Good morning, let us kneel for prayer. 00:00:12.60\00:00:14.40 Dear heavenly Father, we thank you for this opportunity. 00:00:20.60\00:00:24.40 We thank you for waking us up this morning. 00:00:24.40\00:00:27.43 I ask that you will please bless those who are 00:00:27.43\00:00:30.40 traveling in today, give them traveling mercies. 00:00:30.40\00:00:33.50 Thank you so much that we are here at GYC where 00:00:33.50\00:00:36.56 we can receive a blessing. 00:00:36.56\00:00:38.06 I ask you to please empty us of ourselves and fill us 00:00:38.06\00:00:41.56 with your Holy Spirit. 00:00:41.56\00:00:43.16 I pray especially that you will be with Sebastien this 00:00:43.16\00:00:46.83 morning, anoint his lips and help him to speak Your word. 00:00:46.83\00:00:50.46 Let him be a vessel for You. 00:00:50.46\00:00:52.70 Thank you so much for loving us, and dying on the cross 00:00:52.70\00:00:55.60 for us and we can't wait for that great GYC reunion 00:00:55.60\00:00:58.43 in heaven, in Your precious name, Amen! 00:00:58.43\00:01:01.93 Sebastien: Oh GYC do you love Jesus? 00:01:08.50\00:01:11.73 Audience: yes we love Jesus. 00:01:11.73\00:01:14.30 Sebastien: Are you sure you love Jesus? 00:01:14.30\00:01:16.70 Audience: we are sure we love Jesus. 00:01:16.70\00:01:19.06 Sebastien: And why do you love Jesus? 00:01:19.06\00:01:21.46 Audience: here's why we love Jesus. 00:01:21.46\00:01:23.80 Audience and Sebastien: because He first loved me, 00:01:23.80\00:01:27.43 that's the reason we all ought to love Him. 00:01:27.43\00:01:31.76 Audience and Sebastien: oh how I love Jesus 00:01:31.76\00:01:36.06 oh how I love Jesus, oh I love Jesus 00:01:36.06\00:01:45.66 because He first loved me. 00:01:45.66\00:01:50.86 How many of you, that's what made you get 00:01:50.86\00:01:52.86 at 6 in the morning? 00:01:52.86\00:01:54.03 Because you love Jesus right? Amen! 00:01:54.03\00:01:57.10 This morning I am going to share a message with you 00:01:57.10\00:02:01.13 entitled "But Now". But Now! 00:02:01.13\00:02:05.96 Before we jump into the message, and while the rest 00:02:05.96\00:02:09.50 of the latecomers are strolling in, I'm assuming with 00:02:09.50\00:02:12.76 their Bibles, I just want to ask you guys four favors. 00:02:12.76\00:02:15.96 Is that okay? Just four! 00:02:15.96\00:02:18.80 This will be something to help set the tone for our 00:02:20.43\00:02:24.46 meetings throughout the mornings. 00:02:24.46\00:02:26.80 My first request from you at GYC this morning is to 00:02:26.80\00:02:33.53 pray and be intentional about this not being 00:02:33.53\00:02:37.33 a regular meeting. 00:02:37.33\00:02:39.53 As GYC has been in existence for about eight years. 00:02:39.53\00:02:44.30 As an organization we exist to help ourselves not exist. 00:02:44.30\00:02:51.43 That is the reason why GYC exists. 00:02:51.43\00:02:54.13 It is a movement, and GYC as a movement therefore means 00:02:54.13\00:02:59.06 it is not an event. 00:02:59.06\00:03:00.83 It is not something that happens for five days at a 00:03:00.83\00:03:04.10 Convention Center while we stay in nice hotels eating 00:03:04.10\00:03:07.33 food that needs a lot of prayer. 00:03:07.33\00:03:10.16 I believe we can give them a chance this morning, 00:03:13.10\00:03:15.80 we will see what they have for us. Amen! 00:03:15.80\00:03:17.83 GYC is a movement, and what that means is we must always 00:03:17.83\00:03:23.90 be moving towards our goal, which is to finish God's work 00:03:23.90\00:03:29.93 in this generation. 00:03:29.93\00:03:31.66 If that is the goal, and if GYC is a movement, 00:03:31.66\00:03:35.83 then you are GYC. 00:03:35.83\00:03:38.00 GYC functions all year long, as long as the feet of young 00:03:38.00\00:03:44.20 people are fast about their Father's business. 00:03:44.20\00:03:47.36 Then GYC is a movement. 00:03:47.36\00:03:49.60 It's when you stop moving that GYC dies. 00:03:49.60\00:03:53.23 It's not when the conference ends, that is not when 00:03:53.23\00:03:57.00 GYC dies, GYC dies when your feet, as young people, 00:03:57.00\00:04:00.70 stop moving about your Father's business. 00:04:00.70\00:04:05.30 Thus I need two requests as my second favor. 00:04:05.30\00:04:09.83 There are too kinds of attendees. 00:04:09.83\00:04:12.80 There are those who have come to GYC for the first time. 00:04:12.80\00:04:17.90 For you my challenge is, you came as you are, we welcome 00:04:17.90\00:04:22.16 you as you are, but our prayer is that you will not stay 00:04:22.16\00:04:26.36 as you are. Audience: Amen! 00:04:26.36\00:04:28.30 We must always be seeking higher ground. 00:04:28.30\00:04:31.20 As a result of that, if this is your first GYC, pray in 00:04:31.20\00:04:35.30 your heart and be intentional in your mind that this 00:04:35.30\00:04:39.36 will not be a regular weekend. 00:04:39.36\00:04:41.76 I'm not going to go back to do more of the same. 00:04:41.76\00:04:44.33 It is not a mountain top experience, this is actually 00:04:44.33\00:04:47.86 the bottom of the mountain. 00:04:47.86\00:04:49.73 It's when you leave GYC that you understand spiritual 00:04:49.73\00:04:52.73 mountain climbing to the true mountaintop. 00:04:52.73\00:04:56.96 For those of you who have come to GYC before. 00:04:58.66\00:05:01.76 I know that for many of us who have attended for many 00:05:01.76\00:05:04.63 years, you can become disillusioned. 00:05:04.63\00:05:07.50 How many more GYC's do we have to have? 00:05:07.50\00:05:10.30 How many more great speakers can we come up with? 00:05:10.30\00:05:13.60 How many more great and powerful seminars do we need 00:05:13.60\00:05:16.70 to continue you to go through, for every generation? 00:05:16.70\00:05:20.16 We must be improving as a movement and that means for 00:05:20.16\00:05:23.60 those of you that attended for years, we need your 00:05:23.60\00:05:26.96 presence as well because God does not just use speakers 00:05:26.96\00:05:31.03 He also uses attendees. 00:05:31.03\00:05:33.80 Our young people, here in this place, for the next five 00:05:33.80\00:05:37.53 days, four days, who may not make it to morning or 00:05:37.53\00:05:42.76 evening devotions, for whatever reason. 00:05:42.76\00:05:45.33 But you will see them in the hallway. 00:05:45.33\00:05:47.83 They may be living in the room next to you. 00:05:47.83\00:05:51.90 Therefore God needs you to be an agent of change. 00:05:51.90\00:05:56.20 So with the theme "Unashamed" we have to leave behind 00:05:57.96\00:06:02.36 all the political correctness that keeps us bound from 00:06:02.36\00:06:06.50 being true to the calling that God has upon our lives. 00:06:06.50\00:06:10.33 If we are truly that generation, that means we must 00:06:10.33\00:06:14.13 be what no other generation was. 00:06:14.13\00:06:16.23 Not even Paul's generation. 00:06:16.23\00:06:19.66 So my challenge is, if you see a brother or sister doing 00:06:19.66\00:06:23.96 something that does not represent the spirit of Christ, 00:06:23.96\00:06:28.23 tap them on the shoulder and call them out. 00:06:28.23\00:06:32.43 If you see a young sister a little too close to a young 00:06:32.43\00:06:35.90 brother, tap them on the shoulder. Amen? 00:06:35.90\00:06:39.60 Tap them on the shoulder. 00:06:39.60\00:06:42.26 My third request and favor is that I hope that you guys 00:06:44.46\00:06:48.33 bring a pen and paper when you come to listen to the 00:06:48.33\00:06:52.16 Word of God. 00:06:52.16\00:06:53.73 We have this mindset that I have heard everything that 00:06:53.73\00:06:56.33 has ever been preached. 00:06:56.33\00:06:57.73 We have this mindset that what else could come 00:06:57.73\00:07:01.70 from this book? 00:07:01.70\00:07:03.70 But the truth of the matter is lives are continually 00:07:03.70\00:07:06.43 changed by the power of the Word of God. 00:07:06.43\00:07:08.66 That means for us to think arrogantly that we can get 00:07:08.66\00:07:12.63 nothing from when the Bible as being opened. 00:07:12.63\00:07:16.13 This is in actuality the thoughts of God being 00:07:16.13\00:07:19.60 expressed to humanity. 00:07:19.60\00:07:21.56 You cannot exhaust Him, so as my recommendation always 00:07:21.56\00:07:26.46 is, you take out a piece of paper, pen or pencil and 00:07:26.46\00:07:30.00 ask yourself three questions about every sermon. 00:07:30.00\00:07:33.23 It helps me as a preacher, some sermons are hard to 00:07:33.23\00:07:36.43 listen to. Amen? 00:07:36.43\00:07:39.50 Maybe you guys don't know what I'm talking about. 00:07:39.50\00:07:41.76 Maybe your pastor is the most dynamic speaker in 00:07:41.76\00:07:44.00 North America. 00:07:44.00\00:07:45.56 Three questions you want to ask yourself. 00:07:45.56\00:07:48.23 Number 1. what is it that I heard in this sermon 00:07:48.23\00:07:52.93 that I have never heard before? 00:07:52.93\00:07:55.90 You are always going to learn something new. 00:07:55.90\00:07:58.86 Second question, where was my mind when the Word of God 00:07:58.86\00:08:04.70 was being preached? 00:08:04.70\00:08:06.46 Now you know sometimes you listen to the Bible being 00:08:06.46\00:08:09.40 preached and your mind starts wandering, yes? 00:08:09.40\00:08:11.36 You don't know why, maybe you ate that pizza too late. 00:08:11.36\00:08:14.86 Or you were hanging out with your friends strong last 00:08:14.86\00:08:18.30 night, but your mind starts wandering. 00:08:18.30\00:08:20.70 That is not a negative thing, you need to write that down 00:08:20.70\00:08:23.56 because even though the preacher may be talking about 00:08:23.56\00:08:26.76 "But Now", the Holy Spirit is trying to talk to you about 00:08:26.76\00:08:29.93 your relationship. 00:08:29.93\00:08:31.93 Where two or three are gathered, they He is 00:08:31.93\00:08:34.26 in the midst of them. 00:08:34.26\00:08:35.53 God has a message for every single person seated here. 00:08:35.53\00:08:39.23 Where was your mind when the word of God 00:08:41.20\00:08:43.50 was being preached? 00:08:43.50\00:08:45.43 And lastly, what am I going to do now, 00:08:45.43\00:08:49.93 that I've heard this message? 00:08:49.93\00:08:54.06 Specific action. 00:08:54.06\00:08:56.16 You know when you look at creation, which is in question 00:08:56.16\00:09:02.86 right now, we say that God created the world by His word. 00:09:02.86\00:09:09.36 That means that the Word of God always produces action. 00:09:09.36\00:09:15.13 Amen? So that means we live in a world right now that 00:09:15.13\00:09:20.86 when God spoke to a whale to swallow a man 00:09:20.86\00:09:23.60 and not digest him. 00:09:23.60\00:09:25.66 When God speaks to a donkey, it will open its mouth. 00:09:25.66\00:09:28.53 When God tells the Sun to stop while Joshua was fighting, 00:09:28.53\00:09:32.13 the sun stopped. 00:09:32.13\00:09:34.40 But there is one part of creation that keeps the power 00:09:34.40\00:09:39.20 that is within the Word of God captive. 00:09:39.20\00:09:41.96 That is humanity. 00:09:41.96\00:09:43.80 God can speak to us and we will do nothing. 00:09:43.80\00:09:46.83 Simply because He is bound by the will. 00:09:46.83\00:09:49.80 We must choose to surrender to the Word of God. 00:09:49.80\00:09:53.76 Everything that is in opposition to the Word of God. 00:09:53.76\00:09:56.73 So your third question is, what am I going to do now 00:09:58.76\00:10:03.20 that I have heard this message? 00:10:03.20\00:10:06.00 My last request is about a four letter word, anybody 00:10:06.00\00:10:12.46 know what I am thinking? 00:10:12.46\00:10:14.16 No, it is not to pray, but you should do that for me, 00:10:14.16\00:10:17.50 the entire time. 00:10:17.50\00:10:20.13 Okay, the four letter word starts with an A, M, 00:10:21.86\00:10:27.40 Oh, Amen! Oh Amen! 00:10:27.40\00:10:31.46 I want to reiterate something Justin said last night. 00:10:31.46\00:10:35.10 Amen is not a black word, Amen. 00:10:35.10\00:10:37.13 Audience: Amen! 00:10:37.13\00:10:38.90 I go to preach at black churches, and I just stand up. 00:10:38.90\00:10:41.00 Amen! I didn't say anything. 00:10:41.00\00:10:43.46 God bless my brothers and sisters, but it is important 00:10:45.20\00:10:49.96 for us to recognize that at the end, in the book of 00:10:49.96\00:10:54.70 Revelation, when the victory comes. 00:10:54.70\00:10:56.23 All creation black, white, Hispanic, Asian, whatever 00:10:56.23\00:11:00.30 you come from, before the flood, after the flood, 00:11:00.30\00:11:03.56 if you were righteous and you got the victory through 00:11:03.56\00:11:06.80 Jesus Christ there is one word that will come 00:11:06.80\00:11:08.96 out of every mouth, that will be Amen. 00:11:08.96\00:11:11.63 So that means it is not a cultural word. 00:11:11.63\00:11:14.23 Amen, the first time it is used in the Bible is in the 00:11:14.23\00:11:17.46 book of Numbers, chapter 5. 00:11:17.46\00:11:19.56 Unfortunately regarding a wife that was unfaithful 00:11:19.56\00:11:22.23 to her husband. 00:11:22.23\00:11:23.70 The priest was to take her to the gate of the camp, 00:11:23.70\00:11:27.03 pronounced a curse, and she was supposed to respond 00:11:27.03\00:11:30.30 by saying, Amen! which means so let it be 00:11:30.30\00:11:34.10 as you have said. 00:11:34.10\00:11:35.93 So if there is something that comes from the message that 00:11:35.93\00:11:41.66 resonates with your heart. 00:11:41.66\00:11:43.30 Something that you are saying, I want what that man or 00:11:43.30\00:11:46.30 that woman just said, so let it be unto me as they have said. 00:11:46.30\00:11:50.40 Then you say, Amen! 00:11:50.40\00:11:53.50 If there is something in the message that stepped on 00:11:53.50\00:11:55.83 your toes, and you are like oow, I'm going 00:11:55.83\00:11:59.13 to have to give that up. 00:11:59.13\00:12:00.73 You know you need to say, Amen, so let it be as you have 00:12:00.73\00:12:04.13 said unto your servant. 00:12:04.13\00:12:06.73 Amen? Audience: Amen! 00:12:06.73\00:12:09.23 so from the left, from the right, down the middle, 00:12:09.23\00:12:12.46 I'm a preacher that likes conversation. 00:12:12.46\00:12:16.06 So please do not withhold your Amen's. 00:12:16.06\00:12:19.63 Let's pray. 00:12:19.63\00:12:21.80 Mighty God, everlasting Father, we thank you for the gift 00:12:25.03\00:12:31.20 of life and we know it is not because we were so 00:12:31.20\00:12:35.40 righteous yesterday that You gave us life today. 00:12:35.40\00:12:39.56 But it is because Your Word says that Your mercies are 00:12:39.56\00:12:43.70 new every morning and great is Your faithfulness that 00:12:43.70\00:12:47.73 even when we do not believe, yet God abides faithful 00:12:47.73\00:12:51.70 for He cannot deny Himself. 00:12:51.70\00:12:53.66 Father your mercies endure forever and we are praying 00:12:53.66\00:12:58.93 for this one meeting that You will help us by the 00:12:58.93\00:13:03.03 power of Your Holy Spirit, that this will not be a 00:13:03.03\00:13:07.10 regular meeting. 00:13:07.10\00:13:08.56 That You will travel from heart-to-heart, and from 00:13:08.56\00:13:12.50 mind to mind impressing upon the soul the message that 00:13:12.50\00:13:16.40 You have for that one heart. 00:13:16.40\00:13:18.23 That we may all obtain higher ground and to develop 00:13:18.23\00:13:22.60 a Christ-like spirit that is unashamed. 00:13:22.60\00:13:27.30 Teach us Lord as we read Your word and take this Your 00:13:29.83\00:13:33.66 manservant, whom you know is but dust in Your sight 00:13:33.66\00:13:37.43 and breathe upon him the breath of God and 00:13:37.43\00:13:40.36 fill him with thy favor. 00:13:40.36\00:13:42.63 This is our prayer, and we ask You that it be our experience 00:13:42.63\00:13:49.06 for we ask in Jesus name, Amen! 00:13:49.06\00:13:51.60 If you have your Bibles with you, turn with me to the book 00:13:51.60\00:13:55.10 2 Samuel chapter 12. 00:13:55.10\00:13:57.20 2 Samuel chapter 12, when you are there say, Amen! 00:13:57.20\00:14:01.20 If you are not there say, have mercy. 00:14:01.20\00:14:03.86 2 Samuel 12:1, are you there? Amen! 00:14:06.50\00:14:12.00 Audience: Amen! 00:14:12.00\00:14:14.16 This is what the word of God says, "and the Lord sent" 00:14:15.46\00:14:20.50 "Nathan unto David. And he came unto him and said unto" 00:14:20.50\00:14:25.20 "him, there were two men in one city; the one rich, and" 00:14:25.20\00:14:29.73 "the other poor. 2. The rich man had exceeding many" 00:14:29.73\00:14:34.20 "flocks and herds: 3. But the poor man had nothing, save" 00:14:34.20\00:14:38.16 "one little ewe lamb, which he had bought and nourished" 00:14:38.16\00:14:41.70 "up: and he grew up together with him, and with his" 00:14:41.70\00:14:45.36 "children; it did eat of his own meat, and drank of his" 00:14:45.36\00:14:49.00 "own cup, and lay in his bosom, and was unto him" 00:14:49.00\00:14:52.33 "as a daughter. " 00:14:52.33\00:14:54.26 Sounds like the way we treat pets in America, right! 00:14:54.26\00:14:56.60 I know some people do treat their pets better than their 00:14:56.60\00:14:58.93 children. I was like mercy. 00:14:58.93\00:15:02.20 But apparently it is not a new concept. 00:15:02.20\00:15:04.33 Verse 5, "and David's anger was greatly kindled against" 00:15:04.33\00:15:08.90 "the man; and he said to Nathan, as the Lord liveth, the" 00:15:08.90\00:15:13.46 "man that has done this thing shall surely die. " 00:15:13.46\00:15:17.20 6. "And he shall restore the lamb fourfold, because he" 00:15:17.20\00:15:22.30 "did this thing, and because he had no pity. " 00:15:22.30\00:15:25.40 7. "And Nathan said to David, thou art the man. Thus" 00:15:25.40\00:15:29.73 "saith the Lord God of Israel, I anointed thee King over" 00:15:29.73\00:15:33.60 "Israel, and I delivered thee out of the hand of Saul;" 00:15:33.60\00:15:37.36 Now we know that the situation that is coming by the 00:15:37.36\00:15:41.43 prophet Nathan has followed David's sin with Bathsheba 00:15:41.43\00:15:45.46 and his desire to cover it up. 00:15:45.46\00:15:47.53 We find now that Nathan comes, and this seems to be a 00:15:47.53\00:15:51.60 precedent in the life of David, that he gets rebuked 00:15:51.60\00:15:55.56 under stories, people tell him a story and he responds to 00:15:55.56\00:15:59.43 the story and then the prophet, or the person will say, 00:15:59.43\00:16:03.26 you are the person who is guilty of the very 00:16:03.26\00:16:05.63 thing in this story. 00:16:05.63\00:16:07.43 He comes and he says, you know David you were a shepherd 00:16:07.43\00:16:10.96 boy, there were two men in one city. 00:16:10.96\00:16:14.06 One man, a rich man, had many flocks and herds. 00:16:14.06\00:16:19.13 That means he had multiple groups of sheep, but at the 00:16:19.13\00:16:22.76 same token this one gentleman, a poor man, he only had 00:16:22.76\00:16:26.43 one lamb and that lamb was so precious to him that it 00:16:26.43\00:16:30.06 grew up as if it was one of his own children. 00:16:30.06\00:16:32.40 When a traveler came in, it was the custom of hospitality 00:16:34.33\00:16:38.23 in the Old Testament, they wanted to prepare 00:16:38.23\00:16:41.20 something for this wayward traveler. 00:16:41.20\00:16:43.63 The rich man looking over his many flocks and herds, 00:16:43.63\00:16:47.73 he said to himself, you know, I don't want to use any 00:16:47.73\00:16:51.80 of my sheep, I'm going to go get his sheep. 00:16:51.80\00:16:55.63 So he takes the one man's lamb, and as he takes this 00:16:55.63\00:17:00.60 man's lamb he kills it, and feeds the traveler. 00:17:00.60\00:17:03.80 And David's response is complete utter shock. 00:17:03.80\00:17:06.93 As a shepherd, we are talking about a man who will 00:17:06.93\00:17:09.10 fight a bear to defend his sheep. 00:17:09.10\00:17:11.40 We are talking about a young man who will wrestle down 00:17:11.40\00:17:14.63 a lion to defend his sheep. 00:17:14.63\00:17:18.03 So you can only imagine how precious and heartfelt 00:17:18.03\00:17:22.40 this is for David. 00:17:22.40\00:17:24.30 He responds with this condemnation in 2 Samuel 12. 00:17:24.30\00:17:28.76 David says, as surely as God lives, the man who did this 00:17:28.76\00:17:34.43 thing shall surely die. 00:17:34.43\00:17:36.66 Now it is interesting, the Old Testament, in the book of 00:17:36.66\00:17:40.10 Exodus, tells us that if you steal a man's lamb you only 00:17:40.10\00:17:43.40 have to restore fourfold, it is not worthy of death. 00:17:43.40\00:17:46.63 But yet we find that with David, he goes beyond the 00:17:48.20\00:17:51.96 condemnation of God. 00:17:51.96\00:17:53.86 He is harsher on this particular crime, 00:17:53.86\00:17:56.43 than God Himself is. 00:17:56.43\00:17:58.90 It is interesting because the next verse says David, you 00:17:58.90\00:18:01.83 saw just how you condemned this man, well guess what? 00:18:01.83\00:18:04.70 You're the man, you're the man. 00:18:04.70\00:18:09.50 We live in a time where you're the man doesn't have any 00:18:09.50\00:18:13.00 negative connotations. 00:18:13.00\00:18:15.00 They come up and say will brother Sebastien I heard your 00:18:15.00\00:18:18.20 preaching, you're the man, no Jesus is the man. Amen! 00:18:18.20\00:18:22.16 Jesus is the man, but in David's case I want to add a 00:18:22.16\00:18:26.13 different definition to, that your the man. 00:18:26.13\00:18:28.93 You see often times we are harsher upon the evil we see 00:18:28.93\00:18:32.96 in others then we are in our own lives. 00:18:32.96\00:18:35.53 We sit down and we watch CNN. 00:18:35.53\00:18:37.80 We open up the newspaper, we heard some stories from the 00:18:37.80\00:18:41.13 mission fields about the kinds of evil and wickedness 00:18:41.13\00:18:44.43 that exists in the world. 00:18:44.43\00:18:45.93 We sit back like David listening to the Jerusalem news, 00:18:45.93\00:18:49.36 a man stole another man's lamb. 00:18:49.36\00:18:51.40 We are like, man this guy should be killed. 00:18:52.90\00:18:55.40 Then the message comes back to you and immediately 00:18:56.80\00:18:58.96 says you're the man. 00:18:58.96\00:19:01.23 We read about the fact that this genocide that happened 00:19:01.23\00:19:05.60 in Rwanda, if you just pick up one book to read the 00:19:05.60\00:19:09.50 stories of what the men did to other men, men did to 00:19:09.50\00:19:13.40 other women, and you see the evil that was in 00:19:13.40\00:19:17.50 the heart of individuals. 00:19:17.50\00:19:19.10 They said they looked at the genocide as a 9-to-5 job. 00:19:19.10\00:19:23.20 Get up at 9 and go out killing till 5 PM and come back. 00:19:23.20\00:19:27.30 1 million people died in less than 100 days. 00:19:27.30\00:19:31.33 We look at that and say, look at this gross evil. 00:19:31.33\00:19:34.93 The fact that all these nations did not intervene, 00:19:34.93\00:19:38.53 we condemn the evil that we see around us, 00:19:38.53\00:19:41.80 but what do we do about the evil in our own hearts? 00:19:41.80\00:19:44.90 We are often harsher, and when you see the wickedness 00:19:44.90\00:19:47.80 in that man, when you see the wickedness in that woman, 00:19:47.80\00:19:50.63 do you see that you are the man? 00:19:50.63\00:19:52.70 You see friends what we are talking about is this, 00:19:52.70\00:19:56.26 what caused them to commit this genocide in Rwanda? 00:19:58.06\00:20:02.46 What caused the heart of Hitler to rise up and decide to 00:20:02.46\00:20:05.66 kill millions of Jews? 00:20:05.66\00:20:08.00 What caused Stalin to cause the death of these people? 00:20:08.00\00:20:10.90 It was a three letter word called sin. 00:20:10.90\00:20:12.63 If that is what sin leads to, and sin is in me, 00:20:12.63\00:20:17.43 then you're the man. 00:20:17.43\00:20:20.06 We think because our sins are not as gross, 00:20:20.06\00:20:23.23 God is showing His distaste for sin. 00:20:23.23\00:20:26.36 In our own hatred of the evil in others, every time we 00:20:26.36\00:20:30.16 look at the news, every time we cracked the newspaper, 00:20:30.16\00:20:33.90 He says gets what, he grew up in a good Christian 00:20:33.90\00:20:36.13 home just like you. 00:20:36.13\00:20:38.30 He went to a nice good Academy and school just like you. 00:20:38.30\00:20:42.93 What happened to him? 00:20:42.93\00:20:45.70 To me that is why Timothy McVeigh, blowing up this 00:20:45.70\00:20:50.70 building in Oklahoma city, with such a big deal to America, 00:20:50.70\00:20:53.40 because we thought terrorist are out there. 00:20:53.40\00:20:55.66 Terrorist are out there and that is exactly our 00:20:58.30\00:21:01.70 mentality in the church. 00:21:01.70\00:21:04.06 The greatest opposition that comes in the church, 00:21:04.06\00:21:07.56 tends to be within the church. 00:21:07.56\00:21:10.40 Can you say Amen? Audience: Amen! 00:21:10.40\00:21:13.13 Somewhere and someplace in some office sin has taken hold 00:21:13.13\00:21:16.83 of a man or a woman. 00:21:16.83\00:21:19.26 We may condemn the actions of a pastor, we may condemn 00:21:19.26\00:21:23.53 the actions of an elder or another church member, 00:21:23.53\00:21:25.90 but here comes back to you. 00:21:25.90\00:21:27.56 Be it a Nathan, 2009, you are the man. 00:21:27.56\00:21:31.00 You are the man. 00:21:31.00\00:21:33.60 I remember listening to this illustration about a wealthy 00:21:33.60\00:21:37.43 businessman, he was listening to an apologist, 00:21:37.43\00:21:39.26 Robbie Zacharias. 00:21:39.26\00:21:41.53 Him and Robbie had a meeting, and Robbie was recounting 00:21:41.53\00:21:44.70 this meeting, and he said he sat down with this wealthy 00:21:44.70\00:21:48.03 businessman, and Robbie's presentation was about the fact 00:21:48.03\00:21:51.33 in order for you to believe right and wrong, 00:21:51.33\00:21:53.86 you have to believe in God. 00:21:53.86\00:21:55.26 You can't ground morality without God. 00:21:55.26\00:21:58.23 So the wealthy businessman looks at Robbie across the 00:21:58.23\00:22:00.96 table and says, you know I want to believe there is 00:22:00.96\00:22:03.50 right and wrong, I want to believe that there is evil 00:22:03.50\00:22:06.00 in the world but I don't want to have to believe 00:22:06.00\00:22:07.70 in God to believe that. 00:22:07.70\00:22:10.13 As he is going on and on his assistant was sitting by. 00:22:12.13\00:22:15.83 His assistant looked at the wealthy businessman and he 00:22:15.83\00:22:19.16 said, I hear you're talking about the evils around you. 00:22:19.16\00:22:22.46 I hear you talking about the evils in society. 00:22:22.46\00:22:25.80 But what do you do about the evil in your own heart? 00:22:25.80\00:22:30.90 The man paused for a moment, and he said I guess 00:22:30.90\00:22:35.96 when I committed it is a victimless act. 00:22:35.96\00:22:40.30 Robbie, providing the proper logical kill, told the story 00:22:40.30\00:22:45.86 of a prime minister in Japan who had committed suicide. 00:22:45.86\00:22:51.36 When his wife woke up in the morning she saw a book open 00:22:53.23\00:22:56.40 on their table, De Profundis by Oscar Wilde. 00:22:56.40\00:22:59.90 He had these words underlined, "as terrible as it has" 00:22:59.90\00:23:05.06 "been, what I have done to others, nothing was as" 00:23:05.06\00:23:10.20 "terrible as what I had done to myself. " 00:23:10.20\00:23:13.00 Evil is not victimless, can you say Amen? Audience: Amen! 00:23:13.00\00:23:16.93 You may think that you can sit at your computer and watch 00:23:16.93\00:23:20.83 your pornography by yourself, but the Bible talks about 00:23:20.83\00:23:24.70 those who oppose themselves is in 2 Timothy chapter 2. 00:23:24.70\00:23:28.50 He talks about you that sin against me. 00:23:28.50\00:23:31.06 You are sinning against yourself. 00:23:31.06\00:23:33.00 Sin hurts God because it is self-destructive. 00:23:33.00\00:23:36.90 Are you hearing me? 00:23:36.90\00:23:39.03 So you have in this concept, we need to look at the evils 00:23:39.03\00:23:43.30 around us, this will change the dynamics of how we 00:23:43.30\00:23:46.03 interact as a church. 00:23:46.03\00:23:47.73 When we see a brother or sister make a mistake, 00:23:47.73\00:23:50.06 we see an individual having this weakness, we say oh, I look 00:23:50.06\00:23:53.96 at them and the fingers come back, you're the man. 00:23:53.96\00:23:57.10 Sin is in you. 00:23:57.10\00:24:00.33 My question is, is there a change that you are seeking in 00:24:02.33\00:24:05.96 your heart this morning? 00:24:05.96\00:24:07.70 Is there a change that you are seeking in your life? 00:24:07.70\00:24:11.00 And the most fundamental question, I believe, 00:24:11.00\00:24:14.23 to this generation of post-modernism, 00:24:14.23\00:24:16.96 how does one change the longings of the human heart? 00:24:16.96\00:24:20.76 We are a generation about being real. 00:24:20.76\00:24:23.46 We are generation about being open. 00:24:23.46\00:24:26.06 It's come to the place now where we are saying, you know 00:24:26.06\00:24:28.40 what, we're just honest, we are wicked inside. 00:24:28.40\00:24:31.13 And you know what we now give people virtue for being honest 00:24:31.13\00:24:34.93 about being sinful, well at least he is being real. 00:24:34.93\00:24:38.96 That is what we say, at least he is being real. 00:24:38.96\00:24:42.96 Yet he is being real, real wicked. 00:24:42.96\00:24:45.40 The fact that a person is being honest about their sin 00:24:45.40\00:24:49.16 does not justify it, it does not give it any merit. 00:24:49.16\00:24:52.90 Now we do need some more authenticity in the church, 00:24:52.90\00:24:56.60 but that is for another sermon. 00:24:56.60\00:24:58.40 My question is this, we have all these recommendations 00:25:00.30\00:25:03.10 for how we believe the human heart can be changed. 00:25:03.10\00:25:06.63 Are we really going to change the human heart by 00:25:06.63\00:25:10.10 education? Audience: no. 00:25:10.10\00:25:12.90 Is it really going to be sitting in a classroom listening 00:25:12.90\00:25:15.50 to someone teach me about the history of hatred, that is 00:25:15.50\00:25:18.10 going to make me stop hating? 00:25:18.10\00:25:19.93 Are you really going to deal with my lust by publishing 00:25:19.93\00:25:23.60 physiological books on sexuality? 00:25:23.60\00:25:26.23 Are you really going to do with my pride by talking to me 00:25:26.23\00:25:29.36 about Napoleon at Waterloo? 00:25:29.36\00:25:31.73 Friends, Jesus is the only cure for the evils in society. 00:25:33.16\00:25:37.16 And Ellen White says this, hanging on the cross Christ 00:25:37.16\00:25:41.16 was the gospel. 00:25:41.16\00:25:43.86 How can you be unashamed of the only cure for 00:25:43.86\00:25:47.20 the evils of society? 00:25:47.20\00:25:49.40 How can we be ashamed? 00:25:51.36\00:25:53.30 My belief is this, because we have not experienced that 00:25:53.30\00:25:58.46 change, deep down we don't really believe 00:25:58.46\00:26:02.30 Jesus can change people. 00:26:02.30\00:26:04.66 Deep down we don't really believe that Jesus can bring 00:26:04.66\00:26:08.40 a person from here to here. 00:26:08.40\00:26:11.43 From darkness to light, from blindness to sight, from the 00:26:11.43\00:26:16.50 power of Satan unto the power of God. 00:26:16.50\00:26:19.20 But the first place to start is within your own heart. 00:26:20.63\00:26:23.90 If there is a change that you are seeking this morning, 00:26:25.40\00:26:28.26 this is the time to get it changed. 00:26:28.26\00:26:31.16 Turn with me in your Bibles to the book of John 20. 00:26:32.53\00:26:36.40 Gospel of John chapter 20 when you are there say Amen. 00:26:36.40\00:26:39.83 Audience: Amen! If you are not there, say have mercy. 00:26:42.20\00:26:44.50 John chapter 20, are you there? Audience: Amen! 00:26:46.23\00:26:51.63 notice with me verse 30 and 31. 00:26:51.63\00:26:54.66 "And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence" 00:27:00.30\00:27:03.66 "of his disciples, which are not written in this book:" 00:27:03.66\00:27:07.40 "but these are written, that you might believe that" 00:27:07.40\00:27:11.06 "Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God: and that believing" 00:27:11.06\00:27:15.40 "ye might have life through His name. " 00:27:15.40\00:27:18.70 Now it's interesting that John puts this at the 00:27:18.70\00:27:21.63 end of his gospel. 00:27:21.63\00:27:23.33 You pick up the Bible for the first time, someone tells 00:27:23.33\00:27:26.46 you that Ellen White talks about reading the Gospel John as 00:27:26.46\00:27:29.56 a good place to start. 00:27:29.56\00:27:31.06 You start reading the Gospel of John and as you are 00:27:31.06\00:27:33.56 plowing through one, two, three, four, five, all the way 00:27:33.56\00:27:36.16 to chapter 20 and now boom, he lays it on you. 00:27:36.16\00:27:39.33 Oh, by the way this is the point of my Gospel. 00:27:39.33\00:27:42.43 So now you have to go back and read the gospel with new 00:27:42.43\00:27:46.43 eyes, so you wonder why certain stories are not in John's 00:27:46.43\00:27:50.40 Gospel that are in Matthew's Gospel. 00:27:50.40\00:27:52.70 Why is it that certain accounts are not found 00:27:52.70\00:27:55.30 in John's Gospel? 00:27:55.30\00:27:56.70 Well John says in verse 30, he says and many other signs 00:27:56.70\00:28:00.40 truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples which are 00:28:00.40\00:28:04.10 not written in this book. 00:28:04.10\00:28:05.96 Which means my Gospel is not a historical account. 00:28:07.20\00:28:10.30 I wasn't trying to catalog history. 00:28:10.30\00:28:13.20 I wasn't trying to necessarily count from prophecy to 00:28:13.20\00:28:17.26 the fulfillment in the experience of Jesus. 00:28:17.26\00:28:20.30 The purpose of my Gospel, he says, but these are written 00:28:20.30\00:28:25.03 that you might believe that Jesus is the Christ, 00:28:25.03\00:28:28.66 the Son of the living God. 00:28:28.66\00:28:30.16 If this is the purpose of John's Gospel, every single 00:28:30.16\00:28:34.53 story, every single passage, every single encounter in 00:28:34.53\00:28:38.70 Jesus' life, He is trying to say this is why you should 00:28:38.70\00:28:42.03 believe, this is why you should believe that Jesus is the 00:28:42.03\00:28:45.33 Christ and that in believing you and I may have 00:28:45.33\00:28:48.60 life through His name. 00:28:48.60\00:28:50.16 John says faith is not an intellectual assent alone. 00:28:50.16\00:28:54.33 Faith does not just belong in a dogma or doctrine. 00:28:54.33\00:28:58.46 Faith does not just belong in a creed. 00:28:58.46\00:29:01.20 Faith belongs in an individual. 00:29:01.20\00:29:03.56 Faith belongs in Christ. 00:29:03.56\00:29:06.33 And because faith is for a person, and I'm trying to get 00:29:06.33\00:29:11.46 you to believe in a person, John says. 00:29:11.46\00:29:14.03 I'm trying to get you to believe in a man who can flip 00:29:14.03\00:29:16.93 tables and receive children with the same hands. 00:29:16.93\00:29:19.80 That is what I am trying to get you to believe in, 00:29:19.80\00:29:22.66 that He is the Christ. 00:29:22.66\00:29:24.43 So that means that when you look at John's Gospel, he is 00:29:26.00\00:29:29.63 building a case in an argument from story to story, from 00:29:29.63\00:29:33.00 person-to-person, this is why you should believe it, 00:29:33.00\00:29:36.33 that Jesus is the Christ. 00:29:36.33\00:29:38.33 But I believe friends that more than any other gospel, 00:29:40.30\00:29:45.33 John records the ability of Jesus to change lives. 00:29:45.33\00:29:49.66 It has some of the most accounts of Jesus' one-on-one 00:29:49.66\00:29:53.96 encounters with individuals in His ministry. 00:29:53.96\00:29:57.16 Okay, just to do a quick overview. 00:29:57.16\00:29:59.13 We meet in Chapter 3 Nicodemus, the Pharisee. 00:29:59.13\00:30:03.46 Then we go and see that Nicodemus was wealthy and 00:30:03.46\00:30:07.73 well respected and knowledgeable. 00:30:07.73\00:30:09.56 You go to women of Samaria an outcast, the downtrodden. 00:30:09.56\00:30:13.20 You deal with the man at the pool of Bethesda, 00:30:13.20\00:30:15.86 completely hopeless. 00:30:15.86\00:30:18.36 Then the woman caught in adultery, the guilty. 00:30:18.36\00:30:20.60 The blind man, the helpless. 00:30:20.60\00:30:22.63 Lazarus, the apparently irreversible. 00:30:22.63\00:30:25.26 Jesus comes in and changes individual lives. 00:30:26.96\00:30:30.83 What we find here, this becomes the greatest argument 00:30:30.83\00:30:34.43 for Christ, His ability to change lives. 00:30:34.43\00:30:37.03 Because they can argue for post-modernism, 00:30:37.03\00:30:39.60 they can argue for evolution, 00:30:39.60\00:30:41.40 they can argue for all these different things in 00:30:41.40\00:30:43.73 theories, but the point is deep down every heart 00:30:43.73\00:30:46.00 seeks to change. 00:30:46.00\00:30:47.63 Every heart has habits they want to break, 00:30:47.63\00:30:49.66 evolution won't do it. 00:30:49.66\00:30:51.90 Every heart has something, you can get a PhD in 00:30:51.90\00:30:54.83 psychology and still not deal with your mental problems. 00:30:54.83\00:30:58.16 Because Christ, John says, is the One. 00:30:58.16\00:31:02.80 My question is, has God changed your life? 00:31:02.80\00:31:07.36 Would your story make it in the, these are written category 00:31:09.86\00:31:13.06 so that you might believe? 00:31:15.13\00:31:16.43 Are you an argument for the Messiahship of Jesus, 00:31:17.90\00:31:24.26 that He is the Christ? 00:31:24.26\00:31:27.00 Is there someplace in the diary of your experience where 00:31:29.10\00:31:33.43 God has changed your life? 00:31:33.43\00:31:35.00 I want to look at one story in the gospel of John, 00:31:35.00\00:31:38.30 which is where we are going to finish. 00:31:38.30\00:31:40.50 Go with me to John chapter 9. 00:31:40.50\00:31:43.30 John chapter 9 and we're going to start in verse one. 00:31:47.60\00:31:50.23 To me this is one of the most exciting 00:31:50.23\00:31:53.36 stories in the Bible. 00:31:53.36\00:31:55.46 When you are there say Amen! Audience: Amen! 00:31:58.56\00:32:00.70 Does anybody need mercy? 00:32:00.70\00:32:03.00 John 9:1, "and when Jesus passed by, he saw a man which" 00:32:04.70\00:32:12.30 "was blind from his birth. " 00:32:12.30\00:32:14.23 2. "And his disciples asked him saying, Master, who did sin, 00:32:16.06\00:32:20.53 " this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?" 00:32:20.53\00:32:25.00 3. "Jesus answered, neither hath this man sinned," 00:32:25.00\00:32:28.30 "nor his parents: but that the works of God should be" 00:32:28.30\00:32:31.60 "made manifest in him. " 00:32:31.60\00:32:34.03 Now I want you to follow this, John chapter 8 Jesus was 00:32:34.03\00:32:37.16 about to get stoned, He was passing out of the Temple 00:32:37.16\00:32:40.26 so they wouldn't kill Him. 00:32:40.26\00:32:41.83 So Here he is, the Savior is escaping for His life, 00:32:41.83\00:32:45.56 and while He is running for His life, He passes by a man 00:32:45.56\00:32:49.90 who was born blind. 00:32:49.90\00:32:51.20 Now let me ask you a question? 00:32:51.20\00:32:53.43 If you are running for your life, and you know there are 00:32:53.43\00:32:56.50 a group of people trying to kill you, would you stop? 00:32:56.50\00:32:59.50 Would you stop? Well that is the kind of Jesus we serve. 00:33:02.60\00:33:07.36 He is not afraid for His life, 00:33:09.23\00:33:11.30 He's afraid to pass you by. 00:33:11.30\00:33:13.30 Can you say Amen! Audience: Amen! 00:33:13.30\00:33:15.80 He is not afraid for His life, He is afraid to pass you by, 00:33:15.80\00:33:20.30 and He sees a man who has had an issue in 00:33:20.30\00:33:24.23 his life from birth. 00:33:24.23\00:33:25.90 Blind from birth, as Jesus passed by, He wasn't looking 00:33:25.90\00:33:30.93 for the blind man, that was not on His agenda. 00:33:30.93\00:33:33.73 He was just passing by, and while He was passing by, 00:33:33.73\00:33:38.83 they see this man who was born blind. 00:33:38.83\00:33:41.70 While they see the man the disciples are like, whose 00:33:41.70\00:33:44.30 fault is it? Did his parents mess up? 00:33:44.30\00:33:46.73 Did he mess up? I thought that was interesting, 00:33:46.73\00:33:48.86 can a man sinned before he was born? 00:33:48.86\00:33:50.60 That is interesting. 00:33:50.60\00:33:53.00 And Jesus says in verse 3. "Neither hath this man" 00:33:53.00\00:33:56.80 "sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God" 00:33:56.80\00:34:00.56 "should be made manifest in him. Jesus says, so that the works of 00:36:55.03\00:36:58.66 God can be made manifest in your life. 00:36:58.66\00:37:01.06 God wants to show Himself strong in your behalf. 00:37:01.06\00:37:04.70 He wants to show the miracle working power of Jesus, 00:37:04.70\00:37:07.80 that there is more than power in the blood, there is 00:37:07.80\00:37:10.80 healing, restoration and for you and I to come back. 00:37:17.00\00:37:18.13 You know the Bible says that we are all born in sin 00:37:18.13\00:37:19.23 and shaped in iniquity. 00:37:19.23\00:37:21.70 We've all had a blindness from birth, 00:37:21.70\00:37:23.66 and Jesus doesn't pass by, He doesn't pass by. 00:37:23.66\00:37:29.26 And He says, why? So that the works of God could be 00:37:29.26\00:37:35.83 manifested in your life. 00:37:35.83\00:37:37.66 So notice what Jesus does, how He heals this man. 00:37:37.66\00:37:40.93 John 9, we read verse three, and went on to verse four, 00:37:40.93\00:37:45.60 "I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is" 00:37:45.60\00:37:50.20 "a day: the night cometh, when no man can work. " 00:37:50.20\00:37:53.10 5. "As long as I am in the world, 00:37:53.10\00:37:55.20 "I am the light of the world. " 00:37:55.20\00:37:57.23 6. "When he had thus spoken, he spat on the ground," 00:37:57.23\00:38:00.33 "and made a clay of spittle, and he anointed the eyes" 00:38:00.33\00:38:03.36 "of the blind man with the clay," 00:38:03.36\00:38:04.83 I thought this was interesting. 00:38:04.83\00:38:06.23 The man is already blind, Jesus makes clay from dirt. 00:38:08.26\00:38:15.70 He puts it over the eyes of the blind man. 00:38:15.70\00:38:18.40 He is already blind and then He gives him these 00:38:18.40\00:38:22.40 instructions, in verse 7. "And he said unto him, go," 00:38:22.40\00:38:27.26 "wash in the pool of Siloam, (which is by" 00:38:27.26\00:38:31.13 "interpretation, sent.) He went his way there for," 00:38:31.13\00:38:35.40 "and washed, and came seeing. " 00:38:35.40\00:38:37.30 Can you say Amen? Audience: Amen. 00:38:37.30\00:38:39.16 Now follow this, he anoints the eyes of the blind man 00:38:39.16\00:38:41.63 with this clay, He spits on the ground makes clay and 00:38:41.63\00:38:44.46 anoints the eyes of the blind man and says go find the 00:38:44.46\00:38:47.23 pool of Siloam and wash. 00:38:47.23\00:38:49.56 Wait a minute Lord, how come the blind man doesn't say 00:38:49.56\00:38:53.20 but I'm blind Jesus? 00:38:53.20\00:38:55.30 How am I going to find a pool of Siloam? 00:38:55.30\00:38:58.50 So his eyes, he is walking through the streets of 00:38:58.50\00:39:02.10 Jerusalem inside the temple with mud hanging off his 00:39:02.10\00:39:05.66 face looking for a pool to find his sight. 00:39:05.66\00:39:09.10 You can imagine he's groping around and talking to people 00:39:09.10\00:39:13.70 hey, am I near the pool of Siloam? 00:39:13.70\00:39:16.03 You have some people that help you on your journey to 00:39:16.03\00:39:18.20 Jesus to be healed, and some people that don't. 00:39:18.20\00:39:20.53 Some people thought this was a practical joke. 00:39:22.13\00:39:24.80 Oh yeah, there's the pool of Siloam, 00:39:24.80\00:39:26.80 leading him right into a wall. 00:39:26.80\00:39:29.16 But then you have other people say, 00:39:31.30\00:39:33.00 brother what are you looking for? 00:39:33.00\00:39:34.60 A man named Jesus told me to go find a pool of Siloam, 00:39:34.60\00:39:38.73 so I could wash. 00:39:38.73\00:39:40.26 They take this blind man by the hand, with this mud on 00:39:40.26\00:39:43.46 his eyes, and they say here's the pool of Siloam. 00:39:43.46\00:39:47.83 I can only imagine that as he goes down to the pool, 00:39:47.83\00:39:51.86 he stumbles in and falls into the water and kneels down 00:39:51.86\00:39:55.86 and start washing his face. 00:39:55.86\00:39:57.56 But this time when he opens his eyes, he can see. 00:39:57.56\00:40:02.40 The first thing the blind man sees is his own reflection. 00:40:02.40\00:40:07.00 I have never seen myself, he sees water dripping down 00:40:07.00\00:40:11.06 his face and looks up and the reflection of a bright 00:40:11.06\00:40:15.06 blue Jerusalem sky. 00:40:15.06\00:40:17.36 So as he is going out of the water, he sees blue for the 00:40:17.36\00:40:20.96 first time, he looks over to see red for the first time. 00:40:20.96\00:40:24.50 He looks over and sees a young child for the first time. 00:40:24.50\00:40:27.90 He sees a beautiful woman for the first time, have mercy. 00:40:27.90\00:40:31.20 As he is walking around he realizes and comes back seeing 00:40:34.46\00:40:39.16 and here we have the only person that we know he wants to 00:40:39.16\00:40:43.83 see is Jesus, but he only had heard His voice. 00:40:43.83\00:40:47.30 If he heard His voice he would know, but he never seen 00:40:47.30\00:40:51.66 Jesus, even if he saw Jesus he wouldn't know Him. 00:40:51.66\00:40:55.73 He wouldn't know Him. 00:40:58.00\00:40:59.36 You see friends, when Jesus works a change in your life, 00:40:59.36\00:41:02.56 the first thing that happens is you see yourself for 00:41:02.56\00:41:05.76 who you really are. 00:41:05.76\00:41:07.50 When your eyes come back, can you say Amen? 00:41:07.50\00:41:09.76 Audience: Amen. 00:41:09.76\00:41:11.00 You see yourself for who you really are. 00:41:11.00\00:41:12.60 He comes home and sees mom for the first time, it is as 00:41:12.60\00:41:17.30 if this is an entire new world for the blind man. 00:41:17.30\00:41:20.40 He is looking at the situation and everything he sees 00:41:21.43\00:41:24.70 is beautiful to him, but at the same token he doesn't 00:41:24.70\00:41:27.53 just get to see beauty, he doesn't just get to see colors, 00:41:27.53\00:41:30.90 and a sky and a man embracing his wife, or a child 00:41:30.90\00:41:34.10 running into the arms of his father for the first time. 00:41:34.10\00:41:37.06 He also gets to see evil for the first time. 00:41:37.06\00:41:39.56 He has only heard, he never saw, he never saw. 00:41:39.56\00:41:46.06 Of course you know what happens. 00:41:46.06\00:41:49.60 He comes back seeing in verse eight. 00:41:49.60\00:41:52.56 As soon as Jesus works that change in your life and mine, 00:41:52.56\00:41:56.20 notice what happens. 00:41:56.20\00:41:58.00 "The neighbors therefore, and they which had seen him " 00:41:58.00\00:42:00.40 that he was blind said, is not this he that sat and begged?" 00:42:00.40\00:42:04.60 9. Some said, this is he: others said," 00:42:04.60\00:42:08.56 "he is like him; but he said, I am he. 00:42:08.56\00:42:12.00 10. Therefore said they unto him, how were thine eyes opened? 00:42:12.00\00:42:14.90 "11. He answered and said, a man that is called Jesus" 00:42:15.33\00:42:19.63 "made clay, and anointed mine eyes, and said unto me," 00:42:19.63\00:42:23.36 "go to the pool of Siloam and wash: and I went and washed 00:42:23.36\00:42:27.03 and I received sight. Right after he prayed this, in his heart, 00:51:46.93\00:51:51.06 he recanted and said God won't save me I'm a wretch. 00:51:51.06\00:51:55.13 I'm a wicked man, the ship survives. 00:51:55.13\00:51:59.26 He got converted and dedicated his life to ministry. 00:51:59.26\00:52:04.40 He wrote thousands of hymns. 00:52:04.40\00:52:06.56 His good friends of William Cowper who wrote, Oh For 00:52:06.56\00:52:10.90 A Closer Walk With God. 00:52:10.90\00:52:12.93 While John Newton came in, he wanted to pen the words 00:52:14.46\00:52:18.96 of this song, God's Grace, the story that 00:52:18.96\00:52:25.10 he turned to was John 9. 00:52:25.10\00:52:28.10 John Newton had a "but now" experience. 00:52:28.10\00:52:33.30 I remember reading about how he was 82 years old, 00:52:33.30\00:52:39.10 he was 82 years old and a man said, John how are you doing?
