chapter we have three parables,

There is a
parable of the lost sheep,

the parable of the lost coin

and the parable of the lost son

or the prodigal son.

Yes. Now some
Bibles have the headings

Well now my question
is, why couldn't we call

with you this evening on God,

the Father as a person.

Now we know he is.

Let me share
with you a statement.

It says, there are
those who think of the gospel,

think of it in
relation to themselves.

Well, what God has done for me?

About being
saved, forgiven so on,

which is correct. But
few think of the gospel's

relationship to
God and the suffering

it has brought to his heart.

The pain from
it's very inception

of sin has caused
pain in his heart.

You see there are
three levels of pain.

There's physical pain,

there's mental pain or anguish.

And then there is emotional pain

or heart pain.
Now of these three,

which one hurts the most?

Emotional pain,
pain of the heart.

Have you ever
thought of God the Father

suffering emotional pain?

A statement is
made of Jesus in that

wonderful book Desire of Ages.

It says Jesus
suffered in proportion

to his holiness by the rudeness

and crudeness of men.
Now what's the keyword

in that sentence? In-proportion.

He suffered
in-proportion to his holiness

by the rudeness
and crudeness of men.

And if that was true of
Jesus it is true with God.

Too often we say
well we know God suffers

but He is God, He can take it,

But he suffers in
proportion to his holiness.

There was not a
pain that is felt

that does not throb
in the Father's heart.

And so what Jesus does he begins

by illustrating his
Father's love and pain

what we call the prodigal son.

But we can also call a parable

teenager goes into his room

did the farm belong to?

what happened. Did
he sell half the farm,

to get the money, to
give to the younger son?

And is the older son
in-charge of the other half.

We don't know. Or
did he have to sell

some of the herd and
flocks to get the money?

Or did he have some investments

that he had to cash

The point is, as the
father was in the process

of doing this, how did he feel?

Oh! yes, it hurt. And
as we read a minute ago,

Who? The two
sons. Divided unto them.

But the father
stayed on the farm.

That's what happens many times.

And the son takes over the farm.

stays there in house.

The farm belongs to the son.
