You know, we are just having a wonderful time 00:00:45.66\00:00:49.06 here in West Frankfort. 00:00:49.16\00:00:50.44 You know, people say: "Are you in West Frankfort 00:00:50.64\00:00:52.24 or are you in Thompsonville? " 00:00:52.44\00:00:53.95 And you know, we're... We're actually... we're both actually. 00:00:54.15\00:00:56.90 All right. 'Cause our main facility is a West Frankfort 00:00:57.11\00:00:58.86 address. That's right. Then I think the church over here 00:00:58.96\00:01:01.14 and part of our property is on "T-ville... " 00:01:01.24\00:01:03.12 Thompsonville. Right. 00:01:03.32\00:01:04.54 But it's West Frankfort Thompsonville area. 00:01:04.57\00:01:06.17 Franklin County - yeah - Illinois. 00:01:06.37\00:01:08.00 And I had somebody say "Are you in a church or are you in a 00:01:08.10\00:01:10.34 worship center? " We are in a worship center... 00:01:10.44\00:01:12.79 Both. The Thompsonville Church meets here on Sabbath 00:01:12.89\00:01:15.71 but it is the 3ABN Worship Center 00:01:15.91\00:01:18.39 that has been paid for not by our local church 00:01:18.59\00:01:21.03 but by you... those of you in this 3ABN audience. 00:01:21.13\00:01:26.73 And we have people from all around the country 00:01:26.83\00:01:29.09 and outside the country here for our Spring Camp Meeting. 00:01:29.30\00:01:32.32 And for those of you at home 00:01:32.52\00:01:35.01 if you're in the driving distance area, come on out 00:01:35.21\00:01:38.56 tonight. If it's too late tonight, come tomorrow. 00:01:38.66\00:01:40.58 We're going to be here literally all day. 00:01:40.68\00:01:42.72 Right from about - oh yes - 9 in the morning 00:01:42.82\00:01:44.55 until 10 o'clock at night 00:01:44.65\00:01:46.34 so there's plenty of time for you to come and join us. 00:01:46.56\00:01:49.02 And those of you's that's here travelled... I think some of you 00:01:49.22\00:01:52.37 traveled a few thousand miles to be here. 00:01:52.47\00:01:54.51 And ya'll been blessed so far with all the meetings 00:01:54.71\00:01:57.45 and the speakers? Amen! OK, including the food I heard. 00:01:57.55\00:02:00.79 Yall're enjoying that too. All right. 00:02:00.99\00:02:03.27 And you know it's amazing but there will be 00:02:03.47\00:02:05.95 something going on when you get here... no matter when 00:02:06.15\00:02:08.74 you get here, right? And we do have wall-to-wall meetings. 00:02:08.84\00:02:13.64 And so it's been a wonderful blessing. 00:02:13.94\00:02:16.90 And just getting to visit with you folks has been 00:02:17.11\00:02:20.06 a real blessing as well. 00:02:20.17\00:02:21.82 It's amazing that almost 28 years after we were impressed 00:02:22.02\00:02:25.36 to build a station to reach the world that... 00:02:25.46\00:02:28.09 that because of you and your love and prayers and financial 00:02:28.29\00:02:31.10 support that 3ABN continues to literally reach the world. 00:02:31.20\00:02:35.94 Yes. Virtually every continent on planet earth 00:02:36.14\00:02:38.55 people can watch 3ABN or listen to it if they really want to. 00:02:38.65\00:02:41.38 And we couldn't do it without you, so thank you. 00:02:41.58\00:02:43.74 Those of you at home, thank you for your loves and your prayers 00:02:43.84\00:02:46.18 and financial support. I'm excited - have been - about 00:02:46.28\00:02:48.80 Camp Meeting. All of us are - oh yes - 00:02:48.90\00:02:50.74 with the speakers that we have tonight. 00:02:50.84\00:02:52.30 And we're going to introduce those in just a few moments. 00:02:52.50\00:02:55.50 But before we do that, I know that we're going to have 00:02:55.71\00:02:57.94 music. We are. And you know we have a tremendous 00:02:58.04\00:03:01.18 privilege here of most Sabbaths having John Lomacang. 00:03:01.28\00:03:05.78 Now John also serves as the Ambassador of Good Will 00:03:05.98\00:03:09.32 for 3ABN. Travels around the world for us. 00:03:09.42\00:03:12.23 Goes to Africa and the Philippines and Australia. 00:03:12.43\00:03:16.73 Yes, they go together... John and Angie. 00:03:16.93\00:03:19.66 And they're a wonderful couple. But we have a tremendous 00:03:19.86\00:03:23.21 privilege of not only getting to sit at John's feet 00:03:23.24\00:03:26.12 and hear him preach but also hearing him sing. 00:03:26.32\00:03:32.31 And we're going to have that opportunity right now. 00:03:32.51\00:03:35.23 He's going to sing a song for us called 00:03:35.43\00:03:38.07 Much Too High A Price. John. 00:03:38.17\00:03:40.98 Your love endured the cross 00:04:15.84\00:04:20.91 despising all the shame. 00:04:22.75\00:04:27.68 That afternoon when midnight fell 00:04:29.35\00:04:34.66 Your suffering cleared my name. 00:04:35.16\00:04:41.13 And that sin-swept hill became 00:04:42.21\00:04:47.02 the open door to paradise 00:04:48.37\00:04:53.75 because You paid 00:04:53.95\00:04:58.14 much too high 00:04:58.74\00:05:01.60 a price. 00:05:01.70\00:05:06.62 You paid much 00:05:08.80\00:05:12.56 too high a price for me: 00:05:12.76\00:05:17.38 Your tears, Your blood, the pain 00:05:17.68\00:05:22.93 to have my soul just stirred at times 00:05:24.28\00:05:30.24 yet never truly changed. 00:05:30.44\00:05:36.27 You deserve a fiery love 00:05:36.47\00:05:42.32 that won't ignore Your sacrifice... 00:05:42.52\00:05:47.93 because You paid 00:05:48.13\00:05:52.69 much too high a 00:05:52.99\00:05:57.14 price. 00:05:57.34\00:06:01.86 Your grace inspires my heart 00:06:10.90\00:06:16.26 to rise above the sin 00:06:18.37\00:06:23.28 and all the earthly vanity 00:06:23.68\00:06:29.64 that seeks to draw me in. 00:06:29.84\00:06:35.82 I want to tell this jaded world 00:06:36.12\00:06:41.69 of love that truly saved 00:06:41.89\00:06:46.77 my life. 00:06:46.87\00:06:51.38 A love that paid 00:06:51.48\00:06:55.97 so high a price. 00:06:56.17\00:07:02.09 You paid much 00:07:04.37\00:07:07.79 too high a price 00:07:08.09\00:07:13.01 for me with Your tears, Your blood, 00:07:13.21\00:07:17.51 and the pain 00:07:17.72\00:07:20.53 to have my soul just stirred at times 00:07:20.83\00:07:26.74 yet never truly changed. 00:07:26.94\00:07:32.90 You deserve a fiery love 00:07:35.03\00:07:40.61 that won't ignore 00:07:40.81\00:07:43.44 Your sacrifice 00:07:43.54\00:07:49.52 because You paid 00:07:51.11\00:07:54.99 much too high 00:07:55.19\00:07:57.65 a price... 00:07:57.85\00:08:02.51 because You paid 00:08:03.72\00:08:09.38 much too high 00:08:09.69\00:08:12.98 a price. 00:08:13.18\00:08:19.15 Amen. 00:08:30.83\00:08:33.15 Amen; amen. And how true. 00:08:36.06\00:08:40.73 He paid such a high price. 00:08:41.03\00:08:43.42 The very God of heaven sending His Son 00:08:43.82\00:08:48.45 to come here to die for such as we... such as I. 00:08:50.02\00:08:55.63 It... that's a big price. 00:08:56.67\00:08:59.80 It just helps us to know how much He loves us 00:09:00.10\00:09:03.50 and how much we should be completely grateful 00:09:03.70\00:09:09.68 for the gift of life eternal. 00:09:09.98\00:09:12.49 I'm so grateful tonight for God's leading 00:09:12.89\00:09:17.44 in this movement. The Seventh- day Adventist movement 00:09:17.64\00:09:22.00 is still a movement. 00:09:22.20\00:09:23.93 Don't ever let anybody call us a church, 00:09:24.13\00:09:26.56 a denomination. We must remain a movement. 00:09:26.77\00:09:30.58 Moving forward around the world with the gospel, 00:09:30.78\00:09:33.41 with a message. More interested in spreading 00:09:33.61\00:09:38.50 that message than in building churches 00:09:38.53\00:09:42.05 or empires or anything of that nature. 00:09:42.25\00:09:44.70 Spreading the message that Christ is coming again soon. 00:09:44.91\00:09:49.83 And one of the most exciting aspects of that has, for me, 00:09:50.03\00:09:53.68 been to see so many young people 00:09:53.88\00:09:58.10 that God just reaches out and touches. 00:09:58.40\00:10:01.60 Many of them have been touched through 3ABN. 00:10:01.80\00:10:03.80 Many of them have been just found by God. 00:10:04.00\00:10:07.87 I think of David Asscherick and I think of the Rosario brothers, 00:10:08.57\00:10:14.49 two of which work with David and the third, Jay, 00:10:14.69\00:10:18.47 is a pastor in California - the San Jose area - 00:10:18.67\00:10:22.73 at the Cambrian Park and he has the Los Gatos churches 00:10:22.87\00:10:28.06 there near San Jose. 00:10:28.26\00:10:31.00 You've heard Jay preach here on 3ABN many times. 00:10:31.20\00:10:35.88 God has blessed him. 00:10:36.08\00:10:38.18 And we pray tonight that once again 00:10:38.38\00:10:42.06 he will be anointed by the Holy Spirit as he brings 00:10:42.26\00:10:46.69 a message to us entitled The First Prophecy. 00:10:46.79\00:10:52.26 Hello everyone. Hello! 00:11:00.55\00:11:02.68 Happy Sabbath. Happy Sabbath. 00:11:02.88\00:11:04.79 How is everybody doing? OK. 00:11:04.99\00:11:06.77 Have you been blessed thus far? Amen. 00:11:06.97\00:11:08.64 I am very, very excited about this message 00:11:08.85\00:11:11.17 and I've been very, very blessed. It seems like... 00:11:11.27\00:11:13.38 it seems like it's been crescendoing - yeah? - 00:11:13.58\00:11:15.83 the closer and closer we've been getting to the Sabbath, 00:11:16.14\00:11:18.16 and so that's exciting. 00:11:18.37\00:11:19.55 Our message this evening is entitled The First Prophecy. 00:11:19.75\00:11:24.18 And we're just going to jump right in. Amen? 00:11:24.38\00:11:26.13 So just bow your heads with me as we invite the Holy Spirit. 00:11:26.33\00:11:29.33 Father, we thank you for this awesome, wonderful privilege 00:11:29.57\00:11:31.83 You've given us to investigate and to study the most important 00:11:31.93\00:11:35.88 book in the universe. 00:11:35.98\00:11:37.23 And Father we're so privileged to be among brothers and 00:11:37.43\00:11:41.09 sisters in Christ from different places in the world. 00:11:41.20\00:11:43.47 And in spite of our different cultures and different ages, 00:11:43.68\00:11:46.64 Father, we're family 00:11:46.84\00:11:48.58 and we feel like we're almost like in a family reunion 00:11:48.79\00:11:51.38 coming together as fellow believers in the faith. 00:11:51.58\00:11:54.22 Lord, this evening we ask that You hide me behind the cross. 00:11:54.43\00:11:57.01 We have not come to this particular place 00:11:57.21\00:11:59.58 to hear the philosophy of a man. 00:11:59.78\00:12:02.60 We have come here, Father, to hear the living words of God. 00:12:02.80\00:12:05.56 And we ask, Father, that You may open our minds 00:12:05.87\00:12:08.49 and give us new insights and new vistas 00:12:08.69\00:12:10.90 to old truths that we have know intellectually but 00:12:11.10\00:12:13.80 possibly that we haven't experienced. 00:12:14.00\00:12:15.92 So bless us, Lord. Speak in a very, very special way 00:12:15.95\00:12:18.67 is my prayer in Jesus' name. Amen. 00:12:18.87\00:12:21.36 Our message is The First Prophecy, and 00:12:22.35\00:12:25.26 it deals with... Of course, it's appropriate 00:12:25.46\00:12:28.89 that the first prophecy would be where? 00:12:29.09\00:12:30.92 In the first book of the Bible. Amen? 00:12:31.91\00:12:33.67 So let's take a look at the first book of the Bible... 00:12:33.87\00:12:36.36 Genesis chapter 3. We're going to be 00:12:36.56\00:12:39.15 going all over scripture this evening, so make sure 00:12:39.35\00:12:41.30 that your fingers are ready. Amen? 00:12:41.40\00:12:43.38 Because we're going to be going everywhere 00:12:43.58\00:12:45.05 all throughout the Bible. Genesis chapter 3 and verse 15 00:12:45.25\00:12:48.48 and when you're there please say a hearty "Amen. " 00:12:48.62\00:12:50.71 Amen. The Bible says in Genesis chapter 3 and verse 15 00:12:50.92\00:12:54.39 "And I will put emnity between you and the woman 00:12:54.59\00:12:58.91 and between your seed and her Seed. 00:12:59.11\00:13:02.19 He shall bruise your head 00:13:02.49\00:13:04.40 and you shall bruise His heel. " 00:13:04.70\00:13:08.53 This is the first prophecy and really it's a promise also. 00:13:08.83\00:13:12.51 It's a promise and a prophecy 00:13:12.71\00:13:14.56 of what God was going to do in the person of His Seed. 00:13:14.76\00:13:19.18 Now Genesis chapter 3 is a fascinating chapter because 00:13:19.38\00:13:21.84 of course it talks about the fall of who? 00:13:21.94\00:13:23.97 The fall of Adam and Eve. Yeah. 00:13:24.17\00:13:27.15 And when you look carefully in verses 6 and onward 00:13:27.38\00:13:31.36 right after they disobeyed you actually have 00:13:31.56\00:13:34.90 an investigation on the part of God. 00:13:35.00\00:13:39.83 A what? An investigation. 00:13:40.13\00:13:42.81 And right after the investigation 00:13:43.01\00:13:45.48 God pronounces judgements. Amen? 00:13:45.68\00:13:49.65 In other words, the very first prophecy 00:13:49.95\00:13:52.64 is nestled in an investigation that God is doing. 00:13:52.84\00:13:57.55 And then right after the investigation 00:13:57.65\00:13:59.21 God is basically prouncing judgment. 00:13:59.41\00:14:01.87 If you put these two dynamics together, 00:14:01.97\00:14:04.45 you have what we like to call the investigative judgment. 00:14:04.56\00:14:07.87 Typically speaking, the investigative judgment... 00:14:08.07\00:14:09.96 many people think that it comes from the book of Daniel 00:14:10.16\00:14:13.69 exclusively or it comes from the book of Revelation 00:14:13.89\00:14:16.59 exclusively. But the point is that when you see the way 00:14:16.79\00:14:19.50 that God begins His... kind of His model 00:14:19.60\00:14:24.17 of pronouncing judgment you find that 00:14:24.37\00:14:26.66 the investigative judgment is found all the way back 00:14:26.76\00:14:29.39 in the book of Genesis. 00:14:29.49\00:14:30.71 And beginning in verse 6... we are here in Genesis chapter 3 00:14:30.91\00:14:33.59 beginning in verse 6 that the Bible says: 00:14:33.79\00:14:35.20 "So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, 00:14:35.30\00:14:37.31 that it was pleasant to the eye, 00:14:37.52\00:14:38.95 and a tree desirable to make one wise 00:14:39.05\00:14:41.05 she took of its fruit and ate. 00:14:41.15\00:14:42.56 She also gave to her husband with her and he ate. 00:14:42.76\00:14:45.18 Then the eyes of both of them were opened 00:14:45.48\00:14:47.65 and they knew that they were naked. 00:14:47.75\00:14:49.20 And they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves 00:14:49.23\00:14:52.16 coverings. And they heard the sound of the Lord 00:14:52.26\00:14:54.93 God walking in the garden in the cool of the day 00:14:55.03\00:14:57.36 and Adam hid his wife... " Excuse me. 00:14:57.56\00:15:00.04 "And Adam and his wife hid. " 00:15:00.24\00:15:03.11 Adam did not hide his wife. Amen? 00:15:04.48\00:15:06.51 I just said that to make sure you were paying attention. 00:15:06.82\00:15:09.33 Now that I have your undivided attention... 00:15:10.40\00:15:12.33 "Adam and his wife hid themselves... " Excuse me. 00:15:15.73\00:15:18.42 "from the presence of the Lord God among the trees 00:15:18.62\00:15:21.99 of the garden. " Now this is where in verse 9 00:15:22.09\00:15:25.80 God begins a sequence of questions. OK? 00:15:26.00\00:15:31.10 In the Bible you have a fascinating fact 00:15:31.30\00:15:34.62 that God asks a lot of questions. 00:15:34.82\00:15:39.29 In fact, they say that in the ministry of Jesus alone 00:15:39.49\00:15:42.33 Jesus asked over 150 questions in His earthly ministry. 00:15:42.53\00:15:46.33 There's something about God asking questions, right? 00:15:46.53\00:15:50.40 He kind of wants humanity to open up among their own 00:15:50.60\00:15:53.83 assumptions. And the first question in verse 9: 00:15:53.93\00:15:56.69 "Then the Lord God called to Adam and said to him... " 00:15:56.89\00:15:58.89 What is the first question? 00:15:59.09\00:16:00.40 "Where are you? " Question: did God know where Adam was? 00:16:00.60\00:16:03.69 So why in the word is He asking the question "Where are you? " 00:16:04.09\00:16:06.60 Because He is asking a question that is requiring Adam 00:16:08.20\00:16:12.30 to begin to think and to do a personal assessment. 00:16:12.40\00:16:15.34 Amen? That's why He asks these questions. 00:16:15.54\00:16:17.60 God already knows this but maybe Adam needs to realize 00:16:17.80\00:16:21.14 exactly where he is. Question #1. 00:16:21.24\00:16:22.84 So he said: "I heard your voice in the garden. 00:16:23.04\00:16:25.74 I was afraid because I was naked and I hid myself. " 00:16:25.94\00:16:29.10 And He said... question #2: 00:16:29.40\00:16:31.69 "Who told you that you were naked? " 00:16:31.89\00:16:34.67 Question #3: "Have you eaten from the tree of which I 00:16:34.97\00:16:38.95 commanded you that you should not eat? " 00:16:39.06\00:16:41.77 It almost seems like the God/parent here is dealing with 00:16:41.97\00:16:45.61 kind of a little rebellious child, right? 00:16:45.71\00:16:47.46 So a child that understands that they have done wrong 00:16:47.76\00:16:51.02 and they feel very, very guilty. 00:16:51.23\00:16:52.66 So you kind of have this inter- action between God and Adam. 00:16:52.76\00:16:55.80 So God asks Adam three questions and then He transitions. 00:16:55.90\00:17:00.93 Yeah? And in verse 12: "The man said: 00:17:01.13\00:17:04.74 'The woman whom You gave to be with me... 00:17:04.94\00:17:08.36 she gave me of the tree and I ate. ' " 00:17:08.57\00:17:11.75 So what is Adam's justification for eating of the forbidden 00:17:11.95\00:17:15.82 fruit? He points his finger at who? 00:17:15.92\00:17:19.44 At the woman. 00:17:19.64\00:17:21.10 But really he doesn't just point the finger at the woman. 00:17:21.30\00:17:24.36 He points the finger at God because he says: "The woman 00:17:24.56\00:17:27.74 essentially that You gave me. " Right? 00:17:27.95\00:17:30.50 "So really utimately God this is Your fault. " 00:17:30.70\00:17:32.99 Right? The blame game began in Genesis chapter 3. 00:17:33.19\00:17:36.82 And when you look in verse 13 God moves from asking questions 00:17:38.53\00:17:44.48 to Adam and He asks one question to the woman. 00:17:44.51\00:17:48.19 "And the Lord God said to the woman: 'What is this 00:17:48.39\00:17:52.16 that you have done? ' " 00:17:52.27\00:17:53.99 What is the woman's response? 00:17:54.19\00:17:56.25 The woman said: "The serpent deceived me and I ate. " 00:17:56.55\00:18:00.91 Right? So if you notice Adam and Eve are kind of 00:18:01.11\00:18:04.37 dishing off their guilt on somebody else. 00:18:04.57\00:18:08.15 Adam dishes it off to the woman. 00:18:08.35\00:18:10.86 The woman dishes it off to the serpent. 00:18:11.06\00:18:13.84 God asks Adam three questions 00:18:14.04\00:18:16.68 and He asks Eve one question. 00:18:16.88\00:18:20.77 I wonder why that is. 00:18:21.07\00:18:22.72 I think that the reason why He did this is to show 00:18:23.93\00:18:27.69 that ultimately the priest of the home - amen? - 00:18:27.89\00:18:32.89 is who? It was Adam. It was Adam's responsibility 00:18:33.09\00:18:37.40 to maintain faithfulness and integrity 00:18:37.60\00:18:40.49 not only in their marriage but also in their home. 00:18:40.52\00:18:42.91 So that's why God is asking Adam more questions. 00:18:43.11\00:18:46.15 Why? Because Adam is more accountable in the union 00:18:46.35\00:18:50.67 of marriage. So He asks Adam three questions. 00:18:50.81\00:18:54.13 He asks the woman one question and notice 00:18:54.33\00:18:57.60 as you continue reading in verse 14. 00:18:57.80\00:19:01.11 God turns to the serpent. 00:19:01.31\00:19:04.64 "So the Lord God said to the serpent: 'Because you have 00:19:04.84\00:19:07.64 done this you are cursed more than all cattle 00:19:07.74\00:19:10.95 and more than every beast of the field. 00:19:11.15\00:19:13.49 On your belly you shall go and you shall eat dust 00:19:13.69\00:19:16.32 all the days of your life. 00:19:16.52\00:19:18.45 And I will put emnity between you and the woman 00:19:18.65\00:19:22.45 and between your seed and her Seed; 00:19:22.59\00:19:24.33 He shall bruise your head and you shall bruise His heel. ' " 00:19:24.43\00:19:27.72 Did you notice what just took place? 00:19:27.92\00:19:29.89 God came to Adam; asked Adam three questions. 00:19:30.09\00:19:32.89 Then He went to Eve; asked Eve one question. 00:19:33.09\00:19:36.24 And then He went to the serpent and asked the serpent 00:19:36.44\00:19:39.10 no questions. Amen? 00:19:39.30\00:19:42.89 Why? Because the serpent... God wasn't trying to negotiate 00:19:43.09\00:19:46.52 with the serpent. Amen? 00:19:46.62\00:19:47.67 But what we see here is that the questions begin 00:19:47.87\00:19:50.97 to get fewer, fewer to the point where there is no more 00:19:51.07\00:19:53.56 questions. And in verse 14 God is now basically pronouncing 00:19:53.66\00:19:56.61 judgment on the serpent. And after He pronounces judgment 00:19:56.71\00:19:59.78 on the serpent He begins to pronounce judgment 00:19:59.88\00:20:02.39 on Adam and Eve. 00:20:02.49\00:20:03.85 And where you keep reading in verse 16: 00:20:04.06\00:20:05.60 "To the woman He said: 'I will greatly multiply your sorrow 00:20:05.70\00:20:08.56 in your conception. In pain you shall bring forth children. 00:20:08.66\00:20:12.28 Your desire shall be for your husband 00:20:12.48\00:20:14.30 and he shall rule over you. ' " 00:20:14.50\00:20:15.69 Verse 17: "Then to Adam He said: 'Because you have 00:20:15.89\00:20:18.30 heeded the voice of your wife and have eaten from the tree 00:20:18.50\00:20:20.87 of which I commanded you saying you shall not eat of it, 00:20:20.97\00:20:23.04 cursed is the ground for your sake. In toil you shall 00:20:23.24\00:20:25.99 eat of it all the days of your life. 00:20:26.10\00:20:28.11 Both thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you, 00:20:28.31\00:20:31.24 and you shall eat the herb of the field. 00:20:31.44\00:20:33.35 In the sweat of your face you shall eat bread 00:20:33.55\00:20:35.51 till you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken. 00:20:35.71\00:20:38.45 For dust you are and to dust you shall return. ' " 00:20:38.55\00:20:42.23 Interesting. Adam and Eve commit a sin. 00:20:42.63\00:20:46.79 They disobey the voice of God. 00:20:46.99\00:20:48.65 God comes initially to Adam. 00:20:48.85\00:20:52.98 He asks three questions. 00:20:53.19\00:20:55.75 Then He goes to Eve... He asks one question. 00:20:55.95\00:20:59.58 Then He goes to the serpent... He asks no question 00:20:59.78\00:21:03.13 and pronounces judgment. 00:21:03.24\00:21:04.62 Then He comes back to the woman and pronounces judgment. 00:21:04.82\00:21:09.04 Then He comes back to Adam and pronounces judgment. 00:21:09.24\00:21:13.79 If you notice the judgment on Adam vs. the judgment on Eve, 00:21:13.90\00:21:17.54 which one is more lengthy? 00:21:17.74\00:21:19.25 The judgment of Adam. Again, Adam was given 00:21:20.57\00:21:22.90 three questions. His judgment is a little bit longer. 00:21:23.10\00:21:25.35 Eve was asked one question and her judgment is just really 00:21:25.38\00:21:29.77 one text. Really what you see here is chiasm. 00:21:29.87\00:21:32.84 Anybody know what a chiasm is? Raise your hand. 00:21:33.04\00:21:34.91 Chiasm is basically kind of a structure in prophecy 00:21:35.11\00:21:38.20 and even in literature where you basically have 00:21:38.30\00:21:41.28 a, b, c, b, a. 00:21:41.48\00:21:43.51 They actually do that quite a bit in poetry. 00:21:43.71\00:21:45.31 Those of you who are avid fans of poetry... 00:21:45.52\00:21:47.20 which I doubt many of you are avid fans of poetry. 00:21:47.41\00:21:49.81 Amen? 00:21:50.01\00:21:52.14 At least, you know, I wasn't an avid fan of poetry 00:21:52.34\00:21:54.98 when I was in school. So what you see here is 00:21:55.09\00:21:57.90 you see God approaching Adam. Then He approaches Eve. 00:21:58.00\00:22:01.86 Then He approaches the serpent. 00:22:02.06\00:22:03.83 Then He approaches Eve again; 00:22:04.03\00:22:05.82 and then He finally approaches Adam. 00:22:06.02\00:22:07.44 Do you see the pattern there? 00:22:07.54\00:22:08.69 It's a mirror, right? It's a chiasm. 00:22:08.80\00:22:11.77 And when you go through all the books of the Bible 00:22:11.87\00:22:14.20 they actually say that major portions of prophecy 00:22:14.40\00:22:17.55 are in a chiasm structure. 00:22:17.65\00:22:19.73 One of the things that many, many Bible scholars believe 00:22:19.93\00:22:21.94 is that the Pentateuch... 00:22:22.04\00:22:23.44 Anybody know what the Pentateuch is? 00:22:23.64\00:22:25.21 First five books of the Bible, right? 00:22:25.25\00:22:26.77 Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy. 00:22:26.98\00:22:29.46 Many theologicans believe that the Pentateuch is actually based 00:22:29.66\00:22:32.82 on a chiasm. What that basically means is that 00:22:32.92\00:22:35.81 the first book mirrors the last book. Yeah? 00:22:35.91\00:22:39.57 The second book mirrors the second-to-the-last book. 00:22:39.81\00:22:43.01 And then what you have is kind of like a zigorat. 00:22:43.21\00:22:46.44 Anybody knows what a zigorat is? 00:22:46.54\00:22:47.80 It's kind of like an Aztec temple. 00:22:48.00\00:22:50.22 Not quite like this but it's kind of like this. 00:22:50.42\00:22:53.72 And then there's a top portion which is kind of like 00:22:53.92\00:22:56.74 the epicenter. Like that's what the main point... 00:22:56.84\00:23:00.19 that's what the nucleus... that's what the main 00:23:00.40\00:23:03.17 subject matter of that particular prophecy is. Yeah? 00:23:03.37\00:23:06.97 And when you look at the Pentateuch 00:23:07.10\00:23:08.34 what is the middle book of that chiasm? 00:23:08.44\00:23:11.74 It's the book of Leviticus. 00:23:12.04\00:23:13.80 And what is Leviticus talking about? 00:23:14.00\00:23:15.49 Fundamentally what do you see over and over in the book of 00:23:15.89\00:23:18.93 Leviticus? You see the word sacrifice. 00:23:19.03\00:23:22.68 Right? You see lamb; you see sacrifice. 00:23:22.88\00:23:24.89 Lamb; sacrifice. Anybody done the Read the Bible in One Year 00:23:25.10\00:23:28.86 before? Typically speaking what is the book that kind of 00:23:29.06\00:23:32.93 makes it kind of rough to kind of get to finish that goal? 00:23:33.03\00:23:37.23 Let's be honest. 00:23:38.31\00:23:39.60 Generally speaking it's the book of Leviticus, yeah? 00:23:39.90\00:23:42.26 Because it is very repetitive, right? 00:23:42.56\00:23:45.03 And it's very, very hard to follow. 00:23:45.23\00:23:46.54 The point is that every time you see the word lamb there 00:23:46.74\00:23:48.90 who is that really referring to? 00:23:49.10\00:23:50.28 It's referring to Jesus Christ Himself. 00:23:50.48\00:23:53.86 So the most Christ-centered book in the entire Bible 00:23:54.07\00:23:56.65 we can even argue is what? 00:23:56.68\00:23:58.59 It's the book of Leviticus! 00:23:58.89\00:24:00.38 Because you always have a reference to the lamb. 00:24:00.58\00:24:03.01 You always have a reference to the sacrifice. 00:24:03.21\00:24:05.61 You always have a reference to the blood. Yeah? 00:24:05.81\00:24:08.25 So that is kind of a somehow a chiastic structure. 00:24:08.45\00:24:12.27 When you study the book of Revelation actually... 00:24:12.47\00:24:14.75 Actually the book of Revelation is also formed in a chiastic 00:24:14.95\00:24:18.23 structure, yeah? So what we're basically saying 00:24:18.43\00:24:20.92 is that the first prophecy in Genesis chapter 3 00:24:21.02\00:24:24.45 is kind of laying down the principles - yeah? - 00:24:24.65\00:24:28.46 to knowing how to interpret 00:24:28.60\00:24:32.71 the subsequent prophecies that will follow. 00:24:32.91\00:24:35.62 Does that make sense? If this is the first prophecy, 00:24:35.73\00:24:37.91 well then obviously the first prophecy will give us hints 00:24:38.11\00:24:40.36 as to what prophecies are really all about 00:24:40.56\00:24:42.66 and how you and I can intelligently and accurately 00:24:42.86\00:24:46.21 interpret every other prophecy that will come after 00:24:46.41\00:24:49.33 Genesis 3:15. Does that make sense? 00:24:49.43\00:24:50.97 For example, in Genesis 3:15 we basically see 00:24:51.37\00:24:54.88 three fundamental things. We see the word emnity. 00:24:54.98\00:24:58.99 "I will put emnity... " Yeah? 00:24:59.19\00:25:01.13 "between you and the woman; 00:25:01.33\00:25:02.63 between your seed and her Seed. " 00:25:02.83\00:25:05.78 Notice that the "her Seed" is a little different 00:25:05.98\00:25:08.20 than "your seed. " 00:25:08.31\00:25:09.32 Depending which translation you have... 00:25:09.63\00:25:11.47 The second Seed in Genesis 3:15 is capitalized 00:25:11.67\00:25:14.72 in some Bibles. Have you noticed that? 00:25:15.03\00:25:17.00 Why do you suppose it's capitalized? 00:25:17.20\00:25:18.91 Well, we're going to talk about that in a minute. 00:25:20.74\00:25:22.60 "He shall bruise your head and you shall bruise His heel. " 00:25:22.80\00:25:25.95 There's three elements here. 00:25:26.15\00:25:27.20 We have the emnity element. 00:25:27.30\00:25:29.51 We have the seed element. 00:25:29.71\00:25:31.28 And we also have the "You shall bruise His head" 00:25:31.48\00:25:35.35 element. In other words, we have to understand 00:25:35.45\00:25:38.64 what the emnity point is. We have to understand 00:25:38.74\00:25:40.69 what the seed is, and we have to understand 00:25:40.79\00:25:42.99 what bruising His head is all about. 00:25:43.09\00:25:46.04 Yeah? So run with me if you can to the book of Galatians. 00:25:46.24\00:25:50.29 We're going to take a careful look at what this mysterious 00:25:50.50\00:25:55.50 seed is all about. 00:25:55.70\00:25:57.48 Galatians chapter 3 in the New Testament. 00:25:58.84\00:26:02.90 And when you're in Galatians chapter 3 00:26:05.06\00:26:07.20 and verse 16 please say "Amen. " 00:26:07.41\00:26:09.45 Amen. Galatians chapter 3 and verse 16 00:26:09.65\00:26:12.24 the Bible says: "Now to Abraham and his... " What? 00:26:12.34\00:26:15.34 Seed. And notice the S there is what? Is capitalized. 00:26:15.54\00:26:18.84 Obvious connection to Genesis 3:15. 00:26:19.04\00:26:21.59 "Now to Abraham and his Seed were the promises made. " 00:26:21.79\00:26:25.80 He does not say "and to seeds" plural. 00:26:26.00\00:26:28.78 "As of many but as of one. And to your Seed 00:26:28.98\00:26:32.71 who is Christ. " 00:26:32.74\00:26:36.63 So according to Galatians 3:16 00:26:36.83\00:26:38.67 who is that Seed? That capital S? 00:26:38.87\00:26:40.91 It's referring to Christ. 00:26:41.21\00:26:42.89 So in Genesis 3:15 the second Seed that we find there 00:26:43.09\00:26:46.30 is talking about Christ. Yeah? 00:26:46.40\00:26:48.19 What's the point? 00:26:48.43\00:26:49.46 The point is that the first prophecy in the entire Bible 00:26:49.66\00:26:53.00 is presenting to us that the focal point 00:26:53.20\00:26:57.46 of every other prophecy that comes after Genesis 3:15 00:26:57.66\00:27:02.22 is not saying that the prophecy is about... 00:27:02.62\00:27:05.87 is merely a forecast of future events. 00:27:06.07\00:27:08.71 It's not saying that prophecy is about, you know, 00:27:08.91\00:27:11.90 evil nations that will come and attack God's people... 00:27:12.00\00:27:14.69 even though prophecy does include that. 00:27:14.80\00:27:16.65 What it is showing us is that the spotlight on Bible prophecy 00:27:16.85\00:27:21.01 is not really about an event 00:27:21.21\00:27:24.36 as it is about a person. 00:27:24.56\00:27:27.75 And who is that person? 00:27:28.05\00:27:29.44 That person is Jesus Christ. 00:27:29.85\00:27:31.68 Many times when we interpret prophecy, we interpret 00:27:31.88\00:27:34.85 prophetic books, there are sometimes where it's so dry. 00:27:34.95\00:27:40.85 Anybody know what I'm talking about? 00:27:41.06\00:27:42.13 The prophetic interpretation is so dry. There's no strokes 00:27:42.33\00:27:47.52 of gospel truth in there. 00:27:47.72\00:27:49.35 And the point is that, if prophecy... the first prophecy 00:27:49.55\00:27:52.44 is all about the Seed and the Seed is Christ, 00:27:52.54\00:27:54.77 well then that basically means that the focal point of prophecy 00:27:54.97\00:27:57.52 is Jesus. And if in our prophetic interpretation 00:27:57.63\00:28:01.24 our interpretation is void of Christ, we have to ask ourselves 00:28:01.44\00:28:05.03 a question: Is our interpretation correct? Amen? 00:28:05.13\00:28:08.89 Let me give you an example. Run over to the book of Revelation. 00:28:09.09\00:28:12.11 Usually when we think of Revelation we think of what? 00:28:12.31\00:28:14.43 We think of beasts, right? Coming up out of the water. 00:28:14.73\00:28:17.85 We think of lambs with - you know, seven eyes. 00:28:17.98\00:28:20.46 We think of trumpets and, you know, plagues. 00:28:20.66\00:28:23.00 And we think of all of these things. 00:28:23.20\00:28:24.20 Many, many people are afraid of the book of Revelation. 00:28:24.41\00:28:26.70 Did you know that? 00:28:26.80\00:28:27.95 I remember prior to my conversion 00:28:28.15\00:28:30.02 I remember watching a particular horror movie 00:28:30.22\00:28:32.26 that in the process of the movie it started quoting Revelation. 00:28:32.46\00:28:35.32 I said: "Ooh, that's scary! " 00:28:35.52\00:28:37.80 And I remember my mom had a little Bible. It was in Spanish. 00:28:38.01\00:28:40.75 It was La Santa Biblia, 00:28:40.95\00:28:42.53 and I was terrified of that little book 00:28:42.63\00:28:44.18 because I knew at the end of that book there was a book 00:28:44.38\00:28:46.51 called Apocalypses. And that just sounds scary, doesn't it? 00:28:46.61\00:28:49.49 Apocalypses. 00:28:49.69\00:28:50.89 Doesn't it just sound scary? 00:28:51.09\00:28:52.81 And when I watched the movie I though: "Oh my goodness. 00:28:52.84\00:28:54.66 This is scary! " And then finally when I had the privilege 00:28:54.77\00:28:56.95 of opening scripture and I realized that "Wow! 00:28:57.06\00:28:59.34 The book of Revelation is completely the opposite 00:28:59.54\00:29:03.07 of what I thought it was going to be. " 00:29:03.17\00:29:04.27 Right? Instead of being a book of terror, a book of horror, 00:29:04.47\00:29:07.23 it's actually a book full of the promises of God. 00:29:07.37\00:29:10.86 So the key is if we want to understand what prophecy is 00:29:11.06\00:29:13.85 and how do we see Christ in prophecy, this is one example. 00:29:13.95\00:29:16.92 When you go to the book of Revelation 00:29:17.12\00:29:18.81 let's go to the first verse of the entire book of Revelation 00:29:19.01\00:29:22.11 and see what the introduction is all about. 00:29:22.21\00:29:25.00 Amen? Revelation chapter 1 and verse 1. 00:29:25.20\00:29:28.40 When you're there say "Amen. " Amen. 00:29:28.60\00:29:30.21 The Bible says: "The revelation of Jesus Christ 00:29:30.32\00:29:32.20 which God gave Him to show His servants 00:29:32.40\00:29:34.39 things which must shortly take place. 00:29:34.59\00:29:36.89 And He sent and signified it by His angel 00:29:37.09\00:29:39.50 to His servant John... who bore witness to the Word of God 00:29:39.71\00:29:43.17 and to the testimony of Jesus Christ 00:29:43.37\00:29:44.96 to all things that he saw. 00:29:45.06\00:29:46.22 Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words 00:29:46.42\00:29:49.12 of this prophecy and keep those things which are written in it 00:29:49.22\00:29:52.67 for the time is near. " 00:29:52.87\00:29:55.27 Now according to the introduction in verse 1 00:29:55.47\00:29:57.24 what is Revelation about? 00:29:57.44\00:29:58.84 Notice it says "the revelation of Jesus Christ. " 00:29:59.44\00:30:03.05 And actually the word revelation in the original Greek means 00:30:03.18\00:30:05.86 the unveiling. Right? 00:30:06.06\00:30:09.81 So when you see Revelation chapter 1 you notice that 00:30:10.01\00:30:12.96 the first thing that it does is it shows you that the book of 00:30:13.16\00:30:15.29 Revelation is not so much about events 00:30:15.39\00:30:17.84 as it is about a person. Amen? 00:30:18.04\00:30:21.69 And if it's the unveiling well then that must mean 00:30:21.79\00:30:25.30 that the book of Revelation is focusing 00:30:25.50\00:30:27.98 on Christ beyond the veil. 00:30:28.18\00:30:32.31 Now where do we see a veil in the Old Testament? 00:30:32.82\00:30:36.39 In the sanctuary. And where was that veil? 00:30:36.52\00:30:38.97 It separated the holy place and the most holy place, right? 00:30:39.17\00:30:44.49 And of course there was another veil that basically introduced 00:30:44.69\00:30:47.34 the entrance of the sanctuary. 00:30:47.44\00:30:49.28 So basically this is sanctuary terminology, right? 00:30:49.38\00:30:52.40 So what Revelation is showing us is simply 00:30:52.54\00:30:54.77 unveiling the work of Christ in the heavenly sanctuary. 00:30:54.97\00:30:59.39 Right? So the first text of the entire book of Revelation 00:30:59.59\00:31:02.56 points directly to Jesus. 00:31:02.76\00:31:04.94 I think pretty much right now we're all in agreement. 00:31:05.24\00:31:07.63 Let's go to the last verse of the book of Revelation. 00:31:07.83\00:31:09.79 Let's go to Revelation chapter 22 00:31:09.99\00:31:13.04 and let's see what the last text in the book of Revelation 00:31:13.25\00:31:16.10 tells us. Because if we can see the beginning mark of Revelation 00:31:16.20\00:31:19.81 and the closing mark of Revelation, 00:31:20.01\00:31:21.22 it helps us kind of understand what prophecy really is 00:31:21.42\00:31:23.22 all about. Revelation chapter 22 and verse 20. 00:31:23.32\00:31:26.08 And when you're there please say "Amen. " Amen. 00:31:26.18\00:31:27.97 The Bible says: "He who testifies to these things says 00:31:28.07\00:31:30.46 'Surely I am coming quickly, Amen. ' 00:31:30.56\00:31:34.01 Even so come... " What? "Lord Jesus. " 00:31:34.15\00:31:39.02 The last text of the entire book of Revelation: 00:31:39.22\00:31:41.31 "The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen. " 00:31:41.51\00:31:47.12 What does the last text of the book of Revelation 00:31:47.32\00:31:48.99 teach us about? It presents Christ! 00:31:49.09\00:31:52.24 And not only does it present Christ but it presents 00:31:52.44\00:31:54.23 a returning Christ, right? "Even so come Lord Jesus. " 00:31:54.33\00:31:58.59 So what do we have so far? 00:31:58.69\00:31:59.78 Well, the first verse of the book of Revelation 00:31:59.98\00:32:01.67 teaches us about Jesus. 00:32:01.77\00:32:02.96 The last verse of the book of Revelation teaches us about 00:32:03.26\00:32:06.70 Jesus. Now let's go... Are you ready? 00:32:06.90\00:32:09.80 Anybody want to take a guess 00:32:10.00\00:32:12.50 what our third trick is going to be? 00:32:12.61\00:32:14.98 We're going to look at the middle verse of the entire book 00:32:15.46\00:32:19.69 of Revelation. We're going to look at what I like to call 00:32:19.79\00:32:22.46 "El ombligo" of the book of Revelation. 00:32:22.66\00:32:25.58 Anybody know what a "El ombligo" is? 00:32:25.88\00:32:27.97 I know some of the Spanish people are chuckling 00:32:28.17\00:32:29.42 because they know what I'm talking about. 00:32:29.52\00:32:31.19 "El ombligo" is the belly button. Amen? 00:32:31.39\00:32:33.55 That's what the "ombligo" is in Spanish. 00:32:33.95\00:32:36.20 So what is the middle verse of the book of Revelation? 00:32:36.40\00:32:39.24 I'm so happy you asked that question. 00:32:39.27\00:32:41.08 Because if you go to Revelation chapter 12 00:32:42.98\00:32:45.39 you actually find the middle verse of the book of Revelation. 00:32:45.59\00:32:50.56 Anybody want to take a wild guess what it is? 00:32:50.76\00:32:52.59 Revelation chapter 12... not verse 17. 00:32:52.79\00:32:56.68 We've been reading Revelation 12:17 quite a bit. 00:32:56.88\00:32:58.62 It's actually Revelation chapter 12 and verse 10. 00:32:58.82\00:33:02.98 Revelation chapter 12 and verse 10 00:33:03.28\00:33:05.69 is literally the epicenter, the nucleus 00:33:05.89\00:33:08.73 of the entire book of Revelation. 00:33:08.83\00:33:10.51 Most assuredly, this text - the center Bible text of the book 00:33:11.71\00:33:15.70 of Revelation - must show us what the heart subject 00:33:15.80\00:33:20.12 of Revelation is. Would you not say so? 00:33:20.22\00:33:21.67 Well then let's find out what it's talking about. 00:33:21.87\00:33:23.84 Revelation chapter 12 and verse 10 tells us: 00:33:24.04\00:33:25.84 "Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven 00:33:26.04\00:33:28.06 'now salvation and strength and the kingdom of our God 00:33:28.26\00:33:33.34 and the power of His Christ have come. 00:33:33.54\00:33:36.33 For the accuser of our brethren who accused them before our God 00:33:36.53\00:33:40.07 day and night has been cast down. ' " 00:33:40.27\00:33:42.59 Amen? That is the middle verse of the book of Revelation. 00:33:42.90\00:33:46.15 And what person do you see in Revelation chapter 12 verse 10? 00:33:46.35\00:33:50.50 The Bible says that the power of His Christ has come. 00:33:51.10\00:33:56.49 What do we have so far? 00:33:56.69\00:33:57.88 The first verse in the book of Revelation talks about who? 00:33:58.08\00:34:01.05 Jesus. 00:34:01.18\00:34:02.34 The last verse of the book of Revelation talks about who? 00:34:02.44\00:34:04.86 Jesus. And the middle verse of the book of Revelation 00:34:05.06\00:34:07.68 talks about... So what do you think that everything in between 00:34:07.78\00:34:10.92 is really about in the book of Revelation? 00:34:11.02\00:34:12.61 Jesus. When you think of the most prophetic book 00:34:13.01\00:34:15.58 in the entire Bible, what do you suppose that book is? 00:34:15.68\00:34:18.85 Revelation, right? Daniel and Revelation. 00:34:19.06\00:34:20.97 Those are the two prophetic books. 00:34:21.17\00:34:22.50 So the point is that if you notice carefully 00:34:22.70\00:34:25.51 when you look at Revelation you realize that it's really 00:34:25.71\00:34:28.05 talking about Christ. 00:34:28.15\00:34:30.05 This is consistent with Genesis chapter 3 verse 15 00:34:30.35\00:34:34.33 which is the very first prophecy of scripture. 00:34:34.53\00:34:37.46 Genesis 3:15 is laying out 00:34:37.67\00:34:39.83 the foundational principles on how to interpret 00:34:40.03\00:34:42.68 subsequent Bible prophecies. 00:34:42.88\00:34:45.03 And the point is that notice that Christ is all over the book 00:34:45.13\00:34:47.77 of Revelation and notice that in Genesis 3:15 the Seed 00:34:47.87\00:34:50.98 with a capital S is kind of the focal point of it. Why? 00:34:51.08\00:34:54.20 Because He's basically crushing the head of the serpent. 00:34:54.40\00:34:56.93 So if there's any prophetic interpretation that comes 00:34:57.13\00:35:00.65 after and it is void of Christ, 00:35:00.75\00:35:03.09 we have to ask ourselves the question: 00:35:03.29\00:35:04.88 "Is it Biblically sound? " Amen? 00:35:05.08\00:35:07.45 So prophecy points us to a person, and that is Jesus. 00:35:07.65\00:35:11.87 And if you go back to Genesis 3:15 00:35:11.97\00:35:13.70 there is another element that we see. 00:35:13.90\00:35:15.93 So in Genesis 3:15 one of the elements that we see 00:35:16.13\00:35:18.26 is that prophecy is supposed to point us to the person 00:35:18.46\00:35:21.62 of Christ, to the mission of Christ, and it's supposed to be 00:35:21.72\00:35:24.84 redemptive. Amen? We should see the plan of salvation 00:35:24.94\00:35:28.33 articulated in our prophetic interpretation. 00:35:28.43\00:35:31.21 And I think that's how we do service to prophecy. 00:35:31.41\00:35:34.03 Genesis chapter 3 and verse 15 the Bible says: 00:35:34.24\00:35:37.70 "And I will put... " What? "emnity... " 00:35:37.91\00:35:40.83 Now what does the word emnity mean? 00:35:41.03\00:35:43.19 The word emnity is used all over scripture - 00:35:43.39\00:35:46.54 hold your finger in Genesis 3:15- 00:35:46.74\00:35:48.44 and run with me to Romans chapter 8. 00:35:48.64\00:35:52.13 Romans chapter 8 talks quite a bit about emnity. 00:35:52.16\00:35:55.66 Yeah? And it uses it in the context of the struggle. 00:35:55.86\00:35:59.35 And it uses it in the context of differentiating between 00:35:59.55\00:36:03.24 two different classes of people. 00:36:03.44\00:36:05.73 Romans chapter 8... And when you're there please say "Amen. " 00:36:06.03\00:36:09.45 Amen. The Bible says in verse 3 of Romans chapter 8: 00:36:09.65\00:36:13.96 "For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the 00:36:14.16\00:36:16.89 flesh God did by sending His own Son in the likeness 00:36:16.99\00:36:20.51 of sinful flesh on account of sin. 00:36:20.61\00:36:22.87 He condemned sin in the flesh that the righteous requirements 00:36:23.07\00:36:26.85 of the law might be fulfilled in us 00:36:26.95\00:36:29.04 who do not walk according to the flesh but according to 00:36:29.24\00:36:31.61 the Spirit. For those who live according to the flesh 00:36:31.71\00:36:34.14 set their minds on the things of the flesh 00:36:34.34\00:36:36.06 but those who live according to the Spirit 00:36:36.26\00:36:37.88 the things of the Spirit. " Here it is: 00:36:38.08\00:36:39.77 "For to be carnally minded is death 00:36:39.97\00:36:42.18 but to be spiritually minded is life and peace 00:36:42.39\00:36:44.97 because the carnal mind is... " What's that next word? 00:36:45.17\00:36:48.23 "emnity against God because it is not subject to the law 00:36:48.53\00:36:52.22 of God nor indeed can be. 00:36:52.32\00:36:54.17 So then those who are in the flesh cannot please God. " 00:36:54.37\00:36:57.98 You see that? So in Romans chapter 8 the apostle Paul is 00:36:58.18\00:37:00.50 using the same word "emnity" that was used in Genesis 3:15. 00:37:00.70\00:37:04.69 And he's showing that the carnal mind is at emnity. 00:37:04.89\00:37:07.55 The word there emnity is basically communicating war. 00:37:07.75\00:37:10.63 Yeah? It is at opposition. 00:37:10.76\00:37:13.80 It is in a battle; it is in controversy. 00:37:14.00\00:37:18.29 So when the Bible says "I will put emnity between 00:37:18.49\00:37:21.44 thee and the woman" this is talking about strife. 00:37:21.54\00:37:24.12 This is talking about a struggle. 00:37:24.26\00:37:26.50 This is talking about the great controversy. 00:37:26.70\00:37:30.13 So in Genesis 3:15 the very, very first 00:37:30.33\00:37:33.47 phrase that is articulated in the first prophecy 00:37:33.57\00:37:37.17 is the concept of a struggle between the forces of good 00:37:37.31\00:37:41.88 and the forces of evil. 00:37:42.08\00:37:43.26 So prophecy according to Genesis 3:15 00:37:43.46\00:37:46.43 is not only pointing us to the Seed - capital S - 00:37:46.53\00:37:49.43 which is Christ. Not only is prophecy supposed to be 00:37:49.63\00:37:52.20 unveiling the work of Christ and His plan of salvation 00:37:52.30\00:37:55.61 for humanity but also prophecy... what it does is 00:37:55.82\00:37:59.11 it shows us what's going on behind the scenes 00:37:59.21\00:38:02.26 between the forces of good and the forces of evil. 00:38:02.46\00:38:05.14 Prophecy is a VIP class... 00:38:05.34\00:38:07.88 pass, excuse me... 00:38:08.08\00:38:09.14 into the realm of spirituality when you see what's happening 00:38:09.34\00:38:12.87 in the angelic world. Amen? 00:38:13.07\00:38:14.51 And that's why prophecy is so powerful. 00:38:14.71\00:38:16.45 That's what Genesis 3:15 is basically showing us. 00:38:16.66\00:38:19.45 So Genesis 3:15 shows us that there is emnity, 00:38:19.65\00:38:22.09 there is war between good and between evil. 00:38:22.19\00:38:27.49 The apostle Paul here shows us that there is emnity 00:38:27.69\00:38:29.76 between the spiritual mind and the carnal mind. Yeah? 00:38:29.86\00:38:33.04 And then finally when you go back to Genesis 3:15 00:38:33.34\00:38:36.70 what do you see? "I will put emnity... " 00:38:36.90\00:38:39.06 There's the great controversy: there's war, there's struggle 00:38:39.26\00:38:41.49 "between you and the woman and between your seed 00:38:41.69\00:38:45.38 and her Seed" - capital S - which we have already identified 00:38:45.48\00:38:48.87 to be Christ. "He" - the Seed - "shall bruise your head... " - 00:38:48.97\00:38:52.73 this is talking about the serpent's head - 00:38:52.93\00:38:54.48 "and you shall bruise His heel. " 00:38:54.69\00:38:57.34 So prophecy is ultimately going to unveil 00:38:57.54\00:39:02.92 when Christ bruises or crushes the head of the serpent. 00:39:03.13\00:39:08.56 What does this mean? 00:39:08.76\00:39:10.72 The point is that prophecy unveils the final triumph 00:39:10.92\00:39:16.80 of God and His people. 00:39:17.00\00:39:19.36 Amen? This is the three layers of the first prophecy. 00:39:19.56\00:39:22.93 Number one: it shows us, it unveils, the truth of the 00:39:23.03\00:39:25.92 great controversy. Number two: it shows us the Seed. 00:39:26.02\00:39:28.90 Yeah? Prophecy is all about detecting the Seed... 00:39:29.11\00:39:31.65 which is Christ. And finally, it shows us when 00:39:31.68\00:39:34.54 God is ultimately going to fulfill all of the promises 00:39:34.74\00:39:38.50 that He made. Amen? 00:39:38.70\00:39:40.11 So in Genesis 3:15 you have several things. 00:39:40.31\00:39:42.93 You have a serpent. 00:39:43.33\00:39:45.19 How many of you like serpents? Don't raise your hand. 00:39:45.59\00:39:47.94 You have a serpent and you have a woman. Yeah? 00:39:50.60\00:39:53.92 And you have emnity between the woman and the serpent. 00:39:54.12\00:39:57.42 Now that shouldn't surprise us, Amen? 00:39:57.52\00:39:58.88 Because there's always emnity between serpents and women. 00:39:59.08\00:40:01.93 Amen? Amen! 00:40:02.03\00:40:03.83 My mom is an avid enemy of serpents. 00:40:05.02\00:40:08.58 So much so that if she sees anything that looks like a 00:40:08.88\00:40:12.42 serpent on television literally she will scream 00:40:12.52\00:40:16.04 and she will attack the television screen 00:40:16.24\00:40:17.84 and probably attack you. OK? 00:40:18.04\00:40:20.10 So National Geographic doesn't work with my mother. OK? 00:40:20.30\00:40:22.46 Or Discovery Channel. She just... she just cannot... 00:40:22.76\00:40:25.16 she can't handle the snake bit, OK? 00:40:25.36\00:40:27.36 So it shouldn't surprise us. When we see a woman, 00:40:27.56\00:40:29.27 we see a serpent, and then we see emnity between 00:40:29.37\00:40:32.75 the serpent and the woman. Right? 00:40:32.85\00:40:34.80 And then we also see the Seed of the woman. 00:40:34.94\00:40:37.00 But not only that. We actually also see 00:40:37.20\00:40:40.50 the seed of the serpent. Yeah? 00:40:40.90\00:40:43.68 And there's emnity in many, many different levels. 00:40:43.88\00:40:47.02 So what exactly is this? 00:40:47.42\00:40:49.70 When you look at Genesis 3:15 you see emnity 00:40:49.90\00:40:52.53 between the serpent and the woman. 00:40:52.73\00:40:54.77 You see emnity between the seed versus the I'll call it 00:40:54.97\00:40:59.33 the big Seed with a capital S. 00:40:59.43\00:41:00.88 And you also see emnity between the serpent 00:41:01.09\00:41:04.53 and the big Seed. OK? So there's just a lot of 00:41:04.64\00:41:07.11 animosity in this text. Right? 00:41:07.21\00:41:09.23 There's a lot of controversy; there's a lot of beef, OK? 00:41:09.43\00:41:12.98 When you look at Genesis chapter 4... 00:41:13.18\00:41:15.72 Very interesting 'cause in Genesis chapter 4 00:41:15.92\00:41:18.71 you have kind of the continuation 00:41:18.91\00:41:20.23 of Genesis chapter 3. Make sense? 00:41:20.34\00:41:21.94 And you have the struggle between Cain and who else? 00:41:22.14\00:41:25.86 And Abel. What happened to Abel? 00:41:26.06\00:41:28.59 What did Cain do to Abel? 00:41:30.33\00:41:32.31 He murdered him. Now why? 00:41:32.71\00:41:34.93 He was jealous, right? When you look at Genesis chapter 4... 00:41:36.62\00:41:40.41 And by the way, as soon as Cain 00:41:40.61\00:41:44.45 killed his brother God came to Cain. 00:41:44.65\00:41:48.42 And what did God do to Cain? 00:41:48.62\00:41:51.59 He started asking him questions. 00:41:53.47\00:41:55.55 Where did we see God asking questions? 00:41:55.92\00:41:58.32 Genesis chapter 3. Adam was asked three questions. 00:41:58.52\00:42:01.38 Eve was asked one question. 00:42:01.58\00:42:03.28 So when Cain sinned, God comes and He's investigating. Right? 00:42:03.48\00:42:07.53 And after He investigates then He pronounces judgment. 00:42:07.73\00:42:10.51 So this is kind of like the template of prophecy 00:42:10.72\00:42:15.83 beginning all the way back from the book of Genesis. 00:42:16.03\00:42:17.99 So when we look at Daniel, we talk about the Investigative 00:42:18.19\00:42:20.62 Judgment, it really shouldn't shock us 00:42:20.72\00:42:22.89 because that's the way God has been handling rebellion 00:42:23.09\00:42:26.45 since Genesis chapter 3. 00:42:26.66\00:42:28.16 He asks questions, He investigates, and then 00:42:28.36\00:42:30.42 He pronounces judgment. It's part of God's plan 00:42:30.52\00:42:33.22 for dealing with sin. Now Genesis chapter 4 and verse 25. 00:42:33.42\00:42:37.15 The Bible tells us that right after Abel was assassinated 00:42:37.35\00:42:40.98 "Adam knew his wife again 00:42:41.49\00:42:43.81 and she bore a son named Seth, 00:42:44.01\00:42:47.58 for God has appointed another... " What? 00:42:47.78\00:42:50.70 "another seed for me instead of Abel whom Cain killed. " 00:42:51.10\00:42:55.91 You see that? There's... There's that word there. 00:42:56.21\00:42:59.22 There's the seed. Now where did we see seed? 00:42:59.32\00:43:01.32 We saw it in Genesis chapter 3 verse 15, right? 00:43:01.62\00:43:05.12 There's a struggle between the seed of the serpent 00:43:05.26\00:43:08.09 and the Seed of the woman. 00:43:08.19\00:43:10.80 And the point is that once this prophecy was given in 00:43:11.00\00:43:14.57 Genesis chapter 3 verse 15 the serpent was trying 00:43:14.67\00:43:17.54 everything that he possibly could to destroy the Seed 00:43:17.64\00:43:20.99 of the woman. Because he knew that this Seed that was going to 00:43:21.09\00:43:24.30 come through the woman was going to be the One 00:43:24.40\00:43:27.05 that was going to put his kingdom, the serpent's kingdom, 00:43:27.25\00:43:30.52 to an end. Amen? 00:43:30.62\00:43:32.28 So he did everything that he possibly could. 00:43:32.48\00:43:34.22 We literally basically summaried the entire 00:43:34.42\00:43:35.88 Old Testament. When you look at the struggle between good and 00:43:35.98\00:43:38.52 evil in the Old Testament it's simply the struggle between 00:43:38.62\00:43:41.23 the seed of the serpent and the Seed of the woman. 00:43:41.33\00:43:44.01 That's all you're seeing. And it manifests itself through 00:43:44.21\00:43:46.41 nations. It manifests itself through judgments 00:43:46.51\00:43:49.07 and through many, many different things. 00:43:49.27\00:43:50.50 And that's exactly what happened. So God provided 00:43:50.70\00:43:53.57 another seed through Seth. Yeah? 00:43:53.67\00:43:56.57 And when you read I John 3:12 it actually tells us that 00:43:56.77\00:43:59.34 the one who was behind Cain in killing Abel was noneother 00:43:59.44\00:44:03.90 than the "wicked one... " which is referring to Satan 00:44:04.00\00:44:06.67 himself. So obviously what Genesis 3:15 is showing us is 00:44:06.77\00:44:10.07 that to every battle - to every physical battle - 00:44:10.18\00:44:12.81 there's a spiritual battle behind that physical battle. 00:44:13.01\00:44:16.40 That's how we kind of have to look at the Old Testament 00:44:16.50\00:44:18.71 and the New Testament prophecies. 00:44:18.91\00:44:20.59 And when you continue seeing throughout history 00:44:20.79\00:44:23.65 it makes sense why there are so many death decrees in history. 00:44:23.85\00:44:27.12 Run with me to the book of Exodus. You're in Genesis. 00:44:27.32\00:44:29.43 Run with me to the book of Exodus, and we're going to go 00:44:29.46\00:44:32.56 to chapter 1 of the book of Exodus. 00:44:32.66\00:44:34.87 Exodus chapter 1 and verse 13 00:44:38.25\00:44:42.78 and when you're there please say "Amen. " Amen. 00:44:44.84\00:44:46.88 The Bible says: "So the Egyptians made the children of 00:44:47.08\00:44:49.56 Israel serve with rigor. They made their lives bitter 00:44:49.66\00:44:53.13 with hard bondage in mortar and brick and in all manner of 00:44:53.34\00:44:56.36 service in the field. All their service in which they made them 00:44:56.46\00:44:59.59 serve was with rigor. Then the king of Egypt 00:44:59.69\00:45:02.26 spoke to the Hebrew midwives of whom the name of one was 00:45:02.36\00:45:05.14 Shiphrah and the name of another was Puah. 00:45:05.24\00:45:07.69 And he said: 'When you do the duties of a midwife 00:45:07.89\00:45:10.13 for the Hebew woman and see them on their birth stools 00:45:10.23\00:45:12.76 if it is a son then you shall... ' What? 00:45:12.96\00:45:15.50 'kill him but if it is a daughter then she shall live. ' 00:45:15.80\00:45:18.84 But the midwives... " What? "feared God and did not do 00:45:19.04\00:45:22.45 as the king of Egypt commanded them but saved the male children 00:45:22.55\00:45:26.69 alive. " What do you see here? 00:45:26.89\00:45:29.49 You basically see that there is a desire to take out who? 00:45:29.69\00:45:35.68 All of the male seeds of God's people. 00:45:36.08\00:45:39.71 Now who do you think was kind of inspiring Pharaoh 00:45:39.85\00:45:42.19 and his crew to carry out this edict? 00:45:42.29\00:45:44.58 It was Satan. Why? Because remember 00:45:44.98\00:45:46.86 every power has a spiritual power behind, manipulating 00:45:47.06\00:45:51.14 and influencing. And the reason why the Egyptians were trying to 00:45:51.24\00:45:55.19 take out the Hebrew male child was because 00:45:55.29\00:45:57.97 the serpent in Genesis 3:15 remembered that through the line 00:45:58.17\00:46:02.56 of the Hebrews the Seed will come 00:46:02.66\00:46:04.33 and eventually crush his head. 00:46:04.43\00:46:06.40 All throughout the Old Testament that's basically what you see. 00:46:06.60\00:46:09.24 You see that in Exodus chapter 1 00:46:09.44\00:46:11.44 and even in the story of Jacob and Esau. 00:46:11.64\00:46:14.22 How many of you guys remember the story of Jacob and Esau? 00:46:14.42\00:46:15.82 The two brothers, right? 00:46:16.02\00:46:18.21 There was Esau that was inspired by the evil one, yeah? 00:46:18.41\00:46:22.62 to come and to try to take out Jacob. Why? 00:46:22.76\00:46:26.36 Because remember, behind the mind of Esau was who? 00:46:26.66\00:46:30.38 Satan insinuating and inspiring to try to take out Jacob 00:46:30.78\00:46:34.71 because through Jacob was going to come what? 00:46:34.85\00:46:37.12 Was going to come the Seed. 00:46:37.32\00:46:38.84 That's basically what you see all throughout the Old Testament 00:46:39.04\00:46:41.66 and that's why Genesis 3:15 is a pivotal text in scripture. 00:46:41.76\00:46:45.29 Yeah? Jacob and Esau... we see this. 00:46:45.53\00:46:47.82 Run with me to I Samuel. 00:46:47.93\00:46:49.69 Another example of this is in I Samuel. 00:46:49.79\00:46:51.93 I Samuel chapter 17... this is a famous story. 00:46:53.67\00:46:57.08 We tend to read this to the children - children's story - 00:46:57.28\00:47:00.87 but we tend to not realize this can also be applicable 00:47:01.07\00:47:03.89 for grown-ups as well. 00:47:03.99\00:47:05.47 I Samuel chapter 17 and beginning in verse 47: 00:47:05.67\00:47:08.77 When you're there please say "Amen. " Amen. 00:47:10.65\00:47:12.52 This is talking about the show- down between David and Goliath. 00:47:12.62\00:47:16.05 Anybody familiar with this story? I think we all are. 00:47:16.25\00:47:19.03 "Then all this assembly... " in verse 47 00:47:19.26\00:47:21.56 "shall know that the Lord does not take with sword and spear 00:47:21.76\00:47:25.84 for the battle is the Lord's 00:47:26.04\00:47:27.59 and He will give you into our hands. 00:47:27.79\00:47:30.12 So it was when the Philistine arose and came and drew near 00:47:30.22\00:47:33.47 to meet David that David hurried and ran toward the army 00:47:33.57\00:47:36.16 to meet the Philistine. Then David put his hand in his bag 00:47:36.36\00:47:39.21 and took out a stone. 00:47:39.41\00:47:40.54 And he slung it and struck the Philistine in his forehead 00:47:40.75\00:47:43.93 so that the stone sank into his forehead 00:47:44.13\00:47:46.30 and he fell on his face to the earth. 00:47:46.50\00:47:48.56 So David prevailed over the Phillistine with a sling and 00:47:48.76\00:47:51.37 a stone and struck the Phillistine and killed him 00:47:51.47\00:47:53.57 for there was no sword in the hand of David. 00:47:53.77\00:47:56.19 Therefore David ran and stood over the Phillistine 00:47:56.39\00:47:58.71 took his sword and drew it out of his sheath 00:47:58.91\00:48:00.67 and killed him. And cut off his head with it. 00:48:00.77\00:48:03.30 And when the Philistines saw that their champion was dead 00:48:03.40\00:48:06.18 they fled. " So here you have Goliath and David. 00:48:06.38\00:48:10.97 Now who do you think was inspiring the mind of Goliath? 00:48:11.17\00:48:12.86 Pretty obvious, right? 00:48:14.25\00:48:15.85 Trying to attack David. Why? 00:48:16.05\00:48:17.30 Because through the line of David was going to come who? 00:48:17.40\00:48:19.40 The Seed. Very interesting. Who won the battle? 00:48:19.80\00:48:22.91 Little David, right? 00:48:23.31\00:48:26.20 And after David wins the battle 00:48:26.33\00:48:28.47 he actually takes the head off of his enemy, Goliath. 00:48:28.67\00:48:31.99 Isn't that interesting. 00:48:32.19\00:48:33.99 When you read in Genesis chapter 3 verse 15 00:48:34.19\00:48:35.89 where was the serpent going to receive his wound? 00:48:36.20\00:48:39.26 In his head. 00:48:39.66\00:48:41.44 Can you guys see the parallel there? 00:48:41.64\00:48:42.93 So in every story in the Bible you simply are seeing 00:48:43.13\00:48:46.18 a microcosm of the final show- down between Christ and Satan. 00:48:46.38\00:48:50.95 And we could go on and on on on. 00:48:51.15\00:48:53.13 But the point is that when you read every story in scripture 00:48:53.33\00:48:56.63 through the lens of Genesis 3:15 you will come to the conclusion 00:48:56.83\00:49:00.47 yeah? - that there is a spiritual war behind every 00:49:00.67\00:49:03.68 physical war and that in the end ultimately God wins. 00:49:03.78\00:49:08.23 And that's the purpose of prophecy 00:49:08.44\00:49:10.16 is to unveil who wins in the end. 00:49:10.19\00:49:12.64 And hopefully by showing you who's going to win in the end 00:49:12.84\00:49:15.44 you will put your faith on the winning team. Amen? 00:49:15.64\00:49:18.04 Revelation chapter 12... 00:49:18.24\00:49:19.60 If you come with me to Revelation chapter 12... 00:49:19.80\00:49:21.64 We see in Genesis chapter 3 that there's a woman. 00:49:21.84\00:49:24.49 We see her Seed. We see that there's emnity - 00:49:24.89\00:49:29.24 yeah? - and we see that there is a serpent. 00:49:29.44\00:49:31.58 Well when you read in Revelation chapter 12 you actually find 00:49:31.78\00:49:34.18 all of these element in Revelation chapter 12 as well. 00:49:34.28\00:49:37.03 Amen? When you go to Revelation chapter 12 00:49:37.14\00:49:39.82 beginning in verses 3 to 4 the Bible says: 00:49:39.92\00:49:42.66 "Another sign appeared in heaven. Behold, a great fiery 00:49:42.80\00:49:45.14 red dragon having seven heads and ten horns 00:49:45.24\00:49:47.13 and seven diadems on his head. 00:49:47.23\00:49:49.00 His tail drew a third of the stars of heaven 00:49:49.21\00:49:51.75 and threw them to the earth. 00:49:51.85\00:49:52.93 And the dragon stood before the woman who was 00:49:53.13\00:49:55.39 ready to give... " What? "birth. " 00:49:55.49\00:49:57.32 What is another way of saying this? 00:49:57.53\00:49:59.56 Basically, the woman was about to deliver the Seed. 00:49:59.76\00:50:04.87 Right? Her Seed was about to be born. 00:50:05.07\00:50:07.37 "to devour her child. " So the dragon was trying to 00:50:07.57\00:50:09.99 devour her child as soon as it was born. 00:50:10.09\00:50:11.61 Why was the dragon trying to devour her child? 00:50:11.81\00:50:13.52 Because he knew that through her the Seed was going to come 00:50:13.72\00:50:16.56 and finally crush his head. 00:50:16.66\00:50:18.82 "She bore a male child who was to rule all nations 00:50:19.02\00:50:22.82 with a rod of iron. And her child was caught up 00:50:22.92\00:50:25.10 to God and to His throne. " 00:50:25.20\00:50:26.93 So here you have the dragon trying to attack Jesus. 00:50:27.13\00:50:30.13 Now how did the dragon attack Jesus at His birth? 00:50:30.33\00:50:33.56 What power did he use? 00:50:33.76\00:50:35.00 Herod. And what did Herod do? 00:50:36.53\00:50:37.87 A death decree to take out all of the male children. 00:50:38.07\00:50:42.08 Does that sound familiar? We just read that in the book 00:50:42.18\00:50:43.71 of Exodus. You see that? It just literally repeats itself 00:50:43.81\00:50:46.86 because the devil's trying to do the same thing over and over 00:50:46.96\00:50:49.45 and over throughout every epoch of Bible history. 00:50:49.55\00:50:52.09 And he fails... he does not succeed. 00:50:52.29\00:50:54.88 So when you look at Revelation chapter 12 00:50:55.28\00:50:57.32 he fails at an attempt to attack the Seed. 00:50:57.52\00:51:00.21 So because he cannot attack the Seed any more 00:51:00.41\00:51:02.56 who does he take his anger out on? 00:51:02.66\00:51:04.41 The woman! You see that? 00:51:04.81\00:51:07.34 And not only does the woman have a Seed, right? 00:51:07.54\00:51:10.33 But also we read that the serpent also has a seed. 00:51:10.53\00:51:13.50 In this particular portion of scripture 00:51:13.70\00:51:16.67 the Seed of the woman is noneother than the man child 00:51:16.87\00:51:19.31 which of course was going to rule with a rod of iron 00:51:19.52\00:51:21.77 which is referring to Christ. 00:51:21.97\00:51:23.06 But who do you suppose the seed of the serpent is? 00:51:23.26\00:51:26.23 If it is not Christ it is antichrist. 00:51:27.48\00:51:32.23 And that's why all throughout scripture you have 00:51:32.43\00:51:35.37 God's people - the woman in the wilderness, yeah? - 00:51:35.57\00:51:37.84 And you have the beast power trying to kill the woman. 00:51:38.04\00:51:40.13 All you're basically seeing is an unfolding of Genesis 3:15. 00:51:40.33\00:51:44.51 That's all you're seeing over and over and over 00:51:44.71\00:51:47.29 and over again. 00:51:47.49\00:51:48.75 So you have the serpent, the woman, and the Seed of the 00:51:48.95\00:51:51.13 woman. And then in Revelation 12:17 that's why 00:51:51.23\00:51:53.61 the dragon is wroth. Because remember there's emnity; 00:51:53.71\00:51:57.07 there's beef; there's controversy. 00:51:57.27\00:51:58.97 And the devil knows that he has a short time 00:51:59.17\00:52:01.85 before his time is over. 00:52:02.05\00:52:04.41 I want to read a fascinating Bible passage to you. 00:52:04.72\00:52:07.73 Run with me to the book of Romans. 00:52:08.13\00:52:10.29 Romans chapter 16. 00:52:10.70\00:52:12.76 Because even though we know that in Genesis 3:15 00:52:12.96\00:52:16.31 it's talking about Christ, yeah? 00:52:16.41\00:52:18.25 And the picture that you have, of course, is that Christ 00:52:18.45\00:52:21.73 is about to step on the head of the serpent. 00:52:21.84\00:52:25.15 And in the process of course the serpent bruises the heel 00:52:25.36\00:52:28.89 of Christ but immediately after crushes the head of the serpent. 00:52:29.00\00:52:33.14 Well I ran into a text that really, really 00:52:33.35\00:52:36.14 intrigued me in Romans chapter 16. 00:52:36.24\00:52:37.90 Romans chapter 16, and when you're there please say "Amen. " 00:52:38.85\00:52:40.98 Amen. Verse 19: 00:52:41.08\00:52:42.73 "For your obedience... " the apostle Paul says 00:52:42.94\00:52:45.26 "has become known to all. 00:52:45.36\00:52:46.85 Therefore I am glad on your behalf. 00:52:47.25\00:52:49.99 But I want you to be wise in what is good 00:52:50.02\00:52:53.29 and simple concerning evil. " 00:52:53.49\00:52:56.41 Now listen carefully. 00:52:56.61\00:52:57.97 And the God of peace will crush... " 00:52:58.37\00:53:02.46 Who? "Satan. " Does that sound familiar? 00:53:02.66\00:53:05.86 Will crush Satan. But notice what it says under who. 00:53:06.06\00:53:09.35 "under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus 00:53:09.55\00:53:14.67 Christ be with you all. Amen. " 00:53:14.77\00:53:17.28 So we saw in Genesis 3:15 00:53:17.41\00:53:19.40 that the Seed - capital S - was going to crush 00:53:19.60\00:53:22.41 the head of the serpent. Yeah? 00:53:22.61\00:53:24.33 And was going to basically take him out. 00:53:24.54\00:53:26.35 But the Bible tells us that in Romans chapter 16 00:53:26.55\00:53:29.22 God wants to fulfill the prophecy of Genesis 3:15 00:53:29.42\00:53:34.36 in the life of His followers. Amen? 00:53:34.77\00:53:38.94 Question: When was it that Jesus successfully 00:53:39.08\00:53:42.35 crushed the head of the serpent? 00:53:42.55\00:53:43.82 When was it that the serpent bruised the heel of Jesus? 00:53:44.02\00:53:46.70 At Calvary at the cross, right? 00:53:47.11\00:53:49.51 Jesus said: "I, if I be lifted up, I will draw men unto Me. " 00:53:49.71\00:53:53.50 And He says the prince of this world is "judged. " 00:53:53.71\00:53:56.21 And He's referring, of course, to Satan himself. 00:53:56.41\00:53:58.38 That at the cross Satan was no longer - yeah? - 00:53:58.59\00:54:02.90 had the opportunity to go to heaven and to represent 00:54:03.10\00:54:08.68 planet earth because now at the cross 00:54:08.88\00:54:11.15 Christ became the rightful ruler of planet earth. Amen? 00:54:11.35\00:54:14.18 So Satan was confined to planet earth. 00:54:14.31\00:54:16.89 But of course at Calvary we're talking about 00:54:17.19\00:54:21.19 AD 31, yes? We're talking about something that took place 00:54:21.39\00:54:24.45 2,000 years ago. Is the serpent still alive? Yes or no? 00:54:24.65\00:54:27.78 He still is. So the question is: when is 00:54:28.08\00:54:30.55 Genesis 3:15 going to be fulfilled ultimately? 00:54:30.65\00:54:32.70 Romans chapter 16 tells us that God wants to ultimately fulfill 00:54:34.02\00:54:38.34 this prophecy with His believers. 00:54:38.54\00:54:43.05 There's three casting outs of Satan. 00:54:43.25\00:54:45.50 Satan was cast out in heaven; 00:54:45.70\00:54:47.38 he cast cast out at the cross... 00:54:47.69\00:54:49.85 he was confined to planet earth; 00:54:50.25\00:54:52.45 and finally by the grace of God he will be cast out 00:54:52.66\00:54:55.70 of the hearts of God's people. 00:54:55.90\00:54:58.54 And in Romans chapter 16 we are told 00:54:58.74\00:55:01.00 that God wants us to be wise in what is good 00:55:01.21\00:55:07.08 and simple concerning evil. And God - the God of peace - 00:55:07.28\00:55:10.89 will crush Satan under our feet shortly. 00:55:11.09\00:55:15.18 Somehow God is going to use His people 00:55:15.31\00:55:18.13 to vindicate His character. Amen? 00:55:18.33\00:55:20.43 And the same way that God was able to be victorious 00:55:20.63\00:55:23.79 over the serpent was going to Calvary. Yeah? 00:55:23.89\00:55:26.31 Because at Calvary is where you have the most 00:55:26.61\00:55:30.36 amazing, the most outrageous picture of the love of God. 00:55:30.56\00:55:34.02 One preacher says that the proof 00:55:34.12\00:55:38.58 that the Bible is inspired is Calvary. 00:55:38.79\00:55:43.02 And he says "because no sinner could make up such a beautiful 00:55:43.26\00:55:47.19 story. " And it's true. So when you look at the cross, 00:55:47.29\00:55:51.33 when you look at Calvary, what you're seeing is 00:55:51.53\00:55:53.33 the most beautiful language that heaven could communicate 00:55:53.54\00:55:57.17 to fallen man to basically communicate how serious 00:55:57.37\00:56:00.79 God is to fulfill the prophecy of Genesis 3:15. 00:56:00.99\00:56:03.85 But the point is that the way that Christ was able to 00:56:04.15\00:56:07.39 crush the head of the serpent was at Calvary. 00:56:07.50\00:56:09.92 Unfortunately the serpent is still roaming around, Amen? 00:56:10.32\00:56:13.20 and he's still creating havoc on the people of God. 00:56:13.60\00:56:16.55 So the million dollar question is: 00:56:16.85\00:56:19.08 how do we finally see the fulfillment of Genesis 3:15- 00:56:19.28\00:56:22.18 the first prophecy in the book of Genesis - 00:56:22.38\00:56:24.02 come to fruition? If it was at Calvary 00:56:24.22\00:56:26.76 where Christ crushed the head of the serpent 00:56:27.06\00:56:31.00 and Romans 16 tells us that God wants to crush 00:56:31.20\00:56:34.51 the head of the serpent under your feet, 00:56:34.71\00:56:37.01 where do you suppose we need to go 00:56:37.21\00:56:41.60 in order for God to crush the head of the serpent 00:56:41.80\00:56:45.62 under our feet? We need to go to Calvary, Amen? 00:56:45.82\00:56:49.67 God is wooing His people. 00:56:49.81\00:56:51.24 Genesis 3:15 is a promise of what Christ is going to do 00:56:51.34\00:56:54.23 at the cross but it's also a promise of what God is 00:56:54.43\00:56:56.88 going to do in your life as His follower. 00:56:57.08\00:56:59.06 Christ wants to use you - Amen? - to finally vindicate 00:56:59.26\00:57:02.73 His character. The only way that we're going to be able to 00:57:02.93\00:57:05.27 accomplish this is by coming to the foot of the cross. 00:57:05.37\00:57:08.85 The serpent is still alive today. 00:57:09.25\00:57:11.77 It's not until God's people embrace this prophecy 00:57:11.97\00:57:14.36 take His heart and say: "Lord, I want to see this prophecy 00:57:14.56\00:57:17.49 fulfilled in my life. " How many of you today want to see Jesus? 00:57:17.59\00:57:19.90 I want to go to Calvary 00:57:20.30\00:57:22.71 and I want You to crush the head of that serpent 00:57:22.91\00:57:27.07 under my feet. Raise your hand. 00:57:27.27\00:57:28.87
