot harder to do
00:41:47.70\00:41:49.73
because if any of you have
ever looked at Arabic script,
00:41:49.76\00:41:53.07
it's nothing like the Romanist
characters that we have.
00:41:53.10\00:41:56.36
And so, that's what
we've being working on.
00:41:56.39\00:41:59.10
And we've got like--
00:41:59.13\00:42:00.64
we know there's about 2,000
translated books out there.
00:42:00.67\00:42:03.85
We've access to
nearly 800 of them
00:42:03.88\00:42:07.16
and so far we've done
500 of what we're having.
00:42:07.19\00:42:10.26
That's a quite a feet,
00:42:10.29\00:42:12.19
you must have a large
staff to work on all of this.
00:42:12.22\00:42:17.22
We have a decent size staff.
00:42:17.25\00:42:19.57
We have like 30 employees
00:42:19.60\00:42:22.67
that are scattered
all across the globe.
00:42:22.70\00:42:25.10
And they are working on various
parts of the project, yes.
00:42:25.13\00:42:29.64
Now, this seems to
be the year of the apps,
00:42:29.67\00:42:31.69
something we've
heard about 3ABN's apps,
00:42:31.72\00:42:33.87
we've heard about
may be the sermons
00:42:33.90\00:42:37.17
that could be considered in
the app store with AudioVerse,
00:42:37.20\00:42:41.53
just the whole
lot of those things
00:42:41.56\00:42:42.59
we understand
E.G. White has an app.
00:42:42.62\00:42:45.04
And so tell us a
little bit about that
00:42:45.07\00:42:46.91
and then how you're working
on moving the digitalization
00:42:46.94\00:42:51.82
on to the app for
that availability.
00:42:51.85\00:42:54.99
Who here actually knows about
EGW writings app and uses it?
00:42:55.02\00:42:59.09
Ah, good to see
all those hands, yes.
00:42:59.12\00:43:01.41
So we have an android app,
00:43:01.44\00:43:03.62
EGW writings and that's
available in 11 languages.
00:43:03.65\00:43:07.03
And then we have the iOS app
00:43:07.06\00:43:08.77
and that's available
also in 11 languages.
00:43:08.80\00:43:11.50
Some of you may heard about iOS7
00:43:11.53\00:43:13.62
which is kind
of be a big change.
00:43:13.65\00:43:15.48
We're working on a new app
and a new interface for that.
00:43:15.51\00:43:18.24
I don't know if we'll
coincide with this release,
00:43:18.27\00:43:20.81
but we're working towards that.
00:43:20.84\00:43:22.24
Okay, now I have to stop,
00:43:22.27\00:43:23.30
you said an iOS and
that's not a language
00:43:23.33\00:43:25.60
that I'm familiar with, can
you explain that a little bit?
00:43:25.63\00:43:27.59
Apple, you know.
00:43:27.62\00:43:29.38
Oh, sorry, it's okay.
00:43:29.41\00:43:31.45
Sorry, so if you
have an iPhone or an iPad,
00:43:31.48\00:43:35.75
there's the new
version gonna be coming out
00:43:35.78\00:43:37.55
and we're working on
a total new interface
00:43:37.58\00:43:39.91
to integrate in with iOS7.
00:43:39.94\00:43:43.11
Now, some of you may liked--
00:43:43.14\00:43:46.49
I don't know those
android users out here,
00:43:46.52\00:43:48.93
but that is
growing market in rapidly.
00:43:48.96\00:43:52.58
And a feature that we've had
00:43:52.61\00:43:53.70
for the last 18
months on android,
00:43:53.73\00:43:55.33
we gonna be bringing to iOS
00:43:55.36\00:43:57.60
and that is the ability to
be able to play audio books
00:43:57.63\00:44:01.27
directly through the app.
00:44:01.30\00:44:02.86
This been one of our most
popular features on android.
00:44:02.89\00:44:05.49
So if you in a book, you
can just hit the play button
00:44:05.52\00:44:08.21
and you can start
listening to the book.
00:44:08.24\00:44:11.63
We have about 50 books
that have been recorded,
00:44:11.66\00:44:14.66
those that are not we use
TTS which is text to speech,
00:44:14.69\00:44:17.94
so if you have a kindle reader
00:44:17.97\00:44:19.21
some of you
might have heard of--
00:44:19.24\00:44:21.23
you know, being able to
tap and listen to the book
00:44:21.26\00:44:23.26
instead of having to read it.
00:44:23.29\00:44:24.85
A lot of people have loved
it, especially young people
00:44:24.88\00:44:26.83
'cause they can be
driving and drive time to work,
00:44:26.86\00:44:29.41
and they can just press play
00:44:29.44\00:44:31.82
and they can be
listening to Desire of Ages
00:44:31.85\00:44:33.57
or Steps to Christ or Evangelism
00:44:33.60\00:44:35.40
or any book that they'd like
to as they're driving to work.
00:44:35.43\00:44:38.46
So you don't have any down time,
00:44:38.49\00:44:39.88
you know, you can be listening
to Ellen White all the time.
00:44:39.91\00:44:42.39
And so that's
been really popular
00:44:42.42\00:44:44.33
and that will come to iOS.
00:44:44.36\00:44:46.20
The other big feature
that a lot of people liked,
00:44:46.23\00:44:48.27
just you use as the
study center in their app,
00:44:48.30\00:44:50.10
it will make step
Bible studies out of it.
00:44:50.13\00:44:52.53
But it's locked
on to that device.
00:44:52.56\00:44:54.78
So we're going to be looking
at putting the app in the cloud,
00:44:54.81\00:44:58.89
so you'll be able
to all your notes,
00:44:58.92\00:45:01.24
your bookmarks,
and your highlights,
00:45:01.27\00:45:03.46
you be ought to move from I--
00:45:03.49\00:45:04.91
you know, your iPad, your iPhone
00:45:04.94\00:45:06.69
or to your computer and
take the study centers with you.
00:45:06.72\00:45:09.31
And best of all if
you create a study center,
00:45:09.34\00:45:12.47
you'll be able to share
that with other people as well.
00:45:12.50\00:45:15.58
So that's
something that we are working
00:45:15.61\00:45:16.79
on the next 12 months
and hope to bring out.
00:45:16.82\00:45:18.56
Great things on the horizon.
00:45:18.59\00:45:20.46
So tell us some why do this?
00:45:20.49\00:45:23.21
Why all of the
effort and the expense
00:45:23.24\00:45:26.10
to have Ellen G. White
writings available in that way?
00:45:26.13\00:45:31.59
I think if we asked anyone here
00:45:31.62\00:45:33.36
they could answer
that question as well.
00:45:33.39\00:45:35.54
I mean this church has been
00:45:35.57\00:45:36.77
especially blessed by
the writings of Ellen White.
00:45:36.80\00:45:39.24
You just have to look at
the comments that come in
00:45:39.27\00:45:41.98
if any one of you ever
looked in the comment section
00:45:42.01\00:45:43.86
or the emails that
come in, and thank her much.
00:45:43.89\00:45:46.58
You know, back in 1991
00:45:46.61\00:45:48.65
I bought my first
Ellen White CD for $500.
00:45:48.68\00:45:52.61
Now, we give it to you for free.
00:45:52.64\00:45:55.07
When I came to the
White Estate in 2002
00:45:55.10\00:45:57.71
that was my
mission to make it free,
00:45:57.74\00:45:59.82
to get partners like ASI,
00:45:59.85\00:46:01.79
people like you to
contribute to the project,
00:46:01.82\00:46:04.07
so that we can make
it to the world for free
00:46:04.10\00:46:06.72
because the words
that are contained in there
00:46:06.75\00:46:09.16
cannot be replaced.
00:46:09.19\00:46:11.32
As I read it daily, it
gives me the spiritual insight
00:46:11.35\00:46:15.50
that I need to be
ought to get through that day
00:46:15.53\00:46:17.90
just like reading the Bible.
00:46:17.93\00:46:19.84
And the Spirit of
Prophecy goes hand in hand
00:46:19.87\00:46:21.60
with the Bible that will
lead us in one direction,
00:46:21.63\00:46:24.27
to His kingdom.
00:46:24.30\00:46:25.33
Darryl, thank you very much
00:46:25.36\00:46:26.60
and for allowing us to be
partners with you in ministry.
00:46:26.63\00:46:29.63
Thank you. Thank you.
00:46:29.66\00:46:31.78
Coming to the
podium now is Rene Metz.
00:46:31.81\00:46:35.15
He is the
director for Maranatha O.S.
00:46:35.18\00:46:38.67
And I'm gonna ask Rene,
00:46:38.70\00:46:40.09
tell us exactly what
you do with Maranatha O.S.
00:46:40.12\00:46:43.80
That's a little bit
different than Maranatha
00:46:43.83\00:46:45.25
as we understand it here.
00:46:45.28\00:46:46.38
Absolutely, it is
different Maranatha,
00:46:46.41\00:46:48.69
it's not the
Maranatha International,
00:46:48.72\00:46:50.68
but it's just a
coincidence in names
00:46:50.71\00:46:53.99
however I believe
the purpose is the same.
00:46:54.02\00:46:56.65
So we are a
supporting organization in--
00:46:56.68\00:46:59.91
For the church in
the Czech Republic
00:46:59.94\00:47:01.79
for Czechoslovakia Union
00:47:01.82\00:47:03.69
and our focus is to
bring people to Jesus
00:47:03.72\00:47:06.23
so evangelism is our main focus.
00:47:06.26\00:47:08.47
And as such then the
Youth for Jesus program
00:47:08.50\00:47:11.03
which is a
project for this year,
00:47:11.06\00:47:13.05
falls under your
banner, your responsibility.
00:47:13.08\00:47:14.83
Absolutely, absolutely,
00:47:14.86\00:47:16.32
Youth for Jesus is
one of our main projects.
00:47:16.35\00:47:18.63
Tell us a little bit about
00:47:18.66\00:47:19.88
Youth for Jesus in
the Czech Republic?
00:47:19.91\00:47:23.05
As all of you are familiar
with Youth for Jesus program,
00:47:23.08\00:47:25.76
I don't believe I
have to go into details,
00:47:25.79\00:47:27.60
but I would like to
extend a thank you to ASI
00:47:27.63\00:47:32.30
because in Tampa, we
brought a group of young people
00:47:32.33\00:47:35.74
to get excited, get motivated
00:47:35.77\00:47:38.29
and get ready to
start the project
00:47:38.32\00:47:41.48
in the Czech Republic.
00:47:41.51\00:47:43.10
And since 2009
00:47:43.13\00:47:44.98
every summer we've had
a group of young people
00:47:45.01\00:47:47.73
working in the
project Youth for Jesus.
00:47:47.76\00:47:50.81
And our main goal
in this project is
00:47:50.84\00:47:53.29
that we are trying to
teach and motivate the churches
00:47:53.32\00:47:56.40
that this is not
just a summer project,
00:47:56.43\00:47:59.59
but it is year around project,
00:47:59.62\00:48:01.82
it is not ASI's or
Maranatha's project,
00:48:01.85\00:48:04.99
but it is their own
project so we teach them
00:48:05.02\00:48:07.89
and motivate them to
take it as their own,
00:48:07.92\00:48:10.70
so when the young
people leave and go home,
00:48:10.73\00:48:13.78
the church-- the
church members stay motivated
00:48:13.81\00:48:17.09
and they start
to stay in unction.
00:48:17.12\00:48:19.39
Share with us a few of
the specific challenges,
00:48:19.42\00:48:22.33
some of the
things that are different
00:48:22.36\00:48:23.97
in the Czech Republic
environment than here,
00:48:24.00\00:48:26.32
that you're faced with?
00:48:26.35\00:48:27.96
As we all know, as we all know
00:48:27.99\00:48:30.88
some of the
challenges are similar,
00:48:30.91\00:48:32.99
but Europe is
very secular continent.
00:48:33.02\00:48:37.74
Czech Republic
is one of the most
00:48:37.77\00:48:39.32
secular countries of the world.
00:48:39.35\00:48:41.87
So one of the big challenges is
00:48:41.90\00:48:43.70
when the young
people come to the door
00:48:43.73\00:48:45.36
and especially the new
ones who have no experience,
00:48:45.39\00:48:48.44
it is very hard for them,
00:48:48.47\00:48:50.06
when they knock at the
door and they get this very cold
00:48:50.09\00:48:52.77
and tough response,
00:48:52.80\00:48:54.30
so it is our job
to motivate them,
00:48:54.33\00:48:56.58
to explain to them
00:48:56.61\00:48:58.33
and to prayerfully
get over this challenge.
00:48:58.36\00:49:01.09
Also, in big cities
00:49:01.12\00:49:03.85
intellectual mindset is
big challenge in Czech Republic
00:49:03.88\00:49:07.97
because for intellectual people
00:49:08.00\00:49:09.88
many times the simple
salvation is way too simple,
00:49:09.91\00:49:13.65
it must be much
more complicated,
00:49:13.68\00:49:15.74
so in the Bible studies
it's kind of difficult to--
00:49:15.77\00:49:19.00
to discuss with
them, but by God's grace
00:49:19.03\00:49:22.20
He is speaking to
those people as well.
00:49:22.23\00:49:24.92
And may be the last
one which could be similar
00:49:24.95\00:49:27.96
across the world is
this self prejudice thinking,
00:49:27.99\00:49:32.10
when you come to the door,
00:49:32.13\00:49:33.44
and you already think
that you will be rejected,
00:49:33.47\00:49:36.22
and that's something we
all have to pray for that
00:49:36.25\00:49:39.45
we've come to the door
with expectation of blessing.
00:49:39.48\00:49:43.36
Yes. Yes, that's wonderful.
00:49:43.39\00:49:45.84
Tell us some, a few testimonies
00:49:45.87\00:49:47.62
or what are some of the
activities that you may do
00:49:47.65\00:49:51.12
when I think we may
have a couple of pictures
00:49:51.15\00:49:52.81
that will guide
us through that--
00:49:52.84\00:49:53.87
Absolutely, we do
have a few pictures
00:49:53.90\00:49:55.59
so if--if we see
them on the screen
00:49:55.62\00:49:57.65
this is a group of young people
00:49:57.68\00:49:58.98
that actually is
meeting this year in Slovakia
00:49:59.01\00:50:02.05
in the city
called Banska Bystrica.
00:50:02.08\00:50:05.58
The young people,
on the next picture
00:50:05.61\00:50:07.17
we'll see are
going to the squares,
00:50:07.20\00:50:10.55
they talk to
people, they invite them
00:50:10.58\00:50:12.63
to health programs and to
the evening meetings as well.
00:50:12.66\00:50:18.03
And on the next picture we
have something that is exciting.
00:50:18.06\00:50:22.65
Wherever we go, we like to
see young people being involved
00:50:22.68\00:50:26.32
and you see four young ladies,
three of them are sisters,
00:50:26.35\00:50:30.54
one of them is
named-- her name is Christina,
00:50:30.57\00:50:33.51
she came to the
Youth for Jesus program
00:50:33.54\00:50:35.37
when she was 14 years old.
00:50:35.40\00:50:37.27
And that year she was
also preaching the message.
00:50:37.30\00:50:40.16
And that was in 2010
00:50:40.19\00:50:41.92
and this year she brought
with her two sisters as well,
00:50:41.95\00:50:45.70
so it is exciting to see
that when somebody gets on fire,
00:50:45.73\00:50:50.72
will talk to someone else
00:50:50.75\00:50:51.99
and bring the
young people with them,
00:50:52.02\00:50:53.46
so we're happy for that.
00:50:53.49\00:50:55.31
And just as a side note,
this is really significant
00:50:55.34\00:50:59.50
because the young
people are very kind of liberal
00:50:59.53\00:51:02.35
in their thinking and
so it's difficult for them
00:51:02.38\00:51:05.06
to kind of get
attached to spiritual things.
00:51:05.09\00:51:07.80
So to have them involved
00:51:07.83\00:51:08.86
in Youth for Jesus
is pretty remarkable.
00:51:08.89\00:51:10.47
Absolutely.
00:51:10.50\00:51:12.13
For instance, I spoke
with my colleague Yuri
00:51:12.16\00:51:14.84
who is running this project
00:51:14.87\00:51:16.26
and he told us that
we've had few students
00:51:16.29\00:51:19.29
who came for one
week and they said well,
00:51:19.32\00:51:21.00
after week I'm
done, I'm going home.
00:51:21.03\00:51:23.69
They went home and in
two days they were right back
00:51:23.72\00:51:26.64
decided that they want to stay
00:51:26.67\00:51:28.52
for the
remaining of the program.
00:51:28.55\00:51:30.35
And you're right,
Debbie, in the big cities
00:51:30.38\00:51:33.12
and that might be true
for the whole world as well.
00:51:33.15\00:51:36.34
In the big
cities we're struggling
00:51:36.37\00:51:38.06
with the liberal mindset
00:51:38.09\00:51:40.00
where young people are not much
interested in spiritual things
00:51:40.03\00:51:45.67
and I'm thankful that
the project Youth for Jesus
00:51:45.70\00:51:47.80
is really working on
the minds of young people.
00:51:47.83\00:51:51.13
Tell us about the next picture,
there's a young lady there?
00:51:51.16\00:51:54.11
This young lady,
her name is Adela.
00:51:54.14\00:51:57.06
She actually happened--
00:51:57.09\00:51:58.17
and we don't
believe in accidents, do we?
00:51:58.20\00:52:00.36
But she actually happened to
be at Youth for Jesus program
00:52:00.39\00:52:04.39
without even wanting to be
there, so she ended up there.
00:52:04.42\00:52:07.97
And she went through
the course of the program,
00:52:08.00\00:52:10.45
she got excited,
00:52:10.48\00:52:12.22
the Holy Spirit
touched her heart
00:52:12.25\00:52:15.50
and she will be
baptized this fall.
00:52:15.53\00:52:19.03
So Youth for
Jesus is really touching
00:52:19.06\00:52:21.13
the hearts of young people,
not only the people at the door
00:52:21.16\00:52:24.39
but people that are
actually doing this service
00:52:24.42\00:52:27.94
and this mission
and we're excited
00:52:27.97\00:52:30.07
that this has
this double blessing.
00:52:30.10\00:52:32.05
It's a blessing to see people
being baptized from outside,
00:52:32.08\00:52:35.88
but it's blessing to see our
young people being converted,
00:52:35.91\00:52:39.32
having a new, a
renewed experience with Jesus.
00:52:39.35\00:52:42.70
And that brings us
to our last picture
00:52:42.73\00:52:44.49
which really kind of commentates
00:52:44.52\00:52:45.76
and gives us the reason
why all of this is happening.
00:52:45.79\00:52:48.50
Absolutely.
00:52:48.53\00:52:50.15
In our union,
00:52:50.18\00:52:53.26
the youth in Prague is
really struggling spiritually
00:52:53.29\00:52:56.55
and I've heard someone
saying that someone said,
00:52:56.58\00:52:59.04
I'll give a big prize to someone
00:52:59.07\00:53:00.94
who will inspire young
people to live a spiritual life,
00:53:00.97\00:53:05.35
to give them
something spiritual.
00:53:05.38\00:53:07.22
And now this picture you
saw Luke who was baptized.
00:53:07.25\00:53:10.57
He is the member of
one of the Prague churches.
00:53:10.60\00:53:13.78
And my colleague Yuri
00:53:13.81\00:53:15.99
he started after starting
the Youth for Jesus project.
00:53:16.02\00:53:18.72
He started a bible study group.
00:53:18.75\00:53:20.27
Every Friday there are
meetings studying the Bible.
00:53:20.30\00:53:22.82
And this is
really making a change
00:53:22.85\00:53:25.44
in the young people's
lives and those people actually,
00:53:25.47\00:53:28.31
10 of them out of
this year in Slovakia
00:53:28.34\00:53:31.11
being part of the
Youth for Jesus program
00:53:31.14\00:53:34.28
and this young man was baptized
as a result of Youth for Jesus
00:53:34.31\00:53:38.51
and following Bible
study, so we praise God
00:53:38.54\00:53:42.41
for using this beautiful project
00:53:42.44\00:53:44.72
to change the
lives of young people.
00:53:44.75\00:53:46.57
And Rene, thank you
very much for letting us know
00:53:46.60\00:53:48.64
how we can be
partners with you in ministry.
00:53:48.67\00:53:50.73
Thank you. Thank you.
00:53:50.76\00:53:52.01
Our next project
report from last year
00:53:54.32\00:53:57.01
comes from the group NAPS
00:53:57.04\00:53:59.35
and I let them
tell you what this--
00:53:59.38\00:54:01.18
what NAPS stands
for and this is Darla.
00:54:01.21\00:54:04.95
Good morning, NAPS is
the National Association
00:54:04.98\00:54:08.70
for the
Prevention of Starvation.
00:54:08.73\00:54:10.79
Tell us little
bit about the project
00:54:10.82\00:54:12.40
that was funded for last year,
00:54:12.43\00:54:14.36
it was to build
a wellness center
00:54:14.39\00:54:16.33
in a particular location.
00:54:16.36\00:54:17.62
Share with us a
little bit about that?
00:54:17.65\00:54:19.56
Yes, the area we working in,
00:54:19.59\00:54:21.75
I don't know
how familiar you are
00:54:21.78\00:54:24.00
with the Black Belt area,
00:54:24.03\00:54:26.24
but there is an
area in the Southern US
00:54:26.27\00:54:28.94
called the Black Belt.
00:54:28.97\00:54:30.68
And this area is noted
00:54:30.71\00:54:32.66
for having the
poorest education system,
00:54:32.69\00:54:38.21
medically deprived,
00:54:38.24\00:54:39.89
highest rates in mortality
00:54:39.92\00:54:42.01
dealing with multiple illnesses,
00:54:42.04\00:54:43.65
diabetes, hypertension,
people dying needlessly,
00:54:43.68\00:54:47.38
one-- there's been cases
where we've been working with--
00:54:47.41\00:54:51.51
we have a clinic that's running
there right now every Friday
00:54:51.54\00:54:54.99
and it's given us
a taste of the area.
00:54:55.02\00:54:57.69
There was one day a
patient came into the clinic
00:54:57.72\00:55:00.83
kind of staggering in
00:55:00.86\00:55:03.06
and as he entered he
went into cardiac arrest.
00:55:03.09\00:55:06.14
The doctor and the NAPS
doctor immediately came out
00:55:06.17\00:55:08.95
and we started calling 911.
00:55:08.98\00:55:11.57
We called once, twice, six times
00:55:11.60\00:55:16.39
before anybody
ever answered the phone,
00:55:16.42\00:55:19.71
when they finally came,
00:55:19.74\00:55:22.21
when they finally
came one of the things
00:55:22.24\00:55:25.34
the lady asked on
911 is it an old man
00:55:25.37\00:55:28.63
and then she put us on hold,
00:55:29.72\00:55:31.88
while she
finished her conversation,
00:55:31.91\00:55:33.43
when they finally came the
EMTs didn't really understand
00:55:33.46\00:55:36.68
what the doctor had done,
they hadn't received training.
00:55:36.71\00:55:39.54
And in so situations
like that people have said
00:55:39.57\00:55:43.58
that their mother was
dead, they called 911,
00:55:43.61\00:55:46.01
their mother was
dead for 45 minutes
00:55:46.04\00:55:48.09
before an ambulance came
00:55:48.12\00:55:49.55
and these people are begging
not just for medical relief,
00:55:49.58\00:55:52.86
but spiritual, we
believe that the medical message
00:55:52.89\00:55:55.75
is just an avenue
for bringing Jesus Christ
00:55:55.78\00:55:58.20
and hastening His coming.
00:55:58.23\00:56:00.31
Now, you mentioned to me
that the two young ladies
00:56:00.34\00:56:02.56
standing next to you
that are participants in NAPS
00:56:02.59\00:56:06.90
that they work in the community
00:56:06.93\00:56:08.46
and the
community just loves them.
00:56:08.49\00:56:11.04
And I want to
know when I talk to--
00:56:11.07\00:56:13.05
Kristin, why do people love you?
00:56:13.08\00:56:14.97
Well, the
beautiful thing about that is
00:56:15.00\00:56:18.10
it's truly the love of God.
00:56:18.13\00:56:20.77
There is nothing of ourselves
00:56:20.80\00:56:22.30
that can attract anybody
to us except for God's love,
00:56:22.33\00:56:26.14
and I'm-- as we
work with the children
00:56:26.17\00:56:27.79
they see something
is different in us,
00:56:27.82\00:56:29.89
that they can't see
in their communities,
00:56:29.92\00:56:32.50
in their houses,
they see the love of God
00:56:32.53\00:56:35.00
and the most important part is
00:56:35.03\00:56:37.19
we've had a privilege to be
working in the schools there
00:56:37.22\00:56:40.21
as well as in the
boys and girls club.
00:56:40.24\00:56:42.15
We do many
children evangelistic work,
00:56:42.18\00:56:44.38
so basically we teach them
00:56:44.41\00:56:45.44
about the
principles of our faith
00:56:45.47\00:56:47.50
and the children
accepts it and they accept it
00:56:47.53\00:56:50.26
because they've received love
00:56:50.29\00:56:51.91
and if there is
anything that I've truly learned
00:56:51.94\00:56:55.14
about drawing a community
to Christ is through love.
00:56:55.17\00:56:58.57
So I praise God for that.
00:56:58.60\00:56:59.99
Genise, you had some
remarkable experiences
00:57:00.02\00:57:03.10
working in that area.
00:57:03.13\00:57:04.68
Share with us a
little bit about that?
00:57:04.71\00:57:06.56
Well, I know that another reason
00:57:06.59\00:57:08.67
that we've been able to receive
00:57:08.70\00:57:10.39
so much love
from the communities,
00:57:10.42\00:57:11.45
we've been able to
give love to them as well
00:57:11.48\00:57:13.19
and really become a family.
00:57:13.22\00:57:15.88
And the way that
we've been able to do that
00:57:15.91\00:57:17.45
is like by going
to their schools,
00:57:17.48\00:57:19.49
doing programs with their kids,
going to their church services,
00:57:19.52\00:57:24.17
even just visiting
them at their homes,
00:57:24.20\00:57:26.60
where we meet them, seeing
them every once in a while,
00:57:26.63\00:57:28.78
we're showing
them that we love them
00:57:28.81\00:57:30.77
and because of
that they've been able--
00:57:30.80\00:57:32.82
they've been more interested
00:57:32.85\00:57:34.39
in what we're doing
at the wellness center.
00:57:34.42\00:57:36.07
Even though it's not finish,
00:57:36.10\00:57:37.74
the staff houses
that are finished
00:57:37.77\00:57:39.19
have been having Bible
studies every Friday night.
00:57:39.22\00:57:42.19
So people have been
coming to the Bible studies,
00:57:42.22\00:57:44.86
fellowshipping with us
00:57:44.89\00:57:46.33
and being more
comfortable with the idea
00:57:46.36\00:57:48.61
and bringing other friends
and family with them as well.
00:57:48.64\00:57:51.54
I tell you NAPS keep
doing what you are doing
00:57:51.57\00:57:53.93
and thank you for letting us
00:57:53.96\00:57:55.32
be in partnership
with you in ministry.
00:57:55.35\00:57:58.00
Thank you.
00:57:58.03\00:57:59.39
