out here, sleeping in cars,

He did not let the storm

how people were. And,
you know, they were all

but He did give us the
courage to go through it,

I'd like to begin by reading the
4th Commandment as we find it

The Fourth
Commandment makes it very clear

that God expects us to
keep the Sabbath because

God established the
Sabbath as a Creation ordinance.

In other words, the Sabbath
does not originate with Israel.

The Sabbath
originates at Creation.

Before sin when
there was no Jew.

In other words, the Sabbath
was made for all mankind,

and in its original intention
it had nothing to do with

redemption.

Now, I've noticed that
the theme of our weekend is

The Constitution of Grace.

So this morning I'm not
going to speak about the Sabbath

commandment from the
perspective of Creation
00:12:50.91\00:12:53.94
but from the
perspective of redemption,

which is a second
reason to keep the Sabbath.

It is a reason that
God gives after sin.
00:13:01.81\00:13:05.16
It is a secondary purpose for
the observance of the Sabbath.

The primary, original purpose
was in order to commemorate
00:13:09.48\00:13:13.39
Creation before sin,
before there were any Jews.
00:13:13.49\00:13:17.17
But after sin God gave the
Sabbath an additional function,

and that is to
point to redemption.

In fact it's interesting...
the theme that we have

is The Constitution of Grace.

Do you know that grace
was not even necessary before

Adam and Eve sinned?

Allow me to read you an
interesting statement that

Here Ellen White says this:

"By disobeying

This fall called for
the grace of God to appear

the meaning of this
word grace had we not fallen.

angels who do His service

aware of the fact that the

4th Commandment is repeated
twice in the writings of Moses.

The first time the
motivation is Creation,

motivation is redemption.

what had happened that weekend.

The Bible tells us
that beginning with Moses

prophets He declared to them

in all of the scriptures
the things concerning Himself.

Later on as they were going back
to Jerusalem, one of them said

hearts burn within ourselves

as He opened unto
us the scriptures? "

In other words, the
scriptures of the Old Testament

are DEAD without Jesus.

Christians today that say

There is no such thing as
a New Testament Christian.

You see folks, there
are Bible Christians.

And the Christian world today
is repeating in many ways the

same mistake that
the Jews repeated.

Because the Jews did not
see Jesus in the Old Testament,

and Christians today
can't see Him either.

So what's the difference?

The fact is that the Old
Testament is FULL of Jesus.

On every page, every
line has Jesus in it.

Now, Deuteronomy 8 verse
3 is talking about the manna

and the reason why
God gave the manna.

It says there,

God speaking actually
through Moses to Israel:

What did God feed Israel with?

Manna. Why did He
feed them with manna?

Because it was good food!

Yeah, that too!

But that's not the real reason.

Notice what it continues saying:

now comes the explanation
why God gave the manna

Why did God give the manna?

Because He wanted to
teach Israel that the manna

represented
what? The Word of God.

And man lives by every word
that proceeds out of the mouth

of God. The manna
represented the Word of God.

By the way, the apostle
Paul tells us that that food

was spiritual food.

I Corinthians chapter 10

apostle Paul is reminiscing

about the history of
Israel, and I want you to notice

What was the manna?

It wasn't physical food
only, it was spiritual food.

You see the rock
represents Jesus.

The rod represents
the punishment of God,

the judgment of God.

Every time that Moses raised
his rod and the rod brought

a judgment of God upon Egypt.

So the rod represents judgment.

Even when we use it for

on the Day of Pentecost.

So the first rock episode Moses
is commanded to strike the rock

will give its waters.

represents the judgment that

giving the impression that Jesus
